Fish and chips takeaway
Grosvenor Fish Bar is a well-established fish and chip restaurant in Norwich, serving classic British dishes for over 90 years. Housed in a historic listed building from the 1700s, the restaurant has undergone a stylish refurbishment, blending contemporary elements with rustic designs. The menu offers traditional favorites like battered haddock with chips as well as daily specials such as Mexican spiced cod tacos.
Best fish and chips in Norwich. Located in the very city center this vintage place is a must. Very good service and the variety of delicious and large meals. Ee have tried burgers and the large portion of fish and chips were delicious. Definitely recommended

Had my first dine-in experience at Grosvenor Fish Bar and really enjoyed it. I ordered the whitebait which was absolutely delicious, while my partner had the mackerel and loved it too. One thing I did notice though they used to provide Tabasco, but now you have to buy the “Chillie Bang Bang,” which unfortunately wasn’t spicy at all. Still, the food itself, especially the whitebait, was spot on and worth coming back for. I would highly recommend anyone to come over to get their fish & chips, or probably try the whitebait you won’t be disappointed!
Coyotito D — Google review
Grosvenor Fish Bar, an assuming American style quirky chippie that serves clam burgers and fried green tomatoes so tried them. The clam burger reminds me of canned clams from the US but the patty also had other stuff which gives it a garlic bread taste. The fried green tomatoes were a bit too hard for my liking while the tomato slices were not juicy. The basement of this restaurant is a must visit.

Came here 2 and a half years ago and the flavour of the fish n chips was incredible. I decided it was the best fish n chip shop I’ve been to but unfortunately the last 2 times I’ve been all of the food has been extremely bland.
Oliver D — Google review
DISAPPOINTED! I used to come here years and years ago when it was ran by a different owner. That owner made this place the best Fish and Chips place on planet earth. Now it’s just NOT the same. Very disappointed ☹️ There used to be all kinds of free sauces, chilli powder salt, like you could tell they wanted everyone to have a good experience. Everything used to be perfect. Now it’s nothing but disappointment. I won’t be coming back here but I’ll be going to the chip shop in the market instead. Truly disappointed as this used to be my favourite place to have fish and chips. Also chilli con chips is terrible. Go to any other place and you’ll get amazing meaty chili con chips, here their default is veggie. So idk you could make it at home better than this. Please to better then maybe you’d get more people coming here. This place used to be impossible to get a seat it was that good. Now it’s just sad honestly sad. Really wished it was like how it was before💔
Angelina C — Google review
We're local pensioners and have often passed the shop, packed out with customers as rule. Out of our budget and has been for years, sadly. Except on very special occasions. Still, when our son and family popped up from London and wanted to spare me cooking, I suggested good old fish and chips and quite naturally chose the one that I had seen was very popular. It wasn't special though. The cod wasn't flaky and was more like frozen reformed, apart from the skin. No bones and soggy. The batter oozed cooking oil. So, together brought back memories of a pretty typical corner shop that rarely changed its oil and set the temperature high. The chips were plentiful but not left in long enough, or the oil hot enough. So not crispy on the outside. A lot of chip shards rather than full size chips. Good old fish and chips indeed. Shame. No comparison to the Sheffield fish and chips we had at Christmas. With the price of cod and chips so high, we'll wait until Sheffield at Christmas once more. Too expensive to try the other local chippies. Sad. We had to reheat them as the delivery guy had another order to pick up elsewhere before coming to us. I didn't know they did that. Might have been far better eaten in the shop. Not the chippies fault of course.
Pamela K — Google review
A delicious English fish and chips. The batter is crunchy and not so oily which paired well with the cod fish. Haddock taste is stronger and the meat is harder. A generous plate of chips can share 2 person. The fried tiger prawn is good too. Love the ingredients which are fresh catches. Recommend the mushy peas for the side. The basement seating place is cooler but it’s oily everywhere which make us uncomfortable.
Edo L — Google review
Grosvenor Fish Bar truly lives up to its reputation – it probably serves the best fish & chips in the city, or at the very least, it’s definitely one of the most highly rated spots for a reason. The fish is crispy, the chips perfectly cooked, and everything tastes incredibly fresh. Despite a long line of delivery drivers picking up orders, the service was impressively fast and efficient. The staff were friendly and kept everything moving smoothly, which made the wait feel minimal. I also tried the sea bass roll – a delicious surprise! Fresh, flavorful, and a nice change from the usual options. Prices are a bit higher than the market stalls nearby, but the quality more than justifies it. If you’re looking for a proper fish & chips experience in Norwich, this is the place to go.

British restaurant
Benedicts is a compact brasserie in Norwich, known for its locally sourced fresh food and relaxed atmosphere. The restaurant offers carefully honed set menus with vegetarian and vegan options, as well as a three-course set lunch menu. Run by chef patron Richard Bainbridge and his team, the establishment prides itself on hospitality paired with fine wines and local produce. Diners can enjoy dishes like braised lamb with Jerusalem artichoke and Cromer crab tartlet.
Had an absolutely fantastic lunch at Benedicts in Norwich with my wife. We went for the three-course set lunch, and wow—it was amazing from start to finish! The absolute star of the meal was Cod main. Just incredible. The wine selection was spot on, with plenty to choose from, and the staff? Next-level brilliant. Super friendly, attentive, and really knew their stuff. It’s always nice when service is this good. Every dish was explained to us upon delivery. If you're in Norwich and fancy a meal that feels special but still totally relaxed, Benedicts is 100% worth it!
Matthew C — Google review
To wrap up my girlfriend’s 30th, we went to Benedicts, and it honestly blew us away. We had the 9-course tasting menu, and every dish was a standout. Beautifully presented, full of flavour, and clearly well thought out, each course flowed nicely into the next. The staff were brilliant too. Friendly, professional, and never overbearing, they really helped make the night special. Meant to write this review a while back, it’s been some time now, we still think about that meal every now and then, and plan to go back soon.
Will — Google review
Took my partner here for his birthday recently, and wow - what a beautiful restaurant. We both chose menu 1, I chose the vegetarian menu for myself. The food was incredible, each plate was beautifully presented and a delight to the senses. Next time I think I’ll try the wine pairing too. The staff were so friendly and knowledgable, dishes were served very quickly. We loved everything and would happily visit again in future!

