Pub
The Black Lion in New Quay, West Wales is a clifftop pub with 9 simple rooms that offer sea views and complimentary breakfast at the charming restaurant. The staff is friendly and accommodating, making it a child-friendly place with a small play area overlooking the beautiful sea. While some find the prices slightly high for what's offered, others highly recommend it for its quick service, enjoyable food like cajun chicken burger and incredible sticky toffee pudding.
Best pub in Newquay by a mile, top views and well kept garden. Enjoyed the varied beer selection and some choices you don't find everywhere which was great to see, so stayed for more than planned!
Joseph B — Google review
Amazing pub experience, they didn’t have sprite or 7UP but they did have lemonade as an exact alternative. The food was pretty good. I had a gigantic steak and lots of chips. for dessert. I had a scoop of the vanilla and strawberry ice cream. We were a group of like nine or something, so there was a lot of space for all of us, which is good. We sat outside where dogs are permitted. You have to go inside to get what you want, which is a little tedious, but it’s how it is. The staff were very nice and very talkative. They had bathrooms, including one for disabled people. We gave them a nice tip, and they said it will be split among the workers, which was nice to hear. It took until I was essentially done my food to find the salt, so that was unfortunate. I wish they had different containers to carry the salt, rather than little bags, which are shoved underneath all of the other condiments. Overall, nice place.

What a lovely place!! It would be 5⭐ just for the view!! But the staff, selection of drinks and the food were all fabulous!! Portion sizes were bigger than imagined. The Fish & Chips.. my god!! It was like a Whale on a chip mountain!! Delicious!! Thank you!!

An excellent Sunday roast-I’d go so far as to say one of the best I’ve ever had. We were passing and came in without booking. Seated with no fuss in the bar. Whoever is doing the cooking really knows what they’re doing as the roast pork was excellent as were all the accompanying vegetables. All staff were courteous and helpful. Nice local brew as well. I’d unreservedly recommend this for Sunday lunch.

The Black Lion has a great atmosphere, This place provides a perfect backdrop of the Sea view. Great for a few beers. I see tasty plates of scampi or fish and chips being served.

Wonderful greeting from the hosts Mike & Paula Beautiful interior decor - solid oak furniture- beautiful views - large beer garden with sea views Food menu is small but delicious and exvellent quantities We had a massive cod and chips and homemade lasagne
Louise S — Google review
We came here twice during our stay in the area, once for drinks and the second time for dinner - and for taking photos of all the memorabilia of the great Dylan Thomas whose favourite pub the Black Lion was! Oozing with the atmosphere of Thomas's photos, this place provides a perfect backdrop for a couple of very affordable beers or whiskies or a tasty plate of scampi or fish and chips.
Bina C — Google review
Awesome family pub for lovers of great food and Dylan Thomas. The beef in the chilli just melts in your mouth, the chicken in the curry was soft and flavourful and there's a hell of a meaty bite to the burger. There's also a park out the back to keep the kids entertained.

Dolphin & Whale Watching
Dolphin Survey Boat Trips offers an unforgettable experience for wildlife enthusiasts. The crew is knowledgeable and friendly, providing valuable information during the trip. While dolphin sightings are not guaranteed, the stunning coastal views make the journey worthwhile. The 1.5-hour trip is recommended for a more extensive exploration of the area. Additionally, the crew supports local wildlife researchers, adding an educational aspect to the excursion. Despite variable weather and tide conditions, communication with the crew ensures a smooth experience.
Even if we hadn't seen dolphins (we saw 5 including 1 that came up close to us but I was a bit slow with the camera), the trip was ideal. We had an extremely knowledgeable and friendly tour guide who spotted and showed us all of the local sea birds and explained their habitats in detail, as well as what may be there at different times of the year. The journey was smooth and professional and I love that the tours are supporting dolphin research. We absolutely hit the lottery with our tour but I imagine the tour would be great even in worse conditions.

