Suzdal in 3 days

If you only have 3 days to spend in Suzdal, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Suzdal is one of Russia’s best-preserved historic towns, known for its skyline of onion-domed churches, wooden houses, and tranquil riverside setting. As part of the Golden Ring, it offers numerous UNESCO-listed monuments, including ancient monasteries and the Suzdal Kremlin. Visitors can explore open-air museums of wooden architecture, sample traditional Russian cuisine, and experience a slower, small-town pace that contrasts sharply with Moscow’s bustle.
With favorites like Centre for Culture and Leisure, Tserkov' Borisa I Gleba Na Borisovskoy Storone, and Дом, где снимался фильм «Женитьба Бальзаминова», we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Russian Compound and Gostinyy Dvor so you can get the best taste of Suzdal while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

The Suzdal Kremlin is a historic site dating back to the 10th century, featuring a 13th-century cathedral with distinctive blue domes. This UNESCO World Heritage Site consists of the fortified town enclosed by a single wall, housing notable structures such as the Bishops Court, Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, bell tower, and Church of St. Nicholas from Glotovo village.
It's a beautiful countryside. Its the must see places of Suzdal. Take a walk to Kremlin we walked on a frozen lake on our way. We took 60 roubles ticket to roam around the area and took pictures.

Well preserved heritage site. Walking through the bridge on iced river was an experience. The meeting hall inside was an experience in itself. Was thrilled to see India in a old map kept there. This place should be even more beautiful in summer. The guide was very helpful and describing everything patiently.
Rajesh K — Google review
As a bonus when we were there we saw a bridal party taking pictures ! We loved sitting outside in the chairs that are in the grassy area and just enjoying. If you climb the small berm, you will see the wooden bridge and be rewarded with a special view of Suzdal.

Nice place with beautiful views and landscapes! Here are some museums and places for rest. It's possible to take sunshowers, free chaise-longues available. Take half an hour just for walk or about two hours in case of visiting museums for this Kremlin.
Al P — Google review
Museum inside Kremlin is worth visiting and also the church so i suggest buying ticket also to the buildings inside the Kremlin. You can also buy ticket just to the Kremlin area if youbare not interested in museums.

A picturesque monastery by the side of a small river. The architecture is beautiful and the whole place is well maintained. Well worth a visit if you're in the area.

Outside Moscow if you would like to have a real Russian experience this city is highly recommended. Traffic is heavy on weekends it took almost 5 hours to get there from Moscow centre on Saturday morning. Lots of areas for walks and green space for children to play.

Suzdal must visit. We did it in one day trip from Moscow. It is enough. We took fast train 7:15 morning and back 20:15 to/from Vladimir. From Vladimir taking local bus 159 from Autostation to Suzdal. Every 30 min. This is most picturized Russian town not destroyed by Soviet architecture and old industry. Like Russia 200 or 800 years ago. A lot of history and a lot to see.

The Wax Museum in Russia showcases a collection of wax figures representing statesmen and celebrities from both Russia and around the world. The museum is housed in the Church of the Transfiguration, an 18th-century wooden architectural monument that was relocated to Suzdal from a small village called Kozlyatevo.

The Museum of Wooden Architecture and Peasant Life, known as Muzey Derevyannogo Zodchestva I Krest'yanskogo Byta in Suzdal, Russia, provides an immersive experience into the traditional lives of Russian peasants. The open-air museum features well-preserved wooden structures such as log houses, windmills, and churches dating back to the 18th century.
On our one day tour of what is termed the Golden Ring out of Moscow which offers three villages each of historical interest. This on in Suzsal is the Museum of Wooden Architecture and Peasant Life which is an open-air museum that offers a fascinating glimpse into traditional Russian village life. It has about 20 Historical Buildings which are very well preserved from the 18th and 19th centuries, including houses, churches, windmills, and barns. These structures were relocated from various villages in the Vladimir Oblast to preserve their historical and cultural significance. The Peasant Life Exhibits showcases the daily life of Russian peasants, with exhibits featuring rustic clothing, dishware, furniture, and tools. We got a good idea of how families lived, worked, and worshipped in the past.

