Outdoor Activities
Zoo Tîrgu Mureș - Marosvásárhelyi Állatkert is a vast zoo with diverse animal exhibits, green spaces, and food options. It's an ideal spot for families visiting Targu Mures, offering entertainment for both kids and adults. With over 80 animal species to see, including birds and felines, the zoo provides an extensive area for leisurely walks. Ticket prices are reasonable, with special deals available for groups and families.
The zoo is the perfect spot to spend some time with the kids. The automated ticketing machines are easy to use and you can avoid spending time in queue. Also an app is available for tickets and information through the visit. The animals are looking good, and their areas provide plenty of space. The parking area could get crowded in weekends.

Such a fun place! The capybara stole the show 🥰. All the animals look happy, lots of space and shade, and plenty of stops for ice cream, waffles, and coffee. Perfect for families—don’t miss it!
Tanya B — Google review
I visited the Târgu Mureș Zoo with my family and we had an amazing experience. The zoo layout is perfect, well-organized, and has a wide variety of animals. It was my first time seeing lions, tigers, elephants, which was unforgettable. Unlike other zoos I’ve visited in the past that had very few animals, this one had plenty of animals with plenty to see. Tickets were approx $25 for 3 adults. Perfect deal for a tourist. A must visit for adults and kids!
Moharam I — Google review
One of the best Zoo's in România. This should an ideal destination for each family with kids, but not only..
Csaba D — Google review
We enjoyed our visit to the Zoo. Many of the enclosures are spacious and there are not many signs of distress amongst the animals. The bird enclosures were very small which is why I removed a star. Price wise, it is extremely good value.

**Great day out with the kids at Zoo Târgu Mureș!** We had a wonderful family visit to the zoo. The kids were absolutely thrilled to see so many different animals up close. The highlights included: 🦌 Bison - impressive and majestic 🐹 Capybara - the kids loved these gentle giants 🐪 Camel - always a favorite with children 🐅 Tiger - powerful and beautiful to watch 🦁 Lion - the king of the zoo! 🐘 Elephant - amazing to see such magnificent creatures 🦒 Giraffe - the kids were amazed by how tall they are The variety of animals made it an educational and exciting day for the whole family. Would definitely recommend for families with children!

Nice big zoo. The aninals have large cages, plenty of room. The bears are well taken care of and share a laaaaarge area with the wolves. Plenty of animals and you can put your small kid in a cart if it gets tired.

Complexul Weekend TG Mureș - Marosvásárhelyi Víkendtelep is a delightful place to spend leisure time. In addition to swimming in the complex, there are various other recreational activities available. The area features several local restaurants that remain open beyond the summer season. Visitors can enjoy boating and hydrobike rides on the lake, as well as the new activity of surf pedal boarding.
Like a story. Calm. Beautiful.
Rebeka B — Google review
This place is huge. Great pools for the family on a hot day. Sad that the slides are closed and the guards spent all day telling off the kids for climbing the water slides.
T R — Google review
The pools are are clean enough, and the staff is ok. But the water slides did not work for the first half of the day and the staff could not tell us when they open. The food options were ok, if a bit expensive.
Vio M — Google review
This is a great place to unwind with friends and family! The facilities are excellent, with plenty of restaurants offering delicious food and drinks. The location is also perfect for activities with kids. The only downside is the pool and water maintenance - the water can be unclear at times. However, this can easily be remedied by using the showers after pool use. Overall, a very good experience with a few areas for improvement. A solid 3-star rating-because of the dirty water.
Szocs ( — Google review
It is a very good place and they have all shorts of swimming pool. Like the kids small one and for adults who do not know to swim, little bigger one and then the Olympic event size. They do have indoor temperature controlled swimming pool for winter season. They have restaurants here and it is relatively cheap. I love this place. You can come to spend your weekend. Local people call or weekend something. If you are a non Românian speaker then tell weekend swimming pool and the taxi will get you here. There are other sports activities here such as football.
Harmit S — Google review
Walking around the pools is free-of-charge. The children parks are open. There is a place where you can play air hokey and other electronic games usinc special coins, which are cheaper than the same in the city's shopping centers. As the summer season did not start, only a few places are open, most are still preparing for the new season.

Complex Weekend is in the ❤️ of Targu Mures. Excellent in summer and hot days with plenty of playgrounds, indoor and outdoor pools and several restaurants .

Reformed church
Fortress Church, located just 3 kilometers from the city center, is the oldest church in town, dating back to the Hungarian Kingdom. It boasts stunning frescos and mural paintings and has been well preserved over its 500+ year history. The church also features museums, a wedding chapel, and stages for small concerts. A symbol of Targu Mures, this historic site is currently undergoing maintenance and restoration works.
One of the symbols of the city Targu Mures. The (Reformat) Church was build in the early 13TH CENTURY

A 500+ year old fortified church. It's very well preserved and partially rebuilt. A good place to meet up, to go for a walk, or just sit on a bench and listen to the birds sing. Accommodates a couple of museums, a wedding chapel and two stages for small concerts.
Csiki C — Google review
The Fortress Church is beautiful. It's Hungarian Reformed, which I believe means something like Lutheran. Lots of standing up and sitting down, more than the Catholics. Mostly elderly people at this church. I may go back, but it probably won't be my home church.
Ruthie C — Google review
Nice place, though it would be better if they had the possibility of having a tour guide inside or at least some plackards next to the main buildings in the fortress. A leaflet with a small map and info would also help - things you should get from the info point, if only it wasn't closed in the middle of the day

Restaurant
On a Friday afternoon, Orobianco Ristorante was relatively quiet, with a sparse crowd in the dining hall. However, there was quite a wait for the first course, possibly because the staff seemed more focused on preparing for dinner service and had minimal personnel during lunchtime. The menu primarily draws inspiration from Italian cuisine, incorporating some hints of East Mediterranean flavors. Additionally, there are fusion options available such as spaghetti with shrimps and curry.
Really excellent food. Great burger, pasta and salmon. My kids loved the Lava Cake and the Raspberry Sorbet was excellent. Good location as well. Not the cheapest but for the quality the prices are fine.

