Restaurante El Rincón de Juan Carlos

$$$$expensive
Fine dining restaurant
Restaurante El Rincón de Juan Carlos, situated in the picturesque fishing village of La Caleta in Tenerife, is a contemporary dining destination known for its innovative local cuisine. This family-run restaurant, owned by brothers Juan Carlos and Jonathon Padron, has played a pivotal role in shaping the modern Canarian food scene.
El Rincón de Juan Carlos is a two-Michelin-star restaurant that promises a degustation journey like no other. Almost everything on the menu delivered exceptional flavors and creativity, with a couple of exceptions. The highlight of the experience was undoubtedly the blue lobster dish and the dessert course, which were nothing short of spectacular. The attention to flavor combinations and the precision in execution were truly Michelin star worthy. However, one dish the elvers carbonara fell short, feeling out of place in an otherwise meticulously curated lineup. Additionally, while the sauces were undeniably luxurious, the consistent use of heavy, creamy textures across seafood dishes felt overwhelming. A touch of lightness or acidity could have brought better balance to the menu. Service, as expected from a restaurant of this caliber, was exceptional, with an acute attention to detail. However, a few minor lapses detracted slightly from the seamless experience. For example, a server’s sleeve brushed the bread while reaching for plates, and there was a moment of miscommunication when we were offered dessert wine despite explicitly being a non-alcoholic table. These are small details, but in a restaurant of this level, they stand out. Overall, El Rincón de Juan Carlos offers a bold and mostly successful culinary journey that reflects the chef’s fearless creativity and passion. While there are minor points for refinement, the experience is unquestionably memorable and deserving of its Michelin accolades. For those seeking innovation and indulgence, this is a destination worth exploring.

Incredible experience, front of the house and back of the house was top notch. The best meal I’ve ever had. Period. Hats off to everyone, truly at a loss for words on how amazing this meal really was. Thank you for making our birthdays truly, truly special.
Tim B — Google review
An exceptional experience at El Rincón in Tenerife! Everything was perfect — the service, the atmosphere, and above all, the food. Congratulations to the two brothers for their incredible talent and passion, which truly shine through in every dish. A big thank you to the whole team for their kindness and for adapting the menu for my wife — such a thoughtful gesture. If you’re staying in Tenerife, don’t miss this unique gastronomic experience. We look forward to coming back

A very special meal and experience. The restaurant is situated on the fifth floor of a hotel (you walk past a bar with a stunning view too as you enter). Set menu and you can choose wine pairing(s) and/or drinks, service was very knowledgeable about each dish and perfectly attentive. Each dish is presented differently but all are outstanding - they give you three different types of butter (one pistachio one local and one regular) if you choose bread, for example, to show the level of attention. Our set menu had a lot of seafood all of which was stunning (I think there was one lamb dish), it may seem expensive but for this quality of effort and presentation it honestly was a special experience.
Alex M — Google review
I can only confirm all other reviews: a truly amazing experience: great view and a warm and friendly staff. And the menu: lots of small dishes, all refined and with great taste. Truly a 2 star restaurant !
Marc E — Google review
The most amazing culinary experience we've ever had in Tenerife. With a spectacular view on the bay of La Caleta, hosts Maria-José, Raquel and their crew know how to spoil their guests. Every course coming from the kitchen is an explosion of taste in your mouth and the wine pairing only went crescendo. The 'Arbol dulce' in the end was unlike anything I've had ever seen in a restaurant. Michelin is absolutely right, this place 'vaut le voyage'. Even from Belgium to Tenerife.
Wim L — Google review
Great atmosphere, great service. Everyone is very attentive and you can enjoy your evening to the fullest. Food was good too. In the end we got cute little tree with deserts, complimentary, and it made our dining even more pleasant. Wine pairing needs to be improved, i think. We were able to book a table for two for the same evening, but it seemed to be full, so probably reservation needed.
Anna A — Google review
Wow..Wow..Wow..Wow!!! Thank you so much for such a mind bogglingly amazing journey, guys. I have eaten in many Michelin and fine dining restaurants in the past, but the experience I had last night was on another level. The front of house staff were extremely helpful, friendly, and professional, which made our experience even more special. The food was beyond amazing!! The flavour combinations, textures, visualisation and wine flight was mind blowing. Bravo to chef and his team.. they have put their heart and soul into each and every course served. If you are considering visiting, i wholeheartedly recommend that you do.. you will not be disappointed!! As the menu consists of 17 tasting courses.. please allow over 3 and a half hours. I recommend arrival around 6.30-7pm

