Bar
Brick & Bourbon is a popular late-night spot in Stillwater, offering a wide range of American cuisine, cocktails, and draft brews in a stylish and spacious setting. One of its highlights is the intimate rooftop patio that provides a great view of the St. Croix River. The restaurant also features happy hour specials and weekend brunch with a bloody Mary bar.
They make a great burger! We got and shared a "three wisemen" and "the reaper" both of which we thoroughly enjoyed. The reaper was spicy but not crazy hot. I should also say we ate a bunch of our fries before we could get focused, so they are missing from our photos.

The atmosphere and staff are great here, but my sandwich fell a little short for me. Staff were super accommodating and made sure we were well taken care of; good people would bring me back for sure. We were able to get an upstairs patios spot, which had a great vibe despite the heat outside (plus our waters stayed refilled). I ordered the Nashville hot chicken sandwich. There was plenty of chicken, but I think the breast meat would've been better butterflied to prevent as much drying out. The run was good, but didn't have the Nashville hot I was looking for. I did ask for pickles and fresh onions which elevated the flavor for me. If the meat wasn't so thick I think this could've really done more for me. My partner had the salmon plate, but for outside lunch I think a sandwich is a better way to go. I did order the pistachio beer on draft and highly recommend that. I would go back. We also shared a spinach artichoke dip and I thought that was good. You can join the wait-list online for dine in, but the patio is walk in only.

The first time we went there, it was great. We went for dinner. The server was fantastic and food was delicious. However, this time it kinda sucked! We went for lunch and got seated within ten minutes. When we were seated, it was FREEZING in there. I went to the hostess, who happened to be the Manager Amy and asked to move tables because we were so cold. I had found a table away from the air, and it was still dirty from the previous party. Her reply was a very curt “No. (long pause) we have another table with a reservation.” No smile. No customer service. Really rude. Well, I was talking to my family who go there often and found out that brick and bourbon doesn’t take reservations till dinner. Not sure what that was all about. Even our server wasn’t very hospitable. Got our drinks at 1:15, didn’t get our order taken till 1:28. Food arrived at 1:50. Food was delicious. However, Bourbon burger was dry compared to the evening two weeks ago. We enjoyed the food. Establishment was cold, manager even colder.

We visited on a Saturday afternoon around 1:30 PM and had a great experience. Despite the weekend rush, we were seated right away in the mezzanine, which was a cozy spot with a good view of the bustling restaurant below. The staff was actively working to rearrange tables and accommodate groups, showing clear attention to keeping everything running smoothly. For lunch, we ordered the Plain Jane and The Next Day. The Plain Jane was requested completely plain, and while it still arrived with toppings on the side of the plate, the server was happy to bring out an extra plate to move them off. The burger was well-done and cooked exactly as requested—simple, satisfying, and just what we were hoping for. The real standout was The Next Day burger. Though the menu described the egg as over easy, it was served more over medium—but the flavors more than made up for the change. The burger was incredibly layered and well thought-out. The mayo, with its subtle pepper kick, gave the sandwich a breakfast feel and added some unexpected spice. It was greasy in a good way, loaded with flavor, and very filling. The hashbrowns weren’t super crispy, but soaked up the flavors perfectly. The bacon was just right, neither too crisp nor too chewy. We could only finish half, but it was more than satisfying. Overall, Brick & Bourbon offers bold flavors, attentive service, and a unique twist on the usual burger experience. We’ll definitely be back! Note: we ordered the Plain Jane and Bourbon burger on our previous visit.
Libdottie — Google review
Brick and Bourbon has a great atmosphere and solid service, but for us the food didn’t quite live up to the hype. The appetizer ended up being the highlight of the meal, while the rest felt a bit overrated for the price point. It’s definitely a nice spot to grab drinks or hang out, but if you’re going mainly for the food, you might leave wishing it delivered a little more.
Katie H — Google review
Adventurous food! We went on a Friday evening and nabbed some seats at the bar. Great staff, friendly! We got the PB & Jay and also the Mushroom burger-def chose garlic parm fries too. I had to check the menu bc I thought the Pb was supposed to have cheese and it was-yet mine was missing it. Bummer. Would have made it next level delish! Adventurous and unique nonetheless! It was very busy and some of the clientele seemed to think they owned the place. I find that the entitlement of regulars or locals to ruin the atmosphere not enhance it. When you dine out, be mindful that others are there to enjoy themselves as well.
Elena — Google review
This place is in Stillwater Main, a very convenient location. We sat on the rooftop. At first, we thought the restaurant must be amazing with all these reviews, but keep in mind that when alcohol is involved, the good reviews could be more about the drinks than the food. We tried the food, and it was better than expected after seeing how the kitchen looked. The place itself seemed a little dirty and disorganized. The staff was friendly-ish, they looked busy, so it was easier if you didn’t ask many questions. We ordered a burger, wontons, and wings. Let’s start with the wontons, which were my favorite. The sauce and flavor combination was delicious. The wings were also very good, and I loved the BBQ sauce because it wasn’t too strong. The burger, however, wasn’t great. The cheese completely overpowered the flavor of the meat. No sauce, three random pickles, a little caramelized onion, and the so-called “thick bacon,” which just looked like regular bacon to me. I’ll probably try it again, but the place really needs to be cleaned, especially since you can see the kitchen from the rooftop stairs. I don’t think the reviews are accurate in this case. 3 stars because of the wings and wantons.

Came here with the fam after visiting an open house. This place has some quality foods and a great location. Got the walleye sandwich and was not surprised by how good it was. Although was a little disappointed when my sister broke the pull tab machine and cut our little gambling spree short. 9.6/10

Located by the river, Freight House is a cozy restaurant offering American cuisine and drinks with expansive patio views. The venue overlooks both the historic Stillwater Lift Bridge and the new St. Croix Crossing Bridge, providing unparalleled scenery. With diverse scratch-made menu options, craft cocktails, and a rooftop dining patio overlooking the scenic St. Croix River, it's an ideal spot for a meal or drinks.
While out motorcycle riding with our friends along the river we found this very unique & quaint restaurant with so much charm. Loved the outdoor patio tables overlooking the river. The drinks and staff were great. Can’t wait to return during the summer season & catch some live band events, we will be back.

This restaurant is an excellent choice for a meal after exploring the beautiful city of Stillwater. Despite being busy on a Saturday afternoon, our server was attentive and efficient, and the food arrived promptly. Everything we ordered was delicious. We also appreciated being able to sit outside and enjoy the nice weather. A thoughtful touch is the inclusion of dog treat items on the menu. We look forward to returning the next time we are in town.

Excellent place to see a musical performance. Good drinks, food and service. Maddie our server was just excellent. Enjoy the outside deck in the warmer months. We got to enjoy Mick Sterling and the Studd brothers. He’s got a few more shows at the Freight house. Excellent performance. You got to see his Elton John tribute. Enjoyable venue. You’ll be forced to go.

Friendly staff, relaxing view of the St. Croix and okay food. Being on their patio on a Beautiful Saturday made for an enjoyable visit to downtown Stillwater!

We went on a beautiful Sunday and it was packed. Yet the friendly abundant wait staff found us a table to sit outside immediately. The food was very good. The accommodation outside are basically picnic table style but it feels right. Note: they do have their own parking lot.

Great place to stop for a chill lunch or a fun night. Great outdoor patio with views of the river. The food was good and our server was a sweet heart!

The Freight House is hands down one of the best spots in Stillwater! The atmosphere is unbeatable!!! whether you’re sitting inside soaking up the historic charm or outside on the huge patio with beautiful views of the St. Croix River. The food is fantastic, with generous portions and great variety, and the drinks are always on point. The service is friendly, attentive, and welcoming, which makes the whole experience even better. It’s the perfect place to grab a meal, enjoy some cocktails, or just relax with friends and family. Definitely a must-visit whenever you’re in Stillwater!

Ugh. Really hate to leave this because sitting on the river is so nice. However, this food is really just not good. Two members of our party ordered the Mediterranean bowls and this is how much they ate of it. Not a member of our 20+ people party were really impressed with our food. So sad as the ambiance could be so nice!

The open kitchen allows guests to witness the culinary action while enjoying gourmet burgers, tacos, Asian-inspired rice bowls, and flavor-packed small plates. The restaurant's contemporary ambiance is complemented by indoor and patio seating options.
Lovely place for a summer evening meal. We ordered the Spring Cavatelli, the Broccolini with shallots and Brie and the Berry Salada. We mixed the broccolini with the Cavatelli and the result was great! More flavor combined with nice texture. The dessert was delicious: warm bundt cake with caramel butter sauce and sea salt ice cream. Francis took very good care of us. Thanks! We will be back!

We had a great experience at Lolo! I ordered the Ahi Tuna Poke Bowl, which was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The restaurant was quite crowded when we went, which shows how popular it is with both locals and visitors. Despite the busy atmosphere, the service was friendly and efficient. Definitely a spot worth visiting in Stillwater!
Anita S — Google review
LoLo has upscale delicious foods without the hefty price tag, and amazing and diverse specialty cocktail menu, great location on main street, and some awesome staff here. I had the "Jamz" smash burger with a side of chips and dip. The burger was delightful. The chip and dip was a great side, and some of the best dip I've had. I can't remember the name of the cocktail, but it was wonderful.

