Spiaggia di Masua is a small but stunning beach located near Fontanamare, known for its famous natural monument, the Pan di Zucchero Islet. The area was once a thriving mining center and still offers attractions related to its mining heritage, including guided tours of the mines at Masua and Monteponi. Visitors can also explore the mining museum in town and the Machinery Museum in Iglesias.
Very pleasant little sandy beach with a stunning view and warm water. There are some ciosc restaurants and beach service which offers also boat trips to see the rock Pan di Zucchero little closer and the Porto Flavia which is constructed in the rock and can be seen only from the sea

Our hotel told us to get a bus to madua beach. So we did. But the bus dropped us off 25 minutes away, we had to walk down the mountain but once there the beach was nice, but very choppy! Had a nightmare getting back to the bus stop! Wouldn't recommend unless you get a taxi or drive!

so beautiful spot
Nidhal Z — Google review
Small but very pretty beach. A great way to refresh a little bit in the hot Sarrdinian summer, maybe before visiting Porto Flavia! On the beach there is also a bar/restaurant and there is plenty of parking around the area (both for cars and caravans). Definitely reccomended for a short break or a full day at the beach.
Jacopo C — Google review
Great beach. Not too busy. Can pay for sun lounger and umbrellas. Sand was really hot. There are toilets, but you have to pay. Water wasn’t too deep, quite clear. There was a little platform for people to jump off, but water looked shallow there.
Melissa C — Google review
Amazing place. Pictures, time on a sad. Relax
Magdalena T — Google review
Best place where to admire a sunset.!the beach itself is small and maybe not too great but there is a good spot for jumps and snorkeling around all those rocks is the best.
Valentina C — Google review
Facilities are great. Comfortable loungers at a reasonable price with cost of very clean toilet and shower included. You get use of their towels. The water is so warm to swim in. Food and drink in the bar/restaurant is over priced and not the best quality.

Lookouts
Porto Flavia, a port built in 1925 into a cliff above the sea near Nebida in southwest Sardinia, is an impressive feat of mining engineering. It served as a loading dock for zinc and featured two tunnels connecting it to the nearby mine for efficient mineral transportation. Today, visitors can tour the site by appointment with a guide due to safety reasons. The port's dramatic location and stunning views make it a must-see attraction on the Iglesiente coast.
Interesting place with interesting history why it was build the way it was. Great tour guide with fluent english explaining everything about the history of the place.
Henk S — Google review
The tour is actually about 40 minutes, 20 of which are waiting for another group to pass. Not much to see, but i love the idea of being inside one of the most interesting engineering sites. Also the lower level is inaccessible unfortunately.
Galina L — Google review
Unusual: not a mine per se but the tunnel used to transport lead, zinc and silver from the mines to the ship (lady guide with the Bansky tattoo could be less sarcastic with her replies, otherwise it was a positive experience )
Toine M — Google review
Porto Flavia is a unique and impressive site where history meets nature. The old mining port carved into the cliff offers stunning sea views and a fascinating story of engineering. A must-see for anyone visiting the area.
Nidhal Z — Google review
Interesting spot and part of Sardegna history. Also really beautiful views. The guide was very nice. I just would love to learn a bit more as information provided was very simple and I learnt more from AI after the trip
Magdalena W — Google review
What an amazing place the history and the work that went into carving a bulk shipping and handling facility into the centre of mountain of rock. Well worth the effort to get here and check it out❤️
Paul W — Google review
A bit expensive for what you are getting to visit. The site itself is unique but the tour was underwhelming. The guide seemed like they were reading off a script instead of being actually knowledgeable. It's worth the experience if you enjoy doing your own research.
Felix C — Google review
You can park near to Porto Flavia. But notice it’s a dirt road. The guided tour was very interesting. You walk through the tunnel and see how it was build. At the end you are standing in front of the sea and enjoy a beautiful view.

