Marcus Bloomington Cinema

Movie theater
The Marcus Bloomington Cinema is a part of the Marcus Theater chain, offering mainstream films with enhanced picture and sound quality. It provides comfortable seating, including recliners, for an enjoyable movie experience. The cinema also offers expanded dining options and friendly staff to ensure a top-notch visit. Guests can expect crystal-clear audio and visuals, as well as spacious seating arrangements. While concessions may be slightly pricey, they come with free refills.
This was my first time visiting this theater, and it did not disappoint. We went to see Wicked and booked our tickets online since the seats were selling out fast. Getting in was quick and easy—just scanned my phone, and we were all set. The reclining seats were incredibly comfortable, and I loved how spacious the seating setup was. We got a large popcorn, which was reasonably priced, and it made the experience even better. I’ll definitely be coming back for another visit!

Very fun experience. Bought the tickets online, the lady at the ticket box was friendly and quick. Snack counter was friendly and efficient. The area around the icee machine was clean. The theater was comfortable and clean. Enjoyed the reclining seats. Movie started on time and the picture was clear. Bathroom could have been cleaner but wasn't terrible.

Always love visiting this theater, we ordered the tickets online because we noticed the seats filling up fast. Getting in was easy, I just showed my receipt on my phone and entry was a breeze. The reclining seats are so nice and comfortable, we loved it! It's also great how the rows/ seats are nicely spaced out from each other too! Popcorn n drink are a little pricey but you get free refills too, will be returning for the next IMAX movie!

I love everything about Marcus Theater's. Mr. Marcus has done an amazing job creating a wonderful movie experience with affordable options. I stopped going to theaters for the past 20 years! Then I moved to Bloomington, Illinois and was recommended to try this theater because it is affordable and the dollar to value ratio is amazing. I can not say I have ever been disappointed in my visits. The absolute only thing I miss, I suppose because I am old school is buttering and flavoring my own popcorn. That is a personal flavor that no one else can replicate for yourself to have the outcome that you enjoy most. I am a local video engineer. I gather the content and create the video channel lineups for the transport through the entire country and worldwide via the internet. This allows me to have a deeper appreciation for the theaters, both video and live. Thank you Bloomington, Illinois Marcus Theaters and everyone else involved at the corporate level for returning one of my long lost loves to me.

First of all, I have called 5 times about getting a refund for concessions. Me and my daughter showed up and we’re not able to see the movie, and we left…but we live 45 minutes away. On the way home my daughter told me that she had already ordered concessions ahead of time. I called and they told me that the manager said they would refund me that day. I called multiple times and kept getting told I promise the manager is going to call you. She said she’s going to call you. I called another day and they said that she was going to call me and I said please let me talk to her right now because that’s what they always say, and she said no our our phone lines aren’t working and I don’t know how to transfer and she will call you back immediately, promise! I was still never called back. I still never received my almost $40 refund. I am now not even in the state. Also I feel like the people at the concession stands don’t know how the movie club works or anything about the discount and I actually had another patron yell at me and try to pay for my food because I was asking questions about the discount we are supposed to receive from being movie club members. I was so shook up and embarrassed, I ended up not getting my discount just to get away from the other patron and the workers.

Overall, we’re fortunate to have this theater in Bloomington. Imagine if we were stuck with AMC as our only option… This theater actually has very solid food, the place is well kept, there’s plenty of parking, employees are friendly, the lounger seats are simply the best, and the kids popcorn + ICEE tray is a solid menu hack for adults at like $8 Areas for improvement: 1. ICEE machine on the left side is always busted, which makes it kind of hilarious that they just let that thing sit there and spin with the liquid in there for no reason. 2. There’s never anyone validating tickets, which I think opens them up to theft of services and they could so easily get rid of that risk by just properly staffing that specific duty 3. IMAX isn’t worth it at all at this theater. Do it as a last resort. The sound is turned up to 11 in a low quality kind of way, the IMAX screen looks low res (I really don’t like constantly seeing pixels everywhere I look) and the chairs really just suck compared to all the other theater rooms (you can’t lean back an inch, let alone all the way) 4. They run out of premier release collectibles in an instant (most recently, the app advertised giveaways, I get there at the very first possible showing and they say “sorry we’re all out” when no more than maybe 15 people would have been ahead of me), which is annoying at times when that was a big value-add to the decision to go to the theater at all, and the app hypes you for it. 5. Paying upwards of $5 in “service fees” just to buy a ticket through the Marcus app is actually so incredibly stupid that I physically drive out to the theater to buy my tickets in advance at the counter just to save that money because it’s that annoying to me that they do this while their tickets are priced high as it is. 6. When you order food ahead of time in the app to be ready at a specific time (and the app advertises the food will be ready for you to quickly pick up and head into your theater room), they don’t even start making your order at all until you arrive. And… when you arrive, you kind of stand there awkwardly at the pickup zone staring at the kitchen where nothing is even cooking yet and it’s already a minute past the set pickup time, and they ask your name, and then start making the food - which feels like they do this per an intentional process, not just by mistake.

Love going here for a Tuesday night movie. Love the food. Would be a five star review but I'm knocking one star off because they got rid of the individual salt packets. I'm not about to grab the grubby salt shakers that everybody and their brother uses. People are nasty and I know those salt shakers have probably been licked.
Dustin S — Google review
Chairs are comfortable. The food is great. It's fantastic that they sell beers. The atmosphere is a little to crazy. Wish security was a bit more proactive. I only saw one officer. By the time he checked one theater kids were getting loud on the eating tables and the lounge. Cleanliness could also be more important as there were full garbages and plenty of flies. This placer has the ability to be amazing if the right management is out in place !!

Restaurant
Taqueria El Porton is a fast-food restaurant in Bloomington that offers traditional Mexican dishes and shrimp in a simple setting. Located close to the IWU campus, this family-owned eatery is known for its delicious Al Pastor tacos and excellent service. The restaurant also hosts the popular Fiesta Ranchera on Thursday nights at three locations in the area. Customers praise the flavorful and well-seasoned food, particularly recommending the juicy meat al Pastor burritos.
I can’t speak for authenticity but I can say that we had a very tasty and hot meal on our visit to Bloomington today. The salsa was very nicely flavored (my wife thought it was spicy but I loved it); the guacamole was more her taste. As soon as I saw that they offered cow tongue I knew I was going to get that. I had the cow tongue burrito and the meat was cooked PERFECTLY and was very flavorful. My wife had the fish tacos and she liked them a lot. Our toddler enjoyed picking apart the tacos, and I had the other one (beef) and it was very good. The service was great as well. Whenever we come back through town we will be 100% be back here!

I had an avocado tip in my salad that I actually bit down on. It was very hard and hurt my teeth for a few days. The male manager was super rude straight out the gate like I placed the thing in my food. The last picture is the plate he replaced my original plate with. I want be back and I will tell anyone going DON'T!!! The manager could have owned the mistake. It wasn't my fault.

Holy Mexican food! The BEST Mexican food I have ever tried in my life! Fresh, simple, delicious. The service was outstanding; our waitress was the sweetest human on the planet. Will be back for sure. This place is 2.5 hrs from where I live, but the food is worth the drive.

Portions are plentiful. All the children were satisfied and had leftovers. Torta Cubano was fresh and overflowing. The tacos were 3 stars. The cheese enchilada meal was filling. Order changes weren't a problem.

My fiancé and I absolutely love El Porton. It’s our go-to spot every Monday and a great way to start the week. Authentic food, reasonably priced, very friendly staff. A hidden gem right outside of downtown Bloomington. Highly recommend.

I hate to leave this kind of review, because El Porton (in name only at this point) has a soft spot in my heart, having grown up eating here under the original owners. The new owners seem to have dropped some standards around consistent quality control, and almost worse than that is they allow their daughter to work the front while being incredibly insulting, condescending, and entitled - she often single handedly makes you not want to come back, just to not have to interact with her again. If the owners see this review, I get that you want to employ your daughter, makes total sense, but you need to understand that she’s losing you a lot of business and her work ethic is awful towards the community that makes your business possible in the first place. If I had acted like she does even for a single day at my family’s restaurant when I was growing up, they would have fired me and made me earn the right to work again at the business. All the best to you. I might try the place out in a few months to see if something has changed about this and the inconsistent food quality, but I’ve got one more visit in me and then I’m done with this place if nothing has changed, just being straight with you. And I’ll be telling everyone I know to get their food elsewhere too if that happens.