The food was pretty good! We went at noon on a Saturday so we ordered from the lunch menu. One vegetarian in our party; not a lot of options for her (sweet potato tacos). Lots of gluten free options, highly recommend the rosemary fries to share. Fish tacos were good but could have used more seasoning or flavor. Most of the punch came from the slaw. Great vibes. Staff was friendly.

We had a nice tall table near the bar. Service was prompt, efficient, and friendly. Menu suggestions were accurate. Food came up quickly. We closed the place at 9:30 pm

I go out of my way when I am visiting in St Paul to get to Stillwater and go to Lolo's. Food is fresh and delicious. I love everything I have ever had. My new favorites are the sticky rice bowls.
Sandy S — Google review
This place was really challenging to get into on a Saturday, particularly the back outside area. Eventually though we got a table and had a delightful server who was also manning part of the bar. I think they were down a person this day so the service wasn’t quite spot on. Our food and drinks were fantastic. I had a sort of whisky sour drink and I appreciated how well crafted it was as well as the glass and appearance. We had 3 of the rice bowls and all were great! The seafood curry bowl convinced my 10 yr old that she likes shrimp! The fries were also absolutely perfect.

My finance and I had an outstanding dinner experience at LoLo. Think of casual dinner items prepared extremely well…. We thoroughly enjoyed the $3 tuna tasters (why doesn’t every restaurant do this), the broccolini (very indulgent), the JAM double smash burger, and the jerk chicken bowl. Our cocktails were fantastic as well. New favorite Stillwater restaurant!

Leo's Grill & Malt Shop is a family-friendly diner with a retro 50s style located on Main Street Stillwater. The owner, Cory Buettner, has made sure to maintain the restaurant's nostalgic atmosphere. Their popular dishes include old-style burgers, fries, and malts. The large outdoor patio is dog-friendly and shaded, making it a perfect spot to enjoy classic burgers and malts. Additionally, they offer vegetarian and vegan options.
Stopped here long Stillwater's main street on our way to Wisconsin, & it was fantastic! We got there just after 5pm on Friday & there was no wait so we beat the line of people that started about 45 minutes later. Service was SUPER friendly & extremely efficient. My kids loved asking the server questions & the server had plenty to share of about the restaurant's features. The kid's menu was perfect for the kids, & they loved doing the "can you find" list to hunt down fun items displayed in the restaurant too. Cheese curds, bacon cheddar burger, waffle fries with seasoned sour cream, Oreo malt, sweet potato tots, crinkle fries, hot dog, mini corn dogs... All tasted great & served very quickly. Will definitely come back again & we will be willing to wait in line when we come back next time!

Leo's first time here, first impressions, clean for the most part, the restroom is unisex and it's only 1. but there's a bench by the restroom for you to wait on soo that's good. anyway take a step back into an eara that's long gone old signs old style booths, old style feels, it's one cozy little joint. I ordered the deluxe burger with french fries and a cherry coke, I think the cherry coke is made with grenadine hard to tell but it's tasty, the burger was very delicious and messy, the Patty's were done perfectly, The french fries had a nice crisp to them not all floppy. the over all service was pretty good the waitress was on top of her game same with the cooks, a definite must stop when in downtown Stillwater, will return in the future for ice cream review

Nice 50's style burger joint. The place was full, but the service was friendly and efficient. We split a double cheeseburger with grilled onions and house made (I think) thick potato chips, and a malt. They served the food split and in 2 baskets, which I always appreciate. The burger was juicy, and delicious, the chips nice and crunchy, and the malt was good and malty, you also get the extra shake left in the mixing tumbler 😉. I would recommend it for a delicious quick meal to anyone. It's pretty much in the center of town, making it very accessible as you stroll the streets of Stillwater.
Gerald E — Google review
One bite into this burger and I knew ❤️ it was delicious! I really loved the pickles and the chipotle sauce. You can dine in or outside (just go to the back of the building) you can also go thru their walk-up window and order ice cream + malts 🍦 All the burgers come with chips but the basket burger and hotdogs come with fries. I think this is a better deal and gets you full! 🤭

The food here is reasonably priced and quite tasty! I had an egg salad sandwich with kettle chips. The kettle chips were crispy and delicious. The restaurant was crowded. I don't like that it feels cramped. It is quite small with lots of seating. It was also confusing with how to order takeout when I came in. However, service was prompt, and I appreciate that the food was made so quickly. It was also tasty!

MN Nice Cream is a local ice cream parlor in Stillwater that offers a variety of delicious and creamy treats. The staff is friendly and the place has a cute ambiance. It's known for serving the creamiest and tastiest ice cream, including Instagram-worthy treats. One visitor recommends trying their black chocolate and caramel twist, describing it as really good. Despite being packed, the staff moved quickly to serve customers. Overall, MN Nice Cream is worth a visit to experience its delectable offerings.
I love their sundaes here! They are loaded with goodies and can be shared between 2 people. I got the Cookie Monster, and it was overflowing! Staff were nice, and the place was clean too. You can get free edible glitter on top of your ice cream too!
Grace L — Google review
Decent soft serve. It had a very smooth texture but the flavor was too subtle for my liking. I think adding toppings would have solved this though! If you like more subtle delicate flavors you’ll definitely enjoy this spot. The atmosphere and the place’s decoration were amazing though! I really enjoyed the fun neon lights and colorful decorations.
Lera — Google review
Yes, the soft serve does have a subtle taste. I think it makes perfect sense because the ice cream is meant to have toppings! 😋🍫 The subtle taste allows the toppings to really add that sweetness to this dessert. I enjoyed but it is a pit pricey, $9 for one! ☝️
956Reviewer — Google review
I was so disappointed today when the worker handed my sister this ice cream (untouched by me). They charged us for vegan ice cream and then said “oops we are running out so sorry.” This was unfortunately a waste of money! They probably should not have charged us for this.
Brooke B — Google review
It's great that they have gluten-free options as well as dairy-free options. Even gluten-free cones are available.
Steven H — Google review
Fantastic allergy protocols. Their current ice cream is tree nut-free, produced in a facility where coconut is present. They change gloves, prep in a special area, and pull fresh containers of toppings.
Katie T — Google review
Super fun experience and love the decor. But I wasn't a fan of the actual ice cream. So I wouldn't probably wouldn't wait in the long line again. But staff was nice and moved lines quickly. The editable glitter was fun! They had vegan options and bunch fun cones! That was cool but I need more flavor in my ice cream and I had a chocolate waffle cone with the burbon brownie or what ever and we got the cookie monster and the one with gummy bears and fruity pebbles. Kids love that! I did love the cone holders for the kids! That was great 👍.

Marx always seems like a sleeper restaurant in Stillwater. Most of the other places in downtown are overrated, Marx on the other hand is not. Each time I've been in I've been impressed. Having the ability to constantly change what's on the menu puts them on another level. If you're in the area I recommend stopping into Marx to try it for yourself.

This was a great little place. We got 3 smalls and 1 dinner. The walley dumplings were amazing. Best dish we had. Sauce is buttery and slight acidity. Soooooo good. No fishy taste, sweet potato was mild and just left hint of sweet to balance flavors as well as hint of pepper flakes. Duck was well cooked on a wonton chip, this was not great. It was heavy, which duck is so that was expected, however it needed more greens to cut the fattiness of this dish. Something to brighten it up. Also it was heavy in Chinese 5 spice, which I do not love and that ended up being the predominant flavor which left the rest of the flavors lost behind that. The empanada was great. Another great plate, gooey cheese with tender meat, nice mango chutney was crispy and not heavy, so it was fried right. Would get this again as well. Finally got blackened scallops. These were good. Not great. We enjoy scallops, cook and order often. These were cooked perfect. The reduction sauce was delicious and worth dipping in. We subbed out risotto over noodles which was good. Made well. Not something I would say stood out at all though. Good plate, but would not remember it later unlike the walley dumplings which are now in my dreams. Dessert we got the Chocolate Truffle Cake. Now I do not love chocolate cakes, if you do this is worth getting. The texture shows the amazing skill the chef has because it was light and melt in your mouth without hitting the cake texture nor did it hit the density of a fudgy brownie. Simply perfect texture and again if u are a chocolate person get it! I would love to replicate this dish simply to learn how to make it so delicate.

The food and staff here are amazing. I brought my guy here for his birthday and we had to go back again the next night because we did not want to eat anywhere else. The Surf, Surf, and Turf special, fried chicken, and walleye tots were some of our favorites. Jackie really knows how to create a beautiful dining experience. This place will be unforgettable and always a must when visiting Stillwater.

Wonderful restaurant. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed dinner celebrating our anniversary. Ordered the scallops and pasta chicken primavera. Chicken was freshly grilled but the scallops were perhaps a tad under cooked. Excellent staff and really good cocktails. Bruschetta was amazing - would recommend as an excellent app.