We booked the 1 hour private charter, all I can say is 'Wow' it was amazing! The staff were exceptional, our guide chatted to us and engaged with the children, he was super knowledgeable. We got to see dolphins breaching and a mother and calf, along with many different sea birds, and we learned a lot about the local coastline. I can honestly say it was hands down the best value for money experience, would absolutely have done the trip again if we had been in the area long enough. Thank you Dolphin Survey boat trips for such an amazing and memorable experience!
Emma S — Google review
Lovely small boat with a max of 12 passengers plus crew . Easy to find, on time & prompt safe departing. We were able to move around as we liked, sitting or standing. We had a gorgeous day, but unfortunately no dolphins, we did however get a great view of the bird colony & our skipper gave great commentary. We had 2 volunteers on board who were collecting data & the intention of collecting up dolphin poo ! if we were lucky to see any All in all a very enjoyable , peaceful 1.5 hours & we would definitely go with dolphin survey boat if we were in the area again

A wonderful trip out with a lovely and very knowledgeable guide. No dolphins but plenty of fantastic wildlife including gannets and kittiwakes. Would highly recommend! Great for the little kids too, along with all their creative questions which were very kindly answered 😀

Wonderful trip hosted by the fabulous and knowledgeable Victoria. I went for the dolphins (lots of activity) but also loved the seabirds nesting on the cliffs and the incredible scenery and geology. Definitely recommend.

We had a great time, the crew were very knowledgeable and genuinely wanted us to enjoy our trip. We did see some dolphins which was amazing but sadly not up close, and lots of birds. My 10 year old granddaughter had never been on a boat before, and loved every minute, certainly found her sea legs!! Thank you so much.

Went out on a boat trip yesterday (05/09/2025) and it was very good! We managed to see so many dolphins, including a tiny newborn 🥹 the crew were very lovely and knew a lot of facts about the wildlife and area which was very interesting

Cardigan Bay Marine Wildlife Centre is a must-visit spot before heading out for dolphin watching. The small aquarium showcases various sea creatures not typically seen on boat trips in Cardigan Bay. Visitors can also find extensive information about the bottlenose dolphins, porpoises, and Atlantic grey seals that inhabit these waters and coastline. New Quay in Cardigan Bay offers a perfect holiday or day trip destination with plenty of things to do and family-friendly sandy beaches.

Had a walk down to the quay and watched the wildlife. Gulls, Gannetts and human beings. Got some fish and chips from the Lime Crab, excellent and plenty for 2 of us.
John H — Google review
What a fabulous day out, especially on a sunny day. Dolphin spotting on the sea is a very reasonable price for an hour & a totally enjoyable & informative experience. Fortunately, we managed to see a few dolphin pods out on the boat & got to travel along the beautiful coastline, learning about the land & other wildlife too. When the tide is out, there is also an opportunity to see seals on the rocks. As a bonus, dogs are allowed on the boat for free! There are also various other trips for different activities, a fishing trip, for example. Before you go down to Cardigan slip to catch the boat, you are surrounded by little seaside shops & eating places. There is a small green park with a few benches, public toilets are 20p here. The marina gets busy on a sunny day & can be packed full of people out catching rays, crabbing or on their dingys & sail boats. This place has steep hills & uneven ground, although a wheelchair & buggy user will need assistance, it is possible to get out on to a sightseeing boat & the staff are very helpful with this. A wonderful place to see & visit, even though parking can be a struggle in season (plan it before hand), it is well worth a visit!

Very impressive place with knowledgeable and friendly staff, plenty of activities and a great little shop with beautiful views!
Jay W — Google review
Nice little spot where you can book boat trips to see the dolphins. We preferred booking with them as the boat was a lot smaller, so not as many people on the boat, and we got 90 minutes out at sea. We ended up getting the boat to ourselves as no one else booked at the time we did, which was great. The staff here were friendly and there were some gifts to buy with some information about the dolphins. The tour guides on the boat were great and explained a lot about the coastline and the dolphins. They were very friendly and were chatty throughout the trip.

Lovely area, beautiful surroundings and great atmosphere. We went into many of the shops on the bay and everyone was friendly. The harbour was busy with people going about their business - walking, talking, fishing, boating. It's got a fantastic atmosphere. We will come back again!

