Ennis in 3 days

If you only have 3 days to spend in Ennis, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Ennis is a compact, riverside town known for its well-preserved medieval lanes, traditional shopfronts and friendly, small-town feel. It’s one of Ireland’s best spots for live traditional music, with nightly sessions in many of its pubs. The town makes an easy base for exploring County Clare’s major sights, including the Cliffs of Moher and the Burren. Museums, heritage centres and walking tours offer insight into local history, from Franciscan friars to the story of the Irish diaspora.
With favorites like The Ennis Bookshop, Dromore Woods Trailhead, and Queens Hotel, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like The Monks Society and LANA Ennis (O'Connell Street) Asian Street Food so you can get the best taste of Ennis while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

Irish restaurant
Restaurant
Brogans, a long-standing family-owned pub located on O'Connell Street in Ennis, County Clare, is a beloved establishment steeped in tradition. Recently renovated under new ownership, this classic Irish pub offers an inviting atmosphere where locals and visitors can savor quality food and drinks. The menu features homemade soups, salads, mussel starters, locally reared steak, baked fish dishes, and stacked beef-burgers.
One night in Ennis and Brogan’s did not disappoint! I popped in after a quick Google search for a good local restaurant, and I’m so glad I did. I ordered the chicken curry with rice—it was a generous portion and absolutely delicious. Cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, and great food. Highly recommend if you’re passing through Ennis!
Marissa T — Google review
Cosy restaurant with a nice warmed terrace. The food was good, of high quality and looked great when served. The price of the food was correct. Rather the service was friendly but a little unorganized. They came too early to clean the table and even asked for dessert while we were still eating our main dish.
Victor D — Google review
It's difficult to beat the ambiance of a classic Irish pub and this one is a great example. Eclectic decorations, cozy seating setup, delicious food and cold beer. Makes you want to stay all night.
Chet A — Google review
Amazing experience. Such accommodating service and Amazing food. We got two cowboy burgers and both had drinks and it only came to €50. Amazing quality burgers and their chips are beautifully fried. Genuinely could not recommend more

Excellent cowboy burger, you ave to beg to have them cook it still pink smothered chicken very good. Rib eye was a little fatty. Worth a visit.
Chris D — Google review
We had four of us for lunch. Place was quiet for a Tuesday afternoon. Food/service was good, place was clean, and has a large bar, and plenty of tables.
Tim — Google review
Had the boiled ham and cabbage at Brogan’s and, honestly, it tasted like a warm hug from an Irish granny. The atmosphere is buzzing, the people working here are absolute legends, and I left full, happy, and maybe just a bit in love with Ennis. Brogan’s isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a vibe.

A great venue in the middle of Ennis town centre and right next to the library. The acoustics are great and really comfy seats too. Very well organised for events, and you can also get a drink at the bar. There's also a cafe open during the day for lunch and snacks. Parking is free at night, and €3 per day during the day.
Aj S — Google review
Great place to visit. During our visit they were having a trad session with great musicians and such a lovely time. The scones were fresh out of the oven, the coffee was good and warming on a cold rainy day. It is a great place to visit and get to know a bit more about the place. The cafe closes at 2.30pm, so do not be caught with this time, and it seems that they have a new schedule overall. During the trad sessions it can be quite busy, if you want a table, arrive early to get a good sitting spot.
Flavio M — Google review
Excellent venue. Really comfortable seating with plenty of leg room. The bar is well staffed, so there are no massive queues. My only issue is the parking. It is very limited. Perhaps make an arrangement with nearby Dunnes to allow more than 2 hours if there is an evening event?
Goretti C — Google review
Absolutely fabulous venue, the theatre is wheelchair accessible and they provide a bar where you can get drinks or tea and coffees. The staff are friendly and helpful. There is also a lift if you need to get upstairs to the balcony. There are plenty of parking outside and accessible parking spaces.

Celine heart must go on concert 24 Oct. Very disappointed with show. Acoustics were too loud , difficult to hear the words of the songs. A group of intoxicated girls were shouting & laughing continously during the show. The venue itself is good. Unfortunately the show was not.

Lovely and handy shopping centre with a nice sized Tesco, O'Connors bakery, shoe repairs, a great chemist, good value restaurant/cafe, gift shop and a small Penneys store...and all businesses here have lovely and friendly staff 🙂

Nice shopping Environment A few Big Name Stores In Situ, parking can be a bit of a challenge Patience Required but wouldn't put me off shopping here.
Danny O — Google review
Penny's is known as Primark in some other countries, we got some well priced home stuff and clothes. Tesco was large and had the usual stuff you would go in for. The chemist was helpful and cheerful and busy. I've taken a star away because I thought the phone shop was selling potentially knock of labubus for €15 euros.

Great atmosphere, Very hospitable staff, Delicious breakfast and lunch. Suitable for all ages with plenty of options of freshly cooked food. Looks smaller from outside but inside there is plenty of seating area.

