Cowiche Canyon Kitchen & Ice House Bar is a trendy hotspot in downtown Yakima, offering modern twists on American classics and craft cocktails. The establishment is housed in a beautiful building designed by Graham Baba and features an industrial-chic ambiance with board-formed concrete walls. It's known for its spacious and lively setting, including a stylish lounge and patio.
Honestly, this was the best place Ive been to in Yakima yet, I am here twice a year and this was amazing. I have some pretty severe allergies but they were super accommodating and kind and the food was amazing. My only complaint was there wasn’t enough cheese but everything else was perfect! The drinks are also amazing.

I'm a big fan of this place. This year alone, I've eaten there over twenty times. First of all, the service is spot on. Great staff all around and a phenomenal atmosphere. The new menu is not so good. The first picture is the from the old menu of a simple, but delicious baked potato. The second picture is a baked potato off of the new menu. Old baked potato was I believe $8 . New half sized baked potato with a topping is $7. Half the size for almost twice the price. The side salad is very good along with the prime rib dip. The burger, well the menu doesn't even list what the patty is made from. And it was not near as good as the old ones. About the pasta dish. The cast iron pan is a prop. Not only is it not baked in the pan, the pan itself isn't even hot. And for $18 it needs to be presented better because it is quite tasty. Overall the place is still a great venue to have in Yakima, but it could be so much better.

When traveling through Yakima my wife and I try to have dinner at the Cowiche Canyon restaurant. This last Friday evening my wife ordered the Prime Rib Dip sandwich and I had the Crispy Chicken Sandwich. As always, we enjoyed our meal a lot. What makes this experience special is that my wife expected that the horseradish sauce would be on the side and not placed directly on the sandwich when she received it. Because my wife is allergic to horseradish she explained that to the server. Without any argument, they took back the sandwich and replaced it with another without the horseradish in about 5 minutes at no additional cost to us. I consider that very impressive service!
Art S — Google review
The menu changed. I usually love the prawn, avocado salad but this time, it was terrible. Apparently, they don’t chop the lettuce anymore & give you whole brown pieces that taste dirty. I ate my prawns & tossed the rest it was awful. The worst $20 I’ve spent on lunch. I will not be back.
Emily L — Google review
Great spot we would highly recommend when you’re driving through Yakima as we were. Why stop for overpriced fast did when you could have an amazing meal and a break from driving? We feasted and were back on the road in 45 min! Service was great! We had a grilled artichoke stater, hot crispy chicken sandwich and avocado harrisa prawn salad that were all amazing!
Julie L — Google review
We've been here a few times, but it has been a while. We were surprised to see kids menus and amazing kid "boxes" for them to choose from. We will be coming back more often now! They have ample seating but some areas are not open for seating (especially outdoor spaces and the back area)
Jenny S — Google review
Really good food and the service was quick and friendly. They were fairly busy but we had no issues getting great service. The HVAC was broken so it was extremely hot the day that we went.
JW E — Google review
I had the Steak Frites... I ordered the steak med/rare. It was was so incredibly chewy, gritty, so hard to get through. It normally comes with fries, but I swapped them for a side salad. The dressing was very refreshing (a lemon vinaigrette). I wish they wouldn't have put the salad bowl on the steak plate. It soiled the bottom of the bowl with the sauce from the steak so I didn't feel comfortable putting it on the table. If it was served with fries would they have been served in a bowl? I get it would make the plate look smaller but it wasn't a great setup having the salad on the steak plate. Additionally the salad could have been served with a spoon. Impossible to stab with how small a everything was cut. Multiple stabs produced nothing on the end of the fork. I had a Mtn Adam, which could have been good but a bit too much bitters. Bitters overpowered the rye whisky and even the amaro. Overall service was great, atmosphere was superb, the food was lacking. Certainly not worthy of the price point.

Bar & grill
Restaurant
Second Street Grill is a stylish bar and grill located in downtown Yakima, offering a diverse menu of elevated American classics and brews. The restaurant features a dog-friendly patio with misters to keep diners comfortable during hot summers, making it a great spot for families and picky eaters. It's also an ideal breakfast spot on Sundays before heading to the Downtown Farmers Market just blocks away. With its contemporary yet welcoming atmosphere, Second Street Grill is perfect for a night out with friends.
The birria nacho appetizer was flavorful and the highlight was the fresh cut jalapeños. If you prefer your clam chowder with bacon and a hint of smoke flavor, this one is for you, The Italian grinder sandwich was tasty with quality meat however, a little more quantity would’ve taken it over the top. Fresh cut fries and a better quality ketchup would really set them apart. The old fashioned was smooth and balanced. Overall, a great experience and we will return.

Looking for someplace to feed and have a drink, my wife and I called around for reservations and everything was booked till 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. So we decided let's just drive by and see what's in the bar. This bar was so big we were able to immediately get a table and order our food and drinks. I ordered the bring a tacos which ended up any more than I had anticipated. I had five tacos! My wife ordered the shrimp and grits which we did end up swapping plates. It was a real good portion and I did the heavy lifting and pretty much finished it. Great atmosphere found at all considering it was college football day. I will definitely go back.
Don B — Google review
Great beer selection, good service. Tasty good. We cleaned our plates. The steak was cooked well, ask ordered. The potato and the steak could have been a little more seasoned, but still very good food and service. We might be back if back through Yakima.

