Ski & Snowboard Areas
Located in the Austrian Tyrol, Stubai Glacier is a popular ski destination known as the 'Kingdom of Snow.' It offers a variety of trails for skiers and snowboarders, including challenging terrain like bowls and chutes. The highest point in the area is Zuckerhutl at 3,505 meters. Visitors can enjoy on-mountain dining and stunning views while skiing down one of Stubai's longest runs, which stretches over six miles.
We were very satisfied with our stay at this ski resort! The number of slopes and the variety of difficulty levels mean that everyone can find something for themselves – both beginners and more advanced skiers. The organization is top-notch, and the queues for the lifts are really short, which significantly improves the comfort of using the resort. A big plus is the free parking right next to the lift – we never had trouble finding a spot. The views are breathtaking!

Nice conditions in November 2025! This resort is one of the best in Tyrol, we like to come in autumn when ski resorts in Italy have no snow at all. If you are a freeskier or snowboarder, the Stubai Zoo snowpark is the place to be in autumn. Lots of riders and the level is very high. I recommend a visit! Of course, everything comes at a price :)

Stubaier Gletscher: A Glacier Adventure for the Whole Family We visited the Stubaier Gletscher in February during our ski vacation, and we were truly impressed by the stunning scenery and the variety of activities offered. As a family with two children (14 and 10 years old), we were looking for a destination that would cater to everyone's needs, and the Stubaier Gletscher proved to be the perfect choice. Pros: * Spectacular Scenery: The glacier offers breathtaking views, with snow-capped peaks and picturesque valleys. The kids were mesmerized by the beauty of the place and took countless photos. * Variety of Slopes: The ski area is extensive and diverse, with slopes for all skill levels. Both the children and us, the adults, found slopes that suited us perfectly. * Modern Lift Facilities: The cable cars and ski lifts are modern and fast, which significantly reduced waiting times. * Activities for Children: Stubaier Gletscher is an ideal place for families with children. There's a dedicated children's area with easy slopes and snow games. We also participated in a snowshoeing excursion, which was a memorable experience for everyone. * Snow Quality: Due to the high altitude, the snow quality is excellent, even at the end of the season. * Facilities: There are many restaurants and places where you can warm up and have a hot tea. * Proximity to Innsbruck: The glacier is located just a 45-minute drive from Innsbruck, making it easily accessible. Cons: * Crowds: During peak season, the slopes can get crowded, which can reduce the enjoyment of skiing. * Limited Challenging Slopes: Experienced skiers might find the selection of difficult slopes limited. * Altitude: The high altitude can cause health problems for some people, especially in the first few days. Recommendations for Families * Plan your vacation in advance and book accommodation and ski passes online to take advantage of discounts. * Check the weather forecast before you leave and prepare with appropriate clothing. * Consider renting ski equipment on site to avoid transporting it from Romania. * Take advantage of the activities offered for children, such as the dedicated children's area and snowshoeing excursions. * Don't forget sunscreen and sunglasses. * Make sure that you have travel medical insurance. Conclusion: Stubaier Gletscher is an excellent ski destination for families. The spectacular scenery, variety of slopes, and activities for children make this place an ideal choice for a memorable winter vacation.

The Stubai Glacier, located in the Austrian Tyrol, is one of the most reliable ski destinations in the Alps, known for its long season and excellent snow conditions. As Austria's largest glacier ski area, it offers skiing from October to June, making it a top choice for early and late-season skiing. With over 35 runs and 65 kilometers of slopes, the resort caters to all levels—from beginners to advanced skiers. The wide glacier pistes are perfect for carving, while off-piste opportunities and the Snowpark Stubai Zoo attract freeriders and freestyle enthusiasts. The lift infrastructure is modern and efficient, with the 3S Eisgratbahn gondola providing a fast and scenic ride up the mountain. Stubai is also family-friendly, offering a dedicated children's area and ski school. The views from the top, especially from the "Top of Tyrol" viewing platform at 3,210 meters, are breathtaking, stretching across the Alps. On-mountain dining is solid, with traditional Tyrolean options available at several cozy huts. The nearby town of Neustift offers a range of accommodations and après-ski options, though nightlife is generally quieter than larger resorts. Overall, Stubai Glacier was a fascinating experience that I recommend to all. It is a fantastic all-around resort, especially for those seeking reliable snow and scenic high-altitude skiing.

Phenomenal skiing/boarding setup. Loads of lifts, central rest areas, variety of slopes. 10/10.

We went to the glacier on the third week of November. Not much snow overall, but ski-able on the top levels, not enough on the lowest levels. Ski slopes was good, could be slight better but acceptable. These days with uncertain snow levels and temperatures this will change from year to year and the time you visit We only visited the large served restaurant that offered quick service and good food. We will be back.. PS. hope the ski shop at the parking kept our ski sticks we forgot the last day

Beginning of season review - 2025. The snow conditions were very challenging: little snow and a lot of ice, very hard to enjoy this even for experienced skiers. What's worse is that were a lot of rocks on the slope which did some damage to our skis. There are a lot of blue runs which felt more like reds. The restaurants have very little space so we had to constantly eat outside even when it was snowing and windy. The place is beautiful though but I wouldn't recommend to go here in the beginning of season.

