Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center

Aquarium
Zoos & Aquariums
The Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center is a captivating destination that immerses visitors in the wonders of marine life native to Virginia, both past and present. Nestled just a mile from downtown, this attraction boasts over 300 interactive exhibits, including touch pools where you can get hands-on with stingrays and horseshoe crabs. The experience doesn't stop there; guests can marvel at an impressive array of creatures such as turtles, sharks, otters, and even Komodo dragons.
My family and I had a nice visit to the Virginia Beach Aquarium, a charming and family-friendly spot that’s perfect for a day out with kids. This cute little aquarium is split into two buildings, connected by a scenic 10-minute trail walk (or a quick 2-minute drive), which adds a nice touch of adventure to the experience. We explored the building housing the sharks and sea turtles, and it was a hit, especially with the kiddos! The aquarium offers plenty to see, do, and—most importantly for my kids—touch. For children who thrive on hands-on experiences, this place delivers with numerous interactive touch exhibits that kept my little ones engaged and excited. The fish walkway was favorite, with cute fish swimming all around us. We had a blast using a chart to identify different species, turning it into a fun family game. The shark tank was another highlight, with a sea turtle stealing the show whenever it made an appearance. Sitting and watching the sharks glide by was nice. I loved how the aquarium seamlessly blends indoor and outdoor elements. You can step outside for stunning scenic views or take a leisurely stroll along the nature trail, which adds a refreshing break from the exhibits. The outdoor areas are thoughtfully incorporated, with spots to sit and soak in the surroundings. The café was cute, though it can get hectic during peak lunch hours, so plan accordingly. Overall, the Virginia Beach Aquarium is a fantastic destination for families. With interactive exhibits, engaging displays, and a perfect mix of indoor and outdoor experiences, it’s a great museum that left us all smiling. Highly recommend for a fun, hands-on adventure!

Nicely organized, friendly staff, and interesting exhibits. My son enjoyed the touch tanks and submarine control room, but it didn’t take long to get through the entire aquarium (about 2 hours moving pretty slowly). Could use something inside that’s more interactive like the seals at the entrance. Penguins would be a great addition. Not sure if the $35+/ticket is justified for another trip if in the area. Not disappointed in our trip, but not sure I would visit again. The gift shop prices are also insane. $70 for a long sleeve shirt tops all prices for gift shops I’ve been in before, and we’ve been to 10+ aquariums. Left without buying anything from the gift shop for the first time.
Danielle L — Google review
Very nice staff. Pet the sting rays was cool. Got a little taken back when they started playing, be prepared to get wet should they start to play again when you are near. Didn't eat at the cafe but seemed to have plenty to choose from. Boat ride wasn't available on a Monday I was there. Due to it was after Labor Day. Bathrooms are clean. 10/10
Melissa C — Google review
Nice Aquarium we came from up north. Love the seal right outside before you get it very unique touch. I was very surprised to see reptiles but the surprise was pleasant. We did go on a Saturday which was crowded but organized. Only negative was the parking meters had to go to multiple before we found one that actually worked so that definitely needs to be fixed it was a bit of a hassle. Make sure you take the walk on the scenic nature route the the south building where the otter and jelly fish are. Be warned the walk is about 13 minutes from one building to the other then you have to walk the same way back. They also have zip lining you can pay to do in that area a bit pricey but looked fun. Overall it is worth it if you take the scenic walk as well. They did have a theater but they said it was not ready and it was well into the afternoon so that was disappointing. But overall I recommend and it’s worth price ended up spending 2.5 hours which is way more than we planned but fun
Cici C — Google review
Ok, if it your first time to this aquarium, let me start off by saying that there are 2 buildings, a North and a South that you get to by walking through an overhead zip line obstacle course. The path is well marked, but I was surprised by that set up. The staff were friendly, approachable, and informative. There are interact displays in around the buildings that would do a good job of keeping kids (and adults) entertained. We were also able to touch jellyfish and stingrays.
Mendy E — Google review
We were in Virginia Beach for a family vacation with the whole family, 10 people ages 12 to 80, and saw the good reviews of this aquarium so we thought it would be a nice place to spend the afternoon on a day with a good chance of afternoon thunderstorms. Overall, it was very disappointing. We have been to a lot of aquariums and this one was by far the least interesting and impressive, and one of the more expensive and crowded. There was not a lot of actual aquarium stuff and it only took about 2-2.5 hours to go through the entire thing, which at $35/person was not worth the cost. Many of the exhibits were closed or missing their animals and we all left disappointed. I wouldn’t recommend it.
Rebecca F — Google review
I’m a big fan of aquariums and this by far is one of the best ones. We arrived around noon, there was no line to go in. I love how they have everything in separate sections, place was clean, staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. We went with 3 little ones and they enjoy every minute of it, being able to touch and play with stingrays was the highlight for sure. Great place for families. I’d definitely recommend. We enjoyed it so much.
SQ — Google review
After seeing how my baby watched the fish tanks at petco, we decided to take her to the aquarium. She loved it! The animals were all well cared for, staff were friendly, and plenty of parking. We will definitely be coming back to make a full day out of it when she’s older to take advantage of the trails and restaurants outside.

First Landing State Park, situated on the Cape Henry beachfront, is a historic site and natural haven boasting marshes, maritime forests, hiking trails, and canoe routes. This park is a popular destination in the Hampton Roads metro area due to its coastal location and numerous outdoor activities. It's also recognized as Virginia's first planned park and holds a place on the Register of Historic Places as Seashore State Park Historic District.
A beautiful day out walking on the trails and beach. It was so good we came back the next day for some beach fun. Great for family, friends and the dog. Don't forget to pack a lunch and beverages. Will definitely be back!

$7 is the entrance/parking fee 1- kids & family friendly beach, bay water which means low tide and calm waves. Amazing for kids and people who can’t swim but they need to feel the ocean salty water all over their bodies 🧘🏽‍♀️ 2- They have outside beach shower, and restrooms, so you can shower then go to the restroom to get dressed. 3- I saw people with dogs, which means dogs friendly beach 🦮 4- If you’re looking for not crowded calm beach, it’s here. 5- We passed by the campground and it looks awesome, the campsites look wild between the woods but yet each of them has a parking space, they have grill-fire place, and picnic tables as well. There are special spots for RVs too. 6- The gift shop has some snacks, and soft drinks. The prices are very normal and reasonable. They have ice cream but it’s open certain days not every day. We noticed that they have firewood 🪵 too, for $8. 7- This beach is a starting point for some guided kayak tours. Go there and have fun 😌
Rahma H — Google review
Lots of trees and the military jets/helicopters stop by 10 PM. They're not bad. The beach is clean and was deserted on October 29-31. We loved our site 183 pull through, and they have a shuttle stop during high season.
Linda — Google review
First Landing is such a well-run, beautiful park. Whenever I make the trip down to Virginia Beach, I end up spending most of the day here. I enjoy exploring the beach and trails with my dogs. It’s usually less crowded here and easy to get in and out vs having to drive around trying to find parking by the beach boardwalk. The staff we’ve encountered here are very kind and helpful too!
Alice — Google review
We keep coming back year after year. We've been making this trip for about 10 years now. Its a quiet clean campground. The beach is a 10min walk. The Chesapeake bay is perfect for kids, the waves are small, lots of wildlife for the kids to explore.
Shane H — Google review
Very helpful staff and plenty of parking. We visited the beach briefly and then walked one of the shorter trails through the woods. Beautiful walk on a very well-maintained trail.
Janice W — Google review
It was a terribly, rainy day when we visited the park. We enjoyed walking through the visitor center, interpretive exhibits and seeing their animal ambassadors. We also visited the center near their trailhead on the other side of the park. Nice park gift shop also. Cabins are currently under renovation and didn’t get to see the campground.
Gwen D — Google review
Very cool spot. There was hardly anyone here so it was super peaceful and serene. Walked around and then drove the park and it seemed like a dream.

