Great Central Railway - Loughborough is a must-visit for train enthusiasts, offering the unique experience of witnessing two full-sized steam trains passing each other. The railway runs through the heart of Loughborough and provides a nostalgic journey on steam, diesel, and railcar trains. Additionally, visitors can explore the Shackerstone Station, which serves as the headquarters and features a museum, Victorian tea room, souvenir shop, loco shed, and main rolling stock.
Fantastic day out at the diesel gala! £35 for a day run about having loads of fun hopping on and off trains all day. For me I loved the 37's and the Deltic. And it also restored my faith in the class 14's "teddy bear" after a break down with one when I was at dean forest. 🙄)

Brilliant preserved railway line. Both steam & diesel locomotives running today. Enthusiastic staff. Beautiful buildings at all the stations we visited. Museum fascinating & informative. gluten free cake in the station cafe at Loughborough a bonus. Only thing that could have been improved was no availability of cappuccino & Latte. Potential trick missed there for earnings for the railway, a lot of people don't like filter & will pay for good coffee.
Pat J — Google review
I visited the GC railway for their autumn gala and had a great time. As well as their own fleet of locos they also had a few visiting ones. I also went on a very informative tour of their reunification location.

Had a fabulous cream tea and steam train experience, even had chance to go onto the footplate. Lovely journey which brought back very fond memories

Absolute great place for a Sunday morning trip out and always friendly staff and helpfull. Galas are brillent aswell just wish they blast the steam whistles a bit more. Great trip for anyone who wants a lovely day

This was a trip for Fine Dining The food was excellent We were instructed the evening started at 18.30 with canapés and a drink prior to boarding the train, we were advised to be there 1/2 hr prior to 18.30 Ww were not guided anywhere for canapés and a drink prior to boarding tge train, by the time we left the station at approx 1915 it waa dark, at tge turn round of the steam engine we were able to alight the train and view the change around. We boarded the train once again then about half way through the return journey we stopped and sat there for at least 10 mins (no idea why) Probably more fun during daylight

I booked the sunday roast for 2 for my husbands 60th birthday. What an honour and privalage to experience a 5 star beautiful 3 course meal on board first class carage steam train. The food staff and service was Amazing 🍾🥂A Truly beautiful memory we will Never forget 💕Highly reccommend not forgetting the beautiful station Truly Amazing⚘⚘
Helen H — Google review
What an absolutely beautiful railway. Every station is perfectly presented and the volunteers that run it could not be more welcoming. The stations have been set up to represent bygone times from the early 1900's to the end of steam in the 50's/60's... With tea rooms at each station and on train buffets you will never be short of refreshments. This was my first visit to GCR, it won't be my last. Top work. Thanks.

Loughborough Town Hall is not your typical town hall; it's a vibrant arts venue that offers a variety of entertainment options. Built in 1855, it started as a ballroom and corn exchange but has since transformed into a hub for live music shows, art exhibitions, comedy performances, and theatrical productions.
Nice friendly venue with top acts. Great facilities. Enjoyed Daniel O Reilly the other evening. Great show.
Brian L — Google review
Visited here to see 'Legend - The music of Bob Marley'. The venue is good, although it needed a bit of a update in areas. The seats in the foyer aren't the best, the bar has got a good selection of drinks and snacks (at a price that you'd expect). The toilets were a bit smelly. However, the auditorium was good and we really enjoyed the show.
Ste — Google review
We have just been to see Peter Pan, a fabulous pantomime I would not hesitate to recommend. Great views from the seats, the seats are spacious and comfortable with plenty of leg room. Brilliant sound system so you can hear everyone really clearly. A really professional set up, great to watch and listen to. All the actors were marvellous, the younger dancers are a credit to the show, and there was plenty of laughs for young and old. Fab night out.
Billio51 — Google review
Pathetic customer service. They couldn't get my e-tickets to mail across, so eventually decided to issue a refund. When I rang to chase this, I was told that I should have been given the option of collecting the tickets on the night, as they don't issue refunds. Said that this wasn't good enough as they hadn't given me the option so I missed the show in question. Said I would complain in writing, did so, got ignored. Wrote again, got ignored. Just sending a third letter, not too hopeful. Will be going in person next - point of principle.
Simon B — Google review
Went to the christmas Panto, sleeping beauty, which was very entertaining and well worth the entrance fee. It's Peter Pan next year, get your tickets early as they sell out very quickly. As promised I saw Peter Pan today, ( Oh no I didn't, oh yes I did!) Not the best Panto I've ever seen, some of the characters seemed a little weak, the amplification was too shrill and at times distorted. As is normal in any Panto the Dame was the shining star and really worked hard to pull this show along, absolutly brilliant. Overall, I enjoyed the show and will be back next year for Snow White.
Carren T — Google review
Quite a nice venue. There is some decent parking close by which is useful. It feels pretty big as you could get easily lost in this place. The only thing I didn’t like was the chairs are connected to each other which means is someone is restless and moving around all the time, all the chairs move. it’s a bit disconcerting. Otherwise all is good. Staff were all friendly and helpful.
Colin D — Google review
Great customer service from box office who arranged suitable seats for disability. The Fureys were in fine voice with lots of old favourites, eg, Sweet Sixteen and Green Fields of France. Just like the old days! (Last saw them in 1985!)

Queen's Park, located in the heart of Loughborough, is a picturesque town center park with a variety of attractions. It boasts a play area for children, a bowling green, bird sanctuaries, and cultural activities such as summer concerts and art displays. The park holds Green Flag status and offers facilities like the swan maze, Charnwood museum, aviaries, and more. Visitors can also enjoy tasty treats at the Queen's Park Cafe.
Lovely little park, beautiful flowers.. very well maintained and nice place to take the kids out after bit of shopping in the local market
Nazrul I — Google review
A great place to relax on vacation Although the park is not big But it offers a lot more attractions than other British parks Can bring fun and satisfaction to tourists Except for the most famous tower in the middle It also has a small lake Birds often stay in the lake to rest The scenery is very pleasant There are also many very cute squirrels walking around here There is also a Bell that has been used before Introduced the previous history here But relatively The lack of space and the overcrowded parrots seem very cruel to watch... Many parrots are constantly chewing off their feathers because they are trapped here. They have to live in this poorly lit and crowded space I really don’t recommend it... Other than that, overall this park is very comfortable.
Zen C — Google review
This is a lovely open space for people in the centre of Loughborough. The gardens are well tended and many people were spending time there when I visited. The tower is impressive, the exhibition was open I enjoyed finding out about the memorial.

