Vasto in 3 days

If you only have 3 days to spend in Vasto, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Vasto is a picturesque Adriatic hill town known for its medieval historic center, panoramic terraces, and views over the Gulf of Vasto. You can wander narrow streets to landmarks like Piazza Rossetti, the Caldoresco Castle, and the Roman baths with their mosaics. Below the town, Vasto Marina offers a long sandy beach and a seafront promenade, while the nearby Punta Aderci Nature Reserve features protected coastline, walking trails, and traditional trabocchi fishing structures. The area is also noted for Abruzzese cuisine and seafood, with many restaurants highlighting local fish and regional wines.
With favorites like Spiaggia di Vasto Marina, Spiaggia di Punta Penna, and Trabocco Trimalcione, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Don Magnifico and Da Ferri so you can get the best taste of Vasto while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

Punta Aderci Nature Reserve is a renowned pebble beach located in the province of Chieti, Italy. It is surrounded by cliffs offering breathtaking panoramic views of the sea. The reserve features a picturesque overflow that slopes down from the hills to a beautiful pebble beach. This area is home to a variety of bird species, taking shelter in the breeding season on a promontory overlooking the sea.
Beautiful place, we went for a walk along the beach and came back on the cycling trail above. The area looked very pretty, there are vineyards and flowers and birds. There is some plastic from the sea but it wasn't too bad.

Wonderful beach, clean water, nothing is there if you want a bar or bathroom. You can walk or You can take a bus and the last ride is a 7.30 pm, try to be there before 7.30 pm.

Absolutely stunning. We parked at the next beach down, spiaggia di mottagrossa, and walked 10 min up the beach and it was quite easy. There are many beautiful driftwood structures you can take shade in. The water was clean and pleasant to swim in. We saw that the trabocco is available to rent for provare use. Be sure to pack plenty of water and snacks as there is nothing available at the beach. Was one of my best beach experiences in Italy. Very peaceful and beautiful.

Great natural beach. You can park the car at the small industrial area "porto di Vasto", there's an unattended parking lot. A steep slope runs from it towards the beach. I'd say it's a rather easy walk, beware that it's unpaved and you might struggle a little with wet flip flops. The beach itself is beautiful and water very clear. Though snorkeling isn't very rewarding as fishes are few. Life guards on duty during daytime hours.
Nicola — Google review
Beautiful visit but the water/beach left a little something to be desired. The sea was pretty rough and the water had substantial debris, which was mostly organic (I only saw one tissue/piece of trash). Other than that, the walk to the beach alone is worth the visit on a sunny day. Amazing view of the sea, valley and mountains all in one horizon. Great stop for us as we drove up the coast and wanted to stop for a swim and a walk. Glad we saw it.
Sinead — Google review
A nice sandy beach with nice views. Its probably 400 meters to walk to the beach from where you park but they have shuttle for 2 euros that can take you there quicker. The shuttle is great for elderly and tired children. This is a park there are restrooms and we saw several motorhomes spending the day there.
Robert M — Google review
A small beauty spot with majestic stony beach and a bit of a cliff. We were very lucky to come across frogs mating season in the small pond on the beach. What a symphony of amphibians! I guess it was just some luck. There is a house on the jetty nearby, we'll visible from the cliff and breath views. Great spot for a picnic, perhaps, but not a toilet or drinking water in sight.
Marcin S — Google review
This is a must go place in vasto, almost abandoned in past, in the last years many and many tourists started coming just to admire at this landmark. Best period to visit is early autumn, less crowded and with a deep blue water color due to the changing weather conditions. You don't appreciate things when you have them.

If you're looking for a delightful dining experience in Vasto, Don Magnifico - Golfo d'Oro is the place to be! Renowned for its stunning views and authentic Italian cuisine, this restaurant offers a memorable atmosphere. Guests rave about the picturesque setting, especially when seated on the stairs with breathtaking bay views. The menu features delicious options like tuna steak and seafood pasta, complemented by attentive service even during busy evenings. While some dishes may have minor seasoning issues, overall quality shines through.
Loved this place. We were sat on the tables under the trees overlooking the bay and what a place for lunch! Food was excellent and the staff were great too. As with many other places pizza is only in the evenings but not a problem for us as there are many other options.

