Worth the walk for this historical spectacle. It's about half an hour for the able bodied, with nice views back across L'Orb and to the Cathedral. For the less mobile, the little train takes you from the Cathedral to the locks and return with interesting facts about the locality en route. Toilets and cafe at the top of the locks, plus option to take a canal boat trip. Best booked in advance in busy periods.

Absolutely worth visiting. Buy a ticket for the canal tour. It will take you up the locks which is a nice experience. Beautiful area and go into Beziers after. Visiting the locks is a half day trip. The boat tour is 1 hour and 15 mins.

A masterpiece still in operation, these 9 locks that follow one another, you should not hesitate to visit this place. In excellent condition and very well laid out, you can follow the paths along the canal and arrive near the very beautiful and old bridge. From Toulouse, the Canal du Midi reaches Béziers via a 54-kilometer-long reach (a section of canal without locks). Over this distance, the canal remains at an altitude of 31.54 meters. But at Fonseranes, the canal must descend a steep 25-meter drop to reach the Orb, a necessary passage for boats heading to Agde. To establish the connection between the canal and the Orb, an extraordinary lock was built. Thanks to a successful initial experiment in Castelnaudary, Riquet knew that the secret lay in a lock with multiple chambers. Faced with the significant difference in altitude, Riquet and his works director decided to add eight chambers, twice as many as those of the Saint-Roch lock in Castelnaudary ! Work on the Fonseranes lock began in 1667 and was completed in 1680. The structure is impressive! At 315 meters long and with a total drop of 21.18 meters, this lock ladder is the largest ever built in France ...

A rather exceptional engineering feat built in the 17th century to create a navigable route from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean. In addition to being a spectacular series of locks in short succession, the canal has a tunnel, several cool bridges including one for the canal to cross above the river. I recommend obtaining details about the history to appreciate it best. Boat tours are long if you take the roundtrip, might be best to join a tour only do the way back down, going towards the Mediterranean.

A wonderful feat of engineering. Lovely and informative video in the information centre ( 3 Euro) Watching the boats pass through the locks, very interesting - especially when one of the gates won't shut. Pleasent walk from Beziers, through the old port area, which is going to be restored and across the old town bridge.

Been here a coupke of times before. Now you can only walk on one side of them but still nice and its actually better for taking photos without a lot of people.

A dream come true passing through the Fonseranes. Absolutely a marvel and one of the best parts of the Canal du Midi. It takes about 45 minutes to pass through with timed entry in the morning and afternoon depending on direction.

Very beautiful place, dated back to the 13th century. You can actually climb to the top of the tower to have a bird view of the city. On the way there you will reach a balcony where you can see the church better as well.

Beautiful cathedral well worth visiting. Be sure to also visit the peaceful cloisters. There is currently an art exhibition there.

A magnificent emblem of Béziers, visible from afar, as if perched atop the Roman and medieval ramparts of the ancient city. Indeed, on the "Béziers acropolis," the majestic and austere Cathedral of Saint-Nazaire and Saint-Celse watches over the city. Anchored on a rocky promontory, overlooking the city, the Southern Gothic-style building stands on the remains of a Roman temple and a Romanesque church destroyed and burned during the Crusade against the Cathars in 1209 by the troops of the King and the Pope, commanded by Arnaud Amaury. Today, the cathedral is dominated by a 48-meter-high square tower topped by a turret housing an iron campanile with a late 18th-century bell. The upper part, dating from the 15th century, is adorned with columns, each base of which represents a human face. The bell tower houses a 4-ton bell named after Mary, cast by François Granier, the second most important bell in the region after the bell of Montpellier Cathedral. Numerous gargoyles, some requiring renovation, adorn the cathedral walls. Richly crafted 14th-century ironwork grilles protect the choir's stained-glass windows. Impressive in its size, the building houses 14th-century frescoes, a splendid 17th-century organ case, and a large rose window with a diameter of ten meters. Its magnificent grand organ is installed on a gallery at the end of the nave, whose organ case, in the Louis XIII style and the work of Guillaume Martois, dates from 1633. Its instrumental part also dates largely from the 17th century. It features Romanesque columns and capitals, vestiges of the Romanesque cathedral, but the majority of the columns date from the Gothic period. The transverse arches supporting the vault are from the 14th century. The supports of the galleries, located in the nave, near the choir, feature friezes with triglyphs and metopes. These friezes are imitations of the degenerate Gallo-Roman style, dating from the Romanesque period (12th century). The choir contains ancient stained-glass windows from the Gothic period. It was extensively remodeled in the 18th century in the Baroque style with a red marble colonnade running along the apse wall and framing the statues of the four evangelists, a staff glory, and a polychrome marble altar. Above the stalls are six large paintings. Three of them are signed Thierry and depict scenes from the life of Moses; the other three are works by the Montpellier painter Raoux and show scenes from the lives of Constantine and his mother, Saint Helena. The sacristy was built in 1443 by Bishop William of Montjoie, at the same time as the chapter house, and the walls are partly covered with ancient frescoes, restored in 1917. These frescoes were seriously damaged during the Wars of Religion, then coated with a whitewash that had to be removed later. They date from the 14th and 15th centuries and adorn the walls of many chapels: the Chapel of the Holy Spirit and the Chapel of the Dead in particular.