You definitely need to check this place out!! Yum!! Absolutely on point with service, food, drinks and atmosphere. We had the short ribs and halibut with cheesecake for dessert.

This is your average 4 star restaurant. My ribs were more like a roast. My wife's food was good but not memorable. Place was very busy and close to closing, but the staff was very friendly, welcoming and fast. I believe our waitress was Belle (?) and she did a great job checking on us and bringing our food. The food was very presentable. Overall, 4 stars nails it. Yes, I'd try it again, but I would order something besides the beef.
Casey D — Google review
The place was nice, clean and inviting. The service was good, our server was nice. The burger was somewhat basic but at least mine was well cooked and I enjoyed it well enough. The fries were not my favorite, crispy enough but not the greatest flavor. As travelers it was nice to find a place we could eat that was nice enough and had good charm as it is in an older cool building.

The food was awesome and the waiter was really nice. Also the food didn't take super long to get to us. Would definitely go again if I visited near there.

2025.01.20 First Time Visiting Wow. Really hit the road-trip-crave-of-food-craves spot. Ordered up the clam chowder bowl as an appetizer. Rich. Creamy. Nice, big serving (12 oz). Tons of bacon bits. Rich enough that I changed my mind about having a burger and fries. Opted instead for street tacos with shrimp and the aioli on the side. Delicious! Oh, how I've missed cilantro (husband is "allergic" to it so I seldom ever get to have it). But the flavors transported me back to my Mexican food truck days of my college years in CA. Tons of chips, plus plenty of tacos to fill me up. The shrimp was juicy and I liked it that the corn tortillas had soaked up some of the juices. Husband had the Grill Burger with regular fries and swapped out the raw onions with caramelized onions. He gave his meal an enthusiastic two thumbs up. Atmosphere is great. High-end sports bar style. Lots of booth and table seating options. The brick walls are the original walls from the 1800s. Place was close to fully packed when we got here at 12:15 PM on a holiday (for most) Monday. Our server, Bella, was wonderful. Kind. Patient. Attentive.

Capitol Theatre is a restored venue that showcases various forms of performing arts including plays, ballets, and concerts featuring the Yakima Symphony Orchestra. The theater's historic charm and grandeur make it an ideal place to catch a show. While there may be some challenges for those with mobility issues due to the presence of stairs, overall, there are no bad seats in this beautiful theater. It offers a cool and unique experience for anyone looking to take in a performance.
The best concert ever. House was rocking and rolling. Absolutely fabulous concert. Elton John tribute ♥️

Absolutely excellent Yakima Valley, Washington State Gem! The theatre is beautiful! The box office was nice and efficient! The staff everywhere was great! The bar situation, however, needs improved because the lines were too long. Still a 5 star venue based on the area and all other fairness considered.
Palatehacker — Google review
Forth Street Capital Theater is great and a much better place to watch shows than the old Capital Theatre. The seating is much better and you can see the performance much easier. There is a lot of interaction with the performers and the audience. I would prefer the 4th Street Theatre any day.
Tonja H — Google review
Beautiful old theatre with nice bas reliefs. Staff welcoming and helpful. The bar had a nice solution for bringing beverages into the seating area - purchase a sippy cup! Seats a bit small but then I am not a small person. Parking across the street was free.

The Capitol Theatre is like a light house in the Yakima Valley and I would recommend anyone go to a show there! Whether you like classical music, ballet, education talks, or comedy shows the capitol theater has it all! The only downfall is that the wheelchair seating is quite limited but staff is very friendly and willing to assist. The theatre does a great job at curating a variety of talents and something for everyone. Highly highly recommend taking the time to experience the beauty and entertainment that this location has to offer!

Absolutely love the architecture and design of the facility. Stunning venue to hear and witness a performance. Staff were friendly and helpful, full of stories and history. Would have loved to spend more time there.

Excellent experience. Very nice heritage theater. Parking is the only problem. Especially with popular events. Unfortunately, this has been a problem for many years. The city of Yakima just can't seem to figure it out.

Great place for awards ceremony. The cayetef food was delicious. Real upscale night time social atmosphere. Minimum engagement with the staff but the people at the door were friendly... This event was hosted by the Yakima Herald News Paper. Beautiful ceiling arrangement that hung down that gave the eyes something lovely to gaze upon while tracking up the spiral feeling stairs. Nice place!

The park also boasts walking and biking tracks along the Yakima River, providing opportunities to enjoy nature.
Peaceful green park, with a lake and wetland nearby. It is an excellent choice of detour at this point from Yakima Greenway trail along the river. Far view to highway, and further to Mt Rainer (although half blocked by hills). At the south, a wetland with a small pond/lake living birds and flowers.

One of my favorite paved trails in Yakima! It’s right in town but takes you along a wide paved path with water along the way. The view of the mountains are perfect. I feel very safe walking here and the others have been respectful of dogs walking. This trail goes to the Arboretum so you can walk and visit that as well!

State Fair Park, also known as Central Washington State Fairgrounds, is the site of the annual state fair and hosts year-round concerts and events in an 8,000-seat arena. The park features the Yakima Valley SunDome and has been a significant community gathering place. Additionally, it houses the Yakima Area Arboretum and Botanical Garden which spans 46 acres showcasing over 1,000 native and exotic plant species.
2025 Vintiques. My first time at this 53rd annual Northwest Nationals show. The atmosphere was fantastic. The staff members were knowledgeable and friendly.

