Bastione di Saint Remy is a significant structure featuring a limestone arch, pillars, terrace, and promenade for cultural events. It is located in the districts of Marina, Stampace, and Villanova. Visitors can explore various squares and outdoor areas for traditional celebrations. One can start their Cagliari tour by ascending the marble steps of Passeggiata Coperta or taking the free elevator from Piazza della Costituzione to reach Bastione San Remy.
Amazing scenery, views and a wonderful walk around here. Not too far from the port. Some fantastic history and if you have the buggy tour you can find out more as you go past which we did. Such a lovely area, we really enjoyed this start to our Italian holiday.
Beereed — Google review
This was a cool stop I walked to from the cruise port, it was uphill the entire time but the views were pretty cool. There are many stairs to get to the top, and once you get there there are several benches and some trees. Unfortunately none of the benches had shade.
Devon K — Google review
One more bastion. Built in the late 19th century on the ancient city walls. Connects the lower city to the historic Castello district. From the top, enjoy stunning panoramic views over the city, port, and sea. A perfect spot to relax and take photos.
Mykola K — Google review
It's a beautiful old structure with wonderful panoramic views of the city once you climb the elegant staircase. Just be warned it can be swarming with tourists taking Insta photos and TikTok videos which can detract from the experience. Don't forget to open your eyes and drink it all in ❤️

Nice view, you can buy umbrellas or hats from vendors there. I recommend not going in sunny weather and during the lunch hours as it is very hot.

The view is astonishing. It is very close to the city center with good restaurants and coffee houses. Free access to the top – a must-visit if you are already in Cagliari.

The Civic Market of San Benedetto is a bustling and vibrant covered food market located in Cagliari, Italy. It is renowned as the largest covered market in Italy and Europe, spanning two stories and 8,000 square meters. The market features separate departments for produce, fish, meat, and more.
We enjoyed the walk to this market and found that the stall holders were very friendly and happy for my photography to include them and their produce.
Alan W — Google review
The market moved to a different location, its still open. Prices are hit and miss, depending on the stall, produce is very fresh though. Everything seems to be local
Dabrowka K — Google review
Absolutely lovely experience! We went twice during our 5-day visit. Such a variety of fish, seafood, cheeses, sausages, fruit, vegetables, meat, salami, antipasti, bottarga, honey, jams, etc. Walking through the aisles and pick products for you lunch, dinner or snacks is a fine Sardinian experience. We loved it and also had the best coffee in our entire lives! Fishermen open up oysters for you and you can eat them right there, that's what we did. It is a must-visit while in Cagliari! 😃
Renata B — Google review
Amazing market full of fresh seafood, produce, baked goods, meat, and cheese!
Shira W — Google review
The building is closed so there’s some algeco instead. Not the best experience to stroll but very good food
Julie B — Google review
Logically organized into category sectionw and super clean with none of the blood, guts, shouts and smells that deter marketphobes in southern Europe. It's calm Sardi after all. Currently at a temporary location 200m from main market hall which is under refit.

Great place to experience the best local produce of Cagliari.

Fresh bread, fruits, vegetables, meat and great pastries, nice local market. If you want to buy bread here go early, most is sold out at 11.00 in the morning. Watch out where you buy meat because they also sell Rabbit and horsemeat.

The Museo archeologico nazionale, located within the Citadel in Cagliari, Sardinia, is a significant museum complex that offers a comprehensive exploration of the island's ancient history. The museum houses an extensive collection of archaeological exhibits, including Punic jewelry, ceramics, bronzes, and Byzantine coins. It provides a complete overview of Sardinia's history from the prehistoric era to the Roman and medieval ages.
Free on the first Sunday of every month, but would be well worth the cost of entry. It teaches the 5000+ year history of Sardinia and Cagliari very effectively. English and Italian displays throughout. They have recreated some artifacts for people to hold. They have also restored some artifacts using plain materials and glass/plastic to demonstrate where the fragments would be on a complete item, I think that is a very effective way of displaying these items and more museums should follow this approach.
Asa-Jai F — Google review
A must-visit for anyone interested in ancient history. The museum offers a well-curated journey through prehistoric to Roman times. The highlight is the impressive collection of Nuragic bronze statuettes. Also worth seeing are the Neolithic artifacts, Punic and Roman finds. It is not so big. You will need a little bit more than one and a half hours. Recommend to visit.
Mykola K — Google review
It's a well-done museum, not as big as some of the larger cities, but very comprehensive, covering prehistory up until the Middle ages. The ramps and staircases can be a little bit confusing as you start at the most ancient and hopefully end up at the most recent. Currently it is €10.
Norm Y — Google review
A lot of history in this museum, must see if you visit Cagliari. 10 eur is the price but worth the money.
Mih K — Google review
Must visit for anyone in Sardinia, to go beyond just the beaches and the food and learn a lot about the history of the island and its people. Not too big, but quite comprehensive museum with some amazing, out of this world monuments from the Nuragic period.
Ivan S — Google review
Amazing museum, if you are just a little bit curious about Sardinian history this place is must have to visit.
K. — Google review
I visited with my family the archeological site of Nora with a guided tour, so beautiful and interesting, and then we found here the ancient objects our guide was telling us about. Also, we went to the archeological site of Tharros for a lyrical concert, and again, we found here the Giants of Tharros. Highly recommended! And the neighborhood is beautiful, too! With nice restaurants and cafes nearby.
Patrizia B — Google review
Nice museum if you're interested in the history of Sardinia and the Romans. We were there with our children (ages 7 and 9), but that was not appreciated by a very rude female staff member. It was clear that this rude woman did not tolerate children. A real shame, because children are exactly the ones you can teach something about history — but unfortunately, this woman didn’t think so and made that clear by staring at us with wide eyes and constantly following us around. So, if you're going with your children, be warned. If you're not with children, then it's definitely recommended.