Magnificent cathedral! The most beautiful I have ever visited. Splendid paintings, paintings telling the incredible story of Jesus. I love it. The stained glass windows are incredible. The view is breathtaking from the outside.I recommend you visit this while passing through Béziers. The city is beautiful and very old. She is attached to her history.

We visited this once vibrant marked 8 years ago. After the rearrangement in 2024 it looks and feels like the most sterile French food exhibition. It has been deprived of any charm.

Such a great meal In a beautiful restaurant. Service was great. Wonderful to sit outside and just enjoy the summer evening. We had some excellent oysters and the fillet steak that followed was cooked to perfection. Pricing was on the higher end but totally reflective of the qualifying produce. Will come again!

Our party of 5 ordered 11 dishes and we enjoyed them all. Portions were not large, but enough for each of us to have a taste of the delicious food. The service was friendly and attentive enough. Decor was interesting. We would go here again.

At the recommendation of Chateau Raissac, we ventured into Beziers for dinner as a last minute decision. A reservation was necessary as it was very busy. A warm welcome set the tone for a great dining experience. Set in an older building that has been purpose built to accommodate a central kitchen, we were seated promptly, although we arrived early. Pre dinner drinks were cold and refreshing, and the food we chose did not disappoint. We shared the tuna and lamb dishes which were both tasty and generous in portion size. Topped off with churro for dessert, we enjoyed a great meal and experience as we matched the expert chefs go about their work. This was probably the best meal we have so far enjoyed over the last month in France.

From the moment we arrived at Pica -Pica we were warmly welcomed by a very attentive hostess, setting the tone for a wonderful dining experience. Our server, Mathieu, was exceptional knowledgeable in recommending the top cuisine from appetizers to main dish, he was friendly, and truly elevated our evening. We started with the house specialty hummus, which was beautifully plated and full of bold, fresh flavors. The goat cheese ravioli was delicate and rich, a perfect balance. For the main course, we chose the cod dish, which was an absolute standout. The presentation was artistic, and the flavors were nothing short of exquisite, each bite a delight to the palate. Whether you’re local or visiting Béziers, we highly recommend making a stop at Pica Pica. The service, atmosphere, and cuisine all come together to create an unforgettable dining experience.

A beautiful park in the heart of Beziers. A peaceful spot to sit and watch the city go by, visit the parrots, listen to the water, or watch the birds.

Beautiful gardens, fountains, sculptures. Quite hilly though! Gardens very well kept and paths tidy and litter free. Great place to wander around for an hour or so. (Note that my wife lay down for a nap on one of the benches for 20 minutes or so and later discovered many insect bites so beware!)

Beautiful gardens and park with plenty of benches and shade on a hot day. From the station, take the underpass and the entrance is just in front of the war memorial. The pathways are quite steep. There is a children's play area and a small lake with a water feature.

Very nice location and good food. Was very happy with the place, until I overheard the waiters criticising us for our order. According to them we were bad eaters, which I would disagree taken that we ordered two kid menus, several tapas, drinks, and coofees for a party of two adults and two children. I found their comment very unprofessional and disrespectful, especially taken that we are a foreign family speaking another language but bilingual in French.

