Blagaj Tekke is a historic Sufi monastery located on the cliffs by the water, featuring a mausoleum and an old Turkish bath. Built in 1520 by the Ottomans as a dervish lodge, it offers a wonderful area to explore while in Bosnia. Visitors can pay a small fee to tour the inside of the monastery or take a short walk up an opposite path for a beautiful view of the shaded area.
Beautiful place, the water is so pretty. Spring coming from a cave with a monastery. There are lots of vendors and restaurants outside the monastery. A nice walking path down to the water and a tiny boat ride across. It’s a cool tourist area but genuine pretty.

Visiting the Tekija in Blagaj was a truly peaceful and unforgettable experience. The harmony between nature and history is breathtaking — the crystal-clear river, the majestic cliffs, and the serenity of the Dervish house make it one of the most beautiful and spiritual places I’ve ever seen. A must-visit if you're in Bosnia and Herzegovina!
Mat B — Google review
The Islamic monastery of Tekija Blagaj is absolutely impressive! The entrance fee is around 10 km, but it's definitely worth it. Its location, right at the source of the Buna River, is simply breathtaking—surrounded by rocks, water, and beautiful nature. A place full of peace and history. Parking is also available nearby for a small fee. Overall, a fantastic destination that shouldn't be missed when visiting the region!🇧🇦❤️

Incredible place to visit. If you are visiting Bosnia, I would say a must visit. Beautiful historical and natural heritage of Bosnia located at the spring of the Buna river. This spring ranks as one of the largest in whole Europe. Around the spring there are restaurants with a really beautiful view. Of course Blagaj tekke is opened for tourists and you can visit this architectural ensemble in and out.
M K — Google review
A short drive from Mostar and the place looks magical. We went on an evening in Ocotber and practically had the place to ourselves. You can also walk upto the monastery though we skipped it, and there are many restaurants around too where you can relax with a view. There is a parking lot nearby in walking distance and I had read previous reviews that they collect money, but surprisingly on the day and time we went there was noone there to collect.
Amruth M — Google review
Blagaj, which is the source of the Buna River and home to a beautiful Dervish Monastery nestled beside a cave and mountain. Entry to the monastery is €5. Some visitors were praying inside, and we were told that Dervish gatherings still take place here on Mondays and Fridays, lasting anywhere from 15 minutes to 2 hours.

Blagaj Alperenler Tekke is one of the most impressive and peaceful spots in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Built at the base of towering cliffs beside the crystal-clear Buna River, this historic Sufi lodge offers a unique harmony of nature and history. With its simple yet elegant Ottoman architecture, spiritual atmosphere, and surrounding natural beauty, it provides visitors with an unforgettable experience both visually and spiritually. A hidden paradise for those seeking tranquility, history, and reflection.

Very scenic spot. The ticket to go inside not really worth the price but the suroudings are free and very enjoyable during sunset

Vrelo Bune is a stunning natural spring that flows from a cavern, creating picturesque waterfalls near waterfront restaurants. The turquoise water flows with incredible force, offering a beautiful yet awe-inspiring sight. The well-maintained house and boat tours add to the attraction. Visitors can enjoy the magnificent view of the mountain and river while exploring nearby restaurants with great cuisine. Although crowded at times, it's still recommended for its breathtaking beauty and unique experience.
Vrelo Bune this spring, the largest in Bosnia and Hercegovina one of the most powerful on the European continent, is located in the south of the country near the city of Mostar. It is a karst spring from which 43,000 liters of water flow per second. In the 17th century, a three-story Drvenik Monastery was built here. So beautiful Place.🇧🇦❤️
Enver S — Google review
Really crowdy and narrow roads to the place.. Parking is paid, but like 2€ a day. Really nice river flowing out of cave, very clean and cold. You can rent a boat which gives you a ride near the cave. There is huge restaurant next the river with variety of food, cannot review as we did not dine in. Worth visit if you don't have any other plans.

Vrelo Bune – Stunning & Peaceful! 🌊🏞️ Crystal clear river, magical view of the Dervish Monastery 🕌✨, and a perfect spot to relax and take photos 📸🍃.