A great restaurant, with great food and at a great price! After a day of roudtrips, hikes, castles and churches, we stopped here for a bite to eat before bed. We are so happy we did. The food was scrumptious! I highly recommend it.

Went there recently. The service, cleanliness, kitchen staff were all amazing. One if not the only best restaurant in the city. The food is amazing, especially on bitter tartar, beef sirloin, beef steak. Everything is cooked to perfection. The service staff is unbelievable, food is tasty and delicious. The menu offers a wide range of meals, cooked to perfection

Amazing food, outstanding service! I real hidden gem in the heart of Targu Mureș. Coming from people with a very extensive experience of eating in some of the best restaurants of the world, needless to say we have incredibly high expectations, I can genuinely say that the quality of food here it really is out of this world. If in Targu Mureș do not miss the chance to a slice of heaven. From a perfectly prepared beef tartare carpaccio, or foie gras to salads, the highest quality steak cuts we had not only in Romania but compared to worldwide, we simply insist on looking no more and don’t wanna miss a day of eating here. Roberto, the owner is hands on, extremely knowledgeable and sweet to waiter Petruța…could not ask for more. Very highly recommended.

My brother and I enjoyed a beautiful dining room overlooking the town center Our host Lorno and Patriccia were gracious. Professional and attended to our needs weather it was a very smooth local red wine to go with my pasta dish or a full bodied spicy all meat pizza for my brother. I applaud their efforts to give our meal a wonderful experience

We had an excellent experience at this restaurant. The Italian food was delicious, fresh, and full of flavor. What really made the difference was the service — the staff were incredibly kind and attentive, always making sure every detail was perfect and that all our requests were met. Highly recommended!

This establishment is recognized as one of the premier dining options in the entire city. The level of excellence is exceptional, and the servers consistently exhibit an elegant and fashionable demeanor. I highly recommend paying a visit to this venue, where you can indulge in their delectable lava cake as well as their diverse burger selection. Their offerings are abundant and of exceptional quality. The food is superb, and the location is also commendable. The waitstaff provides exceptional support and displays a friendly disposition.
I came on a Friday night and service was quick and consistent. I only speak English and they were very friendly and helpful. I had three different workers visit my table to help. The food came quickly, it was hot and very good. It had the fish and chips. I highly recommend this place!

I have nothing to complain about this place personal was super great we were a big group and they didn’t have any problem to combine some tables outside to sit us there, food and beers were prepared relatively fast and they tasted really good and also it was pretty big portions compared to to other restaurants. Photos of just few of our dishes.

I stopped out here last night with a coworker for dinner. We had a good time. I enjoyed the beef cheek. It was tender with a very pleasant flavor. I could cut through it with a spoon if I wanted to! The asparagus was also cooked perfectly. I definitely recommend this place.

Friday evening | Couples' dinner We've made reservations beforehand. At first the restaurant wasn't crowded at all, but at about 20:00, it started getting packed with people. The atmosphere: The restaurant has a deluxe/premium touch to it. Live music was cool. There is also an outdoor terrace, but it was too cold to sit outside - if you need to take a smoke, you can go there (you've got ashtrays) The food: We've ordered a Medium cooked Redneck burger and an Argentinian New York strip (Medium cooked) steak and a coleslaw salad. The burger was Well done cooked and the included french fries were from the freezer 👎. (It should've said in the menu what items are from the freezer, but it didn't) On the other hand, the steak was delicious (medium cooked) but it included a small cabbage salad, that the waiter didn't mention to us. So the coleslaw salad that we ordered was a little too much. All-in-all, I recommend this place for the steaks which are delicious.

