Ōmiwa Jinja

The Oomiwa-Jinja Shinto Shrine, dedicated to Mount Miwa, is an impressive location in Japan that offers many activities for visitors. It boasts breathtaking views of the mountain and features fanciful sculptures. The shrine houses the oldest path in Japan connecting shrines and cemeteries. Visitors can also drink God's water and witness the Hall of Fame of donors. The staff is friendly, and there is ample space to explore. The entrance road showcases a massive gate (torii).
What a marvelous place. There is also a pilgrimage you can do here. There is a mountain you can climb, at the top there is a temple. It is like 1 hour 30 minutes walking to the top, a bit difficult if you're not trained or do exercises frequently. The view is impressive. You need to pay and wear a talisman before going up. Be sure to read and ask before anything to avoid misconduct or causing trouble to the people. Remember this is a religious place and must be treated with respect.

This place is a little bit far from the city, so it is very quiet and feels peaceful when I go there. It’s the first Jinja I visited in Japan. Not very much tourist come here, mostly are local people. Luckily I saw someone having their traditional wedding there!

Beautiful shrine! Supposedly one of the first shrines in Japan (Izumo shrine also says the same). Dont forget the holy water at one of the smaller halls. It helps to cure illness.

Omiwa Jinja is a Shinto shrine located in Nara, Japan, known for its unique worship of Mount Miwa, a sacred mountain. The shrine is a place of spiritual significance and natural beauty, attracting visitors seeking tranquility and connection to the divine.

Very quiet most of the time with not a lot of tourists. I was there on the first of the month in June so there was a lot of people switching out their cedar branches and offering eggs and sake. Incredible to see.

GREAT Shinto shrine in Japan. Also known as Ichinomiya shrine of Yamato province. This shrine has sacred atmosphere. Many shrine buildings are impressive.

At first time, I mess with mixed up this place with the previous shrine. This is the main one, many kind staffs, and wide space. Famous of the hall of fame of donators, and you can see the big gate (torii) on the in-out road.

Shrine in the forest. Reminds me a bit of Ise or Izumo shrine. Not bad at all. We met an old lady on the train there and thought she'd talk to us for the whole time but in the end she didn't so kind of doged a bullet there. Nice lady tho very welcoming. Life is all about these little moments and exchanges.

Tanzan Shrine is a magnificent spiritual sanctuary situated in a forested hilly area with a 13-story pagoda, charming cherry blossoms and foliage that change color seasonally. The shrine is built on a highland slope and can be accessed via bus from Samurai Station, where the walk down to Ashland through terraced fields promises to be an unforgettable experience. The temple offers spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes and has tranquil grounds that provide peace of mind to visitors seeking spiritual fulfillment.
Place a pin on the map, maneuver your vehicle up the meandering road, not so deep in the mountain, stand a temple, a shrine, a hidden treasure full of stories. Even if we put all those studies aside, it’s still a scene, a view to behold. Quiet. Everything is really quiet. Tranquil, at ease, sublime, make your way through the hilly holy ground. Look up and back, there is another breathtaking beauty. Five star for sure. FYI, we were the only visitors during our venture.

I visited during snowfall, with few people around, making for a serene and beautiful experience. I truly enjoyed the moment. Took the shuttle bus from Sakurai Station—be sure to check the schedule in advance.

Amazing Shrine built on the hill. It required considerable amount of walking from the carpark with steep steps. The 13-storey pagoda was the only one in existence in Japan. With fall colours as the set off, the scenery was breathtaking. It's worth all the effort made.

After visiting the shrine, we drank a cup of cold Amazake at a store in front of the entrance. It was fantastic! (Jul. 2025)

Undescribeble tranquillity and peacdful place to visit it is not just the Temple but rthe surroundings as well that make the spot so beautiful really worth going
Joost V — Google review
I liked our visit at Tanzan Jinjia. It is a very quiet place surrounded by nature and located on the side of a small hill. The ascent to the top is very peaceful and from there you will have a nice view. To get to the top the train in the forest is also a picturesque one. When we were there not many people were visiting which made it a better experience. Close to the entrance there is a parking spot if you are coming with a car but we used the one located next to the convenience store which was free and empty considering that there were not many people around.

