Piazza Ducale in Vigevano is a stunning Renaissance-era square known for its arcades, bars, restaurants, and shops. The town is famous for its high-quality handmade shoes and historical buildings like the Castello Sforzesco and the Cathedral of Saint Ambrose. Just a 30-minute train ride from Milan, it offers a hassle-free escape with rich cultural and historical heritage.
The best Square in the world, designed by Leonardo da Vinci, it is the living room of the city. A visit to the square is mandatory

A very pretty square in the heart of Vigevano! It is very calm and was designed by Leonardo da Vinci! Very historic too!
Giovanni B — Google review
Even when we visited Vigevano in one of late September afternoons the piazza was almost deserted. It seemd that people were still on holiday and most shops were closed. It had a very calm and peaceful vibes to the town. Had a quiet stroll around the Piazza and had snacks and coffee. We enjoyed the couple of hours we had there a lot.
Pramuditha M — Google review
A few years ago I read somewhere that this was one of the most beautiful squares in the world. The numerous photos by pros and tourists testify it. Being born in Piedmont, I used to visit this quaint town quite often, appreciating its medieval cobblestone alleys, to reach the piazza Ducale and enjoy an excellent ice cream. A lot has changed, nothing stays forever, but the square has maintained its grandeur. The historical shops have disappeared in favor of expensive eateries with rude and hasty service, aiming only at you spending $ on mediocre food and drinks. Head towards the hidden, narrow streets that surround it and you’ll find small pubs and food joints with courteous and amicable service and decent prices. By the way, DO visit the Sforza castle, it’s a true medieval gem with frescos, ancient and secret gardens and horse stables. It’ll satisfy your cravings for history and well kept ancient artifacts
Veronica B — Google review
It is an incredible city😍 because it is full of monuments and place to eat and sit having the Ducale square view. It is very recommended to come at least one time.

One of many beautiful bridges I have seen in my life, but definitely not overrated. Very stunning! It's also called bridge of sighs and has an really interesting history, which is worth a google. I'm not too sure if you can actually walk over it but you dmcould view it from afar as see in the pictures or take a ride in a gondola and float along the waterways.

This is a covered walkway 167 meters long. and 7 meters wide. and overcomes a difference in height of over 10 metres. used to access the castle in complete anonymity. It connected the castle to the old fortress. It was also used to evacuate quickly in the event of an attack. The remaining frescoes are beautiful. The rings on the wall for tying the horses are still present. Also used in wartime for the transit of military vehicles. Today it is in good condition and has probably suffered more damage from vandals than time. For a detailed description of its history, please refer to other links. Very strange place, it has a good potential as a touristic place but they didn't invest and prepare enough what they have. (1) missing smiles to visitors (2) include explanations for each picture (more than just the time when Leonardo did it) (3) include English as well (everything was only in Italian (4) video Exposition requires more bright or less illumination, it was impossible to watch anything. (5) it was no explanation of the constructions prototypes at all (6) maintenance in general in the castle was veeeeery poor... Missing restores of painted walls, everything was practically in nude bricks (what it was not the original shape of the castle) It's a pity because the place can be really a nice touristic place helping to increase the economy of the village.

"L'Oca Ciuca" is a charming restaurant conveniently located near the square. The service staff may come off as a bit rough, but overall, it's a pleasant experience. The menu offers local and seasonal dishes paired with excellent wines. Signature dishes like slow-cooked goose leg and goose charcuterie are highly recommended. Despite some language barriers, the staff is extremely friendly and accommodating.
Lovely cuisine in the city centre. Very interesting and tasty dishes with duck as a main ingredient.

Great food, the service was nice and friendly however a bit slow. We had the goose cold meat platter as a starter and the saffron risotto with rabbit sausage for the main course. Both were absolutely delicious. The dessert was good but not memorable. Will gladly go back there.

Local, seasonal dishes elevated in style and paired with excellent wines. Competent and friendly staff, you can never go wrong coming here. There are some signature dishes like the slowcooked goose leg and goose charcuterie, typical of the region, that cannot be missed. My hubby had the "leg", this time I opted for a fritto misto - a mix of deep fried vegetables and meat cuts, with different batters, all where crisp and delicious. The selected cure meats were served with a crunchy gnocco fritto, and the vitello tonnato was as good as beautiful. Sweet end with peaches in sweet wine, and sorbet.

Terrible food just thrown on the plate with brown cheep wrapping paper underneath. Food was served just warm, and one person at our table got served the main meal when all four of us finished ours. When waiters were reminded about the missing plate of food, the passing ones just nodded in response. Ignorance from staff throughout the whole restaurant, including the owner. I very strongly do not recommend this eating place ( can't call it restaurant) and will ask a hotel staff to exclude it from recomended ones.

Had the most delicious meal here last night! Staff were extremely friendly despite my lack of Italian, and so helpful. The piazza itself is arguably the most beautiful in Italy. Think about Leonardo da Vinci working in Ludovico Sforza’s birthplace on numerous occasions. There are not many places in Vigevano to eat.
