Golden Roof

Historical landmark
Museums
The Golden Roof is a renowned Gothic oriel in Innsbruck, adorned with 2657 fire-gilt copper tiles that give it its name. Originally built for Emperor Maximilian and his wife to observe events below, it now houses a museum chronicling Innsbruck's history. The exterior is particularly impressive, featuring murals and intricate designs, while the museum offers an insightful look into the city's past.
The Goldenes Dachl or Golden Roof is a landmark structure located in the Old Town part of Innsbruck, Austria. It is a famous plaza of the city. This was completed in 1500 century. It was decorated with 2,000 plus copper tiles for the Emperor at that time. The Emperor and his wife used the balcony to observe festivals, tournaments, dancing, and other events that took place in the plaza below. Up to this day, the plaza is being used for basking, dancing, and events. It's us a nice walk around the plaza with the varieties of shops.

The golden roof of Innsbruck is a fun little thing to see and is in a beautiful part of the old town. There’s lots of good shopping and restaurants around here that make for a fun outing or a good walk from your hotel. It’s worth seeing this too since it’s an iconic part of Innsbruck.
Benjamin M — Google review
The Golden Roof in Innsbruck is a captivating sight! Its shimmering gold tiles make it a stunning backdrop for photos, especially under sunlight. A perfect spot for a leisurely stroll and soaking in the historic charm of the old town. A must-visit for unforgettable memories.
Tongz N — Google review
A beautiful city with stunning mountain views. The cityscape is always set against a backdrop of mountains, which makes it truly picturesque. Everything is very charming, with plenty of restaurants and shops all around.
Yigal R — Google review
The Golden Roof is Innsbruck’s most famous landmark, a late Gothic balcony built in 1500 for Emperor Maximilian I and decorated with 2,657 gilded copper tiles. It’s an impressive piece of history and a symbol of the city, though the small size can feel a bit underwhelming compared to its fame. Worth a look while wandering the Old Town, especially for the historical significance, but don’t expect a grand spectacle.
E P — Google review
Golden roof tells the story of History. Innsbruck is full of colours and lot of stories. The way they protected golden roof till yet and old and beautiful streets are Amazing.
Manasi D — Google review
A must-see in Innsbruck! The Golden Roof is the city’s iconic landmark. Its 2,657 fire-gilded copper tiles still shine brilliantly after centuries! Built by Emperor Maximilian I to celebrate his wedding, it’s not just stunning outside — the museum inside offers a fascinating glimpse into imperial history. The mix of Gothic and early Renaissance architecture is beautiful, and the detailed reliefs bring the past to life. A perfect stop to experience the spirit of old Austria.
Карен — Google review
Golden Roof is considered Innsbruck’s most famous symbol. It’s at one end of Maria Teresa Street, which is usually full of tourists, shops, and restaurants.

Bergisel Ski Jump

Perched on a hill in Innsbruck, the Bergisel Ski Jump is an architectural wonder designed by Zaha Hadid. It offers a unique vantage point to witness ski jumps and provides a panoramic view of the city. The venue also features a viewing platform and cafe for visitors to enjoy. In addition to being a popular tourist attraction, the ski jump is used for training and competitive purposes, allowing visitors to watch ski jumping at certain times.
We spent a couple of hours here, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It was awesome to see the skiers jump. If we were to come back, I think it would be great to have a reservation at the restaurant. The views were stunning.
Dave H — Google review
Came to visit the cool facility during a business sports trip. The view is fabulous and gives you the opportunity to witness a top-notch Olympic sports facility. I didn’t eat or visit the restaurant, and you shouldn’t expect much attraction there, aside from the view and explanatory signs. For the athletes in the crowd, you can make it an impressive 3km run with an 80m elevation trail from the historic town to the entrance, then an additional 250 stairs up! all the way up to the terrace. €10 for a single ticket, with a discount available for students. Please bring a card or a multiple attraction card for the city, or use your local hotel discount code. For more endurance sports suggestions, check out @triathlontrips on Instagram and Facebook.
Triathlontrips U — Google review
Such a cool experience to see the ski jump and the place of the winter Olympics. It is a very reasonably priced ticket for an amazing experience to go up to the top, see incredible views of the city/mountains and if you're lucky you'll get to see the teams practice their ski jumps which is an incredible experience to witness. They also have a gift shop and a restaurant.
Constantine J — Google review
This is an artificial ski slope designed by famous architect. Offers Fabulous views of the Innsbruck city below and the Nordkette mountains beyond. Turning around on the viewing platform, we could see the other side as well. On a clear day, it says one can see a span of over 150 kms. There is a restaurant on the top. Additionally, we got to see a few jumps as well and it was fascinating.
Deepak T — Google review
Went there on a whim on a Tuesday. It’s a bit confusing to find the actual ski jump from the parking spot which was 3,80€ for 90min. After we looked around for a bit, we took the gondola up to the tower and were fortunate enough to see someone practicing the jump. That was really interesting to watch and quite a unique opportunity.
Max S — Google review
Amazing views, architecture, and Tyrolean history We visited Bergisel Ski Jump in May, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip to Innsbruck. The ski jump itself, designed by Zaha Hadid, is a stunning piece of architecture. We took the funicular and elevator up to the top, and the panoramic views over Innsbruck and the surrounding Alps were absolutely breathtaking—even without snow on the ground! It was really cool to stand where the athletes take off—gives you a whole new respect for ski jumping. There’s also a cozy café at the top where we enjoyed coffee with a view. The visit also includes entry to the Tyrol Panorama Museum (not the Olympic Museum), which features a fascinating look at Tyrolean history, culture, and an impressive 360° panoramic painting. Tips for your visit: 🎟️ Combo tickets include the funicular, elevator to the tower, and entrance to the Tyrol Panorama Museum. 🗓️ Visiting in May was perfect—no crowds, pleasant weather, and everything open. 📸 Visit on a clear day for the best views—sunset is especially beautiful. ☕ Don’t miss the café at the top—it’s small but offers incredible scenery. 👟 Some light walking and stairs involved, so wear comfortable shoes. A must-visit spot in Innsbruck, even outside of ski season. Beautifully designed, educational, and unforgettable.
Artem P — Google review
The most unique place to visit in Innsbruck! You got some of the best views over the city while also having the opportunity to go to the top of a ski jump. Both the perspective from the bottom of the jump and the top are really cool. Don't forget that 1 floor below the top Observatory, you can have a top to bottom view of the launch station of the ski jump, which is really cool but can easily be overlooked. I really loved visiting this place, the cable cart from bottom to the top and the little museum are also nice little extras (all included in 1 ticket). There is also a small forest around the ski jump accessible from the carpark which has a nice hike and gives you some nice views of the ski jump tower and the surrounding area. I highly recommend visiting this place.
Julien W — Google review
Excellent views of the city!! You can enjoy the restaurant at the top. It's covered with an Innsbruck card, and you can use a sightseeing bus to reach here.

