Penkridge Markets is a delightful traditional market that comes alive every Wednesday and Saturday, offering an eclectic mix of food, crafts, and antiques. Nestled in the heart of Penkridge, this vibrant hub attracts visitors with its diverse stalls and friendly atmosphere. Early risers can enjoy a hearty English breakfast at the café before diving into the treasure trove of products available. From plants to watches at budget-friendly prices, there's something for everyone.
Brilliant market lots of bargains to be had believe me if they haven't got it you don't want it from in season duck eggs to litter pickers it's all here and all going on brilliant day out cafe here fresh fruit jacket potatoes a meat van a small free car park plus a bus from Wolverhampton 287 stops here. Disabled access available 3 toilets brilliant 👏 👌

Really good market. Well laid out. Everyone seemed super friendly. Plenty of on site parking. On site cafe was really nice. Plenty of other food outlets as well. My mum is a wheel chair and was fine getting around the market however we did have some trouble getting from the car park as we had to park in overflow but that’s not anyone’s fault we just arrived later in the day.

Visited yesterday for the first time after hearing about it for years, it was very busy but calm at the same time. Lots of people and a good variety of stalls selling just about everything you'd expect but no shouting no pushing or shoving, the most enjoyable market we've been too in years. I wouldn't recommend the burger van, it's typical of it's type and smells better than it tastes, there is a cafe but we didn't spot that until after we'd eaten. The place was also noticeabley clean, didn't spot a single piece of litter and only saw one bin (at the burger van).
Rob S — Google review
Lots of stalls. Parking is VERY busy. Some good offers but others not so much. Definitely rectthe ice-cream man!
Melanie B — Google review
Very busy, loads of stalls, great to see a thriving market
Gn912457 — Google review
Lots of stuff. Clothes, hardware, food, cheap electronics (in both senses of the word), kitchen bits, plants, fresh fruit and vegetables, gardening tools, garden decorations, pet treats and toys, childrens toys. We were expecting it to be really crowded, but it wasn't at all. Maybe a lot of people stayed inside in anticipation of the hot weather, but this morning wasn't bad. Nice to wander through and gawk at the animals.

Open Weds and Sat. Varied stalls from Butchers to watch store, electrical house hold goods, you name it, they will most likely have it....Cafe and WC facilities. Nice and friendly atmosphere! 😊

Went to the military market on August 17th. It was delightful. Plenty of stalls of high quality goods and dedicated sellers. Well attended and great parking. Roll on October!

Nestled in the heart of Penkridge, The White Hart & Upstairs at The White Hart is a charming pub that embodies the spirit of community. With its inviting atmosphere and friendly staff, it’s a perfect spot for both locals and visitors alike. Lovely Pub in Penkridge Village, Manager and Staff are very welcoming, good atmosphere, nice beer garden at the rear. They have a Darts team and there's 2 rooms, one is a proper country village bar room and the Second is a Lounge where is quiet and comfortable.

Amazing pub, very family orientated and bar staff so welcoming xxx Marie has done an amazing job
Davina D — Google review
No food other than bar snacks so had to one star that. Visited three times, each time different bar staff on, each time been made to feel welcome, the last two times including yesterday afternoon the bar staff have remembered our order after the first round which is a really nice touch. You get the feeling it's a close knit community pub from everyone knowing each other and the banter at the bar. Very reasonably priced drinks, clean, tidy, free WiFi with PW on the wall, outside seating for the nice weather and dog friendly 10/10 I'm not sure if you're allowed to take food in like similar pubs we've been too but that would be the icing on the cake if so.

It is reminiscent of a bygone era, offering a genuine old-school experience that has become increasingly rare. I absolutely love it here! The staff are so helpful and if you follow a specific diet like gluten free, all of the sweets are labelled which one's are gluten free or not! There are a lot of different options and the one's we chose were all fresh and tasted amazing. They even have ice cream from a local ice cream farm which tasted incredible! Will definitely be visiting again

We popped in on a rainy day and my son’s eyes lit up, what a treat! We found all kinds of retro sweets, American treats and all kinds of good stuff. They even had salted liquorish, which can be hard to find. If you’re in the area, it’s well worth a visit! Excellent friendly service, no rush, no pressure, just a lovely experience. Thank you.