Nestled in the heart of Bloomington, Illinois, the Grossinger Motors Arena is a remarkable multi-use venue that has been captivating audiences since its grand opening in 2006. With a capacity to accommodate up to 8,000 concert-goers and 5,500 sports enthusiasts, this expansive arena has hosted over three million visitors across various events.
Enjoyed the entertainment from our local hockey team. It has been great to have a team back in town. The crowd was perfect harmony of encouragement and banter. Concessions staff were fantastic. The pausing people walking to their seats is kind of funny for the type of league it is, but I get it.

REO SPEEDWAGON and Loverboy put on a very good concert! Fairly quick in and out of building. Parking could be better as well as the floor seats, but overall, a good evening. We were on the floor, 2nd row center. The sound quality was decent. A pretty nice arena.

Went here for Disney on Ice and the whole experience was magical! Seats were comfortable and spacious. The bathrooms were clean and family bathroom was huge. The concessions weren’t badly priced either. We would come back again for another event.

Went to see WWE SuperShow on June 22nd 2024. The Arena is lets just say unique for seating it's normal ballpark like seats. For handicap it didn't see accessable as I witnessed a woman on crutches be told to go up and down steeper steps with no regard of her safety downward. Staff didn't seem like they cared about the people outside of the guardrail by the main stage for the wrestling event. Good lighting, sound and usage of video boards. The event was 5/5 from the crowd and performers themselves. Staff wasn't very helpful for when they opened as well just opened and door and didn't say anything about if we could proceed further. Parking is really simple. Option one the parking garage or option two the lots they charged $10 for one and $20 for the other. Online it didn't mention this so to some I'm guessing this was a slap in the mouth.

I had a good time last night seeing Cody Rhodes, Jey Uso, Bayley, and Gunther. The Grossinger arena was a decent arena. My only complaint is that Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair were on the flyer for the show. However, they didn't wrestle last night.

Avoid at all costs. Attended Megadeth show here Wednesday, September 27, 2023. The show must not have been well advertised, because the stage was in the middle of the main floor and there were a lot of available seats. With less than three songs left in the set, "security" got ahold of a fan, one guy. It must have been brutal, because of what happened next... The band's singer, Dave Mustaine STOPPED THE SONG to tell the FOUR "security" guards to stop hitting the guy. The scuffle (if you can call it that) moved to the aisle and from where I was, I could see two staff holding the guy up and two punching him in the face. In what world is this ok? Even if he was drunk, you gotta rough him up like that?? Mustaine continued on, he said the show was over unless those bully "security" were removed from the building. A few minutes (and more wasted time that could be spent playing music) later, it was reported the problematic people were gone from the building, along with Megadeth's time to perform. They played their final number and the show ended, but the atmosphere was definitely changed. If this is the way this place runs at a fraction of capacity, imagine how crazy it would be with MORE people in attendance? The arena has not issued any kind of public statement to explain, justify, apologize for, etc the actions of it's staff and the incredibly unprofessional and dangerous manner in which they conduct themselves, despite repeated requests to. Many others, as well as myself will issue our reply though, do not visit this venue. You are not safe here, you are not welcome here. Maybe it's just a heavy metal thing, maybe it's just we who aren't welcome or safe here. I'd love some clarity, but I doubt I'll ever receive any. So whatever, I'm gonna do what's best for me, and that's never return to this dangerous, unsafe space.
Shaun R — Google review
I have spent many hours in this arena, with my son's hockey practices and games, professional hockey and concerts and it is a great venue! Went to one of the 1st concerts since Covid. Plenty of free parking within walking distance. The security check, food sales seating all went smooth. Mask policy was being followed and everyone in our group had a great time! The sound was awesome and I would definitely go back for other events

Park
Miller Park Zoo in Bloomington is a historic zoo that has been around since 1891. Over the years, it has expanded and added new exhibits, making it more than double its original size. The zoo features indoor spaces like ZooLab, which houses exotic insects, meerkats, and parrots. Visitors can also explore the Katthoefer Animal Building to see snow leopards, tamarins, snakes, and Sumatran tigers.
It's a small zoo, so animals up close and personal. There isn't a really big habitat for any of the animals, so there isn't much for them to do except to pace. But kids and families really enjoyed their time there. It is small enough to manage for a field trip. Right next door, there is a splash pad and playground equipment that the kids enjoyed.
Rose B — Google review
Made a spontaneous stop on our road trip to this sweet little zoo! The grounds were well kept and the staff was friendly. We saw lots of animals! The wallabies were my favorite part. It was cool to get up-close and personal with all the animals.

Such a cute little zoo. They do have 3 interactive areas. One with goats, one with wallabys and wallaroos, and one birt sanctuary. They have a tiger, snow leopards, red panda, and many more animals. There is plenty of room for RV's to park. It is handicap accessible.
Nicole B — Google review
For being a smaller zoo we had a great time here. We went through the whole zoo twice in 2 hours but I think we saw every animal because they were all out and active. We loved the baby anyeater, it's the 1st time we've seen one of those.

Park
Miller Park is a beautiful and well-balanced environment for both adults and kids. The playground, water splash park, and walking path make it a great outing for families. The small zoo on the premises exceeded expectations with more animals than anticipated, making it just the right size for families with young children. However, some visitors expressed concerns about the lack of lighting in the playground area during darker hours, which could pose safety risks and potential vandalism.
Hmmm... reviews for the zoo seem to be commingled with reviews for the larger park. I wrote a separate review under "Miller Park Zoo". This review is for the broader park. Great place to walk or relax. Has a splash pool for kids, a pavilion for events, paddle boating on a lake, a stocked lake for fishing, trails to walk around, picnic areas, a gazebo, a baseball field, a monument to war veterans, a monument to firefighters, lots of open fields both in the sun, and shade, and easy access to downtown Bloomington. After the zoo, we spent 2 hours just exploring.

This is a good place to see a ballgame. There is plenty of parking although one downside is it takes a while to get out and on your actual way home. There are many good food options. The giveaways are quality. We enjoy going here several times a year

The animals that were out were fun and active. Kids loved watching the otters play. A lot of the animals were not out because it's still chilly out. It was disappointing that indoor viewing was very very limited. This zoo takes about an hour to see everything. The volunteers were helpful and were happy to answer kids questions The highlight was the playground for my kids.... it was challenging and had a great slide. It kept my 5 children ages 2-13 very entertained.

Located at the entrance of the miller park, zoo, this municipal playground has some safe features, and is attached to a water splash pad. They also have a mini golf course and a picnic areas for family usage. For such a small city these people really have, i've done this up, right.

Nestled in the heart of Bloomington, Rosie's Pub is a charming American taphouse that offers a delightful menu featuring flatbreads, burgers, pasta, and an impressive selection of beers. What makes this spot even more special is its historical significance; it occupies the former law office of President Abraham Lincoln. The ambiance exudes nostalgia as you dine in one of the city's oldest buildings.
We love Rosie's! Everything on the menu is great, especially the cheese balls. The monthly egg roll always is an interesting flavor - I was nervous about the "meatball sub" one this month but it was amazing!! The salad was light and fresh, and the truffle fries are a must.

Came with my sister for lunch it was so good. We started out with the bruschetta and when I say it was one of the best bruschettas I’ve ever had it was amazingly good. We both got the Rosie’s grilled chicken. It was so tasty. The fries were amazing so hot and crispy. I loved the blackened chicken breast on the sandwich it was so juicy and flavorful. Amazing atmosphere and food! I tried a sunrise burger, one of their appetizers, and their Peach Thyme Prosecco Smash, and they were all delicious. I'm anxious to go back and try more on their menu. I've returned a few times since my initial review. Their cheese curds are delicious and the mozzarella tomato sandwich with chicken (pictured) is yummy, too.

We stopped here after not getting into another place and wow that was a happy accident! The fries are really great and the Mac n cheese we got for our son was so delicious he ate almost all of it and it was a very generous portion. The atmosphere inside and outside is very relaxing. The flatbread is very flat and crispy. We would have loved to have drinks but we had a couple hours to drive. We would definitely stop here again

The Mystic Kitchen & Tasting Room is an extraordinary wine bar with a remarkable selection of wines and delectable dishes. The owners, who are not only exceptionally kind and warm individuals but also perfectionists, consistently deliver nothing less than excellence in their offerings. The MF filet stands out as a particularly outstanding dish, surpassing any steak found elsewhere in town. The seasonal menu changes and continuous experimentation keep the experience fresh and exciting.
Finally stopped in to give this place a try. We choose to eat outside since it was a nice day. The vibe is so chill and welcoming. The staff is very friendly and attentive. I ordered the bourbon steak bites, they are very tender, the flavor was lacking but still good to try. The mystic salad was awesome, lots of flavor and very refreshing. My husband ordered the Texas sliders the brisket was tender and the slider had a lot of flavor. To end our visit we ordered the sticky toffee cake 🤤 - this was sooo good, the caramel was amazing I wanted to lick the plate. We will definitely be back.

