The Dyfi Osprey Project offers a sustainable wildlife watching experience at the Dyfi Wildlife Centre. Visitors can enjoy tasty bites at Caffi Ty Maenan and observe beautiful birds through the wildlife watching window. The Osprey Room provides live feeds from the osprey nest and footage from beaver cameras.
I spent the afternoon here to see the osprey nesting. It was £7 to enter, which I'm lead to believe is the elevated price once the osprey arrive . Normally, it's just £3:50. The nature reserve seems well kept with nice walkways and seating at various places along the walk to the hides . The staff I dealt with were really nice and friendly. They seemed very knowledgeable about the osprey and answered all my questions. One thing I did like was that there was a lift at the main hide so my disabled wife could join me on the top floor to see the nesting osprey. They also had live footage of the nest in the reception area and the main hide . I finished off my visit in the cafe , which had a good selection of drinks , snacks and cakes, all at reasonable prices

Really nice modern place with great staff giving lots of information about ospreys. Lovely boardwalk which goes to the observation tower (not far to walk) The osprey nest is quite far away but they have lots of telescopes set to the correct angle to see the nest as well as many massive TV screens showing live feeds of the nest. There's also a cinema room which was playing lots of short videos. Some about ospreys showing how they tag the birds, as well as videos of other animals (badgers!) Very clean toilets and a nice cafe serving hot drinks and cakes. We had a piece of lime & blueberry cake as well as the maple & apple cake. Both tasted really fresh with a lovely spongy soft texture and great flavours for a good price. Cost £7 per adult to enter but if you like ospreys then it's worth visiting.
Sam S — Google review
This awesome place is somewhere I have visited a number of times and never get tired of it. The ride there is brilliant, the building is outstanding with plenty to keep you occupied like watching the live camera streams , the cafe is great, and the thought and effort that's been put into the design of the structure is superb. ( have a look for the river of coins ) . Then there's the 360 observatory where you look out over to the osprey nest watching the adult ospreys bringing food in for the chicks.
Kevin B — Google review
An excellent modern 2 storey visitor centre, run by Montgomeryshire Wildlife Trust, with a small cafe & shop, various displays about the area and the site, and TV displays showing the nesting ospreys (spring/summer). Outside there is boardwalk path that leads through the boggy area to a 3 storey 360° viewing tower. This has, on two outdoor platforms, excellent panoramic views of the estuary, river valley, and lovely surrounding hills. On the upper platform, the enclosed room has windows that overlook the Osprey’s nesting pole and perch, with various telescopes and television screens to closely view the distant Ospreys, as well as helpful staff/volunteers. The site also plays host to beavers. The site has car parking & EV charging. The visitor centre, viewing tower, and boardwalks are designed for and fully accessible by wheelchair users. I was very impressed with the location and, although photographers may find it rather distant viewing of the ospreys, the facilities mean that everyone can get to closely watch the ospreys on the numerous television screens. If you are interested in birds, this site is excellent to combine with a visit to the nearby RSPB Ynys-hir nature reserve and the layby that overlooks the Afon Dyfi (river Dovey) just beneath Glandyfi Castle
Chris A — Google review
Beautiful site! With a boardwalk to hides and the observation deck. Staff were friendly and keen to share their knowledge on the Osprey that were visible from the tower. Live streams played and permanent telescopes set up aiming at the birds for easy viewing! The cafe was really lovely too and food was delicious. I’m dairy free and they were very happy to adjust for me. There’s a kids play area under the observation deck with hoopla, tick tack toe and nest building
NJ W — Google review
We loved the Dyfi Project, but maybe that's because we love Ospreys, lizards and delicious cakes. Good facilities. Lots of electric car charging points. Fun walkways and hides, and telescopes and binoculars available to see the main attraction. We were delighted to see Idris fly in with a great big mullet. Great centre, great staff, great trip. ❤️👍
Chris O — Google review
Incredible wildlife Sanctuary. Ospreys are usually there for viewing. Binoculars and HD cameras ensure you won't be disappointed. They have beavers here in an enclosure too. Speak to the staff - so knowledgeable and fascinating to find out what is going on behind the scenes.
David W — Google review
Called in to break up a journey further south. The weather was foul but the welcome was warm! Inside the entrance building there's plenty of live screens showing various camera angles of the Osprey nest. The cafe and gallery are very good and the toilets are clean. There's a small shop on site but is well stocked with gifts. A ten minute walk on the broadwalk (minding the little toads) takes you to the observatory. Still some distance from the nest to avoid disturbing the birds but plenty of helpful volunteers and staff with telescopes and binoculars to watch the nest as well as more cameras. Games at the bottom of the observatory to entertain the little ones. Wheelchair friendly in both buildings including a lift to the observatory. We would like to plan a return visit soon.