I made a reservation ahead of time because I had planned a special meal with my wife. We arrived on time and our table was ready. We ordered the bruschetta, a couple of entrees, and drinks. My wife ordered the Gray Goose Martini and I ordered a local brew IPA. Portions were large on all (even the drinks!) and the staff went out of their way to accommodate us. We can't wait to go back!

Stillwater Proper is a great place to eat and drink right downtown. They have so many drink options, along with unique food such as rice bowls, hot dogs, and great appetizers. My favorite drink, so far, is the "Well I Guess This is Growing Up," which is a spin on the Old Fashioned, and it did not disappoint. Definitely recommend it! Stopped in for dinner during harvest fest. Super busy, but we were able to get two seats a the bar. Our server was super nice and helpful! I tried the house-made root beer and it was delicious! My husband got a drink with “at risk” in the name and he really liked it! For an app we tried the ahi tuna. It was very tasty, but a bit spicy for me. 😅 For dinner we got the tallegio grilled cheese and the fried bahn mi dog. My husband really liked his bahn mi dog! For the grilled cheese….it didn’t taste like much. Not much honey or cheese flavor. The egg was overpowering. The bread was really tasty. I was only able to eat half of the sandwich slice on the second half I found red paper in the sandwich. I could see the print of words on it. We told the waiter and she asked the chef about it and we could hear him say “it’s just the cheese rind, it’s edible”. My husband chewed on a bit to test it and it definitely had paper texture. Even if it is “edible” it’s not pleasant to eat. So maybe don’t put the rinds in a sandwich 🤷🏻‍♀️. The water nicely asked if she could get me anything instead and we got dessert. The croissant beignets were amazing! So tasty! The waiter ended up taking the grilled cheese off the bill since she had never seen that paper in the sandwich before. Super nice.

They always have amazing cocktails here! Also, good food that doesn't disappoint and a nice atmosphere. Happy to see they brought back their lettuce salmon wraps. We enjoyed checking out their happy hour! Highly recommend the blood orange margarita.

The ambiance combined with the excellent food easily makes Stilleater Proper one for the books. We loved the fried garlic noodles and bahn mi hotdog. We're excited to try more of the menu when we visit next!

Our experience here was great. Food was 10/10. We had the Filipino wings, pork belly bowl and fried chicken sandwich. All were incredible and full of flavor. Also the Proper Margarita is honestly one of the best margaritas I’ve ever had. Top notch all around. Atmosphere inside is awesome with the exposed brick, old signs and cool tiled floor. Would definitely recommend and return!

I went with 3 kids today. The atmosphere was great. Me and the oldest had a smash burger which was very good. But the 2 Littles got a hot dog which had black seeds on the bun and cut in 1/2 lengthwise and put on a bun. What little kid is going to eat that?! And the “greens” that came with it were slathered in some nasty dressing. Kids won’t eat that. The grilled cheese should have been straight forward but alas, no, it was some crusty bread with the same greens. The kids were more than polite but the waitress acted bothered by the whole thing. It was a Tuesday afternoon, not like they were busy.

I met a friend here for lunch on a saturday. I loved the vibe of the place as soon as I walked in. I sat and ordered a spicy vodka cocktail. First, I must say, spicy cocktails are always hit and miss, but SP nails it. It was delicious and I would get it again. I think it was called Cobra Verde. For food I ordered some truffle fries as an app to get started. The frys were very good, I would have liked them a bit thicker cut, but the flavor was great and they were fried so well, crispy but edible! For food I got a rice bowl it had Pork Belly with it. The pork belly was awesome, but the rest of the bowl was unimpressive. The veggies were just kind of bland (I was hoping they would have been pickled) and the rice was just well rice. There was a small spattering of some kind of aioli in the rice, but not enough to spread through the dish. Service wasn't great but it wasn't bad. It just kinda was mid. I saw my server 3 times over the hour and a half we were there. 1)When I first got there ordered cocktail and fries 2) When my friend got there and we ordered our food 3) when I flagged him down for a 2nd drink and the bill. All in all, it was a great spot to have a cocktail and some ok food to go with it, definitely better than a dive bar would be.

New American restaurant
Nestled in an unassuming exterior, Domaćin Restaurant & Wine Bar is a hidden gem renowned for its extensive wine selection and Mediterranean-inspired dishes. The intimate spot offers a diverse menu featuring charcuterie and cheese boards, scratch-made soups, fresh salads, and hearty entrees that pair impeccably with the multi-region wine list. Guests can indulge in small plates, entrees, desserts, and a variety of cheeses.
How many more of these gems are there in Stillwater? So many options for great food and drinks! A friend recommended Domacin to us because we love wine and we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner here. There is a strong viticulture theme obviously but besides the outstanding wines by the glass you notice the decor with many large format bottles on display and also the stemware they serve wine in is beautiful and top quality. The menu is a little small for entrees but the duck I had was one of the best duck I've ever tasted. The meat and cheese board was also delicious and you get a lot of food. Can't wait to return in warm weather and sit on their patio. May 2024: Well, I learned tonight that they change the menu. So the delicious duck I had last time was totally different tonight. I was unhappy with it. Still love the restaurant, the wine decor, the patio, and great service.

Came in for dinner a few weeks ago and had a great experience. Our server was super friendly, helpful, and attentive. The scallops were perfectly seared, the duck breast was full of flavor, and the capellini was solid. I would also recommend the panna cotta for dessert.

I could not have been more elated to celebrate my birthday at this fabulous five-star venue! Owner Aleks was beyond gracious in sharing a seat, generous time, and a fabulous bottle of bubbles with our dinner party. Server Savannah was delightful and on point with stellar service. The charcuterie and French Billecart Salmon champagne were delectable starters; and the halibut and beef tenderloin paired perfectly with Nappa Valley's Stags Leap District Pine Ridge wine...just simply divine! I aspire to be a returning patron for this great one!

We stopped here on a whim and couldn’t have been more impressed! Literally one of the best shrimp and grits i have ever had in my entire life! Accompanied with a spectacular wine recommendation and an impeccable sea bass for my boyfriend. Service was perfect- very friendly and welcoming. If we lived here, this would be our spot!

We have had dinner at Domacin many many many times, too many count. We have also had our large company party there at least 12 times. Every single time the experience has been phenomenal. Great professional staff, delicious food, great wine selection and wonderful ambience. Couldn’t be better and now they have a new space connected to the restaurant and the wine shop. A beautiful lounge bar experience where you can taste unique wines get small bites and relax with friends. I always highly recommend this restaurant.

Very relaxing place to explore some wine and food. We had only done apps and wine 🍷 until recently. Dinner did not disappoint. We were celebrating 🍾 a birthday 🎂 so we were a little excessive. Ordered a cheese board and a bottle of Tempranillo 🍷 to start. Then, eased into a wild rice duck soup. Then, had salmon for the main course on a bed of sweet potatoes. Closed with a little chocolate babycakr with vanilla gelato and some dessert wine 🍷. I'm sure we will be back again and will share more!

What an amazing find! We decided to have a staycation from the west metro and found this place after not being able to find a proper steak restaurant anywhere in Stillwater. It was a concession that turned into an incredible find. We had the sea bass and the fillet. The quality, seasoning and level of prep rivaled many of the nicest restaurants in the twin cities. When we come back to visit, we’re coming back here! Wine selection definitely elevated and some great options to choose from; however, the restaurant at the Crosby was this x100.

Stillwater River Boats, operated by St. Croix Boat and Packet, offers daily public cruises along the scenic St. Croix River. Guests can enjoy lunch or dinner aboard the historic paddlewheel boats while taking in beautiful views. Private charters are also available for groups of various sizes. The riverboats provide an affordable and historic way to experience the river, with options for private events as well as daily public cruises featuring live jazz music and delicious meals.
What an incredible time we had on the Empress yesterday! (5/10/25) My husband and I took his mother and grandmother for Mother’s Day and it was perfect! The cost ($40-$45 per ticket) for the experience is 1000% worth it. I honestly would have paid more! I bought our tickets online, and they make it easy by giving you a QR code to save in your phone. Make sure you get there early! The seating is first come first serve. My party and I arrived and boarded about an hour early. We were able to snag one of the tables on the deck near the bow, and had a semi-private area to ourselves! We saw another guest on the boat who was in a wheelchair, so it was nice to see that it’s accessible for those who are wheelchair bound. The lunch buffet consisted of a sandwich bar, potatoes w/egg & bacon (they called it a potato salad but I forget what the actual name of it is. Either way it was DELICIOUS) and chocolate chip cookies. They also have a beverage bar with alcoholic/non-alcoholic drinks. The entire crew were amazing! They were very professional, friendly, consistently checking on us in bringing water and clearing our plates. Needless to say, I highly recommend Stillwater River Boats! Thank you for the wonderful memory we made with our family!

