Opera Restaurant Bar & Grill

Mentioned on

$$$$expensive
Bar & grill
Opera Restaurant Bar & Grill is a grand dining space located in a Grade II listed building, offering an internationally inspired grill menu using top-notch ingredients. The restaurant can accommodate up to 400 diners and features a ground floor restaurant and bar, a first-floor restaurant and bar with a music lounge, as well as a south-facing roof terrace. Known for its opulent setting, the venue offers bottomless brunch with an array of delectable dishes and drinks.
After two previous attempts failing due to ill health it was great to finally enjoy the delights of Opera Grill in Chester. We had booked general seating but on arrival were pleasantly surprised to be taken upstairs to a lovely terraced dining area with live music adding to the atmosphere. The space had a great vibe and after settling in we were warmly welcomed by our server. We started with some fresh bread which was really nice before moving on to our steaks which were cooked beautifully, paired with excellent chips. Even though we were already full dessert was a must and both choices were delicious. The whole evening lived up to expectations and made it well worth the third attempt. We really enjoyed our time and will definitely look forward to returning again in the future.

Had such a great evening at Opera Grill in Chester! The atmosphere is lively but still relaxed, making it a lovely spot for a night out. I ordered the fillet steak and it was cooked to absolute perfection – tender, full of flavour, and easily one of the best I’ve had in a long time. What really stood out though was the service. Jemima took care of us all evening and she was fantastic – so friendly, attentive, and genuinely made us feel welcome. Nothing was too much trouble and she added such a nice personal touch to the experience. Great food, amazing service, and a brilliant vibe – can’t wait to come back!

We visited and ordered the Sunday roast beef, asking for it medium, but unfortunately it was incredibly tough – we couldn’t even cut through it with a steak knife. The roast potatoes were also extremely dry, with skins that were almost impossible to cut. We had to send the dish back as it was simply inedible – like chewing rubber. We then ordered the steak for two (£100), which looked fantastic when it arrived. While the presentation was great, it was again over-charred on the outside and just okay in the middle. I’m not sure what’s going wrong in the kitchen, but the quality of the main dishes was a real letdown. Only the trimmings were enjoyable. On a more positive note, the service was excellent. Big shout out to staff and the Manager – they were all welcoming, professional, and handled the situation with great care. The ambience is incredible – the space looks fantastic and has so much potential. It’s just a real shame that the food didn’t live up to the rest of the experience.

We had a fantastic experience at Opera Restaurant Bar & Grill! It was our first time visiting, and everything from the atmosphere to the food was absolutely perfect. A special thank you to Mark ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ , who served us—his customer service was excellent! He was warm, helpful, and made us feel very welcome. We’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommended

Me and my husband shared the Treacle Steak, it was the best steak we have ever eaten, we wasn’t really sure what to expect but it exceeded all our expectations. The service was quick and our waitress was great, it was a special occasions and they spoiled us with a free dessert which we appreciated. We are leaving the country soon but have decided we have to return to have this one last time.

Restaurant very good, food was very well presented and tasted great. Marc attended to us and was very friendly and provided exceptional service. Highly recommend. Credit to Marc.

We always have a good experience in Opera, whether work or personal evenings. Gary and the team work hard to accommodate us. The new terrace is pretty special and a nice place to spend the evening. I normally enjoy the black cod or a sharing steak, the chimi-churi is excellent.
Adam S — Google review
Opera hosted our wedding reception on Sat 4th Oct. The staff and venue absolutely exceeded all our expectations! Nothing was too much trouble and the food was superb. To all the waiting and bar staff, the Chefs, management and a special mention to Zara Abraham, thankyou all so much! I wish I remembered more names because you all deserve recognition for making our special day one to remember! Ben and Teri.

Upstairs at the Grill

$$$$expensive
Restaurant
Steak house
Upstairs At The Grill is a stylish split-level steakhouse and cocktail bar known for its warm atmosphere and locally sourced beef. After being closed during the pandemic, the venue announced its return with plans to transform its iconic home in the Olde Custom House Building. With a history of 22 years in Chester, founder Neil McDonnell turned it into a phenomenon that set new standards for bars in the area.
After reading reviews we knew we wanted to visit here during a recent trip to Chester and it did not disappoint. Booked for Sunday Lunch and the meal was fantastic, both myself and my partner agreed it was the best roast we'd ever eaten out. The beef was cooked to perfection, exactly how we had asked, and the cocktails were also so good. The desserts didn't disappoint either. The restaurant itself felt exclusive and high end without feeling unwelcoming. The staff were friendly and chatty. Highly recommend this gorgeous restaurant!
Hollie B — Google review
This was an amazing restaurant experience. Freya and Dan were absolutely faultless. Never had service like this before in a restaurant. They both gave fantastic recommendations on what to eat and we tried it all. Would rate this as one of my best restaurant experiences ever. The food was amazing. The service impeccable. If you like meat and your in Chester then this place is a no brainer.