When I looked at their menu online, I thought it might be a little too bougie for my girl group, but happily, I was wrong. We were greeted warmly by the owner and seated in the beautifully decorated dining room. They've restored many of the beautiful features of the old building they occupy. The menu offers a variety of things to choose from. My group of 3 ordered the large charcuterie tray and pretzel bites with spicy mustard and beer cheese. Both were fresh and delicious. The peach jam on the tray was a sweet bite after the tasty meats and cheeses. I also enjoyed the creamed asparagus soup, topped with a sour cream swirl. My taste buds were delighted! They have a large menu of cocktails, craft beers, and wines, but we didn't partake on this visit. The atmosphere is light and trendy with a casual feel. We came because we had won a gift certificate at an auction and thought we would try something new. I'm so glad we did. My friends and I enjoyed our visit there and are already talking about going back.

Nice, cozy little space with a good.vibe and romantic atmosphere. Perfect for taking a date for dinner and drinks. Service is absolutely wonderful and attentive. I had the Sassy Chicken Thighs which were really good. Their take.on the Old Fashioned is one of the best I have ever had.

My friend told me about this place and how good the cocktails were. Of course I’m nosey and had to try it for myself. I was in town for an event and took my family with me and we all loved it! They have outdoor seating, the service was really good (Parker was so funny!) and the cocktails were indeed amazing. I got the pistachio martini 🍸

Absolutely incredible restaurant. Amazing selection, delicious dishes, and the staff is fantastic. So kind and caring and they honestly care if you have a good time or not. They go above and beyond. Birthdays, anniversaries, all have been wonderful here. More than 5 stars!

The Mystic is located in the beautiful historic Illinois hotel building. The restaurant has some good options. I ordered the sassy chicken thighs (which was only one thigh) which was served in a delicious glaze on top of a bed of mashed potatoes, with broccoli florettes. With only one chicken thigh, and a very small bit of the broccoli florettes it wasn’t very filling, but the delicious mashed potatoes helped. Everything was exceptionally delicious. The smaller serving allowed room for dessert. Which for me was a shared sticky toffee cake, which was melt in your mouth delicious. Emily was our server and everyone was very attentive excellent service and equally good food. The atmosphere is outstanding in the architecturally beautiful Illinois house. My only suggestion would be to serve two chicken thighs with that entrée for a more filling meal. Other than that it was a wonderful experience and I would definitely come back.

Everything about our first time here was wonderful. From the friendly staff to the delicious food, it was a very enjoyable evening. Because my first choice for dinner was sold out, the owner was kind enough to give us a free dessert, delicious apple crisp. Best of all, she also gave me her recipe for her amazing carrot soup!

This is such a fun experience!! We have visited previously for "the experience," but this time, we ordered items off the menu. (BLT, smashburger, roasted broccoli, brownie) Both times, we loved our dishes and would absolutely recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes to try new foods. Fun for a date night, special occasion, or just because. I love the decoration from the Edison bulbs to the artwork to the speakeasy aesthetic. The bar is beautiful. The dishes are delicious. It's definitely worth checking out!!

Such a fun and unique experience I definitely recommend stopping in! Don’t forget the password when you make your reservation or the hostess will make you do a dance or tell a joke so be prepared! They had a future cocktail of the evening, but also an extensive full bar! The bar itself is beautiful and I would definitely come back just to sit there for cocktails in the future. The food was delicious even though it’s not a large menu there’s definitely something for everybody. The main highlight though was our server Kaitlin. She really made the experience exceptional - she was friendly, prompt with her service, offered great suggestions and ensured that we had a wonderful experience for our first time. The experience was very unique and I highly recommend stopping in - Just don’t forget the password!

This has been a constant spot for myself and my girlfriend. If you’re looking for the best cocktail bar in Bloomington/Normal, great food and atmosphere this is the place. Cullen, one of the bartenders there, whipped me up a fantastic rye New York sour with a dash of ginger liqueur. One of my favorites so far. Definitely give this place a try!

Our 1st visit here was super cute and quirky, with the hostess. Once you give the password and take the elaborate tunnel (*wink*wink) its the sweetest little speakeasy...great food and drinks...knowledgeable wait staff... Our second visit, just with friends for drinks and snacks...but will be back to try all the things...

We had an incredible dinner experience celebrating our anniversary! From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond… especially in making sure my wife’s dietary restrictions were fully accommodated. We did the Capone Experience, and every dish was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. The attention to detail, flavor, and pacing of the meal was spot-on. Special shoutout to the executive chef and the entire team…. they made us feel truly taken care of. It’s rare to find a place that combines top-tier food, service, and thoughtfulness all in one.

American restaurant
Steak 'n Shake, a renowned eatery famous for its savory steakburgers and delectable milkshakes, provides customers with a charming retro-inspired atmosphere akin to that of a classic American diner. While their food is highly enjoyable, one minor drawback is the occasional inconvenience of having to wait around thirty minutes to be served their exquisite milkshakes. It's worth noting, however, that this delay does not appear to result from an overwhelming influx of patrons.
It was squeaky clean when we arrived at 11 on a Wednesday! Food & shakes: Kids were happy! Cofffee: I didn't like! Seating area: nice. Ordering: easy using the kiosks!!! Service: nice. Parking: plenty!

Unfortunately the burgers aren't cooked as crisp as they used to be. No crispy edges and the meat is soggy. Another thing is the mustard relish has onions in it, not just pickles and it's not noted. If there was a real person up front taking orders they could have answered that for me.
Ryan G — Google review
The tables had not been wiped off, there was paper on the floor and on some of the tables. Napkin dispensers were empty. Food was okay, thinnest burgers and bacon slices I have ever seen .Also ordered no onions, got onions
Steve K — Google review
My food that I ordered was good. My fries were a little over salted, but they were warm. My sandwich was messy but delicious. We did have a lengthy wait in thr drive through. In my mind, it was a little too long due to the fact that very little to nobody was there. It think if the fries had less salt and the wait was a little shorter, I think this place from the drive-through perspective could receive a 5 star. The picture is of the vehicle we were behind for several minutes. Again, a little quicker service or delivery of the food would have been ideal. I can't imagine if it would have been a busy time. It would have been a long wait.

This is a dying chain and this particular one is already dead. Steak & Shake no longer offers table service, a sign it’s on life support and barely hanging on. After a long day of travel, my husband and I stopped in because it was the only thing near our hotel. Despite there only being one person in the restaurant, every table was dirty and the floor was sticky. The place was filthy. I wanted to leave, but we were super tired and in eyesight of our hotel, so we stayed. One worker came out after our meal was served and was loudly berating another employee on his headset, then made a phone call and loudly talked on his phone in the dining room on topics that I’d rather not hear about. We already knew we would never go to a Steak & Shake again, but to top it off, my husband tried to get a refill on his coke and the scan (yes, you have to scan your receipt to get a drink.) would not work. A lady who works there said the scan was only god for 30 minutes… that includes cook time of food. She did not offer to get my husband a refill. Just said it only works for 30 minutes and went back to what she was doing. Pretty sad this chain is not even a glimmer of what it was created as many years ago. RIP Steak & Shake.

We haven't been to a steak n shake in awhile. Our grandkids wanted that character they had in the widow. They gave me the receipt. I didn't know what to do with it. I said, excuse me to 1 if the workers 2 ask 4 help. He kept walking to the back. A woman at the table helped me with no problem. The food doesn't taste the same. The way they made the burgers were very messy. There was sauce all around the burger/ wrapper. We were not even greeted when we walked in. Maybe that should of been a sign. I'm not going back to that location.
LaTanya M — Google review
I come here all the time, and while the food is always good, today just made my day. I went through the drive thru, which was faster than usual so it was already good, and the woman serving me was such a sweetheart. I wanted to try something new and she recommended the garlic burger, which I loved. Her smile seriously brightened my evening. I'm pretty sure her name was Melissa. Hopefully she is working the next time I come, lol.
Rose — Google review
The food is pretty good for fast food, but their business practices are becoming absurd. It seems like they would rather cater to robots than human beings. Only option for ordering is kiosk, which is annoying but doable for me, a 27 year old. Problem is, an elderly couple walked in and needed help navigating the technology, and his requests to staff were ignored. So he asked me and I helped them order. They provide you with a QR code permission slip to operate the soda machine that must be scanned every time you use, and although it says to use the slip for “refills” you only get one refill before they cut you off. This is on a product that costs them pennies on the dollar. When I myself needed assistance, I made eye contact with a staff member behind the counter, yet she went back to bantering with her coworker. If this type of corporate customer control is Steak and Shakes best, then I feel their competitors have more to offer the customers in the department of warmth and value.

