A huge unique historical site to visit. We loved exploring all the caves with the children and imagining what life would have been like when it was in use. It could have been better to have some explanations on the signs.

beautiful and unique place! The old city carved into the wall is absolutely stunning, full of charm and history. The views from the top are breathtaking, and the atmosphere feels peaceful and authentic. There’s also an option for wine tasting for an extra 5 lari — totally worth it! The staff were friendly and spoke English, which made everything easy to navigate. I came here 7 months pregnant, and while the walk up was a bit challenging, it was definitely worth the effort. Highly recommend visiting!

This beautiful old cave town is an incredible place to visit. The massive rocks look stunning, especially with the autumn trees providing color, but be warned: the climbing is hard and slippery.

If you're visiting Tbilisi, you can come to Uplistsikhe on a day trip. Most people spend around an hour here before moving on to another place, but you can easily stay here for half a day and have lunch at the foot of the hills. Uplistsikhe is spectacular and must be enjoyed slowly and hopefully without the big tourist hordes. Most organized tourist tours arrive around lunchtime. If you don't want the lunchtime hordes, come in the early morning or the late afternoon.

Very interesting ancient town carved into the rocks of Georgia. Incredible how big and well maintaned it is. Fascinating visit and some amazing views.

Originally only a short stop turned out longer. The cave town is bigger than expected, lot to see and discover. Beautiful views from the top. Worth the extra time spent there!

Clean and cozy atmosphere. The service was attentive and friendly. While the cakes were beautifully presented, they were a tad too sweet for my taste.

Such a lovely place! We came for a drink and decided to stay for dinner. The menu is extensive and also has vegetarian options. I really enjoyed the bean stew with brine vegetables. The aubergine and peppers with walnuts were also delicious. The side of fries was very big and can definitely be shared with multiple people. The cafe has lovely seating area inside and semi inside. Service was fast, the staff very friendly and helpful.

If I could give them zero I would! The coffee was watery, the iced Americano and latte had no ice, even though we specifically asked for it and the service was sour and rude. We asked for the ice 3 times and it never arrived. We were the only customers mind you. When we asked for the bill and pulled out our credit card, there was a firm NO CARD....until we found the card machine on the table. I just don't understand how you could enter the hospitality industry and have such contempt for customers!

Wew ere waiting for 50 minutes for 1 salad and 2 hot dishes. Waiter was rude. They brought salad even after hot dish. And bank terminal did not work. They have a table for not less than 3 people, wthere were 2 of us so they did not let us sit there, so we had to sit to another. But the cafe was empty, nobody was sitting there. Do not come here, service is bad, food is midding, not tasty

The food was okay, not extremely delicious like what people said here. It is conveniently located in front of the Stalin museum so it’s naturally a place for tourists. What is far from acceptable is their so called service (plus they charge 10% service fee). They don’t have a multiple dishes that we would like to order, that’s fine. So we wanted to add more “dumplings”. The guy looked at us with surprise. He then asked the female waitress, he turned to us and said it will take longer and we said OK. So our first “dumplings” arrived and we waited for like 15 mins for another batch to arrive. I suspected they didn’t even place the order so I went up and asked. The waitress like was “no”. No what? And you don’t even tell your customers that the order was not placed. You just said it will take longer. Could have just told us not possible. And what if we really wanted the dumplings? Completely ridiculous. Also, they just randomly gave you “lemonade”. It’s just random soda. It’s not even lemonade. If you do not want to serve people then just make it self-serve. Don’t even try to charge service fee because there is none.

The food was OK, until I found a nice, long, curly hair in my soup. Service was OK, until the server wanted us to pay for the food that we couldn't eat, after realising the poor hygiene standard(s) at this restaurant. Needles to say, they didn't looked surprised when I told the server about the hair in the food. Almost felt as it is normal for them.

We visited this restaurant next to the Stalin Museum for lunch. Unfortunately, there were three intoxicated customers who were shouting loudly, breaking glasses and plates, and completely ruining the atmosphere. What was even more disappointing was that the management did nothing to handle the situation and didn’t even call the police to have them removed. Although the food quality was relatively good, the overall dining experience was very unpleasant due to the disruptive environment and poor management.

