Gastropub
Bar
British restaurant
Nestled in a charming, rustic setting, The Unruly Pig is a delightful gastropub that has been captivating diners since its establishment in 2015. This stylish eatery prides itself on crafting a modern menu that highlights seasonal and locally sourced ingredients with an innovative twist. Known for its unique 'Britalian' cuisine, guests can indulge in dishes like arancini or the intriguing lavender and honey custard tart, alongside fresh seafood options.
The tasting menu was simply out of this world! Each dish tasted amazing and looked beautiful. We literally licked the plates clean as the sauces were so tasty too. It’s a shame that we live 3.5 hours away by car. Otherwise we would go every week! Thanks so much for the great service too!

Had the £79 tasting menu & Oysters and drinks. Positives: Staff are lovely and attentive, and full explanations of each dish. Great selection of dishes, plus the oysters to start which were superb (extra cost). Both the deep fried and pickled Oyster were my favourites. The dishes of the day for me were: sublime Bass with shellfish sauce, and the Wagyu beef, with a cleansing pea puree, lovely little stuffed morel mushroom, and a beautiful little pot of ox cheek under mash. The presentation and composition of dishes was great. Deserts were gorgeous, and really appreciated the Happy Birthday on Mum’s desert. Good selection of wines, and for the drivers zero alcohol options. Overall a good experience. Negatives: unfortunately there was a prevalence to over season the food (ie a little too heavy with the salt - and I do eat salt. My Mum who doesn’t eat salt much found some dishes way too much). We did mention toward end when asked. I get that overt ‘seasoning’ is a cheffy/ resto thing, but I’d suggest chef on the day needed someone else to taste the food whilst in preparation. No salt & pepper available on the table which is fine, as long as the balance in dishes works. IMHO some dishes don’t really work, ie. The Orkney Scallop dish: the beautiful scallop is drowned out with other strong taste flavour elements; anchovy, caper, chorizo, nduja (and again all quite high in the salt spectrum). For a resto having won so many awards, and the overall bill at circa £300 for 2 people, I’ve come away a bit disappointed with the overall result, which is a shame, as many elements are superb, let down at the seasoning hurdle. 7/10 for food - would have been a 10 if the balance had been better. Overall google score higher, based on overall experience.

The Unruly Pig could not have more buzz right now - the No. 1 Gastropub in the Country, quickly followed by a glowing Grace Dent review. So when visiting Suffolk for a weekend, we had to give it a go. It lived up to the hype. The food was absolutely fantastic - elevated without losing its roots as brilliant pub food. Started with olives, arancini and a wild garlic veloute (I know, not many pubs doing this stuff, but bear with me for the main). All were superb, but the arancini is genuinely unmissable. But it was the main event - a T Bone to share accompanied by nduja mac and cheese and a Caesar salad - that blew us away. Steak cooked to perfection and a properly dramatic dish for a pub lunch. The mac and cheese, however, somehow pipped it to the dish of the day. Absolutely sensational. Parmesan chips did arrive cold, but the team could not have been more swift in sorting us out with a piping hot replacement (and a few extra chips for good measure). And then the chocolate and peanut butter tart with caramelised banana ice cream was top drawer. Only very small quibble - this is a very dog friendly pub, but we ended up on a table that made it difficult to keep ours out of the way of front of house traffic. I appreciate how tricky dog owners in pubs can be and I can't fault the lengths the team go to in order to make you feel welcome (bowl of water and plate of biscuits on arrival!), but if you do have a dog who struggles to settle I'd suggest being specific in the type of table you'll need.

Cannot fault our evening here! We booked the same afternoon and secured what seemed to be the last reservation. As soon as we walked through the door the staff were amazing, attentive and friendly. We actually rocked up nearly 2 hours before our reservation to have drinks at the bar which had a great wine menu. We then preferred the bar area to sit and eat in over the restaurant and it was no bother at all - they even sat us down earlier than our reservation which was welcomed after a few glasses! We both had the tasting menu. One normal, one vegetarian and both were amazing. Fresh, well seasoned, beautifully presented and delicious. The happy birthday card and plate were especially welcomed and a really lovely touch for my friend - thank you! If you’re in the area I highly recommend for dinner!

We had the pleasure of dining on Saturday evening and were thoroughly impressed with the entire experience. Dylan, our waiter, provided exceptional service—he was attentive, kind, and genuinely helpful throughout the evening. The food was absolutely perfect, both quality and presentation. It was a truly delightful dinner. We would highly recommend this establishment without hesitation—10/10. It’s no surprise this is regarded as the number one gastropub in the UK. A.W.S

We enjoyed a fabulous meal here at the weekend. At £49 for 6 courses it was great value. The standout dish for me was the courgette salad which was beautifully fresh and light. Loved also the pork Milanese risotto and the panacotta was heavenly. Also loved the arancini and cod roe appetisers. At a time when really mediocre places are Charging £20+ for main courses this is fabulous value. Loved it 👍🏽

Generally really good but sadly lacking in consistency. Calling the restaurant during the day of the reservation to enquire about outdoor seating was unfortunately problematic. The owner / manager (assumed as it’s his voice on the pre-recorded phone message) struggled to communicate effectively & hung up the call rather abruptly. The drinks service fell a bit flat almost immediately with the cocktails being, in my opinion, a tad weak. The wine also took too long to arrive after ordering & the need to remind staff was tedious. The meal itself was very good generally, with points for presentation, creativity & quality of ingredients. The steak, however, came with no appropriate cutlery and was overly rare in both cases; (T-bones, £90 to share) which just shouldn’t happen in a gastro-pub lauded to be at the top of its game charging top-tier prices. The staff rectified quickly & humbly which was sweet & appreciated but unfortunately the moment was lost. Overall I think it’s an enthusiastic offering for its location but at that price point I won’t be returning with any vigour.

We came for the Sunday social menu, it was excellent value for money. The cocktails were fantastic, faultless service and wonderful wonderful food! One of our top meals ever.

Nestled at the head of the picturesque River Deben, The Wilford Bridge is a charming country pub that welcomes both families and furry friends. Located near Woodbridge, this delightful spot offers an inviting atmosphere perfect for a leisurely lunch after exploring the scenic surroundings or taking a stroll along the riverbank. Known for its mouthwatering Sunday roasts, The Wilford Bridge also boasts an impressive menu featuring fresh seafood options like monkfish and salmon kebabs.
Popped in on the off chance after a visit to nearby Sutton Hoo and was so pleased we did. The suet pudding was truly delicious, one of the best I have had and my partner loved the fish and chips and simply stated "We are coming back here again!". I won't argue with that. Great food, reasonably priced, comfortable and welcoming atmosphere, friendly staff, ample parking, outdoor seating if the weather is warm. What more could you want after a lot of walking and a belly or two to fill? 10/10

Super meal out. Vegetarian nut roast was delicious, Roast beef was succulent and the crumble for dessert was fab. Service was attentive, beer was cold and crisp and Rachel behind the bar was super friendly really welcoming

A range of starters to share amongst three of us. Blown away by the quality and quantity of the steak pudding with horseradish mash, excellent. Small roast turkey turned out to be not so small, but was delicious. Very busy but plenty of staff and quick service. Will come again for the steak pudding.

Took my friends for her birthday meal, and wow what a fantastic meal everything was cooked to perfection, piping hot, lovely fresh vegetables, will definitely go again, and recommend the staff was so attentive, And the desert was yummy,

We had a meal here last Thursday and I felt had to share how wonderful it was. Excellent service as always such a warm and welcoming atmosphere, our waiter was Harley, but all the staff are great, the menu was full of choice including a specials menu but I had the suet pudding, which is usually on the menu but was more delicious than I remembered from before, A very dog friendly pub too.

A little gem hidden amongst all the other pub restaurants that close their kitchens at 3pm. After a long walk on Shingle Street and missing lunch, we were starving. Hunting on Google maps, most of the pubs were either shut on a Sunday, or their kitchen no longer open. As we pulled up to The Wilford Bridge, it looked fairly busy and very welcoming. We easily got a table, just missing the sudden influx of diners about half an hour later. The food was good, standard pub restaurant fare. Our server was great, and on hand for our orders and questions even when it was clear he had a large area to look after. I can see why it was busy, decent food, lovely staff, and a family feel to the atmosphere.

Absolutely delicious food served by great staff. The focaccia which we shared had immense flavour and was as good as that which you would eat in Italy. Tandoori chicken with flatbreads was brimming with strong authentic spices & it was a very generous portion. My partner's cod was also a hit and we were delighted with a thoroughly tasty dinner in a cosy setting.

The Gin Trap Inn is a charming 17th-century coaching inn located in the heart of Ringstead, near the scenic North Norfolk coast. The inn offers a cosy bar with a log fire and a walled garden for sunny days. It prides itself on serving over 100 types of gin and features creative new dishes on its menu each week.
Went for lunch on a sunny spring day, and enjoyed the outdoor dining area at the back of the pub. Good strong tables and benches to tie up the dogs. Attractive interior with lots of period features, plenty of helpful front of house team members The menu has all that could be wanted in the way of pub food. The home made house burger had two patties, a great relish and decent cheese. Excellent fries too. The double baked souffle was delicious and generous. Also recommended is the chocolate mousse and tangerine sorbet. Parking can be a bit of a challenge.

We stayed here as a couple plus dog over a Friday and Saturday night in August. We booked the Stables, which was a split level room with downstairs lounge and upstairs bedroom and bathroom. It was an excellent experience all round - room was spacious and comfortable and particularly liked the in-room slipper bath. There was a great cooked breakfast with plenty of different options and dinner was very good too, although maybe the choice of mains could be a bit more adventurous. Setting is in a very pleasant and quiet village, Ringstead, which includes an Aladdins Cave like village shop, and has lots of huge beaches and pleasant towns and villages within easy reach. We really enjoyed our time at Gin Trap Inn and will return next time we are in the area. Highly recommended.

The Gin Trap has changed hands in recent times and do we decided to pop in. We only had a drink on this occasion and sat in the bar area. Service was good. The bar area (whilst quite traditional) is rather dark and the newer conservatory area much lighter and brighter. We took a look at the menu for future visits. Good Menu. Decent prices.

We’ve visited the Gin Trap on numerous occasions and dropped in on them again on our tour of Norfolk on our bikes. The changes made by the Chestnut group have been positive. Food was never served on Mondays and Tuesdays and it now is. The staff are excellent and hugely helpful. A great menu and you won’t beat the breakfast, black pudding to die for. Whilst these guys keep doing what they’re doing, they’ll continue to have us as customers. All the place needs to be perfect for the cyclist is a specific safe storage area. TBF they do try and help with this but now and again when they’ve a few cyclists in the space can be lacking a little. Still great though, 9.5/10

Without a doubt one of the best lunches we had on our Norfolk Coastal holiday - the food was AMAZING! We opted for the daily pie, this came with mash and cabbage, presented beautifully! Our young puppy was made to feel really welcome and was spoilt by all the staff - they made such a fuss of him. We tried their local gin, including their own, and they were fabulous. Highly recommend, and if we had stayed longer we would have gone back for dinner.

Just returned from a short overnight stay for our anniversary. We had a wonderful stay. Friendly and welcoming staff and both the evening meal and breakfast were delicious. The heritage tomato and goats cheese salad was a particular highlight for me. So fresh and tasty with perfect focaccia! The room was beautifully designed with a very comfortable bed and so many thoughtful touches. Homemade cookies, complimentary g&t. Ringstead is a lovely peaceful place and the outer areas of the pub were great. Lots of choice for relaxation. I really was very sad to leave. Highly recommend for a great night away.

Went for a meal with friends as had previously enjoyed a meal a few years ago. What a disappointment is an understatement . It has turned into an overpriced restaurant. I ordered a steak medium rare. Came out mainly grey with a slight amount of pink and was very chewy. Not happy at all as was told what a good chef they had. Sorry but he doesn’t understand how to cook steak
Joanne D — Google review
What a missed opportunity. Fantastic building, but a poor service from the first interaction to our last. No real welcome as the bar staff as he was making coffee. When we was seated we had to wait 45 minutes for our order to be taken, only to be disappointed by the food being delivered. The pork was stunning with a great peace of crackling, but the roast potatoes were reheated and not very warm, as for the Yorkshire pudding being delivered separately in a cold cast iron bowl served on a table spoon of cold lumpy potato ….. I really don’t understand as the Yorkshire pudding was lovely. The tea spoon of an orange and beige paste did nothing for the dish. Everything on the plate was unfortunately lukewarm. We could have mentioned it to the server but we had little to no interaction with any of the servers. We did ask to see the dessert menu for it not to appear so we decided to leave. This was a real shame as it could have been so much better with very little effort. We hate to complain at the table as other guests was around and didn’t want to make a scene and we wasn’t looking for a discount but it really wasn’t worth the £75.00.

Pub
The Ferry Boat Inn, a 15th-century pub located in the charming hamlet of Felixstowe Ferry, offers a delightful dining experience amidst its historical ambiance. The menu features an array of local seafood and meat dishes, with options like fresh grilled cod, haddock with lemon and butter, steak, and vegetarian choices such as the three bean casserole. While the gluten-free menu is more limited, it still provides a good selection of starters, mains, and desserts.
Came here with my parents, and had an absolutely delightful time. The food was delicious; Dad and I had the sea bass, and Mum had the haddock and chips. As for the desserts? The Eton Mess desserts were divine (just wish there was more, but I am a greedy wotsit!) I cannot fault the service, nor would I want to. Friendly and professional are the best words I can to use to describe them. Unfortunately, I'm not in Felixstowe very often, otherwise i would become a regular. But I will return!

Under new management and better for it. We were warmly greeted by the barman as we entered this historic, low ceiling pub. The majority of the previous features have been kept, it’s a little fresher, but certainly not an overhaul. The service was friendly, but the menu was a little unadventurous, especially for those who remember the varied board of fish dishes, which made the FBI a destination in its heyday. Despite this, the sea bass in a caper butter was tasty, and the battered haddock and chips looked good as it passed. The homemade burger hit the spot, with excellent chips. All served satisfyingly hot. In all, the refresh of the FBI is welcome. Neither the menu nor the wine list (several familiar supermarket bottles) will blow you away, but the history, kind staff, beer garden, sizeable car park, and easy access to a bracing shingle beach walk after a few pints/courses, makes it worth popping by if you’re in the area.

Food was really bad. I had mussels to start, they were cooked fine, nothing in the sauce just seemed to be cream. No seasoning or shallots. Partner ordered battered fish, the batter was over cooked on the outside and raw on the inside, the did take it back to do it again, it didn’t come out much better but he was so hungry by that point he just the fish. My main was terrible, prawn pasta, I was told the sauce was “just butter” charging £18 for a few prawns cooked in nothing but butter…. Not even salt and pepper on, the waiter then came out and asked me what I would like the chef to do, so I listed off some very basic herbs and spices that could be added to prawns…. It was so bad, and bland! The kids breaded fish bites were over cooked, but daughter who is not fussy, refused to eat it! The kids Mac and cheese was the only meal that was ok! They knocked off the cost of my main meal but we still ended up paying £80 for really bad quality food. My kids had all finished by the time they brought the fish out for my partner so the whole meal was a horrible experience. Waste of money! Hopefully they get a new chef!

Brilliant first visit since reopening. Lovely staff, delicious food and priced fairly. The lady who welcomed us was friendly and helpful. Special mention for one of the bar staff/waiters, a young lad whose name we unfortunately didn’t get. He was very efficient and very pleasant. The food was fresh and presented well. We will be back.

Ordered a ploughman’s, haddock and chips and mussels with white wine sauce and cheesy chips. Waited an hour after the landlady said they cook everything fresh and do not use microwaves! After an hour my partner went in and politely asked where the food was and we were told the kitchen got the ticket and filed it as a completed order despite not even making it! My partner said we need to leave and they said they will do it now and walked off! She had to ask if they could do us a complimentary round as they forgot about us which eventually they did! The haddock and chips looked nice but the bread with ploughman’s and mussels was so stale and the white wine sauce tasted of nothing! No garlic, wine, not shallots or onions or herbs or seasoning it was like a thin milk sauce! I had 4 mussels and politely said all that waiting and I couldn’t even eat what they gave me! Who serves stale bread and tasteless white wine sauce it just is crazy! The waitress came out collected the plates and even after I clearly hadn’t eaten it and said why she just said nothing and left us! Not even a discussion just ignored me like it didn’t matter! Won’t be going back spent nearly £100 in there and then stopped at Tesco for a wrap because I was starving!