A lovely cafe, spread out over three floors. Staff were friendly and professional. Plenty of seating, not too crushed. We had the mini-breakfast. It was delicious, so good I forgot to take a photo. If you don't like your beans touching the rest of your food, you will have to let them know. The bathroom is on the top floor. Lots of steps, I did see a few people with crutches going up the stairs. The place was clean.
Kerry B — Google review
I love the place it's very beautiful. But the Italian omelet missed the spot. The Italian sausage wasn't even mixed into the omelet it was just a couple of slices lol. The coffee was great.
AEGV V — Google review
Great café. Staff are friendly, tend to your needs while also giving you space to enjoy your food and company. Vegetarian breakfast was delicious, perfect portion size, and excellent value. Will definitely visit next time we're in Ennis!
Alex H — Google review
Have been going here regularly for years and have never had a problem until recently. In the last couple of months, there's been a very steep decline in the quality of the food & ingredients unfortunately. The potatoes have been rotten multiple times, The gravy had an extremely weird taste, The vegetables have been completely unseasoned every time we have ordered. This has been the number one café in town for multiple years but this decline in quality hasn't gone unnoticed. Please sort it out! We miss Café Aroma.

Ennis Friary, founded by Donnchadh Cairbreach O'Brien in the 13th century, evolved into a significant religious center and educational institution over the next four centuries. Despite its closure after King Henry VIII's Dissolution of the Monasteries in 1540, it continued to operate until around 1690. The site features medieval carvings, including an image of St. Francis with stigmata in the nave.
A definite must visit. Very polite girl welcomed us in and gave us a nice overview of the Friary and then let us go along on our own. It took us about 40 minutes to go through. Alot of interesting history here. Worth the visit if you come to Ennis. I believe we paid 5 euro to enter.

A small museum of an old abbey in the city centre of Ennis. I really like how they combine the ruins with a lot of open glass walls. The entry is 5 Euro for an adult and 3 Euro for a child/student. You can spend about 20-30 minutes here.

Definitely worth a visit. A guide gives you a brief historical overview then you are free to wander around the places. It's very well maintained and there are lots of cool carved details in the walls and in the graveyard. The main area is covered, so this is a perfect rainy day activity.

Love the place, but. The dogs! People clean after your pet or let him out in your own back garden! I cant remember a walk where I wouldn't see dog's poo or wheeled the pram on one. Only the other day my 4 yo son sat on the grass to rest and turned out his hand landed in dogs poo. And thats not even inside the woods.. There should be no dogs allowed. Simple as. People are too inconsiderate of others.. Disgusting. Shame on you.

Bar
The Monks Society, located at 2709 S Kaufman St Ste A in Ennis, TX, has a rich history as a former bar, grocery store, and drop-off point for boats traveling to and from Galway and the Aran Islands. Today, it has transformed into a restaurant that beautifully blends the old with the new, focusing on serving an array of seafood. The establishment offers various dining rooms with unique decor styles that transport guests back to the Middle Ages.
This is not just a restaurant, not just a meal. Everything is made to stimulate your senses. The atmosphere will involve you completely and you will surrender yourself to it. Lovely staff, who we kept bothering and asking questions, and they gave back always with a smile. We're very happy we found this place and we intend to come back

Had a lovely brunch in the pink room of the Monk Society. Every room is stunningly decorated, the bar is beautiful and the food and service was great. All the staff were really friendly and helpful. It was so nice to see this beautiful building open for business again and so lovingly refurbished.
Aisling M — Google review
A wonderful restaurant located in a 13th century former temple. There are several different rooms, decorated in completely different styles, but very stylish in each case. The excellent stylish atmosphere of the restaurant takes you back to the Middle Ages. There is a hall in delicate pink colors, in the style of "Barbie", you will like it for meeting with a friend. The food was not impressive. Not bad, but not amazing. But the atmosphere is just great.

Booked a table of 12 for dinner to host our beautiful friend's hen party! I live in Ennis but the hens came from all over to attend and they had an absolute ball! Special shout out to Sorcha who was a dream to organise the details with and is such a genuine gorgeous person! We had a delicious 2 course meal plus 2 cocktail trees (so yummy) and bubbles 🥂 Everything went so smoothly and our Bride to be was absolutely over the moon. It really is the perfect backdrop for a special event or beautiful date night! Thank you to the staff for having us and for making her day so special. Continued success 🤍