Winery
Food & Drink
Bodegas Monje is a family winery nestled in the picturesque hills near El Sauzal, offering stunning views of the mountains and sea. Run by Felipe Monje, a fifth-generation winemaker, this vineyard boasts grape varieties that have survived for over 500 years, resulting in unique and intense volcanic character wines. Visitors can enjoy guided group tastings, private tastings, and wine tours with cheese pairings.
Lovely winery short distance from La Oratava town with absolutely gorgeous wine, some interesting tasting options ( also restaurant and show nights if you visit on those days) The visit was informative but not over detailed. The atmosphere and architecture is nice and the views pretty. Highly recommended!
Laura F — Google review
We had an outstanding tour (shout out to Feel Tenerife!) which culminated in a tour of the winery and a fantastic meal. Gorgeous views. Great tastes. The staff were very friendly. Highly recommend.
Keely C — Google review
A Perfect Day at Bodegas Monje We really enjoyed our time at Bodegas Monje! The wine tasting and tour offered a fascinating glimpse into their winemaking process and historic cellar. Just the right balance of information, history and winemaking. We sampled four different wines, each paired with four differently aged cheeses, which made for a truly memorable tasting experience. The setting itself is absolutely stunning, with panoramic views of the vineyards and the Atlantic Ocean beyond. After the tour, we stayed for a delicious lunch on the patio that perfectly complemented the wines. The Croquetas de Jamón (Iberico ham croquettes with cheese) and the fire-roasted suckling pig were both exceptional. Perfectly prepared and full of flavor. It was the ideal combination of great food, nice wine, and warm hospitality. We highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Tenerife. A good escape from the touristy, overbuilt vibe of the south. A true must-do for wine lovers! 🍷

Beautiful winery and amazing wine tasting! The guide was very prepared and made the experience really enjoyable. Tried out 4 wines and taste was superb. Definetely a place not to miss out if you're around

My fiancé had surprised me on my birthday for a wine and cheese tasting at Monje and I had a really great day! The tour was really well explained and to see local artists work was a nice touch to the experience. I enjoyed my day and couldn’t not treat ourselves to a bottle of wine and souvenirs from their gift shop. Thank you for a great experience :)

What an amazing location! We did the wine tasting tour and the experience was fully complete. From the process of making wine to the full history of the winery and more, amazing tourguide with very good English. Can recommend to everyone! 😄

