The Arulmigu Arunachaleswarar Temple, also known as Annamalaiyar Temple, is a sacred Hindu shrine located in Thiruvannamalai, Tamilnadu. This magnificent temple complex dedicated to Lord Shiva features six sculpted towers that reach up to 66 meters high.
About Temple Truly divine temple of Lord Shiva representing the Agni Lingam of the Pancha Bhoota Lingams. It took us around 5 hours for free darshan on a weekday. It is highly recommended to take the ₹50 Speed Darshan which starts from the East Gate (Rajagopuram). The management could be better though. Also try the Tamarind Rice prasadam which costs ₹10—it is very delicious. Giri Pradakshina After completing darshan, don’t forget the Giri Pradakshina, a 14 km long circuit around the Arunachala mountain. The starting point is also the East Gate (Rajagopuram). On the way you will find 8 Shiva Lingams (Ashta Lingams)—Indra, Agni, Yama, Niruthi, Varuna, Vayu, Kubera, and Eshanya. Traditionally this pradakshina is done barefoot, though some people also wear socks. Along the way, there is the Sri Ramana Ashram, which is a must visit. For context, this temple is one of the Pancha Bhoota Sthalams, representing Fire (Agni). The other four are: Earth (Prithvi Lingam) – Ekambareswarar Temple, Kanchipuram Water (Jala Lingam) – Jambukeshwarar Temple, Trichy Air (Vayu Lingam) – Sri Kalahasti Temple, Andhra Pradesh Sky/Space (Akasha Lingam) – Chidambaram Nataraja Temple, Tamil Nadu

Arunachaleshwarar Temple, one of the sacred Pancha Bhoota Lingas, represents the element of fire (Agni). The temple is grand and showcases remarkable Dravidian architecture. Many devotees also undertake the holy Girivalam (circumambulation of the Arunachala hill), which is believed to bring spiritual purification and divine blessings. There are free entry and ₹50 special darshan options available. On a regular weekend, the darshan time can take around 2 to 3 hours. Overall, it’s an amazing spiritual experience filled with devotion and divine energy. Om Namah Shivaya.

My visit to Sri Arunachaleswarar Temple in Tiruvannamalai was one of the most spiritually uplifting experiences I’ve ever had. The moment you step into the temple complex, you can sense an aura of deep devotion and peace. It’s not just a place of worship — it’s a sacred space where you can genuinely feel the presence of Lord Shiva as Arunachaleswarar, the embodiment of the element of fire (Agni Lingam). The temple is massive and majestic, covering several acres with beautifully carved stone pillars, tall gopurams (towers), and centuries of history etched into every corner. The main sanctum is awe-inspiring, and the darshan of Lord Arunachaleswarar and Goddess Unnamulai Amman fills you with an indescribable sense of calm and divinity. The architecture reflects the brilliance of ancient Dravidian style — intricate carvings, detailed sculptures, and the grand Raja Gopuram, which stands as one of the tallest temple towers in India. Visiting early in the morning or during evening deeparadhana (aarti) adds a mystical charm to the experience. Another highlight is the Girivalam (circumambulation) around the sacred Arunachala Hill, a practice that attracts devotees from all over the world. Walking the 14 km path around the hill, especially on full moon days, is a deeply spiritual journey in itself — peaceful, reflective, and transformative. The temple is also well-maintained and organized. Despite the large crowds, the darshan process is managed smoothly. The town itself is vibrant and filled with ashrams, meditation centers, and devotees from different spiritual paths, giving Tiruvannamalai a truly cosmic energy. Overall, my visit to Sri Arunachaleswarar Temple was not just a trip — it was a soulful experience that left me feeling blessed and centered. I would highly recommend this temple to anyone seeking spiritual growth, peace, or simply a deeper connection with the divine

Very peaceful and divine place. Arunachaleswarar Temple in Tiruvannamalai is truly powerful — Lord Shiva’s presence can be felt everywhere. The temple is well maintained, clean, and beautifully built. The Girivalam (Giripradakshina) around the holy Arunachala hill is around 14 km — a wonderful spiritual walk filled with devotion and positive energy. Best time is early morning or full moon days. Must visit for anyone who loves spirituality, peace, and nature. Om Namah Shivaya 🙏 #Tiruvannamalai #LordShiva
Manikanta R — Google review
Arunachaleshwara Temple has impressive scale and architecture, spiritual significance as one of the Pancha Bhoota Sthalam (Agni or fire), and the importance of the Girivalam (circumambulation of the Annamalai hill). It has a powerful, spiritual atmosphere, noting that the temple can be very crowded, especially during festivals or special events like Karthigai Deepam or full moon days., but also that early morning visits offer a more serene experience. Commonly mentioned engineering marvels of the temple, such as the massive stone construction and the mysterious shadow of the vimana and the spiritual energy of the place. You can pre-book just before 2-3 hours for darshan and can be booked both online and offline to avoid the long queues for darshan. Puja items are sold around the temple area.