My oh my, what a first class establishment we are blessed to have in Norwich! The service was exemplary as staff knew the answer to every question we asked. They handled my allergy with professionalism and zero fuss. And all so young, a real asset to the team here. We really liked the option of picking the paired wines by the glass, as some people don't want the full flight. Now how to describe the food... imaginative, delicious, quality, beautiful. We are still talking about it a week later. A must visit for a special occasion.
Ellie E — Google review
We visited Benedict’s to celebrate my fiancé’s birthday last and l have to say what a truly unforgettable experience. The service was nothing short of exceptional. Attentive yet discreet, the staff anticipated every need with grace and professionalism, adding a personal touch. And the food an absolute triumph. Each course was a celebration of flavor and artistry. From the delicate starters to the perfectly balanced mains and the exquisite dessert finale, every dish was thoughtfully crafted and immaculately presented. Ingredients were fresh, seasonal, and elevated in the most thoughtful ways. Benedicts is more than a restaurant it’s an experience. A place where culinary excellence meets impeccable hospitality. Highly recommended for anyone seeking something truly special.
Winona M — Google review
Beautifully put together menu, we went for menu 2. The rice cracker aperitif and lobster ravioli were our favourites. Service was attentive without being too much. One of the gems of the Norwich food scene.
J T — Google review
A fantastic evening at Benedicts. Our first visit but it will definitely not be the last. We had the set menu 2 and out of the all the fantastic dishes, the Lobster ravioli and ex-dairy cow sirloin were the absolute stand outs for us. We also had the wine pairing which was an excellent compliment to the meal and our waitress did any excellent job of giving a full run down on each, giving the detail of the wine and why it had been paired with the dish. Very professional team, friendly atmosphere and great food. We will be back on our next trip to Norwich.

A great dining experience in Norwich. Got the booking easily when we had gone during the day around city centre. Great atmosphere, delicious food, courteous staff. One of the best English cuisine we have ever had. Definitely worth visiting in Norwich.

The Old Fire Engine House

English restaurant
The Old Fire Engine House in Ely, England is a welcoming eatery serving British cooking with flair. The restaurant has open fires and artworks for sale, as well as a garden. The food is great, and the atmosphere charming and unique.
Food was delicious. Perfect weekend brunch and lunch spot right in the heart of Ely. Had to make a reservation at least a week in advance for a weekend spot. Only complaint was the small portion, definitely left wanting more! Hoping to go back soon!
Thomas B — Google review
The restaurant has a bar, two dining rooms with a kitchen in between, outside seating for those warmer days and a gallery. Artwork adorns the walls, and visitors will wander about the tables whilst you're having your meal. On the day of our visit, the radiators were on full blast, but it was a tad cool. A 2 or 3 course set menu is reasonably priced, available alongside a more varied menu of British classics. When was the last time you saw Liver and Bacon on a menu?! The braised beef in red wine was very tasty but a bit dry. Venison casserole was delicious and served with a selection of vegetables. A large wine list with several good wines by the glass. Desserts - we enjoyed blackberry and apple crumble and chocolate mousse. Both were very good.
Richard — Google review
Outstanding home cooked british food. Service is good, but the chef is outstanding, some really good traditional fare. I had roast pork with trimmings. Great vegetables. The other members of the party had roast chicken in a white wine sauce and salmon and lemon sauce. All were very good, desert were equally traditional and good.

Beautiful intimate restaurant in Ely The old fire engine has been a stable of Ely for many many years and my family have always enjoyed eating here Beautifully presented hand cooked meals, fresh vegetables and delicious puddings
J ( — Google review
Absolutely superb. Great food, lovely atmosphere. This is not a fast food restaurant (see others' reviews about the allegedly slow service') so the small wait is definitely worth it. I'd advise you book as when we visited ( mid-week) it was nearly full. The ladies running it were lovely and helpful. A wonderful find.

We ate here on October 31st and the food was absolutely delicious. The staff were incredibly friendly. The food was prepared fresh and it tasted amazing! This was our first time eating at The Old Fire Engine House....we will be back!

Spent a genial evening marking a birthday in this special Ely institution. Good idea, Husband. Delicious food, generously portioned. Home cooked recipes with locally sourced ingredients. The wine list? Knockout. Well balanced, well priced and well kept. The surroundings and first floor featured a blizzard of work from Father & Daughter artists, The Corrs. Highly recommend - drop by for a coffee & cake, lunch, dinner.