Queens park is the main park in the centre of Loughborough. It has recently seen refurbishments and resurfacing. The new bell tower is very sleek. The museum in the corner of the park is a win for kids. There is a huge play park on the opposite side also. Parking in Granby st car park makes it a short walk. There is also an aviary and AA great cafe at the museum. There is also a band stand which sees performances in the summer and the Carillon Tower. The one downside is that the toilets are always gross and out of order. We went at the weekend and two were out of order and the other spat the money back out. Such a shame for a lovely park.
Niki R — Google review
Beautiful, floral displays, lovely water features. Obviously loved & enjoyed by locals & beautifully cared for, no litter to be seen . Brilliant kids adventure playground with awsome slide. The tower is magnificent , with peal of 47 bells on Thursdays & Sundays. The cast from the biggest bell from St Paul's cathedral is on display in the park. We plan on visiting Taylors Bell foundry tomorrow which is just up the road

Primark is a beloved discount fashion retailer that caters to all ages, offering an extensive range of clothing and accessories. Beyond apparel, it also features homeware items like cushions and photo frames, making it a go-to for those looking to spruce up their living spaces. Shoppers rave about the incredible prices and variety available in-store; from stylish socks at unbeatable prices to themed merchandise like Nightmare Before Christmas collectibles that won’t break the bank.
Love Primark, great prices, great choices, you just have to check the sizes, as they're sometimes a bit off.. I got 5 pairs of socks for £3.00.. where else can you get that, plus they are decent quality. I especially love that their Nightmare Before Christmas stuff isn't super expensive, like it usually is..

Staff member about to process a refund, then a ridiculous power tripping manager refused to refund a product mis-categorised for the wrong age group as it had been washed. Had the correct hanger been used I wouldn't have bought the item in the first place as it is the wrong size. Be careful purchasing clothes from here, they use the wrong hangers for the items and then refuse to accept returns. Enjoy the £6.

Loughborough University

University
Loughborough University is a highly acclaimed institution that brings a vibrant energy to the town with its thousands of students. The campus, sprawling over 300 acres, features a unique bus lane and offers diverse shopping experiences in the compact Market Place and Rushes development. The university's stadium provides an enjoyable experience for sports enthusiasts. With a strong community feel, the university offers extensive sports facilities and accommodation options while being conveniently close to the lively student-populated town.
It has the largest campus covering more than 300 acres of property. It is so big that there is actually a bus lane running through the campus. Allow amber time to reach your location if you are new to the campus. An umbrella is a useful tool to carry with you all the time. My daughter is really enjoying the marketing course with constant engagement with the local businesses to enrich her experience. Beautiful and quite place for study.
KC L — Google review
Enforced leave of absence My time at Loughborough University has been deeply challenging, and I feel compelled to share my experience. I was placed on an enforced leave of absence due to 'incidents' stemming from mental health/suspected neurodiverse reasons, which I feel was handled poorly and with little regard for my individual situation. Since being placed on leave, I have repeatedly expressed my desire to return, but my pleas have been ignored. The lack of communication and empathy from the university has been incredibly disheartening. Instead of receiving guidance, I’ve been left in limbo with no assistance, which has only compounded the mental health struggles I was already facing. While Loughborough has a strong academic reputation, I havent felt supported as a student with mental health challenges. I believe the university needs to improve its handling of students in distress, especially when it comes to clear communication and offering real opportunities for students to continue their students. Date of experience: 12 December 2024
Chloe B — Google review
Timetables are completely chaotic. Students are given very little guidance to navigate the campus with buildings being referred to by more than one name and no guidance where acual rooms are Registration designed by woke HR , If this is one of the best universities I'd hate to see the worst

I just finished my foundation program this year and it was so much fun. Events and activities are well-organised, which I really enjoy. Staffs and members of student union are friendly. Teachers are supportive. For me, the module is good, which has trained some useful skills. Luckily this year my classmates are friendly and amiable. The atmosphere is just very fresh, peaceful and close to nature. Sometimes there are some squirrels run around the school, which is cute. Overall I had a great experience this year. Thanks Loughborough !!

Outwoods, located in the National Forest in Leicestershire, is a 110-acre ancient woodland with various walking routes. Dogs can roam off-lead if they have good recall and are rewarded with doggy flapjacks at the on-site cafe. The woodland features easy access paths, a bird feeding station, and a natural play area for children. Visitors can enjoy the beauty of bluebells in spring and vibrant autumn colors.
Had a great time here. There were different trails you could take, amazing scenery and even a cafe. Parking fee was £2, which is great especially because I wasn’t planning to stay for long. Overall, I recommend this to anyone visiting or in Leicester who wants to go for a great nature walk.

No toilet facilities open, werent working on a packed day, however parking was cheap and easy to find, however you can park outside for free (if its not muddy and you can find a space), can see loughborough university, benches are common to find and the walk only takes around 60 minutes. Cafe available and interesting history.

We decided to go to the Outwoods because the walking trails were in a concentrated area. It offered a choice of walks for people who wanted to keep to easy walking. As well as walks that took you higher up to show you more of the views. There is parking for approx 60 vehicles. It cost £2 for the day. There is also Olivia's cafe where you can buy excellent food and drinks. There are toilets as well. We certainly enjoyed ourselves.

You’ll never have a bad walk in these woods. It can be busy in good weather. All the dogs we come across are well behaved. And then there’s the decision to make on what you’re going to eat from Olivia’s! You might need to go on another walk afterwards 😃

We visited the Outwoods on a sunny but cold day. We had a lovely walk through the woods. It was so quiet but filled with bird song. All the bluebells were out. There were great swathes of colour. Dolcino is a charming eatery known for its funky gelato flavors like Pumpkin and Cinnamon, Ferrero Rocher, and Lemon Cheesecake. The diner-style decor adds to the 50s vibe, making it a perfect spot for a summer treat. In addition to their sweet offerings, they also serve savory crepes, waffles, and smoothies. Located in Leicester, this culinary haven offers exceptional service and a warm atmosphere that makes customers feel at home.
Great ice cream and desserts but also tasty savouries. Italian style cafe with outside seating in good weather. Inside is clean and smart with boardgames available for kids. Close to the cinema and all the shops. Friendly and helpful staff.

We were looking for somewhere for lunch, as a rule, Dolcino's I think crepes and Ice-cream, we tried it for lunch, I ordered something simple, bacon sandwich and sweet potato fries, Not good, ciabatta was not toasted or buttered, dry and steaming??, both that and the fries looked like they were heated up?. I took my food back twice the 3rd time I just ordered a toastie, which was a little better. Nice place, shame, in need of management?
ANA S — Google review
The BLT was good. It’s a nice cafe with a slight American, slight Italian vibe. The one thing which I would say could be improved is that the shakes were all severed in plastic cups even though we were eating in. It seems like it would be far more environmentally friendly to use reusable glass cups for people staying in the cafe. Otherwise a really good experience!

Tian Fu is a delightful culinary treasure that deserves more attention for its exceptional offerings. This Asian Fusion restaurant boasts an extensive menu that invites you to explore a variety of dishes, reminiscent of the beloved 'The Basin' which has since closed. The contemporary decor, accented with traditional Chinese elements, creates a unique dining atmosphere. Families will find the staff particularly accommodating; they are attentive and knowledgeable about dietary needs, ensuring everyone feels welcome.
A largely undiscovered gem and deserving of more recognition and support. Food is fantastic... if you enjoyed the Asian Fusion fayre of 'The Basin' which sadly closed down as a restaurant a couple of years ago, then Tian Fu is what you're looking for. The menu is extensive and we will keep revisiting until we've fully explored all the options! I only marked down a star on atmosphere because it's pretty quiet and needs more diners. Decor is contemporary, with traditional Chinese accents. Staff are friendly, work hard offering prompt service. Highly recommended

Absolutely delicious! The har gow (shrimp dumplings) were plump and filled with whole juicy shrimp. The salt and pepper squid was super crispy and flavorful. Portions are generous, and everything tasted fresh and well-prepared. Highly recommend this place if you’re craving authentic Chinese food!