A nice menu. Good choice. Freshly prepared. A little bit of a long wait for our mains. No real issue as we weren’t in a rush. The confit pork belly was excellent. Polite and engaging staff.

Ordered an entrecôte and a burger, after a starter. The starter did come, the main arrived after 1 hour when we were already in the line to pay the bill. Additionally, they don't seem to control the other patrons around the tables and this leads to some unrequested and unnecessary situations. Really not a place that I would recommend.

Fast and very friendly service, and a fun atmosphere. My meal was cooked almost to death, despite ordering medium rare. My wife's Croque Monsieur was very uninspired, and the frites were cold. There are plenty of other options in Les Halles and the neighborhood.

Le Chameau Ivre ( The Drunken Camel) was described by some loyal clients as the "best restaurant " in Béziers and was looking forward to a meal here a second time. For dinner, it's either a Menu Diner for 41 euros or Menu Découverte for 58 euros. Our party of six opted for the Menu diner and one ordered à la carte. For appetizers, the marinated anchovies were very tasty but the mullet carpaccio bland. For main, three of us ordered Scallops ( St. Jacques) with mushrooms. Hmm , the scallops are supposed to be the "star" of the dish but there were a mere three medium sized scallops on a bed of mushrooms and brown coulis, which overpowered the seafood. Moreover, there were pieces of what seemed like prawn crackers, but were not crispy but hard to bite into . This is, for me, a forgettable dish. The others ordered quail with mushrooms, celery and hazelnuts and were highly satisfied with their choice. For dessert, the choco mocha was a 5/5, the Pavlova was short on fruits on coulis ( disappointing) while the Paris Brest Noisette was ho hum. The server who took our orders was very knowledgeable about the dishes but good service ended there. It was on the slow side, especially between the appetizer and the main, most likely because the restaurant had already filled up to the brim. Portions are not generous so beware if you have a huge appetite. 😂 The atmosphere is cozy but a lot of seats are on bar stools with half back support.

This was an amazing dining experience. The food was delectable and the wine offered everything an oenophile could want (a sommelier takes your order even fircwines by the glass). The turbo, peas and Pavlova(dessert) were so special I can't even describe them but if you are in Beziers you should not miss this special place.

From the outside, this place looked like a great restaurant. I stopped in for a glass of wine and was offered a local sparkling wine for €8 a glass. Unfortunately, I was really disappointed by the amount they served—it was far too little. I understand not filling the glass completely, but this was barely anything. I mentioned it to the server, and their response was, “It should be like this.” Really? Is that what you truly believe? And beyond that, if a customer expresses dissatisfaction after paying for a service, shouldn’t you try to address the issue? I took the time to write this because the experience genuinely frustrated me.

Great restaurant in an ideal location right beside the cathedral. So nice to sit outside on the terrace and watch the sun set . We ate there 2 nights ( the other time we sat out on the back terrace which is also lovely) . This place is wonderful, charming and adorable. And they serve excellent food! I had the squid, really delicious. The surroundings are lovely, inside has a nostalgic vibe and there is a fab walled terrace out the back. It’s tardis-like in how deceptively big it is inside. The waitress could not have been more friendly and welcoming and was very willing to enjoy language some translation banter. Nothing was too much trouble. The menu had several meat and fish dishes but also some pasta and a large selection of pizzas. Something for everyone. Very good value for money.

Staff were very accommodating and brought out an extra table to fit us in for the evening. The food was amazing (we had the steak entrecôte and tagliatelle puttanesca), as was the service. Would recommend.

Had a great dinner here recently. We were the only ones in the dining room as everyone else was out on the terrace, but it was too cold for us. I had the duck, which was fabulous and a huge big serving and my husband had the pizza Albanti, also very large, but he managed to eat it and loved it. No room for desserts unfortunately. The two ladies running the restaurant are delightful and warm, efficient but fun. Great night.

After a little search we found Les Louis, (it is under the road, look for the statue ). We arrived late for our table, but was greeted with a big smile from the chef. We were shown to our table in a beautiful little rustic courtyard. Our waitress, Cecile was superb and helpful. The four of us had excellent meals, us ladies had pizzas to die for and the boys one had a steak he said was the best in Beziers and the other had veal Milanese. Only one minor suggestion, we ordered a mushroom sauce as the veal came without one. Would have loved a tomato sauce as an option. Just a small thing. We will make Les Louis a fortnightly stop from now on.