The fair is going down hill, while the prices are going uphill. Adults (ages 13-64) Monday-Thursday: $14.50. Adults (ages 13-64) Friday-Sunday: $16.00. Youth (ages 6-12): $9.50. For weekend wrist bands $45. One game costs around $10. It's a luxury to go to the fair now. For two jalopeno poppers, $14! Ridiculous! Curly fries in the brick $13.75. Pizza slice & drink $20. Corn dogs $10. Cotton candy $10. Sundola $12 for 2 people. We did manage to find an soft serve ice cream cone for $3 by the animal barns. During the week the fair doesn't open until 2pm! It's odd. Way less vendors than previous years. No animal petting stations. No exotic animals. The deals are during the week, when people are working. So they expect people to take off time from work (lose money) to spend money, to get in, pay for parking and everything else they want to get. It's crazy. It's crazy to me that vendors are not allowed tips. It's odd that vendors cannot set their own pricing and the fair sets it for them. It's ridiculous, especially when it costs them over $1k for a spot at the fair AND they have to share a percentage of their profits with the fair. The new manager of the fair is ruining, what use to be a family tradition. It's a luxury event now.
Trisha P — Google review
We had so much fun at the fair this year! Two full days hardly felt like enough time to see all the exhibits and everything else that there was to see. Food prices were pretty ridiculous but everything else was great!
Liz C — Google review
Yakima Fair 2023 I paid $183.50 for 5 bracelets which includes unlimited rides same rides every year I'd have to say they definitely need to lower the prices for the games as nobody was playing those cause they are a separate fee from the bracelets I feel like there should be included the food is very expensive I highly suggest bringing a cold chest in your car because it is way overpriced my children had a blast here we rode every ride and since it's one time a year I feel like it's worth it to get the bracelets cause if you buy the tickets it's about five tickets per ride. It gets very busy at night so I suggest to go on a day during the week and just keep your kids home as there was hardly any lines as you can see from my photos.
Lela P — Google review
Loved the experience! Went with my adult daughter. Got a day pass for rides and the Sundola. With entrance (Demo Derby and Fair) and food, spent about $250. Expensive but what isn't in Washington State these days.
Dave E — Google review
Parking is terrible. More handicap parking needed. More bathrooms needed. Entire grandstands need to be replaced. The seating area upstairs are dirty. A good pressure wash could have been used to make it usable with little children let alone their parents. I loved foods, rides, events & people. But without rethinking the parking mess, replacing the grandstands that will attack more with a modern design & added restrooms, I will not be going back.

Total waste of my time. Not only did the sign out front say Seniors 65+ and kids under 5 are FREE! They still charged me $12.00 to get in ( my attorney is gonna love this one ) and after being there only 30 mins, I walked out and left! Don't even waste your time going to this one, there's no State Fair about it, it's more like you went , well I'll leave it at that! Do the math. Read between the lines. Some of you will get this and others won't.

Restaurant
Yakima Antojitos Mexicanos is a beloved spot in Yakima's vibrant culinary landscape, known for its extensive menu of traditional Mexican dishes served in a casual setting. This colorful eatery has been a favorite among locals for years, offering hearty meals that are rich in flavor. Diners can indulge in an array of options, from classic tacos filled with various meats like pork and grilled beef to vegetarian burritos brimming with rice and fresh vegetables. Seafood lovers will also appreciate the garlic shrimp dish.
I love that upon sitting down you are immediately served with six different delicious salsas and tortilla chips. Great cost, plenty of options, will be back again and again. Pambazo with potatoes was fantastic.

Having a selection of 6 salsas at the table really took the meal to the next level.
Garrett S — Google review
When you travel across the United States as often as I do, and eat everywhere, you know when you’ve found the best. Antojitos Mexicanos is simply the best authentic Mexican food I have eaten in the states, there is no close second. What to expect: Antojitos is situated on the main drag of Yakima, WA in an area I never expected to find the best Mexican food. I spent some time in the area a couple years ago and ended up eating here weekly, absolutely the best Mexican food experience anywhere close. The area provides great camping, hiking and is a main hub for overlanders passing through on the Washington back country discovery route. About the food: When you sit down you are greeted very well and receive house made chips which are absolutely amazing. I usually ask for seconds… for chips. The chips are accompanied by 6 intellectually different delicious salsas. My favorite is the tomatillo. I ordered Sopes with lengua. The lengua is absolutely to die for. With the tender flavorful lengua topped with fresh lettuce, fresh diced tomatoes, sour cream and white Mexican cheese it’s a quite the combination. You will mark this one in the map for “wholly cow so good” places to eat. What I love about this place is the humble demeanor of everyone here. There’s family in the dining area and family in the kitchen. You are having a family meal with these fine folks. The food is much more than The Typical Tourist would expect. Do not pass on this incredible Mexican diner when I Yakima.

SubShop of Yakima is a sandwich restaurant located at 20 N 2nd St, Yakima, WA 98901. From classic options like ham and salami to more adventurous choices such as steak and peppers or egg salad, SubShop of Yakima has something for everyone.
This is an archetypal sub sandwich shop, a classic right here in Yakima. They are excellent! I recommend sticking to traditional sandwiches like your BLT, turkey, ham, salami, pastrami, tuna, and so on. You can't go wrong with those.