Absolute fun on an Autumn day. Now is the time. Leaves reaching peak. Interesting 500 year old temple converted into a massive shrine especially for those seeking love. Great little udon place reasonable just to the right of the main entrance. Parking near ¥1000 in November but free lots nearby with a little walk. Don't turn sharp left to the shrine direct but continue down the road above to free lots. Just a lovely day trip. Area has other shrines, temples, and museums in stunning scenery. Even the Lawsons are in old style buildings.

Great historical Shinto shrine in Japan. Also known as the shrine dedicated to "Fujiwara Kamatari", influential member of the government of the Asuka period. This shrine has sacred atmosphere. Thirteen-storied pagoda is impressive.

(Translated by Google) After visiting Ogami Shrine, I decided to visit the other shrine next door. The path in the shade, known as "Kusurimichi," is cool and pleasant. The shrine is smaller than Ogami Shrine, but the moss-covered roof is lovely. Behind the shrine there is a place where you can draw water, which I assume is spring water, and I was given a paper cup full. The water was very soft and delicious. A notable and aged Buddhist shrine, Abe Monju-in, was built in 645 AD and boasts various significant sculptures. The temple is adorned with lovely blossoms that vary with the seasons and features a pagoda situated on top of a pond. One of its remarkable highlights is an enormous statue of Buddhism's Monju Bossativa perched on top of a lion. This place exudes tranquility and beauty, particularly during springtime.
Nice place for visiting and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

Because Abe Monju-in has been targeted as the next shooting location by the class planning, I visited there the other day for location cousting. Professional photographers make it a rule to perform some pre-show inspections and rehearsals. Following their manners and customs, I did it to the place in spite of rainy condition. It took me one and a holf hours on Kintetsu Osaka Line to Sakurai St. from Amagasaki. Transportation from Sakurai Srt. to the destination was poor, so taking taxi cab would be favorable if a group use with 4 members, no argument, fee 950 yen. Golden Ukimi-do, Nakamaro-do was difficult to shoot, because the behind scenery was all surrounded with blue sheet. Several Cultural Heritage are kept inside, ask it's Website.

Mount Miwa, located in Nara Prefecture, is a sacred mountain that requires special permission for pilgrimage to its top. Visitors can enjoy a contemporary lounge at the restaurant and take in the beautiful view of Mount Miwa after their meal. For those seeking gourmet cuisine, LAuberge de Plaisance Sakurai is recommended, but reservations are essential due to limited availability.
Beautiful place for an easy hike. Less than an hour to the closest viewing spot.

It's a pretty steep climb and the return trip is also dangerous, so it's a bit scary if you don't have a cane. A cane is an absolute must! ️. Since this is a visit to a shrine rather than a mountain climb, no unnecessary private conversation is allowed. I actually climbed it. Once you climb into the shrine, there are no toilets at all. It is important to always relieve yourself before climbing. The climb to the top was quite steep and hard. However, I felt an indescribable sacred feeling and I was grateful. I drove through the large torii gate and parked at the free parking lot No. 6. After walking along the approach and visiting the second torii gate, Haredo Shrine, and Omiwa Shrine worship hall, I received a goshuin stamp. There were several shrines that we visited on the way to Mt. Miwa. I applied for worship at Sai Shrine and received permission from the priest. From here, you can't do anything that isn't related to worship, not mountain climbing. After climbing the shrine, I felt very refreshed. (Translated by Google) This was my second time climbing the mountain. I had left my luggage in a coin locker when the Sakurai Station to Miwa Station bus left, so I took a leisurely bus ride and finally arrived at the long-awaited Ichinotorii gate. I quickly took a photo, surprised that it was in such a place, but later realized the morning sun was reflecting in it. How beautiful. We started the climb at 9:25 and descended at 11:15. We had a very relaxing time praying. The weather forecast was ☔️. I brought a raincoat and prepared for rain along the way, but it didn't rain at all, and I felt the protection of Amaterasu Omikami. Thank you. I can't write about what happened inside, but there were times even in the mountains when I felt the presence of the sun and Amaterasu Omikami. I'll definitely come again. This is without a doubt Japan's most powerful power spot. But after taking a rest at the top, I felt lighter and better than when I was climbing, so this might really be some kind of miraculous power. Hibara Shrine

Shinto shrine
Sights & Landmarks

Hibara Shrine is an auxiliary shrine of Omiwa Shrine and offers a unique and tranquil experience. The shrine's serene atmosphere provides a sense of old and new, quietness, and liveliness. It is a space that transcends human society's measures, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in its peaceful ambiance. While not featuring worship halls or temples, the shrine's enshrinement of Amaterasu Omikami and the impressive mountain behind it create a mysterious yet powerful feeling.
A big shrine of Shinto (cmiiw), where the local guides are really nice. Although some of us cannot speak Japanese, they were not hesitating to help us in English. This is her first time visiting shrine on outside world.

