Park
Parque Natural do Sudoeste Alentejano e Costa Vicentina is a stunning coastal area with dramatic cliffs, unspoiled beaches, and diverse wildlife such as raptors and sea otters. The region offers a variety of beach experiences, from tranquil azure waters to remote golden sands backed by red cliffs. Along the coastline, you'll encounter charming waterfront towns with options ranging from peaceful settlements perched near sea cliffs to lively expat-frequented areas.
Absolutely stunning views! The hike is actually easy, however, definitely wear some hiking boots. Some of the areas are super steep and the rocks are loose. But getting to the top is definitely worth ever bit of the sweat getting up there!

One of the best places I have ever been. If you need to relax and enjoy the silence staying in contact with nature and being surrounded by beautiful landscapes, Costa Vicentina Is the Place to be.

Wild and incredible landscapes where sea meets land amodst breathtaking cliff drops. Beautiful sunsets. Hiking trails galore. Secret beaches.
Candice D — Google review
Fabulous coastline with much historical significance. A delight for anyone who enjoys hiking trails high up on the cliffs, unspoiled beaches and quaint little surf shack type places to eat. Some off roading/rough driving may be required but we were good in our little saloon car. 4 wheel drive wasn't necessary for any of the spots we visited.
Kym M — Google review
We hiked back and forth from the Fort of Arrifana to Clérigo. Challenging at first, but the stunning views make you instantly forget your sweat!
Gillis G — Google review
The Southwest Alentejo Natural Park is an absolute gem. We were able to park the van easily in several scenic spots, which made exploring super convenient. There are so many breathtaking places to catch both sunrise and sunset, each view more stunning than the last. It's the perfect setting for a relaxed road trip with friends: peaceful, wild, and full of hidden beaches and cliffside views. Great vibes all around, whether you're just chilling, hiking, or watching the stars at night. A must-visit for anyone into nature, freedom, and unforgettable landscapes.

Beautiful place with amazing bird life. We saw dolphins from the cliffs! Plenty of places to park and do circular loops - we did one from Praia do Aromeira and another near Arrifana

Beach
Praia do Vale dos Homens is a secluded and untamed beach located near the village of Rogil, on the northwestern edge of the Algarve. Nestled within farmland and pine forests, this unspoiled stretch of coastline offers a serene escape from the bustling tourist hubs of southern Algarve. Accessible via 285 wooden steps, this beach boasts soft sands and striking dark rock formations.
Amazing beach for a sunset. When we went there (late June), there was only two other cars in the car park when we got there about 30 mins before sunset. A wild but beautiful beach surrounded by spectacular cliffs. For the isolation, it was our favourite beach we visited in this part of the Algarve.
Josh B — Google review
A beautiful Beach with lots of cool black rock formations. When the tide is out you can walk north along the beach to some beautiful rock pools. Theres no lifeguard and no shops here, which means not so many people which we preferred. There are lots of steps to get down to the beach. Also means when leaving you have to climb a lot of stairs but it takes 5mins max.
Katie P — Google review
An excellent beach with great surf, fine sand and always windy. Breathtaking panoramic views at the entrance /parking on the cliffs. Rugged cliffs and yet lots of green. A long wooden staircase with some benches leads down to the beach. And offers enough rest to enjoy the great view.

Beautiful beach with a wild touch, nice scenery with its blue turquoise waters, lush green vegetation and schist rocks. Very quiet spot to visit during a relaxing vacation day
Angelo D — Google review
Very nice beach with a beautiful landscape. The sea may be quite rough at times. It's also wonderful to take pictures during sunset
Fábio M — Google review
Beautiful beach, we went on a cold summers day. It was cloudy but beautiful, when the sun peaked through the clouds it was magical. We had the whole beach to ourselves. Very windy so bring a jacket if it's possible.
Roxane G — Google review
We visited on a fine January afternoon so had the beach to ourselves. There's a paved road suitable for all cars to the gravel car park at the top of the cliffs. Access to the beach is down a long series of wooden steps with a few benches to rest on the way, definitely not suitable for pushchairs or the infirm. There's a wooden walkway over the undergrowth to the cliff edge for fantastic views.

Bar da Praia is a charming beachside bar and restaurant located at the end of Rua Principal, just on the beach in Odeceixe. It offers good vibes, tasty snacks, and excellent service with an amazing view. The spot is perfect for a relaxing meal before or after hitting the beach. Visitors can easily find it by following signs to the beach when reaching Odeceixe and parking their car on the southern cliffs.
Highly recommend Bar da Praia. The food was outstanding, the best meal I have had this year! The atmosphere on the beach is very special and the service was fantastic. Thank you Pedro for such a special night. If you are visiting the area, this meal will be a highlight!!

The beach bar was the best surprise in Portugal. The blue parasols caught my attention. Upon entering, I had a fantastic experience, with excellent service and fantastic food. The clams are the best I've ever eaten. It's definitely worth a visit. I'll definitely be back.

We came across Bar da Praia a few years ago while passing by and fell in love instantly with the colorful setting and welcoming atmosphere with top view over the Odeceixe river beach. Having tried the clams and brownie previously—which are just heavenly—we also went for the tuna and meat tartar this time, and they exceeded our expectations yet again. Pedro and his team do it all with such finesse, blending bold flavors with delicate presentation in a way that feels deeply soulful. You can truly taste the care and passion behind each dish. A must-visit hidden spot where the vibe, view, and food create a little slice of paradise.

