Les 9 Écluses de Fonseranes, also known as the Nine Locks, is a remarkable series of canal locks located on the Canal du Midi near Beziers. This UNESCO World Heritage Site showcases an extraordinary hydraulic construction designed by Pierre-Paul Riquet. Visitors can witness the impressive ladder-like locks that allow canal boats to descend by 20m using only the power of water.
We were in a boat going up stream and had to wait 45-60 minutes for a tourist boat to go through before space opened up for us. This is standard. It took about 45 minutes to go through all of the locks once we got started. This was one of the coolest things I have ever done and highly recommend doing it. We wish we could have gone down stream and then back up again but we had limited time until we had to return our boat. It did require 3 of us…2 in the boat and one on shore.
Terri M — Google review
Worth the walk for this historical spectacle. It's about half an hour for the able bodied, with nice views back across L'Orb and to the Cathedral. For the less mobile, the little train takes you from the Cathedral to the locks and return with interesting facts about the locality en route. Toilets and cafe at the top of the locks, plus option to take a canal boat trip. Best booked in advance in busy periods.
Jo G — Google review
Absolutely worth visiting. Buy a ticket for the canal tour. It will take you up the locks which is a nice experience. Beautiful area and go into Beziers after. Visiting the locks is a half day trip. The boat tour is 1 hour and 15 mins.
Raymond H — Google review
A masterpiece still in operation, these 9 locks that follow one another, you should not hesitate to visit this place. In excellent condition and very well laid out, you can follow the paths along the canal and arrive near the very beautiful and old bridge. From Toulouse, the Canal du Midi reaches Béziers via a 54-kilometer-long reach (a section of canal without locks). Over this distance, the canal remains at an altitude of 31.54 meters. But at Fonseranes, the canal must descend a steep 25-meter drop to reach the Orb, a necessary passage for boats heading to Agde. To establish the connection between the canal and the Orb, an extraordinary lock was built. Thanks to a successful initial experiment in Castelnaudary, Riquet knew that the secret lay in a lock with multiple chambers. Faced with the significant difference in altitude, Riquet and his works director decided to add eight chambers, twice as many as those of the Saint-Roch lock in Castelnaudary ! Work on the Fonseranes lock began in 1667 and was completed in 1680. The structure is impressive! At 315 meters long and with a total drop of 21.18 meters, this lock ladder is the largest ever built in France ...
Enjoy L — Google review
A rather exceptional engineering feat built in the 17th century to create a navigable route from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean. In addition to being a spectacular series of locks in short succession, the canal has a tunnel, several cool bridges including one for the canal to cross above the river. I recommend obtaining details about the history to appreciate it best. Boat tours are long if you take the roundtrip, might be best to join a tour only do the way back down, going towards the Mediterranean.
Regis D — Google review
A wonderful feat of engineering. Lovely and informative video in the information centre ( 3 Euro) Watching the boats pass through the locks, very interesting - especially when one of the gates won't shut. Pleasent walk from Beziers, through the old port area, which is going to be restored and across the old town bridge.
Paul S — Google review
Been here a coupke of times before. Now you can only walk on one side of them but still nice and its actually better for taking photos without a lot of people.
Erik B — Google review
A dream come true passing through the Fonseranes. Absolutely a marvel and one of the best parts of the Canal du Midi. It takes about 45 minutes to pass through with timed entry in the morning and afternoon depending on direction.

Cathedral
Parish
Cathédrale Saint-Nazaire is a Roman Catholic church that was constructed in the 13th century, replacing an earlier structure. Positioned at the top of Beziers, it offers stunning views of the Orb River and the surrounding area. The cathedral features austere fortified towers and a magnificent rosette window. Visitors can explore its stark interior and access the beautiful 14th-century gardens through the cloister.
What a lovely cathedral it's in great condition and has not been messed with it's like stepping back in time, what is also amazing is you are free to climb up the 165 steps to the parapet just below the bell tower, a bit of caution here be warned it's not an easy climb it's a narrow spiral staircase and the steps are well trodden and for getting it if you have any fear of heights, just view and enjoy my photos that I have added. The views over the town are amazing and worth the climb for those that can make it, did I mention it's free, I have paid good money for a lot less elsewhere. So if you do use it do what we did put all the old coins in the collection box (before climbing up) and it will help keep this open for future visits
Steven C — Google review
Very beautiful place, dated back to the 13th century. You can actually climb to the top of the tower to have a bird view of the city. On the way there you will reach a balcony where you can see the church better as well.