interesting museum. You can see the way of life of the kings. The truth I will not say that I have not seen this before. In the village of my grandfather, everything was exactly like that. But many entertainments, performances of remarkable musical collectives, a fashion show of quilted Suzdal sewing, master classes on matryoshka painting, embroidery of napkins, pottery. Sale of handicrafts: gzhel, products from birch bark, quilts, clothing from flax and much more. On this day the film was filmed. Participated in one of the scenes. The weather was good, on the street 28-30 degrees. I recommend to stop here

Svyato-Vasil'yevskiy Muzhskoy Monastyr' is a captivating historical site that beautifully encapsulates the essence of ancient architecture and spirituality. Nestled in the city of Yuriev Polsky, which boasts a history just slightly younger than Moscow itself, this active monastery presents an intriguing blend of well-preserved structures alongside those in dire need of restoration. Visitors can admire its unique architectural features, including a charming old fence that adds to its character.
A more recent monastery from 1923, among the other monasteries in Suzdal this is probably the smaller.

(Translated by Google) A small active monastery. It looks very nice from the outside. It's 50/50 inside. Some of the buildings are in good condition, while others are in urgent need of restoration. But the architecture itself is very interesting: if you put it in order, you won’t be able to take your eyes off it. I was struck by a real fence, the kind that was installed in the old days and the kind that you can’t see anywhere now. A neat vegetable garden, apparently as part of the monastery’s self-sufficiency. The masonry of the wall is the same age as the monastery - the 18th century.

(Translated by Google) An ancient religious and ritual complex of buildings. An echo of the USSR - on the territory of the monastery (in the former fraternal building and bishop's house) there are apartment buildings, townspeople live (the game, of course, is long overdue for resettlement, one wristwatch (instead of Photoshop) can be sold and people can be moved into penthouses!), there is a children's playroom site - well, such normal Soviet urban schizophrenia). The godly lady from the church shop opened the temple for us, allowed us to look at everything from the inside (she didn’t allow us to take photographs, that’s why in words: modestly, without pathos, the frescoes have not been preserved), told us what she knew. The view of the river and the other bank is excellent; you can see an unrealistically beautiful church with a bell tower there.

Fair quality food for reasonable prices: bean soup and solyanka were quite thick and tasteful, although pelmeni did not live up to the expectations. If your health permits, do not miss local salo (pig’s fat), a Ukrainian tapas-like dish

The Venerable Bell Tower, also known as the Nativity Cathedral, has a rich history dating back to the late 17th century. It underwent reconstruction after being struck by lightning in 1795 and was later rebuilt with white stones during Emperor Nicholas's reign in the mid-19th century. Despite being repurposed during various periods, it remains a popular attraction offering stunning panoramic views of Suzdal.
Best elevated view of lovely Suzdal. It's a lot of steps to the top, and the stairs and building are in need of repair (ongoing), so watch your footing. The open top is quite windy on a winter day.

Restaurant
The Russian Compound is a highly comfortable establishment offering delectable cuisine. They boast an extensive menu, featuring traditional Russian dishes that surpass the offerings of other local restaurants. Despite being regarded slightly less favorably by patrons compared to city center eateries at the time this review was written, it is still held in high regard. The restaurant's ambiance is warm and inviting, creating a cozy and relaxing environment for guests to enjoy their meals.
An extremely cozy place with good food. The menu is definitely Russian but a bit more extensive than most restaurants in town – they run the grill even in the off-season. The quality of the food was excellent. At the time of this review, the city center restaurants had better ratings, but we liked this one a lot better.

