Zirben Alm is a charming spot in high-altitude Obergurgl, just south of the main village and at the bottom of the Steinmannbahn lift. It offers a delightful dining experience with Tyrolean specialties on a panoramic sun terrace. The newly designed areas provide a cozy atmosphere for indulging in delicious treats prepared by their pastry team. Families can relax while children enjoy the generous playground with various equipment.
My ‘Happy Place’ in the Obergurgl Alps. Friendly, great service and awesome food. Proper Austrian, lovely soups. It is never a cheap option dining at a slopeside restaurant but I never have any regrets. Been here more than ten times in all. Gets really busy at lunch but plenty of outside seating if the weather is suitable. In my view Zirben Alm is difficult to fault.

I've been there twice. Food is always fresh, large portions. At lunchtime, if the place is full, you have to wait, but the excellent food, the atmosphere and the view make up for it. The waiters and the girl with glasses are also very nice. I'd love to go again. I recommend it to others, so they can try it out.

Has the vegetarian version of gröstl. A little pan with fried potatoes and some nice vegetables. Great savory afternoon snack. Not too heavy. Very nice. I like this place. Terrace is not that large but it's surprisingly big inside and the place was packed! For a good reason. Full of nice people working there. Great vibe. Came back the a few days later and just had to try their Kaiserschmarrn. Served as fresh as it could be. With a big portion of cranberries. Super yummy. This dish alone is a reason to come here.

Great restaurants at the bottom of the hill. We had barley soup and mushroom soup and both were delicious but a bit too salty. Service was great and overall we enjoyed sitting outside having the soups and mould wine

Lovely mountain hut. Great food and nice service staff. We enjoyed their Kaiserschmarren and their Zirben Icecream. There is a great playground for kids outside the garden.

We enjoyed a coffee and some pie. Pieces of cake are very big; kids had chocolate cake and only able to finish halve. Can recommend the home made 'Zirbenschnapps' (alcohol-shot/liquor). Big playground for the kids 😀

Had a currywust with chips, which was fantastic! The chips are cut into these "c" shapes to maximize their surface area, which made them taste fantastic! Also had a hot chocolate here which was very welcomed when it was cold outside.

Great meals and desserts, very nice place with views on surrounding mountains. There is also nice kids playground. Staff is friendly and smiling. Recommend.

Hiking Trails
Zirbenwald, also known as the Stone Pine Forest, offers a picturesque hiking trail through centuries-old trees and alongside the Gurgler Ache river. The 1.4-kilometer route leads to the impressive Rotmoos waterfall before continuing through the forest to the Schonwieshutte. The area is adorned with informative boards and benches for resting, making it suitable for families and leisurely strolls.
(Translated by Google) Great forest with many interesting information boards and some highlights. It's a really great place to switch off and enjoy the peace and quiet during a leisurely evening stroll. The scent of pine trees in the air here is something very special 😉 The circular route is easy to walk, even for families or hikers who are not particularly fit, there are always benches or loungers to rest on. At the end you can either stop off at the Zirbenalm or walk down to Obergurgl. (Original) Toller Wald mit vielen interessanten Informationstafeln und einigen Highlights. Am Ende kann man entweder in die Zirbenalm einkehren oder hinunter nach Obergurgl laufen.

Hexenkuchl is a delightful dining destination that promises an exceptional culinary experience. The food here is of top-notch quality, featuring a diverse menu that includes both light dishes like fish and hearty options such as Cordon Bleu and Käsespätzle. Guests can expect generous portion sizes, ensuring satisfaction with every meal. While the service is friendly and welcoming, it may lack in attentiveness at times, as some diners noted missed opportunities for drink refills or dessert offerings.

(Translated by Google) Rip off! Unfortunately, that's the only thing we can think of about the restaurant. We chose cheese fondue, which cost €35 per person. The price-performance ratio alone was borderline: far too little cheese and incredibly few side dishes for two people. Since it wasn't enough for us, we ordered more cheese. In the end we paid €105 for the cheese fondue. We paid €35 for the additional portion of cheese without even getting another side dish. When we asked, we received an incredibly rude answer from the head waiter, who tried to explain to us that these mini portions of cheese fondue had been calculated by the chef. That was all. Not a sensible conversation, but rather a cheeky breakfast with questions. Be careful when ordering cheese fondue at the restaurant. There are many other alternatives in Obergurgl. Don't fall for it. The service from the waiter, who was brand new and really made an effort, was great! PS: if you want to eat a great fondue, we can recommend the Gentian. Great food and incredibly good service. The Hexenkuchl could take a piece of this... (Original) Abzocke!

Hotel Edelweiss & Gurgl is a luxurious accommodation in Obergurgl, offering ski-to-door access and free WiFi. The hotel boasts upscale amenities including a horse stable, ski room, fine dining restaurant, spa with sauna and hot tub, and breathtaking mountain views. The renowned "Otztaler Stube" restaurant within the hotel serves exquisite dishes crafted by the talented chef Michael Kofler.
Our 3rd year in a row at the Edelweiss and it continues to impress. Service excellent. Quality of food is superb. Sauna and pool area very well appointed although the pools could be warmer. The convenience of the boot room being adjacent to the ski hire and being a short escalator ride from the 2 main lifts and ski school is second to none. Very likely we will return again.

