5,200-acre park with hiking & horseback riding trails, campsites, river swimming & scenic vistas.
This is a well maintained park. You need to get your pass from. The entrance either by cash or through the electronic station using your credit card. There is a store at the entrance for any needs. The camping locations have water and electrical hook up. There are many trails. If you are going there between May and October, I recommend hiking early in the morning or late. The swimming area is to swim at your own risk. There is a parking right next to the trail that leads to the swimming area and there are portable toilets and a shower place near the parking area. I was able to see some deers a few times. Some of the trails are not much utilized hence recommend being careful and definitely use bug spray. The river bed and the views are very nice. I went in August so the water was low and not much friendly to swim.

Very cute state park! I only did 2 hikes and they were easy and well paved. Seeing the limestone at the falls and knowing it's 300 million year old is incredible. The designated swim area is gorgeous with lots of pretty shaded spots for when the Texas sun is killing you. The walk to get there has quite a few steps but pretty easy for anyone in decent shape.
Carly C — Google review
Had a blast there last weekend! My partner and I went camping there and during our stay, we visited many of the trails, saw some amazing views and even got to walk on the falls due to there not being a lot of rain lately. Which ultimately led to a burn ban being placed a couple of days prior to our arrival, so we couldn’t make a fire. But that was okay because we still had a fantastic time looking at the stars from our camp site. There’s quite a few trails in the park of all different lengths. There’s a swimming area that you can cool off in, after your hike too, which was refreshing. The bathrooms were really clean and maintained. The park staff were really welcoming and helpful explaining some things throughout the park. Would definitely recommend checking this state park out. We will be back
Darian G — Google review
Such a fun and fairly easy hike! Some areas can be slippery, the water levels were low when we went but it was gorgeous and worth the hike! Bring some flashlights if you go near sundown as getting back to the trail head is difficult at night.
Jacob K — Google review
Camped here for 2 nights, explored the falls and swimming area, and had a great time. Facilities are well maintained and clean. Some campsites have a sunshade over the picnic table already, but not all do so be aware when booking your site (always check the pictures). Beautiful weather in November 🏕️

I went to spend a few days recharging in nature. This park checked all the boxes during my stay. Beautiful scenery with decently difficult hikes for someone who needs more exercise. Big clean sites with restrooms that were also clean and accessible. I felt safe. Saw rangers patrolling regularly. It was comfortable and peaceful and I hope to go again and also to bring friends.
Joni M — Google review
Pedernales Falls is an absolute must-see destination if you are visiting the greater Austin area. This park delivers stunning, unique views and offers a fantastic full-day experience for families and kids. The primary attraction is the river's astonishing view of tiered limestone falls and sculpted rocks. It's truly a geological marvel that provides unforgettable photo opportunities. The park offers a designated swimming area (separate from the falls/flow area) and ample picnic spots, making it perfect for spending the entire day outdoors. You can also enjoy fishing in designated areas along the river. Tip: Be aware that the water level changes dramatically and quickly. Always check the park signs and conditions before venturing out to the falls area, as the area can be closed during flash flooding conditions.
Md M — Google review
Great park with options of swimming, hiking and camping. Plenty of parking is available near trails and hiking is pretty easy here. Loved the views and finding caves to explore. Swimming for the first few miles is off limits, but there are lots of spots to stop and cool off after that.

Pecan Street Brewing is a laid-back brewpub located in Johnson City's historic town square. The establishment offers a variety of house-crafted beers to complement its menu, which includes brick-oven pizzas, fresh salads, burgers, and Southern classics. Guests can enjoy the outdoor beer garden with live music and patio seating. The venue also features pool and shuffleboard tables as well as free wifi.
Visited on Easter Sunday completely by accident while driving through from Fredericksburg and wow, what a great surprise! From start to finish, everything was incredible. The service stood out immediately. The hosts, servers, bartenders all professional, friendly, and genuinely good people. The owners went the extra mile to make the holiday special for everyone dining that day. They even hid Easter eggs filled with candy and prizes on the patio for each family. Such a thoughtful touch! We sat outside on the patio, which was super cute, shaded, and just perfect for the beautiful weather. We ended up staying over two hours, sipping on in-house brewed draft beers and enjoying the food. We had the pretzel, the Nashville hot chicken sandwich, and a burger everything was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend this spot. 10/10! Will definitely be back

We visited after a long hike and really enjoyed our meal! The craft strawberry lemonade was soo delicious! My smash burger was flavorful and tasty. We also enjoyed the chicken nachos and Thai wings. The guacamole was also delicious! Our waitress was very friendly and helpful as well.

The wife and I decided to go on a road trip through wine country. For lunch, we stopped at this place. Despite being dimly lit, there was a lot of interesting decorations. Like the tables had wooden street signs protruding from the middle. The hamburger and sweet potato fries I ordered were unexpectedly awesome! I got just a basic double with grilled onions and cheddar. The richness and flavor of the burger is one of the best I’ve ever had. And I have eaten a lot of hamburgers. The service is not only friendly, but they genuinely seem like they enjoy what they’re doing. If you’re from the bigger cities and want to go on a road trip, this is a sure spot to hit.

We were in the area to visit the motorcycle museum and decided to give this restaurant a try—and we’re glad we did. The place was spotless and buzzing with activity, which immediately gave us confidence in our choice. Once seated, we were genuinely impressed by the attentiveness and professionalism of the waitstaff. The service was prompt, friendly, and thoughtful. The food exceeded our expectations. It had an upscale flair that you wouldn’t always expect in a Texas Hill Country restaurant. Kudos to the chef for the creativity and well-balanced flavors. All in all, this was a great experience. We’ll definitely be back when the fall motorcycle riding season kicks off.

Food was great! The hostess was very welcoming & with bubbly personality. They had serveral beer, wine, & cocktail selections. The strawberry blonde beer was a nice, crisp, lighter taste beer. Our server was good. However, the staff who brought the food on our table were lacking customer service skills. They did not seem happy with their assigned tasks. They need further customer service skills training. Their food & drink prices are more expensive than other similar places in town.

My wife and I had an amazing time at Pecan Street Brewing in Johnson City. We absolutely loved the laid-back, welcoming atmosphere. Our server, Grayci, was outstanding—her recommendations were spot on. The chicharrones were perfectly crispy, and our main plates were absolutely delicious. Great vibes, excellent food, and top-notch service. Highly recommended!

Came here for my first time on a Friday and had a wonderful burger that you cannot beat. The meat seemed very fresh and well cooked. My experience was so good I came back on Sunday with my family after church and it was still a great environment with very good service even when it was mostly full

We visited PSB during a car show. They were pretty busy but the service was excellent. Everybody was all smiles and despite being so busy they were able to seat 7 of us right away, in a nice quiet area in the back where there was a stage for live music. We ordered a hot pretzel and fried mushrooms for the table. We had chicken fried steak, a Benedict, and a couple "Chicken My Biscuit"s. The food was amazing. Hot, fresh, and plentiful. We were very happy with our experience and we'll be back!

First time visiting Austin and wanted something to do around the area. We came upon this attraction and can honestly say it was worth it. The tractor ride 🚜 that allows you to interact with the wildlife and feed them is an experience that we can completely recommend and would definitely do again. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Definitely visit and make some goat friends 🐐 and get some camel kisses. 🐫 💋 goat

These animals are hilarious! They have a great personality. Some will patiently and delicately eat out of your hands, others will swing their neck back to tell you to throw the food, and some will try to get into your window for food lol. One of the llamas sneezed when it greeted me, I thought it was just being silly until it got my fiancé with some spit! Lol! It is very easy to get distracted with the animals. One of the staff greeted me with a big smile and told us very kindly as one could far away, if we could hasten the pace. Oops! Sorry about that! I saw some of the negative reviews and it honestly made me upset for the business. I have been in upper management and paid close attention to how the staff greeted the customers and dealt with potential problems. I saw no issues here, and love that they see their employees as family too! I enjoyed my time, I will be back and will continue to tell others about this fun zoo!

We've been here twice (these pics are from back in March) and have a lot of fun each time! My 2 and 5 year old love feeding the animals, which come right up to the tractor. We did the guided tractor tour, which seems the easiest, and it's a good length of time. It costs extra for animal food but you get a decent amount, and the giraffe encounter also costs extra but is worth it. There are many different types of animals from zebras to camels, bison and deer, kangaroos and ostriches, etc. and separate from the tractor rides there are goats and a lemur, and more deer to feed and interact with. There is also a gift shop inside and a pavilion in the parking lot area. It's a fun and unique experience for lots of ages!

Great experience to all ages. From my 1.5 👶🏽year baby all the way to her 70 year old grandma 👵 we all had an amazing time there feeding the bison 🦬, goats 🐐 , camels 🐫 , ostrich 🦚 and others animals. Fair price to the the structure they provide also the store had good prices on gift items.

Did the drive through tour and it was so much fun. The animals run right up to your car looking for food. They’ll even follow you when you’re driving off! The animals are very social and well taken care of. Recommend animal lovers check this one out.