Restaurant
LANA Ennis, located on O'Connell Street, offers a wide range of delicious and flavorful gluten-free Asian street food. Unlike many places in Ireland, LANA provides options that are both gluten-free and full of spices. Their menu includes dishes such as Pad Thai with prawns and chicken, crispy chicken with chili, all prepared using gluten-free soy sauce. Not only do they cater to those with celiac disease but also offer a variety of other dishes for individuals seeking gluten-free options.
Happened upon this place as we were driving from Dingle to Lahinch. We were pleasantly surprised by the delicious food and great prices. After eating lots of pub food throughout our trip in Ireland, it was refreshing to have some different flavours.
Gabrielle T — Google review
An enjoyable and easy dinner at the end of a long day. Hot and tasty. There's soft serve custard after the meal. My service experience was just as expected.
Donald F — Google review
I can't even give it a one star. This place is absolutely vile. Went in there the other day on a off chance with the family. Ordered the food was inedible my lad ate his and we refused to touch ours it was chewy no flavor and just no effort. The absolute jobsworth of the cashier was rude, aragont. She needs sacking or getting some respect. DONT GO UNLESS YOU WANT INEDIBLE FOOD OR A MOODY OLD WAITERESS. Nothing tasted what it looked like or even resembled in the pictures
Twet — Google review
Street Asian food with base quality and teens environment. 2 course deal of 23€ is reasonable and fair considering the big portions which are served. I liked a lot the chicken curry with cashews, the sweet & sour chicken and satay skewers. Didn’t like the fried calamari or the duck rolls.. I recommend for value for money purposes the visit and try it !
Vas V — Google review
The rumors are true I guess. Generally poor experience from whenever I have gone here. Compared to the location on the Gort road there is a huge decline in food consistency and service. Both times I've been forgotten at the table for ordering and had poorly made Green Tea served shockingly late at the end of my meal when I can't really drink it. I would highly recommend the location on the gort road over this, both times I've had a poor experience which has left me miffed to say the least having to pay.

I saw someone walk out with a spicy box and I told my wife I need to get one because I was craving fries. My wife looked at me and thought I was crazy because she thought I would be disappointed especially when most of their clients on a Friday afternoon is a bunch of teeny boppers. i went in to order one among a throng (at least 50) of screaming 12-16 year olds. It was maddening and chaotic. The inside was very well decorated especially a wall art with expertly arranged bowls. I appreciate the staff getting me food in under 10 minutes and handled all these loud young adults with expertise and professionalism. It was admirable. I appreciate the spicy box for what it is. A perfect execution of a fast food dish with fries, fried chicken, and some vegetable garnishes slathered in a soy/thai chili sauce (wife thinks it was light Sichuan). It was decent. Appreciate you brightening our day.
Chino L — Google review
Got into this place randomly. Ordered chicken tom yum soup, chicken chow mein and fried dumplings. Enjoyed each of them. Excellent taste, hot food, great portion sizes, great service. Great find I Ennis, also Lana as a restaurant is a great find.
Arjun P — Google review
Excellent street food! In our travels through Ireland, we’ve often found it hard to experience gluten free food with spice. Not spicy, but full of spices. Our experience at LANA was quite the opposite. My daughter and I had Pad Thai with prawns and chicken as well as a crispy chicken with chili. They had gluten free soy sauce and an array of dishes for those with celiac. It was a bit of a bus ride but well worth it. And there was gluten free Italian food across the street as well. Such a find.

Very good food and service, we definitively will be back ! Part of the positive experience comes by the fact that our daughter is coeliac and that there is plenty of gluten free options for her : dough pizza balls with garlic butter, all the pizza’s & all pasta. Also brownie & ice cream … our daughter had a blast, and for us parents, it was really reassuring!

I was there with my family for a quick lunch on a Friday afternoon. The restaurant was nice and clean. We got a nice table in a corner as my son didn't want to sit in a centre of the restaurant. Staff was very nice and attentive. We got our drinks and starters fast and the pizza arrived very quickly too. Everything was nicely baked and served and super delicious. Special thanks to Ciara ( I hope I got the name right - blonde hair with glasses) that was serving us and also the other waitress that was on a shift (long black hair) for putting a super huge smile on my son's face with the desert. Thank you!

Best. Breakfast. Ever! The first thing we noticed was the positive attitude of the staff. They seemed to have their best time serving their customers. Not only just friendly, but happy to work there, their smiles genuine. We spoke to the owner when we told him the food was exceptional, every omelette, or scone, or toast. Everything prepared to the wishes of us, every ingredient could be picked to our individual likings. The taste was outstanding! Very delicious, along with the great coffee choices and teas a culinary feast! The simple explanation by Fionn: "Nothing beats fresh ingredients". I'd like to add: Only if prepared with love for food, joy and customer dedication, then you can experience what we did: Exceptional taste with grand service. Our best breakfast so far, thank you guys 👍🏻💪🏻😎

Excellent restaurant with tasty food either to eat in or take away and very pleasant staff. Their catering service - of which we availed of recently -is second to none with a great variety of menu selections. Well done to Fionn and staff

The acai bowl is delicious and so is the coffee. Definitely worth a visit. The staff are also lovely and very helpful. It would be good if they could get a highchair for the little one. Overall, great place 👍

The staff was so helpful.. they made the coffee custom to our taste.. They have full breakfast but we had scones and coffee and it was great.. They even had cream for your coffee.. how great is that.. The staff are incredibly nice.. they went out of their way to help us. If you are in Ennis or within 50 km.. eat here.. you will be blessed.

