Rockland in 4 days

If you only have 4 days to spend in Rockland, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Rockland is a small coastal city known for its classic Maine harbor views, working waterfront, and easy access to Penobscot Bay. It has a strong arts scene, anchored by the Farnsworth Art Museum and the Center for Maine Contemporary Art, both featuring notable regional and American works. Visitors come for fresh seafood—especially lobster—along with seasonal festivals such as the Maine Lobster Festival and North Atlantic Blues Festival. Nearby lighthouses, including the Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse, and opportunities for sailing and island excursions add to its appeal as a base for exploring midcoast Maine.
With favorites like Landings Restaurant, Atlantic Baking Co., and Center for Maine Contemporary Art, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Ada's Kitchen and North Beacon Oyster so you can get the best taste of Rockland while you’re here. Nestled at the northern end of town, Claws is a seasonal gem that captures the essence of coastal dining. This charming lobster shack, open from June to October, offers an array of delectable seafood delights including their renowned overstuffed lobster rolls and award-winning chowder. Guests can savor their meals on a cozy enclosed waterfront patio while soaking in stunning views of the harbor and Rockland's Main Street.
All those "Best of the Best" signs are legit. Had the lazy lobster dinner and it was fantastic. Others in my group had clam chowder, salad, and lobster rolls and we all came away more than satisfied. The seating provides great views over the bay. Service is fast and friendly. Claws is now one my favorite places in Rockland!

Don’t tell my wife, but this is MY fav place for lobster roll. The other one starts with M and ends with ‘s’ but I won’t reveal what it is. Claws loads their rolls over the top, yummy simple and fresh flavor that will burst in your mouth and remind you of the warm embrace of the sun, gentle breeze with the subtle hint of seaweeds on a sandy Maine beach with the cold one in your hand. You might even hear a soothing sound of ocean waves while you basking in the flavors of their lobster roll. It's truly meditative

Great lobster roll, minus the roll. I did a carryout order of mayo lobster on greens instead of the roll plus a side of slaw. The food was delicious! Great atmosphere, I had a cocktail while I waited for my order. It came out very quickly but I stayed to enjoy the view.
Lori A — Google review
Crispy fresh lobster with such great taste! Staff is very friendly and atmosphere was what you would expect for the greatest lobster you’ll enjoy! Overlooking sailboats in the harbor it was very relaxing. An abundant amount of lobster meat on the lobster rolls! Highly recommended

Terrific lobster and quohog clams, fab blueberry crumble. Perfect atmosphere out on the lobster pound pier. Sparkling blue water the day we were there. Very nice staff, well organized ordering and table delivery system. Heaven!!!
HarrietL P — Google review
The food was absolutely delicious! The lobster meat was so sweet and succulent. The waitstaff was kind and helpful, even tying on our lobster bibs! There was a bit of a wait for picking up drinks at the bar as the bartender was not manning the bar when I arrived to pick up my drink—but my drink was delightful! If you are looking for a lobster shack in Rockland, you should stop at Claws!
Kim C — Google review
I looked at the menu for this spot and came here soley because of the Maine Lobster Stuffed Doughnuts. I share those with my husband and got some of the Blueberry Cornbread too. The cornbread is good, but that's not why you need to come here. The doughnuts are one of the best things I've eaten this year. They're a little bit like a Crab Rangoon, but replace the wonton with a slightly sweet doughnut and then cover it in an old bay seasoned butter. I was expecting them to be small little donut holes and I couldn't have been more off base. They were huge full size doughnuts and had so much filling. This could definitely be a full meal if you didn't share it. I would go out of my way just to eat these doughnuts again.
Jacqueline T — Google review
Rarely does a restaurant redefine what a dish is supposed to taste like. Claws has done that with their lobster roll. My wife is Gluten Free so we got both regular and GF rolls. Both were amazing. If you are within 50 miles of this place, it’s worth the walk!

Lunch restaurant
Home Kitchen Cafe is a vibrant and cozy American eatery that serves breakfast and lunch made with locally sourced ingredients. The cafe offers a cheerful atmosphere and friendly service, making it a delightful dining experience. They are known for their all-day breakfast and lunch menus, featuring a variety of dishes such as omelets, pancakes, French toast, and specialty items like huevos rancheros and breakfast fried rice.
This was our favorite meal in Maine! This unassuming, humble cafe is cranking out some of the best food we’ve ever had! We came around 1pm on a Monday and while the place was packed, we were able to get seated at the counter fairly quick! Staff was friendly and our server was Kim and she was such a delight! Very attentive and we never went long without a refill on our drinks! Both my husband and I ordered the Haddock Sandwich with cheese and chips. This was simply the greatest bite of food we had in all of Maine! The in house bakery brioche bun was buttery and soft, the fish was pan fried to perfection and the Tatar sauce and cheese added a tangy zip to the sandwich that made you want more and more. It was the perfect fish sandwich. We also got a blueberry pancake to share and it was fluffy and sweet with real Canadian maple syrup on the side. This thing was packed with blueberries! The whole menu is whimsical and fun and everything sounded good. It was hard to choose what to eat but I think we made the right choice. The iced coffee was strong and they had almond milk available! Restaurant was clean and cozy. Bathrooms are clean and well stocked. This was a wonderful stop on our travels and I will think about that sandwich for a long long time!

I am so glad we stopped in here for breakfast. The menu is large but it has themes that are really nice. They are super friendly and very helpful staff. Our food was absolutely fantastic. They were busy but they turn over tables quickly. The sticky buns were delicious even though I got them to go. My breakfast burrito was fantastic. The home fries were some of the best I’ve ever had.

This place was busy. Its busy for a reason. Great food, great hospitality and amazing energy!. As a Chicana, I give the Huevos Rancheros a thumbs up! So filling and so good! If youre in the area, please take a moment. You wont be disappointed.
Mary G — Google review
This place is absolutely incredible! After reading so many glowing reviews, we had to check it out—and it did not disappoint. Even on a rainy Saturday, the place was packed. We waited about 20–30 minutes for a seat, but it was well worth it. We ended up at the counter, which turned out to be super comfortable and a great spot to take it all in. The staff was warm and attentive, and the menu? Huge. There’s something for everyone—plenty of vegetarian options with protein like tofu, and some really creative dishes (the tofu bánh mì was a standout!). They also bake fresh bread daily and offer delicious homemade treats like muffins and cinnamon rolls that are hard to resist. I honestly haven’t stopped raving about this place since we visited. The cozy, charming decor and relaxed atmosphere made it an experience as much as a meal. Can’t wait to go back!!
Christina M — Google review
Perfect quintessential East Coast Harbor Restaurant, in fact, the LLBean boot car drove by while we were there! Want to eat blueberry pancakes while in Maine, this is the place. They are delicious! Not super big, but full of flavor. Cost is up there for the size but very yummy. I ordered a side of bacon which was good but $5. So plan to spend some money. All served with homemade maple syrup. A lot of people were ordering pastries, so we got a cinnamon roll and pecan roll to go, worth it!

Service was great and the food was fantastic! Highly recommend. We got the pastrami rubin and the haddock sandwich. 10/10 on both

We stopped at Home Kitchen Cafe during a recent trip to Rockland and had such a great experience. They don’t take reservations, and there were a few parties ahead of us (it’s a popular spot, especially on weekends), but the space inside is pretty big, so we only waited about 10–15 minutes. The menu was massive, especially for lunch — everything from biscuits and gravy to burgers, omelets, pancakes, you name it. My husband ordered the biscuits and gravy after seeing all the rave reviews, and it did not disappoint. The portion was huge, it was so flavorful, and the biscuit (homemade, like the rest of their stuff!) was incredible. I got the huevos rancheros, which were good, just not exactly what I was in the mood for. It leaned a little too “healthy” for me that morning, and the sauce + beans combo made the dish a little too soupy. Still tasty, but I definitely had some food envy. We also ordered a side of the herby potatoes and a cinnamon bun, both of which were delicious, especially those potatoes. And the coffee was strong! The restaurant was bright and lively, and the staff just seemed genuinely happy to be there. Our server was amazing — super friendly, on top of everything, and constantly refilling our coffee without us having to ask. We’d absolutely come back next time we’re in Rockland.
Amaury S — Google review
Exactly the breakfast I was hoping for!!!! My photo doesn’t do it justice (bacon looks overdone in the photo but it was actually perfectly cooked). The day before, we had had a dismal breakfast elsewhere and I was dying for a good old classic eggs and bacon with toast (which the place the day before did not do right). Home Kitchen Cafe hit a home run!!! The eggs and bacon were spot on, hot, tasty, yummy. The server suggested a bakery item which we hardly ever do but we opted for one pancake and it was the BEST pancake I’ve ever had, and that was even before I put butter and syrup on it! I’ve never used so many exclamation points in a review!! 😁😋 Everyone from hostess to server was friendly and efficient. And the prices were reasonable. I’d come here every day if I could. Thank you Home Kitchen Cafe for feeding us exactly the home cooked breakfast we were looking for!!!

Cafe Miranda is a small and quirky bistro located in Rockland, Maine. While the area is known for its seafood, this cafe offers a diverse menu that includes Italian, Asian, pub food, and vegetarian options. The restaurant puts a local twist on international cuisine with dishes like Thai Chicken Noodle Soup, Cheese Steak Bomb, Tofu Groce, Lobster Pizza, and a lamb burger.
I ADORE this funky, small, casual place that's very popular with the locals. Creative menu with lots of variety. HUGE portions. Very tasty food. Friendly service. Reservations needed for evening and expect a wait at lunch, but you might get lucky like we did. We enjoyed the Pozole and the Hot Mess, a brisket delight. The side salad was large, fresh, and flavorful. Highly recommend and check out both themed bathrooms while you're there.

Very popular restaurant for dinner but we went for lunch and there was no problem getting a table and the service was attentive. Had the pork sandwich at it was very good. Homemade bread and the mustard sauce was very tasty and a bit spicy which was to my liking. The hot mess sandwich which is brisket was lacking flavor and bland would steer clear of that one. Very large menu but they were out of a couple items like crab. Not sure if I would go back.

Everything we ordered was excellent: spicy prawns with rice, crispy fried beef, scallops with chorizo and a wonderful pepperoni pizza. Cocktails were also excellent, with fantastic service. A great atmosphere with live music too.

We go to Cafe Miranda whenever we're in Rockland. The servers are fantastic. The atmosphere cheeky and comfortable. The eclectic menu with fun dish names will certainly fulfill even the pickiest of eaters. Delicious lobster macaroni & cheese. Homemade focaccia bread given with every order, and it's very tasty. They offer fresh salads, an array of appetizers, burgers, sandwiches, soups, and entrees- as well as daily specials.

Excellent drinks and amazing food. My wife and I shared the Chicken Jerry and it was so different, but so good. The girls loved their drinks and sitting outside was very nice. The only downside was the flimsy plastic utensils.
Michael K — Google review
Had a great evening at Cafe Miranda. It was, of course, an outdoor event, but the festive lights and fire pits created a fun environment. The staff worked hard to serve customers and it was a relief to be able to socialize (with masks and social distancing). They had a few hot toddies on the drink menu, which fit the bill. My husband and I ordered hot soups - black bean and white bean, both excellent! Our friends ordered pizzas. We'll definitely go again.
Julee J — Google review
As always, food was AMAZING. We met the owner and he signed a cookbook for us. Great selection, very friendly staff, very creative! Went back June 2022, still wonderful!! Had dessert and coffee.