This is really a must visit place. its wonderful all year round. But if you want to see the dolphins then summer time is ideal...We went back in October, weather wasn't so great...but the locals are very friendly and welcoming. So it don't matter what part of the world your from..they really do make you feel welcome. The sandy beach is really extra special. Kids will always have plenty to do. Our young ones really loved the beach. Its clean and family friendly. Lots of shops to visit and get souvenirs. and lots of small great places to eat out.

If you're in the mood for a delightful Chinese takeaway experience, look no further than Dragon Palace. This charming eatery has garnered attention for its quick service and delicious offerings, making it a perfect choice for families or anyone craving authentic flavors. Diners rave about the chow mein, which is described as absolutely delicious and kid-approved! Even the Singapore-style dishes have their own unique charm, providing a satisfying meal without feeling too heavy.
Chow mein was abolutely delicious. Kids loved it. Singapore version seem to miss usual spices but it nevertheless was tasty and didnt feel heavy. I would come back for more!

Ordered a small meal on Monday evening which was really nice. King prawns in batter cooked perfectly. Enjoyed it so decided to order again on Wednesday night. Spent over £60. We eagerly anticipate eating it but what an absolute disappointment and most inedible. You were in luck if you liked a sack load of onions in watery sauces. Had king prawns in batter again. Out of 9 balls, 5 were well overcooked and too chewy to eat. The egg fried rice was just a stodge of gooey rice with just enough egg to get a dna sample. I ordered king prawns and tomato but there were so many onions and about 4 piece of tomato. All the meals I ordered were just onions and nothing much else. I grew up in Hong Kong.My brother in law is Chinese and has a takeaway. This was the worst I've had. I don't like writing negative reviews but I have to be honest. I just wonder did they had a different chef on Monday to the chef on Wednesday. If last night's meal was on a par with Mondays, this would have been a different review altogether . Customers should expect a consistent quality for their meals especially when the food is expensive . I'm sad to say that I won't support this takeaway again.
Pauline M — Google review
Average Chinese takeaway. Food was fine but had better and worse. Beef was a little tough. Ordered in the shop and girl behind the desk barely acknowledged us even when giving our order, however there was a man outside painting the shop who was pleasant.
Alice M — Google review
2nd time trying the Chinese here. We first came in 2020 and saw it had a hygiene rating of 1 so we decided against it. Then last year we came again and saw it had changed to a three, so I we tried it. The food was good and the prawn crackers were fine. This time the hygiene rating has improved to four. The food was good but the prawn crackers were stale! We would try it again if we came back new quay.
Alex W — Google review
Popped in and ordered 15min wait 15 min spot on. Food poor and the prawn crackers were soft and soggy. Like they had been left for 4 days. Rang up to see if we could get some fresh. There reply was no could not care less we have others orders today.
David M — Google review
I ordered a House Special Curry. What I got was a curry with chicken, 1 king Prawn & what looked like spam in it. No mushrooms, beef, duck or pork ( unless you count the Spam - whatever it was, it came out of a tin ) If this had been my local Chinese Takeaway, I'd have taken it back. My daughter ordered a Singapore Chow Mein, which also had the same ingredients. I'm on vacation, if I lived locally, I'd never go there again. It seemed they'd run out of ingredients & just used what they had in stock.
Deborah N — Google review
They don't deliver and sadly you don't get prawn crackers free with your order like other take aways. All the food was very pale, rice was over cooked and the meat again looked to have little colour.

Hotel Penwig is a charming hotel located by the harbor, offering rooms with stunning sea views. The hotel features a relaxed bar and restaurant serving a variety of global dishes. Guests have praised the excellent service provided by staff members Stuart and Mandy, who worked tirelessly to accommodate guests despite being short-staffed at times. Visitors enjoyed the pub food options available, noting friendly and efficient service at reasonable prices.
Always a great experience at the Penwig, staff are lovely and attentive, food is great value and the views are exceptional! We’ve been lucky enough to see dolphins while sitting outside more than once!! :) we also stayed here and the bedroom was great, comfortable and the view was also fab from the room. Definitely recommend and will be returning soon :)

Descent food for the price, had to wait quite a while for it to arrive, maybe because we had a group of 8. Staff were friendly and engaging. Dog friendly pub with a nice front over looking the sea. Worth a visit.

