Blair Castle

Castle
Blair Castle is a must-visit, offering a museum-like experience that delves into the history of the area and the clans that inhabited it from the 1200s to today. The castle boasts 30 rooms filled with incredible artifacts and features, though visitors with mobility issues should call ahead due to numerous stairs. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and eager to assist.
Very interesting castle. You can get guided tours, but we chose to wander round ourselves. The layout is very easy to follow and each room has information in various languages so that you know what you're looking at. The walled garden is beautiful and the forest is very tranquil. Restaurant has limited food choices as you would expect but everything was delicious.

Blair Castle is magnificent! The historical tour is fascinating, taking you through centuries of Scottish history. The beautiful gardens and grounds, including Hercules Garden, are a joy to explore. A truly grand and memorable experience in a stunning setting.
William F — Google review
Stunning castle. Great historical information as well as well preserved artifacts. The craftsmanship of the times was unprecedented. The grounds are gorgeous. And the piper was so talented. Enjoyed the old church, the highland coos, and the stags. As well as the lunch we had on the grounds. Thank you.
Sophie S — Google review
Stunning castle. Absolutely worth a visit. If we had half a day we would have stayed longer. A great example of a castle with aot of furnishings and beautiful grounds to explore.

Nothing captures the bizarre relationship of land, royalty and ownership and the historical relationship between Scotland and England than a castle. (Dear antlers?) And this one is a great example with well done curation and self guidance tools.
Mike B — Google review
This is the best non-medieval castle we have ever seen. Mostly dating from the 1700s through today, built by the wealth of the Dukes of Althole. 18 pounds per senior, but worth it.
Tom V — Google review
A lot of castle for your money, both inside and out. Very interesting displays in the 30 rooms you can visit. You can also spend a lot of time strolling through the garden or the woods, or with your kids at the playground on the edge of the woods.
Daniel C — Google review
Fantastic place to visit, stunning castle with piper, pleasant staff, restaurant and toilets, disabled parking, walks around the gardens , sculpture walk, highland cattle, deer, gift shop, all together a great day out .

The Defender Blair Castle International Horse Trials is an annual equestrian event held at Blair Castle in August. The four-day event features a mix of equestrian sports, with both Olympic medallists and amateurs competing. In addition to the competitions, there are also falconry displays and quad-bike stunt riding. Visitors can enjoy shopping at various trade stands, sample food and drinks, and watch Land Rover Defenders in action.
Such an incredible event that is full of everything equestrian from grassroots to World and Olympic champions. Fantastic atmosphere and very friendly. Definitely not to be missed

Fantastic 4 days here Weather variable but did not matter. Excellent trade stands some very local artists too Great food choice at sensible prices Lots of Land Rover Defenders brilliant to see them in action Will go again next year. Whole event was a credit to the organisers.

Love Blair atholl horse trials! Loads of shopping, not many good offers though. Lots to see and do, plenty samples of food and drinks. Very hot weather and a lot of food vans ran out of water. There needs to be some kind of refill station for water, it’s too expensive and not enough on offer. It’s run really well, plenty stewards for parking and directions. A board showing where all the different shops were would have been appreciated though. I’ll definitely be back next year though!
Alison R — Google review
We go every year however this year just didn't seem as organised and the constant cars driving round made it very awkward for the visitors as the cars had no consideration for people watching the cross country. Definitely didn't have the same vibe this year.

Very enjoyable. Lots to see and do. Lots and lots of trade stands and plenty of street food stalls. Also a good food hall with interesting local.produce to buy. Plenty of horse events to watch.

