Wonderful new art galleries

Few nice shops in pescod Square. The new post office is here now and Costa Coffee if you fancy a lovely drink. There are other shops worth a look.

We were in the area visiting the RSPB reserves and Only visited here as we are Mr and Mrs Pescod! , not sure if we are related, but we were intrigued. Also looked at Pescod hall from the outside. There was no other reason for going, oh except to look at the largest church steeple, I believe, in England., beautiful looking church but couldn't enter it, even on a Sunday! I could see that Boston used to be an affluent area with lots of history but the council don't seem to be making the most of it 😔, it was a Sunday afternoon... And To be honest I didn't feel very comfortable walking around- can't put my finger on it 🤔. There was a lovely looking windmill we would have gone in if it was open. Also the SWAN building, which was once the Fogatory feather factory looked very grand and interesting but I believe it has been converted to housing?

Good selection of shops to suit everyone. Seems to be busy with shoppers most days, especially more so in the summer. Always clean and tidy with parking close by.

The War Memorial in Boston is an essential stop for anyone visiting the town center. This poignant site features numerous plaques commemorating various campaigns and honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice. It offers a serene space for reflection, complete with seating areas and nearby amenities like Shepards Bakery, making it a perfect spot to pause after exploring local shops. The memorial is well-maintained by the local council, ensuring a clean and inviting atmosphere, especially at night when it's beautifully lit.
Lovely location within walking distance of shops, to take a moment and reflect on the events of the past.

Good place for reflection seating area with shepards bakery nearby and rubbish bins nearby for disposal very rarely troubled by other people well attended to by the local council

For anyone who has not seen the war memorial in the town centre it is a must see. There are so many plaques remembering so many campaigns etc. A definite place to visit and remember the sacrifices made

Maud Foster Mill, located in Boston, is a prominent landmark and one of the tallest operating windmills in the UK. Standing at almost 25 meters high with seven storeys, this majestic five-sailed structure dates back to 1819 and sits alongside the Maud Foster Drain. Originally used for transporting corn and flour, it was built for the Reckitt brothers, millers and bakers.
Lovely piece of working history just outside Boston town centre. A semi-working mill that grinds its own flour that you can buy in its shop. You may choose to pay to venture up and around the mill or simply buy local produce in its shop. The view from the middle floor is worth the admission in itself. The highly informative operators are on hand to educate you about the workings of the mill. The mill has its own fairly large car park.
Helen B — Google review
Although we didn't go up the mill, we did buy flour and some jams that they sold. The proprietor is very open and friendly. We enjoyed a good conversation around mills and milling heritage. Thanks!
Richard G — Google review
You won't find many like it!! One of the tallest working mills in England. It is very well looked after by two of the loveliest people you can meet. James and Richard work tirelessly to keep the mill running and still producing flour. We were very lucky to have the opportunity to not just visit the mill, but to lodge in one of the little houses by the mill. Richard showed us inside the mill, and told us the history of it. It is very interesting to find out how this mill still keeps on working, and also the struggles they face to maintain it running.
Miren — Google review
Entry is £4 per person and the visit turned out to be more of an adventure than expected. There are several floors to explore, each getting smaller as you ascend, and reaching the top feels like an achievement. A break halfway up on the outside balcony was a lovely touch with great views. Inside the mill is very floury and cobwebbed — expect to get a bit dusty! The steep steps mean suitable shoes are a must. Children aren’t allowed inside, which makes sense given the many gaps and drop points. The owner was very informative, providing us with details and a handout, though there are no signs inside as it’s still a working mill. At the end you can buy flour or souvenirs from the shop. Handy parking is available right out front.
Alice I — Google review
Excellent mill visit, worth climbing the ladders to the top, and seeing how the mill works. Also an opportunity to buy the grain milled on site.
Jill S — Google review
Great look in to the traditional flour mill process, would highly recommend & have a chat with the owners very knowledgeable and keen to keep it all going.

