HI Lake Louise Alpine Centre

Mentioned on
5 lists
Hostel
The HI Lake Louise Alpine Centre offers simple accommodations in a mountain hostel with free WiFi and bike storage. It's a quieter alternative to Banff, making it a great base for exploring the Canadian Rockies. The center provides various options for spending nights in Lake Louise and the surrounding area, including a restaurant and two kitchens. Visitors can enjoy activities like hiking to Sunset Pass from Norman Lake Campground or booking cost-effective accommodation with multiple beds.
We ended up at this hostel by chance – and what a wonderful surprise! 😊 Gabby had already been super kind and helpful in her emails before we arrived, and she even gave us an amazing yoga session while we were there. The class was fantastic and so relaxing. Gabby is such a warm, open, and friendly person – we even met her again later on a hike and were so happy to see her! We wish her all the best and hope she can stay in Canada for as long as she dreams. 🌞🧘‍♀️🇨🇦

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. The rooms were very clean, and most of the staff were kind and helpful. The bathroom was also clean and comfortable to use. However, I had a very unpleasant experience in the hotel restaurant. One male server (with short or bald hair) was rude. His tone was harsh when taking orders, and he placed the plates down roughly. He also seemed to always have an angry expression when dealing with guests, which made me feel uncomfortable. All the other staff were friendly, but this one person’s attitude really affected my dining experience negatively. Because of this, I do not plan to return to the restaurant. Overall, the hotel was good, but this issue needs improvement.

My stay at the hostel was excellent. The price was very affordable. Very clean, common areas had lots of windows, lovely. The kitchen was very spacious, very clean and updated. The showers were perfect, had just been updated with lots of hot water which was appreciated. I would highly recommend staying at this hostel. Thank you .

This hostel was within our price range, great location near lake louise! The rooms were clean and comfortable, kitchen and washrooms were also clean. The environment around the hostel was mostly chill and quiet. I would stay here again!

I stayed at HI Lake Louise for a week and had an amazing experience. I was staying in a 4-bed ladies dorm, with washroom inside the dorm.(it feels like a hotel with really good Price!)I want to give a special thank you to Kailey at the front desk (the tall white girl with dark blonde hair)— she was incredibly helpful throughout my stay and went above and beyond to make me feel welcome. She even helped cook my meals, which I truly appreciated. The hostel itself is clean, cozy, and in a great location, but it’s the staff like Kailey who really make the stay special. Highly recommend!
Bev C — Google review
Paid $100 for 1 night stay. The location is convenient and the beds are comfy, however if you don’t have earplugs be prepared to have the worst sleep of your life (because you won’t sleep). I know better than to not bring earplugs when staying in a hostel, but I unfortunately forgot. Someone rolled into our 4P women’s dorm after midnight and woke us all up by turning on the lights, then snored SO loud (I’m not kidding, it was awful) and then had their alarm go off 5 times— hitting snooze every time. I didn’t get any sleep because they do not provide earplugs here or have an option to buy them at the counter or vending machine… also the vending machine sells condoms but not ear plugs? Interesting. I basically paid $100 to lie in a bed awake all night listening to someone saw logs. Don’t be like me.
Cole F — Google review
I was pleasantly surprised at how nice this hostel is. This is my first stay at the Hi Hostel chain. We stayed in a private room with shared bath. Theshowers have very hot water and the beds and pillows are super comfortable. The staff was very friendly.
Laura J — Google review
We arrived a little before 4 pm, which is the check-in time, and weren’t able to get our keys, I guess because the room wasn’t ready. Then we went for a walk and came back at 5:30 pm, but didn’t find anyone at the reception who could give us the keys. We also tried calling all the numbers on the website and at the reception, but nobody answered. We only found a note saying that you were closed and to come back at 7:30 pm. We were tired and hungry after skiing and had to wait a long time to see someone. We’re not really sure if this is proper service

Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise

Hotel
Sights & Landmarks
Nestled in Alberta's Banff National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Fairmont Château Lake Louise is a luxurious mountain resort offering a range of activities and amenities. Originally established over 100 years ago as a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, the hotel now provides guided mountain tours, skiing in winter, hiking and canoeing in summer, kids camp, spa services, and exceptional dining options.
A wonderful stay in the Hotel. The staff were very responsive in sorting out a booking issue for us before our arrival. We pulled into the driveway and our bags were taken for us and minded as we wandered the grounds and along the Lake. The staff here are super polite, friendly and efficient. Check in was a breeze. The renovations had been completed since our last stay and our room was in the new wing with a lovely lake and mountain view. The new spa has also been finished but we didn't have time to indulge. We had dinner in the Fairview restaurant and again the service was very good and the dishes excellent. We took the Hotel's Lake Moraine shuttle on our second morning and despite the chilling wind it was a wonder to experience. We highly recommend this method of visiting the Lake when planning your stay. Lake Louise and the area are wonders to see but it's the hotel and its staff that really make the stay an effortless first class experience. Thanks to all the staff who made our stay an incredible memory. We'll be back!

Lake Louise is an absolutely stunning location! My wife and I stayed several days as part of a larger group event. The staff is kind, welcoming, and hospitable. Big thank you to the hotel team. Personal shout out to Mark at concierge! After a conversation regarding hotel activities, unfortunately, the activity we wanted to participate in was full. When we had returned to our room there was a personalized note and some vouchers from Mark. This is one of many examples of kindness. We really appreciated how the staff went over and above, exceeding expectations each day! Can’t wait to visit again.

Best hotel I've stayed at. Was fortunate enough to be able to spend 2 nights here in August of last year and had a lot of fun. Ended up going canoeing twice, once during the day and once at sunset. Hotel is close to so many great hiking trails, both walking distance or short drive from trailhead. The backcountry blonde ale which is only sold here is a great beer, would definitely recommend it.

My husband and I booked a couple of nights at this beautiful Chateau to enjoy my birthday celebration. I have never felt so spoiled and cared for. From the first interaction until the final check out, each and every team member went above and beyond to make our stay magical and more than we could have ever expected. Lake Louise is extraordinary, the Chateau is breathtaking and the wonderful team of employees are unmatched. I cannot recommend this Chateau enough.

Bucket List: Visit Lake Louise✔️ Stay at a Fairmont Hotel✔️ It was our 29th Anniversary & we spent 5 nights at the fabulous Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise! We had the most memorable time here. We stayed in room 711 on the Gold Floor (….we went all out!) Highly recommend this room, the view from the window amazing, has a tub & a shower, a small sofa, tables w/ 2 chairs & the bed and pillows 😴 Best sleep !!! The Gold Floor , they say, is a hotel within a hotel. comes with its own concierge , small lounge with games and breakfast area (amazing) that turns into a canopy/ appetizers in the evening… it also has (all the time) sodas, a machine that makes the best hot chocolate & coffees!!! … and an honour bar for making cocktails! We splurged , 29th anniversary and all, and did their new (just opened in Sept) “Basin” (a nordic spa, scandinavian or thermal spa) at first we thought a lot of money but let me tell you….when we were leaving the Basin i felt like I should pay more. What an amazing experience! !!!! You must book this!!! I met a lady who had done both Banff Fairmont spa and this one and she said “no comparison” Fairmont Lake Louise is above and beyond!!! Do the Basin !! The staff … truly the best service ever experienced anywheres (& we travel a lot)!!!! I do have to give a couple of shout outs to some of the amazing staff: (there is more that should be listed here and I am sorry for not remembering their names). !!!! Anna !!!! our gold floor concierge. Truly above and beyond!!!! so amazingly kind to us ! and helped us plan our day trips with paper maps (we still prefer these) She sent us to some amazing places! and showed us what to do around Lake Louise too. she even , when she could tell that I had no clue, downloaded maps onto my phone so that when we were in areas without cell coverage we wouldn’t be lost. ….. I could go on & on about how so incredibly dear Anna is !!! also Nicole , massage therapist, truly one of the best massages ever had. magical hands !!! and !!!!! Romeo !!!! on the gold floor, hotel within hotel, the breakfast area has an omelette station (or eggs how you like) Romeo is second only to the sunrise!! He not only makes the best ever omelettes (or eggs how you like) He sets the day off to a beautiful start with his Smile, Kindness, Joy, enthusiasm for the day!!! Truly a beautiful & special man We also had an amazing dining experience at the Fairview with AJ as our waiter ! Wonderful service, so personal Thank you AJ Thank you All!! What an unforgettable birthday experience from start to finish! My stay at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise was truly magical from the moment I arrived. Everything about my stay felt luxurious and thoughtfully curated. The breathtaking views, the warm atmosphere, and the exceptional service made this birthday trip one I will never forget. The setting alone is breathtaking—waking up to the turquoise lake and surrounding mountains felt like stepping into a postcard. The rooms were beautifully appointed, comfortable, and spotless, offering breathtaking views that made every moment feel special. The staff were always warm and attentive, consistently going the extra mile to make the experience extraordinary. Jade warmly welcomed me, checked me in and made me feel truly appreciated. A massive thank-you to Sam, who went above and beyond by surprising me with a special birthday treat delivered to my room—along with a beautifully signed card from the staff. It was such a thoughtful touch and made me feel genuinely celebrated. Even checking in at the gate, I was wished Happy Birthday! Breakfast at Louisa was another highlight. Patricia and Candy were absolutely wonderful and full of positive energy. They made each morning feel extra special with their kindness and exceptional service. Every part of the stay was elevated by the people who work there. I left feeling appreciated, pampered, and eager to return! I highly recommend the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise to anyone looking for a truly memorable experience.