Catholic cathedral
Catholic church
The Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta e Santa Cecilia is a stunning 13th-century cathedral located in Cagliari, Sardinia. Originally built as a church dedicated to Santa Cecilia, it was later elevated to the rank of cathedral during the Aragonese domination. The cathedral boasts a graceful Gothic exterior and a lavish interior adorned with baroque decor. Inside, visitors can explore the vast marble pulpit and crypt containing royal tombs.
The Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta e Santa Cecilia is truly a hidden gem and an architectural marvel that left me absolutely amazed. From the moment you step inside, you are transported into a world of spiritual tranquility and artistic beauty. The cathedral’s exterior, with its classic Romanesque style, immediately captures your attention, but it’s the interior that truly takes your breath away. The play of light through the stained glass windows creates a serene and almost mystical atmosphere. Every corner is rich with detail—elaborate frescoes, intricate carvings, and a sense of sacred history that seems to whisper through the stone walls. The combination of devotion and artistry is overwhelming in the best possible way. You can sense the centuries of faith and community that have built and sustained this sacred place. The altar, dedicated to both the Virgin Mary and Saint Cecilia, is particularly moving. Saint Cecilia, the patron saint of music, adds a poetic touch to the ambiance—you almost expect to hear distant organ music resonating through the air. Whether you’re religious or not, this cathedral offers a powerful experience. It’s not just a place of worship, but a testament to human creativity and devotion. I highly recommend a visit—it’s nothing short of extraordinary.

The Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta and Santa Cecilia, often known as the Cagliari Cathedral, is a Roman Catholic cathedral in the picturesque city of Cagliari, Sardinia. Its history dates back to the thirteenth century, with building beginning in 1258 after the city was conquered by Pisa. Over the ages, the cathedral has experienced several repairs and adjustments, resulting in an intriguing mix of architectural styles such as Romanesque, Gothic, Baroque, and Neoclassical. The cathedral's main front, a magnificent example of Neoclassical architecture, was renovated in the eighteenth century. In contrast, the bell tower, a robust survival from the thirteenth century, emanates a particular Romanesque character. Admission to the cathedral is usually free, however there may be a small cost to enter particular portions, such as the martyrs' chapel. Visitors are politely asked to dress modestly when viewing the cathedral, and it is best to check about the schedule of religious services, since access may be restricted during certain hours.
Pegah E — Google review
The outside doesn’t look like much but the inside is breathtaking. It is big, highly decorated and the crypt is nice. The marble statues and pillars are incredibly beautiful. You can enter for free and give a small price for the crypt.
Thibaut — Google review
Beautiful baroque church. Please be mindful of your attire when you enter. There is a crypt under the altar that you can visit- entrance is on the left side and exit on the right. There is a shop by the left side that sells some rosaries and other stuff, very affordable and highly recommend. We parked infront of the church, just after the steps, only park if you are a small car (smart, fiat panda, hyundai i10). Otherwise, there are designated parking area or you risk blocking the road.
Tre B — Google review
If you’re in Cagliari, you shouldn’t miss the Cathedral. It’s not only a religious and historical landmark, but also a fascinating mix of architectural styles, scenic views, an atmospheric crypt, and a sense of deep history. Especially recommended for those who appreciate architecture, art, and strolling through charming old streets.
Иван М — Google review
The cathedral looks great also from outside as well from inside. Not many people inside, the entrance is free

In the historic Castello quarter of Cagliari, Italy stands the impressive Torre dell'Elefante, a 14th-century limestone tower adorned with a sculpted elephant. Closed for renovation works for some time, it has now reopened to the public. Built as part of the city's medieval defenses by the Pisans, it offers visitors memorable views over the port and sea. The tower is an important piece of medieval engineering and provides a glimpse into Cagliari's rich history.
This is a huge, impressive tower that incredibly was built in 1307. It would give you incredible views over Cagliari ... if it wasn't closed for renovation work (July 2025). Still good to look at from outside though.
David S — Google review
The Torre dell'Elefante (1307) stands on the ramparts of Cagliari (Sardinia), Italy. The tower was built during a period of Pisan domination to defend against the threat of an Aragonese invasion. The tower defended the western entrance to the Quartiere Castello of medieval Cagliari. A retractable draw gate controlled access to the medieval city from the lower town. The sculpture of an elephant to the left of the gate gave the tower its name.
David S — Google review
Very interesting structure, historic and quite mesmerizing.
Goran A — Google review
The tower is beautiful but has been temporarily closed for around 2 years, which is a pity. In 2022 was open, but from 2023 they closed it and today it’s the same. Many important tourist attractions in Cagliari are closed for some reason unfortunately..

