The Gallo-Roman Museum in Tongeren is a must-visit attraction, showcasing the region's history from prehistoric times to the Middle Ages. The museum boasts an impressive collection of 18,000 artifacts, including pottery, glassware, sculptures, and bronze items from the Roman and Merovingian periods. Housed in a modern building since 2011, this award-winning museum offers a comprehensive look at Tongeren's ancient past.
Nice museum. You can buy a City Pass for better price to visit the museum and the church' s museum next to that. Great experience for me

Very nice and modern museum with lots of activities. It tells the history of the lands of modern Belgium from prehistoric times to Roman times and early Christianity.
Dasha P — Google review
We bought the tickets online in advance and would recommend doing so. We did appreciate the low entrance fee of 8 euros. The museum is one of the very best I have seen in many years. The building is modern and well designed. There are multiple toilets and free lockers (you do need a 1 euro coin to use them). We liked the free audioguide (in multiple languages); the many videos and the way the artifacts were organized and explained a lot. There is a way to do a fast tour if you just want the highlights; there’s the adult tour; and there’s the tour for kids. All well recognizable. One can also get a group tour with a guide. We really appreciated the lightweight portable chairs that we took with us through the entire museum. They made the visit a lot more comfortable. We expected to be in there for 90 minutes but did end up taking 3 hours and ½ and could have easily been in there longer if we hadn’t gotten hungry. The museum focuses on the history from the prehistory into the beginning of the Middle Ages, often with an extra focus on the local history. The museum really exceeded all of our expectations!
Chers E — Google review
The visit to the Galo Romanian Museum was good. The building itself is awesome, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The permanent exhibits are very interesting, but the museum has only two halls just two halls and that's it. It still deserves five stars for the building and the permanent collection, but the temporary exhibition is disappointing. For an extra €5, I expected much more. I would recommend visiting for the permanent exhibit, but not for the temporary exhibition.
Stan V — Google review
Really great museum, the audioguide really helps because all things are mainly in dutch or in french. It is really interactive so it would be great for kids. It takes around 3 hours to visit everything in the museum. The shop is really cheap compared to other museums. The entry is 8 for adults, 1 for kids, and 5 for students.
Silvia S — Google review
A smooth museum experience with thousands of artifacts on display from prehistoric to ancient times. Displays are in Dutch but audio guides were available in multiple languages. There were even free postcards given away at the end of the exhibit.
Nancy K — Google review
One of the friendliest museums in Belgium. The Museum of Gallo-Roman History sketches the story of mankind from prehistoric times to the fifth century AD in a beautiful permanent collection. The emphasis is on society in and around Belgium during the Roman Empire and the evolution of society under Roman rule. The collection is interesting and excellently illustrated. A quadrilingual audioguide (Dutch, English, French, German) guides you around and provides a lot of information. The plaques are also very informative and accessible. It’s a great place to visit with children as well, offering special kid’s audio explanation and games throughout the museum. It is a very impressive visitor experience. There was a very nice temporary exhibition in cooperation with the British Museum. It has a shop and cafeteria (the latter closed at the moment). The museum is housed in an impressive modern building right in the middle of beautiful Tongeren. Definitely worth a visit.
Siegfried B — Google review
The current exhibition is a real must see with exceptional items from the vast collection of the British Museum. But the way the artefacts are presented is in itself worthwhile of your visit. A perfect audioguide and interactive panels for children makes you forget time during your flash back into ancient roman time. Top.

The Basilica of Our Beloved Lady is a remarkable monument in Tongeren, with a majestic 64-meter-tall tower and a history dating back to 1240. It took 300 years to complete this superb building, which houses the treasured statue of Lady of Tongeren from 1475. Visitors can explore the inside of the basilica and stroll through the quiet walkways behind it where a small monastery is located.
It's stunning, you can see it from far. Visit Tongeren on a Sunday morning to walk the largest antiques market in Belgium, look around the oldest city of the country and its Roman wall and museum. There's also a Benienhof that survived a big fired that once consumed most of the city. There's much to see and learn and this beautiful town.
Ilyas K — Google review
Beautiful, holy and unbelievable are just a few words to try to describe this work of art. Every time we come to Tongeren we are amazed with the church. Words don’t do this amazing structure justice. You can feel the presence of God here. We sat and enjoyed the time we were in side the church. How large but peaceful it makes you feel. It’s extremely clean and the people are friendly. We will be back and thank you for the wonderful experience.