One of the biggest Spring in Europe, beautiful and clear water. One of the toughest cave to dive here, interesting to find some of the informations online, we did the boat tour , great information.
J — Google review
What an amazing time spent at Vrelo Bune. Althought when we were there it was really busy with big groups, we really enjoyed this area in Bosnia. You have to pay to get inside the mosque but it’s really worth it. To see the authentic old set up was really great.
Sakina S — Google review
Tucked away in the serene village of Blagaj, near Mostar, is more than just a spring — it is a masterpiece of natural wonder intertwined with human craftsmanship.

Beautiful place with stunning natural scenery. Quite touristy, with many restaurants around, but still definitely worth a visit for the view and atmosphere.
Peter J — Google review
Beautiful place. The natural place is free, but you need to pay 2€ for parking and 5€ for entrance to the dervish house (if you don't want to see the house but only the spring, you don't need to pay).

Velagić House is a historical complex dating back to 1766, featuring several buildings, gardens, and mills along the riverbank. The interconnected courtyards are paved with river pebbles, creating a unique atmosphere. Visitors can explore the Dervis house to gain insight into the lifestyle of wise men from that era. Modest living is evident in the preserved setting. While it's a popular tourist spot, there are other attractions nearby.
The derviş house was beautiful. Inside the little building, you can gather some ideas about the wise men of the period and their way of living. You can guess how they were spending their days and how modest their live was. Unfortunately you have to cover yourself before going in, but they provide you with some clothing easy to put on. For instance as a woman you need to cover your head and your legs and as a man you need to cover your legs. The scene is absolutely beautiful. And next to it there is a nice little open air restaurant and everyone is very nice kind and helpful.

Vrelo Bune (Buna Wellspring) is a natural and architectural ensemble features Ottoman Mediterranean architecture dating back to 1520. Quite crowded considering we visited in the morning mid week. It's possible to see the house itself with a small fee.

Well worth a visit, beautiful place and the grounds were idyllic a true find and great experience.
Tonia N — Google review
It's beautiful to see, but if you're not a muslim, there's not much there for you. Besides all the restaurants there, your visit can be done within 15 minutes. Extend your stay by having lunch there. Don't expect to just have a drink, staff is very rude if you don't order lunch too.
Duncan S — Google review
Amaizing, so beautiful place..

All best, near the river, beautiful ancient look, every step you make is one part of history. It is like museum. Photos are also great.
Becky — Google review
A tourist trap. Do not know what others have seen. We had a problem getting in, as young master was gong for the prayer in the mosque. He did not come back even 2 hours later. His grandad opened showed us very little of the posession, because they have quarrel with the neighbor, so they did not want to disturb him. Paid a fee without getting a receipt. Worth seeing if you are able to see whole possesion

Amazing place, amazing view! There is no people so you can have a good rest in silence (we were on Friday) The trail is fascinating and well-equipped Absolutely free Be careful with the edges of the walls (the height can be dangerous) and snakes (we saw one near the trail) The place is highly recommended to visit

For solitude with stunning views, hike up to Stari Grad Blagaj. Overlooking the turquoise river and Dervish monastery, the medieval fortress offers peaceful ruins, sweeping vistas, and a quiet, timeless atmosphere. The hike is free, and there’s parking at the trailhead.
Nat — Google review
If you're craving solitude with a view that sings to the soul, Stari Grad Blagaj delivers. Perched high above the turquoise river and the famed Dervish monastery, this medieval fortress whispers stories of the Kosača family and centuries of quiet resilience. The hike up is short but steep—bring good shoes and a curious heart. Once at the top, you're rewarded with sweeping vistas, crumbling stone walls, and the kind of silence that feels sacred. No crowds, no ticket booths—just wind, wildflowers, and the occasional shy dog seeking kindness. There’s no signage, so do a little homework before you go. Or better yet, let the mystery unfold. Whether you're chasing golden hour light or simply a place to breathe, this fortress is a gem that Bosnia wears close to its heart.
Laurence H — Google review
Encountered an old female dog. She was shy and friendly. We gave her food and water when she approached us. There is a troublesome injury on her back, and she seems malnourished. We hope local people will retrieve and bring her to a better place. Good luck, Cassie (the name we gave her)

An outstanding castle overlooking Blagaj and the region around mostar. Very atmospheric and not a hard hike up from the parking spot (listed on Google). Free to enter.
Owen M — Google review
Nice walk, not hard to get there. Parking is just a few metres from the trail.