(Translated by Google) Russian farmstead in Suzdal. Everything seems to be fine, but questions remain. On the way from Nizhny Novgorod to Moscow, we wanted to stop in Suzdal, enjoy the surroundings and have a tasty snack. We chose the top places, regardless of the price, and the choice fell on Russian farmstead. The establishment is located in a corner of the private sector, in a fairly quiet and cozy place, with its own parking lot, outdoor gazebos and halls in the main building. The style is cool: everything is decorated in the old Russian style, an accordionist plays. In general, this is a themed Russian restaurant. We decided to sit inside, as it was a little chilly. The service was excellent at first, no questions: they quickly came up, quickly took the order, and also quickly began to bring everything - we did not have time to get bored. The prices are normal for a tourist establishment in a tourist location, maybe a little above average. The menu is medium-sized, naturally, with an emphasis on Russian dishes: they bake their own bread, make their own desserts, cook everything themselves - for this, I definitely respect. There are no questions about the presentation: everything looks beautiful, just like in the pictures. The portion sizes are normal - small, but not tiny. We ordered a lot of different things: appetizers, salads, desserts, hot dishes and meat - in general, a full range to enjoy delicious dishes. But not everything is so smooth. Let's move on to the minuses. Part of the evening was devoted to a dialogue with the waiters and staff about ginger tea, which was only called ginger. In fact, there may have been ginger there, but it did not give any flavor. No matter how hard they tried to add ginger, nothing worked - the tea was a complete failure. And understand: it's not that I'm picky. The tea cost 400 rubles for a teapot, but when a guest has already expressed dissatisfaction with the tea several times and ordered 10 dishes, it would be correct for the establishment to simply replace the tea with any other they liked or remove it altogether. But no - we all debated, discussed, tried to add ginger. In general, it seemed to me that it was not nice for the establishment to behave like that. And, of course, my restaurant critic immediately got involved. I began to meticulously examine the dishes and ask the guys from our company what they thought. So: the salad was a little wilted, and the potato pancake seemed strange and greasy - here, it is probably more a matter of taste. In general, I can say that the positive atmosphere and the majority of quite tasty dishes with beautiful presentation made me very happy. But it was spoiled by such seemingly minor issues. And I want to say right away: if somewhere in Moscow or in some other big tourist city I comment on some dishes for so long, then I don’t even have time to suggest something about solving the problem - the establishment immediately reacts to the advance: removes from the bill, gives a dessert or simply exchanges for any other drink. But here the guys were very stubborn, which is what I’m trying to convey to you here. If it weren’t for these small nuances, I would have given a solid five. And so - four. The guys have something to work on; I think they will do it. Or, as always, they will fall into the category of a super-passable location - you can forget about quality.

The dishes are very tasty, the portions are large (having had an unpleasant experience in the past, we ordered several dishes, they turned out to be huge)! The prices are very reasonable! They cook quickly, which is also important! Plus there is free parking nearby) Special thanks to the waiter Dmitry - a very polite young man, knows the menu well, helped with the choice of dishes) (Original) Прекрасный ресторан! The menu is huge, based on old recipes. The names alone are worth something - skoblyanka, tsar dranik with pike caviar, buns with malts, etc. Thank you for being so delicious here and for many years! FAKE RATING. I don't recommend it. Especially if you are a foreigner, I definitely don't recommend it. Don't be fooled by the stylish design of the restaurant. Grumpy waiters, cold and terrible soups, badly cooked meat dishes, stale bread taken out of the freezer. We knew the prices were expensive. I wish we could have gotten something in return. I don't think the score on Google Maps is real. They probably asked their friends to give them 5 stars.

We went here because from outsid it looked quite charming and we don't regret going in. Be careful to don't miss it. Prices were correct and dishess were variated and very tastefull, a really good job of the chef (Nikita). They have the menu in russian (of course) and in english which was something that we appreciated. Staff were very polite and attentive. We had the luck of meeting the owners of the restaurant, and they showed a face of russian people that we didn't see before. We had a quite long talk with Vadim (hope I spelled it correctly) who explained us some background of Suzdal and it's history, it was like receiving a lesson while eating. Next time wo go on holidays to suzdal again, we surely will go back here. We wish the best for them and we are looking forward to go back there again.

One of the best places to eat in the center. The vivid and elaborate design with some authentic paintings, vintage furniture. There are a spacious hall and very nice outdoor tables with a good view on the Main Street - Kremlevskaya, leading to the Kremlin. Traditional Russian cuisine with some original touch. No doubt the place is worth visiting. Don’t forget to visit nearby shop - Dimov ceramics - to buy original souvenirs (not fake things there).