My daughters and I had a wonderful experience aboard the Stillwater River Boats. We were able to get last minute seats on a dinner time cruise, and were so happy we did! The price was reasonable for the amount of food offered, and the drinks at the bar also felt fairly priced with a lot of options. My daughters had Shirley Temples and I had a glass of wine. The weather was perfect for the beginning of our cruise, the sun was beginning to set and the river was beautiful so we walked around on the upper deck before dinner was served. A storm arrived with about 45 minutes left and it was pretty magical to watch the rain from inside the middle deck. The windows are huge so you can still see everything. It’s definitely a pretty ride rain or shine. The staff was also lovely from start to finish. We recommend this experience to anyone in the beautiful Stillwater area!

Cool thing to do if you wanted to do something different and scenic. The evening cruise has a dinner buffet. It's nothing fancy but it had BBQ pork, roasted chicken, potatoes that we all liked a lot, fruit, Cole slaw, cookies. There is a cash bar for soft drinks and alcohol that I thought was reasonable. There is music and no narration during the cruise. You can sit on the bottom floor, which is air conditioned. The middle floor had the windows open. The top of the boat is open air. Great views. Worth doing.

What a hidden gem of a wedding venue! My wife and I just got married on the Majestic Star and the whole experience start to finish was incredible. We knew we wanted a venue that didn’t come with a blank slate. Stillwater River Boats provides chairs, linen, tables, silverware, a variety of different food options, full bar and an amazing crew for your wedding day (I am probably missing things)! They were transparent from the start, no hidden additional fees or things we didn’t expect. If you want to provide your guests an amazing experience for your wedding, you will NOT regret using Stillwater River Boats for your big day. They are beyond organized and you can tell they have been doing this for a very long time! This gave me a huge sense of peace during the chaos that wedding planning can bring. The only thing to be prepared for is the time you get to set up the boat for your wedding, per Coast Guard regulations the captain must be aboard the boat prior to anyone else and they arrive two hour prior to leaving the dock. They tell this well in advance and as long as you’re prepared and organized, you will be just fine. Our captain JJ was amazing and even arrived earlier than expected! We had all of our stuff loaded on to carts they provided us so the moment he got on the boat we could start setting up. Amy was so helpful with the planning process and responded quickly to all of our questions. Bobby gave us our tour and final walk through of the boat and answered probably over 100 questions I had about the boat and the day of logistics. The entire crew for our wedding was incredible and provided the best service for our guests start to finish. Truly want to relive this day over and over!

The boat is old; could use a little bit of a freshen-up in its decor. Food is ok; chicken was dry and leathery. But the weather was good, they had plenty of outdoor viewing. And, really, a trip down the beautiful St Croix during a sunset cant be beat. At least go for that if anything else.

We booked the Jubilee II for our wedding in July. All staff from office to boat were amazing to work with. Every question I had along the way (which was many) was answered quickly. They helped me through the process of planning from start to finish. The food was phenomenal. The staff on the boat were very professional and did a great job! I couldn't have been happier with choosing them for my wedding venue.

Nature & Parks
Teddy Bear Park is a delightful city park that opens its doors from April to October, making it an ideal destination for families looking to enjoy some outdoor fun. Tucked away on Nelson Street, this charming spot features a playground designed specifically for younger children up to age seven. Kids can unleash their creativity as they slide down the train caboose, navigate through tree log tunnels, or pose with the adorable teddy bear statues scattered throughout the park.
Fantastic! Very accessible. Excellent climbing and play structures for toddlers up to about 10 years old. Gated with only one entrance. Easy to keep an eye on multiple kids. Good for hours of play! If you park at the bottom of the hill, prepare to push the stroller. Worth it!!!!!
Gail Z — Google review
This park is perfect for your kids 1 to 5 maybe 6 there's teddy bears everywhere which is so unique and different they are made of stone so definitely watch your children but my twins had a great time climbing and going downsides.

Really nice park. A gem situated in a unique spot off the side of a hill. Adorable structures in teddy bear, trains, storybook and abc-style themes, which allowed for many levels of play development. The ground was soft, and there were many places to climb. There was a nice pavilion to sit in. There were two bathrooms there. One was occupied the whole time I was waiting, so I used the men's and the women's was still occupied after but it was fine. Each one had baby changing areas so that was nice.

This is hands down the most beautiful park in the state. Kids love it and well I love it too. Grab a coffee and enjoy your kids having a blast.
Derik M — Google review
A cute small park with slides. Dangerous rocks kids climb on and could very very easily fall off and get badly hurt. No swings. Biggest problem is parking. Good luck with that. Its hell trying to find anything. I think after driving 30 mins , I wasted more gas driving around another 20 minutes trying to find a place to park.
Sarabeth S — Google review
Excellent place to take your children. Has unique train themed playground as well as multilevel tree. Also a faux rock wall with tunnels and some climbing. Giant teddy bear to pose for pictures and a smaller one as well. During summer I believe they have portable potties on site as well. Parking is across the street in a free lot. The street it is on is steep so keep am eye on your little ones.

Definitely on the small side, but my 2-year-old had fun exploring the low trains and ships meant for toddlers (she wasn't sure what to make of the giant teddy bear statues) for about an hour. I appreciated the enclosed nature of the park where it's nearly impossible to lose sight of your kid. We explored downtown Stillwater and the river a bit afterwards on foot, which was fun.

The Tilted Tiki Tropical Bar & Restaurant in Stillwater is a vibrant and lively spot with island-style decor, offering an extensive menu of tropical cocktails, comfort food, and beer. The place boasts an encyclopedic cocktail list featuring classic tiki drinks and house creations. Additionally, it hosts live music from Thursday to Saturday for a fun-filled dining experience.
There's not a kids menu printed on the menu but they do have one, just need to ask. Tried a bit of everything and nothing disappointed. Would absolutely visit again. Jerk chicken sandwich was great. Sweet potato fries are done just right.

We stopped at the Tilted Tiki on a cold, snowy evening. It seemed like a nice escape from the elements. It seemed pretty cool when we walked in. Not a ton of customers, but there was one group of obnoxious women who thought screaming at each other was cute. No reflexion on the place, but definitely a turn off. The server was nice and attentive, and our food came pretty fast. The drinks were too sweet, and the food, other than the wonton nachos, was bland and smaller portions. When you see the drink menu, you realize that's what this place is focused on, but with a few tweaks to their recipes, the flavor of their food would match what it sounds like in the menu. Live music was setting up just as we left, so I cannot say if the entertainment was good.
Shannon N — Google review
Do NOT be turned off by the cheesy and outdated decor - the food and special drinks are absolutely amazing! I had the T-Swizzle cocktail and Thai chicken tacos with wonton chips; my partner had the “Gonna Need a Bigger Bun” fish sandwich with fries. Service is a little inattentive; but I personally don’t care as long as my drinks get refilled 😉

My friends & I visited Stillwater & decided to try this spot for dinner. They ordered cocktails while I went for a mocktail; drinks were amazing & we were all very satisfied! We started with appetizers: fries & cauliflower bites. The fries were incredible; flavorful, crispy & topped with a delicious sauce we all loved. I also enjoyed the cauliflower, though it was a little too oily & had a strange aftertaste. For my main, I ordered the vegan burger with chips on the side. Unfortunately, I didn’t enjoy it & none of us touched the chips. Two of my friends liked their main courses, but my partner and I weren’t impressed. On the bright side, the atmosphere was great & our server was wonderful. Overall, it was a nice experience; I’d come back for the drinks and appetizers, but i’d probably skip the main course.

Sheri and the staff were absolutely lovely! They treated our entire party with kindness and made our bride and groom feel special! The food and drinks were incredible! The Pela Pela shot was incredible - it’s a must do!! Worth it for the theatrics alone! We will be back! Also they’re dog friendly!

We stopped in because it was different from everything else around. Great place friendly staff. Hawaiian theme pub and grill. I had a Moko Loco, I've never seen it on a menu outside of Hawaii so I had to get it and it didn't disappoint. I wish we had a place like this in Milwaukee.

As usual, it was jam packed. We did get a seat quickly. There’s nothing quiet about this place at all. Your conversation is heard by the people sitting next to you. Service was as good as it could get being as busy as they were. Food was pretty good. We ordered a side of rice that had so much soy sauce you couldn’t eat it. Everything else was good.
Jeff F — Google review
Food and drinks were excellent! Everything was reasonably priced and portions were good. Love the tiki theme and overall atmosphere as well. However, there is room for improvement on a service front. Our server was nice but not very attentive. She didn’t ask us how the food was nor did she promptly bring out the check. Overall, I would return again and I highly recommend the food and drinks to all. Pictured here is the cheese curds, and coconut shrimp tacos. The guava sauce that comes with the cheese curds is the best I’ve ever had!

This place is smack dab in the middle of Downtown Stillwater, MN. The vibe and service were top-notch. I’ve read great things about the coffee here, and I totally get why. My Pistachio white mocha was to die for! I also tried their Nutella roll and Quiche with meat. The Quiche took about 5-10 minutes to make, and the coffee was ready in 10-15 minutes. They were a bit busy, but I didn’t mind. It was nice to stay warm indoors. Since it’s downtown, they have street parking (parallel parking).