Really delicious. Recommend the beans in a pot; big portion very cheap and tasty. The khinkahli were amazing with meat and 3 vegi options. Chachapuri also very tasty. Right next to the Stalin museum and very good prices. Recommend 100%

We found this restauran in Gori Georgia. The food taste was delicious, specially khinkali with meat. We've tested khinkali in almost each region in Georgia, but we must admit this one is the best. Perfect. But unfortunately the adjarian kachapuri wasn't Expected like this. Usually Georgian put only yolk on top of it, but this one, the put whole egg on top, and not cooked enough, so it made the kachapuri looks unattempting. Sorry. Its our opinion. I don't know about others. We ate khinkali, Pork BBQ, chicken BBQ, adjarian kachapuri and caesar salad.

The museum has a very pleasant atmosphere and a lot of potential. However, many of the photos and artifacts lacked complete or detailed descriptions, which made it difficult to fully appreciate their historical context. With some improvements in providing more thorough explanations, this place could easily become a truly professional and outstanding museum.

Museum is full of cool objects from Stalin’s life, however the organisation of the museum is not very easy to digest and there is not much english to read for the photos and descriptions. Plus the power went out towards the end of our tour so it was a little difficult to see some of the pictures. Overall, if you know a decent amount about Stalin and the Soviet Union then its worth a visit. Entry was 15 GEL so not too bad.

Very interesting museum. Birthplace of the Georgian man who became known to the world as Stalin. It is not a celebration of his life as many could expect, it does also criticise its controversial legacy. Many interesting artifacts including the bullet-proof trained Stalin used to travel around, including to the Yalta conference of 1945.

This museum, located in Stalin's hometown, is entirely dedicated to telling the story of the communist leader. The main collection is housed in an imposing palace of Stalinist Gothic architecture and is filled with photos, documents, gifts he received, and personal items. A guided tour is highly recommended, as the context provided by the guide changes the perception of the visit, since the exhibition itself can feel like a glorification of his figure, without much critical space. In the outdoor area, you can visit the original house where Stalin lived during his childhood. It is a very small wooden cabin, which is now protected by a large stone structure, almost like a temple. Admission to the museum is paid, and they accept card payments.

It was ok. Lots of old pictures of Stalin, a little bit about the Gulags and some personal belongings. Glad to have been, would not go back again. Most descriptions in Russia and Georgian. Free wifi. We were able to leave our suitcase at security which was nice. The building itself was architecturally interesting. His old house is being renovated so it fences off. The train carriage was my personal highlight.

This is a well kept nice historical place. You can know the era much better. The park is very nice, Stalin's house is very authentic and the vagon is well maintained. The museum is very rich it is well worth a visit.

There is a museum dedicated to Stalin as he was born in Gori. I did not enter the museum instead spent some time in the garden and the main square about 100 metres from the museum. There is a world war time train made as a museum that is accessible with the museum ticket. The large hallway of the museum is something caught my attention and I clicked some pictures of it. The park is so beautiful and next to the Stalin Museum. Gori is well planned and so green city. Unfortunately, we missed close time of the Stalin Museum, so did not see inside of the museum. However, we saw Stalin's train car, his statue and his house.

Stalin Park is located in front of the Joseph Stalin Museum in Gori, Georgia. This park is not only beautiful but also historically significant. There's a small house in the park where Joseph Stalin lived until he was 16 years old, before moving to Tiflis (now Tbilisi) for theological studies. The house and the museum provide a fascinating glimpse into the early life of Stalin. If you're in Gori, this park and museum are definitely worth a visit for a dose of history amidst a pleasant setting.

Nice museum. But people there responsible are not friendly at all! Unlike the printing place of Stalin in Tbilisi. It’s good to pass by, doesn’t take much time.

This is one of those dichotomies in life. Probably one of the most evil men in the 20th century. This is his birthplace home also connected to a museum which I didn’t go in. There’s also a rail car that he used to terrorize the world. When we were there the house was not open for a tour and I don’t know if you can go inside or not.