Interesting tower with history, there are old doors left from 14 century. Could be a information desk with history about the tower

The Parco Naturale Molentargius Saline is a vast urban wetland featuring both fresh and saltwater ponds, offering a diverse array of bird species and scenic paths for visitors to explore. Spanning over 1,600 hectares, this park boasts delicate yet efficient ecosystems that support protected plant and animal species, including the iconic pink flamingos. It's highly recommended for nature enthusiasts seeking an immersive experience within its unique environment.
The park is huge, we took advantage of the tour, for which we paid 25 euros. It turned out that we were lucky and we were the only people for that hour, so we had a private tour. The guide was great, he told very interesting stories. We had access to parts that are closed to regular visitors, we were given binoculars and we could admire the flamingos through a telescope. There were thousands of them and the view of them flying above us was amazing. It is definitely worth spending this money.
Martyna R — Google review
We visited a park known for its flamingos. Be aware that there's absolutely no shade, and the walk under the sun can be quite long. You can also do the route by bike, depending on your preference. We took the shorter trail and it still took us almost two hours. I highly recommend bringing plenty of water and a hat, as there are no refreshment options along the way. The flamingos can only be seen from a distance. If we had been better prepared for the sun, it would have been a beautiful walk (or ride) along the river or canal and past salt basins. But I guess I was expecting a bit more from the experience.
Denisa B — Google review
We rented 2 push bikes for an independent tour. No guides. You can rent them for 2 hours for a nominal fee. It's free to walk. Bus tours are available. Takes you to some restricted areas. Friendly staff and helpful. Best to take water and a hat. It was warm and exposed but breezy. The office has a little coffee shop and toilet facilites. Beautiful and quite scenic. Very few Flamingos were left in the colony as they have started their migratory journey. We were lucky to have spotted a few Flamingos across the parking lot before entering the park. They were mostly white with a little toycb of flamingo 🦩 pink on their wings. We visited end of Aug. I believe best would be to go during summer. It was still worth the visit. We would go again as we enjoyed the bike ride along the scenic sea salt harvesting ponds and so many other birds and turtles etc.
The G — Google review
We were looking forward to seeing flamingos. We could see flocks on our way from the airport and expected to see many more and from smaller distance. We were seated on a small electric van with 10 seats. Each participant was given a binocular and a large one was carried and installed by our guide. Unfortunately, her English was very poor. That was surely a pity because she alternated Italian and English explanations and she passionately said so much in Italian (we couldn't understand) and very little in English. Seeing birds in binoculars was exciting. I recommend buying tickets online as on the first occasion we got here there were no places left and we had zo leave ... Still I am not sure if it was worth 25 euros/person. We drove mostly in publicly accessible places. Probably I would recommend renting bikes and binoculars.
Richard S — Google review
Flamingos!!:-)) Very kind staff, great English, you can visit for free and see flamingos, you can also rent a bike for 10€/2hours. There was also a bus / guided option i think. I did the free visit by foot which was easily walkable. And after five minutes I already saw many flamingos 🦩 🥰 great experience! Remember to bring a hat and a bottle of water if you go during the hotter season. Inside the info point there’s also a cafe with very friendly staff, coffee, coke etc and even pistachio croissants!🥐 :-) 100% recommend if you want to see flamingos in their Cagliari habitat of salinas :-)
M. B — Google review
It is really spacious area. People ride on the bikes, walk, children play football etc. I used a free car park nearby. Also there is possible to watch the flamingos 🦩 and feed donkeys 🫏
Waldek — Google review
Beautiful park, very clean and well maintained. Can be a little confusing to navigate within the park as there are few signs. Clean bathrooms and a cafe at the visitors center.
Jill B — Google review
This park is the biggest disappointment ever! Don't go there, it is waste of time and energy. Map at the entrance is very missleading. Many routes are closed and from view points you have view to bushes... There is only one point from which flamingos are visible but there are very far away. Photos here on google seem like you are going to be next to flamingo, but there were simply done with good photocamera...

Bombas is a top-notch burger joint that prides itself on using homemade bread, meats sourced from the finest island farms, and thoughtfully chosen ingredients. Established in 2014, this eatery has quickly expanded to include a location in Bologna within just five years. The menu offers an array of options along with daily specials, featuring standout dishes like the burger made with Asinara wild boar meat, pecorino cheese aged on Cannonau marc, and fresh vegetables.
One of, if not the best meal I've had during my stay in Sardina. 1000% recommend.

Had to check it out after reading the recommendations and was blown away. The Burger's are made with love and taste fantastic. The Tiramisu without coffee as dessert was a great finish. Was worth waiting although it's better to reserve a table. Staff were very nice. The prices are overly fair.

We've found the place by accident and went in because of the interesting and unusual interior and ruins inside. The atmosphere is fantastic. All good was fresh and made with local ingredients. Definitely a great random find on the first day in Cagliari.
Maciek G — Google review
Very nice local place! They have a very good selection of burgers, representing sardinian cuisine. You should also order patatine fritte and fried culurgiones! Patatine fritte, which was done in a particular way, was sliced very thin and cooked like chips. It came with bombas sauce and another sauce with truffe. Culurgiones come as 4 pieces. It has 3 different filling options, we chose the first one. Very delicious! Definitely recommending. For burger, we ordered Bue Rosso, a meat from a specific part I believe, as explained in the menu and Gavino which had sheep meat. Burgers are quite big with 160gr or 180 gr meat depending on the selection. The interior is also amazing, you go in and it leaves you impressed with its historical, cave-like features. The owners and workers are super nice! Very lovely. We enjoyed so much our dinner here and I highly recommend to anyone visiting Cagliari! It is a must! 🫶🏻

What an unexpected burger feast!!! Ask for special burgers that are not on the menu - extremely well fit of unusual tastes and the best ingredients! Totally worth and BRAVO for the team! Service was so warm and welcoming, it is like a cherry on a cake - best of luck for you guys at the Bombas!