Biaggi's Ristorante Italiano is a popular outpost in Bloomington, offering a wide range of Italian dishes and specialty cocktails in a relaxed setting. The restaurant is known for its extensive selection of house-made and imported pasta, soups, salads, steaks, and seafood at affordable prices. With indoor and outdoor seating options, it's an ideal spot for dining with family or friends. The sophisticated interior design creates an intimate atmosphere perfect for couples looking for a special night out.
Biaggi's provides a consistent dining experience. The food is always good and the service is consistently good also. The prices are a little high, but that's pretty common now. The decor is nice, but the restaurant can get a little loud if it is even halfway full. Overall one of my favorite business lunch spots. The scallop risotto was delicious as usual, but the features dishes were also really tempting.

Went for a birthday dinner. It was an off peak time but they were attentive. We had all the time we wanted to just sit and enjoy a family dinner... the food was lovely. I was so excited to have their classic black current tea again. We enjoyed a bruchetta trio for an appetizer.. you don't want to miss the fig and apple flavor... it will delight your taste buds. I had the pasta and salad. I love the option... honestly was more than I could eat and I saved room for desserts since it was a special occasion... everything was perfect

Very big restaurant with many tables. Upscale place with a lot of entrees and beverage options on the menu. Service was really good and attentive with numerous waiters serving our table. We were a party of about 15 people and had reservations for a Wednesday evening dinner. Ordered the sea bass for the main meal which was really good and well presented. Had a pretty big piece of tiramisu cake for dessert with an espresso martini. I would give this place a 5-star rating for the espresso martini alone since it was that good.

Upscale restaurant with a variety of food choices on the menu. The Baxters salad was different in a good way. I think it had pieces of apple in it (I could be wrong), but it tasted good. The parmesan crusted halibut was well presented and delicious. The service was a little slow since our food took a while to come out, but nevertheless, I would definitely visit again if I had the chance and would recommend to others as well.

Tonite I decided to make a meal out of the appetizers. I started with the Thai Shrimp. Nicely executed! Very flavorful with that familiar Thai sweet chili sauce... and just the right amount of heat for the non adventurous like me ! The dish included a nice Asian salad, where the dressing also helped cool the heat from the chili's. For the second app, I went with their Steak sliders. Unlike some steak houses, this basically a three pack of French dip sliders. The shaved beef steak was high quality, and then served with neled white cheddar over the top, and an au jus on the side for dipping. Many thanks to Grace and Millie this evening for the great service snd banter. Hope to be back soon to see y'all #Steakhouse #baxters #thaishrimp #bloomingtonillinois

Pheasant Lanes Family Fun Center & Kegler’s Pub in Bloomington, Illinois is a family-friendly entertainment venue offering a variety of activities for all ages. The center features bowling, mini-golf, sand volleyball, arcade games, and laser tag. Additionally, there's a pub serving sandwiches and pizza for visitors to enjoy. The mini-golf course is available during the spring, summer, and fall seasons.
Manager Erica was absolutely wonderful when we had a slight issue with bowling, and fixed it up for us immediately! Arcade prices were very fair, and the prices were cool. Food and drink were also very good, especially the toasted ravioli, and reasonably priced.

I haven't been here since I was a teenager probably before the remodel but I know my son's school has taken him here on community days so I wanted to share that moment with him by bringing him here. My son is 6 and Autistic/Non-Verbal so outtings can be a bit of a challenge. I will say the staff there were really nice I would have liked some additional help though since I didn't know how to get things set up and again it was our first time there since the remodel. I did have to come back to the desk after failing to know how to set up the getting bowling part. I will give it to the place that they've come along way in what they offer in types of games and variety but for someone who was new I had no idea what I was doing and trying to be aware of my toddler on my own wasn't helping. We did come right in the morning so there wasn't a bunch of ppl there which was great that helped. Now in ref to pricing I will say that outting was a little on the expensive side we ended up spending roughly about 70 or so for 2 games of bowling for 2 ppl my son and I and food afterwards. I don't remember there being a kids drink offered but glad I carried juice on me for times like this as well as snacks as we waited about 15-20 mins for food though it was hot and fresh I will say and we enjoyed it. The experience in an overall sense was enjoyable however in ref to being an affordable thing we would like to do again that maybe a different story.

We held a family reunion in the outdoor patio with Bloomington Normal being a central location for all of us - even in the heat, with the fans and a breeze - we were comfortable enough to have a wonderful time in a great space! Erica took care of the details so we were able to enjoy our reunion. She was flexible with the needs of our group and extremely helpful. Everything went according to plan - really could not have had a nicer day! We were pleased to have such a nice salad, cold sandwiches and pizza, and dessert was a hit too! I think our group tried every activity but the arcade! Thank you Pheasant Lanes!

This place was alot of fun & very budget friendly with reasonable prices. We enjoyed a few drinks at the bar and mini golf, but they also had bowling and a game room. Fun for the whole family, date night or a night out with friends. We didn't have their pizza but it definitely looked really good. We had reservations for dinner or I would have wanted to give it a try!!

We went to Pheasant Lanes in Bloomington for a Labor Day work get-together on a Monday. Since they were open until 10 PM, I asked the front desk for a lane until 10. The staff told me if I took it at 8:15 it would only run until 9:15, so I agreed to start one lane at 8:30 and another later when the rest of my group arrived. I specifically told the receptionist I needed the lanes until 10 PM, and I was charged accordingly. I ended up spending nearly $300 for my team, but at 9:30 they shut everything down without any notice. The second lane that I opened at 9 PM was closed after just 30 minutes. Nobody told me in advance that they planned to close early. This was very disappointing—especially since I’ve hosted similar events here before. The first time, the staff was great and very helpful, but the last couple of times the service has gone downhill. The communication is poor, the staff doesn’t seem to care about customers, and it left me feeling embarrassed in front of my team who barely got 10–15 minutes of bowling after I had paid for the time. I truly expected better consistency and customer service. Note: I am also posting the statement of how much I spent at Pheasant Lanes to show exactly what happened.

Nice family fun center. The bowling lanes are in great shape and the facility was clean. The pizza was very good and the price was reasonable.

My son had a great time here (age 7) learning to bowl!!! My son beat me in all of our games as I'm a "spin" bowler and the lanes aren't oiled for it...but I could care less as he is loving the game and still learning and we had a really fun time!!!! Prices are very reasonable and the staff is SUPER nice!!! Wonderful place for a young family to go!
Cmeister1975 — Google review
I’m not sure if this was a recent change, or if staff was just uninformed of bowling options, but this bowling trip was very expensive for our group of 7. My family came to visit me and we were looking for something fun to do together. My dad asked how bowling is handled at this alley and we were told you pay by the hour. According to other reviews, this doesn’t seem to have always been the case. We proceeded to play for an hour and, with a group of seven, two being kids, it’s no surprise there was lots of downtime between bowlers and ultimately ate away at our hour of play. Giving 3 stars because the kids had lots of fun in the arcade!

Excellent dining experience. With it being graduation and mother’s day weekend, the restaurant was packed but our waitress was very tentative, the wait for food was short and the food was delicious! This was our 3rd experience here and each visit has been fantastic. Looking forward to our next visit.

Solid mexican spot in Bloomington. I like that they provide free chips and salsa. They’re NOT skimpy at all. Our party of 3 got 2 baskets in front of us before we even sat down. Diet coke refills are free, thats a +1 The chips were really good with a nice crunch, salsa not bad either. I had the strawberry pineapple margarite. Absolutely delicious and pretty sweet but still had a bite to it (in a good way). Tried three tacos. The only one i didn’t love was the Al Pastor. The pork tasted a bit weird and the sauce was overly spicy. Carnitas taco was the big winner. Meat was juicy and tasty and the sauce went so well with everything. I also liked the pork belly taco, nice big piece included. Service was great! Would come back

The tacos are different but great.. try the Nashville hot chicken! Chips and salsa were fantastic and the brirria quesadilla was amazing. Worth robbing someone of theirs off their table and going to jail over. Im not saying to do that... but I'm just saying, keep that option open if you didn't order it, might be worth doing. Great atmosphere and the bartender was a cool guy as well.