Food was amazing here. Portion sizes were huge and both starters and mains were fresh and flavourful. Service was slightly slow with one waiter (front of house) and one server (drinks and food) but the attention to detail was next to none Both members of staff catered for my family and also took pride in allergies and recommended certain dishes with rice/noodles or spicy est. Will be returning again

I have driven past this place many times & never tried until now. I really fancied a change so I googled & found their website with their big box meals. Omg! What an amazing idea to put all the favourites in one box!!! Our box was filled to the brim, was hot on arrival ( delivery was quick) & everything was amazing!!!! I had originally planned to share this with my husband but it went between 4 of us with some left. Next time I will order an extra sauce as for that amount of food you need more but that's personal preference as I love my curry sauce. But honestly it came crispy too! Cash only. They don't accept cards at the parlour. They sent you to a website where prices are higher by 10-20 percent than on their leaflet. Decent food though, however it took 40 mins to deliver.

Family restaurant
Nestled in Loughborough, the Harvester Wheatsheaf is a delightful family-friendly chain restaurant that caters to a variety of tastes. With an inviting atmosphere, it specializes in grilled meats, fresh salads, pasta dishes, and seafood options. The staff here are known for their exceptional service; they go above and beyond to accommodate dietary needs, ensuring that guests feel comfortable and well taken care of.
We had been for a day out and I had originally booked for my partner and our children for 3pm on the Sunday. My daughter has dairy and egg allergies, so rather than booking online, I decided to call to speak to someone regarding their procedures for my daughter's allergies. Luckily enough, I managed to speak to the manager, Bekki. I explained the situation regarding the above and before I could start asking questions, Bekki started telling me how they deal with this. Front of house know and inform the chef/kitchen and we also get a tablet with all the food and ingredients on it and you can put in your allergies/intolerances and it will tell you what is available. From start to finish, it was a very good system and put my mind at rest. I was very impressed. The only other large food establishment that is this thorough, that I've been to, is Hickory's. Anyway, we got there on Sunday (albeit an hour early!) and we were seated straight away. The lady that checked our booking, confirmed the allergies and gave us our tablet. We chose our food and our waitress also knew about the allergies and confirmed that she would double check with the kitchen with anything we ordered. We got our food (which was very nice by the way) and the waiter that bought my daughter's food even washed his hands before bringing it out, which shows complete dedication to me! There was only one gripe and that is, is that we did have to wait a while for our dessert's. From start to finish, I was very impressed with the way they handled everything with regards to my daughter's allergies. Very professional and they actually cared. Thank you very much.

The food was absolutely excellent! The meal tasted fantastic, from the perfectly cooked grill items to the tasty sides. The unlimited salad bar was incredibly fresh and fully stocked, making it a brilliant start to the meal. Definitely a 5-star experience for the food quality!

I really like the food here. Never had a bad experience and is always good value for money 💰
Paul B — Google review
The food was overall good (I especially recommend the chocolate fudge cake) but the service was shockingly poor. Not sure if they are just under-staffed or poorly managed, but long queue at the entrance with different staff having to both wait tables and greet new arrivals. Empty plates weren’t cleared (I ended up taking them to the kitchen myself) and 15 minutes after finishing dessert I’m still sitting waiting for the bill. Could be so much better.
David Q — Google review
Great service, smiley, friendly staff! We came during a very busy spell on a Sunday but service and food was really great. One of our party has a peanut allergy and there was absolutely no fuss around that. She was shown her peanut free menu options on a tablet, which was very professional and easy to navigate. Tables and restroom were clean. Would definately recommend :)
Marta Z — Google review
The table next to us were served, eaten and went even though we were seated at least 20 mins before them. Daughters food was inedible. A burnt pizza. Told the waitress who just said “ok”. Between the cook and the waitress they must have seen how poor the pizza was. We were there for two and half hours. Staff avoid eye contact to avoid you or just keep walking if you ask for help. You need to get out of your chair and stop someone. No butter for bread. Salad bar half empty and dirty. The place looks like it’s given up. Absolutely awful.

I honestly can’t say enough good things about the Harvester in Loughborough. From the moment we walked in, the staff were warm, friendly, and genuinely welcoming — it makes such a difference when people actually seem happy to see you! Everyone we spoke to was polite, attentive, and really went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. It was such a refreshing change compared to our experience at the Coventry Harvester, where the staff were unfriendly and unhelpful, and we were told they’re not even dog friendly. At Loughborough, it’s the complete opposite — the team here are kind, accommodating, and even made our dog feel welcome. That small touch meant a lot and really added to the overall experience. The food was fresh, well-cooked, and came out quickly. Everything was exactly as ordered, and the staff checked in just the right amount — attentive without being intrusive. The atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable, perfect for a casual meal out. Overall, the Loughborough branch truly stands out. The people here clearly care about their customers and take pride in providing great service. It’s such a welcoming place — we’ll definitely be coming back again soon. Highly recommend!

Picked up a 2good2go bag. It was a bit of a wait but the staff looked after me and were super friendly. Food quality was super good. 2 big bowls fresh salad mix with a bag of rolls and a half chicken, or sparrow! It was a bit small but it did the job! Really nice experience so I would definitely get again or dine in. Thankyou all and hope to see you soon.

Park
Nestled in the heart of Leicestershire, Beacon Hill Country Park is a nature lover's paradise that beckons visitors with its stunning landscapes and diverse wildlife. This expansive park features winding trails perfect for hiking, where you can encounter grazing sheep, cattle, and even alpacas amidst 135 hectares of lush heath and woodland. The park is also home to unique sculptures crafted by chainsaw artists, adding an artistic flair to your outdoor adventure.
Beautiful place. I felt fresh and invigorated after the climb, which wasn't too hard. The landscape was relaxing, and we met cows, yaks and llamas. The toilets are at the top of the hill. The café is down in the lower car park. Beacon Hill is next to Bradgate Park. It won't take you more than two hours to do the whole route, taking your time. We parked the car at the top of the hill, then followed the route down to the bottom, there's a maze on the right, a play area on the left, then back up again following the route where you'll meet animals.

Beautiful vistas at a great country park. With the views, the rocks, the woodland paths, and the alpacas along the way, there is something for everyone. There are restrooms in the parking lot, and parking is reasonably priced. It is unquestionably worthwhile to visit. I will definitely come back.

