Park
The Plitvice Ticket Office Entrance 1 is a convenient starting point for exploring the park. Visitors can park their cars in the nearby parking lots, which are free during the winter and paid during the summer with a Plitvice Lakes ticket. To avoid queues, it's recommended to arrive at 7:00 am and purchase tickets in advance. The route H from Entrance 1 offers picturesque viewpoints and takes visitors to the shuttle boat stop, providing access to shuttle buses.
Plitvice National Park is an absolute natural wonder! The stunning waterfalls, crystal-clear lakes, and lush greenery create a magical atmosphere. Walking the well-maintained trails is a peaceful and breathtaking experience. It's a must-visit for nature lovers and photographers alike. The park is well-organized, with helpful staff and great facilities. Truly a place to reconnect with nature and enjoy unforgettable views!
Marin D — Google review
For starters, the park is purely breathtaking! Worth the visit 100% For a more detailed approach, you have two possibilities, either entrance 1, which I chose, from where you can take all possible routes and start at the big waterfalls or entrance 2 that starts at the middle of the park. You can buy the tickets online on their site, or at the entrance either from a ticket machine or from the cashier, cash, or card. The parking was 2€/hour. After entry, there are different path options, we chose B, which was around 8000 steps, plus the boat and bus ride which are included in the ticket price. This took around 3 hours but there are possibilities to take longer routes that have up to 18 km of walking and take up to 8 hours to complete. There are also bathrooms, restaurants and different activities such as renting a row boat for 15€/hour.

Plitvice Lakes is next level!!! It’s a must-see when visiting Croatia. There are many tourists but still worth going. We followed Route C which provided a great trip through the river, lower and upper lakes and around the lake. It felt like the most complete option for a day trip.
Bree G — Google review
Really pretty, however, really overpriced! At EUR 40.00 per person I believe it was among the most expensive national park entries I’ve ever paid, particularly considering the offer: natural beauty (Ok!) and electric boat ride and sparse eating and toilet facilities. Even though we were here in early June, on a regular weekday, we had to march along masses and masses of people. The hotel and restaurant facilities in the area are limited and expensive. There are many natural parks in the world I would go back to, this is not one of them, despite its beauty.
Z U — Google review
Visiting Plitvice was an unforgettable experience! Finding parking was a bit crowded around noon, and it cost 10€, but once we got in, it was absolutely worth it. The place is unreal – I couldn't stop saying 'wow' at the stunning views! The waterfalls create such a relaxing atmosphere. We took Route C, which was a longer hike and took us about 4 hours at a fast pace. It was totally worth it, but we were definitely exhausted afterward. Highly recommend this breathtaking destination!
Ariel R — Google review
Stunning Nature: Sixteen turquoise lakes connected by cascading waterfalls, surrounded by dense forest. The wooden boardwalks let you walk right over the water. Waterfalls: Veliki Slap (the "Big Waterfall") is especially impressive. Photography Paradise: Crystal-clear water, fish swimming underfoot, and seasonal color changes (spring = waterfalls in full force, autumn = colorful forests, winter = frozen wonderland). Well-marked Trails: Several circular routes (from 2-8 hours) with clear signage. Boats and shuttles help connect the trails. UNESCO Status: Preserved ecosystem with rich flora and fauna.
Goran — Google review
1 | Plitvice Lakes National Park is Croatia’s oldest and largest national park, known for its cascading lakes connected by a series of waterfalls and walkways. The park features 16 terraced lakes formed by natural travertine dams, and can be explored via marked hiking trails and boat rides. The surrounding nature is stunning, and the lakes’ turquoise color is unbelievable. 2 | The park has two entrances, and we chose Entrance 1. You can buy tickets in advance on the park’s website for a specific time slot. In peak season (July 2025), the price is 40 euros for adults, 25 euros for students, and 15 euros for children aged 7 to 18. I found the entrance fee overpriced — Croatians really know how to charge tourists — but Plitvice Lakes are still worth visiting. Prices are lower outside the main season. 3 | Expect large crowds in the park, including big tour groups. A good tip is to visit on a weekday and right when the park opens. We went on a Sunday in July at 7:00 AM and there were already quite a few people. 4 | Parking is available across the road from the park. During peak season, the price is 2 euros per hour and there are plenty of spaces. 5 | The park itself is beautiful, especially the waterfalls and wooden walkways between the lakes. We chose the longer Route C. The ticket includes a boat ride across the lake, which fits 100 people and runs every 30 minutes. It also covers the shuttle bus that takes you from the far end of the park back to the entrance. You can grab a map at the entrance or take a photo of it there. 6 | There are two snack stands inside the park. Like the entry and parking fees, prices are on the higher side. The food quality is nothing special. 7 | As mentioned, we did Route C. We walked at a decent pace but stopped often to take photos and enjoy the amazing nature. The whole visit took us 4.5 hours. The website says this route takes 4 to 5 hours, which was accurate. 8 | I noticed that people walk in groups. Especially after getting off the boat, it helps to wait a bit or walk ahead to enjoy some quieter stretches of the trail. 9 | I recommend planning your trip in advance and booking accommodation nearby. We stayed in a guesthouse about 15 minutes from the entrance, which saved us both time and money. Accommodation near the park tends to be pricey. 10 | I recommend visiting Plitvice Lakes for families too — it’s even worth the drive from Rijeka, which is what we did. Around the halfway point, the scenery starts to get a bit repetitive, but that’s a good time to hop on the shuttle bus back to the entrance. What really bothered me were some disrespectful visitors who didn’t follow the rules and were smoking in the park.
Petr N — Google review
Every corner of this place is worth money spent for the tickets. The nature, lakes were absolutely amazing! You need a whole day to explore this national park, bring some food and water because there is a handful of places there where you buy hotdogs and water.