Stayed here for two nights. Upgraded to very large sea view room (suite really) room 7 which was fab. Location is superb. All staff and service excellent and warm. Breakfast great value, lots of options. Pub classics, burgers, standard pub grub at reasonable price.only reason not 5 stars was that we ate late on a Sunday eve and whilst hubbies pie & chips was great my skin kn fries weren't hot and my peas were very shrivelled and sparse. Im sure any othet time there would be no issues. Two for £10 cocktails.
Sharon S — Google review
The food is great may be a bit of a wait on the days where it is busy but it’s 100% worth the wait, lovely staff very friendly, a lot of different drinks on offer including cocktails which are very nice. would definitely come back great view of the beach if you are sat by the window or outside, have seen some dolphins whilst sat outside and there is also cover if the weather is not the best.

We went here for breakfast last week. Lovely place, with lovely views. The man who served us was unfriendly. I asked if he had a phone charger I could use and he looked at me like I was something on the bottom of his shoe and said not at this time. My friend then ordered us both a classic cooked breakfast. She remarked that the same man was was very unfriendly. The lady who served our food was very friendly. When the food came it was nicely presented and non greasy. The only problem was that it was cold and luke warm. We didn't mention this as we were in a hurry and couldn't wait. IF the food would have been hot it would have been perfect and good value for money. The place is also Dog friendly. Such a lovely place to have breakfast, or a meal, shame about the Manager.

SeaMor Dolphin Watching in New Quay offers an enchanting experience of spotting playful dolphins in Cardigan Bay, often referred to as the Dolphin Capital of Wales. The best sightings are early in the morning or late afternoon at the harbor wall. The trip provides opportunities to see a variety of marine life including porpoises, seals, Balearic Shearwaters, Manx Shearwaters, and even a Peregrine falcon on Cardigan Island.
An amazing experience with SeaMor – a small, family-run company with a big heart. The guide spoke with immense passion and knowledge about the bay and local wildlife, making the trip truly fascinating. They did everything possible to ensure we saw as much as possible – and we were lucky enough to see seals and dolphins! We drove almost two hours to this attraction, and it was absolutely worth it. A lovely gift shop and fair prices. I highly recommend this company and this wonderful attraction in beautiful New Quay!

Absolutely loved it! Did the 90 minute trip and it was just brilliant! Saw lots of dolphins and a seal basking on the rocks, was 90 minutes of pure happiness. The guides were so lovely and gave lots of interesting information about the area, history and wildlife. Can’t recommend highly enough. Such amazing value for Money. Thank you SeaMor for a great experience

Absolutely stunning trip, well run, with very informative captain and wildlife expert on board. We saw lots of dolphins, and the sea bird colony was stunning too. Our 3 young children loved it all, and enjoyed the spray swell and sea experience! Thank you.

I will absolutely be going on a trip again. I went on the sunset dolphin spotting cruise on 12th August 2025. I went with a friend and my old dog. Perfect amount of people on the boat so everyone had a view. Almost immediately we spotted dolphins, many very close to the boat. We saw a lot on our trip and it was stunning to see them playing in their natural habitat. Obviously, they are wild animals so you are not guaranteed to see them despite many residing in the bay. The sunset was also amazing. It was over the harbour when we left & over the sea throughout the trip. It's an old pier so uneven in places so those with mobility problems (myself to some degree) need to take care, but the company are happy to assist and recommend the best trip for access according to the tide. That said the steps at the end of the pier are wide and with a rail and no big step onto the boat so fairly easy to navigate. I couldn't really hear the commentary, but I am a bit deaf, but I was happy just taking in the dolphins and the sunset. All the crew on board, docking & in the shop really friendly. I'll look forward to next time.

