Roadhouse Bastrop is a family-friendly grill known for its delicious burgers, sandwiches, and vegetarian options. The rustic charm of the wood-sided building and patio creates a welcoming atmosphere to enjoy their award-winning food. This eatery has been serving old-fashioned themed dishes since 2004 and has been recognized as the best burger spot in Bastrop for an impressive 16 years in a row.
After six years, this was our second visit – and my wife’s original statement, “best burger ever,” still holds true. Friendly staff and delicious burgers. If we return to Bottrop, we’ll definitely stop by again.

I wish I got our waitresses name because she was so sweet and very accommodating to our needs. (Pretty eyes with a piercing) Will for sure come back to dine in this establishment if I’m ever in the area again. I probably wouldn’t order the chili cheese fries just because the shredded cheese seemed too dry for my liking but it had a good flavor to it. The hamburgers are huge but very tasty.
Zayin R — Google review
We waited until after 3pm to miss the lunch crowd, we did not miss the crowd. Thankfully, they have additional indoor areas. So, accommodations... good. Servers were very friendly and informative. They also have different recipe buns that accentuate the whole burger experience. Jalapeno / cheese bun for me, thank you very much. So, beef good. Really good burger and was made to perfection. If you drive by and your hungry, just stop. You will not regret it, it was really tasty.

I can’t remember if I have left a review at this place or not but if I did it’s good enough to leave another one! I found out about this place through coworkers and it doesn’t disappoint. The service is fast and the burgers are good! Everytime I’m in the area I stop by. It’s a highly recommend place to go. They bought the building next door so now there’s more room for seating. I get the western burger with no onions and it hits the spot. I also get the peanut butter chocolate milkshake! Prices are good as well. Worth the money!
Michael B — Google review
There’s a lot of buzz about this spot—and after finally checking it out, I can confidently say the hype is real. The menu is packed with incredible options, from comfort food favorites to creative dishes you don’t always see in a small-town restaurant. The service was just as impressive—friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. If you’re passing through Bastrop, this place is definitely worth the stop.

Order 2 Chicago style hot dogs about 40 to 50 minutes before pick up got there at 7 o'clock. They were not ready. I waited 24 minutes longer. I walked in the door as a woman was coming out. I said, what's the name on that order? She says it starts with a C i said that's me, she said, i'm very sorry. Your food has been overpriced ever since COVID. Your staff has always been underpaid and I'm guessing, but I don't know that your landlord is the one who wants a percentage of your profits on top of the rent. If you can't run a business equally and profitably, where you're at, then move to a different location and treat your employees right and adjust your prices. I am not coming back. Your employees are not my problem. They're your employees you pay them. I forgot to mention why I put the pictures of the hot dogs if you look closely. One is a full length of the bun, and the other is a regular hot dog.
Cevon C — Google review
The food & service was great! This spot is very unique. Was a bit warm inside but we still enjoyed our lunch. About $50 for 2 people.
Shyanna T — Google review
Quick service, seating inside was comfortable and more in the outside area. Bacon cheese burger fantastic and juicy, Avocado burger same, and the layered queso bean dip hit the spot

Nature & Parks
Park
Bastrop State Park, located in a county of the same name, spans 7,400 acres and offers a wide range of outdoor activities such as biking, swimming, hiking, birding, fishing and geocaching. The park features 78 single-family campsites for tent camping as well as historic cabins from the 1930s available for rent. Visitors can enjoy fishing, swimming, kayaking, canoeing and paddle boarding at the Colorado River.
Bastrop State Park, nestled in the heart of Texas' Lost Pines ecosystem, offers a serene retreat just 30 miles east of Austin. This 6,500-acre park is renowned for its unique loblolly pine forest, the westernmost of its kind in the U.S., providing a picturesque backdrop for outdoor activities. Visitors can enjoy hiking over seven miles of scenic trails, fishing at Lake Mina, swimming in the seasonal pool, and biking along the scenic Park Road 1C. The park also features historic Civilian Conservation Corps-era cabins and facilities, adding a touch of nostalgia to your visit. Whether you're camping under the stars or simply exploring the tranquil surroundings, Bastrop State Park offers a perfect blend of nature, history, and recreation.

Bastrop State Park, located about 30 miles east of Austin, is a beautiful and peaceful retreat in the unique Lost Pines ecosystem. The park is spacious and scenic, with over 6,600 acres of pine forest, trails, and wildlife. We stayed at Site 77 and had a great time — the site was clean, quiet, and conveniently located. The seasonal swimming pool was a great way to cool off, just note that it requires a separate reservation. Overall, a great spot for camping, hiking, and relaxing in nature!
ArcesAdventures — Google review
Did a lost pines loop on weekend. The north part of the trail goes deep into the forest. The South part is more on the open. A few CCC buildings on the route, a few people on the route. Very peaceful.

Well run state park leas than 2 hours from Houston. Multiple campsites. Facility was excellent with climate controlled bathrooms and wash area. Some campsites are near to highway and you can hear traffic. Not too many trails. There is a YMCA pool inside the park but was closed when visiting in May. Campground caters for large groups and scouts.
Pog E — Google review
So many trails to choose from! We only had time to hike one trail but I wish we would've been able to stay the day. My son loved seeing all of the lizards. They were everywhere! We will definitely be coming back to see more of the park

The pine trees there are amazing and the historical cabins are pretty cool! I definitely recommend going down the scenic view from Bastrop State Park to buescher State Park!

Really nice place to tent camp or RV at. We stayed in tents in the Deer Run area, although we never saw any deer, lol. Restroom facilities were cleaned every morning, big and spacious. The playground was next to the tent sites. They also have a pool in the park. This park has a lot of trails if you like hiking. During our hike, their were structures built from back in the day by the CCC Boys. A lot of them are still standing and in pretty good shape. Overall, this park is a great place to camp out at.
Steve B — Google review
This is a beautiful park with lots of great amenities, BUT a couple of things are helpful to know in advance. Be sure to check the alerts on the park’s website before your trip—I missed the temporary burn ban and wasn’t able to use a grill or campfire, which cut my stay short since I had brought meals that needed cooking. I’m totally to blame for overlooking it. If you’re tent camping, the "Deer Run" sites are close to Hwy 71, so you may notice traffic noise at night and the occasional headlight through the trees. Light sleepers might want to pack earplugs or look at other camping loops for a quieter experience. One feature I really loved was the dish-washing station—it’s such a convenient touch that made cleanup easy. Overall, the park is lovely, and with a little preparation, it’s a great place to enjoy the outdoors.

A fun place for the whole family! I've taken my family here many times to see films. We've also done some bowling, and even enjoyed the arcade! This place has a little something for everyone! The facilities are always clean within reason, the staff and helpful and friendly, and the theaters are good quality. I would definitely recommend this theater if you're in bastrop and looking for a fun family outing.

Games were fun. Movie was meh but that's not their fault. Super fun decorations around the place for the Jurassic Park movie. Food was good, hot. Drinks were strong, bartender was super sweet and fast. I recommend. With or without kids.

Watched Tron today. Mikey and Maria were the Attendants on duty. Both greeted us with a smile. It was one the best experiences I have had at this location. Honestly I usually go to Austin because of past experiences. Today Mikey and Maria made me glad we didn't. Thank you two for making my visit great.

We love our local Film Alley! We've seen tons of movies, watched live comedy shows, played in the arcade, and bowled for many hours here. For our son's first birthday party we rented space and had some great staff to take care of us during the whole event. Bastrop Film Alley really thrives on its small town charm and hospitality.

The bowling alley and arcade were great. The food was -1 star. Over $70 and it was terrible. Threw much of it away.

We enjoyed every time we come here. We order ONLY burgers all the time, those are great especially watching a movie. Lol. Friendly staff and always clean. Great place for the whole family

Theaters had reclining seats and were super comfortable and air-conditioned. Tickets were much cheaper than Austin Staff was friendly and they had extensive food options. Great place to catch a movie or bowling or the arcade.

My husband and I went to see a late showing tonight and I just want to say how impressed I was with the staff! We had Kinley as our cashier and we always forget to mention the combo for our burgers and she reminded us to do that. Was very informative on the menu and was just so kind and sweet! Had to others help her get our order when they had no customers. Just so very impressed! We love film alley!