We came to this restaurant for the view, and the view, indeed, in magnificent! The food was ok, Anipasti was nice, tuna steak was almost great, also but over-salted, but importantly, not overcooked ) waiters were quite attentive despite huge number of people on Saturday evening and they were running crazily, trying to attend every guest. Gorgeous view, especially when sitting at the tables on the stairs. The food was excellent: great tuna steak, the seafood pasta had a fantastic sauce and the pasta with swordfish was very tasty. Reasonable portions and prices. The tiramisu was great to finish the whole evening off. Service was a little slow but it was also very busy.

Great food and service. Highly recommend.
Tony R — Google review
We have been here three times now as we travel constantly between the North and Puglia. We have had two good experiences and one bad. The last one, today was very disappointing. We had booked a table on the terrace and the famous Brodetto, which we ate there before. It arrived piping hot and included 2 mussels on top, one of which had not opened. Please chef, if you are only offering two mussels, make sure they have both opened! It took our waiter a long time to ask if we wanted to add pasta. We said yes - the pasta took half an hour to arrive, by which time the Brodetto was stone cold. The service was perfunctory as a large party had arrived. We were ignored, no question of dessert or coffee. We left feeling disatisfied! Normally the food is good. Would we return? Not on a Friday lunchtime!
Helen L — Google review
The restaurant site pictures/views are not accurate. It’s in industrial part of the city with lots of construction materials , cranes in view. Menu was small with not many options to choose. Most dishes were listed for min of 2 people. Reservation was made by our Airbnb host and ordered fish soup that he advised us to try. We were notified by our server that 2 soups were ordered and we will have to pay € 100 even though the menu didn’t show that dish for min 2 person. Then some woman came and said that she could make an exception and make only one for us. Not to mention that it was a huge dish for even 2 people. Nothing special about it. Ended up with one dish only. Didn’t enjoy neither the food nor situation
Karine K — Google review
The food and service was excellent! We had the fish soup which I agree is the best in Vasco. Our waiter spoke perfect English and explained every course in detail, recommend an excellent wine to complement our meal. The views of the harbour are excellent. I recommend you call for reservations we didn't but had to wait for a table they were kind enough to accommodate us!
Gregory Z — Google review
Lovely place with an astonishing panorama of the sea, that can be admired from the terrace that elevates itself almost above the salted water. Their typical dish "Brodetto alla Vastese" is pure joy for people who appreciate fish based cuisine. The personnel is as lovely, kind, and welcoming as it can be. Do not get fooled by the look of the front of the Restaurant that hosts a bar, it hides a well furnished dining hall on the back, sided by the amazing terrace I mentioned before.

Trabocco Trimalcione offers a truly exceptional and enjoyable dining experience. The restaurant boasts a stunning trabocco, featuring glass floors that provide a unique view of the sea beneath your table. It is particularly enchanting in the evening when you can witness a breathtaking sunset while savoring your meal. Speaking of which, the cuisine at Trabocco Trimalcione is absolutely delicious, with a set menu comprising approximately 10 delectable courses.
UNFORGETTABLE experience today with charming Mario and his lovely wife, Chef Emilia. They have owned this unique Trabocco at Punta Penna since 2014. There are just a few tables and you must make a reservation in advance. The food is fresh and changes daily. We had the great fortune to be the only customers today and had Mario and Emilia all to ourselves 😍 Mario is a talented storyteller and Emilia is a master of seafood cookery. We had a many course lunch prepared from a variety of delicacies plucked from the Adriatic that morning. Anchovies, shrimp, mussels, clams, a variety of local fish, a gorgeous tuna sashimi salad, brodetto, pasta and a beautiful dessert. And of course wonderful local wine. Be sure to arrive hungry and allow time for a long leisurely meal. The scenery, hospitality, and cuisine were top notch. Truly an amazing experience. Mille grazie Mario e Emilia 👏😍

A very unique and fun dining experience. The trabocca is beautiful and has part glass floors so you can view the sea under your table. I went in the evening and watched a wonderful sunset while eating. The meal was delicious, it was a set menu of about 10 courses, so allow lots of time