What ana amazing experience highly rate this company we paid for the 1hr and 30 mins trip which is well worth £20 per person. Big shout out to our tour leader richard and the driver of the boat Jamie very friendly and knowledgeable about the marine life and I love how they show obvious passion for not only caring about sealife but respecting it. We saw atleast 6 dolphins, 1 atleantic grey seal, many seabirds and their nesting ground and othe marine life. Highly light worth it and would go again myself. Richard was very gentle when handling the wildlife and certainly knowing what he is talking about learnt loads today

Beach
New Quay Beach is a stunning destination that offers visitors a chance to unwind on its soft golden sands, especially during the warmer months when the harbor comes alive with boats. This picturesque beach is not only dog-friendly but also features a charming town filled with colorful houses and quaint shops. While exploring, families can embark on boat trips to spot dolphins in the bay—an unforgettable experience! The beach provides beautiful views and has lifeguards for safety, along with nearby eateries serving delicious local fare.
I have few words at my disposal to describe the beauty of this place—because only your eyes can truly reveal it to you! I can leave you with some photos and videos as a keepsake from here, but my suggestion is that you absolutely visit this seaside village yourself. Enjoy its beauty, walk along the beach and the cliffs, go swimming, shop at the local stores where you’ll be welcomed with kindness, savor the delicious ice cream, fish and chips and take in the joy of a boat tour.😍😍

Watched bottle nose dolphins in the distance, while eating a gorgeous bag of chips from the captains rendezvous Which were required to get up the Steep hill to carpark by the surgery £4 for 2 hours, bit pricey out of peak season. Beach was dog friendly & clean.

Cool pier that has the opportunity to see a lot of dolphins and the Irish sea and even Ireland when it’s a sunny day. They have a telescope where you can see things for 20p and it gives you like a minute and a half or so. we saw the workers in the marina, putting boats in the water and taking them out. Great place to visit with a lot of crab restaurants. Nearby caught very locally.

New Quay Boat Trips offers an amazing experience for all ages. The staff are incredibly helpful and the tour is both informative and exciting. Even those who are nervous about small boats will find the trip enjoyable, as the sea is calm and there are plenty of dolphins to see. The guides have a wealth of knowledge about the local area, sharing interesting facts about Newquay and its wildlife.
What an awesome trip, fabulous crew and Michelle was an absolute fountain of knowledge. The views from the boat are stunning, seeing beautiful New Quay from the sea is amazing. Then we were blessed to be greeted by a pod of Dolphins, just phenomenal! 2 calves with the zoomies, and around 6 others all came close to say hello, just magical. So much to see the birds, the seals, the jellyfish.. and then the wonderful landscape where the land meets the sea. I did the hour and a half trip on sun catcher and 100% recommend this and definitely will be back. Thank you so much guys for an awesome experience.

Had a fantastic trip with these guys yesterday! The staff were friendly, polite and very knowledgeable and we were lucky enough to see dolphins within 10mins of sailing. Have to be really quick to catch them on camera when they breach the water, but we manged to snap a little glimpse of them. Amazing to see them and also all the different birds. The trip was great value compared to some other companies too.

We booked onto the 1.5 hour trip on the brand-new boat Suncatcher and from start to finish the whole experience was just fantastic. The booking process at the office the day before was quick and easy, with really friendly staff who clearly love what they do. The Suncatcher itself is brilliant – modern, comfortable, and well designed with an indoor seating area, full toilet facilities, and even a snack bar serving hot and cold drinks. It can seat up to 75 people, but on our trip there were fewer than 20, which made it feel really spacious and relaxed. The sea was a little choppy (it was October, so to be expected) but the sun was shining and the atmosphere on board was wonderful. Best of all – the dolphins did not disappoint! We saw so many, including the absolutely magical experience of them surfing the bow wave right beneath us. They came so close we could almost reach out and touch them. It’s something we’ll never forget. Sarah, who guided the trip, was absolutely superb – incredibly knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and clearly passionate about Cardigan Bay and its wildlife. She made sure everyone had the best possible chance of seeing the dolphins, pointing them out and sharing fascinating facts along the way. A big bonus for us was being able to bring our two Labradors along – the boat is very dog friendly, and they loved every second as much as we did! This was a truly special experience from start to finish – well-organised, welcoming, comfortable, and above all unforgettable thanks to the incredible wildlife encounters. We can’t recommend it highly enough – if you’re in New Quay, this is an absolute must-do!