Military Aviation Museum

Museum
Event venue
Nestled in the scenic Sandbridge area of Virginia Beach, the Military Aviation Museum is a treasure trove for aviation enthusiasts and history buffs alike. This impressive museum boasts one of the largest private collections of vintage military aircraft from World War I and II, many of which are still capable of flight. Visitors can explore over 100 acres filled with meticulously restored planes that played significant roles in military history, including iconic fighters and bombers.
Absolutely an incredible display of history filled with proof of the American will for the protection and the betterment of mankind. You are filled beyond with pride and patriotism. I don’t think it is humanly possible to walk out feeling prouder than you walked in of the true American spirit that is a welcomed installation needed so desperately especially today. Place is also immaculate and the “men in blue “ are so experienced and knowledgeable. They are so friendly and eager to hear your stories as well. Head there today and wave the flag!
Stephen P — Google review
What a cool place! So many planes to see and learn about. Recommend a tour if you can catch one. Lots of extra details and stories you wouldn't get if touring alone! Even the bathrooms have history lessons on the walls.
Beckie S — Google review
I'm giving five stars, because the fact of the matter is the individuals that volunteered here or work here. Actually cared, and we're glad to be there. That's huge for me, because if you're gonna have a place like this, be enthusiastic about it, be glad you're there, which everybody was. Not to mention the information that they had about different things were also plentiful. The hangers could be a little more interactive where you could get up closer to the planes maybe in look into some of them, but they were still very cool. I did disagree with the $350 price tag to get a quick flight in one of the planes, which to me fuel costs are not that high. I mean, who in the world can afford that amount of money? They gotta change that or not. Because that's just outrageous and screams we cater to a certain sect of folk...I mean we the little people are helping keeping this place going to, by buying regular tickets and merchandise, I wanted to go so bad, but oh well... Anyway, It's a pretty big area and we spent three hours there total. It's definitely worth going, and I am a critic as you can see from the things that I review. So again, it's definitely worth going✌🏼
Joseph C — Google review
My son and I went to the mseum not knowing what to expect. My son loves military planes, their engines and overall operations. We were so impressed with the quality of the planes and thoroughly enjoyed the staff that were available in the hangers for questions and answers. The free tour to an operations tower and 2 more hangers was amazing! It is a mere $17 for adults but there is also military discount, children and senior rates. The museum operates on donations and grants, so the price is a bargain. The gift shop is small but packed with some great memorabilia. We can't wait to go back, hopefully for the upcoming airshow. Its a must see for the whole family!
Lisa — Google review
We went to the museum for an after hours special event and got to see both of the WWII hangars with the aircraft. It was amazing. There were volunteers there to tell us about the planes. They are all pristine and fully restored. You literally walk amongst these planes around, under and can see them up close! Very cool place!
Gwen D — Google review
We drove to VA Beach to check this Museum off our "adventure" list. So glad we did, the staff was great! The gentleman that greeted us was very knowledgeable and gave us a backstory of some of the planes and history. They have quite a few planes there and upstairs is a cool collection of items. We definitely enjoyed our time there and the gift shop has alot of cool things as well!
Cathy A — Google review
I stay in Richmond, so more than two hours travel until this Museum. Nice location, very quiet and lot of green grass and tree around. If you want to spend a Sunday with you family or alone, this museum is the right place to visit. Recommended.
Romeo C — Google review
The museum is always a good time and the staff there is friendly and really eager to tell stories and share information! We were lucky enough to catch the tail end of one of the guided tours and Tim was an excellent guide who brought us through a section of the museum I hadn't seen before. You could tell he had a passion for what he did, and the final piece of the tour really made the whole experience worth it.

Cape Henry Lighthouse

Mentioned on
18 lists
Historical landmark
Sights & Landmarks
Nestled at the entrance of Chesapeake Bay, the Cape Henry Lighthouse is a historic gem that dates back to 1791. This iconic structure was pivotal in ensuring safe navigation for vessels entering the harbor, marking a significant milestone in maritime history. Constructed from Aquia sandstone—similar to that used in many Washington, DC buildings—the lighthouse stands as a testament to early American engineering and federal investment. Visitors can climb its tower for breathtaking ocean views and explore its charming gift shop filled with unique souvenirs.
What a lot of fun!! We were a little stunned with the whole military onboarding but, it just added to the memories. It was raining but, we had tons of fun. The 1st set of stairs was 79 just to get to the actual lighthouse then the balance was in the lighthouse for the total. If you wanted the "up close" view of the site, don't be afraid of the total steps.( it's less than half 😎). It's amazing how the 1st tower is in such great shape. Just goes to show American ingenuity. There is some really special artwork on site including a real cannon from the USS Utah. There is a store for sundries and a very cool boardwalk so, If you are anywhere near here, it's a "must see".
Flat T — Google review
This site offers a comprehensive overview of the country's history. The vantage point from the historic lighthouse provides breathtaking views. The stairwells are easily accessible. Interior temperatures can be elevated. Please note that the site is located on a military base. Consequently, all visitors must present a valid driver's license or alternative form of identification. The entry process is expedited. The shuttle service from the entrance to the lighthouse grounds is prompt. We recommend allocating approximately 49 minutes for your visit.😀
Cristina S — Google review
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Must-Visit Historic Gem with Stunning Coastal Views Visiting the Cape Henry Lighthouse was a memorable and enriching experience. Located within the secure perimeter of Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story, it’s important to note that access requires a valid photo ID for everyone over the age of 16. The process is very organized — after a quick ID check at the gate, a shuttle transports visitors from the front entrance directly to the lighthouse area. The lighthouse itself is a beautiful and well-preserved piece of American history. We learned a lot about its significance — it was the first federal construction project authorized by the U.S. government in 1792 and offers incredible insight into early coastal navigation and maritime heritage. The staff and volunteers were friendly, knowledgeable, and eager to share fascinating facts about the area and its historical context. Climbing to the top of the lighthouse rewarded us with absolutely breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean and the entrance to the Chesapeake Bay. It’s the perfect spot for photos, reflection, or just enjoying the scenery. Highly recommend this experience for history lovers, families, and anyone looking to soak in panoramic coastal views while learning about early American history. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes for the climb, and don’t forget your ID
Brian B — Google review
Worth the extra effort to get on the military base. Climb to the top of the lighthouse is not nearly as daunting as it sounds if heights aren't an issue for you, the view is worth it! See where the Jamestown colony landed. Interpretive signs are helpful.
Lynn D — Google review
Located on a military base. You must enter at gate 8 and they will escort you to where you need to go. You will exchange your ID for a base pass. There are rules to abide, like where the boundaries are and what you can pictures of. Then you will shuttled back to the lighthouse area. If you pay for the lighthouse there are a bunch of stairs to get to the lighthouse in addition to the lighthouse stairs. You can only climb the older lighthouse (brick), not the newer one (black & white iron). The overview of the Chesapeake Bay & monuments provided some history. Walking in the boundaries could be hot during summer months since there is little to no shade.
Roxanne M — Google review
This place is pretty neat! We love history, so we were excited to explore this site, which was touched by Washington and Hamilton. It's worth it to walk all the way up the lighthouse, for a great 360° view. It's also worth it to take the civilian walk to the shoreline area. One item of note is, this is located on an active navy base. You have to go through a checkpoint and a briefing. What you take with you to that briefing is ALL you can take with you to the lighthouse. That briefing clears you to take the shuttle that will take you to the lighthouse area. If you go through the briefing, then remember you need something else in your vehicle (which you leave at that parking lot), you have to go through the briefing again. So make sure you bring everything you need, the first time, to help you and your family avoid the hassle of going through the briefing multiple times. We did not know this when we were there, as it was our first time, and NO ONE, not even the military people at the checkpoint, prepared us for that. All they said was, "Park there, walk into that building, get briefed, then you wait for the shuttle." THAT was all they said. We left our backpack, waistpacks, water, snacks, sunscreen, bug spray, everything, in the vehicle, and went to the lighthouse without anything except what we carried into the briefing building. Not the most informative crew at the vehicle entrance checkpoint. So now you know. Other than that, it was a good day trip!
A D — Google review
The staff here are amazing, passionate, and knowledgeable about the facility as well as the greater lighthouse ecosystem around the country! A truly memorable and enjoyable experience of our summer! Please note, the lighthouse is located on an active military site so please check requirements before hand and it will be an worthwhile visit!
Robert S — Google review
A must go if you're in the area. This is a truly magnificent structure that you can climb all the way to the top. The history on this lighthouse and how long ago it was built is very surprising. A park guide will explain the history. There's even a bucket that simulates the oil that had to be carried up to the light each day and you can pick that up and carry it.