Maria-Theresien-Straße is a captivating thoroughfare in Innsbruck that beautifully marries history with modern vibrancy. This iconic street, which stretches from the Triumphal Arch to the Old Town, serves as a bustling hub filled with an array of shops, outdoor cafes, and bars. As you wander along this pedestrian-friendly promenade, you'll be surrounded by stunning baroque architecture and significant landmarks like St. Anne's Column and the Chapel of St. George.
Nice street to walk down and chill on. Occasional street performance/music. Nice views

Pretty, although expectations for whole city were perhaps too high
Maciek G — Google review
beautiful street with access to a number of cafe, shopping mall, shops and lots of recreation, you can walk straight to the lake view
Gautam S — Google review
Elegant and Lively – Strolling Down Maria-Theresien-Straße Maria-Theresien-Straße is the beating heart of Innsbruck—a stunning promenade that blends baroque elegance with the buzz of modern city life. Flanked by ornate historic buildings and snow-capped Alpine views, this boulevard made a lasting impression on me. The street is lined with a great mix of cafés, shops, and local boutiques, making it perfect for both leisurely strolling and spontaneous shopping. The atmosphere was vibrant yet relaxed, with locals mingling with tourists, buskers adding music to the air, and cozy terraces inviting you to sit back and take it all in. One of the highlights was the St. Anne’s Column (Annasäule), standing proudly against the backdrop of Nordkette mountain peaks—it’s a perfect photo spot and a lovely place to pause and admire your surroundings. The blend of modern stores and centuries-old architecture gives Maria-Theresien-Straße a unique charm that’s both timeless and trendy. Whether you’re there to shop, sip coffee, or simply enjoy the scenery, this street is a must-visit. It’s more than a thoroughfare—it’s an experience that captures the spirit of Innsbruck beautifully.
Shanz S — Google review
impressive street with historical buildings and new construction shops. Tram and buses pass through it and it starts with the victory gate and end with the View of Baroque towers and the Mountains.
David A — Google review
Maria-Theresien-Straße is 500 meters long and part of it, 200 meters at one end, is a pedestrian zone path with cafes and shops on both sides. This is the heart of Innsbruck that attracts both locals and tourists alike. This street is especially scenic with the Nordkette mountain range as its backdrop.
Globetrotting A — Google review
The main street of Innsbruck is stunning. The views of the mountains framing the cityscape are beautiful and make for a perfect walk.

Nestled on the mountainside, Alpenzoo Innsbruck - Tirol is a conservation-focused zoo showcasing rare Alpine birds and animals, including wolves and golden eagles. Situated over 700 meters above sea level, it boasts a diverse collection of over 2,000 species such as bears, bison, otters, and more. Visitors can reach the zoo by climbing the hill or taking a trip on the Hungerburgbahn train.
A nice visit with kids when you are in town. The zoo has a good size for various animals in the region. You can simply finish the entire zoo in a couple of hours. There are actually plenty of interesting animals. All the descriptions are just written in German. So if you can't read German, get your Google Translate ready!
Preeyakorn P — Google review
Nice small zoo up lower area of the mountain. The crowd was less in the afternoon and my kid enjoy the playground in the zoo. There are mixture of birds and animals so it is easy to navigate around and visit this zoo. Only thing is reaching the zoo, either by driving or like us as tourists which we took the train instead.
Kenneth K — Google review
Great attraction up the mountain in Innsbruck. The animals were clearly very hot during a scorching August day, but the zoo did not disappoint. We brought our stroller which is recommended given a lot of walking required. Included in the Innsbruck card.
Madeline C — Google review
Some animals were cooped up in too small cages… on the other hand, some animals would already be extinct if it hadn’t been for zoos’ breeding programs.. So it’s a bit double. We enjoyed the visit but it would be a good thing if the cages of some of the bigger animals would be extended!
Hans S — Google review
Bigger than expected but a lot of empty cages. Built on a steep hill so be prepared to walk up and down hills. Having said that, there are some highlights; the brown bear, the alpine ibex, vultures, bison and wild boars. Add the zoo to your cable car trip for an extra €5. Recommend a walk to the the top of the foxes area where you can have an ice cream, swing on a wooden hammock and take in the views of Innsbruck.
John L — Google review
Great little zoo up in the hills. Nice to get up close with some of the animals. Brought the toddler there who wanted to nap so I had more fun. Love that the Moose stopped, looked at me, squat and pee’d whilst making eye contact with me 😂 Took the W bus from the town. Quick and efficient, easy to plan return trip as it came to the zoo every 30 mins.
J D — Google review
Great day out at the zoo! We had a blast on a rainy day in Innsbruck. The Vultures and the Bison were out fave. Plus the all the snakes were amazing! Good job and can recommend. 10/10
Reuben D — Google review
Great zoo with interesting ways of presenting the animals like open cages-you can actually have an eagle flying over your head. It seems that there was a lot of thinking in celreating each animal with the space that will suit it best

Nordkette, also known as the Jewel of The Alps, is a prominent mountain ridge near Innsbruck that offers breathtaking panoramic views and access to various outdoor activities. Accessible from the city center via the Hungerburg funicular and a cable car, Nordkette attracts skiers in winter and hikers, mountain bikers in summer. It boasts impressive freestyle and park scenes as well as steep slopes for skiing.
Cannot miss this. Get online tickets before coming. The cable car carries u up and stops at multiple points on the way. U can get down or continue as u wish. Nordekette is the topmost point which may have snow or may not. Do not miss sunscreen or sunglasses. Each stop has a cafe and amenities as well. In short a must go!
Siddharth K — Google review
Incredible view with the cable cart up to the top of the mountain! Views all over Innsbruck town and during a clear day you can see all the way to Italy.
Oscar J — Google review
Nordkette is an absolute must-visit! The cable cars take you smoothly all the way up, and once you’re there, the views are breathtaking — easily some of the most beautiful I’ve ever seen over any city.
Omar ( — Google review
Great afternoon. Great gondola ride. Staff seemed a bit unbothered driving the gondola. Little busy but great experience. Reckoned going later as there’s slight less crowds and you’ll get better pics!
John R — Google review
One of the best views of the city on the top of the mountains! You can go there for skiing through the cable car or you can also go there on your own by hiking. However, don't forget to get dressed properly for a very steep hike and make sure you have enough water till you reach to the top. You'll see, it's definitely worth climbing up there! (By the way, the photos were taken in April)
Illy — Google review
If you're in Innsbruck, you should definitely spend a day (or more than a day) in the mountains. You can reach the top with the cable cars, and the view of Innsbruck from there is stunning.
Giuseppe T — Google review
The views were stunning and a great experience overall. It’s very cold and windy at the top in February so dress warm and wear appropriate shoes if you want to do some exploring. We weren’t skiing.
Flora T — Google review
The wonderful picturesque views. Our world is really amazing with its own beauty. We cannot forget some memories that are completely our fortune. Schloss Ambras Innsbruck is a late Renaissance castle turned national museum that was once the headquarters for the Austrian Archduke Ferdinand II. The Spanish Hall, famous for hosting classical music concerts, is a highlight of this Renaissance castle. Visitors can explore a vast collection of weapons and armor as well as art treasures including paintings and sculptures. Surrounding the castle is a sprawling English garden offering impressive views.
This is a great place to visit! While I wish more impf it was still in it's original state, if you love history, museums, and information then this is for you. Easy to spend hours reading about everything on display, and exploring the grounds. I only wish the special exhibition had been open when I went.
Merecia L — Google review
Accesible price for so many things to see and learn. It is absolutelly beautiful to learn the history not only of Österreich but also of Europe. The only recommendation is to put a stronger lights in some halls as the letters are very small and the light is bad for reading. Btw. I loved the 80c coffee in the ticket office. The lady there is very kind and helpfull.
Nady N — Google review
The palace is more like a portrait gallery. The place is very peaceful. If you read everything, it takes like 3 to 4 hours to see everything. The parking only takes coins. It is cheaper the ticket if you buy it online.
Mike P — Google review
Great museum, pretty place. Parking is a little overpriced and inconvenient, since you have to pay for parking before your visit when you can't estimate the time you would want to spend there. We had to go back multiple times to prolong parking, since parking app doesn't work well with international phone numbers.
Olga K — Google review
I haven't seen the castle itself, but its beautiful garden is a great place to spend an afternoon with friends. There's a lot to explore and enjoy. It is free to visit the garden.
Elham A — Google review
Overall, it was an average experience. The castle has a museum full of murals and wall paintings of the royal family. It gets boring after a while to keep looking at them. The garden around the castle is very green and picturesque!
Krishan C — Google review
Pretty good place to spend few hours. Access is available to 2 buildings. Nice big park around the castle. Free entry with the Innsbruck Card.
Kyrylo S — Google review
An absolute jewel and highlight of the Innsbruck visit. This famous Habsburg castle is a unique renaissance exemplar, housing a stunning personal collection of “curiosities” and some of the most famous Habsburg portraits. While a bit out of town, castle can be easily accessed by public bus, available every 7 minutes. Don’t miss it! 1,5hours is enough for the visit. But add some time to just relax in the park or have a snack and coffee in the courtyard cafe.