Have been coming to Cafe Miranda for a few years now whenever I am visiting my boyfriend in Maine. This has become our favorite restaurant in the area hands down. Definitely make reservations if you are coming for dinner. We have never been for lunch but I imagine it's less crowded. They have a huge menu and we have never been disappointed with all the different things we have tried. Our absolute favorite meal is chicken jerry - try it, you won't be disappointed! (The jerry fries and jerry pizza are excellent as well!) A few of our other favorites are the gnocchi and perogies. The only thing we have been slightly disappointed was the 50mph tomatoes as it was such a tiny portion for the price (4 small slices of tomato for $12). Besides from that the portions are very generous, Cafe Miranda is definitely worth the visit!!

Rock City Café is a charming café with a rustic ambiance and an extensive menu. They offer classic café sandwiches, sweets, and beverages listed on a chalkboard menu. The café is known for its carefully curated selection of origin coffees from around the world and custom house blends. Their breakfast menu, available all day, features mouth-watering sandwich variations that can be served in different bread options. Additionally, they serve granola parfaits made from scratch with French vanilla yogurt and blueberries.
Lovely place to stop by for a bite to eat! The staff was very friendly and our food came out super quickly. Many food and drink options, freshly baked goods as well. Lots of indoor seating, and the cozy atmosphere really makes the experience. There is also a little bookstore in the back.

Rock City has solidified itself as the best coffee shop in Rockland. The staff is top tier, the espresso is perfection, and the breakfast wraps are something you can’t miss! This place is the best part of my morning!!
Katelyn L — Google review
First time visiting, I ordered a bacon, egg, & Cheddar on brioche.   They only serve scrambled aggs which were falling out of the sandwich and necessitated using a fork, but was otherwise very tasty. The Mt Battie coffee, touted as the red wine of coffee....was just ok. Not as rich and flavorful as I'd hoped/expected. I also got a couple of the rosemary garlic scones to go, which we enjoyed very much.  They didn't have a large selection of baked goods (it was about 11 a.m), but what they did have looked very tasty. Cecile brought my food over and noticed a tourist map I was reading.  She expertly guided me to the places worth seeing. And even marked the trail with a sharpie. Her recommendations definitely did not disappoint! The restaurant itself was well worn and  a bit rustic. Very busy, but plenty of seating. One recommendation would be to either get a larger trash barrel or to empty the ridiculously small one  alot more frequently, as it was overflowing.

Brewpub
American restaurant
Bar
Rock Harbor Pub and Brewery is a popular spot in Rockland, known for its housemade ales and stouts paired with American comfort food. The original pub on Main Street offers a warm, old-world ambiance where visitors can savor fresh local brews such as pale ales and IPAs alongside classic bar food like juicy burgers, sandwiches, wings, fried pickles, and cheese fries. The casual sports bar atmosphere and friendly staff make both locals and tourists feel at home.
Good Experience at Rock Harbor Pub & Brewery Finding parking in Rockland is tough, especially with an RV! Luckily, after checking in at the campground, they suggested I park at Pier 2 near the Light House Museum and Police Station. I was looking for a simple bite to eat and some time to walk around, so I stopped into Rock Harbor Pub & Brewery on Main Street. The atmosphere was great, though the service was a bit slow and disorganized. It wasn’t clear who was handling customers, but no big deal—just added a bit more time to the visit. I started with the Rock Harbor French Fries and was curious to try their Rock Harbor Beer Cheese. The fries were basic, and the beer cheese wasn't what I expected—it was more of a paste than melted cheese. For my beer, I went with the Spruce Head Stout. It had strong chocolate and coffee undertones, but the balance was a bit off—the chocolate overpowered the beer a bit. It reminded me of Young’s Double Chocolate Stout from Eagle Brewery. For my main dish, I asked the bartender for a recommendation between the tacos or another item. She suggested the Chicken Tacos, one of the most basic items on the menu. I think there was a missed opportunity to upsell, but I understand how it is being in the industry myself. The food overall was decent, and I left a good tip for the bartender on both card and cash. All in all, it was a good experience. I’ll definitely be back! #RocklandME #RockHarborPub #MaineBrews #SpruceHeadStout #PubEats #MaineBeer #RocklandEats #RVParkingAdventures #LocalBrews #GoodVibes

Good selection of dressed up pub fare. The food was great and fresh. Nice beers but out of few items. The service was friendly but they didn’t really check on us until it was time for the check.

Mediocre beer, sad excuse for a lobster roll, fries are too salty. Great location. Good service.

The Rock House burger was great, the beef stew was very tasty and the cheesecake for dessert was one of the best cheesecakes we have ever had! Their beer selection did not disappoint either! Worth the visit, for sure!
Kit R — Google review
My wife and I had lunch on a Sunday after visiting the Farnsworth Museum. We chose this because it was open and within eyesight of when we decided to grab lunch. Dumpy brewpub atmosphere. Good service. The red ale was good. My wife and I shared onion rings that were perfectly cooked and in the same light breading as the fried fish. I had the fried haddock sandwich which tasted right off the boat fresh. Perfect and matches any fired haddock I have had in New Bedford.
Charlie — Google review
Came in for drinks one evening and food another. Beer was decent (tried a few) and food was fine but nothing to rave about (fish tacos/shrimp tacos). Staff closing up around us when still open was a little annoying. Probably wouldn’t eat here again (better options within walking distance) but a good stop for a beer.
Jer D — Google review
Visited this establishment for the first time today with three other people just to enjoy a cocktail. The waitress (dark long hair) clearly had an attitude. It was obvious that she didn't want to be at work. I asked her if their Old Fashion cocktail included Luxardo cherries and she said in a curt manner...yes. The old fashion came with a Marachino cherry, so besides the attitude, it's clear that she is a waitress who happens to work behind a bar with no knowledge of standard behind the bar ingredients. Management obviously doesn't care about customer service or an employee's cocktail making experience. Most of my posts are positive, but I couldn't let this slip without holding this establishment accountable. Previous to my review this establishment had a 3.9 rating which adds credibility to my experience. Next time I will stick to my guns and avoid any establishment with a rating of less than low 4's. Do yourself a favor and don't roll the dice with this place like we did.

I'm sad to have to leave a less than 5 star this visit from yesterday, but it's in all honesty. Anyone and everyone who knows me has to listen to me rave about every visit I make to the Cafe... Rockland Cafe is my favorite go-to every time I get to the area, and I've been going for over 15 years now, multiple times a year, and I often do day trips from north of Syracuse NY just because coastal Maine is my happy place and my source of regaining my sanity when my soul is tired. Rockland Cafe is an essential part of those trips and I'm NEVER disappointed. However, I brought my 11 year old autistic grandson who has very limited food tolerance, as well as my 39 year old son, and chicken tenders is something my grandson will eat. I always get the scallops because they are OUTSTANDING! I an NEVER disappointed! My grandson was so excited when he saw Buffalo chicken tenders on the menu and he only wanted those with fries (btw, their fries are amazing, as well as their onion rings!) My son and I ordered our scallops because, well, what scallops lover can even think of going to Rockland Cafe and not get them?! They just make my New England heart so happy (yes, I'm born and raised in New England, an unwilling and temporary transplant to central NY). We took our order to go so we could sit by the beautiful harbor. While my son and I relished our amazing scallops, my grandson picked up his first chicken tender with a huge wrinkle on his face and said it was really soggy. He took a small bite and gagged because of the texture. My son went to try it because he wanted to see if it was really that bad (and he eats everything not nailed down) , said its gross, just way too soggy and just mush. So that was a total bust. But seriously, stick to their seafood and you'll never be disappointed! I'll still be back every time, because they never disappoint in the seafood department. They're chowder are to die for as well. I absolutely pains me to take off points from this review, but just don't order those tenders.

Very busy and quaint Maine restaurant. Tight fitting with tables on top of each other. Clam chowder was sub par with very few clams, too many potatoes and no flavor. However, the lobster stew was amazing but expensive at $31 Per cup. Server was attentive and nice. Short wait for food but overall a solid 4.

We ended up in Rockland for a night and lucked up and found this food gold mine! It's the perfect laid-back place. FYI: There are 2 entrances, one on the main street and a lower level entrance behind the building with a staircase to take you up. There's also parking back there. Take the alleyway right past the front. It will take you to parking behind it. The food was beyond great 6 stars in my book. I had the special beef stroganoff with noodles. My fiancee had the lobster roll. Service was top-notch. On a funny side note, my fiance and i are from Georgia, so it was great hearing the thick Maine/New England accents from the staff. It was like having the Kennedy family serve us dinner. Lol. Don't waste your money on a chain restaurant if you come through Rockland, spend it here on some great local food and people.

Stopped by for a lobster roll on the way back from Bar Harbor. Very few chunks of lobster. Instead, almost shredded and swimming in mayo. Also, the bun is not your typical lobster roll bun. Cash only.

You go here for seafood - and a lot of it. My wife had the double lobster and I had a fish basket. She really enjoyed the lobster. I felt the fish basket was just “ok”. I would not get it again. I expected small pieces of fried fish like in the photo but it was just a slab of fish with very little batter. The French fries were good as was the coleslaw.

Dropped by for lunch. Service here is basic. Don’t expect bells and whistles. But the food is phenomenal. I’ve never had a lobster roll in anything other than the usual toasted hot dog shaped bun. This one came in a roll! It felt more meaty than the usual and I enjoyed the lobster meat to bun ratio. The seafood stew was also amazing. It’s all seafood. Clams, lobster, shrimp, scallop, etc. no potatoes....wow. I want some more of this!! Best I’ve ever had!

Wish I could rate this place more than 5 stars! We were out for a drive and found ourselves hungry in Rockland, ME. We saw this little cafe and thought “why not?” I’m SO glad we stopped here. The food is homemade end the portions are huge. The staff is friendly and on the ball. I got the Prime Rib Beef Stroganoff and Oleg got the smelt platter. Even the lady’s restroom was adorable with hand-painted accents! We’ll ABSOLUTELY be back!!

Amazing dinner. I had the clam linguine a limon. It was probably the best pasta dish I've ever had. It always seems to be busy, which is a good indicator! Inside it's a hive of activity with very attentive and responsive servers. Glad we chose this for our last dinner in Rockland.

Spent $100 here on New Year’s Eve. Hostess was rude, acted like she hated her job. She didn’t even speak to my husband went he went inside to pick up our to-go order. Just shoved a bag in his hand and that was that. Paid $17 for the cheese snack plate appetizer and it looked like something you would get at a gas station. Not worth the money. Paid $5 for bread and dipping oil and only got a measly amount of bread wrapped in tin foil and no oil or dipping anything. Also not worth the money. Meatballs were dry and lasagna had so much cheese on top that it was nauseating. $100??? Take your hard earned money elsewhere.

I will begin with the punchline. The food here is fine, but nothing was particularly outstanding. Ada's Kitchen is on Main Street in downtown Rockland, and so is very convenient. The place was packed on a Wednesday, so make reservations. We started with cocktails. My Ada's negroni was fine, reasonably balanced. Their old-fashioned was also good. We ordered bread, and for $5, it was a rather small amount. We had to ask for the olive oil. The first things out were the salads. The chopped salad was delicious. Very nice picture of veggies. The peach and burrata salad was literally a mountain of arugula, dressed with balsamic syrup. The burrata and peach were a good foil for all that very bitter arugula. However, yikes! Too much bitter greens! The brought out the wrong pasta, but were happy to exchange it. I had the lobster linguine. It was a big portion, but oddly lacking in flavor. The lemon seafood linguine was also a big portion, but again oddly lacking in flavor. Cheese would have helped, and they did bring out a shaker of Parmesan and dried chili flakes. The ragu was good, and the pasta al dente. They accommodated a fussy child with a pizza with no sauce. She was quite happy, as was our other child, who had a nice bowl of buttered noodles. The service was fine, and the place has lively feel.