Nature & Wildlife Areas
RSPB Ynys-hir, located near Machynlleth in Wales, is a beloved nature reserve featured on BBC's Springwatch. The reserve boasts diverse habitats including woodland, wet grassland, and saltmarshes. Visitors can spot ducks and geese in winter and wading birds like lapwings and redshanks in summer. With seven hides to observe wildlife, the reserve offers an immersive experience.
If you’re into outdoor walks and birding - this is a wonderful slice of wildlife and tranquility (when the RAF aren’t on jet training runs). A fascinating landscape off the beaten path. No dogs allowed. Wonderfully friendly RSPB staff too.
David P — Google review
A relatively old nature reserve, this site has a small car park and limited facilities in terms of visitor centre, food/drink & shop. However, it is has helpful staff to help give advice about the site and the various pathways. The site is not easily accessible, with very limited facilities - the pathways and hides are older and not designed for wheelchair access etc, some paths are narrow and have short relatively steep sections, and the accessible toilet facilities are very basic. However, the site has a lovely range of bogs, marshlands, small lakes, and wonderful old oak woodlands. When I visited in the spring, the bluebells were out enmasse and the woods full of birds singing. The hides gave good viewing over the lake, river valley and surrounding hills. The site is a lovely more natural contrast to the nearby more modern facilities of the Montgomeryshire Wildlife Trust Dyfi Osprey Project, and in between there is a layby overlooking the river Dovey and marshland.
Chris A — Google review
The trails and parking area are open even when the visitor center isn't. We arrived early to do some walking and bird watching before the day got too warm. We enjoyed seeing all the birds at their feeder. We didn't see that many from the hides but we were grateful for the input of other birders on what we did see. Nice hiking/walking. The visitor center had ice cream, cakes and cold drinks. Definitely recommend for bird enthusiasts.
Jean L — Google review
We visited in the pouring rain on a Saturday in early September and it was very quiet, which was great. We almost had the place to ourselves! Parking is plentiful & free, but there are very narrow lanes in places to get there. The visitor centre is up a slope and the paths are not particularly suitable for wheelchairs or buggies. It is possible though, to see & hear quite a lot of birdlife just from the carpark! The visitor centre has facilities for food (cake & icecream for example) & drink (takeaway coffee for example), plus tables to sit at. There is a small gift shop and at the time of our visit, there was a very informative guide who told us the best route to take across the reserve & hide to visit for the bad weather. There is a bird feeder just outside the visitor centre entrance where we saw nuthatch, coal tits & several other small birds. Further into the reserve you can view out over the Dyfi estuary. We saw widgeon & other duck species feeding.
Ruth C — Google review
Brilliant nature reserve with some maxing Hide’s to quietly sit and absorb the fantastic views around the various walks! We drove an hour to get here and it was totally worth it. Entrance is £6 each, and again totally worth it. The grounds are so well kept and there are plenty of walks and signage around explaining about the various birds that have been sighted in the area. The walks themselves are really not difficult, but not completely flat. They would not easily be passable in a wheelchair (red/green routes walked today) The board walk thought he marsh is great. One of the Hides currently has a Swallows nest inside and so you can see the young in the nest (from a distance as they have boarded off the end for them!) and the parents flying happily in and out, which is a real treat!
James W — Google review
Ynys-hir was recommended by the Dyfi Osprey Project. Unfortunately the RSPB centre is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays but we were still able to park and go on one of the well marked walks along the Dyfi estuary. Parking and toilets available.
Chris H — Google review
RSPB Ynys-hir is a wonderful nature reserve with plenty of walks and things to see. Entry price was reasonable, and it's very well looked after. There is plenty of wildlife to enjoy, which can be seen from the bird-hides and also the raised boardwalk. The welcome area had a coffee machine with cakes and treats if you're looking for refreshments, as well as toilets, but it's the only facilities on-site. We spent around 3 hours here in total - it's a great place to enjoy some peace and nature.
Joel P — Google review
Beautiful nature reserve. The staff were very helpful in picking the best route for us to use, given that the wheelchair has off-road tyres it made this more traversal, but it's nature, not pathways and a bit hilly in places! So if you're going to do the red route, then muscles will be needed! The drive going in looks one way but is indeed a two-way system, and passing points are spaced out, so confidence in driving is needed as well.