Very close to the monastery yet somehow we were the only visitors? A true hidden gem, there's a relatively short trail up to the fortress and you will be treated to stunning views and peaceful solitude
Alex W — Google review
Incredible castle. Open 24 hours. Have the castle all to yourself and be the king 🤴 This is better than Blagaj Tekke because there are absolutely no tourists, only a few licals hike this mountain to get to this fantadtic abandoned castle/fortress. According to my Garmin watch from the bus stop (226 feet or 69 meters of height elevation) to the flag pole on top of the castle (905 feet or 276 meters of height elevation), hiking ascend is 679 feet or 207 meters in total. The distance is 1.38 miles or 2.22 kilometers. It should take you about 40 minutes or 1 hour with videos and photos on the way up. Please bring lots of water during the summer because there is not much of shades up here. Wear a hat and sunblocks are very highly advised !!!! Blagaj Fortress or Old Town of Blagaj (Bosnian, Croatian and Serbian: Stari grad Blagaj, Serbian Cyrillic: Стари Град Благај; pronounced [blaːgaj]), locally known as Stjepan-grad (Стјепан-град), or Stipan-grad, in classical times Bona (Бона), is a town-fortress complex near the town of Blagaj, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The old Blagaj Fort was built on a high, inaccessible karst hill, at an elevation of 310 metres (1,020 ft) above sea level and 266 metres (873 ft) above the source of the river Buna. Blagaj Fort is 275 meters (902 ft) above sea level. Fortress is a national monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina, declared by KONS on 6 December 2003.

Autocamp Blagaj is a must-visit destination in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The warm welcome from Tania and the Autocamp team will make you feel right at home, ensuring you're treated like royalty throughout your stay. The campsite offers stunning views of the river, a beautiful bar, and a good restaurant. Guests are greeted with hospitality, including complimentary fruit, cake, and drinks upon arrival.
Such a warm welcome from the lovely owners. The site was recommended to us by a couple that had stayed 2 weeks, but they were not wrong. It's a great place you will love it. Excellent food and wine, very clean supermarkets close by and easy bus ride into Mostar. Brilliant in every way! 👏

great campsite, at a normal price, two adults, a dog, a car and a tent for 15 euros, clean, electricity, water on hand, older sanitary facilities, but enough. The campsite is by the water and under the trees so you can cool down. The owner is nice, we received wine, a drink, watermelon and baklava as a welcome gift, the food there is also great, we even got a free beer from the owner with dinner. I recommend
Kateřina K — Google review
We recently stayed at this campsite and had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. It’s located not far from one of the main roads, which makes access straightforward. Even with our nearly 12.5-metre rig, we had no difficulties getting in. The approach passes a local sports club, and on busy days there can be some parked cars narrowing the road slightly, but nothing that caused any real issues. The site itself doesn’t appear to have any restrictions on unit size. As a tip, it’s best to stick to the main roads, as navigation apps may try to route you through shortcuts that are not suitable or can be difficult for many units to manage. What truly set this campsite apart for us was the hospitality. We have travelled extensively, but we’ve rarely—if ever—experienced this level of warmth and genuine care from a host. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel incredibly welcome. The host goes above and beyond to ensure guests are comfortable, yet does so in a calm and unobtrusive way that allows you to fully relax. It’s a perfect balance of attentiveness and respect for your space—professional, heartfelt, and absolutely memorable. The campsite is well maintained and thoughtfully laid out, with spacious pitches and plenty of shady spots thanks to the mature planting throughout. Most pitches seemed to have their own sink, and there’s also a shared dishwashing area. Facilities include two separate toilet and shower blocks in different areas of the site, as well as two washing machines available for €3. The riverside location is a real asset, with several seating areas and loungers where guests can unwind and enjoy the view. Free-to-use kayaks are also available, which is a lovely bonus. The meals served on-site are very good, and the drinks menu is extensive. Overall, it’s a well-run, welcoming, and comfortable campsite with great facilities and a truly special atmosphere. We would return in a heartbeat.