If I could give zero stars, I would. This was hands down one of the worst breakfast experiences I’ve ever had. We ordered two omelettes with ham, french toast, two pancakes with fruit, and drinks (teas and coffees with ice cream). Right away, we were told they don’t serve cappuccinos because they don’t even have proper coffee — only cheap instant coffee. That should’ve been the first red flag. After waiting far too long, the omelettes and french toast finally showed up. The omelettes were just okay, but the ham was strange and tasted unpleasant. The french toast was a complete disaster: made with terrible bread, hard, chewy, and simply inedible. The tea was just a basic teabag in hot water, nothing special at all. We kept waiting for the pancakes, but after 45 minutes they brought us uncooked waffles we never ordered. When we pointed out we had asked for pancakes, they casually told us they didn’t have the ingredients for them. Instead of apologizing, they still charged us for the waffles we never ordered. To top it all off, they slapped on a 10% service charge, even though the service was practically nonexistent. Between the long wait times, bad food, lack of basic menu items, incorrect orders, and being charged for things we didn’t order, this place is absolutely unacceptable. Avoid at all costs.

The meat is overcooked, bbq meat has nothing more except meat on the plate. Kharcho was worst in the whole Georgia, chicken soup average. Khinkali, dough was too thin, so after picking it up it couldn't handle the meat.

We came there for breakfast, attracted by good rating of this place on Google maps. Absolute scam!!! First of all the food took eternity to arrive, around 40 minutes for a breakfast dish. The food that arrived tasted awfully, "French toast" was just an old not bitable bread. The coffee was instant coffee with an awful taste, although it costed like a good cup of coffee in this city. On top of that 2 dishes and one coffee did not arrive within an hour. Then arrived a dish that we didn't order, when I pointed it out and asked if the correct dishes were being cooked, I was told "no". Then we asked for a check and found out that they included there the dish that wasn't ordered. On top of that they also included 10% service tip. There was no service whatsoever, the waiter took our order wrong, it took eternity to prepare basically only half of it, and we were misscharged. Never returning there ever again. Stay away from this place!!!!

Great food very helpful people, traditions tasty dishes

I'm not sure if all previous reviews were based on the fact people ate on the terrace or not. By the time you stay inside, the experience is definitely changing a lot, and eating in small compartments sounds like having a secret lunch where you want to hide from the neighbor. Taking the atmosphere out of the equation, the type of lunch I had is definitely a canteen style and not a restaurant style. No garnish on the table, no clothes... Like in a canteen or in a pub. Service was quite fast, but there was almost nobody. But, as usual, the food was brought in an unordered manner, as soon as it was ready leaving me eating while my wife remained watching and vice versa. The taste was ok, but the famous Cutlets with mashed potatoes is nothing to be proud of. Spicy, soaked in oil and the mashed potatoes was very dry. New potatoes used for roasting, boiled sausages were extremely fatty. The only thing I appreciated was the Kharcho, the soup.

Worst service I have ever encountered. The service is done by teenagers who seem extremely bored to serve you. Some look high and others are agressive when they come to serve you. The table next to us had the same service and asked the waiter if he was ok, due to the lack of the quality of the service... Moreover, the plates came each with 20 minutes intervals so we didn't have the opportunity to share our meal together. The food is not bad but the service is so trash that I would definitely not recommend you to go to this "restaurant", if we can call it a restaurant.

Great food, good service very reasonable price. English menu and English speaking waiters made ordering easy. Large terrace on second level has a view and even blankets if you get cool. As I know no beers from Georgia I asked to taste pale ale and they happily gave me two to sample. Nice cold beer on tap. I would go back. The eggplant with walnut and borji ( red bean soup- ask, it is not on the menu) were very good.

Location is excellent. Rooms are decent, but lack of a fridge or a bar is very noticeable in hot summer. Pool is a bonus. Food in the restaurant is actually very good, but breakfast time had to be individually prearranged every day, which was quite inconvenient. No complaints about service.

Very rude staff. Our first experience upon entering the bathroom was the unflushed toilet of the previous guest (I won't go into details, but it was BAD). We called the reception for help, and they hung up after telling us they'd send someone over. No one came for about an hour or so. We had to call them again, and the manager came after another half an hour to "check the toilet". However, once he actually came, he refused to even go into the bathroom and told us that we'd get another room. Since we already had a bad "first impression", we politely asked the manager if he'd at least check the bathroom of the new room, which he refused. Because of our heavy luggage, we decided to stay in our room and asked for the cleaning staff to come by. Surprise, surprise, they didn't have any at that moment (it was 4pm). In the end, we had to scrub the toilet ourselves. The only good thing about this hotel was the location. That is, if you're a huge fan of Stalin (his museum is quite literally next-door). Wouldn't come here again.