The location of the hotel is great, it’s in the heart of Suzdal! However, the lobby needs an expansion & renovation. It’s great that there is free parking right behind the hotel, it’s very easy to come by car. Room is quite spacious, in my opinion, i felt the bed wasn’t comfortable. Bathroom is clean… although it requires changing shower gel & shampoo to better quality ones. there’s an old wooden scent to the room, some might like it some might not, depends on your perspective. I give it a solid 7.65/10

Incredible pleasant visit. If you've only time for one thing in Suzdal, this is the place. Pleasant grounds, amazing exhibits, although almost no explanations are in English. However, with even rudimentary understanding of Cyrillic, the non-Russian speakers can get the gist by visuals and reading dates. We visited on a late winter day with lovely snow and darkness. Exhibit rooms are very warm. We spent a perhaps two hours. Grounds are peaceful.

This monastery in the city of Suzdal is a gem of Russian history and culture. Every hour they have a bell ringing. And it's not just a few bells, it's a whole ensemble. You can also walk up the walls. A certain part is open for tourists. Inside they have an authentic monastery herb garden. And in the cafe near the entrance they'll offer you an herb tea from these same herbs.

(Translated by Google) Spaso-Preobrazhensky Cathedral is the main temple of the Spaso-Evfimiev Monastery.  Built in the 16th century in the traditions of the ancient white stone architecture of Suzdal, it is monumental and austere. The five powerful chapters of the cathedral are complemented by two more on the side chapels in honor of St. Euthymius - on the south side and St. Sergius of Radonezh - on the north side. An arcature-columnar belt decorates the walls outside. The keel-shaped zakomars crowning the walls of the cathedral give its architecture a special harmony and expressiveness. Pokrovsky Monastery

Shrine
Monastery
The Pokrovsky Monastery, a stunning example of classic Russian architecture, dates back to the 16th century and features gilded domes, a charming garden, and is situated near a picturesque river. Renovated in the 19th century, this historic site is home to the renowned tomb of Matryona, a local saint known for her prophetic abilities and healing powers despite being born blind.
The Intercession (Pokrovsky) Monastery was founded in 1364, but from this initial period, practically nothing was preserved. All that has come down to our days, mainly refers to the first half of the 16th century and a later period, and is associated with dramatic events in the life of the Grand Duke's family – the Moscow prince Basil III. He decided on an unheard violation of church rules – a divorce with his first wife Solomoniya Saburova, who after twenty years of marriage never gave birth to children. She came from an old boyar family of Moscow. During the 1508-1518 Basil III richly equiped the Suzdal Intercession monastery, while seeking a divorce from the church and looking for a future new wife – Pole Elena Glinskaya. In 1625 Solomoniya Saburova was forcibly tonsured into a nun (under the name of Sofia) and exiled to the Intercession Monastery. Since then, the Intercession Monastery has become a place of exile for the disgraced tsarinas and women of noble boyar families. Among its nuns and elders – the daughter and niece of Ivan III, the wife of Prince Vladimir Staritsky – Eupraxia, the wife of Tsarevich Ivan – Evdokia, one of the wives of Ivan the Terrible – Anna Vasilchikova. The last crown princess of the monastery was Evdokia Lopukhina, the wife of Peter I, accused of plotting against the tsar. Here, many aristocratic spiritual prisoners ended their lives. In the monastery were found the burials of representatives of families of Nagies, Gorbaties, Shuiskies and others (more than 20 eminent nuns). In 1934, in the tomb of the Intercession Cathedral, under a small white stone slab (without an inscription), the director of the Suzdal Museum A.D. Varganov had uncovered a children's burial. In the wooden deck, "remnants of semi-decayed silk fabric without bone remains" were found. This burial began to be connected with the rumors that were going on in the 16th century, about the birth at the monastery, allegedly, of Solomoniya's son George, whom she gave to the upbringing to faithful people, having arranged a fictitious burial. In 1650 Solomoniya Saburova was recognized as a saint (Sofia of Suzdal), her tomb, "exuding miracles", attracted pilgrims and enriched the monastery treasury. The monastery received the richest deposits and new landed estates with thousands of serfs. It was visited repeatedly by royalty. The main temple of the monastery and at the same time a tomb for noble nuns was the Intercession (Pokrovsky) Cathedral. It is a majestic three-domed temple in the design of which the decorations of the white-stone Nativity Cathedral of the Suzdal Kremlin were used (arched-columnar belt, lush portals that are clearly visible through the open arcade of the gallery). The interior decoration of the temple was very ascetic: the floor was paved with black ceramic tiles, the walls were not painted. But the magnificent icons and artistic sewing made the interior exquisite. The tented bell tower is connected to the cathedral with the gallery. It is a rare monument of the ancient Russian architecture: its lower two-tiered part, dating back to 1515, was an octagonal pillar-shaped church "under the bells" (i.e. completed with a tier of belfry). The tent of the modern bell tower appeared at the end of the 17th century. The original architecture of the cathedral is repeated in the Holy Gates, built, like other buildings of the monastery, commissioned by Basil III around 1518. It is a four-sided tower with two asymmetrical arched spans over which the gallery and the elegant three-headed gate-church of Annunciation rise. The decorations of the facades of the building resemble carving on wood, giving to its appearance a sincere simplicity and elegance.