Nestled in the scenic area of Platoul Cornesti, Casa Din Padure has made a triumphant return after a brief closure. This charming eatery is not only visually appealing but also offers a delightful dining experience with prompt service and delicious meals. Guests can conveniently place their orders at the bar, making it an ideal spot for those who appreciate efficiency. The friendly and accommodating staff adds to the welcoming atmosphere, making it perfect for families looking to enjoy a meal together.
**Excellent barbecue spot - Casa din Pădure** Had a wonderful meal at Casa din Pădure! This is exactly what you want in a barbecue restaurant - great food at very reasonable prices. The grilled meats were delicious and perfectly cooked. You can tell they know what they're doing with the barbecue here. The portions were generous and the quality was excellent, especially considering how affordable the prices are. The atmosphere is nice and welcoming - perfect for a casual meal out. Great value for money and we left completely satisfied. Highly recommend for anyone looking for good barbecue without breaking the bank. We'll definitely be coming back!
Gilbert L — Google review
We ordered two lemonades, requesting them to be sugar-free. What we received was made from store-bought lemon juice, diluted with a bit of water, a half slice of lemon, and ice added by hand by the bartender. The issue was that the lemonade was overwhelmingly sour, to the point of being almost undrinkable, due to the excessive amount of lemon juice used. While I did ask for it without sugar, it should still be enjoyable. When I approached the staff about this, they showed no interest in resolving the issue and simply stated that I had asked for it without sugar, all while maintaining an expressionless demeanor. In the end, the only solution I was offered was a larger glass, which allowed us to dilute the lemonade with our own mineral water and some cola to make it drinkable.
Péter K — Google review
No table service whatsoever. Had to go in order, pay, and wait until they finished the order just so I can walk out with my coffee out the door, doing a balancing act to not spill it. Menu with fringe edges. No cohesive branding whatsoever (different types of seating, tables, menu seems Italian but the place is branded like a homely shed). Would not recommend.
B H — Google review
It’s a fairly good looking place, the food was good and it was served pretty fast. Yes, you have to order at the bar but I don’t see a problem with that if you’re not the lazy type. The staff was great, friendly and helpful. It was a nice stop after a visit at the zoo!
Dannysnd — Google review
Dissapointing attitude from the staff, zero attention to customer requirements regarding the food. We are in 2022, a little flexibility could bring big improvements (other restaurants are doing it). After the order, the food was delivered without the requirement discussed (they forgot to tell to the chef). Had to wait to correct the mistake.. eventually the food came. No complain there, very good food indeed! But the attitude at the beginning gave me a bitter taste and probably we will never go back!
Toth C — Google review
Nice, friendly people. Also the food is great!
Norbert T — Google review
Extremely disappointing customer service. Dismissive and inappropriate attitude. Zero attention to detail and no flexibility whatsoever. However, when requests are met after much persuasion, rude attitude is the main response. Food was good.

Day 2

Center of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the center side of town. Start the day off with Medieval Fortress of Târgu Mureș, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to The Palace of Culture in Târgu Mureș. All together, your day would be filled with about 8 hours of non-stop fun.

Castles
Târgu Mureș Fortress is a well-preserved walled fort complex with origins dating back to the 15th century. Originally built as a castle in 1492, it underwent restoration in the 1960s to reclaim its initial form. The fortress features a church, barracks, and a grassy park within its walls. It now serves as a museum with exhibits on its history and that of the city.

That's a nice find. I was really impressed by the place. When we arrived, there was a flower festival with beautiful settings. Nice and warm people. The city center is clean and not crowded by the cars. I like it a lot.

Katalin S — Google review
A stunning fortress, beautifully restored and lovingly maintained by the locals. It has a charming interior garden and an impressive church. During our visit, there was a concert with guitarists performing, it was truly an amazing experience.
Blaga A — Google review
There is a small problem with the toilets in combination with ignorant people who do not "want" to know how to use them! Other than that you can have a nice walk in the middle of nature, surrounded by the silent and well- preserved ruins of the fortress there are many benches to seat on, or you can have a seat on the grass to watch the concerts that are held here. You can take the furry member of the family for a walk there, but only if kept on a leash and of course "please respect nature" or love it, therefore I kindly ask you to protect it!
Donna E — Google review
Beautiful place. We caught a dog show so I got pictures of cute puppers also!
Xaara N — Google review
It's a large fortress integrated into the city. It's in very good shape, but with the exception of 2 small museums and a couple of bars, there are little activities for tourists. The institution for marriages is here, so on a Saturday, you'll see lots of brides.
Andrei M — Google review
Visiting this place almost everyday As soon as you climb the stairs or enter through the food court wing you are greeted with a peace and quietness between these walls. Unreal, yet deep inside the central district. It's open from 9:00-21:00. Daytime / night time - anytime is a good time here. You can explore the ramparts and see the city from within them, chill on benches scattered throughout the fortress grounds and have a bite to eat at the tables in the food wing.

Rákóczi Stairs is an intriguing and serene location to discover. It's crucial to be cautious while exploring as a few of the staircases may be in disrepair or slippery. Várostörténelmi látványosság. Nem egy csodálatos látnivaló, de a környezettel összekötve, van hangulata. A festés újkeletű, elrontotta a régies hangulatát. Historical city level attraction. It's not a wonderful sight, but connected with the environment, it has a mood. The painting is a relatively new adding and spoiled its old-fashioned atmosphere. Recommended for nostalgists, not necessarily for tourists.

Very quiet place and interesting to stumble upon! Just watch your step, because some of the steps are damaged or slippery. Connects the Citadel Road to the main boulevard crossing the city.

I was curious about the painted stairs in Tg Mures, nearby an old city entrance. I was expecting to see a cheerful folk, red, white and black painted pattern. But it seems that the previous street art was a victim of a more "political" approach. It is now painted in the Hungarian flag colors.

Ascension Cathedral, although referred to as a cathedral, is actually a church that was constructed in the last century and has become an iconic symbol of the city. The exterior features towering domes and arched alcoves, while the interior boasts intricately detailed walls and ceilings adorned with glittering chandeliers and colorful painted murals. This place of spiritual significance for Orthodox Christians is easily recognizable by its monumental dome with columns visible from various points in Targu Mures.

very ornate and nice inside better than many similar around town and the region, it would be good if there was an information booth in here to lead tours & answer questions

It's a nice place to visit, beautiful building which suits the style of the city centre, with great architectural design and very well maintained.

A sinister and dark mastodon that is very out of place in the Art Nouveau city center. No photos allowed inside.