San Sebastián 57

Mentioned on
+3 other lists
Restaurant
San Sebastián 57 is a stylish and intimate restaurant in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, known for its regional cuisine and extensive wine selection. The chef, Alberto Gonzalez Margallo, combines tradition and modernity to create dishes using fresh, seasonal ingredients such as bigeye tuna, black potatoes, and local heirloom tomatoes. The restaurant offers a choice of two atmospheres: a classic and sophisticated setting or a more relaxed ambiance.
I liked the dinner here, took a set for €54 and was satisfied with the food. Especially liked starters - Tartar, Shrimp Ceviche and Potato Foam were 3 delicious starters in this set and I liked them all. Others were also good, but I was full after pork cheeks 😁 Generally - I recommend this place, cozy and tasty 👍
Dzmitry K — Google review
An elegant, minimalist restaurant with refined lighting and perfectly set tables. Part of the kitchen is visible through a glass partition, letting you watch the chefs at work. Near the entrance, you’ll see a proud wall of awards, from the Guía Repsol to the 2024 Michelin Star. The service is polished and attentive. With each course, the staff carefully explains how the dish was prepared and which ingredients were used. It adds a deeper appreciation to the entire experience. We ordered the tasting menu and a steak. Despite arriving quite hungry, we couldn’t finish the full menu — it’s generous and easily shareable between two people. The tasting menu included four starters, main courses made with local ingredients, two desserts, and a sweet treat at the end. Every dish was well-balanced, thoughtfully plated, and served at the perfect pace. The only downside was the steak. It cost around €50, so you naturally expect it to be perfectly cooked — but unfortunately, it wasn’t the doneness we had requested. Still, the overall experience was excellent and definitely worth it for anyone seeking a refined, flavorful journey.
Tania K — Google review
I can not say, that I really liked it. The steak, I ordered 3/4, came less than medium, so it had to go back on the grill, what made the whole thing not better. The waiters gave me the feeling, that my money is more welcome than i myself am. There’s a difference between an excellent service and an attitude.
Oliver J — Google review
Simply a stunning meal. Everything on the menu was tempting, so for a first visit, I went for what they call the Walking Menu of 5 courses with a range of add-ons. This was supplemented by glasses of white and red wines for the fish dishes and one meat dish. As with tasting menus, the portions are small, but the courses are numerous. Everything came with a fine balance of flavours and each with a certain wow factor. As a solo diner, I was pleased to have a table in a secluded corner, though I did feel slightly invisible when ready to pay the bill. A nice touch at the end of the evening was the chef coming around to tables to chat with customers. Some clearly seemed to be locals who have the privilege of frequenting this restaurant. However, the chef also spared a moment for the lone stranger in the corner... thank you for that. Booking seems to be necessary, but equally as necessary is a visit to experience fine dining of top quality.
Steve M — Google review
This was our third visit, we have always enjoyed the excellent service and theatre which added up to a great atmosphere that made us feel like a valued customer. But this visit was different, the service started out well but as the place got busier the service really dropped. We order water and two glasses of wine with our starter which we had finished half way through the main course, we were not asked once if we wanted more water or wine. In a high end Restaurante I do not expect to be calling a member of the waiting staff over to do such a basic task. Finally 20minutes after finishing our main course we were asked if we wanted coffee, dessert etc, quite frankly by then I just wanted the bill and to leave. It took Another 10 minutes to get the bill, then as we got up the waitress called us back to give us complementary sweets. The restaurant is in two rooms which seems to be where the problem arises, almost all night the two waitresses were either at the hospitality station which can not be seen by the majority of tables or in the room within the wine bar/shop, leaving the rest of the customers alone. The staff are very friendly but the whole thing was so much less professional than our last two visits. I just don’t think this is acceptable considering the price and the many accolades this restaurant has. We will not return, it was a very disappointing dining experience. The menu seems far too bias towards cold ceviche/ tartar dishes leaving little choice if that is not your thing. The background music was far too random, choose a style and stick to it, but not the heavy base lounge, it does not go with the dining experience. For such a restaurant in a capital city the standard expected for such dining is just not there.
Em L — Google review
My boyfriend and I recently dined at San Sebastián 57. As vegetarians, we found the food to be just okay, but the service was truly commendable. The staff were attentive and friendly, making sure we were comfortable and well taken care of throughout our meal. While the vegetarian options were somewhat limited and not particularly memorable, the quality of the ingredients was evident, and the dishes were well-prepared. For non-vegetarians, this place might offer a more exciting culinary experience, but for us, it was the excellent service that stood out the most. If you're looking for a restaurant with good service and a decent vegetarian menu, then it’s worth a visit 😁
ANJANA K — Google review
Really good food with a touch to the smallest detail. We were four and made our own tasting menu by ordering most of their starters, 3 mains to share and some desserts. Everything we tried was delicious! The only probably not supreme dish was the brownie- too simple for the restaurant. Loved the little sweets and candies they served at the end! Highly recommend 👌
Dejana V — Google review
We had a lot to say on this one, so our high-level (abridged) takeaways below… OVERALL: food is fine but not worth the money, weird vibe (bad decor/ambiance) MENU HIGHLIGHTS: shrimp ceviche, all desserts on walking menu, local wine, aperitif SKIP: walking menu, bread to start FULL THOUGHTS BELOW: While staying in La Laguna during our honeymoon, we went out of our way one night to go to San Sebastián 57, because we saw it on the Michelin Guide and were intrigued by the menu and wine selection. Unfortunately (despite a few menu and service highlights) we were largely disappointed. Nothing on the menu was bad, but it was also not special or interesting, and, in our opinion, certainly not worth the price. Before we get into it, a few notable exceptions worth mentioning: The service from the head waitress was exceptional. She was warm, welcoming, and clearly experienced. We got the chefs “Menú Caminar” and there was a nice, surprise starter course and surprise dessert/truffle course as well as a surprise aperitif at the end. Additionally, the local wine that was recommended to us was excellent and one of the best Canarian wines we had while on our travels. Small note: bathroom soaps and lotion smelled great. Now onto the food: Each of the courses was completely fine, but not at the caliber we would have expected for such a restaurant. The oyster was a weird texture and I had a shell in my dish. The ceviche was excellent, but it was truly the only savory dish we will remember from the evening. The potato/egg dish and the meat dish were both fine but quite heavy and the bacalao dish in between did not balance them sufficiently. About the ambiance: For a restaurant listed in the guide we expected a level of charm and/or sophistication (or at least some kind of design point of view) but frankly it was nowhere to be found. The decor was unintentional and uninspired and it made the vibe feel cold and impersonal. Overall, I think our score was lower because we came in with high expectations. This place would benefit from a decor update as well as a fresh take on the menu (perhaps paring down the walking menu to a few less courses of higher quality).