Waterfalls
Great Waterfall, also known as Veliki Slap, is a stunning natural wonder located within a national park in Croatia. Standing at an impressive 78 meters tall, it is the highest waterfall in the country and offers breathtaking views. The surrounding area features picturesque picnicking spots and a viewing platform to take in the beauty of the cascading water. Visitors can also explore the Sastavci waterfalls, which create a dramatic scene as they appear to be an extension of Great Waterfall.
This is the tallest waterfall in Plitvice Lakes National Park, measuring approximately 78 meters in height. It is a single-drop waterfall, cascading straight down from a high cliff in a dramatic and powerful flow. The sight of the water plunging in a single stream is truly awe-inspiring. In spring and after rainfall, the volume of water increases, creating an even more impressive spectacle. During winter, the frozen form offers a completely different yet equally stunning view. Visiting early in the morning rewards you with a magical atmosphere, as mist and sunlight create a dreamlike setting. It is the closest major attraction to Ticket Office 1, and certain trail routes allow you to reach a viewpoint right at the base of the waterfall.
Seokjin H — Google review
Beautiful nature. We did circuit C and it took us 4 hours, moderately difficult terrain. The boat trip was also great. There are toilets and refreshment stands at the stations. Nice people everywhere.

• A breathtaking natural wonder, the view is absolutely stunning. 🌿💦 •The power and sound of the waterfall are mesmerizing. •Beautiful walking trails with peaceful surroundings. •A must-see spot in Croatia. •Very clean, well-maintained, and visitor-friendly.
Özgür Ç — Google review
The big waterfall looks perfect. If you are lucky, your impression will be completed by the small drops carried by the gentle wind from the waterfall that fall on the tourists. The impression would be better if there weren't so many tourists in this place, but I can understand why people stay here.
King S — Google review
TOURIST TRAP. It’s an amazing natural site, however the queues are crazy and it seems they let too many people into the park. Expect 1 or 2 hour queue to catch the boat. We ended up not bothering and just walking. I’d recommend visiting but maybe come off season or get here super early. The time slot is just for entrance, not the boats.
George S — Google review
Extraordinary balcony on the upper part of the waterfalls. We were there during the second COVID summer thus we enjoyed the park almost alone ! Superlative is a diminutive in this case !
Tony B — Google review
Dreamy, full-on nature immersive! Only downside: wooden path is very narrow plus at water level, so u can't enjoy the waterfall in absolute peace - making space for people passing all the time & the anxiety of your belongings (phone etc) falling in the lakes.
Romy X — Google review
Absolutely gorgeous and an amazing experience to be here. This is the highest waterfall in the Plitvice National Park – 78 meters high situated at the very end of the Lower Lakes. It is fed by the waters of the Plitvica Potok River. Considered as the most beautiful one on the Lakes, this waterfall is also the highest one in the whole of Croatia. A must visit site, when in Croatia.

Kozjačka Draga is a picturesque spot with benches and picnic tables, making it perfect for a rest during your hike. You can also visit the souvenir shop to take home some mementos. Afterward, you can hop on a boat to cross the stunning Kozjak lake.
A good restaurant Lo longer walks in handy. They have a man's offer here, but also connections. There is enough space for sitting. There is also a toilet as well as souvenir shops.

