Bodies of Water
Kaolin Lake, located in Belitung, is a picturesque destination known for its stunning bright blue waters and white mineral deposits. Once a mining area for kaolinite and tin, the abandoned site has transformed into a popular spot for photography enthusiasts seeking Instagram-worthy shots. The mesmerizing blue hue of the lake is a result of rainwater filling the holes left by years of mining activity. Visitors are captivated by the striking contrast between the vibrant blue water and the white surroundings.
Beautiful sight with different shades of blue in each pool. Very white kaolin “sand”. However accessible area quite small & majority of area not open for public. Good sunrise view if not cloudy. Water looks better during midday (strong sun)
Steffanie O — Google review
Visited on December, but the water of the lake somewhat dried and there's nothing to see. There's no entrance fee, you can just park your vehicle and take a few quick shots with the lake as background.
Amelinda F — Google review
The lake was empty when I arrived there (mid october). Just a few escavators taking away the sand there. And it was an open space, so the sun was super hot while the light was bounced back to our eyes because the whole place is white. The local said it will only be filled with water on December.
EL — Google review
There should be special lesson related to this visit because if we are expecting the beauty of the place we'll regret it. It's dry and hot. You've got to be ready with a lot of miner water. Don't expect you can buy some food also. Thirty minutes staying there is a bit too long. Students above 12 years old are suitable to see and visit this place. It's not really tourist destination place.
Sainur R — Google review
There is really nothing to see, just giant mountain of dunes attracting me
Sylvia H — Google review
Ok, this is a great coloured lake, within an industrial wasteland. However the color is rather greenish. There is a barrier to avoid people going close to the lake, but you can cross it easily for closer shots (and nobody checks) Free entrance.
Koen V — Google review
The view is really amazing. But you just can see it or take a picture from the edge. You can not enter the site. From the food vendor I met, she told me that the lake is for mining purpose instead of tourism permission. So this site is just available to take a picture or enjoy the site from the outside for the tourist.
Eri C — Google review
Kaolin. Such an interesting geographical material on Belitung. I wonder about this place. The water colors in blue and green. The Kaolin itself is the material for ceramic and cosmetics. The pile of sands that create mountainious shape is sand. It such a wonderful place to enjoy the unique place in Belitung island.

Traditional House Belitung, also known as Rumah Panggong or Rumah Gede, is a replica of a classic Belitung home that showcases local culture and history. The architecture reflects the typical style found in coastal areas of Sumatra and Malacca, representing the Malay culture. The house is well-maintained and features displays of Belitung's history and culture. Visitors can learn about the significance of the house's elevated structure and its representation of social status.
An authentic Belitung traditional house. It's elevated off ground, made from wood, complete with displays of Belitung other history and culture. The place is clean and well kept, it's nice and airy too. We spent sometime there looking and sitting around, just like enjoying ourselves at home. There are some caretakers in the house. We had a bit of problem with our vehicle and they were ready to help us even though they didn't need to. The place is also free to enter, which is great because it's still well-maintained.
Buren — Google review
We can see and feel the traditional house of belitong. It's strategically located and it can be seen from the main road. On certain occasions, we can have traditional food as well. It's well preserved.
Sainur R — Google review
This is a cultural introduction location that is quite easy to reach and cheap. There is no ticket price benchmark where we pay sincerely for maintenance and operational costs. Visitors are allowed to take pictures using several typical Belitung properties, the tour guide also explains it straightforwardly. Unfortunately this place is quite old and the property used is not refurbished and is not well maintained.
Fina A — Google review
Traditional House Belitung showcases authentic Belitung architecture complete with traditional furniture and ornaments. Visitors can learn about the island’s history, culture, and past daily life. A great photo spot and an enriching cultural experience.
Kevin K — Google review
Interesting house to visit. Not sure how traditional as the superintendent lived here. It is constructed with all wood. Cooking area seperate from house. On stilts because of critters not flood. Many old photos with Dutch caption. Free to enter.
Wendy C — Google review
Cool, but could be done better. Some small signs with information in Indonesian/English would add a lot of value to this place. Also, why not make postcards of the photographs, some of the pictures are great. I wish there was more context, as an outsider I first drove past the building twice as there is no signage. Secondly, once inside you feel like this could be much more interesting if context or information was given.
Marcus B — Google review
This place is your one-stop place for learning the culture and history of Belitung. It contains traditional clothing, photos, foods, and many more. There aren't many staffs here though, and many items lack description in English so it might be hard to understand for non-Indonesian speakers.

