The island spans approximately 60 hectares and is home to thousands of friendly monkeys and birds, as well as a sacred Chinese temple for prayer.

Nice experience to interact with local boattraders . You can hv coffee and food for breakfast, fruit ,vegetables, and beautifull handicraft to bring along

Saturday - 25 Oct, Wake Up as early at 4 am & the boatman fetch me at the hotel from 5.30am and the jetty is walkable about 10 mins from the hotel only. About an hour later .. that's Lok Baintan FM at the river not canal manmade. Surprisingly not so much to see and a bit disappointed ( That's y I don't believe some reviews in Google and thought better from Bangkok FM - Overrated places & full of scammers) The local womens paddle the sampan selling Fruits, Veggies, Local Kue (Not much likely because too sweet) and others. At the end, I just spend abt 30 mins only.
AZARYL A — Google review
Floating market at Lok Baintan. You can go to this place to enjoy the traditional way of Banjar people trade on small boats. You can rent a boat from the dock then sail the river for about 45 minutes to reach the market. You should leave at 5:30 AM from the dock. Once you’re here, local seller with small long boat will approach your boat to offer their stuff, mostly fresh fruits, traditional snack, food, and souvenirs. This floating market ended at around 7:30 AM before the sun gets too hot.
Swastika N — Google review
A free trip from our hotel (Swiss-Belhotel). Nice view along Martapura river *the locals was taking their shower 😅 The LokBaintan market itself was lovely. The sellers will force you to buy their goods. Just be kind and do not nego. They are all local peoples who dont earn much. We bought all the rice packs from many sellers and give it back to the them for breakfast. The kue was nice amd delicious. Highly recommended.
Нора Х — Google review
Ive been here for like 4 times and it is my fixed itinerary if im travelling to Banjarmasin. Maybe other person will get bored by this place, but i just want to feel the traditional vibes. And i like it because its one of a unique an Indonesian culture. Even though some sellers tend to force you to buy their things, but im still enjoy it. What do you expect from a traditional market, right? If you have more time in banjarmasin, dont forget to visit this place. And for your information, if you stay in swisbelhotel borneo, you will get a free trip to Lok Baintan in the morning. They will start the trip at 6AM and will be back at the hotel at 8:15AM. I heard they also have a trip for any people for about 200k round trip, with free breakfast at the hotel. But you need to make sure about this first, hehe.
Andri K — Google review
A must visit place when you go to Banjarmasin area. Seller very nice and they will come tp you one by one ton sell their goods. Dont forget to eat local food like soto, satay etc in the boat. New experience!
Oei P — Google review
Bustling market, full of local colour. Go early to witness the sunrise and experience the floating market. You may want to try local food such as soto banjar and sate ayam or various delicacies
Lina J — Google review
Basicly it is a market above the water. Instead of using foot or motorcycle, they used boat to sell and buy things. The item from vendors has many variety. From natural harvest like banana, orange, sawo etc. Their taste is very good, most of them ripe by the tree. Besides that, they also served snack and breakfast like nasi kuning. Up to souvenir like t-shirt and accesories. To get there, you need to rent a boat from banjarmasin, around rp 400.000 and can accomadate up to 14 persons. You need to biard the ship around 5 AM in the morning, so you will arrived in location around 6AM, the best time to shop.

Nestled in the heart of South Kalimantan, the Meratus Mountains offer a breathtaking escape into nature. A group of university friends embarked on an adventure here in 2010, initially focused on studying bat diversity but found themselves captivated by the stunning landscapes and cool air. The four-hour journey from Banjarmasin airport was well worth it, as they were greeted with picturesque views and a vibrant river perfect for bamboo rafting—a unique experience that added to their thrill.
Amazing moment enjoy the nature and culture.

(Translated by Google) The view is really good, the air is still beautiful and cool. Well, the 4 hour journey from Banjarmasin airport is at least paid off by the views and clean air here. Plus, the river here is big, right? At that time our friend in Kalimantan invited us to go bamboo rafting! That was awesome. It feels different from normal rafting, although sometimes it's a pity to see the fathers rowing with the strong river current. But, that is LIT! Borneo is great... Very delicious soto (chicken soup in light broth), served with thick rice cake, egg & other condiments. They also sell chicken satay and other food, but seriously their soto is the best. The place is spacious however it can get crowded during lunch time. Live (traditional) Banjar music. There’s also some fruit seller at their entrance, you can ask them to cut and serve the fruit.