🔥 A Pillar of Inner Strength: The Arunachaleswarar Temple To step into the presence of Arunachaleswarar Temple is to stand before an ancient, unwavering pillar of cosmic fire—a powerful metaphor for the unshakeable truth within your own soul. This isn't just a structure of stone; it is the physical manifestation of Arunachala Hill, believed to be Shiva himself in the form of an infinite column of light and fire (Agni Lingam). Let the very essence of this sacred place inspire you. Just as the towering temple gopurams reach for the sky, they remind you of your own potential for limitless growth and reaching for your highest ideals. As you walk the Girivalam path around the hill, remember that life is a journey of constant return to the self, a sacred circumambulation that purifies and strengthens. Feel the deep peace left by sages like Sri Ramana Maharshi, who found the ultimate reality here. Let the silence of the surroundings guide you inward, where all your answers reside. Arunachala beckons you to shed what is transient and connect with your eternal, fiery core—the part of you that is unconquerable, brilliant, and whole. You are that light. Be brave, be still, and let the timeless energy of this holy place fuel your most profound transformation.

Arunachaleswarar Temple), Tamil Nadu 🙏🔥 Thiruvannamalai Temple, also known as Arunachaleswarar Temple, is one of the most sacred and powerful Shiva temples in India. Dedicated to Lord Arunachaleswarar (Lord Shiva), who is worshipped here in the form of Agni (fire) — one of the Pancha Bhoota Lingas — this temple radiates immense spiritual energy. The temple is massive and majestic, with beautifully carved gopurams (towers) and long corridors that showcase the finest example of Dravidian architecture. The Annamalai Hill (Arunachala) behind the temple adds to its divine aura — it’s believed to be Lord Shiva himself in the form of a mountain. Pilgrims from across India visit for Girivalam (circumambulation of the hill), especially on full moon days, which is a deeply spiritual and energizing experience. The temple’s evening deepa (lamp lighting) and the atmosphere filled with chants and devotion make it a truly unforgettable visit. Overall, Thiruvannamalai Temple is not just a temple but a spiritual experience — a place where faith, peace, and divine energy come together. A must-visit for every devotee of Lord Shiva. 🕉️🔥✨

Nestled in the serene landscape of Arunachala, Skandasramam is a captivating destination that invites travelers to embark on a short yet rewarding trek. Starting from the northwest corner of the Arunachaleshwar Temple, this well-marked path leads you through charming homes and lush surroundings, taking approximately 30 minutes to reach Skandasramam. This sacred site holds deep significance as it was once home to Sri Ramana Maharshi and his mother.
It is a moderately difficult trek up the Arunachala hill with the entrance from inside Ramana Ashramam. I chose to go barefooted and went in the morning itself. Several monkeys roam about. Do not carry any visible food or colourful packets with you. Wear a cap, light coloured and loose cotton clothes, carry a water bottle in a sling bag or small back pack. The view of the town and the four gopurams is magnificent. It is advisable to maintain silence and chant Om Namah Shivaya mentally as one climbs up the hill. Om the way small shops selling fresh orange juice, buttermilk, watermelon slices, and hand carved sculptures are there. Lot of elderly beggars both men and women around seeking alms, use your discretion to grant alms, money, or food. A truly memorable experience.

Most peaceful and calming. Very good for meditation Can even do meditation inside the shrine where Ramana himself performed meditation for years To get the real power and true himself, one must be in absolute SILENCE Trek is very long amidst nature with birds and monkeys Can find household items, utensils, bed, books, etc used Ramana himself in the small room at the right side At the entrance big book stall with plenty of wisdom Peacocks everywhere 😍

Upon arrival at this location, you will have the opportunity to experience a facet of Sanathana Dharma. The path leading to this destination may fade from your memory as you immerse yourself in the delights of nature. While en route, you may encounter monkeys, but rest assured, they pose no threat. The ascent of the hill can be undertaken with a sense of tranquility.

Very calm place. Bhagavan Ramana maharishi stayed here with his mother. After his mother's mukthi he went down to hill (ramana ashram) for convenience of his devotees. This is very suitable place for meditation. And almost holy water from arunachala hill is also available here through pipe line in front of the ashram. Opening time is 8.30am to 12.00am and 2.00pm to 4.30pm

Virupaksha Cave is a significant meditation spot located on the eastern slope of Arunachala Hill. It was once inhabited by the 13th-century Saint Virupaksha Deva. The trek to reach this cave takes about 30 minutes from Skandasramam, with clear and well-paved trails and markings along the way. Visitors can access it via Ramana Ashram or the backside of Annamalayar temple Gopuram (Pe Gopuram).
You must be entally and physically prepared to visit here it's bit hard climb the hill but after climbing you will feel ashonished. You can witness the whole city view and temple view. Worth climbing the hill and virupakshna cave is nice to see. The overall experience was highly recommended for youngsters but hard for aged people

