It's a beautiful countryside. Its the must see places of Suzdal. Take a walk to Kremlin we walked on a frozen lake on our way. We took 60 roubles ticket to roam around the area and took pictures.
Well preserved heritage site. Walking through the bridge on iced river was an experience. The meeting hall inside was an experience in itself. Was thrilled to see India in a old map kept there. This place should be even more beautiful in summer. The guide was very helpful and describing everything patiently.
As a bonus when we were there we saw a bridal party taking pictures ! We loved sitting outside in the chairs that are in the grassy area and just enjoying. If you climb the small berm, you will see the wooden bridge and be rewarded with a special view of Suzdal.
Nice place with beautiful views and landscapes! Here are some museums and places for rest. It's possible to take sunshowers, free chaise-longues available. Take half an hour just for walk or about two hours in case of visiting museums for this Kremlin.
Museum inside Kremlin is worth visiting and also the church so i suggest buying ticket also to the buildings inside the Kremlin. You can also buy ticket just to the Kremlin area if youbare not interested in museums.
A picturesque monastery by the side of a small river. The architecture is beautiful and the whole place is well maintained. Well worth a visit if you're in the area.
Outside Moscow if you would like to have a real Russian experience this city is highly recommended. Traffic is heavy on weekends it took almost 5 hours to get there from Moscow centre on Saturday morning. Lots of areas for walks and green space for children to play.
Suzdal must visit. We did it in one day trip from Moscow. It is enough. We took fast train 7:15 morning and back 20:15 to/from Vladimir. From Vladimir taking local bus 159 from Autostation to Suzdal. Every 30 min. This is most picturized Russian town not destroyed by Soviet architecture and old industry. Like Russia 200 or 800 years ago. A lot of history and a lot to see.

On our one day tour of what is termed the Golden Ring out of Moscow which offers three villages each of historical interest. This on in Suzsal is the Museum of Wooden Architecture and Peasant Life which is an open-air museum that offers a fascinating glimpse into traditional Russian village life. It has about 20 Historical Buildings which are very well preserved from the 18th and 19th centuries, including houses, churches, windmills, and barns. These structures were relocated from various villages in the Vladimir Oblast to preserve their historical and cultural significance. The Peasant Life Exhibits showcases the daily life of Russian peasants, with exhibits featuring rustic clothing, dishware, furniture, and tools. We got a good idea of how families lived, worked, and worshipped in the past.
The Museum of Wooden Architecture and Peasant Life, located in Suzdal, Russia, offers a fascinating glimpse into the country's rural history and architectural heritage. It showcases well-preserved wooden structures and artifacts, providing visitors with an immersive experience of traditional Russian village life. The museum's exhibits are informative and well-curated, making it a must-visit for those interested in Russian culture and history.
interesting museum. You can see the way of life of the kings. The truth I will not say that I have not seen this before. In the village of my grandfather, everything was exactly like that. But many entertainments, performances of remarkable musical collectives, a fashion show of quilted Suzdal sewing, master classes on matryoshka painting, embroidery of napkins, pottery. Sale of handicrafts: gzhel, products from birch bark, quilts, clothing from flax and much more. On this day the film was filmed. Participated in one of the scenes. The weather was good, on the street 28-30 degrees. I recommend to stop here
The place has a category of must to see. There are wonderful landscapes, different cultural monuments. It can helps you to dive in time ancient Russia.
Very nice place to visit. Interesting interiors and homemade things show the pre-revolutionary history of Russian peasants.
We had a wonderful insight of village life in Russia. Well preserved houses and Guides were very helpful.
Lonely open-air museum demonstrating regional wooden architecture of the 18th- and 19th centuries.
A must-go in Suzdal. I visited the museum in March 2017 and took many nice photos there.