What an absolute treat! A beautiful windmill and so very interesting being able to study the mechanism and workings out. And very reasonably priced flour etc in the shop. I can’t wait to try my porridge oats 😁

Maud Foster Mill, located in the charming town of Boston, Lincolnshire, is a remarkable testament to the area's milling heritage. This fully operational, five-sailed windmill offers visitors a captivating journey back in time, showcasing the beauty and ingenuity of traditional windmill craftsmanship. Maud Foster Mill also houses a charming tearoom, where visitors can indulge in delicious homemade treats and enjoy a well-deserved break. The tearoom's cozy atmosphere and friendly service complemented the overall experience, providing a delightful spot to relax and soak in the mill's ambiance. It's worth noting that the mill's operational schedule may vary, as it is dependent on wind conditions. However, even if the sails are not turning, the knowledgeable volunteers are always available to provide informative tours and share the mill's history, ensuring an enriching experience regardless of the wind conditions. Parking: roadside parking Toilets: on-site

prices and other bits aint that bad, but such crappy people working behind counter what a waste of time for the customer.., i buy there quite often and 1 out of 3 times i bring home on some of my clothes that small bit that prevents clothes from stealing.., i havent got that much time to keep coming back and ask them to remove it, its their job to look for it.., im tired of this already.., have happened that i lost my receipt and the bag of clothes wasnt opened for quite a few days because of work and other reasons so when i opened i found the bit on my sweater.., man wth this is so so frustrating..

Nice sized store, good layout. Staff are lovely. However - Matalan, put your tightfisted hand in your wallet and put fans or air-conditioning in. It wasn't even a hot-hot day when I visited and I was sweating in there. Your poor staff deserve better than working in that!

As usual for Matalan, helpfull colleagues. Glad they've introduced self scanning. But wasn't too busy, but usual quality items and good selection

I visited the Boston store today to get my granddaughter some sandals, found some lovely white ones and took them to the counter to pay.The lady asked me if I was paying card I said no cash, she then directed me to the end till as she said it was the only one to take cash I must add there is at least 6 tills! When she went to scan the item she then remembered the scanner didn’t work,no attempt to type in the barcode just basically I can’t serve you as this is the only till taking cash and it’s not working! What I don’t understand is why the other tills didn’t take cash?? As a retail manager of 15 years I find this absolutely ridiculous! Surely all tills should take cash? And be set up at the beginning of trade for this? I left the store empty handed, this was obviously a big sale but I find this completely unacceptable and the lack of customer service with it was also unacceptable! The lady couldn’t care that a sale had been lost or the fact she couldn’t serve me.

Recently started using Matalan again..... Had be using tesco or asda for clothing, but was getting fed up of limited size range for my body type, sad to say now in xxxl size..... But jeez trying to find waist size above 40inch is almost impossible...... I think it's a conspiracy. Anyway Matalan did seem to have more xxxl stuff, but you have to pick and choose, again even these are not holding a huge amount..... You got a skinny waist, not a problem, you at xl or xxl, plenty stock..... Anything above that then you struggling. Luckily I managed to put together a black tux for a posh dinner..... Since then I've been back for some new holiday clothes and suitcases..... On both occasions I got good discounts having spent over £40. If company people read this, for gods sake start looking after those who are xxxl or above, it will be worth your while to do so.
Albert R — Google review
Nice clothes, reasonably priced, but a bit limited on sizes. I've been trying to get a certain item for months, but they never have my size, or they may have my size, but not the leg length! I never know when I'm going up that way, so I can't really order online to collect from the store, if they still do that!
Patricia P — Google review
Shop is large and spacious, and staff friendly. However, the quality of the products are poor. Bought my sons school trousers from there, within two weeks they are all ripped at the waistband, all 3 pairs! As a plus size woman I was so excited when they got a plus section. However it's becoming less and less, and the selection is now very limited.