Service and food do not match the decor! Seated right away, waited over 15min for a drink. Chips were terribly salty! Ordered the chicken tortilla soup to come first! However the drinks came 3 min before the food and it all came at once ! The barria tacos were cold and dry .. Did not have a good experience the Owner/ manager was walking around with out a care. Voiced my displeasure and he walked right by ! Not customer service orientated at all!

I honestly cannot say I've had a bad taco here after a handful of visits. This time I got the pork belly, the limited time Gyro, and the Acapulco grilled shrimp tacos. The chips and salsa were fresh, and the horchata was rich and creamy, not overly watered down like some places. Definitely worth a stop for a delicious meal any day of the week!

It's food that is good & it's consistent almost every time we go. My burger was overcooked this time, but the manager prioritized a remake & the do-over was delicious!Definitely better than most fast food places. Quality of food was excellent. The dessert was yummy.

Clean nice atmosphere like a usual Culver's. Tried their pepper grinder burger which was very good. Nice mix of sauce , bacon, and beef

We love Culver's! We went to Culver's throughout Wisconsin, Florida, and Illinois. This one didn't disappoint. Our food was fresh and delicious. Staff was very friendly and efficient. My favorite dessert, the Turtle Sundae, was amazing. Dinner on a Saturday night was very busy here, so be prepared to wait in line to order. The lines go fast, though, so it's worth it. Highly recommend!
Rachel M — Google review
Usually this Culver's is always good quality food over the one located deeper into Bloomington by the highway. Tonight I got a spicy chicken sandwich and the chicken patty was honestly so thin. I wasn't expecting a huge chicken patty but I also wasn't expecting something wafer thin.

They say it's worth the wait and it was. Way better than In-N-Out, sorry Cali.

If I’m ordering from the drive thru, there’s no way I should have to come INSIDE the restaurant and get handed a cup to make my own drink. Please spread condiments across the 2in diameter of the bun…. Salted fries would’ve been nice. Idk, maybe look at Chic-Fil-A’s methods….

Very welcoming cashier's, the facility was clean. The Food was delicious cooked to order, fries was fresh and hot.. Not to long a wait.

Italian restaurant
Avanti's Italian Restaurant is a straightforward, family-friendly establishment that offers a variety of Italian-American dishes and pizza in a cozy setting. Customers have praised their delicious pizza, which is perfectly cooked with just the right amount of sauce and toppings. Although some may not prefer the square-shaped cuts, it seems to work well for this restaurant. With over 30 years in the industry, Avanti's has become a beloved eatery known for their famous Gondola sandwich.
What a treat to enjoy gluten-free pizza and Avanti's classic, memorable flavors. My taste buds were so satisfied, the pizza was perfectly cooked. There are incredible gluten-free salads, even cookies for dessert! Out of the park!

Horrible service since Covid. Why is every other place operating as normal except this place? Dine in is not the same as it used to be. It’s is awkwardly quiet. You have to place your order as soon as you walk in then find yourself a seat. You fill your own drink in the back of house almost seems like a dirty gas station. After you pay for your food all them employees disappear to the back. This place is EMPTY! I remember coming here and there would be a wait to get a table. They’ll be out of business sooner or later. It’s not the food, it’s the employees and atmosphere!

First time here and excited to try a new restaurant. Came in and was shocked you had to order at a counter like McDonald's. Then you have to search for drink machine with paper cups. The food was very good but it felt very out of place on everything else. My son and I felt as we bothered the person that took our order.

went for my birthday reward coupon. although having no waiter and you order before you sit down like it used to be i will say the lady at the counter was real nice. my food came quick and was hot and also tasted good.
Johnathon W — Google review
The food was made correctly and tasted good. The service was friendly. A lot has been lost in the atmosphere since Covid. It feels more like a fast food place than a restaurant. Order at the counter. Get your own drinks. Not what it used to be.
Todd B — Google review
Overall, wonderful food! We went on the recommendation of an avid fan of the restaurant. Not many restaurants have a "to go" section, and we grabbed some bread to go and then came back for dinner. Both times the restaurant was busy, which is a great sign. Too bad we live out of town but if we're back to the area, we'll have this restaurant on our short list!
Andras M — Google review
Disorganized and a limited sense of urgency… In their defense the carry out area was busy, but my online order was placed 1.5 hours ahead for pickup. I’m still waiting (20 minutes late) for my order. This comes on the heels of them messing up my last order.
Bajouni — Google review
You need to order when first go in. Had to get our own drinks. Food was ok except the beef sandwich was horrible. The ranch is the redeemer. We buy it by the half gallon and bring home. Place is ok

Restaurant
Nestled in a nondescript building that might not catch your eye at first glance, Jim's Steak House is a hidden gem that promises an unforgettable dining experience. Originating from Peoria, IL, and now with a branch in Bloomington, this old-school steakhouse specializes in dry-aged beef and seafood while offering live music to enhance the ambiance. As you step inside, you'll be greeted by an enchanting atmosphere reminiscent of Frank Lloyd Wright’s designs blended with Western charm.
Had an amazing anniversary with my girlfriend this evening at Jim's. It was a great meal with wonderful service. I have pictured my T-bone cooked medium rare. A little bit chilly inside and we sat near the fireplace, but thats just my opinion :) we will definitely be returning!!!!

My husband went with my son and a colleague tonight, and I asked my husband to bring me home a lobster tail. I have dined at the restaurant before and it was awesome, but the takeout was also incredible! The chef is consistent and great! FYI I’m new from Chicago Suburbs and I appreciate a good joint like this!
MICHELE G — Google review
I would love to give 5 stars all around, but there is one serious problem with this establishment. There is an 'Exit' sign on the stairs pointing to double doors that look like the main entrance, but they're locked. Not only was this a pain for someone on crutches, it's a major hazard in case of fire! Fire exits cannot be locked and unusable! That aside, we absolutely loved this place! Our server, Brook, was phenomenal. The food was 5-star quality, and everything I've been raised to expect from a great steakhouse, and the desserts are incredible. We had the calamari, steak and lobster (The Boomer), the Sea Bass special, and the Chicken Italiano. Sides were New England clam chowder, side salad with bleu cheese, baked potato, and french fries. I can't recommend all of these enough! The steak is buttery soft, the lobster was perfectly cooked and fluffed, the chicken didn't require a knife to cut, the sea bass was actually crunchy on the outside and melt-in-your-mouth juicy on the inside. My side salad came with real bleu cheese, and my only complaint is the excessive amount of peas (photo below). The baked potato was perfectly done, the chowder was fantastic, and the fries were crispy and delicious. As this was a birthday dinner, they brought a complimentary slice of New York style cheesecake, which was made to perfection. All of this was paired with their Moscato by the glass. Live entertainment was going from the moment we walked in to the moment we left. There was piano, percussion, trumpet, bass guitar, and vocals. They played a wide variety of jazz and classic hits, including Piano Man. This was a real treat!

Rule #1: Do NOT let the outside appearances fool you. Looks are deceptive. It’s a very nondescript building (we tried figuring out how to get in…lol…go into the door facing Washington Street). Mama found out about this place, so I took her here for her birthday. If you’re hungry, grab a cheeseburger. If you want a divine dining experience, come HERE. The inside kinda looks like a multi-level Frank Lloyd Wright-esque meets Western intersection of elegance, charm, and serenity. Jim’s was founded in 1960, and a wonderful level of excellence is shown in the service (our server Brooke and attendant Josh were fabulous); in the food presentation from the salad to the appetizers to the main course. The food blew my taste buds in all four compass directions. Mama gave this restaurant NINE stars. I’d give it ten. There’s a piano bar adjacent to the dining area. Wanna make a birthday, anniversary, or anything else more memorable? Come HERE. Wanna treat yourself like a king or queen? Come HERE.

We loved the ambiance!! This was our first visit to Jim's steakhouse and we were definitely not at all disappointed. From the multi level seating that seemed to be endless staircases leading to new areas to the sounds of the piano playing, fully stocked bar. Our waitress was top notch, she was amazing. The Food was perfection. My husband said his steak was one of the best he's ever tasted. I had the sage stuffed chicken breast with mashed potatoes and asparagus, it was phenomenal. The candle lit tables were so romantic. We loved everything about our experience, We ended the night with the most delicious cheesecake. If you haven't tried Jim's steakhouse I 10/10 recommend!!