Our family wants to say the biggest thank you to the entire Lakeview Restaurant team. You turned our baby’s first birthday into a truly unforgettable memory. We felt so much love, care, and attention in every moment. Brooke, you are absolutely amazing — your kindness and energy made the evening perfect. Nick and Amy, thank you so much for your warmth and professionalism. To the incredible Culinary Team — Sasha, Jenn, Tim — you delivered an exceptional experience. The food, presentation, and atmosphere were all flawless. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making our son’s 1st birthday so special. We love you all — you are the best! ❤️🎉

From the moment we arrived, it was clear that the Fairmont experience is nothing short of majestic. Every detail—from the warm greeting at the door to the impeccable attention throughout my stay—made me feel like I was not just a guest, but royalty. The atmosphere blends historic elegance with modern sophistication. The rooms are thoughtfully designed, offering comfort, style, and breathtaking views that make it hard to leave. Every corner of the hotel speaks to quality and timeless charm. What truly sets the Fairmont apart is its service. The staff operate at a level of professionalism and grace that is rarely seen. They anticipated needs I didn’t even know I had, and every request was met with genuine care and a smile. It’s hospitality at its finest. Dining was an experience in itself—every meal crafted like a work of art, full of flavour and beautifully presented. Whether it was breakfast, afternoon tea, or dinner, it felt like a celebration of taste and refinement. From the serene spa to the elegant common spaces, every moment at the Fairmont offered peace, luxury, and a sense of grandeur that is truly worthy of kings and queens. If you’re looking for more than just a stay—but an experience that elevates the senses and renews the spirit—the Fairmont is unrivalled.

Lake Louise Ski Resort & Summer Gondola

Mentioned on

Ski resort
Transportation
Located in Banff National Park, the Lake Louise Ski Resort & Summer Gondola is a large year-round recreational destination with numerous activities, dining options, and shops. Nestled in the Canadian Rockies, it offers stunning views and diverse terrain for skiers of all levels. With 139 ski runs and a lift capacity of over 14,000 skiers per hour, it's a popular spot for skiing and snowboarding events.
The Lake Louise Summer Gondola is a fantastic way to enjoy panoramic views of the Rockies without a strenuous hike. I recommend riding in the open seats during summer to fully experience the fresh air and scenic vistas. While I didn’t spot any wildlife during my ride up or down, the view from the top is still incredible. Once you reach the summit, there’s an easy trail that winds down, offering more amazing perspectives of the mountains and valley below. It’s a relaxing and visually rewarding experience, perfect for photographers and anyone who wants to enjoy the Rockies with minimal effort. Tip for visitors: Try to ride in the open-air seats during summer for the most immersive experience and bring a camera to capture the stunning scenery.

Its a beautiful place for sure but very busy and outrageously expensive. There were so many people that it was hard to get a picture without strangers in it.lol But the staff members in the hotel and coffee shop were wonderful. They truly cater to people with class and kindness. Adding 2 stars to my review.
GSR — Google review
I liked the view when I went to the top but to be honest, this whole gondola thing was very normal. View was great but could be a possibility that I went in July and it looks better when snow is around. There is a photo booth where you can take a picture.
Mohit G — Google review
The Lake Louise Ski Resort & Summer Gondola is one of Banff National Park’s most versatile and photogenic destinations, offering year-round opportunities for spectacular mountain photography. Nestled in the heart of the Canadian Rockies, the resort provides sweeping views of Lake Louise, the Bow Valley, and the imposing peaks of Mount Temple and the surrounding ranges — all accessible within minutes by gondola. During summer, the Lake Louise Gondola is a photographer’s dream. The 14-minute ride ascends through lush alpine forest to an elevation of over 2,000 meters, where breathtaking panoramic vistas unfold. From the upper station, visitors can capture the iconic turquoise waters of Lake Louise framed by rugged mountains and glaciers. The viewing platforms and short trails near the summit offer ideal vantage points for sunrise and sunset, when golden light touches the peaks and deepens the blues of the lake below. Wildlife photography is another highlight. The area around the gondola is prime grizzly bear habitat, and sightings from the safety of the lift are common in summer. Photographers can also encounter elk, marmots, and golden eagles, making it an exceptional spot for nature and wildlife shots without venturing deep into the backcountry. In winter, the resort transforms into one of Canada’s premier ski destinations. Snow-covered slopes, alpine lodges, and the dramatic backdrop of Mount Temple create postcard-perfect winter scenes. The crisp mountain light, combined with the interplay of snow and shadow, makes for stunning high-contrast photography. A ride on the gondola or chairlift provides aerial views of the skiers below and the vast white wilderness stretching in every direction. Whether blanketed in snow or glowing under summer sun, the Lake Louise Ski Resort & Summer Gondola offers photographers a chance to experience the Rockies from above — capturing the scale, color, and wild beauty that make Banff National Park one of the world’s most photogenic landscapes.
Paul P — Google review
My notes here are strictly for the gondola experience. Winter time. Not the best gondola experience but it was recommended after the Banff gondola, which was closed for maintenance during the time we went. It literally is just a ski lift up and then back down... there is no hiking or real views of anything other than what you would normally on any ski mountain. The folks here are very nice and told me they have been working on a lodge project for YEARS so that people like me don't come up expecting exactly that, and they gave us free vouchers for a hot drink to enjoy on our way out. For the price of "sightseeing" gondola tickets, I would skip this... but I'm sure this is a great place for winter sports.
Ray B — Google review
We take the gondola and lunch bundles ride . On both ways ( up and down ) we seen two deer under our gondola ride . The views from the top are amazing . The mountains and all those glaciers are stunning ! The burgers combo we have ordered are delicious too.
Mei C — Google review
Great ski resort. Got off everything you need to intermediate to high profile and of course the scenic view

Lake Louise Visitor Centre

Mentioned on

Visitor center
Nestled in the village, Lake Louise Visitor Centre is a hub for gathering information, brochures, maps, and books about the park. The center also provides access to national park tickets and facilities like washrooms. In the summer months, visitors can embark on hiking adventures with numerous trails starting at Lake Louise shores or venturing to Moraine Lake and beyond.
a wonderful visitor center. nice gift shop full of high quality merchandise that supports Canada Parks, extremely friendly and helpful people, who are forced to deal with tourists all day (very impressive) and are still very helpful and informative. there’s some great plaques, graphs, diagrams and models all over that talk about ecology, wildlife, endangerment etc. outside there are some cool old gondolas/cable cars with more writing.
James N — Google review
Lack luster for a visitors center but the staff was very knowledgeable and helpful with how to get to the lake. We ended up riding bicycles up and it was totally worth it. Take the old tram line trail, you can even leave from the campground. It’s only a few miles and the ride back is perfect (downhill) there is one steep spot at the beginning but don’t let it detour you from the whole ride, we walked our bikes up that part). I also noticed that there are bike rentals near here.
Molly O — Google review
An Essential Stop for a Lake Louise Adventure The Lake Louise Visitor Centre is the perfect starting point for any trip to the area. It serves as a crucial resource for gathering information before you head out to explore the stunning surroundings. The staff here are truly fantastic. They are incredibly helpful and provide clear, concise information that makes planning your day so much easier. Their expertise and friendly demeanor are a huge plus. During the summer, the parking can get quite crowded, so it's a good idea to arrive early if you can. Despite the high volume of visitors, the service remains efficient and friendly. This is a testament to the staff's professionalism and dedication. Overall, I highly recommend making this your first stop. It’s a well-organized and informative place that will help you make the most of your time in this beautiful region.
James B — Google review
The lake was beautiful and such a great place to relax and attract visitors from all over. I totally recommend buying the tickets in advance because the stress we had to go through to get them…we definitely got lucky as well as the staff were super helpful

Stopped at the Lake Louise Visitor Centre early morning in summer 2025. Clean facilities, great info displays, and super helpful staff who gave clear tips on parking, shuttles, and hiking routes. A perfect place to start the day!