Specialty Museums
Museum & Zoo Tanjungpandan is a unique attraction that offers insights into the geological history of Belitung and Indonesia. The museum showcases various stones and artifacts related to tin mining exploration, providing a comprehensive overview of traditional and modern mining techniques. Visitors can request a guide to learn about the extensive collection, which includes ancient Chinese porcelains and minerals unearthed in Belitung.
The museum have a really deep information and history about belitung and Indonesia, and you can ask for a guide to explain the collection, but sadly the zoo isn't well maintained. Despite the zoo is in a bad condition, this place worth 5 stars considering the ticket price and also for its museum collection, anyone who interested in geology can enjoy the collection to the fullest. Also, the zoo is the place where the huge crocodile in "Rainbow Troops" movie is taken care of.
Muhammad R — Google review
The museum was as good as a small museum in a small city can get, but the zoo was so... sad to see. The cages are all too small, and they have a newborn monkey that i dont think is cared for appropriately. On the flip side, there are a lot of kitties!
Dika H — Google review
This is a cheap museum to visit. 3k rupiah per person. It has an impressive collection of artefacts from lost ships around the island, and a good collection of minerals. Explanations are mainly in Indonesian. In the backyard there is a zoo, but it is in a terrible state, and a real pity for the animals which are left there. Shame.
Koen V — Google review
It's a local musium. You can learn this island history from the exhibitions. The big 4m crocodile in the out side cage is alive. It's value to see.
Fujita K — Google review
At first, i didn't expecting too much but once you enter the museum, there are a lot of exciting things that you could find. If you are an international or local (outside belitung) tourist, you'll be very interested to see some of the origin animals, cultural history of the city from colonialism era and even the most interesting part for me was to see some of the artefacts from million years ago, like what u see in these picture. I heard from the guide that the museum also still attractive from local belitung people where they used to bring their family to enjoy some family time. Additional info: The toilets are clean, overall place also clean and the collections are well mantained

This place tells us the story about Belitung from A to Z. They have two large crocodile which were used on the Laskar Pelangi Movie. They also have a collection of minerals dugged in Belitung. They also have a collection of ancient chinese porcelains left up by historical wanderers. This is place to learn about how malayans and chinese mixed up well.
FX F — Google review
Museum Tanjung Pandan have collection of treasure from ships that sank from a few centuries ago. As well as the Tanjung Pandan war weapons collection. The museum is well maintained and behind the museum there is a zoo. Unfortunately the zoo collection is very small and not well maintained
Melan R — Google review
The museum is housed in the main building on just 1 floor and the zoo is at the back of the main building in the outdoor garden. The musuem has lots of pottery and mineral samples from the mining industry. Outside in the garden is just a pair of deer, 3 crocodiles, 2 squirrels, and many birds of various types. Entrance fee is Rp 3,000 per person or about SGD 30cents.

Tanjung Pendam Beach, located in the Town of Tanjungpandan, is a popular spot known for its sandy stretch adorned with pavilions and backed by low-key bars and cafes. The beach covers an area of around 22 hectares and faces Kalamoa Island. It also features places of worship for the Tionghoa society. Visitors can enjoy various facilities such as a recreation park, entertainment stage, restaurant, art market, sport arena, and shelters.
It's a good place for spending time in the afternoon here, watching for sunset. When I visited this place on a Sunday afternoon, it was loaded by people. But it's worth it, caused the sunset here is really beautiful and also the ambiance. The entrance ticket is very affordable. Around the beach, there are some restaurants.

Pantai Bukit Berahu is a small beach with cottages and an old resort located near the main road, making it a convenient stop on the way to other attractions like Tanjung Tinggi Beach. The area is mostly inhabited by fishermen, but there are inns and cottages available for visitors. It's a great spot for capturing stunning sunrise and sunset photos, but it's important to keep the coast clean as there may be some litter around.
Mostly live by fisherman (Kampung Nelayan) but you can find an Inn such as Cottage with small swimming pool around. Nice place to take picture while sunrise and sunset. I suggest as visitor please kindly keep clean the coast from garbages. It provides some trash bin. Please be preapre enough cash because no ATM & limited EDC machine to swipe CC or Debit Card to make transactions

To get in to this beach, you must pay for 10k rupiahs/person, which you can change the ticket with free mineral water or coffe/tea in the restaurant inside. When I visited this place, it's no other visitors, so I felt like having my private beach. It's a nice beach with the wave is calm, so it's safe to swim here.

(Translated by Google) The food is quite good. But the service is astaghfirullah. The seller is rude, when she talks she gets angry. If we ask questions, her answers are curt. I always get yelled at when I want to ask 😭😭. If you're tired, just go home and sleep, don't work, ma'am. The price is inconsistent, sometimes a pack of rice with grilled chicken is 18 thousand, the next day it can be 20 thousand even though it uses the same side dish. The price changes depending on the rude lady's mood. The cleanliness is also a bit lacking. Hopefully it will be accepted. Thank you. (Original) The food is quite good. Tapi pelayanannya astaghfirullah. Mba mba penjualnya jutek, kalau ngomong sambil marah2. Kalau kita nanya jawabnya ketus. Selalu aku dibentak kalau mau nanya😭😭. Kalau capek pulang aja tidur di rumah gausah kerja, mba. Harga ga konsisten, kadang sebungkus nasi pake ayam bakar 18rb, besoknya bisa jadi 20rb padahal pakai lauk yg sama. Harga berubah2 tergantung mood mbanya yg jutek itu. Kebersihannya juga agak kurang. Semoga diterima. Terima kasih.