As you approach the city of Tongres the tower of the basilica seems to be the end stage of many roads. Couldn't visit the interior unfortunately.

Tongeren is a small town we stayed over night for the antique market and wee lucky to stumble into the basilica during a organ concert. The church is beautiful. I would love to go back for the crowning of Mary they do once every 7 years- including this heart 2016

Teseum, located at the Basilica of Lady in Tongeren, Belgium, is a unique attraction that offers a blend of rich Catholic art and archaeological discoveries. The museum houses one of the most extensive collections of Catholic art in Belgium and features an underground archaeological site that delves into Tongeren's origins, showcasing ancient building foundations and remnants of seven previous churches.
Teseum in Tongeren is a hidden gem for history and art lovers. Located next to the Basilica of Our Lady, it showcases an impressive collection of religious artifacts, including ancient relics, stunning textiles, and medieval treasures. The exhibits are well-organized and offer a great mix of history and interactive displays, making it both educational and engaging. The atmosphere is peaceful, and the staff is friendly and helpful. If you're visiting Tongeren, it's definitely worth a stop to explore Belgium's rich religious heritage.

Easily one of the nicest museums I have ever visited. It is very well organised and presented. Very interesting for both adults and kids. The audio guide for kids is incredible. My 6 year old managed the Tower, archeological site and The Treasury with no problem!

One of the best museums in Belgium! There are two parts to the Teseum -- first is the underground archeological site and the second has religious art treasures. Both wings are extremely well curated. The audio guide is seamless. Do not miss this when visiting Tongeren. It is well worth the drive.
Nancy K — Google review
One of my favourite museums! The interactive experience for the kids is a blast! Totally worth it for the complete family!
Ana P — Google review
A fascinating and family-friendly experience! We visited the Teseum in Tongeren and explored the archaeological site, the impressive treasury, and climbed the tower – and we were truly amazed! The exhibitions are beautifully curated, highly informative, and yet never overwhelming. The archaeological section offers a captivating journey through time, showing the deep Roman roots of Tongeren with interactive elements and clever storytelling that kept even our child engaged from start to finish. The treasury is equally impressive, showcasing stunning religious artifacts in a respectful and modern display. The climb up the tower was a highlight – the view over the historic town is absolutely worth it. The museum manages to strike a perfect balance between education and entertainment, making it suitable for both adults and kids. We had a fantastic time as a family and would highly recommend the Teseum to anyone visiting the region. It brings history to life in a way that’s both meaningful and fun!

Highly recommend, this is a must-see for international visitors to the area. Our group is from Canada, and all of us were amazed by how incredibly well done the exhibits are --- on par if not exceeding comparable sites in Aachen and Cologne. There are two parts to the Teseum, each takes about an hour. In the basement, a beautiful tour of the archeological site has been built, with outstanding multimedia displays. Upstairs, the treasury and cloister is equally interesting.

Escape the hustle and bustle of the city and immerse yourself in the natural beauty of De Kevie, a stunning nature reserve situated along the Jeker River. This picturesque area features meandering river paths, marshlands, reedbeds, and reclaimed pastoral landscapes teeming with diverse birdlife and wildlife. Explore the four well-defined walking and cycling trails that lead you through coppiced willows, poplars, and charming hedgerows.
Best place to go for a walk/jog in the area, with some trails good for biking. It is composed of several dirt trails trough the forest (sometimes with a wooden bridge) for walkers/runners and a bigger stone trail next to the fields for bikers and walkers/runners. I had a good time finding all the trails there is one that is pretty well hidden. It connects a big portion of villages in east-tongeren and even Walonia. You can find all kinds of creatures here: birds, frogs, small rodents, beavers, horses and hogs. Be aware of the hogs as they can be dangerous. There are some benches aswell as some tables for a picnic.