Virupaksha Cave, Tiruvannamalai – A Sacred Hermitage of Silence and Enlightenment 🔹 Historical Background Virupaksha Cave is a small, serene cave located on the slopes of Arunachala Hill in Tiruvannamalai, Tamil Nadu. This cave is deeply tied to the spiritual history of the region and is most famously associated with Sri Ramana Maharshi, the revered Indian sage. But long before Ramana Maharshi's time, the cave was named after Virupaksha Deva, a 13th-century Shaivite saint and disciple of Guhai Namasivaya, who also meditated on Arunachala. Virupaksha Deva attained samadhi here, and the cave was sanctified as a spiritual abode. In the early 1900s (circa 1899-1916), Ramana Maharshi spent about 17 years living in and around this cave in deep meditation. This period is considered the foundation of his spiritual path and teaching. Many devotees began visiting him here, and it laid the groundwork for the eventual establishment of the Sri Ramanasramam. ✨ Atmosphere and Ambience As you approach Virupaksha Cave, the hustle of Tiruvannamalai town fades behind. The walk is a short uphill trail from Ramanasramam, shaded by trees and surrounded by the spiritual vibrations of Arunachala. The silence deepens as you ascend. The cave itself is modest and well-maintained. From the outside, it appears as a small stone structure built into the hill, but once inside, you're immediately enveloped by an atmosphere of stillness. It’s dim, cool, and deeply tranquil — a space where silence is palpable. 🧘‍♂️ Spiritual Significance This isn't just a historical site — it's a living center of sadhana (spiritual practice). Many seekers come here to sit in silence, meditate, or simply absorb the powerful spiritual vibrations left behind by Ramana Maharshi’s intense tapas (austerities). The cave feels timeless — not in a metaphorical way, but in a tangible sense. It is said that meditation here is deeper than in most other places. For those on the spiritual path, even a short sit in this cave can be profound. 🥾 Trekking and Path The path to Virupaksha Cave is part of the larger Arunachala Hill trail, often visited by pilgrims during Girivalam (circumambulation). The trek is manageable, but proper footwear is advisable as the terrain can be rocky in parts. You'll also pass Skandasramam, another significant cave where Ramana Maharshi later resided. 🔹 Tips for Visitors 🕒 Timings: Usually open from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, but closed during midday for maintenance or when the hill is restricted. 🧴 Carry water, especially in summer months. 🙏 Silence is highly respected. Switch off your phone and sit quietly. 📷 Photography is generally discouraged inside the cave. 🚫 No shoes or loud conversation near the cave. 🔹 Overall Experience Virupaksha Cave is not just a site to see, but a place to feel and experience. Whether you’re a spiritual seeker, a lover of history, or someone just curious about India's mystical landscape, this place will leave a lasting impression. It stands as a symbol of inner journey, a cave where the body is still but the soul awakens. You don’t need to be a Ramana devotee to sense the power here — the cave speaks in silence.
Subramanya B — Google review
This is a nice 20 minutes hike on a stone paved trail. Nature lover and spiritual seekers should explore this place of historical importance. People actually meditate in this small peaceful cave. Enjoyed the visit.

Profoundly peaceful and powerful energy field. Must visit if you’re looking to connect with Ramana’s frequency on a deeper level. I meditated in silence for about 4 hours and felt a sense of awakening and peace that is hard to describe in words. Grateful for the opportunity to experience this in my lifetime.

We went thru Agni lingam temple street that connects back of the Ramanashram to the Skandashram and Virupaksha cave trail. The trail was about 1.5kms one way. A high-vibe power place. Meditation and presence are strong here—the mind drops almost instantly into silence. It’s about a 30-minute moderate hike up the mountain from Ramana Ashram. Beautiful nature and a peaceful atmosphere. Bring a walking stick for the monkeys—they can be brazen little bag snatchers, lol.

Arunachaleshwar Temple Kulam is a significant Shiva temple, representing the fire element and holding great spiritual importance. The temple boasts magnificent architecture, beautiful gopurams, and intricate sculptures. Visitors are advised to plan their visit carefully due to heavy crowds and high temperatures during the day. It's recommended to start the girivalam pilgrimage in the evening when the temperature decreases and chant om namaha shivaya throughout.
Om shivaya namah. Don't visit during the full moon days, especially family if you have kids. The temple atmosphere is good.

5 Star for the temple and ambience. As others mentioned. But the management staff is way too arrogant, they just yell at you and treat you ill forgetting the fact, you travelled hundreds of kilometres to have a divine bliss. They just spoil the serenity in a moment yelling at you, not communicating properly, not telling you directions when asked and ready to quarell Priests are very greedy. They offer vibuthi in packets only if you drop big notes in harathi plate. I was really disappointed with priests greed, they got such a fortune of being in the sanctum . When you put 50 or 100 in plate, they recieve you differently. At a temple of that stature priests have to be well behaved as in tirupati. I remember an old priest has pushed my spouse away very angrily, just for asking an pinch of vibuthi more and scolded us tamil during one of our visit. Same person was smiling when another devotee offered a note, he handed over 2 special packets of vibuthi. He could have softly refused when asked , but I could see the frustration in his face as he missed an opportunity to earn money. It is better if the management sells vibuthi packets directly in counters as they already selling tamarind rice, pongal and other prasad, instead of taking from priest. This will give pleasant darshan experience to devotee and prevents unnesccary emotions to both devotee and priest. Both can focus on god, leaving their ahankara atleast in the sanctum in front of lord arunachaleswara.... Most temples in Andhra have boards mentioning to Drop your offerings in hundi only. This simple change can improve devotee experience about temple, spirituality, and culture Arunchala siva.