We had a wonderful evening at Upstairs at the Grill. The food was absolutely delicious – full of flavour and cooked to perfection. Every dish felt thoughtfully prepared, and it really showed. The service was excellent too, could not fault it. The staff were friendly, attentive, and impressively knowledgeable about the menu. It was clear that a lot of care went into making sure every detail was just right. Their attention to detail was second to none, and they made us feel completely looked after throughout the evening. It’s rare to find a restaurant that seems to nail every aspect but tonight Upstairs at the Grill did that. I can’t recommend it highly enough, and we’ll definitely be back soon!
Sophie — Google review
Came here to celebrate my girlfriend’s birthday and couldn’t recommend it more. From start to finish, the whole experience and staff were fantastic, especially the blonde waitress and the gentleman host with the beard (sorry, I didn’t catch their names). The food was amazing and we can’t wait to return.
Lewis B — Google review
An absolutely fantastic experience. A truly remarkable dining experience, provided by a driven and tremendous team of staff. The additional treats my wife and I were given after we celebrated our marriage was out of this world. Providing a memory that will stay with us as we embark on our journey together. A true feast on the eyes and taste buds! Our close friends also emphasised their delight due to the dining experience. Outstanding value for money. A truly amazing restaurant where food quality, service and wow-factor are evoked and displayed simultaneously!

What a lovely meal! My boyfriend took me for my birthday and Erin (our server) took excellent care of us. It was our first time dining here and she was just full of knowledge. She talked us through the menu, gave us genuine recommendations and was just such a lovely, bubbly person! The steak was absolutely amazing, might be one of the nicest I have ever had!
Emma J — Google review
Probably the best fillet steak I've ever had. We booked dinner here whilst in Chester for the weekend and so glad we did! From being seated right through to leaving, the service was amazing, and our waiter was really helpful and friendly. The chips were also amazing, and the bacon and cabbage dish was gorgeous. The steak was the best I've had. I'd not hesitate to recommend this place!
Ella S — Google review
Came here for my birthday and did not disappoint, the staff were very friendly & showed us samples of the steak. Had a beautiful birthday card on our table, and the food was divine. You definitely get what you pay for here, can't to return for another occasion.

Mr Lau's

$$$$affordable
Chinese restaurant
Mr Lau's is a modern restaurant located in the bustling town center, offering a vibrant dining experience with its lavish decor, theatrical drinks, and enticing Asian cuisine menu. The open kitchen serves dim sum, Chinese street food, and classic stir-fries from Tuesday to Sunday. Guests can enjoy the a la carte menu throughout the day and indulge in a dim sum selection in the lively bar area.
We booked in advance to ensure a table as it’s really popular. Service was so quick and the staff were really accommodating and lovely, can’t praise them enough. Food was incredible, I’ve never had a bad meal there - the beef and pork belly were cooked to perfection, and the wonton soup was served piping hot. Amazing place, wonderful staff and beautiful food!
Sophie T — Google review
I have dined here several times and the food and service has been great. I have always tipped both things on merit but this time I was shocked to learn they added a service charge of 12.5%. I would of tipped anyway but it isn't right that this is added on involuntary. We should have the right to tip or not as we wish, this isn't the USA. I will not be returning unless you remove this service charge. No wonder the place was almost empty. Thank you and goodnight.
John D — Google review
Mr. Lau is the one of the only two Chinese restaurants in the city centre of Warrington. I had a day having a lunch with friends. I came here because of its fame as told by people. The restaurant is in an arrogant and classic upholstery, warm lightings and comfortable dining atmoshpere. However, the dim sums were not at quality as we could expect. The dishes were at small plates with no generous portions to fill ones' stomach. The prices of food are not at so good prices if the restaurant does not provide choices of set meals by having selections of dim sums and others dishes at decent prices. When entering the restauarnt, customers have to climb upstairs and downstairs to dining hall and ground floor. I think there it has no good reason coming back again. It is so sorry to have such comment. This restaurant niches in the Fusion foods which are not for Chinese gourmets.

Lovely venue , great service and fantastic food !! The waiter recommended a main course as I was stuck for choice and he wasn’t wrong !!! Lunch time menu is great value for money and very filling !!

Went for my birthday it was perfect the ambiance of the place was romantic we were in a corner huddled away it really was amazing. Definitely would recommend 👌 💯

We had a fantastic meal here, great service, great ambiance and beautiful food. The waitress told us of the offer for 4 dim sum for £20, so we ordered 8 different dim sum between 2 of us and each one was delicious! We were attentively seen by both the bar staff and our friendly waitress. All the food was brought out at once and about 10 minutes after ordering! For the 8 dim sum and 3 soft drinks each came for just over £60 and for the quality of the food felt this was very reasonable!