St Botolph's Church, also known as "The Stump," is a stunning 14th-century Gothic church located by the riverside in Boston. The church is steeped in history, with its construction dating back to 1309 and its tower being added in the early 15th century. Visitors can take guided tours of the church and climb to the top of the tower for sweeping views of the surroundings.
Exceptional piece of local history and a landmark, that I am so happy to be able to see from my window every day. Walking up the tower is recommended if you are able to bare the claustrophobia and heights + the 200 odd steps... The hundreds of years of graffiti is a marvel in itself but comes second place to the view. Captivating ceiling architecture is definitely worth looking at and the lady from the gift shop was very friendly and helpful.

St. Botolph's Church, also known as the Boston Stump, This historic (14th century) church boasts an impressive tower that offers stunning views of the surrounding Lincolnshire countryside. The interior is equally captivating, with beautiful stained glass windows and a serene atmosphere. The church is steeped in history, making it a fascinating place to explore.
Syed O — Google review
Beautiful stunning church. Had a great walk around. Lots to see. I tried the labyrinth which is meant to focus your thoughts and calm your mind. The stained glass windows were exquisite. I noticed a rain puddle seeping through the elegant roof. That’s probably an ongoing problem with such a majestic building of a certain age. Well worth a visit. I forgot to mention they also give away free daily bread for those in need.
Heidi L — Google review
Sat and had a coffee, very peaceful and welcoming place. Even walked up the steps to get to the top of the stump! safe to say I won’t be doing that again 🤣 great experience!

Boston Guildhall, constructed in the 1390s by the Guild of St Mary, is a well-preserved red-brick building that now houses the town museum. Originally built for one of Boston's most influential societies, it showcases original features and works of art, including a portrait of Sir Joseph Banks. The guild was suppressed during Henry VIII's reign, leading to the building's transformation into Boston's town hall and courthouse.
This place is like a Tardis. As well as being home to the tourist information centre, and museum it is a stunning historical building in its own right. Built in the 1390, when Boston as a trading power was second only to London. Stunning features, especially the upstairs room. Entrance is free and well worth the visit.

This museum is so interesting and also free! While we were visiting the area, we were curious to learn more about the city of Boston and also its linked with the city in Massachussetts in the US. Boston Guildhall is a museum where you can learn about both of the cities and the linked between the two. You can even see some historical objects and learn interesting facts. It's really the best thing to do in Boston!

Great old building to visit and understand a bit more about Boston's importance in History with the Pilgrim Fathers.

Most disappointing. We have followed the Pilgrim Fathers trail and this was to be the icing on the cake. So little to see compared to the Bassetlaw museum in Retford. The staff didn't appear to care whether we were there or not. Don't know what gift shop was referred to in a previous review. We had travelled over an hour to see this. Time and petrol wasted.

Blackfriars Theatre and Arts Centre, located in Spain Lane, Boston, Lincolnshire, is a converted medieval friary that now serves as a local arts centre. This charming venue features a theatre, cabaret bar, and foyer gallery. It offers a variety of performances and events for the community to enjoy. The space is run by dedicated volunteers who work tirelessly to maintain this rare gem of an establishment.
As a family we got to the panto every Christmas eve and this year was another incredible show! We had a lot of fun and look forward to visiting again next year!
Joe L — Google review
The show was great, and the theatre was full. Blackfriars is a lovely venue, though I don't feel it is accessible for people with mobility issues. It does have a stair lift for access to the theatre, but I couldn't see how that progressed into the seating area. Keep offering community theatre and doing what you are doing, especially for the younger people of the area.
Dawn T — Google review

John D — Google review
So, rating the theatre itself, I have to say it's quaint, has a certain charm to it with it's age and structure. I've seen a few shows here now, mostly good with the exception of one....I wasn't alone in leaving at the half-time break either. The show "Cilla" was pretty awful 😖 Maybe Sheridan Smith just portrayed her so well, maybe the lady portraying her had an awful night.... BUT, speaking to people at the interval, they were pretty disappointed and also left, like us at half time. So for the overall Theatre and charm, it's a wonderful little place.... for the show "Cilla" or the other 4 shows being put on by the same company....I'd save your money and thank me for the review 😉

Fantastic quality of food with an amazing atmosphere. I would recommend to anyone who is a fan of Italian food. The staff were friendly and welcoming, helping to establish the warm feeling you get visiting La Pappardella. I hope and fully believe that this restaurant is deserving of being a success, and judging my how fast the restaurant filled, I'd say that it is. Truly a beautiful experience that I'd like to come back for.