The Dyfi Furnace, an ancient site dating back to the 18th century, was originally employed for iron ore smelting. Later on, it was transformed into a water-powered Sawmill that utilized the River Einion's resources. While currently closed to the public, it is now a sanctuary for Lesser Horse Shoe Bats, making it a unique destination worth exploring. Adjacent parking offers picturesque surroundings where visitors can partake in streamside picnics and observe the nearby waterfall.
This is a lovely stop and something different to see. There is a large free car park across the road. There's no walk to get here; it's right on the road. The building has informative signs around it telling of its history and there's a nice waterfall just behind.

Dyfi Furnace is a hidden gem worth stopping by, especially if you’re on your way to Aberystwyth. This historic old furnace is tucked away in a peaceful woodland setting, surrounded by a small waterfall and lush greenery — perfect for a short walk and a moment of quiet in nature. The place is well-preserved and has informative signs explaining its fascinating history as an 18th-century ironworks. There’s a free car park right next to it and no entry fee, so it’s an easy and pleasant stop for families or anyone wanting a quick break from driving. Highly recommended to visit if you’re exploring the area or passing through — a lovely spot to stretch your legs and enjoy a bit of local history!

Nestled within a charming green space, Y Plas stands as a stunning Grade II listed Georgian mansion that once belonged to the Marquess of Londonderry. Today, this historic gem serves as council offices and features a delightful café and restaurant. Visitors rave about the delicious food offered at reasonable prices, complemented by the warm hospitality of the staff. Whether you're looking for a quick bite or a leisurely meal, Y Plas is an inviting spot that beautifully blends history with modern dining experiences.
Went to the cafe on Wednesday for coffee and cake. The staff were lovely, couldn't be more helpful and kind. A nice brew and the cakes were great! I had the Rocky Road - recommended. A lovely chilled out spot, good value too. Thank you

Dreadful! Really nice setting and sunny day so we thought we would eat at the cafe. It wasn’t busy but my first two choices were sold out and the third choice took ages, was rubbish and served by someone who really didn’t want to be there. Machynlleth deserves better than this. This place is the town council and the cafe is run by them or perhaps under lease to an operator. It could be so much better, a real asset and make money for the council. Until then, avoid.

We asked if we could eat inside with my family and we were told yes. As we sat, a rude lady told us to get out that we have to order takeaway outside. We then queued outside to order takeaway food and when we got to the front the same rude lady told us they just stopped serving food (the gentleman infront ordered food). I understand that prehaps the kitchen said no more food but the way the lady spoke to us was quite disgusting!

Bro Ddyfi Leisure Centre is located in a small market town known for its environmentally friendly living and historical significance. The town is home to the pioneering Centre for Alternative Technology, which showcases renewable energy, green buildings, and sustainable devices. This eco-village aims for net-zero gas emissions by the mid-21st century and offers a unique experience with Europe's steepest water-balanced funicular railway.
I've been visiting the area for years but have never used the leisure centre until this week as I'm doing some swim training. I didn't have high hopes as the pool is smaller to the one back home and the reviews made me think it may not be very welcoming or a good experience. I called ahead just to find out more info - price etc. and the lady was really helpful. When I turned up the reception team were really welcoming, telling me where to go and how long the public swim session was for that day. The changing rooms are really spacious, loads of lockers and decent showers. The pool itself was better than I had expected and I enjoyed my swim. I returned a few days later for another session and a different lady was on reception and she kindly sorted a float out for me for the pool. They also have a box of goggles to use if you forget yours. There's clearly a great sense of community here too as quite a few other swimmers chatted to me. Definitely recommend!

A little frustrating to turn up with excited kids and to be told that the flume is only switched on a couple of hours at the weekend. And is not on during the week. Why? Would suggest ringing in advance to ensure the flume will be in operation. But would also suggest considering having the flume in action more often. Surely it is not that expensive to run? Thank you
JC S — Google review
We took our one year old swimming for the first time and the staff were fantastic at making sure we were given space and even got some toys out for him. They really went above and beyond. The family changing rooms were clean and spacious, and the price was reasonable too!