We requested a Large queen bed , but they gave us 2 single beds connected together but it was moving and uncomfortable Also We wanted to use the pool, but we saw many local people are coming to use the swimming pool,

The hotel is actually in a nice location, but the there were just too many problems. On arrival we received the wrong room, the staff at reception doesn't make you feel welcome at all, the music during the night, leaking air conditioning and so on...

Great Place to hang out in Gori. Big portions of food at an affordable price. Ordered Cutler with Potato Pasta, Pork Ojakhuri, 1 Bread and 1 L of Natural Juice, in total only 50 Lari, what a great price. Cutlet is amazing, juicy and savoury. Pork Ojakhuri is big in portion, just too much potato compared to meat, but still delicious. Bread is freshly made per order, comes in hot and moist, the only one I found during my trip in Georgia that serves hot bread. Overall, it's a great decision to choose Black star restaurant for our lunch. The Waiter is friendly and helpful giving us recommendations and service.

⭐ 1 Star This was, without exaggeration, the worst burger I’ve had in over a decade. The bun was practically inedible (see video), and the overall experience left me questioning reality for a moment. I actually had to go get a “redemption burger” later that evening at another place — just to confirm that the art of making a decent burger still exists.

Very hit and miss. Ordered 3 dishes. One was great (mushroom with Georgian cheese), one was unseasoned (salad), the other too salty (soup). Place was totally empty except us. Service was friendly but a bit aloof. They tried to put music on the TV but it kept failing, so they gave up in the end.

Very friendly staff, English is very good. Nice place a bit off the busy part, outside sitting has atmosphere. Dishes are simple but good and great value.

The environment is nice, but it's a bit salty.

The ambience and location was really good. It's very close to the Uplistsikhe Cave and therefore ideal for lunch before/after your visit to the caves. Chicken Salad and Pelmeni were amazing. Ojakhuri and barbeque (chicken and pork) were good. Kebab and kharcho soup could improve. The host (Helen) was very friendly and treated us really well, so did the other staffs.

We had tasted many of chicken salad in many restaurant in Georgia but this place has the BEST CHICKEN SALAD. Please try, you won't regret. The waiter are teenagers with a good hospitality and personality.

Food was ok, but nothing special. The waiters repeatedly left the garden door open (because they are lazy to close it every time they go through) so every time it slammed in the wind, very annoying. The order of brought food was random - first a soup, then one main, then another soup, then another main, and the starter in the end. Finally, they pressured us to leave a review in Google with 5 stars, not cool.

🪜 Many steps to get to the top. Very unassuming entrance. We parked just at the bottom of the rampart. It was evening time at 6:30pm⌚ so we parked quite easily. 🇬🇪Once you climb to the top, there's no room or any such thing. It's an open space with flat ground, grass and 5 talk flagstaffs with Georgian flags on them. 🏔️ There's excellent views of the city and snow capped mountains in the distance. They can be seen on both sides of the fort. There is also a heavy duty fixed, dual eyed telescope to see the objects. 👎 🐕 🐕 There were 2 dogs at the top who seemed to be barking at any random person that came there. Scary. Showing teeth and everything. Didn't really bite anyone though. So just gotta be careful of them. Eventually they got fed up and went back to laze.

The view is breathtaking from the top, apart from that nothing much to see, the fortress is in poor conditions. There were a guy (guard? didn't look like one) with two stray dogs, but they were sleeping in the shadow, probably too tired by the scorching sun to bark (I came around 2 pm in summer). The statues near the hill are much more impressive and worth a visit.

The Gori Fortress is a semi-abandoned site that doesn’t offer much to see in terms of preserved structures or exhibitions, but it’s still worth a visit for the panoramic views of the city. Climbing up to the top gives you a great perspective over Gori and the surrounding landscape, making it a nice spot for a short stop while exploring the area. There is no entrance fee, and usually, a security guard with a couple of dogs can be found at the top. While the fortress itself may not have much left to explore, the views alone make it a worthwhile detour if you’re in Gori.

