Palacio de Peñaflor is a magnificent 18th-century baroque palace that has been reasonably well-preserved, with original furniture in some rooms and impressive frescoes stretching across 60 meters of its exterior walls. Although it fell into disrepair in the late 20th century, recent ongoing restoration efforts have revived its former glory, making it once again open to visitors. The palace's extensive balconies adorned with mural frescoes remain one of the city's iconic features.
Great place to visit. Beautiful interiors with lot of history. Also, the views are amazing. It's a must see place in Ecija!

The palace is absolutely beautiful and is worth a visit. But unfortunately only a very small part of it is open to public. Please take your time and watch the performance of the life “paintings”. Do not forget to go up the tower to enjoy some really beatific views of Ecija.

The Iglesia de San Juan Bautista is a must-visit for enthusiasts of the Baroque style. Its interior boasts fabulously ornate plasterwork ceilings and remarkable altarpieces, while the exterior features a stunning late 18th-century tower made of carved brick and glazed ceramic. Connected by tunnel to the synagogue in the heart of Juderia, this church offers visitors an intriguing glimpse into its history.

(Translated by Google) The Church of San Juan Bautista is located in the Plaza de San Juan, s/n. It is one of the oldest religious buildings in the city, in fact, in the latest restoration works that have been carried out in the main courtyard, remains of the old temple have been located. Its spectacular interior is surprising, which according to one of its caretakers is because in times past it was the cathedral of Écija. Its beautiful tower that presides over this imposing building deserves special mention. Perfect example of Sevillian sacred art. (Translated by Google) Considered one of the most beautiful in Écija, the first thing that stands out is the enormous wooden door with large bulls or golden metal nails that elevate your mind to the possible majesty behind them. After passing the threshold you access the remains of the three-nave temple that was designed to replace the demolished one and of which only the beginnings of the walls and part of the supports can be found. In reality, this church is the result of the union of two adjacent chapels that at the end of the 18th century survived the demolition of the original church. Here it is worth highlighting: the Sacramental Chapel, repaired in 1794, with a Latin cross with a single nave, transept, dressing room and baptismal chapel; the magnificent wooden coffered ceiling with basin tiles and Renaissance decoration of the Parish Office, where there is an 18th century canvas of the Immaculate Conception. Another element is the staircase that leads to Jesús Nazareno's dressing room, decorated with painted tiles and closed by a door with baroque ornamentation. Finally, the tower: great ornamental richness in the body of bells, and its decoration with stipes, volutes, tiles and reliefs (regionalist architecture) and dominating the air: the iron angel that serves as a finishing weather vane.

Located in the heart of the Juderia and previously linked to the synagogue via an underground passage, Casa de Sefarad is a captivating museum dedicated to the Sephardic heritage of Iberia. In close proximity lies the former mosque, housing remnants of a 13th-century church along with Arabic manuscripts. An altar crafted from an ancient sarcophagus, believed to have origins rooted in early Christianity, can also be found within this historical setting.

Iglesia de San Gil is a Gothic temple with exceptional maintenance, featuring extraordinary paintings and sculptures with great devotional significance in Ecija. July 2023. We ordered diet coke and sparkling water (2€ each, coke was 20cl). Sparkling water was not sparking at all! And was served with a slice of lemon that was drier than a brick, must have been in the fridge longer than a year... Finally, the waiter took our empty glass bottles and threw them to a public litter bin (meant for small items) where we had already seen him throw plastic water bottles from other customers.

(Translated by Google) Super delicious desserts, a bit average attention from one of the girls, I guess since it was Easter they would be overwhelmed. But in general it was super good, it was super full and the owner was super friendly, he helped us with the table, pretty good. Desserts include everything sweets, ice creams, smoothies, coffees and jugs. I ordered one and here I put the photo. 🤤🤤

Nestled in the charming town of Écija, Restaurante María Castaña offers a delightful dining experience that combines quality and affordability. Guests rave about the swift and friendly service, which complements the cozy decor that sets a relaxed atmosphere for enjoying meals. The restaurant is known for its excellent food presentation and skillfully prepared dishes, making it a highly recommended spot for both locals and travelers alike.
Excellent restaurant featuring delicious modernized tapas. We really enjoyed our late lunch there. Special mention for waiter David who was very pleasant and recommended a superb tapa based on fresh goat cheese, and also two fantastic desserts. Have a meal there and get their recommended dishes. Reasonably priced.

The food is not the star here , the rooftop views are the headliner. Not that the food is poor, in fact it is nice enough, unfortunately it just doesn't quite live up to either the menu description or the expectation generated by the fancy decor. The price is reasonable and the service is good. So I would still recommend this place but don't expect too much from the food.