Located in Bastrop Center, as you head towards -71, you'll encounter a charming store known as the Sugar Shack. This hidden gem is adorned with the Texas flag on its roof and flags on its porch. It serves as a delightful candy shop that brings back memories of your childhood. Make sure to visit with your young daughter for a lovely photo opportunity. The store offers an array of candies, ice cream, and desserts that will surely satisfy any sweet tooth.
What a great place ran by great owners and great employees. From the flavors of the treats and ice cream that is delicious their stock of candy and novelty gifts are worth the stop in any time! We had our sins 2nd birthday there that I thought would be a complete disaster due to weather but the owners went above and beyond to make it not only happen but a great fun time for everyone and a birthday party our son enjoyed so much! We do a party there again and again and stop in for all our seeet needs! Thank you natacha, her family and her staff!

Simply delicious. Came in this afternoon for some hand dipped chocolate covered strawberries! 🍓 The man who was working was quick, and kind… and he made the best strawberries! They were so ripe and perfectly sweet! This was a special treat for us as we don’t go for sweets too often. Thanks so much Sugar Shack!

When Sugar is working behind the counter, he takes that store to a whole other level! Grateful to have both him and the store for us to enjoy in Bastrop and surrounding areas! Sugar, keep up the great work and if I could clone you, I would because you'd make this world a much happier place! Sincerely, Joe Perez, Jennifer, and Mom

After several of my mom's friends/customers ranting and raving about this place, my mom and I took four of my grandbabies, her great-grands, to visit the shop on July 24, 2025. We were definitely disappointed. It's an overpriced grocery store knock off with a few handmade treats. The pricing was very misleading, and when questioned why we were charged more than the advertised price, we were told the shelf pricing hadn't been changed, but it was current in their POS system. Seriously? Who does this? Needless to say, we WILL NOT be back, nor will we recommend it to anyone else. If there's room for improvement, it should be addressed!
Heather B — Google review
I always have a pleasant experience when I go to Sugar Shack. Especially this evening since we went right before closing and the young man working was just the kindest person providing the best service despite the late hour. The ice cream here is way better than other places I've been, and there's always a cool treasure or gift to be found.

I have visited Stem & Stone Craft Beer, Wine & Eats multiple times and have consistently had a great time. It is one of the few places in Bastrop where you can find an excellent burger. The servers have always been wonderful, and Stephanie has been particularly welcoming on each visit. Their fry sauce is delicious and reminiscent of an oriental thousand island sauce. I highly recommend stopping by for a date night or meal out.
First off: Veteran Parking. Thank you! Second, the burgers are amazing! Going to be a 'must stop' on all my trips between Houston and Austin now!
John C — Google review
Fries were perfectly cooked, but unseasoned. The 1836 burger was burdened with dense, dry, flavorless pulled pork. I only ate about half of the burger, and I came hungry. None of the flavors in the menu description were detected in this meal. Nice decor and great service. I really wanted to love this place, but I won't be back. No excuse for serving a dry, bland burger. I can do better than that at home or even at Chili's.
Darin D — Google review
Its always an amazing experience at Stem & Stone! We were hosted there for a private event and the coordination between the host and the service staff was awesome. The food was fantastic and perfectly complementary to the wine parings. Great people, great food, great service and a pretty darn good selection of draft beer too!
Theodore ( — Google review
We ordered a fried pickles, burger & fries and honey mustard chicken sandwich. All delicious, esp the chicken sandwich! House ranch is my fave & they do it right. Casual, Texas themed place with attentive staff. Highly recommended if you’re in or passing through the area, it’s right off the highway!

Great lunch when driving through town. Friendly atmosphere and attentive service! A drink menu would be great to have - you can see the taps and tap list and then some non-beer options are written on the blackboard behind the bar but no descriptions or prices given.
RES R — Google review
Went for lunch. I enjoyed my 1836 burger. Bthe grilled cheese was a little too basic. Enjoyed the pear cider. Wish the menu would be more expansive. They had a good selection of drafts and a bigger selection of wine.
Gabriela C — Google review
What a lovely establishment!!! Thierry staff is so friendly and very helpful. Their food is outstanding! They are located across the street from Film Alley so it would make the perfect date night (Dinner then a Show.) My one complaint is that I didn't come sooner.
Jerrica S — Google review
You're better than this S&S. Really, this is a $16.00 burger (ordered with extra cheese)?? The meat patty isnt even a quarter of an actual inch. Look at the wilted lettuce they put on it. Wow, I thought you liked serving the people of Bastrop. For something twice as fresh and twice the burger try literally any place but here. I ordered pickup and called when I got there, they said they just finished the order. Then I waited 5 minutes in the parking lot and decided to go inside, yep - order was just sitting behind the bar. What's happened to this place?

Italian restaurant
Restaurant
Bassano Del Grappa Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria is a family-owned establishment that offers traditional red-sauce Italian dishes like pizza and pasta in a spacious and rustic setting. This upscale eatery, which opened its doors in 2012, takes pride in serving not only delicious but also healthy fare. With a great ambiance and attentive service, this restaurant is highly recommended. However, there is room for improvement in certain dishes.
First time here on 6/12/25. We had lunch specials. My wife had the lasagna with salad and I opted for the spaghetti with meatballs along with the soup of the day. This restaurant is located just north of 21/71 in Bastrop, at Loop 150. Easy access and plenty of parking. Nice clean spacious dining area. Meals came with basket of bread. Very reasonable pricing and generous portions. We will definitely be back to sample some of their other dishes.
Rodney W — Google review
They start you out with soft buttered bread rolls. As an appetizer, we recommend the sausage plate. Slices of Italian sausage in a marinara sauce. Hint: Save your bread rolls to use with the sausage and sauce. Pretty good! Salads are very fresh with a variety of dressings. Large enough to be a meal in themselves. Pasta dishes are good. They only serve 10" personal pizzas if you dine in. NY style with thinner crust and lots of cheese. If you order to go you can get larger sizes. The pizzas are average in seasoning and ingredients. Sorry but not really rememberable. Recommend the pasta dishes over pizza. Service is quick and friendly. Music is not too loud and sometimes it is Italian. Nicely decorated. Casual place. Overall nice place.
Peggy B — Google review
I was headed towards Double Dave Pizza but found this place instead and I always try to support local. It is a really down-home feeling kind of place. The free garlic rolls are some of the best I’ve ever had. And another plus is they have free real butter to use! The cheese sticks were incredibly stretchy and the kids loved them. My side salad was really fresh but the creamy Italian was too sweet. My spaghetti and meatballs was average. The meatballs were tender but not a lot of flavor. The sauce was ok - I didn’t quite like the after taste (strong herbal smell). I would definitely come back to try something different. The servers was so friendly and I loved the local vibe.
Kim B — Google review
Unexpectedly nice Italian food in a small town. We were returning from our camping trip and needed a good fix of pizza and pasta and the place did not disappoint. The best thing was the Minestrone. We also ordered the house special vodka ravioli and it was yum. Expected a bigger portion size for that price. The place had nice music and atmosphere.
Aditya G — Google review
Calamari is solid and some of the thickest squid I've had as calamari. Nicely done. Garlic Bread Knots are really lacking any flavor. Nice soft and doughy, but need more seasoning and butter. Make them Crack like. Lasagna is quite different than any lasagna I've ever had. Its very very thin in thickness and light sauce and seasoning. Its not bad but lacking flavor and depth to me. Lasagna out to be like Sunday dinner heavy. Pizza... meh. Says NY style but having experienced NY pizza like John's or Joe and Pats in NYC this pizza is more a Midwestern thicker crust. Sauce is decent. Sausage is not my style its the dog kibble type vs nice hand pulled house ground bulk sausage.
Matt B — Google review
Dinner rolls supplied as starters were delicious, but don’t eat too much cause the main courses we had were huge and delicious.
Freqflyer5 — Google review
I had a so called friend who advised me to never eat here. My wife and I tried after hearing many positive reviews about their pizza. We went for lunch and split a personal pizza. The atmosphere right off the bat was Italian inspired, our waitress was one of the best I’ve had in years, and finally the pizza was phenomenal! The free bread was also delicious. I highly recommend Bassano Del Grappa for fresh local Italian.
Paul — Google review
Absolutely one of my top favorite places to eat! I will literally drive the distance for the food here! Absolutely true authentic Italian flavors and food here! The portion sizes is more than enough for two people me and my wife can share a plate and still have more than enough left to take home. Want Alfredo sauce on the side? Do it! Never had Alfredo like we have here. The customer service is one of the best in the industry and never have such a long wait on your food. It always comes out hot and fresh! Our favorite dish here is the tortellini Michelangelo with Alfredo sauce on the side and we always do the soup loaded potatoe instead of the salads! I will always brag about this place I have tried so many other places in my life between the food, the atmosphere, the customer service, and the freshness of the food and the authenticity of the food I can’t ever say I have had better. Thank you guys for always making it a great experience here! Keep up the good work!