False Cape State Park

State park
Nature & Parks
False Cape State Park, located between Back Bay and the Atlantic Ocean, offers a back-to-nature experience with its pristine maritime forest and coastline. Accessible only by hiking or boating in, the park features 15 miles of trails, untouched beaches for sunbathing and swimming, guided kayak trips, and beachfront primitive camping. Visitors can explore the historic Wash Woods community and enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, biking through various trails, kayaking trips, beachcombing, and camping.
We kayaked into False Cape from the bay side of Little Island Park—challenging, but absolutely worth it. Paddling through Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge was a highlight, with sightings of eagles, ospreys, otters, and plenty of other wildlife along the way. Camping at False Cape isn’t full-on backcountry, but it’s pretty close. There’s a ranger station and some basic facilities, but no fires are allowed and the bugs are no joke—come prepared. The reward? Six miles of undeveloped beach, 15+ miles of well-maintained trails, and the rare chance to see the sunrise over the Atlantic and set over the bay, all from the same patch of wild land. We didn’t make it to the Wash Woods historic site this time, but it’s at the top of our list for the next trip. Big thanks to the staff at the ranger station—they were incredibly helpful and friendly. If you're looking for a remote, peaceful, and wildlife-rich adventure just outside the reach of the city, False Cape delivers.
Jonathan L — Google review
The east and west dike paths are best on bike, since I learned the hard way that my round-trip was over 10 miles and mostly on gravel roads. The scenery is gorgeous and there were some waterfowl but not much else. The gift shop at False Cape has lovely bathrooms and water refill station, in addition to a line of rocking chairs out front. The path to the ocean is dirt for a bit then deep sand, but there is a bike rack on the left just before the primitive campsites; if you bike, I recommend chaining up there and walk to beach a little farther over dunes. Beach is lovely and has amazing seashells!
Marne M — Google review
Beautiful, wild, landscape with basic amenities for campers. There was a shower, toilet stall, and potable water at the camp site which was nice. Biking is easy until you get to the beach! Bring bug spray and long pants/sleeves!
Bridget F — Google review
Probably my favorite park in the VA system due to the remoteness. You can only get to the park via Hike, Bike, or paying for the guided tour on the tram. The trails though Back Bay are only accessible from April - Sept so after that you have to hike or bike to the park via the beach. Pretty easy if you have a fat tire bike eBike at low tide.
Waveali P — Google review
False Cape State Park offers beautiful and unique scenery, making it a one-of-a-kind destination. However, during our visit, extremely hot weather and biting insects made the bike ride in less enjoyable, especially for families with young children. While the natural beauty is undeniable, visitors should be prepared for challenging conditions depending on the season.
Casey — Google review
Amazing ride with an array of animals! The only downside was the horse flies!! They were the worst I have ever experienced. Highly recommend having bug spray (luckily, we did).
David H — Google review
Love riding our bikes here, there is alot to see along the trails although I highly recommend a fat bike for the sand! We were able to ride our bike down to the border of N.C. and back.
Wayne J — Google review
Such a Beautiful ride. Kind of a hidden Gem almost. There's so many different paths to take. Me and my father rode e bikes and loves it. The scenery was awesome, saw a ton of turtles and a few snakes and then out of no where there was False cape visiting center that you can stop and visit grab a snake and drink. Definitely will be back.

Ocean Breeze Waterpark is a vibrant oasis located just two miles south of the Oceanfront in Virginia Beach, making it an ideal destination for families seeking adventure and fun. Since its opening in 1974, this water park has become a beloved summer retreat, welcoming visitors from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
Wonderful customer service! We have been season pass holders for the last 2 seasons and we love the water park! Our favorite event so far was the Dog Day event, and our puppy absolutely loved it! Recently, we had an unexpected experience trying to attend their adult night event, and when we contacted customer service about it, they took our feedback seriously, were very understanding and issued us a credit towards our event tickets. We were so pleased with the customer service interaction and appreciated their time and help with our issue! Will continue to be season pass holders for sure!

Unbelievable. And not in the good way. My girlfriend and I started off thinking this was a good little waterpark. But then disaster struck. As we walked on the blazing hot surface to go up to the slides, we could see right at the top that there was a weight limit. I’ve never had an issue with weight limits on rides before, so we didn’t think anything of it. That was until we saw it was a 250lb per rider and 400lb per 2-person group limit. I myself weigh about 260lbs and my girlfriend weights a little over 150lbs. We were turned away only at the top once we got weighed and were embarrassed in front of many groups. We then realized that the weight limit was the same for almost every slide in the park. The only things we could do were the lazy river and the wave pool which was filled with kids. I am 19 and a little above average size for a 6’1” guy (picture in description for reference) and when I went online to purchase tickets, even after looking over all policies, there was no statements of weight limits, only height! I talked to multiple employees to try to get a refund since we had only been there for 30 minutes, but they said there was nothing they could do about it and laughed at us. I feel so embarrassed and even customer support has been ignoring us. Please beware if you are a little heavier than “normal”

We came here with the Stennis crew. Had an amazing time there was something for everyone. Normally I'm ready to leave a water park when it gets to hot but there were so many cabanas to take a quick nap and hide from the heat. The food was ok the same as any theme park food. Not sure if you can bring food in but we'd probably bring food to go eat and come back in. Also don't make the mistake we did with the souvenir cups ...apparently you get a free slushie with the unlimited drink pass if you purchase the souvenir cup. What we didn't know is that you have to purchase the cup from the gift shop or the slush stand to get the free slushie for the day but you can get regular fountain drinks there...made no sense. All together though, we'd come back.

This is my 3rd year having season passes and the meal plan for me and my family!! We go at least twice a week and love it! It is like a vacation every time we go! I love the Friday night movies! I have yet to run across a staff member who was not polite and friendly! I highly recommend this for locals and tourists! You will not be sorry! There is something for everybody!

I was so excited to attend this water park as it is our last summer adventure for the year 2025. But unfortunately all that excitement got short lived, it was dashed with embarrassment. The weather was perfect, the walk to the slide was met with great enthusiasm. My daughter and I were both so excited to ride together, we laughed and chided each other about not screaming or closing our eyes or holding on for dear life. We got to the top, waited in line and observing others being ushered to the mouth of each side. It was finally our turn and as we stepped forward we were told to stand on the scale. I repeated the instructions which was given and ask why do I need to stand on a scale? I was told “ you need to meet the weight requirement” I interrupted her by asking again I did not meet the weight criteria for the ride. The attendant looked at her partner then at me and said that’s the rule. So we stepped on the scales and again the attendant looked at their partner and boldly say “ you are not allowed because you are over the weight criteria”. My daughter looked at me with hurt, and disappointment in her eyes and asked “ mommy what’s wrong” I had to usher her away and return the way we came. I had to explain “ due to my overweight- fat “ I was denied. My daughter cried, because we were denied the fun, the thrill of the ride due to me being overweight. How much lazy river or wave pool can one enjoy? We did not. This was our worst experience ever…!!

I visited Ocean Breeze Waterpark today for a special event with my Navy command and had a great time! The park had amazing water slides, a fun wave pool, and a relaxing lazy river. I tried almost everything and really enjoyed myself. I'm glad my command offered discounted tickets and meal vouchers—regular admission, season passes, and food can get pretty expensive. I had a turkey leg, which was delicious, and the fries and chicken tenders were really good too. The park is definitely family-friendly, with a dedicated kiddie pool and small slides for younger children. While I had fun during my 4 to 5 hours there, I’m not sure I’d return anytime soon due to the high cost and limited variety of attractions. I wish there were a bit more to do for the price. Overall, it's a fun place to visit and a great spot for families. I would recommend it for a one-time experience, especially if you're able to get discounted tickets.

I can't wait for this place to open again, because we just had so much fun with my family here. The slides are just crazy and not just for kids! It's really nice to spend some quality time here as a family and behave like a child again. Great food options, it's easy to spend a whole day here.