Nestled in a charming setting, The Hornsmill is a delightful dining destination that promises an unforgettable culinary experience. Diners rave about the exquisite food and attentive service, with standout dishes like the roast potatoes earning high praise as some of the best around. Guests have enjoyed hearty Sunday lunches featuring generous portions of meat, delectable Yorkshire puddings, and fresh vegetables that surpass expectations. The ambiance at The Hornsmill is equally impressive; beautifully decorated and comfortable, it creates a welcoming atmosphere for all visitors.
Excellent experience to dine here these two nights I stayed in Chester. The first night, I ordered steak, medium rare, the meat was really well prepared. The taste, the seasoning was super tasty. Tonight, my husband and I ordered lamb chops, it was AMAZING!!!! The sauce was so tasty. It’s definitely worth coming again.

Went here with family before a long drive home. Close to motorway, bonus. Big place decor is light and airy. Staff nice, all busy. Good choice of menu especially the small style tapas dishes. A nice change from the ordinary pub grub. Can't fault it and would go in if passing that way
Thurso L — Google review
Passed through for a bite to eat and a drink, was greeted by a female host eventually who was some what rude and not very welcoming. The pub itself was lovely, clean and tasteful decorated, very nice atmosphere. Food came promptly, was hot, cooked as it should and pleasantly surprised after the welcome we got. The male host that served us was awesome, friendly, smiling and made you feel welcome, we actually gave a tip at the end due to his great service. Would have gave 5 stars if we would have had a better welcome.

First time and loved it... The set two or three course menu is a bargain. Lovely place and staff were great 👍

We had a meal for a special birthday treat. Tuesday evening 14 October 2025. The service was first class and the food was delicious, all five of us commented on our meals. Definitely recommend
Paul R — Google review
Absolutely amazing roast dinner platter for a good price, came here with my family and they all loved it. Great selection of beers and ciders to boot. Service was a little awkward and rushed at times but it was never slow!
Freyja F — Google review
We had an early dinner here on a boiling hot Saturday on the way to a reception. The staff were lovely, polite and friendly. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and very comfortable and the food was absolutely delicious. We only had a main each but both were superb, good portion size and presented elegantly. I would recommend the 'trio of fish' perfectly cooked sea bass, salmon and king prawns and the tomato pesto was divine. The stuffed chicken breast was also extremely good. We will definitely eat here again. 10/10
Julie-anne R — Google review
Food really wasn't great at all. The beef was impervious to both knife and tooth. The portions were hilarious leaving the plate empty and I am not a big eater. The buttermilk chicken burger with bacon was terrible, soggy deep fried and the bacon, well look below. We also tried the dauphinoise which was bone dry and looked like dried out stacked paper, inedible. My lad did however say his burger was nice.. Only saving grace being the waitresses who were lovely.

Chez Jules in Chester

$$$$affordable
French restaurant
Restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Chester on the lively Northgate Street, Chez Jules is a charming bistro that captures the essence of rustic French cuisine. This beloved eatery prides itself on using locally sourced seasonal ingredients to create mouth-watering dishes that reflect authentic French flavors. While their menu features a delightful array of vegetarian options, it also caters to those seeking vegan choices, albeit in more limited selections.
We came for lunch on a Sunday. There was a fixed price menu we could have chosen from or the La Carte. There was plenty of choice on both for all price ranges and tastes. Fantastic wine menu with lots of wines by the glass and some tasty cocktails. All the food coming out the kitchen looked great. The food was delicious. A generous portion of veg with the mains. The waiting staff were excellent, very helpful and attentive without being overbearing. The building itself is stunning. Great value for money with a good choice of drinks and food. I would highly recommend it and can’t wait to come back.

We came due our anniversary and every single aspect of our dining experience was exceptional. Every mouthful was bursting with flavour, even down to the carrots! We couldn't recommend this place enough! They were very hospitable and attentive, a purely positive experience!

If you want a quiet restaurant this is definitely not IT. Now if you want a lively happy restaurant then you have found it. It is noisy with conversations and laughter. The staff are extremely friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The food is of great quality and very well cooked. A most enjoyable meal. Great value for money.

Our friends choice 😁 Quite a big place on the ground floor, typical looking french 🇫🇷 restaurant👩‍🎨 Bigger very different looking first floor where the toilet is also situated. Super friendly and knowledgeable staff 😁 Bread on tables and menu choices made😁 Starters-french onion soup and goats cheese with beetroot 🫜 Mains- Duck, fish,Beef burgeon and Lamb Rump 😁👏👏 Really tasty food with a big bowl of veg and dauphinois 😁🥔 Choose french wine “yes please” Quite busy but not to loud or echoing 😁 No room for puds ☹️ Very happy with our choice of restaurant 😁🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

This has been such a good experience. Firstly, the french onion soup is divine. Really one of the best I've ever had. As a main I ordered a pork belly, and the sauce was so rich, it really made the dish to be great. The wine was also very good, I took a glass of pinot noir and enjoyed it. The staff were very professional and kind. This is place is a must if you're in Chester.