We popped in for a light lunch (sandwiches) which arrived in reasonable time. However, service for full meals was very slow and customers were complaining. Extensive, probably too extensive, menu. The food we saw looked good and generous portions.

were really looking forward to that pint after our walk from Felixstowe and were not disappointed. food was a bit of a disappointment, a few Calamari rings and sorry, but they did not look or taste home made and quite pricy for the size portion. but location, atmosphere and nice service made up for it and we would absolutely visit again. Hope you take this as suggestive criticism and not as a negative. thank you

The four of us "ate" at the Ferry Boat Inn on Monday 25th August. We placed our order at 12:40. After a long wait (expected to be 30 mins when we placed our order) two starters turned up - one correct, one wrong. After another 30 minutes, someone came out and said that there had been a mix up with our order and instead of camenbert the order taken had been for calamari. (This doesn't explain why 2 starters came out instead of 4 - it turned out they delivered the food to the wrong table too). The manager insisted that he had to process a refund the calamari, and take the order for the camembert and have us pay for that (apparently the till makes it mysteriously mandatory to refund each wrongly added meal and then charge for the correct one rather than having any sort of common sense style mechanism for just adjusting the total). This also appeared to return us to the end of the ever growing food queue (now advertised as a 45 minute wait). Finally, after another eye widening long wait the starters came out. After the starters there was, now fairly predictably yet another long wait. In the end I chased the main course, and let them know if it was much longer we would have to leave. I hate being that sort of customer, but we had now been at the pub for over two and a quarter hours. A few minutes later the manager came out and he told us that our order had been lost, and that they could make it now for us. We declined and were told (and I quote) "I will refund you for all of your meals" - which we I think understandably took to mean refunding for all the food we had ordered. Given we had wasted over two hours waiting (and also been buying drinks in that time, we felt refunding all of our food was a fair recognition of the poor experience and reflected our wasted time too) Apparently however this was not what he meant, as the refund only totalled the main courses that had never arrived. When we queried that, we were told by the same manager that it wasn't his fault, because the errors had occured in the kitchen!! So, presumably short of going into the kitchen and requesting the kitchen staff hold themselves responsible for the abject failure to deliver any food, there was little else we could do at that point. I always understood that a business delivers the experience to the customer as a whole. What a way to throw your stressed and busy kitchen staff under a bus too by the way. Shame on you. So, in summary, we spent two and a half hours having a starter at the Ferry Boat Inn, and the manager there considers compensation to mean refunding you for what they never made for you in the first place. I would argue that to not refund food that you never prepared or served would be tantamount to theft, rather than any gesture in any way to reflect a truly awful experience. Even my wife, who genuinely hates any sort of fuss, couldn't believe it and felt she wanted to speak to him about it too. It was a total shambles. I met my wife's parents in that pub, and we have been visitors there over many years. It held a special place in our history in terms of significance and we have gone there on special occasions (as today was supposed to be) due to the history we have there. Now it holds a different place, and for all the wrong reasons. It is fair to assume that we will not be going there again. Such a shame to see how far it has fallen.

Nestled along the picturesque River Deben, the Ramsholt Arms is a charming inn that perfectly captures the essence of a cozy country pub. Just five miles south of Woodbridge, this delightful spot boasts stunning views from its large terrace and panoramic windows, making it an ideal place to unwind while enjoying locally sourced seafood and seasonal dishes. The recent renovations have enhanced its inviting atmosphere with simple wooden tables that encourage guests to relax and soak in the serene surroundings.
Needed food as I was in the area for the weekend, plumped for here as it looked good on the website. Very friendly and attentive service, fantastic food (the deep fried whitebait were superb), in really nice surroundings. Bit difficult to mark atmosphere as it’s quiet season for them, as you can see from the pics, but I found it very homely and warm. Would love to return on a summers day/evening as the views will be beautiful across the river. If you’re in the area over the winter months then do please call in, you won’t be disappointed.

We had a lovely experience here! The food was delicious, and the service was excellent and very pleasant. Louise served us and went out of her way to accommodate us even though we ordered fish and chips from the lunch menu outside of the usual serving time, she kindly made it possible for us to still enjoy it. We really appreciated the warm and attentive service. Highly recommend!

Lovely location for a pub right on the river with a large patio area for when the sun is shining. The guy that served us was very nice but one chap was less than professional. That’s said, had a lovely afternoon watching the boats go by and drinking tasty mead.

Lovely place in idyllic position at the end of a narrow road down to the River Deben. Summer menu now in operation, so we had dressed crab and chilli beef salad main course. Yummy! All washed down with a glass of Aspall cider. What could be better than sitting outside on the patio, overlooking the river on a warm spring day? Don't forget to input your car registration at the bar, as you'll get 3 hours free parking then.

Didn't eat here on this occasion but will deffo come back. Had a couple of drinks including beer decent coffee. The pub offers both inside and outside seating with impressive views. Both are dog friendly. There use a generous 3 hours free parking and seemed to have a very nice clientele. Will coming back to try the food sometime soon.

Visited twice . Excellent pub and food. Lovely spot for sitting by the river watching the boats bobbing on the water. So quiet, no car noise at all. Very friendly staff, big welcome when you enter and they guide you to fill out their car registration form ( if you have driven) so you have 3 hours free parking. The food menu wasn’t extensive but it was lunchtime. The food however was incredible, well presented, tasty and the service was attentive and friendly. A regular drop in of ours when we are this way. This would have been five stars the only thing that let them down was the tables outside needed staining/ rubbing down , hopefully this will be done. If I could give 4 and 1/2 I would. Recommend a visit if you are out this way.

Lovely pub on the Deben estuary. Nice selection of beers and wines. Good menu, we had sandwiches at lunchtime and they were delicious especially the side salad. A great place to relax and watch the boats go by.

Enjoyed a lunchtime snack on a sunny day on the shore of the river Deben. Beer choices a bit limited but food tasty if a little on the expensive side. The setting is what makes this pub.

Fish and seafood restaurant
The Butley Orford Oysterage is a long-standing, unpretentious restaurant located in the village square of Orford. It has a relaxed and informal atmosphere with marble cafe tables and chalked up specials adding to its charm. The eatery is renowned for its superb quality fresh seafood, including local oysters, smoked delicacies, lobster, and fresh fish caught by the Pinney family's boat.
This place makes my best pudding in the whole world! The chocolate truffle torte is to die for. I have come here with my parents for years and as a vegetarian, it is worth noting you have to preorder food. I love the quiche - it’s always a sizeable portion and delicious. My parents enjoyed the skate wing and cod with parsley sauce. Part of the success of this place is that it is family run and hasn’t changed for years. It is very authentic, serving good quality food from local people. It is a must do during a stay in Suffolk.

One of our party had eaten here before and highly recommended it. We arrived after a three hour drive to be told our table was not ready. OK, OK maybe I am out of touch, the prices here seemed extreme. Local lobster salad was £38. The lobster was fine, not my favourite. The salad pretty standard stuff. The dressing straight out of 50 litre catering pack. At this price you'd expect more. The medium mixed grill at £19.50 contained one prawn, one mussel, two sardines (the cheapest fish in the market) and the best thing on the plate a small serving of very good fried small squid and two slices of bread. Incredible price. The dover sole, consisting of two medium (ish) fish, were nice enough cooked, but needed a crust or some browning. They were ok. The taramosalata meh. We had two puddings. The basque cheesecake was no such thing. Very disappointing. The chocolate and almond cake tasted of almond essence, a crime against cake making if you ask me. £10 for each pudding! The room is pretty basic and the school room chairs uncomfortable. I can see what this place is trying to do, but I was unexcited by it and at these prices I would expect more. Still, it was full and as you'll see from other reviews, "what do I know?"

Hands down the best bass I’ve ever had! So fresh and expertly cooked in a little garlic butter and simply served with delicious new potatoes. My partner equally loved his cod in parsley sauce and the whitebait and potted crab we shared to start were both divine! Washed down with a stunning Chablis. What a great place!!
Alexandra R — Google review
A bunch of us came here for lunch on a Saturday and it was a great experience. The restaurant is quite small with pretty basic decor, but that all adds to the rustic feel. The most important thing is the food, and that was delicious. We shared Oysters and I ordered the crab cakes for a starter and the sea bass for the main. The oysters were excellent quality and the sea bass off the bone was cooked to perfection. It was all washed down with a couple of bottles of crisp white wine that made for a most enjoyable afternoon. The bill came to £64 per person, which was reasonable considering the amount of top quality food we devoured! Absolutely superb meal here with the freshest of seafood. The oysters served from the restaurants own oysterage were especially just fantastic. The restaurant has a quaint charm about it and the service was friendly and attentive. We have a range of starters and mains including white bait, mackerel pate on toast, oysters, grilled muscles. The puddings were brilliant, too. Sticky toffee pudding (not featured in the pictures) and treacle tart

Simple food well executed. The freshest fish, beautifully cooked. We had a dozen oysters to share, a dressed crab, and a fish pie, followed by a lemon sylabub and coffee...all were understated but excellent

We had different versions of cod fillet - fish superbly cooked and presented BUT failure to offer vegetables as a side was a major failing. There was also far too much sauce on the cod and parsley sauce A little on the expensive side - particularly the wine list The service was friendly, polite and helpful The atmosphere was poor. Too crowded, too noisy

A pub hotel dating back to the 14 mtg century , very quirky with bags of character. Really warm & friendly welcome. Staff were all lovely. Room was comfortable & clean & we both slept well. The food was outstanding. We had lamb for dinner & it was the best we’ve ever eaten, breakfast was varied & hot food cooked to order.

Customer service was excellent. Could not believe that one member of the waitress staff was on duty for dinner and was also ready to greet us for breakfast next morning, with a smile! She even remembered that we did not have any allergies. We will definitely return to The Westleton Crown.

The staff could not be more charming. The vegan breakfast was delicious, freshly cooked and served perfectly. We really liked the chamomile tea which was in our room and also the fact that you serve good old fashioned filter coffee at breakfast not something out of a press- button machine! That's all you need! We love the Chestnut group and look forward to staying in some more venues. We have done two and both were top experiences.

Nestled in the charming village of Pettistree, the Greyhound Inn is a beloved pub that has earned accolades as one of the finest gastropubs in the UK for two consecutive years. Since its reopening in November 2022 under the stewardship of friends Cassidy Hughes and Will Orrock, along with head chef Harry Mckenzie, this historic establishment has quickly made a name for itself.
Great little spot! Recommend. We arrived at opening time, and the fire was freshly lit. Smoke in the air added to the classical ambience of the building. Service was extremely knowledgeable and cheerful. The food was incredible. Couldn't fault any of it. Menu changes weekly, so i can't wait to go back and see what else is being served up. Loses a point on atmosphere for facilities, but that's splitting hairs.

A charming, rustic and well considered setting makes for a wonderful experience, showcasing the best of seasonal produce treated with the care and ingenuity. On a bright Saturday lunch, the atmosphere was convivial and on the right side bustling. Service was reassured, welcoming but not overbearing. Of the food, particular highlights were the Cured Trout, Hogget chop & Custard tart with poached quince. At a time of uncertainty within the sector, rising costs and diminishing appetite, this lunch was a reassured masterclass in the best of British hospitality.

A truly lovely pub, doing excellent food (love the live fire cookery going on!). Lovely atmosphere, and the service was faultless, friendly and warm. Will definitely be visiting again next time we're in the area.

From the moment we arrived, the service at The Greyhound Inn was absolutely excellent, and that positive experience began even before we walked in the door. Booking a table was incredibly easy thanks to their user-friendly online reservation system. The staff were attentive and friendly, making us feel incredibly welcome and well-cared for throughout the entire meal. And the food? Simply outstanding. I had the Old Spot Pork Collar, Clams & Sherry, Agretti and Green Sauce, which was a magnificent combination of flavors and textures. My wife's Halstead Hogget Chops, Sweetbreads and French Peas were equally delicious. The chef also went out of their way to prepare a simple but perfect cheesy pasta for our daughter, which she loved. The drinks were a fantastic complement to our meal. I thoroughly enjoyed the Trapnell Pale Ale with my pork, and my wife was very pleased with the Wild Wave Cider. The Greyhound Inn is a true gem. The superb service and delicious, high-quality food made for an unforgettable dining experience. We can't wait to return.

Food was absolutely INCREDIBLE! The presentation was phenomenal and it tasted even better!! I put a 3 for atmosphere because the decor was 10/10 and looked so fancy but we were the only people there so made us wonder why it was completely dead.

The food and service is superb, friendly welcome and well balanced menu with a selection of four different dishes for starters, mains and desserts on the set lunch menu. The cooking is very accomplished and the set menu is very reasonably priced. We had a very pleasant Lunch and would recommend a visit to anyone.

Wow! We are regulars here and always have an amazing meal but our recent experience really blew us away... We were lucky enough to have beef wellington with a side of venison pie (think posh cottage pie.) This with a carafe of gorgeous red made us feel so very special. If you haven’t been yet, please do! Service is always great and the chefs are clearly passionate. Love the atmosphere too!
Emma J — Google review
Been here multiple times over the years but think our visit a couple of months ago will be the last. The place tends to be quiet given the rural village setting and the locals do eat early. But the food or lack of it was the problem. I know that things are difficult right now but a small bowl of soup, followed by a tiny piece of fish and ending with five matchstick size pieces of cheese is not a good way to go however good the quality of the food. For £70 pp including wine! When we left at 9.30pm on a Saturday night two other customers remained and there was not a single member of staff to be found.
Andrew G — Google review
An extraordinary meal. Featherlite scotch eggs; silky mackerel pate; fabulous chicken with jus - the list is endless. And also, bargain of the century. Three courses that together cost less than I would expect to pay for a main in London. Service friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. A must visit! And I’ll be coming back.

Our first visit to The Brewers. An up market village pub. Comfortable and spacious. Staff friendly. What's outstanding is the food. All excellent. Beautifully presented and very tasty. Portion size just right. Minor criticism was the service is slightly slow.

My partner and I visited The Brewers back in March for an anniversary. The setting was warm, cosy and inviting. As it was a special occasion we treated ourselves to the tasting menu, and it didn't disappointment! The food was well balanced, beautifully seasoned and had a great combination of flavours and textures. It was all delivered at a very reasonable pace, allowing us to savour and enjoy each course in our leisurely time. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and will be returning!!
Jessie F — Google review
I first discovered The Brewers in 2019 when I went several times alone or with my son when the rest of the family were busy with sports nearby. We started to go as a family on special occasions and the food was always excellent. Today The Brewers still has excellent food. Perhaps a sign of the times, it is more expensive and portions (certainly the starters) smaller than I remember but the quality is still high. The bar menu, having is disappeared for a while is back as the more exciting sounding Gastro Menu, offering a decent fish and chips, burger and a vegetarian risotto for around £15 each. Full restaurant menu offers great options such as starters of Crab with a lemon grass sauce (really good), Asparagus and Egg, Lamb sweetbreads, and Scallop (yep, a singular large scallop) ranging from £9 to £13 each. Main course of Tomahawk steak for 2 people (£80) was huge with the steak cooked to perfection but needed more of the lovely Chimichurri which was barely there. Salt cod was excellent and is recommended. The Trout was good but the squid ink pasta it came with is rich and may not be to everybody's taste. A tasting menu is available for £75 a head with optional wine pairing for another £40 or so. Somehow despite the food being excellent the experience this time didn't have the same sparkle it has had on previous occasions. The service wasn't as sharp as it has been and there were some frustrations: despite it being a warm summers evening the radiators were on making some diners uncomfortable. We also tried to get some bread to mop up the lovely sauces but this was not possible without paying for £6 for portion of focaccia 🤷‍♂️ The Brewers is expensive but Sam is a fine chef and you should taste his dishes at least once. Hopefully you'll have a great time.

This autumn marks the exciting debut of The Suffolk and Sur-Mer in Aldeburgh, a charming coastal town known for its rich history and stunning scenery. Aldeburgh is not just about breathtaking views; it also boasts an impressive culinary scene with numerous restaurants that cater to diverse tastes.
Lunched here to celebrate our 36th Wedding anniversary accompanied by our lovely if rather friendly flat coated retriever. Impressed with both the service and the food. We had oysters and then shared the brill all of which was excellent. Very fresh. The roof terrace was a little breezy but worth it for the sea view and air!