Ocean Breeze is an amazing water park. They have plenty to keep you busy and good food options. I love the way the park is set up and that they offer complimentary life jackets for all children that may need them. I felt safe letting my 12 and 13 y.o. children walk to the slides by themselves, there was ample Lifeguard, employee and security presence around the area. The wave pool and lazy river were great as well. The appearance of the wave pool looks like "the beach", that's a nice touch. I like that the depth is not too much, parents can walk through the lazy river with their kids if they don't want to float. The price of admission is reasonable in my opinion, compared to other larger theme parks. I recommend renting a Cabana if you plan to be there all day, well worth it. The Cabana offers seating, a table, television, curtains to pull for privacy, a ceiling fan, mini fridge with about 4 cold bottles of water included. The total for 4 tickets, with Cabana rental was about $400. We did order food and drinks in the park at an additional cost, which again in my opinion is fair pricing compared to other big theme parks in the area. I definitely recommend this water park if you visit the VA Beach area.

First time visitor myself and my mom. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would most certainly return. We drove from North Carolina and this museum was our first stop. The exhibits were intriguing and so well put together! The interior, exterior and the grounds surrounding the building are also very beautiful to look at. 10/10 experience.

Great place to spend an afternoon. When we visited, we enjoyed an exhibit that had school-aged kiddos' work on display (Included our favorite pieces in my attached pics). The other exhibits were interesting. They were mainly focused on climate changes and the environment. The museum is large and also has a theater within it where I watched a commentary about the pieces on display. They also sell food and beverages which are not permitted in the exhibits.
Strawberry F — Google review
This museum tries to be historical and artistic at the same time but completely fails at both. The best part was the children’s art section. Clearly art has nothing to do with taste. I want my money back. The chiluly was pretty cool though but i recommend looking at it from the glass outside the building in-order to avoid paying for a ticket.

Wow, what a great show! Just saw the DUKE RILEY exhibit. What a treat. It was the highlight of our visit to Virginia Beach.

Very nice place to go and has interactive activities for children. I thought it was a very cute place to go especially for relaxing. It was free for us to go in since the Virginia Beach City pays for this place to stay open and up. It’s a small but good Museum for your day on vacation when you want to relax and just enjoy art and what it offers to your mind. It had different types of art too, painting, prints, sculpture, and videos! All loved and appreciated. They also have a cute gift shop full of books and stickers! Very nice place and would come back again one day in the future.

My family (children 10 & 13) stopped by here on a Sunday. The building itself is quite pretty, and the staff was just lovely. The entire place takes no more than an hour to go through, but it was a really pleasant hour. Aside from the main exhibit, there was quite a bit of student art on display. There were also three art/crafting stations that we all enjoyed working at as we made our way through the galleries. I think it was a lovely little stop - peaceful compared to the surrounding beach area. We saw people of all ages walking through, including families with young kids. Highly recommended.
Amanda — Google review
Very cool and amazing art. The nice person who acknowledged us when we walked in was helpful in making us feel welcome. This person directed us to start to the right. As we began the children's art was fabulous. Then we proceeded to the main gallery art exhibit.
Kevin L — Google review
A lovely collection of contemporary art, including local artists. I’ll keep this on my “must see” list for future visits to VB. Easy parking, free entry, and friendly staff and volunteers. Photography (no flash) is allowed. The space was bright and airy and felt much larger that it looked from the exterior. I loved the benches and chairs tucked here and there, great spaces to enjoy the exhibits or sit with your sketch pad and create. The museum is the anchor to the ViBe Creative District.

The Virginia Beach Boardwalk is a bustling 3-mile stretch along the Atlantic Ocean, offering a vibrant atmosphere with an array of restaurants, shops, and entertainment options. It provides a close-up view of the coastline without getting sandy and presents opportunities to dine at delicious eateries, shop at friendly vendors, and enjoy lively nightlife during the summer months. Visitors can capture memorable moments while indulging in local cuisine or engaging in activities like biking or rollerblading along the boardwalk.
This was a great beach. We arrived in time for sunrise and really had alot of room to play catch and build a sand United States Capitol building. lol. It was busy by about 11 but still room to play. Everyone was really nice. Highly suggest parking in one of the garages. We used the 9th Street garage and paid $15 for 6 hours whereas the closer private lots were charging $70 plus per day. Also, may I suggest bringing breakfast items as most of the restaraunts did not open until 9 or 10 AM. I hope you enjoy your visit.
TonyNConnor C — Google review
It was not as I expected (I came on mid August 2025). No public showers found or at least no clear direction about where to find them. Because of this the bathrooms are dirty with sand because people change in these even though the bathrooms have a sign that it is not allowed to change there. About the beach: the waves are big and they break just by the shoreline so they come with lot of sand, also it can be deep depending on how the waves is. I dit not enjoy it. However, the view is nice, the family atmosphere, and there lots of children which were tossed abruptly back and forth by the waves. I was surprised how some of them were bold to stand such waves. I enjoyed being buried on wet sand tho. Although, the waves will reach far in the shoreline. Parking is okay. Just $20 for a day parking which is better than in other places. There was a lifeguard in the area who was very good at their job. People may enjoy the airplanes passing by with huge advertising banners, or people jumping on their “parachutes” over the water. Just being by the water has a special effect on humans so it was still refreshing and felt good.

One of the best oceanfront boardwalks on the east coast. There is a separate path for people with bicycles and skateboards. Lots of restaurants and hotels line the boardwalk. The guests have a great view of the Atlantic. Beautifully paved and well maintained at all times. The Neptune Statue close to 31st street is a major attraction. All in all, a must visit for adults and kids. Just walk around and enjoy the awesome atmosphere

Very easy walk with lots to see. Great little shops and perfect view of the beach. It was very windy when I was there. The did have some bands playing in the area too. Overall a nice relaxing evening.

This beach is a gem! The weather is amazing, and the boardwalk is beautiful. There’s an entrance fee for the boardwalk, but public parking costs $15, or you can find street parking for a minimal fee if you’re lucky.

Wow, I'm at a loss for words. This beach is beautiful, well-kept, and well done to the Governor and mayor here. The Governor and the mayor of Atlantic City need to take note. The beach and benches were cleaned and quiet before 12 PM. No one was sleeping on the benches or on the walkway, just quiet. The workers were working overnight to have it ready for the next day. Job well done, and a special thanks to all the employees who clean at night and keep the beach and sidewalks clean. Thank you.

The main mountain, Mount Trashmore, stands at 60 feet tall and offers opportunities for hiking and picnicking. This eco-friendly space also includes multi-use pathways for walking and cycling.
I was looking to run several flat miles and this place delivered. It’s certainly a popular place. I would actually take my family here since there is an awesome playground area. Yes, this park is ideal for dogs too. Each loop I did was a mile and it was wide enough to pass people with ease. Go check it out!

Came here to visit all the way from Jersey. Beautiful park has a playground a nice dock to walk on as well as a long staircase and beautiful grass area. Expected there to be more to do. It was Saturday morning so a medium size crowd. Overall nice little stop if needed to kill time or looking for a nice quiet place to walk

The park was clean the sheltered was reserved tables were set up. The park and planning personnel was very helpful Brenda Torkilsome very professional and easy to work with. My only complaint a little cumbersome for senior to walk to shelter. We had shelter 1. The park ranger did come to try to accommodate some seniors.

Needs to be a national landmark for our country. It is so nice to see how one city made a decision to make somebody else's trash into a goldmine for kids and families. The park does need more cleanup after the cute little geese, as they come to the highest part of the mountain, and play with their families too. But in the evening the views are over a lake on one side and a highly viewable play area for kids on the other side of the mountain. There is a track the runs all around both sides of the mountain as well. Park is equipped with separate public bathrooms. Covered picnic table /barbecue pavilions, a skate park, and a stage for outdoor concerts too. Ample free parking. This is a PET FRIENDLY PARK. Closes at or around sunset. Great place for outdoor fun and I highly recommend it.