My wife and I love sandwiches and we're very eager to give this place a try! We loved the variety of their menu, and all the unique sandwich options they have. We ordered 4 different half sandwiches to try and sample some of the ones that sounded good. I had the chicken cordon blue and the saucy Tom, and my wife had the hawaiian and the TPC. It ended up costing 41 dollars, and I hate to say this but if it was even half the cost I'd still be disappointed. Their ingredients were so lackluster and they skimp so hard on the fillings. The bread was very bland, and so was the rest of the sandwich. I feel bad because we were excited to be able to enjoy some local sandwiches vs your typical fast food subs, but you'd be better off with Jimmy John's or jersey Mike's any day. Heck even subway has more value and they're like 16 dollars for a foot long. The servers were ok, they seemed like they couldn't care less about being there but they weren't rude, and the place itself was cute with some fun art inside, but it's a shame you'd only go for the sandwiches.

We were passing through town looking to get a deli type sandwich that was not Subway. This place had great review so we decided to give it a try. Our subs were amazing. First time coming here for myself but my husband has raved about this place for years as it is close to where he works. I met him here for lunch while I was on jury duty (great location for this!) the wk of April 14th. The sandwich was fine but honestly, it was really hard to enjoy because I had watched the guy with a full-on, lumberjack-type beard make/prepare our order without a beard net on. Just all of his beard hair literally inches right over the food. Because of this, I will not bother coming back as I can only assume this is normal and since I pointed this out to my husband, I would be surprised if he does either. Others may not care if beard/facial hair is covered but I do.

Well, I went into Jimmy John’s here in downtown Yakima expecting some good service and a great meal. I got neither. The crew behind the counter acted like a bunch of kids giggling and looking at each other. My 6 inch BLT was missing the tomato. So anyway the bun, the bread was hard and it looked like it was shrunk. It looked like the circumference of a 3 inch piece of steel, which is like really small. Even smaller when you don’t get the tomatoes.

Employees were less than friendly, keep in mind the base sandwich only have 2oz of meat on them, so 2 pieces. I ordered the unwich, and was pretty disappointed. It definitely needed salt and pepper but they have none. The cheese was flavorless as well as the one tomato slice. The person I was with had a regular sandwich and they had much more meat, cheese and tomato. However it still needed some salt and pepper but none available. They said the bread is good. Overall I won't return.

Have to share this experience I just had. I ordered my sandwich with avocado. And then I went through the sandwich and didn't see any. Which normally I can open it and see it clearly. I told them that I didn't get any avocado After I took a bite at the table. I went to tell them I didn't get any avocado. If they can give me a side. She told me bring the sandwich back so we can remake. I said I don't need it to be made again. Just give me on the side. She said. Well I have to see if your lying. And then I said. So your going to go through my sandwich? Then she went through every slice every lettuce and said. Here I found it! ;)...I'm like oh yeah I see that sliver of avocado now...hahaa...sorry I missed it. But you just picked through through each little piece of my whole sandwich. No. I don't think I want that anymore..sadly. next time I'll be sure to go through each crevice to make sur I didn't miss it. Thank you Jimmy John's for the great experience!

We had sandwiches for take out that were for lunch the next day. I had the double roast beef which was delicious. I love the bread and options at Jimmy Johns. The stores need a rethink. A lot of the signs that were probably created 10-20 years ago are quite tone deaf to today’s society and some simply belittle people. I don’t see the need and it’s put me off. I’m not sure I will be back.
T N — Google review
Horrible, will NEVER order from here again. Took them 30 min to deliver 1st if all. They don’t toast their sandwiches and they don’t give you the option to select that you want it toasted via the app or online website, and when you call to place and order via phone no one picks up EVER!! The sandwich was nothing like what I ordered and tasted horrible and was really cold. Lacked substance. I took a few bits and threw the rest away as it was disgusting. Next time I’ll order from subway!!!!!
A V — Google review
Not crazy fast. Not only did it take over 30 min for them to deliver but it was lacking in substance. I was less than one mile away from the store! The manager said that everything is measured, but I doubt it. I've ordered from them before and it's never turned out like this. Very disappointed.

I ordered a #7 Spicy Italian and all I have to say is I shouldn’t have to order extra hot peppers to get a regular amount of hot peppers on my sandwich. I mean it is called a spicy Italian for a reason…

I really enjoyed the shrimp Alfredo and my wife had the soup, salad and bread. It’s always an easy choice and give you a lot of variety. The staff was super friendly and made for a nice experience.

We sat in the bar area for faster seating, it was fine. I usually love me some Olive Garden 🫒 but this night, there were too many onions in the salad. I could only taste those and peppercinies. The waitress gave me a salad to go to make up for it - excellent! I didn't get another salad because the food was already coming to the table and I was over the salad for the time being. 🙃 I had the Tour of Italy 🇮🇹 It was good, but I decided on taking most of mine home, we had a rough long day. The staff was courteous and helpful. The meal was even better the next day! TY

We got kinda scared when we walked in due to a couple leaving and complaining about the service. We got seated right away. Our servers name was James. He was very pleasant and onto of our needs. Even before we knew we needed. The food was absolutely scrumptious. Will definitely travel from The Dalles Or. again to eat here. Thank you James for making our visit a pleasant one.