We stopped by Écija on our way to Seville for some tapas. Beautiful decor, delicious tapas and friendly service. We ordered the shrimp tacos, the teriyaki chicken, batatas bravas, the tempura prawns and the guacamole as well as drinks. Quick service, lovely staff and complementary gin and tonics at the end as well as olive oil (that tasted like fried egg!) with warm bread as an appetiser. Very much enjoyed our lunch

The grill restaurant, Asador Picasso, left a lasting impression on me. It offered two varieties of meat - solomillo and secreto iberico - both of which were delicious. I was fortunate to stumble upon this gem while en route to Cordoba. The desserts were equally impressive; not overly sweet but just right. Although the prices were relatively high for a small town lunch, it's important to consider that it is a hotel restaurant, so the expense is somewhat justified.
This place really blew my mind! We had two types of meat solomillo and secreto iberico. Both were so good! We’re lucky to chance upon this place en route to Cordoba. The desserts were to die for too! Nothing too sweet, just perfect! It’s expensive for small town lunch but we also had to bear in mind that it is a hotel restaurant so still not that bad. 50 € for 2 asador meats, 2 glasses of wine, 2 desserts. Worth every cent!

(Translated by Google) Cozy restaurant with a varied menu, with great specialization in meats, from what I sense, my companions totally got it right with their beef and pork tenderloins. The Iberian assortment is very good, quality, as well as the cheeses. I ordered grilled choco with an escalibada, quantity and flavor. Average price for portions and meats by weight. I would highlight the service in the room, worthy of the best service I have received, attentive, fast, friendly and very trained in the product. Fantastic. For day 2, we recommend exploring the northeast side side of town. Start the day off with Municipal Historical Museum of Écija, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Antigua Iglesia de la Inmaculada Concepción. The Palacio de Justicia, along with other notable palaces like Palacio de los Palma and Palacio de los Pareja (municipal library), in the area is worth a detour for its stunning interior. Built in the 1920s, it showcases an impressive Muslim-inspired design. Visitors are allowed to explore the upper floors to fully appreciate this amazing architectural gem. If you're already in the vicinity, don't miss out on experiencing these captivating palaces.
Not exactly worth stopping in the town for, but if you're already walking around absolutely worth the detour! Amazingly gorgeous interior, apparently built in the 1920s in clearly a Muslim style-it was stunning to see. (Translated by Google) It is a mansion built at the beginning of the 20th century, in a "nationalist" architectural style, which tries to imitate the Andalusian legacy. According to what a tour guide informed me, the ladies who owned it had been fascinated by the Alhambra and wanted to recreate some of that beauty in their home. The image of the patio is impressive, deliciously beautiful, as are the ceilings and the staircase. The only drawback is that today it constitutes the city's Palace of Justice, so visiting hours are subject to office hours. The authorities should consider converting it into a museum to be able to have it available to travelers and visitors. Despite its recent construction, the property is not without significant aesthetic value. Its well-proportioned, well-balanced façade consists of two floors. Its main entrance, made of brick and with a lintelled opening and a curved pediment, is framed by smooth, coffered pilasters with composite capitals and topped by pinnacles that frame the central balcony. On either side of the balcony are pairs of continuous balconies with Sevillian cast iron fittings. The interior is structured around a quadrangular courtyard with a double Neo-Nazi archway supported by Granada-style columns and polylobed arches lavishly decorated in plasterwork. The arcades of the upper floor are formed by mullioned windows with fine columns. The Sevillian tile friezes and the staircase leading to the upper floor are noteworthy.

The interior boasts an 18th-century Ecijan baroque style, evident in its attractive chapels and slender brick and tile tower. This beautiful church houses numerous religious images and a wonderful chapel, making it worth a visit to admire the thousands of saints on display.

(Translated by Google) How pretty! Mainly the chapel The building dates back to the 18th century and was built on an old Mudejar temple from the 16th and 17th centuries destroyed in 1755 by the Lisbon earthquake. However, its current appearance is neoclassical in style due to its reconstructor José Álvarez. Inside, its profuse decorative work stands out, both sculptural and pictorial on altarpieces and walls, highlighting the rococo main altarpiece with the interesting panel painting of the Virgin of Antigua, from 1575; the choir stalls and two altarpieces in the right nave that house a life-size crucifix from the 16th century. This church has an important museographic collection of sacred art, such as the sacristy's drawers, the abundant and rich cult clothing, the important collection of choir books and the numerous goldsmith's objects. Next to the tacas room and the left nave, is the church patio, in whose galleries there are a set of prehistoric, Roman and Arab archaeological remains. Of interest, the pulpit that has been preserved since Saint John of Ávila preached here. On one side of the façade, the tower, which looks very similar to La Giralda in Seville. But if there is something wonderful, it is the Chapel of the Virgin of Pilar, whose image could be saved and now has one of the most beautiful spaces within the church. (Original) Queee bonita!.