We went for the 1.5 hr trip. Christian and Phoebe were amazing. They made the trip fun with their jokes and also shared a lot of information about the area. We got to see a lot of dolphins, seals and even huge crabs and a lobster from the pot that they had put out the night before. Its definitely worth doing and I would highly recommend it.
Kevin N — Google review
Really great experience. Went on the 90 minute trip . Be sure not to confuse the company with a similarly named one operating at the same pier. The weather was not amazing (heavy rain at times) but the female guides were very helpful, informative, and wiped down the seats regularly from the rain. They helped get our pram and dogs on/off the boat. Has an inside area in the boat too. We saw plenty of dolphins, which the guides pointed out to us, some of which came right up to the boat, absolutely amazing for pictures and viewing. Also got to see a seal too. We had a 3 years old daughter with us and the captain was so amazing, he let her sit in the captains seat and made her happy and feel special.
Simon R — Google review
Absolutely wonderful! It was my 2.5 year old’s very first time on a boat and it couldn’t have gone better. The captain and crew are clearly experts regarding all things safety, weather, dolphins and sea-life. Even when we had to rebook due to the storm, Joanna and the staff at the phone were so kind and helpful. Seeing the dolphins was unforgettable, but even if we didn’t see any, it would have been great fun. New Quay is gorgeous in rain and sun. The sea watch charity was really welcoming to my son, lovely seafood and ice cream and cute shops. Lots to see and do, so we look forward to returning.

Great experience! The guides were very knowledgeable. We saw four dolphins near the end of the tour, which we thought were two parents and two calves. Would definitely recommend!

What a phenomenal trip - we went on the dreamcatcher for an hour. We were taken out and checked on lobster basket which had crabs and lobsters inside. I was able to touch a Velvet crab and hold a lobster, which was a highlight I didn't know I needed in my life!!!! We also saw a brown crab which was quite vicious and learnt a huge amount about those creatures before setting off again. We immediately saw dolphins, some with pups. The information given was a great level really insightful but digestible. The staff were all incredibly professional - super personal obviously passionate but felt very responsible. I can't recommend this trip enough!

Harbour Beach New Quay

When visiting New Quay, Wales, a must-see is the picturesque Harbour Beach. Nestled beneath the charming village's sloping terraces and protected by the harbour wall, this Blue Flag beach boasts pristine waters and soft sands, making it an ideal spot for families. During peak season from late April to September, the harbour comes alive with colorful pleasure boats and vibrant houses lining the hillside.
Great place to sit and watch the dolphins from the harbour which you can see most days when the sea is calmer. There are lots of places to eat nearby and also public toilets which take contactless payment of 40p to enter. Parking is difficult at peak times near the harbour, we parked at the central car park, which is around a ten minute walk but there were plenty of spaces available and charged £3 for all day.

The Lime Crab in New Quay is a popular seafood spot with a small take-away setup that often has long lines of customers. It offers an authentic seaside dining experience, allowing patrons to enjoy some of the freshest fish and chips while overlooking the bay. The menu includes standard seafood fare as well as options for vegetarians and vegans, such as halloumi & chips and vegan curry. Visitors praise the light, crispy batter on the fish, well-cooked chips, and friendly service.
Most beautiful fish and chips from. This place also had slat and pepper squid. Good price decent portion right near the harbour. The male staff members who was on till was so very welcoming and friendly. Even though it was busy there wasn't ' a long wait for food and it was all cooked fresh. They only had 4 tables outside so seating is limited but loads of benches and walls around the harbour. They provide wood forks. Pots of ketchup and mayonnaise is 30p per pot but you get complimentary tare tare sauce with fish and chips and fresh lemon