(Translated by Google) Very beautiful nature to discover, many walks that you can follow. Unfortunately we were full of mosquito bites, after 1 day the itching still lingers. Due to the sunny weather we of course wore shorts, but many mosquitoes continued to follow and bite us where we were. Still, we tried to make the best of it and are now dealing with the itch.

(Translated by Google) Beautiful nature reserve near the center of Tongeren. Various walks, of which we did the red one, about 8 km. Easily accessible paths, not suitable for strollers or wheelchair users due to the boardwalks. The first part, about 4 km, starts beautifully, but then you have to follow a straight road for about 2 km and we found that less successful. Maybe figure out how this boring piece could be done differently? Then you come to a few terraces on a square where you can also have some fries and then do the second half of the walk. And it is really worth it until you get back to the Kevie parking lot.

(Translated by Google) It's quite pleasant to walk here. However, I find it a major drawback that there are also so many cyclists (far too fast). So, you can only walk carefree if you choose the paths in the woods. (Original) Het is hier vrij aangenaam wandelen.

't Vrijthof is a Belgian restaurant that offers delicious traditional dishes like sweetbreads and hazerug. The warm and classic Tongeren atmosphere adds to the dining experience. With quick and efficient service, 't Vrijthof is highly recommended for those looking for tasty food in a cozy setting.
Excellent place.
Valdi V — Google review
Very bad, to avoid absolutely !! The waiteress speaks German or Flemish only and is very fast to take your order, she doesn't take time to explain you the dishes. I took a starter (parmesan fondue), and no trace of parmesan, just a cheese kroket from the freezer, without any interest, coupled with a bad salad toppered with bad vinaigrette. We ordered a wine bottle, high price. It should have been a 2008, and the waitress came with an open bottle at our table with the right castle, but 2012 year. They just told us the price remain the same as the 2008... Then, i was really not having any doubts about the main, as we both ordered a beef filet at more than 30€. Surprise !! The meat was really bad, coming from freezer too... sauce was good, french fries from freezer too (forget the traditional Belgian fries...). At the end, a digestive drink offered, but it came with a dead insect (sort of mosquito) in the glass... horrible. The waitress took it back, just removed the insect, and brang it back to me... can't belive it... I highly recomend to everyone to not spend any money in here. I'm a simple customer from abroad, not a competitor restaurant from the city.

(Translated by Google) We stayed in Tongeren during the weekend of May 27, 28, 29, 2023 and were looking for a place to eat near our stay. Hotel/ice cream parlor Mario located next to the cathedral of Tongeren. We had dinner there once in the afternoon and once in the evening. It is a quiet, classy business with a covered terrace. The Graanmarkt is also a quiet zone. My wife had beef carpaccio with toast. The meat (a whole plate full) was hand-cut and a real flavor bomb. I had grilled prawns (six huge, delicious prawns with fries/excellently grilled! with tartare). You have to be a good eater to finish this delicious dish. Because both dishes were so tasty, we ate the same thing twice. The first time in the afternoon we ate on the covered terrace, the next day we ate inside the stylish restaurant. We can only strongly recommend this classy establishment, both in terms of conviviality and the quality of the food! Price/quality, 't Vrijthof is a bull's eye!

Amazing food in a very nice place with charming atmosphere. Staff was great and helpful ! One star from Michelin, so our expectations were high. We were not disappointed! The restaurant is divided into two separate rooms. The one we sat in had grey cloth walls with small rectangular mirrors embedded. The first dining room where you enter and see the personnel preparing the food was more authentic with attractive pieces of art. If we had the choice, we would have preferred to sit there. Otherwise, the tasting experience was what you would expect for this level of culinary delight. Thank you to all the team for our wedding anniversary celebration.

Located in Tongeren, the Infirmerie is a charming brasserie situated by the canalside. Adjacent to it is the UNESCO-listed begijnhof, which was once home to unmarried or widowed women known as Beguines. Visitors can explore the Museum Beghina housed in a 1660s building, offering insights into the lives of these pioneering women.