We absolutely loved it! We sat at the bar and were waited on my the two bartenders, I believe their names were Stacy and Tony - what a team! Excellent cocktails, great recommendations and lovely service, even while the rush was going on. I had the carbonara, just so delicious for a simple pasta, and my partner the pizza - nice thin crust and cooked to our specifications! What a gem!

Great atmosphere. Food was fine, but fell short of expectations.

By far my favorite restaurant in the area! The food is wonderfully balanced. The more indulgent dishes still feel fresh, and the drink selection has a lot of variety. I can not recommend the mushroom & garlic ravioli with sage and pink peppercorn sauce enough! The atmosphere is busy but rarely overwhelming - clean, good lighting, kind and knowledgeable staff, great vibes all around (especially when they have live music).

Cocktail bar
North Beacon Oyster is a laid-back restaurant that serves up a delectable selection of oysters, seafood dishes, and shareable plates alongside an array of cocktails, wine, and beer. The Maine Revolvah cocktail comes highly recommended by chef/owner Mike Mastronardi for its simplicity and potency. The restaurant offers both dine-in and take-out options but dining in is suggested to fully enjoy the bright and airy space that complements the fresh and straightforward menu.
Gem in Rockland downtown. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal, server awesome, met owner and the chef! Small dining room with excellent atmo, music well suited. A lot of seafood choices and a few land fare. Recent New menu offerings, lunch is also new. Haddock sandwich with pickled onion, slaw and parmesan garlic fries very good!

We’ve never had such an awful dining experience and it was terribly upsetting. The owner is RUDE and ARROGANT. We were both looking forward to eating here and would’ve never expected such a horrid experience. We got there early but owner said he’s running on schedule so come back. So we left and walked around the area. When he said this we felt he was a bit curt. Okay, we figured he’s busy so he flustered. We returned exactly 2 minutes before our reserved time & he seated us. Our waitress took our order promptly. She was a sweetheart but very flustered from a large table she had. My husband ordered a cup of soup and I ordered 1/2 dozen oysters. My oysters came fast, but no soup. We waited a total of 20 minutes for a basic cup of soup. My oysters were okay but the chowder tasted like dishwater. Our main course Cioppino and Fish and Chips was taking forever so we said something the our server who went to check. It was now almost a full hour and we told our waitress again….. That’s when she said that the owner was coming over. When he came over we said to him it’s an hour we’ve been here and no food. He was curt and said the food will be coming. Finally our food came and it was absolutely horrible. The fish and chips tasted like iodine and sour. The breading was flavorless and fries cold and soggy. I couldn’t eat it. My husband’s Cioppino tasted like someone poured bad tomato juice and threw pepper in it. It was awful. We informed our waitress about this and she said the owner will come and talk to you..again! He asked what was wrong with our food and we told him in detail. I also said we waited and hour…. He said “but you got your food”. That was wrong to say. I said to him bring us our check so we can leave. I said this several times to the waitress as well. He finally said dinners on him. I said I’ll pay for what we ate and he said no he’s covering the dinner and we could leave. But he was curt and horribly rude to us. We’ve never been spoken to like this before with such attitude from an owner. We were starving by now at 8:45pm. That’s 2 hours we dealt with this. Horrible place and not worth the hype. We did tip the waitress since it was not her fault. The restaurant is extremely small and is very loud.

We loved our meal at North Beacon Oyster this weekend. We sat outside, which was perfect on a nice day, but the inside looked warm and inviting with a great atmosphere. The fish tacos were next-level good and beautifully plated. The Brussels sprouts and the “Smoke & Honey” cocktail were also delicious. We had the chance to meet the owner, and it was so nice to feel genuinely welcomed. You can tell there's real care behind everything here. If you're in the area, this place is absolutely worth a stop. Great food, great drinks, and lovely all around. We will definitely be going back soon!

I got great service from the moment I walked through the door. I could eat the crab cakes all day for a few weeks. Fried calamari salad was wonderful. The batter they use is delicious. Fries and the Cajun dipping sauce is so damn good. Drinks were quite good and I made sure to go for a long walk after 2. Don't forget desert!

We had a great dining experience and although the restaurant is known for its oysters, as a vegetarian, I was pleasantly surprised to find a solid selection of dishes. I had the chopped salad (without bacon) and the brussel sprouts - which were crisped perfectly. The rest of my party loved the fish tacos. The service was exceptional. Kim, our waitress, was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. The owners also made the rounds, checking in to ensure guests were enjoying their meals—a nice personal touch that made the experience feel even more welcoming.
Doreen — Google review
We were looking forward to dining here. The good were my cocktail and the chowder. The bad, well everything else. The service was as close to non-existent as possible, which was surprising as there were two servers and just about the same number of occupied tables. Beer was flat and had an off taste. Fried clams were inedible cardboard-- every road side stand in Maine does them better. Fries were soggy, and the "Parmesan" fries were soggy fries covered in what seemed like ranch dressing. Yuck. Coleslaw was bland and unappealing. When we said we were finished to the server she didn't even ask why we didn't even eat a 1/3 of our food. $100 wasted for lunch for two.
Andrea A — Google review
We didn't have a reservation but they squeeze us in. We were blown away by the amazing food and phenomenal service! Whether you're just visiting the area or if you're a local I highly recommend North Beacon Oyster.

We were recommended this restaurant by our hotel manager and thought it would be great from the vibe that was happening the night we went in to book. We were placed near the toilets despite being a handful of bookings that night. Our waitress , v keen to get our order seemed to be completely flummoxed by what she had written down and what came out from the kitchen . Numerous times our order went to the table next door to us , crude salmon was bought out instead of scallops for our starter--- no-one seemed to know what was happening. The food seemed overpriced compared to what we had experienced the previous night.

Coffee shop
Dunkin' is a well-established chain known for its iconic breakfast offerings and an array of coffee beverages. Despite some mixed reviews about wait times and parking inconveniences, many customers appreciate the quick service and polite staff. The menu features popular items like everything bagels with vegetable cream cheese, breakfast tacos, and frozen chocolate drinks. While some locations may be small with limited seating, patrons can still enjoy their tasty treats either in-store or via the drive-thru.
Long wait and sucks so bad the drive threw is in different place then the parking lot you can’t pull in we’re all the parking spots are and get to the drive threw you have to pull out into traffic witch it’s the busy side of the store just to pull into the drive threw it’s annoying

Idk whats going on but 2 days in a row. There employees are slow. There's always a long wait. Got my coffee wrong 2 times and I travel over a hour and half for work. I dont recommend this dunkin. Nobody has the will power to work and make sure coffee are correct.

Normally I’m a huge fan Dunkin, but the customer service here leaves something to be desired. Case in point - if the employee makes a mistake on an order, the customer shouldn’t be obligated to go through the drive thru again to rectify it. Make it right at the window. Everything else was good beyond this.

From flaky croissants to decadent cakes, their display cases are stocked with sweet and savory wonders. The bakery prides itself on making everything from scratch, including puff-pastry dough.
Loved it! We got 2 baguettes, 2 eclairs, carrot cake, and cheesecake. It was delicious! My Grandpa doesn’t eat much, but he scarfed down the carrot cake! Personally, I had an eclair and it was so good; the filling wasn’t too sweet and the dark chocolate coating added a bitterness that allowed ✨perfection✨ in my mouth 🤤

Every time I visit ABC it's so incredibly good. From their cookies, to their cakes to breakfast sandwiches. Last year I got a little cake to celebrate my birthday and I still think about how yummy it was. Their staff is also ridiculously friendly and very attentive.

After visiting several pastry shops along the southern Maine coast, the Atlantic baking company prove to be far superior. We found a larger quantity of pastries, along with higher quality and presentation. My wife had the quiche which she said was the best she had eaten in a long time and I had the maple bacon topped croissant that was fabulous. I had a difficult time choosing from all the delicious looking choices. Their coffee was very good. They have a nice relaxed atmosphere in which to eat. The prices were premium for the pastries, but the taste was outstanding. Would definitely stop and try one of their delectables.

Mid at Best… Maybe it was the surly service or possibly the dining room that seemed to be assembled as an afterthought but this bakery could try harder. That said the bakery products we bought were ok. Chocolate chip cookie, ginger molasses cookie, almond bear claw, and ice coffee.

I had such a positive experience here a couple of weeks ago. They have a nice little spot to eat outside and the gluten free sanwiches and coffee were both awesome, but what really made the experience for me was the customer service, so I wanted to give a shout out to Danny. I mistakenly thought they had forgotten a coffee for my order, and he remade it for me. Then I realized they had already made it, and he was just so kind and gracious about the whole thing. Top notch, old school customer service, Dan…you don’t find it every day. It made a little coffee shop memorable. Thank you and God bless!

Delicious bakery items never disappoint! This is my go-to place for either treating someone, or just meeting up for a casual coffee/cookie etc. Recently tried their smoothies and were pleasantly surprised as they were double the flavor and half the price of the smoothie place down the street. Always a fantastic experience with the bakery items (especially the molasses ginger cookies)!

With its inviting decks and ample windows, you can enjoy your meal while soaking in the picturesque scenery of Rockland, regardless of the weather. My wife & I had a wonderful dining experience, beginning with warm greeting from the hostess when entered Archer’s. Our waitress was very helpful with my questions about the various entries I was interested in. I settled for the Lightly Broil Italian Haddock. By far the best broiled fish recipe I eaten in along time. My wife ordered Flounder Florentine, which was absolutely amazing.

I would absolutely eat there again and would not hesitate to recommend. Loved it.

I was staying in Portland and my son suggested we drive up to Rockland for the day. I found this restaurant on Google Maps. The description was very accurate. The restaurant is located on the water and has a great view of the bay. The food was excellent. Hands down this was the best lobster roll I had in Maine. The clam chowder was also very good. My son had the chicken Caesar wrap and he said was good. This restaurant was well worth the 1 hour and 45 minute drive. I plan on coming back in the future. I would highly recommend coming to this town and experiencing this restaurant.

Beautiful little beach. Went right before a thunderstorm. The waves were getting stronger. Sea glass was everywhere and people were collecting. I enjoyed sitting on a bench watching the weather change and little kids running from the waves. Nice place to eat lunch and enjoy the scenery

This is a small beach, but it is refreshing if you’ve been on the road for a while. Lots of birds, people with dogs, kids, etc. so it is a pretty active spot. I took one star off for the kind of risky staircase that leads down to it and how absolutely disgusting and overfull the porta-potty was, but otherwise it’s a nice spot to stop and get some ocean air.
Chris P — Google review
Please fix the stairs leading down to the beach. It's an absolutely gorgeous area otherwise. Up above the beach you can enjoy lunch while sitting at the picnic tables. If you want to walk, there is a walking trail nearby. What my daughter and I love about this beach is that if you walk over the rocks towards the right side of the main beach area, you will find what my daughter and I call a 'seashell beach'. I have never seen something similar in New England. That one beach in between two outcropping of rocks seems to attract an endless amount of shells. (Current? ) I would love to find out why this happens. There are usually at least two porta potties near the picnic area which is a plus if you are traveling with kids.

