Imola in 2 days

If you only have 2 days to spend in Imola, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Imola attracts visitors with its blend of medieval heritage and motorsport culture, centered on the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari, a historic Formula 1 and racing circuit. The town’s old center features landmarks like the Rocca Sforzesca fortress and the Palazzo Tozzoni, which offer insight into local history and architecture. Nearby parks along the Santerno River and the rolling Emilia-Romagna countryside provide opportunities for walks and cycling. Its location between Bologna and Ravenna also makes Imola a practical base for exploring the wider region.
With favorites like Gilles Villeneuve Monument, Pizzeria La Voglia Matta, and Museo San Domenico, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like San Domenico and Ristorante La Tavernetta so you can get the best taste of Imola while you’re here. Auto Race Tracks
Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari is a renowned racing track that has hosted Grand Prix until 2006. Presently, this historical temple of racing hosts regular car and bike events. The circuit offers several attractions like the Senna statue and museum, making it an excellent location to visit. The atmosphere at the Rivazza curve with cheering tifosi is incredible. Only one section of the track can be accessed by foot.
What a weekend you get in F1 . Just wow. You can enjoy in the race and relax in the park . City is small and nice but offers a lot of fun. You must try Aperol .

If you’re a Formula 1 fan, Imola is a must. The track is iconic, the atmosphere electric, and the town itself is full of charm and history. Race organization is decent, but expect crowds and some walking – planning ahead helps a lot. Hearing the cars live is something else entirely. Food and drinks? Classic Italian quality. Locals are welcoming and passionate about the sport. Tip: aim for seats near the Variante Alta or Rivazza corners for the best action. All in all, a weekend to remember.
Zoran P — Google review
The Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola is an iconic and historic racing circuit that truly lives up to its reputation. Whether you’re there for a Formula 1 Grand Prix, a concert, or any other major event, the atmosphere is electric and the setting is unique. The track is surrounded by beautiful green areas and rolling hills, giving it a scenic charm that’s rare among modern circuits. It’s well-organized during big events, with clear signage, plenty of food and drink options, and multiple access points depending on your ticket. Walking paths around the circuit also give you the chance to explore different viewpoints. Keep in mind that some areas can get very crowded, especially near the main grandstands, so it’s best to arrive early. Also, bring comfortable shoes — you’ll likely walk quite a bit! Overall, a must-visit for motorsport fans, and a fantastic venue for large-scale events. A place full of passion, history, and unforgettable energy.

The experience of watching the races at Imola is exciting, the sound of the engines increases the adrenaline, the place is well organized and the atmosphere is safe and good. There are many shady places, it is worth coming prepared for a picnic with a mat to sit on comfortably.
דנה D — Google review
Walking over the track is a special feeling if you're into the racing world. We've been to an AC/DC concert, so it was an even better combination! Beautiful place and location directly next to the historic town of Imola and I'm looking forward to seeing a race there!
Patrick D — Google review
I visited it when there was no race, just to walk and enjoy the good weather, and I have to say I was impressed, it's more than just a race circuit, it's an entire park, you can go by bike or on foot. The Senna monument is amazing, so many flags put up there, it makes you really think how loved some people were.
Antonio R — Google review
We had a great F1 race weekend at Imola!!! Be sure to get a seat somewhere because most of the general admission tickets don’t have a view. The hill before the start/finish straight is a great option.