We visited The Lime Crab in New Quay (S John St, by the pier, SA45 9NP) and had one of the best fish and chip meals we’ve ever enjoyed. I ordered cod and chips (freshly cooked to order) with a small side of tartar sauce, and added a portion of curry sauce. My wife went for sausage in batter and chips, also with curry sauce on the side. The batter was sensational — light, crisp, full of flavour — easily among the best I’ve tasted in my many years of enjoying British fish & chips. The chips stayed crispy (not soggy) which is always a mark of quality. My wife’s verdict: “this is the best chippy I’ve ever had.” Service was impressively quick. You order at the counter, then collect from a side hatch. When your meal arrives, you add your own salt & vinegar — a nice touch so you control how much. There’s a small undercover outdoor seating area (four or five tables) on a first-come, first-served basis, and it’s dog friendly, which is great for those bringing pets. On top of that, The Lime Crab is licensed — you can enjoy beer, wine, prosecco or even champagne with your meal. Overall, I wholeheartedly recommend The Lime Crab — it’s truly one of the finest fish & chip experiences we’ve had.

Brilliant fish and chip shop, the portions are huge!! The staff are super friendly and helpful. When you order food you have to wait until food is ready, when they call your name you can then put your own salt and vinegar onto your chips. We then sat and enjoyed our dinner on the harbour! Fantastic will definitely go again!

Delicious food, we come every time we visit new quay always nice. Freshly made, big portions for us we split the fish n chips between two, friendly staff quick service. Can get quite busy in peak holidays but well worth it. There are some oside seating around the side or sea if there is a bench along the harbour around the corner.
Rose — Google review
We visited here twice during our holiday. Both times we had excellent service and the most delicious fish and chips. We tried the fish platter which was so good. The fish bites were the stand out here but everything else was delicious too. We also had cod and scampi on our return visit, the chips where just as good as our first visit and the cod and scampi we’re also a delight. Sitting eating them on the harbour wall while dolphins swam around made them even more special.

Absolutely amazing food in a perfect setting with amazing friendly couldn't do enough for us service! Kids had cod and chips, adults had the sea bass and chips which was delicious! And they catered for my son who is gluten free. Everybody finished the lot off without one chip being stolen by a seagull! Will definitely be back to try out more when we get to venture back out that way. Thank you Lime Crab! 🦀
Craig P — Google review
Absolutely amazing fish and chips. The White Bait was amazing. Very generous portions. The Gluten Free Fish looked identical to everyone else, not the normal cardboard like GF batter. We ate on their terrace, the only odd thing was being told to take our rubbish over the road and put it in a public bin.
Simon H — Google review
The Sea bass and chips are amazing, one of the best I have had in a while! Also the quirkyness of the town port made it somehow a wholesome experience to eat this, only beware of the greedy seagull's wagering for the chips😆

Nestled just a short stroll from the bustling harbor, Dolau Beach is a charming and tranquil spot in New Quay. This petite stretch of golden sand, measuring around 50 meters, offers visitors ample space to unwind even during the peak summer season. Unlike its busier counterpart at Harbour beach, Dolau welcomes dogs, making it an ideal destination for pet owners.
This is one of my favourite places to visit for a day trip out, shops are very close by so you don't need to walk far for fish and chips. There isn't a lot to do here but it is a great place to relax and have a walk around. 10/10

Fun beach with lots of round stones that you can skip on the water with. Nice path on the way down. However, we did see a wild rat on the walkway. There was also a sign called “2 Min Beach Cleanup” where you would get a picker upper and you would spend two minutes cleaning up the beach, but that sign was completely trashed and the picker upper was nowhere to be seen, so that social initiative was unfortunately not working. Would have been fun to participate in.

It was our three girls (11 & 14) second Fun Splash session this year and they absolutely love it every time. Cameron is a real favourite with them but all the instructors are very good and make the whole thing safe and full of fun. They can't wait to go again!

Booked kayaks for the first time with my family, and what a lovely time it was. Safety boats all around the bay, which was very reassuring for us beginners. Staff are lovely and on hand whenever needed. Good facilities including lockers, changing rooms and toilets. Only downside is the dolphins come into the Bay an hour after our time!!! We will be back :)

I would definitely recommend Cardigan Bay Watersports. We just showed up and asked to hire two kayaks and were able to get it all sorted and get on the water fairly quickly. The staff were really friendly and helpful, and I think the prices were very reasonable. Amazing location to be able to kayak and the area that you are allowed to travel around is quite large so plenty to do in the hour of hire time. Dolphins do also sometimes come into the bay you can kayak in, but unfortunately weren't there when we entered the water. They also provide lockers so you can safely store all your valuables whilst out on the water. We did kind of have to guess when to head back in as we didn't have any way of telling the time whilst kayaking, but managed to time it pretty perfectly.