The beauty of our country is our marvellous ancient temples which have been continuously worshipped for over a 1000 years. The Arunachalesvara Temple in Thiruvannamalai also known as annamalaiyar temple has a great ‘stala Puraanam’ literally translated as history of the place. This is one of the pancha bootha (5 elements) Stalas of Shiva representing Agni .. effectively we need to burn our ego is the moral here. The temple is over 1000 years old and built in 7th century by the cholas. The hill behind the temple is revered as a form of Arunachalesvara and circumambulation ( girivalam) is done every Pournami (full moon day) by ardent devotees. The Naayanmaars who are The greatest devotes and have written the holy Tevaaram have mentioned this place and the great Saiva saint poet Manickavasagar has composed his Thiruvempaavai here. Parvathi the consort of shiva is called Unnamalai Amman here . This huge temple is considered as the largest temple of Shiva in the world. Pictures of our visit

This is the 2nd temple you visit as part of Girivalam. Agnilingam represents the Lingam worshipped by the God of Fire. This temple is situated on the side of Gorivalam road, about 3kms from the Arunachala temple of Tiruvannamalai. I went through autorickshaw, the driver charged me around rs 300. The temple is a very small one, but well maintained. Worshipping this Lingam helps devotees get relief from disease, to maintain good health and also helps them face problems and difficulties in their lives.

The Agni Lingam has south-east as its direction. It is situated close to Seshadri Ashram on Chengam road and is the only Lingam located on the right side of the Girivalam Path. Lord Chandra (Moon) is the dominant Navagraha of Agni Lingam. Lord Agni, is the God of the fire of Knowledge. He has seven hands and seven tongues. Agni is the light of the lives of all creatures and is invoked in the performance of Homa. His vehicle is the goat Saga who serves as the sacrificial beast in the fires of Homa. Worshipping this Lingam helps devotees get relief from disease, to maintain good health and also helps them face problems and difficulties in their lives.

But there is no room facility here that is worth Rs. 1500. No discipline. When we ask about any facility regarding the room.. the office member behaves very rudely and he cannot give respect to the customer. Please don't choose to stay in the room.

Great spiritual place, it is an Ashrama dedicated to Sheshadri Swami - A great Siddha of Tiruvannamalai. The ashram is adjacent to Sri Ramanasramam and has beautiful, quiet atmosphere. Accomodation can be had on arrival, but not for single person. Sheshadri Swami Samadhi, Uma Amma Samadhi, Dakshinamurthy and Ambal statues are places of worship and devotion. There is a small but beautiful garden with cement benches , from which Arunachala view can be had. The meditation hall at the back is generally empty and quiet. Overall excellent place for spiritual aspirants.

The person at the reception centre in shri seshadri swamigal ashramam is very careless and very irresponsible, not even responding properly, when I asked a day before for accommodation through phone, he answered me that, pls come we will allot/provide, on belief I started that day, but when reached their with my family he was very careless answered that no rooms are available here and said pls go, again I once again requested also he not at all answered me, I was very troubled that day to search a private room their because it was three days holidays continuously and all hotels, rooms were filled their. I was also tried next day also same response from him i.e. no vacant available here pls leave, even I am saying him that u have answered in phone that pls come we will provide accommodation. Finally I was very disturbed thier and returned. Therefore, I request the ashram authorities to instruct the receptionist to be kind at the pilgrims as we came their from longer distances and also request to kindly provide pakka information with regard to availability of rooms or not, or else faith on ashram may damage and also pilgrims may fell very trouble who visit to arunachalam with your confused communication. Thank u.

This is a very quiet place with no traffic sounds inside the ashram. There ia accomdiation available here but you need to call up their office and find availability. The rooms may be quite old as thia ia very old ashram. But the inside campus is very tranquile. There is a small foor canteen inside the Ashram on payment basis. The taste is just ok and rates are obviously cheeper compared to commercial hotels outside. You can spend some quite time inside th ashram freely f you need to.