The Maine Lighthouse Museum in Rockland is a must-visit for maritime enthusiasts. It houses a fascinating collection of lighthouse lenses, foghorns, lightships, and other life-saving equipment used along the coast of Maine. The museum showcases the essential role played by lighthouses and their personnel through vintage artifacts such as lights, lenses, brass bells, documents, and photographs that narrate the history of American lighthouses.
We visited the museum after it was recommended by the Bixby Chocolate shop staff. We visited several lighthouses while vacationing in Maine. It seemed like a fitting thing to do. We did not buy tickets in advance and we did not have to wait but it was November so maybe plan ahead in the summer. There is a lot of educational material in this museum. There is a gift shop as well with some artwork and other keepsakes.

This was a very neat experience. My husband and I spent a long time here reading all the information and learning about lot about lighthouses. There were a huge variety of displays and historical stories. A perfect place to spend a rainy morning! I'd definitely recommend if you are traveling the coast to stop here. We enjoyed and appreciated the rest of our trip so much more with the knowledge we learned here.

The Maine Lighthouse Museum was a fascinating and enlightening experience. The museum is a tribute to coast guardsman, Kenneth Black, whose foresight in saving and procuring antiquated equipment and technologies has enabled this historical display of lighthouse evolution and its maritime importance. The museum is a MUST for anyone who loves lighthouses. Your love and appreciation will only deepen!

This museum was very interesting and went over the technology, history, and life on lighthouses here in Maine. The wife really likes lighthouses so we had to stop and tour it. For a modest fee you get to wander around the grounds for as long as desired. After checking out all of the exhibits and watching a short film we made it through the gift shop without the wife spending too much and was on the road again. A nice stop though full of information on the people that once guarded the shores and navigable waterways of America.

The Maine Lobster Festival, held in the charming coastal town of Rockland, is a five-day extravaganza celebrating all things lobster. Taking place annually around the first weekend of August, this internationally renowned event features an impressive twenty thousand pounds of lobster and a wide array of activities. From the world's largest lobster cooker to cooking contests, carnival rides, entertainment, and a seafood cooking contest, there's something for everyone at this festival.
Fun festival to check out if you happen to be visiting Maine. We were able to see step by step how the lobsters are steamed and “walked” to the distribution to be sold for consumption. The town is small and cute, nice views of the water. Do check out the visitor’s center too. Lots of great information about the area and nature preservation efforts.

5 out of 5! We traveled from Northwest Arkansas for this event. Ran into one of the event Organizers (Cecilia), who literally welcomed us with open arms. Very well organized. The lobster was AMAZING. Don't miss out on the all you can eat Maine blueberry pancake breakfast! So delish. On the second day of the festival, surprise visit from the USS Arlington. Free ferry ride out to tour the ship. Total blast. And lastly, the plethora of vendors. What a great experience!

I've wanted to attend the Maine Lobster Festival in Rockland, ME since I first found out about it in 2020. I loved that admission to the festival itself was free. The $32 for the lobster, corn on the cob and coleslaw was reasonable. The lobster was absolutely delicious. We opted to also purchase a shrimp cocktail for a small extra charge. It was a good portion size and super tasty. The entertainment was really good (especially Bait Bag!) and varied in style. There was a very good selection of vendors; a little something for everyone. The food trucks were fun and varied as well. Jolie Rogers Oyster Bar (the Wet Smack oysters were incredible) and CF Bacon were my two favorites!! I would definitely go back in 2026!

Horrible! I know the volunteers are doing their best with what they have to work with. The biggest problem is the fact that you pick up your hot food and then you have to wait in a 10 to 15 minute line to pay for your food. By that time, your food is cold and nasty. Who in the hell wants to pay $85 for three cold lobsters? My wife and I both observed people just bypassing the line altogether and going and eating their food. I don't know if they ever went back and paid for it or not. One guy had four trays of double lobsters and walked right by the checkout area. The steamed clams were absolutely horrid. By the time we got them to the table, they were cold. Many of them were broken, and even of those that were not, there was no way to tell whether they were alive when they were put in the steamer or not. In other words, there was no way to tell whether they were good or bad to eat. After paying $24, we figured it was wise to just throw them all away. Then there's the souvenir stand. We found some nice souvenir t-shirts and bags that we were planning to buy however, someone pointed out that the line for the single cash register went all the way around the entire tent and we would probably looking at a 20 to 30 minute wait to check out. We decided to leave our items there. I would never go back to the Lobster Fest, nor would I recommend anyone ever attended it. For the price of the lobster dinners as well as the price of any nearby hotel stay, you could certainly buy a hell of a lot of lobsters right close to wherever your home is.
Michael P — Google review
Free entry, but be prepared to pay well for everything else, of course the lobster is worth it. The USS ARLINGTON was in port, and had free tours of the ship, Very informative, different operations and parts of the ship were well explained, the crew was polite, friendly and professional. Lots to eat, and a lot going on, too much to list here.

We came all the way from N.Y. 6hrs drive.. it was not really why I expected, I really though that there will be different vendors making different dishes with lobster or a variety of different ways . but in reality maybe 2 to 3 real vendors selling the actual lobster. no lobster baked Everyone else a lot of fried stuff. Tables were ok. it was more like it remind of a school when you sitting in benches. It was not what I expected. I would not recommend or come back sorry not my cup of tea.

Additionally, it features the Landings Marina and a public landing for boaters while being part of the scenic 5-mile long Rockland Harbor Trail.
Enjoyed the park even in the rainy weather. Great views of the harbor and can see right from the car on rainy days. We watched some loons diving and catching fish.

Clean and pretty. There are cool shipping things, buoys and a giant anchor. Even some delicious and affordable food truck k eats next door!

Great place to rest and take in the beauty of the harbor while sipping on a latte with a gf dessert or divulging to a huge sweet ice cream cone. Walking the footbridge is the best before enjoying a treat to end the day. Convenient and clean public restrooms nearby the public parking area.

This place is the best, always fresh pigeon and seagulls on the menu. And it's all you can eat so go with an appetite. You won't go away hungry. I'd give 5 star but it's alot of work plucking ur own dinner

We were there for the Lobster festival. It was absolutely fantastic! Family friendly, tons of booths, and games, and vendors selling everything. Plenty of places to take pictures of the town and harbor. Gorgeous little Maine town. Even without the festival it'll be a great place to visit and experience

Went for lobster fest. The vendors and lobster cooking was amazing. Got to walk out on the dock where there was a lady on her sailboat letting people walk on it which was super fun. However I got a lobster roll and it was super disappointing. Very expensive just like I see for other restaurants but almost no meat and on white bread. Very disappointing for my first ever lobster roll.

Jess's Market in Rockland, Maine is a top choice for those seeking the freshest and widest selection of local seafood. Whether you're a local or a restaurant owner, this market has got you covered. If they don't have what you need, just ask and they'll likely be able to source it for you. Visitors can take home the freshest fish from the Maine coast, shipped right to their door on dry ice.
I wish I lived closer! They carry a bunch if different seafood, all priced very reasonably. I appreciated that they included where each product was sourced from on the price tag. I got six 1-lb lobsters, which were $8 each. They helped me pack them up to travel pack to Pennsylvania and they survived the trip well! They tasted wonderful when we cooked them at home.

This is a great place to get live lobsters. They have a beautiful collection of fresh fish to buy, including fresh local lobsters. They also have a lot of cooked seafood items, as well as wine, beer, cider, and lots of meal go-withs, like crackers and dips. It really has a well-curated inventory.

We come here everytime we are coastal in Maine. Great people, great lobster and great prices! They even ship so if you are near have em steam a few for you! If not have em shipped. It's a win win!

Wife and I spent a week of vacation in Rockland w/ some good friends. After trying lobster rolls from Bar Harbor to Kittery, we decided to stop by Jess’s to make our own. Got 4 whole lobsters freshly steamed, took them back to our hotel and were blown away at the quality and value. It was so good, we made a 2nd trip on our last night in Maine. We purchased 4 steamed lobsters and 3 lbs of 16-20 ct shrimp. Once again - Jess’s didn’t disappoint. I would highly recommend anyone to visit if you’re nearby. Great service and food!!

Incredible selection of fresh seafood. We got a 3.5lb lobster and it was one of the sweetest and tender I've ever had. Also got 3 of their 4 oyster options, they were also delicious, just wish they sold mignonette!

Jesse's Market is a great seafood company on US-1 with some of the freshest seafood around. They have been enjoying serving the community in business for the past 37 years and it has been passed down keeping the company in the family. They offer both soft and hard shell live Maine lobsters, also a wonderful variety of delicious sea fair from shrimp to Salmon, Cod to Halibut, Tuna to squid etcetera. You can also order you lobsters and have them perfectly steamed before you pick them up. The staff is always attentive and extremely helpful getting you exactly what you want to order. They offer plenty of amenities like spices and rubs to flavor your seafood your own way. The also have wine and libations to quench your palate or just pair with your favorite seafood dish. They even offer to ship you lobsters overnight anywhere in the USA via Fedx and that is just awesome.

Always fresh lobsters, shellfish, and fish. A nice cooler with a variety of beverages. A few fish-adjacent pantry items. The service is prompt. Can't go wrong.

Nestled in the heart of Rockland, Park Street Grille is a beloved spot that captures the essence of Maine's casual dining scene. With its inviting ambiance and friendly service, this eatery is perfect for those seeking a relaxed meal. Guests rave about their mouthwatering burgers crafted from locally sourced beef and their unique twist on classic fish and chips. We had such a great time here! The lobster wontons and crab cakes were amazing! And the drinks so we'll made and reasonably priced! The staff was very friendly and attentive. And we even got to watch a football game! We definitely recommend!

New ownership is knocking it out of the park with the recent improvements. They now have music nights, brunch, and other changes that keep us locals coming in. The staff and owner are incredible and care about the people. Makes a huge difference when you have so many dining options to choose from. Two thumbs up and an a OK from this loyal customer.

Good food. Decent prices. I had lobster roll sandwich, mussels, wings, nachos, and some other stuff shared by family. Drinks were potent, and service was reasonable considering the size of our party. The mussels were a slight bit overcooked but still very good. I’d happily go here again, especially because of the free chips and salsa. We sat outside and it is covered, with a nice breeze from the ocean.

Though raised in the Midwest, my family is from California & my mom cooks great Mexican food… so I was prepared to be disappointed when I first went to try the fare at this popular local restaurant- in several visits I have never been disappointed. Though (not surprisingly) not quite ‘equal’ to the best I’ve ever had, their Mexican and Southwest-inspired dishes are REALLY delicious, and very generous in portion size (just TRY to finish even a half-order of their nachos by yourself!). The friendly staff complete a great dining experience. Thank you Park Street Grille! :)
Aaron P — Google review
Loved it here. Josh was our waiter and had the best suggestions for us! We went in what I guess was a blues night and the atmosphere was amazing! Would suggest this to anyone visiting Rockland!!
Trevar C — Google review
My mom described this as Mexican restaurant but as someone from the West Coast, the atmosphere was more like a grill/pub that had Mexican fare (and some seafood that looked so good I wasted it all! ) However you describe it, the Mexican food (I had the 2 enchiladas with shredded beef) was very, very good. The salsa with the chips was super tasty and my watermelon 🍉 margarita 🍹 was delicious! (Thx Jill) onion 🧅 ring appetizers were fat and perfect. Spacious inside, staff was awesome, we had lively conversation with the other folks around the bar. All around recommend! 👌

Should be 5 stars for a bar and grille, but they are inflexible with offering healthy options. For example, don't want fries with the burger, nope they can't do that. To me, that means the customer doesn't matter. Their menu matters to them. BUT the salsa is great! Food is good bar food. We came twice.