Beacon Hill is a truly stunning park and a must-visit for anyone in the Loughborough area. The trails are well-maintained, making for a pleasant walk, and the natural scenery is simply gorgeous. It's an excellent spot for a family outing or a peaceful solo hike. The panoramic views from the top are breathtaking, and it's especially magical during sunset. The way the light hits the landscape creates an unforgettable scene. The park feels well-loved and cared for, and it's clear a lot of effort goes into its upkeep. Whether you're looking to enjoy a leisurely stroll, take in some incredible views, or watch a beautiful sunset, Beacon Hill delivers. I highly recommend it!

Visited here for the Saturday 9am parkrun. Parking is take a ticket on entry and loads of spaces, only £2 for parking for a couple of hours. The run itself is well managed and not a huge crowd, so plenty of space. Road shoes were fine in good weather, majority of the paths are gravel. It's very much uphill for the first half, but a pleasant run back down.

Absolute gem of a place. Lovely to either walk or run in the beautiful environment. Once you get to the Hill, you’re rewarded with a breathtaking view. You can see as far as Nottingham and Derby. From the lower car park it’s 40 min walk to the Hill. There’s also upper car park which is about 10 mins walk. Car park is £5 for 3 hours or more. There’s also a play area for the kids. Cafe located at entrance as well as very clean and tidy toilets. I would highly recommend it.

Mountain peak
Beacon Hill, located near Woodhouse Eaves in Leicestershire, is a vast country park offering diverse landscapes including ancient woodlands and open grasslands. As the second-highest point in Leicestershire at 248m, it provides stunning views across Charnwood and boasts remarkable geology with some of the oldest rocks and fossils in England. The area aspires to become a UNESCO Global Geopark.
I visited Beacon Hill with my boyfriend today for a walk, and it was absolutely stunning. The heavy fog created a magical atmosphere, and I couldn’t resist taking loads of foggy photos—it was all so picturesque! I hadn’t been to Beacon Hill in nearly a decade, and it was just as amazing as I remembered. The area is perfect for a peaceful stroll, with plenty of dog walkers and beautiful scenery. It's a truly lovely spot to reconnect with nature!

Absolutely superb museum for its size. We spent at least an hour here. With the grand children. Well worth a visit. The cafe is also very nice.

Love the museum, it's very informative and still love to walk around looking at all things from yesteryear's of days gone by . And it's so relaxed in there . So don't feel hurried . I must say the toilets in there are very clean . But didn't expect the guy behind the counter to be in there checking them as I came out from using them . Out of respect just knock the door first before you walk in . As we went in late and there was plenty of time and hardly any people in the museum at the time . Other than that I enjoyed my visit ..

The sports complex Charnwood Golf & Leisure Complex is a great place for adults and children alike. It has high-quality facilities, and it's in good condition. However, some bits need TLC, and it would be nice if the complex got more attention.
Beautifully themed holes with a local connection. Really well planned and laid out. Friendly welcome and great price (£8 when we went). Would highly recommend trying this one out.

Great course, very well thought out. Some very tricky holes. Has been designed with a lot of thought. Very interesting story as you go around the course, love the story of Loughborough. Very interesting and give the course another element. I have only dropped a star because for the explicit content playing while we were playing. I'm not overly precious about it as my children are slightly older but I wouldn't be happy of my children had been slightly younger.

We stopped to use the EV chargers, then realised they had an indoor Adventure Golf Course, so we went on in and played a round. The staff were really, really friendly and welcoming. The course was a history of Loughborough and was as informative as it was fun. Excellent all round. Rapid instavolt chargers with Chademo too.

It was generally a good place with good stuff but they failed to provide me a basic service about my broken driver went to the field, which I had a video proof and the driver head seen in the video. They told me they will get back to me the day after that. Unfortunately I had to call them back several times and the driver head was gone on the field. Possibly they binned it and now don’t take responsibility.

I had my sons 10th birthday party here last week. This kids loved it, adventure golf followed by an hour of footy on their 3G pitch was great. After all the activities they tucked into the included food which the kids also loved. On top of all that they stayed open an extra 30 minutes to accommodate our booking. Excellent value and amazing value. Massive thanks to the awesome lady that sorted our booking out (forget her name).

Gardens
Whatton House in Loughborough, Leicestershire, LE12 5BG is a popular tourist attraction featuring a beautiful garden and arboretum that's partially wild. Visitors can enjoy the fantastic smell of the blooming wild garlic while taking in views of the countryside along footpaths. There's also a coffee kiosk by the fishpond where kids can watch fish. The greenhouse isn't used much, but visitors can pay in cash via an honesty box.
This garden was such a lovely surprise; I hadn't expected the gardens to be so extensive. In addition to beautiful flowering borders there were mature trees, woodland paths, ponds, statues and more to explore. Allow at least two hours for a good wander round; you might want a break part way through so the little outside cafe /converted horse box in the courtyard serves a welcome selection of hot and cold drinks and a few cakes, but it's only open on certain days. Entry is a £5 charge through the honesty box, so remember to take the right change. Parking is free. Well worth a visit.

Went with the wife for a first time visit. The grounds are lovely and although not as massive as some houses, they will still keep you occupied for at least 2 hours worth of strolling. We had a cream tea in the restaurant and it was very nice and reasonable value at £10 each for a fresh baked scone, cream, jam and a cup of your choice of tea. Parking was ample and toilets clean (unisex). We're Historical House members so got in for free but it's only a £10 otherwise.

An absolutely lovely walk through the origins of Christmas with great characters and beautiful lights and scenery. Plenty of lovely food and drink stalls from mulled wine to pizza around and open fire. Aimed at the kids but excellent for the parents as well. Loved it. Give it a go!!

A delightful garden and arboretum to stroll through. The owners have encouraged partial wild plants to grow. I imagine that when the wild garlic flowers it will smell fantastic. Views of the countryside along the footpaths. Coffee kiosk is alongside the fishpond so the kids can watch them. It is a shame they haven't made more use of the greenhouse. Pay in cash via an honesty box.

Interesting place. Big grounds to walk around, quiet and peaceful. However it had a kind of genteel neglect feel about the place. I don't know if it was the time of year, or to do with the heatwave, but most flowers had gone over and there didn't seem to be any effort to have something to replace them or dead head etc. The pond had a thick layer of algae over it and in general the place didn't feel like it was being managed. We still had a nice time, and I imagine it was much more colourful a month ago, so it may have just been bad timing. The £5 entry fee seemed about right. (Cash only)
Adam F — Google review
It was a beautiful sunny day and the gardens were at their best. I came away with two plants for my garden too from the nursery. I wish one of my boys was getting married, the teepees looked fabulous and the setting would be stunning.

A visit for the truly epic Halloween garden walk. Love actors bring the fantastically decorated gardens to life - all in character throughout. Too many favourite parts to include! Parking is easy on the huge field, there’s good toilets and lots of stalls during the event offering food. A warm fire Kees you cozy on the queue. You’ll go around in a small group, making it all the more fun (and a bit scary!)