Restaurante La Hierbita, Tenerife Islas Canarias

Restaurant
Nestled in the historic heart of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Restaurante La Hierbita is a delightful gem that captures the essence of Canarian cuisine. Housed in a charming 19th-century mansion, this eatery boasts nautical-themed decor and an inviting atmosphere reminiscent of dining aboard a ship. The creaky wooden floors add to its unique character, making each step feel like an adventure.
We stumbled upon this restaurant right after arrival in Santa Cruz. It looked very authentic and there were lots of local visitors. What can I say - it turned out to be one of the best restaurants we visited so far. The price was super reasonable and everything was fresh and delicious. 10/10 would recommend (I especially loved the aubergines with honey and the pulpo)
Denise D — Google review
Great local food in a traditional old house. The prices are high, but the plates are huge. We took half of the food home and ate it the next night for dinner. The salad was amazing (amazing queso asado), and the fiesta pork dish is super good. Careful - they charge you for the bread and mojo they bring without you asking for.
Rebecca C — Google review
A local traditional restaurant offering pretty generous portions of really good food. This place is popular amongst locals...and I fully understand why... warm welcoming atmosphere ideally located restaurant by the heart of the city centre but a less noisy old street. Just love the place 🙏🏻❤️🌿
Jakob-Pall J — Google review
We came across this restaurant a couple of years ago, we always said we must go back, but it was always closed. I think it only opens at certain times and they don’t necessarily correspond with Google! However, it is a Very authentic Canarian setting, serving large portions of good food. The wine is a little limited in choice but it’s worth trying. We will be retuning before going home.

Really excellent traditional food. We were served by a lovely women from Argentina who was super helpful and gave some excellent recommendations. The Pulpo and Sardines were exceptional! Would recommend

If you want to eat a tipycal canarian food - this restaurant is your place. Casual atmosphere, good staff. You can pay cash or with card
Ilinka I — Google review
The food is good depending on what you get. They didn’t have the first two items I wanted included the dish we came to this restaurant to get. The Ropa Vieja. We came in May so it’s understandable they didn’t have it because it’s a stew so it’s a winter food. But maybe tell your customers what you don’t have. Also, you have to pay for the bread and sauces unless you tell them you don’t want it. 4 stars is very accurate for this place.
Diana W — Google review
The place is very cozy, with a small terrace, the food is delicious, and they tell you the allergens in each dish. A spectacular place if you're visiting Tenerife.

The attentive and efficient service ensures a delightful dining experience. Guests rave about the delicious desserts, including the chocolate coulant, tarta de mami, and milhoja. The staff is known for their helpful recommendations on both food and wine pairings.
Absolutely best cod & fries I ever had. We also had Mami’s avocado, the goat cheese salad and the cannelloni. Super charming staff and very authentic location. But, reason to come here should be the food. Incredible.

We went to this restaurant without reserving a table and they were straight forward finding a table for the two of us. Since we wanted to try tipical Canadian food, we asked to the waitress: she suggested us different options both for food and wine. Overall everyone took really good care of us and our food was delicious. We definitely recommend La Tasquita de Mami!

We could not decide which starters to choose so we only ordered that (2/person) These starters are generously portioned and creative, vegetarian-pescatarian friendly. service was attentive and fast despite a busy restaurant. The tortilla was a bit underseasoned. A delightful experience. Chocolate tart with orange icecream is very good.

Restaurant
Restaurante La Casona del Vino is a top-class restaurant in Tenerife, known for its warm and rustic atmosphere. The place offers an intimate setting for special events and boasts exquisite gastronomy. Visitors have praised the delightful service provided by staff members like Mary, who offered excellent recommendations such as the kisses of sirloin and the 3 milk cake. The food is described as amazing, with perfectly cooked potatoes and juicy spare ribs in BBQ sauce.
Had a fantastic lunch at La Casona del Vino in Candelaria! It’s a cozy little tavern with a great atmosphere—a bit on the pricier side compared to others in Tenerife, but honestly, it’s worth! The staff were super friendly and made us feel right at home. We tried the black rice with squid and the one with duck and mushrooms, and wow—honestly some of the best I’ve had in a while! It was packed with flavor and cooked perfectly. If you’re a fan of good, hearty meals, you have to try it. The desserts were also amazing! The cheesecake and the caramel icecream were just the best I’ve ever tried! All in all, a great experience, and I’d totally recommend it if you’re in the area and looking for something a bit special.