Mark B — Google review
This is a castle not built merely for war, but for a higher purpose. Its walls remember how justice was once something worth defending, how men carried the idea of protection not out of hunger for power, but out of a yearning for the perfection the soul seeks. It is a shadow of the ideal city, this time fortified with swords and hearts. In all things here, there is purpose — from the tall walls to the towers that once shielded it when the Jacobite wars raged, when this castle was the last bastion of loyalty. Stone here was never merely stone; it was a means to achieve the noblest of ends: survival and endurance. The people of this castle knew something we have long forgotten: virtue is not forged in cities alone but in places where man is forced to confront his fear and his need for wisdom. Perhaps their ancient question — “How do we endure war?” — was closer to philosophy than a thousand dialogues. When the castle was besieged during the Jacobite uprisings, it did not resist merely for the sake of kings but because the old Roman spirit still lived in the North. Patience, order, and restraint — all these existed behind these white walls. How many nights did this castle endure as the winds battered it, while within, people repeated their prayers in silence! Here, love for Blair was never about stones but about souls that refused to abandon it, despite exile or siege. This is the kind of love that knows no time. The history of this castle is the very essence of civilization’s cycle: from strength to stagnation, from siege to calm, and now to tourism and visitors. Yet it never lost the respect of its people; rather, the passing of empires only deepened its reverence. If you were to ask its people, “Why do you not tear it down and build anew?” they would answer: because when man loses his bond with nature and history, he loses everything. This castle is not stone; it is a living inheritance. Here, the beauty of nature and the patience of man met and made it a refuge against time, against invading armies once, and now against forgetfulness. And nature rewarded them with this peace that surrounds it. One marvels at a man who leaves his home by the river to build upon the hill such a castle, but now it is clear: it was never for him alone, but for generations yet to come — to remind them, “This is your place.” Even the silence here carries a thousand meanings. That this castle still stands after wars, betrayals, and the passing of eras is a testament to the will that few understand. It is a will that outlived everything, even the will of death itself. Within these walls, there is no excess luxury but the honest simplicity of people who loved their soil more than their mansions. They were farmers, warriors, nobles, and commoners, yet all saw in this place their home when life grew harsh. How beautiful to find a castle that once knew siege and hunger, now greeting visitors with the smile of its people. It is like the human spirit: it suffers, but it does not perish; rather, it grows kinder toward what remains. This castle is not merely a place; it is the manifestation of an idea — the idea of a nation that wished to say: “We are here,” despite fallen kingdoms and changing banners. Within its walls, one sees the struggle between thesis and antithesis until reconciliation with history was born. What irony! A castle that once resisted London’s forces now welcomes tourists from London, who take pictures and laugh beneath its towers. Thus history reconciles us with its own humor. What I have seen here affirms that certainty is not built by thought alone but sometimes by sword. That this castle still stands is tangible proof that an idea requires a wall to defend it. What beauty there is in this place, where a white horse walks before the castle, as if continuing the poets’ tales of chivalry. The river, the trees, the towers — all lines of poetry yet unwritten. This castle is worthy of a novel: within it lies love and betrayal, war and peace, long nights and warm hearths. It is not a story of stone but of

You get to explore quite a number of rooms (about 30) which is generous compared with some castles and you can take pictures. Excellent grounds and gardens. Great visit.

We were here on Easter Sunday, great place. Castle tour guides very helpful and knowledgeable, the mounted guns on the walls in the reception area is pretty cool. Plenty to do; play parks, farm, garden, forest, cafe...

We visited Blair Castle gardens and restaurant at the end of August. What a stunning place/location. The restaurant wasn't great, food reminded me of school dinners. As I follow a plant based diet, no choice except a stir fry that was definitely lacking in imagination!
Claire K — Google review
A great and stately home. The sense of history is palpable in every nook and cranny. The wealth of furniture and family heirlooms carefully preserved and displayed bring alive the people who lived there. One can almost feel their presence as they wrht about their daily life. The contribution of the Dukes of Atholl and all their descendents and family to Scotland's history is wonderfully portrayed.

Hercules Garden at Blair Castle

Park
The Hercules Garden at Blair Castle is a stunning feature of the estate, offering visitors a chance to explore beautiful grounds and gardens. The garden boasts impressive sculptures and tiny buildings that provide a glimpse into history. Despite the lack of colorful blooms in October, the sheer size and uniqueness of Diana's Grove are sure to leave visitors stunned. The well-maintained garden is not only visually appealing but also serves as a haven for wildlife, showcasing the gardener's dedication and care.
The Hercules Garden at Blair Castle is on top form, beautiful to view and a haven for wildlife. It is a credit to the gardener's care and attention.

Nice garden though it is hard to rate it in October. But I do it anyway as we were so impressed by Diana's Grove. Go visit that Forrest garden and get stunned. Not by colour but pure size and uniqueness.

Beautiful gardens and sculptures. Spent an afternoon in these gardens. Tiny buildings and a piece of history through the windows. Also apples and pears growing in abundance. Beautiful!