Cool place to visit. We rented Lucy's Den Cabin for a weekend. A bit pricey for what it was. Cabin could use a better coffee pot and more attention to cleanliness. (In cabinets and drawers was a bit of roach/bug feces.) Pool was ok'. The tour ride around was awesome though. Tour guide was great and very informative about wildlife. Very cool animals all around. Great for kids.

I would like to give a comprehensive recommendations and suggestions. Here we have just tried this few weeks ago. We are a family of 4+2. We wanted to try a drive-through since we one of our child is an infant. Since we were renting a mini van thought it’s sensible to go to a guided to her to save our vehicles from animals, and it was a right decision again. We had confusion between taking a guided tour or taking a private guided to work, so we have decided to be early in the morning, so we were there at 8:45, and we could easily make 9:30 guided tour which was less crowded and also fun because they play a nice music in the tractor. Please pack some food or a breakfast with you in the morning so that you can enjoy after reaching there when you have 45 minutes, you can buy two buckets of animal food for four or more people which is sufficient so you can utilise the initial 45 minutes to feed the pet animals there and dear and remaining can be on the tractor overall very friendly staff, very good guide very accommodative. It has got nice bathrooms and hand wash areas. Remember to do a hand wash after coming back.

Great location, excellent food, and outstanding service! The better half and I walked in for lunch today and were blown away… Jennifer was there to greet us and took care of our food and drinks as well…and she did a great job, both with just being friendly as well as making some great suggestions. We asked what she likes and she recommended the Chicken Bianca New York Style (14 inch) with the Pancetta…that was a little off menu but totally was lights out! Tons of flavor, a razor thin crust, and just the right amount of toppings. For the appetizer, we ordered the Historic 290 Cheesy Bread…it’s a little Detroit style but also is gluten free…and unless we were told, would never have known it…literally the best garlic bread either of us have even had! Nice beer and wine selection…the lions share being Texas made. To top it off…free classic video games…did get in a few rounds of Pac~Man. Definitely will be back!

LBJ pizza with sausage, pancetta, avocado, jalapeño with a honey drizzle - it’s a must order! The carrot cake was fantastic too.

How nice to have a really good pizzeria in Johnson City. The evening we went we had the place practically to ourselves with friends. Highly recommended, but would like to keep it a hidden gem! 😉 BTW, the wine was overpriced? But we grinned and dipped it.

I was here with a school class trip and came here to eat while waiting. I ordered the New York lunch special pizza, build your own. Had a great salad before the pizza was done. They make a dill salad dressing that is awesome! Service is VERY GOOD and the place is nicely set up. They also have wines but driving I couldn't try those.

Simple, unassuming spot in a small town—but don’t let that fool you. We’re from out of town and weren’t sure what to expect, but we were pleasantly surprised. The pizza was very good, and there was plenty of space to relax. Service was excellent—our waitress was attentive and friendly. Wouldn’t hesitate to come back.

We went on 8/22/25 and had the most amazing experience with Julissa. She educated us on some wines and had the best conversation. Her service alone will make sure we go again. We ordered the parm wings and pickle pizza. The best lunch I’ve had in a while!!

We came back! (2024) Pecan Street Brewery was full. (Lunch Rush) 12:30pm ( 1st week of summer) Key words: tasty, good, chill, good beer, We stopped by at this place. I ate here 2 times before nice chill place. Jazzy and chill. We got the 5 start treatment. Server saw the kids' shirt, put on gaurdians movies for us. Full attention. Refills and attention are great. Complete opposites of pecan brewery. (During lunch rush) I hope this place continues to be great! Thank you for your services! (2025) It's been a year since we atet here. It's still pretty good consistency. i love it!. Thank you, Jennifer!! You go above and beyond.

American restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Hill Country, Bryans on 290 is a charming American bistro that promises an unforgettable dining experience. With its cozy ambiance and inviting outdoor seating, this eatery serves up gourmet dishes crafted by chef Bryan Gillenwater, featuring mouthwatering entrees cooked over an open flame. The menu is complemented by an impressive selection of fine wines from local vineyards and international sources alike.
This is was such a perfect dinner spot! The food was mind blowing, the atmosphere is chic, and the staff were all so incredibly helpful! My favorite appetizer was the blue crab dip, their pork chop is out of this world and one of their most popular items for a good reason! I would suggest calling ahead to make a reservation to ensure you have a table when you arrive, but 10/10! We will absolutely be back to this one!

Food was delicious, but the highlight of our entire experience was the service and fantastic conversation with our server/bartender Kaitlyn. From the moment we were sat, we felt so welcome and taken care of. Kaitlyn was and always is incredibly attentive and friendly. I love how she takes the time to chat with us, offering a personalized experience that makes/made our night feel really special. For dinner, we started with the red fish chowder and ended with the filet mignon with mashed potatoes and macaroni for the sides. Both dishes were cooked perfectly, and the flavors were fantastic. While the restaurant itself is beautiful and the food is great, it was the exceptional service that will have us coming back again and again. If you're looking for a top-notch dining experience with friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely fun service, consider asking for Kaitlyn. You won't be disappointed!!

Bryan's on 290 should be a "must eat" when you are in Johnson City (or near it). We have been twice, and the service has been spot-on both times. The food is excellent, and their Lemon Tart is worth the calories. This is one of the very few restaurants in the Highland Lakes area that will start you off with an amuse bouche. In this case it was an unbelievably tasty salmon pate. We started our meal with East Coast Oysters and Steamed Mussels. Both were fresh and delicious. Four our entrees I had Jumbo Grilled Shrimp on Grits, they were amazing. My husband had their Smoked Prime Pork Chop, also excellent. Both times we have eaten here our meals were superb and, as a bonus, their patio is dog friendly!

Bryan’s just introduced a new burger for happy hour Tuesday through Friday. Now it’s not easy to break new ground with a Burger. But consider what Chef Bryan is doing and decide for yourself. The bun is baked in-house. The burger is a house-ground mix of steak, brisket and ground beef. I think about 7-8 ounces. Smoky grilled. Caramelized onions are not an afterthought. They add a perfect foil to the horseradish aoli. The cheese is American-cheddar combo. It is served with tomato pickle and romaine on the side. For me.. well all I can say is this: It passes the most fundamental test for any burger. Once you pick it up it will not put it down again. If you get the idea that Chef Bryan can throw down a contender for best-in-class any time he wants, you’re right. Craft Cocktails are plentiful and the wine list is wonderful. The burger is a 4:30 to 6:30 special and destined to become a local/industry favorite. And for good reason. It makes you happy. And isn’t that the point. Bravo Bryan!

Tasty tasty! Exceptional service. Pricy but well worth it. The specials were great. In particular the rib on cilantro rice was so delicious. Also enjoyed the bone marrow and ceviche apps. The sweet potato chips-so good! Recommended for sure.

My sister and I were passing through Johnson City when we landed on this gem. From the atmosphere, to the food, we truly enjoyed our time here. We also had a chance to talk with Chef Bryan and different people on staff. Everyone was super nice! My sister had the scallops, which were amazing, and I had the pork chop. We also shared some of the crispy Brussel sprouts which were amazing. I recommend this place as we hope to go back one day. It was truly a great evening.

Shannon G — Google review
We discovered this place as a recommendation from friends. It's a nice place with a great atmosphere. It was easy to get a reservation on a Friday evening, although I'm not sure we needed one and they have parking adjacent to the restaurant. So, to start with, we were taken to a table in the very back of the restaurant. It seemed odd since in the bar area, which was bright with sunlight, some nice music playing and other people but not full. Then there was what maybe is the main dining area with some other people. But we were taken to a dark area of the restaurant where there were no people and it was almost like they wanted to keep us out of view of other people? It was just me and my daughter and we were dressed nicely so this seemed quite rude and we had to ask to be seated somewhere not so secluded. I don't understand why the need to put us as far away from every other patron. The menu isn't large but everything on it sounded so appetizing... we actually tried several of the starters. We had the Steamed Mussels, Crispy Brussels Sprouts, Iceberg w/bacon and Gorgonzola and the Scallop & Blue Crab Dip. Okay the short answer is the Brussels Sprouts win hands down; but next time I would order then without the smoked pork belly. The iceberg with gorgonzola I would pass on. Nothing beats a traditional wedge salad with real bleu cheese. The "house made bacon" was too big of chunks and should should have been cooked more thoroughly but simply I just wouldn't recommend. The steamed mussels we are mixed on; they were cooked well and the sauce was good. But the mussels were the smallest mussels I have ever had. The Scallop & Blue Crab dip was good and while the toasted bread they served it with was good, it would have been so much better with the grilled bread that comes with the mussels. Please be aware, these appetizers are on the smaller side. Great for two people... but more than two people, you will want to order double or additional appetizers. For our main courses, we ordered the Seared Salmon which is served atop a spinach salad and has a soy lime dressing. We also had the 14oz ribeye with garlic buttermilk mashed potatoes. The salmon looked amazing... but just looked. The salmon itself was cooked to perfection... but the soy lime dressing is incredibly salty and just took away from the flavor of the salmon. As for it being a soy lime... I can't say I could taste much lime. But again, very salty. For the ribeye, it was okay. For the price, I was expecting a much more flavorful piece of meat. It was cooked as ordered and it certainly was tasty, but I wouldn't go on to say it was a great piece of meat or that I would order it again. For the mashed potatoes... very disappointing. Never tasted any garlic and while I'm sure they are not, they almost tasted like something from a box. It's staggering to me because mashed potatoes are so easy to make. These are not fluffy mashed potatoes but almost runny which is why I compare them to mashed potatoes from a box (just see the photo). For an additional side, we had the "Spicy Green Beans". Green beans they were... spicy they were not. To give it a full try, we even had dessert; We had the chocolate crème brûlée and strawberry shortcake. The 'chocolate crème brûlée was simply just chocolate pudding. I make an amazing crème brûlée and again, this was just chocolate pudding. The 'cake' in the strawberry shortcake was quite hard and not moist. Again, quite a surprise. Making a simple yellow cake is so easy. Last, the wine menu was also disappointing. There was one selection for a white wine by the glass and just a few reds. They have an assortment of wines but nothing on the list that stood out. It was a nice experience, but not a place I would go out of my way to try. We will probably go back at some point just to try again, but for now we will check out some other establishments.