Estupendo!!!

Honestly, the best restaurant we’ve been to during whole 1w Tenerife trip. Hidden gem. Authentic Spanish vibe and incredibly friendly and helpful staff. The food was absolutely amazing, you have to try Tres Leche cake (dessert). Really happy we found this place and we would love to come here again!

Called in for lunch after walking from Candelaria to build up an appetite. The wine list is extensive with a good range of prices. Everything that we tried was beautifully presented, tasty and cooked to perfection. Service was friendly and efficient. This is not the cheapest restaurant around but represents good value considering the quality of the food. Booking is advisable as it gets quite busy. Well worth a visit.

Food was Great looking and even better tasting there was only one thing that can not comprehend and it is the frozen chips... All the food cooked to perfection and than you have frozen chips not the great canary potatoes but the frozen chips (like in a chip shop) Please do not do that anymore ... And with the pork ad a souse in the plate in the dish not as something to purchase separately .... Those two things killed the one out of 5 starts
Boris R — Google review
This place is absolutely amazing. Our waitress was Mary and she was a delight and gave us top service and the best recommendations. She advised the “kisses of sirloin” what was the best meal we had in a long time….the potatoes were to perfection and they had spare ribs in bbq sauce what was the special of the day and they were super juicy and fell of the bone… then to deserts… the 3 milk cake….also Mary’s recommendation….AH-MA-ZING…. And the cheese cake is super duper cheesy which I loved….This place is a must go if your are close! It’s worth every penny they ask for! Thank you Mary and huge compliments to the chef(s) Will be back 😄

Today we had a great experience at the monasterio. We ordered a medium steak with pepper sauce and medium stake with mushroom sauce. Both plates included French fries and a bit of vegetables. Honestly, the food was delicious and the price was good. The staff were very friendly and polite. After the food we had a walk around the monasterio and found a little farm with freely walking roosters, ducks with the baby, a peacock and even a donkey! You can even walk to the top of the mountain and enjoy the nice views. We are looking forward to go back already. 100% recommended.

4 restaurants open on different days and different times. Brunch through to dinner. Check website. No need to pre book plenty of tables in all restaurants. Lovely views. Arrive prior to meal with sensible shoes if you wish to walk up hill to viewpoint. On-site parking. Food reasonably priced.

This place was great, the portions were huge, the price was right and the quality was amazing. The servers were all friendly however our order was mixed up, missing items and the kids meal came out last. Not overly a problem and 'things happen'. This being said, if love to go back, would definitely lately return and hopefully up the rating. Chickens and Peacocks were brilliant roosting next to our table.

This place is beautiful and very special! We visited the fish restaurant in the evening. The staff was really friendly and helped us with recommendations. My fish was baked in a salt crust and then flambed and taken apart by a staff member at my table. Both fish dishes were cooked perfectly and tasted great. They came with the typical Canarian salty potatoes and Mojo verde and rojo sauces. My flan dessert was great, only the cake didn't stand out. We then took a look around the amazing place. It used to be a monestary and now houses a fish restaurant, a meat restaurant and a cafe. We did not go into the garden because it was already dark. The staff recommended to come by during the day - next time on Tenerife we definitely will!

Good atmosphere, horrible & rude and unhappy staff. Bad food. Good wines though. Also, ice coffee is 6.5 euros, we found that out a bit too late as asking to the waiter / trying to have a dialogue more than 2 sentences was not really an option (because of their rudeness). I recommend you to go there, drink some wine and get out.

Absolutely amazing food. Especially the fish dishes are outstanding. We loved the ceviche and tuna tartare. Everything is well balanced and tastes so good. It’s one of the places we come back to every time we visit Tenerife.

We had a tasting menu of six items paired with local wine. The wine was truly exceptional — unique, local, and perfectly matched with each course. While the food was good, it wasn’t as memorable as the wine selection, which really stood out and impressed us.

Situated in the quaint narrow cobblestone streets of Garachico, surrounded by banana plantations and the sea, you can find this gem. You can order a tasting menu or a la carte. We had starters and a main course, but throughout our dinner we received small bites to taste. All the ingredients appear to be locally sourced to celebrate the rich foods the islands have to offer. Each dish came with a story by our waiter of where the ingredients were sourced from and how the dish was prepared down to the smallest detail. It was both amazing food and an amazing experience, a highlight of our stay at Tenerife. The prices are absolutely unbeatable for the experience you receive, truly deserving of the Michelin Bib Gourmand accolade. If you want to experience Tenerifian culture, this is a must visit.