Such a disappointment. In fact, we ate here in May; it's now October and I'm still bristling with annoyance at the poor, dismissive service. In fact, no service at all. Starters were super. We then waited almost an hour for our mains and couldn't even get enough attention to request a glass of wine whilst sitting there at our empty table. When it eventually came, the fish was barely warm. Returned and replaced, after another wait, with barely an apology. Tragic. We're lucky in Suffolk to have many fabulous places to eat. We won't be returning to this one. I've given one star for the starters.

My wife and I dined here for our 1st wedding anniversary this weekend. We had a lovely dinner with excellent wine. The chap who served us was charming, funny and gave excellent recommendations. My wife has a dairy intolerance, however the team and chefs produced a great selection for her. We finished our meal with a cocktail on the roof terrace gazing out to sea. A top, top place to visit - booking essential

We had a dinner with ~20 of our close family and friends at The Suffolk back in May the night before our wedding. James and the team at The Suffolk were extremely welcoming. We met with staff, including the chef, beforehand to confirm a menu and discuss details. They listened to our preferences and dietaries, and catered for everyone including toddlers. Everyone was extremely friendly and professional. They provided us and our guests with a night to remember with fantastic food and a relaxed but fun atmosphere. We highly recommend eating at The Suffolk, and considering them for any special occasions. We’ll definitely be back again soon.

All Style, Zero Substance: A One-Star Experience I was really looking forward to visiting this place; it looks absolutely adorable with a fantastic atmosphere. However, as charming as the decor is, it was impossible to leave satisfied, and I have to give it a dismal 1 star. I completely understand that the restaurant was packed and they had no tables available, so we went up to the terrace for a drink, happy to soak up the vibe. That’s when the problems started. We saw a table nearby happily eating fish and chips that were clearly from the shop across the street. Since the restaurant wasn't serving us food, I politely asked if we could do the same, hoping to at least get a simple bite to eat while having our drinks. The answer was a flat "No." I then asked about bar snacks or any alternative, and again, the answer was a simple refusal. The kicker came when I asked why the other table was allowed to have the outside fish and chips. The waiter's explanation? "They are the owners." Seriously? It is beyond ridiculous to create a two-class system for your customers. To have an owner-operated table openly flaunt delicious-looking food from another establishment, essentially "teasing" every other customer with a smell and sight of what they can't have, is just poor form. It's even more insulting when you refuse to allow your paying customers to do the same, especially when your own establishment is too busy to serve them anything at all. Cute place, nice view, but the lack of customer focus and the frankly absurd double standard makes this an experience I can't recommend. 1/5 stars.
Andrey L — Google review
Booked a double room with half board for two days. Allocated room 9 which had a small 4ft double bed positioned along a wall … not comfortable for two “mature”people having to climb over each other to get into bed! Room clean and pleasant otherwise. Service for dinner very slow -took an hour for main course to be served ( not helped as had obviously been first served to the wrong table which resulted in one dish being accepted by the other table and one sent back to kitchen only to be served to us twenty minutes later with concealed gravy and warmed up veg). Admittedly given a couple of drinks in compensation which was a nice gesture but would have preferred better food! Poor pub food menu overall Breakfast was, in contrast, freshly cooked and adequate. Didn’t stay for the second night

Nestled along the picturesque quayside of Woodbridge, The Anchor is a beloved pub that captures the essence of traditional English charm. Its inviting top bar exudes a cozy atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for both locals and visitors alike. The menu boasts a delightful mix of classic British dishes like Proctors St Edmunds sausages and slow-roasted Dingley Dell pork, alongside more adventurous options such as Malaysian chicken curry and aromatic duck filo parcels.
Stopped in for an early lunch, had the Thai Chicken Curry, while my partner had the Minute Steak and fries which she ordered as a medium. Both were delicious, possibly THE best curry I have had when eating out. A credit to the chef. Washed it down with a bottle of 0.5% Speckled Hen - the combination is fantastic, leaving a lovely post-lunch glow that is hard to find in your average pub. The Atmosphere is lively and The Anchor happily caters for families and groups, but booking early is advised. Staff are friendly, fast and attentive. The location, opposite the cinema and waterfront or a quick walk up into town, is optimally placed. Look no further for a lunch date to set you up for the day ahead.🍛🍻👏

The Anchor is probably the best foodie pub in Woodbridge and one of our favourite places to eat in general. As one of Vernon Blackmore’s pubs, you can always get a great curry (as I did on our last visit), but everything on the menu is cooked with love and very generously portioned. The staff are always excellent too.

Really good (pub)food and friendly staff. Exactly what you want after a hot summer day. We went here twice on our holiday for a meal, but should have gone more often, because the food is simply delicious.
Biem B — Google review
I've been here twice, a few weeks apart. The first time, the food was pretty good and I had no problem returning for future meals. The second time ensured I will probably never eat here again. I ordered a "crispy tofu burger" from that day's specials. Picking up the burger immediately caused it to just disintegrate into several pieces as all the fillings just dripped out all over the plate. The "burger" was five or six small chunks of very soft tofu, and not crispy at all. They tasted like they'd been boiled for 2 minutes and sloppily thrown into a bun with some sauce. The fries were so skinny they had literally no filling, but were the only things on the plate to provide a crispy texture. The salad was drowned in a dressing I personally found very sickly, so couldn't enjoy that either. It was overall a miserable eating experience, having to merely scrape "burger" debris up with a fork in an effort to get some of my money's worth.

A small town pub with a charm. It's very compact and spills onto the pavement with a few seats and sun shades. When you walk in the door you are immediately at the bar which made a point of congestion for pretty much everyone. That's the price you pay for old quaint pubs. The service was good but nothing to write home about. There's clearly a history here and the location is good, being close to the cinema, railway and river. Plenty of parking at the nearby leisure centre.

Wonderful ! The best Sunday lunch we've ever had in the area - Roast Beef and Vegetarian options were both delicious, with wonderfully, slightly al dente, vegetables: carrots, parsnips, cabbage, purple sprouting, cauliflower, crispy kale and roast potatoes. Smaller portions are available. Lemon Posset with shortbread and Apple Crumble with cardamon custard for dessert Everything was obviously freshly cooked in the kitchen. We drank Adnams low alcohol Ghost Ship and Montepulciano red wine. Watch out for low beams is you are tall. and avoid if you don't like dogs which are welcome here. Service not included. Visit the church opposite for secondhand books and wildlife -friendly churchyard (and a quick prayer if you're so inclined) but watch out crossing the road where drivers speed around the bend at 60mph..

We were up in North Norfolk on a few nights away to celebrate, and our meal here was one of the highlights. The food was amazing, and the service was exceptional. The restaurant was full of people that clearly love the place and have been before, and we could see why. The views over the water were phenomenal, especially watching the sun going down and being surrounded by candlelight. Thank you to everyone for a wonderful meal.

We came for an anniversary dinner, this was our first visit here, when we were seated we were given a lovely card wishing us a happy anniversary. Our waiter was super friendly and went above and beyond. Drinks came quickly and the non alcoholic cocktail was delicious. Food can and it was outstanding! I had the ravioli which was delicious, my wife had a seafood dish which she absolutely loved! The only slight complaint she had, is she struggled with the crayfish shell as she only had a knife and fork to attempt to crack it. Dessert came and we were surprised with the 4 small desserts on a slate that said ‘happy anniversary’, this was such a lovely surprise. It was delicious and very much appreciated. We also had a lemon tart and the caramelised white chocolate, both of these were beautifully presented and delicious. I really liked that the tart had a crispy top, I haven’t seen this in another restaurant before, but it was lovely. And I was so happy to have a lemon tart that actually tasted of lemon! We will definitely return again.

I recently visited this place and had a brilliant time! Carolina was a star, sorting us out with a table in the restaurant when we accidentally ended up in the bar—definitely a bit unclear on the website, but she handled it like a pro. The food and drinks were spot on, with everything piping hot and super tasty. The atmosphere was nice, too, though it felt a touch busier than I expected. Overall, the service was exceptional, and I left feeling really satisfied!

We didn’t. Stay but I have no doubt that the room will be as great as the food and people here. My wife had always wanted to come here so a week in North Norfolk gave us the opportunity. We came twice, once for a drink and a recky and the other time was for our last evening before we headed home. Everything was easy and well considered and for someone who likes stuff to work, it was a sheer delight. We arrived early and took a drink down to the lower deck to watch the sunset before finding our table in the restaurant for a fish supper. Staff were confident, well trained and full of empathy. Nothing was too much trouble.forgive me for forgetting names but the Brazilian lass was world class and John Wayne looked after us at the table with just the right amount of banter. Oh the food and the Oyster Catcher real ale was top class too. Thank you to all concerned with the planning of and execution of this really special place. It was all super great.

Great food and wonderful serving staff. Made us feel really welcome and cared for. It's a shame the kitchen seemed a bit overwhelmed though. It took far too long for the food actually to arrive (although it was worth the wait)

Always excellent food, with a focus on fish and seafood. Service was great. It was our anniversary and they made it feel both special and informal. I booked one of the EV chargers in advance. They had to find a Porsche EV owner who’d ignored the reservation and parked there (without charging!🤣), asked him to vacate. It’s a really useful service to offer for guests who have a bit of a drive home.

Rooftop Gardens in Norwich is a unique rooftop restaurant and bar offering stunning 360-degree panoramic views of the city. It serves European and world cuisine, making it a popular lunch spot since its opening in October 2016. The venue also hosts special afternoon teas with a festive menu that includes sandwiches, scones, mince pies, and an assortment of cakes and patisserie. Additionally, Rooftop Gardens is an elegant setting for wedding receptions and other events.
I visited for drinks with 8 friends to celebrate a birthday. We sat outside & there was a jazz band playing which was lovely. The drinks were yummy & brought over to us fairly quickly, but my bowl of fries took at least 20-30 minutes (& it was a pretty small bowl for £4) 😥 We would have ordered main dishes here if the vegan options had been better, we found the menu online beforehand & noticed that cauliflower steak was the only vegan main so we decided to eat elsewhere. Before we left, we discovered a special menu specifically for that evening with more vegan options on but unfortunately we had a table booked elsewhere at this point. The view is stunning up on the roof. It's definitely a good place to go for a special occassion.

First the positives! The service was amazing my two servers were attentive and just good people. No fault to them at all. The crème brûlée itself. Good. And the Mock-tail. One of the best I’ve had! The negatives. Cutting to the chase. Within an hour of being here I found myself in the bathroom suffering, to what I’m going to assume was a bunch of semi uncooked rice within the duck chorizo dish. ( granted on me for eating it but thought maybe semi cooked for the style of dish. I don’t like making a big deal about things in person so I pointed it out after finishing a large amount and didn’t think much off it) However, didn’t help that I also caught a medium chunk of bone within the dish as well, which could have been a choke risk if I hadn’t noticed it. For the price of nearly £40, I expected/ hoped for better. Maybe an off night as general reviews here are great and I feel guilty even giving a bad review but felt like something should be said! Again. Service was amazing considering I was a solo eater I can’t fault them at all, the food has left me unwell and wishing I went else where though.

Went here to celebrate my friends birthday, booked it as a surprise and she was really pleased. The food was delicious and the cocktails were lovely. We had an amazing day but if I had one complaint the service for drinks was quite slow- however it was a saturday and they were really busy. We still had a great time, the sun was shining and the views were spectacular.

We had Sunday lunch and sad to say that four of our meals were cold. We told the waiter and he was amazing. They took the four meals away, brought four fresh meals to our table which were piping hot and couldn’t have apologised more. All the staff were fantastic. When they brought our bill they didn’t charge us for a bottle of wine. Customer service was fantastic and we’ll certainly go back again. 👏🏻👏🏻

Had dinner here with family and I was extremely disappointed. The seating in a booth was very old and torn in places. The service was very mediocre- waited long time for drinks. Asked for our water to be filled up and this came, after asking again, with the bill. The food was dreadful. We all had something different and it was all tasteless, extremely overpriced - £21 for pasta, broccoli and three pieces of halloumi. The whole chicken was dry and over cooked. It’s easy to say complain at the time but we couldn’t be bothered as all the food was poor. I am happy to pay the price for good food but honestly this was dreadful. We won’t be returning or recommending.

Our waiter (Mira) was one of the most friendly people I have met in a long time. 1st class service. We decided to order some food in my personal opinion it could have been presented a lot better. It was poor, to say the least. With having a small menu, it should be perfect. The plate itself was far too big for the quantity of food. Whoever decided to season the chips went over board with the salt, I do like more salt than most, but that was ridiculous! The cocktail was perfect. I would go again, just for drinks. There is a small carpark on the ground £2. All evening.

First time at this restaurant. Booked for our anniversary. Only good thing about this place is the waiters. Couldn’t fault them. The outside area is very dated and needs some TLC. Should have realised this wasn’t going to go well when we were seated inside and there were stained on the seats. Had the starters which were ok, nothing special. I had the monkfish skewer, it was ok, could do with seasoning but the potatoes and tomatoes were good so this helped flavour the monkfish. My wife had the cod. It came luke warm and raw! Sent it back. I finished my meal, the second cob came back…. Even more raw than the first! The waiter was great and very apologetic. Wasn’t charged for the cod (obviously) and 20% off the bill. So that was at least something. We left to get a Tesco meal deal for my wife and on the way out, spoke to the manger and explained what had happened, the response ‘sorry about that’. If you want a special occasion with your significant offer, this is NOT the place. I have a 2 for the atmosphere only because it’s not a place for a romantic occasion. Again, great if you out with the lads or a party. Probably great to go out with the lads but definitely DO Not have the fish!

The Lighthouse in Aldeburgh is a popular restaurant that has been serving locals and visitors for over 25 years. The restaurant offers a relaxed dining experience with indoor and outdoor seating options. The menu focuses on locally sourced ingredients, including fish from the North Sea, meat from a nearby supplier, and salad leaves from a local grower. The chef takes pride in creating dishes such as oysters, smoked salmon cured in-house gin, and fish pie.
Excellent high end (for Aldeburgh) restaurant. The food was delicious and the service was very competent, personal and friendly. We enjoyed the asparagus and the mains in particular. The fish and chips were very good, but there were more interesting things on the menu.

Superb meal and a very warm welcome from Sam. The fish soup was delicious and the sea bass was exceptional. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening and will definitely visit again.

First impressions of The Lighthouse were a little mixed—it feels more like a casual café than a full-fledged restaurant. However, any initial doubts quickly faded once the food arrived. Opting for a tapas-style lunch, we shared six starters between the three of us. The standout was undoubtedly the local asparagus—perfectly cooked and full of flavour. Other highlights included tender calamari, well-seasoned falafel, a fresh tomato and mozzarella salad, rich duck noodles, and succulent scallops. Each dish was thoughtfully prepared and offered something a bit different. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and attentive throughout, adding to the relaxed, pleasant atmosphere. Our total bill came to £85 for a light lunch for three—reasonable for the quality and variety we enjoyed. Overall, The Lighthouse delivered far more than its unassuming appearance suggested. A great spot for a laid-back yet high-quality meal in Aldeburgh.

What a wonderful lunch 11 of us had to celebrate a 60th anniversary. As ever the food, service and atmosphere were impeccable. One of my favourite restaurants in the UK, because you know you will be looked after, it’s high quality without being pretentious, it’s authentic, professional and relaxed- which is why these guys are still going strong after 30 years - thank you to the whole team - we will be with you next time we are in Aldeburgh - can’t recommend highly enough for anything from a lovely meal two up to a big family celebration

What a wonderful lunch! The front of house team are friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. The food was glorious- every mouthful is one to savour. The atmosphere is cozy - our table was tucked away in an alcove, but we weren’t ignored! Overall five stars well earned!

Oh my goodness, the food here was absolutely incredible! I live in London and eat out at plenty of great restaurants, but this was on another level. I started with the hot smoked salmon and scallops, followed by sea bass with risotto, heavenly. The portions were just right, and we finished with the most perfect tiramisu. Every single dish was flawless from start to finish.

We used to visit the lighthouse years ago when the bar was centrally placed in the main room, the room was glorious, warm and it was the place to go. We stopped going when it all went 'seaside modern' although the food was still OK. The atmosphere was gone. We visited again last week and it felt dreadful. Slow unresponsive staff. Pets under tables with food and water bowls and mess everywhere plus drunk guests, I guess we were unlucky. The food was OK, but so spoilt by the overall look and feel of the place. More café these days. Shame.