The ambiance of this place is unique. Upon entrance with a piano being played by the nicely stocked bar,we were escorted towards the back where there was plenty seating for dining. Multiple levels and fireplaces provide a fantastic atmosphere. When receiving our food, we weren't disappointed! The smell was incredible with taste to match. Perfectly cooked steaks! It feels as if you're a part a private club.

Jim’s Steakhouse. The name alone whispers old-school charm—mahogany walls, dim lighting, the faint ghost of 1980s cocaine deals drifting through the air. We came for a birthday dinner with high hopes and $400 in our wallets. We left spiritually bankrupt and bonded by trauma. It started with the “salad,” which was just iceberg lettuce drowned in a mystery dressing that tasted like mayonnaise left in a hot car. The Caesar was even worse—off-putting enough that grown adults stared at their plates like they’d just found a crime scene. Then came the appetizers. Calamari that fought back. Like chewing rubber bands soaked in fryer grease. Spinach artichoke dip? Not bad. But when one mediocre thing is the highlight, you’re in trouble. And then, oh boy, the entrees. Ribeyes so dry they could have been jerky. Over-trimmed, lifeless, and sadder than your aunt’s third wedding. The sea bass? Straight-up tasted like ammonia. Not metaphorically. Like, actual Windex. Someone spit it into a napkin. Loudly. Baked potatoes were raw in the middle. The sour cream tasted like it was trying to ferment itself. The mashed potatoes could be used to grout tile. And the steak tidbits? Just salt with a meat texture. We spent over $400 on what felt like a prank. I don’t know what happened back in the day, but Jim’s is running on vibes, dust, and memories of better times. We laughed so hard at how bad it was.

Shopping
Nestled in the heart of Bloomington, Eastland Mall is a cherished shopping destination that has stood the test of time since its grand opening in 1967. This one-story mall boasts an enclosed layout and underwent significant expansion just a few years later, making it one of Illinois' oldest retail hubs. With over 100 stores and eateries, visitors can explore well-known brands alongside local gems like Mariano's Fresh Market and Culver's Frozen Custard.
I remember when I used to be so many stores opened in this mall. Probably not that many days until it closes at this point. Couldn't have been more than 10 stores, but I didn't count. So weird walking through and seeing how deserted it was.

Well. Sad to say This mall like so many others across the United States slowly dying Thanks to Amazon It still has a few good stores But most of the large anchor stores have already pulled out, but I will say this Lots of good parking available

Y’all Need To Do Better With This Mall, It’s A Shame that there’s literally NO STORES In This Mall What So Ever.. Is It Because You Guy Raised The Rent So High That Those Who Had A Store There Could Not Afford It ?? Why Not Change It To An Outlet Mall Or DO SOMETHING All The Fast Food And Other BS In Bloomington Normal.. The Least Y’all Can Do Is Do Something about Them Empty Ahh MALL.

If you like walking, this is the place for you. If you like shopping, this is not the place for you. There's probably about five stores that are currently operating in this downfall of a mall. Place has seen better days

Owners of the Mall have let the building age and fall apart, while increasing rent. Running the majority of the stores out of the location. Shame on the City of Bloomington for allowing this.

Takeout Restaurant
Giordano's is a casual chain renowned for its deep-dish pizza and classic Italian dishes, complemented by a selection of beer and wine. Visitors praise the restaurant's lasagna for its flavorful and meaty sauce, making it stand out from other Italian eateries. While some patrons experienced longer wait times due to large parties, they found the food well worth it.
Stopped off to try "The Special" Chicago-style Deep Dish pizza. Read online that Giordano's was one of the best Chicago-style pizzerias in Illinois, and those reviews were correct! Not gonna lie, I've eaten plenty of pizza in my life and this pizza is a strong contender for the best I've ever had. One star ding on the atmosphere for the music in the place was a bit too loud for having easy conversation at the table.
Wade J — Google review
Solid deep dish for the area. They are trying to cut out wait staff, but haven't quite figured out how. The staff was working super hard to make it work. They should all get extra hook ups or raises as they tried to run table service as quick service without enough staff. Consider ordering ahead of time and taking it carry out if possible. I hope they stay open as it is a great location and good food.
Jeremy P — Google review
I like my first deep dish pizza here. We also tried bbq chicken wings here. Chicken wings is juicy and pizza is savory. Small size pizza is enough for 3 of us.
Kewalee L — Google review
The food was mediocre at best. The bruschetta was absolutely amazing but the pizza we ordered had raw dough throughout the whole thing. The only reason it’s getting a 4 star is because the manager made everything right by cooking it longer and giving a discount. The staff were very kind.
Shan B — Google review
So... if you are not in a hurry, you should really check this place out. Mind that all we selected today was the deep dish meat pizza. That thing is AMAZING! The staff is friendly, but the only reason this is not a 5 star review is that after getting the pizza pie, we really didn't see our waitress until check time. She was friendly otherwise. They will tell you that the wait will be approximately 45 minutes... this is accurate as the pizzas are very thick... and full of cheese. My wife found this place on the internet as we were looking for new places to go to. We traveled 4 hours, and weren't disappointed.. not that everyone would want to travel that far. Great job folks!
J. F — Google review
Watery pizza, probably from being frozen and put right in the oven. Manager wouldn't come speak with us directly about it. Had the waitress explain that it was because of mozzarella being freshly cut that morning. Didn't want go argue or cause a scene so we paid and left.
Everett B — Google review
Cooked to perfection. After being on the East Coast for 25 years, I could not have asked for a better return to home than this superbly cooked pie! Dined outside because the weather was beautiful, the patio was spotless and tastefully decorated.
Mike K — Google review
Pretty good overall! The pizza was great, the service was awesome and fast, but the garlic cheese sticks were okay. The cheese sticks weren't cooked all the way to where we were still able to feel the individual pieces of grated cheese in the middle instead of it being melted. Aside from the cheese sticks the pizza tasted awesome (Chicago style deep dish) 😋

My kids love this place. It's great for all ages, and my 3 kids (10,7,5) all are able to find areas to stay engaged. They recently remodeled the inside to switch out some attractions. We like the monthly pass where members can come everyday for 2 hours, as The kids can go burn energy while I work in the parent lounge. If I want to jump with them, it's only $5. I also like that I can stop and start my membership anytime, if needed. The staff are always friendly and helpful. Highly recommended!

Finally dined in to get the full experience of flingers. We order pizza quite often and have never had an issue, they are definitely our favorite non Detroit style pizza place. The staff was attentive and friendly. Dining in we ordered the Mac and cheese bites, they came out super hot and super delicious. I ordered the garlic Parmesan wings, I wasn’t super impressed, but definitely worth trying. I found them a tad too tangy. My husband ordered the august special Nashville hot cheesebomb - I’m not a big fan of spice but holy crap the flavors complimented each other so well.. and the dipping sauce was perfect to keep the heat at bay.

Steeply Priced unless you order after 9 pm on the weekend. Waaaay too much sauce, sweet tomato sauce, no herb flavors like oregano or garlic; and way too little cheese. No smell; my son commented that the pizza had no smell. Sausage tasted decent- nothing exceptional. If you love sauce, this may be your thing. Not ours.

I've had a lot of pizza, and this is among the best + very reasonably priced. The Blackjack Mac is unique and delicious. Who puts short ribs on pizza?