I was served by a lovely, welcoming, smiley lady, who let us browse the shop at our leisure (so nice not to feel pressured into buy something, because the staff are pushy). Brought some items for Father's day which went down a treat with the recipients. It also has sweets from my childhood, which is a nice trip down memory lane. Would definitely use this lovely little shop again!!

The Penkridge Heritage Centre is a delightful museum housed within a historic structure that has served multiple purposes, including being a barn and a jail. Although it operates for limited hours each week, this charming venue offers visitors the chance to explore two prison cells on its lower level along with an ever-changing exhibition on the upper floor. The friendly volunteers are more than willing to guide you through the center's fascinating displays.
A very comfortable but unique meeting place. Regrettably it does not have a lift upstairs and that regrettably restricts it to those fit enoghj to manage thestaircas.

Charming local museum in an old building that has variously been a barn and a jail. Only open a few hours a week, there are two jail cells downstairs and an exhibit upstairs which changes every year. Friendly volunteers are happy to show you round. The current exhibit (2018) deals with the end of WWI.

Recently refurbished, it boasts a well-lit interior and an inviting atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for relaxation. With a diverse menu featuring hearty dishes like their renowned homemade pies, diners can expect generous portions of fresh and flavorful food. The friendly staff are knowledgeable and accommodating, ensuring everyone feels welcome—especially furry friends!
My dog Ernie and I went to the Bell based on the Google recommendations and they're completely right. This is a wonderful pub and we received a lovely warm reception and a special treat for Ernie which he gratefully wolfed down! The food is wholesome, home made and gorgeous and I would recommend this wonderful establishment to anyone! There is a section for people dining with dogs which is unusual and very welcome rather than being crammed next to the bar and they've got a beautiful parrot called Mickey who is stunning and entertaining!

Hadn't been in here for ages, hearing it had recently been done up, thought I'd give it a go . Nicely laid out, good range of drinks and excellent service. Impressive menu, and the portions do tend to be on the large side. Had a chicken and bacon pie and chips, could only eat half which was a shame, as the food is fantastic. Easy to get to (next to the A5) and lovely views out the back, would be nice during the summer. Only slight drawback is the same as a lot of modern pubs, which is wooden floors and no curtains, which can amplify the noise if busy. Also has the added attraction of a parrot! :-D Definitely recommend it, fantastic food and service, can't wait to return
David M — Google review
The Bell is great pub restaurant. Its comfortable to sit in with well lit modern decor but still maintaining its older charm. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable, dogs are welcome in the bar and raised seating area (very welcome, water down, 'dinner' offered, snacks available). Food is really good; wholesome, fresh and tasty. You have to have a pie, lots of choice, fresh made in the kitchen, just brilliant.

A warm welcome to be had from the moment we walked in. Not overly busy but still a great atmosphere. Proprietors Caroline and Nicola are extremely attentive without being overbearing. The food is freshly cooked and delicious. Well done girls, had a fabulous afternoon and will definitely be returning soon. "A little gem" 👌👌

Kaffeine, a charming café, extends a warm welcome to its patrons. Visitors are even allowed to bring their dogs along. The cappuccino and Americano served here are bursting with delightful flavors. Although the cakes looked tempting, unfortunately there were no gluten-free options available at that particular time; however, they usually have some on offer. Instead, they provided marmalade on gluten-free toast as an alternative.
A great warm welcome from the Kaffeine staff. We were even allowed to take the dog in. The cappuccino and Americano were full of flavour. The cakes looked great but unfortunately no gluten free on this occasion, normally there are some available. I had marmalade on gf toast instead . The staff were very friendly . The price is on par with other local coffee shops.