An incredible experience, all the meals were incredibly tasty, and the service was impeccable. We followed all the waiter's recommendations and enjoyed a unique experience. The clams and steak tartar were amazing, and the lemon dessert pairing with chocolate brawnie was a complete success. A charming place with friendly service that provides unique moments.

Amazing place! Food 6 stars! The clamps are unbelievable, the steak tartar is beyond. The homemade lemonade, fresh squeeze orange juice and iced tea are the best option on a sunny warm day, like the one we had there! And their homemade desserts are a delicacy, we had the brownie and the lemon cream as they suggested, no regrets at all. All the staff is extremely friendly. And the view I’ve no words. The place to go in Odeceixe! On my next visit to Odeceixe beach for sure I will be back. Thank you Bar da Praia for the amazing lunch we had. Would give 6 stars or more if available.

Restaurant
Taberna do Gabão is a Mediterranean, European, and Portuguese cuisine restaurant located in Odeceixe. It's known for its unique location on the terrace of the same building that houses Merkava, a successful Israeli cuisine restaurant. With 745 reviews, it's considered one of the top restaurants in Odeceixe. The restaurant offers a delightful dining experience and is worth visiting while exploring the area.
We came to Taberna do Gabao on the last day of our Fisherman’s Trail hike and were lucky to get one of the few remaining tables. From the start, the atmosphere felt welcoming and special. We ordered the carne de porco à alentejana, grilled black pork, and feijoada rica. Our server kindly suggested bringing them out one at a time, which made the experience even better. Each dish was full of depth and care—you could taste the rosemary, the clams, the tenderness of the pork. My husband and I looked at each other and said, “This might be the best meal of our lives.” We also got a glimpse of the happy energy in the kitchen. Sylvia, the matriarch, even stepped outside with us to show a candlelit procession for Fatima in the village. That moment, like the whole meal, felt so personal. At the end, we thanked Sylvia and Marta, who introduced us to the chef and team. It felt like being welcomed into a family, and you can truly taste that in the food. Thank you for the most unforgettable meal of our trip and one we will cherish all our lives.
Yeree W — Google review
We went to this restaurant twice in a week and it was excellent both time. The black pork was so good I had it both times. Service is friendly and multi lingual. It can get very busy so turn up early. It’s probably 1-2€ more than the other restaurants in the town but really worth it.
Beau657 — Google review
A fantastic restaurant!! In no small part due to the fabulously charming efficient and beautiful daughter in law of the owner who, together with his son, gave us the most exceptional service we have had. Great attention to detail, modification of the menu for our vegetarian. The place was heaving with diners, unsurprising given how great it is, despite that we were not rushed and did not have to wait. The food was lovely the venue characterful but most importantly the people who run this place are family and treat all visitors as if they are too!

Fantastic restaurant. Excellent food and very friendly staff. The tuna steak was awesome, and the other food we ordered was too!

Very nice restaurant in this little town, worth a detour from your route! We stumbled into it for chance… or luck! The service was so good, the waitress was very kind, with a great knowledge of English, she explained perfectly the varied tipical menu (even suggestions on digesting times XD)! We were delighted by the great food, both in quantity and quality, and every now and then they came to check on us, sitting in a little sunny but wind breezed dehor. Even the chef! Finally we overstayed, bellies overflowing of food and wine… but they kindly let us, keeping open till 4 pm just for us. A review was much owed! Thanks for all the great vibezs! [ Oh and abou the prices… entries, main (i mean… really could be your main and side!), 2 bottles of wine, coffee and shots: 40€ each ]
Alberto D — Google review
could be a nice place, but the owner is far away from professional. asked for oil and vinegar he responds that the salad is already well prepared. insisting on oil, he finally got it from the neighbour table, and the oil had an expiry date 2 years overdue. apart from other incompetencies, the price is quite high for what it is. won't visit again for sure
Philip H — Google review
We walked in by chance and it was lovely. The salmon was perfect and their signature dish (porc cubes with clams) was delicious. On top of that the home made dessert is highly recommended!

Great place and very friendly team with a very dedicated chef with many stories to tell. The feijoada de polvo e choco is to die for although it might be a bit heavy for sensitive stomachs! Great food overall and good value for money. They only accept cash though which is not very convenient considering the restaurant’s location.

Seafood restaurant
A Azenha do Mar is a charming restaurant located in a small town, offering the best seafood in the region. Visitors rave about the fresh and perfectly cooked squids, as well as the flavorful kidney beans stew with prawns and clams. The portions are generous and reasonably priced, making it a highlight of any trip. The grilled prawns and fish soup are also highly recommended for their freshness and flavor.
This is the kind of restaurants that you dream to find when travelling. An unforgetable meal in a location where you are expecting mediocre at best - Everything we had was fresh, delicious and also original. The grilled fish with the fish roe acorda was a dish I'll be dreaming of at night, and so were the clams and the crab. Even their fried chicken was incredible.