Hands down the best pizza in central Illinois. It’s clear how fresh and original this place is. It’s not often I find a place where I could get a different item each time and be just as satisfied as before. Always have to try the specialty pizza of the month, usually it’s a hit. Favorite regular menu pizzas are Blackjack Mac and Grillmaster. Flingers has yet to even remotely let me down. Easy 5 stars

Time for flinger rolls, round 2! Is this a revisit or a new review? A bit of both since I’ve had Flingers many times but it was in an older building in another part of town. My dad and I talk fondly of Flingers and their famous flinger rolls so we decided to stop talking about it and drop in for a meal. Upon entering, we waited in line until we told the people at the hostess counter that we would like to dine in. The hostess had a bit of a snobby attitude but we got seated quickly and had a friendly waitress come out and greet us. We got waters and looked over the menus despite knowing what we were already going to get. My dad and I both got three flinger rolls with jalapeno, pepperoni, and sausage in it and got some bread sticks as an appetizer. Despite the crazy crowd coming in for the even more crazy lunch deals ($1.95/slice is insane, imo.) the bread sticks came out after about 5-7 minutes. We quickly dug in as we both didn’t eat breakfast and were starving. Shortly after that, the flinger rolls came out and looked delicious. The bread sticks, while good, seemed a bit airy and not as filling as they initially looked. They came with marinara and cheese dipping sauce and were good either sauced up or not. The flinger rolls also had that airy vibe to them. I mentioned to my dad that after 3 bread sticks, I won’t be able to put down the rolls but as I started eating… there seemed to be plenty of room for everything. We requested marinara sauce and spicy ranch as our dipping sauces and boy, did they compliment the rolls really well. As we finished, I mentioned to my dad that I was full but not really at the same time. I don’t think I could’ve ate much more but knew that within an hour or so, that fullness would be replaced with emptiness. It’s a shame that the rolls aren’t as filling as I remember because it did seem like they were light on the toppings and having to pay for the toppings per roll for each roll gets pricey quick. Our bill was around $46 for 6 rolls, a thing of bread sticks, two waters, and an unsweet tea. I was super hyped to have a flinger roll again after so long but maybe the rose-tinted glasses were on today because while the food was super delicious and fresh, it felt like the toppings on the rolls have gotten skimpy and the rudeness of the hostess upon entering dropped it from a 5 to a 4. Still a really good place for pizza, beer, and various other menu items but it definitely lost some of that charm that the old place had.
Joshua D — Google review
Flingers Pizza Pub does bold ingredient combinations! I love how creative their menu is! I walk in curious about their rotating menu and it always surprises me! We went last night and our server was very attentive and kind. Something to be aware of is that due to their constantly adding new pizza varieties, their menu might not be updated. For example, we learned last night that they had discontinued our favorite boneless wings sauces. All in all, Flingers is great for a quick bite, needing some comfort food, being adventurous, date night or family night! 🍕🤩
Paulina A — Google review
First time going to Flingers, first of all the staff was super friendly our server (sadly dont recall her name) was the nicest and took care of us very well. The food was next level, even though the presentation might be a bit intimidating for some, the Mega Mac is some of the best pizza I've tried. We also got the carnivore, and it was also delicious. Wide selection of beers on-tap. Will definitely come again!

This is a very nice venue. The staff is always helpful and friendly. We have seen many shows at this facility. The venue is user friendly with clean restrooms and large foyer area. The acoustics are good and the seating is comfortable. There isn’t really a bad seat in the house. Good views from just about any seat you get. If I had to mention one drawback it might be the concessions area. It’s more like a snack area with candy bars, popcorn, and drinks. The selection is limited as far as that goes. We enjoy this venue over others we have been to because this one is more user friendly and classy. They continue to expand their variety of shows here from Comedy to Musicals, so there is something for all interests. We will continue to see shows at this venue. Keep up the good work.

My husband and I had our wedding here in March of 2022 and it was INCREDIBLE. Brian and the staff are amazing to work with and I would highly recommend this venue if you are wanting a beautiful blank slate wedding venue to work with that allows for you to pick and choose your own outside vendors! We used palace events for rentals to completely transform the space. Brian and the staff were extremely helpful with working out the logistics/ ins and outs of set up and take down with all the moving parts. The seats we picked online were not what we were expecting. The staff there helped us to get into a different set of seats that better accommodated our needs. We greatly appreciated the service they provided. Oh, and the show was great too! No bad seats to see or hear any of the performance!

A great place to see shows great audio and not a bad seat in the house. The outside events are always well organized affordable and fun. The most amazing venue in town to rent out for weddings and such very reasonable price for the memories of the omnius of the building!!! 🎉🎉🎉👍👍👍

The performance center is an amazing historical building with great acoustics. Every seat in the house is a good one. I highly recommend the center as it provides affordable cultural opportunities to our community.

La Gondola Spaghetti & Pizza House is a casual chain that specializes in sandwiches and traditional Italian dishes like lasagna and ravioli. Customers have praised the restaurant for its delicious spaghetti, which comes in generous portions during their all-you-can-eat promotion. The service is known to be friendly and fast, ensuring a satisfying dining experience. In addition to the pasta, the pizza at La Gondola is highly regarded as one of the best in town.
I think this place is such a gem! One of my favorite traditions growing up was stopping for a torpedo and garlic bread when we drove through Chillicothe. The bread is so good! The atmosphere at this location is especially warm and nostalgic!

Review written 9/22/2025. Delicious garlic bread. Best I’ve ever had. Drive up window if you call to order ahead. Very friendly and professional service.

This place was so good we came here twice. The first time we had the all you can eat spaghetti.. we couldn’t even finish our huge 1st portion! The 2nd time we ordered a dinner to go with garlic bread to share, which was the perfect portion for the two of us! The service is very friendly and fast and of course the spaghetti was delicious!!
Jamie F — Google review
Having lived out east for 9 years, it’s been nearly a decade since I’ve had a torpedo. Mind you, I had a dream about going to the LaGondola near my house from childhood a few weeks ago and had an incessant need for a torpedo ever since. Move over Avanti’s, this is the taste of childhood. The torpedo- ham, salami, American cheese and sprinkles of shredded iceberg, just as I remember, but the bread was even softer than I thought. Maybe it’s a better quality, maybe it’s the modernization I didn’t know I needed. And the garlic bread- get a loaf, a ladle of the red sauce and call it a day. Dip that loaf, heck, spoon the sauce onto the blackened sweet butter slices of garlic goodness and get your sweet fix. I have Italian restaurants out the wazoo where I live, but no one does it like LaG, the OG.

I love this place the food is very good. I love their pizza bread it is so delicious it came out at a fast and efficient time. I also recommend monster cookie deluxe it is a very good dessert and big enough too share with you and your friends. The staff is very friendly especially Allison she was very fast with taking my order. The manger was also super nice and welcoming. I very much recommend :)
Sofia H — Google review
Its 3 stars only because of the type of restaurant it is. You aren't expecting it to be like a top 5 star steak house. But for the type it is, its good. Not expensive compared to other food places, and it tastes really good. The flavor balance is really good on the gondola! Its especially good on hot days, to grab some for dinner when you dont feel like cooking.
Jacob B — Google review
My Torpedo was absolutely amazing!! The bread was so soft you could tell it was freshly baked!!! Imo waaaaay better than Avantis Gondolas!! They're longer and wider and fresher!!! ❤️

This place is amazing! Their torpedo sandwich is awesome, especially if you get it hot! Definitely a great place to eat! Highly recommend it!

The Lucca Grill is an Italian-American restaurant that has been serving delicious food and pizzas since 1936. It has a vintage atmosphere with an antique bar and tin ceiling. This hidden gem was discovered while passing through town, offering a delightful surprise. The menu includes mouthwatering dishes like Lemon Butter Garlic Shrimp Pasta and Pasta Primavera with Shrimp, as well as their famous Luca Supreme pizza. The attentive service staff provides excellent customer service, ensuring a satisfying dining experience.
Been going here for years and finally decided to leave a review. Today I got the grilled ham and cheese. It was very good. Service was attentive and helpful. Atmosphere is very cool with an ornate decorative ceiling and tons of interesting things on the walls to look at. Very cool and relaxing place to get a drink at the bar or a bite to eat.