Nice view from the top of the fortress, which is just a short walk from the town center, but apart from that there is not much to see. Its free to enter

BEWARE OF ATTACK DOGS! How strange for the police to situate two German Shepherd attack/guard dogs at a tourist site like this. This is unique to this place. It does have great views and is well preserved, but one of the dogs actually nibbled my leg when I walked by and the police man on guard spoke no English. Please allow tourists to be free of dog bites at tourist sites.

I love castles but really not a lot to see with this one. The views of it from a distance are more impressive. Inside is simply an open space that shows just how much of the wall has been cheaply rebuilt

Small gallery with one show room that holds temporary exhibitions. Very nice staff explaining the art. They also provide maps of Gori and arty postcards. Keep up the work!

I recently had the privilege of visiting an exhibition in Gori ArtHouse Gallery. What truly struck me was how the artists, Guram Tsibakashvili and Sandro Pachuashvili, reimagined the Soviet legacy through a contemporary lens. Their ingenious use of visual language breathed new life into existing images of Soviet icons, creating a striking fusion of mixed media and pop art.

I brought a group of American students here to see a new side of Gori than the “dark tourism” narrative of Stalin’s birthplace. After looking at the wonderful show of collages by Guram Tsibakhashvili and Sandro Pachuashvili, we took in a short presentation by Ana about the space’s larger program and goals. It is so inspiring to see such initiatives in smaller communities anywhere in the world. Please come and check out their work!

Really nice art space, very interesting themes about Georgians recent and not so recent history. Highly recommended.

Really unique place, different from the others. Also showing different perspective of city. Most inspiring are incredible people who create it and how they did it! Their passion and effort put into it are amazing. Definitely worth to visit and discover the truly inspiring idea behind Art House! I love this concept! Valuable experience, restoring faith in people of art! We need more places like this!

Gori Art House is a beautiful soviet era building that was saved from disrepair and turned into a special space of expression. These exhibitions that inhabit this building are quite striking. Definitely visit here if you are in Gori. It's even worth taking a detour. Lovely people and definitely go say hi and meet these creative minds.

This gallery is well worth a visit. An enthusiastic and young generation in Gori trying to expand what the city has to offer beyond Stalin. You can see the dedication and hard work and love that was put i to this interesting gallery showcasing changing artists. Don’t miss this even on a Gori day trip!

It would be a lot better to increase the price a bit and add more chicken at the same time, otherwise it should just be called "lettuce salad with a hint of chicken" :/ -Squatting toilet -Only 1 toilet -Tom yam soup doesn't traditionally have noodles, but this soup did have them. I have been to this place several times and enjoyed it every time. Their chicken rolls are delicious, and cheeseburgers are great. The crepe dessert is outstanding. They have enough space for a medium-size group of people. Overall, it is one of the nicest places in Gori with great service. However, I would recommend improving the bathroom.

Disrespectful and unprofessional. We waited for 2 drinks, a crepe and a piece of cake 40 minutes and only got it after reminding the staff twice. After that, they had the audacity to ask for a tip, even though a service fee was already added to the bill. Not a good example of the Georgian hospitality.

Rather slow service, food was okay. We had a salad, a soup and a Belgian waffle with coffee. It took a while until the food arrived, and by the time the waffle arrived we already finished our coffee. Except for the waffle that was notable, the food was fine but not remarkable. The inside of the place is quite dark which makes it feel a bit grim.

Very cozy place with a really good selection of non-alcoholic drinks. The lemonades and milkshakes are very good and I drank the best coffee I had in Georgia here.

The food was okay , nothing extraordinary. The young guy working there was super nice and the music playlist was great.

Had a pretty disappointing experience. The restaurant was completely empty, yet after ordering a simple pizza, I ended up waiting for an hour before finally giving up and leaving because I had other plans. To make things worse, the waitress didn’t speak a word of English, which was surprising considering she looked quite young. Overall, terrible service, and I definitely wouldn’t recommend it.