Olive Garden is dependable. I got their pasta special with angel hair pasta and spicy three meat sauce. The pasta was cooked correctly and the sauce very tasty. I've always loved their salad and breadsticks and they did not disappoint. I wouldn't consider it fine dining but the service and food were excellent, the portion size generous and satisfying. It's a chain restaurant so the atmosphere isn't fabulous but it's comfortable.

We went for endless pasta & we got lemonades, Alfredo dipping sauce, soup & salad. Our server was Josh, he did okay at getting our order then pretty much neglected us after our whole order was out. My fiance was still finishing her main dish while I was waiting for our server to come by, so I could refill my pasta, to try a different one since it was endless & ask for a refill on my one drink that I finished before the main dish came out. Josh was 2 tables over & chatted with the customer about his partner for at least 20+ mins. Which at that time my fiance said she was full & wanted to take it home. The server still didn't check on us until he was done chatting with the customer at which point I felt so neglected that I just wanted to leave & not even bother to place an order to go. I just wanted to get away from the horrible service we received. My fiance & I come here at least 1-2 times a month for date night & he made it very unpleasant to deal with it, I should've told the manager or asked for a different server but again, I just wanted to pay my $75 & leave..

I'm from BC, so I've never had Olive Garden. This is clearly the American version of an Italian restaurant. The food is nothing compared to what I had in Italy, but it was still nice to experience this restaurant. We had the salmon, salad, soup, breadsticks, and celery-artichoke dip. I like the endless servings of salad, soup and breadsticks, on top of being able to add as much parmesan as we want on the salad.
Marcus X — Google review
Was craving some Italian. So myself, husband and daughter decided to come in when our previous plans fell through. Michael sat us. She was very nice. Took our drink order and appetizers. Brought that out, she took our dinner order. She was very kind and very on top of all our needs. Super chatty and caring. Food was good. We were clearly hungry because we ordered way more than we could even eat. Had a lot to take home. Haha. Establishment was clean, and cool which was very nice since we are from the Westside. Was definitely hot so the cool was great. Would come back to this location. :)

Italian restaurant
Zesta Cucina is a popular Italian restaurant that offers upscale steak and seafood dinners in a welcoming atmosphere. The bistro has a well-planned layout, with a focus on delicious Italian cuisine. Each season, the culinary team creates a new menu that represents different regions of Italy, giving diners something new to try. Despite some mixed experiences with the hostess, there are attentive servers who receive praise for ensuring that customers' glasses are never empty.
Food was soooo good. I’d like to specifically note that the chicken breast was made to perfection. Very well seasoned and some of the juiciest chicken I have had in a while. The drinks were great and the service was top tier (: highly recommend going here! They take reservations (:
Jillian B — Google review
Zesta Cucina is a gem in Yakima! From the moment we walked in, we felt relaxed and welcomed. The ambience is inviting, and the staff—both hostesses and servers—were genuinely friendly and encouraging. We tried a variety of dishes and everything was spot-on. My wife and I split a summer salad with fresh strawberries and blueberries—light, flavorful, and perfectly portioned. We also ordered their signature bread, which has a small charge ($2.25) but was fresh, warm, and absolutely delicious. Our daughter described her chopped salad as protein-packed, light, and refreshing. Our son’s Alaskan halibut was tender and flavorful. Our grandson loved his zippy noodles (kids menu) with Parmesan, broccoli, and mandarin oranges—he cleaned his plate! Overall, Zesta Cucina combines great food, great service, and a great vibe. We’ll definitely return next time we’re in town.
Chris N — Google review
There was nothing wrong with the food or the service; in fact, the food was properly prepared and served, and our server was professional, friendly, and had excellent sales skills. The other staff members were also busy all the time. However, my issue with this restaurant lies in the menu. It reflects the stereotypical misconceptions about Italian food, offering an American-Italian concept that lacks authenticity. Additionally, they have a Taco Tuesday? The restaurant positions itself as somewhat fine dining, but it has more characteristics of a diner than a fine dining establishment. There is white paper on top of the white tablecloth. The utensils, glasses, and cocktails also lack quality. Furthermore, the ambiance is inconsistent and doesn't create a cohesive dining experience. They have decorations and lights that give off a holiday vibe throughout the year, featuring elements from various cultures, along with gaudy flowers draped from the ceiling. I believe this is a bit overwhelming for anyone with good taste, and when paired with the lackluster menu, it made me less enthusiastic about enjoying my dining experience.

We had a lovely Friday night dinner with my mother in law. I had a chicken fettuccine and my wife enjoyed a steak salad. The food and service was better than average (not the absolute best Italian I have had but good) and we all really loved the atmosphere. Our servers were attentive and pleasant. All in all it was a nice place for dinner.

So many gluten free foods! I heard a rumor (no idea if it's true!) but that Zesta's was purchased by the same people who own The Ellensburg Pasta Company and I know pasta company has a full gluten free menu. My boyfriend and I stopped by this weekend and I was so excited to see that there have been many gluten free options added to Zesta's menu. Very happy to have these options!