Beautiful park with restrooms, vending machines, and water bottle filling stations and water fountains. Stunning views from atop the mountain that is hard to believe is filled with decomposing trash. Walking trails are pavement. There are alot of steps leading up to the mountain. I think my kid counted 70 or so steps

Waterman's Surfside Grille is a historic cottage located along the 3-mile-long boardwalk in Virginia Beach, offering stunning beach views and a casual, energetic atmosphere. With over 40 years of experience, this beachside mainstay serves up Chesapeake seafood and grill fare. Indulge in favorites like she-crab soup, crab cake sandwiches, fish tacos, shrimp and grits, and their signature Volcano Nachos.
This place was pretty sweet. Wait time wasn’t awful, but place was packed. Server was nice, attentive, and had an extensive knowledge of the menu. The she crab soup was delicious and definitely worth the price. The burger was delicious, and the waterfront view tied everything together nicely. Prices were very modest for the value, overall definitely a great pick for a solid oceanfront dinner.

Walked in and went straight to the bar. Super clean and chill atmosphere. Valet parking and the inside dining faced the boardwalk with the beach in the background. My bartender Chloe recommended the Waterman’s Pasta for a full seafood experience. I’m glad she did! The noodles were perfect, the sauce was creamy and the seafood was huge scallops jumbo shrimp and delicious sausage and a bunch more ingredients. I ate all of it and ordered a piece of Key Lime Pie to-go. Perfect lunch!

Our third visit here this week. Once again everything was great. Peel and eat shrimp appetizer was very good and plentiful. The she crab soup was very good as well. The dinner entrees were wonderful as well. We are going to miss this place.

AMAZING! Sorry, guys, I only gave you five stars because it wouldn't let me put ten stars... I don't even know where to start honestly. What an amazing place, amazing food and amazing atmosphere. Waitresses are very knowledgeable. Staff is very friendly and very quick. Seated immediately got our food within fifteen minutes of ordering, and from what we observed just about everybody else was on the same fifteen minutes from sitting down to getting their food. (Off Season) It would be very easy to go to $50 a person, but we only spent about $30 a person. I'll tell you I don't even like seafood in general. But the She Crab Soup was to die for!!!! They made a permanent fan, and every time we come to the beach we will be going there at least one of the seven days for dinner or lunch it won't matter which. Cute little gift store. Some things are affordable. Some things are you better have some money but either way worth a visit, very cute unique gifts. A couple of baskets of on sale t shirts, 15$. They have very adorable bracelets by the register for 5 dollars pretty unique. The other under special events was they have a trivia night. It being october, it is halloween themed. Did not participate.

Monday evening we had dinner and had an excellent time. Kaitlyn was our absolutely amazing server and she gave us great recommendations. Their crush drinks were tasty. The scallops appetizer was the best scallops we have ever had. For our entree the vegetable medley complimented the crab meat and shrimp along with the scallops. The dessert was well crafted. The key lime pie was just right and the crush cake was warm and fluffy. 10/10 would recommend.

Sunday Brunch was SOLID! Tasted great, service was great, view and location was great! I ordered the Crab’s Benedict and it was flavorful! I loved their Cinnamon Sticky Bun and sweetness was perfectly paired with their large mug of coffee. It was a great place to grab food with friends. When we ate here, the weather was perfect and sitting besides the open windows was so nice with a view of the ocean and boardwalk!

Great restaurant. From the start, my family and I were welcomed. I even wore the same outfit as the valet on my birthday and they were so kind to take a picture with me. They are always sweet to my wife and daughter. Service was amazing as always. She crab soup is the best in town and the shrimp and grits special was amazing. Also, try the bacon wrapped scallops if possible. Always a good dish to try. 10/10

On vacation and Waterman's was recommended for good seafood. What an understatement. It was amazing. We were seated quickly. Our server, Samantha P, greeted us with a smile and took our order. The appetizers were outstanding! Muscles were delicious. So sweet and melted in my mouth! The bacon wrapped scallops were also perfectly cooked. The bacon crispy and the scallops were tender and delicious. Main course was lump crab cakes. Probably the best I have had. No fillers, just delicious crab perfectly seasoned. If you haven't been here, I highly recommend you make it a must go to for an outstanding meal.

Asian fusion restaurant
Orion's Roof is a stylish rooftop restaurant located atop the Marriott Virginia Beach Oceanfront, offering breathtaking 360-degree views of Virginia Beach and the Atlantic Ocean. The elegant rooftop-garden setting provides a perfect backdrop for savoring Asian-fusion cuisine crafted by Chef Hisashi Araki, featuring a blend of fresh Asian flavors with European and Western techniques in line with Japanese-Peruvian Nikkei tradition.
Reservation only, upscale (even though you'll see people in beach attire), and very nice on the inside of this 23rd top floor restaurant. The food was very good. The portions were a bit small for my taste but the presentation was outstanding. The view is the biggest draw for everyone that visits Virginia Beach. There aren't too many places where you can overlook the beach from this height, especially with the military restrictions on building height. This place will cost quite a bit for its Asian inspired cuisine. I took my wife there to celebrate her birthday and the celebration with two appetizers, one cocktail, one mocktail, one glass of wine, and two entrees racked up $170 before the tip. The desserts looked good but we chose to pass for a walk on the beach and some shopping.

Fantastic restaurant on the 23rd floor of the Marriott Virginia Beach Oceanfront Resort. The food was delicious and presented beautifully. The service was good and friendly staff. Nice atmosphere with many windows looking out onto the beach. I recommend reservations since it is a popular location. While we were there it was a little noisy.

What a wonderful dining experience. The view the service and food all superb. My meal was the salmon which I strongly suggest, as it was perfectly cooked on a cauliflower steak slice with black rice. I also had the champagne cocktail which was enhanced with tones of ginger and other flavors. Very delicate. The dessert was just awesome. I will dream of their shambaya toast.

Weekend getaway. 10pm reservation was wild lol, but we had a great time! Sushi was excellent and fresh. We also came back for brunch around noon, it was excellent. The views of the beach were great from our table! Our server Erin was super sweet and helpful!

My wife and I recently visited, and I have to say wow! We started with the Pork Pot Stickers, and they were spot on yummy. We also had the Orion’s House Salad, and we really enjoyed that as it was very delicious. For entrees I had Singapore Rice Noodles, and my wife had the Orion’s Chicken Pad Thai, and both were very tasty. I also had the Yellow Tail Hamachi Jalapeno Roll, which was so good and tasty! I will say the best of this visit was our waitress, Katie!! She was so knowledgeable and went over the menu with very meticulous detail. She also gave us quick tips on what to see looking out the windows. Her excitement and love she expressed for her job is one we shall not forget! I have been to many restaurants, and I don’t remember most of those who served me, but Katie will not be forgotten nor will this restaurant. If you go, I hope you will take time to enjoy the spectacular views and the wonderful employees.

Modern yet classic decor. Beautiful views of the ocean and shoreline. The food was delicious! The coconut chicken curry soup was rich and a little spicy. The pork wontons were crispy and golden. The Son of a Gun cocktail was perfectly balanced sweet and tart.
Kim M — Google review
I came here almost 2 years ago with my daughter as she visited from out of town. We were disappointed with less than mediocre food so I didn’t even leave a review. Today I figured to give another try, maybe the food has improved…??! Unfortunately I’d rate the service a 3: had to wait for more than 5 minutes for the hostess to get to the check-in desk/area.The server seemed rushed when she asked if am ready to order. By this time they already ran out of avocado toast. I ordered the Hong Kong braised pork bao. It was disappointing. The bao’s weren’t warm and fluffy soft, they were already stiff room temperature when served. The meat was under seasoned, they put raw jalapeños which would have been better pickled (now that’s a tip which I could go to the bank with), and there wasn’t any sauce, it was very dry. And this for $19 plus tax. I don’t think Orion’s redeemed themselves after these years. I guess you just pay for the nice view and the parking validation.