The Science Mill, located in a refurbished mill, is a fantastic destination for families seeking an educational experience while traveling. Since its opening in 2015, this museum has been captivating children with its interactive exhibits and programs that promote STEM education.
I have to say I was impressed well above my expectations. This is such a gem for a small Hill Country town. I think this rivals if not surpasses some of the 'big city' museums and similar venues. The number, variety, and sophistication of the displays were interesting even for adults. While it is 'geared' for kids, as adults we found it fascinating. We spent about 3 1/2 hours here, and if it weren't for a bit of a limited attention span of elementary grandkids, we could have easily spent longer. Indoor and outdoor activities. The outdoor ball machine was great fun and we had to peel them away. The VR flying 'ride' was 2 minutes long and included with the admission. All in all, a great experience! Highly recommended.

What an awesome experience! I have good friends (literally family to me) visiting my wife and I. I had additional time with my friend's two sons, so I looked up science museums, (what kid doesn't like a science museum) and I saw Science Mill as a choice. Great choice I made. Both of the boys really enjoyed Science Mill. So many interactive galleries to check out, a virtual reality that is free, movie theater, outside and inside areas to explore. Science Mill in Johnson City, TX is a wonderful, fun place to check out. Especially if you have children with you. Definitely recommend.

This place is a really amazing. LBJ history on the walls with huge wooden beams and rusted silos. This is usually something you find in the big city. My 9 year old son loves this place. They make it easy to navigate the projects. I am so lucky to have this just 35 min of hill country drive away.

This is such a cool place! My kids (17, 12, 10) and I spent hours here. I think we did every activity! Love the combination of an old building with modern, interactive exhibits!

This place was fun and interesting. Even for the grown ups. Some of the exhibits weren't working but overall a great place to visit.

We enjoyed our visit! The interactive exhibits in the Silos were our favorite! Engaged both my 7th grader and my Senior.

Wonderful mission. Very nice exhibits. Super nice staff. I drove 6 hours to and from & it was totally worth it. From Houston, the drive was nice and so peaceful. I hope to be able to take my neices and nephews soon.

Overall we had a good experience on our first visit to the Science Mill! We drove in about an hour from Austin after hearing a lot of people hype it up. It was a lot smaller than I thought it would be but still had a lot to look at and try. I was disappointed that several of the machines were down and not working. I also do think some of the stations need more directions on how to use them. We couldn't figure some of them out and just had to guess. The staff was friendly but some of them do just stand around. My kids had fun and that's all that really matters!

The Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park Visitor Center and Park Headquarters is a public site dedicated to the 36th President of the United States. Managed by the U.S. National Park Service, it features galleries with historic items and timelines from President Johnson's life. The center offers shaded parking, informative stands about Johnson City and his legacy, as well as outdoor seating areas with park benches. Inside, visitors can explore auditory informative areas and view an old Model T Ford.
Nice welcome center. Plenty of parking. 4 movies. Timeline of LBJ’s life. Replica of his Texas white house office. Can your his childhood home - still original in johnson city. Nice experience.

Interesting history on the Texas White House and LBJ's childhood home. It's in two different spots, downtown Johnson city, and outside of town about 14 miles at the ranch(which is at the state park). Both areas were interesting and informative. We took a tour of the childhood home and then did the auto tour of the ranch. The NPS website/app has an audio tour for the ranch drive that was really informative. Support your National Parks!

This was a very informative experience. The rangers and other staff were very helpful. I was not fully aware of how much LBJ had done for our "Great Society." There are 2 parks about 13 miles apart. This National Park and the LBJ State Park. Plan extra time to see both and drive through to see additional exhibits, etc.
Kevin E — Google review
What an educational tour of the visitors center and the home LBJ grew up in. The rangers were very informative and took their time explaining the history and answering questions. There are videos to watch if you have the time and a gift shop to explore.

We had a wonderful tour of the boyhood home of LBJ. Our tour guide was very informative and provided many interesting facts. LBJ used his roots and his observations to create projects that were beneficial to his constitutes.
Rob P — Google review
Our family stayed in the Hill Country for Spring Break, and one of our day trips was to learn about LBJ, our 36th President of the United States, by going first to his boyhood home in Johnson City and then going to the LBJ Ranch. It's helpful to start one's trip first at the LBJ National Historical Park Visitor Center in Johnson City, view its exhibits and introductory movie upon request that summarize the President's humble beginnings and rise into politics, first as US Representative and then Senator, Senate Majority Leader, Vice President, and President of the United States. The exhibits and movie tell about his "Great Society" domestic accomplishments on civil rights, health care, and welfare as well as his presidency tainted by race riots and poor public opinion on escalating American involvement in the Vietnam War. We timed our morning visit with the ranger talk at the boyhood home. Afterwards, go to the LBJ Ranch in Stonewall by first going to the LBJ State Park and Historic Site Visitor Center to pick up a free driving permit and self-guided tour map of the ranch run by the National Park Service. Driving around the ranch, one gets to see LBJ's famous Hereford cattle roaming the grounds and baby calf in the show barn. Final stop is the Airport Hanger Visitor Center, where one gets to view the Lockheed Jetstar Air Force One-Half, LBJ's car collection, and grounds of the Texas White House. We timed our afternoon visit with the ranger talk at the Texas White House. Even though LBJ's boyhood home and Texas White House are closed under renovation, we had a great time learning from the ranger talks and were able to walk around surrounding grounds. Virtual tours are also available online and in the Johnson City Visitor Center.

Love walking around the park and seeing the visitors center. Easy to get this place confused with the other park. Went here during the day and then stayed to enjoy the Christmas lights around the town. Johnson City puts on a go show. Thank you so much.

Great historical spot. The Ranch mostly closed but did get to visit Air Force 1/2, school & farm where he was born. His boyhood home in Johnson City was wonderful. Tour of home outstanding!

Such a vibe! This place has everything you want in a coffee shop — amazing atmosphere, incredible coffee, and sandwiches that are seriously next level. You walk in and instantly feel at ease — warm lighting, great music, and just the right buzz of people. The coffee? Bold, smooth, and full of flavor. And don’t sleep on the sandwiches — super satisfying. 10/10 recommend!

Their spring special— Lemonade w/ Butterfly Pea Flower Tea (pictured) was positively magical. Got to the establishment 12 minutes before close and the staff were all very welcoming and happy to serve us. They even served us some turnovers ON THE HOUSE that they were going to be trashed at closing time. 10/10 would order here again.

Yummy coffee, clean atmosphere, food trucks outside, kind staff. Was really happy that they could customize a blended espresso drink for me- I love banana and coconut add to espresso! It turned out really good! Love that they use Greater Goods coffee beans.

On our way back from a winery tour, we stopped by this small country coffee shop by chance, without any expectations. The interior was beautifully done, so instead of just getting takeout, we decided to sit at a table for a while. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the visit even better. Most importantly, I had the best of the best coffee here — absolutely unforgettable. Highly recommend stopping by if you are in the area.

Yum. Espresso latte was smooth and delish - not bitterness. My wife had a salted caramel latte and remarked it was perfect and my son had that chocolate chip cooking, which was as much chocolate as cookie - it was very good as well.

The food is amazing and the smoothies don’t like don’t even let me get started on the smoothies. The strawberry banana smoothie is probably the best and the atmosphere is really good. They have games, books and other stuff and their stuff that you can buy like candles, shirts, and more And there’s a place that you can lounge around with tables and chairs and the service is really fast and the people are really nice. I do recommend 1010.