Seafood place, Very fresh and tasty. Should arrive early or there might be a waiting time as the restaurant gets very busy, which is a good sign actually. Pricey but seems like good value for money. The view is astonishing as you see the Atlantic Ocean on the Vicentina coast and the cliffs nearby

This fresh seafood restaurant in a small village offers a stunning viewpoint. I really enjoyed the food, though the feijão com camarão was a bit salty. Overall, everything was great, and the staff was very friendly.

Great grilled fish! Super crispy skin, delicate taste of smoke, salty but not too much which I like on the fish also not dry. Side vegetable's were a good company. Worth mentioning is the view from outside patio. Highly recommend clams with tomato souse as an appetizer.

A reputation of note but a little overrated. Pre drinks were great, awaiting a lengthy waiting list for your buzzer to chime, but overall a worthwhile experience. Food was well presented and tasty. My monk fish with shell fish was delicious, however presented a big piece of fish bone and chunk of fish liver at the bottom of the bowl. The dish did not specify this “special find” in the menu description 😏

Nestled in the heart of Aljezur, a region renowned for its sweet potato production, Restaurante Museu da Batata Doce is a delightful culinary gem that celebrates local flavors. This charming eatery offers an inviting atmosphere with its wooden decor and lush surroundings, making it a perfect spot to unwind after exploring the Fisherman's Trail. The menu showcases an array of dishes featuring fresh seafood and traditional Portuguese fare, including hearty soups and delectable stews.
Stopped here for lunch on a whim while I was walking Fisherman's Trail. Very charming restaurant with friendly staff (be prepared to speak Portuguese) I had the lamb stew and salted caramel cheesecake - the food was absolutely incredible, I was blown away. Would absolutely go back in a heartbeat.

We had an excellent meal at Restaurante Museu da Batata Doce. The food was truly delicious - the beef sirloin steak was perfectly cooked and full of flavor, and the tuna steak was equally impressive. The ambiance is fantastic, with a charming and relaxing atmosphere, especially in the outdoor seating area which is beautifully set up. The only downside was the service. While the staff were kind and professional, there simply weren't enough of them to handle all the tables efficiently. It's clear they're doing their best, but the restaurant would benefit from having more waiters to match the quality of the food and setting. Still, a lovely place worth visiting - just be patient during busy hours!
K R — Google review
Early evening on a Saturday night, the place was almost empty at first — but then it filled up. This restaurant was recommended by Alentero Litoral Caravan Park, and they made a good choice. We started with a soup, followed by plenty of fish options. The food convinced us, though the staff didn’t fully win us over — some days are better than others, I guess. That said, we also really liked the restaurant itself: mostly made of wood, which gives it a warm atmosphere, not to mention the local products they offer

This is a restaurant with a variety of typical food all with very good quality. There is a high variety of deserts (again all typical of Portugal and specifically Algarve region). The staff was super helpful and friendly. The environment is nice, even when got more full the noise is good. Also, there is ouside a nice space to have a drink during sunset hours.

As a tourist I would definitely place this in the Hidden Gem category. It might be in a small town, but it is big on flavor, character, and service. Some of the best steak I’ve had worldwide, a unique and very good use of sweet potato for dessert, the service was impeccable, and was reasonably priced. What more could you ask for!

We stopped here in the middle of a hike. This restaurant made our day: wonderful stews (we had wild boar and pork cheeks) with great potatoes! And also a very friendly atmosphere! We left with large smiles on our faces, even though we still had 10 more kilometers to go.

The Castle of Aljezur offers stunning views of the plain, river, and hills leading to Monte Clerigo beach. Visitors can explore the magical Fonte das Mentiras and admire the Baroque-style gold carvings inside the Igreja da Misericordia de Aljezur and Church of Nossa Senhora de Alva. The castle was conquered by Christian knights in 1249 during King Afonso III's reign.
This is a great castle to visit. Lots of history associated with this place. Built in the 10th century by the Moors and later taken by the Christian in 1249. The panaromic views from the top are breathtaking. There are two ways to get to this castle. I strongly recommend the way that avoid going through town. Plan on spending an hour or so here looking around and taking pictures.

Beautiful views from the top. Not much of the castle left but we'll worth it for the views. We walked up and it was very steep but afterwards realised we could have drove up. Small car park at top if visiting out of season.

Only a few remains of the walls remain. Some of the historical signs are illegible (due to age and vandalism). From the castle, you have a good view over Aljezur. A short trip to the castle is worthwhile, but don't expect too much.

It is a castle ruins, worth the visit if you like a view. But it is quite a steep walk. However worthwhileto see Aljezur from a viewpoint. The castle is free and will only take a minute to walk all around.

Al-Jazur Castle overlooks the town of Al-Jazur on the west coast of Portugal. Although it was built in the 10th century, archaeological finds confirm that this place has been occupied since the Iron Age, (this is somewhere between 1200 and 600 BC) which is really challenging to understand. We stopped and walked up to see the view and the castle ruins. The old town was built on the hillside to the castle and the newer town was in the flat below. The region was rich in agriculture.

