Nestled in a picturesque cove, Abbazia di San Fruttuoso is a 10th-century abbey with a rich history and ancient Roman cloister. The surrounding area offers stunning hiking trails through Parco di Portofino, featuring olive tree groves, rare orchids, and waterfalls. This location is part of the Sentiero Liguria, a 419-mile-long hiking trail along the Ligurian coast.
What a great side trip from Portofino - we decided to spend half a day here , visit the abbey, the museum and the tower together with a spot of swimming thrown in. It happened to be a magical experience!

Was very busy and not a lot to see tbh. Queue for food / toilet massive (sept) and too many people waiting / arriving on boats causing gridlock on te boat dock. Had 2 hours here due to boat times and couldn't wait to get on boat to Portofino. Much better places to see than here.
Martin S — Google review
Wonderful place to visit. So much history. Just a shame we didn't have enough time due to boat timetable. Will have to return again sometime.
Paul W — Google review
This place is worth your trip. Do not hesitate and loiter around to discover best view points. Take a swim. When you leave San Frutuoso sit at the back of your boat. You will have spectacular view.

What an amazing experience for a few hours to visit by ferry. There were a few trails to hike, photos to be taken, sea glass everywhere on the small beach and a few options for delishous seafood or cocktails. Highly recommend bringing a bathingsuit as the water was crystal clear and just beautiful.
Amy M — Google review
Nice hidden beach with no access by road, either we need to trekk or take ferry from Camogli or Portofino to reach this location. Beach has pebble shore and small, mostly people like to visit Christ under water statue which is about 200 meter from shore.
Vinay H — Google review
The hike from Camogli was awesome and really challenging! We went with another family and the youngest child was 5, so not too insane. The beach is pretty rocky, but we were able to find a good spot for our picnic. Water was cool in June, super refreshing! The abbey is simple and I felt a peace there. Caught the second to last ferry back with no issues. Really great day trip all around. Highly recommended if your in shape for a good hike!

We travelled by ferry to Abbazia di San Fruttoso which was wonderul as we could see everything from the water. We enjoyed walking around the site and exploring the paths and historic buildings. The beach was clean and surrounded by historic buildings in including the abby.

Baia di Paraggi, also known as Spiaggia di Paraggi, is a captivating beach located in the charming town of Santa Margherita Ligure in Italy. It is renowned for its crystal-clear turquoise waters, golden sands, and lush vegetation, making it a top attraction in the area. The picturesque bay is surrounded by green hills and offers a tranquil swimming inlet with sun loungers on the beach.
Superb beach and incredible water, though to buy sunbeds is extremely expensive 200€+. A few restaurants that are expensive as well, but there is a free portion of the beach. Quiet in september. Would recommend for an incredible day at the beach
Luca P — Google review
What a wonderful place. Less busy than Portfino with nicer beach, with beautiful turquoise clean waters. Only issue is that the beach is 90% limited to the guests of the overpriced restaurants.
Fedja D — Google review
Spent an amazing day here with my family. Clear water and white sand. 90% of the beach was privatized and pricey for Sun bed and facilities. It’s really relaxing and a kind of experience. Love it.
Ida W — Google review
Visited Baia di Paraggi on Sept 23 and was happy to see that it was not overcrowded as it was clearly end of season. The “beach clubs” were either closed, or just really not that busy. There is a tiny “free” beach in between the private clubs areas, and there was still spots available around 1pm to lay a towel down on the sand. We walked to the beach from Santa Margherita Ligure which took about 15 minutes from where we parked on the street (for free) just past Capo Nord. The walk was pleasant on the boardwalk along the coast of the sea. We checked out the prices at Bagni Fiori for a day bed but it was out of our price range at appx 200€ for two day beds. Could have been worth it for a full beach day on a sunny summer day, but unfortunately it was a bit cloudy that day and we were only there for a short period of time. The hostess at Bagni Fiori was kind to us anyway.
C L — Google review
We stayed in a little boutique hotel in Paraggi and traffic was insane, the police officer stopped us and asked for proof of reservation to be able to drive down from Santa Margherita Ligure. It's located in the Italian Riviera. The "magic" of Portofino became more of a hassle than anything else... The Baia is pretty small and offers only a few options for food and drinks. It looks like it might be a great place for swimming and diving, but we did not test the water. Once we were able to park (we had to wait for a while to get a spot), we walked down to Portofino in about 20 minutes. That part was nice and very scenic but I wish they had a better structure for hotels and parking options. In a nutshell: too much demand for little structure.
Kat S — Google review
The bay is beautiful, no doubt about it. But if you’re not ready to pay a ridiculous price for sunbeds (70 euros for two beds and an umbrella even at the very end of the day, just for one hour!), you’re left with a miserable narrow strip of beach that’s already packed with everyone unwilling to pay that price. It felt humiliating – just one shabby dark changing booth for all the people there. My advice: bring as few things as possible.

Outdoor Portofino offers a unique experience for those seeking to connect with the sea. Visitors can embark on a kayak tour, exploring the stunning coastline and discovering hidden gems such as Port Bay, a secluded cove perfect for a refreshing swim. The knowledgeable guides provide insights into the area's history, geology, and wildlife, enhancing the adventure. Despite initial weather concerns, guests have praised the dedication of staff members like Sara who went above and beyond to ensure an unforgettable experience.
Our kayak and snorkel guide Filipo was amazing, and we had a nice little wine and focaccia snack after on their deck. Great experience, beautiful location and worth the money!

We had such an amazing time on our kayak tour in Portofino! Our guide was fantastic—knowledgeable, friendly, and very attentive. She shared so much about the history of Portofino as we paddled past small harbors and landmarks, making the whole experience not just fun but also really interesting. It was our first time kayaking, and she explained everything clearly and patiently, which made us feel completely comfortable and safe. Her guidance and attention really made a difference. The 1.5-hour tour was truly magical—being able to see Portofino and its beautiful natural harbors from the sea gave us a completely different and breathtaking perspective compared to walking on land. Highly recommend this tour—it was a wonderful experience we’ll never forget!
Zoi V — Google review
It's an environmental friendly water sports operator. Signed up for the snorkeling tour, the assigned guide is very experienced of this particular bay. Depending on the crowd, the water visibility is about 20 feet or 7 meters. This allows you to see most of the bottom fish and other sea life's. However, their gears may not be the best. I would have bring my own giggle instead. If you're not into sun bathing, this is a excellent alternative. Certainly time of the day, part of the Bay is also shaded.

We accidentally wandered down onto this beach, just looking for a place to jump in the beautiful blue water. We were able to rent a stand up paddleboard for 2, just 20 € included a secure locker, use of shower, use of the board and 2 oars for an hour. What a deal, and super friendly staff. Gorgeous bay with so much room to explore and stunning views. Fantastic find!

My two daughters, both aged 8, enjoyed their Scuola Natura course with Outdoor Portofino this August! They did fun activities - stand up paddle, canoa, snorkeling and walks in nature. Their favourite part of the week was racing each other on the SUP, seeing octopuses while snorkeling and making new friends! The surroundings is absolute paradise and the teachers were very friendly, fun and knowledgeable. See you again next year!
Marianna S — Google review
We had a great first experience snorkeling here! The location has the feel of a little private beach. You can park your scooter near the stairs that’ll take you down the cliff safely to beach. Our instructor had a real heart for the sealife. Her enthusiasm was infectious while still remaining professional enough to take care of everyone in the group. 10/10
Ramon W — Google review
Phillipo provided appropriate instruction and historical insights for a fun and extensive kayak tour. Just the right length of paddling for us in a two person canoe. Then Julia was very detailed in our snorkeling education, in particular regarding fish that we might encounter. Once in the water, she was highly attentive to our equipment fit, underwater observations, and pointing out sightings for everyone to see. The experience ended with a refreshing drink and pizza/bread nourishment. Lockers kept our personal items safe. A great time that we highly recommend.

Highlight of my trip. Being able to get a view of Portofino that not many do and without the hustle and bustle of the crowds is amazing. Very easy for beginners also. Colour of the water like nothing you have seen and plenty of wildlife to boot. 6 stars. Would HIGHLY recommend to anyone who happens to be out there. Can also be booked through Viator.

Langosteria Paraggi is a stunning restaurant with a beautiful view of the sea. It's open all day and even offers a beach menu for those lounging by the water. The staff is welcoming and accommodating, especially to families with kids. While prices are on the higher side, the quality of food and service justifies it. The location is breathtaking but can be challenging to access. Guests have praised the professional and friendly staff who ensure a pleasant dining experience, even during busy times.
One of my favorite meals in Italy! The views are absolutely stunning, making the dining experience truly unforgettable. The staff is exceptionally friendly and attentive, which added a warm and welcoming touch. If budget isn’t a concern, this place is definitely worth it. I thoroughly enjoyed every bite of my meal and can’t wait to return!

My daughter and I really enjoyed this meal. She especially liked the oysters and we loved the spicy lobster. The dessert was the best we had on our 2 week trip to Italy and Switzerland. The service was exceptional plus the restaurant sits right on the Dior Beach. Loved it.

Exquisite Italian dining by the beach near Portofino in a stunning setting. Dined with a selected set meal for a larger meal and each dish was delivered flawlessly, both beautifully presented as well as tasting fantastic. Service was excellent. Recommended!
Edward P — Google review
For any interior designer this place has to be a must visit. They do everything right in that respect. The lighting, the comfy seating, the decor, the view. Everything is perfect. We got in in time to appreciate the spectacular view as the sun dimmed its intensity. As the night strolled in and you start to notice the vegetal treliss, the difuse lighting from different angles, the intense reds that somehow fit nicely, the model airplane to my left. In most similar themed restaurants they overdo the decor and you feel like you are in a disney play. Here its handled with taste and precision, even if it looks haphazard. A beautifull frame for any wonderfull evening with friends. The food was OK, but it almost didn't matter as the ambience takes over making every minite enjoyable. If I had my two cents to add, it would be to make the portions a bit heftier, as all plates seemed like hors d'oeuvres. A wonderfull night nonetheless.
Alexander C — Google review
What a gem of a restaurant! From the moment we stepped inside to the time we left, the staff was attentive, knowledgeable and efficient. The food was utterly divine! The warm seafood salad melted in our mouths and the sea bass was sensational... as were the cocktails! We could not recommend this restaurant enough!