We hosted our wedding reception of c.60 guests here, and I cannot complement Claire and the team enough! We’ve frequented the OFEH for a number of years as the quality of the food is superb, and when catering for a sit-down meal of this size the quality did not disappoint (many a complement from “foodie” guests) and service didn’t waver. Claire was wonderfully cool headed and could not have been more perfect in her management in the months running-up to and during the reception. They had excellent food options (catering to vegetarian and vegan), knowledgeable recommendations, and were flexible and responsive in terms of how we hosted (we managed to have the champagne/canapés and the end cheese course in their stunning gardens). It was just the ideal ambiance. They really helped make the day utterly perfect and we—and our guests—cannot complement Claire and the team enough for delivering!

The Northgate is a charming boutique hotel located in Bury St Edmunds, offering luxurious rooms and upscale dining. Housed in a Victorian villa, the hotel has been elegantly refurbished with chic and modern touches. The property features a stylish restaurant and bar, as well as a beautiful garden with a Spring Garden Tipi for outdoor dining experiences. The 9 guestrooms are tastefully decorated and equipped with modern amenities.
There's nothing bad that can be said about the Northgate. Rooms are splendid, luxurious, and everything worked as it ought to, and was spotlessly clean. It's a shame the hotel no longer has its restaurant and bar and staff and reception and all the things that gave the place its terrific reputation in Bury St Edmunds, but alas they are gone. The hotel itself may soon disappear. It is for sale, and the very friendly cleaning lady told us that most of the potential buyers want to convert it to residential. That would be a shame, so stay there whilst you can!
Adrian L — Google review
Somewhat of a strange experience. It's less hotel, more Air b&b. It's an unmanned former hotel where you collect keys from an external key box and then let yourself come and go without seeing any staff. Fine for me, but this may not suit everyone. Excellent location for the centre of town, good sized, well appointed rooms and a reasonable amount of on site free parking.
Nick G — Google review
Room looks magnificent, bed comfortable. But there's no water in the bathroom, hot or cold, there's no answer on the telephone when you call to ask them to sort it out, and there's no response to email. So disappointed that I can hardly begin to put it into words. No idea where I can go for a shower before attending a funeral this afternoon.
Colin B — Google review
Beautiful meal had by the 4 of us. I had the beef cheek it was just stunning. Really good coffee too. The only criticism I would have is whilst the staff are all lovely and friendly they are not very 'attentive'. Don't do service checks, / ask if you need anything else / offer more drinks or check your drinks are coming when they can see you've been waiting. If they can nail that then 5 stars. I'd def recommend a visit and will go back.
Not B — Google review
I booked a beautiful private dining room for a small wedding reception at The Northgate. The room was stunning (as was the rest of the restaurant). The food was sublime! Every single dish was delicious and all of our guests were extremely pleased. The service was fantastic from start to finish. Chris was very accommodating from the initial book process and so helpful - made my life very easy. My husband and I will be coming back here each year and would recommend this place to ANYONE!
Ifrah P — Google review
I happened to chance upon the cocktail bar at The Northgate after this was recommended to me. The hotel is built in a Victorian house and you notice how lovely it looks inside as soon as you enter. I did not get an opportunity to stay in the rooms there or have dinner there though, but I did notice how well designed and decorated it looked as I walked in. At the bar, I was greeted by a lovely gentleman, who I’ve been told is David, the General Manager of the hotel. David asked me what my preferred choice of cocktail would be and when I mentioned a Sidecar, he instantly agreed to it with great enthusiasm and graciously made me a Sidecar which wasn’t even on the cocktail menu. And oh my, was it delicious! I was left so impressed by the fact that he’d agreed to make a drink which there was no need for him to agree to, or no expectation to even know of, but therein lies the skill of a mixologist, in my opinion. He offered a few other choices as well, but I wound up ordering the same again based on just how good it was. Thank you David, and well done, Northgate, you’ve got a keeper! Needless to say, I was left a happy and content man by the end of the night. 😊
Dev — Google review
The food was lovely, I had the plaice 2 ways and was very happy with the egg Custard tart! Interior was very nice and the temperature of the room was comfortable. The service was pretty good, and the only thing I would say is the toilets need some attention, but it wouldn't stop me from going back again!

Just wow! Stopped for a random lunch on a Sunday afternoon and I can't get over how amazing the food was!!! We had a beef roast, halloumi, fish and a chickpea salad dish. Presentation was super but above all, tasting amazing!!! Surroundings were so beautiful and service was fantastic. Thank you for a great experience, next time I'm in Cambridge, will definitely be visiting again!!

Roger Hickman's Restaurant, located in Norwich, has gained a stellar reputation since its opening in 2010. Despite being relatively new, it has been awarded three AA Rosettes and is highly regarded by both locals and critics. The restaurant offers modern British cuisine with a focus on high-quality produce, featuring dishes like crab salad with cucumber and avocado, as well as Norfolk quail leg and breast served with celeriac and apple.
3rd visit to RH for my friend, 1st for me, RH did not disappoint again. We had the premium tasting menu. Each course a delight to the taste buds, pure bliss. Our waiter was very knowledgeable in explaining each course, very friendly and polite.