Nature & Parks
Mineral Waters Park, established in 1871, is a delightful green oasis that beautifully combines nature with recreational activities. This expansive park features playgrounds and walking paths, making it an ideal spot for families and those looking to unwind amidst lush surroundings. The park's unique atmosphere is enhanced by its proximity to the renowned Enzo and Dino Ferrari racetrack, where visitors can enjoy stunning views of the circuit from elevated spots within the park.
A beautiful park. Serene. Encompassing the race track

Second time here for the Imola Grands Prix. We love this location and the park atmosphere just adds something special to the event. Very relaxed environment and one that welcomes each visitor bathing you in nature in the tree lined circuit.
Philip D — Google review
Simply walk into the park, listen to the sound of nature and thundering V8's. Grab a beer at one of the cafes, get a snack, watch the cars screech their way around the track and visit the small sights to see on the way. This park inside Imola circuit is a very natural park with plenty of birds and wildlife, plenty of bins and very clean and tidy. You actually forget you are in the grounds of a racetrack.
Ian — Google review
It was my first F1 race live and I couldn't imagine a more perfect place to watch it. Gorgeous park, beautiful views, so many great places to watch the race, grab a drink, mix with the crowd, listen to some music, or just to take a walk in the quiet nature, chill on the grass. It had everything for every mood, and a lot of beautiful trees to protect from the sun, when it gets too much. We had great seats, but we went around and found so many curious spots that we would gladly stay at. It's a perfect place for families or companies with serious F1 fans and not, the event had everything for everyone. It had so much to offer, F2 and Porche Cup in between or after the main events, a lot of screens so you don't miss interviews with your favourite drivers. It was getting a bit crowded during the sessions, but the organisation at some food & drinks spots was great and they were handling a huge amount of clients with skill. Just before the race it became very difficult to grab anything, because lines were taking more than half an hour, I would plan better next time not to need anything at the last minute. And in a day without events, it's a gorgeous place to enjoy nature, I would gladly come back for a picnic or hiking.

Monuments & Statues
The Ayrton Senna monument, unveiled on April 26, 1997, in the Parco di Acque Minerale in Imola, stands as a poignant tribute to one of Formula 1's greatest legends. Located near the infamous Curva del Tamburello at the Autodromo Enzo and Dino Ferrari—where Senna tragically lost his life on May 1, 1994—the statue has become a sacred site for fans and racing enthusiasts alike.
Visiting the Ayrton Senna Memorial in Imola was a truly moving experience. The location is peaceful and surrounded by nature, which adds to the emotional atmosphere. It's a beautiful tribute to a legendary driver, and you can really feel the respect and admiration people still have for him. A must-visit for any F1 fan. The memorial is easy to reach by car, parking is free and there are plenty of spaces available.

I've waited a long time to visit here from England. 31 years after his death, the emotions of visiting Imola and his monument were overwhelming. The local athuratries do a fantastic job of keeping the monument and the countless flags on the surrounding fence in good order Someone reaches a candle there with a lighter next to it so when night falls someone can light it. Lovely touch
Kojak — Google review
A peaceful and emotional spot tucked inside the park at Imola, the Senna monument is a quiet but powerful tribute. The statue captures Ayrton in a thoughtful pose, surrounded by messages, flowers, and flags left by fans from all over the world. Standing there, you really feel the weight of what happened at Tamburello and the impact Senna had on so many. A must-visit for any F1 fan.

I have been watching F1 ever since 1980 when I was 13 years old. This trip for me was a must do as I followed Ayrton Senna and Michael Schumacher very closely and I was at my home in Sydney Australia when I saw the events of that weekends San Marino Grand Prix take place. It was a very moving experience as I also visited Roland Ratzenberger’s memorial as well as Ayrton’s. It was one one F1’s darkest weekends in its history. RIP Roland and Ayrton.
Frank C — Google review
Very moving to visit the park. There is a suitable silence over the place, even though on this day, there were cars on the race track. As a Senna fan, it is a "must visit" place and even with only a slight interest in motorsport, the place will be worth a visit.

Imola Cathedral, also known as the Cathedral of San Cassiano, is a stunning gem nestled in the heart of Imola, Italy. This architectural marvel showcases an impressive blend of Romanesque and Gothic styles, reflecting its rich history dating back to the 12th century. San Domenico is a refined dining spot in Imola, Italy, known for its changing menu of classic dishes and extensive wine list. It's a popular destination for heads of state, celebrities, and food enthusiasts who come to enjoy chef Valentino Marcattilii's exquisite creations.
We went to this restaurant to get the raviolo with egg yolk. That dish was topped by the gnocchi, which had a sugo that tasted of the sea. The pork secondi was, however, the finest pork dish ever tasted, truly world class. The sommelier worked with us to select a great wine that complemented our meal without being overly expensive.