A continuation of our tour of the Golden Rings outside Moscow and into the beautiful and historic Monastery. The Monastery of St. Euthymius is also known as the Saviour Monastery of St. Euthymius. It was founded in 1352 by the monk Yevfimi from Nizhny Novgorod and it served as a fortress to protect the town from attackers. It actually is a complex that includes several notable buildings including the Cathedral of the Transfiguration of the Saviour, a bell tower from the 16th-17th centuries and an Annunciation Church Over-the-gate. it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site being part part of the White Monuments of Vladimir and Suzdal.
Incredible pleasant visit. If you've only time for one thing in Suzdal, this is the place. Pleasant grounds, amazing exhibits, although almost no explanations are in English. However, with even rudimentary understanding of Cyrillic, the non-Russian speakers can get the gist by visuals and reading dates. We visited on a late winter day with lovely snow and darkness. Exhibit rooms are very warm. We spent a perhaps two hours. Grounds are peaceful.
This village is like a heaven on earth. Authentic church and a orthodox style of life !!!
Great place to visit
The most beautiful and relaxing places I've been to in Russia.
Outstanding monastery with reach history and monumental structures.
Great place and a definitely " must visit" in Suzdal.
This monastery in the city of Suzdal is a gem of Russian history and culture. Every hour they have a bell ringing. And it's not just a few bells, it's a whole ensemble. You can also walk up the walls. A certain part is open for tourists. Inside they have an authentic monastery herb garden. And in the cafe near the entrance they'll offer you an herb tea from these same herbs.

The Intercession (Pokrovsky) Monastery was founded in 1364, but from this initial period, practically nothing was preserved. All that has come down to our days, mainly refers to the first half of the 16th century and a later period, and is associated with dramatic events in the life of the Grand Duke's family – the Moscow prince Basil III. He decided on an unheard violation of church rules – a divorce with his first wife Solomoniya Saburova, who after twenty years of marriage never gave birth to children. She came from an old boyar family of Moscow. During the 1508-1518 Basil III richly equiped the Suzdal Intercession monastery, while seeking a divorce from the church and looking for a future new wife – Pole Elena Glinskaya. In 1625 Solomoniya Saburova was forcibly tonsured into a nun (under the name of Sofia) and exiled to the Intercession Monastery. Since then, the Intercession Monastery has become a place of exile for the disgraced tsarinas and women of noble boyar families. Among its nuns and elders – the daughter and niece of Ivan III, the wife of Prince Vladimir Staritsky – Eupraxia, the wife of Tsarevich Ivan – Evdokia, one of the wives of Ivan the Terrible – Anna Vasilchikova. The last crown princess of the monastery was Evdokia Lopukhina, the wife of Peter I, accused of plotting against the tsar. Here, many aristocratic spiritual prisoners ended their lives. In the monastery were found the burials of representatives of families of Nagies, Gorbaties, Shuiskies and others (more than 20 eminent nuns). In 1934, in the tomb of the Intercession Cathedral, under a small white stone slab (without an inscription), the director of the Suzdal Museum A.D. Varganov had uncovered a children's burial. In the wooden deck, "remnants of semi-decayed silk fabric without bone remains" were found. This burial began to be connected with the rumors that were going on in the 16th century, about the birth at the monastery, allegedly, of Solomoniya's son George, whom she gave to the upbringing to faithful people, having arranged a fictitious burial. In 1650 Solomoniya Saburova was recognized as a saint (Sofia of Suzdal), her tomb, "exuding miracles", attracted pilgrims and enriched the monastery treasury. The monastery received the richest deposits and new landed estates with thousands of serfs. It was visited repeatedly by royalty. The main temple of the monastery and at the same time a tomb for noble nuns was the Intercession (Pokrovsky) Cathedral. It is a majestic three-domed temple in the design of which the decorations of the white-stone Nativity Cathedral of the Suzdal Kremlin were used (arched-columnar belt, lush portals that are clearly visible through the open arcade of the gallery). The interior decoration of the temple was very ascetic: the floor was paved with black ceramic tiles, the walls were not painted. But the magnificent icons and artistic sewing made the interior exquisite. The tented bell tower is connected to the cathedral with the gallery. It is a rare monument of the ancient Russian architecture: its lower two-tiered part, dating back to 1515, was an octagonal pillar-shaped church "under the bells" (i.e. completed with a tier of belfry). The tent of the modern bell tower appeared at the end of the 17th century. The original architecture of the cathedral is repeated in the Holy Gates, built, like other buildings of the monastery, commissioned by Basil III around 1518. It is a four-sided tower with two asymmetrical arched spans over which the gallery and the elegant three-headed gate-church of Annunciation rise. The decorations of the facades of the building resemble carving on wood, giving to its appearance a sincere simplicity and elegance.
Although it is indeed very beautiful, you can't really visit most of it, which is a shame.
Nice monastery but somehow we lacked the good feeling and spirit we found in other monasteries and holy places in Russia. It has a rather cold atmosphere, also the nuns are not very friendly, we found nicer women monasteries than this one.
Beautiful woman's monastery, half of the territory inside the monastery is closed to visitors because still is an active monastery, nevertheless the place is in outstanding conditions and the views inside are amazing.
wow effect with so much legends and a very powerful place I highly recommend