Food - see the comments on each photo. We enjoyed the meal overall, but not so sure if it is meeting the Michelin standard only based on our experience tonight. Value for money - we visited on a Saturday night. I'd recommend trying it on weekdays eve or lunch. Service - They were very nice & hard working but needed to be trained in different areas, especially in a Michelin restaurant. The young lady who served us unfortunately didn't know how to serve wine, and forgot our water. We are supposed to have the coffee & Petit four in our premium tasting menu, but she told us it's a supplement & costs extra (that's indeed applied to the five course menu). She seems not familiar with the menu. Thanks for the great Saturday eve and all the very best to RH's restaurant.
Dawn L — Google review
The food was brilliant. We both had the 7 course and a premium wine flight. Service was very good and the entire evening was fantastic. Staff were attentive while still giving you enough space to chat and enjoy the evening. Never made to feel out of place or that we didn't know enough to appreciate the food or wine.
David F — Google review
My partner and I went here for lunch after a stressful morning and decided to go for the 3 courses. It did not disappoint at all. First of all, it's a nice clean restaurant. The staff are lovely and make you feel welcome as soon as you come through the door. We were a little late for our booking but they didn't mind. It had a real decent list of drinks, especially wines, but we decided to go with a craft ale. We recieved an amazing amusebouche (complimentary pre-starter) and freshly baked bread whilst we waited for our starters. It wasn't too long before the starters arrived. All the food was great, we had a cheese board to share which they kindly brought out to us on separate plates. We decided to have a coffee to top it off at the end, which came with delightful little chocolates. The service was brilliant. Our waiter Richard was polite and attentive and explained what was in each dish with a lot of detail. A true fine dining experience. Thanks to Richard and the team! Can't wait to go back

Totally amazing restaurant, quite possibly the best meal I've ever had. Everything was presented and cooked to perfection. The quality was second to none, the service was incredible and the information about each dish was first class. It is without doubt the place to go and I'm looking forward to going back again.

Amazing food and superb service. We done the taster menu which is well worth it. Seems pricey until you have been and experienced how good it is. Can't fault it at all. Can't wait to go back again.
Nick C — Google review
Small, intimate restaurant in a lovely part of Norwich. Menu was simple, and the food not overly fussy. We had the 3 course lunch for £30, and left feeling the right level of full. Highlight was the pork belly, puy lentils that came with the tortellini and the Bakewell tart. Low point was the mushroom tortellini which was too raw and not enough depth of flavour. Staff were friendly and very attentive.
Robin S — Google review
Excellent service, amazing food. Definately 5 out of 5. Instead of the tasting menu, we decided to go for ala carte, 1 starter and 3 main for everyone. Love it ❤️

Midsummer House

Fine dining restaurant
European restaurant
Midsummer House is a Victorian-era riverside cottage in Cambridge, offering elegant French cuisine in a charming setting. The restaurant is located near the River Cam and overlooks the greenery of Midsummer Common. The glass-roofed conservatory dining room provides picturesque views of the walled garden and creates a French ambiance with its formal staff and theatrical Champagne trolley.
This is was an experience well worth the price tag. I live near this restaurant and walk by it every day. From the outside it looks nice but unassuming and on the inside it is much the same. However, it is like nested dolls, when you think that is it there is still more. I loved it. I left the experience feeling like I had spent the day at a spa. The food was delicious but also interesting. My favourite was the pigeon leg because it was very evocative. For the taste I loved the first course and the bread. My husband and I finished the meal with digestives and coffee upstairs in the parlour and it was perfect. Of course the service was exceptional but it was also unpretentious. I was expecting it to be very posh and stuffy even, but it was not. There was a homey atmosphere to the restaurant and to the service. I enjoyed every second and I highly recommend trying this place at least once.
Alexis S — Google review
A lovely experience overall! A must-visit spot for those staying in the area. Would highly recommend finishing with the desserts and garnishes in the outdoor garden. The integrated flavors were delightful, with beautiful presentations. Sorbets and pâtés were common across the courses. Thank you for a great dining experience!

Food with the quality of Blancs & the imagination of Blumenthal combining for a truly memorable tasting menu. We could not have had a nicer evening, service personable & down to earth while remaining highly professional. Katie went over & above every step of the way, & it was an absolute honour to step into the kitchen & meet Liam who made time for us after a long shift. Can’t wait to go back. Don’t hesitate - book in.

Over the moon with my birthday meal here. From the moment you and your party walk in the attention is on you. The dining room is bright and airy and there’s enough space between tables to have private conversations. The food which the waiters moved with perfect synchronicity, delivering each dish to the table or removing plates was magical. Highly recommended.
Ace M — Google review
Extremely disappointing experience at 2 Michelin stars restaurant, most of the dishes were delicious however not mind blowing level, way too many unnecessary components, each course was coming with 2 or 3 different plates and dishes, didn’t create much harmony or pairing and in fact it was making it harder to focus on any of them, they all had interesting flavours with such unique combinations however at the end of the day you have no idea what you just had and won’t be able to remember the flavours in the future bc it’s mixed up way too much without any clear purpose of the dish… really good examples of ‘overrated and incorrect fine dining’ Horrendous service as well overall, the restaurant was very cold as 3 different air cons were working with full power and the wind kept hitting us directly so had to tell to the staff if they could make some changes TWICE to actually solve the problem, one of the worst wine list I’ve ever seen in Michelin starred restaurant, all of the wines are extremely overpriced… inducing people to order wine pairings instead? So I went for the cheapest pairings and it wasn’t actually too bad, except that whenever they explain the wines and how it’s meant to go well with the dish, they were struggling to describe it properly with very bad diction, almost felt like they were nervous and unsure about what they were saying, asked couple of questions regarding some foods and wines, couldn’t really get clear answers from the staffs straight away as they were just mumbling? Spent almost £1,000 for 2 people, definitely not worth the money, seriously wonder how this place deserved 2 Michelin stars for 20+ years? I’ve been to few other 2 stars restaurants and by far this place has been the worst… the restaurant was awkwardly quiet so some background music would be great as when we first walked in there’s almost no one in the dining room so it felt super creepy, it’s just small details that they need to look for in order to make customers feel more comfortable and relaxed, definitely need a lot more training on staffs especially on knowledge parts so they could speak up a bit and explain things in a much better and clear way, keep the foods bit simple as well because all those hundreds of components won’t make the dish any better and rather ruin the flavour as it creates zero harmony and chemistry in between Also seems like they pay people to write a good review or make fake accounts to do that which is such a shame to the restaurant for their fame and reputation….