Restaurant
The restaurant Ogurets offers a pleasant ambiance and impressive food presentation. While the salo may deviate from traditional expectations with its stronger smoked flavor, it is still enjoyable. The salad, borscht with duck, pork ribs, and perch all deliver delicious flavors. The sour cream cake is a delightful treat. However, it should be noted that the prices are on the higher side.
Interior 5++ Atmospheric, beautiful place, cozy. But overall the food was disappointing. The company consisted of 6 people and everyone ordered their preferences, of course, but they also wanted new gastronomic experiences. As a result: 1 "skoblyanka" (a kind of fried potato, mushrooms and meat in a frying pan) - fatty overcooked potatoes and meat, disappointing.. 2. “Barley porridge with Parmesan and duck hearts” - the portion is small, the pot is slightly larger than a coffee cup, the presence of beet juice (and, accordingly, color and additional taste) in the pearl barley completely overwhelmed the idea of what the authors wanted to cook. There was no Parmesan at all... In general, it turned out to be an awkward dish. 3. “Dumplings with chicken” - we definitely didn’t expect a catch, it seemed like the most neutral dish - the dough was bitter and there was a feeling that they were far from fresh. 4. “Herring under a fur coat” - an original presentation, but the herring was not found🧐... I was lucky only with cutlets, sea buckthorn tea (I really liked it), the slightly alcoholic cucumber drinks and ice cream alleviated the disappointments. Unfortunately, the restaurant's signature cuisine was disappointing; ............................🙂

Very nice decor and great food presentation! The salo is not what we expected as it has a stronger smoked element than the traditional. Still, good eat! The salad was great, borscht with duck was fine too. The pork ribs and the perch were tasty. We love the sour cream cake! The price is on the high side. None the less, good dining experience and we enjoyed it!

Edible, but no more. Everything was bland, under-salted, and they forgot to include potatoes in one of the dishes. Interesting interior design, very comfortable chairs, they, like the panoramic windows and the view from the window, create a cozy atmosphere. Service: 5* It seemed like we were being watched 😉 and new dishes were brought immediately after the previous ones were eaten. Food: 1. Salted milk mushrooms - excellent 2. Olivier salad from the children's menu with chicken - excellent 3. Jellied meat with 2 types of meat and mustard - delicious, but the presence of gelatin is felt 4. Julienne with wild mushrooms - delicious, but there are almost no mushrooms 5. Fish soup with smoked millet - excellent, lots of fish, served with croutons with green butter 6. Pike cutlets with cauliflower - excellent, my husband really liked the cabbage of two textures Drinks: Kvass - moderately sweet, highly carbonated, will quench your thirst perfectly in hot weather. Mors is also moderately sweet and quite rich. Liqueurs (currant and cranberry and black currant) - strong and aromatic 😉 As a compliment from the establishment for my birthday, I was offered to choose a dessert from the menu. I chose sorbet. Served with a candle and congratulations 😊 Was a wonderful end to a hearty lunch. Overall impression: very tasty Russian food "like grandma's" with beautiful presentation and good service. Prices: not cheap. But this is an individual matter. Portions: average. Overall impression: next time we will come to this place to try the original Russian Caesar salad 😅 Yes, about the reservation. The restaurant is located in a large, hangar-like space with lots of tables, so I think you can show up even without a reservation and they'll find you a table. It was quite noisy on a Saturday, and the tables were very close together, making it uncomfortable. But the most disappointing thing was the food. A grilled chicken Caesar salad for 750 rubles was just lettuce leaves in sauce, three thin slices of chicken, and dry croutons. That's all, nothing more. No egg, no tomatoes. We also had braised beef cheek with green buckwheat. The cheek was delicious, but we found a very strange object in the buckwheat—a piece of clear plastic (???) The dish wasn't included in the bill and we were also offered dessert as a compliment, but it's still very, very unpleasant to find something you don't know on your plate. At the checkout they began to count them for me at the cost of the standard product. to my objection, they told me that it was unknown where I got them from and that the markdown only applied to full-size sheets (although the seller who was nearby told me the opposite). the manager was called. a boorish type reeking of fumes, who had been waiting at the checkout for almost 20 minutes, began to show me that I should look more closely at the price tags (which hang almost all over the department, it is not clear what product they refer to). The Church of the Holy Princes Boris and Gleb, dating back to 1749, stands as a stunning example of historical architecture in Suzdal. Its vibrant red exterior has recently undergone restoration, giving it a fresh yet authentic appearance that captivates visitors from afar. While the interior remains closed for restoration work, the church's impressive scale and rich history make it worth a brief stop.