Ratu Rasa Seafood is a popular restaurant located in downtown Tanjung Pandan, Belitung. It opens at 5 pm and offers a variety of seafood options, including live crab and frozen fish that can be selected from their fridge. The restaurant features a large aquarium with an arowana that kids love to watch. Customers praise the great food, particularly highlighting the freshness of the seafood and the generous portion sizes at reasonable prices.
the food is scrumptious especially the smoke crab...definitely will go to this restaurant again. 👍

A local seafood restaurant with fresh ingredients and great local taste. BTW, on the day I visited it was late afternoon, it took about 45 minutes to get food served while we are the only table. In a normal lunch or dinner time, it might be faster I guess.
Krittin ( — Google review
This is another local restaurant serving local dishes. IMHO, there is nothing extraordinary about the cooking. But yes, the ingredients are fresh seafood so yes, is worth the visit. This is sort of a family restaurant so no need to dress up. Try the crab, IMHO is the most delicious meal.

I met the Ratu of the Restaurant and also Chef Thiam who have cooked for more than 10 years ... The taste of his cookings are superb, "lain dari yang lain" extra ordinary ... Try the Crabs dishes and ask the Chef to crack open the crab to make it easy to eat them ....

This resto provides a very tasty seafood with reasonable price and in a big portion. The location is a bit stretched from city center, but not too far and it's located just beside the main road. We ordered kepiting (crab) saus padang, cumi (squid) goreng tepung, and kangkung cah biasa, with ice tea and mineral water. We choosed the crab to be cooked since the price will depend on the size of the crab. We were being told that it'll take around 30 minutes due to there were so many visitors. It took around 30 minutes, but the taste worth the wait. And it costed us only 200k IDR. Considering the taste and quantity, personally I think that's quite cheap.

This spacious restaurant boasts ample parking and an inviting atmosphere where guests can select their fresh seafood right before their eyes. A must-try dish here is the Gonggong (snail), alongside a flavorful Tomyum Soup that promises to tantalize your taste buds.

The restaurant is big and have large parking lot. They place the seafood on the left side, so you can see or choose the seafood that you want. If you come to this restaurant, you must try the Gonggong (snail), Seafood and the Tomyum Soup. The price is a bit pricey, but overall it's okay. They provide a karaoke service if you love to sing.

Some notes during our visit : 1. The place is big with lots of parking lots 2. All of their staffs were really friendly, helpful with quick served 3. Their food were soo tasty & fresh. The fish meat was really tender. Our fave is fish/crab/prawn cooked with saus padang, saus tiram & tumis kangkung terasi, very delicious ! 4. Better come in the morning/noon, because they still have lots of food choices. If you come on dinner time, most of their best seller dishes ussually already sold out 5. Really recommended to try when visit Tanjung Pandan 👍👍

THE BEST SUNSET I EVER SEEN! Too calm, beautiful and mysterious 💕 best time to visit : up to 4 o'clock to 6 pm My advice : please go immedately after the sunset, because the route back has no lighting around and will be so dark

The Open Pit Nam Salu Geosite in Belitung is truly a hidden treasure waiting to be discovered. This serene location offers a peaceful escape, especially if you visit early in the morning when crowds are minimal. The journey to the pit involves a bit of trekking—about 15 minutes uphill from the dirt driveway—but it's well worth it for the breathtaking views that await at the top.
We rented a car with driver to bring us around. But this was a little hard for the driver to locate. I would say that this is a really nice place to visit. It was really quiet and we don't see a lot of tourist here. You get to enjoy the place and explore around. I love the small entrance where you can find a lot of bats in it!

I visited here without any tour service. I found it on google. I come to this place almost dawn. Need to do trekking about 15 minutes. Not really sure toward path I take and almost take step back hahaha. But in the end, I found a beautiful one ! I must visit this place again in the afternoon to get dramatical water view of the pound.

What a hidden gem! Very quiet and beautiful place. Completely feels like finding a secret place! Highly recommended if you want to see something different

We rented our own car and managed to find the entrance to the pit via this Google map location. We parked along the entrance and hiked our way in. Its straight up the hill from the dirt driveway. There are 2 small checkpoints along the way. Bring an umbrella or a big hat. There is No shade at the top of the hill. The view is magnificent and you'll want the sun on full blast to get a nice shot.

This place is so cool and such a hidden gem in Belitung. I was the only one there, so it was so peaceful. The path up to locate tge pit is not too bad vut i definitely recvomend wearing sneakers. I did get extremely lost getting there however, so if you are using Google maps make sure to put in the English name- open pit- instead of the Indonesian; otherwise, you end up in a huge forest of palm trees... which was cool, too, but a bit frustrating.

At the time that we visit, the lake water isn't at it's perfect color.. Must be very pretty in summer.. Soil & rock path, in rainy season will be muddy..

If you go Tanjung Pendam beach you must visit this restaurant and try their Fish Head Gangan or Red snapper Gangan. Their Fried Squid and Grilled fish are also very good.