Quite an experience, exceptional service and the most amazing food - even a picky eater could find only one item to leave at side of plate. Not at all cheap, who knew ,but a great way to spend an afternoon.

Our anniversary lunch at Midsummer House in Cambridge was an absolute treat from start to finish. Welcomed with champagne and perfect, meaty olives in the courtyard – a special touch. The food journey was exceptional: the savoury-sweet apple sable, a delicate sardine terrine, and a superb duck liver flapjack (creamy duck, raspberry sweetness, chocolate, crunch!) were early highlights. The Bloody Mary, served like a gazpacho with a cucumber sorbet surprise, was incredibly refreshing. The cuttlefish with hazelnut and ginger jelly on cauliflower bavarois was light and fresh. The smoked butternut squash sorbet with rich pork consommé offered fantastic temperature and flavour contrasts – truly a masterclass. The duck main was a delightful blend of rich and gamey, perfectly balanced by melon puree and smokey vinegar. Even a slight doughiness in the bao buns couldn't overshadow the brilliant brik pastry duck wing portion. The Jack Daniels cafe pousse was an "OMG WOW!" moment – still unsure what was in it, but incredible! Dessert was a fantastic coconut and lime creation in a chocolate bowl, with lovely sour-sweet contrasts and a hint of chilli. Finishing with coffee and exquisite petit fours (apple pie-like beignettes and an astonishing apple tart tatin) in the courtyard was pure bliss. A huge highlight was Head Chef Liam's kitchen tour, detailing each section and relating it to our menu. Service throughout was spot on, attentive, polite, and interactive. Every dish was a thoughtful experience. Truly brilliant!

Haggle is a modern gastropub that offers a fusion of Turkish cuisine with a variety of small plates, flatbreads, and BBQ dishes. The restaurant features a large wood-fired oven and an inviting bar area. It is known for its delectable kebabs, sourced from local suppliers and roasted over fire before being served on flatbread with tahini. Additionally, the menu includes prosecco with rose water for those seeking a unique beverage option.
Came here for my Birthday with my partner and we were blown away. First the decor was stunning and interesting, the tiling and the proper oven caught my eye when I walked in. Then a water fountain attached to the wall which was actually a beer tap! We were served by Ben who was the most accommodating to my dietary requirements and happily answered any questions I had. The chefs also managed to make my favourite Turkish liver dish to order so I could enjoy it without gluten. It’s the little things! Cocktails were great too, my partner is particular about his old fashioned’s and he loved it. The atmosphere was warm, friendly and I have the say the music was on point. We can’t wait to visit again and already telling all our friends from Cambridge about it. We’ll see you guys soon!

Recommended by a friend we had lunch to celebrate a birthday. First impressions were very good, both staff greeting and the look and feel of the restaurant. Ben, our waiter, recommended a fabulous selection of dishes. All were very tasty, the duck bonbons and BBQ lamb, Kuzu, were highlights. Highly recommended. We will return.

I’ve been here many times, and I finally decided it’s time to leave a review. The food is consistently amazing; every visit I leave full and satisfied. The portions are generous, the atmosphere is welcoming, and everything is always delicious. The staff are friendly and helpful, which makes the whole experience even better. Highly recommend!

I came to this Turkish restaurant with my family as a 4 person and we bought 4 main, 5 meze, 3 double Turkish Rakı, 1 Efes beer and 2 desert. Foods was so good and most of them can take 10/10 from us. Priceses are high but the portions are big and the meat is delicious.

There were seven of us round an upstairs table which was great. Really lively atmosphere made for a wonderful birthday celebration. Service was friendly without being pushy and the food really good. Would definitely come back.

I have been meaning to visit here for a long time, we had friends in town and although we hadn't booked they got us a table for 4, albeit next to the door. The service was excellent, and orders were taken with ease. The food was even better than I had hoped for, starter and main was just perfect and a special mention to the young lady that served us Ellie, she was attentive, professional and very polite. First class, we'll be back!!

So impressed with Haggle! The food was top quality and the team were so lovely. Drinks were very good too. The decor is gorgeous. It was one of the floor team’s first day, she was so lovely and an asset to the team! Will definitely return

A lovely traditional restaurant serving a huge range of ethnic dishes x we shared several light bite dishes which were nice but the descriptions didn't always seem accurate . Prices were what you'd expect in a busy city centre like Norwich. For myself I would prefer a little more space as tables are quite cramped and it was difficult to hold conversations. Staff were lovely and attentive and we all enjoyed our visit

The Gunton Arms

Gastropub
Nestled within an enchanting 18th-century deer park, The Gunton Arms offers a luxurious retreat that beautifully marries British dining with rustic charm. Just a short drive from the picturesque coastline of Cromer, this former hunting lodge boasts refined accommodations and complimentary breakfast for guests. As you wander through its expansive grounds, be prepared for the delightful sounds of nature—especially during mating season when the local deer make their presence known.
You park in a very large car park and enter the grounds of Gunton House via a steel gate. About 100m ahead is the Gunton Arms. As we approached the pub we could see a herd of deer, some with large set of antlers. Not your everyday pub this. Warm greeting and taken through to our table. This is a dog friendly place and we had taken our cocker spaniel with us to enjoy our anniversary meal. The food was very tasty. We were in a back area where there is less light. At times it was a little dark for us, we are in our late 60s, the table candle not quite bright enough. Very romantic as it was. We had said it was our anniversary and they left a card for us wishing us all the best for our happy event. They even placed a chocolate message on our dessert which was so sweet of them. My wife had already taken some of the letters off without realizing it was a message. 😂. This chocolate torte with superb cherries was unbelievable. Highly recommended on all counts, venue, service and food.