A perfect lunch just across from the train station. The €39 set lunch menu is a bargain. Good wine selection including half bottles. Each course was perfectly timed and a visual delight. A symphony of textures and flavours.

Great shopping centre love the inside outside concept. But need better lifts and cheaper parking. 8 euros today for less than 3 hours all due to appaling service at Hippotomaus restaurant. My tip would be to eat before arrival rather than be charged to eat.

Concentration of major stores on three levels, but a well placed directory would be helpful. Restaurants on top level are disappointing. Parking garage is confusing. Difficult to find public toilets. I much prefer smaller stores within the city center.

Absolutely a ripoff for parking. You are encouraged to sign up for the loyalty card to get 4 hours free, but you have to scan the physical card before paying. They don't tell you that you find out afterwards. Cost is exorbitantly excessive. I stayed locally and parked at the Polygone. When I came to pay, it cost €56 for just 11 hours with no discount. Don't waste your money. Some street parking is free after 1730 overnight, and much more is absolutely free. I complained about the excessive cost, they don't care. If I could give a negative feedback score, I would give -50 .

Nice shopping centre - but disappointed by the toilets. I needed to take my 4 year old daughter to the loo. Unfortunately, the loos were difficult to find and when we eventually found them, we had to queue up to buy a ticket (for 50 cents) from the machine. I bought one, which I thought I could use in the baby changing room (since there was no other obvious place I could take a child), but there was no loo! ... So had to go back and buy another ticket to accompany my daughter in the adult loos... Only to find the ticket I had used for the baby changing room was no longer valid, so had to queue for a third time and another 50 cents! Eventually I worked it out by which point my daughter was bursting. Obviously, I had to take her into gents, but cubicles didn't seem very child friendly. Clearly this place has not been designed with children in mind.

Very interesting and upscale shops. Not outrageously priced. Parking is expensive if you don't get a discount card when you purchase something. Good food court.

Such a lovely centre with a wide range of stores and restaurants, shame there is an area on the top floor that is not used why not have small stalls in the space for Xmas goods

I am not into bullfighting so this is more of a review of the Arènes de Béziers from a historical and cultural point of view. For residents, August can be a boon or a bane as it the month of the feria when hordes of tourists descend on the city to watch bullfighting or simply take part in the merrymaking. True, the feria brings in revenue to businesses but for those who live near the arena, the noise level can be bothersome. There are several nice restaurants directly facing the arena, a protected heritage site completed in 1901 by architects Carlier, father and son. They mixed bricks, cut stone and reinforced cement. The arena hosts not only (bullfighting activities, introduced in the south of France in the 19th century) but also concerts.

Good open air venue for music, shows and food/beverage festivals (NB bullfights are a rarity now, never seen one). You need tickets for most gigs. Seats near the front are quite close together, but you get the best views. Usually hosts a free orchestra event with fireworks during the Béziers feria.

It's a beautiful arena. However, bull fighting was not for us.

It's a good stadium, just very difficult to enter and exit. Took around 25-30 minutes to get into.

Where to begin! Without doubt one of the best dining experiences we have had. The service from the start to the end was exemplary. The atmosphere is tasteful and fun....and then there is the food. Each course wonderfully explained despite the language barrier. The care and commitment to turn amazing produce into fantastic dining is quite brilliant. I felt like each dish particularly the entree, was literally summer described on a plate for me to taste. Thank you, it was a privilage to have experienced such a great restaurant and your staff are all so well trained, they are a credit to you.

A very enjoyable restaurant. Food is tasty, Mediterranean but with a lot of energy. Great cocktails (gin with rosemary, mojito), nice selection of local wines. And very and good and amicable service. Also the place has a nice atmosphere and a nice smell. I will definitely come back.