We ordered 2 farmers breakfast, beignets and 2 coffee drinks, our total was 60. The food was decent but not worth the price. The bacon was really good. Eggs and potatoes were nothing special of note. My chai had great cinnamon but not much of any other flavor. The beignets were a total let down- they were a heavy fried bread with a dusting of powdered sugar. The bread options provided some redemption as both our sourdough and the rosemary biscuit were delightful with the jam served. Seating is first come first serve with not a lot of options so you may need to take an order to go.
Jennifer T — Google review
We stopped in hoping they had a vegan option. No vegan baked goods but we were so impressed with the counter help. She said that one of the side dishes is already completely vegan so we ordered that, a zucchini, carrot and lentil hash- it was delightful. Excellent flavor and a healthy way to start the day. We also ordered a dirty chai and the employee said she would make it by hand (without complaints) because the mix they use has dairy. It was really thoughtful and delicious. Atmosphere is adorable. Great location downtown Stillwater

I have been here multiple times and had 2 very different experiences. The first time, there was little to no line, the staff were friendly, and the food came out fast. The last time I was there, I was with someone who had a peanut allergy. When they asked if anything was peanut free, the staff said “I think it is” and then did not double check with anyone and was very uncertain. They decided not to get anything, because the staff could not 100% confirm it was peanut free, which was a disappointment after waiting in line for 25 minutes. The food is good, but it would be nice to have more transparency about allergens in the food.

My cousin, Donna, told me (!) that we have to go to Mon Petite Cheri in Stillwater, Minnesota! Mon Petite Cheri had a nice choice of food, baked goods and pastries. We had a ham and cheese croque monsieur and a cheesy jalapeño roll. Both yummy. Cortado for each us rounded out a nice brunch. Mon Petite Cheri was busy and the staff were very friendly, helpful and efficient. Stillwater is a beautiful destination Village on the St. Croix river. It is a charming town with great food, fun atmosphere and antique and secondhand store shopping. Not necessarily what I personally want to do, but I know that my wife, Shari, would love it. The waterfront is ideal for strolling and viewing across the river to Wisconsin. The vertical lift bridge dates back about 95 years and is now a pedestrian walkway. The whole area is quite picturesque.

Me and a lady I know every time we meet for coffee go here. We absolutely love this place. They are so sweet and so welcoming. I wish they had more room for more seating (but that’s just downtown Stillwater for you) it no matter what we will always come here. I recommend it to everyone I know. It is by far the best coffee shop in downtown Stillwater that I would spend my time at. Love them so so much!!!❤️❤️❤️

Best breakfast and lunch spot in stillwater with great food and reasonably priced. Always clean and friendly. I've only had one order mix up but it was still good even though it wasn't what I ordered. Depending on what time you go it can be really busy so make sure its a leisurely stop.

Very disappointing breakfast here. Brioche French toast was dry (obviously not soaked at all), breakfast sandwich was all bread and no flavor, Farmer’s breakfast was sad and basic—potatoes lacked personality and were bland—needed crisping. The only bright spot was the lemon blueberry scone. After a $100 breakfast for 5 people (plus the 20% tip) you’re expected to bus your own table. Skip this place.

The Stillwater Lift Bridge, a historic structure dating back to 1931, spans the St. Croix River between Houlton, Wisconsin and Stillwater, Minnesota. It is one of only six bridges of its kind in Wisconsin and Minnesota built before World War II. The bridge is located within the Stillwater Cultural Landscape District and offers a unique example of vertical-lift bridge construction.
Visited during summer, the weather was perfect! A beautiful little town on the border of Minnesota and Wisconsin with this historic site. It's delightful to see the bridge lift up for big boats to pass. The area is well developed with neat lawns and seating benches. Mostly crowded on weekends, but it is a peaceful spot. Small local food joints make even more happening. Must visit!
Rishabh C — Google review
What a lovely town with many trails, eateries, & shops. The historic lift bridge is for pedestrians & bikes only; lanes are marked as such. During the peak touristy months the bridge raises every 30 minutes to allow boaters to pass beneath. It’s only a short disruption of time & fun to watch. A great way to watch how the bridge operates up close.

We just took our first walk across the bridge. It was really nice to walk across this historic National Register of Historic Places bridge on a warm breezy summer evening! The cars and traffic jams at the bridge are now distant memories.

Stillwater is great for a day trip or even a few hours. We went to the water front and watched the bridge go up and down and the boats go by. There is lots of seating by the water, easy inexpensive parking, many eateries and activities by the water. We had a fantastic afternoon. We also went two blocks from the water to the Teddy Bear Park which I also reviewed at five stars.

Lowell Park features beautiful views of the St. Croix and the Stillwater Lift Bridge! I visited to see the sculptures from the World Snow Celebration and they were very cool. The park has nice paved walking paths along the river and is conveniently located in downtown Stillwater nearby lots of shops, restaurants, and breweries.

Lovely place to walk with lots of seating, restaurants and parking options nearby!

Lowell park is such a wonderful city park right on the shores of the St. Croix River and just right next to downtown Stillwater. It is great for walking around anytime of year. I especially love all the events that take place throughout the year. Lumberjack days and the World Snow Sculpture Championship are two of my favorites. There is usually plenty of parking around the park.

Best place to spend the day outside! It was great watching Fireworks at too! I love Stilwater!

Such a beautiful park by the St Croix River. There are picnic tables there, so if you want to have a little bite with friends or family, you can't go wrong. What's also great is that a lot of the high light spots are close by that they are just walking distance. Would highly recommend it if you are looking for a little outing with a beautiful view!!

Mexican restaurant
Nacho Mamas is a vibrant Mexican restaurant known for its generous portions of classic Mexican dishes like tacos, quesadillas, and margaritas. The restaurant offers a lively atmosphere and colorful decor. Customers can enjoy their famous nachos loaded with various toppings such as jalapenos and guacamole. Despite being a busy place, the staff is friendly and the food portions are substantial.
Nacho Mamas might be tucked away on Stillwater’s busiest street, but it’s absolutely worth seeking out. A coworker recommended it, and I’m so glad they did. The moment we walked in, the place screamed art, ambience, and culture—with tons of cool wall art that gave it a creative and welcoming vibe. We originally stopped in just for a drink, but after chatting with our amazing waitress Maggey, we decided to order food based on her recommendations. I'm glad we did! The Mucho Margarita was, hands down, the best margarita I’ve ever had—bold, refreshing, and perfectly balanced. For food, we shared the Smothered Burrito, and it was incredible. Every bite had the perfect mix of chicken, rice, beans, and smothered in delicious cheese sauce. The portion was generous, and the flavors were spot-on. The guacamole, lettuce, and extra rice and beans on the side rounded it all out perfectly. We left feeling full, happy, and completely impressed. Nacho Mamas is the real deal—great food, drinks, and atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back!

Popped into the front bar area for a snack and a margarita. It was a little toasty as far as temperature went but the service was fast and friendly. We ordered the pulled pork nachos to share and the house margaritas. The nachos had ample toppings but some salsa would have been a nice addition. The margarita was perfect.

I asked for their hottest sauce and they delivered! I also had my pup so I called to see if I can order outside and it was a very friendly and quick transaction. Food was up quick and tasted good!

Festive place with 3 distinct dining areas, and the food was great with generous portions. Probably the best chimichanga that I've had anywhere, and the sides were very good. Salsas and guacamole dip for chips were excellent. Had no wait time, servers were attentive and dinners were prompt. Definitely worth another visit!

Out for dinner, my daughter's birthday, her choice and I would say it was a great one. The food was excellent, great service and an overall good experience.

One of the coolest looking places I’ve been! Love the decor and lighting! We went for a cool drink and guacamole on the 4th of July! It was busy so service was okay but not perfect. Guacamole was very good! Margarita was decent. It was pretty hot so I don’t know if the AC was broken down or if it is always hot. I think on a cooler day and less busy day I would really love this place. I

Great nachos. Man, the smothered burrito is a beast. We also had calamari, which, oddly, is presented with chili peppers. I thought it was a great display. Definitely recommend it for a quick and yummy bite. The ambiance music was Spanish, not Mexican 😅
Javier S — Google review
The updated patio is cute and the atmosphere is nice but I’m pretty bummed we had such a disappointing experience. Our server forgot to bring us water and our chips and salsa. We had to go get the water pitcher. There was also a bone in my salad, hard to finish a meal after biting down on a sharp bone.