Piney Creek Chop House is a relaxed eatery with a brick exterior that serves generous portions of beef and seafood. It offers an extensive wine selection in a cozy atmosphere. This restaurant is ideal for special occasions, but reservations are advised for those who prefer dining inside. Customers praise the delicious bacon-wrapped scallops appetizer as well as the impressive steak and salmon dishes. The portions are sizable, often requiring leftovers to be taken home.
A lovely coincidental experience, on my way to Austin i dropped by, met some wonderful people, amazing and pleasant staff, their food is sourced from a local producer, simply put great vibes and awesome unique dishes. A must visit if your passing by!

This restaurant is hands down the best one in Bastrop. This is coming from an individual who moved here from Austin, TX. Best fine dining place and Megan made the experience fabulous. I requested additional items on my plate and she helped me dressed my entree to perfection. When it comes to food, I care about quality and presentation. Piney Creek made sure to deliver that! Thank you Megan, your vivacious personality will take you very far in life.

My aunt and I made reservations for this place and I'm honestly disappointed. We ordered the Bruschetta for our appetizer and it honestly just tasted like Pico De Gallo on toasted sourdough bread. Also, if you are going to serve steak, you should have the proper utensils, a steak knife would be beneficial, not a butter knife! I'm sorry but for how much me and my aunt paid, the food should've been better. My aunt received a medium rare steak when she asked for medium, the server said she could take it back and get her a new one, then backed tracked and said she could fire it up again, guess what? That came out well done and tough. Most restaurants would take your plate back and give you the correct meal, I should know, I work for one too. Disappointed and will never be back.
Julez — Google review
We came expecting an established that served $40-50 steaks. We get better sevice at McDonald's. Ambiance: It felt as if the whole vibe was off when we walked in. A blonde lady behind the hostess was bickering and complaining. We made a reservation and they sat us at the worse spot, so that killed my mood. Food: The filet mignon ($48) we ordered was supposed to be medium. When brought out it was medium rare - so I told the server. She took it back and put it on the the broiler. It came back over cooked. She offered to get me a new one; I was confused as to why she didn't do this in the first place. When we got our ticket, she had put it in wrong. The steak was served with a butter knife and it was said it will be tender enough to use that. They're very confident as it was tough. The brushetta was a disgrace and the mashed potatoes seemed instant. Dress Code: There is no dress code and we felt over dressed. I'd expect if you plan to spend over $75/person, you would dress decent. Clientele: I do understand this is out of the resturants control, but people were staring the whole time. Maybe they were miserable like us, but it was akward. Summary: Terrible food, ambiance and service. Will never return to spend almost $200 for 2 people. Owners need to step it up.

Our first time to dine at this establishment the food and service was outstanding! Our second time to dine at this establishment while bringing other family members was below sub par to say the least. Our waitress has no earthly idea how to treat her customers with respect. Due to her snide remarks and rude nature, it has left us feeling a very deep regret of dining there this evening. To add insult to injury our food was cold from the appetizers to the main entree’s. I was extremely embarrassed to have brought family members with us. Thank you to the tall blonde waitress, we will not return!!

The food looked and tasted awesome! The ribeye and crème brûlée were great and the chocolate martini is sensational. It is a place for a nice dinner and special occasions. The steaks are butter knife tender and cooked in a refined manner, that said, I would've liked a little razzle dazzle with the seasoning to give it a bit more of a bold flavor. It was really good and works every time, and I'm not complaining, just suggesting they experiment with some options on the flavor profile. I really enjoy this place each time I go.

HAM BONZ Soul Food is a new soul food spot run by Marsha Jenkins-Sanders and John Sanders. The soft opening was a success, with standout dishes like baked chicken, meatloaf, and fantastic brown gravy. While the food is served quickly and the owners are friendly, some customers find the prices slightly high for meals with 2 or 3 sides. The atmosphere could use improvement due to its Spartan decor. Despite this, patrons appreciate the generous portions and tasty food.
This is a hidden gem for soul food. Our food took a bit longer to get but it was fresh! I had the pork chops and my fiancé had the fried chicken! Both were excellent and we even had to opportunity to meet one of the owners. 9 out of 10 for sure!

Went to this place yesterday to eat dinner with a friend. The Collard greens was the absolute best ever, the baked Mac n cheese was banging & the yams was on point! My friend had smothered pork chops & gravy over rice and just looking at that plate made my mouth water. The corn bread was perfect & buttery just like I like it. We washed our food down with kool-aid. Yes they had kool-aid. I wish they had Cherry kool-aid tho. For desert we had the mini lemon pound cake & the glaze was amazingly delicious. You get a lot of food for the price. We met the owner from Michigan her name was Marsha. Her & her family brought great hospitality & tasty food to Texas. Thank you Marsha!

It was so nice to come to a restaurant that tasted like the best home cooked soul food it ever had. Everything we tasted was delicious! I personally had the Braggin' rights baked chicken. The chicken was tender fall off the bone perfectly seasoned. Candied yams tasted like dessert and the green beans were delicious with shredded pork. Highly recommend this place!

When we arrived, the place was empty but it should be packed! This is the best food that we’ve eaten in Bastrop! Every bite was flavorful and perfectly cooked. We devoured each tasty bite of their smothered pork chops, baked chicken and meatloaf were evenly matched by the sides (all delicious) of collard greens, green beans, Mac n cheese, rice, smashed potatoes and corn bread (served with honey butter). You can’t go wrong ordering because every single bite of every single menu item was amazing. Not to mention the dessert cobbler. Four generations of family recipes preserved and served up fresh. We will definitely be back and telling all our friends.

WOW! This place is a hidden gem. The servers were so welcoming and truly made me feel right at home. The food was absolutely amazing! The BEST fried chicken I have ever had in my LIFE! The fried chicken was freshly fried and had such a flavorful, crispy, and airy bite to it. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. The Smothered poke chop was so tender and juicy, the meat was falling apart! Everything was just so good especially their Yams! We will definitely be going back! This place is a MUST try.

Moved from Austin and have been wanting to try this spot for a while and oh my goodness was the food delicious! The fried chicken, pork chops, yams, and corn bread(mo fos) were so good! It’s been hard to find good food in the area and this is definitely one of our favorite food spots here now!

Best dang food we’ve tasted in Bastrop Texas. It’s like eating a plate of soul food straight out of my mother’s kitchen… Our second time picking up Togo orders but we will make it a point to eat in for dinner soon. The music and atmosphere is very nice and chill.

Nestled in the heart of historic downtown Bastrop, Neighbor's Kitchen & Yard is a charming and inviting bar with a rustic vibe. Guests can also enjoy an inventive menu featuring unique twists on classic dishes such as pizza, calzones, soup, and salad.
In one word: Superb. We came here after numerous recommendations from locals and wow were they right. Everything was right up our alley. There was a wait of 40 minutes for a table for two on a busy Thursday evening around 7:00. We were able to order a drink and sit at the bar and the service we got was excellent from a young long man with blonde hair, I wish I knew his name so I could commend him on his friendly cheerful service. When it was time to be seated we almost stayed inside but the evening was beautiful so we went out to the patio to eat. They have a text system so we were notified by phone that our table was ready and we had 10 minutes to settle up and be seated, it was all very easy. Our waitress outside was Jackie and she was so fun, she made great recommendations, checked in with us numerous times and definitely added to the experience. The food was excellent, we had wings as an appetizer and they were great, it didn’t hurt that we were starving! I ordered a half Caesar and a figgy calzones. The salad was very good as was the calzone, I’ve never seen some of the combinations they have on their menu and I love that they are so adventurous. My husband had the meatball sandwich and he enjoyed it very much, the meatballs were perfectly cooked and not at all dry as meatballs typically are. The prices are surprisingly reasonable, we were very happy with the bill and had leftovers today! The atmosphere is fun with fiesta lights making for a great vibe. While this restaurant does have river views, most of the tables, including ours have no view. This deserves a visit and a five star rating. The restroom was clean and well stocked but tough for us tall gals, the door is so close that my knees almost touched it!