My boyfriend and I went to infirmerie to ask about the possibility to arrange there our wedding with 35 guests. The location looked great and the food too. The manager of the restaurant told us that he would have sent an offer within 2 weeks. After not receiving an offer, and not getting a confirmation about availability of the date, we have called the restaurant a couple of times aa a kind reminder, and the manager has always been finding excuses to postpone. We have believed him when he said that he was sick etc, but he has not answered for 2 months, so it is clear that he did not want us as Customer (maybe 35 guests do not bring him enough money? Who knows, he did non say anything, he just disappeared). We dont know what's wrong with this man. He could have said that from te beginning and save us lot of time. He has been holding us for long time while we were getting upset for him not answering. This is an awful behavior from a manager of a restaurant.

Good place to chill but food can be better for the price. A little bit expensive for what you get! May be, you also pay for the location. Disappointing experience with the starters, we were three table and ordered 3 different plates but they provided 2 plates to share with three tables which was not nice. Other than, oke place to try!

Ate at Infirmerie with a large group in their private room. The restaurant is very cool, with a good atmosphere and some solid menu options. We enjoyed our food and drinks and would recommend if you are looking for a spot in Tongeren. The only reason I am giving 4 stars is because of the service, they were not the most friendly.

Nice setting. Aims to serve better food but fails to fully deliver. Ordered proposed menu + selected wines @ €60 pp, party of three. The main disappointed with overcooked veal and unseasoned potato rösti (for all three of us)

Good food and service. The staff make reccomendations to help you enjoy the experience dining there. Had the bruschetta appetizer, steak, ribs and dame blanche for desert. Everything was prepared to order and came out well presented. The steak cooked perfectly accompanied by a freshly made sauce. Rib meat fell of the bone and a sweet sauce contrasted nicely. Desert of dame blanche was great and I only had the small (petit). Nice place and ambiance, definite recommendation.

Specialty Museums
The Museum Beghina can be described as an exhibition showcasing historical artifacts and items related to the concept of a beguinage and the lives of beguins. It is unsure whether it can be classified as a traditional museum, as it primarily consists of glass showcases displaying old objects. The layout makes it challenging for visitors to truly appreciate the exhibits due to limited surface area.
(Translated by Google) Together with the church, the Beguines formed a community of women within the medieval walls of the city of Tongeren. At the Beghina Museum, you can see how these women lived. This authentic and cozy house, dating back to 1660, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It has four levels with different themes, treasures, and artifacts from throughout the ages. (Translated by Google) A 17th-century Beguinage with a good video explanation (30 minutes) about the origins of Beguines, their differences from nuns, their international distribution, and how they were treated by the church and various national governments. An interesting detail: the Beguine who lived here had a maid. Scattered throughout the house are a salt chair, a collection of cartoons, and statues—not always correctly identified, but that's not too distracting. Note: your museum pass isn't valid here, and you have to climb and descend stairs to access the museum. A visit of about 60 minutes is well worth it for visitors with any interest in history.

Terroir-Wijnsafari Haspengouw

4.8
(155)
Terroir-Wijnsafari Haspengouw offers a delightful experience in the picturesque region of Haspengouw, known for its rolling plateaux, orchards, and castles. The guided wine safari provides an educational yet enjoyable journey through Belgian wines and the beautiful landscape of Haspengouw. Visitors can expect clear and interesting explanations about the local wines while enjoying tastings at scenic locations. This activity is highly recommended for families, friends, or even as a team building excursion.
Great experience, for a reasonable price you have an activity that takes you from 14h-18h. Ideal if you are planning a whole day like a henn's party or a family day out. It is really about tasting the wines, so you don't have to worry about having too much wine to be able to drive afterwards (of course you can always choose to drink a bit more :-). Good explanations, fun to do as you drive the carts yourself, you see the entire countryside too. Learnt a lot about the good wines we have!
Annika V — Google review
Nice experience, very fun ride with the cars, amazing scenery. During the tour you get some explanation about the wines of the region and basic wine-knowledge, for non wine-drinkers it is still fun to enjoy the ride / scenery and local juices. We had a great guide, Rudy, we can only recommend.

