Interesting place with interesting history why it was build the way it was. Great tour guide with fluent english explaining everything about the history of the place.
The tour is actually about 40 minutes, 20 of which are waiting for another group to pass. Not much to see, but i love the idea of being inside one of the most interesting engineering sites. Also the lower level is inaccessible unfortunately.
Unusual: not a mine per se but the tunnel used to transport lead, zinc and silver from the mines to the ship (lady guide with the Bansky tattoo could be less sarcastic with her replies, otherwise it was a positive experience )
Porto Flavia is a unique and impressive site where history meets nature. The old mining port carved into the cliff offers stunning sea views and a fascinating story of engineering. A must-see for anyone visiting the area.
Interesting spot and part of Sardegna history. Also really beautiful views. The guide was very nice. I just would love to learn a bit more as information provided was very simple and I learnt more from AI after the trip
What an amazing place the history and the work that went into carving a bulk shipping and handling facility into the centre of mountain of rock. Well worth the effort to get here and check it out❤️
A bit expensive for what you are getting to visit. The site itself is unique but the tour was underwhelming. The guide seemed like they were reading off a script instead of being actually knowledgeable. It's worth the experience if you enjoy doing your own research.
You can park near to Porto Flavia. But notice it’s a dirt road. The guided tour was very interesting. You walk through the tunnel and see how it was build. At the end you are standing in front of the sea and enjoy a beautiful view.

(Translated by Google) The soul of Iglesias opens up in the silent neighborhood of Sa Costera. And in silence you walk through the alleys that exude ancient Iberian air. Some Spaniards say that images of towns in Extremadura pass before their eyes, reminiscent of when they were children. Thus you come across colorful houses, votive altars on the facades, wrought iron balconies. And together with the love request of a well-kept historic center there is the castle garden which leads to the unfortunately non-functioning lift. Hospitality also means embracing everyone, because Iglesias is a place of brotherhood. The neighborhood can be visited on foot, without haste, starting from the central square or from Piazza Municipio towards Sa Costera and the medieval walls of the castle.

Very pleasant little sandy beach with a stunning view and warm water. There are some ciosc restaurants and beach service which offers also boat trips to see the rock Pan di Zucchero little closer and the Porto Flavia which is constructed in the rock and can be seen only from the sea
Our hotel told us to get a bus to madua beach. So we did. But the bus dropped us off 25 minutes away, we had to walk down the mountain but once there the beach was nice, but very choppy! Had a nightmare getting back to the bus stop! Wouldn't recommend unless you get a taxi or drive!
Little nice v Place and Restaurant t ops in off. Small Food List but great wine acailabe
Small but very pretty beach. A great way to refresh a little bit in the hot Sarrdinian summer, maybe before visiting Porto Flavia! On the beach there is also a bar/restaurant and there is plenty of parking around the area (both for cars and caravans). Definitely reccomended for a short break or a full day at the beach.
Great beach. Not too busy. Can pay for sun lounger and umbrellas. Sand was really hot. There are toilets, but you have to pay. Water wasn’t too deep, quite clear. There was a little platform for people to jump off, but water looked shallow there.
Amazing place. Pictures, time on a sad. Relax
Best place where to admire a sunset.!the beach itself is small and maybe not too great but there is a good spot for jumps and snorkeling around all those rocks is the best.

The museum is located in the very center, where free parking is quite difficult to find. That's why we chose the parking lot of the retail chain and with some luck found the entrance to the museum. The museum consists of three large halls, in which showcases with specimens of minerals, fossils and industrial archaeological finds are exhibited. The museum collection includes almost 3,800 mineralogical, petrographic and fossil finds from all over the world, enriched by a collection of around a hundred archaeological finds originating from mining activities, from the Nuragic, Phoenician-Punic, Roman, Pisan and Aragonese medieval periods. A collection of finds that represents the identity of the Iglesiente area and brings together didactic, mineralogical and paleontological collections composed of local minerals and fossils and specimens from deposits spread over a regional, national and global territory. OK, it's "information from the web", so I'm not adding my own knowledge. Thanks for the info. Worth a visit. VERY, VERY, friendly staff!!!! Thank you for your engagement and effort. In any case, everything was OK. We recommend!!
A very interesting museum with a collection of 3800 mineralogical, petrographic, and fossil finds from around the world.
Great museum with an amazing collection of minerals. I particularly enjoyed the local mining history and all the different tools and machinery. The guide is only available in Italian.
Great stories , great guide , a good oportunity to learn! A must visit in iglesias! Will certainly come back with new people in my next visit in this city.
We had a fantastic guided tour. The topic is fascinating and the collections of the museum are stunning. The training tunnel is spot on! We were also bewildered by the great mineral collection. Recommended to fully understand the local history.
Well worth the visit. I would recommend this museum to anybody visiting Iglesias. Thanks again to our guide who opened the museum for us on New Year's Eve :)
Very interesting guided tour in Italian though I believe there is some provision in English to. Used to be a mining Scholl explained about mining industry locally