This 16th-century Renaissance and Baroque residence boasts lavish interiors adorned with frescoes, offering a glimpse into the power and artistic tastes of its former inhabitants.
One of the best museum/church tour presentation. Super engaging and informative, appealing to all ages. Then the actual church where the cenotaph lies, every inches cries out the grandeur of old holy roman empire richness. Don’t miss out this visit

Absolutely amazing. Very large and in the center of the city. Really a must in Innsbruck. The only bad part is that they don’t allow you to take pictures, not even with phones. Other than that, amazing

a medieval building expanded and renovated on the baroque style from the 18th century but still holds gothic parts. the building contains imperial apartments, special exhibition on Emperor Max 1, painting gallery and the impressive Giant Hall with princes and princess's paintings alongside the chapel.

Bad experience regarding the tickets. The Kaiser apartments are 9.5€ only, but the only tickets that we were sold were combined tickets at 20€. The baroque exhibition and Maximilian 1 are not interesting. Please do not make the same mistake and ask for the Kaiser appartement only.
Karel B — Google review
Beautiful palace. Family that ordered built had a very good and timeless taste for decoration. Down one star because they don’t allow you to take pictures when there is so many already around on the internet.
R B — Google review
The Hofburg is a former Habsburg palace, considered one of the three most important cultural buildings in the country, along with the Hofburg and Schönbrunn Palaces in Vienna. The Hofburg is the main building of a large residential complex that was once used by the Habsburgs. This palace hosted Maximilian, Maria Tetrezia and Elisabeth-Sisi. The exterior is beautiful and imposing. Unfortunately, there was not enough time for a guided tour.
Bogdan M — Google review
One of the ugliest museography I've ever seen. My visit to the Hofburg in Innsbruck left me with a bitter taste. I had expected an immersion into a place steeped in history, where the walls, objects, and scenography would converse to tell the story of the imperial past and the grandeur of the Habsburgs. Instead, I was confronted with a museum display lacking substance, where spectacle seemed to have taken precedence over historical respect. The modern arrangements, often clumsy, felt imposed without regard for the palace’s heritage dimension. The visual desecration through an overloaded and even kitsch aesthetic drained the spaces of their original majesty. It was a museographic cacophony, where excessive theatricality concealed a real narrative void. To me, this approach is symptomatic of a certain progressive ideology (dominating in Innsbruck...) where the drive for modernity and accessibility sometimes overwhelms the subtlety and solemnity required to preserve such an exceptional heritage. Respecting history, far from being rigid or backward-looking, requires a nuanced understanding of the dialogue between past and present—a dialogue that, unfortunately, has been broken here. The Hofburg deserved a more sober, more respectful approach, and above all, one that remains faithful to its spirit. A missed opportunity, leaving behind the feeling of squandered potential. (And look at the beautiful building they élevated just in front of the Hofburg ...)
Sans S — Google review
Photos and videos are not allowed in the museum and there are quite a few staff around to enforce it. It was interesting to learn about the history of Maria Theresa, how she loved her husband so much that she had his night clothing made into robes for the religious leaders to wear after his passing. The paintings in the family hall/giant hall were exquisite! There was no audio guide available when we went, perhaps the guide was being redeveloped, as we saw numbers with the headphone symbol around at descriptions, but the ticketing office said there are no audio guides. There are no lockers for bags, so if you have a backpack, they will instruct you to wear it at the front.

The Tirol Panorama and Kaiserjäger Museum in Innsbruck is a captivating blend of history, art, and culture. The museum showcases the military history of Tyrol and features the Kaiserjägermuseum, which narrates the story of the Austrian Imperial Army's infantry regiments from 1815 to 1918.
Very special museum. The main attraction, as the name implies is a large circular panoramic picture of a battle that took place there many years ago. With a bit of fantasy and a soundtrack for your inner ear, you can really be immersed in the experience.
Peter J — Google review
Wonderful place. Suggest buying combo tickets for the museum + Bergisel and consider the working hours to make it in time to see both.
Nicolae M — Google review
A Fascinating Dive into Tyrolean Identity and History The Tyrol Panorama Museum is a must-visit if you’re in Innsbruck and want a deeper understanding of the region’s cultural and historical roots. The highlight is the impressive 360° cyclorama—a massive panoramic painting that vividly depicts the 1809 Tyrolean Rebellion against Napoleon’s forces. It's immersive and powerful, offering a unique storytelling format you won’t find in typical museums. Beyond the panorama, the museum features well-curated exhibits that explore Tyrolean identity—covering military history, religion, daily life, and alpine culture. The design is modern and spacious, and everything is well-labeled in both German and English. Tips for your visit: 🗺️ Located right next to the Bergisel Ski Jump—easy to combine both in one visit. 🎟️ Admission to the Tyrol Panorama Museum is included with Bergisel combo tickets. 🕰️ Plan about 1–1.5 hours to explore the museum at a relaxed pace. 🧒 Family-friendly and engaging for kids thanks to interactive displays. 📸 Outside, you’ll find great photo ops of Innsbruck and the mountains—don’t miss the terrace view. I highly suggest buying combo tickets for both the Tyrol Panorama Museum and Bergisel Ski Jump. It’s more convenient and often better value. Also, be sure to check their opening hours ahead of time and plan your visit so you have enough time to see both attractions comfortably in one day. A great mix of art, history, and regional pride—well worth a stop whether you're a history buff or just curious about Tyrol’s unique past.
Artem P — Google review
Worth a visit! It's on the same ticket as the Folk Museum + Church. The panorama really is cool and I learned a lot about the history of Tyrol from the 1700s onward.

I am usually a great lover of military museums but I would have to agree with another reviewer, I probably would come here if you had other locations or activities nearby you were doing.

The Court Church Innsbruck is a stunning Gothic church that houses the tombs of Emperor Maximilian I and Archduke Ferdinand, as well as a 450-year-old organ. While its exterior may seem unassuming, the interior is a treasure trove of historical artifacts and monuments. The Ebert organ, a rare Renaissance instrument, still graces the church with its music.
Amazing church with attached museum that is fascinating. The artwork and artifacts are amazing. Tickets are not expensive for what you get to see. I recommend doing the museum first and then the church.
Jon M — Google review
Absolutely fantastic church and museum, a definite must see if you are in Innsbruck and have even the smallest interest in history and/or religion. It’s not huge but a very interesting visit.
Sam S — Google review
A beautiful church housing the tomb of emperor Maximillian I. The statues and detailing of the building make this an interesting place to look around for a while. A combination ticket can be purchased to enter the attached museum as well.
Madeline K — Google review
The entry costs 9 eur per adult but we found it worthwhile. The church is filled with human size metal sculptures made with incredible artistry. Between them is a mosuleum surrounded by marbel plates carved with tiny details.. Amazing artwork allaround.
Noam S — Google review
Gothic church from mid 16th century. contains the impressive emperor Tomb and the high locals sculptures along side tomb od an Empress and local Tyrol hero. in the upper floor there is also another church. the entrance will be reduced if you already visited the Hofburg. so keep your ticket.
David A — Google review
If the church was free I would likely give it 4 stars for its good audio guide or just to have a quick wander through as you can see it all in about 15-20 minutes (30 if you go very slowly), but removed one as 8 EUR didn’t feel like great value for money. The church was built to commemorate Maximilian I tomb, but his body evidently lies elsewhere per the brochure/statues map. The 28 statues surrounding it of his family and people admired are beautiful and detailed, and a bit unique for a church, as is the adjoining chapel up the stairs. Facility wise there is a cafe and clean toilets, which is a plus. But not worth 8 EUR as a standalone attraction.
Becky T — Google review
It is pretty expensive (8 euros) to go inside the church, but it is free with the Innsbruck card. For the Innsbruck card, you may have to squeeze quite a lot of activities to make it worth though
JY T — Google review
I have to be honest: why do you need to pay 8€ to visit a church with some statues inside of it? To me it doesn't make any sense at all! However, if you are under 19 it is free to enter. What I suggest is, if you are a family, not to enter everyone, but just the ones who can enter for free, so they can make pictures and then they can show you how it is inside, since, again, it is not worth the price