I’ve been coming here for the last 15 years and I’ve never had this bad of service. It took our waitress 15-20 min to even greet our table, and when she did she only came back once more to bring us our bread we asked for when we ordered. We received the bread when we were almost done with our food. Our water didn’t get refilled until dessert. She was more focused on other tables and we had to stack our own dishes to make it obvious we were done. The food is delicious but the new ownership should take note.
Holly M — Google review
We love this place and usually the food is outstanding. Last night I tried the scampi. There was so much lemon squeezed on it that it was inedible. Lemon is not mentioned in the menu for this item. Chefs everywhere, if it’s not on the menu, don’t put it on the food! Please!
Kathy L — Google review
I’ve had a few great experiences here, so it’s a bummer to have to leave this poor review. I ordered two of the same cocktail at this bar last night, and requested an upgrade from the well bourbon. The first drink was great. Second one, I watched them do some strange stuff from my seat at the bar. They appeared to be cutting the whiskey I ordered. They smelled and tasted it before they decided together that the drink was finished. Sure enough, the drink tasted like gasoline. When I gave them the chance to fix the mistake and pointed out that the second drink was not the same as the first, the bar tender pretended like nothing was off, and offered to add more bitters or maybe some sugar to the drink. No thanks, won’t be coming back.

Los Hernández Tamales is a renowned tamale shop in Union Gap, just a short drive from Yakima. Founded by Felipe Hernandez, this spot has gained widespread recognition, including a James Beard award and the Americas Classics accolade. The tamales are made with care using a family recipe and high-quality locally sourced ingredients. They offer classic chicken and pork tamales year-round, as well as seasonal varieties like the popular asparagus tamale with pepper jack cheese.
1st visit and won't be my last! Ordered pork, chicken and asparagus. Sooooo delish! Absolutely recommend!
Tracy H — Google review
I got the chicken tamales. For me they were okay, for a tourist or non-latin person they might be more than okay. They were fresh, warm and moist. When you taste homemade tamales and see the corn getting grinded before your eyes it's hard to find good tamales anywhere else. The rice and beans was nothing to brag about. Plain Jane beans.
Asiel G — Google review
I read about how this is such an amazing tamale place, along with the James Beard award, which made me want to stop in when I was doing work in Yakima for the week. I called ahead and asked about frozen tamales and was treated very well and the lady on the phone was helpful and nice. I got there and the service was very much the same. I ordered a dozen frozen chicken tamales to go and a couple chicken hot for there. The ones I had in person were just kind of average tamales. Nothing to make me amazed. I’m not sure if it was just an off day but they were a little on the dry side and not even fully hot, so I’m not sure if they had just sat and then were plated? They weren’t bad they just were ok. I’m excited to try the ones I picked up frozen. But kind of sad the fresh ones were kind of boring. Maybe if I had done the asparagus ones, that would have been a different story since they were hyped up.
Missy L — Google review
We stop at this place for the lunch every time we pass through the Yakima area. A few years, they won the James Beard award for their tamales. The beans are also excellent. There are only two or three tables inside, but there's a nice city park about three blocks away with restrooms. Staff who work here are very friendly. They usually have frozen tamales for you to take home.

Pepper Jack and Asparagus tamales. Soo good. Super friendly and vegetarian options. They have a freezer so you can grab some for later. Stopping on the way back for more.
Austin H — Google review
If you are passing through Yakima or Union Gap. I would highly recommend stopping by and enjoying the best pork, chicken or asparagus/pepperjack tamales.
Mel P — Google review
As a winner of the James Beard “America’s Classics” award, a restaurant has to be family-owned, operating for over a decade, and serve “quality food that reflects the character of its community.” Los Hernandez seems to check all of those boxes. The interior was cute and homey, and tamales were delicious. I got the lunch combo with asparagus and pepperjack tamales and felt that the texture of the asparagus was an excellent replacement for meat. The masa had great moisture and texture too. It was a bit expensive and I felt like the salsa quantity provided was too little, but otherwise a great experience.
Anna — Google review
The tamales are pretty good, but not worth the crazy level of hype. The "restaurant" is pretty inhospitable. There's no rest room, and the air conditioning blasts hard directly on the table seating. How did this place get the accolades?

Nestled in the heart of Yakima County, Yakima Sportsman State Park is a stunning 247-acre oasis that offers a delightful escape from the arid plains surrounding it. Originally established in 1940 and transitioned to state management in 1956, this park features stocked ponds perfect for fishing enthusiasts and ample picnic areas ideal for family gatherings. Visitors can enjoy camping at its expansive campground or embark on scenic hikes along well-maintained trails that wind through picturesque landscapes.
Beautiful campground with full hook ups. Lots of grass and shade due to the sprinkler system. George was very friendly when we arrived. Must check in before dark. Nice trails around the park. We did come across a "homless" camper with lots of bikes near his tent. He was friendly, there are notices to lock up bikes.