Joppe talked with great enthusiasm about the wines and the vineyards. Nice to enjoy high-quality products and their environment in this way. These Dutch people really enjoyed themselves! You will definitely see us again in the summer for another Wine Safari tour. An area for improvement for us would be that more snacks could be handed out during the tour. This is something a person needs when they have had a few glasses of wine.

The food was decent, but nothing special. Unfortunately, our evening was overshadowed by the extremely rude behavior of the manager. We were a group of six — a bit lively, yes, but always respectful. Throughout the meal, we received disapproving looks, yet no one said anything directly to us. At the end of the dinner, without even asking for the bill, we were handed a check of over €2000. The manager then took it upon herself to lecture us in Dutch, fully aware that we only spoke English and French. The way customers are treated here is unacceptable. Historical landmark
Moerenpoort is the only remaining gate of the six that once controlled access to Tongeren in Medieval times. It was reconstructed in 1379 after an attack and now stands as a well-preserved medieval city gate. The name refers to the nearby marshes, which can be visited at the De Kevie nature reserve. Today, Moerenpoort serves as a historical museum where visitors can learn about Tongeren's military history.

After being seated the waiter asked me what I would like to drink. I ordered my drink and he took the menu out of my hand. When he came to hand me I drink I tried to order food but he walked away. I tried to flag him several times. The table next to me did as well. Eventually he came back and handed me a bill from another table. I gave it back and told him I had not ordered yet. He went to correct the situation and never came back. I left without ordering any food.

Sushi restaurant
Esaki Tongeren is a delightful culinary gem that truly shines, especially for sushi lovers. Celebrating New Year's Eve with their special sushi menu was an unforgettable experience, featuring a delicious soup, fresh salad, and beautifully presented sushi that left us wanting more. The dessert of vanilla ice cream capped off the meal perfectly at a reasonable price. For those opting for takeout, Esaki Tongeren does not disappoint either; the food is prepared with care and arrives fresh and appetizing.

I ordered and paid for two Nigiri Combo and this is what I got. What a rip off. Staff WOULD NOT pick up the phone the entire evening either. Mind you 1/3 of the maki were just sad cucumbers inside… tell me how is this comparable… sea scallops have obvious went bad as well….

Took about 30 mins to ask us what we wanted to drink, even tho the restaurant was almost empty. After an hour of waiting we still did not get our food, dissapointing….
Mauro L — Google review
We were very disappointed because the sushi rice was gooey and glutinous, almost like a dough ball. The unagi was served without unagi sauce. And the tako (octopus) was particularly chewy and unpleasant. The one kind of sake available was of very low quality. ...the kind sold from vending machines in Tokyo for the street drunks. However, two stars for serving all three top brands of Japanese beer (Asahi, Sapporo, and Kirin) and the chicken-on-a-stick was tender and flavorful. Also, the atmosphere was very nice.
Lowell C — Google review
First time we went there food was really great and staff was knowledgeable and friendly. Second time around food was decent but waitress had no clue about the food or what was served. Asked if they did birthday specials when I ordered in advance but they had forgotten when we got there and instead served us a huge bowl of ice cream with fruit and charged us for it (while I just asked for sparklers if we'd order simple dessert).

Had to wait more than an hour to get our food. Had to ask ourselves for something to bite while waiting and got the kroepoek that was just returned from another table, one still had a bitemark! The food, apart from that, was nice. We had a few Sushi rolls, all delicious.

We were initially apprehensive to go here after seeing few not so positive reviews , but we were surprised. We ordered dimsums and vegetarian and regular sushi. Very polite and good service. Sushi tastes great . If we go back to Tongeren, we would love to eat here again . Also this was out first "eat outs " since the covid 19 lockdown started in March 2020. Very good level of hygiene maintained by the staff .