El Rebojo has been on our wish list for places to eat for some time and it didn't disappoint. We ate at lunchtime and took the six course tasting menu and two wines suggested by our waiter. The food was delicious and it was lovely to hear in great detail about the ingredients, their local origin and history and the preparation of the dishes. The wines were beautifully paired with the food and once again were local to Tenerife. The staff were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable and made our time with them quite special. We have no hesitation in recommending El Rebojo and it deserves the Michelin accolades it has received.

It's a pretty little restaurant with some of the greatest waiters we've ever had. We visited due to the Michelin recommendation, and were not disappointed. While pricey for the island, the food is remarkable, and I personally think well deserving of a star. The dishes in the tasting menu were well composed, explained, and enthusiastically presented by our two great waiters. The wine pairing was an interesting experience in every aspect as well! Its definitely worth the extra 35€! I wish this restaurant all the best, their well deserved star, and hope I will come there again some day!

Authentic experience of Canary Islands cuisine! El Rebojo was a very pleasant discovery, a perfect way of tasting the true flavours of Canary Islands cuisine and local ingredients. The location is beautiful and the service impeccable. The staff is truly passionate and proud about their culinary traditions, taking the time to walk you through each dish and explaining its origin and concept. The food is gourmet, authentic and delicious - we recommend the discovery menu, amazing experience 😉

Restaurant
Guachinche Bibi y Mana is a must-visit in Taganana village, especially if you're exploring the north-east of the island. The service is quick and attentive, with waiters ready to recommend popular dishes like queso asado and pulpo. The food portions are large and tasty, but some areas for improvement include serving grilled cheese warm instead of hot, rubbery octopus, and a lack of vegetable-based dishes.
Full of tourists, yet still a real local place! The food is delicious, both the grilled cheese and the cheesecake were tasty and well prepared! The coffee is also good, so it served us well as a snack and quick energy recharge after an amazing day of hitchhiking. We also had the fries which were good as well, but sadly we forgot to take pictures. The staff is polite, funny and friendly, they speak English well enough :) Anyway, I recommend this place!

I 100% recommend ! Staff is nice and welcoming and service was extremely fast. The Canary chickpeas, octopus salad and grilled cheese are all very tasty.

We drove past here on the way to the beach and had to stop for lunch. The staff were incredibly friendly and the food was delicious. There were no prices on the menu, but for 3 plates, 2 desserts, 3 coffees & 3 beers the total was 44€.

Such a nice place! Food was delicious and the service really helpful and fast! A lot of options to choose from (only maybe a recommendation to include the price on the menu to have an idea approx of the sizes of the portions)

Had a table of 4 and ate lunch here after a walk up the hills nearby; parking isn’t the easiest but there is some free parking on the street. The staff is super friendly and there is an english menu if you don’t speak spanish. Food was amazing and the cost was incredibly low as well.

The food was good. We ordered calamari salad (12€), potatoes (4€ for two) and fish (10€). The fish was really big and good, but a little bit dry and I missed salt. We got before ordering an appetizer (3 different dips and bread). It was really nice but we didn't know that we had to pay for it. It was in total around 10€. And there were no prices on the menu so we didn't know how much would cost the rest. The atmosphere was really nice.

San Hô Restaurant is a great place to have a delicious meal. The service is excellent and the portions are quite large. There is also a nice selection of delicious local wines available to drink.
What an incredible experience! We visited San Ho to celebrate my partner's birthday and opted for the tasting menu. From start to finish, both the service and food were exceptional. The team walked us through the menu, explaining how they source ingredients from different Canary Islands. I particularly loved the map provided, showing exactly where each dish’s components came from. Each course felt special. The team not only introduced the dish but also shared its origin and the best way to enjoy it. This was incredibly helpful, as the dishes were so creative, I wouldn’t have known what to expect without their guidance. The attention to detail extended beyond the food itself—everything, including the plates and cutlery, changed throughout the meal, which was a delightful touch. Every dish was my favorite… until the next one came! The entire experience was full of surprises and flavor. We’re already planning to return and try the other set menu. For anyone considering it—don’t hesitate! It’s absolutely worth it.

📍: SAN HÔ Adeje Restaurant 这家餐厅位于 La Caleta Tenerife Hotel, Spain. The World Without Borders Restaurant has received one star award from the MICHELIN Guide Spain 2025 and the Repsol Sun Award. There are many types of seats to choose from, such as at the large counter where the safe will cook in front of us in the contemporary dining room with 100% panoramic windows or on the beautiful balcony overlooking the garden and the sea. If there is a chance, I would like to come back again.