Beautiful cathedral well worth visiting. Be sure to also visit the peaceful cloisters. There is currently an art exhibition there.
Shannon J — Google review
A magnificent emblem of Béziers, visible from afar, as if perched atop the Roman and medieval ramparts of the ancient city. Indeed, on the "Béziers acropolis," the majestic and austere Cathedral of Saint-Nazaire and Saint-Celse watches over the city. Anchored on a rocky promontory, overlooking the city, the Southern Gothic-style building stands on the remains of a Roman temple and a Romanesque church destroyed and burned during the Crusade against the Cathars in 1209 by the troops of the King and the Pope, commanded by Arnaud Amaury. Today, the cathedral is dominated by a 48-meter-high square tower topped by a turret housing an iron campanile with a late 18th-century bell. The upper part, dating from the 15th century, is adorned with columns, each base of which represents a human face. The bell tower houses a 4-ton bell named after Mary, cast by François Granier, the second most important bell in the region after the bell of Montpellier Cathedral. Numerous gargoyles, some requiring renovation, adorn the cathedral walls. Richly crafted 14th-century ironwork grilles protect the choir's stained-glass windows. Impressive in its size, the building houses 14th-century frescoes, a splendid 17th-century organ case, and a large rose window with a diameter of ten meters. Its magnificent grand organ is installed on a gallery at the end of the nave, whose organ case, in the Louis XIII style and the work of Guillaume Martois, dates from 1633. Its instrumental part also dates largely from the 17th century. It features Romanesque columns and capitals, vestiges of the Romanesque cathedral, but the majority of the columns date from the Gothic period. The transverse arches supporting the vault are from the 14th century. The supports of the galleries, located in the nave, near the choir, feature friezes with triglyphs and metopes. These friezes are imitations of the degenerate Gallo-Roman style, dating from the Romanesque period (12th century). The choir contains ancient stained-glass windows from the Gothic period. It was extensively remodeled in the 18th century in the Baroque style with a red marble colonnade running along the apse wall and framing the statues of the four evangelists, a staff glory, and a polychrome marble altar. Above the stalls are six large paintings. Three of them are signed Thierry and depict scenes from the life of Moses; the other three are works by the Montpellier painter Raoux and show scenes from the lives of Constantine and his mother, Saint Helena. The sacristy was built in 1443 by Bishop William of Montjoie, at the same time as the chapter house, and the walls are partly covered with ancient frescoes, restored in 1917. These frescoes were seriously damaged during the Wars of Religion, then coated with a whitewash that had to be removed later. They date from the 14th and 15th centuries and adorn the walls of many chapels: the Chapel of the Holy Spirit and the Chapel of the Dead in particular.

The cathedral is very beautiful and transmits so much peace. The staff is friendly, unfortunately that day there were two weddings and we couldn't get into the top of the cathedral. Everything else, a must-see place in Béziers

Magnificent cathedral! The most beautiful I have ever visited. Splendid paintings, paintings telling the incredible story of Jesus. I love it. The stained glass windows are incredible. The view is breathtaking from the outside.I recommend you visit this while passing through Béziers. The city is beautiful and very old. She is attached to her history.

Points of Interest & Landmarks
Les Halles de Béziers is a large covered market spanning 2800 square meters, making it one of the largest in France for fresh produce. The market hosts local traders offering a wide range of products, from farm-fresh produce to wines. Housed in an original cast-iron building dating back to 1891, this bustling market is open daily (except Mondays) and offers an array of local fruits, vegetables, meats, and seafood.
A perfect place for a delightful apéro: There are at least two well-stocked wine counters, offering a wide selection of excellent local wines. You’ll find an impressive cheese market where you can pick anything your heart desires. And for true food lovers, there’s exceptional Spanish ham—both Iberico and Serrano—fresh, flavorful, and a real treat for those who appreciate quality.

Great verity of food and drink options! However, the one that stands out is the fresh seafood spot. Great presentation, delicious flavours and great customer service. Highly recommend!

Absolutely a wonderful place where you can enjoy delicious, affordable, yet refined food. The foie gras for just €8 was outstanding, and the wine selection is fantastic. There’s a great variety of cuisines — seafood, cheeses, meats, and more. Highly recommend this spot for a truly enjoyable meal!

An important stop for a bite to eat during your day in Beziers, the people who serve the place are very friendly. The place is clean and doesn't smell bad. I had to go during a medieval festival, so there was music but it's appreciated. I recommend visiting it calmly

We visited this once vibrant marked 8 years ago. After the rearrangement in 2024 it looks and feels like the most sterile French food exhibition. It has been deprived of any charm.