The Log-Jerusalem Church, nestled in the heart of Suzdal, is a charming historical site that showcases the city's rich architectural heritage. While its exterior captivates with beauty, the interior is currently undergoing restoration, with services already being held inside. This quaint church complex features both summer and winter churches situated along the riverbank, just behind the Trading Rows and near defensive fortifications. Nestled in the charming town of Suzdal, the Antipievskaya Tserkov' is a stunning winter church that dates back to 1745. This architectural gem stands alongside its summer counterpart, the Church of Lazarus, which was built in 1667. The highlight of this small temple complex is undoubtedly its bell tower—considered one of the most exquisite in Suzdal.

(Translated by Google) The most elegant bell tower in Suzdal The Lazarevskaya Church was mentioned in chronicles at the end of the 15th century. In its current form it was built as a cold church in 1617. Later, in 1745, a warm church dedicated to Saint Antipas with a bell tower was built next to it. The bright and unusual coloring of the bell tower of the Antipievskaya Church is surprising, but it was specifically specified by the customer during construction, so it looks exactly as it was intended. There is a rather strange sign associated with this church. It is believed that if you have a toothache, you need to walk around the outside of the church three times, biting each corner. This tradition in past times caused significant damage to the condition of the building. But now, outwardly, the church doesn’t seem to have been bitten;) Take care of history - treat your teeth in a timely manner!

It is an octagon with a concave tent in which auditory holes are made. The entire bell tower is richly decorated and elegantly painted. The first time I saw it, I thought that the restorers had probably decorated it this way to please tourists. It's very pretentious. But looking at old photographs I saw that it was so. Perhaps the team of builders who plastered it in God knows what year went a little overboard when trying Suzdal mead.)) The house where the film "Balzaminov's Marriage" was shot is an old wooden building with a rich history, although it is currently in a state of disrepair. Visitors can see stills from the film displayed in the wooden yard, but entry into the house itself is prohibited. Despite its condition, fans have left a thank-you sign on the property. Souvenirs in the shop next to your house are cheaper than in shopping arcades and shops near the Kremlin. In general, Suzdal has not been touched by the stamp of modernity; cozy ancient architecture is everywhere, beautiful and clean. It’s gratifying that this house has been preserved, that for a reasonable fee (50 rubles) you can get into the courtyard and take a photo with a full-length portrait of Georgy Vitsin against the backdrop of a fairy-tale church. In the courtyard there is an exhibition of photographs with stills from the film and from the moments of filming. The grounds and house are well maintained. There is a bench in the yard where you can sit in the shade of the trees, think leisurely, breathe in the spirit of Russian cinema, and fantasize like Mishenka Balzaminov. Next to the house there is a shop with souvenirs with characters from the film (from calendars to designer dolls of the main characters). Several churches can be seen in a row on the street. A stone's throw away are shopping arcades and the central square, a walk through which complements the impression of being immersed in the atmosphere of the film. The Archiereus Chambers, constructed towards the end of the 15th century as the abode for the local Metropolitan, stands on the left side. Situated on the right is the Church of Holy Nativity of Virgin Mary, built during 1222-1225. This revered church endured through difficult times such as Mongolian invasion and subsequent looting when Suzdal was captured by Mongols in February 1238. Within this historic church lies a treasure: golden gates.
In English, it is called the Cathedral of the Nativity. This is a historic building that was originally used as a cathedral of Orthodox Catholics. This building is located within the church building complex and other buildings. Located in the city of Suzdal, which can be reached via the city of Vladimir by the city bus for 45 minutes. The rest in the city you can visit this place on foot or use the Yandex online taxi service. Note: To be able to order a taxi online Yandex you can download the application on your cell phone. This place is now a beautiful museum with high art paintings on the walls and ceiling. At a glance from the front of this building looks like an ordinary old building with white paint that sometimes looks dull but beauty lies behind the dull wall. To get inside you have 2 ticket options, just walk around the complex and see the building from the outside yard, including the wooden museum. Or you want to buy an all-access ticket to enter the building. There is also a clean toilet inside the complex but you have to pay to enter and there is also a souvenir shop.