Karen W — Google review
Large garden area. Steep path to top beds. A bit drab because of the time of year. Could be spectacular in summer.
Gillian W — Google review
Not really worth paying lots of money to see but if you are visiting the castle anyway it is a lovely extra. The garden was established more recently than many famous gardens and so is still in the process of maturing. It has come a long way in the last 10 years but still lacks colour except in the height of summer.
Malcolm F — Google review
7£ a person for a castle garden that's not very big. A bit on the higher priced range in my opinion. It was well maintained though so nothing to complain there. What you see is what you get. I added pictures. The combination price of inside the castle now seemed more interesting. Since we came late we just went for the garden only. Felt like an expensive bathroom stop.

Fish and chips takeaway
Food In The Park is a popular spot in Blair Atholl known for its delicious fish and chips. Visitors rave about the fresh haddock with chunky flakes and the prioritization of quality and freshness in their ingredients. The staff are described as exceptionally lovely, setting a positive tone for the dining experience. While some find the menu on QR codes to be upscale, others appreciate the quick service and ample outdoor seating.
Wonderful welcoming wee chippie, beautiful surroundings, plus todaybthere way the skirt of thenpi0es on the breeze!! Delicious fresh cooked to order & generously portioned food!! Thank you!!

A chip standard fish and chip shop. Menu came on QR codes which is a bit boujee. The only downside was no gravy? Just wanted a pie supper but no gravy. Portions were good and filled us up. Nice and fresh as they cooked it whilst we waited, toilets nearby.
Katie P — Google review
A handy fish and chips/Pizza takeaway with all food cooked fresh to order so you will have to wait a few minutes or longer if theres an obvious queue. The best part is the bar that you can access through the chip shop. An area of decking that leads down to an open fronted bar with draught beers and ciders and plenty spirit and cocktail options. Seems to be a mix of visitors from the campsite as well as locals. We ordered and were given a number for our food. There are a few seats and tables at the front to wait and eat. The scenery is nice with the information centre adjacent and the river just about 50 yards from the door. A very relaxing place to chill and eat. I thought the fish was very good but could have had more chips for the price. Overall, I would definitely visit again should I return.

Absolutely superb service, great craic, brilliant beer and superb setting. Davie gave a lift “up the road” as it was heavy rain. Can’t beat that for hospitality! Recommend the pizza, chip steak and the fish…..plenty chips tae. 👍👍👍

We have been visiting this place for years as it's a gem of a place. Great chippy with the bonus of having an alcoholic(or non) in their bar if you are staying nearby.

A great place to take the weight off your feet whilst enjoying your freshly cooked food, I can recommend the fish & chips, a great choice of food is on the offering. Finish it off with a nice cool drink from the bar, good friendly staff & a friendly atmosphere.

Pizza was wafer thin for 15 pound the woman was standing on the phone having a conversation before he even took my order was waiting 10 minutes even tho it was just me. Overall just rude, not enough sauce on the pizza either, took ages but somehow still felt undercooked.
Cowatron 6 — Google review
Bought large chips for £4.60 large it was not! Mostly crispy bottom of the pan chips, I won’t be back I’ll just go along the road to the pub to get chips there for half the price and a bigger portion to share with the family Very disappointed

Blair Castle & Gardens, dating back to 1269, is a must-visit tourist attraction in Scotland. It serves as the seat of the Duke of Atholl and offers a glimpse into upper-class Highland life through its lavish rooms filled with antiques, art, and armor. The castle's turreted white structure holds historical significance as it was home to the powerful Murray clan and witnessed the Jacobite Rebellion of 1745.
One of the best castles we visited in Scotland — and my wife’s absolute favorite. From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, both at the parking area and the castle entrance, which set a great tone for the visit. The interior was spectacular, with beautifully decorated rooms full of intricate details. It truly felt like people were still living there — the presence of everyday household items added a unique, personal touch that made this castle stand out from all the others we toured. The experience was enhanced by a well-done audio guide that provided rich historical context about the castle and the family who lived there. To our delight, a piper played in front of the castle every full hour — an unexpected but wonderful bonus that added to the atmosphere. The gardens were also stunning and provided a peaceful and picturesque end to our visit. Overall, a fantastic experience that we highly recommend to anyone exploring Scotland’s castles.
Konstantin I — Google review
We had a fantastic experience at Blair Castle, the castle and gardens were all absolutely stunning and well maintained. The castle one way system really helped to see everything and it was well curated, each room highlighting a limited time period or individual family member. The gardens, especially the shady forest area, looked incredible on a blazing hot day. Walking under the massive trees to the sound of the piper was atmospheric to say the least. Well worth the price to help maintain this magnificent place.
Ollie F — Google review
I don’t know how we’ve missed this place on past trips. It’s incredible. We only did the grounds and could have easily spent a day just on the grounds. The tall trees are breathtaking. The garden was still interesting, even though it’s starting to head into dormancy. You truly need a few hours to really explore everything. There is a nice children’s play area too. We will definitely plan for a full day there on our next trip!
Margaret B — Google review
We went here for the Highland Games in May 2025. It was a fantastic venue. The crowds were awesome. The castle army is the only one left in the United Kingdom. They were amazing. Their band, uniforms, and professionalism were amazing. Beautiful castle with the Highland mountains surrounding it. It’s a beautiful place.