It offers an array of activities for the whole family, including bowling, soft play, laser tag, astro turf pitches, snooker and pool tables, air hockey tables and video games. The center also serves hot snacks, tea and coffee every day of the week.
Amazing facility for all ages. We just had our daughter Ariah Rose 7th birthday party, we did soft play, 9D cinema and laser tag and all the kids had the best time, even the adults had a go at the laser tag and cinema. The food was lovely and the girls were great with the kids. We will deffo be back next year. Thanks again to all involved. A great day had by all

Good night out, family fun, good value for money. Staff helpful and friendly. Worth a visit if in the area.
Zena P — Google review
We had a great family visit to Planet Ennis and really enjoyed our afternoon. We played bowling and laser tag and some other arcade games. There was a good selection of games and activities and the laser tag arena was excellent. The top up card with credits was great. The staff were very helpful and courteous overall, aside from one person on the tea/coffee dock who was a bit dismissive. Overall our party of 6 had a brilliant time, but I feel there were two things that could easily be improved. 1) It would be great if the laser tag could be booked through the website. It was annoying to have to phone and book this separately and when I did this, my phone booking did not get logged. Thankfully when we arrived the staff were able to facilitate us anyway. 2) My family wished to have coffee and a snack, but we were not permitted to enter the coffee dock seating area as it was exclusively for parents whose children were in soft play. We had to take our teas and coffees and walk quite a distance with hot drinks to sit elsewhere. This was a bit hazardous with small children running around. Aside from these things we had a great time and would recommend this activity centre.

Book store
Gift shop
The Ennis Bookshop, established in 1970 by Mary and the late Michael Evans, is a family-run independent bookstore offering a wide selection of books for all ages. In addition to books, the store also provides toys, cards, and unique Irish gifts for both men and women. The spacious and clean interior creates a comfortable browsing experience in this centrally located shop. While primarily selling new books, there is also a section for bargain and value books.
What a amazing team who run this lovely gem of a independent bookstore! Although not from Ennis I ordered a book online which was unavailable in all other store throughout Ireland. Through no fault of the store the book was delivered to the wrong address due to the incompetence of the delivery company but wow did the store do all in its power to correct. A new copy was sent out to me ASAP and I was kept informed in real time till my book arrived. Not only did it arrive promptly but with a beautiful complimentary book mark and a lovely handwritten note from the team.
Frances O — Google review
Absolutely appalled today when I went into shop .My son has special needs and we wanted to go down the back of the shop but he couldn't manage the 3 steps .To access that part we would have to go out down a lane and in the back door. This is outrageous. We are nearly in 2025 and people with disabilities are still been forgotten about.
Claire M — Google review
Could not have been a more pleasant experience. Even though the book my wife was looking for wasn't in stock the shop keeper was more than helpful in directing us to the other book shops in town. Thank you

Spacious, clean and felt comfortable to browse in a relaxed space. Its a big store with a good mix of books and gifts. Treated myself to a wall map with pin drops to show family where I have travelled, loved this gift!
Nick B — Google review
I first visited the store in February 2003 with my young son. He loved the Harry Potter books. I bought the first four books. The clerk gave me their phone number just in case I need anything in the future. I said I was visiting from the United States. They said it was OK that they would ship to me. Every time a new Harry Potter book came out I called them and sure enough they got it for me. The time they took to write a note with every book shipped I appreciated. The way they came wrapped in brown paper and string my son thought back to his time in the bookstore. They treated him so nice. They even gave him part of the Harry Potter display to bring home. He is now 24, for his birthday this year I made sure that I got his Harry Potter book. So thankful it is still open and the clerks are still just as nice as I remember.
Shari L — Google review
centrally located independent bookshop, selling new books mostly ( smaller section of bargain and value books also) eclectic stock, the bookshop itself has a downstairs cafe area at back, and while its not the largest , its well stocked ( good local section) . Could almost have more stock given its size, some of the shelves can look somewhat bare. Customer ordering service. Popular with locals in the town.
Tomás C — Google review
Couldnt ask for nicer, more helpful staff and reasonably priced bookshop. If they don't have what you are looking for then they will order it and call you when in stock. Huge thumbs up

Good food and nice staffs but plain environment. I thought lamb cutlets would be a fried one but actually it's similar to US version of a lamb shank. I ordered a lamb shank but that's not what I expected.