Really bad experience. A real scam from the beginning to the end. We were really disappointed by the customer service and by the meal we received and their prices. We waited a long time for the menu. The waitress didn't want to serve us sushi because according to her it was taking too much time to cook (while everyone around was served sushi). We tried to negociate by taking more starters while they were cooking' when they served the starters we had to wait 10min to have plates and chopsticks. Then quickly come the beef wok that we paid 17€ (it was the price on the menu but online and in the reviews it's 12,5€), and the Maki and sashimi combo of 20 pieces instead of 36 on the menu. Normally this combo was 20€ so said the paper menu but online impossible to find it and the only offer corresponding to this plate of 20 pieces was written 18€ on the website. In the end we paid 58,50€, more than expected and we ate less than expeted. We waited a long time for the bill a'd finally we got up to ask and saw this bill with wrong prices. We tried to ask and understand but they didn't want to to make it work and just said "20 pieces, 20€" after talking a long time between them in flammish. We paid it, exhausted by this situation and by the staff who were ripping us off. A tip? Just don't go there.

Found this place by "accident" and boy am I glad I did! Yesterday we visited it again and again the chef blew us away! Masterfully prepared food and a simple concept. 1 menu with either 3, 4, 5, 6 or SEVEN courses... appetizers from heaven and dishes with respect for ingredients. Honest food with. Great taste time and again... I ate at a Michelin star restaurant the day before and I enjoyed the dining experience at Sjalotte more. Highly recommended especially if you can reserve the chef's table where you will be blown away how a 2 person team behind the stove delivers perfect dish after dish for over 40 people.

Excellent tasting food and warm service, though not without fault. What disappointed me the most was the tiny portions, especially the main (roeh deer if I'm not mistaken). The portion was just right for a lunch and was simple but tasty. No 'Haute Cuisine', but good everyday food. I really enjoyed my lunch at a second Karmeliet. The prices are good for the quality and quantity delivered. Highly recommended! (Translated by Google) Super cozy location to spend an afternoon/evening. Ideal for families with children because the terrace is next to a nice playground. The food was very tasty and not expensive at all. We will definitely go back!

(Translated by Google) Unfortunately, very limited choice during our visit. The Chicken Salad included in the menu will be served from April, if the weather remains good. As this is not specified, the person with gluten intolerance had to settle for a plate of fries. Very pleasant table service, as well as the place and the atmosphere. (Translated by Google) For a small brasserie... It's really nice... The prices are interesting and the quantities for the dishes are not excessive, The staff is welcoming, smiling and bilingual... I speak FR and I do my best in NL, but hey I'm not perfect at all. But here it is not a problem, the linguistic problems specific to Belgium do not exist. This place is a real pleasure to relax... To try. April 2025: New season, New menu and unfortunately new increased prices. These are especially the dishes whose price has increased by 3 to 4 euros... The quality, quantity, price ratio is now normal to expensive like elsewhere... Too bad... A essayer. Dommage...

A perfect place to be for a nice dinner with friends or wife. We enjoyed the French Malbec as house wine. The bread served before the food is delicious.

Retro Velinx is a delightful dining destination that has captured the hearts of many with its unique menu offerings. Guests rave about their special meals, including a standout vegan salad featuring grilled vegetables and halloumi, which has been described as excellent. The restaurant also offers the option to swap regular fries for sweet potato fries, adding an exciting twist to classic dishes.
Enjoyed the food and the caring service. But had to go inside. Not used to eating with dogs at every table outside. For people with their dogs it is an ideal place to go for a meal. Or a drink. There are even a playing area for the children and to walk the dog.

I had an excellent experience at this café-restaurant. The staff was quick and friendly, and both the food and the coffee were very good. The restroom was not only clean but also had a very interesting design, which was a nice detail. The view over the lake and the park is beautiful and makes the atmosphere even more enjoyable. Prices are reasonable, and overall the place left a really great impression. All in all, I can fully recommend this café-restaurant.

Been here more than 5 times. Location is good. Easy to reach. Plenty choices of food from their menu. Delicious as well. And mostly big portion of food. Will be back again.