Nestled in the heart of Stillwater, Lora Hotel & Event Center offers a unique blend of modern luxury and historical charm. Each room is thoughtfully designed, providing guests with complimentary Wi-Fi and stunning views of Main Street. The on-site Feller Restaurant boasts a delightful dog-friendly patio where you can savor chef-driven dishes inspired by the culinary traditions of the Great North. With an emphasis on locally sourced ingredients, you'll find mouthwatering options like smoked trout BLT and grass-fed bison.
To say this hotel is pet friendly Is just not enough. They are amazing. We arrived and there were food and water dishes, treats, a dog bed, and cute little tags for the dogs collars w the hotel address in case anyone got lost during our stay. This type of detail made my day! There was a happy anniversary note for my husband and me along w two yummy truffles. A perfect snack before we took the 5 mile loop walk. The room was fabulous. We got exactly what we asked for and more. We had family photos taking place inside and outside hotel and the manager was amazing. She listened to what I was looking for and showed me great spots for the pictures. The front desk staff was already briefing our photographer on the location when we arrived in the lobby. We had dinner and breakfast In The attached restaurant- and all was fantastic. I have nothing but positive notes for our entire stay. I highly recommend the Lora and especially if you are traveling with your fur kids! Special shout out thanks to Lauren for helping us start to finish and making our trip special.

10/10 experience! We stayed here for our mini honeymoon immediately after our reception and it was a real treat. They score bonus points for being dog friendly and super close location wise to all the shops, restaurants, and bars

Superior service. Excellent room. Beautiful view. We stayed in a Premium King room, on the 3rd floor with a view of main street/the river. I've stayed in hundreds of hotels for work, tour & leisure, and this was my single best hotel experience ever. (Make sure you reserve parking ahead of time - but even with that, the front desk staff 'rearranged' the valet lot to accommodate our car. (a wedding group had commandeered the majority of the valet lot)). Lora staff even brought a dining table up so my girlfriend and I could have dinner in our room (I provided my own dinnerware, candles & wine service, but Lora does do a package similar to this as an add on). I ordered 'to go' food from the Feller restaurant - which was also outstanding. It was a perfect weekend in a beautiful city.

I got married in Stillwater in early January. We had our cocktail hour and dinner in the restaurant below (20 guests). They have a cute private dining room that fit our group perfectly. Lora did everything to make my wedding a perfect day. The pastry chef created an amazing cake for us that really was a work of art. The whole staff was accommodating and approachable. We would highly recommend this venue if you wanted to have a small wedding. Rooms were so cute and the beds were easily the most comfortable. I was able to sleep the night before my wedding. Everything about our stay made us feel like we were at home. Thanks so much Lora!

I had an absolutely LOVELY two nights at Lora this week. The staff was so kind and greeted me every time I popped in and out of my room. The hotel is built into the side of the rock. The rooms are super cool - reminded me of The Hewing in Minneapolis. Gorgeous shower and bathroom in general. Aveda products (thank you!!) They have a great patio on main street and neighbor businesses include a coffee shop and restaurant. They valet for $30/night (I stayed 2 week nights) but instead, I parked across the street in a pay lot for $20 for 2 days ($5 per 12 hours). You can't pay with an app so I had to physically go to the surface lot 4 times. But back to the Lora, I HIGHLY recommend!
Christina Z — Google review
Loved our time here!!! Everyone was very nice, the location was fabulous, the bedding was heavenly, and the shower was perfect! I highly recommend a stay at this beautiful hotel. Loved its cool vibe and the stone structure. I think that people who complain about pricing have to look at the location, the high-end finishes (super comfortable bed, linens, pillows, and that wonderful shower), and so I ignored those comments on reviews before my stay, and I'm glad I did. I do think their pricing is fair.
Margaret R — Google review
It's clearly a new place and they're working on fine tuning everything, but overall a good experience. Staff were extremely kind and friendly the whole time. Very unique aesthetic with a mix of contemporary architecture and the old 20's-era brick. Be careful when booking cheaper rooms, some don't have much in the way of windows since they're somewhat built into the cliff. Upgraded to one of the nicest rooms they had for our second night and it was amazing.

My husband who travels an insane amount for work and has stayed in hundreds of hotels all over the world said this was in his top 5. It's lovely from top to bottom and I really enjoyed our stay. One tiny complaint is the heavy scent in the reception area. It was strong enough to give me a headache and I avoided it at all costs. Everything else - the decor, the convenience, the beds, the service, the bikes we rented, the location - was top notch.

Coffee shop
Cafe
I thoroughly enjoyed The Daily Grind Espresso Cafe and plan to return. The coffee was delicious, and the breakfast sandwiches had a creative touch with a strip of bacon on top. It was entertaining for my child. My spouse ordered a tasty banana smoothie. I opted for my usual favorite, the cafe miel, which hit the mark perfectly. The coffee shop is charming and has friendly staff. Additionally, it is connected to a well-stocked book store that caters to all ages.
The Daily Grind in Stillwater is a hidden gem with a caffeinated soul. It’s tucked inside a charming little bookstore—zero chain store vibes, all cozy indie magic. You walk in and instantly feel like you’ve stumbled into a secret coffee haven. But first—a warning: the menu is HUGE. All hand-written on a giant chalkboard like a caffeinated scroll of destiny. It’s almost intimidating—like standing at the edge of a cliff, your brain spinning as your eyes frantically search for footing. Deep breath. Take it one line at a time. You’ll find your gem. And trust me, it’s worth the read—it is in a bookstore after all. 😉 My boyfriend and I each snagged one of their adorably named drinks—he got the Lindsey (a white chocolate masterpiece), and I got the Kristine, a blended raspberry and chocolate beauty. Total bliss. And, plot twist—I got the last of the raspberry! Complete kismet. The next person in line was denied, and I floated away victorious, sipping my perfectly blended drink while the universe high-fived me. Both drinks were so good our taste buds started doing synchronized backflips. Eyes rolling back. Full coffee euphoria. I was so enraptured I completely forgot to take a photo of the drinks. Tragic for you. Epic for me. Guess you’ll just have to go and experience it yourself. 😉 I did manage to snag a photo of the super cute jewelry they had for sale though—priorities, okay? Whether you cozy up inside, hang out on their adorable patio, or stroll straight to the water with your drink, this place is perfection in-caffeinated. (Warning: may cause spontaneous happy dances.)

I'm not much of a coffee drinker, but I took my friend here and she loved her Americano drink. They have a nice selection of pastries/treats at the counter that looked delicious. They have a few tables inside to sit at. They also have a nice patio in the back that you can see the river from. It's attached to the bookstore, which is also a neat feature.

Nice coffee shop on the river front. Open early mornings promptly. Pick up a coffee and cross the bridge from Minnesota to Wisconsin side!
Swami B — Google review
Small coffee spot attached to the bookstore. Clearly loved by locals who gather in the morning. Delicious espresso and the owner has a mindset of having a TON of options, so you can absolutely get almost anything you can dream up. Much better than a chain coffee shop.

I work next door at Classic Construction & Consulting and love having such a great coffee shop so close! Their specialty drinks including their pistachio latte and Norwegian latte are divine and I've enjoyed many of their baked goods and breakfast dishes as well!
Katrina W — Google review
Cute little coffee shop in the back of the bookstore. Staff is friendly and service is quick. Bathrooms are very nice and large single rooms. They had a very good chai tea latte that wasn't too hot and the price was less than I have paid at other coffee shops.

The Daily Grind is truly a gem of Stillwater! If you haven’t had an opportunity to check this coffee shop out you should make it a priority! They have a wide range of drinks and food items to choose from. The atmosphere and setting is second to none in the area! My favorite items on the menu are the banana bread, the scones and the Cold brew is excellent! You can’t go wrong with this coffee shop.

I couldn’t help ordering the “Naughty Norwegian Latté”– delicious 😃. My husband enjoyed his made-to-order eggs & sausage breakfast. Also the fresh-squeezed juice was a plus. Yummy chocolate croissant and blueberry scone. We would’ve enjoyed the patio if the day was cooler— but still a great people-watching, fun community spot. A+

Papa's is a fantastic establishment that optimizes the use of their space effectively. The rooftop area is well-furnished with umbrellas and heaters when necessary, providing remarkable views. Christine, also known as Mully, is an exceptional staff member who establishes expectations during the initial visit. While there may have been some delays in the kitchen, it serves as a remarkable means to connect with customers on an equal level. Christine displays extensive knowledge of the menu and remains attentive without being overbearing.
Amazing view of the river!!! Drink and food were super yummy. We got the Brussels sprouts, steak bits and pig and fig pizzas. Highly recommend all of these!!!! The pizza was like dessert. Great place to have a bit, drink with a view or to celebrate an event. They do not have gluten free pizza or many options.
Maggie J — Google review
The food was pretty average I‘d say. The pizza looked like an average American, doughy pizza. The topping options sounded good though. The salads were good and fresh. In my option the salads are the best options. Very overpriced, limited menu, super slow service and bad service in general.
Charly — Google review
We went here for drinks on a Sunday afternoon. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The drinks were good. The prices are a little high but that was expected. The view from our table was awesome! Parking in Stillwater to get to the rooftop is horrible.

Beautiful! We noticed this gem after eating at a neighboring business, therefore, unable to provide a rating for food & service, but we stopped at Papa's Rooftop at the top of the Historic Water Street Inn for a beverage, a look at the delicious menu and the million dollar view of the St. Croix!