I went for a meal with a friend. I like decorations and that they play Italian music. They have toilets and baby seat. Food was lovely but it feels like they are not properly established yet. They have lots of bottles and other stock stacked up next to the till. No deserts menu. Banoffee pie was nice not too sweet however cream tasted more like butter.

What can I say about this amazing place. I was very surprised that there was a restaurant like this in Boston. a fantastic Turkish restaurant. I can't tell you how delicious the salads and Mezes… the food was amazing. Most importantly, you will feel at home from the moment you enter. The Owner and workers so kindly and friendly. Thank you for everything we will definitely come back regularly 🙏🙏🙏

If you're looking for upscale and sophisticated in Boston, this comes highly recommended. Nice ambience, good portions, excellent regional wines. Importantly however, it's the quality and flavour of the food that matters. We chose several dishes from the home recipes section, including the moussaka, and it met our expectations. The chef is a nice guy and we chatted, where he mentioned having cooked at various establishments around the world, and I can believe it. The high score average is well deserved.

Amazing Amazing Amazing! Genuinely one of the nicest meals I’ve had in a very long time. Service was friendly and really welcoming…. And the food was immense! Everything was so light and flavoursome. The complementary bread and dips with a big generous bowl of salad was a great start. My lamb kebab I will be dreaming about for weeks to come I’m only visiting the area for a couple of days but this meal I’ll remember for a long long time!

Really good location in the center of boston with a clean interior and a counter where you could see all the fresh ingredients being prepared by the chef. The kebabs were plentiful with a side salad and a free portion of flat bread with various dips and olives. Wish we had room for desert because the cheesecake looked tempting.

**A Delightful Dining Experience** We recently dined at Still Bar& Restaurant and was thoroughly impressed. The warm and inviting ambiance, combined with attentive and friendly staff, made for a pleasant evening. The menu offers a delightful variety of dishes. We had a mixed kebab platter, yoghurtlu adana and salad with some meses. All of them was divine and we had a perfect meal. Overall, “Still” is a must-visit for anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience. I can't wait to return!
Gelişim D — Google review
Had the absolute misfortune of paying for what can only be described as a masterclass in disappointment. It’s a Turkish restaurant in the same way instant coffee is a “barista experience” — technically true, but deeply upsetting. They proudly served supermarket brown pitta bread, still in its “just took it out of the pack” glory, lovingly presented in a basket that looked like it hadn’t been washed since the Ottoman Empire. We were shown to a table without menus — apparently guessing the food is part of the charm. The waiter asked what I wanted before I’d even seen a menu, as if I might telepathically divine their offerings. No cutlery until requested. No drinks offered. I assume hydration is BYO. The “chef” wore one solitary black glove, presumably for style, because he used his ungloved hand to garnish and dress plates like a contestant in a food safety horror show. The dishes were… fine. If “fine” means below average, bland, and surrounded by an atmosphere that screams we gave up years ago. The prices, however, were as high as the standards should have been. In conclusion: if you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to pay premium prices for the privilege of being ignored while eating supermarket bread in a grubby room — your search is over.

Takeout Restaurant
Taan Thai Restaurant offers a selection of traditional Thai dishes, including various fish and seafood options, in an attractive and stylish environment. The staff is exceptionally friendly, and the food is equally delectable. It was stumbled upon by chance but left no regrets. The oyster curry appetizer comes highly recommended, as does seeking the staff's suggestions to venture beyond the typical pad thai and green curry.
A lovely Thai restaurant with excellent food! It’s fairly small, so has a great atmosphere. Staff are super-helpful and very friendly. Food is fab!! We had a selection of starters (pork dumplings were especially good, as were the corn fritters!!) Papaya salad was very tasty and just hot enough - I’m still ‘ glowing’ !! Would thoroughly recommend!