Tarboush is a vibrant eatery nestled in the heart of Loughborough, specifically on Market Street. This delightful restaurant specializes in authentic Lebanese and Moroccan cuisine, offering a feast for the senses with dishes like char-grilled BBQ Lahm Mashwi, Chicken Shawarma, and Vegetable Moussaka. Since its opening in 2010, Tarboush has become a beloved spot for those seeking rich flavors from the Middle East.
Amazing place, wonderful decor, delicious food. The interior design takes you to the Arabic world, colorful and warm. Music, shisha, relaxation and coffee. A place where you want to come back. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Really nice restaurant with a great range of Lebanese and Moroccan food. Food from the grill very flavourful. Nice set of options on the kids menu. Delicious baklava to tie off the meal. Some interesting sounding drinks options to try next time.

My partner and I went here for the second time.. unfortunately the server got our order wrong as we only ordered a starter, the food was absolutely delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed it, we explained to the waitress the mistake and she was adamant that we only paid for what we ordered and not what we had received, my partner was more than willing to pay as we had eaten it and enjoyed it.. we can not fault the staff in trying to rectify the error, we maybe should have shown the waiter what we meant as he was confused. Thankyou to the helpful staff. We were very happy with the food and surroundings and will definitely be back.. thankyou again for the service you gave us.. it was much appreciated.
Lorraine M — Google review
The interior perfectly reflects the atmosphere of a North African and Turkish restaurant - it reminded us of places we visited in Granada (Andalusia). A warm welcome and very helpful staff, and of course, most importantly, the food tastes delicious. I must admit that the menu allows you to choose many combinations of dishes and they are prepared perfectly. And once again the service makes you feel at home..
Lukasz T — Google review
We visited Tarboush for dinner last night, the food was ok, but I would say we were quite surprised at the price for the amount/quality of the meal. I felt like we paid £54 for what was probably worth about £25 worth of food. It was £36 for a bottle of wine, so I opted to have a small wine and soda, which cost £8.95. Shocking. The service was quick and the waitress was nice, the atmosphere was fine. Probably nice to go for a wrap or lunch dish but I feel it is over priced for an average meal.

I went to the restaurant with my partner on a Saturday evening. We booked it through their website a few hours before we went. The restaurant got busy around 7pm. The place is well decorated and has a great atmosphere. The restaurant is bigger than it looks from the outside. At some point throughout the evening, a beautiful entertainer came to show us some belly dancing. It was exciting and fun to watch. The service was flawless. They were very attentive and rapid to respond to anything we needed. I don't recall many places that I was so well served around the area. And finally the food... They have so many vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free options that people with dietary restrictions don't need to worry. Everything we ordered was delicious, with this different flavour that gets to your senses. We will come back soon, I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

If you ask for a medium steak expect well done 👏 was looking forward to a nice steak to have this chewy hockey puc on my plate the gammon chicken and other meats where good but after eating a bite of this steak and spending the next 10 minutes chewing i was put off eating the rest such ashame as I came about a week ago and had a good steak but I guess this is a hit or miss pub such ashame oh forgot to mention it took a hour to come out of the kitchen! Update went to the garage to get some food because I was still hungry really ruined the start of my days off i had high expectations.

Do not go here if you have a big party, unaccommodating - have ruined my birthday as I had pre booked with more than enough notice and was confirmed by a lovely man on the phone and then was called hours later by a woman named Kim and was told because I hadn’t pre ordered food, they wouldn’t take the booking (I was never told to pre order food initially). Was messed about completely after going in and speaking to a member of staff that confirmed the booking could go ahead, to then be called hours later that they actually couldn’t take my booking, to which I called again and was told it was fine and then called again that the chefs couldn’t do it. (Not sure how the chefs cope daily, if they can’t handle 15 orders at once). Ridiculous customer service - would not recommend, especially when trying to organise a family outing for a special event. I have come here every year for my birthday and this has never been an issue before.

Attended around about 6pm on the 1st September for my son's birthday!! Waited about half hour which isn't an issue at all, don't mind waiting. However my daughter was very disappointed with her mixed grill. No sizzle. Sizzler had alot of watery liquid assuming from the mushrooms. Steak was very fatty & didn't get get eaten. Infact hardly any of the meal got touched. Chips was cold on all the meals. Waitress did come & ask if everything was ok & I said "Honestly no the Chips are cold, not even warm" she said "I will let the chef know" However fish & chips was also purchased. No faults with the fish what so ever!! It was hot & nice but again it was let down by the cold Chips! I'm not 1 to complain but really was disappointing

Gastropub
Nestled in the charming town of Woodhouse Eaves, the Old Bulls Head is a contemporary gastropub that beautifully blends classic and modern elements. This inviting venue boasts a seasonal British menu with delightful Mediterranean influences, making it an ideal spot for any occasion. Their Sunday roasts are particularly noteworthy, featuring fluffy Yorkshire puddings, crispy roasted potatoes, and fresh seasonal vegetables—perfect for those seeking a hearty meal.
Came here to do some work on the back room ceiling aswell as other areas across the pub. Some fantastic staff work here... I didn't get all their names. But I'd like to send praise to Emma, Amanda and all of the ladies working in the restaurant and to the chefs who were extremely helpful during my time on site yesterday. The food coming from the kitchen looked stunning and also working in the back of house I could see the chefs took a real pride in the food they were preparing and sending out to happy customer. The old bulls head is a traditional country Pub / Diner very tastefully decorated with a roaring real log fire. Photos show its lovely and clean, it's very well presented and the tables are set to add a little elegance to your dining experience. A big thanks for looking after us during our visit guys... 🙂 (D)

Decided to stop here for lunch after a long drive back home. Food was really good, the slow cooked pork belly with scallops was excellent and my partner said her oven cooked monkfish hit the spot as well. After such brilliant food we could not resist having a dessert as well. It's been a little while since we've dined here and this time around the Old Bulls Head did not disappoint.

Lunch for 12? Challenge accepted – and absolutely nailed by this place! I had the British Half Rotisserie Chicken with smoked garlic aioli, proper fries (with the skin on – yes please!) and that rich, comforting gravy… topped off with spiced honey. Simply delicious – like a warm hug on a plate. Everyone at the table was happy, full, and smiling. No complaints, just clean plates. Beautiful location, great vibes, and food that hits the spot. We’ll be back – with even more people next time!

Just happen to find this place by chance and as it turns out, is now going to be one of my favourite places to eat. The food was exceptional, the staff and service friendly and was such a lovely atmosphere. I had goats cheese to start followed by a fillet steak and a tiramisu. I’d highly recommend!!

Absolutely fantastic place. I’m going to list, prepare yourself…great parking, attentive and polite friendly staff, clean and contemporary surroundings, extensive exciting menu (I love my food), pan fried lamb mwah!😘, rhubarb and strawberry crumble to die for!! Fish and chips were very light and tasty according the husband. We would definitely come back and we’re from Derby so not just round the corner but worth a little drive for sure!! 👌🏻 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Came for a meal with a friend for a catch up and had a great time!!! I had the seabass with clams and it was lovely, my friend had the mushroom and onion pizza and the pesto on top was a perfect touch, would definitely recommend, thank you to Sam the chef! Our server Elivia went above and beyond to make sure that our evening was perfect, she was friendly and attentive but gave us time and space so we didn’t feel bothered or rushed out. Thank you very much for such a lovely evening, we will definitely be back soon!!!