The Gunton Arms is a truly unique and unforgettable destination. From the moment you arrive, you’re transported to a world of exceptional food, stunning art, and incredible atmosphere. The setting in the middle of a sprawling deer park is simply magical. Beyond the fantastic food, the pub itself is a work of art, with a roaring fire, quirky decor, and a collection of stunning pieces on the walls. The service is always friendly and welcoming. It's the perfect place for a special occasion or a cozy country escape.

What an incredible evening meal and nights stay followed by breakfast the next. A HUGE portion of very high quality steak for dinner after a drink in the garden (a whole deer park) beforehand. Food aside, the service was brilliant, mixing the feel and friendliness of a local pub tied into a well functioning restaurant.
Nick G — Google review
A uniquely styled location! Menus ( bar food and dining room) are excellent if a little expensive( but great quality) with much choice and local suppliers. However gluten- free choices are not marked up, making it difficult to know with asking if coeliacs can have a good meal too.

We had a disabled person with us the access to the Venue was very difficult poor lightning in the car park and the pathway from the car park to the venue was uneven and not lit. The paving stones at the entrance were uneven. On arrival no one came to meet us and we had to look for someone in the restaurant. They then pointed us to the Table and left us to try and negotiate through the seated restaurant with a disabled guest. We realised this was not possible and then searched for an alternative route. Which we found this made our guest very embarrassed self conscious and uncomfortable. The waiter took our order and told us about the dishes on the menu and we decided to take his recommdation of the Rib eye steak looked and tasted amazing however the Goose fat roast potatoes served with this dish were undercooked and seemed to be deep-fried. Which very disappointing. We were then told as we were waiting for desserts that the coffee was being switched off so if we wanted coffee we had to order them now. So we were made to feel rushed. Therefore all in all not a good experience

We didn’t stay at the hotel, just went for food. Incredible setting …not that easy to find! You have to go through the gates into the park - loads of deer running free. It was a Sunday night - restaurant fully booked ( and we had our dog) so had some bar snacks. Very friendly bar staff, nice bar, lots of character. Pool table. Food was good. Thank you

An amazing pub. We had a superb meal here. We were fortunate enough to be accommodated as it was fairly last minute booking. You must book in advance as it was packed.
Andy D — Google review
The Gunton Arms is set just within Gunton estate. There are deer roaming nearby on the estate. The pub itself is extensive inside and hosts an open fire where various meats are cooked. There is also plenty of seafood on the menu and a dedicated vegan/vegetarian menu if you request. There is also an extensive wine menu. Service was great and of course so was the food. All in all, very happy.

Nestled in a charming, rustic setting, The Unruly Pig is a delightful gastropub that has been captivating diners since its establishment in 2015. This stylish eatery prides itself on crafting a modern menu that highlights seasonal and locally sourced ingredients with an innovative twist. Known for its unique 'Britalian' cuisine, guests can indulge in dishes like arancini or the intriguing lavender and honey custard tart, alongside fresh seafood options.
The tasting menu was simply out of this world! Each dish tasted amazing and looked beautiful. We literally licked the plates clean as the sauces were so tasty too. It’s a shame that we live 3.5 hours away by car. Otherwise we would go every week! Thanks so much for the great service too!

Had the £79 tasting menu & Oysters and drinks. Positives: Staff are lovely and attentive, and full explanations of each dish. Great selection of dishes, plus the oysters to start which were superb (extra cost). Both the deep fried and pickled Oyster were my favourites. The dishes of the day for me were: sublime Bass with shellfish sauce, and the Wagyu beef, with a cleansing pea puree, lovely little stuffed morel mushroom, and a beautiful little pot of ox cheek under mash. The presentation and composition of dishes was great. Deserts were gorgeous, and really appreciated the Happy Birthday on Mum’s desert. Good selection of wines, and for the drivers zero alcohol options. Overall a good experience. Negatives: unfortunately there was a prevalence to over season the food (ie a little too heavy with the salt - and I do eat salt. My Mum who doesn’t eat salt much found some dishes way too much). We did mention toward end when asked. I get that overt ‘seasoning’ is a cheffy/ resto thing, but I’d suggest chef on the day needed someone else to taste the food whilst in preparation. No salt & pepper available on the table which is fine, as long as the balance in dishes works. IMHO some dishes don’t really work, ie. The Orkney Scallop dish: the beautiful scallop is drowned out with other strong taste flavour elements; anchovy, caper, chorizo, nduja (and again all quite high in the salt spectrum). For a resto having won so many awards, and the overall bill at circa £300 for 2 people, I’ve come away a bit disappointed with the overall result, which is a shame, as many elements are superb, let down at the seasoning hurdle. 7/10 for food - would have been a 10 if the balance had been better. Overall google score higher, based on overall experience.