We had 8 courses + digestivo: toast with fresh anchovies; octopus; tuna; mullet; shrimps; pasta with shrimp and chickpeas; sea bass; semifreddo with strawberries and cherries. Exquisite. Wonderful service and atmosphere. Book well in advance. Only three tables per seating. You will be there for several hours.
Evelyn B — Google review
What better way to spend a lovely sunny afternoon than be the guests of the charming Mario and his hard working wife, Emilia. As it says in the web overview , you genuinely feel like you have been invited to the home of this wonderful couple who share with you an immense meal of local seafood and foraged herbs and vegatables. The multiple courses are served with love and explanation as to the ingredients and flavours created in the kitchen. With only 3 tables you are very much part of the experience where you can share conversations with the hosts, watch the meal preparation and sit back and marvel at the views from the Trabocco. A truly memorable experience for our party of four. After living in Italy for over 4 years we have this place up in our top 5 eateries thats for sure. We shall, return.. PS. The sea bass and the pasta dishes were sensational and the shell fish combinations were to die for.

We had such a fun time dining at this trabocco! The service was kind and attentive, and the seafood was delicious. For day 2, we recommend exploring the northwest side side of town. Start the day off with Aqualand del Vasto, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Centro Sportivo San Gabriele. All together, your day would be filled with about 7 hours of non-stop fun.

Water & Amusement Parks
Aqualand del Vasto is a family-friendly water park located just a 10-minute drive away from Belvedere Loggia Amblingh. The park offers a variety of slides, tube rides, pools, aqua sports, and fitness classes. Visitors can enjoy a good family atmosphere and children have plenty of fun activities to keep them entertained. Additionally, parents have the option to indulge in massages while at the park.
Try to avoid weekends and beginning of August. Book tickets online at least a day before and you will have a discount. A quite equipped aqualand with all kinds of watergames. Waterslides of all sorts, small rafting in rapids, wavepool, kidspool among others. Here you find a pizzeria and bar at least, shops and arcadegame hall. They do shows for kids and grownups at least on weekends. They have a lot of sunbeds and umbrellas free of charge.

Not really a theme park, more like a comfortable, fun, relaxing park with a pool and a few good fun water rides. The setting is well looked after, much of which is green and shaded. The entertainment is fun and of a high quality, the staff are friendly and helpful. This is not a massive water park.
Mat ( — Google review
Fun. It’s a bit smaller with only about 5 to 10 water rides! If you’re there for the rides only you can do it all in about three to four hours with relaxing time in between. YOU MUST PAY FOR TICKETS THE DAY BEFORE!! OR ITS 60€ for TWO TICKETS DAY OF!
Destiny H — Google review
This waterpark has tons of slides and other attractions. The staff always listens to your questions and actually makes you respect the rules (safer rides). Some of the attractions had something that made them stand out from the others, my favourite was the 4 ways blue slide.
Riccardo — Google review
Aqualand is probably focused mainly on Italians, which means the staff doesn’t speak other languages very well, but that’s not the main problem. Park itself is not very big so expect long lines for slides. The worst part is eating. Restaurant is open for only three hours so of you don’t want to grab a lunch when all people do, you will end up with semi-finished tortillas with really bad taste. On top of that, The staff has not prepared grill so your meal will be half cold. Given the ticket price for family of three it was not worth it.
Vyhnaldo — Google review
Best waterpark in the Abruzzo area, way better than Onda Blu. Good slides and a nice looking waterpark. Didn't have to wear a stupid hat like other waterparks/swimming pools. Recommend going.
Graeme P — Google review
Best Waterpark in Italy if you ask me, in addition to awesome pools and a wide variety of slides they also host several shows in their theater through out the day, which you can attend at no additional cost! The wave pool has party music hourly and the cabanas are awesome. Food and drinks are reasonably priced. Only improvements would be to add normal toilets in the bathrooms and have tubes in the lazy river like any other Waterpark does.

It is a pebble beach, but once you enter the water after a few meters there is sand. It is however recommended to have rubber shoes. Along the beach there are small huts to have a bit of shade...placing the umbrella is not easy! The sea is really beautiful and you can enjoy great tranquility.

We found this place hidden on a little sidestreet. It was a gem - for a family of four (teenagers + mon and dad), it had a good menu to explore and the ambience was very local italiano. The Vongole was very delicate and perfect, the spinach ravioli was superb... and the service was friendly, not too fast but attentive. recommend highly.