We visited this charming little village restaurant for a small Christmas meal and left thoroughly impressed. The staff were incredibly attentive, making us feel warmly welcomed from start to finish. To our delight, we were served pre-starters—because who wouldn’t love an extra treat? I began with a rich, buttery soup that was deliciously thick and full of flavor. For my main course, the steak was cooked to absolute perfection, and I finished the meal with a decadent chocolate torte—easily one of the best desserts I’ve ever had. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience, and I would happily return for another meal.

The Belgian Monk, located in the historic Pottergate area of Norwich, has been a staple since its opening in 2000. This classic alehouse offers an extensive selection of 45 Belgian beers and a diverse menu featuring mussels, meat plates, and vegan dishes. The pub prides itself on its relaxed atmosphere and affordable pricing. Additionally, diners can enjoy the substantial beer garden for an al fresco experience. Under new management by Wursty Four Biers Ltd.
We had a really lovely time they catered well to the dietary needs of the group and the waiter was really lovely and friendly. They were all very attentive. The only disappointing thing is that two of the dishes said they come in a cob loaf but actually they came in a bowl with the bread on the side other than that it was a lovely time and nice meal

Gonna be realistic. 1. Service nice staff but asked to order at the bar and then after found out service charge is included? Never offered sauce asked and ran off the second I mentioned it before the other half could ask. 2. Ordered a steak burger, nothing steak about it, very nice burger but not really as advertised and 17 quid is not ‘cheap’ Fish and chips was very nice. Lots of nearby positive places to visit will likely not return following a long stint of not coming.

This pub is right next to a beautiful historic church, which is honestly what drew me in—I'm a big fan of places with a bit of history. They offer a great selection of Belgian beers and ales ranging from 4% to 9% (which, no, I didn't dive into this time!). The building itself has some gorgeous original features, but sadly, many of them are covered up. In particular, there's a wall in the beer garden that could have been a stunning highlight, rich in character. But instead it's hidden behind a rather unattractive shelter. A real missed opportunity for charm and atmosphere. Unfortunately, the service was disappointing. When we asked for two drinks in half pints, the staff member sharply replied, "We only offer half pints." It came across more as attitude than helpfulness. No need to be snippy about it.

Absolutely fantastic place and my nee favorite in Norwich. The food is scrumdiddlydumptious, beer and cider great and staff are fast, friendly and just what you need on your day out. I like that not only the food is amazing but it's also different to your standard English pub menu that tends to be same everywhere else. Perfect for meat, seafood and potato lovers and has veg options too. Dog friendly and as it has the baby changing board it's also baby friendly.

Holkham Hall is a stunning stately home located in Norfolk, England. This magnificent Palladian mansion is surrounded by acres of parkland and is close to the beautiful north Norfolk coast. Visitors can explore the ornate interiors, including the Bygones Museum, which offers a glimpse into the past. The estate also features an 18th-century walled garden, woodland play area, and a museum showcasing art collections and restored Victorian kitchens.
The grounds are wonderful. After parking £6. You can access the play area free and high ropes for adventure minded. Cafe is excellent. We hired bikes and would have liked at better run through for 8 yo and 11 yo. Too many gears for occasional riders.

Great place for a day out. Lovely walking around the grounds, a good-quality cafe, and an interesting house. The number of deer in the park is a standout feature. The walled garden is very impressive and well worth the short walk, as it’s not near the house. A big thank you to the person at visitor reception who refunded one of our tickets when one of us was unable to attend.

This is one of the most interesting great houses we have had the pleasure to see. Built between 1734 and 1764 and privately owned by the Coke (pronounced “Cook”) family since then, it is a success story that integrates history and farming. Although tourism clearly makes up a very significant chunk of its revenue, the 25,000 acre estate’s farming, forestry and construction operations - all of which adhere to agricultural, ecological, conservation, and sustainability best practices - fill the coffers. Before you tour the William Kent-designed Palladian house, visit the massive walled garden, rent a bike for the day, attend a special event, or walk for free in the park, please take time to explore the exceptional Holkam Stories Exhibit just past the ticket office. Not only does it set the stage for your day, describe the owners, and discuss the origin of the Coke (read: Bowler) hat, but it outlines how cutting edge technology, now and in the past, has often been integrated into the estate's operations. In fact, this exhibit is so good we spent a full hour there! As for the house, it is - as one would expect - spectacular, but since it is a working home there is not as much information available in the rooms as one might encounter at other great homes (no matter: ask one of the excellent volunteers). The vast walled garden, a 15-minute walk from the house, is worth a visit to see how successfully it is being brought back to life after years of neglect. The gift shop is well stocked with a wide variety of local items. All told, we found our day at Holkam fascinating and more than a bit surprising. Allow at least four hours (but we spent over six).
David R — Google review
House, grounds, walled garden, cafe and shop were all very good. Every member of staff went far beyond pleasant and gave such a personal welcome. Other stately homes would do well to come and see how it should be done. It will be the highlight of our Norfolk break that plus the coastal towns and villages, A real Norfolk welcome plus delicious food.

Stayed on site afew times and use the Victoria as a place to meet family for lunch/dinner. It’s an amazing place. The deer calmly roam the site whilst the building itself is in incredible condition. It’s well worth a walk around the inside as the guides are fantastic and really give an insight into its history. The playground is also amazing and really well laid out. Great place and an awesome day out for the family.

We enjoyed our family holiday in Holkham, the cottage was very comfortable and conveniently positioned next door to a non-rowdy public house, the Hero. We ate at the Hero and it was a pleasant experience, the food was good, the seating comfortable. Once in the house the Pub's customers couldn't be heard. We had a very pleasant week's holiday. The beaches are amazing, large expanses of nice soft sand, fringed with conifer woods and the occasional deciduous tree, when the tide goes out there is a massive area of golden sand but also a fair bit of mud, so keep your eyes on your kids.

Great food with stunning views over the River Deben. This pub gets really busy. We visited at the weekend for lunch and the place was heaving. Lots of outdoor seating but most of it was already taken making it difficult to get a table. Luckily we had pre-booked a table inside. I would suggest that you make a booking plenty of time in advance to avoid being disappointed should you wish to dine here. Food is excellent and the staff are efficient and friendly despite being rushed off their feet.

Fast food restaurant
Aldeburgh Fish & Chip Shop is a renowned family-run establishment that has been serving delicious fish and chips since 1967. Located in the charming coastal town of Aldeburgh, this eatery has garnered praise from various publications for its delectable offerings. The shop's rich history and positive reviews make it a must-visit dining destination for those exploring the Suffolk coast.
I saw this place was highly rated so I went to check it out. There was a massive queue of locals outside so that was a good sign. Being used to London prices I was shocked when my cod, chips, mushy peas and can of drink came to just £11.90. I sat in the nearby beach to eat it. It was delicious and totally warrants the high ratings. Found a few bones on the cod so be careful of that. Definitely would go back here if in the area again.
Chris G — Google review
Been here a few times and was fairly nice before. Portions are tiny! Expect a small portion when you pay for the large. Haddock was so thin and bone dry. Well overcooked. Chips were tasty, but you really do get a pathetic portion which barely lines the bottom the bag. You pay good money for something, you expect quality! This was far from it. Trouble is, so many think it's great and the queues are often very big, so why would they care if they put out mediocre food and charge a lot for it if people keep coming back? If you have reviewed this place as the best in the UK, you really need to go outside of Aldeburgh because this is far from it! Photo is the haddock which is supposed to be large! I've had bigger fish fingers! Some of the staff are rude, but that's the least of their worries here.
Chris B — Google review
My fish and chips were quite good, but the experience was soured by two things: the small portion size for the price and the miserable attitude of the person who served me. I wouldn't go back.
Seaview A — Google review
Very tasty and fresh hot fish (tried cod and haddock), too many chips, good tasting. However: It's difficult to season when served in a bag, fish on top, not to mention hard to eat. Very messy sitting on the bench at seafront. What a lovely seaside visit.
C I — Google review
Queued for 15 minutes just after opening on Sunday evening. Was well worth the wait as the fish and chips were excellent and we sat on the beach nearby to eat them
Carl D — Google review
Excellent fish&chips, just on the pricier side and the queue was horrendous. Worth the wait though, the fish was perfectly fried, chips were good (they let you do your own salt & vinegar which I always appreciate) although chips portion size caught us off guard. Most chippies give you crazy amounts of chips (enough for 2 ppl to share 1 large) so we ordered medium portions, 1 per person and that was *just* enough. Would have liked a few more, but on the plus side I for once didn't over-eat when getting fish and chips so perhaps I needed the external moderation! Friendly and skilled staff, they suggested we just buy a bottle of ketchup instead of the 6 sachets I had ordered, as that would work out cheaper. Thoughtful, that. Recommended!

Eating lovely fish and chips whilst sitting on the sea watching the waves crash in was delicious. The Butt & Oyster is a popular pub located in a stunning waterfront location on the river Orwell in Suffolk. It offers a selection of Suffolk ales and global cuisine, with picturesque views of barges and swans. The rustic interior features bare oak floorboards and boating memorabilia, creating a cozy atmosphere described as a "smugglers retreat." Visitors can enjoy Adnams beers, home-cooked food, and wonderful aromas from the kitchen while taking in the scenic river views.
First time here, the staff were really helpful and professional. The food was excellent, we had four mains, all were very tasty, well presented, and good size portions. We would definitely visit again. The only minor issue is the parking, as the pub is clearly popular, the staff again were willing to help where they could.

My only gripe was the price, especially of the beer. but this isn’t an isolated issue, it’s all over Suffolk. I’d recommend this quaint bar restaurant to anyone passing by, and I would make the journey to visit again for sure.

Nestled on the outskirts of Norwich, The Wildebeest is a delightful blend of rustic-chic charm and fine dining. This village pub-restaurant, under the talented guidance of local chef Daniel Smith, offers an inventive British menu that showcases imaginative flavors and exceptional service. With its elegant terrace and inviting atmosphere, it’s a perfect spot for both casual meals and special occasions.
Fantastic location for truly wonderful food and exceptional service. The food is perfect and obviously of the highest quality. Service was quick, attentive and welcoming. Beautiful dining room with every little detail thought of. Loved the gluggle jugs for water! Everything from the fresh bread rolls to the thinnest pastry on desert was just perfect!

This is a super restaurant with fantastic food. We enjoyed a family dinner here and honestly can’t praise it enough. When you order, you’re able to choose from various menus on your table (some of which are very good value). The service speed for food and drinks was perfect for the occasion and the staff were really friendly. I had the Roots menu, which was honestly amazing and such great value. The filet of beef was just exquisite! Others on my table also really enjoyed the venison starter, the chicken liver parfait and the banoffee soufflé. We will absolutely be returning to this restaurant and would recommend to all. I think the meal I had could have been star worthy - it was definitely on par, if not better than, other starred restaurants in the area.

What a wonderful place! I first saw the restaurant come up on Instagram and thought it all looked so lovely so we decided to book and wow it was amazing food was super delicious and all of the staff were supper happy to help and very polite 😁I don't think I have ever eaten a meal that was so beautifully plated that tasted so amazing. Definitely a very special place❤️

After reading reviews, I had high expectations, but unfortunately reality fell short. The restaurant car park was very busy on a Sunday afternoon, so much so, some cars had to park on the path (be aware you may not be able to park in the restaurant car park). The venue is beautiful, the restaurant is classy but not over fussy, you feel immediately comfortable. We were sat at the table and ordered the set menu at £32 per person for 2 courses, we decided to have the mackerel, road beef roast dinner and the salted caramel sponge. The mackerel was beautifully presented but there were 9 bones, aware this isnt easy to de-bone but this is possible if you take your time. I mentioned it to the server and she said she would tell the chef. The roast beef was the star of the show, super soft, cooked perfectly but that was overshadowed but the amount of salt on everything, the veg in the pot was un creative and the larger pieces of cauliflower were undercooked. The salted caramel after the heavily salted main course was a big miss, I didn’t enjoy it, perhaps with a different main it would have been enjoyable. Was really hoping this was going to be brilliant, on our first visit it simply wasn’t.

Really excellent food. We had the menu-du-jour which was amazing value. Very tempted by the other dishes so we will be back.
Karen B — Google review
The starter was very nice, but the mains for my partner and I were so salty and sharp that we couldn’t taste the contrasts in the different components on the plate. My duck was slightly over cooked and my partners beef was raw in parts, when she asked for med rare. Service was good and setting was nice. Funnily my partner said to me on the way in, that her two only experiences of eating here were finding the food too salty, so to have this experience on my first and her third time says something about the kitchen. Maybe get a group of people together and have a taste test, because it’s off the chart. We had the duck and the beef mains. The scallop starters which were £25 each were nice, although a bit pricey. Could have done with a little more samphire and less ink. But the flavours were balanced. I wouldn’t want to eat here again, simply because of those mains. No balance at all sorry.

Wonderful evening and excellent tasting menu. Service was exceptional and the wine list was fab. Allergy alternatives were well thought out and straight forward!
Katie B — Google review
We had an excellent lunchtime taster menu with the accompanying wine flight. The food was cooked to perfection, the duck main was absolutely delicious. Service was fantastic too, really friendly and able to answer any questions about the menu. A little explanation of each wine pairing would have been nice, i.e. where it came from and why it was chosen to match the dish. It certainly didn't ruin our experience, but it would definitely have been a nice touch. Definitely recommend this place though!

Located in Pakefield, Lowestoft's southernmost point, The Jolly Sailors offers stunning coastal views and has recently undergone a makeover by new owners Moss & Co. The pub and restaurant provide a gleaming gastropub experience with indoor and outdoor seating that overlooks Pakefield beach. Visitors can enjoy generous portions of delicious food made from fresh ingredients while taking in the picturesque sea view. Additionally, the establishment is known for its friendly service and dog-friendly bar area.
Visiting the area and after a walk by the beach we thought we would stop by The Jolly Sailor. It was lunchtime and we was surprised by the relaxed atmosphere, the bar allowed and dogs and lovely fab views across the sea. We ended up staying for lunch, both fish and chips and scampi were lovely, hot and delicious. 100% worth a visit, Thankyou.

Incredible food! Beautifully presented too. Service was friendly and warm. The staff even did their best to cater to our children’s allergies and autism/picky eating.

Working nearby and I have visited on every trip since discovering it. A nice walk from my hotel along the sea front then a great view from the pub. The food was the best I’ve had, this time I went for the whole place in shrimp sauce with potatoes and beans, £23 but worth every penny. The fish was perfectly cooked and quite thick so my hesitation about not satisfying my appetite was not needed. The beer was problematic pumping and although acceptable I questioned it 🤔 and was asked if ok but did not want to be fussy as just a bit on the flat side but was real ale. After the meal the nice lady said she had changed the barrel and would I like a half on the house which I accepted ,very good service in going that bit further to look after customers .👍

Genuinely the best battered cod I've had in a long time, which alongside 2 other dishes all came out really quickly. Nice pub with excellent sea views, very friendly staff and a good atmosphere.

Popped in for something to eat, saw they had Abbots Ale on tap so had that with the fish and chips. The food was good, let down a little by the chips. The beer was very disappointing as it was cloudy and had floaters in it. The bar staff apologised and said someone had just moved the barrel a little too hard, and they refunded me the cost of the pint. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Excellent food, good selection of real ales from multiple breweries. Nice atmosphere too. Really good table service, yet remaining the relaxed pub vibe. Amazing views over the coast also

Pea Porridge is a Mediterranean-influenced fine dining restaurant located in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. It holds the distinction of being the first and only restaurant in Suffolk to receive a Michelin star award, which it achieved in 2021. The restaurant is situated on what was once known as Pea Porridge Green and features a rustic setting with exposed brickwork and pine tables.
The food was absolutely impeccable. The venison with pumpkin was exquisite, and the quail — wow! Every bite was matched by the warmth and kindness of the staff. Wishing a very happy birthday to the chef — you made my birthday truly wonderful too!