Innsbrucker Nordkettenbahnen Betriebs GmbH (Nordkette) is a modern transportation system connecting Innsbruck with Hungerburg, designed by Zaha Hadid. The cable car ride offers a scenic 20-minute journey to the Nordkette, showcasing breathtaking views of Innsbruck and its surrounding mountain landscapes.
If I could give this more than 5 stars, I would! The Nordkette Cable Car is like riding straight into a postcard. 🚡 You start right in the heart of Innsbruck, glide up on the Hungerburg funicular, hop on the Seegrubenbahn, and before you know it you’re soaring over alpine meadows and jagged peaks. The final stretch to Hafelekar feels like you’re being lifted to the edge of the sky — and the views at the top? Absolutely jaw-dropping. 🌍✨ The ride itself is smooth, the cabins are clean, and the staff are friendly. Pro tip: go on a clear day — you’ll see the whole city spread out below and snow-capped peaks stretching forever. Bring a camera and a jacket, because even in summer it’s chilly at the top! Whether you want to hike, snap a million photos, or just sip a drink with the most epic backdrop imaginable, this is a must-do in Innsbruck. Worth every cent and then some.

Value for money if you go during happy hours. Even if you don’t find tickets online, just go there and they will apply the discount of 20% during happy hours. We went around 4 PM and I think it is perfect timing. Very little rush in funicular, cable cars (there are 2) , view point and also in the cafe/restaurant.

Great visit. A total of two sets is cable car takes you to the top location. The views are splendid. Allow approx. 3 hours for the complete trip.

Amazing thing to do when you want to escape the heat in the city on a hot cloudless day! Cable car and gondola can be packed. Getting tickets online is a good idea. It’s not cheap but the views totally worth it!

I came here in March 2025 I had a brilliant time going to The Top Of Innsbruck. Exciting travel up the mountain. Short but sweet walks. Brilliant views. Food and drink options. A very fun climb to the top. wait time for cable cars is usually not too bad.
Joe S — Google review
Excellent way to go to top of Innsbruck! Amazing views.. Can do well to put vipers on glass windows, esp to clean up rain water.. it will help to view more clearly.
Krishan C — Google review
This is worth an experience. The views are just stunning and you can see whole of Innsbruck scattered and beautiful. This is one of the must go places in Innsbruck. It takes you to the highest point where you can go for a small hike.
Rachana D — Google review
The queuing time was quite long here to go up even in January. It seems reasonably priced until you workout the price of the cable car to go right to the top and then it is pretty expensive. The ride halfway up on the funicular is pretty fast, the trains are modern and you do get great views. When you get halfway there is a great viewing platform and you can see right across the city of innsbruck even as far as the ski jump

Sitzwohl

Restaurant
Sitzwohl is a renowned restaurant in Innsbruck, known for its exceptional cuisine and contemporary ambiance. Run by chefs Irmgard Sitzwohl and Elisabeth Geisler, the restaurant offers a delightful fusion of local Austrian delicacies with Mediterranean influences. The menu features fresh organic produce and dishes like pan-fried pike fillets with wild garlic risotto and bacon-potato strudel with a chive dip.
My wife and I had a delightful meal on their outdoor patio. It was traditional Austrian I inspired ingredients with an international sensibility. Very Asian influenced, lots of umami. Five stars for creativity. The carpaccio and kohlrabi/black truffle soup were outstanding. Subtle flavors and creatively plated (with baby shishu leaves). The portobello mushroom was a vegetarian reinterpretation of traditional Wiener schnitzel with a delicious spinach/egg salad base. Our waiter was knowledgeable about local Austrian Riesling and made a great recommendation. Afterwards, he brought us another different vintner to compare. We had a lovely evening and would go back again. The four stars for atmosphere wasn't the restaurant's fault...at eight p.m.. the construction team arrived and started to jackhammer the sidewalk across the square.

We visited Innsbruck same time last year, it was a weekend excursion from Munich, we were a little disappointed as Sitzwohl closed for weekends (both Sat & Sun). This year, extra effort been made to reach Innsbruck on Friday evening, and advanced booking been made ahead. Long story short, this is a great restaurant which score with flying color for all 3 attributes. If I were to add one more dimension, I would praise highly on the presentation of the each dish served… full of creativity & aesthetics.. Kudos to the Chef who really care for finite details. The white asparagus soup served was the first positive impression, followed by the pleasant surprise was the Tuna Pizza, the Tuna was freshly sliced in Sashimi form, layered with pickle ginger & Mayonnaise Wasabi stacked above a approx 3-4 inches Pizza bread… my immediate impression was that it was Japanese Washoku Fusion, for once I thought we were in a Japanese restaurant, another Japanese Fusion element was the tender Black Angus steak which top with the sauce which seemingly cheated my taste buds as a Wafu sauce (Yaki Niku sauce). The restaurant Manager Russel presented a highest level of hospitality, in my opinion. We promised Russel that we will come again for sure!!

Sitzwohl is a wonderful restaurant with amazing food, it has great atmosphere and service. You can choose food from vegetarian, fish or meat dishes. The appetizers have good portions and taste wonderful, i recommend the tuna as a starter. For dessert there are a few choices and the irish cake absolutely blew my mind. The restaurant can also host larger groups or be booked by a dinner out with your co-workers.

Top notch restaurant would put it in 1 star Michelin range. The full tasting menu is the way to go. Great wine list at a decent prices. People have been “complaining” about price but I think it’s perfectly priced for the quality, portion and service. Each dish was balanced thoughtful and served well. I had an awesome staff member from Sardinia, he was great! 6 stars!

This is the end of a beautiful year, and this restaurant and the team has touch our heart with this unique experience. The environment, the service and the food were a great combination. I can say was poetry, love and magic in one place. A new year eve dinner was ahead and we were well welcomed with champagne glass and a avocado tartar that just open our appetite for the wonderful dinner. I will let the pictures to show how this place will take you to a trip of flavours and textures. Their contemporary cuisine and respect for and to the products show the value of this restaurant. I can tell you how wonderful and unforgettable this place was but. The only thing I would like to say; I will 100% come back next year to celebrate, because I know they will celebrate with me and my family by delighting us/you with a magical feast.

If you’re lucky enough to have Lee as your server, you’re in excellent hands. He’s a true asset to the restaurant and a rare gem in hospitality. Thank you, Lee, for an unforgettable evening!

Short: Top Restaurant and bar. Pricy but worth it! Long: Bar and adjacent conference room on the ground floor (nice outdoor tables too) and a very good restaurant upstairs. Menu changes with every season and is accompanied by a decent variety of wines. Staff is very friendly, facilities and such are clean. Parking is possible in the underground carpark right underneath the restaurant. It's definitely not cheap but it delivers. I'd recommend doing a reservation.

The evening started off great with a rosemary & apricot sorbet Prosecco spritz. Next came the prosciutto and melon spread which was to-die-for (IMHO) and we haven’t even reached our mains!