Went here on a whim with my boy and we are skiing noobs. Staff was helpful and we found the place very easy to navigate. The ski rental place was mad professional and they hooked us up with everything we needed and we spent the day progressing through the bunny hills. Views were immaculate and vibes were fire 🔥 10/10

The Dresdner hut functions more as a hotel, boasting automatic glass doors at the entrance. The service is commendable, with most staff members highly motivated and efficient. Particularly noteworthy is the bartender's remarkable speed in serving drinks within 1 or 2 minutes. The beds are satisfactory, while the rooms are spacious and appealing.
Lovely stop off. Great food, friendly atmosphere and breathtaking views. I could sit here all day and watch the world go by.

Excellent mountain hut with great views and amazing food. The Kaiserschmarren is epic, a solid 9.5/10.

This is a more busy and larger mountain hut and quite professionally run. It is easily accessible with the cable car or by hiking. Food is excellent. Staff very quick and efficient. Everything was very clean.
Cara K — Google review
The staff are friendly. The showers are fantastic, with plenty of space to change. It’s basically like having your own bathroom. The toilets are clean, and the rooms are spacious and well-maintained. Tall people fit in the beds, however the doors to the room are short, so watch your head. The hut itself is quite large, as it's part of a ski resort. While the dining room is built to accommodate this, it doesn’t exactly give you that traditional hut feel. With all the ski lifts and day tourists around, it feels a bit less connected to nature. Lunch and dinner are still really good. Breakfast is also solid, with a great variety of breads, eggs, cheese, meat, yogurt, and more. The only downside is that it can get super crowded during peak times. Overall, it’s a comfortable and well-equipped place to stay, with great food and facilities. Around the hut a lot of activities can be donelike hiking, klettersteig and visiting the top of Tyrol lookout platform.

We had food at this middle station of the stubai glacier and even in the summer it is busy with walkers. Food is traditional Austria and very good recommend the Speck dumpling and the Curry Wurst and chips.
Lindsay W — Google review
If you are looking for ‘ok’ food, a good bed and don’t care about serice, this is your place! But this place is more of a highway restaurant and laks completely the atmosphere that is part of the berghutte-experience. The staff seems to be selected on their unfriendliness.

Waterfalls
Grawa Waterfall is a stunning natural attraction located near Innsbruck. A short 15-minute hike leads to the waterfall, where visitors can witness a wide stream of water cascading over rocks. The area features a beautiful viewing deck at the bottom, providing an impressive vantage point for taking in the majestic sight. Additionally, there are opportunities for relaxation, as visitors can recline on wooden chairs and feel the refreshing spray during summer.
The view is so beautiful, and it’s easy to get there by bus. The weather was nice. I think it’s better to go there in summer than in winter unless if you would like to enjoy snow and cold weather.
Anita — Google review
Beautiful place with easy access to the waterfall. I really enjoyed the journey—it was such a pleasant experience! 😍 Getting there by public transportation was simple and convenient❤️✌🏻
Sara N — Google review
Amazing experience! The short path leads to the waterfall in about 15 minutes. There is passage right behind the (very good) Grawa Alm restaurant. Entrance and parking is free.

Grawa Waterfall is a beautiful spot to chill. There are wooden chairs where you can sit back and enjoy the view. The water fall is 5 minutes away from the parking area. You do not need any entry ticket.

Grawa Waterfall is one of the most impressive in the Austrian Alps. Easily accessible, with a short scenic walk and viewing platforms, it offers breathtaking views and the powerful sound of crashing water. A must-visit if you're near Stubai Valley!

Lovely waterfall well worth a visit. Suitable for a short 30 minute family walk or follow the more exciting, we'll sign posted, wild wasser weg trail up to the sulzenaualm (just over an hour), the latter not suitable for pushchairs or probably small children. The waterfall is visible from the bus stop so hard to miss - the bus takes approx 1hr10mins from Innsbruck and costs 13€ EACH WAY - CASH - the grawa alm is also cash only - dont miss the last bus back to Innsbruck- it's a long way back!

It was a great place to visit offering scenic views, adventurous hikes from 10 minutes to 2 hour long hikes. It also has a convenient bus stop right next to it and is very close to a popular skiing spot.

I went to this place Last August. We took a bus from the main station, and I must say, it had a breathtaking view. It's worth going there and spending some time. It's free to visit the place. But you need to take a bus ticket, not included in the sightseeing bus for the Innsbruck card.