A tricky one. Story of the restaurant was good but not completely true, suppliers & produce being from the regions BUT pigeon is from France, etc, etc. I’m not a big fan of chemicals being used in food to achieve a texture. Seemed like there was a lot of that. Some of the courses were amazing like the cauliflower soup (not a consommé), the tuna was delicious, the first of the pickled dishes was spot on & the dessert. The rest was ok. I understand the work that goes into it as I’m a professional chef too but we also pay for it so that can’t be used as an excuse. Then came the bill. We were charged for a large tasting menu when we were served the small tasting menu. An extra of €40 was charged. For that reason I gave the service a 3 star. Our server was brilliant but you are a Michelin starred restaurant so you can’t afford mistakes like that.

An incredible all round dining experience. Superb food, locally sourced. Excellent descriptions of each course. A 3 hour culinary journey. Very expensive but we came away feeling it was good value for money, taking into account the time, effort and thought that had gone into each of the 14 courses.

We recently had the pleasure of having an amazing evening of both beautiful food and wine at San Ho. The care and precision taken to ensure that every course and wine choice was mind boggling. It was a feast for the eyes, mind and tastbuds.. I would definitely recommend that you visit if you have the opportunity. The sommelier made our evening even better.. his choice of wine, care, descriptions and personality made a fantastic evening even more outstanding. Bravo to the chefs and front of house team. You made us very happy!!

Andrew C — Google review
The restaurant brings a very perfect Japanese-inspired fusion kitchen to the table. However, the dishes are very pleasing without too many taste heights. But what is really missing is the soul of the restaurant in the form of a restaurant manager. Such a one was not recognizable. Complaints are also deliberately ignored. So we had a quite burnt brioche, which was cleared after a complaint. On the other hand, no effort was made to find a replacement.

Food was not up to Michelin star standards. Wague was slightly grilled but entirely raw and slimy, we had to request to leave the heated coals on a table so we can come how we like it. Impressed with the taste of oyster and calamari, which were outstanding.

Transportation in Tenerife

Getting around Tenerife can be a little daunting if you’re new here. We can help list some of the major public transportation methods if you don’t want to rely on a car.

Tenerife South Airport

International airport
Airport
Tenerife South Airport, also known as Reina Sofia Airport, is a 1970s structure with convenient bus links to the entire island, including its second international airport, Norte. While Tenerife North offers nature and adventure, Tenerife South provides beach and sun experiences. The south is home to main all-inclusive hotels while the north boasts shelters in national parks. The airport hosts a variety of car rental companies and features water fountains throughout the facility.
Tenerife Airport is a well-organized and convenient facility that caters effectively to travelers’ needs. The cleanliness throughout the airport is notable, with spaces like restrooms and waiting areas kept in good condition. The staff is polite and professional, offering assistance when needed, which helps to streamline the travel experience. The airport is also well-equipped, featuring a range of stores, including duty-free shops and dining options, providing sufficient choices for passengers during their time there. In terms of location, the airport is conveniently situated, making it accessible for travelers heading to or from the surrounding areas.
Reina R — Google review
The airport is clean and well organized. After passing through security and the corridor with shops, you’ll find water refill stations near the toilet entrances, don’t forget to bring your bottle! There are plenty of seating areas, but the chairs aren't suitable for lying down since they have armrests between them. Toilets are clean but could have been better. Also, here’s an important note from the airport’s official website: “The airport terminal is closed to the public from 23:00 to 4:00 hours. During this time, only employees and passengers are allowed access (in the two hours prior to the scheduled departure of their flight).” So if you’re thinking “I’ll just go early spend the night and wait at the airport,” you might want to rethink that plan.

Very good airport. Easy access, working air-conditioning, space and rest places. Staff very helpful and friendly. Highly recommend. Love it.
Krzysztof — Google review
Very easy to navigate, lots of shops if you want them, chill out area or bars too. We needed to charge devices and they had access to hundreds, not just the charging points towers but everywhere, lots of seats, all on one level for easy access and a clear view of everything taking off for the kids to watch.
Donna A — Google review
We arrived at 9:30 AM, and by 9:37 AM, we had already passed through security. In total, it took about 7-10 minutes, which is quite fast. The airport was about 50% full, which makes sense as it’s not the peak of the tourist season. Still, there were plenty of travelers around. Security check was quick and professional, even though the equipment isn’t the newest. The airport itself isn’t huge, but since it’s an international hub, it offers flights to the US and other destinations, making it fairly large in terms of operations. There are a few duty-free shops—not too many, but enough. Prices are reasonable. You’ll also find a Burger King, which is a good option for a quick meal. There are some clothing stores, but nothing too high-end—mostly casual brands. Seating is plentiful, and there are charging stations for phones. Vending machines are available for drinks and snacks. However, there are no horizontal escalators and no smoking rooms—not even for e-cigarettes or IQOS users. The bathrooms are clean, though in one of them, the soap dispensers weren’t working, which was a minor inconvenience. Overall, the airport is well-maintained, clean, and functional. It’s not the most luxurious, but for its size, it’s efficient and comfortable. 📌 Rating: 8/10 – A solid experience with some small areas for improvement.