The menu features delectable dishes and drinks, with the desserts being a highlight, including perfectly executed crème brûlée with hints of peach and the indulgent mile-high cavalier cake.
The outside patio room is a beautiful, well-lit area to sit and have brunch or lunch. The staff was very welcoming and we enjoyed every bite! La la was our server and she greeted us with the biggest smile, complimented us over and over and even cracked a few jokes. Laughed so hard that I dropped my fork, which was promptly replaced by another smiling server 🙂 We ordered omelettes with fresh fruit & sourdough bread. The omelettes were huge, generously portioned and well-made and seasoned. I could taste the quality of choice ingredients in my omelette. From the choice of cheese, to the quality of the meats and veggies. The berry jam that came was with our brunch was to die for!! I was alllll about that jelly! Coffee was excellent and the cup and saucer were beautiful! They even have an house-made bourbon cream (which I added to my coffee) ☕️ Wow, it was good! I also ordered a mimosa! Can’t wait to come back and try more items from their brunch, lunch and dinner menu!

Sean, our brunch server, was funny, attentive, personable, and gave excellent recommendations for local eateries. The food was prompt and the menu expansive. House made baked goods 10/10! Room service was charcuterie and cheese and raw oysters. Dinner was charred octopus, wood fired oysters, scallops and seared tuna. I would eat the tuna dish every day if I could! A very extravagant, special experience. Can’t wait to return !

Rob G — Google review
We were walking the block and decided to try it out for dinner without looking at reviews, menu or knowing anything about the place and what a great place we chose. It was a Friday night and insanely loud which was the people just all wanting to talk as loudly as possible over other people drinks flowing happily. We were seated in a booth far away but the noise level was still up there. The waitstaff here seems absolutely top notch. Especially for younger people to have the work ethic and service provided is getting rarer and rarer to find. Well done to the owners you can tell they train them right and pay them well. Drinks and food ordered swiftly, brought in timely manner and checked on at what I perceived as perfectly timed intervals. A very pleasant dining experience and the food was excellent and what I would describe as reasonable for a popular tourist spot on the water. My salad was top 5 best salads I’ve ever had. Great combo of goat cheese, almonds, dates, apples, cucumbers and carrots with arugula and spring mix and a really well made dressing and grilled plump shrimp. Fresh and flavorful. Husband enjoyed his burger and fries. Great drink menu variety and beers. Will definitely be dreaming of that salad and when I can visit to eat it again. All the meals around us smelled amazing.

After reading tons of reviews about this restaurant, I decided to stop in for dinner and I wasn't disappointed!! The atmosphere was laid back. The service was above and beyond. The food was absolutely DELICIOUS. Highly recommend the steak bites on the appetizers. The hush puppies were some of the best. I understand why their burgers are rated the best at the beach. Highly recommend this restaurant to EVERYONE, you won't be disappointed!!

Located on the boardwalk, Chix is a cute all American so food spot. They have an area that borders the boardwalk so you can look out as you eat, a bar area and more of an indoor seating area. The food overall wasn’t too bad and the prices were reasonable. I got the fish sandwich and it was ok. The breading was thin and barely held together once I started eating it. Taste wise, it was not bad with the tartar sauce but without was pretty bland. My friend got Mac and cheese for her son and heads up, it’s Kraft that has been up charged. Our server however killed it! She was so attentive and despite being very busy she didn’t skip a beat and even took a second to talk to my friend who was engaging in conversation with her!

We always go to Chix when we are in VA Beach. We went on a Saturday night and it was extremely busy. We had to wait 30 minutes for a table. Of course, we got our Crushes. We tried the Hushpuppies as an appetizer and the crab cake sandwiches and chicken tacos. Food was delicious. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. There was a band playing outside in the gazebo.

The food quality was great, the amount for my plate with the shrimp, scallop and crab meat at the bottom could have had more. And the alcohol drink was very weak like there was no alcohol in it. But the view was nice while we had lunch.

What a wonderful evening at The Porch. My son took my daughter (his sister) and myself out to dinner, an outside table with the sun setting over the water. The food!!! My son must really love us to bring us here because he doesn’t even eat seafood! His burger was huge and delicious. The sushi boat was fresh, well made and oh sooo good! The oysters were also so fresh and sweet. For drinks, I would recommend the creamy espresso martini for all the martini enthusiasts. Our waiter, Frances, was very attentive, thorough and friendly. She several recommendations and we tried some of them (you can’t eat everything) every dish was a WINNER! Our food came out quickly considering how busy they were tonight. The pictures do not do the food justice, everything was incredible! We are already planning our next visit here and hope Sabrina will be our server!

Unfortunately we visited at night so we couldn't enjoy the views. But from what I can tell, there are very beautiful surroundings. The atmosphere inside was very clean and open. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was amazing! Nice portion sizes and very flavorful. Highly recommend for a date or special occasion. We will definitely visit again.

Me and hubby went here for a date night. We got placed next to a patio window so we can watch the sunset and look at the water rippling around the dock. The restaurant is very pretty inside and has multiple bars to sit in. I ordered the she crab soup and the shrimp scampi. Very delicious. The sauce was perfect and the shrimp was firm. Not overcooked though, very juicy. I had it with bread instead of pasta and it was great for getting all that sauce soaked up. Left my plate clean. Hubby had a salmon dish and he really liked it too. Friendly staff. Clean seating. Quick service.

Absolutely amazing. The Porch is our good to for any date nights, anniversary, or just because. Ethan was our server tonight and was super helpful and kind! I will always recommend this place! The food is so so good. (The Mahi special with gnocchi was my favorite thing I’ve ever gotten over the years I definitely recommend having it again!)

This spot is perfect for enjoying a sunset with drinks. The food I tried was decent, but the service left much to be desired—very slow and not particularly friendly. My friend and I happened to catch the sunset while we were there for happy hour, and we loved that experience. However, the service really didn't impress us at all. It felt like there were plenty of staff around, but none were eager to assist. All we wanted was to relax and enjoy our drinks.

We had the most amazing dinner here. We came on a Tuesday night maybe 30 min. before sunset. We were seated right away outside right next to the water. We could not have had a better view of the setting sun. We started with the she-crab soup which was some of the best I've ever had. I ordered the beet and fried goat cheese salad with chicken for my main meal. It was outstanding. I could eat that every day and not get sick of it. Plus the chicken was cooked to perfection: juicy and tender. My boyfriend ordered the French Dip au Jus and fries which was delicious. The prime rib was top-notch. I wanted to order the pistachio cake for dessert but was just too full. Our server was a doll-I sadly don't remember her name but she was very good. She cleared our dirty dishes and checked in on us enough to make sure everything was good.

Excellent from start to end!! I have say, this probably the best food I EVER tasted, especially in this area. I’m not even exaggerating. I made a reservation for my boyfriend. They surprised us by printing his name on the menu wishing him a happy birthday. The food was so beautifully made really and truly. And for dessert- I HIGHLY recommend “The Pear”. Beautiful experience. You will NOT be disappointed.

This was my first time going here and I loved it! The tuna crudo was better than the one that I had at Wakuda in Vegas. The attention to details and the care for the ingredients was awesome. I'll be back for sure.

Wow! Can’t believe this place does not have a higher rating!! First time here for our anniversary but it will certainly not be our last! While the menu could be described as simple, I would say that makes the execution even more difficult. The chefs here did an amazing job at delivering well crafted, seasoned, and harmonious dishes. Add the more upscale atmosphere and service, it was a delightful evening. A special thank you to Alea, our server, who was so sweet, knowledgeable, attentive, and caring to make us feel special both as guests and for our anniversary. More on the food - We opted to go for the 4-course tasting menu (x2) and enjoyed: raw oysters, homemade burrata, linguini w/ clams, short rib rigatoni, lamb lion, chicken piccata, tiramisu, and valhrona chocolate pudding. We left stuffed to say the least!! Felt it was worth the price and would do it again! If your looking to save a bit though while still getting to go out, they do have a very nice selection for happy hour at a lower rate! We don’t get out often, so thank you Terrapin for a great evening!!

We were in town vacationing for the week and my daughter mentioned that she had gone there for date night. They raved about how delicious the food was, the atmosphere, the wine, and their wonderful server Courtney. It was so good she made reservations for the family to go, and it was worth it! The food was amazing and appropriately filling, and we were lucky enough to have Courtney as our server. She was warm, friendly, knowledgeable, and a pleasure. Wonderful experience overall, would make it a point to eat here again if we are in VA Beach.