We had another fantastic experience in Wales! On our third day, it was raining so we wanted to enjoy some indoor swimming. However, our resort didn't offer exclusive sessions, and we didn't want to compromise our faith values by going in a mixed pool. After searching for a private pool without luck, I reached out to the nearest Bro Ddyfi Leisure Centre and spoke with Faye. She listened to our situation, consulted with her manager, and amazingly offered us a private session for an hour with exclusive use of the entire pool, including the water slide! If you're visiting Mid Wales and need a private swimming session, I highly recommend contacting the leisure centre – Faye and the team are very accommodating. Mahbub Alam

A lovely facility. The pool was 25m long but not too wide. There were built-in steps into the pool. The water was warm. The flume was fast and exciting. Not too many people. Good changing facilities. Wonderful hot showers.

I collect rare Leather bound fishing books, and always Paul's shop is my first place to go. 99% of the time he has the book I'm looking for. Superb shop, superb on line store. Nice shop to visit, visited a few years ago when fishing in area. Thanks.

I'd recommend avoiding this book store - absolutely awful lack of customer service. The new book I ordered arrived with torn dust wrapper...so rang straight away and requested a replacement wrapper....lady member of staff was very rude, implied I was lying and must have torn it myself and without discussion put phone down on us. We had been polite and reasonable....she was like a yobet! However their lose as I had earmarked a number of books to purchase...so my £500-£600 book spend is going to be spent with the lovely and helpful book people in Lewis.

Needed a specific geology book for my studies and this was the only place selling it for a more than reasonable price. No problems with purchasing the book online, and it got delivered all the way from Wales to New Zealand without issue. One month later and I'm happily typing this review with book in hand (mint condition too!). Thank you very much for the fantastic service!

Y Llew Coch - Mach (The Red Lion Machynlleth Town) is a charming dog-friendly pub located in the heart of Machynlleth. The menu offers a variety of options including large breakfast baps, full Welsh breakfast, vegan selections, and coffee. Visitors can enjoy traditional pub grub and a pint in the cozy interiors or outdoor seating area.
We dined at the red lion twice last year when on holiday and we were not disappointed - the food was amazing. The owner is very friendly and engaging. My hubby and I were in the area again on Saturday 21st September, 2024, and decided to have dinner there again. The owner even remembered us from our last trip. We had a starter, main, dessert and drinks as we were celebrating a special occasion. The bill was very reasonable at £80. Please support this establishment when in the area. It is worth it, the food is Mitchelin star quality set in a friendly pub environment. It is kid friendly- offering some board games for entertainment and dog friendly as well. The outside area has been revamped from last year and is now very inviting on a nice summer day.

Great find! We were passing through and headed here because of Google reviews, veggie AND dog friendly .....parked in main car park, plugged in our PHEV and pretty much crossed over the road. Really lovely café, waitresses friendly- seated us, cleared table and directed us to the counter for the daily changing menu,(always a good sign for changing fresh produce!), and easy enough to take a photo of and return to table for everyone to choose....and then great coffee and delicious food! We all really enjoyed our lunch and then a wonder around Machynclth.

Absolutely stunning place where fine dining, scenography and ambiance merge into one. I love it! The concept is modern, it's bold and it rocks. This is the place where you celebrate life, friendship, love and get blown away by excellent food, wine and lovely people. Will be back!

Goodness me!! These guys use super ingredients and do not skimp on things that matter. The cooking was top-notch and a fun and exciting combination of Asian flavours. Our servers were wonderful - The female chef from London, who recently joined the team was a particular standout - thanks for a fun chat and hope you find that cookbook!! The winelist is extensive and great to see most of it being available by the glass. Finally, to whoever cooked the eggs for breakfast muffin- I have not had one done perfectly in a while- thank you!! In all, I'd return in a heartbeat and thinking about the quality and quantity of the ingredients, pretty good value too.

This was an amazing food experience & surpassed our expectations! From the time we arrived to when we left the service was superb! Fabulous food & a wonderful Front Row table! The attention to detail was incredible throughout! The DJ & his music just set the tone! Gareth & his fabulous team made our unique dining experience & stay extremely enjoyable & we will be back! We would just like to say a special thanks to Ava, Rory & Andy!

As a Wheelchair user I couldn't be more grateful for the effort they made to keep me included in the entirety of the experience of dining 2 star Michelin food. From the rolling out of the ramps where needed to taking a personalised video of showing their process of preparation in the areas I couldn't access. It goes without saying by far the best food I have ever tasted and would highly recommend anyone that enjoys food able bodied or not to come and enjoy the talents of Gareth and his lovely team. Thank you for hosting me and my brother for our final meal out together before his departure to foreign lands.