Party of 15, everyone had something nice to say about the food. Relaxed place to celebrate or dinner for 2 The lamb rump was regarded as the best they had eaten by two farmers! Any place that serves rhubarb cheesecake deserves a medal!!

Chiquito is a vibrant chain restaurant that offers a Tex-Mex menu, along with a variety of beers and cocktails. The Mexican-themed bar and grill opened in December, providing seating for 140 guests. It boasts an extensive range of freshly prepared dishes with flavors from America and Mexico in a relaxed fiesta atmosphere.
I enjoy this restaurant alot. Even though it's been super busy due to christmas they have always been attentive and lovely and the food has been really good quality.

Used to love Chiquitos, but then they got rid of a lot down South after covid. Took the chance to drop in en route back to London. Easy to book, had a great online 40% off deal. Very friendly welcome, extensive menu, reasonably priced, quick service to order, food and drinks arrived in great time! Delicious food, nothing fancy, but tastes great and generous portions. Would return so much more often if we had one down London way still!

We have to add to our previous review as your only allowed 1 review: 8th January 2025. The first ‘Wandering Wednesday’ of the New Year… Took Hubby Neil and I to Cheshire Oaks, to one of our favourite eateries…. Chiquito’s….. we love this Mexican restaurant. Fresh food, cooked to order, full of flavours and colour! We both had a pot of tea, as this day is so cold with the snow and freezing fog…. Starters: we both had the same: a double stack of tortillas, layered with garlic butter, parsley with mozzarella and oven baked….. thin and crispy, a perfect base…. A simple dish but sooooo tasty. Entrée’s: Neil had a tinga chicken and beef chilli Burrito filled with rice, black beans, salsa, mozzarella, quac, jalapeño cheese sauce, all wrapped in a tortilla, with added volcano sauce to spice it up, the dish was dressed with a side of homemade nachos with sour cream to dip…. Neil also added a side of spicy fries. I had tinga chicken with beef chilli Enchiladas, filled with rice, jalapeño cheese sauce, black beans, baked in the oven with rich tomato sauce, mixed with volcano sauce for that extra little kick and melted mozzarella over the top, with red pickled onions and sour cream…… A side of loaded crisp seasoned fries with chicken, chorizo and melted mozzarella….. All the dishes were perfect, our server today was a lovely lady who has served us previously, Amanda was professional, very courteous and attentive, a total credit to this establishment, many thanks for making our lunch perfect. Also massive complements to the chefs for their beautifully presented, culinary delights! Will we be back? Really! No need to ask!! 100% yes! 13 November 2024 ‘Wandering Wednesday’ this week took Hubster Neil and I to Chiquito’s at Cheshire Oaks. Starters: Neil had a double tortilla, oven baked layered with melted cheese, garlic butter, parsley and finely chopped red chilli on top, lovely and crisp with no soggy bottom! I had Quesadilla Birria with melted mozzarella cheese, fried onion and shredded beef….. served with a gravy jus. Entrée’s: Neil had Burrito filled with rice, refried beans, salsa, mozzarella, guacamole, jalapeño cheese sauce, tinga chicken, beef chilli and hot sauce all wrapped up in a large tortilla, the oven baked, accompanied with homemade tortilla chips and sour cream…..and a side dish of spiced fries. I had Enchiladas, tortillas filled with rice, jalapeño cheese sauce, tinga chicken and Barbacoa beef, baked in tomato sauce, smothered with Monterey Jack cheese, then finished off with sour cream and pink onions. A side dish of loaded nachos, jalapeño peppers, onions, melted mozzarella, sour cream, jalapeño cheese sauce, guacamole and salsa, with chicken and chorizo, tray baked so it all infused! Washed down with a pot of tea each, warmed us cockles as it was a very cold day. Our server was a lovely lady called Amanda, excellent service with a beautiful smile, very polite and attentive, totally professional, a credit to this restaurant, thank you, also many thanks to the chefs, your food was delicious, again thank you. The restaurants all around the ‘Coliseum’ at Cheshire Oaks look very tired and washed out from the outside but we can reassure you that Chiquito’s on the inside is gleaming, very clean, surrounded with very colourful, Mexican shades in the decor, truly beautiful inside and the food is OUTSTANDING, as always…… Will we go back? Most DEFINITELY!!!