Perched atop the Rathausgalerien town hall and shopping mall, Restaurant Lichtblick offers a spectacular dining experience with breathtaking views of Innsbruck. The menu is a fusion of Austrian, Mediterranean, and Asian flavors, creating an innovative culinary journey. Adjacent to the restaurant is the 360 wine bar and lounge, where guests can savor fine wines while taking in panoramic vistas of Innsbruck and its surrounding mountains.
Excellent menus at a very reasonable price in a superb setting on top of the city hall with views across Innsbruck. We were three and all had different menus, and we were all very happy. Even the swordfish was excellent. The gazpacho had a real kick and will be remembered for a long time! Creative desserts. Good wines as well. Only service could be a bit more attentive.

We had a great dinner! Food was perfect, service even better. Not rushed and all questions answered (English). Wine paring suggestions from our server were spot on. We did one of each menu and shared. Highly recommended!
Jonathan K — Google review
The restaurant has a beautiful setting with a stunning view. We were mostly looked after by a local medical student, who was wonderful—very friendly and helpful in both German and English. The starter and dessert were a delightful surprise, though we found the main course and soup a bit underwhelming in comparison.
Sander V — Google review
Our food was delicious, prices quite high but I'd say worth it since it all tasted really well. The restaurant is quite small and it feels tight in there. The waiters asked us what felt like a million times if we were good and still needed something, it felt like they wanted for us to leave asap which wasn't all too great. But our overall experience was good. Probably coming back, but since it's quite hard to get a table, not all too soon.
San R — Google review
We reserved the entire restaurant for our wedding celebration and it was fantastic. The restaurant prepared everything for us thus planning was super easy. The staff was amazing and extremely attentive throughout the night. They went above and beyond and our guests were all extremely happy. Thank you!

From the moment I stepped into Restaurant Lichtblick, I was captivated. The staff were wonderfully accommodating, setting the stage for what would be an unforgettable dining experience. Their particular attention to solo diners like myself made the evening even more enjoyable, creating a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. The food at Lichtblick is beyond comparison - each dish is not only cooked to perfection but also carries an innovative flair that sets it apart from anything else in the area. The taste is memorable, a testament to the creativity and skill that goes into each plate. But the experience isn’t limited to the palate alone. The stunning views from the restaurant add a visual delight to the entire affair. Paired with the gentle background music that encourages contemplation without being intrusive, the ambiance is nothing short of perfect. However, the only slight drawback was the limited options for wine by the glass. More variety here would further elevate the dining experience. In conclusion, Restaurant Lichtblick offers an unparalleled dining experience with its welcoming staff, innovative menu, and breathtaking views. It’s an absolute must-visit for anyone seeking a memorable meal.

Das Schindler, a popular meeting place in the center of Innsbruck, is known for its stylish and elegant ambiance as well as being one of the best breakfast spots in the city. With large windows overlooking the main shopping street Maria-Theresien-Strasse, guests can observe the bustling activity.
Tasty cuisine with high-quality ingredients and interesting flavours. We enjoyed our lunch a lot. Service was very attentive and helpful. Will definitely come back again.
Sonia S — Google review
restaurant in the center of Innsbruck, beautiful and elegant venue, adequate service. modern cuisine which however is not worth, dishes well presented but not well executed. prices above average.
Leonardo M — Google review
Good lunch restaurant located in the city center of Innsbruck, along the pedestrian Maria-Theresien-Strasse. This place is very lively and crowded with tourists. However, the restaurant is on the first floor and offers a beautiful view of the pedestrian street, its magnificent buildings, and has a good atmosphere. The staff is professional and efficient, the food is Italian and while good, it's nothing too fancy. The menu is a fixed price at lunch, you can choose between 4-5 options.
Cedric M — Google review
It wasn’t easy to find the restaurant, it’s not actually inside the shopping centre, but at a separate entrance before it, on the first floor. That said, the food was very good and it made for a great final meal in Innsbruck.
Hazem K — Google review
My sister was in town so we decided on a visit to "Das Schindler", one of my favorite Lunch Restaurants in Innsbruck. They serve a fixed lunch menu and you can decide between four different courses, either 2 course or 3 course lunch. There is always a Vegetarian meal available too. After we ordered our beverages, 1 glass of Prosecco and 1 beer and a mineral water, the waiter asked what we had decided on. My sister and I both chose the Shrimp Satay, a delicate appetizer with a hint of spicy Indonesian flavor, shrimps and some delicious veggies. My wife ordered the salad which looked very fresh and she said it tasted scrumptious. As our main course we ordered three different dishes. The traditional "Wiener Schnitzel" and potato salad. The Schnitzel was a pork cutlet. I ordered the Beef Goulash with "Spaetzle" and the meat was incredibly moist and well cooked, the sauce had a touch of mild paprika, just enough, but not too much. I really enjoyed it very much. The grilled Salmon filet was served on black rice and was so tender it melted in the mouth. The total bill for three people, including tips ended up being 90 Euros, well worth the visit and the quality of the food. I always enjoy going to "Das Schindler", however this time there was one thing that kind of bugged me. I am used to excellent service there, but this time the waiter was efficient but very impersonal. That was the only disappointing detail.
Gisela B — Google review
Good Wienerschnitzel, the salad and potato sides could definitely use some improvement. The waiter seemed to rush us through in the beginning of our dinner, but as the restaurant became busy the rush decreased. Very good location.
L V — Google review
You clearly pay for the restaurant’s location. We are used to fine dining and it was not. All ingredients are fresh and local which is a good point, unfortunately there’s a big issue with seasoning : no salt or pepper in any of the dishes we ordered, everything was very bland. Sorbets were very good but that was the only part of the dessert we enjoyed : the apple cake strongly tasted like egg and the baba au rhum didn’t smell or taste like rhum, it was a simple cake. Waiters didn’t seem very knowledgeable as I asked for a local drink or alcohol and he offered me apero spritz which is Italian

Die Wilderin is a charming restaurant located in the picturesque city of Innsbruck, offering a delightful culinary experience for food enthusiasts and social media aficionados alike. The restaurant's rustic charm and an enticing menu promise to tantalize your taste buds with inventive cocktails and wild game specialties. Chef Alexander Reis presents modern interpretations of Austrian classics, such as tender boiled rump of Tyrolean Grey beef and succulent roasted duck.
We had an amazing meal here on Saturday (possibly one of our favourite restaurants that we’ve been to yet). The owner and staff are so friendly, they are all so passionate about sustainable good food and local produce. He joined us at the tablet to talk through the menu in English, and he chose each of my wines to compliment each dish. Our favourite had to be the wild garlic dumpling starter. We loved the cosy, homely, friendly feeling in the restaurant. We would go back if we return to Innsbruck - highly recommend!

Best restaurant in Innsbruck, by far. The ingredients are sourced. The menu changes a lot, based on what’s available. The dishes are always very tastefull. It’s a nice change to the standard Austrian cuisine. The service is proficient and enthusiastic. The place might get a bit hot in the summer though. We make sure to visit this place every time we are in Innsbruck!

I would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Innsbruck. The concept of valuing each element of the dish, and each part of the animal was incredible. The food was fantastic, the flavours complex and interesting. The menu changes very frequently so ingredients are always fresh and in season. It was also nice to see how the staff felt like a family.
Emma K — Google review
The best local food, service, and atmosphere. We tried horse (carpaccio, tartar) for the first time, and the delicious 13 year old cow meat (ribs, neck). Strongly recommend if you look for a food experience that is local and welcoming. They rotate the menu based on the animal they have to offer a unique experience.