(Translated by Google) We bought the ticket that allowed us to visit several museums, including the Casa Museu of the painter José Cercas. With the information given at the Sacred Art Museum, the museums in Aljezur close at 6pm. However, we arrived at the entrance to this museum at 5:20 pm and the employee there told us that "it's not a good time", in other words, that it wasn't time to go in. It seems conceivable to me that such a small museum would take us more than 15 minutes to visit, which does not justify the attitude of barring us from entry when there were 40 minutes left before closing. To top it off, the museum was EMPTY when we arrived there. Once again, reprehensible behavior on the part of the employee, who was probably anxious to close early, prevented us from visiting the museum, when we had already paid to enter. AS ADDENDUM: The lady who served us at the Sacred Art Museum was very friendly and attentive, an example that her colleagues should follow.

Church
In the charming village of Aljezur, visitors can explore the rich cultural heritage, including the Igreja da Misericórdia de Aljezur. This 16th-century church, rebuilt after the 1755 earthquake, features a beautifully decorated interior with Baroque-style gold carvings. Adjacent to the church is a small Sacred Art Museum showcasing an impressive collection of religious art. The village also boasts other cultural attractions such as the Municipal Museum and Antoniano Museum.

(Translated by Google) Igreja da Misericordia de Aljezur was built on the hills of the city in the 16th century. Unfortunately it fell victim to the great earthquake in 1755. But it was then rebuilt. Igreja da Misericordia is a small, beautiful church. I was happy to be here. I could even have this gem all to myself. I let its special atmosphere work its magic on me. Absolut sehenswert

(Translated by Google) It is a very well preserved church, but very simple. Its façade is devoid of any notable motifs and the interior has a single nave and a main chapel. The wooden ceiling has the coat of arms of the Misericórdia painted on it. It also has a pulpit, beautiful in its simplicity, and a choir on the epistle side. Housed in a majestic 19th-century building that once served as the Town Hall, the Museu Municipal de Aljezur offers a captivating journey through the history and culture of the region.
Really cool museum and the lady was SO friendly - she gave us a private little tour/explanation. Loved it! ❤️

Small but very good and friendly staff full of knowledge. An unexpected but lovely find for us

The museum itself is small but full of knick knacks of anthtopological value. The ticket also gives you access to the rest of the museums. The real value here is in the explanations of the desk lady. She will tell you plenty of details about the city and the local archaeological findings
Aurore — Google review
We had a rally paper event for a birthday party, and it was such an amazing experience! The museum staff were the friendliest I’ve ever encountered. Not only was it fun, but we also learned so much about Aljezur, its history as an island and a port, and the stories of its people. To top it off, they even gave us a chocolate coin at the end! Totally worth every penny! 😄

Although we couldn't get in because it was in renovation, the lady working there was very nice. She told us about the city, history and interesting facts. She answered some questions I had regarding nearby ruins. I totally recommend a visit to this place.

The Museum Municipal de Aljezur is a true hidden gem of the area. Everyone coming in from the hikes should make a detour to see the museum and check it out, since even though it’s small it has a wonderful collection of artifacts and photos. It adds so much needed context to the sights and places you will be walking through that easily makes it a must-see. Plus, the docent and staff are so nice!

Museum
The Museum of Sacred Art Monsenhor Francisco Pardal is a small yet impressive museum with a diverse and valuable collection. The staff, particularly the friendly and attentive lady who works there, passionately explains the rich history of Portugal and its artifacts. It is one of the few museums in the town, which reflects the cultural vitality of the area. Visiting this museum is truly surprising and showcases its commitment to preserving and showcasing sacred art from Portugal's past.
Fascinating collection of items going back many centuries, made all the more interesting by the delightful museum worker who, despite having limited English, managed to explain things to us. She also took us into the attached church, (Santa Casa da Misericordia de Aljezur) which was the main town church before the earthquake of 1755. We are not particularly religious but we really enjoyed this our visit to this little museum and church.

Praia de Monte Clérigo is a picturesque beach located on the western Atlantic coast, just a short drive from Aljezur. Flanked by rocky cliffs, this wide-sand beach offers stunning coastal views and tidal pools. The area also features picnic spots and a legendary site called Fonte das Mentiras.
Praya de Monte Clerijo is a stunning beach perfect for surfers and sunbathers alike. It’s ideal for both beginners and experienced surfers. The picturesque scenery and dramatic cliffs, enhances the overall experience. A must-visit for anyone seeking adventure and beauty!

Great beach. No sunloungers, has lifeguards, disabled facilities, toilets, restaurants nearby and surf hire. Can be very busy with parking an issue. That being said plenty of parking on the roads leading to and from the beach and there is plenty of room for everyone to spread out there towels and umbrellas.

Stunning! Not really one beach, but a whole section of coastline at low tide, amazing interesting geological rock formations to fish from, backed by soaring cliffs. Beautiful sand and lots of surfing hire etc in the tiny village which backs the beach. Some good cafes etc You can't really go wrong here for a beach day out!!!