Highly recommended. Amazing productions. In such a small city, the theater is the only guaranteed location that is different every time. Don't always wait around for people, go by yourself. You'll never feel alone!

The Palace of Culture in Iasi, Romania is a stunning architectural gem from the early 1900s. This secessionist-style palace boasts ornate tiled exteriors and vibrant interiors. Inside, visitors can admire busts, glass portraits, chandeliers, marble stairways, and imported mirrors. The regally decorated concert hall and display rooms showcasing local history and art are included in the entry price.
Beautiful building with interesting stories and legends. Impressive art collection with famous national pieces I did not expect to see there. Too bad they close so early on Sundays. I will come back to savor those works properly.

Nothing wrong about this place. It looks inside interesting. There are also some other exhibitions if you are lucky enough. To me was the best part the rehearsal of the musical band. Thank you🤩

A beautiful building, also restored by the local community. Its interior is impressive, featuring a collection of artworks by Romanian and Hungarian painters. Both the exterior and interior are beautifully painted, showcasing typical regional architecture.

Must see if you're in town. The stained glass in the Hall of Mirrors is world-class and the rest of the building is great as well. The Romanian and Hungarian art galleries are well worth a visit (good art in both, but the Hungarian galleries in particular had a wonderful set of rooms), an interesting temporary exhibition when we visited and also a great room for children to interact with the art and create their own.

It is a unique place in Marosvásárhely, the place where you will know more about the first mayor of the city (Dr. György Bernády) . We think that there are lack of informational signs (where is , what ) and in the Gallery rooms are some information written in very small letters. The price for one ticket is : 30 RON

Restaurant
Petry Grill and Wine Bistro is an elegant restaurant offering a delightful menu with special dishes that cater to both meat lovers and vegetarians. While the duck was a bit chewy, the beef steak and burger come highly recommended. The service may be slow for larger groups, but the staff is generally kind and welcoming. The ambiance is cozy with a blend of modern and rustic elements, making it perfect for a Sunday afternoon dine-in experience.
Wow. Wonderful experience of meat house. Good sized plates, quiet, high quality, superb service... 10 out of 10. Thank you for having us.
Hava V — Google review
The place sets the bar really high. The grill gives juicy meat with nice balance of taste, like when you get skewers that are cooked just right and still tender inside. Portions are fine, not too small, not too much. Besides the meat, some soups and sides make the table complete. It was not the first visit and probably not the last, because the quality stays on the same level each time. Recently for me it was a good meal and I left full and content.

One of the most beautiful restaurants in the city! Totally recommend it! If you're in for a fancy bistro style dinner this is the place. Big variety of steaks and other quality food to choose from and also big selection of wines. The atmosphere is excellent and the staff really welcoming. We went for a family dinner and everything was fantastic.
Tamás K — Google review
Exceptional food, better than some of the high-end places back home in England. However the service MUST improve if the menu is going to priced as it is. Very dull service, not very smiley or attentive. We booked for our engagement at 6pm, arrived and they basically looked at us like we were from another planet. Our table had an ash tray and a dirty glass on it, no cutlery or place mats etc. An extremely upsetting start. Food was superb but doubt we’ll return.
Tommy B — Google review
Elegant restaurant with fancy dishes. It's a delight to read the menu because everything seems special and you want to try everything. Although, mostly a meat specialized restaurant, they also serve vegetarian dishes. The entire group was happy with their order. Although tasty, the duck was quite chewy. I really recommend the beef steak and the burger. The service is a bit slow, so if you are a big group, set your waiting expectations. Also, if you want to split the bill, make sure you announce this from the beginning so that the staff can open several tabs. Make sure to book your table in advance. They offer outdoor sitting, but it's not as nice as the interior.

Everything from the fresh herbs and meat to the alcoholic drinks is carefully selected for a refined culinary experience. I cannot recommend this bistro enough! A must visit if you are in town! Probably one of the best Romania has to offer!

Sunday afternoon | Couple dine-in The welcome and the serving: We were greeted by a register keeper. We didn't have a reservation but the staff managed to find and arrange us a table. The staff was generally very kind and welcoming. The place: Coming from the chilly outside temperatures of early spring into the cozy warm temperatures of the restaurant is priceless. Also the setting is a combination of modern and rustic trend. Another "also", we stood like two meters from the kitchen and there was no smell at all coming from it. They're using very powerful fans (they aren't noisy at all) to take away the smell. Kudos to that 👍! The food: We've ordered two Gourmet Burgers. They were made with venison meat. T'was very interesting and delicious alongside with creamy, soft baked sweet potatoes. An exotic taste! Gorgeousness! ❤️ Next, we've had room for a dessert and we got: Coconut pavlova with pineapple. It was refreshing and lightweight. So, if you want a quick sweet dessert go for this. I recommend this restaurant for couples, families and gatherings.