Book in advance at tourist office. Step walk of 1 km up from bindua bus stop. Best of similar caves I have seen in Sardinia. Some superb rock formations. Guided tour is on Italian.
Need booking online before as otherwise fully booked https://www.iglesiasturismo.it/en/plan-your-trip/tickets/ Was a nice experience to visit a mine in an electric train, using elevator to go down in mine and cave
This place is out of this world. Looks like an underground cathedral, made of alabaster columns, and topped with ivory pinnacles. There are stalactites and stalagmites everywhere, along with other formations. And, to top it off, an amazingly clear and turquoise lake sparkles at the bottom of the cave. Unbelievable...
We really enjoyed our guided tour of the Grotta di Santa Barbara. The tour guide was very friendly and open to every question, which was then answered in a conclusive manner. The tour we took was at 3.30 pm and bilingual in Italian and English. It took us overall a bit more than 60 minutes with a group of approximately 24 people and included: Ride into the mine via mine train, elevator ride (which was a bit cozy), taking the stairs up to the cave, looking around in the cave with a lot of explanations, time to take individual photos in the cave and then the way back out of the mine. The cave itself is really beautiful and very astonishing to look at. Can recommend!
Very cool to ride the train into the mine and get to see a unique piece of geology, truly spectacular
Beautiful cave formations seen only in a few places. We had a very informative and interesting guide.

It is very very fun. And I like it because it has a pool and the hat making community is very nice and there are a lot of places to eat and drink and sleep and shop and walk and drive and swim. The sea is also close by and it has wave breakers which stop the tide being strong and it makes the beach water (sea water) warm.
Really cool mine to visit. Tours start every full hour from 10 till 12 and 14 till 17h (only in Italian). Since we were the only visitors the guide tried his best to explain everything in English. Beautiful mine with many authentic features left.
Really cool mine, very interesting tour from our guide about the mine's history, minerals, wokers and more. Tour was both in english and italian. Bring a jacket!
Nice visit to the historic past of the mine live in Sardinia, the guided visit is a must (very interesting).

(Translated by Google) This place literally takes your breath away. The ruins of the former Monteponi mine are a true journey through time - raw, authentic and moving. Walking among the empty buildings, I felt like I was looking into an abandoned world, where you can still hear the echo of the hard work of miners and the industrial hustle and bustle of decades ago. Ruined halls, metal structures, rusty equipment and crumbling buildings create an incredible, almost cinematic atmosphere. Nature is slowly starting to reclaim the area, which adds mystery and melancholy to the place. For lovers of urbex, industrial history or photography, this is a must-see on the map of Sardinia. It was an extraordinary journey - not only physical, but also emotional. Maniera Monteponi is a space that will stay in your memory for a long time. I recommend it to anyone looking for something more than just beaches and resorts. (Original) To miejsce dosłownie zapiera dech w piersiach. Ruiny dawnej kopalni Monteponi to prawdziwa podróż w czasie — surowa, autentyczna i poruszająca. Wędrując wśród pustostanów, miałem wrażenie, jakbym zaglądał do porzuconego świata, w którym wciąż słychać echo ciężkiej pracy górników i przemysłowego zgiełku sprzed dekad. We really enjoyed the tour. The building wasn’t too impressive, the texts were all in Italian and we practically did not understand a word the guide was saying, but his infectious impeccable energy had us hooked. Also, we learned a new Italian word; Questo. Brilliant!
We went online to check the opening hours and drove 45 minutes from where we were to find it was closed. That aside, the views from the top of the hill overlooking Iglesias were stunning. Alas we could not enter the castle grounds itself as it was all closed up. What a disappointment
The climb to the castle is sadly full of trash. The view is ok, but the castle itself is not really worth it imo.