Pica-Pica, located on Boulevard Jean Jaures in Beziers, France, is a tapas restaurant known for its stylish ambiance and a fusion of French and Spanish cuisine. Another notable dining spot in the area is Le Chameau Ivre, also offering tapas on La Place Jean Jaures.
Upscale dining spot off the Beziers promenade. Great wine list, but surprised only a single option for wine by the glass, and it was a mediocre choice. Cod fish and duck dishes were very good. The server was unable to explain the menu or wine choices well. He also forgot to bring cafe with the dessert. The creme brulee was refreshing, no egg, just Chantilly cream with a citron sorbet in the middle with a crispy sugar crust over the whole bowl, different.

Such a great meal In a beautiful restaurant. Service was great. Wonderful to sit outside and just enjoy the summer evening. We had some excellent oysters and the fillet steak that followed was cooked to perfection. Pricing was on the higher end but totally reflective of the qualifying produce. Will come again!

Our party of 5 ordered 11 dishes and we enjoyed them all. Portions were not large, but enough for each of us to have a taste of the delicious food. The service was friendly and attentive enough. Decor was interesting. We would go here again.

At the recommendation of Chateau Raissac, we ventured into Beziers for dinner as a last minute decision. A reservation was necessary as it was very busy. A warm welcome set the tone for a great dining experience. Set in an older building that has been purpose built to accommodate a central kitchen, we were seated promptly, although we arrived early. Pre dinner drinks were cold and refreshing, and the food we chose did not disappoint. We shared the tuna and lamb dishes which were both tasty and generous in portion size. Topped off with churro for dessert, we enjoyed a great meal and experience as we matched the expert chefs go about their work. This was probably the best meal we have so far enjoyed over the last month in France.

From the moment we arrived at Pica -Pica we were warmly welcomed by a very attentive hostess, setting the tone for a wonderful dining experience. Our server, Mathieu, was exceptional knowledgeable in recommending the top cuisine from appetizers to main dish, he was friendly, and truly elevated our evening. We started with the house specialty hummus, which was beautifully plated and full of bold, fresh flavors. The goat cheese ravioli was delicate and rich, a perfect balance. For the main course, we chose the cod dish, which was an absolute standout. The presentation was artistic, and the flavors were nothing short of exquisite, each bite a delight to the palate. Whether you’re local or visiting Béziers, we highly recommend making a stop at Pica Pica. The service, atmosphere, and cuisine all come together to create an unforgettable dining experience.

Beautiful gardens, fountains, sculptures. Quite hilly though! Gardens very well kept and paths tidy and litter free. Great place to wander around for an hour or so. (Note that my wife lay down for a nap on one of the benches for 20 minutes or so and later discovered many insect bites so beware!)

La Plancha des Halles is a vibrant and historic restaurant located in the Beziers Market Hall. Run by the Vaquerin family, known for their rugby legacy, this colorful spot offers a lively atmosphere with singing, bell ringing, guitar music, and the tenor voice of Floreal Vaquerin. The restaurant prides itself on serving fresh seasonal products sourced from the market stalls to create simple yet exquisite culinary experiences.
Quick service and delicious free olives provided by the friendly bar man. The food looked hearty (we didn't have time to eat, unfortunately). Drinks prices were reasonable, and the atmosphere was relaxed and the place seemed popular with locals (always a good sign). Well worth a visit.

Very nice location and good food. Was very happy with the place, until I overheard the waiters criticising us for our order. According to them we were bad eaters, which I would disagree taken that we ordered two kid menus, several tapas, drinks, and coofees for a party of two adults and two children. I found their comment very unprofessional and disrespectful, especially taken that we are a foreign family speaking another language but bilingual in French.

A nice menu. Good choice. Freshly prepared. A little bit of a long wait for our mains. No real issue as we weren’t in a rush. The confit pork belly was excellent. Polite and engaging staff.

Ordered an entrecôte and a burger, after a starter. The starter did come, the main arrived after 1 hour when we were already in the line to pay the bill. Additionally, they don't seem to control the other patrons around the tables and this leads to some unrequested and unnecessary situations. Really not a place that I would recommend.