Fast food restaurant
During lunchtime at El Greco Gyros, a small fast food restaurant primarily focused on take-out and delivery, we ordered two Chicken Shawarmas without onion along with a portion of french fries. The Shawarmas were delicious, with mouthwatering sauces and flavorsome meat. The french fries were also cooked to perfection. However, one drawback is that they only accept cash payments; card payments are not yet available.
Shaorma was great - made as per your preference/liking (with / without certain things ) Was big enough/ filling and sauce tasted nice ! Affordable too… Staff was nice and quick ! Cash/ card accepted Get ready for queuing : that means one thing food is good
Istvan N — Google review
Tuesday lunchtime | Take out I ordered two Chicken Shawarmas (without onion 🧅) and a portion of french fries. The food: The Shawarmas were great 👍! The sauces and the meat were delicious and the french fries were perfect as well! The services: Like some folks mentioned, there is no POS payment - no card payments, only cash accepted. 👎 The setting: There isn't much to say about the inside atmosphere. It's a small place, mostly made for Take out / Delivery. Other: There was also a hefty queue at the time that I was there. Have time to spare if you head there. Verdict: All-in-all, for me the effort was worth it. If you enjoy Shawarmas / Gyros, you'll definitely enjoy this one.
Danny M — Google review
My go-to choice when craving gyros in the city. More of a takeout place location-wise, but the food is worth it! Tasty and huge portions! The staff works really fast to handle the crowds often standing in line even on the street.
Alex B — Google review
The best shawarma in town. The meat inside is tender and well-spiced. I feel like it sometimes has too much sauce and it is a bit overpriced (compared to some other shawarma places i have been to). Overall, pretty good.
Likuツ — Google review
It's a good gyros/shawarma with a clear "Greek" twist in the sauces and spice. Meat is average and the food was cold, maybe you have to go at rush hour to get warm food No card payment available Although I liked the food, my gut definitely felt the burn, I had to go to the toilet seven times probably because of the greek spices

Was my favorite place to eat shaorma and gyros but yet again they raised the price now its its 30lei for one and they have introduced to weigh the meat due to this reason barely any meat and they fill it up with french fries 4times the meat. Very disappointed no longer worth the money....

Bistro Theatre, located in Targu Mures, is a cozy and intimate restaurant situated in Piata Teatrului. The owner also serves as the waiter, creating a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Despite expanding to an extra wing, the restaurant quickly fills up during peak hours due to its popularity. Most of the dishes are cooked food, making it an excellent spot for enjoying a daily menu. Visitors have praised the delicious food and impeccable service at this charming establishment.
We went today with a group of friends and we ordered different dishes. I had the Gulas Ciorba and it was very tasty, spicy enough to feel it but not too much so that you can't eat it. And the garlic bread...hmmm..very good addition! I recommend it. Very tasteful food! 😍

Burnt pizza. Rude service that automaticaly charges you 10% tip despite awful service. Claims they can't Split the Bill. Ran out of Beer and every day they close an hour early. The sign on the door says open till 23:00 yet they close at 21:30. Charged us extra beers and refused to refund money. Only after threat of calling police they refunded us. Bad place not worth your money.

The restaurant Gradina De Vara is a charming and secluded place that offers a peaceful retreat from the bustling city. The staff members are friendly and attentive, creating an inviting atmosphere that is both rejuvenating and intimate. While the music played in the background was not entirely suitable for the ambiance of the venue and was somewhat too loud, it did little to detract from the overall experience. One highly recommended dish is the vegan omelette, which is not only visually appealing but also incredibly flavorful.

Update: Now it is open but the beverages don’t rise up to the name of the place. The coffee is bland, no special design or touch to it. You would expect more from a place calling itself “Coffee workshop”. The staff are nice and polite but the barista should have some trainings regarding coffee art. Everything looks nice and tidy but the coffee shop is still closed. It was supposed to open a while ago and nothing happened. They should advertise it on the door for people to know.

Nestled next to the iconic Palace of Culture, the Prefecture Mures stands out with its striking mosaic roof and castle-like design. Although this impressive structure cannot be entered, it certainly captivates passersby. A notable feature is the statue of a she-wolf nurturing her two cubs that graces its front. The Prefecture, also known as the Administrative Palace, was constructed between 1905 and 1907 to serve as Targu Mures' City Hall.
One of the best looking county buildings that I've seen in Romania. The rooftops really stand out with those details especially at night when they are lit.

(Translated by Google) The feeling I have when I pass by this edifice (built at the beginning of the 20th century, with the aim of giving a new look to the city center) is one of respect for all those who made it, from the anonymous workers to the architects Komor Marcell and Iakab Dezsó. The construction is in secession style, enriched with ornamental motifs of popular inspiration. The building (including the tower) is covered with colored majolica. For 55 years the building was the headquarters of the City Hall. From 1962-1989 it was the seat of the county organization of PCR, and since 1990 it is the administrative seat of Mureș County. This edifice can only be admired from the outside, except for the Tower. I think that solutions can be found so that the public can also admire the interior hall built in the manner of the knights' hall in Hunedoara castle.

(Translated by Google) One of the city's magnificent buildings, which only has one major flaw: they are unfortunately very close to each other and this somewhat diminishes the individual objects' value. The 60m high tower undoubtedly makes the 'Prefectura' the most striking building, but it also impresses with its architectural features (inside and outside). The influence of Art Nouveau cannot be overlooked in the building, which was built between 1905 and 2007 and originally served as the town hall. Colorful, glittering roof tiles and strong ornamentation give the facade and the entire building a flair of lightness and movement that is completely missing from the immediately adjacent, current town hall from 1940 - although also impressive. In 1968, this magnificent building swapped roles with this - today's - town hall and was rededicated as the seat of the district council and prefecture.

(Translated by Google) The Administrative Palace (Prefectura as it is known) was built between 1905-1907 as the City Hall of the city. The building is also notable for its 60 m high tower, originally built as the city's firehouse. In the palace tower there is a clock which has dials on all four sides of the tower, and its chimes can be heard every quarter of an hour. With a short beat (weaker) at quarter time, with two beats at half an hour, three beats at three quarters. The hours strike with a more serious, stronger sound, obviously with their number.