I absolutely love this place! Inside and out the site is beautiful. The interior is decorated very tastefully with fun and quirky details, and is animated by the happy chatter of other patrons and a playlist that always slaps. The terrace is right along a pond with a calming fountain. Ducks wander up to say hello and fish jump in and out of the water. The food is delicious and reasonably priced with a large selection of beers. The staff is kind and always do their best to find you a seat (even when it’s the last empty stool in the bar!) I highly recommend and will continue to visit Retro Velinx!

Spacious and lively! Friendly staff, and a menu full of vegetarian options. Large portion of nachos is too much for two people - but tasty!

The male server totally ruined our lunch, shame because the location and food was nice. He was not very friendly while ordering and then he made a mistake with the bill, trying to make us pay 17€ extra. We told him once, he brought us back only 7€ because he did not know how to do maths. Then we told him again that there was a mistake and tried to argue that he served us bigger portions (which was not true) and finally he accepted to bring the 10€ left. I can accept making a mistake but he was rude, tried to fool us and did not even apologise or say goodbye…

The spaghetti met skampi is the greatest pasta I have ever eaten, after visiting over 60 countries. I don’t live in Belgium and have travelled to Tongeren multiple times specifically to savor its deliciousness.

Great food & drinks Not pleased with the service - called the waiter over 3 times (I was barely acknowledged), another waiter helped us, before the original guy finally showed up. This place clearly needs management to look out for customer service. The second waiter was wonderful hence the 3 stars for service instead of 1

Seafood restaurant
If you're on the hunt for an unforgettable culinary experience in Belgium, look no further than Konings. Renowned for serving some of the best moules frites in the country, this restaurant has garnered a loyal following thanks to its consistently delicious dishes. Diners rave about the mussels, which are available in various sizes throughout the year and come with perfectly crafted broths—estragon being a standout favorite among many.
5🌟 the absolute BEST moules frites in Belgium!!! Yes, that is a big statement to make, but I stand by it. I have been to this restaurant over five times and have never been disappointed by their dishes. The moules are absolutely delicious in all seasons, ranging from different sizes depending on the time of year, and the broths are simply perfect. My personal favourite is estragon, but I have tasted most and they are all great. The boulettes sauce liégeoise are also amazing! And the fries are exactly what Belgian fries are known for - crispy on the outside and perfectly cooked on the inside. Even their mayo is great! In my opinion, the desserts are nothing to write home (or google maps) about, but it could be a matter of taste. If you’re in Belgium, this place is definitely worth the trip. You will not regret it, I promise.
Sofia B — Google review
It is know. For their mussels but they have a full menu. It is home of home made Belgian food.

Staff seems shy to talk to guests. They don't come and ask if you need anything. If you need anything you have to make big signs, so that someone catches your attention. We waited over 40mins before someone came to take our order. I wouldnt recommend driving to far just for the food.
Steve S — Google review
Went there with high expectations but must say the service has much room for improvement, the food was good but waiting times are long. We heard its worth driving +2hrs for this restaurant, but we don’t agree. No need to return ever for us unfortunately.

Mussels. Choice of preparation, jumbo, correctly cooked, perfect. And parking in the shadow, thank you from our dog. We'll be back soon!

Good, just good. It seems they don't need advertising. The restaurant was absolutely packed
Svitlana P — Google review
I decided to give this restaurant a try because I've heard great things about them and apparently they are well known for their mussels. Happy to say they lived up to their name. One of the best mussel dishes I've ever had. The staff was really friendly and helpful. Prices are pretty much on par with similar restaurants. I would definitely recommend this place!
Chiel S — Google review
The food was really good and tasty! However, the service was terrible! More than 30 mins waiting time, with reservation! After having a table, we waited 20 mins for the menu, which I had to ask for (and the lady seemed quite upset... ). The first time that we had dinner there, the service was also super efficient and professional. That last time, was really unprofessional... Unfortunately, a reason to not go again soon, despite the huge quality of the menu.