While traveling across ME, we discovered this gem. The food was amazing, the service was fantastic. Shannon the bar tender was so friendly and fun. Josh, the bar back was fun to chat with. A very upbeat place with friendly people.

What a fabulous spot! A group of us went out for a casual, dinner and loved it. Most people ordered the lobster roll, priced at $31, and thoroughly enjoyed them. Lots of fresh lobster, lightly dressed, in a toasted buttered hot dog roll. And the accompanying fries were great! Drink prices were quite reasonable too and the service was very friendly and accommodating. And the view down to the harbor is spectacular! You can eat indoors or outdoors on their covered patio. Don’t miss this great spot when you are in the area!👍❤️❤️❤️

Calamari was fresh. Lobster pie was fine, but the crab, ritz cracker crust overpowered the taste of the lobster.

Visiting for the annual Lobster Festival and stopped in for dinner. Seated right away, the interior of the restaurant is charming, homey and unpretentious. The hostess was super sweet, I didn't catch her name but she wears "444" and I totally get it 😉. The mussels appetizer were the star of the show, and we can't stop talking about them. Sizeable and in the most delicious white wine broth! Of course the buttered, grilled bread was used to dip into the sauce, but I used the shells to spoon it up like soup. Perfection! We also split the combo plate of haddock, shrimp, scallops & clams. The slaw was fresh, crisp, creamy with just a hint of sweet. The fries had just a little coating, super crisp with fluffy interior. The whole meal was fantastic. Our server, Kiara, was pleasant, efficient and gave us a great dining experience.
Debbi R — Google review
We visited Hill’s Seafood in Rockland on a Sunday afternoon after a local recommendation. The appeal was that it’s not on the waterfront and supposedly more affordable than some of the harbor-facing spots. Unfortunately, our experience didn’t reflect that. Parking wasn’t easy. There were only a few spaces on one side of the building, and street parking was essentially nonexistent. We arrived around 4:15 PM and were seated immediately, even as the late-day crowd began to build. The hostess was warm, and our waitress was friendly and attentive. Service was not the issue—it was the food and pricing that left us disappointed. We ordered two lobster rolls and opted to swap the fries for garden salads. The lobster was sweeter than expected but lacked the depth of flavor we associate with fresh Maine lobster. The portion was small, served in a basic hot dog bun that was wet and underwhelming. The roll didn’t hold up well, and for the price, there simply wasn’t much lobster meat. The garden salads were the best part of the meal—fresh, crisp, and well-portioned. Pricing was a major disappointment. The lobster roll was $35 each, and swapping fries for salad added $4 each, yet the cost of the fries wasn’t deducted. We were also charged $2 each for a small container of what they called “Connecticut style” butter—not real butter, and not offered as an option. A single Coke was $3.75. Even the water had a bitter taste. The total for two people came to $85.75 before tip, and over $100 after tip. For a casual seafood spot with no waterfront view and a very basic setup, that felt excessive. The restaurant does offer indoor and outdoor seating, with the outdoor area covered by an awning. The atmosphere was relaxed, and the staff were kind. But for the amount we spent, the food didn’t deliver. We were hoping for a hidden gem off the beaten path, but instead found ourselves questioning the value. We wouldn’t return, and we’d advise others to review the menu carefully and ask about upcharges before ordering.

Hill's Seafood ended up being our favorite meal of the whole trip! The portions were generous, everything we tried was delicious, and the prices were very reasonable. Service was friendly and attentive, which made the experience even better. The Cajun Parmesan Haddock was outstanding and my personal favorite, and the scallops were cooked perfectly. Even dessert was fantastic. Highly recommend!

With a few days in Rockland, we wanted good seafood. We asked around, tried a few restaurants, but one night Delton Hill’s Seafood Co for dinner. Had to wait 20 minutes for a table, but so worth the wait!! Clam chowder was one of the best we’ve had in Maine!! Wife had clams, I had broiled haddock!! TERRIFIC!! No room for dessert, but we returned two days later for lunch!! Kudos to Olivia and Rosie who served us so well!!!
Douglas R — Google review
I stopped in here after attending the Maine Boat and Home Show. The location is very convenient and close to the water. The atmosphere and service were ok, typical fish house feel. I had the clam chowder and a coffee! Both were steaming and delicious. The chowder was thick, chunky and tasty. Can't ask for more than that...and I didn't! Glad I stopped, but I don't think I would return.

Dry Dock is a charming waterfront establishment located at the edge of Rockland Harbor. This airy and beautifully designed eatery offers a delectable selection of top-notch seafood dishes. The service provided by Lindsay, one of their attentive staff members, was exceptional. Despite some noise from the lively bar area, it did not detract significantly from the overall dining experience. Dry Dock impresses with its early dinner availability and being open on Mondays in Rockland.
My husband and I stopped here on a whim during our trip to Maine, visiting from South Carolina. Our food was absolutely delicious as we enjoyed their fresh Haddock, hand cut fries, coleslaw and unbelievable Lobster bisque with large bites of Maine lobster. Our server was extremely hardworking, and we spent time speaking with the Owner - all their team was extremely friendly, kind and made us feel at home right away. The waterfront view was exactly what we were looking for, and hope we can return and enjoy what was a 5 Star experience. Highly recommend to anyone traveling through. Cheers!
Ashley L — Google review
The interior here is a little rough as well as some of the bar patrons that were very loud and drunk. Food is quite good. I had the blackened haddock tacos that were good with asparagus on the side. My wife had the lobster risotto which was excellent but could have done without the parmesan cheese on top that overpowers seafood in a risotto. Clam chowder is good here as well. Service was so so with the waitress taking care of customers outside as well as inside so we were left waiting for drinks for quite some time.
Joshua Y — Google review
We enjoyed a beautiful afternoon dining by the water, surrounded by the sounds of birds chirping and waves splashing against the docks. The atmosphere was relaxing and made for the perfect coastal experience. The food was phenomenal—fresh shrimp cocktail, creamy chowder, a crisp Caesar salad, and an absolutely delicious lobster roll with golden fries and coleslaw. Everything was prepared wonderfully and full of flavor. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 was the persistent bee that decided to join us and wouldn’t leave, which disrupted the otherwise peaceful meal. Not the restaurants fault as Mother Nature is outside their control of course. Overall, highly recommend for anyone looking for fresh seafood and a waterfront view! Highly highly recommend!
Lita N — Google review
Very good food and very fast service! The fries and the salad were very good too. The homard is huge. You need to try this place at least once! The view on the ocean while eating worth it.
Jannick B — Google review
Nice little spot. The lobster bisque was good. $34 for a bowl but it came with ample lobster. Haddock fish tacos are good. Crab cakes were decent. Lots of crab meat and not a lot of "filler" such as breading, which is good, but a little heavy on the mayo. Good views of the harbor.
Kenneth B — Google review
Food 10/10… not too expensive. We loved our waiter, he cawd at the birds, absolutely loved him! Drinks good! Atmosphere picturesque! Weather great!
Rachael E — Google review
Absolutely incredible food, we shared the tourist lobster roll, 1 1/4 pound steamed lobster and Caesar salad. Our waiter had the best (dry) humor and took great care of us! The only complaint was the yellow jackets hanging around our food toward the end of the meal, which obviously isn’t their fault, because we were outside!
Abbey U — Google review
I pre ordered a lobster roll to go. I was about 15 minutes late, so it wasn't warm anymore. I'm sure it would have tasted better if I had picked it up on time. Ordering and pick up was quick. We walked from the ferry to the restaurant, it was nice.

Trackside Station was a great surprise! I had the jalapeño popper smash burger, and it was phenomenal, crispy, spicy, and packed with flavor. The live music tonight gave the whole place an awesome energy, and you could tell everyone was having a great time. Great food, great vibes. I’ll definitely be back!

This place is SO cool and the food is awesome! Located in an old train station, Trackside is a great place to get lunch or dinner. Excellent appetizers and delicious entrees. Their fish tacos are the best, and their fries are so good. You really can’t go wrong with anything on their menu. The service is also great, and it’s clean. Love coming here when I’m in Rockland. Highly recommend! PS try the blueberry brûlée cheesecake….!

Crab fries & tacos were excellent followed with lemon cello mascarpone cake! Wonderful! Service was great! Halloween decoration disappointing as it’s not our thing. It is a sports bar with great food.
Ted B — Google review
I ordered over the phone for two appetizers. Wings and pretzels. The pretzel was extremely small for $10 not horrible in taste but no where good as a simple auntie Anne’s. The main reason to order was the chicken wings. They were soggy and unfortunately unflavored. The blue cheese was as mild as mayonnaise. For two apps it was $30 with a $15 value. The lady on the phone was polite but was also bartending and upon arrival was extremely rude and condescending. This establishment might be fine for an elderly luncheon but its food is sub par and the staff is horrendous. Park street grille or waterworks (near by) are far better with better prices staff and food

New to the area, and my husband wanted us to try Trackside. First impressions were clean, bright, lively, and family-friendly. There are a lot of choices on the menu and they have good specials. It took us a minute to choose because of all the options. To start, we had their cheese curds and pretzel bites. The cheese dip and pretzels were amazing. The cheese curds were really good but not the best we've had. My husband ordered blackened fish tacos. I ordered their nachos, which were absolutely amazing, and our kids ordered a pizza and one of the specials. All of our food was delicious. Very affordable prices and very friendly staff. A new favorite place.

The Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse, built in 1902 at the end of a breakwater, is a must-see destination for adventurous travelers. The rugged stone breakwater stretches almost 1 mile into Rockland Harbor from Jameson Point and offers seasonal tours. This man-made walkway made of granite blocks took 18 years to build and leads to the picturesque lighthouse sitting atop a brick house with sweeping views of the town.
Wow, what an experience! I am so grateful it did the walk down to the lighthouse, but I was so nervous I wouldn't be able to. Definitely make sure you are wearing sturdy shoes; this is not the place for flip flops or heels! If you go slow and steady and pay attention to where you are walking you will be fine. The view is beautiful and well worth the walk. You can also go around the side of the building and up the top for more pictures. No animal sightings when we were there, but we did see a lot of cool boats.
Jackie A — Google review
First thing’s first- THIS IS SO FUN. That being said, it is fun if you enjoy a moderate, just under a mile walk upon uneven slabs to get to the lighthouse itself. Saw many families out with their kids, even a couple jogged past with their dachshund (so cute in his vest). I would advise caution and being weather aware before and during your trip. We went as a little storm was blowing up the coast and definitely took our time against the wind to ensure steady footing. It was exhilarating and made me want to run and jump and laugh, I love these kinds of things. There is a nice little parking area, and historic information out at the lighthouse. Definitely would return!
Achlee B — Google review
The walk was the excitement to get to this lighthouse! 1.3miles one way from the parking lot to the end of the pier. (Use port-a-potty beforehand!). Just take your time and step carefully on the rock wall path. The view is tremendous. Once at the lighthouse, sit and enjoy the breeze, fresh air and beautiful views.
Maura K — Google review
Great place for a sunset view of the bay! Warnings: Very uneven terrain walking out to the lighthouse and no restroom once you make out there...so plan your trip (movements) accordingly! Otherwise, this was a fun, adrenaline filled walk across well placed rocks to get a good photo shoot by the water.
Toby B — Google review
Omgosh. Next to driving on that old rickety wooden bridge over a canyon in Colorado, this is the scariest walk I've ever had. All I thought about is everything bad that could happen. If I dropped my only set of car keys or my phone in the crevice of the stones, or tripped and sprained my ankle okay I know this isnt encouraging, but im not a risk taker. Its a long walk on the jetty. On one side is the deep cold rough waters and on the other side was the deeper, cold, rough waters. I focused on where I was walking. It was sunset when I started. Not smart. If it were to get dark & I had a 30 minute walk back on the jetty... but we made it back. Not sure I'd do it again. By boat, yes.
Cash — Google review
Great spot for a walk.. but well worth it. The long stroll offers up great views on both sides. Excellent place to watch there sunset. The lighthouse itself is aging but still a pretty site..
Justin N — Google review
Quite the walk to get there but it was worth it. About 9/10 of the way in the water started coming over the walkway for a little! I found it fun to try to navigate but some people got their toes wet. It was a very unique path getting there and it was a nice viewpoint

A Morning in Maine offers a memorable 2-hour cruise experience that takes you through the harbor, past lighthouses, and provides opportunities to spot wildlife like birds and seals. The tour is a popular activity in Rockland and offers a unique way to explore the coastal town. Sailing enthusiasts can enjoy daily nature and historic public sails aboard a 55-foot ketch, with options for sunset sails, Monroe Island trips, Blues Festival sails, and Science Under event sails.
Had a great time!!! The owner, Capt. Tyler is a stand up nice guy!! We went out with Capt. Fiona and Kyle. They were both very knowledgeable, professional and courteous. While we were under way Kyle instructed all the passengers on sailing techniques, different sailing rigs as well as giving us all some history lessons. Some of the passengers even got to help raise sails and steer the ketch. We had family visiting from out of state, so this was a wonderful experience and excursion!!! I highly recommend taking a trip aboard “A Morning in Maine”…

We had a wonderful charter trip to Monroe Island this last weekend. The crew was kind and attentive. The boat is beautiful and our family had an amazing time. Our party spanned ages of 3 to 83, and all had a good time. Definitely would recommend!

We chose this company because of a positive note in a guidebook, and we were not disappointed! Even people we met in town were excited for us that we were sailing with them. When the weather looked iffy the captain reached out ahead of time to build a contingency plan so that we were sure to have nice weather. He was full of great stories and had an awesome attitude. I only wish we had done a longer trip—highly recommend!

Breakfast restaurant
Brass Compass Cafe is a beloved local spot that serves up delicious breakfast and lunch options daily. Known for its expertly prepared seafood dishes, the cafe offers a wide variety of menu items, including handmade crab cakes, lobster omelets, and the famous King of Clubs sandwich that gained recognition on a Food Network show. The owner, Lynn Archer, is known for her friendly and energetic personality which adds to the welcoming atmosphere of the cafe.
I go every year on my way up to bar harbor and stop on my way home. The lobster club is how I start my vacation and how I end it. So much lobster. It's so big definitely a sharable sandwich. Posted pictures of my half. My only con would be location. Being on the corner of a busy street is not ideal and parking was a distance.

Went to this place with much hope. The ambience was awesome but the food was average. The vegetarian sandwich was just ok. The fries that came with my grilled cheese sandwich were below average. Server tried to be friendly but it seemed that she was having a bad day.
Suniti K — Google review
The breakfast was average and price was good. The biggest problem was people grouping up at the door near the tables as people tried to eat breakfast. Nothing worse than some strangers butt in your face as your trying to eat.
Celli J — Google review
In this environment, Brass Compass has perfect outside seating with some very nice shade trees. Great for distancing. I ordered the eggs Benedict and it was satisfying. For some reason during my visit they struggled on the service side. I do not ask for much but what I did request, they did not deliver such as bringing out water and crisping the hash potatoes. The server recognized and apologized for the issues and I was fine with that.

My family of five tried the Brass Compass for the first time for lunch today. Most places were still closed seasonally. I got the shrimp tacos, which were decent and on special. My boys ordered breakfast, which they tagged about, and my one year old had chicken fingers off of the kids menu. My husband had a fried haddock basket which he said was one of the best he's had in years. It's a cute little cafe with good food and friendly staff.

Great breakfast, brunch and lunch place. Large menu. We ordered the Bobby Flay club, it was huge, loaded with lobster & nice combination with crispy bacon, $24 for a very filling portion. A must try for visitors! Friendly and attentive staff. Love the local diner vibes.

Decent diner in downtown Rockport that's right across from the Farnsworth. Really enjoy the lobster sandwich and the chowder. Nice environment and attentive staff. The shaded outside sitting area is quite nice for people watching.

Italian restaurant
Rustica Cucina Italiana is a spacious and colorful eatery located on Main Street in downtown Rockland, Maine. It offers a warm and comfortable atmosphere with an eclectic menu that features both traditional and innovative Italian dishes. The restaurant takes pride in using locally sourced, fresh ingredients to prepare their handcrafted pasta, breads, desserts, sausage, sauces, and stocks entirely from scratch. The carefully curated wine list complements the flavorful offerings.
We have lived in Maine for 7 years and this is the best restaurant we've found, period. The food was fresh and prepared to perfection, the service was timely and attentive but never overly so, and the atmosphere was lovely. And even though it is a somewhat smallish space, and they were filled to capacity with a waiting list, the dining room did not feel crowded. Perfection.

The food is exceptional — particularly the chicken parm. I visit from CT ~ 1x per year, and this is THE BEST every time (consistent, for 3-4 years) — and excellent value. The pasta special (perhaps a play on steak Marsala, plus spinach and tomatoes) was phenomenal — per my wife’s very high standards. This restaurant [and chef] is underrated with anything less than 4.8/5.

Pretty decent food for a small town. We were hard pressed to find vegan food around these parts that stay open reasonably late. Super tired of Thai food so of course, options are limited. My husband normally avoids cheese but on these kinds of trips he compromises and eats it. He actually loved his pizza. The fried artichoke salad was pretty good and the pasta with chunky sauce was quite flavorful. It’s nice I could get it without cheese. Server was nice and efficient.

Best meal we had all week!!! I was surprised we didn’t need a reservation to eat here. Our meals were amazing! We started with the Beet Napoleon. It consisted of slices of beets with layers of goat cheese topped with sweet balsamic onions and arugula. It was then cut into 4 pieces so it wouldn’t be messed up at the table. It was DELISH!!! I had the haddock special that consisted of a pan cooked piece of haddock over a bed of corn and zucchini chowder and crisp smashed potatoes and a garnish of arugula. The fish was cooked perfectly and the chowder had such flavor. I could have eaten a bowl of it! My wife had the chicken risotto which consisted of grilled chicken breast over a delicious bed of risotto topped with small tomatoes and a delicious sauce! Everything was amazing. Our server was excellent and was very attentive to my wife’s gluten allergy. I highly recommend this restaurant, and I know we will definitely be returning next time we are in Rockland! Keep up the great work!!

I took my daughter here the night before we were both running a half-marathon to carbo-load. First and foremost, the food was excellent and reasonably priced. It is simply great, traditional Italian food as good as any you would find in the North End. I had the baked penne which was perfectly prepared and arrived piping hot. For dessert we shared the chocolate cake which was almost like a lava cake with a runny chocolate core topped with ice cream. The service was also excellent - we never waited long for anything, and we were happy to get in and out of there reasonably quickly so we could get some needed rest. I would also like to share what happened afterwards. My daughter discovered she had left her airpods in the restaurant - long after it had closed. We were dismayed to find out it would not open again until Tuesday - long after we would be making the 4-hour drive back to Boston. The next week I called to see if they had found them. They reported they had not, but would contact me if they did. To my surprise I received a call the next day from one of the staff reporting they had been found. At that point I made what I had to admit was an unusual request to ask if they might mail them to us at our home and I could repay them via venmo or something. They said they would have to ask the manager and would again get back to us. Shortly thereafter I received a call from the manager asking to confirm my name and address. He refused to accept any payment, and happily we received them within a few days. It is nice to know that it is not just a good restaurant but that it is run by good people. I will definitely be visiting again when I return to mid-coast Maine!

Wow! My husband booked a table for our birthday whilst we were staying in the area. Great atmosphere although it was very busy. Service was good but the food ...the food was outstanding! I think the best pasta dish I have ever had. The depth of flavor, the quality, the portion size....amazing! The tiramisu.....just make room that's all I'll say! This is a must visit place just make sure you book a table!

Pizza looked amazing. However it was burnt on the bottom. Maybe this is cooking preference not sure. It was still good.
Chris W — Google review
A group of six had dinner here for my wife's birthday. The food, service, and drinks are very good. Waitress friendly, The only thing I didn't like was the pizza it just tasted like a frozen pizza. I'm a pizza snob, so it's hard for me to find a great pizza. I'm sure a lot of people enjoy it. We ordered caviteli saltimbocca, chicken parm, shrimp picatta fettuccine, pasta rossa, fried calamari, artichoke salad, house salads, goat cheese pizza Just a suggestion revamp the menu a little. Add a couple more steak options and sea food dishes. Over all its a nice place.

Live music venue
Located on the main street of Rockland, the Strand Theatre is a restored and venerable theater that offers a variety of entertainment. It presents indie films, big budget movies, live music, and other events. The theater has a retro vibe reminiscent of the 1940s and provides comfortable movie theatre seating with cupholders. Visitors can enjoy live shows as well as movie screenings with good acoustics.
Attended a Spencer Albee concert. The manager is a quirky, likable character, exclaiming, "Experience the wonder" as she opened the door for us. Purchased a bottle of water at concession, it was only with serious willpower that I was able to resist chocolate chip cookies on a tray, woof! This is an excellent venue to attend a concert, super comfortable, movie theatre seating with cupholders. Sound level for the music & acoustics, very good.

We are so fortunate & grateful to have this special theatre in our community! Thank you for your tremendous efforts to offer such a special range of programming in this unique & well maintained establishment. The Strand is an absolute gem! We visit several times a year and always have a wonderful experience. The theater itself is beautiful, clean, and comfortable, and the staff are friendly, professional, and care about creating a great experience. The selection of films and live performances is outstanding — there’s always something worth seeing!

Love the Strand and grateful for it being in our city. A long time resident here and supporter of this theater since it's renovation years ago. What I want to voice is that I was very sad to hear LIZ the matriarch of our theater for many, many years was given her walking papers. She was told the Strand was restructuring and no longer needed her. A person who has given much of her life to the Strand. A person who brought a family an old nostalgic feel to us all. Even the vintage car she parked out side. She loved that theater and we loved her. She struggled on the salary or wage she received, I'm sure. We could have easly found a position for her that would have benefited any change you have in mind. Not a compassionate thing to do to someone who has given so much to this Theater. There will be a missing element that many of us have enjoyed through the years. I wish Liz a safe path forward and thank her for all she has done for the Strand and for the city. Sincerely, Kyle M. Swan

The Strand Theater is on main street in the wonderful town of Rockland. Walking in you are transported to what a movie theater must have been like in the 40's. We attended a live telecast of an opera being performed at the New York Metropolitan Opera. How cool is that. We sat in the balcony and had great site lines to the movie screen. The strand is worth a visit.