Nothing special about the food, but it's nice to have a place to rest a while and eat a snack if you need it. Located next to the boat ride, at the beginning of the big lake. Personel was polite. Prices are expensive as expected for a place like this.
Dimitris K — Google review
Pro: best location. Food availability between the trek. Tasty pommes (fries) Excellent sitting capacity. WC available. Polite staff. Cons: Slow service considering the crowd on weekends. Long queue. Charged extra for ketchup and overall very costly food. Dry burgers.
Prathamesh ( — Google review
Best place for coffee in Plitvice. They have a fireplace which is great for cold days. Some guests came in to avoid the cold without ordering. A man wanted to pay for a cup of hot water. Cashier told him that they do not sell it and he can ask for it at the counter which he did. Very kind of the people managing this kiosk. Fries were cooked upon ordering. Love my food and drinks piping hot on a cold day before we headed out to the cold again.
Rise&Shine — Google review
The burger meat was mediocre, the muffin and apple strudel were amazing, beer was great. No bad experience with the staff. No long wait. Sure there are hundreds of people here at the same time so there is some wait but it was not extreme.
Judith K — Google review
We ate here at the Kozjačka Draga bistro by the P3 ferry terminal. We travelled from P2, after taking the H route around the upper lakes. I think we nailed it because we only had a 5min wait before the ferry left, got on right away, and there were no lineups to the bistro. However the ferry terminal leaving had a huge lineup. Everybody probably starts on the lower lakes and moves to the upper lakes. We had the chicken burgers, which despite some of the reviews I’ve read, tasted great!
Phil A — Google review
Burger is ok. Allready premade, i think only the meat is grilld on the spot. The burger itself is oke size but very dry even with tomato slices cause there is no any sauce.. i strongly recommend buying at cash register 1 pack of ketchup and mayo whatever you like and modified it yourself, its much better i promise. Fries were most certantly frozen but oke, they miss salt tho.. They only offer tap cola and some drinks wich i was told by guy at cash register is not very good or worth it. Didnt buy any drink after that. They have some drinks in fridge. You can buy exact same food at entrance 1. Beware of long lines to womans bathroom, food service and veery long line for electric boat ride even after the end of the summer season.
Filip Z — Google review
The food was fresh and tasty — juicy burgers, crispy fries, and an amazing apple strudel. Service was friendly and fast, even with lots of visitors. Everything is clean, organized, and runs smoothly. Yes, prices are a bit higher, but the view and convenience are more than worth it. Definitely recommended for a scenic break with a snack or coffee right in the heart of the park.

Located in the tourist zone of the Plitvice Lakes National Park, the newly opened Plitvice Mall is a popular shopping destination for both visitors and locals. Spanning almost 4,000 square meters, this attractive shopping center offers a variety of retail spaces. The mall features supermarkets like Tommy, known for its helpful and cheerful staff who constantly restock fresh goods.
Nice little mall with the most important things you need while on holidays: grocery store, pharmacy, clothes, a Tedi and Bipa

Five or so outlets are here selling things from groceries to pharmacy items to clothing to nicknacks. There's also a cafe, a petrol station and large parking lot. It's all very clean and accessible.

This lovely spot has incredible potential, but bringing the prices down would make it even more inviting for everyone.

A little hard to get to if you don't drive. It is located right next to the main road & there are no walking pavements which can be dangerous for small kids or older folks. But you can get all sorts of things here.

Horseback Riding Tours
Ranch Terra, located in Jelov klanac 244b, Rakovica, offers a delightful horse riding experience. They provide private rides for experienced riders and have a perfect terrain for riding through woods, fields, tracks, and grass tracks on the hills with lovely views of the mountains. The deer valley tour is highly recommended as it offers a beautiful five-hour ride through woods and open fields with opportunities for trotting and galloping.
What an AMAZING experience! My mum and I stayed for two nights at the ranch, going on a 2 hour hack on the first day and then the half day ride to the deer valley Our guide Dina was amazing and made us feel super safe and comfortable, and even got me to do my first canter 🤩 She took photos and videos of us along the whole journey as well! The horses are super lovely and calm and they have three absolutely gorgeous dogs that live super free and even came on the rides with us!! The deer valley ranch was astounding, with an hour long tour & feeding experience, then snacks of local meats and cheeses provided! The room was absolutely gorgeous and spotless as well, with a great little tea corner and balcony. Absolutely fantastic experience 10/10 would recommend to anyone and we'll be bringing more people with us when we come back soon 💕
Alicia W — Google review
My daughter booked this fabulous 2 hour afternoon trek at Ranch Terra and we both thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Ema our guide was great company along the way and our two horses Lisa and Luna superb for relative novice riders. The horses are clearly loved and well cared for, we felt safe at all times and enjoyed getting to see some more of the stunning Croatian landscape from the saddle. We’d highly recommend them if you’re looking for a change of scenery and something a little different to do. 🐴 😊👍

