The Tempio Civico della Beata Vergine Incoronata is a hidden gem located in the heart of Lodi. This magnificent church, dating back to the late 15th century, showcases stunning Lombard Renaissance and late Baroque architecture. The exterior features captivating frescoes protected by a baroque wrought iron gate, while the interior boasts rich frescoes, sumptuous gold decorations, and a beautifully decorated octagonal dome.
Extraordinary and beautiful.

The Tempio Civico della Beata Vergine Incoronata, also known as the Sanctuary of the Incoronata, is a Catholic church in Lodi, Lombardy, Italy, and a masterpiece of Lombard Renaissance art. Origins: The temple was built starting in 1488, following reported miracles in 1487, when a fresco of the Virgin Mary on a brothel’s facade in Via Incoronata (formerly Contrada Lomellini) allegedly wept during a fight. This prompted the citizens of Lodi to construct a civic temple dedicated to the Crowned Virgin. Civic Significance: The term "Civico" (municipal) reflects its ownership by the Lodi commune, not the diocese, as it was funded and promoted by citizens and local authorities, symbolizing civic pride and devotion. Construction: Designed by Giovanni Battagio, a pupil of Bramante, construction began on May 29, 1488. Gian Giacomo Dolcebuono took over in 1489, completing the dome by 1491, and Lorenzo Maggi finished the bell tower in 1503. The facade was completed in 1879 by Alfonsino Truzzi.

(Translated by Google) The church owes its origins to some events that took place in 1400. In this point, which was called the Lomellini district, there was a tavern frequented by prostitutes, on whose external wall there was a fourteenth-century fresco depicting the Crowned Mary and baby Jesus. On 7 October 1487, according to tradition, the Madonna began to cry and perform miraculous deeds. The faithful called for the construction of a church dedicated to Marian worship. The most illustrious families of the city supported the initiative by commissioning a certain Battaglio, a pupil of Bramante, to be an architect from Lodi. The fresco of the crowned Mary was moved inside the church, to the main altar. The Renaissance architecture of the temple and the perspective of the eight niches is strongly inspired by the teachings of Bramante. The organ we see was built in 1507. Many of the works we see were painted by the Piazza family of artists from Lodi.

Centro di Lodi is a charming and historic area, reminiscent of traditional Italian city centers. The first wooden structure was surrounded by a moat, giving the impression of an island city. The square in front of the cathedral and municipal office offers a beautiful view of the Temple of the Incoronata, showcasing Lombard Renaissance architecture. Accessible by foot or bus, it's a popular meeting point with bars and restaurants where you can enjoy affordable meals while taking in the romantic atmosphere.

A splendid square that dates back to the 12th century and in which styles from all eras mix in splendid harmony, so much so that some have called it little Vienna because from the cathedral looking to the right there is a view identical to Vienna. The square surrounds the cathedral which has a splendid Romanesque style façade, from here the porticoes open which house shops, restaurants and bars. (Translated by Google) This square represents the heart of the city of Lodi. Overlooking it are the Cathedral of the Virgin of the Assumption, the Municipal Palace (Palazzo Broletto) and the Palazzo Vistarini, one of the most beautiful in the city. Since 2004 it has been included in the list of the most beautiful squares in Italy by the Italian Touring Club. Some of the columns that support the porticoes come from the old Laus Pompeia. The facades of the buildings overlooking the square have very small widths. This characteristic is due to the use of the deep but narrow "Gothic Lot", typical of all cities of medieval origin. Designed to make the most of the space overlooking the square. All the buildings have the same characteristics: The shop on the ground floor with a space covered by the portico on the front and the warehouses in the basement, the residence on the upper floor and the courtyard at the back. The paving of the square dates back to the end of the 1400s and is made with river pebbles. In the first half of the 19th century, the center of the quadrilateral was occupied by an imposing equestrian statue of Napoleon Bonaparte, erected by the French general himself to celebrate his victory in the Battle of Lodi. This square has always been at the center of city life. In the Middle Ages, capital executions, fairs and celebrations were held for the arrival of the bishops.

Al Portico Dei Pensieri is a charming establishment situated in the heart of Lodi. It offers a delightful dining experience with a diverse menu featuring well-prepared burgers, chicken and beef dishes. The desserts are equally delectable and plentiful. Although we did not sample their pizza, it appeared enticing as well. The prices are reasonable, making it an affordable option for diners. Tables and chairs decked out in Lavender Purple, they are eye catching on the famous and busy square. This place is perpetually busy, therefore we had the every right to feel smug when we snagged a very much coveted outdoor table without a reservation.😉 They were fully booked last week. The Sapore di Mare(Bianca) topped with Rucola pizza was satisfying good and a massive Beef Burger with utterly crispy chips on the side that deserves my companion's undivided attention. Service from staffs: very keen and kind.👍🏼

I would never repeat going to this place again and I would you recommend to avoid it. We have reserved a table for 6 people +1 3 years old kid. The order arrived with one hour and 10 minutes delay with two times reminding the waiter that we are expecting our meals that considered 2 pizzas, one hamburger, two salads & mix salami for the kid. Not only the food arrived later but also the quality was chapped: raw pizzas and size of the salad barely covering the dish. After calling the manager we experienced brutal & arrogant attitude like everything that happened was our fault telling us that the reason for the catastrophe was the fact that we arrived at a rush hour. Never, never again!

Caffè Nazionale is a beloved establishment for coffee enthusiasts and those with a sweet tooth. It offers an array of delectable treats such as macarons and an extensive selection of cakes. Visitors can enjoy the lively atmosphere outside, overlooking Lodi's town square, while young people particularly appreciate this spot.
19.07.22 Latest visit: After our dinner here about a month ago, I knew I would be back to try those mouthwatering pizzas. Got our tastebuds singing with a wonderful appetiser that came highly recommended by our waitstaff. Fiori di zucca farciti di ricotta, pomodori secchi e basilico spuma al mandarino. I ❤️ the Code di gamberi e zucchine pizza. This time we are lucky enough to get a table on the patio and tuck into some excellent Italian food and sweets. If you are unsure with all the amazing options, charming staffs are always happy to recommend their specials. Service: cross over from being professional into next-level hospitable 👍🏼 1st Visit: A fabulous menu with amazing choices, makes it hard for the undecided to pick just one. Seated near to the kitchen, we were extremely tempted by the countless Pizzas rolling out by the service window, they must be a favourite for many of the patrons here. Poké Bowls seem to be having their trendy moment. The most diverse ingredients are presented together in a lavishly filled bowl. It is colourful, healthy, delicious and absolutely vital for me in summer weather. I love Caffè Nazionale's version: With Venere rice as base - the textures are crunchy with salty and sweet ingredients complimenting each other perfectly. Carbonara risotto, asparagus and duck speck - portion substantial, absolutely delectable and would convert rice sceptics into risotto lovers. The salmon salad is made to share, with generous slices of the fish and topped with loads of almonds. At the bar, you will see a gorgeous display of various sweet treats❤️. They have wonderful outdoor dining, keep in mind that bookings are strongly recommended.

Ci sono diverse etichette tra cui scegliere. Aperitivo non eccezionale. Prezzi adeguati.

(Translated by Google) A wine bar in downtown Lodi with a decent selection of wines at a reasonable markup. The only downside is that they brought me a bottle of a different vintage than the one listed on the menu. If you're looking for dinner, the menu offers a few varied dishes to suit all tastes. The menu also includes some tapas for an aperitivo, but I found them too simple and homey. The bill for a full meal comes to around €30 per person, including a bottle of wine (low-to-medium range).