Picture and sound were great! I even bought a shirt while I was there. I did however accidentally drop my drink right after purchasing it and the cashier made me feel really bad about it like I was the first person ever to drop something in their 100 year old theaters history. Kinda messed with me. Besides that I absolutely loved attending.

Suzuki's Sushi Bar is not your average sushi spot. The skilled chefs, all women, serve up familiar Japanese dishes in a cozy atmosphere. Owner Keiko Suzuki Steinberger ensures that the fish, meat, and vegetables are locally sourced whenever possible. The menu goes beyond traditional offerings with local oysters on the half shell and pork dumplings. Suzuki eagerly awaits seasonal seafood like herring and mackerel runs to create unique sushi and sashimi creations.
Lovely experience, no complaints whatsoever. A thoughtful ambiance, calm and enjoyable even with a busy restaurant. The fish itself was of incredible quality, and every bite exceptional. Truly look forward to returning, a 10/10 evening. Thank you!

Suzuki is a quiet masterpiece of a sushi restaurant. Every ingredient is incredibly fresh and treated with such care that each dish feels both simple and deeply special. The flavors are clean, balanced, and respectful of the ingredients, nothing is overdone, everything is just right. The chef behind the counter is extraordinary. Her precision, calm presence, and intuitive touch elevate the entire experience. You can tell you’re in the hands of someone who truly honors the craft. This is sushi at its most honest and refined, an absolute gem.

Absolutely lovely and wonderful! The raw tuna ceviche appetizer with yuzu dressing was incredibly fresh and delightful. The nigiri with tekka roll special plate was perfect. The fish and seafood were absolutely fresh and tasty. I so much appreciated the nigiri with the lobster topping as I felt that this was a poetic addition to being on the coast of Maine (I’m from New York City, so this delighted me a lot). The atmosphere is well curated and feels very comfortable. The staff is super-friendly. Reservations are highly recommended. I had called ahead and left a voicemail and received a callback to confirm the time. Thank you so much for the delicious meal.

Really cozy and small place. We got Omakase for two and I think it could have been a bigger selection and portion for $112, we didn’t even get local crab or lobster which we were excited to try, next time if we go we definitely would select our own. The seafood was super fresh and yummy, our fav was the scallop nigiri. The roll was ok. ✅ we also got Gyoza and it was def hand made and delicious.

Really nice place with excellent quality ingredients for the sushi. We went as a family and ordered some mixed sushi platters and a miso soup. Everything was delicious, the miso soup a bit bland, but that is how they are. I recommend getting the mixed plates when you like all kind of seafood, as they are put together based on the daily availability. It was highly recommended to us to get a reservation in advance and we tried getting one through the automated phone call service they have. We called from a Swiss phone number, as we are visiting from there. When we didn't receive a call back we went by (we stayed in the area) and they said they don't call back international numbers and there is no other way to reserve from far away. For us it worked out in the end and we enjoyed a very nice evening!

I went here years ago and loved it. So sad to say that after last night, I won’t be eager to return. I’m wondering if something happened to the owner…the ambience was a bit somber and she didn’t look up once. I sensed tension in the kitchen. It made us feel so bummed out. The rolls were good, but much of the omakase missed the mark, with the fish sliced strangely thick. I hope things pick back up soon! Wishing them the best.
Sarena S — Google review
The food was amazing, but The unfortunate reason I gave them 4 stars is "people ordering take out." The staff is very small and they had a huge amount t of take-out orders coming in. I had to wait a long time to have service. Once I made my drink order I had to wait 15 min in before it came to the table. My food came at a reasonable time once the orders slowed down. I recommend this place but I suggest having reservations. The second time when I took my wife . Our experience was 10 times better. The service was quick and friendly. We got to the restaurant when it just opened so we had first dibs on seating. The food does not disappoint. Absolutely amazing!. I wish that they had a bit more help when they do get busy. I know at the time of us coming here, the middle of winter...I quess it's hard to find help and customers are kind of unpredictable.

Just AMAZING. WE LOVE WOMEN! This woman-led restaurant offered so many great options. The Chef’s Pick (Omakase) was amazing. Very diverse pic of sushi with plenty of sweet to savory flavors. Now. The dessert. Arguably some of the best I have tasted in awhile. The chocolate Mousse cake was AMAZING. Quite literally to die for. What seemed like a strawberry pudding mixed with a milkshake flavor was a light and yogurt-y with wonderful garnishes on top. Overall amazing experience and a huge thumbs up to Keiko!!!

Ruckus Donuts, located at 377 Main Street, is a popular spot known for its ever-changing variety of donut flavors. Visitors are advised to arrive early as the selection tends to sell out quickly. The small and homey shop offers a delightful experience, although some find the prices a bit steep. Despite this, many rave about their summer crumble flavors, particularly the rhubarb.
Wow! Best donuts and Americano ever! The owner, Todd, was so friendly and he makes all the donuts. Get there early as they sell out every day and close when they are sold out!

You have to get there early. They sell out very quickly - why? Because they are great! They are house made so once they are gone for the day that's it, but that's a good thing- a fresh, homemade donut made by real people. Flavors are fun, yes prices are more than a chain restaurant but you def get what you pay for.

Decent donuts, glad we tried them while in Rockland for a few days. Not the best in terms of dough (could be more flavourful in my opinion) but excellent and inventive flavours / presentation. Agree with the early visit - they were barely open when we visited and there was already a line.

We stopped in while passing through on a Sunday morning for a very donuts, coffee, and a tea. The selection of donuts was overwhelming. They all looked so delicious, it was hard to choose. The staff was very kind and inviting. A bit of a line when we walked in, but it moved quickly. A must stop for a sweet treat!

We had a great experience at Ruckus Donuts. The staff was super friendly and joking with each other and customers. The donut selection was vast with fresh made donuts daily. Get there early as their hours are 730am until they sell out. We got 2 of these huge donuts for under $8 including tax. They also offer hit breakfast options as well as plenty of coffee options. If you find yourself staying in or around Rockland and you're craving donuts, Ruckus Donuts is definitely the spot to stop.

1st time visitor - been wanting to try for some time. I live about an hour from Rockland, so to visit, I need to know that the earlier you get there, the better. The last time I tried to visit, I saw the dreaded "SOLD OUT" sign on the door! This time, I planned a visit with my daughter, who likes doughnuts as much as I do. We arrived shortly after they opened, so there was plenty of selection available. We enjoyed a doughnut 🍩 there and then took a half dozen home. I was pleased by the small, homey shop. The service was great. They had plenty of patience while we labored over what to get. Didn't find any doughnut that I didn't like, but I did have favorites! For me, simpler is better, so I preferred the lemon glazed one.

Nestled along the picturesque Rockland Harbor, Landings Restaurant is a must-visit for anyone seeking a delightful dining experience. This charming establishment boasts a spacious bi-level layout that provides stunning views of the water, making it an ideal spot for both casual lunches and special dinners. The menu is a true homage to Maine's culinary heritage, featuring an impressive selection of fresh seafood dishes like lobster specialties and classic fish 'n' chips, alongside hearty options such as ribs and burgers.
Just had the best meal tonight! I had the shrimp and scallops, the hubs had haddock and scallops, we shared and it was incredible! The seafood was the freshest and cooked perfectly! We inquired about the chef and was told he was the twin of the host and only 21! Kudos to him and his amazing skill! I would be remiss in not mentioning our incredible waitress! She was so kind, personable and extremely attentive! Loved her! And last but not least we dined on the outside deck and the ambiance was like sitting with a group of friends on your own back deck! We will definitely be back!!!! If you are not from Maine and are unsure how seafood should be cooked you must try this place!

You know when you're starving and pretty much anything tastes good? Well even starving this place was not great, so thank gosh I was starving. Everything is way overpriced, and when I speak prices, I don't mean that I wasn't expecting to pay those prices. I mean that the product and service do not match the prices being charged. The food is bland and either pre-made or frozen and very small portions. The swordfish plate was laughable.Possibly because they are near the ocean, although in an industrial area, the lobster could (or could not) be fresh? I felt ill for the rest of the night after eating the sad swordfish dish. After reading reviews, it looks like several people got food poisoning here. I should have read the reviews before I went and I would have taken the extra 15 minutes it would take me to get to Rockport , stopped to buy a sundress, and gone to our favorite restaurant there. The Landing is very very casual dining BTY. The inside of the restaurant felt cluttered , dirty, and stuffy so we opted for outside seating and hoped for the best. Darlene was our waitress. She didn't seem interested in providing an excellent experience. She actually made us uncomfortable, like she was annoyed or thought she was better than us 😆 . I was impressed by the runner/busboy. I've noticed that whoever is monitoring this page seems to be rude and not willing to accept criticism. Interested to see how they respond to this review. They obviously cannot take criticism well and aren't willing to change. Embarrassing for Maine. Go to Ports of Italy in Rockport

Thr food and drinks were great, I ordered a Southside drink and most people don't know what it is so it gets made incorrectly a lot. They did great with it. They were super accommodating to our dogs and very kind about them. We ordered the escargot, pork belly and lobster tacos and the full lobster. All of it was very phenomenal and well cooked.

Greeted with kindness and the view was spectacular! We really enjoyed watching the ships on the harbor since we got a table on the patio. The only disappointment was the food. We both ordered different meals and found it bland. Was not worth the price. Gluten free is limited here.

View of the harbor and plenty of parking. Food was good (lacked a little flavor) and dessert was served cold. Service was very good, everyone was very kind. They provided us with blankets, which was nice. Prices of the food contradict the ambient of the place (plastic table, chairs, and glasses)

Stopped for lobster lunch. We split and order of steamers and a lobster dinner. The steamers were excellent and lobster was good, although both were pricey. Nice view looking over the water. The corn (the only other thing that came with the "lobster dinner", no coleslaw or cornbread) was terribly over cooked. When we told the waiter, he said he would "let them know" but we never heard another word and another corn never appeared. We asked for plates to share the lobster and corn and had to laugh when he brought out small bread plates. Claws is a better value option if your looking for a lobster and steamers meal and they recover if they mess up.
Ken K — Google review
The ocean view of the boats was the only good thing about this restaurant. The clam chowder tasted like wallpaper paste even the consistency wasn't that great. The manager was so rude I'm not removing that off the bill just because you don't like it that's how we make it. The steamers were past there prime they smelled so bad I almost threw up. The fried mozz wasn't that good either. If this restaurant has new owners they don't know what there doing they need Gordan Ramsey's help. I just got really bad runs from the food. I don't recommend anyone eating here.

The waitress was nice . Efficient. Mussels were sickly looking if the shell was even open . Never eat shellfish if after cooked, the shells are not open . It's a strict rule with people I know . We returned them to kitchen . Then we heard dishes banging , commotion and we were talked about by staff and others . Bad food .bad attitudes. Dangerous. Never will return .

This place in Rockland Maine is truly beautiful and classy, and the staff is amazing, so friendly and attentive, always on top. The food was just okay. My pasta was a little too salty and didn’t have much meat. My wife’s dish was fine but also light on the meat. The onion bread was really good, and everything is super fresh, straight from the farm. I’d come back for the great atmosphere and service, but not really for the food.