Absolutely outstanding experience at Langousteria in Santa Margherita! We visited with a large group for several extended lunches and were amazed by the fast, efficient, and genuinely warm hospitality of the entire team—even at short notice. The quality, freshness, and presentation of the seafood were exceptional, truly prepared to the highest standard. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated, spotless, and extremely comfortable. Everything, from the ambience to the attentive service, was perfect. A special mention to the manager, Giovanni, whose leadership is evident in every detail—he ensured everything ran flawlessly and made each guest feel at home. Having dined at top seafood restaurants around Europe, I can honestly say Langousteria is among the very best—surpassing even famous names like Lobito de Mar in Marbella. Highly recommended for anyone seeking an unforgettable seafood dining experience!

We enjoyed this restaurant so much we dined here twice in our 3 days! The cocktails, Lobster Pasta, gnocchi, appetizers and desserts were all so amazing in such a beautiful and special ambiance. And of course the views are amazing and out of this world!

La Terrazza is a restaurant located within the legendary Belmond Splendido, perched above a hill overlooking the harbor of Portofino. The view from the terrace is described as beyond amazing, especially during sunset while enjoying a glass of wine and dinner. The atmosphere is unbeatable for couples on a romantic getaway or families exploring the Italian Riviera.
Absolutely spectacular - "bucket list" setting. The service was kind, attentive, knowledgeable, and savvy. The food was the most beautiful I've ever seen, and just as delicious. The music, the setting, and the landscaping were so beautiful. If you're not staying at the Hotel Splendido, or in Portofino, I'd recommend scheduling a transfer service to take you - there are a limited number of cars allowed into Portofino. But the local drivers are allowed to drop off. And it's very hilly, so if you have folks who aren't able to climb a lot of stairs, it's important to drive to the hotel entrance and then walk to the restaurant. We would enthusiastically go back.
Eric S — Google review
Dining at La Terrazza is an unforgettable experience. From the moment you arrive, you’re greeted by breathtaking views that perfectly capture the charm and beauty of Portofino. Whether you’re seated indoors by the panoramic windows or out on the terrace, every glance feels like a postcard. The food is nothing short of spectacular. Every dish is crafted with care, beautifully presented, and bursting with flavor — a perfect balance between authentic tradition and refined culinary artistry. You can truly taste the freshness of the ingredients and the skill of the chef in every bite. Service here is exceptional. The staff are attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable about the menu and genuinely passionate about creating a perfect dining experience. We had the pleasure of being served by Tekla, who is from Georgia — our home country. Meeting her was such a warm surprise, and she guided us perfectly in choosing desserts that ended our meal on the sweetest possible note. La Terrazza is more than just a restaurant; it’s a place where every detail, from the cuisine to the view to the warm hospitality, is executed at the highest level. A must-visit for anyone looking to savor the finest of Portofino.

We spent three days at the hotel and ate twice at this restaurant. The view was breathtaking, and the staff was professional, as one would expect. The Liz Taylor pasta was delicious, as were all the pastas. Unfortunately, the meat and fish courses were not up to standard on both occasions. Vladi entertained us with his great music and made us forget about both the fish and meat! 🎹 🪇

I've dinned at both Splendido Grill and La Terraza on different occasions, and although dining at the Grill was a great experience, La Terraza definitely stood out. First and foremost, thank you, Gabriel, for your unmatched hospitality and kindness towards our 5 year old. She still raves about the flowers you picked for her to match her dress and bag. What a beautiful way to set the tune for the rest of our day. I absolutely adore Portofino, it will forever be one of m favourite places, and the views from this particular spot are unrivalled. The atmosphere is calm and very pleasant. Food is exceptional. Can't wait to return.

Absolutely beautiful view with unblocked Portofino scenery. Tubetti Pasta and sea urchin risotto tasted amazing and also loved the Ligure prawn which was very fresh. Felt like fish-chips was not really worth the price as there was only 1 or 2pieces of fish and the remaining were vegetables. Overall the service was good and satisfied with the experience.

Had a lovely lunch experience at La Terrazza in Portofino! The service was attentive and friendly, and the food was delicious. I especially enjoyed the vitello tonnato and pasta. But the real highlight? The view. Absolutely breathtaking! Dining with that stunning Portofino scenery in the background made the whole experience unforgettable. Would definitely recommend for a relaxing meal with a view you won’t forget. 🌅🍝✨

Agririfugio Molini is a rural farmstay located in the Portofino Natural Park, accessible only by hiking trails. The simple rooms offer Wi-Fi and breakfast. Guests can enjoy trekking in the area and take romantic strolls along the beautiful promenade connecting S. Margherita Ligure, Paraggi, and Portofino. Despite being a bit pricey for some, it's considered a modest ask for the experience offered.
We went there for snack only. Unfortunately tagliere was not available (kitchen closed) but wine, dolci and farm products were all great. Location is beautiful and service was very kind.

This was perhaps doomed from the start. I found this accommodation on Google Maps and fell in love with the idea of staying in the wilderness overlooking the Ligurian sea. This place is completely *inaccessible* to anyone who is not backpacking which is not clearly communicated on their website. The offer of using the monorail for heavier luggage is smoke and mirrors. When attempting to journey to the accommodation I sought assistance from the owner who was most unhelpful and pitiless to my distress (I was lost on the trail at the time). Don't bother trying to make this your grail...it's not going to happen. I ended up staying in Santa Margherita Ligure and day tripping to San Fruttuoso.
Anya K — Google review
We hiked up from the cove for dinner service and this was the best meal and experience we had during our stay in San Fruttuoso. If you are looking to try Authentic Liguria food this is the place. We ate at a shared table with others who were lodging or also hiking and what a wonderful experience it was to dine with other nationalities. The service was lovely, kind and helpful. We ate many dishes, you will not leave hungry. Eating from a set menu it was all fresh and tasty, with the pesto gnocchi starter and rabbit main deserving a special mention. The children enjoyed "the best meatballs" they've ever tried and they are fussy at the best of times! Had it been a warmer evening it's possible to dine outside and take in the stunning views. After we finished dinner we then enjoyed the night trek back down the hill with head torches, again a magical experience for us and our children (our youngest is 12 and managed the walk up without issue, just wear sensible shoes). Not for those who don't enjoy a hike along trails.

I stayed here as a 24 year old backpacking my way from Camogli to Portofino. The price was expensive for me then but looking back a very modest ask. I was late coming to check in.. very late. I had to call the host to tell him I'd be late because I had missjudged the walking distance to San Frutsuosso and got lost in the woods a few times. The host, a man whose name I have forgotten but whose kindness I will never, told me not to worry. He actually stayed up, waited for me to arrive and served me a three course dinner for one at 1100 pm.. He gave me so much food I actually couldn't finish it all! The location of this hotel is something I'll never to forget. You wake up and you can see the mountains on either side of the valley and the ocean. You can easily walk down the hill to town and to the beach. The water there is a crystal blue with big waves that pull you in quick. I think about this place whenever I need to escape in my brain to a time when I had been way too sure of myself and it worked out fine. Not because of my own ingenuity but because this place welcomed me in like a family. Please tip the hosts here they live locally and this is one of the few jobs around.

Fantastic place, only accecible by hiking the mountainbike trails. The very kind and welcoming staff, together with the stunning location made this a memorable experience. We stayed with our kids, youngest being 7, and they did the hikes very well. Prices ver reasonable, especially considering the logistics, where that the staff carries the majority of groceries up or down the mountainbike slopes.

This is an absolutely lovely place to stay - San Fruttuoso is definitely worth spending a night, very comfortable, clean, client-friendly, and eco-responsible. Emanuela answering to my messages, Alessandro taking care of the clients and the chef Stefano (you should definitely opt for the dinner there, it’s something!) did their best to make the stay just amazing. The views are awesome, the sleep was so peaceful with the sound of river nearby. Really appreciated flexible check-in hours. Grazie, merci, spasiba, thank you, it’s a gem!

On a roundtrip from Camogli to D. Fruttuoso, the ship not running due to waves, the bars at the bay below kind of uncertainly open, we had finally the chance to sit down and enjoy a piece of cake and a juice. Position and difficulty to bring food makes it not easy to carry goods, so it is not as cheap as one may think.

A hidden gem in Portofino, DÖ Batti is a wonderful restaurant with quality food. The service, food, and ambiance are perfect. If you want king prawns, go there. The octopus is the best dish eaten in the last three years. They also bring limoncello and other liquor after dinner on house.
The food is really good, l made the reservation in person and we came on time and has a good meal. The deserts are very good. Main dish also good but nothing special. We are 5 people and we paid 250€, the prices are indeed not cheap.

We were recommended this for the “batti prawns”. The food was good but not great. We also had the basil pasta also good but we had an even better one the night before. Very nice restroom. This can always be an issue in Italy. A little slow the night we were there but good atmosphere. We would probably come back but it’s not on our must do if we were.

The best restaurant we have eaten at for years. The team and family are so welcoming, smiley and genuine from the moment you arrive. Nothing is too much to ask and it gave off a lovely homely feel, definitely not a ‘trap’ like so many others. The food was incredible and they can be sure we will be back. You could tell that some of the customers there had been going back for years which is always a good sign! The place itself is beautifully tucked away in the side streets and has a lovely relaxed atmosphere to it, you can be dressed up or dressed down and still be welcomed, and not look out of place. Trust us and you won’t regret it.

This one was one of the best restaurants i have been to in Italy. Very small and run by an old lady and her husband, the vibe is very cozy and the food is to die for. We ordered one order of linguistine then ordered another then another.. totaling 4 orders, then we got two extra orders of risotto! The linguistine was so delicious I wanted to take some extra to go. Amazing place in Portofino. It’s a truly hidden gem. We ordered the pesto and octupus. Everything was outstanding, it’s quite and you can tell beloved my locals. Don’t miss it!!

disproportionate price for 200g of pasta with 7 shells on a plate. another tourist trap. the waiter is in a hurry to remove the basket of bread that we pay 5€/person for. we eat nothing for an excessively expensive price.

We had a lot of fun eating here at our day in portofino. The staff was friendly and though pricey and no view, the food was good and we enjoyed our experience. Get the shrimps if you wanna crack open a few unreal ones! But get ready to put your bib on and pay up!