Absolutely amazing meal, staff and atmosphere were brilliant. Despite being on the higher price point, every bite feels worth the money. Only comment would be that a couple of the plates that were given to us between dishes has some visible dirt or something on them aswell as being chipped on the corner. Not exactly the standard expected by a Michelin meal. But again only a minor point as this was overshadowed by the excellent food

Nestled within an enchanting 18th-century deer park, The Gunton Arms offers a luxurious retreat that beautifully marries British dining with rustic charm. Just a short drive from the picturesque coastline of Cromer, this former hunting lodge boasts refined accommodations and complimentary breakfast for guests. As you wander through its expansive grounds, be prepared for the delightful sounds of nature—especially during mating season when the local deer make their presence known.
You park in a very large car park and enter the grounds of Gunton House via a steel gate. About 100m ahead is the Gunton Arms. As we approached the pub we could see a herd of deer, some with large set of antlers. Not your everyday pub this. Warm greeting and taken through to our table. This is a dog friendly place and we had taken our cocker spaniel with us to enjoy our anniversary meal. The food was very tasty. We were in a back area where there is less light. At times it was a little dark for us, we are in our late 60s, the table candle not quite bright enough. Very romantic as it was. We had said it was our anniversary and they left a card for us wishing us all the best for our happy event. They even placed a chocolate message on our dessert which was so sweet of them. My wife had already taken some of the letters off without realizing it was a message. 😂. This chocolate torte with superb cherries was unbelievable. Highly recommended on all counts, venue, service and food.

The Gunton Arms is a truly unique and unforgettable destination. From the moment you arrive, you’re transported to a world of exceptional food, stunning art, and incredible atmosphere. The setting in the middle of a sprawling deer park is simply magical. Beyond the fantastic food, the pub itself is a work of art, with a roaring fire, quirky decor, and a collection of stunning pieces on the walls. The service is always friendly and welcoming. It's the perfect place for a special occasion or a cozy country escape.

What an incredible evening meal and nights stay followed by breakfast the next. A HUGE portion of very high quality steak for dinner after a drink in the garden (a whole deer park) beforehand. Food aside, the service was brilliant, mixing the feel and friendliness of a local pub tied into a well functioning restaurant.
Nick G — Google review
A uniquely styled location! Menus ( bar food and dining room) are excellent if a little expensive( but great quality) with much choice and local suppliers. However gluten- free choices are not marked up, making it difficult to know with asking if coeliacs can have a good meal too.

We had a disabled person with us the access to the Venue was very difficult poor lightning in the car park and the pathway from the car park to the venue was uneven and not lit. The paving stones at the entrance were uneven. On arrival no one came to meet us and we had to look for someone in the restaurant. They then pointed us to the Table and left us to try and negotiate through the seated restaurant with a disabled guest. We realised this was not possible and then searched for an alternative route. Which we found this made our guest very embarrassed self conscious and uncomfortable. The waiter took our order and told us about the dishes on the menu and we decided to take his recommdation of the Rib eye steak looked and tasted amazing however the Goose fat roast potatoes served with this dish were undercooked and seemed to be deep-fried. Which very disappointing. We were then told as we were waiting for desserts that the coffee was being switched off so if we wanted coffee we had to order them now. So we were made to feel rushed. Therefore all in all not a good experience
David G — Google review
We didn’t stay at the hotel, just went for food. Incredible setting …not that easy to find! You have to go through the gates into the park - loads of deer running free. It was a Sunday night - restaurant fully booked ( and we had our dog) so had some bar snacks. Very friendly bar staff, nice bar, lots of character. Pool table. Food was good. Thank you

An amazing pub. We had a superb meal here. We were fortunate enough to be accommodated as it was fairly last minute booking. You must book in advance as it was packed.

The Gunton Arms is set just within Gunton estate. There are deer roaming nearby on the estate. The pub itself is extensive inside and hosts an open fire where various meats are cooked. There is also plenty of seafood on the menu and a dedicated vegan/vegetarian menu if you request. There is also an extensive wine menu. Service was great and of course so was the food. All in all, very happy.

The Lamb Inn, a classic pub from Stonegate Pubs, is a stylish and inviting establishment located in the heart of Norwich city center. It offers upscale pub grub including gourmet burgers and a kids' menu, making it an ideal spot for families. The pub boasts indoor and outdoor seating as well as a lively atmosphere that kids will love.
Nestled away in the middle of the city centre, is this gorgeous pub visually it is stunning, there’s a pink photo booth that’s a bit out of place but still funny to see peoples reactions, I remember coming years and years (perhaps 12) with family and remember the food being much better. We both had burgers and chips which were rather hard and lacking flavour (but still much better than any fast food place in the city)can’t fault the service, staff have great personality and were very friendly. The table we had opted to sit was a benched booth but the bench had arm rests and was massively challenging to get in without pushing the table (think we just chose a bad seat 😂) overall atmosphere great, food average, unlikely to return for food. But nice to return for a drink.

If you're looking for the perfect blend of great food, cold drinks, and an unbeatable atmosphere—this place delivers on all fronts. From the moment you walk in, the energy is electric. Massive screens everywhere make it the ultimate sports bar experience—every seat has a great view of the game. The menu is impressive for a pub—definitely more than your typical bar fare. The wings are next-level, the burgers are juicy and perfectly cooked, and the loaded fries? Unreal. You can tell they actually care about the food here, not just the drinks. Speaking of drinks—ice-cold beers on tap, solid cocktails, and a great selection of spirits. Prices are fair, and the staff is friendly, fast, and clearly know how to keep the vibe going, even on a packed game night. Whether you're catching a match with friends, grabbing a bite solo, or just looking for a lively place to unwind, this spot nails it. Definitely a new go-to!

It was busy when I arrived but managed to get a table, lots of seating outside too. Bar staff were very friendly, felt like a nice atmosphere to sit and relax with a drink. Had the chicken and bacon club baguette which was good value, arrived quickly and was very tasty. My only gripe would be it was £6 for a bottle of low alcohol Ghost Ship that a felt was a little pricey. Dog friendly and look forward to visiting again in the future.

I really enjoyed my visit to the Lamb Inn in Norwich. The food was excellent, especially the chicken wings they tasted just like the ones I had back home in Sri Lanka. We went for a Mother’s Day meal and we had the most wonderful time. There was plenty of parking and we were shown to our table promptly. There were lots of drinks options even for alcohol free. Karen was our server and she was so friendly and accommodating, e specially with my 10 month old! She really helped make the day just that extra touch more special. Best ribs in Chappel. Large portion of very tender meat that fell off the bone. Served with a tasty salad and chips. Go early so that you can park. Excellent walk afterwards around the Millennium Green accessed at the back of the pub with great views of the viaduct for the trainspotters. Would go back again for the ribs but it would be great to sit outdoors in the summer when it is warmer.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Swan Inn – Chappel 🍽️🍺 A warm, welcoming pub in a picture-perfect English village! 🏡✨ We stopped at The Swan Inn in Chappel with our family and had a fantastic experience – great food, lovely atmosphere, and a proper countryside charm. 🍔 The menu has something for everyone – from pub classics to a few seasonal surprises. Our burgers were juicy, the fish and chips crispy and fresh, and the kids’ meals came in generous portions. The desserts were the cherry on top – sticky toffee pudding highly recommended! 🍰 🍺 Great selection of local ales and ciders – perfect for relaxing after a walk around the village or along the nearby railway. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 The staff were incredibly friendly, patient with the kids, and made us feel right at home. There’s outdoor seating too, which is ideal on a sunny day – with views of the historic Chappel Viaduct in the background. 🌉 If you're in the area or exploring the countryside near Colchester, The Swan Inn is a perfect stop for a hearty meal and genuine hospitality. Came here for the first time on a bank holiday and we'll definitely be coming back. The staff were all welcoming from when we arrived, and our table was in a really bright, spacious area overlooking the courtyard. We both ordered the megamix roasts, which had generous portions of delicious beef, pork and turkey - complete with plenty of trimmings. After getting a dessert each, too, we were surprised to learn just how affordable it all was. This was because of the Monday roast discount, but we would have happily paid the regular price! Also, special shoutout to our waitress, Darcey. Really friendly and efficient with our food and drinks 🍻

Have been here many times since moving to Earls Colne. This particular evening wasn't quite up to standard. Came to celebrate mother in laws 76yh birthday. I have to say going out for food can be challenging at tines, but out waitress Karen at the Swan was a absolute gem, Karen went above and beyond to ensure my wife was comfortable with what she was ordering and gonna be served. Went today for Mother’s Day Sunday Roast and we was extremely disappointed. We go here during the summer months as its views are lovely. We had 3 Roast dinners two beef and one pork belly. All three were very poor quality. Potatoes hard and beef very chewy. The pork was very hard and dry. The beef burger was dry and very poorly presented. The portion control needs to be looked at as it Varys table to table. Lastly being a dog owner I am all for dogs being in country pubs however allowing dogs to sit on chairs at tables inside i think it’s a little too far.

Table booked for 1pm. Main dishes arrived at 2.30pm. Considering it was not busy for a Wednesday lunchtime this is an unacceptable wait. I suggest you get more kitchen staff if you want to remain a viable business. Service poor, food average. My husbands french fries were dry and hard, not cooked fresh in my opinion. Considering you had 1.5 hours to cook a fresh batch this is poor. Disappointed this visit so for that reason we won't return.

Visited on a Friday night for dinner. Good menu options including vegan options. Tofu 'fish' burger was really nice and a bit different from the normal 'beef' option. The cauliflower and gnocchi main was tasty but could have been enjoyed more if there was a bit more of it. Pub/bar area busy on a Friday night and fairly loud. Not an issue for us on the other side of the room but if you're visiting with people who are hard of hearing it might cause an issue. Perhaps it's quieter during the week. Doggy friendly and lovely seating outside next to the river. Staff very good. Food on time etc. No issues at all. Would go back and recommend.

The actual venue is beautiful, however, I ordered the burger which was served medium and due to kidney issues I was very sick. I wasn't asked my preference on cooking and if it said it on the menu I must have missed it. I stopped eating it when I noticed the pink and also it didn't taste very nice to me. However, my friend ordered the same and was very happy with it so maybe a me problem. The service was brilliant, everyone was very attentive. Log fire and decor was lovely. Would go again but avoid the burger lol. Beautiful desserts.

The garden rooms are bright and cozy, adorned with botanical prints and equipped with Illy coffee machines. Guests can also enjoy their own private wooden hot tub in the Best Lodge for ultimate relaxation. This listed pub has been beautifully renovated into a modern country pub, offering luxurious dining under a magnificent teepee.
Had a great stay. Evening food was delicious and breakfast was particularly good - freshly cooked and high quality ingredients. The lodges are lovely - very private, quiet, well decorated and carefully thought out. The dog friendliness here is next level - we got a little bed, two bowls and some treats in our room and the staff seated us in dog-friendly spots in the restaurant when we ate. The dining extension on the building is very impressive. Hot tub was great. Only word of warning would be to bring something to cover up the fire exit lights in the room (which I realise are probably mandatory for H&S reasons so I don’t blame the venue at all) - they light up the whole room and if you need dark to sleep, you won’t sleep at all! Would definitely recommend for food and to stay.

Superb meal here, with excellent relaxed and knowledgable service on a busy Saturday evening. Stayed in one the lodges, very spacious and well thought-out, and set well away from the pub. Breakfast was excellent too. Only issues would be the two bright green exit lights and blinking smoke alarm over the bed that Illuminate the room at night and would keep light sleepers (like me) awake. Sure they’re not essential to be *quite* as bright, as other rooms we’ve stayed recently haven’t needed them. And while there was plenty of regular and decaf coffee pods supplied for the coffee machine, would have been nice to have more than two lonely regular tea bags, and some milk too - not everyone is a coffee drinker!

Absolutely loved my birthday meal here! Beautifully done extension to original building offered great views of the gardens (and of course the willow!) Friendly, attentive service. Food was fantastic - on a par with the very best we’ve had in London - risotto with artichoke & blue cheese was delicious, and the treacle tart with nutty ice cream was just sublime! Birthday extra of chocolate brownie bites was the icing on the cake 🥰

Shown to your table and offered drinks. Everything was great. We didn’t have to wait for food and the food was superb. I had beef which was so tender. My wife had Haddock and she said the it was so good the batter was light. Sorry I don’t know the name of our server but she was lovely had time to chat and make us feel welcome. Our whole experience was great. We will definitely be coming back and would recommend you to our friends as well. Thank you.

The cabin was perfect, clean, roomy and well equipped. We attended for the beer festival which we enjoyed but I do feel the staff were at times overwhelmed - selling beer cards, serving beer and selling BBQ tickets all from one small desk. The BBQ was very good value, and the beer was on form. Breakfast was very good and all the staff we dealt with were brilliant

Just back from a fantastic stay at this place, the website doesn't do it justice. The lodges are incredibly peaceful and feel very secluded with lovely views. The staff were friendly, welcoming and went over and above to help us enjoy a fab stay. We were kindly comped an upgrade to a hot tub lodge which was perfect heated in the evening but also enjoyable cold to cool down during the current heatwave. And the rooms have air conditioning too. We'll be back!

We really enjoyed our stay here for 2 nights. The cabin was lovely, clean and modern. We had our dog with us and they provided a dog bed and water bowl which is a great touch. The cabin was really warm and cozy and the staff were very helpful and friendly. It’s such a lovely location.

Nestled in the charming village of Hitchin, The Cricketers is a delightful 16th-century inn that perfectly blends history with modern comforts. This welcoming pub not only offers refined accommodations but also embraces furry friends, allowing dogs to join you in both the restaurant and bar areas. After a refreshing walk in the nearby nature reserve, your pup can enjoy their own treats while you indulge in one of their renowned thin-based stone-baked pizzas—each playfully named after cricket terms.
The Cricketers has the claim to previously owned by Jamie Oliver's parents for over 40 years and now owned by Chestnut group. We were staying as part of a group booking for a wedding party so were all allocated different rooms which seemed to be of different standards. Ours was quite small and somewhat noisy due to proximity to the road..we found out when awakened by the occasional car in the middle of the night. We had a group dinner which was a good standard and staff were efficient. It would be useful to have do not disturb signs for the rooms as we returned from breakfast at 9am to find cleaners in our room already which was inconvenient for us.

Restaurant Review Only. Lovely setting with great ambience and really solid service - warm, attentive, not overbearing. They had a beer & cider festival with tents and local booze to test, and a live singer which was fun. Had a Sunday Road which was decent overall (a solid 4), but just missed the mark in places. Roast veg felt like an afterthought (like sliced leeks and just a bit boring), potatoes dry inside, and the Eton mess was light on fruit, but the food was tasty- otherwise it’d have been a 5. Would come back for sure (vs The Angel in Stoke-on-Nayland is in the same group, and their food was equal to this but more expensive).

Restaurant review only: went Sunday 12th at 2pm, sat down at 1.45pm and finally got mains 3 x roast and fish and chips at 3.15pm, the answer for the delay was because one of our group had a cold starter and that put us back 30 mins!!!???? The roast potatoes were tasteless , the beef wafer thin , the haddock was nice as were the 10 chips I got. Wasn't asked once how the meal was by either staff or the Manager, waitress did apologise for the delay but the restaurant wasn't overly busy. Mens toilets smelt of urine and floor sticky The table next to us had a ladbrador dog sat up on the cushioned bench next to them!!! Im a dog owner but don't agree with this. Not impressed , wouldn't visit again ... go elsewhere would be my advice

Restaurant review only: We were very disappointed with our recent visit, after an excellent meal a year ago. The menu is extremely pared down with no interesting dishes. For having a limited menu, they did not execute the dishes well; salads didn't have dressing mixed through, plate presentation was lacklustre and some dishes were quite oily. We chose the half-pint prawns as a starter and were not expecting to be served unshelled prawns. No finger bowl was provided to wash our fingers; it was brought as an after thought when we had already gone to the bathroom to use the sink. The affogato for dessert was a travesty for the price, and the Eton Mess contained little fruit and loads of over-sweet whipped cream - hardly a light summery dessert.

13 June 2025 - stayed overnight in one of their super king accommodations that overlooks the most stunning countryside. Its location is perfection for a night away from London. We were at an event at nearby Quendon Hall and local taxi companies were super friendly and reliable (recommended by the staff at The Cricketers). Our group had 5 separate rooms and they were all decorated to perfection and the beds were super comfortable. Breakfast the following morning was delicious and a great start to the day. Would absolutely visit again!

We booked here on a recommendation and we both not disappointed. The staff here are amazing, friendly and very attentive. We were shown to our room a short walk from the pub and it was not a disappointment, it was like a suite. To say we were very impressed would be an understatement. We popped back for a couple of drinks before dinner in the restaurant and was pleasantly suprised that thwy serve Hawkstone larger and cider, which I must say went down very well. The service in the restaurant was superb and we were made to feel very welcome and the food was very nice. Highly recommend the Scotch egg, the Wild rabbit croquettes for starters and the Chicken and leek pie and the house steak are very nice. In the morning the selection of continental breakfasts and cooked breakfast are excellent. All in all we had a wonderful evening at the Cricketers and would not hesitate to stay there again.