Spiaggia di Vasto Marina is a well-known beach resort that offers easy access to visitors. The sandy beach has a brown, fine texture and the water is pure turquoise in color. Although there is only a small free area available, the beach tends to be crowded during peak season. Families with children will find this place suitable as it provides ample opportunities for playing beach volleyball and other activities. There are several restaurants and resorts nearby that offer food and drinks easily accessible to visitors.
Beautiful beach, beautiful view. There is also a beautiful and small ancient church. Spaces dedicated to sporting activities such as beach volleyball, volleyball and soccer. The beach is wide and sandy and the beaches are equipped with every comfort. It is a beautiful beach, very wide, with light sand, typical of the Adriatic. Well equipped. The pier located right in the middle is beautiful from which you can admire the sea. It is always very nice to walk on the Marina di Vasto beach. The sunsets it offers are suggestive and the pier is worth visiting if you are in the area. During the summer period. The beach is beautiful and not crowded and the sea is clean. Nestled near the picturesque Vasto seafront, the Church of Saint Mary Stella Maris is a charming and inviting place that captures the essence of Gothic architecture. Despite its small size, this lovely church boasts stunning stained glass windows that add to its beauty. Visitors in July 2023 had the unique opportunity to pray before the relic of Blessed Carlo Acutis, making it a special time for reflection and connection with youth spirituality.

(Translated by Google) One of those churches you can visit even at ten o'clock in the evening. And a visit can only be accompanied by reflection and prayer, since this small church in Vasto Marina is both a sacred place and a place where spirituality is felt as soon as you enter. Architecturally, the church is in Neo-Gothic style both inside and out. The interior is embellished with a beautiful 17th-century image of the Madonna and Child in the apse and a splendid late Baroque altar in the right aisle.

(Translated by Google) The Church of Santa Maria Stella Maris is a small architectural gem. It's a shame it's guarded by a friar who looks like he stepped out of a casting call for "The Exorcist: The Parish Priest's Revenge." I enter with my little dog, calm and harmless, and find myself faced with this grim figure, with hateful manners and an almost satanic air, who orders me to leave because dogs "are not welcome." It's a shame that the only truly annoying animal inside was him. A Franciscan who should embody humility, welcome, and kindness, but instead exudes only arrogance, repulsion, and palpable annoyance. The result: the church is beautiful, but the friar ruins everything. If you want a spiritual experience, it's best to stay away: here, you only risk encountering a grumpy guard who will dampen your faith and your desire to enter.

Villa Comunale del Vasto, a renowned city park, is particularly popular on Sunday evenings at approximately 5 PM. During this time, visitors typically spend around 45 minutes in the park. On Mondays, however, it tends to be less crowded and more peaceful. This stunning park offers a mesmerizing view of the beach and features an enchanting turtle pond with a charming castle.

The Cathedral of Saint Joseph, located in the historic center of Vasto, is a beautiful 13th-century church with original architecture. It is perfectly integrated into the city's cultural landscape and stands near notable landmarks such as Palazzo D'avalos and Porta Palazzo. The cathedral's facade exudes ancient charm while its interior reflects a more modern style.

(Translated by Google) 14th-century façade The Vasto Cathedral, dedicated to Saint Joseph, is the Co-cathedral of the Archdiocese of Chieti-Vasto. In this Holy Year it is a Jubilee church and is therefore officially designated by the Catholic Church as a place of pilgrimage. Of the ancient medieval church, dedicated to Saint Margaret, only the façade remains, which dates back to the 13th century and is the original part of the old church plus the 14th-century portal and rose window. In the 17th century it was dedicated to Saint Augustine and in 1808 to Saint Joseph. It was elevated to a cathedral in 1853. In 1986 it became a Co-cathedral.

(Translated by Google) The Cathedral of San Giuseppe, once dedicated to Sant'Agostino and before that to Santa Margherita, was built in the late 13th century, destroyed by the Turks in the mid-16th century, and rebuilt in 1568. The 13th-century façade is embellished with an ogival portal and a large rose window, the work of Ruggero de Fragenis, who lived in the 13th century. The interior was renovated in Neo-Gothic style in the 20th century and houses a precious 16th-century triptych depicting the Madonna and Child with Saints Catherine and Nicholas, originally from a church no longer in existence.