Sri Ramanashram, also known as Sri Ramanasramam, is the ashram which was home to modern sage and Advaita master Ramana Maharshi from 1922 until his death in 1950. It is situated at the foot of the Arunachala hill, to the west of Tiruvannamalai, Tamil Nadu, where thousands of seekers flocked to be in his presence. Niranjananda Swami, younger brother of Ramana Maharshi, who had moved to the ashram along with his mother in 1916, stayed at the ashram for the rest of his life and handling its management. His son and grandson have looked after the ashram in turn

North Indian restaurant
Auro Usha Restaurant is a charming eatery located in Tiruvannamalai, Tamil Nadu. Situated near Ramanasramam and Sheshedri Ashram, it's a favorite spot for rickshaw drivers. The restaurant offers a diverse menu featuring Indian dishes, Western-style omelets, fried rice, potato dishes, and Italian-flavored items.
Such an aesthetic beauty❤️ it's a vegetarian cafe. Food was yummy. Service was excellent 5/5 stars I was blown away by the flavors and hospitality at Auto Usha Vegetarian Restaurant! The moment I walked in, I felt welcomed by the cozy ambiance and friendly staff. The menu offered a wide variety of creative vegetarian dishes, and I opted for the chapathi and paneer butter masala. Both were incredibly tasty and fresh, with generous portion sizes. The prices were very reasonable, especially considering the high quality of the food. What truly made my experience stand out, however, was the exceptional service. The staff were attentive, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic about the menu. They made great recommendations and ensured that I felt at home. Auto Usha Vegetarian Restaurant is a true gem for vegetarians and foodies alike. I can't wait to return and explore more of their offerings! - Food: 5/5 - Ambiance: 5/5 - Service: 5/5 - Value: 4.5/5 Don't miss their signature vegetable salads and varieties of smoothies. Also, be sure to ask the staff for recommendations, as they're always happy to help.

Do not go!!. I warn again, Do not go!! Even after reading the bad reviews about half cooked food, I went inside only because of the heat outside. And, they didn't disappoint me with their worst food. I have even told the Manager over there, she was not ready to listen and cut me in the middle and let go, only because other customers would listen to my complaint. I left the food as I couldn't have and came out, the same can be in the pictures. It's better to have at other restaurants, than here. The prices are very heavily charged, which is not worth it.

Really loved this place! I actually went in just to use the washroom, but the vibes of this place pulled me in It has such a calm and spiritual vibe, almost like being in an ashram with a little library where you can see books around. The ambience is peaceful, the food is amazing, and the cheese garlic toast I had was just perfect. Definitely not missing this place whenever I go to Tiruvannamalai again.

We were there for brunch and dinner for 2 days. Dessert was also nice. It was a good experience. Ambience was good, staff were helpful and pleasant. Food was really good and served soon. Its the go to place for eggeterians and vegetarians. Price was reasonable. Would love to go there anytime we visit Tiruvannamalai again.

Tried the Gobi Dry here, and unfortunately, it was quite disappointing. The cauliflower was undercooked, making it tough and unpleasant to bite into. The flavor was average at best, and the dish lacked the crispiness and seasoning expected from a good Gobi Dry. Overall, the food quality didn’t live up to the mark, and the dining experience was just okay. Hope the restaurant improves on consistency and cooking standards.

Nestled amidst the ancient streets of Tiruvannamalai, Auro Usha Restaurant beckons with its tantalizing aromas and warm hospitality. As a wanderer seeking refuge from the mundane, I stumbled upon this hidden gem, and it left an indelible mark on my soul. Auro Usha’s menu reads like a poetic anthology. The masala dosas, crisp and golden, evoke memories of monsoon mornings. The fragrant biryani, a symphony of spices, transports you to distant lands. And oh, their filter coffee – a celestial elixir that awakens the senses! Ambiance: Step inside, and time slows down. The walls adorned photographs whisper stories of bygone eras. Sunlight filters through the windows, casting intricate patterns on the mosaic floor. It’s as if the restaurant cradles the memories of countless conversations, laughter, and shared dreams.

I wasn't expecting much, I asked for advice on a dish and settled on an onion, garlic, potato dish with fried eggs on top. It was delicious and an ample portion. I don't know of other dishes, I plan to return again but I'll probably order the potato dish again. I may ask for extra eggs which would rock. Service was fine, staff was helpful not only in recommendations, but also scanning in the wifi code.

😭 I have tasted most amature fried rice and brocolli soup from this restaurant. Please guys please rework on your Chinese dishes. The fried rice is not fired it has the consistency of a tamarind rice, it is soggy. Why is a fried rice soggy ? Please try only Indian dishes in this restaurant, my friend tried tomato rice and it worked out for him .

When in Tiruvannamalai, make sure to visit the German Bakery for a delightful dining experience. Unlike other places in town, this bakery offers a variety of Western vegetarian dishes that are far from primitive. The kitchen staff showcases their talent through delicious Nepali specialties and soups, as well as leafy salads with an assortment of fresh greens and dressings. Additionally, they serve crispy French fries and delectable chocolate balls.
best eatery in town :) a handful of mostly nepali guys work hard all day to deliver best quality food to hungry westerners. the place is on the rooftop of a building, simple setup, but with charm, very shanti and good vibes. we loved it. you may try lasagna tofu, absolutely great. five stars.

This is my favorite restaurant in Tiruvannamalai. The food is very good and clean. The staff is very friendly. It is very well organized and the food the offer is the type of food I like. Western, organic, gluten free. If you want indian food there are so many other places here. They also sell bread an cake for take way. Sometimes a bit crowded. But that just shows that people like the food and the atmosphere.