Very nice food, however, be really careful eating here if you have food allergies. I visited today and made my allergies clear on arrival, and was told this was no problem. On ordering, again, I reminded the staff about my allergy, asked them to check with the kitchen then let me know if there were any problems with that dish, and I would choose something else. The starter came out and was delicious. However, when my main was given to me (Harissa cauliflower steak with couscous) I checked under the sauce to see what was mixed into the couscous, and thank goodness I did. I noticed various small slices in the couscous, and decided to check with the staff before eating, as I am severely allergic to all nuts and wanted to make sure it was sliced garlic and not sliced almonds. To my horror, the chef came running out, as they’d managed to give me a dish containing nuts (sliced almonds). They apologised and immediately replaced my dish with a fish and chips, which was delicious, and removed my food from the bill. Thank goodness I checked, otherwise I would have been writing this from A&E! Be really careful if you have an allergy, but the food was delicious.

Went to this place last night. Whilst the staff were friendly and decent and the vibe was good with a 'The Beertles' event on, the food was quite frankly appalling for the price. Between four of us, we had cold sauces, undercooked chips ans potatoes, overcooked meat and then worst of all, Sausages that were still red/pink and not cooked in the middle. We were in fairness offered a discount for the food, but for a meal that would have been nearly £200 for four of us, this place was definately underwhelming and somewhere I wouldn't reccomend unless there are some changes. We noticed the table next to us also refused a plate of food and sent some bits back too.......so although the drinks were ok, i certainly wouldn't reccomend this place for its food.

The Henny Swan, situated on Henny Road in Great Henny near Sudbury, is a family-friendly establishment known for its French-inspired cuisine. The pub offers a charming and stylish atmosphere both indoors and in their beer garden. The outdoor terrace boasts an enchanting view of meadows and scenic landscapes that have been immortalized by renowned artists such as Gainsborough and Constable.
We booked in advance and received a warm welcome. Menu has a great variety for all diets. Dishes were tasty and beautifully presented. Really enjoyed our meal and the relaxing environment. I understand this is a popular spot in the summer as it is on the river.

Excellent service, food and drink. So lovely to paddle up and stop by a table; even order by QR code at your table. Bar staff were superb and consistent to customer needs. Dog friendly too, which is always a win.

This is a perfect place to enjoy a cold drink and a snack seated outside overlooking the river or inside the pub as we did. I had the fish and chips which was served with warm tartare sauce. I can forgive that because the batter on the cod was delicious. My family had the Mexican chicken burger, served with skinny fries, a dollop of guacamole and lots of jalapeños, and one had sirloin steak with chips and pepper sauce. All in all a good meal.

We visited The Henny Swan for a drink stop on an evening drive out. The staff were so friendly and the location was perfect, we sat in the garden overlooking the river for our first drink and then had our second drink inside where we sat in a very chilled atmosphere whilst playing connect four provided on every table through the bar area. Will be visiting again to try the food soon.

Stopped by today after an afternoon out, very disappointed with portion size and price of this Ploughman's platter £12... Guy serving food said that's how we serve it.. Half ham slice, 6 picked onions, 2 off cut bread, 2 cheese slices, handful of salad leaves.. Didn't offer anything more or refund?? First and last time visiting this place,

Lovely food, menu and service. We went into restaurant and the atmosphere was lovely but a very potent fragrance absolutely hit us when we walked in, which we assumed was candles or a plug in. It really did take your breathe away & our whole group commented on it amongst ourselves. I did ask a waitress what it was and apparently it was a polish used on the tables. The waitress was aware it was quite strong. So I'd think twice about returning unless I sat outside only due to that fragrance unfortunately. Everything else was great.

Pub
St Andrews Brew House is a charming pub in Norwich that offers a unique experience of watching beer being brewed on the premises. The micro-brewery on the first floor allows visitors to witness the brewing process while enjoying board games and a relaxing atmosphere. The ground floor features a bar and restaurant where guests can savor comforting meals and quality beers with friends. Housed in a beautiful Grade II-listed building, the interior boasts an industrial-style decor that complements the visible brewhouse.
I gazed longingly at @standrewsbrewhouse one Saturday in September when I was a guest at a wedding at St Andrews church across the road. Unfortunately the wedding reception wasn't in the brew house so on that occasion I was denied a pint. However, I resolved to visit upon my return to Norwich. And opportunity presented itself when a job I was doing in Great Yarmouth finished a little earlier than expected. I got myself a train ticket and headed over to St Andrews Brew House to sample their home brewed beers. Seeing that they had a NEIPA on offer I jumped at the chance and was rewarded by fresh apricot aromas and muted grass and pepper notes and ever such a tiny hint of bitterness at the end, reminiscent of blood orange. This was 'Pacifica' - a beer well worth drinking. However, if that wouldn't have been your bag, there were so many other options from the great and good of UK beer as well as plenty of other St Andrews options. As you can see, the decor is on point and there are plenty of cosy books and spaces for different sized groups to get together and chill out. I didn't get a decent photo but as with any good taproom the brewing equipment was on show and part of the experience. I must advise that if you have a train to catch not to tarry too long - I was saved by my train being delayed! #taproom #uktaproom #norfolkbeer #brewerytap #brewerytaproom #craftbeer #realale #ukbeer #ukcraftbeer

We had our wedding meal here and it was perfect. We hired the tank room and the locker room with the bar upstairs. Our guests ordered from the normal menu- everyone loved their food and all meals came hot which was great when cooking for just over 30 people. They were great accommodating different dietary requirements. Laura was fantastic and made sure everything went smoothly. The table was laid out beautifully and everyone had a great time. Could not have asked for a better venue for our wedding as it was perfect. Would recommend to anyone thinking of booking an event here.

Stopped over for lunch for dressing crab, pork belly and burgers. After making the payment, we were told all items we ordered were sold out. Refunded but actual refund amount was less than the amount paid due to bank commission. Wish we were told before we order. We had our wedding reception at St Andrews Brewhouse and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, answering all our questions in the lead up to the day and exceeding our expectations on the day itself. The food was outstanding – the chicken supreme was honestly the best dish I’ve ever eaten. We’ve been coming here for nearly 10 years and the food has always been consistently amazing. The venue is perfect for a small wedding and worked out as fantastic value for money. I couldn’t recommend St Andrews Brewhouse highly enough.

We held our wedding reception in the upstairs of St Andrew’s Brewhouse and I couldn’t recommend them more! Lou and the team were so accommodating, no request felt like too much. Held a private birthday party upstairs at The Brew House for around 50 people. The room(s) up there are perfect for this size party - in fact we could have fitted a few more - with seating for everyone and plenty of room for some dancing. There's a separate bar upstairs so you don't need to keep traipsing downstairs to get your drinks and the two staff members running the bar were really engaged with our guests' needs and were absolutely fantastic. All the ratings I've given are based on the fact that this was a private event eg. the noise level has taken into account that we had a DJ playing music at our event.

Sadly I have to put this review... for the first time eating out I've found a poor quality meal.. The Brewhouse smash burger... at £17.50 I would expect size and quantity.. unfortunately it was smaller that a McDonald's burger and absolutely tasteless.. with just a few chips on the plate.. . No girkin or salad .. nothing else to put except, please don't order..

Bakery
Pump Street Bakery, nestled in the charming coastal village of Orford, is a must-visit destination on The Suffolk Coast. This renowned bakery takes pride in its exceptional bread and handcrafted pastries, all freshly made daily within the village. Visitors can savor these delectable treats in the cozy cafe, where they are also treated to locally sourced seasonal fare and top-quality artisanal tea and coffee.
Stumbled across this little bakery on the way to the castle, it is an absolute local gem. We arrived as doors opened at 10am which was needed as there was a queue of people! We bought an assortment of pastries, bear claw, rhubarb donut, custard donut, pain au chocolate, ham and cheese croissant, chocolate chip cookie and a large white sourdough loaf. Along with both the 70 and 80% hot chocolate and a flat white, the drinks came with little gingerbread stars. There were so many wonderful options and they were all high quality. The donuts had a good jam to dough ratio and weren’t oily, the croissants were flakey and buttery and the chocolate was high quality. There is a small area to sit inside along with a few tables and benches outside. The set up allows for you to see the baked goods before you reach the till. If you order a drink the barista section is in the second room which helps not to block the queue. If you are eating in the bring the drink to your table and if you are taking away you wait outside for your drink and they pass it through the window (which I personally thought was very charming, and helpful for people with multiple dogs). They also have their own chocolate brand, some minis are available to buy here, if you would like to try more their chocolate shop if across the road. The man serving here was very knowledgeable and told us a little bit of the background of the shop and details of each other chocolates we picked.

Hidden gem. Visited on a wonderfully sunny day. So much choice had a hard time choosing just one thing. The softest cinnamon bun I’ve ever had. Would come back to Orford just for this.

Overpriced and a cold experience. On a Sunday outing we came to Orford and dined in at the Pump Street Bakery. We ordered two vegetable tarts and a hot chocolate. The man serving us mentioned about their homemade marshmallows to have with the hot chocolate. While I was asking my wife if we'd have them with it, he said "you're having one, they're really good" and proceeded to make up the bill and charge for the marshmallow. The bill was really expensive especially for two tarts which came cold and a rather mediocre hot chocolate. You don't get value for money, we found it to be pretentious. You pay extra to dine in but you might as well have been outside as the windows and doors were open in the small seating area on a cold day. Overall not a great experience and we won't be going back there.

We just loved this place, and had dinner there twice during our trip to the Suffolk coast. Perfect on a chilly evening, with a roaring fire and a wonderfully warm welcome. Excellent negroni and a well-curated wine list. The food was very good, particularly the venison casserole, beetroot salad, pea and ham soup and sausages. Super dog friendly too. Thank you so much for your hospitality on Friday as we stopped by for lunch. You catered to our needs impeccably, we fancied "a picky bits" lunch and that's exactly what was delivered, with a huge warm welcome, and eagerness to chat about the history of your beautiful pub. The food was absolutely perfect in every way, even down to the side salad garnish that was amazingly fresh and not just a couple of lettuce leaves thrown on a plate. As a huge foodie myself, it was a real treat to find somewhere with a fabulous ambience, beautifully prepared and presented locally sourced food and no pretentiousness or grandour! It felt like more effort was put into the Christmas decorations than the food, unfortunately. The best bit was the Broccoli and Stilton soup 😘 The atmosphere didn't match the festivity that was decked all around. I do have to add that my husband enjoyed his meal, so maybe it was my choices 🤷‍♀️

We visited in early October for lunch. It was very quiet out of season, the service was very good and we didn't have to wait long for our food. The Sunday roast was a solid effort overall. The pork was cooked well, and the Yorkshire puds were properly crisp and fluffy. Roast potatoes were decent, though could’ve been crispier (just personal preference), and the veg was fine. At £25, it feels a bit on the pricey side, but they do try to use Suffolk produce and keep things seasonal, which is appreciated. The portion was generous and the atmosphere was relaxed, perfect for a Sunday. There is a bit of a wait with the carvery, but it is to be expected when full.

A fantastic countryside gem of a pub geared for early-doors and food. A good selection of beers - it's a Greene King pub, but the food is incredible. I had the Beef Lasagne on the first night which, at only £15, was enough for two and was frankly the best Lasagne I've ever had. The following night was a simple burger, but I couldn't finish it as there was far too much. So a 10/10 for value and flavour. Please do check the opening times in advance and if you're arriving on a whim, you may need to wait a while for food, so booking in advance is definitely worth it. Spectacular setting with a large garden to the rear for the kids to run around in, lots of seating out front too.

A small busy pub with a nice vibe to the place. Also had a good selection of ales which seem to be kept very well. We also stayed for a meal. This was mixed bag. Let’s start with the good. The special they had on was very tasty slow cooked beef blade and the slow cooked pork belly was melt in the mouth. Unfortunately the steak was real disappointment. We Asked for medium but it came very well done and was chewy. Just a bad steak. The fish stew was nice but came out almost cold.

Lovely pub with lots of charm! Friendly staff and delicious food. We’ve been for pizza a few times which I highly recommend. The only thing I would change is that I’d love to get some small plates with the pizzas, especially when we’re sharing them as a group. The small napkins don’t really work. Already looking forward to my next visit :-)

Lovely summers evening when we arrived. It was a Friday.. we didn't actually go into the pub. Used the garden. Had a lovely freshly made Pizza. Highly recommend 👌

Cracking pub on the edge of Framlingham, great beer & outstanding unfussy, well cooked food in lovely surroundings. Beth & Juliette are outstanding front of house staff & a credit to one of the best pubs in England.

Such a lovely pub but the food has really gone downhill in recent months. Used to be the best place to eat in Fram but not anymore. Tasteless curry with hardly any meat in, lukewarm soup and burrito. Won't be coming back in a hurry. Such a shame.

EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE! Delicious food, big variety of cocktails. We went for drinks and lunch, the customer service was excellent. The two waiters were very helpful, kind, funny, and created a warm environment. The cocktails were very tasty. The food was so delicious. We got a burger for each of us, the pork bellies and we definitely recommend the camembert with the focaccia! Prices pretty decent

We went there on a Sunday, 2 for £12 cocktails. Cocktails were great, well made and quick. Very nice quirky bar, nice music with a very relaxing atmosphere. We didn’t eat but the food menu looked super. We will definitely return

Visited here for our anniversary on a Wednesday evening as we wanted to take advantage of the 50% off food offer on Wednesdays. There was an extensive huge alcohol menu, however soft drink menu was more limited (and I had to ask for a soft drinks menu to be given) and I was a bit disappointed to find they didn't do J2o's. We ordered 2 cokes, however they seemed a bit watered down. We would have liked to have tried the cherry bakewell mocktail, but I was put off by the fact it said it contains egg white (which can be dangerous) I had previously queried this on Facebook with them prior to visiting and was told that it DIDN'T contain egg white. When I sent them a screenshot of the menu and asked them to clarify, they never replied so I was left in limbo... I checked the menu again when I got there in case the drink had been changed to what was showing on the online menu, but it was exactly the same, several of the mocktails and cocktails contain egg white. Very confusing to be told it didn't contain it and it wasn't very nice to have my message ignored but never mind... Food wise we decided to order a selection of the sharing plates and everything was great taste wise. The chicken wings were amazing, we had the bacon jam ones and the jack daniels & coke ones and both of these were very good quality and had fantastic flavours! I would definitely recommend those! The popcorn chicken was also very good, it seemed like it was cooked in their own southern fried batter which made it better than the frozen type you get in some restaurants, however it wasn't very warm which was a bit of a let down unfortunately.... The crispy chilli beef was very nice but again not very warm. The potato bravas was lovely and not too spicy. The home made coleslaw was excellent, definitely one of the best ones I have had. Portion wise everything was great value for being half price, however I would say the crispy chilli beef, popcorn chicken and potato bravas would feel a bit overpriced at full price (between £7.50 - £8.50 each) The chicken wings and coleslaw I feel are worth the full price (£8.50 for the wings and £3.50 for the coleslaw) Full price the 6 food items would have been £44.50 but half price this was £22.25 which feels a lot more reasonable. Although we did enjoy the taste and flavours of the food, the biggest let down was the service. 3 of our food dishes arrived quite quickly after ordering (within 10 mins) but then we were left without any other dishes for another 10 minutes.... Nothing was said to us in this time, no apology or explanation... Finally after 10 minutes had passed from being given the first 3 dishes, 2 more of our dishes arrived. However, we were still missing another one, and we did not know if this had been forgotten or not. Loads of other people in the restaurant were being served their sharing plate dishes all together, whilst we were just left.... I was about to ask one of the waitresses where our other dish had got to when she came over to ask if we had got everything and was everything okay. I explained we were missing one of our chicken wings portions. She apologised and said she would look into it. These then came out approximately another 10 minutes later, so it seems that this was completely missed... With all the food coming out at random times with such big gaps in between this made the whole meal feel so disjointed and unfortunately effected our enjoyment... I would much rather they didn't rush to bring out those first 3 dishes so quickly, and instead waited until everything was ready so it could be brought out together. Based on our experience I feel that it would have been good business for them to have offered us another dish free of charge as an apology/goodwill gesture, but they didn't and this has left me feeling a bit disappointed. I would like to go back as I do think the food was very good, but I just hope the service next time would be a bit better.