Beautiful room. Perfectly wonderful staff and my sandwich was amazing. Served quickly and catered for the kids really well. I’m definitely more of a greasy spoon type of cafe bloke so this was a great change but I usually get a bit more for my money. This is to be expected with such polite service and far better surroundings. Will be back to try the lunches :)

With its warm and inviting ambiance, it serves as the perfect backdrop for various occasions—be it lively gatherings, special celebrations like birthdays and anniversaries, or intimate dinners for couples seeking a cozy night out. Located conveniently on Mill Street, Flames not only offers delicious food but also boasts friendly service that ensures a pleasant dining experience.
We were staying overnight in the area at a local hotel and, wishing to eat out, came upon Flames by chance. We were given a warm we!come and the positive qualities were soon developed. The staff were enthusiastic, well informed, and keen to explain. The food was delicious, and they encouraged us to develop our tastes further. They spoke with us at various times in the course of the meal, not in an intrusive way, but in a conversational manner that enriched our understanding. An excellent experience.

Always at good night at Flames. You are greeted with friendly smiles and shown to your table. The menu is big and caters for all tastes and diets. You can bring your own alcoholic drinks, but they sell soft drinks. The food is well presented and cooked well. Wasn't that busy when we were there, so not much of an atmosphere. At least you were able to talk. A good night out. Flames only take cash, so make sure you visit the service till first.

We had a fantastic experience at Flames. The food was absolutely amazing – full of flavour, beautifully cooked, and clearly made with care. What really stood out was how well they catered to my vegan wife. There were plenty of tasty vegan options, and the staff were knowledgeable and accommodating, which made the whole experience even better. We were both really impressed and left feeling satisfied and looked after. We’ll definitely be back soon – highly recommend!

Thanks to Shine and Cam. We stopped in Penkridge on the way back home from Dover to Scotland. The restaurant was very quiet on a Tuesday night but that meant the staff had lots of time for us. Great chat. Great recommendations for food based on what we liked and then we had the best Indian I think we've ever tasted! Can recommend the Capsile and the Tawa. Also their home made sauces for poppadoms are delicious! Shame we don't live closer but will be back when next travelling M6! PS. They sell soft drinks. You can take your own alcohol if wanted.

Ordered a tikka masala and when questioned why the masala was like water….. was told that is how it’s meant to be…. No it’s not. Other dishes were all watery and the chilli paneer while having chilli on the plate lacked any punch. Won’t be going back anytime soon as £50 for x3 poorly executed dishes with a couple of sides is bad value

Laura-Sophie C — Google review
The place was absolutely freezing when I visited a few weeks ago, so much so that I wore my coat through the whole meal, as did the people on the table next to us. The meal was ok, not as flavoursome as some curry houses but the portions were good. We were overcharged and had to querie the bill, where over £14 worth of food was then taken off the bill that we hadn't even ordered. Won't be back again unfortunately.

Beautiful pub! Decor is gorgeous, staff are welcoming and food is out of this world! The food is always hot, fresh, tasty and served with a smile and in good time. We’ve been coming regularly for a while and the new menu is bringing in so many new people, we have to book now to make sure we get a table, couldn’t be happier to have this gem just down the road! My favourite is the dolce latte chicken, super tasty!

We had a meal in the restaurant, so can’t comment on the rooms. First impressions were of a beautiful old building, with decor in keeping with the age of the property. There was a good choice of dishes on the menu. The food was very good, however the service was poor! We ordered 2 drinks…only 1 arrived at the table, and we had to ask again! After the main course, we were NOT offered any desserts or coffee, needless to say, no tip was left. Come on Littleton, you can do so much better than this!!

Some really nice bar and restaurant spaces in this old hotel. Stopped here for a coffee a few times as they're open to non-guests from 8.30 for coffee, cake, and breakfasts. Good coffee and service, with beautiful fresh flower displays, and dog friendly too. There's a lot to like here, so will be coming back to try the breakfast.