We very much enjoyed the Blair castle. It was a little bit of a walk from the parking lot to the castle but it was well worth it. The inside of the castle was completely furnished and had people in rooms that could tell you about its contents and the people that once lived there. The gardens were Immaculate and beautiful.

Blair castle is a lovely place, you self tour the castle. There is highland coo's, deer, adventure playground, cafe, toilets , plenty of parking, piper plays on the hour, deer feeding at 12:30 and 14:30, lots of walks , lovely gardens and sculpture trail , staff very helpful and pleasant .
Ray H — Google review
Came here with our English Bulldog to spend a nice afternoon. And indeed we did. The earliest known part of the present castle dates from 1269. In 1740 the 2nd Duke began his transformation of the medieval castle into a Georgian house. A remodel to the exterior of the castle happened in the 1860s/70s. Later on architects Jamie Troughton and Hugh Broughton constructed a new exhibition hall known as the Banvie Hall. And that's now how the Castle stands here until today. We did book the admission to the Park and Grounds online and saved some money. There were a good number of visitors, but no problem finding a parking space - there's plenty of it only a short stroll from the castle. Admission with 9.50£ was a very fair deal. We were just in time to listen to the bagpipes, which were played hourly (until a certain time). Very nice - we love bagpipes. And to sit there on the bench, listening and with the Blair Castle in the background was just a wonderful moment. Then we went to the Deer Park, watching the wildlife. Then through the woods and Diana's Grove. A nice trail through the forest, with some nice creeks and a beautiful little bridge. Then onto St. Bride's Kirk. From there to the Blair Castle Gardens. Then back again to the Castle. Suprisingly few visitors along the paths. Really wonderful grounds here. Nice walks - nice nature and landscape. The Castle is pretty and the park offers nice ways and paths to spend some hours here. Also of course a restaurant, a shop, a nice playground and toilets. We really had a great time here. Dogs allowed on the grounds was a great thing. A real good visit, well worth the fair-priced admission.

A beautiful castle with a rich history. The only thing I wish we did differently was spend more time to explore the grounds. I would recommend everyone to visit

We arrived on Wednesday at half past one in the afternoon, the opening hours indicated on the website, but we found it closed. Two nice ladies just closed the door laughing in front of us and did not give an explanation. We drove an hour and a half for this . It was a bad experience. We wanted to see the exhibition.

Just a little museum but worth a visit all the same, has a replica of a old post office, a room where you can see old farming equipment and another room where can learn about the blair atholl highlanders it's £5 for entry for a adult or £4 for a senior. Also there is a ice cream parlour near by that's sells ice creams and fish and chips.
Matthew P — Google review
Arrived Wednesday afternoon to find it closed. Although museum website says open till 5 every day the sign in window says times vary and closed some afternoons. Seems some days it shuts at 1pm or at 4pm. Very frustrating and disappointing. Reports suggest well worth a visit but not when doors locked!! If you plan to visit suggest you telephone to check first to see when open.

With some lovely help from Eric, the excellent staff member cum guide, we managed to keep a seven-year old engaged for a full hour! Blair Castle Caravan Park