(Translated by Google) I stopped here on my way from Tenri Station to Miwa Station along the Yamanobe Road. This is the legendary site of Yamato Kasanui Village, where Emperor Sujin entrusted Amaterasu Omikami, who had been enshrined in the Imperial Palace, to his daughter, Toyosukiirihime-no-mikoto, and enshrined her there, erecting Shikihimorogi. During the reign of the next Emperor Suinin, Princess Yamatohime-no-mikoto, who was Toyosukiirihime's niece, traveled around various places and arrived in Ise Province. Even after the Ise Move, Amaterasu Omikami continued to be enshrined there as Hibara Shrine. For this reason, this place is said to be called "Motoise." There is also a Motoise in my hometown of Fukuchiyama City, but I felt that this place was closest to history. There is no worship hall or main hall, and worship is done through three side-by-side torii gates. It retains the appearance of rituals from the time when gods were believed to reside in mountains and rocks. I bought a booklet about the Yamanobe Trail here.

(Translated by Google) I always stop by when I'm in this area. The principal image, Jizo Bodhisattva, is impressive, but the national treasure, Eleven-faced Kanzeon Bodhisattva, makes you want to see its face again and again. You can park your car under the precincts, and there is a parking fee of 1,000 yen for a bus and 300 yen for a passenger car, which I paid along with the 600 yen admission fee at the temple office. There is a slightly steep slope from the parking lot to the temple grounds, which may be difficult for people with disabilities, so we recommend walking slowly. Inside the main hall, you need to climb about 20 to 30 steps to reach the hall where the eleven-faced Kanzeon Bodhisattva is located. As has been introduced in various places, the eleven faces were made in the Tenpyo period and were moved from Omiwa-ji Temple, one of the shrine temples on Mt. Miwa, to avoid the anti-Buddhist movement in the Meiji period. It was a secret Buddha for a long time, but it was widely introduced by Ernest Fenollosa and Okakura Tenshin. It is currently on display in a glass cabinet where the temperature and humidity are carefully controlled. Because it is made of glass, it can be viewed in 360 degrees, but unfortunately the smiling face has been lost. The halo has also been removed and it is now on loan to the Nara National Museum. It is a very beautiful Kannon with gold leaf remaining all over, but it is quite sturdy. This time, I went to see the Eleven-Headed Kannon, but I was actually shocked by the main image, Koyasu Enmei Jizo Bodhisattva. I had seen photos of it many times, but the size of the face makes a big impact in real life. It is a stone Buddha, but the colors remain very beautifully. The day I visited, the weather was fine and the face was white, but it seems that it will darken a little when it rains or the humidity is high. The Kannon Hall, which has won an architectural design award, is cool, and I was able to enjoy a relaxing conversation with the Buddha in silence, unable to hear any outside noise. I walked around the Buddha three times, counting all the faces, but no matter how I counted, there were never 11. It seemed that three faces had been lost, and I finally understood. Apparently this is a temple for praying for safe childbirth, so I found and purchased a Hello Kitty charm for girls. The Hidden Buddhas of Hozoten and Benzaiten were opened to the public from January 1st to 3rd, 2025. The National Treasure, the Eleven-Headed Standing Kannon Bodhisattva, can be viewed from the renovated Mido hall. Created in the 760s at Todaiji Temple's Buddha Statue Workshop, it is said to represent Emperor Tenmu's grandson, King Chinū. Protected by the Four Heavenly Kings, the statue features a front-standing Kannon and numerous other Buddha statues on either side, and a panel painting of 10,000 Yakushi Nyorai Buddhas on the back. It was later donated to the Nara National Museum. Though badly damaged, it is believed to have been a magnificent and splendid piece. With its well-proportioned body, voluptuous facial features, voluminous upper body, and delicately shaped fingers, it is a masterpiece of Buddhist sculpture. This Buddhist temple is of the Muro-shu school of Shingon Buddhism. The principal image is a statue of Jizo Bodhisattva. According to legend, it was founded in 712 as Henjoin, a branch temple of Mt. Tonomine Myoraku-ji Temple (now Tanzan Shrine). It was burned down during the battle between Myoraku-ji Temple and Kofuku-ji Temple at the end of the Heian period, but was rebuilt in the Kamakura period. During the Meiji period, when the Shinto-Buddhism separation order was enacted, the eleven-faced Kannon statue, the principal image of Omiwa-ji Temple (now Onaoneko Shrine), the shrine temple of Omiwa Shrine (Miwa Myojin), was transferred to Shorin-ji Temple. It seems that many people come specifically for the Eleven-Headed Kannon Bodhisattva, but I personally love the Jizo Bodhisattva, which has a relaxed and humorous feel. (I first learned about this temple after reading in a book that Shorinji Temple is home to a Jizo Bodhisattva with a unique atmosphere.) Photography is generally prohibited inside the temple, but there are some areas where it is permitted. The Kannon Hall seems to have undergone extensive renovations recently, as it has changed significantly since I visited two years ago. The Kannon Hall is air-conditioned, so it was cool and comfortable to visit, even in the summer. Temple admission fees have been rising recently due to inflation, and this temple is no exception. However, considering the likely cost of extensive renovations and maintenance of the Kannon Hall, it felt inevitable. Abe Monjuin Temple is also nearby, so if you are visiting for the purpose of sightseeing, we recommend that you visit it as well. Tōmi Shrine is a hidden gem for those captivated by Japanese mythology, particularly the deity Nigihayahi-no-Mikoto. This sacred site serves as a pilgrimage destination, especially poignant during the summer solstice when visitors can pass through a traditional straw circle and encounter an attendant snake. After offering prayers, guests often receive a Yatagarasu amulet, adding to the shrine's allure for mythology enthusiasts.
Wow, what a hidden suprise this was. In winter, beautiful...probably even better in autumn. So calming to walk around the main section. I am told there are many treks you can take to different parts in the hills & woods that surround this. Will make sure I have time next visit to try some of these.