Everything was very well executed. From the divertimenti at the beginning (best smoked salmon I’ve ever eaten, by the way), through the dessert, everything was delicious. The goose liver with orange marmalade and cinnamon was amazing. The raviolo was fragrant, and the butter from the Dolomites they used was very flavorful. The prawns and caviar were just so enjoyable. And the crêpes Suzette were a flambé treat at the end of the meal. Loved it all.

Based on our recent group visit of ten following the F1 event, I cannot recommend this establishment. The service was substandard and our treatment unacceptable. Upon arrival, a request for restroom access was met with an abrupt refusal. The server subsequently presented the menu, repeatedly emphasizing the limited availability of only meat dishes, despite the menu indicating otherwise. She then loudly directed kitchen staff regarding missing items. Our orders arrived incorrectly prepared and some dishes were served cold. Finally, upon completion of our meal, the server demanded the table without apology. In summary, significantly better service is readily available from street vendors.

Wonderful and cozy place with a menu to satisfy all foodie criteria. From vegetarian to seafood, this place offers all the Bolognese classics - La Grassa! We had tagliatelle with mushrooms and spaghetti with clams cooked to perfection, coupled with a carafe of house white wine. Our server was attentive and kind. She spoke perfect English and answered all of my questions. I’m a fan of this place!

Frosty unwelcoming reception, got quite flustered due to our large group, was very abrupt with us from the start. I did ask if they were not happy to serve us and was told, it’s fine I’m happy. Food was all mixed up and mistakes were made. No sooner had we finished eating we were asked to leave as they needed the table. Customer service nil.
Martyn P — Google review
The lunch menu has a nice structure: meat, fish, vegetarian, vegan. You pick one, and you'll get a the course meal based on that choice. Food and service were both good.

We chose this place because everything else was closed. The welcome from the two young ladies was very poor, and instead of helping us with the menu as tourists, they rather laughed at us. The food was also very below average.

(Translated by Google) We had two cutlets Bolognese style, side dish of fried potatoes, water and half a litre of Sangiovese... a bit too little to evaluate the menu... but nice atmosphere, helpful waiters, more than good prices... I would suggest a supplement of 2 euros for an addition of cheese on the cutlet... so as to drown it in cheese... I would have liked it,.. but for the rest it was perfect. Mezcal, a Mexican restaurant known for its delectable cuisine and generous portions, offers a bustling yet laid-back ambiance. Its vibrant atmosphere attracts patrons who seek both excitement and tranquility. The establishment also hosts the Real Bodies Experience, which is described as exceptionally impressive. Mezcal undoubtedly provides an enjoyable dining destination with its appealing offerings and pleasant surroundings.
A great find if, as a vegetarian, one tires of pizze and paste day after day. The Mexican vegetarian options were plenty, and we even re-ordered a starter after the main meal. The service was good and the waitress had a GSOH. She made an effort to complement our struggles with the language. The place filled up with locals, incl university students. A lovely setting in a central location. Highly recommended.

A laidback Mexican eatery in Imola. It offers a wide variety of dishes from salad, nacho, fajita, and taco, and of course, drinks. Generous portion, the seasoning could be more pronounced and more authentic. Friendly and hospitality are the strong points of this restaurant. The saviour of the hunger on Mondays and Tuesdays in particular!

The place is very viby and cozy. But it tooks 1h since we made order to first food arrived. I liked my ravioli (at photo) but other pasta was just average (my italian friends said that). Weiter was nice but it seems like he pushed us to drink as much as possibile watter, wine, coffee whatever, so in the end the average receipt was 45€ per person that for Imola is tooooo much.