Science museum
The Museum of Natural Sciences is a must-visit for those interested in cultural and artistic experiences. It's particularly recommended for young people and children, offering many fascinating attractions such as animal habitats, fossils, and an outstanding plant collection. The museum has recently undergone renovations, resulting in a modern, aesthetically pleasing, and well-organized space that is perfect for kids aged 6 and above. Visitors can expect interesting exhibits presented in three languages within a clean and well-maintained environment.
Really nice, recently renovated, the exhibits are nice. Not too large, spanning on two indoor levels + a greenhouse. Depending on the pace will take between an hour and an hour and a half to browse through. Perfectly suited for kids aged 6+.

It was worth waiting a few years for this museum to reopen, since it is now a modern , aesthetically pleasing, well-organized place. I recommend visiting it.

Nestled in the heart of Targu Mures, the Sinagoga Status Quo Ante stands as a testament to the rich Jewish heritage that once thrived in this vibrant city. Completed in 1899, it served as a spiritual haven for a community that peaked at over 5,000 members during the early 1940s. This architectural gem reflects Viennese synagogue design and houses a small museum showcasing fascinating historical artifacts and photographs.
Had a wonderful tour with the member responsible for this place of worship. The synagogue is beautiful inside and we learnt that the Jewish community in now only 85 strong and they cannot afford a Rabbi. They also have a beautiful museum of the Jewish history of Marosvasarhely. Definately worth a visit if you are in town.
Laszlo F — Google review
personal guided tour of both the synagogue and a small but very impactful museum for only 10 lei(ron). The whole experience was very informative and enlightening and I appreciate the enthusiasm and personal stories related by the knowledgeable guide. (from the outside, it appears closed and there is not much mention or signage of this tour or its museum that is there. the tourism information office in town should also be better informed)

31 december 12 pm. It should have been opened. It was not. The building looks really damaged on the outside, so one would think any contribution from visitors is welcome...only of it would be available for visiting. Careless attitude matching the careless building appearance.

An architectural gem, with lots of historical value. Unfortunately not well kept as the congregation gets smaller - I hope a solution will be found to jeep it maintained for future generations

The synagog in Targu Mureș is old and beautiful but not very well preserved! We visited the place within visiting hours but it was closed.
Avi W — Google review
Opens from 9- 12pm, the entrance is from the side. This is one of the three Synagogues in Tirgu-Mures, built in the style of synagogues from Vienna. It was built in 1900 when the Jewish population was quite large, There is a little museum too opened a year ago which has some very interesting historical notes and pictures. It also exhibits a genuine Torah scroll (a rare sight as in orthodox Judaism it is forbidden to display the Torah to gentiles). This is really worth visiting.
AMELIA T — Google review
The entrance is not in front of the Synagogue but through a gate to the right of the Synagogue gate. Once we got in we got a guided tour from the President of the "Jewish Community of Tîrgu-Mureș", Dr. Vasile Dub. He speaks English well in addition to several other languages. The building is nicely restored outside and inside. A visit is well worth the 5 lei entry donation. The hours are 9:30-12:30 Monday to Friday.

Cathedral
Annunciation Cathedral, originally a Greek-Catholic church, has an intriguing history that reflects the cultural shifts in Targu Mures. Once the largest Hungarian community in Romania until the 1960s, this city faced significant changes during Ceausescu's regime when it became largely closed to non-Romanian ethnic groups. The cathedral transitioned to Orthodox faith under communist rule and remains so today.
A Greek catholic church when it was built it went to the Orthodox faith after the communists came to power and it is still an orthodox church today I did not like the Romanian flag at the entrance as Christ died for all humanity not only for Romanians and, especially in a town like this which developed with the contribution of several peoples it seemed quite awkward However, the interior is breathtaking, there is no iconostasis since it's a uniate church but the walls are decorated with a plethora of wonderful icons
Klaus W — Google review
This orthodox church is of Romanian and just 100 m away from it is another church. The architecture is great, ao much money is put on it and it's strange that not many people come to it for praying. May be younger generation is less spiritualistic. Yonapot!

During my recent visit to Târgu Mureș, I stumbled upon Traveler's Coffee & Bistro, a delightful spot that quickly became a highlight of my trip. The atmosphere was inviting and the staff exuded warmth and friendliness, even as they prepared to close for the night. I indulged in their renowned burger menu, which truly lived up to its reputation—each bite was bursting with flavor! They also offer an impressive vegetarian option that did not disappoint.
Arrived in my home town late evening, going out to eat something, found this local open and decide to stop. I can't find words to describe the place, the staff or the food. All was more than excellent. Food very tasty, delicious good value for the price. Staff, not only polite, but more then helpful, friendly, despite been almost closing time and tired, they still smiling, giving advice and serving fast. Overall worth to go and have a fast meal at a reasonable price.
Zsolt-attila H — Google review
On the recommendation of many food critics from around here, we decided to try the 'best burgers in the city'. We choose to have a beef burger and a cheese burger, we were really confused by the two burgers, as they seemingly were virtually the same. We concluded that the only difference between the two burgers was the name. The burgers were nothing special, the same meat that everyone uses with no twist. The potatoes were store bought and the sauce was really garlicky. All in all a mediocre experience, I was hoping for more

Apparently a nice place, with a good price/quality, however we had to wait ~35 minutes for two burgers. This wouldn't have been a problem if they had told us about the long waiting time. The boss of the place was getting in and out the local constantly, so we could not eat that meal peaceful.