(Translated by Google) Among the monuments worth visiting in Vasto's historic center, the Cathedral of San Giuseppe is certainly worth mentioning. Built over a pre-existing church, it was enlarged in the 13th century and has been remodeled and restored several times. It features a beautiful Romanesque façade in white stone, with a decorated portal surmounted by a magnificent Gothic rose window. The exterior is completed by the 18th-century bell tower, crowned by a mechanical clock.

Nestled in a charming locale, Osteria la Spasetta offers an intimate dining experience that is truly memorable. Guests rave about the delightful seafood dishes and fresh pasta, all beautifully presented with exceptional culinary skill. The warm and welcoming staff, particularly the lovely waitress Agnes, enhance the atmosphere with their friendly service. While some diners noted a longer wait time for their meals, they found it well worth it as they savored each bite of delicious food.
Outstanding execution and artistic presentation of seafood, fresh pasta, professional and exceptional Chef, a wide selection of local wines. Very friendly and professional waitress Agnes, such a warm welcome!

Tucked in a sweltering corner of the square stands Osteria la Spasetta. The restaurant was empty on arrival. After finding a table we were asked to move table into the corner, as our group wasn't big enough. We were given to menu, and no one came to take our order for 10 minutes, at which point we left. I wouldn't waste your time, there's plenty of places with a better atmosphere and staff.

We should have looked at the reviews of this place before going! But we were recommended so we went and hoped for the best, that was a mistake. Small restaurant typical of these area, few tables about 6 for four people a small kitchen in the view of the guest so it did have a good impression, but soon I noticed that they were only two people working, one was the chef and the other looked like his girlfriend all polite to start with, the chef came to take the order and he suggested us few things, we waited and waited and we waited even more before getting served an antipasto consisting of a mozzarella and Parma ham! How long does it take to prepared that?? More waiting And waiting we couldn’t wait any longer so after drunk the bottle of wine we demanded the bill, he was not sorry and we paid overly priced for two mozzarella one bottle of wine and a Calamari starter!! He’s loss we will never go there again!
ANTONIO A — Google review
We ate outside and had the sweetest waitress Ignes. After ordering we waited just under 40 minutes to get served. For me I thought that was too long to wait and the portions, though very tasty, were small. At the end we had a little digestif, and when I mean little, we tried a small taste. Even though we had the bottles left on our table and we could have helped ourselves to as much as we wanted, we had a taste and that was it. It was expensive for just a taste at 3 Euros each. We were given a little Vasto dessert on the house to try which was nice. 1 antipasta, 1 main, 4 glasses of wine, 2 digestifs, 1 bottle of water = 44 Euros All in all, lovely service and good food but the wait was far too long and we could have done with not having another glass of wine had we got served quicker. An expensive meal all considering.

(Translated by Google) Not having a POS terminal in 2025, especially in a tourist destination, is inexcusable. Even if it were broken, as the alleged owner claims, it should still be reported. Furthermore, the same alleged owner indulges in rude comments toward customers, completely unfounded. It's a shame because the products are good, but that's not enough, in my opinion, to get positive reviews. I don't recommend it.

(Translated by Google) I booked at this restaurant, we sat down at 8pm and at 8:40pm we were out. Impeccable service, stratospheric quality of food, I ordered a sandwich with a scottona hamburger, caramelized onions and confit tomatoes. It seems like a very banal sandwich but the quality of the ingredients and their skill made this sandwich the simplest but best I have ever eaten. I went to the bathroom to wash my hands and found myself in the most beautiful bathroom I have ever seen. Equipped with everything, really everything. Hairspray, deodorant, sanitary towels of all types, dental floss, toothbrush, sewing kit, kit with nail file, cotton swabs and cotton pads, hairbrush, wet wipes, DIAPERS of two different brands! Fan + air conditioning and much more, everything you need in short. Not to mention the beauty of the bathroom itself, with these yellow tulips hanging along the entire ceiling, the mirror is really a gem. The owner is demanding but very kind and I think it's more than fair, because the place, both outside and inside, is worth it. It's a real gem. I'm very happy to have discovered this restaurant, if I ever return to this fantastic little town I will stop here again (Original) Ho prenotato in questo ristorante, ci siamo accomodate alle 20 alle 20:40 eravamo fuori.