The Unruly Pig could not have more buzz right now - the No. 1 Gastropub in the Country, quickly followed by a glowing Grace Dent review. So when visiting Suffolk for a weekend, we had to give it a go. It lived up to the hype. The food was absolutely fantastic - elevated without losing its roots as brilliant pub food. Started with olives, arancini and a wild garlic veloute (I know, not many pubs doing this stuff, but bear with me for the main). All were superb, but the arancini is genuinely unmissable. But it was the main event - a T Bone to share accompanied by nduja mac and cheese and a Caesar salad - that blew us away. Steak cooked to perfection and a properly dramatic dish for a pub lunch. The mac and cheese, however, somehow pipped it to the dish of the day. Absolutely sensational. Parmesan chips did arrive cold, but the team could not have been more swift in sorting us out with a piping hot replacement (and a few extra chips for good measure). And then the chocolate and peanut butter tart with caramelised banana ice cream was top drawer. Only very small quibble - this is a very dog friendly pub, but we ended up on a table that made it difficult to keep ours out of the way of front of house traffic. I appreciate how tricky dog owners in pubs can be and I can't fault the lengths the team go to in order to make you feel welcome (bowl of water and plate of biscuits on arrival!), but if you do have a dog who struggles to settle I'd suggest being specific in the type of table you'll need.

Cannot fault our evening here! We booked the same afternoon and secured what seemed to be the last reservation. As soon as we walked through the door the staff were amazing, attentive and friendly. We actually rocked up nearly 2 hours before our reservation to have drinks at the bar which had a great wine menu. We then preferred the bar area to sit and eat in over the restaurant and it was no bother at all - they even sat us down earlier than our reservation which was welcomed after a few glasses! We both had the tasting menu. One normal, one vegetarian and both were amazing. Fresh, well seasoned, beautifully presented and delicious. The happy birthday card and plate were especially welcomed and a really lovely touch for my friend - thank you! If you’re in the area I highly recommend for dinner!

We had the pleasure of dining on Saturday evening and were thoroughly impressed with the entire experience. Dylan, our waiter, provided exceptional service—he was attentive, kind, and genuinely helpful throughout the evening. The food was absolutely perfect, both quality and presentation. It was a truly delightful dinner. We would highly recommend this establishment without hesitation—10/10. It’s no surprise this is regarded as the number one gastropub in the UK. A.W.S

We enjoyed a fabulous meal here at the weekend. At £49 for 6 courses it was great value. The standout dish for me was the courgette salad which was beautifully fresh and light. Loved also the pork Milanese risotto and the panacotta was heavenly. Also loved the arancini and cod roe appetisers. At a time when really mediocre places are Charging £20+ for main courses this is fabulous value. Loved it 👍🏽

Generally really good but sadly lacking in consistency. Calling the restaurant during the day of the reservation to enquire about outdoor seating was unfortunately problematic. The owner / manager (assumed as it’s his voice on the pre-recorded phone message) struggled to communicate effectively & hung up the call rather abruptly. The drinks service fell a bit flat almost immediately with the cocktails being, in my opinion, a tad weak. The wine also took too long to arrive after ordering & the need to remind staff was tedious. The meal itself was very good generally, with points for presentation, creativity & quality of ingredients. The steak, however, came with no appropriate cutlery and was overly rare in both cases; (T-bones, £90 to share) which just shouldn’t happen in a gastro-pub lauded to be at the top of its game charging top-tier prices. The staff rectified quickly & humbly which was sweet & appreciated but unfortunately the moment was lost. Overall I think it’s an enthusiastic offering for its location but at that price point I won’t be returning with any vigour.

Seafood restaurant
Regatta Restaurant is a well-established venue in Aldeburgh, known for its focus on local seafood and seaside-chic decor. The restaurant features its own smokehouse, adding a unique touch to the dining experience. It is a favorite among visitors and locals alike, offering a seafood and grill menu at the Brudenell Hotel.
The specials menu tonight had some real treats for us. We started with the pea, artichoke and basil arancini then moved onto the Seared Tuna and the pesto crusted halibut. Both dishes were sublime. The fish was cooked to perfection and the accompaniments were perfect for each dish. The Asian dressing for the red onion and carrot salad was sublime, subtle and elegant! We finished with the pear tart tartin and butterscotch ice cream. Yum! Good choice of wine and beer by the glass. The Regatta Pale Ale was great. Staff were great and the restaurant has great atmosphere. A wee bit cool with the air con (light jumper taken). Thanks Oliver for a great evening.. Highly recommend.

I came to Aldeburgh specifically for a good fish dinner and found it here, simply but perfectly cooked, buttery samphire and mussel sauce, new potatoes. Perfect. Free WiFi Friendly and efficient service.

I had lunch with my family here today and it was so excellent that I felt compelled to write this review! Every single dish that came to the table was exceptionally delicious. The fish and chips might actually be the best battered fish I’ve ever had (!!!) and the tempura prawns and gravadlax that my Son and I shared for starters were perfectly done. The pear tart and ice cream we had for afters was absolutely divine… and also vegan (I can’t eat dairy and usually struggle to find a dessert offering that isn’t mango or raspberry sorbet). My parents come here weekly and I honestly can’t believe I’ve never eaten here before, but I am already looking forward to returning!! I would highly recommend!!

We phoned to book at lunchtime for the same evening. When we arrived at 6pm, despite the restaurant being empty, we were seated at the worst of the 20 or so tables, right by the kitchen door. Maybe the other tables were booked for later but there would have been time for us to eat at another table and leave. The food was mediocre, the best course being the lovely summer pudding. I had a chicken dish which was similar to what you'd get in a takeaway. My husband's was slightly better - a cod dish from the specials menu.