A myriad of flavour-fusions and textures exceptionally curated by Gareth & team! From the unique craftsmanship of the tableware to the sheer theatre of the dining experience with an awesome vinyl soundtrack mixed live adding to the buzz. Every course executed with finesse complimented by a fantastic wine list - most of which is available by the glass. Wonderfully designed and spacious rooms with every amenity and a banging breakfast muffin to see you off the next day. An amazing experience from start to finish and a real treat for the senses - we will be back!

The best restaurant that we have ever been to!! It is actually quite hard to explain how incredible this place is in words. The staff are friendly and fun, the food is exceptional as only the best ingredients have been used and Gareth is extremely easy going and makes you feel so welcome. Talk about Geordie hospitality!! We booked the chefs table and stayed in one of their garden rooms, if you get the opportunity to go, go the full hog as although it’s not cheap it is one of the best experiences you will ever have. If you enjoy music and want a cracking atmosphere then you won’t be disappointed as Jacob Kelly is on vinyl throughout the night which only builds as the night goes on. Thank you all so much for making our night and stay a memory that will stay with us forever.

Day 2

Northwest side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the northwest side side of town. Start the day off with Hennighan's Fish & Chip Top Shop, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Clock Tower Apartments. All together, your day would be filled with about 8 hours of non-stop fun.

Fish & chips restaurant
Hennighan's Fish & Chip Top Shop is a family-run establishment located at the end of the High Street. It has won multiple awards and is known for its high-quality fish and chips. Despite some mixed reviews about service, many visitors praise the sizable portions and reasonable prices. The menu offers a variety of options, and customers can choose to dine in or take away. Overall, it's considered a great stop for delicious food in a comfortable setting with clean facilities.
Traveled an hour, had a walk around Machynlleth and went in for fish and chips for 5 of us. The haddock was massive, the light meal cod and chips was bigger than expected and the plaice was excellent. Overall excellent fish and lovely chips
Janet W — Google review
Probably the best dish and chips, I have eaten for a very long time. The fish batter was light and crispy, the cod white and plump and the chips were nice and tasty. We had the meal as a take away, it was still nice & hot when we got back to the caravan. Would definitely recommend and will go there again.
Deborah N — Google review
I'm staying locally and saw the queue in Hennigan's as a good sign it was popular with locals. I wasn't disappointed. I had cod and chips, and it was all excellent - crisp batter, chips with a slight bite to them but soft inside, and none of it was at all greasy. Plus they didn't drench it in salt like some fish n chip places do! Friendly service that was quick without being suspiciously so! It was a very reasonable price, too. One happy customer. Although I only come to Machynlleth every two or three years, next time I'm here I'll definitely have a Hennigan's dinner. I recommend you do too.

We've used this fish and chip shop many many times when passing through the town and the food has varied between good and average. Yesterday we called in and the chips were tough and lacked taste. We didn't have the chance to tell them as we left town to eat the food.

Drove 12 miles to my fav takeaway in the area. Spent £8 on pie chips & curry sauce. Paid on card. I then asked for a plastic fork, they wouldn’t take payment on card for this and staff were rude and abusive saying they have to pay for this 5p fork and what are people like these days! I was made to feel like I was asking for something for nothing! Very rude staff and very embarrassing in front of other customers! It was a hot day and the boy who served me needs to learn some manners. In reality they have lost a customer over a piece of plastic that probably costs less than a penny. Shameful, rude and poor!

Dyfi Valley Health is located in the picturesque Dyfi Valley, known for its lush greenery and rolling hills. The town of Machynlleth serves as the focal point of this area, with a rich historical background dating back to the fifteenth century. The region also boasts the intriguing Centre for Alternative Technology nestled in the northern hills. Visitors have praised Dyfi Valley Health for its exceptional care and understanding staff, making it a reliable option for health services in this serene setting.
Great to have such a good health center in Machynlleth, staff are always helpful, friendly, and supportive. Non emergencies can take a while but this is expected at the moment until the aftermath of Covid is square away. Also, I have to say the new facilities are fantastic compared to the old building across the road. All in all, we are very lucky and grateful to the NHS.
D G — Google review
Moved to Dyfi valley health since January 2025 and I have to say I’ve had nothing but the best treatment from both doctors, nurses and receptionist's. First, receptionist's are always polite and greet you with a smile always ready to help. Nurses have always been friendly, polite and respectful and caring. Doctors, I’ve only met doctor Patrick but he was very kind, he listened to me and really helped me to try and get to a problem I’ve had for years when I’ve seen loads of other doctors from a previous health centre. Just like to say a big thank you just to have someone listen to me. I’m extremely happy with this health centre.