I've been coming here for years and the quality has remained consistent and great. Their scrambled tofu is a long term favourite, also their baked tofu with rice, teas, smoothies and avocado salads. Their momos are great. Service is relaxed and cannot always be rushed. The atmosphere can be noisy when full but still always relaxing. Great view of the hill as well.

The location is convenient and the setting is lovely. They open early so breakfast is sorted. They have a nice group of staff. I found the menu selection quite limited. They also have freshly baked bread and pastries, but for example the croissant isn't baked properly! It's only croissant-shaped so don't expect more. The cinnamon scroll was nice but slightly over sweet. It's OK. I wouldn't rate it as a favourite.

Rudraksh is a vegetarian restaurant located near Rajagopuram, offering delicious and reasonably priced food in a pleasant hotel ambience. The seating is comfortable, and the staff, while a bit slow, are friendly and supportive. Some find the dishes to be too spicy but appreciate the star hotel-like feeling of the place. It's a great spot to enjoy a meal before or after visiting the nearby temple.
Resturant Rudraksh..I went to this restaurant when I stayed in Hotel Arunachala..the staff is extremely curtious and very friendly..You must try their authentic meals in the afternoon..the food is extremely good ..their coconut 🥥🌴 chutney is next level..if you want to experience authenic tamil nadu food try this restaurant..Thrisha too care of us so well ..infact I had my meals only coz of her suggestion and her warm welcome was highly appreciative ..good job folks

The person who designed the restaurant had no idea or concept of space. People who work and customers would need to move to get to the table. Why have space there, it is similar to city planning with out roads. The bathroom is a mess, no ventilation, soiled and not cleaned. Smell of uric acid from urine and nothing else. The staff of the place is good and they treat you and other well. This is a good positive thing in this place. Second good thing, is the veg meals. No fuss, simple good food, no acid reflex after eating. Suggesting have a few foot messaging machines, will be good and also attract customers.

Very disappointed with the service at this hotel. The food quality was extremely poor — honestly, even regular street food tastes far better than what they serve here. The staff was careless and not attentive to guests’ needs, which made the experience even worse. Not at all worth the money. I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for good food or proper hospitality

Sri Ramanasramam, located in Tiruvannamalai (Arunachalam), is a serene ashram complex that holds great spiritual significance. It is a must-visit destination near the main temple, offering a tranquil atmosphere for meditation and prayer rituals. The ashram features a Hindu shrine, library, and tree-lined grounds where visitors can immerse themselves in peaceful contemplation.
It's a place where I feel utmost peace. The ashram is full of trees and greenery. It's a very good place for meditation as they have separate meditation halls. You see birds everywhere and particularly, peacocks make you feel happy. Through the Ashram, there is a way to Virupaksha cave and city view point from the top of the Arunachala hill. The whole journey towards the cave, makes you refresh and gives you an experience of trekking with bare feet. They have washrooms as well with well maintained. There is a big book stall as well. So, Such an amazing place to visit once in a lifetime.

I visited the ashram roughly after 5 years or so. This time I found quite a considerable number of visitors, more so youngsters or families with kids, which was surprising for a weekday after noon. The solitude atmosphere was no longer seen inside the ashram. But it was very noteworthy that despite the presence of so much crowd, there was comparatively very little noise. However, parking has become quite difficult. The area outside the ashram has been totally taken over by auto rickshaws and some of them even blocking the way.

One of the best places to visit . I am requesting each and every person who is visiting Arunachalam please visit this ashram also. No photos and videos are allowed inside the ashram . But while going to the hilltop we can take but be cautious with the monkey. But one small issue is there if you drop the slippers in the ramana maharshi ashram when you climb the hilltop then You must get down again to take the slippers but if you go from the backside of the ashram then you can climb the temple with the slippers under get back from the other side of the mountain to the temple.

It was only by the grace of Bhagavan that I was able to enter this divine place. After visiting, my mind became fixed on the magical name, "Yogi Ramsuratkumar, Jaya Guru Raya." Over many visits, my life changed significantly through chanting this name. We also have a prayer box where any prayer can be written and dropped, trusting that Bhagavan will take care of it. This ashram, after a few visits, creates a boundless relationship with Bhagavan, who remains with us every second. Within a few months of visiting, many miracles occurred. My prayer to Bhagavan is to grant divine experiences to every creature in the universe."

The Yogi Ramsuratkumar Ashram is a beautiful place filled with love and peace. It's a large ashram that includes a Yaga salai, dining hall, main prayer hall, kitchen, well-maintained garden, elementary school, and guest houses. Yogi Ramsurathkumar, affectionately known as Visiri saamiyaar, shared messages with the world from this sacred place. Every day, Annadhanam is offered, and prasadham is provided in the main prayer hall. Surrounded by the natural beauty of Thiruvanamalai, this ashram offers a nurturing environment for individuals to explore meditation, yoga, and spiritual teachings. The wisdom shared here is profound, guiding visitors towards mindfulness and enlightenment. It's a truly special place to connect with your inner self and find peace in the midst of life's chaos.