Schlick 2000 ski center AG is a picturesque ski resort with diverse runs suitable for all skill levels, including a freestyle and snowboard park as well as a dedicated kids' area. In the summer, visitors can enjoy stunning green landscapes that offer a different experience from Stubai Glacier. The resort provides ample parking and efficient lift queues. It's an ideal destination for families, offering numerous slopes and various sports activities throughout the seasons.
Schlick 2000 is an incredible ski resort! The slopes are diverse and well-maintained, offering something for every level of skier, from wide open runs to more challenging routes. The views from the top are absolutely stunning, with the surrounding mountains creating a perfect backdrop. The lifts are modern and efficient, and the resort never feels overcrowded. Après-ski is great too, with cozy spots to relax after an awesome day on the slopes. Overall, a fantastic place to ski – I’ll definitely be coming back!
Dominik K — Google review
Great little ski area, with some really nice steep runs off the top. We came late in the season and it was a little icy but I can imagine on a fresh pow day there would be lots to explore. Really fun top to bottom run too. And some good bars to enjoy the views. Recommended if you're in stubaital!
Oli L — Google review
By 2pm the slopes were pure moguls, which makes it very hard for beginners. The resort was quite packed on top of that. I'd recommend coming early, then it's probably nice. A lot of really good side country for freeriding enthusiasts. The garage smells and looks like it hasn't been cleaned in 20y - we literally felt like we had inhaled directly from a tailpipe of a car after walking back to the car. The parking ticket/coin machine broke and we had to wait 30 minutes in the cold before we could leave.
Johannes S — Google review
Is a good place for ski holidays but the piste are not wide enough. When a lot of people on the mountain, you must to pay more attention not to have the collision. The blue piste 6 and 7 are not easy. Better to have higher skills and then come here to have fun.
昨夜西風 — Google review
Enjoyed Schlick2000 very much. The beginner slope 15 at Mittlestation is great for a warm up on first day. There are a good enough variety of slopes of various degrees of difficulty, although some blue slopes verge on being red and bits of red slopes are rather black. Mostly well groomed, some a bit icy in places (7a, 16). Favourite runs were 1 (lovely long scenic descent), 12 and 5. The descent from Mittlestation to the bottom (16) was alright once but too narrow with many sharp turns and rather icy- not so enjoyable. It seemed better groomed on subsequent days, but preferred to enjoy it from the cable car :) Panorama restaurant at the top is new, beautiful with good facilities, lovely views of the valey and reasonable prices, considering you are on top of the mountain! The bar near Mittelstation is ok too but it empties early. The bar at bottom station had a proper apres-ski vibe only at the weekend, on weekdays it was rather quiet with disappointing music. Good free bus service also. Runs on time and it's better than taking the car. The bus drops you off at the gondola whereas if you drive, you still have to walk quite a bit from the car park- and if busy, you might have a long walk or have to take the bus anyway! Would definitely come back to Schlick 2000, only probably stay in another town in the valey with a bit more going on (Neustift?). Thank you for a great holiday! Keep up the good work! 👌👏
SabsAnna15 G — Google review
"Every mile on the slopes brings you closer to mastering your skills. The feeling of conquering the highest peaks and pushing your limits is truly amazing. With every run, you learn something new about yourself and gain more confidence. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to challenge themselves and experience the thrill of reaching new heights – both literally and figuratively. It's a journey of growth and satisfaction you won't forget!"

Good range of blue and red runs. Run back to Base lift is narrow and difficult even though a blue. Get the lift if you are unsure.

We went by the cables to 2100m, and hiked the nature trail. The trail is built for kids. We learnt about the forest and its habitants. The view was amazing. The kids where excited from the height of the trail. The temperature was perfect at the end of September.

The Top of Tyrol observation deck offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains, glaciers and valleys. It is located at the end of Stubai Valley, just south of Innsbruck.
In the beginning I didn’t think it would be that breathtaking (on the pictures it looked more modest comparing to Nebelnhorn that is 1000 m lower). But in real life it appeared just wonderful. Definitely worth visiting. And the restaurant on the level below serves very tasty meal. If you go from Innsbruck side, you will also catch 3 gorgeous waterfalls on the way right next to the road. PS: photos were made in August, so there’s almost no snow there in that period

The highest point in Tyrol, with a great view of the surrounding mountains. The short walk to the viewing platform is worth it, even with the thin air at 3200 meters. If you're ever in Tyrol, and like mountain views, this is a must do!

Going there was an incredible experience. Its such a massive set up. We went on a hot day end of August and it was nice to see the snow. However, the glaciers were melted so couldnt experience it. It would be amazing to see in the winter.

Very busy because of the rodelbahn so quite a queue to go up. The water play area was great for kids and popular but we loved the tranquil lake at the end. Interesting panorama nature walk at the top. Family who went down the rodelbahn didn't enjoy it as they felt the cars weren't big enough to hold you in round the corners!
Jean B — Google review
The luge looks amazing but unfortunately few people get to enjoy it as they shut it down as soon as there is any indication of rain, which is very often here. So you pay for several rides on the luge but they scam you out of your money by shutting it down and refusing you your money back. But if you are lucky and the weather stays good it is a beautiful place.

The Grawa Alm in the Stubaital is a must-visit for anyone in the area. This Austrian restaurant offers a wide variety of traditional Tyrolean dishes, such as Kaiserschmarren, bacon and Tyrolean Grostl, cheese spaetzle, and Almjause. It is located conveniently on the way to the glacier, making it easy to find.
This Alm is a hidden treasure! The food was amazing, and the views of Grawa waterfall are breathtaking. You can walk just 10 minutes to reach an observation deck for a relaxing view of the waterfall. Additionally, there are different viewpoints of the waterfall within a 10 to 20-minute walk. It's a perfect spot to enjoy delicious meals amidst stunning natural beauty and explore the surroundings on foot. A viewpoint with best value for effort!