Outdoor Activities
Praia da Amoreira is a picturesque sandy beach situated at the mouth of the Aljezur River within the Vicentine Coast Natural Park. This moderate difficulty circuit trail spans 7 kilometers and offers activities such as nature walks, birdwatching, and swimming during summer. The beach is part of a coastal town in the Algarve, close to other stunning beaches known for their clear waters.
Nice beach where you can take surf lessons. But the thing I liked the most is the river that runs past the rocks. You can walk passed the river or even cross it (at low tide about knee deep) to get to the other side and the restaurant at the top of the hill. The tide makes changes to the scenery so really nice to just sit down and see the tides change.
Roman S — Google review
Beautiful beach, lots of sand, good for a bit of surf but the sea is a bit dangerous. There is a sort of river that connects to the ocean and usually the children love it the most. Has a lifeguard. Very good for walking near the ocean.
Filipa P — Google review
Wide beach with nice big waves 🤩 just make sure to set up your navigation to end up on the side where the restaurant is, otherwise you’ll be on a side where you have to cross the water and if the water tide is high, you won’t be able to cross/come back 😅 Highly recommend to visit this place to everyone visiting Algarve !🇵🇹
Edvin G — Google review
Beautiful beach, the bay is wide giving plenty of space to setup and enjoy. Surfing conditions are very good and the sea remains shallow enough to walkout if you're getting started. Be sure to bring some supplies or else there is one restaurant to get food and drink with a range of local dishes

Magical place, our favorite beach. We returned again and again. Morning, evening. Low tide, high tide. Every time excited. A river flowing to the ocean and then back again. Tidal waves. Beautiful and breathtaking.

Seems like I keep giving lots of 5 Star reviews lately but that’s just the nature of Southern Portugal and the effect that it has on my Wife and I. Drove up to the small town of Aljezur this weekend. Have been wanting to go there for a while. Nice little town. I initially thought that the town was on the water (west coast of Portugal) but it turns out to be a few kms inland. However, the remote area heading out to the Sea from the town is also considered to be Aljesur so it really refers to the area in general. Being a Beach oriented guy I just had to see what was out there. So I followed a riverbed on the map to where it meets the Ocean and found the beach of Praia da Amoreira. Cutting to the chase, if you’re a Surfer this beach should be high up in your “Bucket List”. The beach is surrounded by massive hills that form a Bay. The rollers coming in are impressive indeed. Made me want to be in my teens again, Surf Board under my arm (but I’m not). Coupled with this scenery is a really deep beach, lots and lots of sand running right up into the river bed. When we visited the river was landlocked (not actually reaching the Sea). I’m assuming it may have something to do with the severe drought that Portugal has been affected by over the past several years. Anyway, nice simple Bar/Restaurant right on the cliff above overlooking the entire beach and surf action. I’ll also note that this is a great destination for Adventure Bike tourers. I “shall be back”!😁
David S — Google review
Highly recommended. At first you’re welcomed by the huge shoreline there - you can walk for more than 30 minutes along the sea, and much more if you continue up the river. The fine sand tickles your feet gently. If you catch a low tide, you see fabulous rock formations and intriguing black cliffs. Best of all - there are only two buildings around the entire beach, both - restaurants.
Spasimir D — Google review
I woul call this place a little paradise Very beautiful and also highly recommended for relaxing 😌 One day is not enough... IIMPORTANT: the only place in Portugal 🇵🇹 where I found hot water to swim 🏊‍♂️ by the river side. The water 💦 coming from the river meeting the beach 🏝 and the water flow is very nice for surfers 🏄‍♂️ Today Am coming back there to enjoy 😉 the place.

In the charming city center of Aljezur, there's a hidden gem called Moagem. This characterful restaurant and lunchroom is located in an old mill and offers a changing menu with delicious vegan dishes like tempeh burger, lasagne with vegan mozzarella, and sandwich with pesto and vegan feta. The friendly staff are happy to guide you through the menu if you have any food intolerances. While the service is simple, the atmosphere is welcoming and nicely decorated.
Beautiful restaurant with great ambience and warm service! We loved everything about this place, except that some of the dishes we had chosen were already sold out. However, it must be mentioned that we were quite late for dinner and this also speaks for the restaurant and its food. Local food, most vegan and also possible to mention if you have intolerances. The waitress welcomed and served us nicely. We were happy as could be. The chocolate cake with coconut base is highly recommended!!!

Everything is simple but nicely decorated. The menu has tasty vegan dishes like tempeh burger (14.10), lasagne with vegan mozzarella(11.80) and sandwich with pesto and vegan feta (7.50). There are also many gluten-free options. So if you want to eat delicious vegan food (once) in a special setting, this is a must! Opening hours: 12:00–22:00 Closed on Monday

We found this lovely little restaurant by chance. Whilst none of us are Vegan or Veggie or Gluten-free we ate the specials and it was all delicious. We had specials Vegan Lasagne, Mushroom Moquequa with Banana and red rice along with Quinoa and Kale Salad and Hummus - then desserts of Lime Cheesecake, chocolate cake and Carrot cake. All excellent and washed down with homemade juices and ice teas.

Me an my girlfriend were in Aljezur for three nights and we came here to have dinner those three nights. The dish of the day is simply amazing. The mix of the flavours are super tasty. Do not forget to ask for the desert, you will not regret. Also the decoration of the space is fantastic. Looking forward to come back.

Great ambient, friendly staff and very delicious healthy vegetarian/vegan food and drinks, all without sugar. Daily changing dish/drink and soup for nice price! All in all a really great place to go to! I would love to come back once again.