The GP surgery with no GPs. We joined this place with high hopes. New building, all looking impressive. The pharmacy takes a week to issue your repeat medication (although in exceptional circumstances they can do it much quicker). The waiting time for a non urgent appointment is shocking. I'm currently on a 17 day wait for a phone appointment with a 'clinician'. My wife was told by the 111 service that she needed to see a doctor that day. The surgery said she could but she saw a man in scrubs who turned out to be an 'Advanced Practitioner'. Now obviously this is partly the Tories torching the NHS and isn't the fault of the staff directly. But they aren't very helpful and can be evasive when asked about it. My wife asked if there's actually any doctors in the building and was told there's always a doctor on call. Presumably they have been told not to comment by senior people. We've not seen a doctor there in the year we've been there and our health is suffering because of it. If you have any other options to join another practice I would strongly suggest that you take them.

Senedd-dŷ Owain Glyndŵr Machynlleth, also known as Owain Glyndŵr's Parliament House, holds significant historical importance as the location where Owain Glyndŵr was crowned Prince of Wales in 1404. The site has transformed from a heritage spot with an admission fee to a multifaceted space featuring a bookshop, cafe, and community hub.
We hired the room upstairs for a community group event. Being able to use the garden outside for playing games was really useful. Small kitchen also good for making teas & coffees.
Corinne C — Google review
An interesting place to visit for free. The audio information was good - we listened to the first bit in the building itself (10 minutes) and the others in the car later (20 minutes). Just a few minutes needed to look around, it’s only a room really, but we had a lovely cup of tea from the cafe in the garden sitting in the sun and soaking up some history.
Nadine D — Google review
Interesting, there is not a massive number of items on display, helpful staff.
Adrian W — Google review
Went there for some acts at the Match Comedy festival. Lovely space. Lovely garden where they had set up food tents and had a live band. Didn't visit the museum. Tea shop seemed nice.
Paul Y — Google review
This was once purely a heritage site, with a quite hefty admission fee. It has now become a bookshop, cafe, and community hub - and is all the better for it. The bookshop is an excellent one, focusing on Wales, Welsh history, and Welsh culture. You can still see all the features of the parliament house and access audio guides and interpretation pieces about Owain Glyndwr, although you might find that you can't access the upper rooms if a workshop is going on. The original features of the parliament house are beautifully preserved as are a number of later rooms in the building, much of which is a large eighteenth century gentleman's townhouse, where there is a cafe, toilets, activity spaces, and a community bike shop. The bookshop owner doesn't mind you going into the parliament house proper just to look at the building.

There is nothing really here! It could be very interesting because it is a place of some historic significance. But there are no real exhibits, just a few information boards. At least it was free to enter. There is a small shop and a cafe next door.

Disappointing visit. None of the interaction boards were switched on, and only 2 helmets for children to try on. Could be much more visitor friendly with mock ups of events etc & even dressing up clothes for the little ones to reenact with

The Emporium Antiques Centre, located at 20 Heol Maengwyn, is a must-visit for vintage enthusiasts. The shop offers a fascinating collection of antiques and curios, including taxidermy animals, coins, antique silverware, art pieces, weapons, firearms, war antiques and furniture. Visitors have praised the unique array of items on display and found the prices reasonable for the quality of goods available.
Seriously worth going into this shop. It has fantastic stock, all really fascinating stuff considering antiques are not my thing at atall, I’m 29 years old. The main attraction for me was all the incredible taxidermy animals. I enjoyed this shop so much that I’ve asked my parents for a few items for my Christmas and birthday presents! I really think taxidermy animals are my new craze, as I’ve never liked them before because I’m an animal lover. I couldn’t leave the store without a mouse ! I will be returning ❤️
Luca B — Google review
This is an absolutely brilliant antiques shop! A really stunning and unique array of items, and although the prices were generally pretty high, I wouldn’t say that they were unreasonable- for example £30 for a pretty nice 1 oz silver coin is not bad at all. Really interesting display if taxidermy, coins, antique silverware, art, weapons, firearms, war antiques and furniture.