Lookouts
Fairview Lookout in Banff National Park offers a short and easy hike with stunning views of the Lake Louise area. The trail, starting near the boathouse on Lake Louise, takes hikers through a picturesque forest before reaching the lookout point. Despite an elevation gain of 165 meters, the round trip is only a couple of kilometers, making it accessible for all skill levels. This makes it perfect for families or beginner hikers looking to explore the area without committing to a longer trek.
So beautiful place to see. But very very very difficult to find parking. Just remember that, you will not find parking. So it is better to book a shuttle from curtain shuttle companies, it will cost you around 90 CD per person for both lakes. Usually it is very crowded.
Ahmed B — Google review
Lake louise is indeed a tip of our best holiday. The mountain range, the clear blue water, and super nice weather on september will be memorable
Pepperidge F — Google review
Amazing view! If you visit Lake Louise you must go to this place since the view from here is amazing and distance from the lake is not that much, around 20 minutes one way. The color of the lake is better from 11am to 2pm since the sunlight makes the lake appear a deep turquoise color.
Rafael M — Google review
This is a breathtaking viewpoint that demands a visit! Just be aware that despite the "easy" rating, the trail is steep and relentlessly uphill, requiring a bit of exertion. The true highlight of our visit, though, was an absolutely amazing and rare sighting of a Lynx right along the path! The views and the wildlife make this stop unforgettable.
YZ L — Google review
Beautiful look out with well defined trail and signage just off the parking lot. If you plan on going Oct-Mar being some boot ice cleats and walking/hike poles. The snow pack turns to slick ice fast and makes the climb difficult. It's possible with just winter boots, but it's challenging and easy to take a fall.
Adam F — Google review
I’m so glad we decided to go ahead with our plan, even though there was a light snow forecast (30%) the night before. The Fairview Lookout hike is short and easy, especially with proper shoes or boots, and using cleats and trekking poles during the snowy weather. It takes about 30 minutes to reach the top, and around an hour total for the round trip. Once you reach the lookout, you’re rewarded with a magical panoramic view of Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise and the turquoise lake below.. absolutely breathtaking!
K T — Google review
Quite a steep walk up, but the view of Lake Louise from above is beautiful. Need some stamina and some climbing through uneven footpath. The lake looks very turquoise and huge from above.
Bugwagen — Google review
The Fairview Lookout is about a 90 minute return easy hike, from the end of the lake by the Hotel to a viewpoint of the lake and hotel. Going is mostly uphill, so it can be a challenge for persons without a moderate to good level of fitness. As an older couple we required a few pauses. When we arrived at the loookout we noticed young women still carrying their starbusck coffeees, and a mother carrying a 6 week old baby. I use the word “easy" with them in mind. It was a good option in October, since the original plan to the Old tea House was a no-good as the tea house had already closed for the season.

Hiking Trails
Sentinel Pass is a challenging 8.1 km loop trail in Banff National Park, Alberta, offering breathtaking views of Larch Valley, Paradise Valley, and Moraine Lake. The hike takes you across vast avalanche slopes to the start of a side trail leading to the Giant Steps cascade below Sentinel Pass and Mount Temple.
Very slippery in October but the larches were beautiful! Bring proper biking boots as there is quite a deep incline.
Linda G — Google review
If you can manage to get yourself a bus ticket here then sentinel pass is a must. The hike from Moraine Lake to about the 1/2 way point is pretty lame but once you pass the dense tree line it is an absolute marvel. I felt like I passed through a teleporter 4 times before I reached the top of this hike with all the different types of scenery. Truly a special place
Benjamin K — Google review
Sentinel Pass via Larch Valley is one of the best hikes you can do in Moraine Lake. The steep challenge was the best part of the day. We became part of the view from the top of the mountains.
Summer H — Google review
We timed our visit just right to coincide with the beginning of larch season and it was mesmerising. While a long and steep trek up the first half of the hike yields fairly little in the way of views, once you pass the little junction at the halfway point the walk transforms into something utterly magical and doesn’t stop producing wonders until you reach the end at Minnetsima lake. The walk back is similarly lovely as you can take in all the golden larches (in the correct season) framing the ten peaks and the massive overhanging glacier. I’d only avoid the hike if you have people with serious physical issues as it is rather steep and can be long. We also managed to complete larch valley (up to but not including the hike up to Sentinel Pass) it in about 3.5 hours inclusive of lengthy stops for photographs and lingering at the top.
John L — Google review
It's absolutely stunning. This is the best trail I've hiked in the area. Unlike other trails that go straight up for the view, this one is unique with the Larch Valley section and the zigzag path near Moraine Lake. It reminded me of Patagonia. It took us 3 hours and 20 minutes to complete, including 30 minutes at the top and a 10-minute rest on the way up. We're not fast hikers.
Rachel W — Google review
One of the best 8-mile hikes in Banff National Park with stunning views is the Larch Valley and Sentinel Pass. Generally it seems it takes about 5-6 hours to complete, it took us just over 4 hours. Larch Valley and Sentinel Pass Hike **Distance:** About 8 miles (round trip) **Elevation Gain:** Approximately 2,625 feet **Trailhead:** Moraine Lake Highlights: 1. **Larch Trees:** In the fall, the larch trees turn a brilliant golden color, offering some of the most picturesque fall scenery in the Rockies. 2. **Moraine Lake Views:** The hike starts at Moraine Lake, which itself is one of the most photographed spots in Banff. 3. **Alpine Meadows:** As you ascend, you'll pass through beautiful alpine meadows with wildflowers (in summer) and expansive views. 4. **Sentinel Pass:** The final ascent to Sentinel Pass offers panoramic views of the surrounding peaks and valleys. Tips: - **Timing:** This hike is very popular, so start early to avoid crowds, especially if you're hiking during peak season (late June to early September) or fall larch season. - **Gear:** Bring layers, as weather can change quickly in the mountains. Also, consider bringing trekking poles for the steep sections. - **Wildlife:** Be aware of wildlife, including bears, and carry bear spray.
Tiffany K — Google review
Stunning views! The hike from giant steps up to here was very hard. The last section was a boulder field. Still snow to walk through. The final climb I lost the trail and ended up in a lose rock scramble. Thankfully I was able to get back to the trail because of cairns. It is a MUCH better trail coming from Moraine Lake as it is just well defined switchbacks.
Greg A — Google review
Super fun hiking lol the way to the Sentinel Pass. Although we could not finish the very last and the most difficult part to reach the pass, the rest of the trail was super fun also. The lerch valley was in full fall colors and it was crowded. This is one must do hike in the Lake Moraine area in the Fall. Lots of places to stop and take photographs. Beautiful hike and vista all around.

Stanley Glacier Trailhead

Hiking area
The Stanley Glacier Trailhead, located in Kootenay National Park, offers a captivating hike through a valley of Fire and Ice. The trail leads hikers through the regrown remains of a 1968 wildfire before reaching the impressive Stanley Glacier at the head of the valley. This scenic route also provides access to Marble Canyon and its seven bridges, as well as opportunities for camping at three different campsites. Visitors can further unwind at Radium Hot Springs after their adventure.
Moderately easy hike, some steep parts and loose gravel bits but overall easy.
Ivan C — Google review
Beautiful hike with a moderate grade and excellent views. Somethings to be aware of: There aren't many trail markers. There was one for the end of the marked trail and one other just a few hundred meters before it. I was hiking with snow on the ground so maybe they were covered up, but I doubt it. The trail can be cold as there is a lot of shade.
Marc D — Google review
Stanley Glacier is an absolutely incredible hike and a fantastic escape from the crowds. The trail quickly takes you above the treeline, offering spectacular, uninterrupted views of the surrounding mountains—making the climb feel so much more rewarding. We started our hike early, around 5 or 6 a.m., just before sunrise. It was a quiet, peaceful trek through the rain, and the wind was a bit gusty at the top, but the views were breathtakingly beautiful and well worth it. Along the way, you'll also find a fascinating cave to explore. The path leading up to the glacier itself is stunning, though it becomes a bit more challenging as you get closer up to the glacier itself.

Incredible hike and able to get right up the glacier. Unfortunately it got quite wet as we got towards the end so stopped a bit short. The hike up the end of the trial is reasonable but gets much harder afterwords, steep and a bit a scrabble in places. Views were amazing. We stopped at the cave just beyond the so gin and had lunch. Waterfalls were non existent but likely cause we visited end of summer.

A great moderate hike with impressive views. The approximate 10km (out and back) takes you through a variety of mountain landscapes, lodgepole pines, waterfalls, caves, and wildlife. You can go right up to the glacier if desired but most of the trail books end just under the glacier because it’s a nice spot to have your lunch. There is a smaller loop at the top of the hike where the trail is a little harder to make out but this is essentially an out and back hike.

Trail with a steady but manageable incline for a good percentage of the way. There is about a kilometer of the trail that is very "rocky" (about 3.5 km in). Wonderful views and vistas.
Ralph W — Google review
Fun day out and bring the kids. If you can’t make a tour, fossils are on the ground near the green metal box and big rock on the path up.