To be fair, we did come at opening time on a Friday, so aside from another couple, we were the only ones there. Decor looked interesting. But the cocktails were too sweet for us -- more juice than cocktail.

Just have to say a big LOL to the review before this about egg white in drinks. Ffs 🤦🏻‍♀️ egg white has been a staple in classic cocktails for years and years. Anyway this place is amazing! The food and service is top notch and Wednesday deal is 10/10.

The Gate: Kitchen, Bar, Terrace is a versatile dining spot located at the gates of Richmond Park and in other locations across London. It offers classic British dishes in a formal dining room setting as well as modern Pan Asian cuisine in a trendy Notting Hill location. The restaurant also celebrates the region's people, provenance, and personality with its range of beers, wine list, and gin collection.
We reserved a large space this weekend for a reunion and the hotel was so fantastic and accommodating. They even had a wet weather contingency for us. The food was excellent and hot, the drinks menu had a wide range to choose from and we were regularly attended to. There are changing facilities available for little ones but unfortunately in the women’s toilets so dads couldn’t help out. We will undoubtedly be back for lunch or dinner again when we are up the hill!

I ate here 2 times and it was very very nice. Great quality food, cooked very well. Breakfast was great and evening meal too was lovely. Lost 1 star, only due to the waiter who kept forgetting things for example a side order of fries and the price. The breakfast was quite expensive. Overall I’d certainly come back and eat here, but I’d need to get saving up !!

The atmosphere is still lovely, but unfortunately, the food quality has gone downhill. It used to be great, but something has definitely changed since the beginning of the year. The meat dishes no longer taste fresh, and the overall quality just isn’t what it used to be. Service has also been disappointing the staff often seem unhappy or unwelcoming, even when you’re being friendly and polite. It’s a shame, because this place had so much potential.

My friend and I had a wonderful time here for dinner and a few cocktails, we would recommend the pornstar martini or a margarita! The service from both Ciaran and Virenti was amazing credit to them for making our evening extra special!

We came as we were staying at the hotel. The food was tasty and the set menu wasn't bad value, cocktails were also nice, the red wine we picked was over priced for the quality we felt. Issues here are the lighting / vibe just aren't great cause the spotlights are too strong and it's not busy. Main issue is once it gets past 10pm (even though the bar area is open till 12) the staff all seemed to stop coming to tables and really only focus on cleaning up and setting up for the morning. We were sat finishing our wine and they were sweeping and moving rubbish around which wasn't great. We asked (as they were cleaning) should we move to the bar to be out of the way or should we leave and they said stay and have another drink but then no one came to take that order for a long time or make the drinks or eventually do the bill... Just a bit meh.

We popped in for a late brunch. Service was excellent and friendly. No issues with then giving us a table without a reservation unlike the hotel next door. We sat outside in quite a lovely garden with nice comfortable furniture. Everything felt very clean and new. Food was quite good but not excellent. We only had brunch items with a couple of sides. If I had to complain about anything is that the toast under the avo and poached eggs was so tiny they tried to hide the fact with kale. The drinks menu was extensive and not overly priced considering the area. Sadly we didn't have time for drinks but will definitely have some next time.
Mirko M — Google review
I would never normally write a review like that his but this restaurant was so badly managed and poor value for money, it's only fair to warn other people. Unfortunately the menu was extremely expensive and the food mostly very mediocre, especially for the price. Both nights when we went for dinner we waited over an hour for food. We frequently orderered another drink and would have to ask again half an hour later as they would be clearly rorgotten. Once we had to re-ask for a glass of wine three times over an hour. This happened almost with every order we made. It was obviously not the fault of the waiting team - they were very nice and clearly doing their best, it seemed like something was going wrong on the kitchen/management side. On the Sunday we waited over an hour and a half for a roast dinner, then when it arrived, it was cold, the food was stale and even had missing items on it. It was honestly the worst roast dinner I've ever had. The one thing that they did very well was that one of our party is a celicac and they were very concientious of that which is why we went to the restaurant twice. Clearly this restaurant used to be very good but something is going on with the kitchen and poor leadership as the staff seemed to be doing their best.
Leif S — Google review
We were checked into the hotel so conveniently they have the restaurant. The place looks nice, open kitchen and bar. We were in for sunday dinner, they offer 2 or 3 set menu under £32 per person which is a bargain. Unfortunately you get what you paid for… bisto gravy, watery cauliflower cheese, soggy fish and chips. On top of this the service was annoying slow and no attention to detail. How many times they rang for service in the kitchen and FOH has no sense of urgency. Supervisor/manager took our order without jotting them down and surprise surprise had to come back to ask 3 times to double check what we ordered. Our starters came and the bread we ordered didnt arrive until we asked for it. Our mains came while we were still having our starters so obviously we sent it back. And when we were finally ready for mains it took almost an hour. Three tables who came after us got their mains before us! And again, no signs of the side salad we ordered. At this point we were so done and asked for our desserts in a hurry. Cheese selection plate? Cheeses seemed like they’ve been cut from days ago. Furthermore the supervisor was also embarrasingly telling one of his staff off on her second day infront of customers while he couldnt even do his job properly. This is such a shame because the hotel is beautiful and would even be more of an experience is to offer great food and service. We didn’t mention our annoyance but it was clear it was becoming a joke. They had offered to have our drinks on the house and I think it’s because they knew service was awful.

Stayed with friends for 3 nights- we had an absolutely fantastic time here! Ellie was so helpful booking a pitch to suit our group, and we got all the information through well ahead of our stay. What a great place to spend a few days. The campsite was great, basic facilities but even with a busy campsite never seemed stretched. The beer selection was awesome, even if you don't like sours there is definitely something for everyone, I overheard a Fosters drinkers loving the craft lager, praise indeed. All the locally sourced food was brilliant.

The pub on site was wonderful, selection of amazing beers/ciders and cold food platters, they have hot food trucks on a weekend. Would recommend thoroughly. We will definitely go back.

This is one of my favourite places meet lots of interesting people everytime I go. The staff are what make this communial watering hole very special and friendly. Every time I've been, there's a top quality food van ranging from Wagu Burger to Mussels and Frites. Make sure you get there early. They sell out pretty quickly, so maybe call ahead. 80 percent of their Ciders, IPA's, and other drinks I've never seen or heard of but they're always very very nice. The place is always clean even when their busy. Oli, Abbie, Elliot and Jasmine are the cogs that keep that place moving so smoothly, especially when it gets busy. Really friendly and professional. They would be an asset to any team. There's also glamping and caravan spots at the rear of the car park. * showers and toilets * water * campfires allowed It's really good. Definitely recommended.

They were very busy on a Tuesday night in September. Fully booked but said if we didn’t mind we could sit on a low table in the bar area. The food was amazing and every single member of staff was really polite and friendly. Would definitely go out of our way to return.

A beer lovers paradise. Czech style dark lager, sour beers and many more beers of every kind brewed on site. It doesn't get better than this. Good atmosphere. Good food and a great campsite. The surrounding area is lovely. There's a park across the road to walk the dog and loads of public rights of way too.

Ashley P — Google review
Sunday morning breakfast has a lot of competition in the norwich area, so when William Florence was suggested I was really pleased to try someplace new (for me). I hadn't been in since it had changed names and owners. The first thing that greets you is the friendly, warm and kind service. it's one of those places where I got a genuine feeling of affection from the staff. this isn't just professional- it's just what they do! We ordered two hot chocolates (I was with the kids) and a mocha with oats milk (this is a recent change for me- try it- you'll never go back to milk) hands down this was amongst the top 3 best hot chocolates I've tasted in norwich and the top 5 best mochas' I've had in the same vicinity. They were both well mixed without an ounce of powderyness, served in a homely mug, with a rich- luxuriant mouth coating viscosity that just makes you go "aaaah". it's just great to be in a place that gets the simple things right. With this success we ordered the foods. I ordered the full english, we also had eggs benedict with salmon, the pancakes with yogurt and fruit and the French toast with blackcurrant compote. All of which you can see pictures of below. My full English was well prepared and arrived first- the plate reassuringly hot- nicely cooked eggs and crispy bacon. I object to the thimble sized baked bean receptacle- why the cheapest ingredient have to be in the least quantity I'll never understand. The bread was an average sourdough that felt a bit lacking, as was the sausage. the clear winner on the plate was the black pudding. it was just the right amount of spice, and cooked to a crispyness that was delightful. The eggs benedict were on smallish pieces of bread- but the eggs were perfectly cooked. although a smaller looking portion is hit all the taste buttons. It does (I'm sure you'll agree) look a little lonely on the plate. the real disappointment was the French toast. The toast was a little soapy in texture and a touch too dark for my liking. it's lack of sweetness or even delicate saltiness (they could have taken it into either direction) was exacerbated by the splurge of compote that had been ejaculated across the serving. This watery sea of tartness not only looked off-putting but was also a really strong flavour (see the picture) if you order this tell them you want the compote on the side! however if you are really into your French toast, go to Amelias in town- then again their chef is French... moving on to the pancakes, this was a wonderful mix of wet, fruity and American type pancakes. we had a discussion on the table as to whether they were store bought or made in the kitchen. I didn't ask, and the table remained firmly divided as to the answer. The pancakes were the best value, in terms of quantity to cost ratio. Slightly too many for the plate (which is exactly how you want pancakes served) Williams and Florence have a simple pub decor wich is clean and wholesome. however sitting near on of the large windows meant that we heated up quite a bit during the meal. Mostly becuase of the UV light that was bounching off the the warm comfyn furniture. I wish they would have turned on the AC or opened a window- but other than this it was very pleasant and the service was a high high standard throughout the meal. Would I go back? I would- but perhaps not for breakfast. I'd definitely give the lunch menu a try and then have one of their luxurious Mochas.

2 nd disappointing visit for a new 'local' resident. 1. A Saturday afternoon, girl serving far too interested in her group of friends sitting/standing at the bar, drinking not being served. Did not feel she wanted my custom. 2. Sunday afternoon, noone behind bar, manager taking bill from table, no problem. When he tried to serve me the 'waitress' gave him the phone and he then apparently took a phone reservation, no apologies to me - waited a couple of minutes and left, no sign of the second person 'serving'. Went up the road and got immediate service at another pub. Lesson - sort you customer service.

The location is the best thing about W&F. Ideal for people watching and a sunny outside drink with friends. What has always been disappointing for me in the many years I've come here, is the food. Breakfasts are usually ok, but the main menu is expensive, average, and inconsistent in presentation and preparation. My Caesar salad was just smothered in mayo, no actual Caesar sauce. My husbands smashed burger was disappointing. If they were 'smashed' they must have been tiny to start with! And the bun was so soggy it fell apart. My friends grilled peach & tomato salad was gross - no flavour, and the texture was unpleasant. Overall, very poor food for the price. Please, please overhaul your menu and 'chefs'!
Edwina J — Google review
I’ve been to this pub before once or twice and never left a review so I am now after this evening’s visit - I’ll try to keep it brief but I won’t make any promises. My memory of this pub before tonight can be summed up as ‘nothing special’; it’s an alright pub with some okay food. Today was a bit more mediocre. The service was quite slow, but the waiters were all very nice. The food took over half an hour to arrive (understandable for a busy pub only a mile away from a university but is longer than you’d expect to wait for a small bowl of halloumi fries) and the quality was inconsistent. The burger I had was one of the most spectacular creations I have ever eaten, I can’t believe how delicious just the cheese was. The starters were alright, the mains my family ordered were good, the desserts were disappointing. This may have been an unfortunate mistake but the tiramisu we ordered tasted like the cream/mascarpone had gone off - maybe the tiramisu is usually good and this was a bad batch - so it was supplemented with a free brownie (I didn’t eat it because I was full at that point but my sister and dad said it was good). If you don’t like salted caramel ice cream, try it from this pub because it’s so good it will change your mind. The cranberry juice I ordered was pale and diluted which was disappointing. So, the food and service were average but the atmosphere is what discoloured my evening (NOTE: this was due to a different customer and I do not blame the pub for this at all). A very pretty pub on the inside and out and the music is quiet enough to recognise songs you like but engage in conversation, but there was a seemingly drunk American near our table who was talking so loudly I promise you would’ve heard him from the street. Sullied the atmosphere with his slurring discussions on real estate, being friends with his siblings, and something to do with feet. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this pub for a ‘Top 100 Pubs in Norwich’ list , but I wouldn’t dissuade anyone from going there. Didn’t use the facilities tonight but from memory the toilets are nice.

Nestled in the picturesque hills of Constable country, The Angel Inn is a charming 16th-century pub with a cozy country-chic vibe. This traditional Suffolk coaching inn boasts original features like open fires, oak beams, and brickwork. The on-site restaurant helmed by acclaimed chefs offers Mediterranean-influenced dishes using local produce. With individually designed rooms and a relaxed atmosphere, it's an ideal retreat for those seeking a taste of old-world charm and modern comforts.
We came at short notice for a night away. The Angel was far better than we were entitled to expect at the price we paid, and we loved the dining experience so much that we immediately arranged to stay for a second night! The 16th Century building has been tastefully and expensively refurbished and fully modernised, from the designer courtyard garden through the bar and restaurant to our air-conditioned room and one of the best hotel bathrooms we've seen anywhere. The dinner menu is now gastropub style (you can have fish and chips if you want it) but the quality is fine dining: quality ingredients, superbly balanced flavours and delicate side touches. Yet prices are no more than we would pay in good pubs. Staff were friendly, professional and well trained. We had what must be the perfect English breakfast. Nothing negative to say at all! Can't wait for our next visit.

Restaurant Review Only. I really wanted to give this place 5 stars—the setting, location, ambience, and service were all genuinely excellent. The vibe is relaxed but refined, and the staff were warm and attentive throughout. That said, the food didn’t quite match the standard set by everything else. It plated really well and beautifully but the sourdough felt a bit dry, the salad was overdressed, and while the croquettes were fine, the flavours didn’t stand out. The meat was well-cooked and the triple-cooked chips were a highlight - crisp, golden perfection. Drinks were also great. Overall, it’s a beautiful spot with a lot going for it, but the flavours didn’t quite live up to the setting or the price tag. Would come back for the atmosphere and hope the kitchen finds its rhythm.

What a fabulous hotel. We had two nights here for the August bank holiday weekend. The room was spotless and had everything we needed. The staff were so friendly and helpful and so welcoming when we arrived. The food on both evenings was delicious particularly the Gunnard fish which we both said is unusual to find in restaurants nowadays. We would recommend the Angel Inn to friends and family without any hesitation. Can’t wait for our second visit.

We spent a Sunday night here through a dinner, bed and breakfast deal. Lovely room, beautifully presented. Food on offer was from a 'deal" menu. Choice was extremely limited so we opted to add a supplement to have a decent meal. Food was nothing special and very expensive. I think the 'deal" would be better if there was credit given for dinner rather than the limited menu offered.

Stayed for one night DB&B. Superior Room only had a 5 foot bed and room is rather small but was lovely and clean. Room faced the road so was obviously noisy. Food was absolutely superb including all 3 dishes from the Set Menu…. Price is very good value. Beautiful Gardens to relax in before dinner whilst having a drink. Service was 1st Class from Dan, Benedict and the Lady that used to work across the road in The Crown…. Please forgive me for not remembering the Lady’s name. Definitely 100% worth a visit here for the set menu even if you don’t stay overnight !! WELL DONE 👍 TO ALL CONCERNED.

This place is a gem - I love it and always stay here when I am in the area visiting family! The rooms are renovated to a high standard and are quiet and very comfortable. The windows have black-out blinds/curtains which is essential in mid-summer when the Sun wakes up before 5am. Underfloor heating in the bathroom is a nice touch especially in the Winter. Air-conditioning is very welcome, especially given Climate Change, and has become essential in the UK in Summer. The only downside are the stairs servicing the upper floors (there are ground floor rooms) but the staff are happy to take luggage upstairs. The restaurant deserves better recognition - Lunch and Dinner: the menu is innovative and the food high quality. Breakfast good selection of continental and cooked breakfast including a stonkingly excellent Full English Breakfast. Restaurant staff: friendly, efficient and helpful. Ambiance: Comfortable English country pub style - a real fireplaces are wonderful in colder weather, The outside area is an oasis of calm and tranquility and a lovely setting for a drink or al fresco meal - in warmer weather. I did not see any outdoor heaters so cannot comments about the patio area in cooler weather The only downside is parking - there is limited parking, both off-street and on-street - no preference is given to hotel guests. The last time I stayed I arrived early evening and there was zero parking and I had to double-park. I was told that they were hosting a dinner for 25-people, which undoubtedly put pressure on the parking. On the plus side there is an EV charging station.