This is my first time eating at The Old Bulls Head and I wasn’t disappointed. The food was beautiful. Taste wise and presentable - thanks chef Sam for the great meal! Service from Will was brilliant. He was pleasant, polite and chatty. Would highly recommend and I would definitely return.

We held our wedding party there after our civil ceremony last week & honestly it was the best decision we made! Lauren & Dan were so friendly, efficient & helpful during the whole organisation process. The food was excellent, all the guests really enjoyed the buffet service - everything fresh & hot which we really wanted! The day was perfect and it was all down to the team - thank you everyone at Bulls Head for making our day so special (especially Lauren!). I would not hesitate to do any future events / lunches / dinners there again!

I had an absolutely wonderful experience at Good Food Kings! The food was simply amazing—full of flavor, fresh, and beautifully presented. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it the perfect place to relax and enjoy a great meal. A special mention to Abigail, our waitress, who was so polite, friendly, and attentive throughout our visit. She made sure everything was perfect and really added to the experience. And Jo, the manager, was equally lovely—welcoming and professional, ensuring everything ran smoothly and that we felt truly valued as guests. Visited The Kings Arms for food and drinks as a couple and had a great time. We ordered the mixed grill and the steak — both were cooked really well and tasted delicious. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the staff were friendly and attentive. Lovely place for a relaxed meal and a few drinks — we’ll definitely be returning!

We thought the service was really good, friendly and helpful and the food nice; properly cooked, hot and tasty. I would have liked more sauce on my starter, but apart from that, no problems. Excellent value for money.

My friend and I have just enjoyed the perfect lunch of Scampi Chips and Peas. Presented nicely, the meal was hot, and there was plenty of it for the reasonable price that we paid. It was not our first visit here, which is why we returned. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Next in Milton Keynes offers a wide range of clothing for men, women, and children. The store has two floors with a large selection of items. Customers have praised the friendly and helpful staff who are willing to assist with finding items and answering questions. The menswear section is larger than expected, with an extensive collection of suits and shoes. Additionally, the store offers home ware including bedding and towels.
The Next store at Milton Keynes has a fantastic selection of clothes for men, women, and particularly children, with a great range of styles and sizes to choose from. What really stood out to me, though, was the level of customer service that I received. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. They were happy to help me find what I was looking for and answer any questions I had. The layout of the store was also well organized, with clear signage and a logical arrangement of products, which made it easy to navigate and find what I was looking for. Overall, I would highly recommend the Next store in Milton Keynes.

Poor stock control just like every other Next store. Changing rooms were falling apart, lights blown, hooks broken, no seats. Obviously don't care enough to spend a little time to fix. No air conditioning in the changing room, everyone was trying on the same sweaty shirts. Gross!

Churches & Cathedrals
St. Mary de Castro Church in Leicester is a historic Norman church with a rich and somewhat mysterious past. Dating back over 900 years, it is believed to have been established as a collegiate church near Leicester Castle. The exact origins of the church are uncertain, with some locals speculating that it may be even older. Rebuilt in the late 12th century, the church features a striking spire added in the 15th century.
Best Sunday Guide about this historical church ⛪️ ever. It’s very medieval 🏰 location and extremely clean inside! Very calm and peaceful ☺️ place! I highly recommend visiting this place if you’re in Leicester. And don’t forget to check King Richard iii Visitor centre.
Sangar — Google review
Lovely church. I received a very warm welcome. The inside of the church is gorgeous and music plays throughout the day. It's a very lovely experience. They really appreciate visitors here and are very friendly. I would love to visit again. It's near a lovely park and is quite wheelchair accessible. There's certain places, you can feel God's presence. This church is one of them.
Devon W — Google review
We came here as it was open to the public as part of the Heritage Sunday open days that Leicester currently run with several local venues to visit on the last Sunday of the month. This church is well worth the visit. It is huge and very beautiful and is almost as large as Leicester cathedral with a lot of history. We didn't have a guide but a kind local pointed out prominent features and told me a little of its history, gorgeous place.

The Cathedral with King Richard III coffin would seem the draw, but this church is absolutely amazing. You step through the door and you feel it's heritage and age. It's a beautiful church.

My wife and I were fortunate to attend a beautifully sung and solemn Mass at this historically important church. The priest and parishioners were so kind and we enjoyed the conversation after Mass. Historically and aesthetically St Mary de Castro is most impressive with a long and distinguished tradition so ably continued with the present parish community.

The Climbing Station in Loughborough is not just your average indoor climbing center. It's a community-driven facility designed by climbers for climbers, offering an exceptional indoor climbing experience. With over 800 square meters of bouldering surface suitable for all levels, it's a playground for enthusiasts. The center also features a cafe and offers courses for both adults and children, making it perfect for those looking to exercise, have fun, and learn new skills.
Not sure why I haven't left these guys a review before. Love climbing here. Old skool, technical setting with robust grading. A great variety of walls, with a nice traverse in the warm-up section. Endurance room is phenomenal, and a great spot to practice and well... build endurance. There's a small top roping section where I bring the kids, and the staff are always friendly. They could do with selling some food other than just cakes, and it can get a little cold in the winter. Aside from that, I'm here as often as I can!

I had a brilliant time visiting the climbing station for my induction. Emily was really friendly and taught me loads to get started and make the most of the centre. There was a really nice atmosphere and the climbs were really fun and tricky. I can't wait to return!

A very friendly environment, with well trained and knowledgeable staff. We had a 1-2-1 with Adam and learnt some rope climbing skills. Then went through bouldering and ran through the differences here. Adam was an incredible guy, really down to earth and friendly. Really patient with us and ran through any questions we had. Highly recommended place with lots of bouldering and some rope climbing walls. A nice clean and comfortable sitting area to grab a brew and cake. Loved every minute of climbing here and will be going back regularly now.
James F — Google review
I've been going here for a while with friends. In my opinion it's one of the best bouldering facilities near Leicester. The staff are so lovely and helpful, and there is a real community feel from all who go there. The coffee and homemade cake is delicious too!
Ellie D — Google review
Amazing staff, very friendly and helpful. Especially with special needs people. 😍 Lots of fun to have!
Shelley J — Google review
Absolutely love going here the staff are all so friendly and the atmosphere is fantastic. I myself go climbing here regularly they have a range of different difficulties for climbing ranging from V0 to V8+. The are always changing the climbs which is brilliant as you always have new and challenging climbs to combat. They often host climbing events and competitions which is great for socialising and boosting your climbing ability. They also sell a range of climbing accessories and cloths. Would recommend 😀
Christian C — Google review
Nice venue but didn’t really enjoy the problems, grades very hard for what they are. As a novice that can climb up to 6B I didn’t find it very appealing and my partners second only time bouldering she really struggles here compared to other venues, not as many jugs on problems.

Really enjoyed the food. Service was spot on. Had a friend with us who never had a curry out before and the staff really looked after him and made sure he would be happy with his choice. I had tandoori prawn stater 10/10 then Chicken Naga. Nice and hot but still so tasty. Would recommend based on our visit. We had a table for 15 and all were impressed.