Great outdoor eatery with awesome riverside vibe. We were here for early dinner on a Sunday. We had hot lil honey and chicken pesto pizzas. Got personal size and was perfect. We didn’t drink but beer looked cold and cocktails looked fresh and delicious. Nice little stop on our way back to Houston.

We took a little day trip drive to Bastrop today and ate at Neighbor’s after visiting the bookstore on Main St. We came at around 11am on a Saturday, shortly after they opened and there were plenty of patio tables available. It did start to fill up as we ate, but even at noon, there were still open tables. They have tons of mister fans set up on the patios, so it was comfortable sitting outside. The pizzas were delicious! We also tried the homemade blueberry cobbler - it was very rich and yummy.

This is a great place for lunch. The atmosphere is great with a beautiful view of the Colorado River from the outdoor decks. The dough used for the pizza and pepperoni rolls is delicious and there is a nice variety of craft beers to go along with the meal. And of special note, Jaylen is an awesome server! She served a perfect order and checked in with us to make sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our meal. Additionally, she saw our dog was with us and prepared a water bowl without us asking. Thank you Jaylen!

I love being adventurous and visiting random places on roadtrips. Let me tell you this was one of the best places I have visit. The food and drinks were on point and so delicious. The pizza bread omg was on point! I would recommend this place to everyone I know! Worth the stop for sure.

Pizza was great but on the thin side. The wings although said to have habanero sauce were not spicy at all, but again very well cooked. My favorite was the meatballs. Perfect and moist with a nice marinara sauce. Excellent service. I can't wait to visit again and try the rest of the menu. Loved the margaritas and house salad too.

Awesome pizza. You can even buy an uncooked pizza to prepare at home on a later date. Everything is scratch made. Your fur babies are welcome.

We came here on a whim and the food didn't disappoint. We picked up 2 calzones (el Camino and the ground philly). Both did not disappoint and they were so fresh. You could tell it was hand breaded and the el Camino had a nice surprise of pepperoni wrapped around the crust. We will definitely keep this place on our list for the future.

We've lived in the Bastrop area over 5 years and only visited here once before for the live music. We decided to stop in for dinner this time. The vibe and location of this place automatically sets it up for success. At least, you would think. It began with men carrying large equipment through the dining room out to the patio for the live music. The equipment was carried over the head of more than one patron, which could have been catastrophic if even one part had fallen or slipped. It was also just unprofessional. We tried several mixed drinks, several appetizers, and several entrees. The Ribeye was cooked to perfection, and the sausage platter was delicious. That's about all that was good. The fried pickles were way more fry than pickle, the asparagus was way over cooked, the mashed potatoes looked and tasted like they were from a box, and one of the mixed drinks was so bad, we sent it back and asked for bottled beer. Our waitress was supporting both inside and outside, and even though the dining room was less than half full, we waited extended periods of time each time we needed something; culminating in about a 15 min wait for our check before we finally got up and asked if someone could find our server so we could leave. I was really hoping to like this place; we're always looking for a place to get a good drink and steak, but I guess we'll have to keep looking.

First time here. Excellent place to grab a beer on tap and enjoy some good food and company. The menu is heavy on green chili's, which I enjoyed thoroughly. Highly recommend the chili artichoke dip. So good. Good beer selection too. In addition to the 602 brand, they also carry several others on tap and bottle. Will definitely be back next time I'm rolling through Bastrop!

We were in town from Austin and we stopped in starving for dinner and desperate to find a place that would be friendly and accommodating towards my brother who has cerebral palsy and is in a wheelchair. 602 sat us right away at a table my brother could have his wheelchair at too. Natalie was our server and she provided the BEST experience for us! She was so helpful and accommodating and kind. She was kind to my brother and made sure he had everything he needed. The food was great too!

The new menu is amazing, especially Annie's Southwest Eggrolls. Ask about the daily special, they rotate some very tasty dishes. The bread pudding is a great way to end your meal. They also brew their own beer, which you don't want to miss out on. They make a killer old fashioned as well. Live music on Friday and Saturday nights. I highly recommend.

Fresh food - had the 602 burger with great fresh toppings and the Ruben which was crispy and buttery with tender corn beef. House fries were ok, found clumps of goodness but not consistent. Service was attentive and the atmosphere was relaxing with large enough room between tables you don't feel crowded.

This place is clearly the most popular eating establishment in the historic downtown, and I expected to be absolutely delighted. After being seated after about a half hour on a weekday, we waited another few minutes before the server came over. The food offerings are extensive, and we settled on Chicken and Waffles, Chicken and Dumplings, and sides of biscuits and fried okra. The food took awhile to get there, but we knew the kitchen was very busy. The chicken and waffles, the huge biscuits, and the fried okra were all very good, though the chicken was left in the fryer a bit longer than I prefer. The Chicken and Dumplings, on the other hand, I simply couldn’t eat. They were so heavily laden with herbs (parsley?) that my usual go-to comfort food was inedible. On the whole, it was a good experience, but now I know what not to order.

First time to visit & tour downtown historic Bastrop Texas — including our lunchtime stop here at Maxine’s Cafe. Amazing service — very personable & chatty server. Good selection of both breakfast & lunchtime entrees. I liked my Monte Cristo sandwich. My wife & mom split a massive planet-sized chicken fried steak smothered in gravy. Venue is appropriately situated in a historic building with original brick walls. Located on tourist friendly Main Street nestled among other shops.

Best chicken and waffles I've ever had !!!!!!!!!!!!! Yummy! Post trip edit: It took a little bit of time to get sat with a group of our size but both waitresses were very prompt with getting us taken care of! I wish I got the ladies names since they did such a great job! A read headed woman and a brunette. Both ladies were so friendly and made our visit even more enjoyable! The mimosas were PERFECT! I loved the mason jars for all our drinks too, I feel like it makes it taste better haha While the chicken and waffles are my personal highlight of the day, all the extra sides I got to taste were great! The biscuit was HUGE and made perfectly. Buttery and salty, dense but still very moist. Fried green tomatoes were delicious and so were the sweet potato fries! Our group will be coming back asap!!

I love to travel. Finding new places to eat is a big part of traveling for me. I particularly enjoy finding out of the way restaurants to try. Bastrop Texas is a very nice town kind of off the beaten path but real Texas. My traveling buddy and I decided to try Maxine's for a quick breakfast stop and we were not disappointed. The service was Texas friendly. It's my kind of place. Tidy, clean, comfy with plenty of Texas memorabilia on the wall. I ordered biscuits and gravy with home fries. I know, it's an easy to prepare meal but I have had bad versions so this was a pleasant surprise. Nice crispy potatoes and super tasty gravy on tender, fluffy biscuits. Just the kind of meal you would expect in Texas. Hearty and great tasting. Prices are very reasonable and like I said the service and atmosphere just what we were looking for in the great state of Texas. If you are hungry and in the area you should definitely give it a try.

Visited town and chose this place for the pies. The chocolate pie was barely chocolate flavored. And the waitress brought this piece of cheesecake and literally said, the center collapsed so this is the best I could do. That’s ok, right?” It was the first piece cut out of the cheescake in the display case, she couldn’t try again for a better slice? And then when I started to eat it I wondered if it was even set in the center, was it meant to be liquid? The outside rim was the only firm part. I just didn’t really know what I was eating. They refunded the chocolate pie. I don’t know if I was actually eating cheesecake or not, so didn’t want to complain. I was just surprised they didn’t care at all about presentation and plopped what looked like something scraped together at home as leftovers. Kid waitresses. All.

Sadly I don't have a pic of one of the best burgers I've ever eaten (w/ blue cheese & grilled onions) cooked to perfection. My daughters Reuben was also the bomb. As were the cheesecakes. Thank you Maxine's crew!!! Did get a pic of the half eaten choc covered strawberry cheesecake...mmm.

If I could give it more stars, I would. I was stuck in Bastrop longer than I expected, and decided to try this place on a whim. I was drawn in by how it looked—just like someone’s home—and I was pleasantly surprised to find the atmosphere just as warm and peaceful as it appeared. I would go there to do homework and eat dinner, and the waitresses were always so kind. The food was delicious—very Southern, very comforting—and the sweet tea was absolute perfection: not too sweet, not unsweetened, just right. To anyone who gets to experience that atmosphere: take a chance and people-watch. That little street is so quiet, green, and peaceful. This restaurant was one of the few places that truly made me feel homesick—in the best way. It reminded me of sitting on my mom’s front porch.