Bit odd really. We went due to the reviews. The menu was given with no explanation or telling us the specials. We worked it out from googling the menu specials whilst in the restaurant!! The menu is limited but food arrived quickly. The lasagne was Sloppy and too much tomato without herbs or structure. Grated cheese on top but not grilled or crisp. The quinoa salad was pretty dull and sooo oily. No flavour just texture. So pretty disappointing as we cook great vegetarian and expected inspiration. The service was functional and not proud of the food or selling it. 😕

We had an impromptu visit to III Geração Restaurante and were warmly welcomed by the friendly staff. The dining experience was exceptional, with the seafood plate for two standing out as a highlight. I was excited to eat here and the experience was good, withouth being exceptional. I saw pictures of the Russo salad with prawns and the poke bowl from a few weeks earlier here on Google, but ours arrived a bit different. The poke bowl was good, but about 80% rice (nicely seasoned) so a few more fresh ingredients would have made it really good.

At first we thought it will be just a normal restaurant, next to the beach. But then what happened: 1) the service was very nice and very kind. Everything how it should be. 2) we had some live music and the quality of the 2 musicians was very good. It was kinda nostalgic Region music, as I believe. 3) the food, the food was excellent. To the chef, we’ll done. I was shocked first about the price but when I tasted the food. It was an amazing experience to taste the combination of variations. 5) very simple design, but same time very stylish because they use different kind of plates for each typ of dishes. 4) the location is beautiful, amazing nature. With the combination of the food what we got deserved, all in one word: grandiose

Best ceviche outside of Peru, with the mixture of textures you get in a native ceviche & balance between acidity & spice. Horrible experience. The staff seem to hate customers and they act as if anything you ask for is the biggest nuisance to them. First of all we found a big moth fly mixed in with our olives, disgusting. Then our grilled squid and fish were both served still raw and undercooked and when we told the waiter about it the chef came out, and rather than apologize about it he insisted that the fish was cooked properly and insulted us by saying that we probably never had eaten fish before. The level of arrogance was despicable. They must be hating life… I’d avoid at all cost, they don’t deserve your money.

AVOID Not worth the stop. Beautiful location, but ruined by a very aggressively rude owner. We entered and ordered drinks, we were the only customers in the building, he was visibly annoyed by us but it seemed like he was just grumpy. We sat on the deck to have our drinks and I went to the bathroom. I entered the building with two new customers. The women's was locked and the men's was unlocked. It was a single stall and we were basically the only customers so I locked the door and started to go to the bathroom. I was extremely startled by banging on the door and yelling "This is not for you! This is for men!!!" I yelled back "Sorry, the women's is locked" When I exited the bathroom he pointed to a sign that was ONLY on the women's room that said to ask for a key. I said "desculpe" and returned to my table. I sat there realizing he had left his only two other customers mid-order to come yell at me for using the bathroom that he thought I shouldn't be (I am non-binary). I felt sick and couldn't finish my beer and my friend and I left with our drinks still full on the table. It was more than just rudeness it was very aggressive and extremely upsetting. AVOID

Best seafood we ever had on the planet. Exceptionally well prepared! Ask the chef to cut a portion of sea bass or the like and "make it beautiful". (You can't easily get to the beach from here, though. It's worth the dive simply for the food!)

Praia da Carriagem is a hidden gem in Algarve, Portugal, offering a unique natural setting for a peaceful beach experience. Backed by mountains, this gravel beach features a narrow sandy strip and a natural rock amphitheater that emerges at low tide. It's favored by those seeking solitude as it's not usually crowded, and visitors recommend arriving early and leaving by mid-afternoon to avoid getting trapped by the incoming tide.
The road that goes to the beach is not a good one, But the beach and the view makes up for it! Amazing view!!! Secluded, so not many people.
Tasmi T — Google review
Gorgeous. Probably the most beautiful beach in the area. Even the steps down give you a excellent view. Part of the ride there is on a gravel road, but nothing serious it's in good condition. Not a big parking lot but plenty of space. It's not a crowded beach.
João R — Google review
A hidden gem! My absolute favourite beach by far in this area 🤩 If you want your own space away from others (even though it’s not a particularly crowded beach) walk as far left as you wish once you go down the stairs. I would recommend going early and leaving by 3/4pm (especially if you plan on walking down the beach). The tide comes in and can trap you if you aren’t careful.
Lisa N — Google review
Cool beach, perfekt for some longer walks. Swimming is not so easy due to the rocks but it is still pretty nice. The road to get there is not the easiest but doable. :)
Elisabeth L — Google review
Absolutely breathtaking. Last part of the road (about 10min) was a not asphalted road, but nothing critical. There are several parking spaces available. Camping not allowed.
Daria P — Google review
Relax beach with amazing view and not very explored so not too many people. No lifeguard and be careful with the rocks
Hugo G — Google review
Black stone formations and not many people. Small parking lot at end of flat dirt road. No facilities. Great for spending the day after tide goes out.
R T — Google review
Absolutely gorgeous. The stairs down the hill are beautiful. When it's low tide the whole experience of this beach is something else... must visit!

Ruínas da Fortaleza de Arrifana

The Ruínas da Fortaleza de Arrifana, a 17th-century fortress, stands as a testament to its historical significance as a defensive stronghold and protected area for tuna fishing. While much of the structure has eroded over time, it now serves as a scenic viewpoint offering breathtaking vistas of the ocean and the rugged cliffs that define the coastline. It's an ideal spot to immerse yourself in history while taking in the natural beauty of the surroundings.