The Atlantic Restaurant, located within a cozy hotel, offers complimentary breakfast and an on-site dining experience. The eatery boasts a charming garden where guests can enjoy the summer weather while relishing in the shade and fresh air. The cuisine is delectable and reasonably priced. Minor drawbacks include slightly outdated room entrance doors with an old-fashioned locking system that allows sound to seep through and provides visibility through the door's hole. However, these issues are easily overlooked due to the spaciousness of the rooms.
Perfect place for a summer afternoon or evening. The garden is fantastic, with a kids corner as well, the food might be the best in town! The desert for sure is! the staff is very friendly and can recommend you the stuff you should try out if you were not able to decide

The atmosphere is VERY nice, romantic.... And the service is exceptional. I don't think I have ever seen such attentive waiters One time, we thought the food was too hot to start eating immediately, and, when the lady saw we weren't eating, she came almost immediately to ask us if everything was ok with the food

I really recommend this place! We had a very nice and spacious room, that had even new bagged slippers :). They have an interior garden that is absolutely fabulous during the summer hot days, a lot of shade and fresh air. The food is really tasty and at a very good price. Only small minuses: the room entrance doors look quite oldish, and it's a bit strange that they have the very old type of locking system, so sound comes inside and you can see through the hole in the door, but the size of the room makes you forget about this :). Also, the breakfast when we were there looked quite poor, but otherwise the location is lovely, and just a few minutes of walk from the center.

I expected more. I visited the butcher shop. Service was very friendly. I bought some delicious air dried beef, really perfectly seasoned, I really recommend this. Some bacon, tasty but very, very salty. It's impossible to eat more than 2 slices, after that your tongue burns from the salt. The third thing was some famous mangalica kolbasz, smoked sausage from the famous mangalica pig. This was the really big disappointment due to the fact that the sausage seems to be 90% garlic. You can not taste anything else. Wasted expensive meat, which could even be soap. You couldn't tell the difference because all that garlic.

Nice!
Tudor F — Google review
(Translated by Google) The statue of Avram Iancu is an exceptional work erected in memory of the greatest Romanian from Transylvania, who dedicated his entire life so that we Romanians in the current times can breathe the air of freedom, be masters in our country and look the neighboring nations in the eye, without ever bowing his head again.

(Translated by Google) Avram Iancu, the "Crăişorul Munţilor", was and continues to be a symbol of Romanians from Transylvania. A lawyer from a rich family, he fought for the rights of Transylvanian Romanians. The first known ancestor of Avram Iancu is Gheorghe Iancu, an Orthodox priest. Avram Iancu was considered dangerous by the authorities and was generally known for his fiery nationalist speeches. He strongly supported the rights of Romanians from Transylvania and was a follower of the revolution. Initially, the statue of Avram Iancu was a bronze equestrian sculpture, unveiled on May 10, 1930. After the Vienna Dictatorship, the statue of Avram Iancu was taken to the town of Câmpeni in Alba county. Although through the Paris Peace Conference of 1946, Transylvania returned to the territorial borders of Romania, the statue was not returned to Târgu Mureş. So, a new equestrian representation of Avram Iancu was made, this time in stone. Author being Florin Codre. Autor fiind Florin Codre.

(Translated by Google) The Franciscan Church was a Roman Catholic place of worship, dedicated to Saint Emeric (Szent Imre), the son of King Stephen (István) I of Hungary and his wife, Queen Ghizela of Bavaria, sister of Emperor Heinrich II. The church was forcibly demolished by the Romanian authorities in 1971, with the start of work on the building of the National Theatre. From the Franciscan monastery in the Center, only the baroque tower under which the entrance to the monks' cave is located has been preserved.

Wednesday late lunchtime | Take out I got here a little late for the weekday menu, 15:40/16:00, but I managed to get it! The menu was 27 RON and had: - Mexican Soup (Spicy tomato soup with beans); - Macaroni with cheese and mushrooms; - Mini tart with raspberry. All the food was delicious 😋 Just so you know, the packaging (for the takeout) was 5RON. The atmosphere of the restaurant was very cozy and had a rustic wooden theme to it. Even though I had take away food, the waiting time I spent there proved that. You can also buy on-the-go food here like: - pies; - sandwiches; - bread; - salads; - pizzas The staff was polite and friendly. I recommend this restaurant! I bet the dine-in experience is equally as good as the food.

Very nice bruch bistro. We stopped here once we arrived from the airport. The cashier was very friendly and other staffs were helpful. We tried the mushroom pie and oreo pie and they were spectacular. Besides, we also had capuccino and hot chocolate, which were also amazing. The price here was also affordable. Highly recommended place.

The food here was fantastic, really one of the nicest experiences I had in town. Instead of steak I went for a big sandwich with grilled chicken, and it was fresh and full of flavor. The staff worked quickly, always smiling and checking if everything was fine. Prices were not high, maybe like two coffees in a normal cafe, and the portion was big enough to share. I was in Targu Mures for a short visit some time ago and this place stayed in my memory, mostly because the combination of tasty food and friendly people made the meal relaxing.