“A beautiful fiasco” After a lukewarm welcome it felt like you had to leave in 10 minutes. Since it was our anniversary we wanted to start with a nice glass of champagne which before it arrived was already the drink for the amuse which was almost on the table before we sat down. And before we had the chance to finish our amuse the entree was being served. No mention of a wine list or anything else to drink with our actual menu. After asking we received the wine list and since it’s not really a list made the choice somewhat difficult. We asked our nice waiter if he had a suggestion, which he had. He kindly served a glass to taste but apparently it was just a glass instead of the bottle we ordered. After some back and forth they were able to find the bottle with our two glasses missing from it instead of the new bottle they wanted to open on top of the two glasses. Then the main dish arrived, again too fast after asking if they could please slow down a tiny bit, a filet of dorade certainly not royal. Cooked sous vide and barely finished on a half hot plate among 20 other filets all gently waiting to be served. When asked if we liked it, we didn’t have a poker face, which apparently came across as an attack on a personal level and not on the quality of the fish. Plates removed without hesitation with the notice we would get the same. We asked how it was prepared we got the answer “pan”. I don’t say this lightly but I’ve never seen a restaurant without any pans until today. No pans, no smell of butter and two “chefs” in the kitchen heating up dishes. I guess there’s a fine line between catering and a restaurant but sadly I would not call this a restaurant or a very good catering business. Still we try to be nice customers in general, so we tried to pay (multiple times) for the produce we had until that point. We were told we should not worry about the money and we could leave immediately. So if you’re looking for an experience close to sitting in your high school Mensa or canteen this is the place for you. If not maybe, don’t go. I hope they just had a bad week. The season was long which we understand. But in the end it’s called hospitality. 1 Star.

Very nice and creative food. Nice seasoning, copious amount of food and a really reasonable pricing for the quality and quantity of the good. A very good selection of wine too. The atmosphere is nice but with so many tables, it feels a bit like a chain because so many people need to eat at the same time. Beware of the time you need to eat though, we arrived at 12:00, took the biggest menu and we were out at 15:30 after a coffee. It can get quite hot on the terrace but it's fresher if you eat indoors. They ask about food allergies and preferences before hand so you're likely to have alternative options if there's some stuff you don't eat.

First of all: the food was delicious, the portion sizes were generous and the prizes were reasonable. However we ordered 5min after the restaurant opened and still waited two full hours for our food to arrive. They called us soon after we had ordered to announce that we’d have to wait an hour / 1.25h. After calling twice and waiting another hour the food finally arrived lukewarm. Granted, it was New Years Eve, but we were disappointed in the delivery service and starving by the time it arrived. Would not recommend ordering, but eating in could be nice.

A very nice curry restaurant. Chicken Korma and a chicken dansak. Pilau rice nice. Naan's are good but the cheese and peshwari ones could have more cheese and for the other more coconut. Staff are pleasant. Will come back :)

This is classic Indian food in the centre of Béziers. Very good quality with top service. You need ask for it to be spiced otherwise you get French levels of Indian spice...plus poppadoms would be great with mango chutney.

We had been looking for a good Indian restaurant in Hérault for ages and finally found this little gem. Excellent food!!! Highly recommended! Large selection of starters. The Korma is simply magnificent and the Taj Mahal special was equally excellent with a very generous amount of meat. Peshwari Nan and Lassi simply adorable! We are already looking forward to our next visit!

Worst subway i have experienced. Fries and nuggets were not crispy at all. Bread was turned black at 1/4th. Tables were not clean at all and very sticky. Was really hot inside.

Highly recommend.

Unfortunately, we were seated inside on both occasions, but this was entirely our own fault - this is a popular restaurant and we were not organised enough to make reservation, even though this seems a very straightforward process on the website. However, the interior of the restaurant, with its exposed stone walls, is also very pleasant. On our lunchtime visit, we chose the set menu. We had a delicious poached egg with a mushroom sauce, veal skirt and a wonderful rice pudding with caramel. A drink is also included, making this menu excellent value. On our evening visit, I chose the meagre fish, which was served with polenta and a hint of fish soup, while my mother had the cod, which was served with beans and a garlic emulsion. Both dishes were exquisitely presented with very interesting flavours and textures. For dessert, which both had the chocolate finger, which was also wonderful, and we both felt that the description in the menu did not do justice to the perfect combination of a chocolate mouse, sitting on top of a delicious biscuit containing candied orange.