Went for lunch Saturday.. the staff could not have been more helpful with an above and beyond service attitude. It's very hard to find this level of service anymore. We were travelling for work. I really wanted a proper steak. They sorted me out with request including dietary needs. Tasty food, steak cooked as requested. Wholesome food. We did only try the steak. Highly recommended. Nice toilets, nice room, comfy seating and decent sized tables. Will be backif back in Ennis!. Thanks all!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I recently had the pleasure of dining at Town Hall Bistro in Ennis to celebrate a friend's birthday, and the experience was outstanding! From the moment we walked in, the service was impeccable. Special thanks to Rafa, Paulina, and Kathlyn for making our evening so memorable. The food was absolutely delicious, with each dish beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that our celebration was perfect, and their attention to detail did not go unnoticed. I highly recommend Town Hall Bistro for any special occasion or just a fantastic meal out. We’ll definitely be back!

I would give it more than 5 stars if I could. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The staff were attentive and friendly. The food was do die for. I had the cod and crab risotto and loved it. My husband had the lamb. I had a taste and was blown away. And my son has the chicken which can be boring but was anything but.

Clare Abbey, founded before 1189 on the banks of the river Fergus, is a significant historical site in County Clare. This old monastery, built in 1194 and considered a National Monument, offers a glimpse into its turbulent past. Surrounded by natural lakes and mature wooded areas, it is an ideal destination for history enthusiasts and those interested in medieval ruins. Visitors can also explore nearby attractions such as Bunratty Castle and Corcomroe Abbey in the Burren.
This gives an idea of historic passed. It's free to enter. Little explanations but you can imagine how it would have looked all those years ago

A stunning abbey and so well perserved, it has good parking and the grounds were well kept and tidy, there is loads to explore and the interior is large. I truly enjoyed my visit you will too, cheers
Michael G — Google review
Very good size ruins with a good amount of room to walk around in. Have to be respectful and careful of the graves here, but it's very peaceful. Also, if there are other people here, you need to park on the two lane road before the abbey road because there is little parking and a narrow one way road to the actual abbey itself.
Jacob T — Google review
Looks interesting from a distance but we didn’t have time on our trip to walk all the way. Do not attempt to take your car up to the abbey, access is on foot only. The road is incredibly narrow with little opportunity to pass or turn around and no warning signs. Some people had parked on road side but as this is marked with dashed yellow lines it is not encouraged. It is a shame there isn’t more information to help people visit such a beautiful place.
Claire H — Google review
Well preserved abbey on the outskirts of Ennis. We stopped in the explore just as the sun had set.

A former Augustinian monastery given away by the English king Henry the eighth to a couple of his supporters. You can read about it on Wikipedia under Clare abbey.

Definitely one of the best historical structures we came across, both because of its size and it's history. Definitely look up it's history while you are here! Was able to park right next to it and walk in. No one else was there when we went in April. We spent around 30 minutes here.

Quin Friary, located in County Clare, is a well-preserved friary founded around 1402 by the MacNamara clan for Franciscan friars. It was built on the ruins of a Norman castle destroyed after the Battle of Dysert O'Dea in 1318. The area also features other medieval ruins like Corcomroe Abbey, dating back to the 14th or 15th century.
Very peaceful Friary and spoke with a local resident tending graves. She enlightened us with enthusiasm on the history of the Friary and aspects of the construction. It's worth a visit if you are ever in the area. Free to enter.
Keith P — Google review
An absolute hidden gem. It is in a really great condition. Unreal to walk through the cloister where the Franciscan monks have walked. You can also clearly see the parts of the old castle walls and tower remnants that have been used for the Friary. There is also a burial vault. The metal door is closed off but you can peek through the holes (see photos).
Leroy T — Google review
Very charming town! We stopped just to visit the Abbey but our toddler ended up playing in the playground and we walked into the restaurant/bar for a bit. Lovely people! The ruins are pretty and quick to explore, took us maybe 35 minutes but we weren't in a rush. Sept 17, 2024.

The old Franciscan monastery is impressive even as a ruin. What is quite interesting is its current use as a burial ground.
SVC — Google review
A nice old ruined Friary to visit. There’s no roof on it and it was abandoned long time ago, but there’s a nice graveyard around it that still used to this day. It’s free to enter, but there’s limited parking nearby, there’s some spots just around the corner. It’s somewhat popular, there was several people there while I was there. That tall tower is still intact and there’s a nice courtyard in the middle, with rows beautifully carved pillars, that’s similar to other Abbeys. The entranceway and looking inside makes for a nice photo.

Grateful for those who posted photos here, since we're traveling from far and won't be able to get back. Peaceful location. You can walk around the outside, shared with some very chill cows.

Most wonderful proper pub I’ve ever been to. A place this old, with so many historic relics, there’s just a magic in the air. Established in 1864, if your family came from county Clare, or Ennis specifically, it’s an amazing feeling to think that someone way down your line enjoyed a good time here. Visited two times while we were in Ennis and the live music both times carried the spirit of the country. There’s a great selection of Irish whisky and the Guinness was fantastic.
Rich G — Google review
Just a little fish and chips snack. Good, but to be honest, we have had better fish and chips elsewhere. The bar was set really high as Ireland pubs have great fish and chips.