We had an outstanding experience at the Edelweiss & Gurgl Hotel. Everything about this hotel is truly top notch — from the stylish and comfortable rooms to the excellent service throughout our stay. It’s perfectly located right at the foot of the slopes, making it incredibly easy to ski in and ski out. The restaurant deserves a special mention. We really enjoyed the lunch menu after skiing — it’s the perfect spot to relax without even having to leave the mountain. The Edelweiss Toast is a real highlight: tasty, satisfying, and exactly what you need after a morning on the slopes. The service is just as impressive as the food. The main man running the outside bar and restaurant area was incredibly helpful and friendly, making sure everything ran smoothly even when it was busy. He added a real personal touch to the experience, making us feel genuinely welcome every time we stopped by. Highly recommend Edelweiss & Gurgl — we’ll definitely be back!

Truly a great Hotel. The rooms are nice and clean and the surroundings are beautiful - you have a lot of options reachable on foot and the mountains aren't as scarred by ski tracks as they are in Sölden. But the best part is the staff and the kitchen - they are always super friendly, can accommodate all needs (any allergies or getting something vegan is no problem at all) and all courses have always been excellent, without any exceptions. Special thanks to Niklas, for always being super entertaining, and Christian, for always being caring and providing a great service. We'll surely be back next year :)
Sebastian F — Google review
The ski-in, ski-out location is super convenient. The boot room is connected to the lifts by escalators. The lockers relate to each room and are opened only by the room key. It is all very secure and easy! I broke my ankle skiing. The enforced downtime was no hardship at this lovely hotel with its amazing spa and helpful staff. The food was also excellent, particularly breakfast. The waiting staff helped me by bringing the food from the buffet to the table directly. I suppose my only recommendation would be to have a lift directly from the boot room to the other floors rather than have to take stairs down but this is a pretty minor issue. Overall, a fantastic hotel.

My first time up in Obergurgl, and what a fantastic place. Just such a shame that there are so few people finding their way here in the summer, and I will certainly be back. Stayed 3 nights here and did some of the via ferratas and some fantastic hiking. This is a true "gem" with all conveniences, lovely spa, fantastic breakfast and dinner (had booked half board) and staff that were extremely service minded. I have to mention Anna-Maria in the reception who were just outstanding in her service and support. Very good value for money and I can only say, go here.
Bengt P — Google review
This was our second year at the hotel and we loved it so much the first year, we booked again. However things have gotten worse year on year and it was disappointing. Our room was tired and didn’t reflect the price we were paying overall. Big aspects felt like it lacked investment. Everything was exceptionally clean, but the hair dryer didn’t work, the sink unit was damaged, my mattress was worn and had a massive dent in it, the blinds let light into the room (no blackout blinds and the curtains were only for show), the kids pull out bed had a ridge mid-mattress and the decor a bit 2000s. Yes the mattress and hair dryer were solved quickly when I asked but that meant we had two mattresses on the main bed at very different heights and these aren’t things we should have had to point out. Not at this price. The service in the dining room was also much much worse year on year. The staff were lovely but there simply wasn’t enough of them and one evening we were waiting 30+ mins to order and easily 40 mins for our food. It’s especially a problem when you’re there with a young family. No one has that patience and the lack of personal service was sad. Location is A1+, boot room excellent, bar and bar staff are great, communal areas lovely…. But the bit we spent time in, behind closed doors wasn’t up to spec. Oh, and €8.50 for a sparkling water at dinner felt like a joke, a lesson in price elasticity felt needed (I may be the only guest who ever looks though). Very bitter sweet sadly this year.

Nederhütte is a popular ski hut located at the top of the main lift out of Obergurgl, Austria. It is known for its lively apres-ski atmosphere during the high season, featuring regular parties with its own house band, Die Nederlumpen. The family-run hut offers a vast sun terrace with picturesque mountain views where visitors can enjoy traditional Tirolean music and hearty local dishes such as spare ribs and Swiss ham and cheese pasta.
One of the main apre ski parties are up here. Live music Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Friendly staff, great Kaiserschmarrn and fantastic atmosphere! Thumbs up! Towards the end of the day if you are too 'merry' then you can get the ski jet to take you down to your hotel which is quite a good touch!

They sure know how to throw a party- on certain days. If you are looking for après-ski in the Gurgl area, look no further. The house band, die nederlumpen adds a unique approach to the traditional Austrian after ski party, the band sure acts like the match that starts the fire 🔥 They offer a large selection of wine in flashy magnum size bottles, I noticed a table consuming large bottles of the US showboating favorite rose - whispering angel. We stuck to the traditional Austrian party beverages. Definitely not my last visit.

Took a place at a table waited 30min to order, were told few time that someone will take care of us and when finally a waiter came to us he told us that we have to leave because they had too many customers... 30 min after offering us to sit...

We ate here several times during our skiing holiday and it’s already compliment on its own if you are willing to take several lifts just to make sure you eat at this place :) The service is quite fast and very polite, food is served in a timely manner and it’s quite tasty for the fact that the place is at over 2600m asl. We had several different dishes and we were always satisfied. The wedding here would be a dream!

What an amazing little find for a lunch break at the top of the Hohe Mut lift. Service was very friendly and amazingly quick! The food was absolute amazing quality and only topped by the breath-taking views from the balcony. I will return for sure when skiing in Obergurgl.