What a wonderful establishment, from the personable and knowledgeable owners to the arts and scents and lovely organic cotton clothing. You will find something that will speak to you. Pieces here are unique, including the clothing and you will not find anything in town like their products. Every time I’m in town I always like to see what they have and find another jewel that I will continue to wear for years until my next visit. They do not tear or wear out quickly, they last and are very high-quality. I was not disappointed this time, purchasing a beautiful Long top and scarf, beautiful fabric. Thank you to these wonderful brothers for offering what they do and for being so kind. Location is great, just a block from the Ashram, and prices are great for the high-quality products that they offer. I’m happy.

True to its name, Mystical India is indeed a mystical paradise. The owner, Zulfi, is a beautiful soul and a deeply knowledgeable antique collector. The store has a stunning collection of organic clothing, kurtas, gemstones, fragrances, and exquisite antique paintings and jewellery. Visiting it is truly a beautiful experience.

This is a beautiful shop just about two minutes walking distance from Yogi Ram Surat Kumar's ashram. Mainly for cotton clothes. I have seen such clothing being sold in Pondicherry and Rishikesh, but not in other places. Definitely not in cities such as Chennai, Bangalore. The prices are a tad expensive, but I guess, you pay for the quality and uniqueness. Bought bottoms (Alauddin) for my sister. To surprise her on her upcoming birthday. Kurtas, rings, chains for women and shirts for men are available too. Very kind and courteous staff. I will go with a 4-star. If the prices are a bit more affordable, I would definitely give a 5-star rating. I struck a conversation with them and came to know that they have been operating for over 20 years now. Amazing. Good luck to them.

The Dreaming Tree Restaurant is a delightful gem perched on the rooftop of a three-story building along the road to Shiva Shakti Ashram in Tiruvannamalai. This enchanting venue, designed in a treehouse style, has quickly become a favorite among both locals and travelers over its three years of operation. The restaurant boasts an eclectic menu filled with health-conscious international dishes that are sure to excite your palate.

One of the best places in TN for Pizzas and Organic ingredients based food. Totally surprised by the food quality and quantity. Most vegetables are farmed in their own farms and served. Healthy dishes all throughout the menu, definitely for health-conscious individuals. Paneer butter masala was bang on delicious with so much Paneer. On the contrary, the service was slow and not responsive at all. Place is not so clean, sticky tables and interiors. Mostly thronged by foreigners for the peaceful ambiance it offers. Pretty much near to Ramanar Ashram and Visiri Ashrams. Cards are not acceptable and incurs additional charges. If they improve cleanliness and service, it will be the best 👌finest. Don't miss this hidden gem when you're in Tiruvannamalai.

This place located slightly interior from the main road. Roads leading to this place is narrow and construction is going on (September 25). This place may be famous among the westerners staying at Tiruvannamalai. Pizza is good. If you are looking for continental food, this place is good. Food is slightly expensive. They accept only cash payment, no cards.

It's a quaint lil restaurant on the top floor of a residential building. Finding the place by itself was a task for us. Let us pupper in the car and went to the restaurant . The interior is beautifully done and the menu is curated carefully to meet the macros. As the town is a temple town, the food here is all vegetarian. There were some vegan options too. Was priced OK for the food, and the time spent here was peaceful.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Dreaming Tree in Tiruvannamalai, and it was a delightful experience that beautifully blended global flavors with a serene, bohemian ambiance. The meal began with a comforting bowl of soup, rich in flavor and perfect for setting the tone. The Gobi Manchurian was a standout—crispy cauliflower florets tossed in a tangy, spicy sauce that was both satisfying and addictive. The pizza, adorned with fresh vegetables and a perfectly baked crust, showcased the restaurant's commitment to quality ingredients and authentic taste. The fried rice was another highlight, each grain infused with subtle spices and complemented by a medley of vegetables. The naan and chapati were soft and warm, ideal for pairing with the flavorful channa masala, which boasted a robust, well-balanced spice profile. For dessert, the chocolate cake was a decadent treat—moist, rich, and indulgent. The ice cream, smooth and creamy, provided a refreshing contrast. The fresh juice was vibrant and invigorating, rounding out the meal perfectly. The Dreaming Tree's ambiance is equally noteworthy. The rooftop setting, adorned with eclectic decor and overlooking lush greenery, creates a tranquil environment that enhances the dining experience. The staff were attentive and courteous, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable visit. Overall, The Dreaming Tree offers a diverse menu that caters to various palates, combining traditional Indian dishes with international favorites. The quality of the food, coupled with the inviting atmosphere and excellent service, makes it a must-visit for anyone in Tiruvannamalai. I highly recommend this restaurant to those seeking a memorable culinary experience in a serene setting.

Dreamers tree is a quaint space where you can grab a bite and browse through accessories. The dal fry and rice turned out to be unexpectedly amazing! Shepherd’s pie was hearty, and the orange juice hit just right. A cozy find worth revisiting.