We had dinner here last night. It was really good. 3 adults and 2 kids. Great food. All were very well catered for. Not cheap but I felt it was reasonably priced. Decent wine for £25/30. Highly recommend this place.

We had an amazing meal here while staying in Aldeburgh for a long weekend. The menu was extensive and everything we chose was exceptional, perfectly cooked and so tasty. Staff were attentive and friendly. A reasonably priced evening of high quality food and some good wines. We highly recommend a visit, we will be back.

Wandering around Aldeburgh at night and by chance walking into the most convivial eatery with welcoming staff and had the most wonderful local Fisher's gin with samphire to start with and followed by exquisitely fresh seafood marvellously cooked. Had to repeat the experience the following night and the slow cooked should er of lamb shoulder with aubergine and couscous was a world class knock-out. Highly recommended. Fair prices too.

London Stansted Airport

International airport
Airport
London Stansted Airport is a hub for low-cost European flights and offers convenient access to the M11 express train. While it may be crowded during peak season, the airport provides clear instructions and directions for passengers. The seating options are limited, but there are shops, currency exchange services, and water stations available after passport control. Staff members are generally friendly and helpful, making arrivals a pleasant experience. However, long layovers may be challenging due to the condition of some departure gate seats.
Today was a good day…all smooth and fast. Though it was fairly early for the 6:45 flight, from stepping in all was great. No queuing or waiting time at all. Flying to Germany and the plane is kinda ready to take off at 6:20am. Positive experience.
Csorba D — Google review
I flew from London Stansted Airport and overall had a great experience. The airport is very organized, clean, and easy to navigate. Security control was super quick – even with the crowds, I passed through in under 10 minutes! There are lots of shops, restaurants, and places to grab snacks or souvenirs, which made waiting much more enjoyable. However, it can get very crowded, especially around check-in and boarding time. My flight was delayed, which is why I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5, and I also noticed that some gates are very far away – it took me almost 10 minutes to walk to mine! So make sure to check your gate early and be ready to move quickly. Overall, a very good airport for both short and long flights, just a bit busy – but well managed!

I was really impressed with London Stansted Airport on my recent trip. Everything ran super smoothly from start to finish — check-in was quick, security moved fast, and the staff were genuinely friendly and helpful. The airport itself is bright, clean, and easy to find your way around, which makes a huge difference when you’re traveling. There’s a good mix of shops and restaurants too — plenty of options to grab a coffee or something to eat while waiting for your flight. Getting to and from the airport was straightforward as well, with clear signs and good transport links. Overall, it was a really stress-free experience and definitely one of the better airports I’ve flown through. I wouldn’t hesitate to fly from Stansted again!

The cheapest way to get to Stansted is to take the national express coach. The Stansted express train is quite expensive compared to the couch service. Stansted airport is pretty much the Homebase of Ryanair. The airport is pretty basic. There aren’t many seats for passengers to relax. I would recommend the Wetherspoon there. It is not expensive. There is not much children facilities, no soft play or any area for young children. However there is a Hemleys toy shop. Some gates will need shuttle train, kids love that. The security check service is good. Passengers don’t need to take out the electronic devices and liquids out. There are some water fountains after security checks. Bring your own bottle and save few pounds on bottled water.

A very busy airport Monday noon. 20 mins to get through security. Although they do have the scanners. Lots of bars, shops, restaurants and cafes. Even a spoons!! Lots of parking Easy to navigate
Russell H — Google review
Fast, smooth and reasonably nice. We quickly moved through security(saving time by not needing baggage drop off as we bought an overhead bag) and through to the shops. A wide range of provisions. Lots of seats and lots of people. I traveled on a thursday and although at first there was limited seats, spaces quickly appeared as people left for their gates. Our flight was delayed so we spent a lot of time here. It was made easier by the comfortable seats, free WiFi and USB charging ports so I plugged in and watched some plane crash documentaries. I had Burger King but there’s many other option too. There are limited toilets that are poorly signposted. There is one just off the main area with all the seats(water fountain there too). It was also incredibly hot with poor ventilation, especially outside the gates. Nice airport seemingly focusing on budget airlines. Edit: Just as quick on the return. The E-gates allowed us to get through in two minutes.
R. G — Google review
I recently travelled from Stansted Airport and had a smooth experience from start to finish. I took the Stansted Express train from Tottenham Hale Station, which was fast, comfortable, and arrived right at the airport — very convenient! The check-in process was quick and well-organised, with clear signs everywhere to guide passengers. The staff were friendly and helpful, especially at security, where everything moved efficiently. There are plenty of shops, cafés, and seating areas, making the wait before the flight pleasant. Overall, a great airport for easy and stress-free travel! ✈️

Last time they had a coffee machine fire, but caused such a mess with following the incorrect protocol, that 3000 people delayed or canceled their plans! Had to sleep in the car like a dog as no one toqld is Ryanair will fly us on the next day..... Wrote email to both companies, £200 and a day later I've made it to Rhodes, holiday ruined, no compensation, plans destroyed and yet they still closing the Airport overnight and people sleeping rough everywhere, purely because they don't want to pay night shifts rates and got cartels negotiation with the flying operators. Avoid on any price, as on the End you will pay more than flying Business class with Emirates, but receive dogs treatment from the stuff and wording like "You should of pay for a hotel Sir" Absolute Clowns 🤡