My first time here, I ordered the charcuterie cheese board. So delicious!! The fried chicken was good. With peach cherry crisp and vanilla gelato for dessert. The tart cherry soda was good, but the refill was terrible. It tasted like vinegar, so I could not drink it.I recommend the restaurant.

From the moment we arrived, Ebone made our experience unforgettable. Her service was absolutely delightful — warm, attentive, and genuine. She took such great care of me and my partner, making us feel completely welcomed and valued. Her recommendations were spot on (clearly she knows that menu inside and out!), and everything we tried was beyond delicious. We’ve had some terrible experiences with some servers. Honestly, we’ll be coming back not just for the amazing food, but specifically for her exceptional service. Thank you, Ebone, for making our night so special!

I visited Sep 3rd this year but I’ve been so busy traveling. I definitely wanted to make sure I left a review for this beautiful place. I was blessed with having Melynda as my waitress, she has an amazing personality and extremely helpful. She made sure I was well taken care of; she was very knowledgeable about the whole menu and gave me the perfect recommendations from the wine to my meal. Thank you again for all of your hospitality Melynda 🙏🏽 The cherry on top was the great view of the beach. All of the staff that I encountered were so kind and welcoming. I highly recommend visiting!

The ambiance is trendy casual. The view to the ocean is breathtaking. It's fall so there's an overcast and bit chilly but you have access to the patio and lawn that has plenty of lounge chairs to just enjoy the view and take in the ocean breeze. I had a reservation but first time here so GPS took me to an area right behind thd Cavalier. My reservation was at 11am, didn't realize at 11:30am the turnover to lunch menu. I was fine with that of course, instead of ordering the watermelon drink, I ordered the watermelon and tomato salad. I also ordered a cup of thd chicken curry and brown rice soup. The server Sara was nice and friendly. She even explained it will take 15 minutes to serve my order due to service turnover, and asked if I want to have a muffin of something while I waited. The food: mixed reviews here!!! The watermelon and tomato salad was def a 2. The watermelon was definitely overripe, didn't taste as freshly cut, it's like cut watermelon sitting in the fridge for a couple of days! And the salad was swimming in dressing which overpowered and made the arugula soggy! The redeeming item was the chicken coconut curry soup with brown rice. There was a good portion of chicken, just right amount of curry, very satisfying.

Pizza was super underwhelming - tasted like pre-charred cardboard and the toppings were really tasteless. $18 for a 10” flavorless pizza is a bit shocking. My friend got mahi-mahi and said it was good, but was small. Also - their fruit that is guest facing is moldy and turned.

Beautifully set restaurant with relaxing atmosphere. My server Melynda was so nice and attentive. Mid way through I asked to move outside (I know what a pain in the rear) and she gave up one of her tables to accompany me. (Yes I tipped her well) I was so appreciative because I really didn’t want anyone else but her. The staff here were kind as well from the greeting to the table move. Definitely going to be coming back

The restaurant also boasts a robust cocktail menu with drinks made from freshly squeezed juice or crushes. Not much to say but “Come here to eat.” Period. Amazing drinks. Amazing food. The plates are generous and the staff are really attentive. A must-try if you are down here. Standouts were the rum mimosa and the Benedict, but all were extremely tasty.

This just might’ve became my new fav go to brunch & drinks spot! Went here Monday for birthday brunch around 1 pm; no wait time and all of the staff were friendly, communicative, and full of personality 10/10. Inside was a chill ambiance; not too loud or quiet. Started with the Parmesan spinach and crab dip (10/10) flavorful, fresh, and I loved the fried pita bread it came with; so delicious I wanted to order another serving! Also had the Fried chicken and waffle meal (8/10) I think the chicken was amazing; juicy, crunchy skin, good flavor and the tots were tasty as well. The waffle was lackluster for me though especially when I saw the chocolate chips; I was expecting them to be cooked within the waffle not just thrown on top and barely melted. The eggs needed seasoning; even with the cheese, they were flavorless. Besides those couple misses, I still enjoyed my meal. For drinks, I had the Raspberry sorbet mimosa (9/10) this was new for me and I actually really liked it. Also had a Big jumbo mimosa with cranberry juice (10/10) delicious and so fun/unique; more than enough shared between me and my sister! I also got to taste the “Baymosa” my mom had and I’m def going back for that one! Added this place to my go to spots list! Definitely coming back for sure! My overall rate of experience : 9/10

The food was SO GOOD that I forgot to get pictures. My husband and I are from Texas but with him drilling here in Norfolk once a month, we sometimes get to check out local spots. He has been raving about this spot and I’m so glad we got a chance to have brunch here. I got the Jamaican Dark Rum French Toast and it was very good. I ordered a side of the garlic Parmesan tots and they were to die for. My husband got the Big Al for the third time because he likes it so much. I tried it and could totally get it next time. There are so many tasty options on the menu it will be heart to choose. My mother in law recently got the crab cake Bennie and raved about it as well. I’m willing to bet that you would be hard pressed to find something less than amazing on this menu. Update: we went again when I was up from Texas and it was fantastic just as it was the first time. I got the apple cider mimosa and the Willis Wharf Special which was delicious while my husband stuck with the Big Al.

First time at this eatery. But what a great service! Each server that passed by made sure we were taken care of. They have great teamwork in place. Shout out to the bartender who prepared my fruity sangria!! Even though it was not on their menu option, it was one of the best one I've tasted. Their food was delicious, too. (ps. If you pop in ASK FOR KENDRA!! She made us the best Carmel latte it was soooo good! We got the Crab Dip appetizer and Lobster Benedict for our entree. I added a side of the Black Forest ham for a lil bit of that Traditional Benedict taste, because i was torn between the 2. I definitely recommend 10/10!

Doc Taylor's Restaurant is a popular brunch spot located in an old cottage that used to be a doctor's office. The restaurant offers a variety of delicious breakfast and lunch options, including Southern eggs, grits, pancakes, biscuits with gravy, and breakfast sandwiches like the signature Doc Taylor. The interior has a cozy old-town feel while the patio seating allows guests to enjoy the sunshine and ocean breeze.
We stopped here for some breakfast before our day out in VB. We were very lucky enough to get to sit at the bar. They were very busy! I really enjoyed watching all the cooks in the kitchen. The chocolate chip pancakes were so good!!! My bf had the French toast, and he said it was really good too! I highly recommend stopping by here! They have amazing food and service!

Finding Doc Taylor’s wasn’t the easiest—tucked away and a little tricky to spot—but once we stumbled across the parking lot and saw the “Parking for Doc Taylor's” we found our way. Once we stepped inside, it was worth it. Our server, Heidi, was excellent—friendly, full of menu knowledge, attentive, and kept things moving with a smile. The coffee came out dark and strong (exactly how it should be), and the $3.50 breakfast cocktails are an absolute steal. The Screwdriver was a great way to start a day of sightseeing. I went with the biscuits & gravy. The portion was huge. Heidi shared the gravy isn't just homemade, it's made fresh to order. It was thick enough to stick to the fork, but not firm or clumpy. I would’ve loved just a bit more seasoning. A side of bacon sealed the deal—crispy, salty perfection. The eggs Benedict were ooey gooey perfection, as well! The vibe is cozy, with a local, off-the-beaten-path feel. Doc Taylor’s is the kind of place you’re glad you tracked down.

We came here because our first choice was very busy. We made a GREAT decision by default. This restaurant is located in a building that was once a hotel and later a doctor's office. The exterior hada "Key West" kind of vibe. We arrived just after 9 a.m. on a Friday morning and the dining room was almost full. We paid for parking before we realized they had a private parking lot. Nigel was our server and was amazing! Our party of 6 ordered omelets, pancakes, eggs and hash browns and eggs Benedict. Everyone was thrilled with their food. The coffee as food and hot, and Nigel never let it get empty. I highly recommended Doc Taylor's for a great breakfast!