Outdoor Activities
Cala Domestica is a stunning sandy beach nestled in a natural bay surrounded by rugged cliffs and dunes. It's known for its vibrant beach bar and excellent snorkeling opportunities. Situated between Masua and Cala Domestica, the area offers a chance to explore the coastal region with its white beaches, clear waters, and historic mining sites. The town of Iglesias, rich in mining and medieval tradition, is just 20 km away.
Simply beautiful. Small beach. Toilet and shower are not free. Bar by the beach selling sandwiches, salad, and drinks. Parking is €5 for all day. You can climb up to have amazing view of the cove. Will take your breath away.
Ariestia S — Google review
The place is almost Perfect, despite the sea was a little rough the day we went and there were jellyfish. Have enough parking and they charge you 5 euros for the day. Plenty of space in the sand and Great scenography for photos.
Leonardo P — Google review
A remote and beautiful beach. The tower on the hill and the view from the route up there worth a little hike. You will need shoes for it though. Sadly, it's very littered around the ruins and caves, including toilet paper and human excrement among other things. If you visit, bring your own parasol, because they ask 30 euros for the two sunbeds and parasol for a day. The parking was 5€. I recommend Spiaggia di San Nicolo instead. The parking there was 2€ and the sunbeds with parasols were free. The infrastructure there is better too.
Miklós S — Google review
Very nice beach that has a suprise little beach next to it as well. The second one was more calm and with sandy entrance. Both has big rocks following the entrance. We came on a saturday in August around 3pm. I highly recommend checking the wind situation because it was super windy and had a red flag so it was not very possible to swim. Possible to get in to the water in close distance though. Parking was 3 euros, they ask for cash. Had a nice view on the parking around 6pm with goats on rocks!
Bilge K — Google review
The beach is nice but for me, it’s a tourist trap; there are far more beautiful beaches and authentic! In this one you have to pay 10€ for parking (depending on the hour), 1€ for using the bathroom, 1€ for the showers…The entrance beach bar is okay but expensive for the quality, plus they charge 15% extra.
Paola E — Google review
Cala Domestica is great but the one next to it, Cala Longa is much better.
Manuel G — Google review
One of my newly discovered places, but definitely up there in the top 10. The water is amazing, colors weren't as great the day I've been, due to some rain the previous day, but they were still gorgeous, which goes to say how amazing they must be on a normal day of pure sun. If you go up the mountain on the left you can even get a pretty decent sunset in the evening. Really pretty place, if you've got the time and chance to travel all the way there, worth every second spent there, you get some amazing views there
Emilian C — Google review
One of the most beautiful beaches on Sardegna. It's easy to manage, there is a car park near the entry to the beach. Car park is free (October 2020) there is bar but when we were sightseeing it was closed. As far as I know, there are two options to reach the beach: by car and by feet through the mountain track. Amazing place, totally 'must see'!

Grotta di Santa Barbara

4.7
(1318)
Grotta di Santa Barbara is a natural wonder discovered in 1952 within the San Giovanni Mine. The cave boasts stunning barite crystals, ceroid limestone, and formations dating back 500 million years. Visitors are captivated by the breathtaking stalagmite and stalactite formations. Tours include a train ride into the mine, an elevator ascent to an upper level, and access to the magnificent cave. The experience is enhanced by informative guides who provide insight into this unique geological site.
We really enjoyed our guided tour of the Grotta di Santa Barbara. The tour guide was very friendly and open to every question, which was then answered in a conclusive manner. The tour we took was at 3.30 pm and bilingual in Italian and English. It took us overall a bit more than 60 minutes with a group of approximately 24 people and included: Ride into the mine via mine train, elevator ride (which was a bit cozy), taking the stairs up to the cave, looking around in the cave with a lot of explanations, time to take individual photos in the cave and then the way back out of the mine. The cave itself is really beautiful and very astonishing to look at. Can recommend!
Robert F — Google review
Need booking online before as otherwise fully booked https://www.iglesiasturismo.it/en/plan-your-trip/tickets/ Was a nice experience to visit a mine in an electric train, using elevator to go down in mine and cave
Etienne P — Google review
This place is out of this world. Looks like an underground cathedral, made of alabaster columns, and topped with ivory pinnacles. There are stalactites and stalagmites everywhere, along with other formations. And, to top it off, an amazingly clear and turquoise lake sparkles at the bottom of the cave. Unbelievable...
Davide B — Google review
Book in advance at tourist office. Step walk of 1 km up from bindua bus stop. Best of similar caves I have seen in Sardinia. Some superb rock formations. Guided tour is on Italian.
Jonathan S — Google review
Very cool to ride the train into the mine and get to see a unique piece of geology, truly spectacular