The gate was closed when I visited... for whatever reason.
The monastery needs maintenance, there is not an official ticket store but inside old ladies ask for 100 rubles entrance fee. Inside there is a beautiful cathedral and a tower that functions as a bell museum.
Old Russian Orthodox women's monastery of classical style, still shabby and look uninhabitable (May 2021)... Could be in a better condition though..

But here came other times, in which “... everything to the ground, and then!...” But “then” never came, and the ruins remained. Now some movement has begun in the monastery. And the bell tower and the gate in the forests. But the entire territory, quite large, is in desolation and ruin. (Translated by Google) Deposition of Robe Monastery. Active convent. It was founded in 1207 even before the Mongol invasion. A very picturesque and atmospheric place. Especially if you get caught in a thunderstorm (you can wait it out in the bell tower arch). The monastery contains the Deposition of the Robe Cathedral of the mid-16th century, the Three-tier Venerable Bell Tower (1813-1819) 72 meters high, and the ruins of the Sretenskaya Refectory Church. I would like to hope for a careful restoration of this delightful place, which would only emphasize its brilliant antiquity. Many scenes of the film “The Marriage of Balzaminov” were filmed in the monastery.

It is considered one of the few monasteries in Russia that was founded before the Mongol invasion. Unfortunately, its territory looks as if the Mongols left only recently... Those buildings that have survived on the territory to date were built in the 16-17th centuries and miraculously survived Soviet times. The highest bell tower in Suzdal is located on the territory of the monastery. Its height is 72 meters and it offers stunning views of the entire city.

In English, it is called the Cathedral of the Nativity. This is a historic building that was originally used as a cathedral of Orthodox Catholics. This building is located within the church building complex and other buildings. Located in the city of Suzdal, which can be reached via the city of Vladimir by the city bus for 45 minutes. The rest in the city you can visit this place on foot or use the Yandex online taxi service. Note: To be able to order a taxi online Yandex you can download the application on your cell phone. This place is now a beautiful museum with high art paintings on the walls and ceiling. At a glance from the front of this building looks like an ordinary old building with white paint that sometimes looks dull but beauty lies behind the dull wall. To get inside you have 2 ticket options, just walk around the complex and see the building from the outside yard, including the wooden museum. Or you want to buy an all-access ticket to enter the building. There is also a clean toilet inside the complex but you have to pay to enter and there is also a souvenir shop.
Also known as The Cathedral of the Nativity of the Theotokos. Unusual and unique facade coupled with an exquisite and elaborate interior. Inside the church was well decorated with intricate renovation and artifacts. Originally constructed in 1102 and was destroyed and re-constructed many times, this is a church with significant history. Definitely worth a visit