My Doc Taylor’s Restaurant experience is very interesting.🥞🥓🍳I grow up at the Virgina Beach Oceanfront. I remembered Seaside Amusement Park, The Virginia Beach Dome, and a two story pink motel. That pink motel is now Doc Taylor’s Restaurant. I first noticed Doc Taylor’s restaurant when I was young riding my bike. I saw groups of people on the front porch and lined up on the side of the two story white building. I thought it was some sort of family gathering. To my surprise they were waiting to eat breakfast and maybe order a Bloody Mary in this cottage style restaurant. I was anxious to eat at Doc Taylor’s. I usually order The Left Side, Doctor Tuttle’s French Toast, or Curry’s Irish Corned Beef Hash. They have great lunch menu options. The food and service is excellent. Located on 23rd Street on Pacific Avenue. Parking located in the rear.

My first time coming here. All the times I've been to Virginia Beach and I didn't know that it was right there in plain sight. If you didn't know it was there you would miss it. It's a little house right in the middle of the block, but when you walk inside it greets you with a powerful punch. It was pretty busy inside today for a Saturday, but we were seated pretty quick. The menu has a lot to choose from and also the prices are very reasonable. I ordered the heart attack and it was very good. You also get large portions of food also. I would definitely come here again and again. The server was very attentive and also remembered everything we ordered without writing one thing down. Great service.

An Unforgettable Dinner at Steinhilber’s – Exceptional from Start to Finish My husband and I recently dined at Steinhilber’s Restaurant, and from the first sip of our cocktails to the last bite of dessert, everything about our evening was absolutely wonderful. The setting is timeless and elegant, nestled in a quiet, scenic spot that makes you feel like you’ve discovered a well-kept secret. It’s the kind of place that makes an ordinary night feel like a special occasion. We started with drinks – I had a pomegranate martini that was both vibrant and perfectly balanced, and my husband enjoyed a refreshing pineapple Moscow mule that had just the right kick. For dinner, I chose the fried red snapper served with mashed potatoes and broccolini, and I can honestly say it was one of the best seafood dishes I’ve had in a long time. The fish was delicately crisp on the outside, flaky and tender on the inside, and the sides complemented it beautifully. My husband ordered a steak cooked medium rare with roasted potatoes and sautéed spinach, and it was flawless – juicy, well-seasoned, and cooked to perfection. We finished the meal with dessert – a warm, comforting apple pie that felt like fall in every bite. I also took home the chocolate lava cake, which didn’t last long once we got home! It was rich, gooey, and totally worth the indulgence. The service throughout the evening was attentive and friendly, and the pacing of the meal allowed us to really enjoy each course without ever feeling rushed. Steinhilber’s is more than just a restaurant – it’s an experience, and one we’ll be happily returning to. Whether you’re celebrating something special or just want an unforgettable meal, this place delivers. Five stars, without question. 😊Will be back for my birthday in a few weeks 😁

Immaculate… I had to start off the review with that one word primarily. From we parked the entire experience was amazing. Me and my wife just got married and this place was a recommendation to us and the pictures do not do it justice. The ambience, the waiter, the waitresses and the views over the pool just made the day that much more special. The food made this one of the greatest restaurants I ever been to and the flavoring took us home. I want to give a loud shout out to the Chef. The wine choice paired with the food was perfect and I would gladly go back and recommend any and everyone to visit this place and this takes us back to the first word used… amazing and immaculate…

Asked a local where to go for dinner and they said without hesitation Steinhilber’s. Said its off the beaten oath, and the end of the road after driving through a housing neighborhood. It’s like eating at someone’s house. They recommended getting a table in the Garden Room since it has windows on 3 sides and has good views. (Also said the fireplace room is also nice but better when it’s cooler out to enjoy the fire). Got a reservation for 2 in the Garden Room. Sure enough, drove through a neighborhood and at the end of the street was the restaurant. Told the hostess we had a reservation and gave her our name. We were escorted to a room and seated. It was extremely crowded. Not in the number of people (there were empty tables) but in how the tables were positioned and guests seated. Tables of 4 were turned on edge and lined up in a single file. There was no way to even pull my chair out without hitting the lady at the table next to ours. We could have easily=y reached across and grabbed anything on their table from ours. Way too crowded. Then I looked around. There weren’t 3 sides of windows, there was a big fireplace. We were seated in the wrong room. Hmmmm. Asked someone if this was the Garden Room and was told no it wasnt. Explained that we made a reservation for the Garden Room. She took us to the garden room where the tables were nicely spaced and lone a behold the only vacant table was a table for 2….OUR TABLE!!!!! Once seated we waited and waited. We had menus from being seated in the other room but no water, no waitress. Waited longer. She finally came by. Brought us water and then things went more smoothly. Known for their fried shrimp with signature sauce I ordered that. My husband got the daily catch which was halibut pan seared and served with spinach vegetable sauce and wild rice. Bread is available with your meal but you must ask for it. The food was very good. The twice baked potato that accompanied the shrimp was delicious. The restaurant serves homemade desserts. Many were tempting. Had the Old Fashioned Apple Pie with vanilla ice cream. It came as a small individual apple pie. Perfect for 2 to share. warm. Flakey crust dusted with sugar and cinnamon and juicy apples inside. Yum.

Norfolk International Airport is a key hub serving the Southeast, conveniently located near Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, and Newport News. It offers a lounge for active and retired military personnel. The airport provides easy access to the picturesque coastal region of Norfolk, known for its historic charm and beautiful wedding venues. Additionally, it's in close proximity to the world's largest naval base, Naval Station Norfolk. Travelers can also easily reach the nearby cruise ship dock from the airport.
Update: 3/5/2025 fly regularly out of ORF the employees are great, friendly and helpful..I love how clean it is including the restrooms, always spotless and fully stocked..the airport itself is easy to get around, it would be nice if there was a few more options with restaurants but only because there usually packed during day hours.. also I appreciate the phone chargers in the seats how convenient if your laid over a while to not have to go to a crowded charging port.. keep up the excellent service! 👍 9/2020 The airport is easier to get to, get around, and the people working there can be very helpful, I have not had a bad time yet, and I've had to fly more than several times in and out of here, each time they were so kind, helpful and showed empathy that is a rarity today. Thank you to all who have helped me each and every time. You have no idea how much it meant and the stress you helped relieve off my mind in a already stressful period, soon to fly out again..I'm grateful it will be from Norfolk International " keep up the wonderful service. This is a great little airport! We flew in from the west coast so arriving and departing we came on last flight in and first flight out. Very friendly, helpful employees at those hours. The airport is small so easy to maneuver. There are a few dining options (Great American Bagel Company for an early breakfast) and plenty of restrooms and charging spots. The airport as a whole was very clean. Thank you for your hospitality!

Norfolk International is a nice, small airport that’s super easy to fly in and out of. I’ve never had any issues flying out of Norfolk check-in and security are always quick, and everything runs smoothly. It’s clean, easy to navigate, and perfect for regional or connecting flights. I’m not totally sure how “international” it really is, there don’t seem to be any incoming international flights, and maybe one outgoing one to the Bahamas, but it still does the job well. Overall, it’s a great little airport convenient, efficient, and stress-free. Thanks for watching! ✈️😄

We normally go to Richmond Airport (RIC) but we got a great deal going to Saint Thomas and had to take it up. While I didn’t like the airport as much as Richmond due to the cramped check in area and more confusing layout, I did enjoy this airport. The check in was somewhat difficult and we got lost but the rest of the airport was modern and easy to get around. Also, the staff somewhat rude to us. There were plenty of food options and parking was easy to get to.

I just arrived. Flew in from Palm Beach County, FL. Check im time is 4 PM. I called ahead and told them I am flying in - and approximately when I would arrive (11:45). Since check out time is 11:00 AM they told me it would be more likely they would have a room ready for me around 1-2 PM. That in conjunction with the fact that they were sold out last night made it difficult to have rooms ready early. But ... since I communicated with the 48 huts in advance - they had a room ready for me when I arrived!!! Beautiful room too overlooking the Navy Shipyard and the bay. The scenery is beautiful but because it is overcast - not the full impact. Ready for 21/2 days of meetings, motivation and memories (making new ones).

Going through security was easy and not a hassle. Airport is very easy to navigate with staff ready to help. But do keep in mind that some restaurants or shops are either only on the before or pass the security. I make that an emphasis on such a smaller airport where unlike larger ones there can be multiple of a brand and yeah. Great experience will come again 👍