Open air museum
Ghost town
The Villaggio Minerario Asproni is an exceptional and captivating place where one can immerse themselves in the rich history of the people who once owned, operated, and toiled in the mines many years ago. This open-air museum offers a superior experience compared to conventional museums as it allows visitors to truly sense and understand the past. It is highly recommended to book a tour with Annalisa, who will guide you through this fascinating journey into the region's mining history.
Fantastic and interesting place. You can experience and feel the history of the people who owned, operated and worked in the mines many decades in the past. Better than any museum. Definitely book a tour with Annalisa!

To facilitate ordering, they have conveniently translated their menus into various languages. With remarkable scenery, prompt service, and delectable pizza options, Bar 906 Operaio guarantees a memorable dining experience.
Absolute must visit place. I’m still under effect. We went up there to see the sunset. The whole place is magical, the view the road there, everything. Unfortunately we did not book a table so we just grabbed some drinks and waited for the sunset. I’m kind of regretted not to have a dinner there. Maybe next time.
Barnabás B — Google review
Don't go for the pizza there, don't expect kindness. It has stunning views, but don't expect to eat well, the simple Margherita pizza was obsolete. Get an aperitivo instead. The staff is not all welcoming. While the waiter was kind and helped us (giving him the stars) with the order, the waitress was the opposite. Very rude and didn't even want to give us a table. They added an extra spritz in the bill, but I just paid and left, didn't want to complain anymore.
Elena L — Google review
Place is very nice with amazing view. It's worth to see and eat delicious pizza.
Tomasz C — Google review
Phenomenal spot. Ignore all the low star reviews, they're full of crap. This place was so ideal. Amazing drinks, pizza is spectacular, and service is top knotch
Robby D — Google review
Tried to book a table — they were full, fair enough. Asked if we could get a takeaway instead and were told no, something about “the space got the box,” which made no sense. Then we watched at least four other people get takeaway with no problem. The only difference? They weren’t English. Felt like we were being treated differently for no good reason. Went back in to ask for a contact number and the staff literally ran off to avoid us. They knew exactly what they were doing. Won’t be going back.

(Translated by Google) Terrible experience. I had ordered two pulled pork sandwiches at 6:00 PM (opening time) and received confirmation that they would be reserved for me. If I order and get confirmation, I expect the product to be reserved. At 9:15 PM, I showed up to pick it up and was told the pulled pork was out of stock, adding that "they were about to call me." But what time did they want to pick it up? I find it absurd that, despite my reservation, the meat was "out of stock": it makes me wonder if it was given to someone else, perhaps friends. Furthermore, the replacement sandwiches weren't even ready, and I had to wait another 15 minutes, wasting my time. To make matters worse, the sandwich they served me stayed in my stomach all night, and I felt sick the next day. Non-existent organization, lack of professionalism, and questionable quality. I won't be returning. (Original) Esperienza pessima.

(Translated by Google) I was passing through Iglesias on my way back from the sea and my boyfriend was attracted by the evocative name of manga. We were looking for a quick bite but we found everything excellent and I wanted to leave a review, unfortunately with only one photo because the priority was to ingest. We took a margherita pizza, with well-leavened and digestible dough, which doesn't leave you thirsty; a Nonna Caterina sandwich, with very tasty and aromatic meatballs, the fried culurgiones with truly delicious pecorino cream, also surprisingly light. The fries, served with artisanal mayonnaise and ketchup, are fried in their skins. Very low price with quick and friendly service from the guys, all young and very kind. The only complaint I can have is against myself, for not living closer. Highly recommended. Consigliatissimo.