On Saturday, we visited The Griffin to celebrate a special occasion for my brother. Unfortunately, the service we received left us extremely disappointed. After finishing our starters, the plates remained on our table for over 15 minutes without being cleared. As we were dining with our baby, who kept reaching for the plates, we moved them to the bar for safety. Following this, around 45 minutes later, a member of the front-of-house staff approached and asked if we had finished our starters. We confirmed that we had, and she responded that the kitchen had not been informed to begin preparing our mains because “we didn’t know you had finished your starters as the plates had been removed from the table.” When I explained that we had removed the plates ourselves due to our baby trying to grab them, the staff member replied, “In future, don’t remove your plates from the table.” This response was not only dismissive but also implied that the delay was our fault — when, in fact, it is the responsibility of the staff to monitor tables and ensure timely service. Our mains arrived about 20 minutes later, meaning we waited well over an hour in total. We were left waiting far too long for our food, with no communication or apology. The tone and attitude of the staff member added to our frustration and detracted from what should have been a relaxed and enjoyable family celebration. I hope you will take this feedback seriously and address the service and communication issues we experienced. We have visited the Griffin many times over the years but based on this experience, we will likely take our custom elsewhere in the future.

We booked a table at short notice for my mother in law’s 93rd birthday. We were greeted by Siobhan who had arranged a table with wheel chair access, close to facilities as we requested and settled in quickly. Mum had hurt her foot on the way and was visibly upset, but was cheered up by Siobhan’s cheerful, bustling style and was thrilled when Siobhan returned with a birthday card from “The Team” accompanying our drinks order. The food was very good, and as more customers arrived, the atmosphere became lively but not loud. It was lovely to be in a room of people clearly having a good time. All in all, a great experience, with Siobhan and her team entirely responsible for making it so. Thank you

We loved every single moment . The staff made christmas delightful without the stresses of cooking and dishes . It was our 1st time eating out on christmas day and will for sure 100% be back next year ! We didn't have any issues, though, a few comments to be made regarding choices for the gluten-free menu, which I have raised already with GK, though it didn't dampen our days . The 0% was a delightful treat, and we were so glad we felt like we were 100% enjoying the christmas spirits . All snr staff were happy and delightful as always . Id 100% recommend this restaurant to anyone and especially if you're thinking of eating out christmas day !

Had lunch, nice surroundings and excellent food. We had garlic bread, chicken burger, and steak. Pre-book as they were turning people away. Service was good too considering they were busy.

I have to say I went to Café Rouge for a work Christmas meal, thought the choice was a little odd as I've only ever had coffee from here before, and I was very surprised with how good the food was. I would definitely recommend and go back here, the staff that served us were friendly, and drink orders were sorted very quickly. The only negative was when it came to paying the system seemed to be slow, but I suppose that's fine with splitting a bill 30 ways 😬

Anazing food and very friendly service. Its a place to go if your hungry or just a snack. The decor is lovely too and very stylish. The staff are amazing and nothing us too much trouble they tell you from the start if something is not available on the menu too. You can have anything from burgers too French cuisine. This is a must if your here.

Good French food. I had the duck with cherry sauce and the café Gourmand. Very nice, service isn't fast but they cook food to order. Staff are helpful and the toilets are clean with nice toiletries. Great for foodies, maybe not the best place if you need to refuel fast and get back to the bargains. Good tip to check on their website before you go, I got a voucher with 30 percent off. And check when you order, it may not cover everything. Beautiful food.

I popped in out of the rain for some lunch and had a very nice meal. The French onion soup was excellent, and the steak baguette was a credit too. The steak was very tender and hardly needed any chewing. My only criticism, though personal, is the onion chutney, should have been served warm. But that's my opinion.

Nice place for breakfast 🍳, definitely not too expensive and good selection of vegetarian stuff 👌. Service fast and friendly with a good atmosphere overall. Just the portions could be bigger 🤔

Fantastic service from Karen. Very friendly, making sure we always had drinks. She had great opinions on food choices. Lovely food, will definitely return!

Food was amazing, we shared the butchers block and we were both absolutely stuffed. Definitely recommend if you’re not too sure which steak to try. Our waitress was Karen and she was so helpful with recommendations and how to have each steak cooked. Especially her tip with mixing the red wine sauce and beef dripping sauce. Lovely atmosphere

We had a great meal at Miller and Carter! The food was absolutely amazing—cooked to perfection and full of flavour. Our waitress, Chloe, was fantastic. She was very pleasant, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our visit. Her helpful and friendly attitude really made the experience even better. Highly recommend!