Beautiful venue, superb burgers, we ate in Bombas tonight, we are visiting from the UK and stumbled across the restaurant after visiting the castle/cathedral, I had a chicken burger and my wife had a plain beef burger, she said it was the best piece of meat she has had in a long time!! The food was cooked to perfection, the wine was lovely, it was perfect. Thank you.

I was a little uncertain about going to a burger restaurant on a trip to Italy, but man these are no ordinary burgers! They are a creative twist on Sardinian meatballs and one of the most delicious things I've eaten. The staff was super friendly and welcoming - the place just had a great happy atmosphere that complimented the food very well.

Absolutely wonderful experience! The staff are incredibly friendly, the food is fantastic, and the atmosphere is simply stunning. A true must-visit when in Cagliari! Just a small note for visitors: while card payments are accepted, tipping can only be done in cash. It’s not expected, but after such an amazing time, you’ll probably want to! So bring a bit of cash along — everything here is so lovely and worth it 😊💚

CUCINA.eat is a modern bistro and kitchen shop opened in 2013 by Alessandra Meddi and Giuseppe Carrus. It's not just a restaurant, but also a place to shop for kitchen tools and gourmet products. The menu changes daily based on fresh, local ingredients from the San Benedetto market. The restaurant offers a variety of dishes including soups, sandwiches, and traditional specialties with creative twists.
Cucina EAT offers an exceptional dining experience with its warm, attentive service and impressive wine expertise. The staff's knowledge of regional wines is remarkable, and their recommendations perfectly complement the flavorful dishes. Every dish we ordered was delectable.

The restaurant was closed on Sunday and Monday so we ended up having lunch on Tuesday, just before we left and we were glad that we did. All the dishes we ordered were very balanced, the tiramisu was so fresh. We appreciated the varied wine selection by the glass. Next time I visit Cagliari, I'll definitely make a dinner reservation.

We came across this restaurant just searching for a place nearby to have dinner, and it was amazing! They have a changing menu according to their daily market finds. Food was very tasty! Wine was super good, helpful and kind staff. We had Tartar and bread and sardines for starters and local pasta with fish and beef cheek and mashed potatoes, and of course tiramisu for dessert. Amazing! Definitely recommended!! We didn’t know that it’s on Michelin guide but it is!

I had read about the restaurant on the Michelin Guide and reserved a table for 10 friday evening. The service, wine-selection and food was excellent. We shared 8 starters and each of us had a main course and a dessert. Try this place when you are in Cagliari… Love from Denmark🇩🇰

If you can give less than five stars, who are you?!?! This was one of the most amazing evenings we’ve had in Italy. The service was amazing and the food, spectacular. If you are a wine lover like us, come on the weekends to ask for Federico, a knowledgeable wine maker himself, treated us to a variety of local wines by the glass and paired options with our dishes. You must come if you are in Cagliari and order the whole menu (40 euros, it’s a steal and worth it!). ❤️❤️❤️

Pizza delivery
Pizza restaurant
Pizzeria Grains Cagliari is a trendy restaurant located in the heart of Cagliari, offering a modern twist on traditional pizza. The relaxed atmosphere, with its vaulted, exposed-brick ceiling and sidewalk tables, provides the perfect setting to enjoy their wide selection of artisanal pizzas. From classic Margherita to adventurous options like the Grains Special topped with smoked salmon and avocado, each pizza offers a burst of unique flavors.
We immediately felt at home thanks to the warm and welcoming staff, who provided excellent recommendations on what dishes to try and accommodate all of our preferences. The pizza was outstanding, among the best I've eaten and well paired with a selection of top beers. It was so good that we took 3 more pizzas to go. All of this came at a very reasonable price. I highly recommend this place, but come at opening because it gets busy really fast and the inside doesn't have many seats.

Tiny pizza spot with super-friendly staff (we had nice chats with the owner - english speaking - and his mother, who was enjoying a pizza too and really wanted to share it with our dog 😅). The vegan pizza with fried potato, artichoke cream, rosemary and pesto was super-yummy, the dough fluffy just how I like it! Unfortunately they only have single use plastic cups, cutlery and plates 🙁 Therefore we avoided using cups and cutlery, but had to use the paper-plates. Nevertheless really recommend this place, also for take away / delivery!

Great dough and toppings options, including vegetarian, seafood and dough made with chickpeas! Everything looks sustainable/ recyclable including their plate and cutlery which is great! The restaurant is small yet cozy. The staff is very welcoming and friendly. They also have menu in English, if you need it!