Visited today. Fantastic shop. Bought a picture. It was given to me without any wrapping or offer of a bag. I didnt have a bag. When I asked if it could be wrapped please, I was looked at as if I had 6 heads. The female disgruntled when I said they sell crockery, surely they have some wrapping, she then wrapped one thin piece of bubble wrap around the picture and handed it over. Seriously guys... You need to wrap the customers goods if they are breakable etc. Please don't talk about saving the planet, use recycled and recyclable stuff. Will not return.

The restaurant has received praise for its friendly staff and vegan menu options. Customers have described it as a gem with faultless service and delicious food, making it a must-visit dining spot in the area.
Lovely dinner spot, super friendly staff and very impressed that they had a vegan menu available. We arrived just as last orders for food were closing after a long hard day of cycling from the Elan valley, the waiting staff were super nice and helpful and the chef was "in a good mood" so we were lucky enough to be just in time to sample their new vegan menu, which was very tasty. We ordered one of each of the starters, mains and desserts and everything was fresh and tasty. Local beer and cider for drinks were very nice too. Would definitely recommend a stop here if you're passing through!

Great venue for cultural festival. Amazingly friendly people make it a joy!! Festival finale was world class, don't be fooled into thinking that Machynlleth Festival is a local event - this is a greatly undersold celebration across genres that would merit praise from the harshest critic. Clock Tower Apartments, also known as The Castlereagh Memorial Clock, is a prominent landmark in Machynlleth. Erected in 1873 to celebrate the 21st birthday of Charles Stewart Vane-Tempest, Viscount Castlereagh, it stands as the focal point of the town. This historic clock tower holds significance as the most famous landmark in Machynlleth.
It's well located, but room 2, the studio apartment is shabby, with an uncomfortable bed (mattress too soft so you feel the springs), unsuitable ready-bed so that our daughter ended up sleeping on the sofa. This room is advertised as suitable for 3 but really isn't. There's also damp in the bathroom and the locals block the gate, so you can't park where you're supposed to be able to.

Popped in for the first time this week. A very warm welcome by the staff, by far the busiest cafe (that afternoon) in Machynlleth. We both had coffee and the most glorious vegan chocolate cake, which I think is the nicest cake I've ever had (and I've had a lot). We spoiled the vegan-ness by smothering it in cream, but who cares 😁. Rest assured, we will most definitely be back!

Lovely little characterful place, it feels like a traditional tea room or a WWI pop up or something, in the best of ways. It has toilets but I didn't use them so can't say about disabled access or anything, but everywhere I went was clean. There is no dedicated parking, but I had no problems finding roadside parking. Historic beautiful building and garden with seating out the back. The coffee was really good, and the fresh cakes too. I would definitely drive out of my way to pop back if I'm anywhere near again.

Tucked away in the vibrant town of Machynlleth, Y Gegin Fach is a charming family-run café that has been delighting locals and visitors alike for over 15 years. This cozy spot is not only dog-friendly but also a breakfast lover's paradise, offering an array of hearty options from large breakfast baps to traditional Welsh breakfasts and vegan delights. The welcoming atmosphere created by the friendly staff makes it an ideal place to start your day.
Excellent selection of hot drinks, including specials. The butterscotch latte is lovely. Friendly, efficient & quick service Good menu choice with traditional cafe favourites. If you get a window table you get to watch the world go by. If its a dry day there is plenty of outdoor seating

Amazing place and very friendly staff. Not often, we will be able to find vegan options for breakfast in Wales. Food was delicious, clean and healthy. The vegan dark chocolate brownie was tasty too. Definitely recommend...

Great little cafe. The only one that was open over the NY period. The basic breakfast was cooked really well and came out boiling hot. Came with tea and coffee. Great selection of cakes too. Will definitely return

We ate vegan sausage rolls here, followed by an oat milk latte and amazing pastries for dessert. Very friendly service.

Great coffee and an absolutely perfect mini-cooked-breakfast. A delightful experience, dog friendly too. And we took away a caramel tart to nibble later. Wow..!!

I usually don’t like an English breakfast, but this one is amazing. The best one I’ve had across the country. Perfectly fried eggs, crispy mushrooms and not soggy, hashbrown not oily but so crisp and delicious, even the beans were good, normally they’re left on the plate. Great coffee too. And clearly this is a great local place to come, as it was buzzing with people all morning. Highly recommended.