The Gilles Villeneuve Monument stands as a tribute to one of Formula 1's most iconic drivers, who played a pivotal role in popularizing the sport in North America. His remarkable talent and passion not only made him a champion but also turned him into a global ambassador for both Canada and F1. Visiting this monument is an emotional experience, especially during the F1 weekend when fans gather to honor his legacy.

Gilles Villeneuve is known as one of F1's most important drivers. As honestly you can argue that without him despite F1 having tracks in North America, F1 wouldn't have taken off as profoundly as it did without him. As having a driver such as Villeneuve changed F1's appeal as for once it had a person from north America be a great driver and champion. Also is one of the most well known Canadians worldwide. So honestly he is a global ambassador for Canada and F1

quattroquinti - Pizzeria is a popular pizza place in Imola, known for its high-quality pizzas and fresh ingredients. Customers praise the delicious taste and soft texture of the Neapolitan-style pizzas, as well as their high digestibility due to slow natural leavening. While some mention that the service can be lacking at times, the overall recommendation is positive for those seeking authentic and tasty pizza.
The best pizzeria in the city! It serves very tasty and fresh pizza. There are so many kinds of pizza that it's difficult to choose one. But all pizza sounds so good. Usually, it's very crowded, so it's recommended that you book a seat.

I strongly advise against this place. If I could have given 0 stars, I would have. The service was a disaster and far from professional. We were 15 minutes late, so I sent an email to inform them. Upon arrival, a staff member greeted us very coldly, pointing out our delay. I apologized and mentioned that I had sent an email, but she curtly replied that they don't check their emails and that we should have called. Once seated on the terrace, my 18-month-old baby was playing with a pile of pebbles that were already there. The waitress, visibly annoyed, came over to tell us that playing with the pebbles was not allowed — even though they were lying around on their terrace. When it came time to pay, the same staff member was once again rude, answering the phone while cashing us out and not even bothering to ask if everything had gone well. To top it all off, the pizzas are overpriced for Italy and absolutely nothing special. Definitely not an experience I would recommend.

The staff is super friendly and even when they are full of reservations they guarantee a good product unlike other pizzerias that panic! Taken many times even at home and the delivery is super punctual and the pizza seems freshly baked! Super recommended! Super consigliata!

If you find yourself in Imola, make sure to stop by Strike, a fantastic dining spot that truly stands out. During my visit, I stumbled upon this gem and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of food offered at reasonable prices. The menu boasts a wide variety of options, ensuring there's something for everyone. The service is impressively quick, and the atmosphere is enhanced by ample seating and convenient parking nearby.
A very good option in Imola. During our visit to Imola we found this place and decided to try it. And it was a great choice. Food is definitely fine and the prices are fair. Plus a decent variety of options. We definitely recommend.

Thank you to the staff who were kind to Asians from the other side of the world. The outdoor table next to the park was cool and we enjoyed a good dinner.

Restaurant
Osteria Callegherie is an elegant restaurant located in the historic center, offering a menu that changes with the seasons. The service is courteous, and there's an excellent selection of wines. The cuisine is refined and authentic to the Romagna region, with well-presented dishes showcasing a great balance of flavors. While some dishes may need improvement, overall it offers a wonderful dining experience. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the extensive wine list.
We went twice! Wonderful menu with specials too. Very authentic regional cuisine of Romagna. Great wine list with very helpful and fun friendly staff. The chef has a great understanding of balancing flavours and creating originality with his dishes. We enjoyed our experiences both times.

During a visit to Imola we decided to find a place for lunch after looking on trip-advisor for a place we stumbled across this little gem. Even though i felt underdressed in shorts t-shirt and flip-flops we where made to fell very welcome by the staff. the food is amazing and service was top notch there when you needed them but not hovering. Nice touch for the chef to pop out and make sure everything was ok. Will defiantly come back if in the area.