Amazing pizza! Easily one of the best pizzas I‘ve ever had. Mine had guanciale, pecorino and red pesto on it - so so good. Local beer other than Ichnusa as well. Go try it out! 😋 Very welcoming service as well :)

Wow! Don’t hesitate , just try their pizzas out!! The place is small but really cozy , the service is super quick and the flavours are top notch

The food is so good. The best food we ate since we landed. I higly recommend. And the owner is realy nice!
Natalija Ž — Google review
You'd easily walk past this place, it's a small pizza takeaway with a few seats like hundreds of others around here, but you'd miss out on the amazingly good 48hr sourdough pizzas with local ingredients (mine was some kind of sheep sausage and blue cheese) and the fridge with Sardinian craft beer! They have a bigger place about 5km away with beer on tap but that's not happening this time, so I made do with this and really glad I did! Guy serving was chatty and knew about the beers and where they were from plus recommended a great pizza, very happy all round with Grains!

For day 2, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Giardini Pubblici. Not quite as popular as Poetto, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 8 hours.

Park
Giardini Pubblici, also known as Public Gardens, is a serene park in Cagliari that dates back to the 19th century. Spanning 17,000 square meters, this historic park features French-style gardens with tree-lined avenues ideal for leisurely strolls. The well-manicured lawns and flowerbeds add to its charm. Additionally, the park houses the Municipal Art Gallery and various sculptures that complement its natural beauty.
Coziest little park wirh a giant, majestic tree in the middle, lots of cats and cat houses. Lots of benches, great view... It's great.
Niya V — Google review
Small but well-maintained park with many resting places. A huge plus is the space designated for houses for stray cats, where people can come to feed and take care of them. It's wonderful that the city allows such initiatives and provides some space for animals in need

I parked here and explored Inglesias - wonderful town with cathedral , Musik playing while you are walking along the narrow street , nice restaurants and coffee places and a relaxed atmosphere

I loved this place. The views, the statuary…the greenery….quiet, peaceful, be sure to check out the climbing wall… and the views……explore and be sure to view things from different angles
Joseph G — Google review
Prepare to be mesmerized by the captivating beauty of Giardini Pubblici, Cagliari's pristine public garden! These well-manicured gardens are a breath of fresh air in the city, and what truly sets them apart is their graffiti-free surroundings – a rare find in urban public spaces. Upon entering the northwest corner of the gardens, you'll be greeted by the Galleria Comunale d'Arte, a small but charming fountain, and a collection of fascinating sculptures. As you wander deeper into the gardens, you'll encounter an array of stunning roses and various other flower species that create a truly enchanting atmosphere. The absolute highlight for me was the awe-inspiring magnolia tree, which is easily one of the largest I've ever seen. Its majestic presence is impossible to miss, and it adds an extra touch of magic to the gardens. The views from Giardini Pubblici are nothing short of spectacular. Overlooking the city, this vantage point offers stunning photo opportunities both day and night. The gardens are open from 6 AM until midnight, allowing you ample time to soak in the breathtaking scenery. For those with a taste for adventure, the southeast corner of the park is home to S'Avanzada Climbing Cagliari. This fantastic facility offers rock climbing walls for enthusiasts, making it the perfect place to challenge yourself and embrace your inner daredevil. Giardini Pubblici is an absolute gem in the heart of Cagliari. Its enchanting gardens, incredible views, and unique attractions make it a must-visit destination for both locals and visitors alike. Don't miss out on this unforgettable experience – you'll be glad you came!

Gardens with centuries-old trees, lots of greenery and lots of flowers. There's access for the disabled. There's a kiosk serving snacks, drinks and beverages, a bathroom suitable for disabled people at the entrance, many benches to stop and enjoy a bit of tranquility and a beautiful view of the city of Cagliari. It's a place suitable for children, the elderly and any age group.
Momo — Google review
Very beautiful garden, with nice plants such as a couple of giant ficus trees! I recommend it for a walk or to take a break on one of the benches. There are also a lot of cats and you can see their little houses and people that take care of them. At one end there is a climbing wall area, which seems pretty nice!

Nestled in the heart of Cagliari, the Basilica di San Saturnino is a remarkable testament to early Christian architecture, dating back to the 5th century. This stunning church features an impressive domed roof and apse that tower majestically above its surroundings. Dedicated to Saint Saturninus, the city's patron saint who met his martyrdom during Diocletian's reign, this basilica offers visitors a glimpse into the rich history of Christianity in Sardinia.
A church of the 6th century built on ancient ruins and a necropolis. Small site but worth the visits. San Saturnino is the patron saint of Cagliari

Beautiful old church with a free entry. There is also an archeological site to see near the church. I recommend this attraction to every tourist!
Vlad M — Google review
It is very simple, but it has a certain charm and I loved the contrast against the overly decorated, gold-plated churches you normally see in Italy. It felt very spiritual, is fascinating in its ancient history and has a beautifully minimalist interior.

The Basilica of San Saturnino dates back to the 6th century AD, but according to the experts it probably still existed in the 5th century. Saturnino would have been beheaded in 304 because he didn't deny his Christian faith. San Saturnino is also the patron Saint of Cagliari.

Located on a hill southeast of the city, Santuario di Nostra Signora di Bonaria is a revered religious complex with a storied history. The sanctuary houses a venerated statue of the Virgin Mary and Christ, which is said to have miraculously saved a shipwrecked crew during a storm in 1307.
Very nice place with a shocking story behind it and that’s where the name of the church is coming from .

Beautiful church, but be aware, as in the rest of Sardegna, opening hours often differ between reality and what's been published online.