Rosie K — Google review
Le Chameau Ivre ( The Drunken Camel) was described by some loyal clients as the "best restaurant " in Béziers and was looking forward to a meal here a second time. For dinner, it's either a Menu Diner for 41 euros or Menu Découverte for 58 euros. Our party of six opted for the Menu diner and one ordered à la carte. For appetizers, the marinated anchovies were very tasty but the mullet carpaccio bland. For main, three of us ordered Scallops ( St. Jacques) with mushrooms. Hmm , the scallops are supposed to be the "star" of the dish but there were a mere three medium sized scallops on a bed of mushrooms and brown coulis, which overpowered the seafood. Moreover, there were pieces of what seemed like prawn crackers, but were not crispy but hard to bite into . This is, for me, a forgettable dish. The others ordered quail with mushrooms, celery and hazelnuts and were highly satisfied with their choice. For dessert, the choco mocha was a 5/5, the Pavlova was short on fruits on coulis ( disappointing) while the Paris Brest Noisette was ho hum. The server who took our orders was very knowledgeable about the dishes but good service ended there. It was on the slow side, especially between the appetizer and the main, most likely because the restaurant had already filled up to the brim. Portions are not generous so beware if you have a huge appetite. 😂 The atmosphere is cozy but a lot of seats are on bar stools with half back support.

This was an amazing dining experience. The food was delectable and the wine offered everything an oenophile could want (a sommelier takes your order even fircwines by the glass). The turbo, peas and Pavlova(dessert) were so special I can't even describe them but if you are in Beziers you should not miss this special place.

From the outside, this place looked like a great restaurant. I stopped in for a glass of wine and was offered a local sparkling wine for €8 a glass. Unfortunately, I was really disappointed by the amount they served—it was far too little. I understand not filling the glass completely, but this was barely anything. I mentioned it to the server, and their response was, “It should be like this.” Really? Is that what you truly believe? And beyond that, if a customer expresses dissatisfaction after paying for a service, shouldn’t you try to address the issue? I took the time to write this because the experience genuinely frustrated me.

This place is wonderful, charming and adorable. And they serve excellent food! I had the squid, really delicious. The surroundings are lovely, inside has a nostalgic vibe and there is a fab walled terrace out the back. It’s tardis-like in how deceptively big it is inside. The waitress could not have been more friendly and welcoming and was very willing to enjoy language some translation banter. Nothing was too much trouble. The menu had several meat and fish dishes but also some pasta and a large selection of pizzas. Something for everyone. Very good value for money.

Staff were very accommodating and brought out an extra table to fit us in for the evening. The food was amazing (we had the steak entrecôte and tagliatelle puttanesca), as was the service. Would recommend.

Had a great dinner here recently. We were the only ones in the dining room as everyone else was out on the terrace, but it was too cold for us. I had the duck, which was fabulous and a huge big serving and my husband had the pizza Albanti, also very large, but he managed to eat it and loved it. No room for desserts unfortunately. The two ladies running the restaurant are delightful and warm, efficient but fun. Great night.

The best Magret de Canard in Béziers. Go the extra mile and order the pepper sauce. Excellent and friendly service.

After a little search we found Les Louis, (it is under the road, look for the statue ). We arrived late for our table, but was greeted with a big smile from the chef. We were shown to our table in a beautiful little rustic courtyard. Our waitress, Cecile was superb and helpful. The four of us had excellent meals, us ladies had pizzas to die for and the boys one had a steak he said was the best in Beziers and the other had veal Milanese. Only one minor suggestion, we ordered a mushroom sauce as the veal came without one. Would have loved a tomato sauce as an option. Just a small thing. We will make Les Louis a fortnightly stop from now on.

A perfect lunch just across from the train station. The €39 set lunch menu is a bargain. Good wine selection including half bottles. Each course was perfectly timed and a visual delight. A symphony of textures and flavours.

We enjoyed a superb meal while on holidays in Beziers. Every dish was amazing and perfect portions. The selection of cheese was fabulous and the chefs tasters in between courses a lovely surprise. Highly recommend this restaurant!

Day 2

Center of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the center side of town. Start the day off with Polygone Béziers, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Le Taj Mahal. All together, your day would be filled with about 8 hours of non-stop fun.