I’m never one to write reviews but this place deserves only 5 stars. The staff are incredible, nothing is too much for them and the food is always high quality and super tasty! I’ve been in under many different circumstances but one thing I’m always in for is their takeaway goodies. They have fresh sausage rolls and other sweet and savoury pastries and cakes which I like to come in and take to work with me. The Littleton is a great addition to our lovely Penkridge. It’s great to have an easy pop in pub and then a high quality restaurant in the evening with food that you would travel miles for! Well done to everyone at the Littleton and Davenport’s, thank you.

Guests have praised the attentive service provided by the friendly new manager, ensuring that everyone feels welcome during their visit.
Staying near overnight. Been here before and the Sunday dinner was great then. Today it was fantastic! We nipped in around 11:45 to book a table for 13:30, when we got there, the staff went above and beyond to make our visit perfect. Everyone was really engaging, polite and smiley! We were made to feel extremely welcome. We ordered from the lunchtime menu and decided to have the Roast Beef, and Turkey Sunday lunches. The presentation was great, the food tasted absolutely lovely and importantly it didn’t leave us feeling absolutely stuffed! There are other options for the Sunday lunch that I am sure will leave you as full as you want, if it is as nice as ours today, you will love it. Tactically leaving room for a desert we chose the apple pie and ice cream and cherry crumble and cream! Again, they were both beautifully prepared and tasted as good as they look! Wine nice, John Smiths very nice! We would eat here again 100%. Thanks to everyone involved, made our Sunday afternoon perfect. (The last pic of a cleared plate pretty much says it all!)
Andy B — Google review
The beef Sunday roast was disappointing. There was a wad of poorly green "garnish" on top. Veggies were old. Beef was not fresh. Most disappointingly, there was the flavor of dish soap on the bottom of the mashed potatoes bowl - a first for me. It was served on a table sporting a vinegar bottle from the mid 00's with a torn off lid. Not for foodies. Stick to beer at this pub.

Had the vegan "chicken" burger and curly fries. The sandwich was nice; very moist and tender and topped with an almost sweet salsa. Fries were crispy and tasty. Service was fast, if not particularly friendly. I was shown to a table on the other side of a wall from the bar area where the other people were seated. The server was quite brusque, and it felt like I was inconveniencing her. I was polite and respectful, but I got the absolute minimum of words in response to a couple of questions about the food and drink. Wearing clean clothes. Showered. I don't smell. I didn't flirt. I didn't make any unreasonable requests; in fact, I don't think I made any aside from ketchup, to which the response was, "You should have some in your basket," and she left without waiting to see if I did. I'd been through the basket while waiting for food and missed the two packets of ketchup as they were the same colour as the BBQ sauce. To summarize, food was good, service was fast, but I was not made to feel welcome in any way. Ate, paid, and left. Unless there was a death in the family, I am at a loss for the way I was treated.

My friends are carnivores and had steak & chips, fish & chips. I had the cannelloni which was lovely, served with a side salad and garlic bread.

Went for Sunday dinner with mom & daughter and had one of the best Sunday roasts I've had in many a year. We ordered 2 gammon and 1 turkey, roast potatoes perfect, veg perfect, neither soggy or rock hard, gravy good and gammon wasn't salty. Presentation lovely, service quick and polite, The Boat Inn is a rustic pub, my only criticism is the signage or lack of for the parking (side road and track between houses). Definitely worth a trip and very good value for money.

Not for me. Sorry. Pit stop to Lancashire. Likened my food to a school dinner - boiled chicken in a thin sauce served on a skillet.

We ate on Tuesday lunchtime which is two for the price of one on mains, so excellent value! The servers were friendly and it's a nice place to sit for a while. My ribs were good and I'd recommend. My wife's lamb lacked flavor and mash needed seasoning. They'd run out of cask ales too, which is always disappointing.