Stunning church and lovely guarden in the back with stunning view.. but keep in mind that—like much things in Sardinia—the opening hours don’t always match what you’ll find online.
Alvesin — Google review
The origins of this church date back to 1324 in order to offer spiritual assistance to soldiers engaged in the siege of the city. The statue of Virgin Mary is housed in the splendid sanctuary (City Tour Cagliari). The driver of the tour bus was nice enough to slow down so we, tourists can take a good shot of the church.

Seafood restaurant
Restaurant
Stella Marina Di Montecristo is a renowned restaurant in Cagliari, Sardinia, offering an authentic and delightful seafood dining experience. Despite being Michelin-starred, it provides classic Sardinian dishes without the hefty price tag. The fixed lunch menu offers three courses of delectable seafood options. For a refreshing waterside drink, visitors can head to Emerson or La Paillote, both owned by former Cagliari star Francois Modesto.
We had a great experience here. The seafood held a high standard and the way we were served food was fun. I especially liked the starter platter and the fregola. The restaurant is quite hidden and it feels a bit like stepping into someone’s living room, in a good way!
Alexandra J — Google review
I really recommend this restaurant, last week when my best friend came here, we took her to this restaurant for lunch, she said it’s the BEST FISH that she ever had, and that she didn’t know you can make fish this good. They have a fixed menu, so even if you don’t understand Italian or know how to order, it’s okay. It was a weekday, but still kind of packed, so I recommend you to book it in advance. We will definitely come again.
Bing G — Google review
Amazing seafood in a cozy environment. The owner was so friendly. The food was delicious. A definite must
Andreas A — Google review
I feel that this place is just inaccessible or they are totally not open to foreigners/non Italian speakers. Even though I came early, they said they are fully booked, I tried calling them several times on the number provided, no one picks up, so it’s almost impossible to make a reservation. I also tried to reserve via Whatsapp, which didn’t work, even in low season. I feel there are way too many better places in Cagliari with excellent customer service and fresh seafood ;) No luck here.
Viktorija B — Google review
Great food and experience. As expected from other reviews no choice on menu except wine/red wine and aqua con gas or not. Everyone gets the same thing (except if you are 3 years old). The lace looked closed when we got there, a bit dark. My wife was very skeptical until the first course arrived. Was full of people when we left. Use what's app to get reservation.
David H — Google review
These star ratings do not express how excellent this place is!!!! We had dinner last night there, booked by a dear friend of ours. From start to finish, it was hands down a 1 of a kind experience. Especially for fish, seafood lovers.. 😋. 1stly, it is not a buffet, and it is not a la carte. We had a 'chef created' 4 course range. Fully loaded with all sorts of deliciousness 😋 . The shrine created for the much loved late Gigi Riva is so sweet and soulful. The owner and the waiter are very professional yet warm. The passion for their local produce is encouraging. I would highly recommend it for excellent food, customer service, and soulfulness all at excellent prices!!
Michkah F — Google review
An overall charming experience. This place is like going back in time. The only dining option is a fixed menu for €35 per person, whether you go at lunch or dinner. The fixed menu removes any pressure for people who have a hard time choosing (like me 😅) or who suffer from FOMO. It varies a bit based on what fish they get that day, but we had: mixed seafood antipasti, fregula with chrevette, and as the last course sea bass and fried calamari. All this was accompanied by water, wine, bread, and some shots of mirto to cap it off. All the seafood was super fresh. Any criticisms of the food were minor and very subjective: a bit more salt here, a bit less breading there. I’d definitely recommend it for anyone who likes seafood. The restaurant is a dark windowless room whose theme can best be described as “soccer and sea,” and which feels highly authentic compared to the newer more modern restaurants in Cagliari. The owner and waiter were both very nice, with the owner coming to the table after each course to ask how everything was. How a restaurant should be! Definitely reserve. We stopped by on a Saturday night to reserve for Monday lunch.
Kate S — Google review
Best quality for price in town. This place is genuine and food is delicious. It’s like traveling back in time to a dimension of authenticity, extremely fresh food and uncompromising hospitality. We had a full 4 course menu comprised of a large antipasto di mare, fregola with shrimps, fried and grilled fish, fruit wine. Giacomo the owner comes in the end with free shots of mirto :) Make sure to reserve in advance - go in person or send and sms if you don’t manage by phone - and be ready to eat a lot of good food for a ridiculously low price.

Outdoor Activities
Swimming & fishing in bright, clear water, plus hillside paths through Mediterranean woodlands.
I wish I can give this sandy beach more than a 5. Very beautiful view from above, easy to reach by bus just 5 minute walk from bus stop. Can access it either by a short easy walk through the path that is next to car parking area or by walking through the woods, shallow and safe you can walk in the water for long distances, pebbles on the shore and rocks on the sides but all sandy in the water, calm water everytime it would be windy in other areas this is the calmest, crystal clear waters, nature is still wild and no buildings on or around the shore, little cafe right on the path to the beach, toilets available.
Sa A — Google review
Very beautiful beach and calm waters, great for kids. There were little fish swimming around as well, the water is so clear. It does get very busy during high season (visited last week of June), and parking is limited along the road mostly so get here before 10am. But like others have said, it’s mostly a rocky beach which might not be for everyone. Bringing beach chairs would help. Be ware as there are no facilities like many beaches in Sardinia, the only washroom/toilet available is affiliated with the beach bar/umbrella and sun lounger rental, and they are charging 2 euros for each toilet use.
Janice Y — Google review
We stayed here today (21.8. about 17:00) from the trip from Cagliari. There were only a few parking places free along the road. To the beach is up to 5 minutes. At this time there were enough people but we found the place. Beach is stony, also at the beginning of the see are stones, after cca 3-4 metres is sand. Water shoes are recommended. I did not see almost any fish.