The service is exceptional but unfortunately the food last night was mediocre which is a shame as the first time we went there both the food and service where exceptional. Last night's food caspichio for starter tasted amazing but served in a jug to pour yourself on a dive little pile of chopped garlic and onion this is more than exceptable but no spoon. The claves liver to follow was very thin and over cooked so it had gone a bit dry, it was served on top of creamy mash potato which again is fine but the sauce should have been served in a jug because the mash had soaked in the sauce and tuned into more of a splat and all together was more a child's portion of food. Spring berries crumble and sticky toffee ice cream the ice cream was the star but only a small ball in a mass of berries and at one point thought I'd eaten some rhubarb (not a berry) and just a sprinkle of the crumble which wasn't really crumple it seemed to be more oaty, very disappointed. Note to the chef a crumple is a crumble this was a berry soup with a pinch of oats on the top

Last Pub Standing is a lively and vibrant pub located in Norwich, offering a relaxed environment with live music, outdoor seating, and a diverse menu featuring everything from tapas to burgers. Despite its name, it's not the last pub on the list but holds historical significance as the only pub that remained open during the decline caused by the 1904 Licensing Act and World War II. The pub features a fully covered garden with purpose-built seating and heaters for all-weather enjoyment.
Amazing burgers, not over done nor over filled. Very tasty & great service. Good mix of people and a nice atmosphere.

Have been in a few times over the last couple of months, mainly for music and a few beers. Large outdoor seating area where they held music/ bands. Ale selection is good, staff are friendly. Tried the food for the first time on Thursday, had burger and dirty fries. Service was quick and quality was very decent at a very reasonable price. All food was lovely and fresh. Noticed they also served several takeaways while we were there. Will definitely be taking advantage of this in the future when unable to get to the pub in person.

Lovely cocktails and great beer. And if you get a chance, definitely get the homemade pork scratchings -- they're to die for. Pretty quiet when we went on a Monday evening, but still a nice atmosphere, the staff were lovely. Could do with some board games though, maybe...

Lovely roast dinner! I had the vegan roast dinner and my partner had beef. The mushroom, courgette and spinach wellington was delicious, as were all the accompaniments. Followed by a very tasty berry crumble for dessert. Highly recommended!

Had a great Sunday roast here for £16 really tasty and good value. Staff were friendly and welcoming, and I have to give a special mention to the team member rocking the Suicidal Tendencies hat. Nice touch! Will definitely be back.

Straightforward reservation through the website. Nice interior and the garden area, plenty of room for everyone on the busy Saturday afternoon. Food is good value for the money and service is excellent, especially Sarah, who is so welcoming with her genuine smile! Garden area mostly shaded, we liked the music in the background but garden can get noisy with more people enjoying their time. Great atmosphere throughout, we'll definitely be back.

This pub has decent food and drink with good service, but the main attraction for me was the Monday night jazz night. Outstanding musicians in a cozy atmosphere provides for a lovely night out, but I recommend showing up a bit early to get a good spot, as decent viewing space is limited. A very nice landlord and beautiful barmaids also add to the charm of the pub, which offers various themed nights throughout the week/month. If I am ever in Norwich again, I would like to pay this spot another visit.

Judes Ferry is a charming traditional pub with a grill-restaurant, boasting a large riverside garden shaded by mature trees. Located on the picturesque banks of the River Lark, it's an ideal summer destination. The beautiful gardens extend to the water's edge, providing plenty of seating among lovely flowers. Recent changes in management have significantly elevated the dining experience, offering generous portions of freshly made dishes like burgers and lasagna.
This pub is great, right up my street. Let's start off by saying the pub and amenities are very rustic. So if your looking for fine dining this place is probably not for you. It has a lovely vibe, and a fantastic setting. the beer was cold and the food was tasty and a huge portion. I'm currently sitting nursing a food baby as I type There was live music which was nice and the place is super dog friendly. Service wasn't the quickest but nothing to complain about really, the staff were very friendly. They also had a bouncy castle for kids and a play area.

Stopped in for Sunday carvery one evening. Had a bit of wait to be seated, as they were taking drink orders but eventually we got there. Came in later in the day, so the meat wasn't as juicy. Good sides, a little more American than usual. But it was all very good, very generous and the gravy was delicious. My kids ordered kid burgers (with bacon) and they were huge, could have ordered one and split it amongst all of them!
L A — Google review
Judes Ferry is a fantastic place to go on a sunny afternoon for a pint down by the river. Unfortunately, the river and the beer is where the positives end. It always seems like you are being an inconvenience when ordering any food. The last time we ate in was a Friday night around 7pm and we were the only patrons in the entire bleak and empty pub. It was awkward and quiet. The outside is desperate for a refurbishment. You are likely to get splinters and tetanus when using the very old picnic benches or the children's playground. There seems to be someone living in a camper in the parking lot which also makes sitting outside rather awkward. There was an inflatable bouncy house outside, but no children. The noise detracts from the peaceful atmosphere of the river and birds. I'm not sure we will return. It could be a great local pub again, but it needs SO much more put into it in order to be enjoyable. Right now Judes Ferry just seems confused and mismanaged. It's such a shame because the location is amazing, but the atmosphere, food and furniture are grim.

Called in a couple of times whilst staying locally. Service was good and the food was very nice and at a good price. Sunday carvery was well worth the money with a good range of meats and a big selection of potatoes, vegetables and accompaniments also had a vegetarian option. There's a nice decking area with lovely views down the river for a quiet drink too. Well worth a visit.

Very lovely friendly staff, food was great, very well cooked, beef melted in my mouth. Nice location by the river. It is a little run down but does not distract from the food or the great service. We will definitely be back

Came here for a Sunday roast dinner today and it was just AMAZING. Couldn’t fault the roast what so ever. Everything was so nice, the meat was so tender and juicy. The best place around for a roast dinner. All cooked to perfection. The staff were all very polite and friendly couldn’t do enough for you. Great atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Sunday carvery was fantastic! Huge portions and vegetarian option available. Loved the cauliflower cheese it was really tasty. Nut roast was fantastic(either it was homemade or not I enjoyed it), my boyfriend said the meat was nice and in generous amount. The biggest plus is dogs allowed in restaurant. Beer on a beer garden by the river has always been pleasant. And little walk by the river is handy for us with dogs😉

Visited here for a drink while waiting for a train and the inside bar is a really nice space - nicely decorated with a wide range of reasonably priced drinks. There’s a few tables outside which are good in the sun although the space isn’t much to write home about. The bathrooms are the real disappointment - downstairs and literally falling apart, they really let the rest of the place down. If you’re only wanting a drink though it’s decent enough.

We stopped by here for a few drinks on our way through Grantchester and were so impressed with the gorgeous setting, great selection of drinks and in particular the excellent staff! Although we didn't have time to stay for food, the menu looked so good that we made a point of coming back two days later for a Sunday roast, which were cooked to perfection and hands down the best Sunday roasts we've had in a long time (the veggie wellington especially). Forget stiff tablecloths. Gonzo’s in Norwich is pure, unadulterated cool. It’s got that effortlessly funky, late-night energy—the kind of place where the music is as good as the food, and the atmosphere just works. Seriously, the vibe is a 10/10, If you go, you must order the BBQ Trays. This is low-and-slow done right. Think smoke-ring perfection, meat that surrenders with a whisper, and a sauce that actually tastes like it was made with love, not bottled in a factory. It’s generous, messy (in the best way), and totally satisfying. This isn't just a meal; it’s an experience in American smokehouse excellence. And finally, the mega service. Attentive, genuinely friendly, and clearly passionate about what they’re doing. Our drinks were always topped up, the recommendations were spot-on, and everything felt smooth, despite how busy they are. Gonzo's isn't just serving great BBQ; they're serving a great time. Killer food, next-level service, and a vibe that makes you want to stay all night. Get the tray. Stay for the party. Best birthday meal ever.

We’ve had many excellent meals at Gonzos but yesterday was the first time going with our 4 month old baby. The staff were so lovely - interacting with our little girl, turning the music down slightly for her and putting something on the projector for her to look at. There was room for our pram which we can sometimes struggle to find in other restaurants. The food was absolutely delicious as always - we would highly recommend the Maple & Bacon Fries 😍 we had a fab experience and will definitely return!

A quintessential little Inn even for food and drinks, and dog friendly! The food was delicious we had a light lunch menu with a drink. Service was incredible, range of food and drinks was fantastic - my Husband really enjoyed the mussels and my posh fish finger sandwich with fries was delicious. Great wine and drinks menu, with local options. There’s a cosy back room, a snug which is also perfect for quieter space with dogs, and seats near the fire in the entrance. The outdoor space has cosy heaters and a bar outside for ease of drinks. It’s almost ‘The Holiday’ pub vibes by the coast.

Dog friendly and plenty of parking in a beautiful area of North Norfolk. Highly recommend.

My partner and I stayed here last month with my rescue dog. We had such a lovely stay! Before arrival, Kate called me to confirm the booking and to ask if we had any special requirements. I explained that I had recently adopted a dog from Spain that is extremely anxious, and asked if it would be possible to be seated in a quiet area in the restaurant. Kate not only ensured this, but also notified every single member of staff, who were all so kind and considerate towards my dog. They all went out of their way to accommodate her, and make her stay as stress-free as possible, for which I am exceedingly grateful! They looked after us humans extremely well too! The room was fantastic! We stayed in the Best Room, which was spacious, comfortable and relaxing. The food in the restaurant both for breakfast and dinner was delicious and the service was outstanding. Everybody was very friendly and helpful, and nothing was too much trouble. We highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay again.

Just amazing! We initially only came here for a quick bite to eat and to find somewhere to camp. However, the staff and the place was so lovely, that we decided to stay. They are the most dog friendly place we have been to as well! The dogs got sausages (in dog bowls!) for dinner and for breakfast. They got a dog basket in the room + poo bags and treats! They were absolutely spoilt. The team that runs this place were the loveliest people. We will absolutely come back!

We love the Lifeboat and have just returned from another lovely stay. Special mention in particular to Deborah who waited almost alone at breakfast and always with a smile and to Errol and Nathan who speedily rectified a kitchen error and gave us a free dessert each for the error which was massively appreciated. Although young in years Errol and Nathan were very engaging and friendly. It seemed that there was a shortage of staff at times but this didn’t detract from our bar and restaurant experience. The room we stayed in was well appointed and with a lovely view out to the sea. A great location for a relaxing break.
Lee W — Google review
We were quite disappointed with our visit to The Lifeboat Inn. The food felt very overpriced for the quality. I ordered the beef burger which, while nicely presented, tasted very processed rather than freshly made. My husband’s steak was just about acceptable but nothing special. What let the experience down further was the service. Nobody checked to see if our meals were satisfactory, which is something we’d expect in most restaurants. After finishing, we sat for another 30 minutes with our plates uncleared. Overall, the service was poor. Sadly, we won’t be dining here again during our stay, which is a real shame.

The Murderers is a Norwich pub with a unique name and long history. It's known for its live sports, hearty drinks, and charmingly old-fashioned atmosphere.
Popped in after an afternoon Christmas shopping. This place was close and cute with a nice feeling. It offers home Cooked food early doors only. Gluten free and vegan is an option. They even do GF cocktails. We went as a couple would be great with friends.

A year or so ago I came to Norwich for the first time with my friends. After hearing our favourite podcasters talk about how much they loved the murderers, we of course had to have a look. I can happily say it’s a very lovely place. We spoke to a guy behind the bar about said podcast and he loved the fact he got so many fans coming in. Turns out this man was the famous Phil (the owner)!! He even showed us around and told us all about the history of the place, he was genuinely a great guy. We stayed for some food and then bought some merch!! A few months later, I ended up moving down to Norwich from Manchester because I loved Norwich so much. One day I found myself stuck in the centre with a dead phone battery and no money. I tried to look around the city for a place to charge my phone. As expected, most places said no. Losing hope, I walked up to the murderers. I asked one of the bartenders and he instantly said yes and put my phone on charge. As I stood there waiting nervously around a group of grown men watching football, the bartender asked if I wanted some water or anything. He made me feel very comfortable. I’ve never written a review for any place so you know this is truly meaningful. I fully recommend this pub.
Lacey R — Google review
I arranged my Dad's retirement party at The Murderers and we received excellent service. From making the initial query over the phone to the evening itself, nothing was too much trouble. We had the cafe bar area as a private space for our party and chose to have a hot and cold buffet. Requirements for vegetarian and halal food were accommodated. There is a wide selection of beers and ales available, and a great choices of other drinks, which pleased my Dad and his guests. The cafe bar area was a lovely space in which to hold a party. Highly recommend!
Danielle C — Google review
We only popped in for a drink, but the guy behind the bar (the son of the owner) was so interesting about how the pub got its name and some history of the area, we could have stayed all day. We were in Norwich to research my wife's family tree and it turned out one of her relatives lived directly opposite The Murderers (in what is now a 💅 nail bar on the ground floor). Lovely old pub, very welcoming, good range of non-alcoholic drinks too.

Great service with friendly helpful staff beer prices were ok compared to other pubs in the area. It has loads of history being around since 1841. There can be a wait for tables it seems to get very busy especially when serving food, they have big TVs in the back of the pub for those who want to watch sports. We had a great time, the beer was great, the atmosphere brilliant and we will be calling again next time we are in Norwich.

It's also dog-friendly, providing treats and water for furry friends. Visitors have praised the rustic decor and the delicious food options such as truffle fries.
Been looking forward to coming here for a long time. I'm an hour away from my nearest brewdog. Needless to say I'm not disappointed. My partner and I had the patriot burger, it was smashing and cooked fresh. All the food coming out of the kitchen looked stunning. The drinks were the best part and made this day extra special. I had a pint of wingman, black heart and wingman tropical. All exceptional on draft. But the tropical wingman was like drinking fruit juice so smooth and at 7.2% you can really enjoy a couple. If brewdog wants to come and move into one of the old banks in Felixstowe it would be very welcomed. We are already planning our next trip to Norwich and this will be on the list for drinks and food.

The atmosphere is always buzzing, the beer selection is second to none, and the food is outstanding. I'm a huge fan of their burgers, which are always juicy and flavourful...the best I've had in a long time and closest burger I've had that can compete with the states. But the real game-changer for me are the cauli wings. They are truly amazing... perfectly crunchy, saucy, and so delicious that they've become my go-to order. The staff are always friendly and knowledgeable about the beers, making the whole experience top tier. Whether you're a craft beer connoisseur or just looking for great food and a good time, BrewDog is the one.

In an age of modern bars it's reassuring to walk into something that epitomises a traditional British boozer. It also helps that the wide range of beers are carefully looked after and presented.

A place to be. Pints are impeccable and fresh (well priced too) brewed by the local brewery of the same name. Though enough guest beers and imported stuff. Cozy and beautiful this pub feels like home even when quite busy with friendly locals. Plenty of seating outside too.

In my opinion The Fat Cat is the best pub in Norwich. The beer is always in top condition. It’s like a permanent beer festival in there! Love it.

Fat Cat brewery's original pub, in a nice part of west Norwich, about 15 minutes walk from the city centre. 12 cask beers on hand pull (about half of which were Fat Cat's own beers), plus an interesting choice of independent craft keg beers. A good feel to the place. Some outside seating too. A "must visit". Also, only 5 minutes walk away is the Alexandra, which you should also try if time permits!

This is a very atmospheric and welcoming pub. Lots and lots of beers to choose from. The staff are friendly. There's a nice cross section of ages of the customers, no poseurs or townies, no music, no gaming machines, just folk who enjoy a good pub and a beer. Very nice to sit in here with a pint and soak in the atmosphere. The only issue is that it's quite a distance from Norwich centre.

A traditional pub serving a great selection of real ale and ciders. A great place to enjoy chatting with friends and family with secluded areas. No machines or music to distract from good old conversation.

A Norwich local pub and brewery where they have a good mix of local ale (their own and guests), keg and cider as well as alcohol free options. Reasonably priced too, keg is more expensive but makes sense. Friendly staff and I think anyone would appreciate a visit here.