As a devoted culinary traveler, dining at die Wilderin felt like savoring the essence of Alpine elegance. Nestled in a quiet lane of Innsbruck’s Old Town, the warm, thoughtfully designed interior—soft lighting, rich wood accents, and modern flair—immediately sets a tone of intimate comfort. I experienced a menu that unfolds like nature’s seasons: perfectly hand-cut beef tartare, delicate chicken croquettes, and succulent pork belly, all elevated by creative plating and genuine local flavor. Every bite resonated with integrity, from the ethically sourced ingredients to the respectful use of whole-animal parts. Service was gracious and mindful—knowledgeable, patient, and deeply proud of what they serve. A well-curated wine list complemented each dish effortlessly. die Wilderin doesn’t just offer a meal—it offers a narrative of place, passion, and intentional hospitality. A must-visit for anyone craving purposeful, unforgettable dining in Innsbruck.

Tourists beware!!! 🛑🛑🛑 Rude from the start. No menu in English and condescending attitude the whole meal for being Canadian. Rushed us to order, insulted my wife's taste in food, waiters left for a smoke and rink halfway through for 30min. Forgot a drink order and then put it on the bill. Staff put in photo. Awful service would not recommend.
John — Google review
The most unforgettable dining experience, with my dog, no reservation, and zero regrets. I stumbled upon this gem after reading the glowing reviews and seeing the impressive rating. I had no reservation, and I came with a dog. The audacity, I know, (lol?) but something told me I had to try it. When I walked in, a kind lady (Claudia) welcomed me and said I could wait about 30 minutes for a spot at the bar. I left my name and stepped out, not expecting much. Still, I called just in case to try and reserve a table for the next day. At first, they said they were fully booked. But then! magic!! Minutes later they called back to let me know a spot had opened, (they knew I was the girl who had come in with the dog earlier)- I returned, and to my surprise, I was given a table instead of the bar. Just me, my dog, and one of the best meals of my life. The menu was in German, but they kindly offered to help. I simply asked for their recommendations. What followed was culinary bliss. The starter? A delicate piece of fish served atop a potato creation, accompanied by zucchini and, wait for it, cucumber ice cream. Yes, cucumber ice cream. I took one bite and suddenly had an existential crisis: how was I ever going to live without this dish again? When I finished, the plate still had some of the sauce, and a lovely young woman Amelie, offered me bread so I could savor every last drop. I almost cried. For the main course, I went bold and chose the Bambi: venison, something I’d never tried before. Claudia would come to tell me the details of the dish etc. Amelie and Claudia took care of me the whole evening with such warmth and attention, I felt like I was in someone’s home. The venison was larger than expected, served with a silky carrot purée, perfectly cooked zucchini, a beautifully balanced risotto, and meat so tender it felt like butter. I wanted dessert, but I was too full to move. Oh! They also brought water for my dog! This was, without a doubt, the best service and meal I’ve had in weeks!! After dining at multiple Michelin-starred restaurants in Paris. What sets this place apart isn’t just the food, but the ethos: they have a deep commitment to sustainability, which only elevates the entire experience. Because that’s what this is, an experience. One that stays with you long after the meal ends. Every bite, every detail, every interaction was worth it. Five stars aren’t enough.
Heidy T — Google review
It was absolutely a very pleasant meal - the best one we have had in Innsbruck! The menu is different every day depending on the fresh ingredients they have available so it’s always a surprise and you can definitely feel the passion and dedication. The menu is not in English but the owner explains every dish in detail including the ingredients and how it’s cooked. We ordered 2 starters, beef tartare and duck liver, and 1 main course, marinated chicken with Austrian rice ball. They all taste heavenly and the combination of each dish has a unique flavour. The duck liver is super creamy and smooth with the cranberry jelly served on top that gives a refreshing taste to the dish. Didn’t get a chance to try the wine (I saw there’s a great selection on wine) but the Tyrol beer is also amazing. Highly recommend this cozy restaurant to anyone visiting Innsbruck!

Sorry to say this but food in this place used to be good and tasty. Today we were disappointed. The meat had no taste and way too overcooked. The käsespätzle was ok but also missing some spices. Service was unbelievably bad. Completely ignoring us and when she actually came to the table her face was so angry that I thought we should pay and leave before I make a scene. You need to smile and greet and talk with your guests. Disappointing because the place could have a massive potential not just 3 tables for lunch.

Ottonurb Went to this place as it was recommended by the locals and doesnt have long waiting time when you come without reservations. Ordered: • The Classics : ENTRECOTE "ALT WIEN" €28.90 • The Reinvented : “WILDERERPFANDL” €28.00 • The Desserts : HOMEMADE APPLE STRUDEL €7.50 with Vanilla Sauce (recommended by the staff) extra €1.00 They’re all nice. My favourite was the beef as it’s light but heavy (iykyk). The deer is ‘heavier’ than thr beef. Strudel was ok. Overall they’re good. I would come back eat the beef again 😊 The service was a bit slow as we’re at the top level (three levels in total) and i pity the staffs that have to go up and down the stairs to take orders and give the orders to us. Note: €2.70 pp for table seating service

We started with a tasty Carpaccio and a seasonal mixed salad. For our main courses, we enjoyed: - Creamy Veal Goulash - Pepper Filet Steak - Chicken Breast “Tuscany” - Wildererpfandl Each dish was generously portioned and bursting with flavor. Great Italian spot on the other side of the river in Innsbruck. Friendly and accommodating staff with our wiggly toddler. We enjoyed two gluten free pastas. Note they fill up so may be worth calling to make reservations. It also got a little hot inside but somewhat understandable on one of the hottest days of the year.

The atmosphere is great as is the pizza but my pasta was so so. So many dishes from the menu are not available which quite disappointed ☹️ I ordered the half lobster pasta as the waiter was recommended and I've got as the picture you can see. Boy are we glad we saved writing all our reviews for the Pizzerie in Innsbruck until today. Because finally, we got to eat at due Sicilie. And it was a treat. The ingredients were among the finest we’ve had in a long while. The dough was delicious and soft inside, yet crispy outside and not at all soggy despite the wonderfully juicy toppings. The sauce is beautifully made with less, just as it is meant to be. The selection of toppings leaves little to be desired. And the namesake pie „due Sicilie“ with the Calabrian onions and sausage and the potatoes, just so amazing. Everything you hope for is the pizza with the spicy salami and the 'nduja. The fior di latte is great and I am running out of ways to describe this fantastic meal. And the price is more than right. All thumbs up for this great find and absolutely worth coming back to for some more great Pizza from the wood burning oven. Thanks for an awesome time

I recommend this place for amazing local cuisine! Food: We ordered local dishes like the Tartar and the Gulasch. The Tartar was among the best I have eaten as the quality of the meat was very good. Sadly they didn't have deer Gulasch but the beef one was very tasty as well. I saw a few reviews about the price of the food and recommend to maybe not order fries with chicken nuggets and expect MC Donalds prices. This place makes great local food so I recommend ordering local dishes also. Service & Atmosphere: The staff is super friendly and professional and the location itself quite cozy and clean.

I visited Restaurant Goldener Adler in Innsbruck with my family, including my two children. We loved the cozy atmosphere and beautiful old architecture of the building. Unlike many nearby restaurants that are mostly for tourists, this place feels more genuine and serves proper, authentic Austrian food. Good wine too. Our waiter helped us choose the right wine to go with our meal, which made the experience even better. The service was friendly, and made us feel welcome. It was a great place to eat after exploring nearby sights.

As a family (my wife and 6 month old son) went there for dinner to experience the typical Austrian cuisine. We went there spontaneously and have found immediately a table; it was at the back of the restaurant, with some few stair steps. The manager himself offered us his help to carry our stroller to the dinning table - very friendly. We ordered a typical Austrian dish with mashed potatoes and meatballs plus Wienerschnitzel (veal). The meat was so tender and soooo delicious. Also the wine recommendation from the manager was great. What the stay made remarkable was the outstanding, professional and friendly service of our waiter Martin. He managed everything and took time to explain us the dishes although they were quite busy. Food and drinks came always very fast (thanks to Martin’s colleagues). That was the reason why returned the day after for the dessert. The day after, Martin offered us a great table with the stroller and his friendly smile. We enjoyed the Kaiserschmarren and the couple of white wine glasses. My wife and myself will come back anytime again. We can definitely recommend this place to anyone; delicious food, excellent & friendly service and in a great ambience.