Lost Draw is a delightful destination that truly captures the essence of a memorable winery experience. During my recent visit, I was welcomed by an incredibly friendly staff who made everyone feel right at home. The atmosphere was lively, with delicious wines flowing and scrumptious food to savor. A special shout-out goes to Shawn, whose charm added to the fun—don’t forget to ask about that infamous duck photo!
We love this place! We joined as members during our first visit back in October 2024. Since then we’ve gone 4 more times and each visit is a lovely and relaxing experience. We were there yesterday and had a tasting in the Barrel Room with Woody for 7 adults and 4 kids, to be out of the rain. They assured us it was no problem having little kids in the barrel room. They are so welcoming (the “welcome wine” is a plus!), accommodating, and truly treat you like family which is refreshing as some of our previous favorite spots have become not family-friendly and don’t allow kids. Towards the end of our tasting Griffin came and played ball with two of the boys which allowed us some adult conversation. The wines are great, the staff excellent, and the property beautiful. They also have a number members can text to make tasting reservations which is so convenient. We hope to make it to a member event soon, they always look incredible. If you’re looking for a laid-back wine experience with some REALLY good wines, visit Lost Draw.

First winery hit on a quick trip. Pretty cool outdoor seating area with tree cover and shade. They have you sit down outside and they bring the wines to you for your tasting. We actually shared a tasting. The older lady helping us was the sweetest and most kind lady I think I’ve ever had the pleasure of experiencing at a winery. She walked us through the whites and reds. My partner enjoyed all of the whites and some reds. I enjoyed most of the reds but I would rate them in general as “fair”. I can’t really say and stood out to me. Their take on viognier was lackluster but the Tempranillo was fair. No major standouts really. Whites were super light.

I booked this for my birthday, a large group tasting for 6. It was to include a "large" cheeseboard that fed "6-8 people. We even asked the server if it was a large or if there was a mistake. He confirmed it was their large. Luckily we had one person back out so there were only 5 of us, so we got 2-3 bites each. Anyone that loves a good cheeseboard knows people want more than a couple bites!! How was this a large board? Photo 1 is their alleged large board. The next photo is of a board that was for TWO PEOPLE at Slate Theory - beyond impressed with that one!! The other is just an insult. ...Especially after I told my friends I had a surprise for them (for my birthday lol) and that is what came out. I would never return after this 💔

Hi, this is Phil. I was a guest of Anna’s at the latest big group meetup. We enjoyed plenty of different wines and all of the employees were very kind. We finally met the famous Shawn (ask about the duck photo). Everyone was super friendly and treated us with care. The wine was super duper and scrumptious. Food and band was awesome. Shout out Shawn! He’s the best. I’m the best. Not sure. Either way. Staff is great. Try the wine. Live. Laugh. Shawn. P.S. that duck photo better be in the office. P.S.S. Thanks for having us! So anyway, here’s a brief history of Hawaii: “Hawai‘i was originally settled by Polynesians around 1,500 years ago, who developed a rich culture and society across the islands. In 1778, British explorer Captain James Cook became the first European to arrive, marking the beginning of increased Western influence. The islands were unified under King Kamehameha I in 1810, forming the Kingdom of Hawai‘i. After decades of political and economic pressure from American interests, Hawai‘i was overthrown in 1893, annexed by the U.S. in 1898, and became the 50th state in 1959.” Best, Again, Phil

Hot Mess Pizza & Grill is a popular food truck located in Johnson City, TX. They offer a variety of options including Artisan Pizzas, Grilled and Hot Fried items that cater to different tastes. Customers can customize their pizzas or calzones with various toppings and fillings. Despite being a food truck next to a bar, the quality of the food exceeded expectations. The thin crispy crust pizza, such as the Cowboy, was particularly delightful.
My husband was craving for some good pizza & not the typical chain. We were passing through Johnsons City to get home to Boerne. I found it thanks to Google & got my attention all the good reviews about this food pizza truck called HOT MESS & Oh boy!!!😍🤤😊 Now I know why has like 5 🌟 🌟🌟🌟🌟 I would give this place 10 stars if I could. Pizza is phenomenal!!! We ordered the large Pepperoni Devastation & was to die for. We ate the whole pie... It was that yummy!!! Super cheesy, tons of delicious peperoni & the perfect crust!!!! So glad we found this hidden gem!!! The owner Cowboy & Cow his senior dog are super nice & friendly!!!!! We can't wait to come back again soon!!! Kudos to Hot Mess Pizza 🍕

We came to go Johnson City and we're craving some pizza and found Hot Mess Pizza online. Calling to place the order was nice and easy and we were called just as the pizza was ready for pickup. We got a large pizza with extra cheese (half sausage) and a small Supreme. The cheese was tasty and the sauce has a little kick to it that was just right. If there's anyone who's sensitive to spice, you might want to let them know, but everyone in our family ages 8 to 88 enjoyed the pizza! 🍕

After getting done at Pedernales we were starving and decided to call in an order to this highly rated place. I was surprised that it was actually a food truck next to a bar but so glad we tried it! The food was just amazing!! They were out of boneless wings so we just ordered the plain with sauce on the side. The pizza was the Cowboy? And it was just perfect, Thincrispy crust. A great local place!! Highlight of our night, thanks Guys!!

Pizza was really good!! Sat at the outdoor covered seating, the man in the food truck was very nice, pizza came out much faster than expected, first time eating here, but probably won't be the last if my family and I pass through this city again! Thank you!

Stopped in during a road trip from San Antonio and I'm glad we did. The whole family enjoyed it. We ate at one of the two picnic tables provided but there is a covered seating area across the lot. We will do this again. Thanks for a great meal!

Driving through Texas, I wanted to try something unique and funny to the area on my way out. This came up on the GPS as on the way and had pretty stellar ratings on Google and Yelp. When arriving, I was a little confused that it was food truck as the first picture showed an interior with seating. The photo ended up being from the coffee shop next door which upon asking, allowed us the bring the food inside. There were also some other food trucks in the area implying this is an area in which they are stationary. I placed my order and was told it would be 15 minutes and that they would call me when it was ready. The time passes and the pizza was ready. All and all, it was pretty good. It had a nice clean flavor and cooked just right. I had pizza at the Kalahari two days prior, but would say that this pizza was actually better than theirs. Would recommend this place.

Stopped by on our way to Dallas and found this gem! Got a meat lovers and trouble mess pizza. They were both Delicious! We wanted to try a burger but unfortunately they were unable to make it. The food we did order was still superb. The Balsamic Glaze on the trouble mess was something else! Definitely a great local spot to grab some food with friendly service.

We had the “troubles mess” and a batch of naked hot wings — all were cooked to perfection. The wood oven pizza had a great chew/crispness to the crust. We will be back to try other selections on the menu

Proof and Cooper at The Lumberyard offers a pleasant dining experience with a variety of dishes. While some found the service slow, they enjoyed sitting outside on the patio. The fried chicken sandwich was praised for its generous portion, while the brisket sandwich was noted to be tasty but cold. Prices were considered slightly high. Another visitor had an excellent meal with tender brisket and delicious sides, praising the friendly staff and lovely ambiance.
This place was really good , nice looking inside ,our waitress took our order and came often to check on us after our food came .. my wife had chili and we were both impressed with it . I never order chili anywhere because it's usually just greasy hamburger meat soup ...this was not like that at all. You could have made a sandwich or tacos with it ...it was so meaty you could stand a spoon in it and it was not greasy but good lean meat . My chicken fried steak was tender and my green beans were perfect . I'd like to say something about dessert which sounded like it would be good but I didn't get any because the portions they gave me for dinner were enough to where I don't think I could have eaten a dessert ..probably have to skip the appetizer and that extra link of sausage..all in all a great Sunday dinner

had a nice lunch with the family and enjoyed just about everything! service was friendly and attentive. the atmosphere is simple but warm. our food seemed to take longer than expected for how quiet it was. the pickle chips were great. the bbq was a bit hit or miss though. the beans and potato salad were fine, same with the sausage. the pork ribs were tasty but the brisket was lacking flavor.

So good, we came twice. I love their pecan salad! That dressing was like a lemon ranch. I never had anything like that before. I ordered that with a side of turkey. That turkey was SO good. My husband liked the bbq a lot, but he said he’d hoped for a Smokey flavor. We are used to the Smokey flavor in bbq but it was missing that. Either way, the meat was very delicious and so tender. Dang shame we don’t have this place near home. But, I’ll try and replicate that salad!

I had the Cubano sandwich. It was great, a very healthy serving as well. We also had the chicken fried chicken. The flavor was just a bit off when paired with the gravy which was a bit in the bland side. I totally appreciated the service and friendliness of everyone on staff. We'll more than likely go there again at some point, but we'll be more selective. Recommend.