Phil's Tara Hideaway is a historic log cabin in Stillwater, MN, suspected of being involved in bootlegging and gangster activities. In 1997, it was transformed into a restaurant by Phil Barbatsis, offering a blend of traditional Greek-Mediterranean cuisine with contemporary dining experience. The cozy and warm setting provides an amazing vibe for hanging out with friends. The menu features high-quality local and seasonal ingredients.
My husband and I went for dinner and we had an awesome experience. He ordered a seasonal beer and I got a glass of wine to go with my entree. We got the brussel sprouts for appetizer and the cured bacon was wonderful. He ordered the Tara steak with mushrooms and smashed potatoes which were delicious. I got the duck breast entree and it was so good! We also shared the baklava for dessert which was warm and super nutty. The service was awesome and we left happy. It was a nice treat for us since we had a gift certificate and we don't get out much. We had a great time.
Amanda J — Google review
The food options were very unique and a pleasant change from the typical bar/ restaurant in the Midwest area. The drinks were well balanced, and the food had so much flavor. I will be back!
Preston W — Google review
I really like the food here! It is very unique for the area and the portions are large. Cheese curds were still slightly squeaky and the veggies were fresh! The chicken was moist and not dry at all.
Grace — Google review
We visited Phil's Tara Hideaway after a day of walking along the St. Croix River in Stillwater. It has a charming vibe and pretty healthy food. We had some bread and butter and a Greek salad. For entrees we both had Walleye (one pan seared and one hazelnut crusted). We had good service and a good experience.
Brian R — Google review
French fries were average, pan-fried walleye was good, but not great. The real concern was how noisy it was in there. Almost impossible to have a real conversation with anyone not sitting directly next to me.
Mary H — Google review
Had prime rib it was wonderful! I went there for the ribeye cause I usually have that and it’s always wonderful, but prime rib is the special. Chrissy is awesome! Always welcoming.
Becky W — Google review
We had a great server, an excellent bread pudding dessert and very good fries. The seating is cramped and gets loud when it's full and our entrees were all fair but nothing great.
Pat G — Google review
We tried this out tonight. Interesting very little (intimate and loud?) place. It is right off the main highway via an access road and looks like a little log cabin. I would classify the food and drinks like other supper club restaurants in the MN and WI area. Good standard taste but not top tier. I had the pork loin which was squishy, bony, and fatty. My wife had a scallop and seafood pasta. My mashed potatoes were very good. At 7:15 they were out of asparagus and baked potato already. It is very loud and the tables are packed close together. Prices are reasonable and service was a bit slow but friendly.

Bill K — Google review
I don't drink alcohol so when I want to crack open a cold one with those who do, I enjoy a cold root beer. On a vacation to Minnesota, I asked my mom to pick me up some gourmet root beer to enjoy. She selected Lift Bridge and here I am...writing a review... about root beer! That's how good this is. Never have I ever left a review on Google about a DRINK. Frothy, bubbly, smooth, and rich in flavor. I am a sucker for a deep licorice vibe and this doesn't disappoint. Thanks for introducing me to a new favorite when I visit the homeland.
J P — Google review
Lift Bridge is a really small brewery in Stillwater. They are not down by the river but don't let that deter you. They typically have 12 of their beers on tap and all are solid. On my last stop they had a peanut butter brown, maibock, Irish coffee, milk stout, NEIPA, mango blonde, blueberry blonde, standard blonde, lime pils, standard pils, American IPA, Hazy IPA, plus several in cans and bottles. The space is a simple tasting room straight off the brewery so there are no surprises....it is a good small brewery with friendly service.

The Historic Courthouse, a nearly 200-year-old landmark in Stillwater, offers interactive historic exhibits and tours for families. Visitors can explore the basement, main floor, Sheriff's living quarters, jail cells, cupola and admire the beautiful tile work on the floors. The Civil War exhibit is a must-see attraction. The friendly tour guide provides insightful information about the building's rich history. Don't miss out on checking out the old jail cells that are no longer in use.
Was standing outside reading a sign, and got invited in by Jack to take an impromptu tour. 25 minutes later, my wife and I knew everything there is to know about Stillwater! The prison cell graffiti was a highlight. Then we walked downtown to get a scoop of ice cream and across the bridge to Wisconsin. My cousin didn't know we took the tour, drove away and left me wasting away in Wisconsin, but I can't recommend this courthouse enough! Cousin Andy, 2 ⭐️⭐️ Courthouse ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Situated by the marina, this seasonal restaurant provides both indoor and outdoor seating, making it a popular choice for boaters, motorcyclists, and various patrons. Despite occasional flooding on the outside patio, the establishment remains open, offering a unique experience of enjoying drinks while standing in water. The venue also features live bands for entertainment.
Wonderful spot on the river for a drink, a meal, or live music. The food has been so good every time we go there. They don’t have beer on tap only in a can. The servers have always been kind as well.

They have a great outdoor patio space. The food was pretty good and cheap. You can get good daily specials if you play it right. The service was kind and the atmosphere of the patio was wonderful with the music they were playing.

5 star view but easily 1 star food. My wife and I came in on a Thursday afternoon for some fish tacos. They were 14$ for 2 medium sized tacos with fried haddock which was cold that came with a side of tortilla chips that were also cold. Overall what was most disappointing was the small portions, cold food, 4$ fee for using a credit card, and charging 3$ for a soda water. Seems cheap and greedy and ultimately just a touristy spot.

Our waitresses name was Jane. So I tacked on Anderson. Jane Anderson started out with zero stars and worked away all the way up to five! Service was awesome The nachos were huge and tasted fantastic! The plastic beer glasses or something to come back for! Next time I'll bring my own glass 🙂 thank you Jane for the memorable experience at PD Pappy's. We will definitely return for the service!

Service was excellent! Sloppy Joes were very good as well. Cocktails were just okay. Only real problem is the flies. You really need to look into some way to mitigate this issue- maybe the bag devices they use at horse stables and such... It was bad.

A beautiful Saturday night in Stillwater, PD Pappy's has a killer band. The power went out and the band played acoustic, well! What a great time the crowd didn't care and it's a great part!

Great music and had a good time, danced and enjoyed it a lot!

This is a cool spot right on the St. Croix River. Food and drink overlooking the docks. It's got a low key down to earth vibe. We had beer and a vodka drink with a burger 🍔 and a BLT. Pretty good experience.

Restaurant
Feller is a seasonal restaurant and bar located inside the Lora Hotel, a boutique hotel in downtown Stillwater. The restaurant offers an industrial-chic ambiance, with tall windows that let in natural light and showcase the historic charm of the city. The menu features hunter-and-gatherer cuisine, and there's also a happy hour to enjoy. Feller is known for its craft cocktails, wine selection, and killer appetizers.
It doesn’t get better than this. I love that the menu is fresh every visit, yet keeps staples such as Truffle Fries and Feller. I had the tastiest amaretto sour, the pot stickers were DIVINE. Always love the truffle fries and any cheese based pasta they offer. The ramen was ALSO very good! We had the Zeppole for dessert and it was very tasty. Service was fantastic!! Riley was very sweet and attentive.

Extremely unique atmosphere with all the limestone and cave like feel. Food and drinks were terrific, our server was very good, but the bar took forever and a day to prepare our drinks and the restaurant was at less than half capacity. Highly recommend getting the corner booth in the bar area for great views of main street

My husband and I came for dinner, wanted to try something new. We are new to Saint Paul. A friend from work recommended this place. Nice place, unfortunately didn’t get any pictures of the food. I got the pepper pasta and my husband got the burger. They were both really good. I can’t remember what our drinks were but they were well crafted and balanced. Our sever was a young gal named Lynn or Lyrick. She has a lot of tattoos. Very sweet and attentive. Overall we really enjoyed our visit!

Feller was recommended by a friend and we were very happy we took her advice. We started with an appetizer, the foragers flat bread which we were told was 1/2 off but were charged full price. It was loaded with mushrooms and chèvre cheese but the magic ingredient was the sweet honey. We decided on our main courses after seeing the daily special menu. We ordered the jerk chicken with beans and the filet mignon with a side of the balsamic brussel sprouts. We saved room and ended our meal with the Forgers chiffon, if you dipped the chiffon cake in the lemon curd, it was the perfect bite. Over all a positive experience with delicious food.

When I arrived at the restaurant, it was completely empty, which was a bit unexpected. The bartender or waitress seemed a bit surprised to see me dining alone. She looked at me and asked, “Can I help you?” I explained that I was looking for a seat to have some food, and she followed up with, “Is it just you that’s going to eat?” That caught me off guard a little, but I went ahead and took a seat. She placed me by the large front window, which was nice—I could enjoy the view outside and do some people-watching. For lunch, I ordered mussels in a garlic cream sauce and The Bolognese. The mussels arrived with grilled bread that was soaked in butter—more than I personally prefer—but they looked fantastic. While they weren’t amazing, they were decent. Then came The Bolognese, which also looked great and tasted pretty good overall. It was slightly salty for my liking, but that might just be my personal preference. All in all, it wasn’t a bad lunch experience.