Nice state park in Yakima that provides access to many great breweries, wineries, and hiking. I recommend Yakima Public House East for a beer or glass of wine. (eh on their food). FHU for the site I was in (#15 PT) but the pads are very narrow. (maybe 10' but seemed more like 8') Many of them had tree roots that have begun to alter the asphalt but not so bad you couldn't get level. The wind does blow in Yakima, so any trees overhead will provide a cacophony of nightly music on your RV. Most of the PT sites have dried grass and debris that will infiltrate your camper unless you have a doormat or rug. All sound negative but just setting the bar low so it will be more impressive for the next camper. It was a nice stop and would stay again. Recommendations for food and drink. Crafted, Gilbert Cellars, Bale Breaker, and Triveri Cellars (Sparkling)

Yakima has so many beautiful hikes, it is definitely a wonderful place to visit for an extended weekend. My favorite tends to be the trail that runs along the river, but it connects with Yakima Sportsman State Park too. Make sure you bring plenty of water and some good walking shoes!

As far as campgrounds located within town, this place can't be beat. Clean facilities, well maintained landscape, quiet. There is some road noise, but its pretty minimal and didn't disturb anyone in my group.
Shaun B — Google review
DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU HAVE LARGER THAN 35’ RV! Low hanging branches caught my a/c, scratched the sides. No room to maneuver. There was no map and the park has no directions. Then I find out there is no water - this is a full hookup site. They never said a word until I was in the site. If you are a tent camper or have a small trailer it is a maybe. Be aware there are no showers and no toilet paper. No grass - all dead. Would never come back. I would have left if there was any other option.
James L — Google review
We stayed at this park for three nights. What a lovely piece of land it is with nice spreads of green grass and plenty of shade trees. Unfortunately, the park apparently tolerates homeless people and drug addicts. There were several RVs that did not look functional and seemed to have been there longer than the two week limit, judging from the old tires and other junk in the sites. A couple spots had tent campers with their belongings and trash strewn carelessly about. The people in those sites looked pretty rough, and I saw one person hunching over lighting something to smoke that was not a cigarette. The showers were locked in the morning. We'd hoped to take a shower before we had to leave at around 8:30 a.m., but the doors were still locked. Later in the day, the showers were occupied and you could smell cigarette smoke coming out of them and we heard a can of something being opened inside. Our site was not disturbed while we were gone during the day, but we were a little worried about it, and were sure to take all of our important belongs with us. We did see a sheriff's vehicle and also a park ranger cruising through several times, so the park is being patrolled at least. We were looking forward to hiking over to the Yakima river, but the area between the campground and the river has been deemed unsafe because of fire damage allegedly caused by illegal camp fires. We hope these problems can be reversed. The Yakima Sportsman State Park has too much going for it to be abandoned to people who don't want to live in civilized society.

Visitors can enjoy a leisurely 1.5 mile walk through the arboretum, which features tree labels for educational purposes. The well-maintained park also includes a small pond and connects with other nearby parks for extended walks.
Such a great visit to the Arboretum. Such a well taken care of place for a good stroll. The staff in the main building was so kind and accommodating. In the rain with the fall colors it was a beautiful late afternoon walk. I am impressed at the collection they have. This would be a constant visit for me if I was local. I could see it being a fun place to host a birthday or special event. And of course plenty of space I could imagine the kids could burn some good energy off.

Out of all the places I enjoy photographing senior pictures, portraits, and group photos the arboretum has to be one of my favorite venues! Randall Park is a delightful oasis that offers a plethora of activities for visitors of all ages. Nestled in Yakima, this park features scenic walking paths lined with trees, providing ample shade for those looking to enjoy some exercise or simply take a leisurely stroll. Families will appreciate the expansive playground, which boasts an impressive play structure complete with multiple slides, rope bridges, and climbing elements that are sure to keep kids entertained for hours.
Randall Park is a great park that is safe for kids with two different play structures (one for the toddlers, the other for the older kids). The park is also flanked by a fresh water pond and it’s a great place for birding! I saw Widgeons, House Sparrows, Red-winged blackbirds, and mourning doves (heard only). During the colder winter and spring months, there is only porta potty access, but when the weather warms up, the bathrooms open up again. It’s a great place for families, birders, those with dogs, and if you need a little exercise and need to walk a few laps around the park. It’s a very lovely park with a lot of free and easy parking.

This park has a huge play structure that is very interesting and intricate. Yeah this structure is huge. Four slides, tons of rope bridges, rope tunnels, bars, and other random things to climb on. And then on top of that there is a smaller Play structure a little bit to the side of the huge play structure. Sorry guys, I didn't really check that one out too much. My daughter was having too much fun on the big one and it was getting late, so we had to go.

Went for an early morning walk here on a date. Couldn't have been past 6am. Very beautiful and peaceful. Only complaints are the pond is disgusting, and the sprinklers were on in the walkways. Still gorgeous to watch the sunrise. Didn't mind walking through the sprinklers, gave us a laugh. But noticed there were runners and people exercising that had to go out of their way to avoid the water. I do realize early mornings are the best time to water the lawns so to be expected I guess. Maybe make it so the sprinklers dont hit the walkways? Idk seems it could be done but we didnt mind. Ill be back with my son in the early morning to feed the ducks.

Must try if you're in town and looking for a locally owned restaurant with great steak! I had a medium t-bone steak 12 oz which included a side salad with homemade ranch dressing (or you could choose the clam chowder), fries and I requested gravy on the fries since seeing another review with this. It was absolutely delicious and the great service made it all the better. Definitely try their salad seasoning salt at the table on top of the ranch!