Shopping mall
Polygone Béziers is a stunning shopping center that seamlessly integrates natural elements into its design. It boasts a wide array of shops and boutiques, including renowned global brands like Sketchers, Mango, H&M, and Zara. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely shopping experience or simply hang out and have fun at this vibrant mall. Families with children will appreciate the various attractions tailored to younger visitors.
I liked the shopping center, I traveled from Narbonne to Béziers and I was surprised by the place, variety of shops and in seasons with good discounts.
Sergio P — Google review
Great shopping centre love the inside outside concept. But need better lifts and cheaper parking. 8 euros today for less than 3 hours all due to appaling service at Hippotomaus restaurant. My tip would be to eat before arrival rather than be charged to eat.
Zoe K — Google review
Concentration of major stores on three levels, but a well placed directory would be helpful. Restaurants on top level are disappointing. Parking garage is confusing. Difficult to find public toilets. I much prefer smaller stores within the city center.
Garet W — Google review
Absolutely a ripoff for parking. You are encouraged to sign up for the loyalty card to get 4 hours free, but you have to scan the physical card before paying. They don't tell you that you find out afterwards. Cost is exorbitantly excessive. I stayed locally and parked at the Polygone. When I came to pay, it cost €56 for just 11 hours with no discount. Don't waste your money. Some street parking is free after 1730 overnight, and much more is absolutely free. I complained about the excessive cost, they don't care. If I could give a negative feedback score, I would give -50 .
Ian H — Google review
Great shopping centre with lots of choice and lots of restaurants! Very tranquil feeling lower ground with the water, trees and fresh water fish...
Peter L — Google review
Nice shopping centre - but disappointed by the toilets. I needed to take my 4 year old daughter to the loo. Unfortunately, the loos were difficult to find and when we eventually found them, we had to queue up to buy a ticket (for 50 cents) from the machine. I bought one, which I thought I could use in the baby changing room (since there was no other obvious place I could take a child), but there was no loo! ... So had to go back and buy another ticket to accompany my daughter in the adult loos... Only to find the ticket I had used for the baby changing room was no longer valid, so had to queue for a third time and another 50 cents! Eventually I worked it out by which point my daughter was bursting. Obviously, I had to take her into gents, but cubicles didn't seem very child friendly. Clearly this place has not been designed with children in mind.
Simon D — Google review
Very interesting and upscale shops. Not outrageously priced. Parking is expensive if you don't get a discount card when you purchase something. Good food court.

Such a lovely centre with a wide range of stores and restaurants, shame there is an area on the top floor that is not used why not have small stalls in the space for Xmas goods

Arènes de Béziers, located in the charming city of Beziers in southern France, is not your typical sports arena. Built in 1897 with lavish Spanish architectural influence, it was originally intended for bullfights and continues to host them to this day. In addition to bullfights, the arena also hosts concerts, tennis tournaments, international wrestling galas, and even ice-skating events.
Nice and traditional arena. We came from Switzerland to watch a Bullfight. It was an awesome experience. We recommend highly the Féria de Béziers, which is held annually in August.
Carlos M — Google review
I am not into bullfighting so this is more of a review of the Arènes de Béziers from a historical and cultural point of view. For residents, August can be a boon or a bane as it the month of the feria when hordes of tourists descend on the city to watch bullfighting or simply take part in the merrymaking. True, the feria brings in revenue to businesses but for those who live near the arena, the noise level can be bothersome. There are several nice restaurants directly facing the arena, a protected heritage site completed in 1901 by architects Carlier, father and son. They mixed bricks, cut stone and reinforced cement. The arena hosts not only (bullfighting activities, introduced in the south of France in the 19th century) but also concerts.
Marlene P — Google review
Good open air venue for music, shows and food/beverage festivals (NB bullfights are a rarity now, never seen one). You need tickets for most gigs. Seats near the front are quite close together, but you get the best views. Usually hosts a free orchestra event with fireworks during the Béziers feria.
Nicole G — Google review
It's a beautiful arena. However, bull fighting was not for us.

La Maison de Petit Pierre is a stylish bistro-style restaurant located at 22 Avenue Pierre Verdier, Beziers, France. The restaurant offers daily changing menus and features a charming garden and patio for outdoor dining. Owned by Pierre Auge, also known as Petit Pierre, the restaurant has a rich history dating back to the late seventies when he took over his father's restaurant in Beziers. After winning Top Chef 2014, he transformed the establishment into La Maison de Petit Pierre.
We loved everything about this place. The decoration was beautiful. The staff were nice and very helpful. The chef even went to say hi and ask if everything was ok. The food was amazing, all the dishes were very good. I loved every single dish. The price is reasonable. Big plus for having high chairs for babies. Amazing restaurant, great food. Will definitely come back

Faultless. Really enjoyed our surprise meal. My pork was the best I’ve tasted all year. Efficient, friendly service. The vibe is boho beach. It’s a large restaurant so not intimate but still good for dating couples and large groups. Reasonable prices.