We hired a paddle-board for an hour and the experience was great! The staff were really friendly and the process was really straightforward so we received our full hour on the water! A great way to see New Quay from the water.

Looking forward to the Saturday sailing sessions starting up again this year, really enjoyed my weekly sailing sessions with experienced instructors and well-maintained equipment. Even the dolphins appeared to watch my novice sailing! More recently, I was lucky enough to experience ‘Trident’, the 135hp rib used for the Power Boating courses, a very well equipped and maintained rib. Attached pictures of Trident leaving Arklow, Ireland. Shots include the cockpit as ‘we’ navigated final leg of the Irish crossing in the dark and one of the dolphins welcoming us back into Cardigan Bay.

We've been here 3 times now as a family. Once for paddle boarding and twice for kayaking. Each time we've had a different instructor/supervisor and they've all been excellent. Very friendly, nice and informative. For the quality of supervision, equipment and changing facilities it is fantastic value for money. Also the harbour at New quay is an amazing place to try these sports out as it's so calm and stunningly beautiful. Would give extra stars if possible!

Called in one day for a spot of lunch. Was impressed by the feel of the place. We sat upstairs and had a lovely view over New Quay Harbour. Our food was fantastic, there was a slight delay with one of the meals but this was communicated to us by the staff well in advance and not a problem. Plenty of room to sit down. Hot drinks and pastries available to buy in a cafe type area downstairs which you can also takeaway. Would definitely return next time I'm in New quay.

What a delightful restaurant right on the harbour. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with such warmth and the friendly service continued throughout the evening. The menu offers something for everyone. Being fish lovers though, we had to try the specials. The lemon sole with garlic caper butter stole the show for me. My husband had the whole bream and that tasted amazing too. Thank you for a great evening. We will definitely return next time we visit New Quay.

Great little coffee shop overlooking New Quay bay, perfect to watch the world go by. Lovely staff and one of the best Latte I've ever had and food was top drawer even if a touch pricey. Cheddar and chutney sandwich was really good and the chips were fantastic. Well worth having a bite here.

We couldn't eat in as we had the dog, and all seats outside were taken. However, we ordered 2 desserts to take away, my favourite, the peanut butter stack, and a gluten-free lemon meringue pie....both absolutely delicious. The service was great and friendly. Look forward to calling here again.

Lovely spot for lunch with friendly staff We had a really nice lunch here—staff were welcoming and friendly. The food was freshly made, very tasty, and clearly good quality produce was used. We were seated downstairs near the bar, which was great as we had a pram with us. It's a bit of a shame there's no lift to access the upstairs area, which offers glorious views. A couple of small things that could improve the experience: menus weren't on the tables, so we had to collect one from the bar, and there were no drinks menus in sight. Table numbers might also help the waiters a bit. Overall though, it's a lovely place for lunch, and we’ll definitely be returning!

We had an absolutely lovely meal here. For starter I had dough balls with smokey chorizo mayo, for main the lamb and for pud the spicy toffee apple tart with custard. Everything was top notch. We've also visited for coffee a couple of times - the coffee/hot chocs have been nice, and as for the location, you can't get much better! *To add: the service was great & friendly. With the extra precautions for Covid, we felt very welcome, comfortable and safe.

We had a nice meal at the watch house. The staff were very welcoming and attentive throughout the evening. The food was nice, but it was more small plates than tapas. Pizzas nice, but piled up with toppings, which made them a bit soggy - still tasty though. Overall a nice meal, but just needs refining a bit. Great view across the bay and a decent wine list. We did feel like we were being hurried out of the door when we were finishing our drinks though, we were fine about this (music turned off when we had paid the bill and had a half a glass of wine left), but some may not be.

What a lovely restaurant, situated in a fantastic spot in New Quay town. Panoramic view from inside the restaurant of the bay. The food was delicious, pizza menu.