Traditional restaurants turned a little bit into tourists. Food: Traditional dishes served in big portions. High quality of ingredients, but do not expect anything fancy. Service: At first it took a while for the waiters to spot us. We were seated in a kind of separate room. Food also took some time to be served. Everyone speaks perfect English Place: Traditional style restaurant. Great for a stop and enjoying a small walk to the waterfall Price: Fair enough prices. NO CREDIT CARDS. (No cell coverage)

Ladies, gentlemen, kids, dogs, cats, Bonjour And that's all. We have a message: We ate an apple pie (apfel strudel) in this establishment. The establishment is well placed (grawa falls view, ladies and gentlemen). The establishment has only two toilet cells available (what if one of them is stinky and the other one is occupied? What do you do? I'm confused 🤔). The apple pie (apfel strudel) was solid (vanilla sauce ok). Have a good one. Cheers 🥂

Unfortunately, we were very disappointed. Last year, we visited and ordered the soup with dumplings, which was delicious. This year, we decided to visit the restaurant again. The dumpling itself was good, but unfortunately, the soup was just water. The broth should have been dark, as the menu described it as a beef broth, but what we received was practically just water with chives and no flavor at all. Sadly, we won’t be coming back here again. To illustrate, here’s how the soup looked last year compared to how it looks now:

Gasthof Dorfkrug is a charming restaurant located in Fulpmes, Stubaital. The atmosphere is superb and relaxing, making it a must-visit for anyone in the area. There are much much better restaurant choices within 50 metres walk. Nice looking from outside, but the food quality was well below nearby restaurants we tried here before. The food quality (tried 4 dishes) were all really below average ; greasy and low value ingredients. The service was pushy and poor; they insisted on paying extra €2.50 for tap water, allegedly customary in Tirol, (which is not true!), and billed for 3 beers (when only 2 had been served). Not recommended! Addendum to the reply: We had only one Jag of Water (not 2!); might be it was a simple mistake to overcharge, but it should not happen on two beverage items. In regards to the quality of food, I am sorry, our family was in united agreement that none of the dishes was of anticipated quality and certainly not value for the money. We won’t come back and cannot recommend!

Food is served only after 18.00, until then you can serve desserts and drinks like a regular coffee. The location is excellent near the church, right in the town center. The beer was heavenly and the food was also out of this world. Waiters are polite and friendly. Definetly will return here.

The waitress was very rude and unfriendly. Unfortunately, the experience of the visit on beautiful sunny Sunday afternoon was really spoiled and we had to leave. Thats a shame for such a nice spot. The behavior against the guest should be appropriate!

Today I had the pleasure of having dinner at Dorfkrug restaurant. There I enjoyed one if not the best dinner that I had in the last week and a half in Austria. The service was really kind with us, amazing presentation of the dishes and a meal full of flavor and good memories. The menus are traduced for non German speakers like me, (at the end of the menu). Thank you Dorfkrug team!

Restaurant
Nestled in the heart of the mountains, Gaststube Schaufelspitz is a culinary gem that promises an unforgettable dining experience. After exploring several other mountain eateries, stumbling upon this delightful spot was a true revelation. The ambiance is inviting, and securing a reservation early in the day proved to be well worth it. The menu boasts an array of delectable dishes that cater to various palates.
After a couple of false starts at other mountain restaurants, Gamsgarten (2/5), Dresdner Hitte (1/5), Eisgrat Self Service (3/5) we found this place. It wasn’t easy to book online so we walked in and made a reservation first thing in the morning. About 5 minutes into our meal we booked the rest of our lunches for the week - it was that good. The Avocado bowl with fresh prawns, amazing! Fish with lemon butter sauce - incredible. Even when I was “slumming it” with the pulled pork burger it was a true gourmet burger. The hot drinks were also lovely - hot fresh lemon with ginger and honey was REAL lemon juice, and the different hot chocolates were to die for. We are foodies who appreciate fine food so if you are like us and don’t want to eat cafeteria sausages and dumplings each day come here on day one and make your bookings.

Really fine food, well balanced taste, even the bread and butters were scrumptious. Bonus points for the exquisite glassware for our Franciacorta.

Food tasted great and were in good proportions. Had a very pleasant experience. Tiroler groestl was really good. It's an Austrian dish with meat, onion, potatoes and a sunny side up egg on top. Mix it then dig in. Fritatasuppen is a must try too. It's a simple Beef broth with strips of crepe seeming like noodles. Reminded me of a taiwanese beef noodle soup with dumpling. The restaurant was almost full capacity when we came in at almost 2pm... And of course love me some caffeine on the side as always!

"Restaurant - Pizzeria - EssBar" in Mieders offers a diverse selection of food and drinks, including delicious pizza, Italian delicacies, organic dishes, refreshing cocktails, as well as halal, vegan, and vegetarian options. The cozy atmosphere provides a perfect setting to unwind and forget about the daily routine. With indoor and outdoor seating available, it's an ideal spot for families or larger groups. Guests have praised the friendly staff who are accommodating even with special requests.
Amazingly tasty, great variety and mega big (klein size) pizzas. The service is as good as but the cherry is the view. So value money!? 100%
Raimundo A — Google review
Nice restaurant with outdoor and indoor seating options. The menu has a lot of options but the taste was rather average. The "small" pizza I had was large with approx. 12 inches but tasted more like store bought from the freezer. This is a great place for families or larger groups to come together with decent prices.
Emmi P — Google review
Broad selection of acceptable raste and quality. However, we found the food just a bit weak - the pizza dough was rather tasteless, and the Essbar pan contained more broth than sauce which made it less enjoyable. Overall, still good, but not five stars

For day 2, we recommend exploring the northeast side side of town. Start the day off with Hochstubai-Liftanlagen, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Heimatmuseum Neustift. All together, your day would be filled with about 7 hours of non-stop fun.