Where to begin! Without doubt one of the best dining experiences we have had. The service from the start to the end was exemplary. The atmosphere is tasteful and fun....and then there is the food. Each course wonderfully explained despite the language barrier. The care and commitment to turn amazing produce into fantastic dining is quite brilliant. I felt like each dish particularly the entree, was literally summer described on a plate for me to taste. Thank you, it was a privilage to have experienced such a great restaurant and your staff are all so well trained, they are a credit to you.

“A beautiful fiasco” After a lukewarm welcome it felt like you had to leave in 10 minutes. Since it was our anniversary we wanted to start with a nice glass of champagne which before it arrived was already the drink for the amuse which was almost on the table before we sat down. And before we had the chance to finish our amuse the entree was being served. No mention of a wine list or anything else to drink with our actual menu. After asking we received the wine list and since it’s not really a list made the choice somewhat difficult. We asked our nice waiter if he had a suggestion, which he had. He kindly served a glass to taste but apparently it was just a glass instead of the bottle we ordered. After some back and forth they were able to find the bottle with our two glasses missing from it instead of the new bottle they wanted to open on top of the two glasses. Then the main dish arrived, again too fast after asking if they could please slow down a tiny bit, a filet of dorade certainly not royal. Cooked sous vide and barely finished on a half hot plate among 20 other filets all gently waiting to be served. When asked if we liked it, we didn’t have a poker face, which apparently came across as an attack on a personal level and not on the quality of the fish. Plates removed without hesitation with the notice we would get the same. We asked how it was prepared we got the answer “pan”. I don’t say this lightly but I’ve never seen a restaurant without any pans until today. No pans, no smell of butter and two “chefs” in the kitchen heating up dishes. I guess there’s a fine line between catering and a restaurant but sadly I would not call this a restaurant or a very good catering business. Still we try to be nice customers in general, so we tried to pay (multiple times) for the produce we had until that point. We were told we should not worry about the money and we could leave immediately. So if you’re looking for an experience close to sitting in your high school Mensa or canteen this is the place for you. If not maybe, don’t go. I hope they just had a bad week. The season was long which we understand. But in the end it’s called hospitality. 1 Star.
Jelle B — Google review
Very nice and creative food. Nice seasoning, copious amount of food and a really reasonable pricing for the quality and quantity of the good. A very good selection of wine too. The atmosphere is nice but with so many tables, it feels a bit like a chain because so many people need to eat at the same time. Beware of the time you need to eat though, we arrived at 12:00, took the biggest menu and we were out at 15:30 after a coffee. It can get quite hot on the terrace but it's fresher if you eat indoors. They ask about food allergies and preferences before hand so you're likely to have alternative options if there's some stuff you don't eat.

Le Taj Mahal is a British Indian restaurant located in South France, offering reasonably priced food with French and English-speaking waiters. The restaurant serves a variety of Indian dishes, from spicy curries to sweeter Kormas, accompanied by homemade bread with cheese. Customers can also enjoy Indian beers and benefit from delivery services within a 25-30km radius. While some patrons find the portion sizes slightly small for the price, many praise the delicious flavors and excellent service at this establishment.
Great meal as usual. Great food, great service. As a vegetarian and a vegan my daughter and I always get a good choice here.

First of all: the food was delicious, the portion sizes were generous and the prizes were reasonable. However we ordered 5min after the restaurant opened and still waited two full hours for our food to arrive. They called us soon after we had ordered to announce that we’d have to wait an hour / 1.25h. After calling twice and waiting another hour the food finally arrived lukewarm. Granted, it was New Years Eve, but we were disappointed in the delivery service and starving by the time it arrived. Would not recommend ordering, but eating in could be nice.

We had been looking for a good Indian restaurant in Hérault for ages and finally found this little gem. Excellent food!!! Highly recommended! Large selection of starters. The Korma is simply magnificent and the Taj Mahal special was equally excellent with a very generous amount of meat. Peshwari Nan and Lassi simply adorable! LA SUITE - Bar & Brasserie, Tapas à la Française Béziers is a delightful restaurant located conveniently near the Arena. It offers delicious food at reasonable prices and provides excellent service. While the main dish could have been slightly more generous in portion size, overall, the dining experience was satisfying. For two people, including two main dishes, three glasses of wine, one dessert, and a cheese plate, the total bill came to 45 units of currency.
We stumbled upon this place by chance and it was a gem! The burrata was one of the best I’ve ever had, and the béarnaise sauce from the stake was unforgettable.

L'ALTER-NATIVE is a new addition to Beziers, brought by renowned chef Gilles Goujon and his family. This restaurant marks their return to the city where they grew up and serves as a platform for his talented sons Enzo and Axel, who are both chefs. The kitchen is led by Quentin Pellestor, ensuring top-notch culinary experiences. The spacious venue offers an elegant dining area overseen by Frederic Rouen.