Great place, nice services (bathroom, hot water and everything you need), a restaurant inside by the river (and you can also take the canoe without charge to do a nice ride on the river) and the best welcoming I’ve ever seen in my life! Staff are nice, gentle and they won’t spare efforts to make you feel home. I definetely recommend this place for everyone visiting Bosnia!

We’ve stayed here on three occasions as we can’t help but come back. The hospitality of this family run campsite is nothing less than exceptional. Close to Mostar and if you want to go for a day visit then they can arrange a taxi there and back for a small cost. This is way better than trying to park. The toiletry facilities are great, the food in the restaurant is superb and it’s very reasonably priced. Peaceful and relaxing. Absolutely recommend visiting here. It is a must see place with lots of nearby interesting places to go to. Thank you for making us so welcome every time we come Helen and Scott 😊

The Mlinica Restaurant in Blagaj has received rave reviews and boasts a stunning location next to beautiful waterfalls. Despite being initially empty, the staff warmly welcomed customers and provided a front row table with an incredible view. It's fortunate that they remained open for the night, as the experience was not to be missed. The food served was flawless, perfectly complemented by a glass of local Zilavka white wine.
Wow!! sitting here as I have just finished my food!! The best thing your food is hot when it gets to your table!!! The taste was excellent. The service was great. The cook was brilliant. I got chicken fillets with chips and grilled pepper and courgettes and partner got the trout with baked potato came with a bit of spinach and cabbage. Let's put it like this best food we had so far since we came on Sunday!!!

Very much enjoyed the restaurant - was a tough choice inbetween the dozens here, but this was perfectly situated by Vrelo Bune; the cool area coming out of the cave over the water and the sights. The food was fantastic, delicious, and a reasonable price. Had to try some of the more local items. Iced coffee available too!

Absolutely Loved Mlinica Restaurant in Blagaj! We had such a great experience at Mlinica – it honestly turned out to be one of the best places we've been to in Bosnia! 🌿 We ordered the mixed meat plate, a fresh salad, some rice, and wrapped it all up with traditional Bosnian coffee – every single thing we tried was delicious. The meat was juicy and well-seasoned, the salad was super refreshing, and that coffee at the end? The perfect finish. Our waiter, Eldi, was a total gem. Super friendly, helpful, and just had great vibes overall. He even recommended a soup (Bey čorba) for our baby – and wow, even that was seriously tasty! You can tell they put real care into what they serve. The atmosphere? Dreamy. You're literally sitting right by the river, surrounded by nature – peaceful, relaxing, and just the kind of place you'd want to hang out at for hours. Bonus points – the place is stroller-friendly, which made our life so much easier. You can easily bring your stroller all the way to the table without a problem, even right to the edge by the river. Also a big plus for us – we asked about whether the food was halal, and they kindly confirmed it was, which gave us peace of mind. Overall, it's the kind of spot that leaves you smiling and full – in the best way. Highly, highly recommend if you're ever in Blagaj. Don’t skip it!

Definitely recommend this restaurant! Amazing outdoor seating right by the river, perfect temperature to enjoy your food. We got the grilled trout with potatoes and spinach (22km pp) and it was so fresh and delicious. They also serve no alcohol which is a plus for muslims! Great food and experience!

Nestled by the serene Buna River, Fajić is a charming family-run restaurant that has been delighting guests since 1970. This beloved spot not only boasts a rich history, having welcomed notable figures like Yugoslav President Josip Broz Tito and actor Richard Gere, but it also offers an inviting atmosphere perfect for relaxation. The picturesque setting allows diners to savor delicious meals while listening to the gentle flow of water nearby.
Right next to the Buna river, you can eat your fish and sip your drink while listening to the sound of water. It is a very beautiful and authentic place. The air is also very nice. There is the Blagaj lodge at the beginning, you can visit there too.