Costs 5 lari for tourists and 3 for locals. The museum isn’t really a museum. It’s a gallery mostly because there are tons of pictures hung and a lot of long texts. There are very few actual historical items. There are not much actual physical objects that tell the history but just printed images. The lady also kept following us and randomly saying something that is already written clearly what it is. I understand the enthusiasm but might simply ask if we need any guidance instead of randomly interfering. She would come and go and randomly pop in and say the exact same thing that is written on the wall in 3 languages that I already know.

I have not attended any plays in the theatre, but the building looks great even if in a bad shape. The park around it adds a great vibe. I wonder why Gori does not try to make a tourist attraction from the theatre? Tbilisi is known form being a poor place for seeing traditional gorigian dances etc. Why not to put on display regular performances of such sort in Gori? It is not far from Tibilisi etc.

Giorgi Eristavi Gori State Drama Theater is a theater with deep traditions. Many outstanding actresses were cast on its stage.

I am literally shocked this place has high reviews. It’s horribly overpriced for the poor quality of food, and it’s nowhere near authentic Asian cuisine. The rice was wrong, the dishes were poorly made, and the soy sauce was watery. A portion of Unagi rolls costs 40 lari, which is insane! We ordered a poke bowl, rice with seafood, and unagi rolls, spending 104 lari on a takeaway order. Both the bowl and the rice with seafood went straight to the trash. We were traveling through Gori to Batumi and stopped here because the interior looked nice (still giving 3 stars as though the interior indeed was nice, the staff really wasn't), assuming it meant good quality. Instead of focusing on not letting customers with well-behaved mid-size dogs stepping in even for asking a few questions about the order process, they should pay more attention to the kitchen. For the asking price, this was one of the worst food experiences I’ve had. The rolls were okay but should be half the price. For 40 lari, I can get much better options in great places across Tbilisi and Batumi. The poke bowl was tasteless, and the rice with seafood was mostly cheap rice with vegetables and a tiny portion of mussels. The seasoning was just soy sauce, making everything tasteless and salty. Horrible. Just horrible. We stopped on a highway to buy cheap fried pies with potato for 2 lari each - even those were way better... Avoid this place if you value your money and taste buds.

Frustrating. Cold Khinkhali was served for eating. Kidding me?; Tasty or not, it is not a problem. At least it should be edible, cooked before served. Our first meal on our Georgia roadtrip was here and it was lovely. Flavourful khinkali and lobio!

Really nice place that we tried on a recommendation from a travel blogger. Atmosphere - we were the only ones there and I think this was because we came out of season so the atmosphere was hard to gauge, however, I think it would have a really good atmosphere when busier at normal times. Food - we ordered quote simple dishes but wasn’t particularly impressed. The Caesar salad was a huge portion and not great whilst the kids margarita pizza was cooked on top but not enough on the base so didn’t go down well with them.

Wonderful food and kind service - the young people who are working there are super attentive, kind and speak very good English. I had a regular and the mushroom dumpling and a appetiser platter (I literally can’t remember the names in Georgian) - all super tasty. It’s possible to pay with cards and 15% service charge is automatically added to the bill, which is absolutely fine with me. My local host recommended this restaurant and it didn’t disappoint.

Not sure if they didnt like non locals visit thier restaurant or if its lack of staff. This was text book example of how not to serve customer. We were easily the largest tab for the night, but the service was way below par...forever delayed..no responses to requests. Starter that came in as the last dish served.. Ambience and live music was good indeed. But they need to scale up on service to be on par..

Great looking place but food is average (pizza with sugary ketchup base, watery risotto), but the main complaint is what many other people have mentioned, the service. A really poignant memorial and the best thing to see in Gori. Beautifully made and subtlety representing the horrors of war. For some reason its hidden behind a church. This monument really deserves a better location.

A bonus place to visit after explaining the Gori Fortress. It’s just off the path which leads up to the Fortress.

It looks really unforgettable. Such strong and ingenious message. Check every statue and have a look at the from the fortress. It would be nice if that place was cleaned a bot more often, but this doesn't disturb you from spectating these monuments.