I highly recommend the ski resort Elferlifte Neustift, as it offers a thrilling sledging experience that is both enjoyable and affordable. You can easily rent a sledge here, but don't forget to come prepared with winter clothing and protective gear like a helmet and ski goggles. Additionally, this resort is an excellent choice for paragliding enthusiasts, offering breathtaking views and exciting tobbogan roads.
They rent sledge / toboggan here! Not too many people. Good sledge slopes 👌

Amazing place with great views. I went there in the summer and the hike was great. They have paragliding if you're interested as well.

so lovely staff and helpful advice. Beautiful walks possible up there! but best with proper Austrian mountain hiking shoes!
J B — Google review
We went sledging here on our day off from the Glacier skiing. It was a great day, and cost us about 20 euros a head to get a cable car up the mountain, and sledge back down. The views are amaze-balls. And unlike the busy ski slopes you can stop on the way down and be in silence, for a few minutes along with tweeting birds and the still alpine air. There is a quaint restaurant at the top of the lift, and reminds me of the Austria of my youth, very cosy, lots of wood, lots of chips. Guy looking after the sledges was very friendly.
Dorky T — Google review
Only been sledding here but it's a great place. You need to check online if it's open before going there, as sometimes the snow in the valley is not good enough, which means the Rodelbahn is closed (and for good reason) the track can be bumpy but it's long and so much fun!

Flight school
Experience the thrill of tandem paragliding with Fly Stubai, where you can glide over the breathtaking Stubai Alps and take in stunning views of the picturesque Stubaital. Launching from popular spots like Elfer and Schlick 2000, this adventure promises an unforgettable journey through the skies. The professional team ensures your safety while providing clear instructions, allowing you to enjoy exhilarating aerial acrobatics if you're up for it!
An amazing experience where we were a bit scared but we were given super clear and simple instructions and we felt super safe during the entire flight to an extend where we were comfortable doing some stunts/sharp drop and turns. Would highly recommended as instructors were super friendly and experienced!
Lokesh P — Google review
What an amazing morning! The lift was closed so we had to start from lower and unfortunately the ride was shorter than I was hoping , but it was an absolutely gorgeous day regardless and very nice scenic view. It felt really safe, and very comfortable. I would love to do this again!

Fantastic experience that I will remember for a long time! It was wonderful, exciting and fun with an amazing view. My thermal flight was performed in August 2025 and my flight time was within the promised range. The pilot and other staff were very nice and professional. The descent and landing were adjusted to my wishes, after which I got to experience aerial acrobatics. I am satisfied with the delivered pictures and videos. Highly recommended!
Jesper L — Google review
I had an outstanding experience with Fly Stubai and would highly recommend them to anyone. The team was professional, transparent, and made me feel completely safe throughout the process. I especially appreciated their fair and flexible billing approach—they only invoiced me after the flight, and only for the flight that was actually completed. I had originally booked a longer flight, but due to weather conditions, we had to shorten it. True to their word, they only charged me for the shorter flight Shoutout to Tobias for the fantastic experience!
Hans-Georg W — Google review
Such a great experience! Lorenz called the day before to rearrange our time due to changing weather conditions - thank you for making sure I could still have my flight! Very glad I paid extra for the go pro pictures and video, definitely worth it

Amazing experience! I had Rouven as my pilot, and he was great! Would recommend this experience to anyone! You must try it! So peacefully silent as you glide, (as long as you are not asking questions like I was)... so easy to take off and land. The views of the valley are out of this world!

Stubaital is a picturesque alpine valley that offers a variety of activities for nature lovers and adventure seekers. The area features a ski resort, hiking trails, and a glacier, providing vast mountain views. It is known for its rich history and multicultural background, with villages and towns famous for their customs and traditions. Visitors can enjoy hearty cuisine at guesthouses and inns while taking in the breathtaking surroundings.
This place is must in your life. Especially small children will love it. We regularly visit this place after Christmas time. They have the longest sledge slope I think 6 km through the forest in Neustifft. Stubai glacier is always covered with snow because this valey faces north. Great skiing area also for cross country skying. Not crowded because of huge area.simply chec onlone web camera and you will see. Do not forget to visit small local Church for piece. Just try. 🥰

Stubaital – A Paradise for Hikers, Nature Lovers & Peace Seekers Stubaital is one of the most breathtaking valleys in the Austrian Alps. Whether you're here for a serious hiking adventure or just want to unwind in nature, this place delivers in every season. The hiking options are endless. From easy forest paths to high alpine routes, there's something for every level. What really stands out is the number of cozy Hütten (mountain huts) scattered throughout the valley—you can plan hut-to-hut hikes for multiple days, or just stop for a Kaiserschmarrn and a drink with a view. Some great ones include: Innsbrucker Hütte Dresdner Hütte Franz-Senn-Hütte Sulzenauhütte (near the incredible Sulzenau waterfall) Speaking of waterfalls—the Grawa Wasserfall is a must-see. It’s wide, powerful, and right off the main road with a short trail that leads to a peaceful wooden platform. If you're up for more, the trail to Grawa Alm or onward to Sulzenau Alm is pure magic: waterfalls, alpine streams, pine forests, and glacier views all in one. Stubaital is peaceful but not empty—it has a perfect balance between well-marked trails and untouched alpine wilderness. The Stubai Glacier also adds a dramatic backdrop to many hikes.