Depot Bakso Sapi Pal Satu is a must-visit culinary gem in Banjarmasin, especially for meatball enthusiasts. This popular eatery offers an extensive menu featuring various types of bakso, including beef, fish, and even unique options like bakso babat and pangsit. Beyond the delightful meatballs, you can also savor dishes such as kwetiau with chicken or bakso, nasi soto, gado-gado, and crispy fried duck.
They sell primarily meatball and chicken noodle, but also have variety of menu. Our favorite is their Lumpia Basah, and their Bakso Komplit also lovely. Still, they need to consider on moving to another bigger place or opening some branches.
Mohammad P — Google review
This is probably the best meatball in town. Clear tasty broth, delicious meatball. Not only the meatball, orange juice, soto sulung (soto originally from madura), tahu bakso (tofu with minced beef inside) are delicious too. The price quite expensive but worth it.
Nolianto A — Google review
This place has been running the business for many years. What I like about the food is they give you a whole lot of meatball with affordable price. The noodle also just as good as the meatball. One thing that I want to be slightly better is the hygiene of the place and food.
Hanny ( — Google review
They somehow managed to consistently serve tasty chicken noodle, meatballs, and succulent soto sulung for decades!
David R — Google review
Ads said that this place has the tastiest and beefiest meatball in town. I ordered chicken noodle + meatballs soup. The chicken noodle tasted flat, the meatballs were not that beefy. The only tastiest that i got here was the rice paper roll.
Fitra R — Google review
One of the best bakso sapi in town. Their pangsit kuah is worth to try as well.

This Indonesian and Malaysian specialty is prepared with various aromas like bumbu, kecap manis, and sambal, then cooked over charcoal fire and covered with a banana leaf. If you looking for traditional Banjar food, this restaurant will be one of the most checked list. There are so many dishes as seen in menu list with affordable price. The place is clean and has wide space to dine in. Fast respon from the service attendant. Very large of parking area. Available for online order such Gofood, Grabfood and Shopee food.

Pondok Patin Bakar is truly a must visit for anyone who appreciates authentic flavors and fresh river fish. Their signature Ikan Patin Bakar Sungai is absolutely mouthwatering perfectly grilled to bring out the natural richness of the fish, with a smoky aroma that’s simply irresistible. What really steals the show is the sambal perfectly balanced with a spicy kick and a hint of sweetness. This sweet and spicy sambal complements the tender patin beautifully, making every bite a delightful explosion of flavors. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, and the service is friendly and attentive. Highly recommended for a satisfying and memorable dining experience!
Arfah Y — Google review
First of all, this diner is a bit pricey, please bear in mind and prepare yourself 😀 The food is good albeit the serving needs quite some time but it's okay. Grilled fish taste good but oily as well, so you need to be careful if one can't tolerate high fat food. As always, order drinks with extra caution, ask for less sugar to the waiter unless you are a sweet tooth person 😀

Ikan bakar patin and terong bakar with sambal are very good. Unfortunately the restaurant is open and is very hot 🥵 To get AC room, you will need minimum 15 pax
Ayda S — Google review
Yes my time here was great. I adore their indoor setup, brings warm welcome to every customer and draw a bold line between the killing hot road outside with calm and cool breeze inside. Love the prompt service, love the hospitality of the crews here and especially love the food. Totally amazing taste! But yet need to be toned down a bit since everything we order this day a bit too salty. All the veggies we order including the Thai basil as the condiment are astonishing. Fresh, crunchy and delicious! Never taste vegetables like this before in my whole life. Even the bitter melon has sweet taste, very nice. I urge you all to try Sari Patin.

For a noodle holic like me, this kind of mie was not the best, but this mie has spesific taste, First time when we looked the color, we tought the taste will be hot but actually sweet with very light spice.
Irfansyah N — Google review
owned by one of the well known local (and national) celebrity that offer authentic Banjar style recipe, with a little bit twist.. fusion between local dan modern style.. the place is comfortable enough.. for takeway, peak hour or weekend's waiting time is longer than usual.. parking lot is limited, but is okay..
Jepretgrafer M — Google review
The best mie bancir in Banjarmasin for my family 👌 We often order thru grab/gojek as well 😊

Unique taste and flavor. A little bit similar to mie Aceh (probably?), with tomato sausage. Thank you for the great experience.

One of the best noodle shop in town.. Delicious noodle with authentic recipe.. have a big portion of ice tea..
Sigit S — Google review
I allready ate mie bancir at 2 different restaurant. And mie bancir at Agus' is better. The seasonings is good. But, you need cash to eat here. The don't take debit, ovo or gopay for payment.
Nathania P — Google review
Honestly I wanna give 5 stars, but when I see about antrian based who come first. They don't give option like that. I have waited for so long but they give to someone who just come. Hmmm... I hope you can give priority who someone come at the first.. just remember about antrian number. So your customer will not upset like me. I know.. your Noodle taste is so good, but it is nothing for me if you don't give a good services to your customer... Hope you can improve your services later. Thanks

One of the best place to get traditional Banjarnese food. Served various range of traditional food such as Pais Patin, sayur asam and many other “panggangan”. The sambal is very delicious! Can get very crowded at lunch. But its best to have lunch here because their food is very mouth-watering. Eventhough a lil bit pricey, its worth to try to have lunch here once in a while.