Stumbled upon this place on our way home from Indy 500 to WI. Fell in love with everything! It’s now a yearly stop for us:) homemade comfort food, top notch!
Cassie R — Google review
I’ve lived in the area for 3 years and finally stopped here for dinner. We did not have a reservation, but we were able to quickly get a table. We ordered some cheese garlic bread and meat ravioli as appetizers - both were very good. The garlic bread had a crispy crust with a soft fluffy center with the perfect amount of flavor. The meat ravioli was well breaded with well seasoned meat inside. Both come with marinara dipping sauce. We built our own thin pizza with sausage and pepperoni - OH my GOSH! It was crispy and had a delicious combination of flavors. I will definitely be coming back. And to add the cherry on top the tiramisu was cold, creamy and rich. It was the perfect way to end such a great meal. Our waiter was phenomenal; very attentive and friendly. He took the time to have a conversation even being busy.
Taylor — Google review
It was phenomenal! The pizza was perfectly cooked. Felt like it was melting in my mouth. And the teramisu was exploding with flavors. Service was exceptional for how busy it was.
Nathan H — Google review
Great atmosphere and feels like a small town place. The buttered garlic shrimp had the noddles overcooked and flavors were just on The chicken Parm was unique and good. Nothing crazy but good.
Dave — Google review
Walked in at 6pm without a reservation and met Theres at the bar who suggested we have a drink while waiting for 2 seats at the bar. Only waited about 20 minutes before being seated near the grill. I had reviewed the menu online and knew what I wanted, and my guest had been many times before and knew EXACTLY what he would have. My drink was a perfectly made Martini and it was fantastic. When I asked if the fried chicken livers were good, Theres said the best in the county and I agree. Ordered a Caesar salad with housemade dressing and housemade croutons which was spectacular. I prefer romaine lettuce but the spring mix was tossed in the dressing and piled on the plate with freshly ground parmesan. I ate it all. Tried the Fettuccine Alfredo because she said they make the Alfredo in house and it was beyond fresh, a beautiful half portion to finish the night. I lived in Bloomington for 5 years in the 80s, how did I miss this place. All this food for $25...amazing...not including my drinks wine tax and tip. I cannot wait to go back and will make a reservation for sure. Obviously a favorite for local families...felt like home. Bravo.
Food_Addict — Google review
Yeah this place is something interesting. It’s a local joint so you get good service and welcoming atmosphere. Food is another story. SMALL portion sizes for dinners that are almost $20 with tax. Get a pizza to be filled up. Should include bread for free or something on the side. Joke of an establishment with weird smell in the staircase too. Wouldn’t return.
Lou R — Google review
There’s a reason this has lasted since 1936! The food was hot, flavorful and authentic. Our team thoroughly enjoyed the family atmosphere and highly suggest the chips and hot bread sticks for apps! Satisfied all around. Great spot with charm!

Steak house
Outback Steakhouse is a lively Australian-themed restaurant chain known for its hearty steakhouse fare and seafood dishes. The establishment, located 45 miles away, is popular among families and couples celebrating special occasions like anniversaries. The service at Outback is exceptional, with attentive servers like James who go above and beyond to ensure a pleasant dining experience. The staff members are not only personable but also efficient in their duties.
Quality food with great service. I tried the French onion soup sirloin, it was weird at first but it worked so well! I highly recommend trying it if it’s still available. The salad is fresh and doesn’t taste like it’s been sitting in a bag. The bloomin onion was crunchy and flavorful. The staff is attentive and quick. The restaurant is very clean and well managed. I got the koala punch, I’m not a fan of watermelon or mango, but I loved this drink! (I definitely only ordered it for the duck)
Taylor — Google review
My steak came out just right the 2 times I ate here. I've had better steak quality, it was at a higher end place but the price is right. 1st day it was empty around 8 and the other was busy around 7. Still got the food quickly though.
Jasinner F — Google review
Ordered the current special outback 8oz sirloin medium rare with French fries, potato soup, lobster tail, and my daughter ordered the Joey sirloin and fruit. The food was good. Servers are very polite and responsive. The owner, Taylor, is great. If you have any issues, they take care of the customer in a good manner. They want you wanting to come back. It's always nice to have great customer service! Highly recommend them.

They get absolutely packed during the typical meal hours and it's easy to see why. The food quality is at the top tier of what you would expect from an Outback steak house. Service was impeccable and our waitress was very friendly and attentive. Make sure to put yourself on the wait list via the website before you arrive..

We surprised our son for his 19th birthday. He is a student at Illinois State University. My husband and I drove from Chicago and were looking for a good place to eat. KT was our waitress, and she was awesome. The food was hot and fresh, and the restaurant was clean, even with lots of people there. I will definitely come back when we visit our son.
Cassandra J — Google review
Everything was about average for what we expected. I ordered a steak salad with a sweet potato, bloomin onion, and mozzarella cheese boomerangs.

10/10. Curtis, you revived the 00s Outback experience. The place was full and busy, yet little to no waiting time. Very clean restaurant with professional and friendly staff- top to bottom. The food was delicious and exactly how we remembered it. Now this is how a restaurant should operate in 2025! Will be coming back again & spreading the word. Your hard work won’t go unnoticed and unappreciated Curtis & staff.

Been a while……..and, I’m sorry it has been that long. We went for lunch and got right in. Server was doing things with good timing. The potato soup is really good! I tried a new thing to me called the Bloomin Chicken. I was pleasantly surprised. Co-diner had a bowl of the potato soup and loved it. We’ll need to work this into our rotation more often.

Restaurant
Alexander's Steakhouse is a vibrant chophouse known for its grill-your-own steaks, Texas toast, and baked potatoes. The restaurant caters to groups of all sizes, making it an ideal venue for various celebrations and gatherings. Guests can even customize menus with personal photos and specific menu choices. While some diners have noted slight inconsistencies in steak doneness, the overall dining experience has been positive.
Very casual spot with a 'grill your own meat' section. Although it says reservations required online, it didn't seem very crowded and I was seated in the dining area immediately. The salad bar had a nice selection that kept getting replenished. For the top sirloin I ordered, it was cooked to perfection for its size and super juicy. Overall I had a great experience.
Zhi D — Google review
The overall experience was fantastic. The service was great along with the atmosphere. The food, however, wasn't the greatest. The salad bar was great, but the steaks were all a little rough, including the filet. They could also have used a little more seasonings for the taste as well. Otherwise, it was a great experience.
Kevin L — Google review
Had to stop by at Alexander's Steakhouse. The service is wonderful. The place is well lit. There are plenty of seating options. The lobby is well cleaned and presentable. There is plenty of parking as well. The food was fantastic. I had the Ribeye, fresh steamed broccoli, and steak fries. Everything was cooked made to order. The food was very fresh. I highly recommend you stop by.
Gregory S — Google review
First time here. Waitress was very attentive to our needs and prices are fair for the quality and amount of food. I ordered a medium ribeye and think that this was properly cooked. Salad bar was super tasty as well. I would HIGHLY recommend the cookie skillet— super tasty! Would recommend if you’re in town!
Cindy D — Google review
Marie was a good waitress. She was very attentive. My salad was great! My steak was nice and tender but lacked the flavor. Potatoe 🥔 was on the small side for a fine restaurant in my opinion but was still good. This is an opportunity to cook your own steak restaurant which could prove to be nice being you could season to your liking which I did not cook my own and entrusted it to the young man doing so. I'll know next time.
Anthony D — Google review
I visited Alexander's last night based on a coworker's recommendation. As someone who travels to Bloomington twice a month from Texas, I've been on the hunt for a quality steakhouse in the area. I chose to sit at the bar, where the bartender was excellent—attentive and personable throughout my visit. I ordered the 16oz ribeye cooked medium rare with a baked potato. While the wait time was a bit longer than expected, the real disappointment came when the food arrived. The baked potato was surprisingly small, measuring only 3-3.5 inches in diameter, the smallest I've ever been served at a steakhouse. I finished it in four bites. The ribeye was a decent size, but unfortunately lacked flavor and had a grayish tint that suggested it had been previously frozen rather than fresh. The service was the highlight of the evening, but the food fell short of what I'd expect from a steakhouse, especially given the pricing and reputation. I left feeling underwhelmed and will continue my search for a great steak in Bloomington.

Service was excellent. The salad bar was fine, nothing special. Our steaks were cooked as ordered but very underseasoned.
Michele P — Google review
My sister and I wanted to celebrate our birthday with steaks! We decided to go to Alexander’s in Normal on our bday. We were super excited to learn they were open for lunch on Saturdays. We had not been there in a number of years and it looks like the dining room has not been updated in a number of years. Carpet, table, chairs were outdated. The dinning room was dimly lit and not very inviting. We were one of three tables in the entire restaurant and the service was excoriating slow. First they sat us right next to another table which was odd because the restaurant was empty. It took forever for our server to serve us for drinks, to check on us, to get us refills, to bring our appetizer, to bring our food, to check on us throughout meal, and bring us the check. It was just in a word disappointing. Our steaks were cooked to order and baked potatoes were good too. My sister and I added shrimp skewers to our filets. The shrimp were not edible and way overcooked very rubbery and impossible to eat. We did let the server know and they were taken off our bill. The dinners come with one trip to salad bar. The salad bar had some of that lettuce leaf’s that were brown in a huge bowl and we had to pick around it. The restaurant had just opened so you think someone would have removed the brown lettuce leafs before setting it out for diners. The other items on salad bar seemed fresh and tasted good. If you go on your bday you get $10 off your steak which is a good deal!! Overall, it was just an ok dining experience for the price point and lack of attentive service.