Oh. My. God. I don’t even know where to start… would you just freaking look at this plate!? All this for $21. Where else can you get a plate of DELICIOUS & JUICY BBQ this size in the hill country? I will be making the 50 minute drive from Lakeway far more often for this. Maybe known well around town, this place is an absolute hidden gem to the rest of us living closer to Austin… this place gives every BBQ spot around the big city a run for its money. I think I’d eat this off the floor without hesitation 🤤😋

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Untamed Wine Estates and it was truly an unforgettable experience! From the moment we arrived, the ambiance was welcoming and vibrant. The landscape is stunning, with beautiful lighting and exquisite details that create a perfect vibe for enjoying great wine and food. The pizza we had was absolutely delicious-perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor! Each bite paired wonderfully with their remarkable selection of wines. Speaking of wine, we were fortunate enough to go behind the scenes and witness the winemaking process firsthand. Exploring the barrels and learning about the intricacies of wine production added a unique touch to our visit. Every aspect of Untamed Wine Estates exceeded our expectations. The combination of delicious food, flavorful wines, and the beautiful surroundings made for a fantastic outing. I highly recommend this place!

Their patio is beautiful. The view was so nice and relaxing. We had a tasting with Lezli and she was very attentive, knowledgeable and helpful. You have to order one of their pizzas. We had the Meyer Lemon pizza and it was truly amazing!

Suzie was awesome! We started our day at Fredericksburg with Untamed and Suzie lit our day just as we reached the town on our first stop. Pizza recommendations were awesome and we super loved the Southern African Summer and Kale No! pizzas. She recommended the Lemon-heirloom salad which was so refreshing and a great starter to the Pizzas main. We had the Grand Flight and the Proprietor's Reserve Flight. Both had a company of wonderful wines which we had no regrets ordering. The wines were great pairing to the food and we enjoyed our time there. Great place for alcoholics and non-alcoholics (for pizza) at the same time!

My husband and I had the most amazing time at this vineyard during our recent trip to TX. We showed up around lunchtime on a very windy Monday and had the place mostly to ourselves - we loved the upscale but relaxed atmosphere and immediately felt at home. The views were wonderful but the wines were the star. I LOVED my rose flight (something I didn’t find elsewhere.) The charcuterie board we shared for lunch may be the prettiest I’ve ever encountered at a winery. It was more than large enough to be our shared lunch, but would also be perfect for snacking with a larger group. Everything we had was truly delightful. Michael was extremely attentive and made sure we had everything we needed - providing overviews of the wines and vineyard, as well as recommendations for future stops on our trip. Thank you for a wonderful visit!

My husband and I came to celebrate his birthday. Sebastian was our server and he was soft spoken and really kind. We shared the Meyer lemon pizza and a bottle of white wine. The hostess was so nice and friendly. I would definitely come back for the pizza. Also, all their flowers were blooming and the bees were really happy. We shared their cheesecake which was made from a Japanese potato, and it was interesting but delicious. 🤤

Untamed Wine Estates continues to impress! On Sunday, June 8, 2025, we took some close friends to Untamed for lunch and wine. Our friends were given a 5-star treatment by David, and had such an enjoyable and memorable time. David is so knowledgeable about the wine and a terrific asset to the team at Untamed. David even took the time to take our guests on a guided tour of the barrel room and production facilities. Of course, Chef McKenzie's food is always delicious and she continues to amaze us with how quickly her kitchen gets the amazing artisan pizzas to the tables. The fabulous wines that Dane puts out are so impressive! Extremely well-balanced and fruit forward with perfect tannins that don't overwhelm the beauty of the grapes and the flavor of the wines. Consistency and impeccable service keep us coming back. We appreciate being treated like "family" by Dane, McKenzie, Anouska & Ryan (Congrats on your recent nuptials you two!), Suzie, David, Lezlie, Tom, Lu Ann, Sebastian and all of the other team members that work so hard to make Untamed such an incredible experience! We love you ALL and we dare to be Untamed! George & Gigi

I visited Untamed with my sister for her birthday and what beautiful experience we had. We did a wine tasting and had the mushroom pizza during our visit which was to die for. It paired so nicely with the Pinot noir from the wine tasting. Tom was our waiter and he was simply incredible. We had a great tasting experience with Elisa, the winemaker, in her intimate tasting room! She shared wonderful stories about each wine and her fascinating journey toward living her dream. We enjoyed ALL of the wines, especially the traditional method sparkling wines. Go ahead and make your reservation - you’ll thank me.

When your passion for traditional style champagne methods is just itching at you, one can’t help but seek the opportunity to pursue those dreams and make them a reality. The Hill Country, as well as Texas, has been blessed with this unique winery’s focus on making quality sparkling wines. This new venture by owners Elisa and Chris Jones started with 2020 wine vintages (Merlot and Aglianico) and about nine tons of fruit. Since then, they have acquired property near Johnson City in 2022, and it has been full steam ahead since. The current location sits on 43 acres with a current “tiny” tasting room opened in the Summer of 2022. Using French specialized champagne equipment, Elisa honors the traditions of méthode champenoise in every bottle. Although they are a boutique winery, they have set up an impressive full-scale production for producing Texas sparkling wine. There are plans for future expansion and a vineyard too, for estate sparkling wines. About 12 acres are planned and you can look forward to Chardonnay being grown there for a future bubbly to savor. The soil does need some rehab, so they have planted some ryegrass and clovers, helping to bring those nutrients back to the site. Currently, grapes for their sparkling and still wines are sourced from Texas Hill Country AVA, Texas High Plains AVA, and the highly sought after vineyards near Dell City. The winery has been under the incubator care of John Rivenburgh which has been an added blessing for this new startup locale. Two main flights are on the list for tasting, “Only the Reds” and “I Like It All”. Let’s just dive right into the good stuff for starters. Being initially treated to the 2023 Sparkling Trebbiano will wet your appetite for what was to follow. It’s fruity, refreshing, and tingles all the way to your toes. This was equally complimented by the 2023 bubbly Grenache. A stunning introduction to their passion for sparkling wine proved that their wines were spot on. Their still wines were equally well crafted. The 2023 Vermentino was a great follow up to the sparkling wines showcasing bright, crisp, and refreshing citrus and floral honeysuckle notes. And who doesn’t like a good Texas Mourvèdre Rosé wine? Their 2023 vintage was left on the skins longer and is incredibly refreshing with lovely strawberry notes and good acidity. Moving on to the reds was the 2022 Sangiovese. Aged for 18 months in a neutral oak, juicy cherries will dance across your palate coupled with a soft touch of smoke for tease. Following the Sangiovese was the 2022 Mourvèdre. Those plum and berry notes reigned supremely paired with a medium acidity. Next in the tasting lineup was their 2023 Amelia. Oh my! This version of a Bordeaux style red wine blend was simply fabulous. With a blend of 50% Merlot, 25% Malbec, and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, its prominent notes of plum and cherry, plus that soft feel will be quite soothing for red wine lovers. Malbec lovers should be equally pleased with their 2021 vintage. Black pepper, plum, and some smoke will delight your palate, leaving you longing for a big juicy burger to pair with it in your future. The Tannat was also impressive with a deep, big and bold full body feel. The 2022 Segno II was the final wine sipped. This Tuscan style blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon was very balanced with medium acidity, and a lovely finish that will put a big smile on your wine face. Having already made their mark on the Texas wine industry in such a short period of time is quite impressive. Their pioneer effort in producing top quality sparkling wines in Texas is showing all the signs for a successful future ahead. This is a small, hands-on, friendly family run operation, and you should plan to chat and sip while you are there as the owners are happy to share their story and passion for this endeavor with you when you visit. Being further off the HWY 290 traffic does bring a bit of serenity and quite nature Zen to the tasting experience, which you will find to be a bonus. Can’t wait to visit again to sample future vintages. Santé!

A great gem just off the beaten path and not to be missed. The reds are excellent. Don't overlook the location because the service and tasting is a real find. Alyssa is and excellent hostess. This should be one of the big-time stops on the Fredericksburg crael.

Excellent experience this past Saturday. The tasting room is quaint and modern. It is set up to get to know the wines and winemakers. I’m excited to try their sparkling wines in the future! Take the 9 minute drive off 290. It is worth it!

A way off the beaten track. Great wines but from other winery sources. Probably the smallest tasting room that you will ever see (two tables). Most of their business seems word of mouth and by reservation. Very good service. Worth a try for the adventures getting there.

Fantastic new winery! Overall, All the wines were superb. Quality and attention to detail are shown from the bottle and label to the last drop. Clearly the wine maker is showcasing a lifetime of knowledge and love of wines. The Rose is the best my wife and I have ever had, and the Malbec blew me away. Can’t wait to try the next releases and the upcoming sparkling wines. Watch out Napa, Elisa Christopher wines are coming to take all your awards!

We love coming here!! The wines are a fantastic representation of the fine wines Texas has to offer. It’s always an enjoyable and relaxing experience here. The tasting room is beautiful as well. Porter is great in the tasting room and can navigate you through their great selections. Head over to Westcave and enjoy!! Cheers!!