The Beehive

Mountain peak
Outdoor Activities
Nestled in the stunning Rocky Mountains, The Beehive is a breathtaking 9,500-foot peak that draws hikers with its unique shape reminiscent of an actual beehive. For those looking to immerse themselves in the beauty of Lake Louise, embarking on a comprehensive hike that includes the Lake Louise Lakeshore, Lake Agnes Trail, Beehive Circuit, and Plain of Six Glaciers Trail is an absolute must.
Amazing trail that gets you to see Lake Louise in the distance and the mountains in the background. Definitely a bit more difficult to hike but nothing crazy. No need for loose rock scrambling, just a pair of running shoes is all you need.
Victor W — Google review
Visiting the Beehive was an unforgettable experience! The trail was scenic and rewarding, and the views from the top were absolutely worth the climb. It was a helicopter day, saw the helicopter supplying to the tea house.
Jocelin S — Google review
The Big Beehive is the one of the most amazing trails you can do in Lake Louise. The trail is well marked. You can take two routes to get there. One through the Lake Louise - Lake Agnes trail and the other one is the one coming back from The plain of Six Glaciers. I would suggest to take the Lake Louise - Lake Agnes trail because the other one is harder as the entire trail will be only incline until you reach the beehive. Lake Agnes route has a gradual Incline but also some plain ground which will help you to keep your stamina. On the other hand the other trail will drain you fast & crazy. By taking the Lake Agnes route you can complete the Big Beehive and The plain of Six Glaciers Tea House together (Approx 5-6 hours hike depending on your pace). You will enjoy more if you take the first route. For me and my buddy Ninja it was our second time reaching to the top. Loved every second of the trail. Please be respectful to the environment and do not litter. Best of luck to you guys. Cheers.

The valley was covered in clouds so you couldn’t see the lake . We were up at about 8 am, so had the mountains all to ourselves for a few minutes. It’s charming and moderate hike to reach the top. Lots of people on the. Way back. We started at 5:30AM from Lake Louise. Definitely recommend early start to get a free parking and to avoid the crowds.

Amazing hike with stunning views! The turquoise lake and mountain scenery are absolutely worth it. Perfect spot for photos and relaxation.
Harjot J — Google review
Great hike with the best views, even for beginners. There were markings for the hike throughout the trail. Its steeped but have some plain ground to regain your stamina and calm your heartbeat. Mirror lake and lake agnes teahouse are in the way to the hike. Its 5.5 km hike with 500 elevation gain.
Mehakdeep R — Google review
Best view up there, was pretty easy hike up. Can get some tea in Lake Agnes Tea House before going further up. I went during fall season, i think Spring/Summer would be the best time to go.
Alexandra — Google review
The hike to beehive was a little on the intense side. There here a couple of switch backs and got steep at some points. If you hike all the way to the tea house you might as hike to the beehive. There is a wooden shack at the end, you can’t miss it, I almost did. The sights are very good and would recommend to anyone wanting a good challenge. Was a good time!!

This store is amazing. An abundance of wonderful items. The staff was wonderful. Friendly and very helpful. I bought way more than I intended and got gifts for others as the options were truly wonderful. I suggest you stop in, you will be glad you did!

Very rude staff and they seem to hate visitors and travelers. Glared at us and acted with hostility when all we did was ask them polite questions. If they are such red necks then they should not be running this type of business in a tourist town. I would not recommend this store to anyone. I may have bought something if you hadn't been so rude to us, the revenue you probably desperately need now that there are restricted number of travelers visiting the town and going to your store. Let this be a lesson to you and all the other businesses out there that you cannot take customers for granted and think that there will be others because there might be a threat to your business such as the COVID-19.

Terrible. This company agreed to meet me and purchase First Nation handmade carved jewelry. I flew from Victoria to Calgary and shuttled 3 hours to lake Louise with a promise to meet in person. I called 30 minutes prior, to confirm meet up. Upon arrival I was informed the owner did not want to meet me . I was also told to leave my work without payment. i feel this is a scam. After observing the store, i realized the quality and quantity of products were minimal, low standard and did not match their website.

Mount Temple

Mountain peak
Nature & Parks
Mount Temple is a challenging peak located in Banff National Park, offering various climbing and scrambling routes. The ascent begins at Moraine Lake and involves navigating through scree slopes, rock bands, and possibly encountering cornices. The hike to Sentinel Pass is relatively easy, but the path becomes more intense with rocky terrain and minor scrambling before transitioning into snow slogging depending on the season. It's recommended to be well-prepared and familiar with the route before attempting this adventure.
Mount temple has a great scramble during the first grey band section. We had to climb it while it rained, making it 2 times harder. Go here when there's the weather forecast shows zero condensation! We had no view at the peak unfortunately.
Sam — Google review
Definitely a worth it scramble. Overall a easy scramble with only one crux, so this hike should be on your bucket list if your a hiker.
Glenn Z — Google review
What an amazing experience this hike was - The absolute pinnacle of what Banff National Park has to offer. Started the hike from Moraine Lake around 8 a.m. Did the mistake of ascending a bit too fast from the get-go, reaching the Sentinel Pass within an hour - The trail up to that point has no technical challenge. Once you reach the pass, the terrain changes completely and the technical difficulty increases. At that point you have 2.5km of ( & 900m elevation gain) semi steep terrain to conquer, and loose rock on the way to scramble through. It took a bit less than 2.5hrs to reach the top from Sentinell Pass. But the views alone will make the efforts 100% worth it, they were truly something special. Due relative steepness and loose rocks, the descend will also require some time. Reached the Moraine Lake around 3 p.m, including 2 hours spent on the summit. Few spots to refill water from running stream can be found along the first 4km of the hike, but was able to survive with 4 liters.
Tomi L — Google review
Mount Temple is one of the most iconic and awe-inspiring peaks in Banff National Park — a towering symbol of the Canadian Rockies and a dream subject for landscape photographers. Rising to 3,544 meters (11,627 feet), it dominates the skyline above Lake Louise and the Moraine Lake area, offering breathtaking views from nearly every angle. Its immense scale, layered ridges, and snow-capped summit make it a natural focal point in countless classic mountain compositions. From the shores of Moraine Lake, Mount Temple stands as the tallest of the Valley of the Ten Peaks, anchoring one of the most photographed vistas in the world. The contrast between its rugged gray limestone face and the deep turquoise of the glacial lake below is simply striking. Early morning light paints the mountain’s slopes in soft pink and gold, while sunset brings out warm amber tones against a cool alpine sky — ideal for golden-hour photography. For adventurous photographers, the hike toward Sentinel Pass or Larch Valley provides spectacular vantage points where Temple’s sheer presence fills the frame. In autumn, golden larches light up the valley, creating a vivid contrast with the mountain’s icy upper slopes. In winter, the peak transforms into a dramatic, snow-covered pyramid rising above a silent landscape of white. Mount Temple is also rich in geological and atmospheric variety. Its rugged textures, glaciers, and clouds that frequently gather around its summit make it a perfect subject for both minimalist and dramatic compositions. Long lenses capture its intricate ridges and snow patterns, while wide angles emphasize its commanding dominance over the valley below. Majestic, timeless, and ever-changing with the light, Mount Temple is more than a mountain — it’s a photographic icon of Banff. Whether viewed from the lakes below or the ridges nearby, it never fails to inspire awe and creativity in anyone who lifts a camera toward it.

We scrambled up the summit of Mount Temple, elevation 3550 m ,on August 15, 2023, 16 km out and back, 1700 m elevation gain. Lots of scrambling, pathfinding and steep loose rocky terrain above the Sentinel pass. Fantastic panoramic views from the summit. We booked Parks Canada shuttle bus for 6:30-7:00 a.m. in the morning three months in advance and came back on the lust shuttle leaving at 7:30 p.m. There is no private car access now to Moraine Lake parking lot. This was a capstone scrambling experience for our family.
Elena G — Google review
What a grind this was. 16kms with 1700m elevation that mostly begins around 3kms in. This one is a tough mountain to conquer but doable and very rewarding. Only downfall is you need to take the bus into Moraine Lake which you have to reserve sometimes well in advance. If you're an intermediate hiker you'll need to do the 1st bus in so you have give yourself enough time not to miss the last bus, totally worth it
Huss H — Google review
Amazing challenging scramble & climb. Allow all day ascent/return parking at Morraine Lake before 6am latest or preferably 5am. At 3544m, longest non-technical climb available up 1700m and 15km. Alternate via Paradise Valley 26km and 1900m on All Trails. Study best route before starting and plan later August summitt checking weather. Strongly suggest attempt with at least one of group completing previously. Heavy, late snow in mountains Spring, 2022 may be an issue. Take 2-3 litres of water unless you filter some at last river. Interestingly enough, you may feel shortness of breath at end of climb!!
John C — Google review
Amazing hike First stage up to sentinel pass is a breeze, we got there in under 1.5hrs. Definitely gave us some false confidence From there, there's a half hour or so of walking up rocky path with minor scrambling After that, it's more intense scrambling which will become snow slogging depending on the hour and season. We got a good mix of both. It's a bit hard to stay on the path without a GPS for the scrambling part, but everything kinda goes the same direction eventually, so not a huge deal. Definitely gets cold at the top, we didn't have gloves and super didn't spend a lot of time at the peak as a result. -10 or worse with wind probably, even with the valley being 10+. But the views are amazing, it's a ton of elevation gain and some alpine experience in a 1-day trip, so would definitely recommend. Oh yeah for those wondering, it was a bit under 8 hours total for us. We could've probably shaved an hour off on the way down if we wanted to, but it's nice to take it slow. Also despite some others saying start super early, I wouldn't. The longer you can wait (fitness/experience dependent ofc), the more snow and ice will melt on the way up, making it much easier and safer.