My family had a wonderful time at Ranch Terra. Beautiful family farm setting to start our trail ride. Marin, our guide took the time to ask our riding experience to match us with our horse for the afternoon. The horses were well taken care of and well behaved on the ride. The views were absolutely stunning, probably the most picturesque ride we have done (and we have two horse girls so we have been on many!). We would definitely recommend (and return) to Ranch Terra!
Timothy F — Google review
We had a fantastic experience at Ranch Terra! From the start, they were very responsive to emails and made booking easy. It’s a lovely, family-owned farm with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The team was incredibly attentive to our children, making sure they felt safe and comfortable on horseback. They went above and beyond to make the day special, even taking photos during the ride and sharing them afterward so we could remember the experience. Highly recommend for families looking for a memorable horseback riding adventure! Marin was our guide and he was fantastic! The kids fed the horses apples after, which added to the whole experience. Highly recommend!
Niki U — Google review
The absolute best horse-riding experience I have ever had! We walked through different landscapes and kept on getting stunned by the beauty of nature. Best time to go is for sure at Sunset. The horses were extremely well mannered and well-kept, the care that the people working at Ranch Terra put in their work is evident. We already decided to go back next time we’re in Croatia.
Asia M — Google review
What an amazing experience! We did a one-hour horse ride, and our guides were truly awesome and so helpful throughout. The ranch is absolutely lovely, and everything — from the horses to the dogs — is so well cared for. A big thank you to the whole team for doing such a wonderful job!

I had a major fall in 2023 from a horse so was very nervous to get back on one. Dina the guide was very patient with me and we had a lovely ride through the ranch and forest. It was the second time for my partner on a horse and he felt very comfortable on his horse. Highly recommend

The Caves of Barać, located 6km from Village Rakovica and near the Plitvice Lakes National Park, have been open to the public since 1892. This natural attraction offers guided tours through its prehistoric stalactites and stalagmites, providing a unique opportunity to explore its geological formations and archaeological discoveries. While once containing human remains from World War I and II, today visitors can admire the impressive rock formations within the caves.
So interesting! We had a wonderful tour with a knowledgeable and funny tour guide. Highly recommend!

The cave itself is not a spectacular experience. It's nice, nothing more. It's the tour guides that make it really interesting with their stories and jokes. The area below the cave entrance is pretty lovely for picnicking and just spending some relaxing time under the shades of the wood. The wifi is available and free.

The Lika Bundle is definitely a must-try! The lamb tastes amazing! The cheese that comes with the bread is also delicious, and the homemade gnocchi is really good too! I stayed at Hotel Jezero, which offers a shuttle service for round-trip transportation, making it very convenient. (I’m not sure if other places provide this service as well, probably can ask the hotel reception?)

It may look like overpriced touristic place due to it’s very convenient location near to ticket box but not at all! In the beginning we were skeptical due to the reason above but we decided to give a shot, since we got recommendation from a local person around. It was a good decision! Food was delicious, kind waiters(took bit time to order and pay due to business), and we enjoyed a lot. Recommended!

Excellent ! You might think it is a tourist trap as it is located right on the parking of the amazing park, but no this is actually really good! We loved the homemade cheese with bread while waiting for the very good gnocchi! Only one negative was the steak, it was quite dry unfortunately.

Found this gem after parking. Walked in to have lunch. Surprisingly the ood waa very good. Creamy House cow cheese with homemade bread was really good. Sous vide lamb with herb crusted waa excellent. Grilled Trout - have to be careful with tiny bones but overall taste was good. Service was friendly especially Marin & food waa prepped and cookes in a traditional open kitchen. Tranditional meals nees to book 24 hr in advance. Overall very happy with the meal

This is a very much belated review, just we are lazy. It was one of the best meals we have had during the self-drive trip to the Balkans. Meat was delicious, tender and juicy… what else? Cannot recall much, other than wanted back for more!