Nestled in the serene landscape of Japan, Yoki Tenman Shrine is a historical gem that dates back to 712 during the Nara period. Originally established as a branch of Danzan Myoraku-ji Temple, it has become renowned for its association with easy childbirth and child-rearing. The shrine is home to the revered eleven-faced Kannon statue, which was once kept secret by American philosopher Fenollosa.
If you're coming from Hasedera Station, you'll encounter the entrance to this shrine on your way to Hasedera Temple. While there are some flights of stairs, you don’t need to descend all the way to head next to Hasedera. Instead, there’s a direct and scenic trail from the top that leads to the main temple. In addition to what you can see visually, there are actually stairs in other places as well, so you'll have to wonder if you can get to the main shrine in time! ? I thought as I started climbing the stairs. There are tall trees on both sides of the approach. The stairs are long, although I think they are gentle, and are covered in a beautiful moss carpet. I was completely out of breath, but I don't think it would be that painful for a normal person. (I know that I have been having a lot of shortness of breath lately) When you get to the top of the stairs, there is a steep staircase and at the top is the main shrine! I grabbed the handrail and went up and down. I wrote down the goshuin and put the money in the box. There was no date included. However, there were people from the shrine. It took about 15 minutes from passing through the torii to descending. I mentioned earlier that there is moss on the stairs, but I wonder if it is underground water? Yamada-dera Temple Ruins, a Nationally Designated Special Historic Site, dates back to the 7th century and was built by Sogano-Kurayamada Ishikawamaro. The site is located along an ancient road connecting Iware and Asuka, offering visitors a glimpse into the area's advanced civilization.