WALLISER STUBE

Restaurant
The Walliser Stube, located at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise Hotel, offers a delightful dining experience with its traditional Swiss menu featuring cheese and oil fondues, raclette, appetizers, salads, and desserts. The restaurant's signature Chateau Experience presents a three-course fondue dinner including cheese fondue to start, chateaubriand steak as the main course, and Toblerone chocolate fondue for dessert.
We were lucky enough to stay here as part of our tour and decided to have dinner here. From the moment we were shown to our table, our server Asher was there to make sure we had everything we needed. We had the fondue experience and it did not disappoint. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. Asher was attentive without being obtrusive and super helpful and friendly. We enjoyed chatting to him.

We had a fantastic dinner here while we were staying at the hotel. Two of us did the three course dinner while our son got the pork chop. My wife and I each had the filet. We started off with the cheese fondue, which was delicious. It came with bread as well as vegetables and pickles to dip in the cheese. I really liked the vegetables more than the bread. The filets were perfectly cooked and were so good. For dessert, we got the chocolate fondue with many different morsels to smother with chocolate. Some might complain about the portions being small, but we thought they were absolutely perfect. Everything tasted so good, and we left very satisfied without that overly full feeling. I did splurge and ordered the premium wine pairing, and I have to say it was perfect for my palate. I have been under whelmed with wine pairing in the past, but not here. Our waiter was super friendly and helpful and provided a great experience. The only thing that is a deficit is the cost, so viewing this as a special treat helps!

What more can one ask for. The view alone is worth the price! The wine selection beyond compare! The service, oh yes the service. Our server Melanie was an absolute gem. Very knowledgeable! What a pleasure! I did enjoy my tomahawk schnitzel. Perhaps a little unusual combination but it was certainly lovely. The dessert was amazing A newly invented and very inspiring peach Strudel! Highly recommend.

Really nice and straightforward restaurant in the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. There’s one room with amazing views of the lake, and another room with no views, so request (if you can) the room with the view. Additionally, there’s a full wine rack w/a ladder that’s very cute and actually gets used. We split the raclette (which was a “deconstructed” version of a traditional raclette) and split the tenderloin. Both were excellent. We’d definitely eat here again, but you also can’t go wrong with the other hotel restaurants

I had the absolute best experience at Walliser Stube thanks to our incredible server, Asher! He went above and beyond to make my birthday so special. He made me feel truly seen, cared for, and celebrated in a way I will never forget. His warmth, attention to detail, and genuine kindness turned the evening into something magical. Asher didn’t just serve us—he created an experience and made “special” happen. Thank you for making my birthday unforgettable!

My wife and I visited Walliser Stube twice while we were at the Fairmont. The first night for full dinner. Everything was top notch. Our server Nick took amazing care of us and also had a ton of great wine knowledge to share with us. Cheese fondue (truffle), tenderloin, and then chocolate fondue were all 10/10 excellent. The 2nd night- we came for only chocolate fondue and a glass of wine, we didn’t have a reservation and were seated in the bar area. Nick was our server/ bar tender and wow was he great. Will absolutely be back.

Located within The Fairmont Chateau, Lakeview Lounge offers a luxurious setting with breathtaking views of Lake Louise and the surrounding forests. This top establishment provides an elegant atmosphere for visitors to enjoy exquisite cocktails from the Fairmont Modern Classics menu while taking in the majestic scenery. Guests can also indulge in tapas bites as they admire the brilliant view of the lake and Victoria Glacier.
12:30 lunch reservation. Parking $45Ca not complimentary. We were seated at the patio as requested for a birthday celebration. Food was good. The service was a little slower than I would have expected, but it gave us an excuse to soak in the scenic view and ambiance. This is a high end establishment and looks good, but some areas of the hotel is a little dated. Enjoyed our food and the brisket sandwich I ordered was impressively delicious and my wife raved about the fresh cut salad prepped at table side. Lake Louise is stunning and it just lift everything else around it as far as impressions.

Had lunch at the Lakeview lounge after morning walk along the lakeshore trail. the lounge is at the Fairmont Lake Louise Chateau, and it cna be booked by persons who are not guests at the hotel. The location and atmosphere are incredible, elegant and refined, with magnificient views if the Lake. It has both indooor and outdoor seating - we opted for indoor as the day was a little brisk, even though the outdoor had heaters. Our waitress Kayla took excellent care of us. She may have warned us that the portion sizes were generous, but if so we took no notice. To start we shared theBurrata & Co Pizzette appetizer. It was deliciuos. The proscuitto was tasty and tender, almost melting in your mouth, and condiments compleliment the dish - of special note the fig and onion jam. But it was ENORMOUS. Between the two of us we could barely finish it, and by this point we knew we were in trouble. For main courses we had BBQ Elk Ribs Stack, and Hour Smoked Beef Rib French Dip. The elk ribs choice was part of my experiencing local offerings.. They were very good - but, experience realized, given the choice in the future I’d choose pork ribs any day. The beef sandhich was good, with a very generous portion size - overwhelming my better half, and after the appetizer I was not the usual help in batting clean-up. Solution was a doggy bag, Overall a truly wonderful experience, both for the food and atmosphere.

We stopped by for lunch and it was such an amazing experience! The atmosphere was unreal right across from the lake with the most beautiful view. Honestly, I expected it to be super pricey, but the prices were very reasonable and totally worth it. Our server Hannah was fantastic! She gave us the best recommendations, every single dish she suggested was spot on. The Wild Mushroom Ravioli and Roasted Chicken were both incredible (especially the ravioli ,Hannah’s pick!). The Caesar salad on the side and the overall presentation were perfect. I was also impressed that they have Halal options! Hannah checked with the chef and confirmed the chicken is halal. They also have other halal meats, but they were frozen that day, so we’ll definitely come back to try them next time. It’s so nice to see a fine dining place being so considerate about that. They even made a wine-free sauce for my ravioli, which I really appreciated. The staff were kind, attentive, and so thoughtful. And please don’t leave without trying the peach dessert ! it was heavenly! Thank you, Lakeview Lodge Restaurant, for such a wonderful meal and experience 💛

I reserved this table 5 months before we traveled to Banff. I've had my eye on this place for a long time. Was nervous when we arrived. So happy to have dined here. Wasn't just a meal but an experience. You can't beat the views! And the service was amazing! Issa was a wonderful server! He recommended the peach cobbler which was delicious and even gave us mousse also! Can't say enough about this place. Reserve ahead! You won't be disappointed! The lobster roll and caesar salad were so delicious! No leftovers to be had.

After finishing the Lakes Agnes hike in the morning, we had our lunch at the Lakeview Lounge at the spectacular Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. Needless to say, the ambience is amazing. We had a clear and lovely view of Lake Louise from our table. We ordered the Crab Ravioli and the Roast Spaghetti Squash. Both of the dishes were amazing. As it was our special day, the server offered a complimentary dessert!! The restaurant is expensive but given its location, I would say it’s worth it. Make sure to book the reservations in advance.

It was our wedding day and we booked the Lakeview because it's the place with the prettiest views in Banff! It was the most beautiful place we've ever dined at! And not only were the views absolutely breathtaking, the service was literally the best I've experienced. Everyone in Canada is so kind and helpful, and the staff here are top notch. They made sure we got the best window seat, treated us like royalty, and we're all so amazing. And the food was great on top of it all! We ordered the tableside ceaser salad and it was an experience watching them make it. The mushroom pasta was so tasty! All of this on top of the prettiest views in Banff - I'd go back any day! Thanks for helping to make our wedding day perfect!