Day 2

Northeast side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the northeast side side of town. Start the day off with Faro di Portofino, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Castello di Santa Margherita Ligure. All together, your day would be filled with about 8 hours of non-stop fun.

Nestled at the tip of the stunning Italian Riviera, Faro di Portofino is a captivating lighthouse that beckons adventurous souls. Accessible only by hiking, this scenic spot rewards visitors with breathtaking views of the Ligurian Sea and surrounding cliffs. The journey to reach this iconic landmark is as enchanting as the destination itself, winding through rugged coastal trails adorned with vibrant flora and offering glimpses of charming pastel buildings dotting Portofino's landscape.
take care if you're mobility limited, the walk is very steep and there are steps, however there are lots of stopping places, and the views are spectacular! the faro itself isn't open but there is a very welcome bar that serves drinks with a view!

After a long walk starting from the stairs next to the Portofino marina, you can enjoy the view and finally visit the area next to the lighthouse of Portofino. The view is breathtaking. I strongly recommend avoiding warm weather.

Get there early to avoid the limited tables which fill quickly after 11 am. Fantastic views. Good service and selection of drinks.

Very beautiful place, although it was very warm the road is overgrown and largely obscured by vegetation. Beautiful views definitely recommend !

A pretty cool spot overlooking the edge of the Mediterranean. The walk is pretty long and views are okay, but can be too far for some.

Sights & Landmarks
Castello Brown, a 1557 castle turned museum and event venue, offers visitors a glimpse into the past with its art and antiquities. The castle is surrounded by a lush Italian garden and boasts stunning views of the bay. From its terrace, guests can take in panoramic views of Portofino, making it a must-see attraction in the area.
Insta: @planterik If you’re visiting Portofino and want to escape the touristy crowds for a bit, climbing up to Castello Brown is an absolute must. Once you make it up the steps, you’re greeted by a charming historic castle with incredible panoramic views of the harbor and the open sea. And the best part? It’s only €5 to enter, and totally worth it. We went before noon and it was surprisingly quiet—even on a weekend. No queues, no crowds—just peace and beautiful scenery. The castle itself is cool inside (literally—air conditioning in summer is a win), and there’s a lovely little café with a terrace offering amazing views. Prices were super reasonable too: €2 for a croissant and €4 for an iced latte. There are no discounted tickets for students, kids, or seniors, but honestly, the views alone make it a great value. Every corner offers a new breathtaking photo op. Highly recommend this spot if you’re in Portofino. It’s a peaceful break from the bustle and gives you a fresh perspective—literally and figuratively.
Erik E — Google review
The best place to enjoy Portofino's stunning views is from here. It's a 15-20 minute uphill walk. Entry costs 8 euros per person. There's also a small cafe inside. You can reach it by following the pier or the church.

This place was better then expected. My wife and I were on a cruise and did not book an excursion. We got off and walked over, paid 16 euros and were delighted with the views. It’s a little hike that would be difficult for people with mobility issues but it’s worth the effort!

Bit of a climb, but an amazing view! You can go inside, but nothing special. Just right for 8 euros entrance. We also sat on the terrace, witch had some Black Eyed Peas ambiance. Very fitting, haha.

Very nice place to visit, wonderful view on sea and Portofino town. The castle is a silent witness to famous visitors from the world of cinema of the 60s and 70s and you will find numerous photographs of them in the halls of the permanent exhibition organized here.

The views are nice and the castle history is interesting. It's also a nice walk through a nature area. A walk to the lighthouse from there is ok, and there's a basic café.

Chiesa di San Giorgio, located in Portofino, offers breathtaking panoramic views of the town and the sea. To avoid crowds, visitors can take a scenic hike up to the church through an inclined road or stairs. The church itself has a modern exterior and a traditional interior, situated on a hill with stunning scenery along the way. For an even more secluded experience, guests can continue their ascent to Brown Castle for unparalleled vistas of Portofino from its terrace.
The Chiesa di San Giorgio (1760) and adjacent Castello San Giorgio occupy a ridge between the sea and Portofino, Italy. A large Catholic cemetery is behind the church which is perched on the edge of rugged cliffs.

Beautiful viewpoint in Portofino! Chiesa di San Giorgio is definitely worth the walk uphill. It takes a bit of effort to get there, but the views are amazing—you can see the town on one side and the sea with rocky cliffs on the other. A peaceful spot with stunning scenery!

We visited Chiesa di San Giorgio early in the morning around 7:30 am after arriving from our cruise ship, and it was such a peaceful experience. With hardly anyone around, we could fully take in the charm and history of this beautiful chapel. It’s a short uphill walk—about 10 minutes from the harbor—but well worth it. Learning about its past and connection to Saint George was fascinating, and the panoramic view overlooking Portofino and the Ligurian Sea was absolutely breathtaking. A must-visit for both history lovers and anyone who appreciates a stunning viewpoint.

The Chiesa di San Giorgio Church in Portofino, Metropolitan City of Genoa, Italy, is open to the public and visitors to go inside. Entrance is generally free. There might be a fee for special events or exhibitions. To reach the church from Portofino’s harbor requires climbing 185 steps; therefore, check for events beforehand. From its hilltop position, the church provides stunning views across Portofino and the harbor. This church sits halfway up the hill leading to Castello Brown. Inside, you can admire frescoes and religious artifacts, and experience the peaceful atmosphere. The church is typically open from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm daily. Holy Mass is held on Saturdays at 6:00 pm and Sundays at 10:30 am and 6:00 pm.

Very little church and completely closed for tourists (probably only Sunday masses and that’s it). Why? Why not to open it up for all those tourists? I really don’t get it. Way most interesting was the cemetery behind the building.

Gelateria Gepi Portofino offers a delightful selection of gelato flavors, including hazelnut, cinnamon, and fig, as well as Italian specialties like cannoli and coffee with whipped cream. The store provides the option to enjoy your treats on outdoor seating or for take-away. While slightly pricier than other gelaterias in Italy, the quality is top-notch.
We came here every day during our 4 day stay in Portofino. The gelato is amazing, the cappuccino is the best we had in town, and the croissants were super fresh. Friendly staff and great prices too. A must visit.

Best gelato i have ever had. Amazing taste and we wanted to have more. Located near the center just a bit of walking. It was very crowded and also you can use the bathroom which was a plus. Highly recommended and i will definitely go again
Melissa A — Google review
The ice cream is really good and you can tell it’s high quality. One evening we stopped by around eight, when they were almost closing, and a tall, dark-haired girl kindly opened the door for us and served us ice cream — a really nice gesture! The next day, because we had such a good impression, we went back, but unfortunately found another girl, shorter with Asian features, who was rather rude. It’s a pity, because the ice cream is excellent, but the service should always be at the same level.

Believe or not, we had 3 gelato cones a day at this place. It was exquisite. The texture was right, the flavors were great and the price was not crazy regarding the whole Portofino scene. Honestly, pistachio is never overrated and it's the best flavor.

I’m not a huge icecream fan, but I was in Italy’s Porto Fino in 30c heat, so saw this quaint little gelateria and decided to try both the dark chocolate and pistachio flavours .. normally I’m underwhelmed by most icecream parlours try at creating exquisite frozen desserts, but I must say that this truly was exquisite in my opinion .. the dark chocolate was as chocolatey as you will find, luxuriously creamy and full of chocolate sweetness.. the pistachio tastes exactly like what it was. All in all , extremely satisfying even for a non ice cream lover .

Area Marina Protetta di Portofino is a stunning marine reserve in Liguria, offering breathtaking views of rugged cliffs, clear waters, and diverse marine life. The park features well-preserved paths through Mediterranean vegetation leading to panoramic viewpoints and pristine beaches. While popular and catering to visitors with varying budgets, it remains relatively underrated, making it an ideal destination for nature lovers seeking a more secluded experience.
Amazing but underrated place. We haven't met a lot of tourists (which is actually cool). The view is breathtaking. Just take a look at these photos and imagine yourself beeing there. My mind was blown. If you love the nature, I totally recommand !
Jady — Google review
A truly stunning park, on par with the Cinque Terre one, which one cannot avoid visiting during a holiday in Liguria. It comprises several well preserved paths, accurately signalled, which cross typical Mediterranean vegetation and lead to breathtaking panoramic points or beaches with clear water. The places I recommend above all are the war bunkers ('Batterie'), where incredible sunsets over the sea can be admired, the small rocky peninsula of Punta Chiappa, and the ancient abbey and beach in San Fruttuoso, where the famous underwater statue Cristo degli Abissi also is. The park can be reached by the train stations of Camogli or Santa Margherita: some paths start from these two towns, and otherwise it is possible to take a bus to either San Rocco or Portofino or a boat to Punta Chiappa and San Fruttuoso. If it's summer, take a swimsuit (and expect a bit of crowd in the most popular and touristic locations, San Fruttuoso and Portofino, especially on weekends). Refer to the website of the park for a detailed explanation of the paths.

Beautiful and picturesque little port with an even better view from the hills surrounding the port. Funda T — Google review
We've visited Portofino before. In Corona times. And it was busy even then. Now of course it was even busier. But it's a place worth visiting. The town itself is pretty compact and easy to walk. The main attraction and heart of it is of course the Marina with the boats, Yachts and all the colorful buildings. And the Castle sitting on top of the hill, overlooking the Marina. There are some special events sometimes. Like this time. Wine, cheese, meat. All kinds of things to taste and buy right on the Marina. Get a drink in a restaurant or Cafe to watch the world go by. Or bring some picnic with and sit down on one of the many benches around the Marina. This time we left the car in Santa Margherita, where we stayed for a few days and took the bus here and the ferry back. Way better and easier. Parking is limited and expensive. It's best to take the public transportations if possible. Portofino is a pretty town. But don't miss out on Santa Margherita, Lerici or Camogli. All worth a trip.

Beautiful location, lots of shops and restaurants. If you're just there for a little sightseeing, a few hours should do it. Worth the trip, though!

A must visit, best to travel by boat to it. Costs €11 from the other ports. The views are much better from the sea. Traveling by car is not recommend, the bus service is good and cheap but can be crowded.