Nice restaurant in Hotel Goldener Adler in Innsbrook. Historic hotel, dating back centuries. The menu is up to date, current Austrian fare. Service was crisp, attentive. Cocktails were excellent! Asparagus soup (in season) was good, as was the beef. Nice bottle of white Austrian wine rounded out dinner. Dessert .., strudel with vanilla ice cream (learning scoops are much smaller in EU!). Enjoyed dinner so much, forgot photos! 😅 Recommend this place for dinner.

Very nice traditional food, very nice service, explaining to us in 3 languages 💯 The atmosphere is chill and relaxing, nice decoration. Highly recommend

This restaurant was not our first choice to visit as Piano bar opposite was full. But it was certainly the most friendliest place in Innsbruck. From.the moment you enter the restaurant, various staff greeted us sincerely from what we felt. The waiter patiently explained the asparagus cream soup of the day and recommended dishes. He checked on us from time to time. Overall, we really recommend this place for a nice experience of Austrian cuisine.

I love this place though it was my first time. This is how you imagine Tirolean food and climate in a best way. Staff is vary friendly and helpful. And the food simply great. Enough choice for everyone. Wine and beer selection is more than enough. This was a great time for me.

Restaurant Oniriq

Mentioned on

$$$$very expensive
Fine dining restaurant
Restaurant Oniriq, located in Burgerstrasse, is a top-rated establishment with four Hauben, making it a standout in Innsbruck's culinary scene. Chef Christoph Bickel, who has honed his skills in various European fine dining restaurants and even worked in a 3-star venue in Chicago, brings his expertise to this dream venture.
We visited the restaurant in Jun 2024 to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. All we can say is everything was exquisite. From greeting us as we step into the restaurant, patiently explaining the menu, the wonderful attention given to us throughout the whole dinner session and most importantly the quality and detail that the team at Oniriq give is worthy of a Michelin restaurant, if not, more. Thank you for the wonderful experience.
Marcus L — Google review
I’ve been visiting Innsbruck regularly for the last five years, probably the most charming European city, and Oniriq is definitely evidence that I am getting something right. It’s not a menu they have, it’s a magic formula. I guarantee it will turn you into a better person. This is how I feel in any case, after tasting their incredible fish and meat menu and delightful wine, and Darina, the lovely amazing hostess, had no small part in it.

We spent a really nice evening there with friends. The food was really well presented and the taste was as well meeting our expectation. We did not have at the end this feeling of too much food. It was just as I should be. Furthermore they took care of the special diet for one person at the table… gluten free. This was not as all as issue. The service was a well really friendly. Each dish was presented to us. We got as well a small tour in the herb garden. Thanks for the nice evening!

What a great restaurant! We had a real Michelin-star experience… we selected the vegetarian menu with the wine pairing. A real good chef will show his master-excellence by challenging vegetarian dishes.. the creative presentation on the beautiful Rochini chinaware and the excellent austrian wine selection in The ultra fine and thin Rochini (Zalto-like) wine glasses added to our wonderful evening… we were impressed by the superb efficient and discreet service with a passionate sommelier.. an exquisite gastronomic dinning experience!

I found this restaurant on Trip Advisor. I was looking for a Michelin quality restaurant and this is certainly that. Wonderful, creative food, great service and a quite enjoyable atmosphere. Fabulous!
Laura R — Google review
Unique/delicious food, impeccable service, very quiet and enjoyable environment. The team seems to enjoy working with each other. Two people with drinks and tip came out to be €650, which is very much worth the pleasant experience.

The food is excellent, worthy of Michelin star restaurant and while expensive the food makes it worth every penny, sadly the service is not up to the same standard and while it's not that bad, you expect a higher standard when you go to a prestigious restaurant

Il Convento

Restaurant
Il Convento is a charming Italian restaurant located in the heart of Innsbruck, offering a unique blend of historical and modern architecture that creates a special atmosphere. The restaurant has received accolades for its mouthwatering perspective on Italian cuisine, particularly Cucina Mediterranea. It was once led by the late chef Peppino Conte and his wife Angelika, known for their delicious specialties such as braised veal roast and parmigiana.
1. Friendly and accommodating service 2. Grilled octopus leg with potato and veal cheek with polenta were cooked to perfection. Delicate texture and flavour but not overcooked. Very authentic and well executed. 3.Tiramisu has rich egg and coffee flavour and melt in your mouth.

Great food. Great Service. Friendly staff. Good Prices. It is a hard combination to beat. The best part was the waiter gave us no static about sending back a pretty expensive bottle of wine. I am pretty sure that he knew it was coming back when he opened it. He gave me the cork, and it smelled pretty bad. He took a sniff after me, but we tried it anyway! Our meals and dessert were superb. I loved the black risotto. I think I will have that again if we ever visit Innsbruck again.
George S — Google review
This was a very nice Italian restaurant. A good selection of authentic dishes not pasta and pizza so many have resorted to. I went with soup of the day (courgette and potato) followed by grilled sea bass. We had a bottle of white from the Veneto. The food was really good. Alas service a little slow and we were sat on the terrace but right out on display of everyone else walking by. I preferred it to inside but it didn’t work for me.
Steve B — Google review
I came here because Google said they cater to gluten free. Everything I ate was devine and the staff were very friendly. It's good night when you find yourself dipping soft gluten free bread into olive oil, get to eat truffle pasta and to top it off are able to order gooey chocolate cake as well. The only thing I'd wish for was bigger portions because it tasted so damn good!

Innsbruck’s Excellent Dine caters to vegetarians with specially crafted Penne Arrabbiata and Minestrone soup, complemented by a diverse cheese selection. The array of wine options enhances the overall experience, making it a must-visit destination.

Amazing variety of Mediterranean dishes. Authentic mixuture and great experimentation with the sea food, pasta and other exotic ingredients. A classy and posh place for special events and soirees. A great meal worth the bit expensive amounts to pay.
Reem S — Google review
Loved the food. Both octopus salad and fish were delicious and cooked to perfection. The service was good and everything quite authentic. It's a bit difficult to get a reservation, so one definitely has to call in a few days ahead, especially for bigger groups. The restaurant isn't cheap compared to other restaurants in the city, but it was worth it. We had a really nice time and will come back for sure.

Rude waiter. Besides of not taking care of our table (pouring Prosecco and cleaning the dishes). Our complains about steak was completely ignored!!!!steak has been sent back to the kitchen 3 times (we ordered medium rare, first time it came well done and second time it was completely rare and quality of the meat was poor) couldn’t eat it. Fish carpaccio was very tasteless, no flavour at all ! What is more this night in the restaurant they run out with truffle Mille feuille was so bad! The pastry was like from supermarket!!! All in all waiter couldn’t get our opinion about the food what was more disappointing, he was very rude in saying that we were critics by looking at the pictures on the internet and was not willing to listen to our comments about the food ! I’m a world traveler, never had this rudeness in my life! So disappointed in this place,as I came here only because of good food and nice reviews

Transportation in Innsbruck

Getting around Innsbruck can be a little daunting if you’re new here. We can help list some of the major public transportation methods if you don’t want to rely on a car.