Mountain peak
Elferspitze, located in the Elfer area of Stubai Valley, is easily accessible by cable car from Neustift. It's known for being less crowded compared to other areas in Stubai, making it ideal for those looking to delve deeper into the region during a longer stay. Visitors can enjoy a wonderful and short tour from the Elferbahn mountain station with a walking time of approximately 2 hours at an altitude gain of about 750 meters.
Very steep hike/climb! Not very family friendly. I would not bring my kids here till they are grown up or you wont be able to relax the 2nd half of the climb for 1 minute..... But beautiful views!! and a feeling of achievement when you reach the top!!

(Translated by Google) Highly recommended! Great beautiful climb! We took the Elferbahn up and walked from there. Very green with lots of flowers in the summer. The path is very varied from gravel, grass to large rocks. In between beautiful views of the glacier behind. If you want to reach the cross, you will have to climb a bit, because it is only accessible via a cable. We walked with our dog (aussie). The route was doable, but the cross cannot be reached with a dog (until the last climb, about 10m below the cross) so we climbed there alternately! (Original) Echt een aanrader! Geweldige mooie klim!

For the summit itself, you'll want to have some experience. To get to the top, you have to climb a bit between the mountain, and there's very little space at the top. The Elferhütte Restaurant is a charming mountain hut located on the Elferberg, offering stunning panoramic views of the Pinnistal valley. It's accessible via an easy family hike with playgrounds along the way. The staff is friendly, and while it operates on a self-service basis, they provide good coffee and cake. Some visitors have expressed concerns about guests bringing their own food and taking up space without making purchases. However, many appreciate the great atmosphere and beautiful scenery.
We stopped for lunch while hiking, the schnitzel was very good for a reasonable price at a ski location at 18 euro. Very nice location around 30 min walk from lift. Only problem was that they didn’t take cash
Åke E — Google review
The location is very nice and food is on average so, overall the review should be higher but, I found unacceptable and very unfriendly that the toilet is at cost, also for clients (and kids) that ordered a full meal and drinks. This is unfortunately an attitude of pure arrogance of the people managing the place, who are only able to take advantage of the undeserved good fortune of running a place in a beautiful location, with no ability to welcome customers with kindness and service.
Cesare B — Google review
Super rude and unwelcoming. The hut 200 hm lower at the lift station is much nicer, friendlier, and has better food. If you can, avoid this place, it is not indicative of the true alpine hut experience.

I'm sure this place has potential but the food was not good. This is the only hut on our 2 week Austrian mountain holiday that has disappointed us... falling well short of the standards of friendly hospitality we have enjoyed from every other mountain hut we have visited. My 8 year old daughter ate half of her clearly frozen and microwaved burger before throwing it up.... having urgently run to the lavatory and paid 50c to do so. (For the same price the next day our family had a far superior meal in friendlier surroundings at Dresdnerhutte on the glacier.)
Andrew K — Google review
Really good views for a cold beer or anything off the shelf. I recommend avoiding anything prepared onsite as it is substandard. The owner is also a bit disrespectful, does not receive advice well, as you can see by the answers here. To the owner: Sir, you need to take the contributions/comments of the customers as gold, I mean, we can help you improve your business. In my case, I am not a coffee expert, I am a human like you, my tongue and nose work like yours. I am happy to pay your prices or even higher, but saving money on coffee beans is annoying your customers and not going to help your business.
Javier M — Google review
Great view and nice atmosphere. I wish the menue would have been a bit easier to read, too busy and too small, so that I wouldn't have missed the opportunity to order one of my favorite meals. I didn't mind paying for the bathroom, which actually makes sense since everything has to be brought up and then down the mountain. After climbing up there the Radler tasted exceptionally well. Will come back.

We were very happy with the burgers at Big Mike's on a rainy Friday! The toppings and sauce were perfect quantities and the patties themselves were tasty and a good size. The burger was cooked a little too rare for me but the staff were very friendly and happy to put it back on the grill for me for a bit longer! They even cleaned up my plate and gave me a new plate! The fries were also terrific and the garlic dip is a must! Definitely reccomend !

Restaurant
Nestled in the picturesque surroundings of Neustift im Stubaital, the charming Jagdhütte is a delightful retreat that attracts both locals and visitors alike. This cozy Tyrolean restaurant offers a rustic ambiance perfect for unwinding after a day of adventure. Guests can savor an array of delectable dishes, including mouthwatering venison medallions paired with rich ragout and fluffy dumplings, all while enjoying stunning mountain views. The friendly staff adds to the welcoming atmosphere, ensuring everyone feels at home.
We specially searched a restaurant to try venison (deer). This is a very cozy typical Tyrol restaurant. Staff very very friendly. Italian speaking also. We tried mixed salad with grilled cheese (a huge portion), venison (deer) medallions and ragout - served with delicious dumplings, potatoes and mountain berry sauce. Just outstanding. Great views over mountains.

Lovely place, great service and great food. Friendly for the kids and both inside and outside is nicely decorated. Can recommend 👌
RJ — Google review
Decent food, which is overpriced. The view and atmosphere make somewhat up for that. The staff is trying too hard to be 'authentic' and funny, can be a bit pushy at times. A good place for a short rest and a Radler at best.

The food was very good. Fillet steak 300g was €30 and cooked to perfection. Served with roast potatoes and green beans. Delicious. Service was friendly and not overbearing. Went with a table of ten not too busy on a Thursday. Would recommend for filling food after a days skiing.