Portofino maybe small but is such a pretty fishing village with so much to offer. Nice boutiques to look into and plenty of choices of bars & restaurants overlooking the water. You can stay here for the day...chill & watch the world go by or you can catch a boat that can take you to Margharita the next town or village ( however the Italians calls it 😊) to explore..either way both if these coastal towns are worth a visit when the wind takes you in this part of the world. I fully recommend to check these places

Nestled in the heart of Santa Margherita Ligure, the Castello di Santa Margherita Ligure stands as a testament to the town's rich history and stunning coastal beauty. The Castello di Santa Margherita Ligure (1550) at Santa Margherita Ligure, Italy, was built by the Genoese to defend against raids by Barbary pirates but that role became redundant in the 18th century when the attacks ceased.
David S — Google review
About the castle: Construction began in 1550 and were completed in September of the same year. From the 18th century it lost military importance, thanks above all to the ceased pirate invasions, and therefore received only some repair and maintenance work. About the expedition: Open every Sunday morning from 10:00 to 12:00, even in April. The multimedia exhibition spaces of the 16th century castle of Santa Margherita Ligure tell the story of our sea and our seabed, with talking paintings, touch screens, projections and archaeological finds Entrance fee cost of a few EUR.

Al Faro di Portofino Lounge Bar is a charming and somewhat hidden gem nestled in the beautiful town of Portofino. It's well worth the moderate hike up to the lighthouse, offering a pit stop at this quaint cafe bar with breathtaking views of the Italian Riviera. The staff is friendly, and they serve refreshing drinks like the Portofinese Spritz. While food options are limited, their cocktails are great.

At the end of the walk to the point in Portofino you find this little bar; just in time on a hot day. two versions of it; we went to the second one. A bit busy as you would expect for such a marvellous spot. However as usual a bit of charm and the staff are super helpful. We loved the swordfish with grapefruit and an excellent panini. Well done all !

Amazing seascape and horizontal eternal view! Nice and friendly personnel. It's expensive to drink a coffee or to buy a water, but! we pay for an atmosphere, view, possibility to sit down after a difficult hiking trip there! All worth it! 3 euro per espresso and 3 euro per a bottle of a water.
Arkadiy K — Google review
This is a nice cafe at the end of a fairly long walk. Views over the sea are amazing. The seating area however is small with not enough sun shades. 1 person smoking can affect 3/4 of the seating which, if you don't like breathing in smoke, is not ideal. Menu is reasonable and it's not too expensive, especially considering it's technically Portofino, but you should go here only really expecting a drink or some ice cream (which is generous), not much more.

We visited on a Wednesday and had a really nice time. A bit hidden away from the touristic area the lounge is located and ready to serve some delicious drinks with a great view guaranteed. We had a cold chocolate and a Virgin Mojito. The Mojito was good but mostly made out of ice-cubes, leaving me wanting more. However, we did get olives, chips and nuts to go with it which kinda made up for it. In general it’s a nice romantic place and definitely worth a visit! Kinda bad music tho lol

Avoid this place at all costs. I had a deeply disappointing experience here and would not recommend it to anyone, locals or tourists. I’m Italian, born and raised, currently living in Australia. Yesterday, I visited Portofino with my Australian partner, who doesn’t speak or understand Italian and was visiting Italy for the first time. I was excited to share some fresh Ligurian focaccia and the kind of traditional panini Italy is famous for. We stopped by this bakery hoping to grab a quick bite before heading to the beach. I asked in Italian if they made panini, and a younger staff member confirmed they did. While I was translating to my partner in English, the older lady behind the counter suddenly became extremely rude and aggressive. I politely asked for bresaola, one of the meats we were offered, and that’s when she began abusing me, first in Italian, then in Ligurian dialect (which I understand perfectly). I calmly let her know that I understood every word and asked if she could be a bit kinder, as I was simply trying to order what was already offered. Shockingly, the rudeness continued. She said that making a panino was a huge favor, even though we were paying customers and asked for nothing out of the ordinary and she wasn't even serving us and the bakery has just another client in she was attending to. That gentleman she was serving was very embarrassed meanwhile my partner was very confused since he did not understand a word. In the end, I told her to keep the panino and walked out, completely shocked and embarrassed, especially because this was my partner’s first taste of Italy, and this kind of hostility is not at all representative of true Italian hospitality. It’s incredibly disappointing to be treated with such disrespect in your own country, especially when you're trying to share it with someone you care about. Sadly, Portofino only has 2 bakeries, and perhaps this gives some people the impression they can treat customers however they like. I strongly suggest supporting other local businesses where respect and kindness are still part of the culture. Italian hospitality should be warm, generous, and welcoming. This experience was anything but.

It’s hard to find options in Portofino, so we stopped at this small supermarket. Unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience. The selection is limited, everything is seriously overpriced (even for Portofino), and the quality doesn’t justify the cost. The person working there seemed uninterested and unfriendly — not sure why, but it made the atmosphere quite uncomfortable. Only stop here if you really have no other choice.
Amir K — Google review
Terrible service. Only one lady working, glued to her phone the whole time, completely ignoring customers. She forgot to say hello or thank you. Honestly, even a random fast-food place in the U.S. would treat you better. It’s way too expensive for what you get. Hardly any choice on the menu either. Definitely not worth it.

Restaurant
Located in a picturesque setting with both indoor and outdoor seating offering stunning views of the docks and surrounding woods, Strainer is a popular restaurant known for its delectable dishes. The "Strainer Style" shrimps and the "Gerardo Style" sea bass are standout menu items. Visitors praise the attentive staff, including Ivan, William, and Miguel, who provide excellent service. Guests also appreciate the reasonably priced menu options and well-crafted cocktails.
Everything about this place is AMAZING! Gorgeous view, superb service, and some of the best food we have had in Italy! The cheese wheel pasta with truffle was perfect! Be sure to try some of the other dishes too as they are all delicious! We will definitely return.
Rana A — Google review
This was the absolute best experience I've ever had at a restaurant! The most delicious parmesan wheel pasta, quite literally the top number one dish I'll ever have in my life. The absolute BEST atmosphere for a restaurant, right by the water and perfect for any dinner you'll want to book. I fully recommend this place to anyone visiting Portofino and any surrounding towns/city.
Brisa V — Google review
This restaurant is hands down one of the best in Portofino. Every dish is exquisitely crafted, offering flavors that are both refined and exceptional. I highly recommend trying the ravioli with lobster—it’s a masterpiece! The truffle pasta is also a must-try, absolutely mouthwatering. In fact, it’s safe to say this place even outshines Dav Mare. An unforgettable dining experience!
Mira S — Google review
Simply overpriced. €16 for an Aperol that was far from worth it. The starters, like the tomato and mozzarella, felt ridiculous for the price and not what was shown in photos or served to other tables. The fish was fine, but overall the quality does not match the cost. The owner wasn't really nice, and the service didn’t feel right for what you pay. Honestly, the bar just across the street treated us much better for the same price.
Julia B — Google review
Every aspect of the evening was amazing. Our hosts took such good care of us and the food was extraordinary. We love Italian food. The from pasta Bolognese made perfectly to mussels in wine sauce and spaghetti vongole... Everything was great. But the crown was the special pasta with truffles made in a parmesan wheel. I've tried this dish at many restaurants, but now I understand why it is such a specialty. Dessert topped it off with tiramisu and a ricotta cake with chocolate sauce. Thank you for the wonderful evening!
Alex R — Google review
We’ve been to Strainer over 15 years ago and returned today. The pasta and seafood are absolutely amazing! The service was fantastic and the wine recommendation was perfect with the truffle pasta in the Parmesan cheese wheel. Absolutely perfect lunch, again!
Jacob E — Google review
Wow, I do not understand why the overall rating for this place is so low. I highly recommend eating at Strainer! The food was awesome and the prices were reasonable for Portofino. The view is beautiful. This was our favorite place that we ate in Portofino and it ended up being way better than some other higher rated restaurants in the area.

THE best restaurant I've been to in Italy, the staff was friendly, prompt, and not to mention the food was incredible! I had the tagliolini con tarufono (cheese wheel pasta) and it was everything I hoped for and more. The pesto and carbonara was also exquisite! I would recommend this place to anyone that wants an excellent/relaxing dining experience

DaV Mare is a renowned bar located at Hotel Splendido Mare in Portofino. It's highly recommended for its exceptional cocktails crafted by local mixologists Paolo Gastaldo and Vincenzo D'Amato. The bar offers a variety of unique creations as well as classic favorites.
DaV Mare offers an exceptional dining experience in the stunning setting of Portofino. With a focus on fresh, local seafood, every dish is a masterpiece, beautifully prepared and bursting with Mediterranean flavors. Highlights include the delicate fish dishes and perfectly crafted pastas, all paired with an excellent wine selection. The chic, waterfront atmosphere adds to the charm, making it the ideal spot for a romantic dinner or special occasion. With impeccable service and an unforgettable view, DaV Mare is a true highlight of the Italian Riviera. Stopping by for a lunch is an absolute must!

I think this is one of my favourite restaurants I went to during my trip! Service was exceptional, the waiters were clear professionals and were super kind to us. The food was well presented and absolutely delicious. I loved every single dish from starters to dessert! I also loved how they gave us traditional italian desserts to taste at the end of our lunch. Definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a wonderful dining experience!

We recently visited Dav Mare in and had their bar menu. Overall, it was an average experience. The fried calamari was unfortunately too salty for our taste, which was disappointing. As for the pizza, it was more like a soggy piece of bread with warm sauce rather than what we expected. However, the burrata was quite nice, both in taste and presentation. On a positive note, the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, which made our visit more pleasant. Additionally, the bathroom was very clean, which is always appreciated. While some aspects of our meal could be improved, the welcoming atmosphere and cleanliness were definite highlights.

I didn't see if DaV has any Michelin stars, but they should. Great service with table-side presentations. The meal started with a delicious amuse bouche from the chef (ours was a little pie-like pastry filled with a shrimp mousse and some pesto). For my meal I had the pasta with pesto, and for dessert I had strawberry ice cream with fresh strawberries and pineapple, both dishes were delicious. At the end of the meal the pastry chef came around with a cart and filled complementary little sugar cones with a vanilla creme and presented those and various sweet petit fours for us to enjoy. A top-notch meal with top-notch service.

I was too skeptical when my sister insisted in going to this place (I mean we were gonna break the bank cuz it was a five start hotel restaurant). We decided to try out the breakfast instead of dinner (after rescheduling for the 3rd time, the staff was very accommodating). The price tag may seem high but it was so worth for me. We got eggs, toast and some pastries. The presentation and pastry selection met the expectation. We laughed so hard when more pastries just kept coming. The hot chocolate was good. Coffee latte was decent. They even served bread with butter and jams on the side for breakfast which was insane. Service 10/10. Very attentive and supportive. I did not regret having brunch there.