4.6

Campground
Hiking area
RV park
Blair Castle Caravan Park is a riverside campground located conveniently off the scenic main A9 road between Perth and Thurso, making it an ideal base for exploring the central Highlands. The picturesque town of Pitlochry, known for its theater and salmon ladder, is just a short drive away. Additionally, there are several whisky distilleries offering guided tours and an upmarket shopping village within half an hour's drive.
A very well appointed and fairly large site with at least 4 shower blocks, an organic shop and cafe onsite and a games room with pool, fusball and pingpong available for a modest fee. As you turn off to enter the park you may be greeted by their Highland cow or Black Ram who live in the small genced fieldto the right. The reception staff were bright and welcoming and firected us to the camping area which is west of the main campsite through a row of large trees. The camping field is quite large and wooded round the outside. All of the pitches are huge, giving plenty space from your neighbours. The toilet block is a short stroll back into the main park area. There is a shared water spigot in the middle of the park. We used this to wash things and boil for tea/coffee with zero issues. Showers are clean and hot water plentiful. They are the dreaded 10 second push buttons though. There are washing up bays at each block too. During the opening hours you can use the entry road to the Castle to access the park as long as the ornate iron gates are open. There is a long treelined avenue leading to the visitor centre but you can quickly turn off to the left into the campsite or right to the caravan park.
In V — Google review
I stayed here on one of the backpacker pitches. It cost £14 for the night, for my small 2 person tent, which feels a bit steep price wise, given the area of the pitches. There are only two backpacker tent pitches and both of them are right next to a fenced off area that says “highly flammable” “no open flame” which isn’t the most comforting thing to see. One of the two backpacker pitches is also right next to some cleaning sinks. I’m pointing this out as it’s quite a shame as the grounds of the caravan park are beautiful and there is plenty of space to create a bigger and more appropriate backpacker tent pitch area. It just feels like backpackers are an afterthought and have been shoved off to the side. Other than that the facilities are well maintained and clean, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. You also get access to the Blair Castle gardens for free with your booking, which I thought was nice and made the price a little bit more worth it. I hope they expand the backpacker tent area and move it away from the area labelled “danger, highly flammable, no smoking, no naked lights”. This was really off putting and disappointing as I’m sure no one wants to see that when they open their tent door in the morning.

Brilliant site, spacious, green lots of mature trees. Facilities excellent, staff excellent. Shieling coffee bar is great and do lovely pizzas in the evening. Pitches spacious but some are a bit old and worn with thin layer of gravel and have water drainage which is higher than the pitch....hence the 4 stars.....would give it 5 for everything else. Lots of lovely walks for the doggo and a great little shop with a few essentials.....does amazing croissants and bread but only on 2 days a week....so you have to be quick! There is a beauty spa on site which is nothing to do with the park but is excellent Short walk to the village where there is a small shop a hotel with a pub and the watermill cafe which is excellent. Also you get free entry to the castle grounds which is lovely for walking and there is a nice restaurant there but not doggy friendly

A Luxurious caravan, campervan and chalet park. Friendly, welcoming and informative check-in. Generous discount entrance for the Blair castle and gardens. Very clean showers and washing facilities. Breakfast baps and pizza shed stationed around the campsite. A very well stocked shop of organic artisan foods and campsite essentials. We had electric hookup. WiFi is extra and have to pay for. Beautiful riverside wall alongside the campsite that leads to the village street with eateries and shops within walking distance.

Great site staff friendly and helpful Great fully serviced pitches. Good stocked shop plenty to do in local area including castle which you get discount with you booking. On arrival they give a plan of site which is marked for your pitch.

Well laid out and great size to cater for all types of stay, plenty space for kids to burn off energy and decent play area that they could easily put more pitches on. So hat's off for keeping this area. Plenty of walks and cycling routes close by, well worth a visit. Staff very friendly and toilets very very clean.

great large site, clean with nice views. good food over the road. Would stay again and free entry to the gardens
Matthew D — Google review
Great place right next to the river. There's a big rock you can climb and jump into the river from. Locally there's a shop just along from the campsite which is handy, there's a play park in the park and another one accross the road. There's a local chipper with live entertainment at the weekend, a nice tea room near the train station,a local bar/ hotel with a beer garden, and a brewery that serves pizza nearby. Everything you need is local to the campsite. Great place for a break. June 2025 update: We're just back from 3 nights at Blair Atholl, and some things have changed. There seems to be less kids equipment in the play area. The toilet block near the statics seems to be locked/closed, but there is a new communal tent which you can use for shelter from the sun or rain.