We attended the 2024 eclipse here and loved it! We had a family reunion and everyone at Westcave was so helpful. Even when there were small mIsunderstandings they were very kind and helpful. Bathrooms were clean. Wine was delicious! We traveled all the way from Africa to be here and I would do it again!

I loved the beers here! As a Belgian who grew up surrounded by great beer, I can be a bit picky — but the Dunkel really stood out. Smooth, rich, and full of character. Definitely my favorite! Thank you Porter!

Great winery, awesome beer, and amazing food. The owners are very inviting and present. We always have a wonderful time.

My wife and I heard wonderful things from another couple about Westcaves wine and beer selections and had to see for ourselves. We arrived shorty after opening on Sunday and was well greeted by Margaret. She was an absolute delight throughout our entire wine and beer tasting experience and would highly recommend anyone looking for true Texas made wine and beer to drop in. Plan on staying awhile because the drinks are amazing, the property and tasting room very comfortable and you're likely to meet alot of their members which you're sure to make immediate friends with. Pet friendly and they have a spacious overnight property with outdoor patio available for anyone looking for a short walk to the winery. Cheers!

Party of 12 really enjoyed our time spent at Westcave. Very personalized and great wine. Thank you so much for the outstanding hospitality.

I brought a group of 8 out for the weekend to celebrate my birthday, and we did the cellar tour and tasting. Margaret sure knows her stuff, and we all had so much fun learning about her processes and tasting straight from the barrels at various stages of production. We are not new to wine, and each of us walked away with new knowledge. Their merlot is fantastic and should not be missed!

My go to winery that I always stop on my into Fredericksburg and again on my way back out. By far the friendliest winery off 290 with the best reds hands down. Took a girl trip this time and Zachary was an amazing host! We took home several bottles and a case that was on sale. Also captured several fun pics. Everyone must stop at Ron Yates or if you’re in Spicewood go to their sister winery Spicewood Vineyards

Great wine, everything that we tried was fantastic! The people were very nice and the grounds are very beautiful. We will definitely be coming back!!
Courtney M — Google review
We're pretty new to TX wines because we're new to TX, so we wanted to learn. The Ron Yates wines were some of the best we've tasted so far in TX. There seemed to be a theme...the 2021s were all really good. Equally important, in the tasting room, Zach and Courtney were fantastic. So friendly, so accommodating, and eager to show off the wines. We'll be back with friends....
David T — Google review
Ron Yates Wines is our go-to spot in the Texas Hill Country for great wine, service, & atmosphere. There is a nice selection of wines, something for every palate. The staffCourtney, Zach, Barry, & Dan—are really knowledgeable about the wines. I just describe what kind of wine I feel like having and they always have the perfect suggestion. They are very attentive and often walk outside the tasting room to see if we need new pours. Each server brings a different, wonderful quality to the experience. We have been very selective with joining wine clubs. This is one membership we will keep. The wines are delicious, with Texas & California selections, and the pickup parties are fun with live music cover bands. We are looking forward to the brand new, larger tasting room and restaurant that will be opening in a few months. Besides the awesome staff, good vibes, & great wine, it’s also one of the only places in the Hill Country that is open 7 days a week. This is a must stop on the 290 wine trail for a great wine experience.
Mrs. B — Google review
While the wines have won awards and the Tempranillo is quite special, the tasting experience, overall, was really disappointing compared to others we had the past few days using the wine passport. It seemed the the person working really did not care that we were there at all, she shared zero explanation on the wines (we had to ask for information), and it was not even busy. I also noticed her petting a dog and then not washing her hands before pouring our wine. Maybe this winery doesn't care much about presentation or frills but I know we will not recommend it to others who come to Fredericksburg...given the excellent experiences we had at some other wineries, we were underwhelmed.
Ch N — Google review
Whatever magic the owners poured into their award-winning wine, the staff clearly missed the memo when it came to the rest of the experience. The Cabernet Sauvignon? Absolutely worth a stop—bold, smooth, and just the right amount of “I deserve this.” But don’t come hungry unless you’ve packed a picnic or brought your own carving knife. There’s no food in sight unless you count the bulk cheese and meat in the mini frig by the bar. You might end up slicing your own salami while sipping in survival mode. Great wine. Bring snacks. And maybe a sandwich artist.
Heather B — Google review
By far the best tasting experience we had. Super friendly conversation, liberal pours, and we ended up taking several bottles away of delicious wine.

12 Fires Winery & Vineyard is a charming and hospitable winery located in the heart of Texas wine country. Visitors praise the warm welcome and knowledge of the staff, as well as the fantastic wine selection. The laid-back atmosphere allows for a relaxed experience without the need for reservations or pressure to purchase. While currently not handicapped accessible, the winery offers both indoor and outdoor seating options.
Had an amazing time with Duke and Sheri ! You guys made us feel so special. All of the wine was delicious it was so hard to narrow it down to my top 3. Our stay in the glamping tent was also amazing. They provided absolutely everything. Definitely going to come back very soon !
Leslie C — Google review
We spent a couple of nights in one of the glamping tents at 12 Fires (recommend #5 !). The tent had everything we needed, including a nice shower, mini-fridge and efficient A/C. The owner was very responsive and even gave us a tasting after hours (great wine !). The bed was very comfortable and the bedroom was dark enough to sleep late. The nights are very dark, so the stars are quite impressive. We were the only glampers, but #5 is far enough from other tents that we may not have known even if there were others. We had access to the tasting room deck in the evenings which was really nice. Also access to gas grill which made some great burgers to eat with the 12 Fires wine ! Recommend giving this a try. Location is perfect for wine tasting trip.
Nancy W — Google review
We stayed at the glamping tents for two nights… it was a great experience. The tent has a full bathroom, fridge, microwave and most importantly a coffee maker. The sleeping area of the tent had portable AC unit. The winery has good wine and pizza to offer. Recommended :)

The owners and staff are extremely nice and knowledgeable. The new tasting room is absolutely beautiful and when the sun is setting behind the vineyard, it's simply breathtaking. The wines are really really good and are some of our absolute favorite in the area. 12 Fires is a MUST stop when you're in the area!

I went to 12 Fires industry night and man did it make my day. I was greeted by duke and watched him give a detailed, engaging and above all entertaining tasting. The winery combines a friendly, approachable ambiance with a lively spirit, making it an ideal place to gather and unwind. As someone who is antisocial and doesn’t like wine by the end of the event I was sitting, laughing, enjoying music with the owners and enjoying my new favorite wine. At 12 fired I promise not only a amazing experience but by the end you’ll find something you like.
Falon N — Google review
If you enjoy good Texas wine, do yourself a favor and stop in for a tasting at 12 Fires. We stopped in for the first time this past weekend and thoroughly enjoyed our tasting and the attention, insights on the wines and the stories we got from Duke. Across the board, we enjoyed the Trebbiano, the Prudence Rosé and the reds we tasted. I think our fav or the reds was the Tempranillo so we got a bottle of that while we noshed on some snacks.

I visited a winery in Johnson City and it was absolutely incredible! From the moment I walked in, the customer service was top-tier—some of the best I’ve ever experienced. The staff truly makes you feel welcomed and well taken care of. The bathrooms were spotless, which says a lot about how much pride they take in their space. The charcuterie boards? Chef’s kiss. Beautifully arranged, fresh, and delicious. And let’s talk about the view—breathtaking doesn’t even begin to cover it. Whether you're sipping wine or just soaking in the atmosphere, the scenery makes the entire visit unforgettable. Hands down, no other winery has taken care of me the way this one did. If you're ever in Johnson City, this spot is a must-visit!

We did this on the wine passport and it is hands down the most comprehensive tasting experience we’ve done. The tasting was paired with good bites and wonderfully descriptive information about the wine they produce. The private tasting room is beautiful as is the winery itself. The wines are subtle, accessible and passionately created. The red Trio Rosso was a favorite but I purchased the tasting wines in total. For cigar lovers, they have you covered as well! Lovely experience!!

What a wonderful surprise! Great views! Great wine! A spectacular charcuterie board! We stopped in on our way out of town and this was the highlight of our trip. Kuddos to Tyler and his amazing knowledge!

Visited Siboney twice and both experiences have been top notch! This time we participated in the October Wine Month passport, which made this experience even better. The owner Miguel took us through their barrel room and a personal presentation of history on their wines and familia history with a food pairing. Thank you for the wonderful wine and amazing experience.
Tami — Google review
Nice atmosphere and the charcuterie board we ordered was exceptional in their careful selection of cheeses and meats plus more. I arrived earlier than our ‘member’ friends so the experience for non-members is definitely different when it comes to access and tasting (specially after we toured the huge indoor and additional level and back patio with them). The wine was good I’m a red wine drinker but with the heat I had white (Semillon) and it was a great dry buttery finish very enjoyable for a red wine drinker. Cuban flair is in the decor and atmosphere with great cigar options and hats too! Overall really enjoyed ourselves and they did make us feel at home.
Cristina M — Google review
We selected this winery as one on the October Wine Passport options and it was one of the best and most memorable of the wineries we visited. The wines are sophisticated, unique, and the location adds to the depth of the flavors. It was also wonderful to learn about the story about the evolution of this winery. The Cuban sandwiches are 100% authentic and delicious. So glad we chose Siboney among the many options on the Passport. We highly recommend!