My husband and I celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary at the Lakeview Lounge at Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, and it was nothing short of spectacular. From the breathtaking setting to the impeccable service, everything was memorable. Our server, Chahat, was absolutely outstanding—warm, professional, and attentive without ever being intrusive. She made us feel truly celebrated, and it was clear she is an asset to the Fairmont team. The food was exceptional: the lobster salad was fresh and flavorful, the Caesar salad prepared tableside was both delicious and a delight to watch, and the roasted chicken was perfectly cooked. To our surprise, the team treated us to a beautifully presented dessert to mark our anniversary, which made the evening even more special. Between the stunning lake views, the excellent cuisine, and Chahat’s gracious service, it was an unforgettable experience. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect way to celebrate such an important milestone. Highly recommend Lakeview Lounge for any special occasion—or simply to enjoy the best of Lake Louise.

One our best experiences while in Lake Louise. We were so fortunate to get a table because they showed completely booked every night we were visiting. The staff were amazing and set us up on the outside patio with the best views of Lake Louise. I had their Tuna and my wife had the lobster salad. Then we finished the night with an apple crumble desert that was wonderful. Cannot thank the staff for such an amazing evening.

A nostalgic, somewhat rustic space in which I’m glad we made reservations for to drop in for the evening to have dinner. They have a small but tasty offering of local-ish beers, and a straightforward simple menu of classic staples. I liked the eggplant bites but would have enjoyed them more if the crispy batter had been seasoned a bit. The sweet potato fries were actually the big hit at our table. This spot has a lot to offer but could use a little TLC I think w an update to the bar and more comfortable seating n the main dining room. There is some great history here that really could be tapped into if done right. Our service was friendly and prompt and everything came out piping hot.

Unique location with good food. We were looking for a place to eat near Lake Louise at 7 pm and this was the only place that was open. The menu features some Canadian classics, great place to bring your visitor. We got the All Aboard Platter for Two to try all the appetizer options but they weren't very good. The Chicken Schnitzel and Bison Ribs were very nice though. Comes time for the bill, it was difficult to get a hold of a waitress. When we finally got a waitress to ask for the bill, she told us she was not our waitress and we should ask our. We were taken aback by the remark.

Tried the Station on my second day camping near Lake Louise but it was closed. Tried again tonight, but was greeted by a reservation only sign. I talked to the host anyway who kindly accommodated my small party of one 😁 I felt like royalty in those ginormous chairs! Dinner was EXCELLENT! I even had dessert which I don't normally do. I'm happily stuffed 😋

Look past the little start-up glitches (like no alcohol license yet) and focus on the food that they have dialed in. The French onion soup was all you would expect, the salmon was perfectly done, and the bison lasagna was delicious and hearty. Joelle was a great server. Some ultra-secret VIP (Justin?) parked their train, blocking our view.

Had a wonderful experience. We actually arrived an hour after our reservation - due to mixup in time zones. They graciously accommodated us. The atmosphere was fantastic. As the name implies, the restaurant is in the building of what was the Old train station. It has plenty of memorabilia. I had heard it had a photo of John Barrymore, and asked to see it because his family - the Drew's - are distantly related. They found the photo, attached. I had the Bison burger. Very good. Bison is less gamey than I thought it would be.

In addition to delicious food, the cafe also serves excellent coffee and cappuccinos to kickstart your day.
Very busy cafe for a reason. Food was good. Wrap doesn't break apart when you bite into it. Had the canadian club and cajun chicken. Both was flavorful. The Houston was pull pork with macaroni. Wait time are bit longer due to volume of customer. Good food requires some patience.

The salmon bagel was delicious. The bagel had a nice balance of softness and crispness, and the salmon filling was fresh. Paired with onions and cream sauce, it was incredibly tasty. The shop is quite small, and many takeout customers wait inside or stand by the counter looking at the menu on the board, which makes the space feel even busier and more crowded. I would love to visit again next time I’m in Banff.

After paying $80 for some wraps and salads I asked the staff about the food; the small salad container ($4.50 each) was half full, lettuce was old, the croutons were mush and the dressing tasted weird. He said “ok what do you want? A refund?” I said sure then I heard him tell his coworker that he’s giving us the $8 back because “he doesn’t want to deal with it”. I also asked him about the donair wrap because the description said garlic sauce but the sauce was extremely sweet he said “that’s how we make our sauce”. Overall vibe, price and quality of food was bad.

I guess the lack of nearby coffee shops makes this café a superstar. Cons: The latte was barely warm. It took 30 minutes from getting in line to receiving the order. They refused to serve pancakes at 9:59 😂 (even though the menu says they stop serving them at 10) Pros: The breakfast burrito was a good size and very filling.

The atmosphere was warm and rustic, a perfect fit for unwinding after time in the mountains. We ordered a variety of dishes: the cheeseburger with Broccoli‑Cheese Soup of the Day, Penne Marinara, the Crispy Chicken Parmesan Burger, and the Jalapeño Burger. They offer an optional upgrade to an Alberta bison patty for an extra $3, though we stuck with the regular patties. One highlight was that water was served freely - and it tasted fresh, not chlorinated. That really impressed us! The portion sizes were generous relative to the price, and overall we felt the quality and quantity offered excellent value - great price‑performance for the Lake Louise area. Service was friendly and efficient - they handled everything with a smile. We appreciated the cozy mountain‑style decor and the casual, welcoming vibe; clearly a local favorite among hikers and visitors alike. All in all, a terrific dinner spot after a long day outdoors. Friendly staff, hearty meals, and fair pricing - highly recommended!

Solid stop for a bite in the mountains! Dropped by Bill Peyto’s Cafe after a day of exploring and ordered the burger — nothing fancy, but it hit the spot. Juicy, satisfying, and just what I needed after some fresh mountain air. The vibe is laid-back and cozy, perfect for travelers or campers passing through. Not the best burger I’ve ever had, but definitely a decent one, and I’d come back to try more from the menu. Great place for a chill meal in a beautiful setting!

We were looking for a quiet place to eat. This place was perfect. Service was fantastic!! Atmosphere was very quaint. We got the chili which was a huge serving it came with tortilla chips.Sorry we dug into the chili before I took the picture. We went back the next day for Hamburgers which was also huge and wonderful. We would highly recommend eating.

We’ve been to Bill Peyto‘s Cafe three times now – and every single time was just incredible! The food is absolutely delicious (see photos 😋), and the atmosphere is super cozy and welcoming. A huge shoutout to Mel, our waitress the last two nights. Sure, friendliness is part of the job – but she went above and beyond. She checked in regularly, was genuinely funny, totally on our vibe, and just made the whole evening so much fun. She really turned a great dinner into a perfect night. Five stars, no question about it! 👏✨

Thoroughly pleased with our meal today. Andrew was our server and did a fantastic job between being there the moment we were ready for him and being great with our two young kids. After a week in Banff area - this definitely was the most timely and pleasant service we received all vacation. Speed-wise, beating out the “fast food” chains you’d expect to be quick and reliable. Food was exactly as ordered. Happy to see that Peyto’s cafe is still as good as I remember it. Thanks Peyto’s Cafe and team!

Nothing like a good meal after a day of hiking and nature. I ordered the Penne Bolognese and it was absolutely delicious with the portion being very generous too. Staff were nice as well. Highly recommended!

Really great restaurant! Located inside the hostel, the staff was attentive and food was delicious. As a vegetarian i absolutely loved the veggie wings so perfectly crispy. The poutine was also vegetarian. Will come back if im in Lake Louise
Ujesh V — Google review
They have multiple vegan options, but they’re haphazardly identified on the menu (they only have a vegetarian label). One or two dishes have “vegan” in the name, but several of the vegetarian ones are actually vegan or can be made that way, so you have to ask. I had the oatmeal for breakfast (plain, but large portion size) and the vegan buffalo wings for dinner which were very good and the only substantial vegan protein I’ve found in about a week in the region. Recommended if you’re in Lake Louise. P.S. I’m not sure why there are wooden sticks in the buffalo wings (are they trying to replicate the experience of eating off the bone?), just grab, twist, and pull, and they come right out.

Nestled in the heart of the Rockies, Alpine Social in Banff is a mountaineering-inspired locale that offers a mix of modern fare, craft beer, cocktails, and brown spirits. The establishment's decor reflects the adventurous spirit of mountain explorers and serves as a rendezvous for stories of alpine adventures. With its rustic yet vibrant ambiance, it beckons both adventurers and gastronomes to indulge in its inviting sanctuary.
Came in for happy hour. Was blown away by all the fried food we ordered! best fish&chip ever. the breading was crispy, crunchy, light, perfect amount of moisture VS dry ratio. And the happy hour portion was HUGE. Our server, Paige was outstanding as well. Made our quick snacking hour a delightful and pleasant experience.