This is a great place to have a good hearty meal after a long day of walking in the national park! Plan ahead for certain dishes on their menu. I had dinner here twice during my stay in the park and liked the atmosphere and deliciousness of their food wafting in the air! I left happy and full. It's best to wait until after 7pm to dine here after the bus loads of tourists have departed.

Located just opposite to the gate 1 of Plitvice National Park. Prices are higher for Croatian standard but okay if you consider the prime location. The food was really delicious and authentic. Charming clean modernized cottage feel rooms in a secluded hill top chalet community. The hotel team is welcoming, friendly and attentive. Restaurant offers good home cooked food with good service. Only negative for us was that the AC didn’t work well as we do like to sleep in a cooler setting and the AC felt more like a fan. Location was extremely convenient, a 5-8min walk to the P3 entrance of the Plitvice Lake. Highly recommend.

This is an amazing small and intimate hotel right in the middle of the park. The staff is so nice and welcoming. The AC was cold. The food was traditional and ok. The wine was delicious. The service and kindness of the staff was top notch. They sell sandwiches you that you can take with you on your hike, but honestly, they are the same price as food at the concessions, so I would wait and get buy the concession food in the park instead.

Drove from split and stayed here one night to explore Plitvice Lakes. This place is perfect for visiting the park! The staff is very friendly and the rooms have everything you need. This hotel is so convenient because you can walk 10 minutes to get to Entrance 3 of the park- which is great since you don’t have to worry about paying for parking or driving 15 minutes to entrance 1. You then walk down and can take a beautiful ferry ride across the lake or can start on the walking trails. Since the park is so close to the hotel, we were able to explore for a few hours the first day we arrived at 2pm and saw the other half of the park the second day. The breakfast at the hotel had a beautiful spread and was definitely worth the 15euro. They offer 10euro packed sandwich option with a fruit and water bottle. This was key for me because they had gluten free bread to make a sandwich for me which I was so so grateful for since the park did not have any gluten free options at the concessions. Some other reviewers complained about the dinner being overpriced, but we thought it was quite a steal. I’m sharing a photo of the massive meat platter for 2 meal that was only 35 euro I believe. Way too much food for us and it was tasty! I would highly recommend this place to others and we hope to be back again!! :)

I only stayed in Etno Garden for 1 night, and I keep wishing I could have stayed longer. The whole area (park + lodging) seems unreal and like it's from a movie scene. I was lucky enough to get a room with the view of the lake and it was at the top of the building. Such a cozy room, and would be wonderful for a longer getaway. One thing to note is that you may not have access to an elevator in the lodging. My room was on the 3rd floor, which meant I had to carry my luggage to/from there. A wonderful location that is so close to the park, and the food was absolutely delicious!
Hayley H — Google review
Beware this place looks much nicer than it actually is in the pictures and does not offer the amenities that it claims it does. And the stuff they do offer they stop offering at 8pm Wich is basically useless if you are coming for 1 night. Overpriced for what it is. Upon playing 300$ for one night you also do not get access to the actually Plitvice national park with is another 40 euros per person. Definitely not worth the 300$/night.

We stayed there 2 nights while visiting Plitvice. Great stay and short walking distance to one of the park entrances. Very hospitable, nice & cosy. Relatively small so quite intimate as well.

Restaurant
The restaurant Plitvička Vrela in Rakovica is a great place to eat. The staff are friendly and the food is excellent. They have a big pizza for 3 people which is only 90 kuna, so it's very affordable. The trout is also very good with potatoes and vegetables. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant.
This is the best place to eat insane food and to have an buggy adventure the guides are the best, Don't miss it!! We love it, we come from the Netherlands!! 100% recomend! Att: Nicky and Georgi! 😊❤️

It is located 12 km from the lakes. Nice environment, rooms are perfectly fine. Although the staff fulfilled all our requests, based on what we experienced during our trip, they were not among the nicest, which does not mean that I am devaluing them, but the experiences of the past day brought this to light. The food was delicious. Breakfast is self-service and sufficient. You can only pay for accommodation by cash!

Great food, very yummy seafood, truffle pasta and cevapcici. Nice atmosphere and dog-friendly.

We stopped here to eat after we spent a whole day at Plitvice Lakes and The Food was great! We had Cevapcici, grilled squid, lasagna with meat, pizza Margherita + drinks. The waiter was nice, the food came pretty quick, the food portions are decent and the prices are OK. The total was 50€ for a family of 4. Highly recommend the place for food.