We had the pleasure of dining at The Dreaming Tree recently, and it truly lived up to its charming name. From the moment we walked in, the cozy, welcoming atmosphere set the tone for what turned out to be a fantastic meal. We ordered pizza, garlic bread, choco mousse, tiramisu, and lemon tea — and every single bite was extraordinary. The pizza was bursting with flavor, the garlic bread was perfectly crisp and buttery, and the desserts were rich and indulgent without being too heavy. The choco mousse was especially heavenly, and the tiramisu had just the right balance of coffee and cream. The lemon tea was refreshing and rounded off the meal beautifully. We didn’t leave a single crumb! The service was equally impressive. The lady who served us was incredibly polite and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed without being intrusive. It’s a perfect spot not just for enjoying delicious food, but also for spending quality time — we couldn’t help but think it would be a lovely place for a date night. Highly recommend The Dreaming Tree if you're looking for a place that combines great food, warm service, and a wonderful atmosphere. We’ll definitely be coming back.

Lovely little place we stumbled across while exploring off the Changam road. Stop by for a refreshing vegan Indo-continental cuisine and enjoy the spiritual music in the background. We had the mushroom pizza and the Green Goddess. Yum and rejuvenating.

Shanti Café is a popular spot for coffee lovers looking for a cozy atmosphere and reliable Wi-Fi. The menu features omelets, sandwiches, salads, and delicious cakes. A highlight is the freshly delivered croissants and baguettes from Pondicherry. The café's simple shack setting attracts foreign tourists with its good food, especially the almond flour cake. Visitors praise the friendly staff and pleasant ambiance, making it a great place to enjoy various coffee drinks while working or socializing.

Very nice place, not easy to find, but definitely worth the effort. We came tired after a hike to the top of Mt. Arunchala, and got a great meal, fresh and tasty, beautiful drinks and a fantastic service. We were offered an additional local dish to taste, and fruit when we left. Also very reasonable prices.

Extremely rude owner.. and staff. I think the owner has bipolar disorder as others too reported this- one day he’s happy and kind and another day he’s completely rude, impatient and impolite. I’ve heard from locals in Tiru they no longer go there because of this rudeness. Please learn about customer service and how to treat people. You are dealing mostly with foreigners so please learn PROPER CUSTOMER SERVICE. Don’t be rude! Please. Otherwise, food is good and atmosphere is good.

A cute western cafe in a simple shack. The food is definitely good and mostly attracts foreign tourists. The almond chocolate cake was actually almond flour cake and tasted like a piece of heaven. The owner of the cafe was such a friendly person. Beware of the portion size before you order, it’s king size 😀

I loved this cafe! Service is good, fresh juices and fruit. We also order chapati with hummus and it was really good. Is a nice place to take a break and relax. They have free WiFi.

Lovely place - don't be fooled by the ambience or surroundings. Excellent food and service. Staff is prompt, courteous and helpful. Ordered papaya juice (which was served without sugar, and honey and lemon juice at the side and the most delicious ginger cookie I have had so far), chocolate almond cake. Portions are generous. Good value for money. Would just advise the owners to put up a Signboard so that's it's easy to find. GPS Is accurate though.

Tasty Cafe is a cozy family-owned eatery located near the Agni Lingam, situated on the rooftop of the Hilltop Residency. While it was once a popular spot for meals with its scenic views of Arunachala and surrounding streets, recent renovations have given it a darker ambiance. The café prides itself on serving fresh vegetarian Indian and Italian dishes made from sustainable produce.
Tasty Cafe is definitely worth visiting if you're in Tiruvannamalai! As the name implies, the food is truly very tasty! Be prepared for a bit of a wait, as everything is prepared to order. But trust me, the wait is totally worth it! You'll be served hot, fresh food that'll make your taste buds dance. A big plus is that they prepare all their food with distilled water, so you can eat without worrying about any stomach issues. Oh, and don't miss out on the additional small items they sell. Their nuts and cakes are absolutely recommended! They're perfect for a quick snack or to satisfy your sweet tooth. I'd like to give a special shout-out to Manu, the owner. She's doing an amazing job with this place. Wishing her all the best and hoping her business continues to prosper! If you find yourself in Tiruvannamalai, make sure to drop by Tasty Cafe. Your stomach will thank you!

a wonderful place, consistently good food! i've been here a number of times, the food and drinks are always good. there's a good number of menu choices, a mix of western and indian fare. the dining room is spacious, never crowded, and not much noise from the street. the price is higher than most local restaurants, but the quality of the food is higher too, it is worth it. the service is fairly quick, never a long wait. the waitress is very kind, courteous, and beautiful, and speaks excellent english. i highly recommend this place.

Nov 2020: They have moved to New selfowned place in Thiru but continue to serve great food even in the corona situation! Please support this enterprise ❤️ May 2018: Best in its class' spinach omelette & cheese-mushroom pancake! Just two of the very delicious options on this European menu run by a jolly Tamilian family! Always a good breakfast place between Bangalore-Pondicherry roadtrips. Enjoy the oddities & colors of the spartan decor while enjoying the D-licious food. Trust me, this place will surprise you!

A family owned restaurant that has three secret ingredients that makes their food super tasty passion, love for cooking and hard work.