It is a special national historic site and is known for its principal image, the head of the Buddha (a national treasure, still owned by Kofuku-ji Temple), which was stolen from Kofuku-ji Temple at the end of the Heian period. When I came here 30 years ago, the foundation stones were exposed in a wide field and it looked desolate, but now excavations have progressed and explanation plates of the temple have been installed in various places. However, as a historical park, I cannot deny the impression that its development is lagging behind. It became big news about 40 years ago when the pillars and tile windows of the east corridor from when it was first discovered were unearthed. The renzi window has been restored and exhibited at the Asuka Museum. Meanwhile, I took a short detour to the Yamada Temple ruins as I passed through Iwayo Road. A white wisteria trellis was built on this site, and several families with children came by car. The ruins of Yamada-dera Temple are located along the ancient road that connects Iware, where the palace of the Yamato dynasty was located, and Asuka. This temple was founded in 641 at the request of Soganokura-no-Yamada Ishikawamaro, who sided with Emperor Tenji during the Taika Reforms and destroyed the Soga clan, a member of the same clan. Construction began on. Ishikawamaro participated in the political upheaval surrounding Iruka's murder and was appointed Minister of the Right, but in 649, he was suspected of plotting a rebellion and committed suicide along with his family at Yamada-dera Temple. Later, after the suspicions were cleared, Yamada-dera Temple was completed with the help of the imperial family. It declined after the Middle Ages, and was abandoned during the Haibutsu-kishaku movement in the early Meiji period, but was rebuilt as a small temple in 1892. It is also a sad place where Sogakura Yamada Ishikawamaro, one of the leading figures of the Taika Reforms, committed suicide along with his family. The local people may have set up a white wisteria trellis to hold a memorial service so as not to damage it. 三輪山本 is a serene and beautiful shop that has changed people's perceptions of somen noodles. The dining areas come in various sizes, offering a quiet and elegant atmosphere. Despite the long wait, the experience of savoring their nyumen noodles was delightful, leading to an addiction to their various thickness somen noodles. The store also offers higher-grade somen noodles for purchase, making it a perfect place for souvenirs or gifts.
(Translated by Google) Miwa somen has been made for 1200 years. The oldest store still in existence is Miwa Yamamoto, which was founded in 1717. Somen noodles are very thin and stretchy and are popular as souvenirs. You can eat here at the restaurant, so it's a good opportunity to stop by and eat. Bib Gourmand worthy. When I entered the store, it was full. Please wait in the large waiting room. In the meantime, buy souvenirs. Duck noodles 1298 yen tax included Chilled Somen 880 yen (tax included) The chewy texture of chilled somen noodles is irresistible. Even though it's so thin, I can feel the tension. The one I use is Hakuryu. Let's buy it as a souvenir later. It's good that the noodles retain their chewy texture even when they're warm. It wouldn't be surprising if this restaurant was chosen as one of the restaurants you want to visit and eat at least once. When I was wondering why so many people were waiting for somen, it was late in the afternoon, so I only had somen, but it was delicious! ! ! Since then, I've been hooked on somen. The thickness also varies. I usually buy the affordable 90, but today I have "white hair". Boil time is 30 seconds An instant boiled noodle set that will never fail! Both soup stock and noodles are included in the pack. You won't find Miwa Yamamoto's somen in supermarkets. If you want to buy something, come to Sakurai City, Nara Prefecture. It's fine if you go by car, but if you come by train, you'll have to walk from the nearest station, and there aren't many trains, so it's difficult. Also, I was looking forward to the meal as it is a famous somen restaurant, but I wrote my name down and waited before the restaurant opened and ordered some noodles, but it was obvious that they had been made in advance. There was nothing stiff about it. When you want somen to be delicious, you don't usually make it in advance. I had high expectations for my first Miwa Somen, but I was disappointed. Much later, I had a chance to eat Miwa somen at another restaurant, and I ordered some noodles that time as well, but the noodles there were chewy and delicious, so I decided to revisit Miwa somen. I almost ended up with the impression that somen was not delicious. I came to this region to visit my friend who is a native of this area. The Miwa Somen is a local specialty that are thin white noodles made from wheat flour. It is extremely thin but has a very strong texture to it. This restaurant happens to be run from one of the most famous and old traditional somen producers in this region. Although we ate this during the December, it felt like summer! The noodles were thin and strong and the dipping sauces was very tasty. There are several somen restaurants that are run by these traditional producers, but I found this restaurant to be most diverse in terms of their menu as well as their reputation.

I was the third on the waiting list, number 123, and the last to wait. I waited an hour before entering the restaurant, which had the atmosphere of an old wooden house with a Japanese feel. I ordered chilled somen noodles with tempura and persimmon leaf sushi. This time, I ordered a large serving of cold somen noodles (three colors) and some persimmon leaf sushi. I got three flavors: green (matcha), yellow (egg), and white (regular). The matcha had the tea's distinctive bitterness, which combined with the firmness of the noodles made it a great match for the dipping sauce. The egg was smoother than the regular version and also went well with the dipping sauce. The regular white somen had a firm texture and went down easily when dipped in the dipping sauce. The persimmon leaf sushi I ordered with it also had just the right amount of acidity and was delicious. Also, please note that the last order is a little early, at 3:00 PM. Kasa-soba

Kasa-soba, nestled in the mountains, offers an exquisite dining experience with its freshly ground soba noodles. These thin yet sturdy noodles are best enjoyed when paired with Zaru soba, boasting a delightful combination of warm noodles and a gentle soup stock. The rice served here is subtly light, complementing the fluffy and flavorful soup stock infused with the essence of burdock. On sunny days, the terrace seats provide a comfortable setting to savor your meal.