Knox's Pub in Ennis is an absolute gem! The service is top notch staff are friendly, attentive, and make you feel right at home. The atmosphere is fantastic, buzzing with energy and that authentic Irish pub charm, complete with exposed stone and wooden beams. The Guinness is poured to perfection, creamy and smooth, easily one of the best pints in town. As a GAA fan, I loved catching the Tyrone game (We lost 😢). Perfect for soaking up the excitement with locals and visitors alike. The traditional Irish music sessions are a highlight, with talented musicians creating a lively vibe that gets everyone tapping their feet. And the food? Delicious! From hearty beef and Guinness stew to fresh seafood chowder, every dish was packed with flavor and made with local ingredients. Whether you're here for a pint, a meal, or the craic, Knox's delivers an unforgettable experience. Can’t wait to return

Sat outside, for a quick mineral as we had been walking for ages. It was €6 for a 200ml 7up and 200ml coke. I thought that was a crazy price, I don't even want to imagine what an alcoholic drink costs. But it seemed a lovely venue and the staff were lovely & friendly.

Nice beer selection and the pulled pork sliders are great. It's very very dark though, I know pubs have low lighting to create a mood, but I saw so many people fall going up and down the steps just because they couldn't see. Would hands down he the best pub in Ennis if there was just a little more light. Even when the sun is shining outside it's pitch black in here.

I honestly did not know what to expect. I was worried about having tapas in Ireland after many visits to Spain. However, I can report that I should not have been one bit doubtful after what I can only say was an excellent spread. It is not typical Spanish cuisine but a take on it that I loved. There was a good selection and I loved the pork tacos. Chicken wings were small but plentiful and tasty. We also had nachos, vegetarian and beef and a very good sized portion. They vanished! Finally we had the beef, chicken and pork sliders. They were excellent. The pork won out for me! McHughs is a fine bar with a large whiskey selection. Cocktails are also on the menu. My only negative comment, and this is a personal opinion like the rest of the review, is that I found it extremely warm in the premises. Other than that I will say that I will definitely be going back again.

A lovely restaurant but very quiet on the night we were there but they seemed none stop with takeaways which was a good sign and the food was fantastic except for the prawn crackers which really should be just called crackers as they tasted of nothing but apart from that the meals we had were spot on.I had Kung po chicken which was as good as anywhere else I've had it and the starter of salt and chilli spare ribs were probably the best I've ever had but I only got 3 ribs which I thought was a bit on the stingy side but they were great.we stayed at treacys west country hotel and the restaurant is only a 2 minute walk away which made it perfect aswell.I'd definitely go back there if ever I'm in Ennis again

Beautiful walk around. We parked by the entrance, did the castle loop and walked back to the car and it was 7km. Lovely day out with the family, loads places to stop and relax have a picnic and enjoy the views. Well worth the visit with the family.

Long road with speed bumps down to the trailhead, but once there, worth every minute. Hard to drag yourself away. Nice long walks, take layers, boots etc. Leave nothing but footprints. Porta-loos on side of carpark at present (Feb25).

Beautiful woods with a choice of trails to follow. Scenery is amazing.

We only did the castle loop, about a mile and a half easy walking. Castle ruins right at the beginning, then a basic walk in the woods, had hoped for more variety of landscape. Perfect if you have young kids, are already near buy and need to kill time, otherwise I wouldn't make a special trip.

Nice wooded trails with lakes and an old castle ruin. Some trail maps and signage would be helpful for new visitors. Hard surface trail but watch for wet leaves in Fall/Winter.

The market boasts an array of high-quality cheese, pastries, coffee, Chai tea latte, fresh vegetables, organic plants, and captivating live Irish music. It is an ideal destination for Christmas shopping; however, it is advisable to arrive early as some stalls may have closed by the time you arrive.
Here you can find local products of Irish farmers of county clare.from potatoes to bread, fresh Irish honey raw from the hive.friendly people with smiles.they are enjoying to show thier products and when they greet you .it is almost impossible to leave without buying something. The smell of the home made muffins, cakes and brownies would tell about the freshness of them .Just looking at the bread would make you hungry.some times ther are people who sell live stock such as chickens and rabbits I got pets there for my children there are hot drinks as well such as coffee and tea. The best part of it is the locals and others can meet every Friday morning for a chat here and there you can see couples chatting when queuing to grab their fresh breakfast or buying bread for their lunch. The location is in Tulla road near the entrance from the M18 .Reslevan shopping center with plenty of parking spaces and facilities around you,you won't regret visiting this Market after dropping your kids in school. I won't forget to mention the fresh vegetables from Irish farms such as potatoes leaks carrots and other season vegetables and fruits and best ones from Clare bees and trees. Good place but the variety is less. Lack of butchers make it less appealing. Good way to support the local farmers. Mostly people use the market as a place for chit chat. Some sellers are so into talking that they forget a customer is waiting to ask/buy something.