The service is super friendly and helpful which complements the excellent food. We had the lasagne, with meat platter to share and it continues our experience of great food that you think is too much but suddenly the plate is empty and we're all smiling. Thanks Ivan, your mother should be proud!

Day 2

Southwest side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the southwest side side of town. Start the day off with Pećinski park Grabovača, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Viewpoint. All together, your day would be filled with about 8 hours of non-stop fun.

Parks
Pećinski park Grabovača is a must-visit destination in Croatia, offering an amazing experience for nature enthusiasts. Located close to the main highway, it's easily accessible by car and boasts educational trails through the forest and hills, as well as a lookout point. The highlight of the park is the stunning 345-meter-long Samograd cave with a constant temperature of 8°C. Visitors are treated to an informative tour guided by knowledgeable experts who provide insights into the cave's fascinating features.
Very nice and educational place/park with lot of things to see and learn about. Unfortunately we didn't made it into cave (maybe next time), but we managed to take a long circular trail filled with info boards and a viewpoint which must be visited. Price was 6,00 € in the August.

Beautiful and magical! Almost skipped this because you can't see how magnificent it is over photos. Our guide Martina was also very nice and helped a lot with whole experience.
Vice R — Google review
The site is amazing, nice trekking paths around, playground and view point. We came for the cave visit and we bought 2 tickets and the information center, no need to make reservations before your visit. You must walk 650m before reaching the entry of the cave and not a flat path take your time to do this part and the meeting point in downstairs nearby the cave entrance. The guide was ok but she told us she have a big group with Croatian visitors and she will reply to our questions. We felt a little bit disappointed because she did not explain all information to us as the Croatian group, easy to understand the explanation for us were super short. You must take one jacket and one pocket light m, inside the light is not enough and it’s cold. We did lot of visits of caves and this one is big but not very safe and lot of parts are slippery. I don’t recommend this visit with young kids. Price 14 euros per adult in August 8, 2025
Rania S — Google review
Amazing scenery for walks, but the cave itself was a complete surprise: AMAZING. Enormous, a bit scary, badly lit, a lot of stairs (about 400) which may be slippery and steep. Might not be for easily scared kids, older people or for those afraid of heights (Cerovačke caves more appropriate). Looks very 'raw', like a movie set... A bit physically challenging.

The guide was the best part. He did a wonderful job, was knowledgeable, and funny. He had our daughter's full attention, which isn't always easy! We had a random dog join us on the tour, which was rather humorous. My daughter is currently reading The Hobbit and she was thrilled to see the Hobbit hole and fairy village. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because some of the surrounding parts of the park were a little ill kept and run down. The cave itself was good though.

Galovački Buk

4.8
(243)
Galovački Buk is a stunning 25-meter waterfall located in the Upper Lakes of Plitvice Lakes National Park. It is easily accessible from Entrance 1, near lake Galovac, or by taking Entrance 2 for a quicker route. The wooden pathways provide easy access to explore the 12 lakes and various waterfalls in the park. Visitors can also enjoy boat trips on Lake Kozjak and ferry rides to connect different route points.
Galovački Buk is a beautiful national park. It's crystal clear turquoise waters are sandwhiched by it's picturesque rocky hillsides and waterfalls. The park offers many routes of travel depending on the time constraints of those that go to visit. We chose to do the 4-6 hour hike, I jogged through a good portion of it and was able to complete it in under 4 hours. If you stop and smell the flowers, it could take some time. I loved it. It was absolutely beautiful. The paths are wooden planks for the majority of the way. Some travelers were in sandals, even a lady wearing heels, so the path is easily walkable. It is a little pricy at 40€ each adult. But you do pay for the upkeep of the park along with shuttles that include boat rides and trams.
Lisa A — Google review
Beautiful nature. Some foreign tourists often ask, "where are the pumps for all this water?" Like in some big budget movies. Take a little more care when there are too many tourists. In some places the passage is narrow.
King S — Google review
It's a very beautiful place to visit. I would recommend starting with walk B and then doing walk C. I have deducted one star as due to the cost of 40 euros per person that is quite expensive. Also a 2 Euro per hour car park charge. Start early to avoid the queues
Mike C — Google review
This place is a true gem, and you need to see it to believe all its beauty. Despite the fact that the day I visited was rainy, I enjoyed every moment and was fulfilled by being in this natural paradise. The waterfalls, the color of the water, and the surroundings were simply breathtaking. This place has many hiking trails, and they offer ferry boats that can take you from one end to another. Either way you choose, you will not be disappointed.