(Translated by Google) The Cathedral of Santa Chiara, located in the heart of the historic center of Iglesias, is the main place of worship in the city and one of the most significant examples of medieval religious architecture in Sardinia. Built in the 13th century at the behest of the rulers of the Pisan dynasty, it was dedicated to Saint Clare of Assisi, patron saint of the city. The building, initially in Gothic style, has undergone numerous interventions over the centuries, especially in the Baroque era, which have modified its original appearance. On the outside, the simple but elegant façade is striking, while the interior houses works of art, marble altars and precious liturgical furnishings. The chapel of the Blessed Sacrament is particularly evocative. The Cathedral is still the center of the city's religious life today, home to solemn celebrations and events linked to the mining and cultural tradition of Iglesias. A place that combines spirituality, art and history, telling the profound identity of the city. Although we came by unannounced we got to taste a lot of their wines. We felt very welcome and bought some beautiful bottles. There is also a tradition farm you can visit. Thank you Mario!
Amazing experience sampling delicious wines paired with local cheese and salami. A must if you are a wine lover. The owner was very nice he gave us a tour of the winery. While tasting the wine he explained about the wine and the history of the locality. Will definitely visit again
What a grape escape! The winery was top-notch, and Enrico was the perfect pour-fection! He gave us a taste of the good life with his expert knowledge of the wines and grapes, making us feel like we were part of the wine-drinking elite! Thanks from the the DC girl and the 2 UK girls!
I emailed Cantina Aru a few weeks before our visit and got a quick reply from Enrico helping to set up a visit for us. When we visited they were doing work on a new tasting space which we got to see in progress and will make a beautiful space to taste when it's finished. The tasting includes 5 wines and Enrico told us about the local producers where he picked up some cheese and salami to go with the wines. Everything was delicious and Enrico was very warm and welcoming. We took home 2 bottles and would have taken more if we had the space to travel with them!
Enrico is an absolute legend. We came in for wine tasting and he explained everything in so much detail (in English). We learnt so much about all the wines and history about the area which we didn’t know about. Would highly recommend anyone to visit this little gem!
Highly recommend a trip to this vineyard! We notified the vineyard about our arrival a day in advance and they were very welcoming and happy to give us a free tour. We loved their hospitality and kindness. Enrico told us about the wine production and offered us 5 different wines together with some local produce to snack on. Not to mention that his English is fantastic! Thank you very much!!
It was great to visit this small local winery - we didn’t know the wines offered by this place so we were offered wine tasting in the nice surrounding. The white wine is delicious! Great quality for a reasonable price. Will be ideal as a present.
We had the most amazing experience with Enrico, who showed us Cantina Aru and their wines for about 3 hours. We tasted 5 wines, and some local cheese, bread and sausage, and at the end we even got to taste wine during 3 different fermentation processes. A beautiful vineyard with a nice little museum, amazing wines and the most amazing staff. Enrico was great, the sales manager was so passionate although speaking Italian he often came and answered questions that Enrico would translate. If we comeback we will visit again! Must try experience if you are in the area.

The ancient part of the cemetery is monumental, and preserves some tombs with statues by Sartorio (the same author of the war memorial in Piazza Oberdan). In recent times, the same "historical" part has been crowded with excessively modern tombs, somewhat ruining the atmosphere of the place. The remaining contemporary part is like all other cemeteries.

(Translated by Google) We took a guided tour of Porto Flavia, a beautiful and well-maintained place. However, the guides' explanations were terrible: they lacked knowledge and were delivered hastily. From the moment we arrived, there were arguments and disagreements among the guides themselves, and even rude comments were used towards us guests for simple directions. It's a shame about the poor explanation of such a beautiful place.

The church was rebuilt in the Middle Ages in what was then called "Villa Eclesiae". The architecture currently presents itself in a late Gothic/Romanesque architectural style, in the seventeenth century the convent of the Poor Clare nuns and the convent of the Franciscan friars were annexed. In the upper part of the facade there are external renovations dating back to the end of the 17th century and the beginning of the 18th century Baroque. To visit.
(Translated by Google) The church of S. Saturno, later dedicated to S. Chiara and then to the Madonna delle Grazie, is in the historic center of Iglesias, a short distance from the cathedral. There is a lack of documentary information on the layout of the church, attributable to the end of the 13th century. Of the Gothic building with a single nave, rebuilt in the 18th century century, the facade remains (perfectly to the west, 8 m), mutilated of the terminal today in late Baroque forms. The facing is made of medium-sized limestone ashlars, cut with accuracy. From above, shoe-shaped plinth the robust corner pilasters and the two flat pilasters with a semi-hexagonal section rise up, enclosing the architraved and lunette portal, connected by horizontal arching; the lower part of the façade is thus divided into three mirrors. The portal has a semicircular relief arch with eyebrows. The architrave with classical phytomorphic branch decoration rests on capitals decorated like those of the pilasters. The bows have semicircular ring nuts cut flush and wide corbels mostly with flat leaves with a sharp top. In line with the portal there is an ogival window with a hanging eyebrow and light originally mullioned window.