Worst airport ever. It can easily ruin your trip. The staff cannot answer simple questions, they rather misguide you. No one knows english. Don’t recommend. It may be the reason to not go to Tenerife.

Travelled many times to and from Tenerife South and never had any issues. Staff in the main are very friendly, you get the occasional difficult one because they are wearing a uniform. Transfers are always very easy and check in has always been easy.
Martin S — Google review
Pleasant and bigger than it looks. The airport has ample food places and a good sizes Duty free area. You have the secondary area in C for flights going to the UK with the extra stamping which has shops, coffee and a bar still. The area check in area is easy to navigate, security is a bit of a mess but still runs okay. The whole experience is generally really good. An easy enough airport to pass through.

Tenerife North Airport

International airport
Airport
Tenerife North Airport is a small airport serving the Canary Islands and mainland Spain. Despite its size, it offers a comfortable experience with loungers and charging stations. The terminal is conveniently located near rental car companies, and there are dining options such as a 3-course meal for 11.95 or Burger King. The airport is nestled in the mountains, providing beautiful views during arrival and featuring an interesting runway layout.
Very nice and comfortable local airport Well organized and clean Thanks a lot !
Ilya S — Google review
It's a good airport, a bit small but working well. I don't give 5 stars as it's clearly underdeveloped and the services are of lower level compared to the South airport which I believe is because richer tourists visit the South airport and they focus on them.
Stan — Google review
Tenerife North Airport is, in general, a well-functioning and efficiently managed regional airport that serves as a key gateway to the island’s northern region. The facilities are clean, signage is clear, and the overall passenger flow is relatively smooth, especially considering the airport’s size and volume of traffic. That said, I would suggest a few areas for improvement that could greatly enhance the experience for international travelers. Firstly, the public transportation connectivity to Santa Cruz de Tenerife could be more robust and convenient. While taxis and buses are available, a more direct and frequent link—perhaps a shuttle or extended tram service—would be highly beneficial. During my visit, my flight was delayed due to heavy fog, which, I was told, is a common occurrence at this airport given its location and weather conditions. While this is understandable from an operational safety standpoint, it would be helpful if there were more real-time communication and updates provided to passengers during these delays. Additionally, I noticed a lack of USB charging ports in the waiting areas, something that is increasingly expected by today’s international travelers. Especially for those with long layovers or delays, the ability to charge devices is essential and would be a small but meaningful improvement. In summary, Tenerife North Airport offers a solid travel experience, but a few thoughtful upgrades could bring it in line with modern global standards.

Small airport but well organized and maintained. Arrivals: The bags were already rolling in the pickup area by the time we made our way from the plane inside. The car rental desks are next to the bag pickup lanes. Ciscar seems to be the most popular (based on the size of line). Book Europcar if you're in a hurry. The cars are parked right outside, down one floor. The bus station is right outside as well, down one floor. Departures: Checking is at the entrance, up one floor. There are about 30 stands, all in one line. Security gates are in the middle, between the checking stands. Rental car drop-offs are the same parking spots where picked up. Keys can be handed over in the parking area. There is no need to go back inside.

Gets a bit of a bad rep this place as it’s a small airport. Yes it’s small but it’s probably the comfiest free airport I’ve been to and that’s a lot of airports! Lovely lounger chairs upstairs with charging stations aswell as sofas! You can get a “menu del dia” 3 course meal for €11.95 up the stairs or a Burger King. There is plenty of small coffee shops dotted about but I found these a little pricey. But all in all a great experience in the Noryh airport. Some great views also

Im a traveler who has been all over the world. This airport has the most disgusting bathrooms, not just out of any airport, but out of anywhere on planet earth that i’ve ever been in my entire life. Out of hundreds of thousands of bathrooms in the world, this airport manages to have the most disgusting, which is concerning because the actual airport isn’t that bad.