The history of the cathedral began in the 12th century, the current building was built in 1222-1225. (in 1225 the temple was consecrated in the name of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary), rebuilt in 1528-1530. Externally, the cathedral looks quite decent, but the main splendor is in its interior decoration.

If you find yourself wandering the charming streets of Suzdal, make sure to stop by Dzhasper I Peschanik Kraft Gril' Bar. This cozy pub is a beloved spot for both locals and visitors alike, known for its warm hospitality and delicious offerings. With a diverse menu featuring fresh ingredients, their burgers are particularly noteworthy.
Great place with tasty beer choice & good burgers. Recommend it 👍🏻❤️

Very nice looking, but not tasty. French fries, beer, burger, fish and chips, sbiten ~1,5k rubl. Fish was raw, burger too. For burger meat it could be fine (but your have to ask guest before keep it raw), raw fish in fish and chips is totally unexpected...

Do NOT go there ! Well, except if you want to experience the worst table service in town. We waited for the waiter (brown-haired with a ridiculous little beard) to ask for our order. He never came, even after he finally dropped his phone ans looked at us. Several eye contacts and signs that we did with our arms later, we finally left the pub.

(Translated by Google) We have long loved to go to #Suzdal for a couple of days whenever possible. Been here many times. We love this town very much. We love to wander its streets and walk along the shopping arcades. There are enough cafes and restaurants in Suzdal where you can sit in the evening. But, unfortunately, almost all of them work until 23:00. What to do if the weather is good and you don’t want to sleep? And if we also add that we love very craft beer, and until recently there was a problem with good beer and places where you can drink it in Suzdal. But on our last visit to Suzdal for the May holidays, we discovered an excellent new establishment in the Trade Rows, bar @jasperpub “Jasper and Sandstone”!!! Our joy knew no bounds; finally a decent bar with normal craft beer appeared in Suzdal. The bar is small, loft style, two rooms, but quite cozy and homely. The bar opened in autumn 2018. There are 9 types of draft beer on tap + a small selection of bottled craft beer. The menu includes burgers, pizza, beer snacks. We liked everything, although if compared to Moscow craft beer bars, here, of course, everything is much simpler. There is room to move and grow, both in the range and quality of beer and in food. But I’ll say it again, we really liked everything, the bar is cozy and homely, excellent friendly bartender Daniil. In the evening we met the owners of the bar, they are from Moscow, husband and wife, and a companion from Suzdal. We had a great time sitting and talking in the evening. Lena, Ivan, hello! We dispersed only around two o'clock in the morning, people were still left. Where else in Suzdal can you sit and communicate so well until such a time?! That's right, so everyone's at Jasper and the Sandstone!!! Soon we will go to Suzdal again and of course we will go to our favorite “Jasper and Sandstone”!!! See you again!