Food wasn’t terrible. The burger and the steak didn’t have a lot of flavor but the avocado and arugula salad and the chicken pesto pasta was really good. The servers were friendly. A few tables have a great view of the lake.
Rachael T — Google review
Pretty mediocre food. Burger tasted like frozen TV dinner, chicken wings were better. Service was mixed - no one greets you so we were standing in front while restaurant was fairly empty for quite a while until we finally asked if we could sit and they said we could sit anywhere. After being seated, ordering was also slow. That being said our server was nice and friendly. Unfortunately since we are staying at the hotel this was the only choice for a later night dinner.
Sophia H — Google review
The first thing is when you walk in no one greets or welcomes you so that was a bummer and also we had to sit ourself which was confusing. Other review said that the burgers didn’t taste good but my family said it was great! The pasta was really good but a little over priced for the amount of food and the shrimp tasted odd. Our server was really nice refilled our water often which was great. Sadly it was snowing but great views after!

Title: Extremely Disappointing and Unhealthy Experience My husband and I went for dinner at Alpine Social on October 16, 2025, around 5:15 p.m. after his conference. I ordered the Alpine Burger with fries and a margarita, while my husband ordered fish and chips with a beer. We left the restaurant around 7:00 p.m. Later that evening, both of us started feeling unwell. Our stomachs were bloated, and we experienced severe gas and discomfort throughout the night. Around 4 a.m., I developed extreme diarrhea, the worst I have ever experienced. My husband also became ill, though my symptoms were much more severe. Soon after, I developed fever, chills, and stomach pain. The following day, I could barely eat and stayed in bed all day at the Fairmont Hotel. I only managed a small amount of yogurt, chamomile tea, and some soup from room service. I also took Pepto-Bismol to try to control the symptoms, but the diarrhea and pain continued. By October 19, my condition had worsened, and I had to go to the hospital emergency department. Because of this, we had to cancel our entire trip including multiple hotels we had booked months in advance and fly home early that same day. We informed the Fairmont Hotel about what happened when checking out, and they said they would report the issue to the restaurant. However, we never heard back from Alpine Social. This experience completely ruined our trip and left me sick for over a week, from October 16 to 25. Even now, my stomach still isn’t back to normal. I would strongly caution others to be careful about what they eat at this restaurant. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend Alpine Social to anyone.
Amal A — Google review
Great view and great fish and chips. The server sucks, she doesn’t smile or introduce herself, she never came and ask how things were. Also the lowest tips are 18%. This is how they get you and there’s no where else to eat around there when you visit lake Louise. But the view is great!
Cynthia — Google review
We dined at Alpine Social for dinner to celebrate our 60th anniversary. We were greeted by our server Olivia with a beaming smile and such a kind personality. We had the nachos and they were plentiful and so delicious. The drinks were tasty too. I would highly recommend dining at the Alpine Social for a great experience!

Nestled in the breathtaking landscapes of Banff, the Post Hotel Dining Room Lake Louise is a culinary gem that promises an unforgettable dining experience. This upscale restaurant boasts a cozy yet elegant atmosphere, making it perfect for those looking to indulge in inventive cuisine with global influences. While primarily catering to hotel guests, they graciously accommodate outside diners when space allows—an opportunity not to be missed!
Dining at The Post Hotel was the highlight of our Lake Louise trip! Everything was great from start to finish! Dinner is a 4 course prix fixe menu, plenty of options to choose from. I loved the bison carpaccio and my cod fish!! The service from Yves was amazing, he made our night a lot more enjoyable! Cocktails were great, wine was great, food was amazing, just a perfect evening! This restaurant is worth the trip, you won’t regret it! It was also amazing the hotel helped us arrange transportation back to the Fairmont where we were staying, as mentioned, everything was great from start to finish!

Old world elegance, cozy surroundings, light piano play in the background, and a lovely dining room to spend an anniversary dinner and splurge on an amazing bottle of vino if you get the chance. It was wonderful to be back here again after a long hiatus. Fantastic service, cheerful sommelier, delicious offerings thoughtfully prepared and presented. I’ve come across few hotel based restaurants that can bring this pedigree of experience to bare, and even even fewer in sleepy little mountain villages, and thus I think the price point is commensurate with the experience. Thankfully they have a wonderful little companion pub downstairs to help balance the dining stay budget whilst here at the lodge, which we also enjoyed thoroughly, and made it that much more special to settle into an evening of fine dining here. So very yum. Well done. Ps- I especially enjoyed the combination of thick cut green and red tomatoes n their take on a caprese, with two types of balsamic, very nice.

If you want a nice high end meal this is where you go. Service was great and the food followed suit. We started with the bison tartare and the richness of the meat really enhanced the flavors of the ingredients. I had the caribou and it was absolutely delightful and everything on the dish went together perfect, I loved how much sauce there was to utilize. My fiancé had the miso black cod and she was also very impressed.
Pete S — Google review
I ate in the dining room twice for dinner and once for breakfast. On all occasions the service was excellent and the food was good. The ambiance is cozy but during my time there I didn't enjoy the music. There was a sort of cheesy background music of pop songs everyone would know, but on classical guitar. Then there came a guitarist playing the same type of songs live. It's not that this is bad music, but to me, it isn't well matched to a 5 star dining experience. Food-wise, from a vegetarian perspective, I really enjoyed the quinoa salad. Lots of interesting flavor combinations and textures. Highly recommend that! The risotto and cauliflower steak were definitely enjoyable but not exceptionally creative.

We had an absolutely amazing dinner at Post Hotel Dining Room. Our waiter, Cleverson, was outstanding—attentive, warm, and made the evening even more enjoyable. The food was exceptional. The halibut and sea scallops were perfectly prepared and truly some of the best we’ve ever had. Even the mocktails impressed us—especially the Juice-Tini, which was fresh, creative, and delicious. From start to finish, the experience was top-notch. Highly recommend this spot for both the incredible food and the wonderful service!
Mohammad K — Google review
The Post Hotel Dining Room is not your average hotel dining room. It is a first class restaurant, in terms of atmosphere, food, and service. Our waiter Sylvain was very professional, and in the course of the evening as the restaurant became less busy, and when asked told us quite a bit about where he came from and his experiences. We were still feeling the effects of an enourmous lunch, and had even contacted the restaurant to move back our reservatioin by an hour which they did for us. Hence we stuck to lighter things on the menu - including the Octopus Confit - an interesting dish that was delicious, the Pan Seared Deep Sea Scallops that were cooked to perfection, and the Pan Seared Sea Bream Filet. The dining room included a wall of wine, which was only a portion of the wine offerings. Downstairs was a complete wine cellar, that we just caught a glimpse of when walking by the stairway. The restaurant has won a number of awards, including the DiRōNA Award of Excellence in 2025.

We were fortunate enough to dine here. The service was top notch, food was beyond that with every attention to detail. We have dined in many 5 star restaurants and we put this up near the top. The experience was incredible! And wine selection is world class, wines that we know and hold dear to our hearts they had on their list. A night we will never forget.

The restaurant provides a refined atmosphere to enjoy New Canadian cuisine inspired by the Rocky Mountains. Guests can indulge in seasonal menus while taking in the spectacular frozen lake and glacier views. The art deco space adds to the ambiance, making it an ideal setting for a romantic alpine getaway.
What a great time! We were here celebrating getting engaged and had Emily as our server. First off, she’s fantastic! Personable, has great recommendations and knows the menu onside and out. I have a weird food allergy and she made sure to check with the chefs to make sure there were no risks which was appreciated. Drinks - they have a fun menu! Each cocktail is named for something in the area, and the wine selection is great. 10/10 recommend getting their Beef Tartare which is highlighted in our menu. Alba made ours right at the table and you can increase, decrease or omit ingredients if you so wish. It was hands down the best tartare I’ve ever had. We split the tenderloin and some sides as well. It was beautifully cooked, the shishito peppers were wonderfully spicy and the prawn add-on should be non-negotiable. We also had the Teriyaki Lion’s Mane appetizer which was interesting. Nothing to write home to, but worth trying if you haven’t had it before. Normally I’m too full for dessert, but I’m a sucker for Strawberry Rhubarb and their shortcake did NOT disappoint! We had a bonus dessert show up in the form of watermelon sorbet which was the perfect palette cleanser to end the night. If you’re looking for a nice dinner with a great view and excellent service, Fairview does not disappoint!

Visited for afternoon tea. The scone was delightfully fluffy and bursting with flavour, perfectly complemented by a rich dollop of cream and sweet fruit preserves. The assortment of desserts was visually appealing and a delightful mix of textures and flavours. The breathtaking view of the lake added to the overall experience. The attentive staff made the service exceptional.

We had dinner here one evening while staying at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise and enjoyed a relaxing meal while overlooking the lake. I dined on Alberta Bison tartare and jumbo shrimp while the others in my party enjoyed salads and chicken. Service was outstanding and the dining room was comfortable.