Amazing, we got a 2 people fish platter. We got so much, luckily we did the hike to fortress before (also recommend, just aspretty as the waterfall/mosque) and it tasted fantastic. 100% would come here again!

The restaurant is just outside the main area and it was very quiet. The location was stunning as it’s right by the water like a lot of the restaurants in Blagaj. The food was okay for the price but the service wasn’t very nice. Although it was quick, the servers were very disinterested and not helpful.
Simon P — Google review
Would probably not recommend to any friends, the food is just ok and on the bit worse side. The server sermed pretty mad but the location is 10/10 but the price does not at all meet the food expectation. One small sprite for 3 euro is also unreasonable for this place.
Ahmed A — Google review
I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. The service was incredibly poor; the staff did not welcome visitors at all. To make matters worse, they were quite rough, hitting the dishes on the table instead of placing them gently. This lack of care for customers really ruined the dining experience. Overall, I cannot recommend this restaurant based on the service I received.
Gada I — Google review
This restaurant has been in continuous service since 1970 and in days gone by was frequented by the president of Yugoslavia, Josip Broz Tito. Richard Gère has once dined here. I have dined here four times in the past 18 months and shall remain the only venue to eat at in Blagaj. The family operated restaurant provides fast, friendly and multilingual service. Their menu offers vegetarian options and the food has consistently remained of a high quality, well presented, and most importantly, tasty and filling. The setting is immediately besides the rapidly flowing river which provides the ideal ambiance to make for a perfect experience in the most beautiful setting,

We stayed one night in Hotel Ada, there was 8 of us, 4 couples. Rooms are exceptionally clean, for me that was most important. Staff is very nice, they are extremely helpful. For my husband importante was that they had excelente coffee😄 I highly recommend starting here, even if you are Bosnian like me, and just wanna enjoy beautiful Hercegovina for few days.

Good service and very good and fresh trout. Actually the fish couldn't be fresher since it's catched in front of us directly from a small river stream where they are kept. We took both the grilled and fried trout, and the fried was the best specially with the olive sauce. Good prices and nice and relaxing environment

What a hidden gem this is! Tastefull dishes on the menu (try the plate dish for 2 or the grilled fish), lovely places to sit and enjoy the river view in the garden en great staf to serve you. We been there for diner and for drinks and are happy we found this place. Especcially our thanks and greetings to Kristina, who made our time at Velika Ada even more enjoyable.

Good food, nice people but ambient is amazing. Especially at Summer. It is next to the river so it's nice chilling. There are few swings and slide for small kids. There is no fence so if you have toddlers you need to keep them close to you.. You can't have lunch with very small kids and be relaxed.. But for adults it is great summer choice.

The Museum - Campus Oldtimer Club Mostar is a fascinating destination for history enthusiasts and car lovers alike. It offers a glimpse into Mostar's rich history, spanning from the Ottoman era to more recent events. The museum showcases an impressive collection of cars that are over 50 years old, creating an immersive environment for visitors to enjoy. Additionally, the museum features various exhibits beyond cars, including Yugoslavian parts, vehicles under construction, and African figures.
They welcomed us warmly! We love this place very much!

An excellent museum and an even better host. Zdravko is a man who has traveled all over the world, and in addition to the vintage cars, you can hear many, many fascinating stories from his life. He is a man who captivates with his charisma and knowledge. It’s a real pleasure to listen to him and talk with him. There are plenty of reasons to visit this museum and enjoy a more than pleasant conversation with him.