I visited Primos for the first time last year (2024) and had a phenomenal experience. Unfortunately, I don't think the same can be said for this year (2025). First the food - the duck with the brussel sprouts and winter squash puree, and the fish soup with the rouille were amazing! The oysters with tomatoes were a lovely combination. The swordfish + gnocchi and the pasta dish were not per the description, and the taste was decent albeit not delectable given the price point. The most glaring difference was the service. I was treated quite differently from the other patrons, which was quite jarring. I've spent almost a week in Maine this time around, and it was nothing short of wonderful, barring my experience at Primos. There were two exceptions, the one person who helped me get some water, and the other who was kind enough to greet me and get me some bread when I sat at my table. I just spent $250 (+$50 tip) at Primos, and I don't think I'll ever return.

While I love farm to table places this one was very hit-or-miss, and had a problem with consistency and portion sizes. As a rule I would recommend sticking with dishes off the daily menu and not the specials list. Some of the dishes were hits - like the fish stew, the pork and figs pizza (though it was way too big to be considered an appetizer!) and the halibut, while others were misses like the pork chops (huge, extremely expensive and nothing to write home about) or the panzanela salad (bland and mediocre). Given the area and it's offering, this is a good restaurant, but overall I would say it's overrated.

Really cool experience in Rockland, ME- totally worth the road trip we made from Portland. We arrived early to check out their farm. They have a few acres right next to the restaurant, with farm animals and garden beds full of vegetables. They are a full circle kitchen and farm to table restaurant. The chef is a two-time James Beard award winner and we loved this meal! The pastas especially are so well done.

I really enjoyed my dinner. The other people in my party did not like their choices as much as I enjoyed mine, so my impression is that it could be hit or miss. I enjoyed fois gras with rhubarb, duck breast with cherries, and rhubarb crostata with gelato. My entries were flavorful and the servings were generous. The service was attentive. When making reservations be aware that the dining area has the first and second floor. The second floor has steep stairs with the railing on the left side, which could be a challenge for mobile limitations.

Wonderful dinner but make sure you have transportation. You may have difficulty after 10:30pm getting a ride from the one cabby running that late in Rockland. We did get a pickup after 20-25 minutes waiting outside for the 2 minute ride back to 250 Main. But it was seriously tense. There was a consensus about the 1/2 mile walk back to town not being advisable. We were very relieved in the end but the experience was nerve racking. Anniversary dinner, Bourdain travel experience, first real vacation since pre-Covid. Primo was the main goal when planning the trip. This final part of the night overshadowed the entire experience although everything was delicious and the service attentive and helpful. Just plan ahead, don’t lose track of time and don’t count on the only cab driver running after 10. Note, Lyft nor Uber do not seem to actually operate in the area. Sam and Rob at the bar were kind and helpful and thanks to Paul for his patience with us wine novices. We ate ourselves silly and tipped very well.

Primo in Rockland is truly one of a kind. The atmosphere is unmatched—it’s in a beautiful old house, which makes the whole experience feel cozy and special. Everything we had was absolutely incredible. You can tell the rotating menu is carefully thought out and driven by fresh ingredients. We sat at the bar before dinner and got to watch a prep cook working for the next day, which was such a cool touch. The beet salad and bread were amazing starters. For my entrée, I had the salmon, and it was insanely fresh and perfectly cooked. For dessert, we went all out and tried the donuts, a strawberry shortcake special, and the chocolate pudding cake. Every bite was delicious. Primo is a must if you’re anywhere near Rockland.

My son is 17 months old and loved coming in! So happy to have this local resource open year round for our community. Can't wait to come back!

This museum is lovely for little ones! Our fellow traveler is almost 7, and she really could have stayed all day! Other children were much younger, but all seemed to really enjoy the play areas. Many things perfectly suited for tiny hands, and the decor is very child friendly.

I really don’t like posting bad reviews, but I’m doing so in hopes it’s brings improvement. My first concern was the fact that children had to remove shoes(nothing wrong with that) but the parents didn’t? So of course I saw several parents walking in the same areas where the kids were playing. Pretty gross. That rule should be applied to everyone. It’s the same type of nasty as when people wear shoes in their own homes. The second issue was I didn’t really seeing any staff monitoring or cleaning, just signs explaining parents and toddlers need to be picking up after themselves. Again, nothing wrong with that, except for the fact when we went not one single parent was enforcing this, leaving a mess at every station we went to. The third issue, is there should be a requirement for parents to have good hygiene! The B.O from one particular person made the cooking station unbearable to be near. Maybe some better ventilation in the building should be looked into. Lastly, better lighting would be a good improvement 2 stars since the staff was friendly and the price wasn’t terrible.

not the fanciest place, but my kids ended up spending two hours here which was the idea.

What a great experience here. The ladies at the front desk were friendly and informative. There is cool stuff everywhere to keep your little one entertained. Also lots of opportunity for the littles to interact with each other and create fun games to play. The Theater room was my favorite! So cute!

We had a blast here. My son loved playing and there were so many different activities for him to do. His favorite was the velcro ball wall.
Cassandra B — Google review
Great little place. Friendly and catered to younger kids. My daughter loves it. Down side it is a little place and stuffy. They really could use a bigger building to be able to add more interactive experiences. But with what they have it is great for ages 1 to maybe 7.

Cocktail bar
Fog Bar & Cafe is a lively establishment that offers a diverse menu of New American dishes, creative cocktails, and draft beers. The outdoor seating area provides a vibrant atmosphere for patrons to enjoy their meals and drinks. They have daily specials where house cocktails, wines by the glass, and draft beers are discounted by $2. The ambiance is trendy and urban, attracting both scenesters and casual customers during happy hour. The bar takes pride in serving exceptional craft brews from various locations including Maine.
Five stars without hesitation. I feel bad for the people that do not feel this way. We picked it because we wanted somewhere casual and fun and this place delivered in every respect. The food was fantastic, fun, locally sourced and delicious. Excellent and innovative without being pretentious. The beer selection was also very good. There was live music which normally is a negative for me but the volume was not too loud and it was really tastefully done and fit right in. I ordered a special of the day which was salmon with a fennel salad and enjoyed it immensely. It was interesting and I enjoyed it even though it was not perfectly balanced. My friend got the fishcakes and loved them. I would come here any time I was in Rockland.

I gave a rating of 4 because despite the not great service the food was delicious! The line was out the door so I can understand being busy but we pretty much had to flag down our waiter any time we needed something! The food was great however if you are looking for something rich and full of flavour! As well, the atmosphere was full of life and very exciting! They did a beautiful job with the decorations!

Amazing food ,but that's not all the environment is spectacular. It's all about camaraderie, fun entertainment. And leaving your signature stamp !
Dila F — Google review
I absolutely love this place. Excellent food — the BEST fish tacos I’ve ever had — and excellent drinks options highlighted by a killer beer menu. To top it all off, each time I’ve visited I’ve had exceptionally gracious and genuinely friendly waitstaff. All of these things make Fog one my favorite dining spots in Maine. If you’re in Rockland, make it a point to go here. You won’t be disappointed, and if you’re fortunate, you’re visit will coincide with one of their highly entertaining Open Mic nights. Let’s just say that there are some overly eclectic people scattered around Rockland, and they’re not shy about showcasing their, uh ... talent, whenever possible.

We got four plates. They we're all tasty and the service was friendly. Oysters were great too.

The patio is beautiful and the food was amazing. Service also rocked. They had healthy, fresh food with lots of options. I had a vegan noodle bowl and my partner had the salmon. We both were full and loved our meals. We also got nice beers; they had a good local selection. We also got ice cream out back afterward at Lulus.

Fog Bar + Cafe is, first of all, an excellent bar. The bar features a comprehensive list of well crafted classic Cocktails but also keeps up with current trends. They also feature excellent wines. The cafe also offers great food to compliment your beverage of choice. You can easily make a meal of appetizers, but don't stop there. It's all good. I had been here a few times for dessert (excellent ) and drinks before I ever explored the menu. I wish I had sooner. The food is great. To top it off, the atmosphere is whimsical and imaginative. The bar often plays host to live music and other performances. Just ask a server about the schedule. I highly recommend this spot!

Limited but sufficient beer selection. The menu was interesting and the food tasty. The bar has a nice ambience and is conducive for conversation. All in all it makes for a good place to drink, dine and chat. The duck wings were delicious. The pork belly was just right, not too fatty and goes well with the plum sauce.

Went to a fun family activity gear for kids to make reticulated animals based off animal themed art in one of the galleries. Had a great time making a wolf with my grandson and son.

Very small and only 3 rooms to see a minimal amount of mediocre Art. $8 per person senior rate not worth it. The museum was basically empty and now I know why

This is a fascinating facility. Their exhibits are fantastic. They push the envelope and are a great addition to the Rockland ,Maine art experience.

Best open studio ever, the show room is so big and contain a lot of incredible art, the management are super nice, the people here also super nice, and most favorite part they have art lab where everyone can do art for free and it’s so fun

This is a small museum but well curated. They cover a couple artists pretty deeply and a couple more less so. We'll be back. Photos are of John Bisbee's work.

Dairy Queen Grill & Chill is a classic fast-food chain known for its soft-serve ice cream, signature shakes, burgers, and fries. The Rockland location offers a taste of summer with its iconic treats like Blizzards, shakes, and dipped cones. Under new ownership, the establishment has improved cleanliness and consistency in service. Customers can enjoy familiar favorites as well as seasonal creations while experiencing friendly and accommodating customer service.
Only window service/outdoor seating, but it's some of my favorite fast food. Everyone comes for the ice cream, and I love that too, but the burgers and other fast food items are great.
N. G — Google review
Be advised that this franchisee has just introduced mobile app ordering. You can no longer judge your wait time by the length of the line out front. Even if there is no line at the order window you may be 8th or 9th in line and have an extended wait ahead of you while mobile app customers and food delivery services come and go as you wait. We arrived at the order window at 11:10am and were left waiting there for about ten minutes before our order was even taken while the two person crew struggled to process what were obviously mobile app orders (they have even installed a separate mobile app pick-up window to facilitate this type of business). 20 minutes after ordering—30 minutes total-- and at least 7 mobile orders filled while we waited, the server apologized for our wait (just has he did automatically for all the walk-up orders). Be forewarned—walk-up customers are now the lowest priority and placed at the back of the electronic line so that this business can conceal the actual wait times produced by electronic customers who are no longer required to wait their turn. We’ll be avoiding any business which chooses this ordering system.

Dairy Queen in Rockland has likely been around for 50 years. Staff runs it well, and they always work hard to expedite orders. As to value, in my judgment, the prices and food quality and quality make this place a strong contender with other independent fast food area establishments. The little outside shaded seating that borders the parking lot is an added value during nice weather days.
James L — Google review
I work nearby and get lunch here all the time, I like that they do mobile orders now, my food is always ready when I get there! Staff is very friendly and the food is better than I've had at other DQ locations! Highly recommend
Ben S — Google review
The changes here include not quite cooked stark white fries with no flavor, burgers that are warmer than McDonald's, but are no longer hot off the grill with that unique flavor. However, the employees are much, much nicer and they're open more often.
Bec K — Google review
This DQ is drive-up only. Got a blizzard to help benefit the Children's Miracle Network. I love that this location has the crunch coat. They don't have that in my home state Dairy Queens.

Really good food, I’ve never had dairy queen and was very surprised. The cheeseburger was tasty and the fries crispy.

They are a chill and grill but was not serving any hot food. We were disappointed. Check before you go to make sure their equipment is working.