We found ourselves wandering the streets of Bastrop on Labor day and luckily came across Gracies. Ali took care of us like we were family and gave us all her top tier recommendations. We had the shrimp portofino and the rosemary peach chicken. I'm literally getting hungry writing this review. Everything was simply amazing. We started off with the fried okra, paced ourselves with the chicken and shrimp and a salad and sadly never made it to dessert. The mini-bakery alone is going to inspire me to intermittent fast the next time we come back. We also got to meet Emma who was super kind. Each person we encountered made sure we were taken care of and had all we needed. Why doesn't google let you leave 10 stars?

Base Camp Deli is a sandwich shop that takes their creations to the next level with an emphasis on fresh ingredients, bold flavors, and creativity. Customers are encouraged to trust the deli's own sandwich combinations, which are known for their decadent and unique flavors. The made-to-order brisket sandwich with options like French jus dip or cheese is a standout choice. Another masterpiece from the deli is the Cubano, praised for its extraordinary and powerful flavors.
They’ve done it again. I love this sandwich shop and already reviewed once. But then they created another amazing masterpiece, the Cubano. I sit here eating it feeling obligated to say how good it is. It’s so unique. The flavors are extraordinary and powerful. I normally want to substitute items on or off my sandwiches from most places but this place nails it every time. I just eat whatever they give me, like homemade pickles?! I’m not even sure these are pickles…they taste like Christmas in my mouth. Best sandwich shop in the Central Texas area.

I had the Italian sandwich and soup special (sausage, white bean and kale) which was Delicious. The perfect balance of meat, veggies and herb mayo. The bread is delicious and sourced locally. I never knew I would like olives until I had it in this sandwich. The owners are fairly new to town and are wonderful people who are very friendly. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, there is a nice outdoor area as well.

We had been working all day at a farmers market in Giddings and made it just at the cutoff time to Base Camp Deli on our way back home. We were treated with smiles from Clara and the option to have a made-to-order brisket sandwich either with a French jus dip or cheese. Also ordered a refreshing cucumber mint tea that I sipped while waiting for the order. We got one of each and it did not disappoint. I had the one with the French jus dip: tidy but decadent. Bread was toasted perfectly and the flavor bursted. They put a lot of care into their creation and you can taste it. Definitely check out this hidden gem.

Let me get to the point. I ordered the chicken pesto sandwich and was thinking it was probably a bad idea because chicken breast tends to be dry compared to other parts right. Not here buddy, that chicken was so moist, juicy and flavorful I couldn't believe it. I came back the next day and had to run it back. Probably the best chicken pesto sammy that I've ever had. Decent size, I was full and satisfied. I also had the Italian salad, it was good but the sandwich was the show stopper.

Awesome little spot tucked away right off the main highway into town. Staff was extremely friendly and helped us choose what to order, even though we showed up right before closing. Sandwiches were excellent, really hearty and plenty of meat. Would highly recommend!

As a small business owner on Main Street in Bastrop, I was delighted when Base Camp Deli opened. I eat there at least once a week. Their salads are always so fresh, and the homemade salad dressing is amazing. But be forewarned: if you get a regular sized salad, it's a LOT of food. My favorite is the Garden Salad with added Turkey - I can get 2 - 3 meals out of it, but a half salad is still plenty! As for sandwiches, I've had the Lippy (roast beef and horseradish sauce) and it is excellent. Most recently, I tried their Chicken Salad Sandwich and if you can fall in love with food, that's what happened. It's the most delicious chicken salad on the planet as far as I'm concerned (as long as you like pecans and celery in it, which I most assuredly do). As with the salads, the sandwiches are a generous size, so plan to share, save some for later, or bring a huge appetite. The owners are great folks as well, and I enjoy visiting with them when time permits. You know they're good because they are always busy!

Visited downtown Bastrop on April 12. We stopped for lunch at Base Camp Deli and I got the Turkey Reuben and my wife got the Turkey Havarti. Her Turkey Havarti sandwich was awesome but my Turkey Reuben was terrible. We sampled each other's sandwiches and we both agreed. Worth mentioning were the really tasty thick cut kettle cooked Deep River potato chips. The people were friendly and the service was good.

I went here for the first time today and it was wonderful! The food was so good! And the venue and outside seating is quaint and perfect. I had the Chicken Pesto Panini...it was SO YUMMY. My mother had the Turkey Havarti and she loved it! We ordered The Lippy to go and they brought it out to us as we were finishing eating our food. The man who ate this sandwich gobbled it up. The staff (owner?) was friendly, everything was great! Definitely will be back! :)

This is our go-to restaurant when we ladies get together to go to the Bastrop Opera House for the plays. OT became a staple for us during covid. They served covid family meals to go. Now we're regulars and they've just been better and better. I had fried shrimp to go tonight and it was better than anyone in town - and probably better than anything I've had on my recent coastal travels around a decently diverse swath of the world. The Bar staff is top shelf tops and the food is always reliable. Must stop in at the bare mims.

We stumbled into this gem hungry and left absolutely stuffed and happy. The food? Chef’s kiss. We devoured a perfectly cooked steak dinner, a hand-battered chicken fried steak that could win awards, and a black and blue steak salad that did not skimp on the steak (bless them for that). It’s honestly been ages since we’ve found a place that gets steaks right the first time — no awkward trips back to the kitchen needed. The prices were the cherry on top: fair, reasonable, and didn’t make us want to cry when the check came. If you want great food without draining your bank account, this Old Town Restaurant is your place. We’re already planning our next visit — our taste buds demand it!

old town is a great bar and grill. lots of tvs, big bar area, plenty of tables, and a nice atmosphere to relax. the service is typically always friendly, the food is a step above your normal bar food, and the drinks are affordable. a go to if you need a cold one and some wings!

Love the owners Mr and Mrs. Gannon are the best. Very polite. Love both locations Old Town and Piney Creek. Sonia the server /and or waitress was awesome. 10 out of 10 hands down best in Bastrop. Fresh strawberry and red , white and blue salads are to die for. Very fresh and all dressings are homemade.

I’ve lived in central Texas all my life, but I’d never taken the time to explore downtown Bastrop. I was completely charmed, and historic places like Old Town are a big reason why. This place reminds me of a saloon from the Old West, except that the beer is really good! Friendly barkeeps, lots of regulars, great atmosphere. If I lived closer, I’d be here often.

My husband had the NY Strip steak. That is normally not his go to. He was amazed with the flavor. Loved the crispy crust.

We stopped here to eat lunch after visiting Ryan Holliday's bookstore down the street. The outside of the place gives the impression that it's an old home-style eatery, but inside it has a sports bar atmosphere. The food was good and the server was decent. It may be worth a visit for the food if you don't mind a sports bar vibe.

Mexican restaurant
Anita's Mexican Restaurant offers a wide range of Mexican cuisine, served in a charming building with tall ceilings and brick walls. While opinions on the overall experience vary, the establishment consistently impresses with its homemade tortillas and delicious breakfast tacos. Fajitas are highly recommended, although the 'top shelf' margaritas may not be to everyone's taste due to their weak and overly sweet flavor. However, excellent service and high-quality food compensates for any shortcomings.
Tortillas are delicious and made in the restaurant daily food was served hot and the service was great! Menudo had lots of flavor, machacado, barbacoa and pancakes were great. Definitely will return for breakfast again!

Ordered a medium rare steak and I got well done. I usually don't return food, even if it's wrong, but this was so dry and so wrong. A server kindly took it back and brought me another steak. This time the steak looked a little bigger, so not sure what size I was supposed to get... When I sliced into it, it was completely raw and barely cooked on the outside. I took a bite and it was COLD. I had enough of messed of food and did not want to complain again so I just took the steak home to cook it myself later. Which still didn't taste good. It had a weird flavor. I heard so many good things about this place and wanted to enjoy it, but I will not be returning. Our server rarely checked on us, too. 2 stars because another server tried to help.

Great food. Really liked the Chili Relleno. My sister had a combo plate with an enchilada & carne guisado. She wished she had gotten the tomatillo sauce, but otherwise it was good. Margaritas were very good.

The food was great! The corn and flour tortillas were homemade and the food was made fresh. There was a bit of a wait for the food but with good reason. Our waitress didn't come and check on us like the other waitresses. Overall the food was great and the restaurant was very clean.

Living in MO now it’s been several years since being in Bastrop area where I used to live. Anita’s was a must while passing through the area recently. The migas and salsa are still the best you’ll find anywhere! Enjoyed eating there once more.