Have just returned from eating dinner at Eastern Spice. The food was absolutely beautiful, staff very attentive and I think it was v reasonably priced, £26 for poppadom/ pickle tray, pint of larger and a mixed Korai (chicken, lamb, king prawn, kebab) amd pilau rice. Can't recommend highly enough!
Lesley D — Google review
Food was okay not worth the price. Too much vegetables in my chicken balti had to leave half of it. Took my own drink on which the waiter said it's against the rules. My bad I didn't know. Another waiter asked to bring papadoms, I said if it's on the house, then bring one or two. Upon receipt of the bill he charged for papadoms as well. Turned out he didn't understand my English properly.

Booked a meal as part of out trip to Loughborough. The food was amazing and we ad totake the leftovers away to eat later. Staff very attentive. Many takeaways going out of the door, probably due to the England QF on later that evening. Very reasonably priced. Book a table and go.

Awful customer service.. spent £25 on a curry and rice and naan.. realised my address was wrong on just eat app so rang to inform them to deliver to 91 not 93 and the attitude I got was dreadful and not what I’d expect from a customer focused business.. spoke to me like I was a child or a bad smell.. and even hung up eventually.. instantly cancelled my order and won’t be ordering again.. I always liked the food I’ve eaten here for years but I ain’t a mug and won’t pay people that treat me this way.. 0 out of 10!

Picturesque setting and hotel has a lovely external appearance. Internally the hotel had a 70/80’s feel to it. Reception was very busy and so took a while to check in with no issues. Room was very tired but comfortable. Bed was fine and bathroom clean. Shower was over the bath with an awkward screen that made getting in and out a bit dodgy. Shower head was either a dribble or single high pressure jet and water temp a hit and miss affair. Food in the restaurant was very good with a reasonable selection. Lots of loud talking and door banging around 3am for an hour or so but this is hardly the hotels fault as some people have zero consideration for others. All in all not a bad stay ( apart from noise) and reasonable value.

Rooms are lovely. Amazing hotel. Just had 4 to 5 wasps come through the vent theough the night. Kids to scared to use the bathroom until I tried to get them out. But more came. So used reception toilet. This could be of the heat or maybe a nest in the vents. Informed reception. Food was amazing and the staff were very friendly and accommodating.

Beautiful place, clean rooms but the most uncomfortable beds I've experienced in a long time. Hard, lumpy and noisy. So grateful I was only staying for one night as hardly slept. Didn't get chance to sample the restaurant but did have a baguette from room service which was delicious. Tried to order a pizza late at night as it says available 24 hours but couldnt get a reply from reception

There was literally no water. The taps, the toilet, the shower. Very tired building. The mattress was also way past its sell by date. It was all clean to be fair. I didn't eat so cant comment on the food

Room was very dated, but clean. No water in room, when asked at reception she said because it was a standard room but said Will supply some, receptionist forgot about us then hour & half turned up with a carafe of water and said they don't have bottled 🤔. Had dinner first night here the food was tasty but the service was terrible, drinks weren't brought to you on a tray ? Us another couple had to go to bar in another room to get second drinks only to find staff chatting in the kitchen. Ashtrays were disgusting in beer garden. You did have lovely French doors from your room but no table n chairs to sit outside on, I think that would be so much better if they were supplied. Drinks weren't served in correct glasses. Would I stay here again probably not .
Sam J — Google review
Be aware this hotel is not disable friendly lots of steps and stairs no cold water in room bed was very comfortable but glass bathroom doors are not what I would’ve chosen if I’d known . We was given a room about 200 yards from reception which is far away from reception and car parking .this was in the very hot weather asking for a fan we was given the smallest fan ,that wouldn’t cool a cupboard breakfast was very nice

It's good to see all the units are let. Shame the car park is so expensive! However if you spend £10 at Tesco or £5 (I think at M&S) you get the first 2 hrs free. Be very careful because if you go one minute over, your forfeit the 2hrs of free parking and have to pay the full fee. 1 star knocked off for the extortionate cost of parking

Charnwood Arts is a great local organisation that promotes creativity that is really friendly and welcoming. I have attended lots of the creative workshops and have been able to try out lots of new things that I wouldn't have been able to try otherwise. Can't wait to come to more things!

A truly wonderful place that has helped me to regain my love for art and music and helped me to find my true creativity in my art practice. Charnwood Arts provides a wide variety of creative workshops and supports local artists on their creative journeys. The only sad point is there are not more places like this around Leicestershire.
Daniel P — Google review
A friendly hub of arts, based within Charnwood community. Personally I attend The Drawing Room, a free art group on Mondays 10-1pm where we share knowledge and general chitchat in a supportive, welcoming environment with free art resources to use during the sessions. I find it is a great place to learn, socialise and experiment in different art techniques, and with each person at a different stage and level of art skill it is always interesting. There is a theme each month, but you can either choose to follow the theme (however loosely and in whichever medium you choose), or you can do your own thing. The theme is just for inspiration if you are stuck creatively. The small community-focused art gallery within the building is constantly changing exhibitions too so there is plenty to draw inspiration from.

Thank goodness for Charnwood Arts and CEO Shirley Novak - as she made the fantastic edit suite available and generously gave us her time and expertise that enabled my wife Evelyn Silver and myself to complete the editing of our film ‘Our Street’. We had previously had such a frustrating time with free editing software ware, but the Charnwood Arts editing suite really is a terrific resource. Hugest appreciation! Local resource, local artists, local treasure!

Charnwood Arts is a vibrant arts organisation that delivers outstanding art exhibitions, workshops and courses for their local community and further afield - supporting anyone who wants to explore creativity in a safe, welcoming and friendly environment. The work they do to also support local artists is encouraging in a way that provides long term connections and opportunities, with a gentle listening ear to be able to guide artists towards achieving their ambitions. An all round wonderful and welcoming arts organisation in Leicestershire.

This hidden ancient Loughborough former rectory is fast building a reputation for being a great venue for small exhibitions. The "Pantry Gallery" is an intimate space which hosts a variety of exhibitions and events throughout the open season - April-October - while upstairs houses the museum's own collections. Loughborough Markets, located in the Market Place, have been a vital part of the town's life since the 13th century. Recognized as the Best Outdoor Market in Britain in 2017, it offers a diverse range of products including fresh produce, clothing, antiques, and more. With around 40 stalls open on Thursdays and Saturdays, visitors can explore an array of items from books to household goods.
Little but, mighty market in Loughborough Fresh fruit 🍈 🍋‍🟩 and vegetables 🌽 🍅 🥬 🌿 🥦 But, some items such as clothing are not genuine. Purchased a few items but, the size did not fit me. Had to replace them. You have plenty of charity shops 🏬 The egg 🪺 lady as can be seen in these pictures, is polite, happy 😊 kind and gentle. I bought eggs 🪺 from her twice now.