Great experience. We‘ve just had lunch in L‘Alter-Native and are both very delighted: the food and its presentation and taste, the staff and its service, the sommelier and its wines, the atmosphere - everything was amazing. Even the kids (3&6 years) were taken care of and thus happy. Thank you guys!
V. D — Google review
L’Alter Native is the new second restaurant, fish-centric, of the great chef Gilles Goujon. Quality and experience worthy of his name. I share three memorable dishes: Carpaccio of mullet: fish sliced paper-thin, marinated in a sauce of tomato, lemon, nut oil, and miso, topped with fish eggs. Galette estofinade: a little cake of potato, smoked cod, and trout, topped with caviar and surrounded by fish-stock foam. Pavé de maigre roti: a thick-cut steak of baked corvina fish, topped with a brown fish-bone reduction sauce.

During a recent visit to Beziers, we had the pleasure of dining at L'Alternative, a restaurant known for its fusion cuisine. We opted for the 7-course tasting menu, eager to experience the chef's creativity. The meal started promisingly with beautifully presented dishes that showcased the chef's flair for visual appeal, though they didn't quite reach the level of outstanding. The best aspects of the dining experience were undoubtedly the vegetable dishes, which featured ingredients fresh from the garden. These plates stood out for their vibrant flavors and clear dedication to high-quality, local produce. The turbot was another highlight, perfectly cooked and elegantly presented. Each bite was a testament to the chef's skill in handling seafood, making it a memorable part of the meal. The wine list at L'Alternative was impressive, offering a comprehensive selection that catered to all tastes and budgets. Whether you're a connoisseur or simply looking for a good pairing, there's something for everyone. We chose to sit outside, and it was a delightful choice. The evening was pleasant, and the outdoor ambience added a lovely touch to our dining experience. The staff were friendly and helpful, enhancing our overall enjoyment with their attentive service. However, despite the beautiful presentation and the quality of the ingredients, the overall taste of the dishes didn't quite deliver the "wow" factor we were hoping for. The fusion of flavors, while good, lacked the boldness and excitement that makes a meal truly unforgettable. In summary, L'Alternative offers a pleasant dining experience with high points in its vegetable dishes and wine selection. While the taste might not have been extraordinary, the perfect turbot and pleasant ambience make it worth a visit, especially if you appreciate fresh, garden-sourced ingredients and a varied wine list.

Multiplex cinema. Not a huge amount else to say but loads of car parking, loads of space, the usual amusements and boxes of popcorn large enough to live in.

The Pont Vieux, also known as the Old Bridge, is a magnificent structure that dates back to the 12th century and is still in use today. It holds great historical significance and offers stunning views of Beziers, including the Cathedral and L'Orb River. The bridge has been reconstructed to ensure safety for modern vehicles crossing it. History enthusiasts can explore this ancient bridge as well as visit the Musee du Biterrois to learn about the city's heritage.
Such a nice little side trip on our way to Toulouse. There is free parking and a free toilet before you cross the bridge. Beautiful little town.

Iconic pont setting with church on top of hill. There are elavators on every level. No need to worry about climbing the stairs. From bridge/river level to the top at the church….the icon bridge level view is not to be missed. Even though the paroramic view at the top is a must too……

Very nice bridge. And ideal for best photos if the town. I took this from parallel modern bridge with the flowers. You cross it also in the petit train. But walking is good to get a good view. Both bridges are connected through foodpath.

Pont Vieux, the old bridge. Great for a walk with superb views of the city of Beziers, the Cathedral and L'Orb River. There are some wonderful photo opportunities here with L'Orb offering some mirror like reflections at times. The bridge itself was one of the few places in Beziers that was fouled with dog mess so mind your step when crossing.

Mediterranean restaurant
Le Patio is a traditional restaurant located in the heart of Beziers, offering homemade Mediterranean cuisine made from fresh, seasonal ingredients. The restaurant features a charming courtyard where guests can dine surrounded by an olive tree and twinkling lights. The interior boasts modern and cozy decor in warm terracotta shades. While the patio provides a beautiful setting for dining, some guests have noted that smoking can be bothersome despite the area being covered.
This was our favourite restaurant visit - it’s truly outstanding. The outdoor patio area is beautiful, especially as the sun moves over it. We went at lunchtime and had the fixed menu - steak & potato and then a cheese course. We also had a few glasses of Alberino. All of the food & drink was amazing & the waitress was really lovely too.

