The township of Lari is already quite lovely, but being in the castle hill provides you with an amazing in all directions. If the weather is good, it's a must see! The Museum itself is more in the weaker end, informative texts and videos are available in either English or Italian, but the amount of exhibits is very limited. As of September 2024 the entry fee for the museum is 4 €, just going on to the castle hill and enjoying the view ist free.

This castle has great historical significance and was not at all crowded on a beautiful Sunday afternoon in June. There are several restaurants and a Gelato shop. The castle tour is only 4 euros and worth the price with interactive displays. The views of Tuscan countryside are amazing from the castle walls.

Amazing town castle with a fabulous pasta making experience. This is by far one of the best tourist experiences I’ve had the pleasure of attending with my young family. The drive to the village is challenging with bends, chicanes and steep narrow passes. Beware as you drive the natural beauty of the landscape, seriously idillic property and vantage points are distracting! It’s best to wait for this castle on the top of the hill. Take a deep breath! It gives you an outrageous panoramic view of Tuscan green and terracotta roofs. The village below is exceptionally well kept with quality deli’s and bars. Perfect and relaxed. We went during the Renaissance fair. Lots of booths, demonstrations, Canon firing, hawk & owl flying. Tour of the castle & grounds. Really worth it!!

So nice and cozy castle. Love to have a walk around. A peace of tranquility and silence. They always do cherry blossom and cherry degustation festivals. We love to come here.

Tempted by the many positive reviews, we decided to have lunch at Il Pogio. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a big mistake. We ordered steaks, but no one asked us how we wanted them cooked. As a result, we were served almost raw meat – completely inedible. The “antipasto Toscana” was a total disaster as well: just a few very fatty slices of salami and lard, plus four tiny pieces of something that could hardly be called bruschetta. The tables are placed outside next to a hedge, but there was no protection against mosquitoes or wasps, which were everywhere. To make matters worse, the waiter who served us was very unfriendly – not even a single smile. I absolutely do not recommend this place. We paid €96, and it was money very badly spent

Amazing pizza and lovely customer service! The only place available on Easter Monday. Homely atmosphere with friendly staff. Went back there to discover that they would care for the gests no matter the time. You can even enjoy a great view of Tuscany hills from their windows and savory delicious wine.

A short family trip to Lari and what a delightful authentic meal. We turned up without a reservation and the host was very accommodating. Food and wine could not have been better and a lovely way to spend a few hours relaxing whilst over looking the valley towards the town

Lovely hidden gem in the Tuscan countryside but well worth the side trip to have dinner in this lovely country setting. The food was amazing and catered to our meatless tastes, probably one of the best meals we enjoyed in Italy. The service was friendly, helpful and very social! The owner shared a variety of amazing wines from his cellar and even sold us a few favorites for our trip home. Highly recommend taking a trip to IL Frutteto!

We had a great night at Il Frutteto. Fabio and his crew took great care of us. The restaurant is a quiet place, has a great ambiance, and overlooks the green hills around Lari. In the garden are herbs, olve trees and fruit trees. The menu has something for everyone, everything is fresh and homemade. Great wines too, try the typical wines from the region. For sure a place to go back to! Highly recommended.

Absolutely lovely experience. 110% recommend. Came all the way from Florida and enjoyed every bite of dinner. Hosts were very attentive and accommodating. Sommelier suggested a great wine pairing with dinner. We did the 8 course tasting menu - it’s a lot of food so make sure to prepare by not eating before. There were English speakers who could explain the meals and ingredients which was appreciated. Worth the drive if you’re in the area - we’re sad we couldn’t see the place during the daytime, it looked beautiful. The nights in Tuscany are very dark. 10/10 would recommend!

Recommended to us by the staff at the bar/grocery store in Lari, itself well worth a visit, we were delighted with the friendly service, tasteful terrace and simple, original menu. Baked shrimp with pesto and picanha with a salad and potatoes beautifully presented. Light and very good. A great bottle of Bonico from an interesting wine list set it all iff perfectly. We paid 80€ for two which sounds expensive but it was light years better in all respects than many of the rather basic local offerings.