Nestled in the heart of Bastrop, Coffee Dog has been a beloved breakfast destination for over fifteen years. This charming coffee shop is renowned for its house-roasted espresso and an array of delightful breakfast options, including freshly baked pastries from their in-house bakery. From scones to quiches, everything is made from scratch, ensuring a delicious start to your day.
Welcoming coffee house with baked goods, a food menu, and friendly staff. They have several tables and booths, a tiny shop, and a large free parking lot they share with adjoining businesses. It's located in a shopping center just west of downtown between it and the freeway.

Visited on a weekday after the lunch rush. It wasn’t that busy (maybe 2 people ahead of us). I was excited about trying out a local coffee roaster but the excitement went downhill pretty quickly. It took about 3-5 minutes to order while we waited for someone. And then after we ordered, there was a good 5 minutes of absolutely no one doing anything coffee-related . The employees were either in the back or at the register. There was a lady in front of us who ordered but didn’t even get her food until after we left! It was a poorly run coffee house with potential. The coffee was average. I won’t be coming back.

coffee dog is a solid little coffee shop in bastrop that has a convenient drive through. i have always had nice experiences when i have come. staff is friendly, the food is good with generous portions. i think my only critique is the atmosphere can be a little frantic with a lot of noise.

The service here needs improvement. My overall experience was unpleasant and disappointing. The screenshot I attached to this review shows another review that is interaction between a customer and the owner of this business. I think the owners response to the review should tell you all you need to know about this place. I visited last week with my wife. We did not feel welcomed, it was pretty slow, 1 person ahead of us and for some reason it took us 15 minutes to get 2 coffee’s (medium latte, large cold brew) There were 3 employees. 2 at the counter and 1 at the window. I’ve worked in several service industry positions. Including a coffee shops and the service we got at this place is unacceptable. I just politely ask to consider this feedback and take a look at how y’all could be doing things better. The coffee was great. I would choose this place over Starbucks. But I will not be returning here anytime soon. I just hope nobody has the unfriendly and poor service my wife and I received. I sincerely hope there is improvement in how this business operates.

Very down to earth atmosphere very friendly. The food was excellent and the portions were very generous! I would eat here regularly if I lived in the area. Definitely going to eat here when I pass through here next time. Also the iced coffee was 👌 perfect.

Great prices, but you get what you pay for. Cons: Ordered a burrito, they were out of egg & sausage, didn’t even bother rolling it up. Ordered to a kolache, those were discontinued (but still on the menu). Long wait & the staff seemed irritated we were there. Pros: Cheap Chai was good Coffee was hot

I really wanted to love this coffee shop. The atmosphere is definitely five stars and it’s a nice place to sit and chat. The design and decorations of the place are really done well. The coffee wasn’t very good and I got a salad where part of it was rotten. I mentioned it to the staff to let them know not to serve that ingredient and wasn’t offered anything to replace it. It’s still a great place to go, meet someone or get some work done but don’t expect much from the food or coffee. This is based on one meal so maybe they had an off day.

Distillery
Food & Drink
Copper Shot Distillery is an ideal spot for group gatherings, offering a weekend filled with laughter, cherished moments, delightful beverages, and tobacco products. The owner, Stephen, provides an exclusive tour of the distillery along with a historical account of the establishment. While enjoying their intricately crafted cocktails like the old fashioned and The Godfather, patrons are particularly captivated by the delectable pecan shine in the latter. Additionally, visitors can revel in live performances by talented bands during nighttime.
Whiskey. Cigar Lounge. Live Music. Spent an afternoon strolling Bastrop’s Main St. Great bookstore, amazing restaurant, and local shops. The Copper Shot was the cherry on top. Staff were more than friendly and knowledgeable in their respective crafts of spirits and cigars. Started off with a memorable Texas Honey Whiskey Old Fashion while lounging on rocking chairs in the patio. Then moved on into the cigar lounge area (indoor and outdoor) where the bartenders paired a tasty whiskey concoction with the perfect cigar. There’s great live music that can be enjoyed from the cigar lounge and the Copper Shot patio. Shout out to Bill. His professionalism and hospitality added to an already enjoyable and excellent experience.

Just okay, the drinks are overpriced and the staff can barely be bothered to serve us let along engage. The atmosphere is nice and the band was setting up as we were leaving.

Elaborately decorated bar serving cocktails and shots built around the distillery's line of liquors, including whiskey, room, vodka, and moonshine. The great bartender was welcoming and helpful. We enjoyed a flight of flavored juices with moonshine and entertained ourselves with the wood and metal puzzles at the bar. Next we tried some of their wonderful cocktails, including a honey mule and frozen blackberry margarita. They also seek full bottles of their liquors. They have several tables inside and a covered patio out back with more tables and chairs.

Just a chilled and out of the norm spot you can't go wrong here ...relaxing dog friendly and a constant staff makes me want too move closer....My favorite bar in Texas ..

Copper Shot Distillery is one of the most unique and inviting bars in Bastrop, located just east of Austin. Among its many standout features is the customizable Bloody Mary bar, where guests can enhance their cocktails with a wide array of garnishes—ranging from pickled vegetables to olives and an impressive lineup of hot sauces. Although the Bloody Mary isn’t always listed on the printed menu, ask for their “Bastrop Bloody”—a house-made cocktail crafted with their signature Sweet Potato Shine, Zing Zang® mix, Worcestershire, and a special garlic kick. Once you order, you’re free to personalize it using the garnish station tucked in the corner. Beyond cocktails, Copper Shot also distills a range of flavored whiskeys using a fusion process—where ingredients like fruit, herbs, or spices are soaked directly in the finished spirit to infuse flavor. This method contrasts with adding ingredients during fermentation or distillation, which is generally discouraged—especially with delicate fruits like strawberries. The high heat of distillation destroys subtle berry aromas, and strawberries introduce wild yeasts and excess sugar that complicate the process. Instead, post-distillation infusion is the preferred technique. Two common methods are: Maceration: Slice fresh strawberries and soak them in whiskey for several days in a sealed jar, then strain. Sweetened infusion: Add a bit of simple syrup to round out the flavor and reduce tartness. Copper Shot Distillery embraces this approach, offering bold and nuanced flavors in a relaxed, rustic setting.

I received fantastic service and absolutely delicious cocktails. The Bloody Mary was to die for! I tried a variety of different liquors. Also if you bring empty bottles back in they'll give you $10 off on refills. The distillery itself is gorgeous. Spacious with rustic views. Also the humidor area had a HUGE selection of cigars and other tobacco products. This is my new home away from home. I love this place and can't wait to come back!

Really cool bar. I'm not 21 so I can't confirm how good the drinks are however I did try the hot chocolate and it is very good. Tasted like real chocolate. I came here to see my friends concert and it's a great venue for listening to music. They have an open patio and some seats to sit outside. Nice stylized bar that seems like something from an old west town. Would come back especially for another concert

An Absolute Must-Visit if you're in Bastrop! Copper Shot is a charming little distillery on the edge of downtown serving moonshine, vodka and whiskey- as well as mixed drinks. We live in Dallas but checked this place out on one of our planning trips for our wedding and absolutely loved it. I had a few mixed drinks and a flight of moonshine. They even have a cigar area and live music on the weekends! Our first time here, we loved meeting the owner and just chatting with other guests on the patio. Fast forward a year to our wedding weekend: I wanted to make sure our guests checked this place out, but it wasn't big enough for any of the formal events (our rehearsal dinner was 70 people, for reference). I made the impromptu decision on Thursday to tell anyone who was in town to meet at Copper Shot around 4:30 Friday for a drink before rehearsal dinner. It was absolutely perfect. Our friends and families mingled, tried new drinks, and enjoyed the setting. Several folks signed the tables to remember our wedding weekend. I had a few whiskey-amaretto sours, which were delicious. Everyone commented on what a cool place it was, and plenty more of our guests checked it out on their own time. The only drawback is that, typical of a small town, they close early. If you want to party until 2am, you'll have to move locations. My husband and I just fell in love with this town during the planning, and even more so during the week of our wedding. I can't imagine coming back to Bastrop without stopping at Copper Shot.