Great cuisine. But don’t make a reservation for 1.30 am,kitchen is already closed and you will have only one dish PS.Unfortunately instead of apologies I received answer from 3d foto. It’s not true,we came at 1.33.Beziers is small but not too small to be late 15 minutes 😃 And our waiter told us that their chef has problems with reservations. And this situation is not first time. And it was our wedding anniversary.

Had a lovely meal with the family at Le patio. Service was amazing. Food was excellent. The vibe and music was perfect. Olive tree in the middle with fairy lights such a perfect spot for our last night here. Thank you so much!

The food in this place is outstanding. This was my second visit here, this time with my girlfriend instead of my daughter. She was particularly impressed with the attentiveness of the manager Remi who despite a busy evening at Le Patio, took time to explain the food choices and wine selection. Highly recommend
Stevo P — Google review
We visited this wonderful restaurant twice during our stay in Béziers - once for lunch and once for dinner. We were enticed both by the reviews and by the pictures of the lovely patio. Unfortunately, we were seated inside on both occasions, but this was entirely our own fault - this is a popular restaurant and we were not organised enough to make reservation, even though this seems a very straightforward process on the website. However, the interior of the restaurant, with its exposed stone walls, is also very pleasant. On our lunchtime visit, we chose the set menu. We had a delicious poached egg with a mushroom sauce, veal skirt and a wonderful rice pudding with caramel. A drink is also included, making this menu excellent value. On our evening visit, I chose the meagre fish, which was served with polenta and a hint of fish soup, while my mother had the cod, which was served with beans and a garlic emulsion. Both dishes were exquisitely presented with very interesting flavours and textures. For dessert, which both had the chocolate finger, which was also wonderful, and we both felt that the description in the menu did not do justice to the perfect combination of a chocolate mouse, sitting on top of a delicious biscuit containing candied orange. The dish was completed by generous dots of a wonderfully rich caramel sauce. Our meals were completed by very nice rosé wine, and extremely good coffee. Service was both friendly and efficient.

The best meal we had during our stay in the Languedoc. Beautiful setting under the olive tree in the courtyard and attentive and friendly service. The food was wonderful, a perfect balance of textures and flavours in all three of the courses we had. What's more, the price was very reasonable for the quality of the meal. Highly recommended

(Translated by Google) So disappointed. Long time customer, having not ordered for a while I let myself be tempted. What a disappointment. The bread is no longer homemade, the meat is dry, the sauce non-existent, the smoked brisket replaced by bacon (it's still not the same taste, eh), requested without tomato, received with tomato. Even the fry sauce has changed. Change of ownership or let go?? What a shame, I recommended you to everyone around me, that will no longer be the case, no pleasure in this burger. It was the last time for me... Where do I start with this place? Truly amazing! The staff is really really friendly! They welcome you and make you feel right at home! They helped me with the phone battery by letting me charge my phone and truly cared I got enough time so my phone's battery is sufficient for my calls! Besides that, I truly enjoyed their lemonade! Highly recommend this place!

Pleasant summer evening setting in the square behind the cathedral. Attentive and pleasant service, although the server was taking care of all the tables so service was leisurely, but it's Friday evening in the South of France so who cares? The food was outstanding. Fresh and clean gazpacho with a tiny hint of spice. A generous entree serving of tuna tataki. A delicate cod gratin on black rice with grilled vegetables, delicious. All good. Then I returned for lunch the next day. A different person was waiting tables. I asked him if we could have one of the tables in the shade and he responded that no, we must sit in the sun because those empty tables were for customers who might arrive for bar service. So we left. Quelle dommage. Les Bon Ami next door gave us a nice table in the shade. :-)

Lovely setting and courtyard dining. Really friendly service and excellent cod with aioli and black rice. We ate here once but had aperitif/beers most nights as it is a sun trap for the early evening sun (6pm+). Perfect.

The food tasted like it was spoiled and was pretty bland, absoluty NO good food. There were a lot of choices, but it just wouldn’t hit. Some servers were better, than the others so decent service. The place is nice, but that is the only good thing.

Ordered 2 tapas between 4 people. Food was delicious. The ginger server seemed to support that this is the correct french amount to order. We bantered back and forth and he gave us dinner for free! €66!! Would recommend asking about them doing so in future as they seemed happy to accommodate this request! Very generous.

Today on the 11 July, I visited the Brasserie du Palais. At first I thought maybe we'd better leave because the male waiter was really exceptionally unfriendly to foreigners, my thought were eased as the service was taken over by a waitress.