Absolutely stunning. One of the best beaches I’ve ever visited in Europe — top top top top top! Crystal-clear turquoise water, a breathtaking natural setting, and a peaceful vibe all around. The cove shape provides great shelter from the wind — we went on a windy day and barely noticed it! Very easy access, with parking nearby, and right at the entrance there’s a super cute and convenient café/snack bar — perfect for a cold drink, ice cream, or quick bite without leaving the beach. You can also rent umbrellas, which is ideal if you’re planning to spend the whole afternoon there. Highly recommended. If you’re anywhere near Cagliari or Quartu Sant’Elena, this beach is a must!

Beautiful beach. To relax, to swim, to snorkle, to dive. This place is popular and a good time to be here & to be lucky with a shady parking slot is around 10-11 in the morning. Also good parking for motor bikes and vans:) Beautiful, chrystal clear water & everybody tries to keep it clean. Hotel ideally located because 200 meters from the beach, with direct access. Then 6 kilometers from the city, Sciacca, with bus stop in front of the hotel. Panoramic view of the exceptional sea. All staff (reception-bar-animators and cleaning agents) very friendly and attentive to the customer. Bilingual staff in French! (important positive point) Varied food so everyone finds his account in general. However I recommend 3 major changes to the management of this hotel: - The coffee at the bar, is not worthy of Italy, in my opinion it is unacceptable to drink this kind of coffee in Sicily! The coffee is good only at the pool !!! Change your machine as fast as possible! - Prohibit locals from squatting beach chairs at the beach as they are normally reserved for hotel guests. It is unacceptable not to find a place to settle on the beach. - Involve a specialized company to find and destroy the nest of wasps and hornets along the terrace, so that customers can take their meals serenely. – Make an effort on the quality of the wine! I Thank all the staff for their kindness and professionalism. Personale bilingue in francese!

I love this little beach. It gets crowded during the summer. I use to go here to climb up to the devil's saddle or access to the light house. If you climb on the light house you can enjoy the sight of the city and the sea view. There's a road before the beach side that goes up to the lighthouse. Amazing scenario at night

Spiaggia di Is Mortorius

4.3
(754)
Spiaggia di Is Mortorius is a unique destination located near Capitana, featuring the ruins of an old fishermen village and the former military battery Carlo Faldi, which served as an anti-naval outpost. The beach is easily accessible via county road 17 towards Cagliari and offers free parking. While the beach consists of stones rather than sand, its crystal-clear waters make it ideal for snorkeling.
The best: empty beach. Not a lot of tourists here. Bring your acqua shoes because it's rocky. This beach is reachable by public transport without even have to walk.

Aaron C — Google review
This beach is located directly on a road. You don't have to pay anything for the parking spaces and it is only a few metres to the beach. The beach is made of stones, not sand. Although we were there in the high season and it was in the middle of the afternoon, there were very few people there. The water is crystal clear. Because the water is so clear, one can also see very well underwater, for example for snorkeling. The seabed is mostly covered with stones and not sand. Apart from these stones there is unfortunately very little to see underwater. A few fish cavort between the stones, but you can't see much beyond these stones. All in all a quiet and cosy beach with clear water. Very good to relax in peace. For snorkeling rather uninteresting. To recommend.

Marina di Capitana

Marina
Marina di Capitana is a charming destination that beautifully blends history and modern comforts. Nestled near several nuragic sites, including the well-preserved Nuraghe Diana, it offers visitors a glimpse into ancient Sardinian culture. The area boasts excellent dining options with stunning views of the marina, especially during sunset, making it an ideal spot for evening strolls after dinner. Guests rave about the friendly staff and exceptional service at local hotels where rooms are meticulously cleaned daily.
Small but very well built. Check the entrance to avoid shallow water on port side. Nice and clean. Very near to Villasimius.

The marina is very well protected, with responsive and friendly staff. The ormeggiatori are excellent and extremely helpful. The sanitary facilities and showers are clean and maintained. Just an 8-minute walk from the marina, there's a well-stocked supermarket (Coop).

Excellent facility for sailors with all freshly renovated bathrooms, showers and washing/drier machines. Available restaurant, bar and free parking.

Nice and quiet. Friendly staff. Wall must have had an earthquake or very severe weather. It came down...

Comfortable and clean bar. Few tables and couches. A fresh point in the summer very close to the sea. The terrace could be more useful, anyway is very helpful like watching area standing up or walking around.

Victory by Lord Nelson - Ristorante di Pesce in Cagliari, located near the picturesque Marina Capitana, offers a delightful dining experience that captures the essence of Sardinian cuisine. Upon arrival, guests are welcomed warmly, with attentive hosts ensuring a pleasant atmosphere enhanced by soft live music and stunning views of boats under the moonlight. The wine selection is impressive; even if initial choices don't hit the mark, staff are eager to provide alternatives until you find something perfect to pair with your meal.
The best lunch I had in Sardinia. Octopus carpaccio with paprika potatoes, chickpeas and capers. It was delicious the octopus was beautifully prepared and marinated. Nice bread and side salad and the olive oil and balsamic was decent. I wish I could’ve had another meal here. €44 (3x spritz, aqua, octopus, salad and cover charge) no it’s not the cheapest but it is worth it. Pretty empty but it’s out of season. The menu here looks fabulous and the server was kind.