(Translated by Google) Located in the heart of the city of Écija, next to the town hall, the Parish of Santa María dates back to the 18th century, having been built on the site of an old 16th and 17th-century Mudejar church damaged by the Lisbon earthquake. Its interesting archaeological collection, with artifacts from different periods and cultures, is noteworthy. The church, with a rectangular floor plan and a neoclassical feel, consists of three naves covered by groin vaults, a main chapel with a barrel vault and lunettes, and a sacramental chapel attached to the Gospel nave. The transept is covered by a dome on pendentives, lending ample light to the complex. The tower stands next to the main entrance. Clearly inspired by the Giralda, this imposing tower underwent renovations after losing its bell tower in the 1755 earthquake. The current design alternates lintels and semicircular arches with tile and oval decoration. The interior is notable for its profuse decorative work, both sculptural and pictorial, which covers the various naves and altarpieces throughout the church. Of particular note is the main altarpiece, which rises like a carved column with Rococo decoration and houses the image of the Assumption, and the interesting panel painting depicting the Virgin of La Antigua, attributed to Villegas Marmolejo. Also noteworthy is an example of funerary sculpture, made for Teresa López de Córdoba and Lope Suárez de Figueroa. The Écija Parish Museum is located in the church courtyard, where it displays a collection of prehistoric, Roman, and Arab archaeological remains. One of the most valuable pieces is the marble head of Germanicus, from the Roman period. (Translated by Google) Declared a Site of Cultural Interest. This church belonged to the convent of the Discalced Carmelite Fathers from its founding in 1591 until the confiscation of church property. In 1910, the religious order regained possession of part of the building, as the convent's outbuildings were demolished and partially adapted for the construction of the nursing home run by the Little Sisters of the Poor. The church has a Latin cross plan with a single nave, a transept, interconnecting side chapels between the buttresses, a high choir at the foot, and a presbytery with a flat end wall, behind which is the sacristy. The single nave is covered with a barrel vault with lunettes and a half-orange dome on pendentives in the transept. The church was inaugurated in 1614 and completely transformed throughout the 18th century, when rich plasterwork and mural paintings were added, giving the building a unique character. The workmanship of this plasterwork reached its peak between 1760 and 1770, featuring abundant rocaille motifs. The sculptures and woodwork, along with the 18th-century organ, make it a symbol of Ecija's Baroque.

Beautiful restaurant and very good food. Waiters very attentive and caring. They had a lot to offer which was not on the menu - like shrimps from Huelva, etc. We will definitely come again on our next visit to Ecija

The biggest problem has been the food. Face for the corresponding plate. We found bones and a hair in the stew croquettes, that's why I lowered the grade for the general service. I'd like to highlight the beautiful location and the friendly, down-to-earth, and helpful staff. A bonus is that they have local Ecija products, such as vermouth and the village tomato. Very good fried food. Highlights include the cuttlefish, the scrambled eggs with potatoes and Iberian ham, the tomato with tuna belly, and the stew croquettes. It really feels like home. Thank you very much, we'll be back! (Translated by Google) Since I personally don't like spicy food, we went to try something different. The service was very good, with pleasant waiters and not too slow despite the crowds. The food was quite good. The nachos were delicious. It's not for kids, at least mine were. The teardrop tacos are small and don't have much variety. The menu was for Easter, meaning I don't know if they have a more extensive menu outside of the holiday season. The decor is beautiful, very reminiscent of the movie Coco. The price is average. For four adults and four children, it was about €120, but keep in mind that the kids didn't eat much. So, the price was actually about the same as for four adults. I think we'll give it another try, without the kids and after the holidays.

Pizza Burger JM is a typical fast food establishment in Ecija that offers delicious pizzas and hamburgers at affordable prices. The quality of the food is exceptional, making it one of the best options in town. Customers can expect fast service and friendly staff, creating a pleasant dining experience. However, one downside is that delivery orders may sometimes take longer than expected. Despite this minor inconvenience, Pizza Burger JM remains a popular choice for those seeking tasty and reasonably priced fast food options in the area.
(Translated by Google) This is my second time at this pizzeria. It's a place with a nice terrace, good food, and good prices. I recommend it if you want to eat pizza without spending a fortune. (Translated by Google) Of shame. More than an hour and a half waiting for an order for a simple York family pizza. I call several times and he communicates, when they finally manage to pick him up, his response is that my house is a place and that there is no one there. They don't write down a number for incident cases, if I don't call, I'll stay here all night waiting. Second, when I complain to a man that a "lady" has not arrived for calling him something, from behind in a suburban style shouting, saying that this is not even home. She wasn't on the phone and you could hear her as if she were. The quality of the food is not very good, but the treatment of the staff is disastrous. They do not do their job well, which is to ask for a simple telephone number (something that is done in almost all home delivery services, whether it is food delivery or online shopping). Their service leaves a lot to be desired. Once I ordered from that same place by ear kitchen and it arrived without problems, so the problem is clear that it lies in their place, their workers and that "lady" who is the owner. There are much better options and better treatment in this town to eat this type of food. The owner should relax and do therapy or I don't know, life is two days to be bitter and loud.