We have an early dinner at 3pm (walk-in, no waiting) on a Sunday afternoon, the place was clean and not crowded. The waiter who took our order was super helpful and friendly. We have ordered the sharing board which the lamb rump was super tender, the ribeye was juicy and delicious too. The gravy with yorkshire pudding tastes yum. My most favourite dish is the mash with the cheese together was amazing. The mushroom side with bread was great, especially the cheese didn’t cover the sense of mushroom which I think it’s really good. The ladies bathroom is clean and big. Overall the whole experience is amazing. 👍🏼

Lovely food, but the overall experience has to be because of Brian our server. He was so courteous, explained the different steaks on offer. There was no French martini on the drinks menu, but he offered to get me one. Steak cooked to perfection! Highly recommend going to Miller & Carter with friends & family. Brian thank you so much for tonight’s service, it was exceptional and you are a credit to the hospitality sector.

Great food, meat was brilliant. Kids Mac cheese was abit to small tbh considering it doesn't have the under 6 star next to it and my daughter (10) was still hungry after it. Server was great (Abbie). Didn't have to wait long either. That lamb was lovely!! We had the Easter sharer

The Siam Thai & Teppan-Yaki is an independent family run business that has been open for over 10 years and offers Japanese and Thai dining, as well as a bar on separate floors. It is popular with locals, who love its delicious food and unique atmosphere.
Went for a birthday meal as a couple and I absolutely loved this place. Great price for the quality and quantity. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was good as there were plenty of Christmas parties there. The view and location are wonderful. Cannot recommend this place enough!

Very impressed. Had a fabulous meal at the Siam Thai Restaurant yesterday. We went around 3.30pm with friends (four of us) very quiet but a few couples came in later. We chose from the early evening menu which was amazing value £18 for 2 courses …. generous portions absolutely delicious. It was so nice to be greeted and waited on by friendly smily waiters and waitresses. 100% Definitely will go there again and recommend to family and friends. Thank you to all the staff at Siam.

On City Road not far from Chester Station Another great find if you like Thai Food. Very deceiving front of building as it stretches quite far back on 3 levels of restaurants looking over the canal. Although an old building they have maintained it really well and everywhere was very clean. Love all the interesting artefacts and decor with excellent service from staff in traditional outfits. Nice relaxing music in the background. Amazing price for 2 course lunch £13.95 especially for Chester 👏. 10/10 👜 handbag restaurant review for our delicious food today.

The food was delicious and was brought out quickly. They automatically add an "optional 10% gratuity tip" to the bill. Keep an eye out for it on the bill and ask them to remove it if you don't want it to be added.

Came here for my brother’s birthday and so glad we did! The whole experience was amazing from start to finish. The chef’s fire show was great fun — loads of energy, laughter, and interaction that really brought the evening to life. It wasn’t just dinner; it was a proper show! The food itself was delicious too — full of flavour and cooked perfectly in front of us. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and a really memorable night. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Amazing night for my daughters 21st birthday meal. Great food, great staff, great entertainment. Kids loved it too. Only one feed forward I would give is to let people know when they’re doing the fire as we would have liked to video that part too

Visited yesterday with two vegans, and two neurodiverse children, so we were quite a fussy table when it came to dietary requirements and specific food preparation. The staff were absolutely fantastic. They accommodated every need and checked with us along the way, laughed with us, and never once treated us like we were a bother. The food was absolutely fantastic. Considering the teppanyaki elements which are grilled to order right in front of you, it was all cooked perfectly and tasted fantastic. The sushi and other bits that were prepared in the kitchen were beautifully presented and so fresh. And my daughter who has very limited "safe foods" was catered to and ate more than I've seen her eat all week. 🙌✨ Finally, the atmosphere was second to none. The staff were all so welcoming and friendly. Whenever food wasn't being prepared they would find another way to keep us entertained and laughing. I'm Autistic and new situations can be so overwhelming, but I felt right at home within minutes of being there. I couldn't recommend this place more highly. 5* 🩵