(in 1225 the temple was consecrated in the name of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary), rebuilt in 1528-1530. Externally, the cathedral looks quite decent, but the main splendor is in its interior decoration. The cathedral preserves frescoes from 1233 by Russian masters, executed under Bishop Kirill II of Rostov. No less interesting and significant are the preserved western and southern gates of the cathedral - an outstanding monument of ancient Russian art of the early 13th century (Original)

A more recent monastery from 1923, among the other monasteries in Suzdal this is probably the smaller.
(Translated by Google) A small active monastery. It looks very nice from the outside. It's 50/50 inside. Some of the buildings are in good condition, while others are in urgent need of restoration. But the architecture itself is very interesting: if you put it in order, you won’t be able to take your eyes off it. I was struck by a real fence, the kind that was installed in the old days and the kind that you can’t see anywhere now. A neat vegetable garden, apparently as part of the monastery’s self-sufficiency. The masonry of the wall is the same age as the monastery - the 18th century.
(Translated by Google) A chic, ancient monastery with cracking views, plundered and torn apart during Soviet rule. Now it is being restored. 9 monks live there. For 50 rubles you can enter the bell tower. I recommend climbing in. There are a lot of fat, kind cats around. 15 minutes walk from the city center. There's not a bad cafe nearby.

(Translated by Google) An ancient religious and ritual complex of buildings. An echo of the USSR - on the territory of the monastery (in the former fraternal building and bishop's house) there are apartment buildings, townspeople live (the game, of course, is long overdue for resettlement, one wristwatch (instead of Photoshop) can be sold and people can be moved into penthouses!), there is a children's playroom site - well, such normal Soviet urban schizophrenia). The godly lady from the church shop opened the temple for us, allowed us to look at everything from the inside (she didn’t allow us to take photographs, that’s why in words: modestly, without pathos, the frescoes have not been preserved), told us what she knew. The view of the river and the other bank is excellent; you can see an unrealistically beautiful church with a bell tower there.

(Translated by Google) The Kazan Church is a winter church on the Torgovaya Square in Suzdal next to the Trade Rows, built in 1739. A few tens of meters from it there is a steamy summer Church of the Resurrection, built in 1720. The temple contains the relics of Saints John and Theodore of Suzdal. And according to the assumptions of local historians, the custodian of the Nativity Monastery, Anania Fedorov, who wrote in the 1770s “Historical collection about the God-saved city of Suzhdal”, could have been buried in the building of the Kazan Church.
Excellent. Kazan Mother of God icon inside.
Right next to Bockrecenskaya church in the main square of the town, worth visiting as it contains some relics.
(Translated by Google) There was a beautiful church of noble white color with beautiful gray and black domes. It smelled of antiquity and history. But recently the church was repainted in bright colors and the old noble black and gray domes were replaced with shiny gold ones - the feeling of antiquity is no longer there, now the church looks like a toy made yesterday and is no different from other similar churches! Complete horror. Who allowed such “restorers” to visit a historical monument? Barbarism! It was never colored or had bright domes - you can see this for yourself, on sites with old photographs there are pictures from 120 years ago! They ruined the church, and with it the entire square and impressions of the city as a whole. Suzdal was my favorite city, and the central shopping square near the Resurrection Church was the most important place in it; I wanted to go there for these views, for this atmosphere. Now this atmosphere is gone, and instead of the old church there is a view of some shiny toy, as if made from plastic in a factory. Honestly, I don’t know whether to go to Suzdal after this.

Incredible cathedral inside the monastery
(Translated by Google) Spaso-Preobrazhensky Cathedral is the main temple of the Spaso-Evfimiev Monastery.  Built in the 16th century in the traditions of the ancient white stone architecture of Suzdal, it is monumental and austere. The five powerful chapters of the cathedral are complemented by two more on the side chapels in honor of St. Euthymius - on the south side and St. Sergius of Radonezh - on the north side. An arcature-columnar belt decorates the walls outside. The keel-shaped zakomars crowning the walls of the cathedral give its architecture a special harmony and expressiveness. The cathedral is surrounded on three sides by porch galleries of the 18th century.