Bastrop River Company

Canoe & kayak rental service

Bastrop River Company offers tube rentals and tours for a worry-free water experience, with float times ranging from 1 to 2 hours. The Colorado River kayaking trip is described as serene and picturesque. Customers have praised the friendly staff, well-maintained equipment, and the beautiful river for a relaxing day out. Visitors are encouraged to bring their families along for an enjoyable time on the water.
We learned about this in the Bastrop edition of Community Impact! We first read reviews online and we were looking for a beginner’s paddle trail in Central Texas where we could rent kayaks for those in our group who didn’t have them. The process was super quick and easy. The kayaks and canoes were great and in good shape. Our beginners felt super safe and comfortable. The paddle trail was fun, beautiful and private. We did not see any other kayakers even on a Saturday! We did pass a few fishermen on shore. The water was murky from rains earlier in the week so we didn’t really swim. We loved how untouched most of the land was along the trail. There were a few mild currents to keep us moving along easily. The trail took us about 4 hours but we took it easy. Definitely recommend!!!! Bailey provided excellent customer service and made sure we had fun.

Absolutely LOVED my time here at Bastrop River Company! I was on a solo birthday getaway and looking for peaceful things to do in Bastrop, TX, but I wasn’t sure about kayaking—especially with how fast the Colorado River was moving and the fact that I hadn’t kayaked in nearly 10 years. Mia made everything so easy! She was super knowledgeable and patient, helping me choose the right kayak rental, explaining what to expect, how far to paddle, what to avoid, and even which days are best for calmer water. She also offered helpful tips on fishing on the Colorado River, which was a bonus! Mr. Lee and Morgan were also kind and welcoming. Morgan even helped me get my kayak off the dock safely, which I really appreciated. As a solo traveler this time and reformed paddler, I felt completely taken care of. The riverfront was clean, quiet, and beautiful—no trash, no crowds. You can tell the whole team cares deeply about nature, safety, and making the experience enjoyable for everyone. Whether you’re a first-time kayaker, solo traveler, or planning a family-friendly outdoor adventure, I highly recommend this spot. I can’t wait to bring my kids back here so they can experience the same kind of joy, peace, and fun I did. It’s truly one of the best hidden gems in Central Texas!

Ok... so everyone goes to Austin for kayaking..., great. The water is calm but this is more nature and way less crowded which is great. (We were literally the only ones kayaking). You have to be cautious and be aware of your surroundings. If you want the peace and calmness and not all the tourism like Austin, this is the place to go.

Nice boat rental place in the park. Easy access, good equipment, reasonable prices. They have regular shuttle service. They will also shuttle you for a fee if you use your own boats. Excellent ramp access.

Came down on a cloudy Friday morning and we had no issues renting 3 kayaks right away. The staff is super friendly and professional (Morgan and Bailey). First time kayaking a river with currents and one of the currents took us straight into some low hanging trees. The tree stole a paddle and tipped a kayak over. So, be cautious they come up fast. We would definitely come back in the future. It is a 3 to 4 hour row, so prep for that. Don’t bring anything on the River you don’t want to loose. Lost some Oakleys sadly.

Great day kayaking the Colorado River. Couldn’t ask for a better day. The staff at Bastrop River Company were friendly and helpful. One of the best parts was the picked up service. You call them at a specific location and they are waiting at the rivers edge to take you back to your vehicle.

Nestled in the heart of downtown Bastrop, Store House Market & Eatery is a culinary gem that beautifully marries contemporary cuisine with local flavors. Helmed by Chef Sonya Cote and her husband David Barrow, this charming eatery showcases dishes crafted from fresh ingredients sourced primarily from their own Eden East Farm and other nearby producers.
Sonya has truly created a fantastic experience with this restaurant! The atmosphere is both charming and lively, striking the perfect balance to make guests feel at home. The staff is exceptional—attentive, friendly, and easy-going, which enhances the overall experience. The food and drinks are absolutely delicious, with flavors that pair beautifully. My husband and I fell in love with this place a few years ago. The farm to table concept makes it a special gem. Being able to eat food that is fresh and cared for properly is unparalleled. For brunch: we love the burger and black garlic fries. For dinner: we come here usually for the seafood tower. And we get the fries again. It feels like every time we come, the menu is slightly changed, and more so when the seasons turn over. The food is balanced and well seasoned. Many of their items carry a good amount of spice to them, which we love. And I don’t think I’ve ever had pickled veggies as good at Store Houses. The vibe and service: it’s definitely upscale but with an approachable and relaxed feeling. Eating Al Fresco in such a beautiful town, what more could you ask for?

This place is a farm to table restaurant. I happen to stop in during happy hour and got a half priced bramble. It was very good and hit the spot on a hot day. The grass fed burger was excellent and the fries were hot and house made. Everything I put into you could taste the local freshness. Doesn’t look like you can go wrong here on what you get. When I was there August 2025 they were about to drop a new menu. They also have wine and desserts that all sounded really good. The staff all seemed upbeat, nice, and ready to serve you. They have a nice outdoor space and have a lot of seating inside. The prices are higher than what you probably would normally pay but it’s quality over quality here and it’s worth it.

Is this Bastrop’s secret gourmet experience? Brunch ambience was remarkable, service was exceptional. Loved the friendliness of Matt and Joyce, thank you for sharing so much about Bastrop! The decor of both the dining space and bar are hip yet country quaint. This place marries it all on top of exceptional fare. Pizza delivery
Pizza Hut is a popular chain that offers delivery, carry-out, and dine-in options. It is well-known for its pizza, wings, and pasta dishes, as well as a variety of sides and desserts. While some may not be avid fans of Pizza Hut, one can't deny the professionalism displayed by the manager at this particular location. She provided detailed information about their new creation - a unique pizza pocket made with thin crust instead of traditional calzone dough.
Always wondered if this was an old school buffet locations when i drive by. Finally came inside to find out and sure enough it is! Been here for 70 years, one of the originals! (Buffet was taken away bc COVID) When we came to try the dine in, our server Kristina had such amazing energy from first greeting us 😊 She was so friendly and talked to us about the menu, daily deals and history. She was so generous and gave us free breadsticks. I love her service. The food was made fresh and we loved the dine-in experience. Will definitely be back! Thank you Kristina ❤️

Excellent service from start to finish! The pizza came out hot and fresh, loaded with flavor, and the Italian salad was crisp, zesty, and super fresh. The portions are HUGE—you definitely won’t leave hungry. Big shout-out to Christina and Brandy for taking such great care of us and making the experience even better. Can’t wait to come back!

This locations dine-in is the BEST! We come to Bastrop to camp some weekends, but we always head out on Sunday so we can stop by this location to see Kristina! Let me tell yall something… If you haven’t had the pleasure of having her as your personal concierge through your menu navigation, your superstar of specials suggestions and your overall dine-in diva, you’re missing out COMPLETELY! We LOVE us some stuffed crust, but the Melts are to die for. Cannot recommend enough. The food and friendly faces are fantastic. Keep it up. We’ll be back soon. ✨🍕🏆 PS - Kristina’s robust knowledge of the entire business is extremely impressive. Go girl!

Ordered 1 large stuffed crust with extra cheese and half bacon/mushroom. Also ordered 12 traditional mild Buffalo Wings (with a cup of the blue cheese) and 1 order of Roasted Garlic Cheese sticks. The pizza tasted freezer burnt, but it was stuffed with cheese in the crust. However, the rest of the pizza tasted like thin cardboard. There was a pool of oil and sauce on the cheese sticks. The wings were bland, and several must have come from baby chickens as small as they were. We also were shorted the blue cheese dip. Just didn't seem like anyone cared at all when preparing the order. All this for $56!!!!!! We won't be back despite being less than a mile away. Update : We ordered again after being credited almost $50. There is no need for another review as this location is very bad at making pizza taste any good or filling order correctly. Overcharged us despite being deals for the exact coupon we provided.

I have not eaten at Pizza Hut since COVID. I heard their dine in was back open. It is a nostalgic restaurant in our town and I want to see it remain. A few coworkers and I went. The manager was kind and very attentive. The food was good and affordable. I miss the trade mark red and chandeliers, but it was clean.
Sammi O — Google review
I order pizza online while on break so I could get a discount and not have a long wait for the order. I was told because I ordered the pizza online I can’t eat it inside!! They did not have any customers in the restaurant. Also this is a pizza restaurant and they don’t have the packets of parmesan cheese or the red peppers, I was told that I would have to buy one of their containers of it. That is why I rated them 1 star and I would not recommend them.

Ordered a medium pepperoni and two different pastas. One of the pastas had a hair baked into it. They didn’t charge me for it, at least. The breadsticks were crispy and not ideal. The pizza either had no sauce or too much sauce. Not great.