Mill
Blair Atholl Watermill, dating back to the 1590s, is among Scotland's oldest operational water mills and one of only eleven still in use. Visitors can observe the stoneground oatmeal and flours being produced for sale and for use in the on-site tea room, where they also serve light meals, teas, and coffees. The mill's tearoom is well-regarded for its delicious offerings.
Incredible hidden gem of a place! Great food, staff, and indoor and outdoor areas. They mill their own flour and bake all of the breads, cakes and croissants used in the Cafe, there is even freshly milled flour for sale. You can walk in and see the milling room and watch the mill working if you time it right. Beautiful place with great history and really affordable pricing. Highly recommend

What an absolutely lovely place! My husband and I made an impromptu stop here for a bite to eat and it ended up being a highlight on our trip to Scotland. The food was delicious and the garden was such a relaxing place to sit for a while. Our favorite bit was the mill tour and hearing about its history and how it works from Ally. He was so very kind, hospitable and didn't mind all our questions (thank you!!). We'll be hoping the drought disappears soon and the water starts flowing again!

Just wanted to say this was one of the best surprises we had over our holiday across Scotland. Popped in on a Sunday and enjoyed two amazing BLT's in their homemade rolls. All came with exceptional service and in such a lovely historic building. Was gutted we were leaving that morning, but so glad we popped in to experience it all. The working watermill adds so much to the atmosphere too. Don't miss out on this absolute gem of a place.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stop here. The watermill is functioning and the restaurant is cozy and cute. The staff was incredibly polite and the food was delicious. We would definitely come back.

What a little gem we found on our drive back to Edinburgh from the Highlands! It’s tucked away down a tiny street and has the loveliest garden where you can enjoy your drink and pastries. We also loved learning about the working Watermill. It was out of commission for a couple hundred years but restored in the 70’s. You can learn about its history and see it working! You can even purchase the flour produced by the mill. If you are in the area, you must stop at this idyllic little cafe with scrumptious scones and coffee.

First experienced watermill in 2024. So was desperate to come back. And can say was lovely. Mocha on point, carrot cake tastes so fresh considering it was in afternoon. Staff are so friendly and definitely ambassadors We definitely be coming again. Even though had a queue outside the door we were served very quickly and coffee's and cake brought to the table really quick

Wasted Degrees Brewing is a well-organized brewery that offers delicious baked pizza and a variety of high-quality draft beers. They also provide gift boxes featuring their own beer selection. The establishment has an eco-friendly policy, using compostable and recycled materials. The tap room is open from 1:00 pm to 9:30 pm, offering their beers on tap and homemade pizza. Although some visitors were disappointed with the plastic glasses, they praised the taste of the beers, especially the helles.
Never disappointed with a visit to Wasted Degrees on a Saturday for beer and pizza. We went for a lovely walk beforehand to build up an appetite. Took the train so we could enjoy a few drinks.

We were driving from Edinburgh to Inverness when we came across this gem! I'm so glad we stopped here. The owner was very nice and he took the time to explain all the different beers he had available. Every one was fantastic. If you live in Scotland or if you're just passing through, I highly recommend a trip to Wasted Degrees.

The Loft Restaurant offers a warm and friendly atmosphere with fabulous views. They take pride in sourcing high-quality fresh produce from local suppliers. Visitors rave about the beautiful and passionately served food, though it may be a bit pricey, the quality is definitely worth it. The upmarket yet relaxed ambiance provides a friendly welcome and service.
Great Food and great service! We loved our experience there and were pleasantly surprised that one of the hosts spoke German quite well. Overall just very lovely people and we had an excellent and price worthy meal.🫶🏻

There is a reason the Loft has been voted best restaurant in Scotland and featured in so many good food reviews. The food is sublime and the service friendly. Our party of four had an evening meal tonight. The duck was succulent and tender, My venison was cooked to perfection and well complemented by a rich cherry sauce. Two of our party had the cod loin, big flakes of cod perfectly cooked . All our vegetables were steamed to perfection. The servers were attentive and friendly as were the owners. I would heartedly recommend visiting the loft for a gastronomical delight. 6/8/25.

Outstanding food: perfectly cooked venison, duck fillet, lamb, and sirloin—each dish full of rich, balanced flavors. Unfortunately, the bill listed items we never ordered, which soured an otherwise excellent meal. Great kitchen, but double‑check your receipt

The food here was absolutely phenomenal! I had the lamb and it came out perfectly. Everything on the plate was delicious and complimented each other wonderfully. The service was excellent and we received our food in a perfectly timely manner. I also ordered the creme brulee for dessert, and this was utterly divine. Overall, a perfect place for a lovely meal. The decor was lovely and made you feel right at home. I strongly reccomend coming here for one of the best meals you're going to have.