Visitors appreciate the beautiful wood trails and the opportunity to escape the town's hustle and bustle. Families can enjoy spending quality time together in this superb natural setting.
I love bringing my dog Harry for a walk here everyday. There are lots of other dog walkers and it is perfectly safe. The dogs love it . It's so close to town but in a wood. What more could you ask for. There are lots of different routes to take and the longest one would be about 45 minutes. It is a beautiful place to get back to nature and away from the noise of the town. I would highly recommend this place if you have a dog or if you just want to go for a walk or run. There is also a sports field with track There.

It's a bit grubby. I spotted quite a lot of discarded rubbish in the hedges which I'd have happily collected if there was a bin nearby. The playground also isn't very good with most children seeming to prefer to play in the skate park instead.

Queens Hotel offers straightforward rooms and a mix of modern and old-world amenities, including a modern bar, an old-world pub, traditional Irish food, and two nightclubs. While some find the rooms dated and the layout confusing, many guests appreciate the value for money. The 41 restaurant stands out with its steampunk decor and surprisingly good food at reasonable prices.
The Queen’s hotel ticked all the boxes for us . The superb location in the heart of Ennis town was ideal and we were pleasantly surprised by the peace and tranquility especially at night but then it was mid-week . The staff were very courteous and pleasant and breakfast was A1 . Parking was very close and this hotel was homely and we definitely to return again .
Anne C — Google review
My uncle stayed at the Queen’s Hotel on August 15th. Unfortunately, he had mistakenly booked two rooms under his name over the phone without realizing it. We understand this was a simple human error, but when we tried to resolve the issue, the receptionist was completely unhelpful and dismissive. She refused to give her name, wouldn’t engage in any reasonable conversation, and acted very standoffish. It took us a couple of hours to finally convince her to call an “acting manager,” who was equally dismissive at first. Eventually, after looking into the situation further, they wrongly accused my uncle of repeatedly booking and wasting money at the hotel over the years — despite the fact that he had never even stayed in Ennis before. Only after more discussion did they admit it was a case of mistaken identity and that both parties were at fault. In the end, they agreed to charge for just one room, but the entire process was unnecessarily stressful. The receptionist’s attitude even after this was shocking. The room itself was fine, but there was roadwork and drilling outside from 6am, which ruined the stay. On top of that, the hotel takes a €150 holding deposit, and if you pay by card, it can take up to a week to get it refunded. Overall, it felt like they were trying to take advantage of my uncle until I got involved. Very disappointing experience.
Leon — Google review
Had a delightful time with friends here - staff were friendly enough, room was large, and noise wasn’t an issue as we were out as well! Loved being able to walk to four different pubs and not have to fuss about getting home. Room looked over the road and car park. Breakfast was included each morning. WiFi was not working on the side of the hotel we were on, and the shower was leaking which made a mess.
Alayna G — Google review
Room was fine, dated but clean. Asked if I could check in early, but they wanted 60e to do so. Told them I was dropping off the bag and going, but was still 60e, so i left the bag with a friend. Breakfast not sure what's going on. Porridge or granola bowl, they bring out to you. No offer of any juice. Asked for eggs and sausages, brother asked for rashers, and 2 teas. Tea came in paper cups, barely any milk, breakfast then came on 1 plate! They must have thought we were going to have a romantic breakfast or something. Waiter was surprised when I asked for a 2nd plate so we didn't have to share breakfast off 1 plate. There's been minimalist and there's having a laugh!
Jonathan G — Google review
Rooms okay, not great for the price. We booked a twin room in a quiet part of the building, on their website. Were given a double looking onto a wall. The receptionist changed us to a twin, with a night club going outside our room until around 2am. Certainly not what we reserved weeks in advance of our stay. Floor boards uneven. The location is the only good thing about our experience here.
S C — Google review
My wife and I are on our honeymoon touring around Ireland, and has originally booked with Queens hotel for our night in Ennis. We arrived a bit early as we drove in from Dingle. First a foremost, the only parking available is in a paid parking lot across the street to which you can only pay for three hours at a time. We walked into the hotel and the lady at reception came off quite rude. We asked if we could possibly check in early to which she said they only accept check in at 4, which is fair enough. She did not offer any sort of luggage storage or anything. I then asked about parking and if their is an alternative as I don't want to have to run out every 3 hours to pay for parking. She said that's all that is available. I asked about overnight parking as I don't want to have to get up constantly to go pay for more parking, to which she said "well that's what we all do so". Horrible customer service, to which my wife felt sick from the whole experience. We ended up booking a last minute room at Treacy's to which we were met with outstanding service, so much sir hat they upgraded us to the honeymoon suite at no charge. The whole experience was very upsetting, thankfully Treacy's saved the day for us.
Nicolas F — Google review
Fairly basic hotel, as others have said, the rooms have more of a hostel vibe. Stayed during storm Amy so the area was deserted, can't comment on the noise levels but there was what looked like a beer garden below our first floor window. Room was very dull, only small lights on the walls with one plug available for the 2 bedside lamps. Local parking is run by the council, had to run down for 9am to pay for a max 3 hours.
Stephen — Google review
Just ok. A hidden reception area on the first floor was staffed by friendly people who did their best to deflect from their IT issues which resulted in me being unable to get a printed receipt of my booking for the price I paid. The hotel is a bit dated looking but it was near the town center.