Nestled in the charming Sparrow Hill area of Loughborough, Caravelli stands out as a delightful Italian restaurant that beautifully marries tradition with modern flair. Housed in an old beamed building adorned with sleek darkwood furnishings, this family-run gem offers a diverse menu that ranges from delectable pasta dishes to mouthwatering seafood and meat options, all prepared in authentic Italian style.
A lovely Italian restaurant in Loughborough. We had a good evening there celebrating our anniversary. Great service, fantastic food. Was really impressed by the pasta, 100% recommends sea food one, you can add more cheese if you want to. Tiramisu was brilliant as well! We will definitely come back to try other dishes. Thanks for everything.
Sijia Y — Google review
Our first visit here. Very attentive and friendly staff. We had three courses each, which we very rarely do, but didn't know what portion sizes would be. We thoroughly enjoyed it all. This was followed by an Italian Aperol Spritz, which was the best! We shall return.

I've been to Caravelli a few times now, and it has definitely become my new favourite restaurant in Loughborough! The food is delicious and the waiting staff and owner are very welcoming and friendly and has a lovely interior style. I was so disappointed when Browns Lane went down hill and then eventually closed, but I am really glad I discovered Caravelli and is my new go-to 😁🇮🇹🍝
Alice W — Google review
Walked in on the off-chance on Tuesday's "pasta night" £19.95 including a glass of house wine (my red was fruity and quaffable) - was looking fully booked but I was accommodated being a single diner. How glad I was too! This is a rare highlight in an otherwise dreary town. The staff are friendly and welcoming as well as proud of their very authentic food. I started with a very generous ANTIPASTO ALL’ITALIANA - I say generous, bearing in mind this is a fixed price special menu. Then followed a wonderfully spicy PAPPARDELLE CON SALSICCIA full of fennel & pepperoncino. Dessert is an optional extra - I decided, on the basis of it being homemade, to try the classic Tiramisu. It was very pleasant although to my mind, not the absolute real deal - lacking the espresso & booze kick of soaked sponge fingers. I finished with an aged grappa and cappuccino. Total bill including service was £43. I highly recommend this charming restaurant.
Bob H — Google review
My family visit Caravelli quite often as they get a good meal for a reasonable price. This is the first time I've been there and I really do like it. The decor is really nice, seating is comfortable and the staff are both friendly and attentive. Wine is the better choice, as with most Italian restaurants, but they have bottled beers and a reasonably stocked bar for spirits and soft drink. Food was nice, well cooked and nicely presented with a very good selection to choose from but not so much that you struggle to decide. We all had starters and mains and a couple also had deserts. We also had coffees to finish. Overall, the staff make the place for me, extremely friendly, very professional and attentive. Really happy to recommend (also try the mussels for a starter, you won't be disappointed)
Mike W — Google review
Lovely relaxed Italian restaurant. Very friendly staff and a good atmosphere. Food was very good and serviced quickly
Michael T — Google review
It was our first visit to Caravelli's and we ate the best Italian food we have been served anywhere in the UK for our celebratory birthday dinner. Parmigiana di melanzane and bruschetta made an encouraging start followed by sea bream pan-fried with garlic, pink pepper corns and fennel which was delicious. For dessert, lemon posset (the special) and home made tiramisu (light and delicious). Complimentary limoncello made an excellent finali. The house wine was good value and the service was friendly and efficient. We retired to our room above the restaurant after a wholly enjoyable experience. We dined in the restaurant again the next evening and chose garlic mushrooms followed by papardelle con rucola e caprino (papardelle with rocket and goats cheese) and finished with tiramisu. All in all, the food, wine and service made for a memorable experience which is worth travelling to repeat.

Cafe
I am delighted to have discovered this establishment! The bakery at Olivia's Coffee & Bakery is exceptional, particularly their bread which is also available for purchase. I must mention their delectable fruit and nut sourdough that disappeared within a day of bringing it home. They offer an extensive selection of specialty teas, with mango and pineapple being personal favorites, as well as a diverse menu spanning sandwiches, bagels, wraps, brunch, and lunch options.
Olivia’s is my favourite coffee house in Loughborough. The cappuccino is wonderful and they have the best cruffins which change weekly. I still long for the white chocolate cheesecake they did it was that good! Fresh baked goods to buy on site, the sourdough loaves and focaccia are excellent, all the sandwiches are very tasty and the specials board can have some fun new things. The staff are also all absolutely incredible helpful people who serve with a smile and good humour. I’ve never left Olivia’s disappointed that is for sure!
Dee — Google review
I used be a regular customer when this place has just opened up a few years ago. Their sourdough bread was delicious. After a while the quality wasn’t the same. Recently I bough a loaf of white bread for £4 and it also didn’t taste anything like it used to. For a premium price I’d expect a good quality product. It seems that the business has clearly started to cut corners and the quality of their products has gone down the hill. It’s such a shame since I really enjoyed buying bread from them. Sadly I will not be returning back. Please sort your quality out to how it used to be or reduce your prices if you are offering inferior quality products.
Ana N — Google review
Thank you for delivering these Olivia's bakery! We heard it's not a normal occurrence but you kindly accommodated my friend. Much appreciated especially after caring for a newborn 24/7! As a family we do enjoy your baked goods and often travel to Outwoods and Loughborough just to get some nice bread.

Olivia's is known in the local area for their fantastic (and enormous) pastries. Both indoor and outdoor seatings are available and it is always a great place for meeting up. However the till staff can be a little slow at times, and once saw a staff member picking their nose then went on to touch food without washing hands.

Lovely little cafe. Go and try a cruffin!!! The coffee is absolutely amazing too. We had a sourdough loaf of bread the last time we visited. I honestly had forgotten that bread alone has flavour when it's freshly made and not bought in the supermarket. It was lovely. Highly recommend.
Niki R — Google review
So glad we stumbled across this place! The bread is by far the best thing about it, available to buy as well! Special mention to the fruit and nut sourdough which didn’t last 24 hours after we got home :) They have a wide range of specialty teas, mango and pineapple being my fav, and have a large menu to match too. Sandwiches, bagels, wraps, brunch, lunch, you name it, they do it! Prices are fair, and despite how busy it has been whenever we’ve gone (3 times now) wait times are always impressively short. The vibe is welcoming and the place is comfortable and cosy, offering a range of tasty cakes and pastries if you just fancy a nibble. It really was top notch stuff and there is no doubt in my mind we will be back again and again. Thanks guys!
Dom S — Google review
Sad to see the revamp has made this one into a "grab and go" service. Still some chairs and tables inside but a shadow of its former self. Much restricted menue of a few sandwiches and pastrys, paper cups, and no toilet. We used to go regularly, when we went most recently we saw other regulars walk in and straight back out again. They offer an alternative of Olivia's in the Park (attached to the museum) which we tried but we're a little disappointed, not as lovely and cosy as the old Olivia's and coffee art needs work!
Isabelle D — Google review

The atmosphere and aesthetic was amazing with plenty of seating, service whilst slow was incredibly friendly. Food took a very long time to cook and, unfortunately wasn’t worth the wait. Burger was dry with juice or flavour, buns were flattened, the cheese was burnt and very little portion size for the fries.