Outstanding vineyard with beautiful wines to sip into the sunset. Beautiful facility with great membership deals. Siboney Cellars should certainly be on your destination list!

Honestly, I just don’t get it. We read the Texas Monthly review and I admit the views are pretty but the wine isn’t very good - and that’s what’s most important and disappointing. We had jamón that was so dried out that it looked like what happens after a pedicure when someone shaves off dead skin off. I would suggest you not serve jamón that is this dried out. The empanadas were decent. My suggestion for those who are truly in to drinking high quality wine would be to check out Ab Astris, William Chris, Kuhlman, or Lewis.

Old 290 Brewery & Restaurant is a multifaceted establishment offering exceptional food, beer, and wine. Guests can enjoy a delightful dining experience with dishes like short rib or cajun shrimp pasta paired with their outstanding beers such as the double brown beer aged in bourbon barrels. The outdoor seating area adds to the charm of the place, providing a great spot for enjoying live music while savoring their offerings.
This venue is very well planned out layout wise. You are greeted with a lovely water fountain and open green space for kids to run around. They offer many outdoor seating options. We enjoyed the cool breeze on the patio. The service was a bit slow considering it was hardly busy. Dogs are welcome and they offer a kid menu option as well. The angry birds appetizer was absolutely delicious and had the perfect crunch with the Szechuan glaze. Enjoyed the flights and the food was excellent. They offer a selection of beers and wines that are made in house. We will be back and would like to try their brunch!

A Breakfast Gem with Unmatched Service! 🌟 From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with the warmest welcome and genuine smiles that instantly set the tone for a perfect morning. The atmosphere was cozy yet vibrant, and the aroma of fresh coffee and sizzling bacon was impossible to resist. The food? Absolutely delicious. Every bite—from the fluffy pancakes to the perfectly seasoned eggs—tasted like it was made with care and quality ingredients. But what truly made this place stand out was the incredible service. Our server, Charlize went above and beyond, checking in at just the right moments, offering thoughtful suggestions, and making us feel like we were the most important table in the restaurant. It wasn’t just professional—it was personal. It’s rare to find a spot where you feel so genuinely cared for while enjoying a fantastic meal. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, do yourself a favor and stop in. We’ll definitely be back!

The service and the staff were outstanding. Tamas checked us in Friday 11/9/25. He was very nice, friendly, informative and pretty funny. Our experience at the Tasting Room was fun and our sommelier, Briget, was knowledgeable and friendly. She even bantered back and forth with us. (We're a fun group) Megan served us dinner the first night and breakfast our last morning. She was knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating. Daniel served us dinner on our 2nd night. He was great. He was very observant filling out glasses, taking our dishes when were finished, and always checking on us. The food was disappointing. At dinner the 1st night the Chicken Fried Steak was overcooked and óver-breaded and the Fettuccini Alfredo was was bland the sauce was thin and disappointing. I split the burger with my friend and noticed the next night that there was a $6 charge for split meals. The Parker was good but not worth the $6 charge. Saturday night we ate on the porch at the 290 restaurant. My husband ordered the Philly Cheesesteak. It was on 2 slices of Ciabatta bread w/ hard crusts. I ordered Cesar Salad. Once I cut up the 2 small "heads" of Romain lettuce, mixed in the Parm & Cherry tomatoes and the chicke, it was pretty good For breakfast we, once again are at the 290 Grill. Our order came ( over 30 minutes, minus) 1 (mine). My husband's egg over medium in the biscuit was over cooked, cold and hard. When I finally got my meal it was fine, just late. Our accomodations were very comfortable although in our town home, the bottom sheet was too short for the bed

Every recommendation was spot-on, and you could tell she truly enjoys what she does. It made the entire dining experience feel personalized and elevated. The pacing of the meal was perfect, and Sam checked in just the right amount—not too much, not too little. Their professionalism and warm demeanor added so much to our visit, So much so we had to ask for her again in the morning for brunch 😁 We will absolutely be back, and we hope to be seated in Sam’s section again! Event venue
Upon entering the Texas Vintage Motorcycle Museum, I was immediately captivated by its impressive ambiance. Instead of the typical museum or gallery setting, it is housed in a 1950s automobile dealership, exuding a rich sense of experience. Beyond simply observing a collection of motorcycles, one can truly immerse themselves in the atmosphere and personal narratives that showcase an undeniable passion for motorcycles. During my visit shortly after their opening day, I was struck by the incredibly social environment present within the museum.
Texas Vintage Motorcycle Museum in Johnson City is a hidden gem for enthusiasts and casual visitors alike. Opened in spring 2022 by passionate collector Gordon Massie, the museum houses nearly 100 meticulously restored vintage bikes from the 1950s to the 1970s, with around 83 on display at any time plus rotating loaners . Housed in a former Ford dealership, the setting adds old‑school charm, complete with vintage gas pumps and eye‑catching displays . Visitors rave about the friendly, knowledgeable atmosphere. One Yelp review gushes, “We love this place. The people are so friendly and knowledgeable. Oh, and the bikes are fantastic too!” . The collection spans iconic brands—Harley‑Davidson, Ducati, Moto Guzzi—and quirky show‑pieces like a WWII bomb‑casing‑sidecar and a Norton Manx racer . Admission is wallet‑friendly at about $6.50, and kids under five get in free . With regular hours Thursday through Sunday, plus occasional venue rentals, it’s an ideal stop on Hill Country trips. Whether you ride or just admire craftsmanship, this intimate museum offers an authentic, personal ride through two‑wheeled history.

Fun and comprehensive collection of motorcycles, most from the 1930s through the 1980s. Seemed well-balanced among American, English/European, and Japanese bikes. I appreciated the well-written info cards on each bike. Owner is friendly and knowledgeable. Was worth the drive we made from Austin to see the place.

awesome vintage motorcycle museum, two huge halls of rare and rare machines. Thanks to Gordon for collecting and sharing such a collection.
Renat I — Google review
This place was so cool. Tons of bikes from all different eras, each one labeled with a little history about it. Everything from really old and unique bikes to more modern bikes, and the impact they've had on the motorcycle scene. This man obviously loves and lives motorcycles. My favorite part was the man behind the counter though. I believe he was the owner, but I realize now that I never explicitly asked. He was incredibly friendly and very knowledgeable. He had an Aermacchi Harley, which I had never heard of. I asked him about it, and he gave me the story right off the top of his head. If you're in the area, this is a quick stop I wouldn't miss. You can expect to spend 15m-1 hour in here, depending on how in depth you look around. The admission fee is really inexpensive (I can't remember the exact price)
Joshua W — Google review
The owner is super friendly and has an amazing collection of vintage motorcycles in a vintage old Ford dealership building that used to sell Model A's when they were new! Well worth the $7 admission!

Don't miss this place of motorcycle history. Gordon owner and collector has a awesome collection of vintage bikes. You don't want to miss it.

This museum is absolutely worth a stop if you’re going through Johnson City. The owner made his dream come true, and it really shows in his care and knowledge. The building itself is still quite original, having been a Ford dealership. There’s a treasure hunt and little play area for the kiddos, and the cleanliness and thoughtfulness is fantastic (even the bathrooms are so nicely tended and stocked!). You really won’t regret it.
Jessica H — Google review
What a fun museum! It's much bigger than it looks from the outside. There were so many interesting motorcycles to read about. The owners have definitely done their research. There are also some really cool custom builds. Definitely worth stopping in for.

Visitors are greeted warmly by friendly staff who provide helpful recommendations and assistance without being intrusive. Nice clean and organized with a nice collection of vintage items, they also have new items as well. I love how they display the items to make you see it in a new light and as a way to decorate with older unique items. The Lady working was super friendly. I was able to score a nice vintage brass pot with a modern flair that I plan to put a small plant in. They had several items I wanted bit I'm traveling so I had to be mindful of that. I'm from Louisiana and thought it was pretty neat to find an old New Orleans Sewage and Water Board man hole cover for sale. Definitely worth checking out if you like vintage shopping/thrifting

Did NOT feel welcomed at all. We were the only customers in the store and not one word was said to us by the two ladies that were there. If your going to profile someone make sure your cabinet that they are standing in front of doesn't have a mirror to see you looking at them with an indifferent look on your face. Don't worry I kept my hands to myself and didn't touch anything since I noticed you watching us the whole time.

Tons to look through. Prices were a little high for the majority of items but I was able to find a few treasures. Word of warning.. if you are sensitive to smells I would be cautious. There is an abundance of candles burning all with different smells...definitely had scenery overload. Left with a few treasures and a headache.