Its just a parking, but for me its the perfect spot. Small mini beach but this cliff corner with crystal waters made me fall in love. You can access different stair from the cliff and swim sideways🤩only thing ia tricky with the car....small street but 2 ways

Do not try to buy tickets through this machine. The money is debited, but the tickets are not issued. After that, you will be offered to buy them again at the box office and they will say that you just write a letter and they will return them to you, But everything is not so simple, then you will provide all the documents, and the bank and employees will say that nothing happened, they cannot see your payment. And this will go on for weeks.
Andrey C — Google review
Very beautiful. If you’re into nature & hiking I highly. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes I was there for about 6 hrs. Tip: your ticket allows you to take the boats if you don’t want to walk to entire way :) I figured that out at the end 😅

Veliki prštavac

Veliki Prštavac is an incredible destination for a full day of exploration and hiking. The park offers stunning views and is well-organized with convenient transport options such as boats and shuttle trains, as well as ample parking. While the water levels may be lower than usual, the clear waters and beautiful landscape still make it an awesome national park to visit. Visitors can also enjoy capturing picturesque moments at the lined formed for taking pictures.
A must see if you visit Croatia, make the time to come here, its worth it. We did walk K which is the longest but also the quietest and very pleasant walking around the lakes. Its long, about 6 hours but mostly flat and under trees so not a hard walk. One climb up to the viewpoint over the lakes, but its worth it for the view. I would recommend it if you have the time. Just bring lots of drinking water of its hot. Upper and lower falls are both different so hard to say which is better. Lower has spectacular bigger falls while upper you are surrounded by smaller falls everywhere and you see the way it is almost terraced with water cascading down everywhere. Arrive early to beat the tours and buy your tickets in advance to save time. They do enforce the admission time window and dont let people in earlier than ticket time so consider thus when buying your ticket.

Breathtaking. it's a must for anyone who is visiting Croatia. there is alot of walking but you will go from one beautiful site to another. I was amazed at how much beauty is packed in one place. sometimes you see photos of a place but when you visit it can be disappointing. Not here the photos do not do it justice. it's scale and beauty are Breathtaking. My photos are taken through my walk but this is all I posted not all there is to see

I’ve never seen water so colorful -truly amazing. We did the 4–5-hour route with two small kids and managed just fine. There are a few stop-shops along the way, but don’t expect extra entertainment for kids as it’s all about nature. A peaceful, unforgettable experience.

Experience of a lifetime. Do not hesitate to visit this place. Worth time and money. Looks surreal. Personal recommendation: choose H route. Less people at the very beginning and you will go down all the way along with waterfalls. The last part of the route is a bit challenging though.

Beautiful but really crowded every day Huge groups are blocking the ways and views We did the K2 / orange route and it was bit more relaxed after the north part

Veliki Prštavac left me absolutely spellbound. This waterfall is a roaring beauty—its spray reaching into the treetops and wrapping the area in a magical mist. I explored it via Trail E, which offers a lovely mix of boardwalks and boat rides. The journey is less strenuous than some of the longer trails, but still filled with scenic views and peaceful forest stretches. When Veliki Prštavac finally came into view… wow. It felt like nature rolled out the red carpet.
Laurence H — Google review
Plitvička Jezera is absolutely breathtaking! Route H was perfect — around 9 km, 4-6 hours of walking with beautiful views of waterfalls, wooden boardwalks, and crystal-clear lakes. The boat ride across Lake Kozjak was peaceful, and Veliki Slap (the big waterfall) is a must-see! Tip: go early to avoid the crowds and bring good shoes. Totally worth the visit — one of the most beautiful national parks in Europe.

Lake Milanova, unreal turquoise color, 19m deep and 3 hectares in area, is one of the jewels of the Plitvice Lakes. A true refresher for the eyes and encouragement to continue this magical journey. Croatian restaurant
Poljana is a Croatian restaurant that offers fresh fish dishes at reasonable prices. The service is excellent and the atmosphere friendly and relaxing. The location right by the marina makes it perfect for diners looking for a delicious meal without leaving the harbour area.
On our way back from the seaside, we wanted an honest lunch and tasty food in the green environment . A very professional and kind lady offered us a daily menu and also a la carte, which was excellent choice. Fried chicken breast with grilled veggies and ‘basa’ traditional local soft cheese spread and excellent Lical beer from Velebit , minced meat burger ‘pljeskavica’ and wonderful pancakes with vanilla ice cream. I am not a real meat lover, but I ve never tasted such tasty and tender chicken. Nothing too fancy, but very clean and pleasant, like my Mum’s best homemade food. Good value for money, thank you and we’ll be back 🌺🥂!