It is a fancy western restaurant located at the second floor of Crystal Bakery. This restaurant's interior is luxurious classic modern style. The foods and beverages mostly are western but modified with indonesian tante. The price is expensive but worth to try. My favourite main dish is lamb chop platter and my favourite snack is calamari. If you want arrange your special occation in this restaurant, i suggest to make an appointment first.

Nice for hangout, good design interior, instagramable, lot or range of menu. Pretty expensive but worth it. Large portion and tasty. Loves the lamb chop platter, tender and juicy.
Nolianto A — Google review
The place is comfortable. The toilet is clean. We ordered cheese bread, fettuccine, and cordon bleu. The price is so high for me, but my friend paid it all XD. The fettuccine (65k) is the most delicious one i have ever ate in Banjarmasin. The hot milk banana is so fresh. It worth the price. We cannot eat it all, so full, so we asked the waitress to wrap it for us to take it home. Definitely will come again.

Transportation in Banjarmasin

Getting around Banjarmasin can be a little daunting if you’re new here. We can help list some of the major public transportation methods if you don’t want to rely on a car.

Nearby airports

Syamsudin Noor Airport

International airport
Airport
Domestic airport
Syamsudin Noor Airport, located about 25 km outside of Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, has seen significant updates and renovations to accommodate the growing number of tourists visiting Kalimantan. The airport is serviced by various airlines with flights from Jakarta, Surabaya, and Balikpapan. The recent expansion includes a new terminal with increased waiting areas, shops, and dining options. Additionally, upgrades have been made to the infrastructure and runway capacity to enhance operational efficiency.
2 times landing & transiting at this airport, I can say that this airport is very nice & cultured, when arriving we will be greeted with an area that introduces one of the typical woods, namely ulin wood. Many souvenir shops are available for souvenirs, the boarding room area is also very spacious & many seats are available, food & drink tenants also offer a variety of choices, including convenience stores for needs that you might need, both in the arrival & departure areas. Announcements are also made in 3 languages, Indonesian, English & also the native language of Banjar. It was very pleasant to stop by this area, the room for improvement that may be needed is the arrangement of transportation facilities to be more neat & informative.
Ariq R — Google review
Came here for a work trip. For a regional airport, Syamsudin Noor is surprisingly big, modern, and clean. The place feels very spacious and comfortable, though there are still a lot of empty areas and not many tenants inside. So, if you’re hungry, better grab a meal outside before heading in since food options are quite limited. Flight choices are also not that many—mostly Lion Air and Super Air Jet, with some Citilink and Garuda flights available. Toilets are generally clean, but I noticed the one near the prayer room at Gate 8/9 departure area wasn’t well-maintained; floors were wet and water was pooling without being cleaned right away. Hopefully, maintenance improves in that area. Overall, it’s a good airport experience—comfortable and neat, just needs more tenants and better toilet upkeep.
Adi R — Google review
The airport is fresh new so very clean and tidy…the only problem is waiting to get baggage it takes more than 30min..if many flights arrived is acceptable but only 2 flight arrives..please improve on this matter and i hope this airport can be more enjoyable
Cris H — Google review
Syamsudin Noor International Airport, is an international airport in the city of Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan. This airport has received massive updates and renovations, so that in terms of area, the number of waiting rooms, shop tenants and places to eat is quite a lot. The location has indeed become farther away than the previous airport, but in terms of accommodation for planes and passengers it can be much more. the car park is also quite large and can accommodate many vehicles
Hendrawan K — Google review
Very impressed of the new airport that is spacious and clean. The parking area is also spacious. It will take around 30 minutes to the central town. You can either book a driver before arrival or order a taxi from the airport. We ordered the driver from Traveloka. It cost Rp 200.000 or around $15.
TravelBeib — Google review
Balikpapan Airport is modern, clean, and easy to navigate..
Rurray A — Google review
One of my worst experiences with airport service. There were no staff members visible anywhere. There were two flights to Jakarta scheduled just 10 minutes apart, so my flight was bound to be delayed. However, there was no information provided by anyone. There was no air conditioning at all. I believe there is no system in place to review customer satisfaction. Overall, a clear example of very poor management.
Jimmy S — Google review
This airport has just been inaugurated if I'm not mistaken in 2019 or 2020, but until now there are still many empty spots, maybe the effect of covid. In my opinion, this airport is very spacious, from arrival to departure you have to walk quite a distance, it would be nice to have a small trolley to make it easier to carry goods to the boarding gate. there is a prayer room, the place is quite spacious and clean. Pick up by gocar or grabcar is not possible, but for delivery to the airport you can use online transportation.