Wasn’t planning on stopping in Johnson City, but car troubles demanded it. I didn’t spend too long in Vintage 205, but I had a very nice time. They had a wide array of antiques at very reasonable prices, and the woman running the counter was a pleasure to chat with.

They have nice stuff there.

The prices were pretty steep for things that resembled Hobby Lobby. Friendly employees. Nice variety of things.

The Johnson City Visitor Center is a wealth of information! Francis is promoting JC businesses and turning this little town into a destination!

I went to check in the visitor center information last Saturday morning about this enchanted little town. For my surprise the door was closed with lock during working hours. Finally a lady opened the door, and asked me what I need there! I tried to don’t laugh because it is a visitor center where supposedly you can find information about the attractions, restaurants, etc ! She didn’t let me pass the door, and I asked me to please don’t move from there, and she gave me a map. I had to look by the door the historic information display! She told me to just to go to the square park for a restaurant...It was a very weird and little creepy experience! Happily we saw the science mill, and we could go in! It was very beautiful and interesting!

Tatum Cellars is such a gem!! The wine is spectacular, the tasting room is adorable, and Wes was such a delight. Not only was he a spectacular DJ on the record player, he was such a congenial host and wine educator. Highlight of our trip to Johnson City!
Brynnan F — Google review
Owner and winemaker, Joshua Fritsche, is no stranger to the Texas wine world. Many know him from his days at a number of wineries, most notably William Chris and Ron Yates. He launched his own wine brand after the birth of his daughter in 2012, Tatum Rose – and thus began the next chapter in his winemaking career. With a focus on single-vineyard and Rhône varietals, Joshua has become well recognized for his quality wine production. Many long-time Texas wine fans will also remember the 2012 Hotspur, with the gorgeous wine label - just might have a bottle or two left in the cellar library! In the beginning, you could find Josh’s wines at a few pop-up events which were great to attend and chat with the winemaker as you sampled his small batch produced wines. It has been a very long time coming, but the small boutique winery tasting room in Johnson City is a great addition to this journey. What was once a barbershop (which still has some of that décor) has now become the go-to tasting room for Tatum Cellars in this quaint vintage building in the downtown Johnson City square. There are currently five wines to sample. All wines on the list are currently single vineyard, plus all Texas Hill Country fruit. Production is just around 1000 cases per year, so the hands-on and personal quality checks are all there. The first bottle sampled was the 2023 Trois Étoiles. This classic Rhône style blend was crafted from Uplift Vineyard fruit and is a blend of 63% Marsanne, 21% Viognier and 16% Roussanne. It is well balanced and quite refreshing with notes of stone fruit, good acids, and a bit of minerality. Next to sample, was the 2024 Rosé of Carignane. This newbie on the list was whole cluster pressed from Spicewood Vineyards with a very beautiful nose followed by a crisp and refreshing wine. An ecxcellent wine for warm weather days. Moving to the red wines, the first to sample was the 2020 GSM. Oh my… this mighty beast is loaded with robust flavors, good acids and is very well balanced. The Grenache (60%) was sourced from Uplift Vineyard and the Syrah and Mourvèdre (20% each) came from Salt Lick Vineyards for this super fine GSM. The next red wine sampled was the 2020 Syrah. For this vintage, the fruit was left hanging on the vines longer than normal and it underwent extra maceration and had a “splash” of Mourvèdre added to it. It has very nice smoky notes to it along with natural tannins to dance across your palate for that big mouthfeel satisfaction. Rounding out this fantastic tasting experience was the 2020 Mourvèdre sourced from Salt Lick Vineyards. Sitting at 15.4% abv, this high alcohol wine is well integrated with spicey notes and a touch of nuttiness on the finish. This wine was made with Montepulciano skins as part of the process for a little extra full feel and color for this wine. Everything on the tasting menu is take home worthy. You might also notice the collection of vinyl records in the corner and LP player as you sip and savor both the wines and the music collection. This small tasting room has a well shaded backyard area for that little feel of Hill Country outdoors enjoyment to compliment the classically cool inside décor. As a bonus, they are open till 8pm! You will get the vibe of how this place fits in well with the small town feel that still lingers in Johnson City when you stop in and enjoy a visit. The team is friendly, and the space is hip. It’s a great place to sip, relax, and enjoy your favorite record music and wine pairing. Cheers!

Amazing wines! Joshua was nice enough to talk about the Texas wine industry and walk us through some amazing reds. Totally worth a visit if you’re out tasting or just want to sit and relax in Johnson City.

FANTASTIC PLACE! The rose was absolutely amazing. The bread and butter was a perfect little snack on the side...so warm and yummy. The owner was very friendly and provided great service. Cute and clean little place. There is an outdoor patio as well. I will be returning!

You have to go here! Josh is amazing his wines are great. All of the wine pros in the area seem to know each other and recommended all sorts of places and this was one of our favorites It’s right in town too so it’s easy to find and a nice spot for a tasting or a drink

The wines here are great! They’re a collective of wines from local wineries and the owner is a knowledgeable, cool guy that can give you recommendations on a variety of activities. He was great to talk to and there’s a back patio that’s completely covered in the shade of their trees so you can enjoy your flight out there! Bathroom is super clean. Would definitely go again and take friends!

Mr. Hahne is the sweetest guy and the wine is delicious as well! He walks you through his family's history in this area of Texas and has some really cool stuff related to LBJ. It may look unassuming but you should make it a stop on your wine tours!

Restaurant
Fat Boy Burgers is a casual and unpretentious eatery with outdoor seating options, offering high-quality burgers and homemade fries. The food is said to be wonderful, with juicy burgers and amazing fries that are made to order. Unlike fast-food establishments, the wait time may be slightly longer due to the freshly prepared nature of the food. The staff is known for being friendly, creating an overall pleasant dining experience.
I was super hungry so no food pic sorry. The place was nice and clean. It has good vibes 😎 You can eat inside or out. I had the guac burger, daughter had the steak fajita salad, and he had the bacon wrapped hot dogs. Both said their meals were delicious. The portions were just right…. A nap is needed lol

Best gluten free buger!! This will now be the new meet up spot for my family and I who live an hour each direction. The burgers and fries taste amazing!!! Wendy at Fat Boy Burger was absolutely the sweetest! She greeted us with a big smile, made sure our order was perfect. Her kindness and friendly attitude made the whole experience even better. Definitely made us want to come back!

Straight talk, solid 3.9⭐on my first stop. This place is making some solid food but making some serious rookie mistakes in my opinion as a hunter of great burger joints. -- When you order any type of cheese burger it should never come with the junk shredded plastic cheese you find in a salad bar. A solid slice of cheese that is properly sized to the patty is required! - I found the burger prices slightly high for this roadside setting. They are somewhat offset by the low cost fries but then again why not just include the fries in the price of the burger basket and call it good. The fries are hand cut and were good, think similar to Wendy's but a little thinner and also not oily which is nice. -- Gimmicky costs for every extra like a simple condiment topping or different type of bun $1-$1.5 each. Please stop this is not California. - Some flies to control. Not the worst Ive seen but simple traps from Rescue work amazing placed 30-40 ft away from where you don't want the flies to go. ++ Staff was friendly and the menu was diverse and there are daily specials. Plenty of seating outdoors and some indoors ( I sat indoors). Food came out reasonably quick. Noise level inside was decent. ++ Buns tasted fresh and were properly toasted without being greasy all over. + + Burger patty is a large portion and was medium finished moist but not dripping wet while eating (that is good). Beef was fresh and did actually have a noticeable quality beef flavor. Burger could be seasoned a little more and slightly more char / crust. *Maybe would thicken up the pickle slices to hang with the sizable patty. This place is definitely worth a stop and I believe can be greater with a little bit of effort. Thank you to the owner for the response and reading.

What a great burger! Had OG fat boy burger and man was it good. We had both fries and onion rings, both were great. Next time going back to listen to music in their beer garden.
Joe W — Google review
Fat Boy Burgers is decent. I wouldn't classify them as being the place you just have to stop at. In my opinion they're pricey, burger a little on the bland side, and bun is from any ol supermarket. A single patty burger only (no side) is right at $11. If you're passing through, headed north, and can wait for Storms in Burnet or Lampasas, you'll have a better burger and save some money (Storms Special - triple patty burger with fries - is $11. The Fat Boy venue is pretty cool, though. And the staff were really friendly. If I were a local I'd probably eat there often but next time I pass through I'll try something else.

Loved having @fatboyburgerstx out at Garrison Brothers Distillery. Really enjoyed the Pulled Pork Nachos. So tasty. Would highly recommend

First time here I got the daily special I ordered my burger Pink nice and juicy and it came out perfectly. The home cut fries we're good I wasn't expecting the thin cut. That was a nice change. Play the super busy but the food came out pretty quick it was packed inside so I sat outside which was really nice. I think every county worker comes here for lunch.

Where do I begin. The food was out of this world. The price for all four of us was awesome. The onion rings are so good. This is a place worth driving over an hour to enjoy a great burger.