Had read decent reviews, and saw menu onlinem, so headed here for lunch. The restaurant is divided into two, one side for groups and the other side for self service dining. No items of the online menu were available. Instead you pick up a plate and ask the lady behind the counter to put some food on your plate and pay at the end. Choises are very limited and English communication was poor so we got chicken with mash potatoes, a mixed salad and 2 slices of bread. We were hungry and ate it all but it was bland. Cost 13.5€

Decent sir down dining place in Plitvice lakes. A bit expensive. Portion sizes are small. Service is good. You have to buy bottled water. Vegetarian friendly.
Ramasharan L — Google review
I don’t think the restaurant deserves a 3.8. I was hesitant to eat there. I got there at 2 pm. The lady server was very nice. The cashier was friendly. I ordered the chicken fillet. It was made to order . I got a big portion of vegetables as well . Total was 10 Euros. I ordered take out order. I wasn’t charged for the box as places in Slovenia do. Overall I will give it 5 stars.
Stanley M — Google review
First of all, I didn't get the whole system of the restaurant. They offered self service with 4 different meals but they also had a standard menu which is normal. However, the menu was only on the outside of the building and when I ask them whether they have pancakes they said yes even though that wasn't one of the self service meals. On the other hand when I asked for a grilled meat, they refused to make it and said that I should get a menu and order from that. The whole experience was extremely confusing and I ended up with a hamburger steak (plain burger meat with potatoes) which was greasy and hard to chew.

Visited this restaurant to have some drinks with my trip mates while waiting for others to complete their Plitvice Lake Tour. The staffs are friendly & helpful. I ordered white coffee. It’s just nice to have a cup of hot coffee ☕️ during raining day.

We came here as a group after our walking tour of the lakes, so we were famished. The roasted pork was just right, and served in generous portions. It went well with the house wine.
Mel M — Google review
Fresh fish, wonderful service. Will return. really good value given the position just off the marina. They brought out two types of freshly caught fish, both classed as premium @40€/Kg. We opted for the sea bass which was weighed and a price given before cooking. The waiter even boned it for us at the side of the table (I'm rubbish with this sort of thing). In season I'm guessing this place will be heaving so it would probably be best to book in advance. We walked in at lunch time at the end of April with no issues at all.

Whether you're seeking a casual meal with friends, an intimate dinner, or a professional lunch, this restaurant promises to delight even the most discerning diners. The dedication of the local community to food and hospitality shines through in every aspect, from thoughtfully sourced ingredients to impeccable service.
Lovely restaurant at Plitvice. This was a very rewarding meal after our hike. Forest and meadow mushrooms with leeks, Butternut squash Pastas were surprisingly delightful. Try out the fuzi pasta which is a native Croatian pasta. The freshly squeezed orange juice was pulpy and tasted refreshing!
Vidhyalakshmi V — Google review
We stopped at Black River Steak & Pasta after visiting the Plitvice Lakes National Park, and the location couldn’t be more convenient—just a short walk from the park, making it a great spot for a late lunch. We arrived around 2 PM, and the restaurant was quiet with plenty of seating available. The atmosphere was relaxed, and service was pleasant and timely throughout our meal. Although the full menu wasn’t available during our visit (steaks were limited, with only a large family-style T-bone option offered), we found a few solid choices. I ordered the butternut squash pasta with Croatian fuzi noodles, which came in a fair portion. The sauce was on the lighter side—something to note depending on your preferences—but the dish was still enjoyable. For our 7-year-old daughter, we ordered the pesto pasta. While there’s no dedicated kids’ menu, she appreciated the simple, fresh flavors and the minimal sauce actually worked in her favor. We also tried the chicken stew served over fettuccini noodles, which was hearty and comforting. Overall, Black River offers a solid dining experience with good portion sizes and fresh ingredients. While the limited menu was a bit of a letdown, especially at a steakhouse, what we did try was well-prepared. Given the quality, pricing, and location, I’d rate it a 4 out of 5.

It was cold but we were full. Decided to pop in for coffee. After looking at the menu, we decided to try the goulash. It was done well. Service was great. They did not ask more questions when we ordered just coffee and a goulash. They even provided us with water with our coffee. Despite only 3 service staff to many tables, they were attentive and prompt. Thank you for making it a wonderful and warm dining experience.