Innsbruck Airport

International airport
Airport
Innsbruck Airport is the gateway to the stunning Nordkette Mountain, offering breathtaking panoramic views of Innsbruck and the Karwendel area. As the capital of Tyrol, it boasts a vibrant cultural scene, high-end cuisine, and architectural wonders. With over 300,000 residents and 30,000 students from Innsbruck University, it's a bustling city with a diverse population.
After reading reviews I arrived at the airport at 7.30am for a 9.40am flight. There were no other passengers at the bag drop counters or security so we got through both in about 5 minutes. I would recommend looking at how many flights are leaving the airport around your flight time because if you’re the only flight for a few hours then it will be a very fast process! The airport has beautiful views of the mountains but there’s only one small duty free store and one small cafe. So you don’t really need to get here 2 hours early if there aren’t other flights at the same time :)

Innsbruck Airport is one of those rare airports where the journey feels special from start to finish. Small, efficient, and surrounded by breathtaking Alpine scenery, it’s a gateway that already feels like part of the trip. The terminal is compact, which makes navigation easy and stress-free. From check-in to security usually takes only a few minutes, far quicker than at major hubs. Staff are friendly and professional, and baggage handling is smooth—even with skis and snowboards during the busy winter season. While queues can get longer at peak holiday times, the atmosphere is still more relaxed than most airports. Facilities inside are modest but practical. You’ll find cafés, a snack bar, duty-free shopping, and regional souvenirs. Don’t expect endless dining or luxury lounges, but for a short wait before boarding, everything essential is there. Free Wi-Fi works reliably, which is always a plus. The real highlight is the flight experience. Approaching or departing Innsbruck is unforgettable, with planes threading through dramatic mountain peaks and valleys. It’s considered one of the most scenic—and challenging—landings in Europe, and pilots are specially trained for these alpine conditions. Winter weather can sometimes cause delays or diversions, but staff usually handle these situations well with clear communication. Getting to and from the airport is very convenient. The city center is only 15 minutes away by taxi, bus, or rental car. Public transport is reliable and affordable, and car rentals are right at the terminal for those heading to ski resorts or exploring Tyrol. Overall, Innsbruck Airport is efficient, welcoming, and uniquely beautiful. It may not have the scale of bigger airports, but as a smooth gateway to the Alps, it delivers an experience few others can match.
Flip M — Google review
Innsbruck Airport offers one of the most breathtaking backdrops for any landing or takeoff — surrounded by towering alpine peaks. Whether you’re arriving or departing, the mountain views are spectacular, especially on a clear day. Small airport, big scenery!

Be warned, bankrupt Austrian Airlines runs the airports in this country and it shows. Like a bad comedy, you will have the same people at check-in, security, and then your gate. We traveled almost every country in the EU over the summer, this was miles apart in terms of how bad it was. They confiscate everything at security. France allows 2 liter full bottles, nope not in Austria. Charge for any bags over 8kg, even though the overhead bins support 12kg per bag. €120 for checked bags because we had 10kg carry on. The price of an ENTIRE AIRLINE TICKET to another country. Safe to say we will never travel to this country again or fly Austrian Air again. Tell me how treating tourist like this will help your economy that is already in recession? Bad management that don't know what they are doing. It's a shame a corporation can ruin a county like this, I'd be pissed if I was an Austrian national depending on tourist in their restaurants, taxis, hotels, businesses, ECT. I'm not the only one. Reddit tells everyone to avoid this country now. Millions in business lost to an already struggling country. To top it all off, flight was late, barely got on our connecting flight, and our bags missed the connection that we were forced to check. This meant wearing the same clothes for 48 hours in Hungary.
Koda — Google review
Want to give a shoutout to Maria and Krista from the staff team! 🎉(Sorry if I spell it wrong.) They were incredibly helpful in resolving my ticket issues. I had booked a connecting flight with Transavia and KLM, but the system couldn’t find my ticket for some reason. Their precision and efficiency were truly impressive. I’m very relieved that I was able to board the plane and continue my flight.
Nataniel F — Google review
A small airport that handles everything quickly and efficiently. The only downside is that in winter, it can get very crowded, and on some days, the airport struggles to manage the large number of passengers.
Jakob — Google review
Slightly chaotic during busy periods; insufficient areas for travellers to wait and many people were sitting on the floor outside the airport waiting to check in. Worth noting, it would seem many airlines open their cehck-in desks 2 hours prior to the flight. The restaurant options in the airport are incredibly expensive, don't expect to get any change from €10 for a plate of chips and a soft drink. Airside was incredibly busy as well with people forced to sit on stairs due to huge numbers waiting. On an upside, the airport has a viewing area non-airside with stunning views of the surrounding mountains. The Tirol lounge is quite small but a nice place to wait for your flight.
Tony W — Google review
Had pretty chaotic experience at this airport the other day. First we had to wait for an hour outside the building. Basically nothing seemed to be happening. Luckily it was not raining. Once in, we were eventually checked in with boarding passed that stated that our flight was late by one hour. We had a quick lunch upstairs, only to realise that perhaps our flight was still trying to depart more or less in time. So we hurried to security check, but the staff guided us go upstairs, it would be faster. We went there, but after standing a few minutes in very very slow queue there, we realised that the lines are moving faster downstairs after all. So back down! Fortunately the other passengers were really friendly and let us jump the queue. We made it thru relatively fast and found that, yes indeed, the gate was already open and the flight was indeed boarding. So luckily we made it in the end, leaving about 20mins late. Definitely it was one of the most confusing on-boarding experiences for a long time. LESSON LEARNED - Dont trust what you see on your Boarding Card!

Bolzano Airport

International airport
Bolzano Airport, located in Bolzano, Italy, is the primary international airport serving South Tyrol. It is the only airport in the province and is owned and operated by Aeroporto di Bolzano S.p.A. Situated approximately 5 km from the city center, it boasts a single runway. The airport offers convenient access to charming towns like Ortisei and Canazei nestled in the Dolomites.
Small but new and clean, light, modern and easy to navigate. Just one bathroom for men and women at the belt, so you better be quick or patient 🤣😎. And if you rent a car, go to Hertz, not Europcar, the latter is incredibly slow.
Oliver N — Google review
Typical small regional airport with efficient operations but limited facilities. Before security there is a cafe and charging points. After security only a vending machine and no charging points. Security staff is rather rude and hectic. Physical boarding pass required. Public transportation so-so.
Dirk — Google review
There are no taxis cabs outside the airport. If you have to be somewhere right after you get here, I suggest not wasting your time trying to download taxi apps or calling taxi numbers that don’t work. Instead, walk out of the airport and take a bus. I had to get to the train station and I missed my train while I was trying to figure this whole thing out. It’s roughly an 8-10 minute walk from the airport entrance to the bus stop and then a 15 min bus ride to the station. I saw many people trying to get hold of a taxi cab in the blazing sun and missing their trains. So, plan in advance. You can pay your bus fee on the bus, or download yet another weird app. Your call.
Estef M — Google review
Good news: small airport, hardly any flights- so any luggage is quickly with you. Ditto passport control- very quick. Bad news: no sign-posting to bus stop (bus does not stop at the airport), it is a 600m trudge with sometimes unpaved path to main road. (all without signage). Suggestion: the airport owner (who also owns SkyAlps, the local airline) should get the city buses to loop round and stop in the airport. Decision: Not planning to fly here again
LGW B — Google review
Small, but efficient airport. Convenient location to fly into the Alps. It is about a 10min walk down the road from the closest bus stop. Friendly staff in the cafe.

Even the boarding pass qr code provided given during online check in was not accepted. Also, both flights to Bozen/Bolzano and out were delayed even when there is only one airline and two gates. Truly disappointed ...
Carolina C — Google review
Funny to see BZO Bozen/Bolzano next to MUC, VIE, BCN or even LHR. Flight BZO-IBZ-BZO in summer. For me it is very convenient to visit the family, as IBZ is well connected to the rest of Spain where I live. I have taken it already a few times and the timing was perfect. I can only recommend it. BZO is a tiny airport: no queues, no hassle... There are not many flights, but the right ones for some holidays in the Alps. Let's give it a try.