Their High tea was absolutely amazing!! From the view, to the selection of teas, the fresh finger sandwiches, buttery scones, and delicate pastries, every bite was an experience . The setting and view was out of this world and the best part was the high tea service. We were lucky enough to be served by Julia or as they call her “mama” she was attentive, caring, funny and made sure that my birthday experience with my friends were memorable. She went above and beyond. Honestly. I would totally recommend.

My husband and I had the afternoon tea at the Fairview and it was a beautiful experience. Julia A was our server and she was very gracious and hospitable, explaining the tea menu to us (we are not tea enthusiasts), giving us great recommendations, and attentive service. She even took our photo when tea was served to capture the picturesque views of Lake Louise behind us. The whole staff was very accommodating, granting us our request to be seated near the window for the views of the lake. Overall it was a seamless experience, from parking in the garage through our departure.

We went for afternoon tea and it was the most delightful experience. Every staff member we encountered was so detail oriented. I briefly couldn’t remember which name our reservation was under since we recently got married and I’m in the process of changing my name. I only briefly mentioned this and the hostess informed our server. They wrote “Congratulations” on our dessert tower in chocolate with little wedding rings. We were so touched. Luke was our amazing server. We absolutely enjoyed him! He was so great to talk to and was very personable. We will be back for sure. The non-alcoholic wine they serve is my favorite ever. It was perfect. The teas, the sandwiches, and pastries…absolute perfection. I also appreciate how accommodating and caring they were about me being a pescatarian. My husband was able to get the regular menu, while I got a mix of pescatarian and vegetarian. I appreciate that so much. This experience is worth the money. Side note: parking is $45 for the day. I was hoping they would validate it, but they don’t. So make sure to take that into account when planing.

This was a fun little experience for us and the kids. They were really nice to our kids even though they were exhausted and ready for food. The service was great. We got a few appetizers and some drinks. The views were amazing and it was a great spot to warm up. The scotch egg was the highlight!

can’t remember my server’s full name, but I could really feel how hard he worked to take care of our little ones! The price was high, but with service like that, I’d gladly come back and spend that much again. Thank you so much to our server — I think his name was Alex — the handsome guy with glasses! Thanks to him, our family had such a wonderful and happy time.

Nestled in the breathtaking Canadian Rockies, the Mountain Restaurant is a charming lodge-like eatery that offers a delightful array of globally inspired comfort food. With its cozy wooden interior and stunning mountain vistas, this family-owned gem has been delighting visitors since 1984. Whether you're craving hearty burgers, comforting pasta, or savory poutine, you'll find something to satisfy your appetite here. The Bison Burger paired with yam fries is a must-try for those seeking a unique taste experience.
As we sat down by their huge windows, we could not help but be attracted by the serene view of the glaciers and the snow-capped mountains. It was very enjoyable and relaxing. The waiter was very helpful and friendly. I had butter chicken curry and my wife ordered Cajun chicken linguine, both were excellent. For drink, we tried their Honey Brown amber lager. It even came with a chilled mug. We highly recommend this restaurant.

Surprisingly yum for a small neighborhood spot and simple menu. Though there wasn’t any new or unique offerings, all of the food tastes really fresh and were great portions. We ordered: Impossible burger (yummy fries) Thai curry (a little spicy) Greek salad (yum! Better than most restaurants) Chicken soup (forgettable, tasted a little out of the can)

Adding this stop for when we visit Lake Louise again. The restaurant is cozy and offers a great view into the mountains! As far as the food: prices were very reasonable and worth it! The bison burger was savoury heaven! Definetly upgrade to a poutine. The chicken linguini was super delicious as well! Don’t sleep on this place. Super kind and friendly staff too. Thanks for adding a good experience/memory to my tourist experience!

Mountain Restaurant located in Lake Louis village . Ambience is great with full of woods . View from restaurant is awesome. Employees are super engaging and great . Food is little expensive since it’s a tourist destination. I had a bison burger which was great all other foods we ordered was good .we can feel the wilderness while having food.

Ordered the Bison Burger with Yam fries. The food was really good. Patty was juicy, and the fries were nice and crispy. It looks like the menu had been updated a few times compared to the older reviews. Didn't see the mountain burger this time. They are a bit on the pricier side, but considering what was ordered and the location, I'd say it's pretty fair. The meal was $25.50 for one.

Nestled in the stunning Banff National Park, Mount Fairview Dining Room offers a rustic-elegant setting to savor updated Canadian cuisine and local wines. After exploring the contrasts of Lake Louise, from its turquoise waters to rugged mountain hikes, this dining room provides a white-linen experience in an old-world elegant yet relaxed atmosphere. Located at Deer Lodge hotel, it's a top choice for those seeking elevated Canadian fare and a taste of local hospitality.
This restaurant is part of the CRMR group and they maintain high and consistent standards. This one is set in a very rustic log cabin hotel in the middle of arguably the most scenic areas in Canada. The food was delicious as expected, ambiance was wonderful. The three of us had their duck confit, pork chops, and mushroom pappardelle, all fabulously presented and prepared. Their pricing, like many similar restaurants, had entrees ranging from $30 to $60 so won't be for the budget conscious but was in line with other quality establishments. I would recommend it for our car club's next dinner event.

The location of the place is great and the ambiance is good too. We had lunch here. The service was super slow. The food was coming in really late. It is expensive too. Some of the food items were good, some were not. The good ones were game meat burger, flatbread, cauliflower and garlic soup, molten chocolate with ice cream, vanilla cheesecake. The bad ones were farfelle pasta and veggie board.
Nikita J — Google review
We came here for Brunch to escape the cold. The chicken and waffles was one of the best meals we had on the trip. I kind of regret both of us not getting this. If you come for brunch, get the chicken and waffles. (The chicken and waffles deserves the 5th star.) I got a sampler plate with 2 eggs, 2 slices of bacon, 1 Buffalo sausage, a small breakfast steak, and some breakfast potatoes. It was okay, but nowhere near as good as the chicken and waffles. Service was a bit slow, but we were also there at a bit of a weird time (so I think there was only 1 person taking care of everyone in the dining room).
Brooks W — Google review
The worst service and one of the longest wait times for food ever. Avoid if you can. Yes we understand it is a very busy season during the 4th of July week and they are probably understaffed. But it is no excuse for the level of service (lack of) they provide. We sat at the bar, waited patiently for 10min without anyone greeting us. The bartender didn’t make eye contact with us once. And yes we had to ask to order food, and yes we had to ask for even water. Then the food never came. We checked in a couple of times and were told that the wait time is 50min - 1hr and so deal with I it. And yes all our food took 50min to come even the salads. And the food was very very meh and undercooked. Def a total rip-off considering the price point. :( At the end of course we had to go to the counter to ask for a check and a refill of water. Wish we had read some of the bad reviews about its lack of services…
Billy X — Google review
The only reason I am rating 3 stars is because the food is way overpriced. It tasted fine. However, for two people spending over $120 on two entrees, a small salad and two drinks was definitely not worth it. The wine I had tasted watered down and I couldn’t finish it. The pizza was alright, I ordered from the lounge menu. The bison my partner ordered was good but so small, maybe three or four bites worth. If you are going to want to spend some money on a nice dinner I recommend going to the Fairmont instead and you can expect similar pricing and better food.
Aimèe B — Google review
Food was surprisingly good. The outside of the restaurant doesn't look quite that inviting but once you step in it's like a totally different experience. I had their Atlantic salmon. It was described as having homemade tartar sauce and coleslaw, which I was kind of not sure about since you would expect that at a less costly restaurant, but boy did they deliver with an amazing tartar sauce and the coleslaw wasn't that bad either. It's salmon was cooked to Perfection perfectly seared on one side and moist and tender on the other. I did find however that the seared side was overly salty. I also thought that they should have included a bit more starch / carbs with the dish as the potatoes while amazingly flavoured didn't feel quite as filling. I had their peanut butter cheesecake for dessert. The cheesecake part of the cheesecake was amazing, especially with the chocolate sauce that they use for garnish. However I found that the crumb was a bit too sweet to balance with their berry coulis. I also didn't think the berry coulis was anything special. While it added a nice fresh tartness to balance the creaminess of the cheesecake, it didnt really go with peanut flavor. The best part of the night was their british server lewis. Overall id probably go again.

I Absolutely enjoyed our experience here. The service was phenomenal and prompt. Cutlery and dishes were spotless! And let’s talk about that view. Down right gorgeous. As For the meal, We went with a Game chorizo Linguine. Good size portion and fill our stomachs. If you’re in this area I highly suggest to swing by. You won’t be disappointed!

Beautiful location and view, but was very disappointed with the service. Very limited menu with no vegan options and very little for vegetarians. Definitely not a good place for children - outside of the comfy highchairs. The bathrooms were not clean and didn't even have changing tables. Food was pricey and wasn't great. Very hard for me to give such a negative review and I don't do it often, but in this case it is warranted.