This is my first time in Ireland and the pub feed this establishment presents makes me never want to leave the country. As an Aussie, we know a good meal, take my word. Come for yummy food and lovely service. My brother refuses to go elsewhere, he has had the loin of bacon three nights in a row. He’ll have it again every night til our flight back to Aus next Tuesday.

The dinner of roast chicken and bacon was lovely, staff were welcoming and attentive. The only thing I fault today was the dessert, I ordered the sticky toffee pudding, when it arrived, the cream was already all melted into the sauce which was very watery, the pudding was served way too hot so ice cream and cream had all melted before I could finish the pudding, all tasted lovely tho but the texture wasn't good. My husband ordered the brownie and same thing, the brownie itself was completely melted and was like glop, nothing like a brownie being honest

Breakfast restaurant
McDonald's is a well-known fast-food chain famous for its burgers, fries, and shakes. It has been serving customers for many years with its classic menu items. The restaurant offers a breakfast menu in the morning and operates drive-thru locations in various regions. While some customers have experienced inconsistencies in service quality at different branches, others have praised specific locations for their outstanding customer service, cleanliness, and delicious food.
The lady at the window was absolutely lovely. I had the wrap and it was huge. Very tasty.

The order included the wrong sauce, there was no sauce inside the burgers, no onions, one cutlet seemed to have been chewed. usually everything is fine, but the one who collected the order today is just a *****

Guess I'll just never eat McDonald's again. Spent an hour's worth of wages on a double quarter pounder (half pounder?) meal and a side of mozzarella sticks (garlic bread sticks). While the restaurant is clearly kept clean, the food ain't great. Burger is dry throughout. I must request salt for my room temperature fries and I have to pay a premium to have sugar in my coke. Fair enough, nobody expects gourmet dining from Micky D. It's moreso the cost that has me reeling. The cost was equivalent to one hour of hard labour and was a solid 4 out of 10. So thank you McDonald's for making me reexamine my personal finances. I will no longer look to you as a cheap and cheerful solution to my hunger and instead will explore more local small businesses. Hope I can upload the pic of the 4 quids worth of mozzarella sticks with the salt packet for scale.

Everybody knows that McDonald's is meant to be the place, where customer can expect same flavours and same level of service. Well, McDonald's ENNIS is not the same! It is the best! Popped into for a quick breakfast while exploring beautiful county Clare and was pleasently surprised by how dedicated are people who work there! Breakfast was perfect and customer service was outstanding! Cleanliness of the whole place is to be proud of! Honestly, I think it is cleanest McDonald's restaurant in Ireland, and I've been to good few of them! I mean it! Clean tables, seats, floors, inside and outside of the restaurant, even lampposts are being regularly cleaned! People who work at McDonald's ENNIS, make this place different! And months later, in 2024 now it is still the same! Very friendly, tidy, clean and very professional! Great example for other brand locations within the country and beyond! Cafe
Breakfast restaurant
The Elm Café offers a tasty omelette that can be customized with a healthier salad option instead of coleslaw and chips. The service may be a bit slow due to high demand, but the wait is worth it as the food is delicious. The prices are reasonable, with an omelette, fish and chips, 2 glasses of milk, and 2 cups of coffee costing 33 units. The café has a pleasant atmosphere and friendly staff.
Amazing atmosphere very kind staff and delicious food. Highly recommended 👌will be back 🤩

Staff is extremely friendly, food is ok though not brilliant, however they upped their coffee game lately and it’s much better than it used to be. P.s. please do something about your pancakes, why are they so DRY?!

Not a good experience, I ordered a salad, made sure to just ask for lettuce and veg, dry with no dressing or anything else, when it arrived at the table it had dressing seeds and avocado(I did not ask for avocado) . I returned it and again asked for my original order, it came out covered in dressing when I asked for what I ordered was told if I returned it I would have to pay for two salads. They can't even get a basic salad right. I've eaten here before and never had this problem. Don't know if I'll go back again.

Brought my daughters for breakfast this morning and ordered a portion of pancakes for 1 and 2 potato chorizo hash for myself and my daughter. We asked for ONE extra sausage for the two hash breakfast. Our total came to €46.50 which seemed quite high so I asked for my receipt and seen that the two extra sausages had cost € 6. Absolute rip off.