This was a return visit to The Loft which we visited before when staying in Blair Atholl. It is a lovely restaurant, the atmosphere is calm and not noisy even though other diners are chatting. The service is wonderful and you are made to feel very welcome. The food is fantastic with a difference in choice which makes a change to other places and it always comes beautifully presented. The Tulach Cafe, Restaurant and Bar at Blair Atholl Golf Club is a remarkable establishment with an impressive setting. My boyfriend and I came in 2 minutes before the kitchen was closing (i believe it was 8 or 9pm) and they still welcomed us and served us some amazing food. The fish and chips I had beat any of my expectations for fish and chips. It was very very delicious. The atmosphere was very nice. We were welcomed by some locals watching football and they were very friendly. I would gladly recommend the place!

Great service and food as always. Now with Amber Rye from local brewery Wasted Degrees too. Always very welcoming. The range of food on offer is great and amazing what they can do with a small kitchen and staff size. Worth any wait knowing that the food is all freshly made to order. Great views too. Dogs also allowed in bar area. Booking highly advised for busy periods/large groups.

What a fantastic place. Do not be put off by the building view as you approach from the rear. The restaurant offers outstanding views and is well laid out with a great ambience. Service was super friendly and super professional, we wanted for nothing. The menu was a bit limited but the quality and taste was outstanding. I chose salmon and was blown away by the freshness, the flavour and the way it absolutely melted in my mouth. I have only had better Salmon once and that was on Padstow beach on 31st December 1999 cooked by Rick Stein but this was a very close second. The chef is superbly talented and this was the best meal of the trip and we had some great meals.

Waterfalls
The Falls of Bruar, located between Blair Atholl and Pitlochry, is a series of captivating waterfalls that have been a popular attraction in Perthshire for many years. Visitors can embark on a scenic circular walking route from the House of Bruar carpark, crossing charming stone bridges and enjoying views of the tumbling cascades. This picturesque setting inspired renowned Scottish poet Robert Burns and offers an easily accessible hike suitable for most visitors.
Very beautiful landscapes, we caught a perfect sunny spring day to visit the waterfalls which are wonderful. The road to the waterfalls is easy to walk, the forest is very clean and beautiful, and the stones in the water and next to the waterfalls look very beautiful thanks to time and the water that has eaten them and made some beautiful and interesting carvings.
Isabela M — Google review
A lovely spot for an easy, unhurried walk. There’s a circular route that our two kids and dog managed with no problem. Beautiful mountain views, a few waterfalls, and stunningly clear water. There are even a couple of benches at the top to rest and take it all in.
Ksya C — Google review
The lovely walk to the falls is much more pleasant because Robert Burns convinced the Duke of Atholl to plant trees. Watching people slide down the rocks into the water was quite entertaining.
Susan S — Google review
Lovely walk next to the shopping centre - sounds weird I know!! But so peaceful - the falls were incredible. Parked for free and used the wonderful courtyard cafe afterwards
Tracey M — Google review
Stunning scenery and a lovely short walk. Give it about 45 minutes to get all the way around with a couple of stops to take in the beautiful Scottish wilds.
Balefire L — Google review
Lovely spot, nice walk up to the top. I pulled over to stretch my legs heading south.... Was worth the pit stop
Paw — Google review
The Falls of Bruar rose to prominence in the late 18th century, immortalised by Robert Burns, who penned a poem imploring the Duke of Atholl to enrich the stark landscape with trees. The Duke obliged, and today visitors are treated to a serene, wooded gorge that became a favourite retreat during the Victorian era. There are two main cascades—lower and upper—and reaching them involves a modest uphill walk. It’s not overly demanding; 30 to 45 minutes will comfortably suffice unless one chooses to continue further into the forested trails. The setting is utterly tranquil, rich in greenery and fresh air, and although the waterfalls themselves are not vast, the experience is undeniably rewarding. Do bear in mind, however, that the terrain may pose challenges for those with limited mobility. Conveniently, there is a free car park, a selection of shops nearby, and a café offering refreshments and light bites for those wishing to relax before or after their walk.