I wanted to feel the broth, so I ordered the hot boiled somen. My friend ordered the mugwort udon set. There was a set with sesame tofu and a set with grated yam soup. After much deliberation, I decided to go for the temple set with sesame tofu (this was either boiled somen or cold somen). For rice, I had bamboo shoot rice. Depending on the set, I got either rice balls or bamboo shoot rice. After such a deliberation, But the sesame tofu was a cute size lol The mugwort udon really tasted like mugwort mochi and looked healthy The soup stock was delicious and it helped me replenish my salt intake so I was satisfied The bamboo shoot rice in the set was a little burnt, which I liked It also came with wild vegetables, so it was a nice, gentle taste♪ It was so hot that I ended up asking for lots of refills of cold water But the waiter was very kind and told me to drink lots so I wouldn't get heatstroke♡ (Original)

It was a cozy eating place serving nyuu men (traditional soup noodle around Miwa area) and kaki no ha zushi (persimmon leave wrapped sushi). The set came with kuzu dessert.

Sakae Sushi

$$$$affordable
Sushi restaurant
Sakae Sushi is a delightful stop for anyone looking to unwind after an adventure, such as climbing Mt. Miwa. Nestled in a charming setting, this restaurant offers a cozy atmosphere that feels both sophisticated and welcoming. After sweating it out on the trails, guests can indulge in their delicious chilled somen sushi set or opt for the traditional eel bowl—both reasonably priced at 1,000 yen and 1,500 yen respectively.
(Translated by Google) When I went there on a weekday afternoon, there were only three people in the store who appeared to be filming a foreign YouTuber and two female customers. I ordered a set of noodles and sushi for 1,000 yen, and it was served immediately. I also ordered alcohol, and the soup stock was gentle on my stomach tired from drinking. I thought the noodles were a little soft.

The mackerel sushi in the Miwa somen sushi set was so delicious that I wanted to eat more of it. Other tastes are normal. I really liked the retro atmosphere of the store, which feels like time has stopped since the early Showa era. (Translated by Google) The restaurant looks as if time has stopped in the Showa era. It has a nostalgic atmosphere. The owner and his mother are very kind. I like light flavors, so the sushi was a little on the strong side (sorry, but it's just a matter of taste). The somen noodles also seemed a little on the soft side. But the cold somen noodles were beautifully presented and visually pleasing.

Compared to famous Miwa somen restaurants, it is very reasonable and has a very sophisticated appearance. It has a nice space! The eel bowl is 1,500 yen, and the chilled somen sushi set is 1,000 yen, so the prices are reasonable. The taste is old-fashioned and traditional. It was a restaurant worthy of being in front of the gates of Ogami Shrine. (Translated by Google) I visited this restaurant in the spring while walking along the Yamabe-no-michi from Ogami Shrine to Tenri, but it was before opening hours. The atmosphere was nice and the reviews were good, so I went back the next day after 3pm, but it was closed again. This time, I visited around 11am before going to Ogami Shrine and Byodo-ji Temple, and was finally able to enter the restaurant. I ordered a somen set, the somen wasn't cold, and the mackerel sushi was delicious but fishy, and the vegetables in the somen were probably made using the same knife, so everything was fishy. I was looking forward to the restaurant, but I felt betrayed. After visiting Omiwa Shrine, I went to Ikeri's store on the approach to the shrine to cleanse my palate, and I had somen and persimmon leaf sushi that were incomparably delicious for the same price. The owner, Ochan, was also kind and considerate, asking, ``Have you been climbing the mountain?'' I was happy that the aunty made me tea even though I didn't ask her to. International airport
Osaka International Airport is a hub for domestic flights and offers convenient rail service to Kyoto, Kobe, and other areas in Osaka. Nearby accommodations include Guest House Yadomaru, located just 500 meters from Tempozan Ferris Wheel, and Hotel Royal Classic Osaka in the city center. The airport provides easy access via monorail with clean facilities, fast internet, diverse shopping options, and a variety of dining choices available for travelers.
I was really impressed with Osaka airport in Tokyo, also known as Itami airport for its service, shopping, and decor. From its cute airplane mascot stuffed animals to the colourful moss mural, it brought life to the airport, which can be cold and lifeless. The shopping had interesting stores with great gift option, wonderful food, including soul satisfying noodle soup and ramen, to lovely treats. Gaming chairs at long tables and the sheer variety of seating and tables options was also a lovely touch and greatly appreciated. I was also shocked to see staff physically catching the luggage on the conveyor belt so the bags didn’t drop and get damaged. A woman was there right away when the conveyor belt started and caught the bags until another associate came to take over. That just doesn’t happen nowadays and it shows how much the staff cares. I also appreciated the Halloween decorations and the real plants that made the airport a living place. The Itami airport is not just a place to get on a plane, but a lovely way to explore and experience Japan as well!