Great food, great atmosphere but when our food took over an hour to arrive, long after tables sat near us. They were unable to compensate with more than a schnapps. For the best restaurant in Neustift it really needs to work on its service.

Day 3

Off the beaten path
For day 3, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Kids Park Klaus Äuele. Not quite as popular as Stubai Glacier, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 9 hours.

Naturschauplatz: Elfer Gratzengrübl is a great spot to relax and have a snack before continuing your hike. Although there is no signage for the hiking trails, it offers a pretty and magnificent view, making the hike up from the Pinnistal worthwhile. The short climb is definitely worth it because the view and the atmosphere around the stone are unique. A place to marvel and linger. Ideal as a stopover on a hike through the region. Oberissalm is a picturesque alpine pasture located at the end of a valley, offering breathtaking views of monumental mountain peaks and blooming meadows. Visitors can enjoy delicious Tyrolean delicacies and refreshing beverages served by friendly innkeepers upon arrival. The spot is accessible by car or bike, with parking available at a slightly cheaper rate than the larger lot further away. While it's not possible to stay overnight, the stunning nature and charming chapel nearby make it a worthwhile stop on your journey.
This place is a hidden gem, absolute heaven for nature lovers!! On the narrow roads leading to this spot, there can be herds of cows blocking the way. They take their own sweet time to move, so you need to be patient😃(reminded me of India!!) The path that goes along the stream is very scenic.

Zuckerhütl

Mountain peak
Zuckerhütl is a prominent peak in the Stubai Alps, offering a challenging ascent and rewarding summit views of surrounding mountain ranges. It is part of the Seven Summits, with its highest point at 3,507 meters on the Stubai Glacier. The region also features hiking trails like the one leading to Elferspitze mountain, providing breathtaking views of iconic peaks such as Serles.
(Translated by Google) A ski tour classic par excellence. The last climb to the Zuckerhütl is tough again, not recommended without crampons and an ice ax, or even with a rope if necessary. On the descent, the last pull to the Zuckerhütl is unfortunately sometimes a pull in the opposite direction and at the end the counter climb from the Pfaffenferner goes up again, which then costs a few more grains, which you hopefully don't have left over 😉 (Original) Ein Skitourklassiker schlechthin. Der letzte Anstieg aufs Zuckerhütl hats dann nochmal in sich, ohne Steigeisen und Pickel nicht zu empfehlen, ggf. sogar mit Seil. Nestled in the picturesque Neustift im Stubaital, Volderauhof is a captivating restaurant that enchants every visitor. The charming atmosphere sets the stage for an impressive culinary journey, featuring a delightful array of traditional Tyrolean dishes alongside international specialties and exquisite wines. Many guests find themselves returning multiple times during their stay, drawn by the mouthwatering offerings like zwiebelrostbraten, schnitzel, and kaiserschmarrn—each dish surpassing expectations.
We tried to go for dinner without reservation, but it was, of course, completely full. We finally made it for lunch and we enjoyed it so much. The owner was very nice, and he even said that we were ordering too much food (I always appreciate when they do that instead of not saying anything). We ordered the roast beef and a tiroler dish that came with a side salad. Everything was very very good, we ended up completely full and completely happy :D I only missed some options for dessert, but it was okay because we ate so much. The coffee was also very good. I totally recommend the place. And it’s dog friendly!

It cannot be more fresh than this, I’m in love with this beautiful little super authentic cottage! Place to sit and enjoy, not a QUICK lunch.. If you’re in a hurry go somewhere else, you don’t deserve this authentic experience!! 💕 Thank you ❤️💕

Absolutely incredible food. We’ve good fried and smocked trout and Keiserschmarrn. Service is quiet quick and friendly! This Alm is probably one of the reason for us to come one more time to Stubaital ❤️

We loved this place. The smoked trout was phenomenal, and the view was divine! Would highly recommend!

We came at 17:25, program show that they are open till 18:00.. they say they are closed and they don't serve nothing anymore!

Great fresh trout dinner. Would have given 5 stars if the staff would have been a bit friendlier. Nonetheless, I'd go back just for the food and atmosphere alone.

Went here for lunch and did not expect too much, but the food was amazing and big portions too. Highly recommend.

Everything was amazing and locally sourced! Can’t wait to eat there again!

It's really special place. I would recommend visiting on rainy days especially. The interior is dark but has a really romantic feeling. There are very few and small windows. So almost no views from inside. Outside there nothing special. The terrace is nice but close to the main road and there are no waterfalls to be seen from the terrace. Just the river. Food was good but service could be better. We where sheltering from the rain. When we where the only ones left. We got the feeling they where really busy and didn't have time to serve drinks for us and kind of forgot about us. But they did stay friendly.

Swimming pool
StuBay Badeparadies is a delightful oasis for relaxation, especially after an exhilarating day on the slopes. This charming facility features both indoor and outdoor swimming pools, complete with hydromassage options that soothe tired muscles. Families will appreciate the two fun slides designed for children, ensuring they have plenty to keep them entertained. The water temperature is pleasantly warm, making it inviting year-round.
This place isn’t big, but it is very clean including water in the pool. The outside pool has very warm water which creates nice contrast during winter. Spacious lockers and well organized changing room with plenty hair dryers. I recommend for families with smaller children as this place is really for them.