The waitress Maria ignored our table and forgot to take our order for 40 minutes. She was serving the tables all around us and we had to flag down another server because she wouldn't look at us. When we did and she finally came over she was so rude and sneering at us. Then we finally got our food and then she ignored us again while serving all the tables around us. Never checked in once. We had to flag her down again to get our checks 35 minutes later and that took another 15 minutes. It was really disappointing because the atmosphere and food is good. Wish the service was better and tables without men got served too without having to continuously beg for it. Very disappointing service from Maria. Also, the bathrooms are GROSS like there was garbage everywhere and the floors were so sticky. For a place with no entrees under $20 we should be able to keep the bathrooms clean. Do not recommend this place.

Stopped here on the weekend before Halloween to see the leaves along the river and enjoy a nice brunch before winter set in. The food was more upscale than expected and was not only delicious but well presented. You can tell the establishment takes pride in their menu. Can’t wait to come back.

I had brunch at Fellers and it was very ascetically pleasing the atmosphere was very nice. Our waiter did an excellent job at explaining things to us. He mentioned that it was connected to the coffee shop and we could order from there and they would bring it to us which I thought was very cool! But one thing I noticed was he wasn’t very attentive to the table but there did seem to only be two waiters so that might have been the reason. From my meal I really enjoyed the potato and the wild boar sausage. The potatoes were a cubed cheesy potato with a nice crunchy top to them. The wild boar sausage had a slight hint of spice to it. I also enjoyed the flavor of the jelly that came with the meal.

Bar & grill
Muddy Cow - Oak Park Heights is a locally owned bar and grill that prides itself on sourcing fresh ingredients from local farms within 300 miles. The establishment offers a great ambience, 2-for-1 drinks, and 32 TVs for sports enthusiasts. Customers have raved about the fantastic menu choices, including items like poutine, burgers, fish n chips, and more. The food quality is highly praised with excellent ingredient choices and pairings.
We ate dinner here this evening and it was wonderful. The pretzel bites were good but the cheese dip with them was a little spicy. I got a pulled pork sandwich with bacon and Mac & cheese on it with a side of coleslaw and it was delicious. The prices are fair. The service was excellent. We took our time there and we were out in 45 minutes. The restroom was clean. The parking was easy.

Overall, I very much enjoyed Muddy Cow. The server was great, and the environment was clean and well put together. I was surprised by the amount of food options, and it appeared they have a lot of drink deals throughout the week. The Reuben was very good, along with the Dilly Fries and Duck Wontons. I do wish the patty on the burger was bigger, which was really flavorful, but not a lot of substance. I'm definitely coming back to explore the rest of the menu and deals!

Had an early dinner on a Saturday late afternoon. Plenty of room when we arrived and was seat yourself. Lots of good menu options, and a very nice drink selection. Service was very good and would recommend a visit. If your a sports fan plenty of good seats to keep an eye on the game.

Nice clean atmosphere. Surprised when I got 2 for 1 cocktails! Fried pickles were great, never had them cut that way. Big hog sandwich tip-leave the Bacon off. It distracted from the tender juicy pulled pork. Mine had a big piece of thick fat in it as well. Also, the table wasn't cleared of empty dishes very well. Kind of stacked up with three people. Overall not bad Sunday lunch place
Amy B — Google review
Food and atmosphere were good! However, it seemed as if our server lacked attention to detail. We ordered one spicy Bloody Mary and was given 2 spicy margaritas. After being given our correct drink request, we were then informed of their special 2 for 1 drinks- would have rather been informed of their deals beforehand. Following that our food came out incorrectly with extra toppings on the burger that weren’t requested. After being dissatisfied with our service, we just requested a discount for the burger instead of having it remade.

Party of ten was sat by the bathroom which reeked of sewer gasses and backup. Asked if we could get a bag of cheeseballs for our inconvenience, the waitress laughed and said they are good! Had a two year old with us and almost everyone felt like barfing. No attempt was even made to offer a discount or free item. Poor customer service all around, staff said owner was contacted and would get someone out there in the am! Staff could have easily shut down the women's restroom for the evening and posted a sign to use the men's room, but nope! Won't be back!
Mikki M — Google review
Food is usually pretty good here as weve been here before. Server seemed indifferent and not very friendly . Ordered food and never checked on us . Place was slow for a weekend eve. So staffing wasn't an issue. Our drinks ran dry and never checked on us except to deliver bill. Not sure if well be back.

Carbone's Pizzeria is a well-established local pizza chain known for its wide variety of toppings, hoagies, and salads. The restaurant prides itself on clean and friendly service with attentive staff who are happy to provide recommendations. Customers have praised the cleanliness of the establishment and its convenient location. The food has been described as excellent, with particular praise for the pan pizza house special at one location.
I love going to Carbone's pizzeria in Stillwater Minnesota. They have a potluck breakfast during the Vikings 8:30 a.m. European games. They give out free purple Jello shots every time the Minnesota Vikings score a touchdown during all season games. Kudos to the Jello shot girl, Jenna. Carbone's has top-notch pizza and they just added BBQ pork ribs as a special, $14.99. I always have a super fun time that Carbone's.

Ordered online from the Stillwater location. Got a text that said order was received at 544pm.The pickup time on my confirmation said 603pm (doesn't say estimated, says ready for pickup at). Got there about 607pm, told the guy my name, he asked again what it is, then asked if it was an online order. I said yes and he shouted my name to the MANY people in the kitchen (although only looked like a few were actually doing anything). The one guy says it's not quite ready, will be a few minutes. 4 more people walked in for their pickup orders, one guy asked if they had bottled water- guy at the desk says idk,the bar might. Then a few mins later says we have it we just don't know where it is. Then a few mins later, comes out with 2 cold bottles of water...very odd. I waited as those 4 people, along with 3 more after them, received their food and left. At 20 mins, the guy says, it's almost up, just a couple mins, sorry for the wait (yes he apologized, no it was not sincere- more of a formality). A different guy calls my name and says have a good night. I was missing half of my order, which I said to him. He looked at me confused and the guy making the food says it's in the bag over there. Get to my car to double check everything is there, and the "meatball dinner" I ordered is leaking sauce out all over the bag and 2 other boxes of food. It's meatballs in red sauce, baked with cheese on top. They literally dumped the sauce into the Styrofoam container, put the meatballs in and put the cheese on. It was slightly melted, more so like the hot sauce had melted it, rather than actually putting it in the oven before boxing it up. I did end up putting it in the oven at home, however, it was absolutely disgusting tasting and I ended up throwing it out. The cheese bread had 2 cups of sauce, since I ordered extra- but looked like they put the sauce cups in the box, Then the hot cheese bread around/on the bottom cup, which then melted the lid on the bottom cup. The pizza was mediocre- def doesn't taste like Carbones from back in the day. I sent the company as a whole a message on fb, to see how I can message that location, as there is not an email or contact us page on the site, only a.phone number. Judging by the way they acted in person, I don't think I'll get far with calling. Also after reading alot of these reviews, doesn't look like I'll get far either way. Such a bummer, terrible service, bad food but speedy. Really sucks that they don't think customer service and decent food are priorities.

Had a fantastic Pizza today at the Carbone's in Stillwater, First time trying the pan pizza house special. I do enjoy Minnesota style pizza. The only critique is I like to have the toppings above the cheese instead of under but it was so tasty it didn't really matter. I will definitely be returning to this Carbone's again and recommended it to my friends.

Listen- you want a low-carb salad, on a price scale (no offense crisp and greens but your lettuce prices are all the same) with dietary restrictions: no dairy, no chicken —- then guess what? For $12 you have the best chefs salad you ever seen. I prefer to order extra Italian dressing and jalapeños. I have a meal and a take home salad as this is ginormius. If you go during lunch it is only $9. Racheal the bartender has you covered with the best lunch (my faves: chef salad & a bloody- Bloody Mary not mix) and let’s not stop short of first, Jim- the owner. He will ensure you this is the finest Italian dining plane in Stillwater. Last and certainly not least is Kirke- she is the in Norwegian we call it … Det är det. Bottom line - good quality food, best staff- not close to Main Street Stilly but far beyond with quality.

Had a hockey team reservation booked weeks in advance. Were told upon arrival they couldn’t do jersey numbers for ordering (only restaurant I’ve ever heard of that doesn’t do this for sports teams), couldn’t split bills between families at same table, one kid in the bathroom at a time (what?), etc. So we adjusted, all went to different tables, and got nothing but more attitude, one family was told they wouldn’t even be able to serve them. We paid for our drinks and walked out and got a pizza elsewhere. White haired manager woman was extremely rude to all of us from the moment we walked in, kids and adults. Huge head scratcher all around on this experience. They didn’t want our business, so we will never be back.

Delivery times are a bit much on weekends, other than that its worth the wait. There pizza is amazing and hasnt changed a bit. Cheese bread is hard to turn down. Another one of my favorite spots