Fast food restaurant
Arctic Circle is a local fast-food chain known for its Black Angus burgers, halibut sandwiches, milkshakes, and fries. Visitors have praised the quality of the food, particularly the juicy and tender burgers and fantastic fish. The service has been described as top-notch, although some were disappointed with the processed taste of certain shakes. Despite its unassuming appearance, this eatery offers great prices and amazing food. Some recommended menu items include onion rings and fry sauce.
This place is a classic! We went for the shakes, but we couldn't resist getting a burger combo with fries and cheese curds. The shakes were as expected - thick and creamy - full of flavor. The fry sauce is classic and hit the spot. Full disclosure - we went through the drive thru, so some of the service and atmosphere scores will reflect that, but the drive thru crews was great! I recommend that you stop by this Pacific Northwest classic burger joint!

Probably my favorite place to get a burger. Having an employee with zero personality wearing a mask as their front person? Not the best idea. Touching your dirty mask you've been breathing into all day and handing customers cups, food, etc., is pretty gross. Please rethink this practice.

I truly don’t understand how this place has this good ratings. I guess people are OK with subpar service and overpriced crap. I bought a fish sandwich and a small order of cheese curds and paid almost $17. No drink mind you. The sandwich had no flavor, hardly any tartar sauce, the lettuce was extremely wilted and should’ve been tossed days ago, and then I had to pay extra for some ranch which was only filled maybe halfway in the cup. I’m very disappointed and angry for paying these outrageous prices for crap.

Used the drive-thru to get something to eat. I had a coupon, that a presented to them as I was paying but I discovered after getting home that they didn't apply the coupon and charged me full price. I called and spoke with the shift supervisor but was told that there was nothing that she could do for me and that I'd have to wait until Monday and call back to speak with her boss once he gets back in. What good is a shift supervisor if they can't resolve a situation like this!

This was a great experience. I haven't been to a Arctic Circle in 20 year's and finding out this was here was well worth the 2 1/2 hour drive to share the experience of eating here with my kid's as my parent's and grand parent's did with me. The restaurant was very clean inside and out, the staff was very happy, friendly and looked like they liked their job. Okay so on to the food. The food was great and just as I remembered it ( maybe a little different but still about the same 😁 ), it came out hot and fresh with the drinks being ice cold. If you are in town and looking for a good place to grab a quick bite then I strongly would recommend going here especially since there aren't many Arctic Circle restaurants around anymore. P.S. Please make sure to try ( What I call it ) the Arctic Circle sauce. It is amazing on the burgers and fries alike.

It was VERY expensive for what we got. The place isn't the cleanest and the girl at the counter was clearly new so I don't want to be harsh but she had no personality whatsoever. She doesn't have any decent customer service skills and couldn't make my daughter's plain vanilla ice cream cone.

Mexican restaurant
Latin American restaurant
The owners of Salsita Antojitos Mexicanos have made the decision to decline orders from food delivery services such as Grub Hub, DoorDash, and Uber Eats. This choice stems from numerous issues encountered with drivers and how these companies handle the ordering process. Salsita Antojitos Mexicanos is known for its unique approach of serving plain food and allowing customers to customize their meals according to their preferences.
delicious tacos and soup! you know a place is authentic if you can't find English on the special menu, love their beef soup, beef tongue, pork skin, intestines, and of course horchata!
Karen C — Google review
3 stars because just like Google says; "It's ok". Didn't taste magical like some of the other mexican places in Yakima and the cheese quesadilla was incredibly small. The one dish that was really tasty was the pollo sopa (chicken soup), although pricey, it was very flavorful. I'd go back again if I had a cold and wanted some soup, but I'll find my fix for tacos and burritos somewhere else.

I came here when I was a lot younger, and the food experience blew my tiny mind. For years the spicy salsa lit my tongue on fire from the memory. Sadly, the name and the location of salsita was lost. Until today! After 8 years, I’m excited to day the food lived up to the hype I have given it. restaurant is a must visit.
Kell B — Google review
My experience was in the past & I never went back, when I moved here several years ago. The food was ok, I didn't like how the owner treated his staff members. He was very rude. I asked for an extra cup for salsa for my to go order and they acted like I was taking a bowl full!! When I ordered I said I wanted extra salsa, so just in case they charge extra, funny thing is if you dine in you can eat as much as you want.
Christina P — Google review
Worst customer service ever!!! They actually don't know what that means. My mom nearly got crucified for asking the owner which food was least greasy, she has a medical condition. The owner quickly replied none of our food is greasy! We never cook with grease. How can you operate a business as an OWNER & not answer a simple question without having a rude response. Customer service and professionalism go a long way when running an establishment.

This was one of (if not THE) first place in Yakima to have a restaurant featuring street tacos and authentic Mexican food. There are better places in Yakima, but the food here is decent. Customer service is lacking though. Very average, but they have a sizable following and to each their own..

The food is ALWAYS delicious (esp their chicken crispy tacos) & the staff is VERY friendly. I enjoy the intimate yet casual atmosphere- you can bring a date or take your family, either way, you'll leave feeling satisfied (with a full belly & plenty of money still in your pocket). 5 stars!

This place is the best! Everyone is always welcoming when you come in and the food is good quality. You’ll never be disappointed with their breakfast burrito that have chorizo, egg, rice, and beans! Pair it with the green salsa and you’re life is complete :)!