We had a great & tasty dinner here, all fresh and full of flavours, definitely recommend visiting as it was in our top 5 food experience in Sardinia
Rafal N — Google review
Great (sea)food quality. Prices are reasonable, considering the freshness and quality of the meal. Staff was a bit confused (three orders/ three times wrong drinks). But very friendly and helpful as well. Nice experience. We had oysters/ tonno tartar for starters and the lobster and fried seafood plates as main course

Arrived to find that no nice table had been reserved for me as I was coming alone perhaps. The host saw my disappointment and gave me a nice table . Nice unobtrusive live music, the moon and boats completed the atmosphere. The best part was the wine selection! I didn’t see any wine I knew so I chose 2 to taste. Didn’t love them do the host brought me two more closer to my taste and I had one very nice one with my meal. The vongole was good but not the best I had. I agree with a previous view that the chef can do better! Anyway it’s a great and only option for those staying at the Sighientu where the only options are a buffet or pizza!

Italy is my second home. This was my first time in Sardinia, and after four nights, we decided to treat ourselves to a dining experience at the harbour’s Victory by Lord Nelson restaurant. Never in a million years would I have predicted the terrible experience we were about to have. Firstly, I feel as if my partner and I were profiled, which is a shame because we genuinely looked forward to eating here. Our starters were very promising—10/10—but after that, everything went downhill. The mains arrived 40 minutes after our starters, and we had to get up twice to ask for them because every other table that arrived after us was served before us. We also had to request salt and pepper because the condiments weren’t already on the table. To top it off, when it was time to leave, there was no waiter in sight, so my partner had to go inside to pay. Mind you, while we were still waiting for our mains, the waiter who eventually brought them actually told us to complain to the manager about how long we’d been kept waiting. Anyway, we paid our bill inside with the restaurant owner or manager, and my partner expressed our frustrations. Shortly after, one of the runners approached us, claiming we hadn’t paid. I told them we had, but they still sent security to chase us down—only for them to return a few minutes later confirming that, indeed, we had paid inside to the owner or manager. No apology. Nothing. What a terrible way to end what started off as a lovely holiday.

Forgot my Lamb chops so I finished my wife's food then tried charging us for the lamb! Waiters were great.

The Victory restaurant and bar is next to the Sighientu Resort Hotel in the Marina (south Sardinia) . We had a fabulous lunch in the cool and shade on a very hot day. Lunch was delicious (veg options available/ fresh seafood and local dishes ) and we had some lovely wine. The staff were amazing, very friendly with great and fast service. We had a very relaxed and delicious lunch - highly recommended!

I like their vermentino by glass, smell like a moscate but dry, The menu is very typical sardinian with lots of seafood, and they have a lot of fish tartare, so good for hot weather, we didn't try it though. It's not just a sitdown estaurant, bu also a gelateria and breakfast cafetaria. It's located right on the edge of the Marina Capitana, good location. They have 2 street cats strolling around some times quite cute.

The lido Is Canaleddus offers a fantastic experience with its well-organized and paid parking facilities. The bar is beautifully designed and serves enjoyable drinks, showcasing traditional Sardinian charm. In the evenings, guests can indulge in delicious dinners accompanied by lively live music. The famous 'Maialino' dish stands out as a highlight of the menu. The pristine beaches are clean, equipped with rental beds and umbrellas, albeit slightly expensive for the area.
Private place, you need to pay 5€ for entry and parking. Perfect to have lunch and a relax evening.

Quite beach. With all services needed. Be ready for through stone entry but sand is right after.

It was really quiet the last days of August, that was really nice. For snorkling it is better to go in the mornings. Winds and waves are more strong in the afternoon.
Steven B — Google review
Beautiful area with beautiful sea ( rocks )and a lot of open space for walks as well behind the beach . Just be careful to watch out for snakes.

I ordered " Culurgiones with Tomato sauce/Butter and Sage" and the food was not warm enough and it was not worth the price and the quality was so low. There were A LOT OF BEES in the restaurant which was TOO ANNOYING and I almost wanted to cry. We paid 5€ for the parking and at the end we had a very low quality lunch and also an uncomfortable and not beautiful beach. I will never suggest this place to anyone...
Sogand — Google review
Wonderful location and excellent food at reasonable price, accompanied by friendly hosts. Advice it to all

Privatized beach by blocking any entry way for non customers

We had such a great time here! Well organized parking space (payed), beautiful bar with friendly service (fun and typical Sardinian). In the evening we stayed late for a dinner with friends. There was live music and the famous 'Maialino' was pretty good as well. The beaches are clean and equipped with beds and umbrellas (rent is a bit high, but not exceptional for the area). It is a cool place with bathrooms and showers. Also kids have a great time here. The combination of forest (pineta) and beach make it diverse and adventurous for them (and for adults). We visited end of July and the place was quiet with few people, also during weekends. Dogs are also allowed on a dedicated section of the beach!