Liverpool John Lennon Airport

International airport
Airport
Liverpool John Lennon Airport is located in a city known for its rich history and cultural significance. The airport offers a convenient gateway to explore the birthplace of The Beatles and home to renowned football clubs. Visitors can enjoy a quintessential British gastropub experience at The Monro, which features a charming courtyard and an inviting atmosphere. In addition to exploring the city's vibrant arts and culture scene, travelers can indulge in diverse dining experiences, from dockside eateries to fine-dining restaurants.
Great airport! It’s a small one terminal airport so if you land there, you’re out very quickly with clear signage about how to get away. Leaving is super nice as it’s mainly Ryanair and Easyjet. There’s a Greggs before you enter the secured area and it’s quite cheap compared to after security. Security was busier than I expected for such a small airport but it was fast, highly efficient (nothing had to be taken out of the bag and barely any bags got pulled out) and everyone was courteous and friendly, very welcoming! Gates are announced close to departure which I don’t like and there’s a small waiting area with some food options in the secured area. WiFi wasn’t strong enough for me to still have it in the gate area 3 and above. Overall, really enjoyed that airport!
PheNom603 — Google review
This is my first time flying from Liverpool airport, and I must say, it is far less stressful than a certain other airport...beginning with M! Nice, small terminal. Check in with Jet2 was quick and easy, as was security control.
Small G — Google review
Liverpool Airport is small but quite modern. If you’re feeling hungry, I’d recommend grabbing a coffee or a drink at Greggs. The bag checks are done quickly – you don’t need to take things out – and the whole security process is quite high-tech. Do arrive early though, as they tend to have fewer staff around lunchtime, so things can slow down a bit. Bring a jacket – you have to walk outside to get to the plane and it’s often quite chilly with the wind, though it doesn’t take long. Overall, my experience at Liverpool Airport has been a good one – the staff are friendly and everything runs smoothly
IGOR — Google review
Never flown from Liverpool before. It was easy to get to. The meet and greet was straightforward and easy with a short walk to the terminal. Checking in the bags and security were quick and efficient. Our plane left on time. A great experience going and coming back. So much more pleasant than the bigger airports I've used.
Laura R — Google review
Several free water refills (before and after security) would be great. Very limited options to eat or drink pre-security. If you have check-in luggage you must stay in pre-security area for several hours for any connecting flight. Apparently you can drop off your luggage 3 hours until departure time.

Great efficient airport. Much much more organised than Manchester. Simple layout. One floor check ins and exit and top floor gates. Plenty of choice. Starbucks burger king etc. Smoking area easy access. Large selection of duty free. Good security

Ample parking right next to arrivals/ departures - pricey of course at 12 pounds for an hour's stay! Quiet and with a few shops and coffee places available.

That’s a really nice airport - friendly staff, cool design, and posters with The Beatles.

Manchester Airport

International airport
Airport
Manchester Airport (MAN) is a bustling 3-terminal airport with national rail connections and flights to various destinations worldwide. It offers a range of facilities including shops, self-check-in kiosks, and parking spaces, although parking can be pricey. The airport provides quick check-in procedures and an array of dining and shopping options. While it may lack some staff for inquiries, the new Terminal 3 has improved convenience and reduced queues compared to other terminals.
Passport control has been massively improved since my last international trip a few years ago. The flight arrived early, we got through passport control super quick and my baggage only took 15-20 mins to show up on the carousel. Express pickup area was convenient and made it easy to get the Uber.
Baz P — Google review
It was a great Airport especially Terminal 2! The interior design was great and it was fascinating to be there. The only problem is that when I was collecting my luggage they would only send out 2-3 luggage every few minutes or so and that nearly made me miss my train! Great experience though.
Fabio S — Google review
Came on a train four hours before the flight so no rush. I had to walk to Terminal 3 but the signs were clearly displayed so it was easy to follow. Used toilets twice and although both were reasonably clean, it was smelling really bad in one of them. Waiting area after the security check was packed, so I had to wander for a few minutes to find a seat with enough personal space around me. Plenty of places to eat and drink.

Arrived at Manchester Airport with time to spare — parking was easy to find and clearly signed. Check-in was smooth, and the staff were helpful and polite. Security took around 20 minutes, which felt reasonable for a busy weekday morning. Once through, Terminal 2 was bright, clean, and full of decent food and coffee spots. Grabbed a quick bite and found plenty of seating near the gate. Boarding was well-organised, and staff kept things moving without fuss. Overall, a solid travel experience — efficient, comfortable, and much improved from a few years ago. Just arrive early, especially during peak times, and you’ll be fine.
Abdullah A — Google review
I've been here 4 times, and it's been a good, straightforward journey getting to and from the gates. My favourite terminal has to be T2 as it has a good variety of shops and the gates aren't too far away.
Connor C — Google review
Well what a change in Terminal 2 now the renovations are just about complete. It no longer feels like Luton airport in the 1970s. Lovely modern spacious ambience, fast efficient security, clean and tidy with a fast train link. Great shopping and eating too. What more could you ask for.
Martin F — Google review
It’s a good airport. Modern. Well appointed. Good facilities and amenities. Not much in departures before security. There is a WH Smith and a Starbucks. Protip: nowhere to sit in departures really so might not want to arrive too early. Can sit on the cement blocks outside if the weathers ok. After security the Duty Free is epic. The eatery options decent. Seating options are significantly better. Adequate. Another Protip: Boots is a really great store in my experience for travel amenities and snacks. Good variety of options and so many of the things you may be looking for at a reasonable price.
Kris T — Google review
Manchester Airport is a very smooth, very well organised airport. Being one of the busiest airports in the UK, it's absolutely amazing. There's a lot of car parking by the airport and it's a very affordable price. Manchester Airport has a humongous selection, and 3 terminals make it spread out, and the ATC knows how to make sure the runways are running smoothly. Absolutely amazing airport, and I would highly recommend it. It's also got a great planespotting place with a British Airways Concorde on show!. P.S. : The planespotting area costs £5 for entry, but it's worth it.