Day 3

Off the beaten path
For day 3, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Villa Durazzo. Not quite as popular as Castello Brown, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 7 hours.

Villa Durazzo is a stunning 17th-century villa located in Santa Margherita Ligure, Italy. Originally built as a summer residence for the Durazzo family, it now stands as a historical landmark open to the public. The villa boasts period furniture, paintings, and manicured gardens with exotic plants, cobblestone tracks, neoclassical sculptures, and plant racks. Visitors can enjoy picturesque views of the gulf from this hilltop estate.
The Villa Durazzo-Pallavicini is a villa with notable 19th-century park in the English romantic style and a small botanical garden. The villa now houses the Museo di Archeologia Ligure, and is located at Via Pallavicini 13, immediately next to the railway station in Pegli, a suburb of Genoa, Italy. The park and botanical garden are open daily except mondays. The estate was begun in the late 17th century by Clelia Durazzo Grimaldi, who established the Giardino botanico Clelia Durazzo Grimaldi at that time. Today's park was created by her nephew Ignazio Alessandro Pallavicini after he inherited the property. The park was designed by Michele Canzio, set designer for the Teatro Carlo Felice, and built between 1840 and 1846. It covers some 97,000 m2 of hillside behind the villa. Although recognizably in the English romantic style, the garden is highly theatrical, to the point of being organized as a series of scenes forming a play with prologue and three acts (Return to Nature, Memory, Purification). Structures and statues through the garden form focal points to this libretto. When the park opened in September 1846, on the occasion of the VIII Congresso degli Scienziati Italiani, it quickly gained national fame. In 1928 its current owner, Matilde Gustinani, donated both park and botanical garden to Genoa for use as a public park. Through the remainder of the 20th century, the garden fell into some disrepair, and indeed was threatened in 1972 by construction of a nearby highway. Its restoration began in 1991, however, in honor of Columbus' discovery of America. As of 2006 about half of the park is open for visitors. In 2017 the park was elected the most beautiful garden in Italy. The park contains two ponds, a dozen notable structures, various statues, and an extensive grotto. The grotto represents a Dantesque inferno, with walkways and subterranean lake through which the visitor may ascend to paradise. In former years, visitors could explore the grotto by boat. Structures include a Coffee House in the shape of triumphal arch, Rustic House, Madonna's Chapel, Mausoleum of the Captain, Temple of Diana, Flower House, Turkish Temple, Obelisk, and Chinese Pagoda. The park also contains a number of plantings of botanical interest, including mature specimens of Araucaria bidwillii, Cedrus libani, Cinnamomum camphora, Jubaea chilensis, Picconia excelsa, Firmiana simplex, Quercus suber, Podocarpus macrophyllus, many exotic palms and a stand of some 160 Camellia japonica.

Villa Durazzo is truly one of the most royal and beautiful villas I have ever seen. Surrounded by peaceful gardens and timeless architecture, it offers a sense of quiet elegance that feels almost magical. The atmosphere is unique — a perfect blend of history, beauty, and serenity — making it an unforgettable place to visit.
KETEVAN G — Google review
The gardens of Villa Durazzo are absolutely breathtaking filled with statues, palm trees and a sense of deep history that you can feel in every corner. It’s one of those places that instantly takes you back in time. We had the joy of photographing a wedding there, and the combination of timeless beauty, sea views, and elegant architecture made it a truly unforgettable celebration.

Churches & Cathedrals
Chiesa di Santa Margherita, located in Piazza San Siro in Santa Margherita Ligure, is a Catholic place of worship known for its remarkable interior design and a wooden statue of the Virgin Mary inside the chapel on the left side of the main nave. The church boasts stunning baroque architecture with opulent gold leaf decorations, intricate frescoes, elegant chandeliers, and beautiful stained glass windows that will leave you in awe.
The construction of the current church dates back to 1658, and it was solemnly consecrated on 23 September 1770 by the archbishop of Genoa.
Levente M — Google review
The Basilica of Santa Margherita is dedicated to Saint Margaret of Antioch. Entrance to the basilica is free, and the church is open daily. Construction of the current church began in 1658 on the foundations of an earlier, 13th-century chapel or church. The architectural design is attributed to Giovanni Battista Ghiso (or G. B. Ghisio), a significant figure in Ligurian Baroque. During construction and subsequent adaptations, the façade's orientation was changed. In the 18th century, a new bell tower (campanile) was added to the façade—designed by Carlo Orsolino (1750)—and alterations were made to the façade. The old stone bell tower was demolished in 1786. Architecture Style: Ligurian Baroque. Plan: Latin cross church, three naves separated by columns, with a dome above the intersection of the cross's arms. The façade: divided into three sections, with a double order of columns (binate columns), stucco decorations and sculptures, including depictions of the apostles Peter and Paul in niches on the sides. Reliefs are incorporated above the side façade or side elements, such as the scene "The Calling of St. Peter" in an octagonal field above the side portal. Interior: three naves, a dome, and richly decorated decorative details. Relics of Saint Margaret are present: urns containing her remains and (from 1724) also the "precious blood" (sangue prezioso). A place of worship and devotion for the parish, the basilica—that is, a church particularly distinguished by its title. Architecturally, Santa Margherita Ligure is an important landmark for visitors.

Nestled between the charming towns of Santa Margherita Ligure and Portofino, Cervara Abbey is a captivating former monastic complex that dates back to 1361. Originally founded by Genoese monk Ottone Lanfranco, this historical site features stunning medieval architecture and a serene Renaissance-style garden that invites visitors to explore its beauty. The abbey includes several rooms surrounding the Church of San Girolamo, along with a picturesque cloister and an ancient tower that add to its allure.
Fabulous place on Portofino mountain, nice terraces and superb sea views.

Beautiful old abbey with its gardens, definetly worth visiting
MiiaKoi — Google review
The Abbey is a beautiful and peaceful place to visit. Since the Abbey is a private residence, it is only open to the public on Sunday from 1000 to 1200. The tours are guided and provide the Abbey's history in both Italian and English. The Abbey's gardens are spectacular. There is no parking on the grounds.

La Cervara is one of the most exquisite and beautiful abbeys in the world. The views from the abbey are breathtaking. We were fortunate enough to have our wedding at La Cervara. The staff were very professional and both the wedding and reception were seamless. Our guests thoroughly enjoyed the dinner. The seafood is utterly amazing. If you are looking to get married in the Portofino area, we highly recommend La Cervara.
Phil S — Google review
The location managers invent costs that were not discussed in advance. The staff is unfriendly, the food is below average and the communication with the location is a nightmare. Hands off! This is a rip-off! Never experienced such a bad behavior of location managers.

Beautiful place awful experience. We were literally kicked out from this sanctuary at we just set for a short break there after a long hike from S. Margherita Ligure.
Amit B — Google review
Abbazia della Cervara was built in 1361 and is surrounded by formal gardens. Over the centuries, the abbey has hosted Benedictine monks, three popes and a saint (Catherine of Siena), and the French king, François I, who spent a less convivial time here as a prisoner after the 1525 Battle of Pavia. Tours take in the gardens, 15th-century chapterhouse, 16th-century cloister and the Saracen Tower.

We happened upon this spot while walking to Portofino and could walk no further. We enjoyed delicious cocktails overlooking the beautiful crystal clear water in Paraggi. The service was amazing and I must give a special shout out to Andrea for his warmth and enthusiasm. We enjoyed our time so much that we had to come back for a second visit and I’m sure we will return…

The price is definitely on a high side, but it was worth if considering the attentive services from the staffs, private locker room, toilet, shower with dior shower gel and safety guard standby. Pasta tasted great- simple but delicious and we were able to spend great time with beautiful Portofino views. Just take note that served water is also chargeable for 2 euro per bottle as we originally assumed that it is a complimentary service. The sunbeds and overall facilities were maintained in a good condition and it was worth the experience
Lea A — Google review
We visited this beach during their Dior takeover in October 2025 and it was everything a classy beachclub could offer. Their setting is idyllic and the new design takes it up a few more notches. There are a variety of seating and loungers available, all rather affordable and a beautiful restaurant for seafood and local delights. The staff were super polite and they had even swapped a wine bottle once we've noticed that we had ordered the wrong one. It's only a 6min taxi ride away from Portofino, we tried to approach by sea but you cannot access it without needing to jump into the sea. Highly recommend!

Bad experience for the second time and the last time of this place . anyone who sits on such a high horse falls even lower That’s not the Dior quality thats te price from Dior and the service from discounts

Horrible service and hospitality in comparison to the price you pay - an employee guided us to the “bar area” and a table, where a bit later another employee told us that this table is reserved (no reserved sign). He did not offer any alternative, so we stayed at the table and asked him to get in touch w/ his colleague who guided us from the entrance 😎. After a third staff member was handing us the menu and we ordered (why did we actually stay?) staff member#2 gave us the wrong bill - all of the sudden even more expensive than the at best mediocre stuff we ordered 😉… We requested the correct bill, got it immediately, paid w/o any tip and will never return 👎

Most amazing beach experience. The service was incredible. The new management has really made a difference. Josep was the best host for us and really made us feel at home. 10/10 recommend over all other beach clubs in Portofino.

The most expensive beach in Portofino. We paid 450 € for 2 people only for the ENTRANCE. Also they charged 45 € for the parking. The food is also expensive in Langosteria but the seafood is so delicious. The beach is decorated by Dior. The service and the staff is really good and kind. Because of our honeymoon they served us a complimentary Chandon. This is so lovely. The price is little high but they deserve it.

Great services Friendly staff Good coffee and bakeries
Abdulelah A — Google review
Been here three times during my stay, but today will be my last time visiting. I kept returning not because I found them particularly friendly or the coffee to be anything out of the ordinary, but because it’s the closest place to get espresso near my accommodation. Today I asked for my usual cappuccino and orange juice “take-away” because I was bringing it back to my mom who is sick. I saw the woman preparing the orange juice reach for a larger take-away cup before the man next to her instructed her to use the smaller one instead. I was given a tiny espresso cup of orange juice for €4, and what’s worse, is it was only filled half way. When I asked the cashier if that would cost less because the orange juice I’ve had when “dining in” before was at least 3x as large, she replied “if you want bigger it’s €5”. To pay €4 for what probably amounted to two thimbles full of orange juice is shocking. Not sure if I was treated this way because I’m American or if this is how everyone it treated. I tried my best to order in Italian and am always as polite as I can be, but clearly that doesn’t make a difference.