Museum is located very close to the Stalin Museum, in the city center. It has a rich collection of local history from I millennium BC to XX century which contains archeological, numismatic, ethnographic, works of applied and fine arts, Georgian and Arabic epigraphic monuments, manuscripts and first-published books, documents , deepcharters, photo-archive, scientific library and periodicals. I recommend paying attention to important items such as Oxes III millennium BC, Buck for ritual drinking I millennium BC, males figures, A hearth for lighting a fire, bone pipe and many more. You should look through the richest numismatic collection in the Munzcabinet of the Museum.

Cool little gem of Gori. Not the biggest of museums but with a well prioritized collection from this historically important region. Add to this the best English-speaking and most enthusiastic guide I've yet had the pleasure of meeting in Georgia - perhaps anywhere outside of anglo-countries. Was a truly nice experience.

Gori is a small city, have some humble restaurants but this one was a pretty good one. Food came decently fast, it was decently busy the meat bbq was on point, great Saperavi wine as well.

🚨 Tourist Trap Alert – Beware of This Restaurant in Gori, Georgia 🚨 Our family joined a Georgia tour with MLS Travel, and this restaurant was recommended by the local Georgian tour guide, George. What was supposed to be a grand and private dining experience in the wine cellar turned into one of the worst and most disrespectful dining experiences we’ve ever had abroad. When we arrived, three dishes were already placed on the table — covered with flies. We were shocked. There were no staff in sight, and since it was a large group of 20 people, some had already started eating before realizing the situation. When we finally reached the waitress and restaurant manager, we politely raised our concern and showed them photos of the flies on the food and flying around the table. Instead of showing any sense of accountability, they dismissed our evidence, claiming that the photos “didn’t show any flies.” This was despite multiple witnesses, including their own staff, seeing the flies and us having to cover the dishes with tissue paper just to continue eating safely under such unsanitary conditions. Their excuse? “The window was open, that’s why there are flies.” No apology. No replacement. No concern for food hygiene. We only stayed because it was already 8:00 PM, and it was impossible to find another restaurant nearby that could accommodate a group of 20 at that hour. We simply had no choice but to fill our stomachs and leave as soon as possible. To make matters worse, when our tour leader later requested a partial refund due to hygiene concerns and risk of food poisoning, the restaurant threatened to call the police if the full bill wasn’t paid. This was nothing short of bullying and intimidation toward paying tourists. This experience was utterly disgraceful — not only because of the unhygienic food, but because of the rude, defensive, and unprofessional behavior of the staff and management. We left the restaurant deeply disappointed and appalled — not by Georgian culture, but by this particular establishment’s complete disregard for basic hospitality, cleanliness, and respect for customers. If you’re visiting Gori, Georgia, please avoid this restaurant at all costs. Don’t fall into the same tourist trap we did. There are far better and more authentic Georgian dining experiences — this place is not one of them.

The location of this restaurant is truly amazing, situated right beside a beautiful river, providing a serene and picturesque setting. There is ample parking available on-site, which is very convenient, and the overall atmosphere is quite family-friendly. However, while the food selection is diverse and the prices are attractive, I personally rated the food quality itself as a 3 out of 5, as I've had meals at some other restaurants that featured higher quality ingredients and more flavorful preparations.

Anna is doing her best to give the guests a great experience. We came with 2 motorbikes and were even allowed to park them inside! In our case this was perfect as in the night a huge thunderstorm passed over Gori. The rain was so strong that the water was flowing through the lower level of the house. It also made it impossible for us to go to town to have some dinner. Thankfully Anna prepared us a quick meal and even gave us a bottle of Georgian white wine. The house is quite large and it is well kept. We were also very happy that Anna could wash our clothes. We had breakfast with the other residents. It was great to have a chat with the other travellers. All in all a very pleasant experience! Specially also for a biker like me.

We stopped for lunch when travelling through Gori. The food was ok. The service was slightly slow as our Khinkali order had to be cancelled since the waiter forgot while we kept waiting. The atmosphere is nice on the rooftop. The kebab was good.

I don't recommend it. I ordered among other things, mushroom soup it was full of oil. The other traditional dishes were just tasting coriander. The salad was big pieces without any dressing or mixing. It was also not cheap.

I do not recommend taking a minibus to Uplistsikhe settlement from Gori bus station, it stops everywhere around the city, then runs through two villages and gets back to Gori, last departure from Gori is around 17:30. You will have to walk along the highway to get to the museum and the settlement. If you miss the last minibus, go to Kvakhvreli train station and take a train either to Gori or Tbilisi. The train to Tbilisi passes around 19:15, train to Gori - 20:00.