I visited today this place with a friend. I had to ask for the menu after 10 minutes waiting. My friend's option was cappuccino with some ice, but she received classic cappuccino. We tried 2 cold sandwiches which were really fresh and delicious! The service is bad, the waiter forgot my drink, but I recommend the food.

The bakery and bistro is located centrally, near the orthodox cathedral. The interior is with lots of wood, rustic style. The offer is very varied, bread, sweet pastries, salty pastries, sandwiches for quick bites and many dishes in the bistro menu (it makes you wonder how they can manage so many ingredients, recipes at good quality). The prices are above mid. The food was good, portions standard. Music is nice, very strong smell of food not so nice - clearly you cannot come here for a meal on an office day with business meetings.

Coffee shop
Scarlet Cafe is a charming spot nestled in the heart of Targu Mures, perfect for those seeking a cozy atmosphere. With its inviting decor and friendly vibe, it’s an ideal place to unwind with friends over coffee or drinks. While the food options are decent and reasonably priced, some dishes may leave you wanting more in terms of flavor. The cafe features a lovely terrace that offers a peaceful escape from the bustling streets, making it great for casual meet-ups.
Great place in Targu Mures. It is very central. The service was very good, the food was great and so were the drinks and coffee. I also liked how the place looked.

Nice place with a cozy atmosphere right in the center of Targu Mures. The coffee was good, service quick, and the food decent while reasonably priced, though I think it could have been better (we had bruschetta mix and a sandwich, quantity was ok, but the taste lacking a bit). All in all, I would recommend it for a coffee or drink, since they offer great variety!

Good cafe, the staff are nice and the food looks very good on the menu. In real life They could make the portions a bit bigger. The latte tasted of nothing almost. The flavour of matcha was so dilluted. After a few more visits, the food is the same, the coffee with lavender only with a bit of syrup, not any lavender flowers, the toilet’s flush was broken and the sink needed some cleaning. Oh, well... hoping for more next time too.

Beautiful restaurant with good food, although it is a small portion size. The service is not so great, but I noticed that's not too strange in Romania, so I wasn't surprised. Overall nice, simple restaurant, would maybe go there again, but depends what choice I got.

Restaurant
The restaurant Taverna Diavolului offers excellent cuisine in a pleasant atmosphere. The food is superb, particularly their falafel bowls which are among the best falafel balls ever tasted. It's commendable that they cater to vegetarians and vegans. Their focaccia is perfectly prepared, not too greasy nor overly crispy. They have an extensive selection of freshly made teas. The service from the waitress was attentive and friendly, adding to the cozy ambiance of this secluded location.
A good looking terrace with that has caught our eye, it even has a small playground for kids in the back so the parents can stay at the table without having the kids staying at the table. We had pizza, which was very tasty but the menu was quite large so there are options to choose. They have messed up the order, but they have apologize and repaired it elegant which i have found ok. In case you cannot eat your whole pizza, they will offer you a box for take away, if not, just asknfor a box. A nice place to eat, food is good, i recommend it.

We decided to eat at this place as I have eaten in the past and have a very good memory. We went here for lunch and ordered two pizzas, potato wedges, lemonade, and Lipton peach tea. Honestly, it was a disappointing experience. The place was crowded and filled with smoke, which made it uncomfortable from the start. The pizzas took forever to arrive and when they did, they were cold. The potato wedges looked like they were cut in a hurry by a kid and were also served cold. The lemonade was nothing but sugar syrup. On top of that, the prices are on the higher side, and they even charge extra for a tiny bit of ketchup. It feels like they’re just running on their past brand name, but the quality and service are going downhill. Definitely not worth the price.

Located in the center, this place is like a pub. During cold season you can only sit inside. Quite a few stairs to use-to have in mind this detailf for those who have problems. A variety of dishes, also vegetarians and asiatic ones. The employees helpful but a lack of flexibility regarding the split of the bill. Also a little annoying to be informed at 9 o'clock is the last order for the kitchen. A meal here is an experience that worth a try.
Tripsntricks C — Google review
We had a Hungarian Gulyas soup. It is expensive for what you get. The soup was sour, with 3 small pieces of beef meat. Very expensive 31 RON for a soup. I had better gulyas soup.
Norbert B — Google review
A warm atmosphere and very welcoming staff made the whole visit feel relaxed from the start. The menu had a wide variety, so it was easy to find something for every taste. I tried a plate with grilled meat and fresh salad, while others at the table ordered soup and pasta, all of them tasty and served fast. The place is not noisy, conversations can go smooth without raising the voice. Prices are in a range that fits well with what is offered, not expensive compared with other spots around the center. In short, it was a pleasant dinner and the kind of place worth returning when looking for good food in town.

La Teo Restaurant offers a diverse menu of comfort food and creates a pleasant atmosphere. While the Hummus was enjoyable, it didn't stand out as extraordinary. However, the beef, prepared to various levels of doneness, provided an unparalleled texture experience. The service was commendable despite slight delays in food delivery; the attentive server kept customers informed and promptly brought out dishes as they were completed. Additionally, the pizza impressed with its taste and reasonable prices.

When the food arrives it's good. If you're feeling lucky try to order and hope that they don't lose or mix up your order. After waiting for 2 hours and getting telephone confirmation that the order is sent, they called me back apologising profusely that they mixed up the orders and they didn't even prepare the order. If this would have happened once, I wouldn't have said anything if this would have been a singular occurrence but sadly it wasn't. I used to order from them in the past a lot, but I'm done. Food is great, if you eat there, don't bother trying to order.