A Fabulous 👌 Experience, walking the Falls of Bruar, A Good, but Quite rough Track in places, Steep in some parts.... I would Highly Recommend Proper Walking Boots ( especially for Ankle Support) even though this walk could be seen as Easy, if there's been alot of Rain 🌧, the Paths become very muddy, the rocks are very Slippery when Wet, and the Wooden walkways covering some of the Soft Ground, are also Slippery, so PLEASE TAKE GREAT CARE... when doing this walk... we were here after some very Heavy rain 🌧 had Swollen the Rivers, so the Falls were in Spectacular Form..... and the whole Setting/ Scene is Especially stunning with the Fabulous Autumn Colours 🍂 🍁🍁🍂🍂🔥🍁🍁 a walk to Savour..... There is Excellent parking, and after the walk, you can Take your time and Enjoy a Refreshing Drink, in the Lovely Restaurant in the House of Bruar shopping Park.... The walk is signposted, and I would Highly Recommend this, allow around an Hour,N,half- 2 hours.... there are many Beautiful moments to Enjoy......

Blair Castle Gardens is a picturesque and historically rich destination that offers a variety of attractions. The walled Hercules Garden and Dianas Grove with its magnificent firs are popular spots, while the nearby chapel where Bonnie Dundee was buried adds to the historical appeal. Visitors can also enjoy sightings of red deer, explore a sculpture trail, and relax in the tearoom or browse the gift shop. The garden features fairy tale doors on trees that children particularly enjoy.
Beautiful gardens to walk around with seating, shelters , statues and waterfowl.

By September the garden beds starts to look unkept. More about the architecture and layout of the garden rather than the impressive color display of flowers . Impressive orchard and pond .

Worst customer experience ever. Last Monday I Bought a Loch Ness Monster "teddy bear" for my 6yo boy. 30 minutes after leaving the store my son was showing me his Nessie as if it was swimming and the toy just flat opened it's back, and the interior foam was coming out of it. So clearly this product was defected, as it is supposed to handle a child playing with it, instead of being simply displayed on a shelf. I Came back to the store to replace by a new one and they simply refused to return the defected toy to their supplier, and instead suggested that my 6yo could have damaged the toy with a knife or scissors (really?!) It's normal that sometimes a product comes out of the factory with defect (there's a percentage of that happening), what's not normal of for the store employee refusing to provide a solution to a complaining customer, other than accusing his son of misusing the toy in the first 30 minutes after purchase. When I questioned them about the quality of the product, the best answer they could give me is that this product was made in China and cost 12,99£, if I wanted something more resistant, it would have cost me over 20£ How is it possible to have such a miserable customer service over a toy that mustn't have cost the store more than 2 or 3£?!

Visited The Orangery at The Old Manse of Blair for afternoon tea with a party of four. Received a warm greeting from staff wearing face coverings, allowing us to feel comfortable. We were seated at a spacious table for 'Social Distancing' and promptly served. Enjoyed a variety of sandwiches, savory tarts, and sausage rolls, along with a nice selection of cakes and the option to choose from various teas or coffees.
We went for dinner at the Old Manse after getting engaged, both the staff and food were exceptional. Wine pairing and tasting menu was fantastic. The staff were great at explaining the dishes and helped us arrange a transfer back to our hotel. Would highly recommend and wish we had stayed as well as eaten in the restaurant!

This is a beautiful place to stay making us feel at home. The quality of food and drinks were very high! The only reason why this gorgeous place only receives 4 out of 5 stars is the breakfast experience: one guy serving and cooking 15 people at the same time on his own is a masterpiece of work - for us it was a disaster! Very disappointed on the owner who absolutely saves money on the wrong place!
On R — Google review
We stopped here for one night before travelling north to do the NC 500. Everything about The Old Manse was pure magic. The rooms were comfy and spotlessly clean. All the staff were really friendly and helpful. Well worth a visit.
Del W — Google review
The food deserves 5 stars. It was outstanding! Presentation, flavours and portion size were top-notch. Absolutely brilliant meal! The space was also beautiful, with lovely decor. The service was not to the level you would expect for fine dining and definitely not worth the 15% service charge added to the bill. The email reminder about the upcoming reservation told us the set menu would be £65, and when we arrived it was £85. Go for the food, not for the service.

Booked for afternoon tea for 4. Warm welcome, staff wearing face coverings so we didn't have to. Shown to a large table for 'Social Distancing'. Prompt service. Four different types of sandwich, savoury tarts, sausage rolls. Nice selection of cakes and choice of teas or coffees. The let down was the scones. Not freshly baked and on the hard side. Really friendly staff and nice surroundings and a beautiful sunny day. Recommended.