Just found this place this spring. Somehow we missed it last year when we were in town. It's a pretty busy and popular place. Has some tables outside, perfect to enjoy a dessert in the streets of this lovely town. We bought a whole bunch of little cakes and pattisserie to enjoy as dessert and for breakfast. Pistachio cakes, Black Forest cake, Easter/rice cake and more. And also: Cream Puffs. And really, all the items were delicous! The Easter rice cake was probably the best of that kind I've ever had. And the cream puffs are to die for. Divine! Santa Margherita has lots of bakeries and pasticcerias. But this one here is among the very very best. We will definitely be back next year.

Trattoria Concordia is a charming and cozy restaurant located just a short distance from the port in Portofino. The traditional interior and balcony terrace surrounded by greenery create a warm and inviting atmosphere for diners. Despite its affordable prices, the quality of the food impresses customers, making it a popular choice for those seeking delicious meals without breaking the bank. The restaurant's homemade pesto comes highly recommended, and visitors praise the friendly and welcoming service provided by the family-owned establishment.
Very excellent! We had Grilled large prawns and Sour & Sweet shrimps and desserts. And it was so nice, very delicious. We agreed that this meal the best during the time here in Portofino. Moreover, the staff is friendly. This restaurant has the best atmosphere, highly recommend.

A truly memorable dining experience in Portofino. The food was authentic and made with fresh, high-quality ingredients that really stood out. The staff were exceptional, friendly, attentive, and professional. Service was a solid 5/5. The atmosphere was warm and relaxed, with live piano music adding a charming touch. It was also great to see so many locals dining here, which says a lot. Would absolutely return!

We were in Portofino for the day as a cruise stop. This restaurant is near the top of the hill after you wind through the shops near the cruise port. You’ll see a sign near the top of the hill that says TRATTORIA CONCORDIA. It’s worth another 300 feet walk. The red sauce here is excellent, more complex and seasoned than most. Wine by the 1/2 liter was just right and the service was welcoming and efficient.

Daily pasta was delcious, house wine is smooth and good as it has to be, we liked mussels. Calamari was soft. Portofino cream was really good. People are friendly and kind for a family of four. Prices are according to Portofino but we left the trattoria really satisfied and happy , i was not expecting such a perfect classic Italian experience. Thanks 🙏

We ordered two plates of pasta, one was simple with tomato sauce and the other one was with seafood. The one with seafood had barely some fresh seafood in it, very few shrimps and NOT FRESH at all, in place like this it’s usually expected the prices to match the taste of the food, but nope! The shrimps were dried out and not meaty , unfortunately it was a bit disappointing. The staff were friendly though and the wine was ok, but not worth it if you want a good food

Can't praise this restaurant enough. We wanted to find somewhere that wasn't just a tourist trap, and we definitely did. We had a delicious meal in a friendly atmosphere. Ice cream shop
Yesterday, I visited a cafe called Calata 32 by the marina in Portofino. The atmosphere was amazing, with a stunning view of the marina and a refreshing sea breeze. Unlike other establishments in the area which are proper restaurants, this cafe is located right by the water. I decided to indulge myself with two cappuccinos, one chocolate croissant, and a sizable focaccia topped with ham and cheese.
Overpriced for sure. What can you do it’s Portofino BUT we’ve had tons of ice cream in Italy and the pistachio ice cream and nocciala were THE BEST ice cream in the world!!!!!! #1 super creamy. So if you love ice cream worth it. Cafe shakerato also good The rest, not really. And the view ofc

Really nice place in a perfect little town 😊 It is a bit pricey but considering the location, it’s not that surprising. Flambéed pear with vanilla ice cream is something I would definitely recommend to everyone visiting this restaurant😍🤌🤌

As others have said, it’s overpriced but it’s to die for. We tried a lot of flavor combinations and it may very well be the best gelato I’ve ever had. 8€ for a waffle cone 🙃

Quick snack, on the shore of the bay, gorgeous scenery, fast service, good snacks.
KOTA K — Google review
The ice cream was delicious but very overpriced! The lady was freindly and we ordered one small cups of limon, small cone dark choclate, and small cone choclate chip. It was 15€ total. The views were pretty though!
McKenzie — Google review
UNHAPPY? WHY? I paid €25 for 2 slices of cake and 2 cups of macchiato at Starbucks yesterday. At Calata 32 with a breathtaking view of the marina, lovely sea breeze and the lovely sun on your face, I had 2 cappuccinos, 1 chocolate croissant and a good sized focaccia with ham and cheese for €20 inclusive of the 1hr of sitting down with table service. Food was standard but the time spent there was priceless. You decide whether you wanna nitpick on price or just enjoy the view of Portofino marina. By the way, this is the only cafe just by the water. The other food establishments are full fledged restaurants.

View was breathtaking, Stayed only for coffee, so can’t really say much about food. But sure enjoyed the view ♥️

The best ice cream on the coast - a bit pricey but worth it, sitting by the harbour

The restaurant specializes in traditional Ligurian cuisine, particularly focusing on fresh, locally sourced seafood prepared in various delectable ways. With its average price range, it's an ideal choice for a romantic lunch or dinner with its spectacular harbor view and mesmerizing sea horizon.
Beautiful views and amazing staff. It feels like it is straight out of a movie. The food was excellent and we could tell it was homemade pasta. I would live to visit again and it is worth your time and money. As they say.. you pay for the sun.

Pretty good, but nothing very special. I ordered the sole and it came just with a quarter of a potatoe as a side. Wine was very reasonably priced , we had a 35 euros bottle of red and it was very good. Location is nice though.

Great experience! I got the spaghetti pomodoro and my husband got the veal, and both were great. We stopped in many places to check out lunch and this place was the most welcoming and offered the most hospitality. Their view was also exceptional. I would absolutely recommend them if you are looking for a great lunch spot in Portofino!

Delicious and fresh pasta dishes! Amazing location and lovely service. We ordered the mussels for our appetizer, and the sauce was amazing. Loved it! You must try their pesto trofie pasta which made me look at pesto with different eyes. I am giving 4 stars for the atmosphere because we were seated at a table in the hallway and did not really experience the place the same way as people who were seated on the terrace.

We were refused of 2 restaurants on the port because no reservation. We found this one a bit at the end of the port on a more quite and lovely side. Fish and pasta and cappuccino were delicious. Good service as well.

Chiesa del Divo Martino, also known as San Martino Church, is a centuries-old Romanesque Lombard-style church located in the center of Portofino. The church features a striped facade and a richly decorated interior with lavish golden textures, marbles, artwork, and glorious stained glass windows. Despite its modest exterior, the interior is impressive and imposing.
Gorgeous church that sits on top of a hill. Be careful of the traffic and cars going up. Use the stairs to avoid cars. The church is filled with ceiling art and there a a gorgeous organ in the back. This church was built in 12th century based on my research and it is meticulously maintained. There are sculptures as well as beautiful stained glass.

Nestled away from the bustling plaza but still boasting a waterfront location, Winterose Wine Bar is a haven for wine enthusiasts. This intimate establishment offers an impressive selection of wines and champagnes by the glass or bottle, accompanied by delectable aperitivo bites such as connoisseur cheeses and exquisite hams. With only a few tables, it provides a tranquil setting for pre-dinner drinks.
Great selection of wines with best views of Portofino, right along the waterfront. Not for large groups but perfect for couples or 4 people. Manuela was Italian hospitality at its finest!

An unforgettable gem in Portofino We stumbled upon this beautiful little wine bar tucked right by the sea in Portofino, and it completely stole our hearts. The setting is simply magical, with the gentle sound of the waves and a view that feels like a postcard brought to life. But what truly made the experience unforgettable was the incredibly kind and welcoming lady who was working there (possibly the owner) We enjoyed two glasses of wine, each perfectly selected, and were delighted to receive a generous platter of local delicacies -cheeses, prosciutto, salami, and the most delicious onion chutney we’ve ever tasted. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. We loved it all so much that we ended up buying a jar of the chutney and a bottle of wine to take home as souvenirs! The experience was so wonderful that we came back the very next day. Even though we arrived after 4 pm, when their special offer of wine and platter officially ends, the lovely lady insisted on serving us the full experience once again. That kind of hospitality is rare and truly appreciated.

A perfect midday break! Amazing scenery, carefully decorated place, amazing wines offered by the very experienced and welcoming owner. Everything was perfect! I definitely recommend this place if you seek really tasteful wine with a view! Well done!

A fabulous little wine bar in the harbour at Portofino. We walked in because it had a sign saying no beer, no spirits, no cocktails. Don't even ask! Great wine selection and the waiting staff were both friendly and quite humorous. Sitting out the front was a superb people watching spot. Oh, and that bottle of supertuscan was a brutal mainly cabernet sauvignon. I may have swooned. Summary: highly recommended!

I am in love this with this place and the lady working here! She is very sweet and kind, thanks a lot for her attention! If I have chance to visit Portofino again, this is the first place that I go again. The white wine was super delicious and aperativps as well. This is a suggestion for everyone to give a chance to this amazing place with fascinating view and wines!

An amazing bar! Perfect wine selection! You also can buy wine to go, which we did, and owner made sure our Prosecco was cooled and gave as small plastic glasses, as we wanted to have it on the beach!

This place was amazing! We sat here while are cruise ship was taking hours to board. The views were great and the food and wine were even better. The cheese and meat plates with olives were yummy. The wine was fine! We talked to the lady who I’m assuming owned the place and super nice and friendly. Also made conversation with the other people around to. We sat outside after it got done raining and the weather was great. Overall just a really nice place to hang out for a while!

A relaxing atmosphere on the water. The ambience is wonderful and the hostess is very soft and welcoming. They have an excellent selection of wines and the charcuterie is presented in a protected display to keep the sequels away, a very nice touch. They also have a very nice selection of wine and champagne to purchase and take away.