Check in and baggage drop-off was a breeze. It is empty. Security was really fast with no line ups. Lots of food options and seating. Washrooms very clean. Faculties for kids and babies.

Convenient for the north side of Osaka, compact, clean, efficient. In fun facts, although the airport retains the “international” in its name, it serves only domestic routes. And Itami is of course in Hyogo rather than Osaka; the airport is on the border and has land in both jurisdictions. Competes with the bullet train.
Timothy P — Google review
It is one of the safest and cleanest domestic airports in Japan. Although it may have physical limitations and selected food and souvenir items, its restaurants and restrooms are good enough to ease the burdens of long travel. We look forward to flying in more domestic flights in the future.

We fly from Itami airport to Narita airport. The check in and luggage process were smooth and good, JAL counters were in North gate. There are some shops and restaurants before and after the security check. Very convenient and not so crowded. Plenty of sitting area to have some snacks from vending machines and souvenir shops. Access to Itami airport is quite easy and convenient. We use Midosuji subway to Senri-Chuo and change to Osaka Monorail. Hassle-free and all within 1000 yen.

Kansai International Airport

Kansai International Airport, located on a man-made island in Osaka Harbor, serves the greater Osaka area and offers convenient rail access as well as an adjacent hotel. Travelers can easily explore nearby attractions such as Wakayama Castle, Marina City, and the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage routes during layovers of a few hours. Additionally, the airport is connected to various train stations within Osaka City and beyond, providing easy access to shopping, dining, and recreational options.
I think it is the most convenience airport to enter the main city in Japan due to just walk straight and you can enter the train easily. Not complicated like other airport. Have a lot of restaurant on the second floor but one thing to remind for shopper who want to shopping in duty free zone, there is not many shops as you thought.

Arrived at Terminal 2 for the first time in early July recently by budget Peach airline. The plane was parked out in the tarmac and had to walk with no shade to the terminal building. It was also quite a bit of walk to the immigration section. There were a few kiosks to register first and then join the long queue for the immigration counters. To get to the city by train, must first get on a free shuttle bus to Terminal 1 which is where the train station is The shuttle was efficient and it was just a short ride. Overall it was not so bad, just a process to go through like most airports.
Google L — Google review
A large but very well-designed airport with a large selection of quality shops and restaurants and snack bars with a good selection of refreshments at relatively reasonable prices. The airport is very easy to get to, both by taxi and via the airport express. The modern security control is also very comfortable, as you no longer have to take electronic devices and hygiene products out of your hand luggage. As a passenger, I was very satisfied every time I used the airport's services.
Adam S — Google review
Check-in crew was professional and quick, security check was smooth and fast as well. It was my first time in KIX airport (departure) and I wasn’t aware there’s an additional shuttle ride required to get to my gate; thinking it’s just right around the corner while I casually shopped around for more souvenirs and a meal for in-flight. When I come to realize that a shuttle was required, I was worried I’d be late. I usually leave sufficient time if not more for boarding but that was a different story. Ofc, it was partially my fault too for not familiarizing with a foreign new airport. They have limited restaurants around the area I was going before the shuttle and a particular Japanese restaurant felt very hostile. The gift shop was very packed and was rather small with limited choices. The queue took forever which ended up wasting around 10-15mins for me and they weren’t very professional either. Had to walk quite a distance (two vending machines away) from my gate to a different vending machine to find some cola. Apparently Coca Cola isn’t that popular so it’s not available in all vending machines. Luckily I had plenty of time left to get a soda to cool off.