I ate here with friends early on a Friday evening before a concert at the nearby Gliderdrome. We chose from the early dining menu. Service was friendly and prompt. Hot, tasty food and very reasonably priced. The restaurant filled up really quickly and I liked the look of other dishes being served. I’m not often in the area but my friends live nearby and they will definitely be back. The lemon shimmer tea was delicious. Overall a very positive experience. Highly recommend!

I would recommend both the sharing platter for starter and royal fishing boat curry. Food was to a great service and staff were very friendly and chatty Update As a returning customer, my second visit was just as good as the first. Went for for the salt and pepper squid as a starter and the massaman curry for the main course – both dishes had great flavors, I highly recommend. The staff were attentive, ensuring our satisfaction despite the bustling atmosphere. It was relatively busy so would recommend booking

I was doing a road trip around Lincolnshire and stopped here for lunch as I love Thai food. We were welcomed by a lovely man who made us feel comfortable. The restaurant is also cosy with some peaceful Thai music which was great. I had the pad thai with shrimps and a Thai milk tea. Both were amazing and generous. I wish I lived closer to come back more often but I live a bit away unfortunately.

Went along on a Sunday evening around 6:30pm There was an early dining offer so I took advantage of this I ordered Chicken Satay to start, and then Beef Massaman Curry and Sticky Rice for main It was okay. Not the best I’ve had but it was ok to fill up for £17.50 The beef in the Massaman was a bit tougher and harder to chew than I would like, and the Massaman was a bit runnier than I find anywhere else Nice people, lovely restaurant and it was ok 👍

I can't believe I've lived in Boston for 2 years before I tried this place! The spring rolls are AMAZING entirely home made, from scratch, best I have ever had. Also the rice with prawns and chicken was delicious! Will definitely order again ❤️

Staff are really friendly, and food is equally as delicious. Came to this by coincidence and don't regret it. The oyster curry starter is 🫶🏻. I also recommend asking the staff for their recommendations as it's always nice to try something other than pad thai and green curry.

Food looks and feels very authentic. Freshly prepared and tasty. Very good jasmine tea on offer too. Atmosphere is calm and friendly with lots of flowers, Thai statues and pictures. Waiting staff is attentive and polite, although waiter 1 could smile a bit more. Restaurant seems popular with local residents who seem very happy as returning customers. It can be a little slow when busy but that’s ok as the atmosphere is good and calm. Enjoyed an authentic small Larb-Gai. Salt and Pepper Squid and a beautiful Massaman Curry - vegetable option.

Prezzo Italian Restaurant offers fresh, stone-baked pizza and classic pasta dishes in a casual atmosphere. The Valentine's Day special features two courses for 16.95 or three courses for 19.95, with 25% off bottles of Prosecco. Menu highlights include calamari with a basil pesto mayonnaise dip ( starters) and chicken, leeks and pancetta in gorgonzola sauce on penne pasta (mains).
Nice food and good service, affordable price. I recommend the Tiramisu, it’s so delicious.

Fantastic building and decor, we waited a short while to be seated, longer than felt comfortable, considering it was a quite lunch service this was slightly disappointing. Service was excellent, but very slightly tardy, food good but not great. We used our taste card, which made it a good, reasonable lunch but would think twice if it was full price.

Food arrived cold. But also bland and extremely expensive for what it is. Garlic bread with cheese pictured, could have had a better meal from a kebab shop. Wish we still had la pappardella.

Visited on a Sunday lunchtime and was really impressed. The pizza and pasta was authentic with quality fresh ingredients and with more flavour than other Italian restaurants I have visited. The portion sizes were just right. Our server was attentive, professional and friendly. All facilities were very clean and welcoming with tables well spaced. I would recommend.