I Gemelli is a renowned restaurant located directly on the port of Portofino. Amazing meal. Best shrimp and focaccia I have ever had. Service was attentive and friendly. Great people watching. I would go back as there were tons of other items on the menu to have
Kareth R — Google review
We reserved a table for 10 PM the day after our arrival. My son and I were looking forward to this dinner the whole day, because the restaurant is always fully booked and works only by reservation. We expected to enjoy both the view and the food. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed. First, we waited 25 minutes just for someone to take our order, and then about the same amount of time for the food to arrive. The waiter was friendly, but when the table was being prepared one of them (I don’t know if it was the same or another) moved my personal belongings around without asking me — which I find unacceptable. Then came the food. We ordered two portions for €40 each. What we received were very small portions: I was served just five prawns for €40 (I attach photos). I don’t mind paying such money, but there should be value in it. Half of what was on the plate was inedible parts that had to be thrown away. My son was served langoustines — they were already cut, but the only edible part was the tail. The claws were left untouched because no proper tools were provided. I asked for utensils, and they brought us crab crackers, which crushed the meat into pieces. No small forks or picks were given to help extract the meat from the claws, so we simply couldn’t eat it. In the end, we left hungry and very disappointed. I understand that Portofino is an expensive place, but if you charge such high prices, the service and food should match. Instead, we paid €120 and basically got nothing. For this money we could have eaten three full dinners at another restaurant, been satisfied, and even taken food home. Sorry, guys, but this is the minimum number of stars from me. If I ever come back to Portofino, I will not return to this place. This is just a warning for those planning to visit — be prepared for what you get.

Our first meal in Portofino and Italy this time around. Great first start. Only issue was the long wait in the late evening. We found out they have a location on both sides of the harbour or port. The other location larger. We would definitely come back.

One of the best bites of my life. Please order the Seafood Antipasta, it will give you culinary joy. The family team is passionate about guests having incredible truly exceptional food and making memories. One of the best restaurants I've ever experienced.
Cari B — Google review
An amazing dining experience right on the waters of the beautiful Portofino. The service was wonderful and friendly and the food was incredible. The seafood was incredibly fresh and the pastas were divine. During our 12 day stay in Italy, this was one of our dining highlights. It was in a perfect location. As we sat outside, several local patrons would come up to talk to the staff members and sit to eat. While Portofino is swarmed with tourists during the day, by the evening, most have gone and it is a rather quiet town. So dining here at night gave us a true sense that this was not just some tourist trap. Every local that walked by greeted the servers and many came for a meal as well. This place was fantastic. If overwhelmed by the many dining options in Portofino, look no further. And make sure you make a reservation. FYI, they have a second restaurant with the same name but with Il Molo at the end. Make sure you know which one you are booking if you want a specific one.

O Magazín is a restaurant with amazing views of the bay in Camogli, Italy. The food was excellent and the service was great.
Loved the atmosphere and meal. They had a platform or small dock in front of restaurant that protected guests from either the sun or light rain in our case. Really was a worthwhile place to stop in. Prices for lunch were what you could expect for a dinner. Pictures are from the square nearby.

It looks visually ok, but personnel is rude and unwelcoming. It was this empty - see picture - but they came up with BS it’s fully booked for part of our group, so we eventually enjoyed amazing Winterose place near by. And when the rest of our group arrived of course it wasn’t booked anymore and they dined there - by mistake, it was agreed in advance and we didn’t warn them fast enough to avoid it. Food wasn’t great either, but also not a total trash as their attitude towards guests

Nice restaurant with a nice view next to sea. When we arrived during lunch time, we have been seated right away. Staff was friendly but a little chaotic. The food arrived fast as well and was delicious. The pricing for food and drinks was very expensive. Coke was 10€, beer 12€ and aperol 16€.
Peggy S — Google review
Recommend you book as soon as you arrive, go for your walk and then look forward to watching the coming and going’s of the harbour, while having a beautiful glass of wine. Some would consider the food a small portion. It was filling enough for us, we shared a starter and had a spaghetti dish each, but the flavours were exceptionally balanced. Worth the euros, for location, service and atmosphere. Enjoy the moment 😄🇮🇹 just to add it was my birthday today and it has made it very special.

Very nice view of the small port ⛵ Kinda difficult to book a table, but we went in with no reservation and got seated immediately 🪑 Prices seem high at first glance but they are actually ok compared to the other restaurants nearby. L'Isolotto is a charming and cozy restaurant located away from the expensive seafront options in Portofino. It offers delicious Italian food at very reasonable prices compared to other places in the area. The atmosphere is great, and the service is friendly and accommodating. Additionally, it's a dog-friendly establishment with a clean kitchen visible to customers.
Seafood platter was delicious. Trofie with pesto was the best we’ve had and seafood ravioli was spectacular. Staff were very busy but one can hardly complain about that. Will come back.

We had a lovely lunch outside on a sunny day. Lovely staff, we waited less than 10 minutes for our food that was simply delicious. Portions are a bit small but enough to keep you well. Not expensive but overpriced for the portions they serve. We were still happy about it

That waiter on the right just said that place is busy and fully booked until 15:30pm because he was so busy to talk to his friend but couple before us just took their place and he gave menu to them without any reservations. And there was just two tables taken by other people. If you won’t replace that waiter you will loose a lot of profit for your restaurant. He was so happy and laughed near the bar until he saw that I made video of him laughing to his friend that he is not busy to work.

Honestly, this place just isn’t worth it. The portions are more like kids size and the food has no flavor. The pasta Bolognese barely had any sauce, the roast beef came out cold and looked more like four slices of ham. If you’re actually hungry, you’re better off going somewhere else. We probably need to go to another restaurant after here…

Stopped here as were hungry and thirsty. Really quick service from the owner to be seated. Meals came out quickly and were actually pretty tasty for a tourist hotspot. Took a while for the bill to come after we asked for it twice but were in no hurry. The shock of the bill did make us double take though! 12 euro for a double espresso is a bit on the nose. 5 euro cover charge and no bread. 15% service charge is feeling a bit like the awfulness of American hidden fees and charges. A lunch consisting of a salad, a pasta, bottle of water, a beer, 2 x tiramisu and an espresso was $126 euro. Nice but be aware of the cost!!!! Oh, and 3 cruise ships spewing boat load after boat load of tourists into town blocks your view a bit.

Amazing experience. Food is so fresh. Staff is so attentive. We sat by the water and had a perfect experience. I don’t understand the reviews. If you don’t want to go to a high end restaurants that changes more than the rest of Italy, don’t come to Portofino. 100% worth your money!

⸻ “€18 for a salad. Yes, €18. The breadsticks? Probably prehistoric—try biting one and you might need a dentist. The pasta? So tiny and boring, it feels like a prank. And we found not one, but TWO hairs in our meals. Two. Congratulations, you just paid a small fortune to gamble with your teeth and stomach. Completely overrated. Never, ever again.”
George X — Google review
The food at this restaurant was very plain and not tasty at all. We were absolutely overcharged for everything. Just for seating 6 people they charged €30, plus they automatically added a $44 tip. Then they whispered to us that “nothing is included” and asked for even more for tips. Dinner for 6 people cost €350, and the food was nothing special — very basic and of poor quality. A simple bottle of sparkling water that costs €1 in the store was sold for €8. A single glass of apricot juice for a child was €8 as well. When I asked the waiter to explain these charges, he became irritated, turned his face away, and in the end took the money with shaking hands without even saying thank you. Terrible service and terrible restaurant. They take advantage of their location as one of the first places you see when stepping off the boat.
Sergei M — Google review
We visited this restaurant on October 23, 2025, as a group of four adults and three children, and we were unpleasantly disappointed by the balance between price and service. The waiters didn’t smile and served us with disdain. They looked at us aggressively because not everyone ordered main courses — three of us only had dessert and coffee, as we weren’t very hungry yet. By the end of our meal, the owner of the restaurant came to our table while we were still sitting there, took the basket of bread — which we had already paid for — and started eating from it herself. The portions were small, the food was simple, and definitely not worth the high prices. The interior is decorated with photos of the owner alongside famous actors and singers. I wonder if the celebrities were treated as poorly as we were?

Parco Regionale di Portofino is a protected coastal area in Italy with breathtaking views and hiking paths that showcase a wide variety of plants and wildlife. The park has many picnic areas with tables, though there are no designated spots for camping or bivouacking. Visitors can also enjoy cycling through the park with rental services available. What a wonderful world. Italy has many beautiful surprises and this is one. A nice and atypical park with many many great places. The path is well marked and there is a lot of picnic area with tables and views. Sadly there is two drawbacks. The first one is the map indicated on every main signals in the park, indeed the satellite view isn't accurate enough. Secondly there is no place to bivouac. I know there is a shelter but a national park which is close to nature must have a dedicated place to campers. Globally if you have a detour to do to see this park, do it.

As we walked into Portofino, we came across the most delightful little gallery filled with paintings that beautifully capture the spirit of the town. The artist, Mara, was incredibly kind, one of the sweetest and most humble artists I’ve ever met. Her work is exquisite, perfectly reflecting the unique charm of Portofino. Beyond her original paintings, her art is also available on magnets, t-shirts, scarves, and more. Meeting her was a real pleasure, and it was an honor to bring pieces of her art home. Highly recommended for any art lover visiting Portofino!

There were so many people that the police were turning traffic around 2-3 km from Portofino. We parked the car and walked with our wheelchair. It's a beautiful walk with a wooden boardwalk for much of the distance. We had a fine dinner before walking back. The walk up from the harbor to the road about killed me (the pusher).