Perfect place to relax after skiing... swimming pool, waterslides, whirpools, outdoor salted pool - very nice for our family 👍🏽
Martin H — Google review
More cleaning needed, no one is mopping the wet floor for hours. The salt pool is very cold and there is hardly any salt in it.
M B — Google review
Nice pool to relax after a week of hiking. Once inside we found out that the outside area was closed, unfortunately. They could have reduced the entrance fee, which is quite a bit for a few hours of swimming. We took the 4 hour option. Which is a bit long for only the inside pool. The waterslides are fun, the warmer pools relaxing, and the 25m pool good to swim a while.
Zany R — Google review
They made us pay 2,2 € extra for exiting 5 minutes later... Ridiculously rude service...
Yakob S — Google review
Most ridiculous place ever! First of all very small and no security, children everywhere! We paid for 4 hours thinking we will stay but after an hour swimming in the pee we decided to leave within an hour and could not get the money back!

It was clean and the staff was very nice. The restaurant let it down though. It was a disgrace.
Stevie B — Google review
We decided to go there spontaneously on a Friday evening as a group of three. It‘s not so big but pretty clean and offers variety of saunas with different infusions in every hour. Since we were late, we could try only Alpine-herbs and menthol infusions and they were both refreshing. Moreover, I liked the salt- camomile oil mix peeling offered in the entrance of the steam bad. It gives a very nice feeling of smoothness in your skin afterwards. By the way, like all other European countries, all saunas they offer are naked-saunas. So, no clothes allowed other than your towel inside. In addition to all of these, the prices in the restaurant were completely okay, not too expensive and the service is quite quick. The burger we ordered was very tasty. 😋 The entrance fee for pools and sauna together costs about 27€. There is also an ice cream vending machine in the entrance of the facility if you would like to cool down after sauna experience.

Mountain peak
Hiking and backcountry skiing are available on a rugged summit with a cross and expansive alpine vistas. The Serles area can be accessed via the Serlesbahnen cable car from Mieders, and it is an ideal destination for families. There are numerous activities to enjoy, making it possible to spend a whole day or just a few hours here. The experience in May was enjoyable and not overly challenging, with magnificent views on offer.
Got to the start of the hike at 2am which ended up being to early as we got to the summit quicker than expected, there is plenty of space to park up near the monastery, you must open the gate yourself to road that leads up to Mariawald Abbey you will be stopped and charged 6€ upon exiting for use of the road/car park. Once ready to go, walk straight up past the monastery till your at the rear of the buildings there’s a pole with yellow signs pointing in the direction you’ll need to go then a little gate you pass through you’ll now be on the track it’s very well marked out. It took us 2hrs 10mins to get to the summit we walked at a very steady pace and did not stop for breaks, even though it’s summer it’s very cold at the summit pack a good warm jacket and hot tea. For the most part the walk is unsheltered so is very hot on the way down, pays to take sun block. The decent took 1hr 40mins. Enjoy

Serles!! I've been seeing this mountain for a while from Innsbruck and in August decided to summit it. The journey took I think 8 hours in total: I started from Kampl at 7:30 and it took me 1 hour to reach Alpengasthof Wildeben where I had a quick breakfast and moved on. Since the majority of people hike this mountain from Maria Waldrast, I appeared to be the only one person on a trail til Serlesjöchl😅 From what I knew, a week before there was a huge thunedrstorm, and the trail there was very rocky and slightly dangerous. But when I reached Serlesjöchl (2.384m, 9:40AM), I saw many hikers ascending/descending Serles already and calmed down a bit. One hour later I reached the summit of Serles! It was quite a challenge for me because this was my first time scrambling + the ladder in the beginning was also a surprise for me. But overall, no exposed sections, everything's pretty much relaxed if you're not afraid of heights, and there're always plenty of people because it's a popular mountain. The weather and the views were fantastic, so I spent around 30 mins on top and then went down but this time – via Maria Waldrast. That's why the route was a little longer and I finished the hike in Matrei am Brenner at 14:30. Strong recommendation for everyone who wants to test their stamina at 2500m+ and just want to summit a well-known mountain!

I climbed this stunningly beautiful mountain when I was 17 back in the mists of times nearly 60 years ago. We were on holiday in Fulpmes at the time. There were five of us, my elder brother and me, our parents and a girl cousin. It was a hot, cloudless day with stunning views into 3(?) countries and the new Europebrucke looking like a white scar in the distance. Four of us made it to the summit as Mum didn’t like heights! We saw choughs flying around the summit having never seen them before. Stunning day but my knees didn’t like the return journey down. Don’t think they’ve ever been the same since, and they were not helped by descending UK mountains either!

(Translated by Google) Personal rating: View: 8 out of 10 Hike difficulty: 3 out of 10 Endurance difficulty: 4 out of 10 Hike on June 12, 2025: The mountain is easy to climb. From the western side, which we hiked, it's a bit harder to get to the final climb through the gravel field. If you prefer something a little easier, the route from the eastern side, starting at Maria Waldrast, is recommended.

Best restaurant in all of Austria! I had Spagetti a la Vongule and the dish was extraordinary- made me feel like home even though I don't often order seafood, but the pink-haired waitress recommended it and I couldn't say no to that warm smile! 11/10!

Really wonderful restaurant. Excellent menu with large portions - and extremely reasonably priced wine (really excellent bottles around €27). We came two nights in a row and all had a lovely meal. The host went out of her way to welcome us, and was very entertaining. Perfect post-skiing.