Praia do Amado, located near Carrapateira, is a stunning beach that forms part of the untamed Costa Vicentina Parque Natural. It's a hotspot for surfers due to its consistent swells throughout the year and has even hosted surfing competitions. Despite being popular in the summer months, its 1km stretch allows visitors to find their own space. The beach is surrounded by breathtaking natural scenery and attracts many surfers looking to catch some waves.
Beautiful beach suitable for surfing and sunbathing rather then swimming due to big waves and cold water. We visited in February and the beach was serene, with very few people visiting. It was a bit breezy but still we had a pleasant beach walk. There are also various facilities at the entrance to the beach, such as snack bar with a surprisingly good coffee and pasteis de nata, toilets and a vast parking lot. Definitely one of the highlights of the Portuguese coast.
Andrej M — Google review
Very nice beach! Easy to find a parking spot even with a Van and numerous places where you can rent stuff for surfing at a very reasonable price. There are also a few bar where you can have lunch Recommend
Alice M — Google review
A lovely, easily accessible beach with tarmac road access (others have bumpy rough roads) with a little snack bar, good parking and gorgeous views. I got lots of beautiful little shells and rocks too! 🐚⛱️
Grace H — Google review
Long wide beach several bars and surf lessons perfect waves for surfers amazing view and quite large parking lot clean clear water and yellow sand
Stanislaw K — Google review
Beautiful beach with restrooms and trash bins. But.. cannot recommend to stay with your camper van. You might be lucky or not. We and all the other campers had to pay a fine. The view is quite nice, but think twice if you want to stay and might have to pay.
Leon B — Google review
So pretty! We were here with big waves and it was so much fun just watching everything happen. The beach got shrouded in mist/fog but still very pretty. Windy but if you’re down on a blanket it still gets hot, even in March

Restaurant
O Paulo is a renowned restaurant located in Arrifana, Portugal, offering a delightful dining experience with stunning views of the ocean and the fortress. The menu features a limited but delicious selection for vegetarians, including vegan options. The restaurant is particularly famous for its impeccably fresh seafood dishes such as barnacles, octopus salad, and spider crab. While it may be slightly pricey, the quality of food and the panoramic sunset view make it worth the splurge.
It was a vert nice experience overall. A huge plus is the beautiful surroundings. Parking is small so perhaps better to leave the car further away. Service was great but our order of bread was forgotten. Unfortunately we have tried just a few items from the menu. Fish soup and octopus salad were amazing!
Danas K — Google review
It was amazing! Finally able to eat percebes on the last day of the season (Sept 15) . Enjoyed the amazing food after the great sunset around 7.45 PM.
Hans K — Google review
Beautiful spot up on the cliff! Got to watch the sunset. Food was good, very fresh fish and everything prepared very clean. Nothing I would say was elevated but very fresh. I had the swordfish, my husband had the monkfishand prawn skewers. Service was okay. Bring a jacket it gets chilly at night this time of year!
Elizabeth M — Google review
The restaurant is amazing, it gives you one of the best view I have ever seen in my life. Also the food is delicious, I had a beef Tuna, absolutely worth trying it also, as I am not very into fish, but that dish changed my mind. In general, it's a fish/sea good specialty place. Also the service is an example for so many other places, very friendly, attentious and helpful.
Kelyane W — Google review
I had the delicious Arroz a Tamboril for main course and a Greek salad and Almeijoas a Bulhao de pato as starters. Food was excellent and the view is simply wonderful. This is a must go restaurant if you are visiting Arrifana.
Elenise Z — Google review
The good; amazing views, the fish was fresh and the sea food too, big variety of desserts. The bad; overpriced, we waited 1 hour for the food and the restaurant wasn’t full and forgot one of the orders. Would not recommend considering the options you have in the surrounding areas

The seafood platter was amazing! Presentation and value were epic. The views were incredible. Our waiter made great recommendations for wine pairing as well.

Restaurant
Restaurante da Praia - Praia da Arrifana is a hidden gem in Portugal, popular among surfers. The restaurant offers stunning beach views from its terrace and serves delicious food that will replenish your energy after a morning of surfing. Despite some complaints about pricing, the seafood dishes and cocktails are highly recommended. The friendly staff, English-speaking as well, adds to the overall positive experience.
Great bar with amazing beach view. Background music with 80's classics felt fitting in this serene spot that hosted a variety of old and young people. Perfect to come by for a refreshing drink right after your surf session or a coffee to get pumped up before ;)
Jelle K — Google review
Lovely location right on Arrifana Beach with stunning views of the ocean, surfers, and the wide sandy beach. I sat on the deck this time rather than up in the restaurant, which was a great spot to enjoy the scenery. The vibe is relaxed and welcoming, but the food was a bit disappointing on this visit. I ordered avocado with mushrooms and egg on toast—asked for scrambled eggs but received fried instead. The dish felt a little greasy, and the avocado seemed more like guacamole paste than fresh. Unfortunately, it left me with indigestion afterwards, and the coffee was lukewarm. That said, I’ve eaten here before and enjoyed the food, so perhaps it was just an off day. The atmosphere and location are fantastic, so I’d still go back for the views and to give it another chance. Plus it’s doggie friendly, so that’s always a win! 🐶🐾