Nice airport. We landed without any waiting to get to a gate. Passing through the customs was fast. We filled out the entry form and declaration form on the flight so did not have to stop at any point. The airport is very organized. Pretty much every corner you will see staff directing people in Japanese English and other languages. Some tax free stores on the way out. Snacks, cigarettes, wine etc. Then we exited to the luggage claim. The luggage came out lined up with handles at outside so easily for us to grab. Again, very organized. The airport is clean and easy to navigate.

Quite a unique place. At this airport there is nothing that you will miss. All of the facilities and services are just right there. Well if you will be there during some rush hours then you should be not surprised that if you wanna buy some Japanese snacks you will need to wait for a while in a Que to n every store. But generally good experience for all. Thank you🤩

For Muslim Travellers, there is a Halal Certified Food Stall on 2F call Kiko Magimaru inside "Tasty Street" outlet. There are Muslim Prayer rooms for Muslimin and Muslimah on the 3F. Another Prayer Rooms are found inside Departure Hall. Praying mats are available. Muslimah is advised to bring their own telekong. Shuttle Bus to Rinku Premium Outlet is located at berth 12 at 1st Floor. Fare ¥300 only. Good if you have big luggage. Train Fare cost ¥370 and could be crowded.

Very modern and clean with clear English signs. Many seats and toilet. However, the seats with plug are not enough. Many food stalls are provided but most of them are quite expensive. The souvenir ahop and duty free provide lots of stuff that something cheaper than in town shopping😆 but close very early. At 9.30pm, many shops were already closed including the lounge!!!! About the immigration is quite slow, take long time waiting. You can get in town with many ways for example airport limousine bus, train.

Kobe Airport

Airport
Domestic airport
International airport
Kobe Airport is a regional airport located in the coastal city of Kobe, Japan. It offers a unique experience with its runway observation deck and rooftop gardens. The airport provides direct-rail service to Sannomiya, making it easily accessible for travelers. Situated on an artificial island south of Port Island, it serves various destinations including Ibaraki, Ishigaki, Kagoshima, Naha (Okinawa), Nagasaki, Sapporo and Tokyo (Haneda).
The train station is right at the doorstep of the airport, conveniently connecting you to Sannomiya station. It has coin lockers at 2F. 600 yen/ day for the large ones and 400 yen/ day for the smaller ones. We took an airport limousine (bus) from Osaka Umeda station (sakurabashi guchi, 2番), which costs 1000 yen and took ~1 hour. There's an open air observation deck at probably 3F, with a big brocolli statue.

Convenient, clean, functional, no hassle airport. East to access with the Portliner from downtown Kobe
Don A — Google review
It is small with one store inside after security. Ana and solaseed are to the left in arrival at terminal one. Bathrooms are ok with one squat unit. Other toolsets are modern but it’s a roulette wheel with the doors. There is many cafes and shops before check-in and security. Portliner train took 17 minutes from the city. Lovely city airport, I liked it. Domestic flights board ten minutes before departure and check in plus security closes 20 Minutes before which is good but stressful for the European and American 30 minutes before boarding time and 60 minutes before check in time.

First time using this airport from Kobe to Tokyo. It was small airport with everything that a passenger might need. -Shops (Family mart, Lawson etc.) - souvenir shops - restaurants - cafes - the best observation deck with small museum. The security are really fast and efficient the first airport that all in all didn’t took me long with all the process. 😊

Very convenient airport. Quiet and very quick to get through check-in and security. There is very little to do here though. So do your best to minimize any expected waiting time. There are a few restaurants and a cafe, the choice is exceptionally limited however. Once through security though there is nothing! Be warned. It is however very clean and efficient, which is always pleasant when travelling! Plus the staff are incredibly helpful and courteous which makes everything feel smooth and easy.

The airport was built on an artificial island, connected to the city via train, and to Osaka Kansai by speed boat. It was clean. Check in and security screening was fast. AirDo staff at Kobe was funniest and friendliest ones ever. They were holding teddy bear, dancing and waving to passengers while were boarding the plane.
Lê K — Google review
This was not just an airport, felt more like a lounge/shopping mall with an observation deck, play area where travellers could come and play piano, multiple restaurants, convenience stores and some very interesting art. Very diff vibe from other busy airports at Japan. Loved every minute of my wait here :)