Historical Cars, Yugoslavian parts, Vehicles under construction, African figures. It is literally a time machine to travel through the dusty pages of history. I recommend using a car for transportation. You should definitely visit if you are interested in cars and antiques. We would also like to thank the owner of the museum for hosting us so well. 🙂🙏 (Original) Hayatımda deneyimlediğim en güzel müzelerden. Hikayesini bizzat dinlemenizi öneririm. Guberača

Historical landmark
Nestled in the picturesque Podvelezje region of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Guberača Fortress stands as a testament to the area's rich history. This former Austro-Hungarian stronghold, perched at an elevation of 624 meters, was constructed following Austria-Hungary's occupation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. While it may not be widely advertised, Guberača is a hidden gem for hiking enthusiasts seeking adventure off the beaten path.
The fortress "Guberača" was an military station located east of Mostar. It is 624m above sea level and to get there you need to use an old macadam path.. If you have vehicle for that kind of road, you can get all to the fortress by car. If you are with kids be careful at summer.. There you can meet snakes.. If want to feel Mostar and it's nature, after visiting this fortress go to lunch at Farma Ranc.. Family estate with animals, good homemade food and really relaxing ambient for families with kids.. It is safe but so natural.. And not expensive.. Have a fun.

(Translated by Google) It is very beautiful and, unfortunately, at least as abandoned. You can get up on foot (approx. 90 minutes), the road is not difficult, a relatively slightly steep but long and winding gravel road takes you up, from where you can enjoy a wonderful view of the city. The fort has survived in quite good condition, but since it has no owner, it is worth paying attention to where you step. There is already some writing or description of the story here, which is unusual in Bosnia. There are a few rooms you can go into. Around the fortress, you can find several bunkers, trenches or firing positions built during the Bosnian war, which, although not reminiscent of the long past, can be thought-provokingly interesting. It is a tiring and long tour with children, it is advisable to bring water and food as well as a raincoat, because the weather can change quickly There are snakes, it's worth paying attention to where and what you step on (Original) Nagyon szép és sajnos legalább ennyire elhagyatott is.

(Translated by Google) Impressive, even if there isn't much to see. It took us two hours to get here from Opine. You also pass the tower. If that's too far for you, just go to "Werk 9," where there's actually more to see.

(Translated by Google) TL,DR: Impressive Guberača Fortress, but nothing extraordinary Briefly about history: The Tvrđava Guberača is a former Austro-Hungarian fortress located east of Mostar in the Podveležje region of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It lies at an altitude of 624 meters above sea level and was built after the occupation of Bosnia and Herzegovina by Austria-Hungary. Mostar then served as a background base and had 19 fortified objects - most in Bosnia and Herzegovina. To reach the fortress and other military posts such as Svetigora (877 m) and Merdžan glava (802 m), Austria-Hungary built a road from Mostar along the Fortica. No local staff was used. The path led via Šipovac to Brasin and a branch led to Merdžan glava. The road was also used to transport timber from the Velež Mountains and was paved after World War II. Unfortunately, of the numerous Austro-Hungarian fortresses around Mostar, very few have survived, and those that still exist are in poor condition. East of Mostar, remains can be found on the slopes and plateau of Podveležje, connected by a path approximately 14 kilometers long: Plant 9, Mali grad, Guberača, Merdžan glava, Sveta gora (Svetigora) and Fortica. The Guberača Fortress is undoubtedly an impressive structure with historical significance, but apart from that there is nothing exceptional or spectacular to report. It's an interesting place for history buffs, but for the average visitor the fortress is just "pretty cool" with no other special features.

(Translated by Google) Such forts are not advertised, but for those who like hiking, they are a perfect destination, I can only recommend them. On one route, you can see three, unfortunately, "ruins", this is the third station, as well as several smaller "bunker"-like things next to the road. At the bottom of the mountain, on the edge of the city, as long as Google takes you and an asphalt road, then you can pull over, park, and leave your car behind to start the tour. Those who may be coming with an all-terrain vehicle and are lazy can go all the way up, in some places it is narrow, gravelly, a bit weedy, but passable. It can be reached in about 1.5 hours, it is not very steep, but you must wear suitable shoes because of the pebbles. The place is deserted, almost just a wall, but it still manages to touch a person with its historical past. Not to mention, the view of the city of Mostar is magnificent.