The best place in Portugal, it’s amazing. 100% recommended, good prices and the food delicious. it’s PERFECT. The vibe it transmits is just magical. if you are doubting on going, GO!
Ema C — Google review
Food portions were very small but okay, costly for what they were. Didn’t allow for changes or addition of items. Coffee was a bit shit, very milky more like an instant coffee Good view that’s about it.
Gabe R — Google review
Nice food with a great view, not too crowded even in August. The staff was very kind, food good and prices reasonable.
Alice M — Google review
Good food, a bit expensive maybe, but of course the view is amazing! The lemonade was expensive and not really natural and tasty. But the view….
Paula O — Google review
Incredible place! Delicious greek salad and the focaccia was also incredible. Nice coffee. Great atmosphere. A highlight of our trip!
Angus R — Google review
The location is exceptional, the cheeseburger I found it tasted like convenience food, just a patty, a piece of cheese, 1 leave of lattice. No cucumber, no tomato, the sauce was kind of ok. The fries were not crisp. Plus a teaspoon of garlic cream. Heineken beer, why? I find Super Bock tastes much better .Then the waitress forgot to bring the coffee.

Restaurant
Tasca d'Arrifana is a friendly and cozy restaurant with a charming outdoor space, especially on the upper terrace. Their specialty, the octopus feijoada, is well-presented and delicious. The prices are reasonable for what they offer. It's worth trying their local dishes as the waiters are helpful in explaining your options. The fish soup and grilled sea bass are highly recommended.
Very good Tasca in Arrifana. We ordered a grilled sea bass. The fish was super fresh and very well grilled. They could have provided some more side dishes… Unfortunately, they did not have all dessert. Good service. But overall very good. And rather good pricing (much pricier in Arrifana than elsewhere in Portugal…).
Mona W — Google review
Worth to try! They have many local plates and the waiters kindly explain everything you need to know to make your choice. I loved the fish soup and the grilled sea bass. Finally a place where you don't get rice and fries as side dish but tasteful oven baked potatoes and mixed salad. You can get more than enough in your belly with drinks just for over 20€ per person, including dessert if you still have room for it.
Barbara B — Google review
Amazing little gem. The people are lovely, helpful and always up for a chat. I stayed 5 days in Arrifana and went there everyday because the food is so good and authentic. Hands down, this is the best place to eat in town!
Suncrumbs S — Google review
Really nice place close to the beach. The service is excellent. The choice of fish is large and with quality. Product are from here so could have some choice missing. Really recommend it
Aurélien P — Google review
The seafood rice was huge, fun, and delicious. Would love to get it again sometime.
Lucas E — Google review
We were lucky to get a table here without a reservation. We ate the speciality of the house: seafood rice and even as a non seafood eater, really enjoyed it! Just be prepared to get your hands dirty :) The service was friendly and fast but other tables that arrived later did have to wait quite a bit for their food...
Corine A — Google review
Authentic fresh Portuguese dishes, nice atmosphere outside Waited quite long for the seafood rice, but worth it Big portion, definitely enough for 2!

Restaurant
Sítio do Forno is a restaurant located on the cliffs overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and its stunning coastline. Despite the food not being exceptional, it offers a sizable seating area both inside and outside, with breathtaking views of the ocean. The place is known for its slow service but compensates with an outstanding grilled chicken dish and delicious sardines. However, some dishes like squid and carbonara may not meet expectations. The terrace provides a great spot to enjoy the view despite being somewhat noisy.
The location is beautiful, the food is delicious and the service great! We had the traditional mixed fish cataplana, absolutely recommended!!!
Christos K — Google review
Everything good in Portugal in one place. Good food in generous portions: the rice for 2 can feed 3 easily, the Portuguese dish steak is big! Great views and very friendly staff. The fresh fish on display is...there, and the waiter doesn't wash his hand while handling it to showing customers what they get, then toss in through the kitchen door hatch, then handled ipad or bring food as if nothing happened. A bit of local taste for you 😊 Overall great place and location!
Gui M — Google review
Great restaurant! We got the Sardines on toast (excellent) Fried Squid, and Confit Cod. Everything was delicious. It is a BUSY restaurant so staff are definitely on top of things, but no chitchat and straightforward, polite service. Would return!
Elizabeth M — Google review
The place is lovely, the view is amazing, you can enjoy the view of the ocean. The portions were huge. The seafood rice wasn’t the best though
Olga A — Google review
We had finest fish dinners there and although the service team was having a lot of balls to juggle, they were friendly. Sitting inside and having a walk after dinner to the nearby cape outlook is a warm recommendation. Cinque Estrellas!

Beautiful view…but the food is a different level. If you love cod, please order it, very close to an orgasm.
Daniel R — Google review
Good food, definitely better to male a reservation in advance to book a nice spot. Staff was kind but the service was not the best.
Alice M — Google review
Good food, wonderful view. Note: road in to restaurant is dirt, gravel and has loads of pot holes. I was so glad I wasn't driving my own car, I had a rental. Also it was a rainy March day and the inside of restaurant was drafty so bring a sweater. Definitely glad I came as food was quite good! We had mixed fish cataplana