Birmingham Airport

International airport
Airport
Birmingham Airport, established in the 1980s, boasts strong local and long-distance bus connections as well as its own train station. It is conveniently located in the heart of Birmingham. The area offers a variety of family-friendly activities including children's clubs, play areas, museums, nature spots, and entertainment venues. Additionally, there are numerous dining options such as Dirty Martini which provides a cozy atmosphere and serves food along with an extensive selection of liquors.
Hello pretty much, I had a great experience taking my flight from Birmingham airport to Perpignan yesterday ! I arrived at the airport around 11:30am and my flight was at 1:40pm. I never came to this airport before but I didn’t struggle at all to find where I had to go for the departures place. The security was easy to find and everyone was pretty kind with me there, explaining everything and helping me whenever I needed. After security, waiting for my plane I had access to a huge commercial place. We can buy a lot of different things you can see on the photos and we can eat pretty much everything. Such a good idea ! I had to wait 1 hour and a half but it was so quick with all of these things to wait. Thank you Birmingham and United Kingdom for this beautiful Airport ✈️🛩️

Great place. Perfectly located airport. 15 minutes and I am there. No traffic. Great parking. Great short term pick up/drop off zone. After renovation - looks amazing. Very good security check system. Even when it looks that it is a looooooot of people you go smoothly. Perfect for travellers who are annoyed with queues. After renovation I have never bought fast track in this airport
Diana — Google review
This was a great airport to fly out from, connected with the train station by a people mover cable car type system! Electronic departure boards and boarding gate signage is frequent to help navigate around, water refillable points can be found across the airport too. Seating is comfy for sitting back on or some for lying down, toilets are kept clean themselves. Designs like the pattern on the wall showing a steam train running to the end are innovative and queuing system for the flight was efficient where we walked straight there, security went fine although we were told not to take pictures in the baggage area maybe due to the possibility of any breaches.

I recently traveled through Birmingham Airport from Abu Dhabi via Istanbul. As a tourist and other nationality they asked some questions about travel purposes, return dates, stay locations and it was easy for me. Too slow and rush at emigration, baggage handling was fast, trolly required to pay, public transportation are available. The ticket rate was high if compared with Heathrow.
Abdulsalam P — Google review
Birmingham Airport prioritizes function over flair. The facilities are small and dated, with minimal shopping and dining options. It serves its primary purpose-getting you on your flight-but don't expect anything more.
Joti C — Google review
Very low quality, one of the worst in the UK. Very slow services. After 23:30, no information desk. After 24:00 no transportation to the train station until the morning. My flight was delayed so I missed the train and I spent all night at the airport. No place to sit apart from the floor. Toilets filthy. No signs to find access to the coach.
James D — Google review
I knew Birmingham airport wouldn't be the best, but today i had the absolute worst experience. The hall for the bag drop Was never show, it said zone the entire time, a letter was never given. Staff couldn't help me either, I was told to just wait. After touring all zones for the 3rd time one display had changed to the airline I needed. Already running late bc of the earlier matter I made mh way to security. The airport website clearly stated liquids up to 2l would be fine. Still my bag had to be inspected further. Turns out liquids up to 2l are alright but need to be tested individually. Would be good to communicate that in advance to plan in the time. The toilets are run down. The doors barely close, so someone walked in on me. Furthermore a hook would be nice so handbags dont have to be left on the floor. Overall I would avoid Birmingham Airport whenever I can.
Jogo — Google review
I recently flew through Birmingham Airport (BHX) in the UK and had a mixed experience. On one hand, it’s conveniently located and user‑friendly in certain aspects, but on the other hand there were a few issues worth noting. What I liked: The airport is relatively easy to navigate with a single terminal layout, which made finding check‑in, security and my gate more straightforward than at some larger UK hubs. Its rail‑link is strong according to recent independent surveys, making it a good option for travelers using public transport. International Airport Review During my visit, staff at check‑in were courteous and helpful when I asked about luggage allowance and boarding gate details. What could be better: Security and check‑in queues were longer than I expected. Several reviewers have flagged this as a repeated issue, particularly during busy times or while ongoing construction is in progress. Some facilities feel outdated or under‑resourced — for example, seating near gates was limited and a few retail/café areas felt crowded or lacking. Drop‑off and pick‑up zones, as well as car‑park signage and access, seemed confusing at times; this added a bit of stress when arriving early. Overall thoughts: If you’re flying from or through Birmingham Airport and arrive with plenty of time, the trip can be quite smooth. The accessibility and straightforward terminal design are definite pluses. However, if you’re cutting it close to your flight or travelling at peak times, I’d advise giving yourself extra buffer time due to potential queues and minor facility drawbacks.