Bit confusing but there are helpful marshrutka drivers (they seem grumpy but realy helpful). Btw. Marschrutka to Uplistsikhe is on station 13 (arrived at 11.20).

LAST MARSHURTKA TO TBILISI LEAVES AT 17:50. If you miss it, go the the palace of justice and grab a shared minivan for 7 GEL, and also to get there grab any bus in front of the station (1.5 GEL).

There is nothing except creepy wc And how dare you remove Monument of Stalin. Stalin is only reason why someone is visiting gori. Train gori tbilisi costs 2 gel. You can always call 1331 railway hotline for hours of train work.

I took a train from Gori to Kutaisi, it takes almost 5 hours, cost 8 lari. Train is really old, goes really slow, no air conditioning, there’s a toilet but I didn’t risk to use it... There are seats with just a wall instead of a window, so almost 5 hours of no views in a hot train is not worth it... (picture with my hand and “amazing” views is attached)... If I knew its going to be so uncomfortable I would take marshrutka (mini bus) instead, it takes only 2 hours. Train stops for 10 minutes between Gori and Kitaisi, there is time to buy a water and snacks. Very limited space in a train, people travel even with bicycles and children’s carriages, huge suitcases, this train barely can fit all this.

Quiet and super clean but NO FOOD OR COFFEE! There is a shop across the street but no coffee there either.

The church at Gori Jvari stands on a outcropping of rocks and can be seen from practically anywhere in Gori. Originally built in the 12th century, it was burned down by the Turks, rebuilt, and destroyed again by an earthquake in 1920. The current church was built in the 1980s.

Walked to the church from Gori only to find they were killing sheep and chickens here. Not nice. Do not recommend.

We drove up at 10am on a Friday and the place was closed so we had the place to ourselves. Panorama view to the high peaks in the distance and a good view of Gori below.

We came to eat at the restaurant and had a wonderful time. The guest room is very cozy and the food truly excellent, the best we had on our trip through Georgia. I would highly recommend the badrijani, but every dish we had was great. The waitress was very kind and helpful. I would definitely come back here!

Blissfully tasty and subtly different than standard restaurant fare. Tried different dishes. Everything was excellent. But the signature dish, was outstanding. Would highly recommend to anyone. The entrance may not look very ornate and inviting but walk in and you'd love the decor and great Georgian home cooked food.

We tried mussles, salmon steak and calmari rings - excellent. The portions are bigger than expected. There is also a shop (in fact two shops): one sells fresh fish which is caught, weighed and cleaned on the place. In the other shop you will find caviar, and varios kinds of smoked fish, etc.

He and his wife prepare a delicious dinner for us, accompanied by several kinds of local wine. The breakfast was excellent. Ifyou couldn’t finish, Gogi happily packed it for takeaway. We had a lovely experience. This is a family winery besides a guest house and we strongly recommend you to do the wine degustation. The wine is really special and in very limited editions. The family is handling the process meticulously and with lots of attention. The owner Tengo speaks very well English and Italian and he really takes time to explain the story of the wine production they do. We stayed there one night, the place is quiet, peaceful, clean and has a view to their lovely yard. They offer also very nice Georgian breakfast with house produced honey. The place is also close to the historical landmark Uplistsikhe and if you are planning a trip there, we strongly recommend you to stay at this family home 💗

Gogi is the perfect host. He invited us for wine tasting, then added some bread and cheese to the table, and wouldn’t accept any money for it. He said it was a surprise :) Room is small, but very clean. Breakfast was simple and delicious. We loved our stay and strongly recommend this place.

It was not just about wine, but also about feeling the warmth of true Georgian hospitality. Our 4-year-old son had an amazing time as well, playing with Mr. Gogi’s nephew who is about the same age. It was a lovely glimpse into authentic Georgian village life, full of warmth and joy. The wine cellar itself is clean, friendly, and filled with a great aura. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone, no matter your age. Visiting Gogi Dvalishvili Wine Cellar is not just about tasting excellent 100% natural Georgian wines, but about sharing the spirit of a remarkable family and culture.