(Translated by Google) Probably a good place to have a beer, but we were unlucky - we came in for dinner. Very nice young guys work there, but they are completely confused. They themselves do not know what products are left in the kitchen - their absence is discovered after the order. The cook forgets half the ordered items on the go, and this is in a completely empty place. The meat in the burgers is very dry, in general, the food is closer to the level of fast food. Tasty inexpensive beer of their own production, the price tag for the rest of the items is Moscow, and not everything is in stock. It seems to be a nice place in terms of atmosphere, jazz is playing, but there is a discrepancy between the prices and the level of cuisine/service.

Nestled in the heart of Suzdal, Gnezdo Pekarya is a charming family-run café that offers a delightful escape for travelers. This cozy spot not only serves up an array of healthy dishes made from fresh ingredients but also features an intriguing selection of honey beer crafted by Andre Tikhanov. Guests can indulge in unique flavors like mint and pepper, sampling various brews served in small cups—each one more delicious than the last.
Nice cute fresh bakery to stop and relax while sightseeing. Great central location with awesome baked goods and drinks.

Food was less than average, but prices were as expensive as they get for a decent place in Moscow. Really lame to be honest. The pickles were good, everything else I can live without. Service was okay, they struggled a bit, forgot some things but the place is small so it’s easy to remind them.

A rather cozy place in the very center with a good view on two churches. Don’t expect good coffee, but tea is tasty, as well as bread with butter and honey.

Beer from honey was an exciting information for me. When I was invited by Andre Tikhanov I never expected that there would be honey beer and such an ingenious way of preparing a number of varieties of beer. There are beer with various tastes such as mint, pepper and any imaginable herb that could be prepared. You will be having in small cups and you can prob. I tasted ten varieties and I must admit that all of them were excellent. Gnexdo Pekarya provides in one or half litter bottles of honey beer and you can buy from them after the probe. These are reliable drinks since prepared in the best way. A great culture I encountered today.

The food was fantastic as well as the service. I really liked their decor as well. I was glad there was an English menu with pictures as well, good for tourists who have no idea what certain dishes are :)

Most likely best place to eat in Suzdal, there are 5 different flavors of traditional Russian food - dumplings! Fish dumplings are highly recommended to try, its unpredictable delicious taste that's what I really liked! Also root beer(kvas) is a good one thing to try. (Translated by Google) A strange place. The website says we work until the last customer, when we called they said the kitchen until 10 pm, the dining room until 10:30 pm. And when we came there at 9:20 pm, we were told that the kitchen closed at 9 pm. Only when we referred to the information we received over the phone were we seated at a table. The interior is boring. It is obvious that they tried to decorate it, but did not finish it. As for the food, the names and descriptions on the menu are beautiful. In fact, there was no explosion of taste. Pancakes with two types of caviar and salmon turned out to be nondescript pancakes with a small amount of filling that did not cause delight. The set of liqueurs and cranberry liqueur are good. In general, it's about 50/50. But the waitresses are great, they tell you everything, and the service is fast.

(Translated by Google) The restaurant is located very close to the Kremlin, but the view from the outside of the building and from the window onto the small park is quite modest. There is parking, if you are not afraid and drive along the path along the house past the plastic toilet to the cliff. Inside the premises are cozy, the service was excellent and very fast. The prices are slightly lower than, for example, in Gostiny Dvor, but the dishes are simpler, more traditional. The portions are large.

The prices are approximately Moscow, the portions are small, but the price/quality ratio, in my opinion, is excellent. We were in Suzdal twice, and both times we visited this establishment, although under different names. I don’t know how original the cuisine is, but almost all the dishes on the menu were unique for me. Even more or less ordinary dishes have an unusual twist, and everything looks simply delicious! A place for those who want to pamper themselves and surprise themselves with something, and are not afraid to try something new. (Translated by Google) As part of the festival, we had full meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner). Everything was delicious when we were fed in the restaurant itself. One evening our group was served in the conference hall. Just heaven and earth. It felt like dinner was being prepared by completely different people. Of the entire dinner, only the second was edible (pork chop with mashed potatoes), I don’t even want to comment on the rest, they even managed to ruin the coffee and tea. For this dinner I am deducting a point. But in the restaurant itself everything is cooked very tasty 👏👏👏.