If you're in Portofino and craving some delicious cheese focaccia, head over to Ristorante Pizzeria da Nicola. This charming eatery is known for its mouthwatering cheese focaccia and the owner's warm and friendly service. Located at Piazza Martiri dell'Olivetta, 2, 16034 Portofino GE, Italy, it's a must-visit spot for a delightful culinary experience in the heart of Portofino.
The tomato and basil gnocchi with drops of burrata were superb, paired with a glass of chardonnay. Service was quick and attentive, and of course, you get a view of the port if you sit outside near the entrance. Portions are expensive and on the smaller side for Italy, but this is Portofino after all. Lovely experience overall!
Stargirl — Google review
Tried this place when we visited Portofino. We ordered pizza, seafood soup, and spaghetti with meat sauce. How can you go wrong with these choices in Italy? It was bad! The seafood soup was very small in quantity (and it costed €28). The spaghetti sauce was too salty and tasted bad. They served us bread sticks in a paper bag while other guests were served in nice baskets (but the bread tasted stale no matter how they served it). They wouldn’t give us a table inside while other guests were seated inside (obvious discrimination here!). Not at all a good experience. I would avoid this place if you read this review.
Raymond K — Google review
We had a dinner on Thursday night and the food was ok. We liked the tiramisu so we tried to go back on Friday night to have drinks and dessert. The manager told us that they are not allowing people to have only dessert and told us rudely to get out even if the restaurant was half empty… They also insulted us in Italian so definitely won’t recommend that place. They are other great options as La Taverna or el DaV (during weekend better to make reservation)
Franck N — Google review
We went there yesterday and... we'll, considering the location it left a lot to be desired! 3,5€ for the bottle of tap water. 3,5€ each for the table service. All in all we paid over 40€ for the two of us. I ordered their specialty "pasta a la Nicola" and it wasn't very good at all. No taste, with a cream which stuck to the uncooked pasta as poorly made glue. And I'm not a picky eater. I would recommend anyone looking for a restaurant in Portofino to go a little further away from the harbor square.

This ARROGANT OLD MAN shoo us away because we have a baby stroller with us. The stroller could be left outside the restaurant but the crew shoo us. OMG how RUDE!!!! Telling me, ‘we don’t need you here! Go away!’ Such a crazy people!

To those of you about to walk in for a meal, do yourself an absolute favour and don’t. They serve pizzas the size of kids meals, at the price of Michelin star restaurants, and their attitude while doing so is absolutely ridiculous.
Adnan Q — Google review
Great for vegetarian options. Unlike other regional restaurants, this restaurant had Pomodoro sauce and was also very flexible in catering to our vegetarian diet restrictions. The pastas were saucy and the pizza was also delicious. Might not be the most authentic (can’t say) but appetising to an Indian palate.

La Gritta

Bar
La Gritta is an Italian restaurant and American bar located in Portofino, offering a menu mainly focused on fish-based dishes accompanied by champagne cocktails and fresh fruit. The venue features a floating terrace with stunning views of the harbor, which can be reserved for special events. The wooden pontoon deck is a popular spot, albeit slightly pricey, but offers an iconic harbor-side experience. Visitors can also dine on the floating dock right by the water.
During our visit to Portofino from the US, my family and I decided to have lunch at La Gritta after a day of exploring. Upon our arrival, we were warmly welcomed by what appeared to be the owner or manager, who kindly offered us a seat. He promptly took our drink orders and returned to take our lunch selections. Although we felt a little rushed at times, the overall experience was pleasant. Unsure of what to order, I turned to my brother-in-law, who is Italian, for guidance. After a brief conversation with my sister-in-law, she suggested I try the fish, which I happily ordered. My husband and son opted for pasta dishes, as did my brother-in-law. We all found the food to be quite enjoyable. The weather was lovely, making our outdoor seating even more delightful. After our meal, we indulged in coffee. We used the restroom during our visit, and I was pleased to find it clean and well-maintained. I’m not certain about the total bill, as my brother-in-law took care of it, but overall, we had a great meal and solid service.
Kiara R — Google review
A must in Portofino! how is this place not rated higher?! We come to Portofino once a year from New York, and La Gritta is always on our list. We’re not full-time locals, but we feel like it when we’re here—and this place feels like part of our summer tradition. The food is insanely good like, truly unforgettable. The pasta is the kind you daydream about long after the trip is over. The vibe is fun, relaxed, and full of life. And the service? So warm and genuine. It’s the kind of spot where you instantly feel taken care of. I only found out about the low reviews because I was telling a friend to go and I actually had to double check the page because I was like, wait… what?! A 2.5 star rating makes no sense. It’s like we ate at a completely different restaurant than those reviewers. If you’re in Portofino and want delicious food, a great atmosphere, and a place that just gets it right go to La Gritta. Trust me. You’ll be so happy you did.
Glenda C — Google review
Stunning location, but the pricing is completely outrageous. We were charged €17 for a single 0.25 L lemonade, without any warning. The price was not listed in the menu, and the waiter did not inform us. Totally unacceptable, even for Portofino. A bottle of still water was €12, and the service charge was €6 per person. In total, a simple dinner for 4 without wine cost €250 — and the portions weren’t even generous. The view is nice, but it doesn’t justify exploiting tourists.
Konstantin M — Google review
The best place in Portofino! Thank You for making our day so special! It was my wife’s birthday, we flew from London and it was worthy! Grazie La Gritta!
Luli N — Google review
Tourist trap — avoid this place! The waiter offered a pizza that wasn’t on the menu, saying it was the “dish of the day.” Sounded like a good option, but he never mentioned the price. We assumed it would be in the normal range — maybe €20 or €30 since it’s Portofino. But when the bill came, the pizza was €40 and a bottle of water was €12! Absolutely outrageous. There are plenty of much better restaurants just a short walk away with fair prices and better food. Don’t fall for this scam.
John A — Google review
Very Nice place, the food is great too. The prices are acceptable if you consider the place.
Nasser Y — Google review
Disappointing and Overpriced – Not Worth a Visit We ordered the bolognese and the pesto pasta — both were a letdown. The pasta was as overcooked as the prices were inflated. Honestly, we could’ve made something better at home. To top it off, we were charged €12 for a bottle of water we never asked for and were not informed had a cost. It was simply placed on the table without a word, as if it were complimentary. And the toilet? Absolutely disgusting. It looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in hours — unhygienic and unpleasant. Overall, an overpriced and disappointing experience from start to finish. Would not recommend.

We had a wonderful seafood dinner here. The arrabbiata and Alfredo pastas were delicious, the pizza and tagliata were full of flavor, and the fish was fresh and perfectly cooked. The service was excellent, especially the older gentleman who was incredibly kind and attentive. Highly recommended.

Italian restaurant
Pizzeria El Portico is a charming family-run restaurant located on a cobble-stoned street near the port in Portofino. The rustic Mediterranean ambiance, with wooden chairs and red and white checked tablecloths, adds to its quaintness. The menu features traditional recipes passed down through generations, with fried pizza as the specialty dish. Other offerings include octopus salad, fish plates, pasta, and delightful local pesto.
We came here after a disappointing dinner nearby and left very happy! 🍝 A very authentic Italian restaurant with all of the best dishes at very affordable prices considering it’s right on the front streets of Portofino. The pesto pasta was amazing! A great atmosphere also with many Italian families eating there (that’s when you know the food is good!)

We were so happy to have found this place. After 2 days of lacking authentic italian food, this place delivered. The spaghetti with calms and pesto gnocchi were both outstanding. Right in the marina, Italian severs, and great vibe. This was 4.5-5.0 star value

Terrible service. We received a cold welcome — no greeting, no smile. We arrived earlier than they expected, but Google showed the correct time. They asked us to leave and come back in 30 minutes, which we did. When we returned, they told us with a big smile that all the tables were already taken!

One of the best meals I had while travelling in the Italian Riviera. It was well priced, and delicious. It is a family owned restaurant that we were lucky to find. Portofino is known also for having ridiculously expensive dining options, specially in the main piazza, but this was a gem steps away.

We love this type of pizza! The sauce has that amazing Italian flavor, the cheese is extra flavorful, the crust is crispy on the top & yet not too thin (or thick) with flavor. The pesto lasagna was also bursting with flavor & had the right balance of creaminess with pesto. (Its thin & a lighter portion which I wanted) the table bread was dry & not good, but you don’t need it with everything else!
Brooke M — Google review
I had a really disappointing experience at this pizzeria with a friend of mine. We went in genuinely excited to try the place, but were treated with complete disrespect. The owner was incredibly rude and actually sent us away just because we didn’t want to order more than one item and preferred to share something. It’s completely unacceptable to turn customers away just because they don’t want to over-order. We were polite, willing to pay, and just wanted to enjoy a simple meal not be pressured or shamed for how much we were (or weren’t) eating. We left feeling embarrassed and uncomfortable. No one deserves to be treated like that. Definitely wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone who values being treated with basic respect.

Ristorante Lo Stella is a historic establishment in Portofino, dating back to 1850 and currently run by the eighth generation of the founding family. The restaurant offers Ligurian seafood, pasta, and desserts with a special recommendation for their tortelli di Preboggion. Situated at the seafront, it provides a picturesque view of the harbor and yachts from its covered terrace. Additionally, they feature daily specials and host various events including karaoke nights.
Very romantic place. Me and my husband came here for a gateway holiday and we wanted to treat ourselves with a fancier dinner than usual. It was truly delicious especially the fish ravioli 😍 I ordered mixed seafood spaghetti and it was very nice, but I would recommend the chefs to add a bit of extra sauce as it was a bit dry, but it was really nice anyways. The ravioli was ordered by my husband and when I tried a bite, my mouth completely melted, it was so good and creamy and just had perfect balance of taste. I ordered the lemon cake and i really loved it as well! Staff is fast, kind and friendly. I recommend this place!

Located at the edge of the port of portofino makes it location very unique, facing the port and the castle on the mountain and maintain it is quietness and calmness. Food was very good and really prepared with attention to the details. Staff are very professional and really nice. They speaks Arabic if it is your concerns. Best time we visited was 8:30 pm and witnessed the sunset. Try their Lobster salad and fresh ravioli. Recommended for all time and it is family friendly and accessible to the water (only 2 meter)

After three weeks of dining across Italy—and a full week spent sampling every restaurant in Portofino—Lo Stella truly shines. Their fish ravioli is hands-down the best pasta dish I’ve had on my entire trip. The delicate, handmade pasta and beautifully balanced seafood filling were elevated by a sauce that harmonized every element. Every bite was unforgettable. Italian Rivera > Portofino, Italy. Given that I consider Portofino my home away from home, the family consented to dine in this exceptional ancient fishing village. We chose “Ristorante Stella,” an established Ligurian restaurant specializing in seafood, pasta, and desserts, which features a harbor-view terrace perfect for sunset. The family selected the following menu items: Seasonal Mixed Salad, Italian bread with butter, Spaghetti with clams, Homemade pasta with Bolognese, and Grilled Scampi. The selection of drinks consisted of bottled water, a Godfather cocktail (with bourbon & vodka), Le Volte dell’Ornellaia Toscana red wine, and champagne. Both the menu and the service exceeded expectations.