Called to order a pizza and was put on hold for several minuets then the phone was picked up and the receiver put down (hung up). This happened the 4 times I called. On one of the calls I did manage to hear a female talking to someone. On the fifth attempt I was able to place my order and was told my order would be ready in 15 minutes. When I arrived my order was not ready and was told it would be 15 to 20 minutes for my order. I asked the shift manager what happened and she responded by saying that the call center did not process the order fully. As I was speaking with her I recognized the voice as the person who hing up on me. I cancelled my order and ask the shift supervisor as to whom I could file a complaint with, her response was call the call center. I then called the same number where I placed my order which is the store number. I called 5 times each time I was placed on hold for over 5 minutes and then cut off. When I was finally was able to make contact with the number called I spoke to a young lady who I believe was trying not to laugh as I was talking. I believe that store manager was involved with this call.

Tried about 5 different flavors of cupcakes. All were very good. The strawberry being the best. You can tell they are made with love. Great for a sweet tooth!

I ordered mini cupcakes to try them out, and I rated each flavor on a scale of 1 to 5 for your reference: - Red Velvet: 4 - Wedding: 3 - Strawberry: 4 - Chocolate: 5 - Oreo: 5 - Snickerdoodle: 5 I also tried leche cakes and cheesecake, which I rated as follows: - Leche Cakes: 2 - Cheesecake: 3 I will definitely come back to order more when I visit this town again.

Absolutely love love simply sweet cupcakes! Ordered 48 cupcakes for my daughter’s birthday and it was not only delicious. But also very very cute ! Cakes could never. I’m only ever getting our family’s treats from simply sweet cupcakes.
Genesis Z — Google review
We love Simply Sweet, especially after they worked with our budget to provide an assortment of flavors at our wedding (roughly 50 people). My personal favorite flavor was the hummingbird but they were all magnificent. These guys are the definition of Mom and Pop when it comes to cupcake bakeries. I adore them and their whole vibe. If you're ever in Bastrop, please stop in and buy a cupcake. You won't be disappointed. They also regularly have gluten free flavors, which we needed for a few guests.
Rachel E — Google review
Love love love that they offer mini options of almost all the available flavors. The minis are a perfect size to get a taste for a great price. I got the triple berry mini, which was fresh, moist, and perfectly naturally sweet (without tasting sugary and without the frosting having the texture or consistency of granulated sugar). I also got a pecan pie cupcake (regular sized) to-go and enjoyed it immensely. It was a great texture, flavor, and size. Can’t wait to stop by for another cupcake soon - maybe I’ll get the flavor of the day next time!

Goodness Gracious! These are phenomenal cupcakes. And fresh baked from scratch!First time there, as just moved here. Bought dozen of mini cupcakes for Mothers Day. Very friendly and inviting. Will be back to get more on special occasions and just cause. Update: Ordered the gluten free carrot cupcakes for my Mom's bday. THEY ARE PHENOMAL!!!!!!🎂🍰. EVERYONE LOVED THEM!

If this isn’t the cutest charming locally owns spot. I got a sprinkle cookie that was buttery deliciousness. And the gingerbread latte was pretty darn good. It was a full menu with lighter bistro type items and ice cream. There are cute items to buy. I wish I had more time I would have stayed longer.
Danielle G — Google review
The history and charm of this shop immediately caught our attention and drew us in. The original furniture pieces add such a warm and nostalgic touch to the overall aesthetic, and the staff couldn’t have been friendlier. The only letdown was finding out that the ice cream isn’t homemade or unique to the shop—it’s just Blue Bell. Now, as a lifelong Blue Bell fan, I’ll never turn it down, but with a place that has so much originality and character, we were hoping for a menu that reflected that same spirit. Still, it’s a cute spot and worth a visit for the atmosphere alone.
Jessika C — Google review
Stopped in for some coffee and a sweet treat. The hot latte with house made lavender syrup was really good. And the chocolate chip cookie hit the spot. They also have ice cream and other treats.
Ethan — Google review
My wife and I got a strawberry lemon bar, a raspberry oatmeal bar, and a strawberry matcha latte. None of them were very good to be honest, but the staff was super friendly and helpful and the store has an old fashioned charm to it. The cookies, ice cream, and coffee all looked really good, so if we go back that is what I will get. It seems like they normally have old fashioned root beer that is made from a syrup mix, but their machine was broken when we visited. Something else to try next time!
Alex H — Google review
Great spot to grab a meal or treat. We love that they have vegan options as well as Blue Bell.
Suzy D — Google review
We stopped here on our way back home in Austin from the Shiner brewery. It was a nice find. I enjoyed a delicious caramel latte served in a big French cafe au lait breakfast mug and an enormous hot while cinnamon roll covered with butter sauce while my wife had an iced tea and a large pumpkin bread scone also covered in a hot butter sauce. Our drinks and cakes were delicious. Our afternoon repast cost a very reasonable $22.21.

Bar
Bastrop Beer Company in Bastrop, Texas is a beloved spot for beer enthusiasts and casual drinkers. The bar offers an extensive selection of over 100 craft beers, making it a top destination for those looking to sample various brews. While the establishment doesn't have a full kitchen, they do offer large pretzels and free popcorn to accompany your drinks. Additionally, visitors can enjoy arcade games, pool tables, darts, corn hole, and trivia on TV.
Fantastic place to sample innumerable beers! They have a ton of beers on tap as well as an insane number in cans/bottles. While they don't have a full kitchen on location, they do offer large pretzels to purchase and free popcorn! If you want to do more than sip beer, they also have plenty of arcade games, pool tables, darts, corn hole, and trivia on TV. Of course, if none of that interests you, they also have some amazing staff to visit with (We spent a good amount of time on our visit speaking with Josh, who you should definitely visit with and get his life story!). Will definitely be going back and closing it down next time we visit Bastrop!

Great local bar. Love how friendly everyone usually is here. Great that you can bring your own food if you want. They host bingo and other community activities sometimes. Also kid friendly. Laid back place.
Alexus H — Google review
New place that just sells beer, lots and lots of different kinds of beer. The atmosphere is nice, cool signs, old pinball machines and guitars on the wall you can take down and play. The leather couches and chairs and GREAT air conditioning make this a nice spot on a hot day. If you are looking for food, this place has NO kitchen, so don't get mad.
Mullexwing — Google review
One of the best places in town. Incredible selection of premium and common beers. From Miller Lite to big complex stouts, has a beer for everyone. Come as you are and be helped by the wonderful Julianna and Adrianna.
Johan M — Google review
Can't rate the food because we didn't eat... the beer selection was off the rails... every imaginable kind/brand/flavor/type of beer you've ever heard of or thought of - they have it...pinball, video arcade, 2 nice looking pool tables...
Jack J — Google review
This is a very chill and laid back bar. They have a great selection of beer and wine. I suggest asking to sample their different beers to see which one is your favorite. They also have sake and champagne cocktails. There is a case full of canned beer and other drinks that you can take on the go and walk around downtown.
Jerrica S — Google review
Huge selection of different beers and great atmosphere. Their decor is pretty neat. They have bingo, trivia night and old pinball machines. The bartender told me you can bring outside food and they are pet friendly. Can't wait to go back.

It offers various amenities such as a playground, nature trails, river overlooks, and a pier for fishing. The park also features sports facilities and a disc golf course. Great park, well maintained with a fun Disc Golf course

I really love what they've done with the park. I used to walk my dogs there.Six years ago and this was the first time i've been back. They've got beautiful gardens and even a community garden and great playing fields for different sports. The community house with the picnic tables was perfect for a scout meeting.
Jul N — Google review
I went to go and play the new Disc golf course.. It is a very nice course....The front 9 is very open and Birdie friendly. The back 9 does challenges you...as you go into the woods and tighter fairways. Look forward to playing it again.
Chris V — Google review
I am a big fan of Fisherman's Park but Bob Bryant is definitely a Hidden Gem. It is tucked away behind a little suburban community in Bastrop, has a big Park and playground, a trail down to the water so it isn't for swimming at this part of the river, it is still very pretty. They have a walking path which is very neat and well kept. And for anyone who plays Pokemon go there is a Pokemon gym there as well. It is super kid friendly and there are frequent Patrol so it's a very safe Park.
Hannah J — Google review
It is a good park for soccer games. The only thing is that there is not enough parking space.
Sara B — Google review
Great park for kids. The playground is covered. There is a walking path around the park. Covered picnic tables also!

Lake Bastrop South Shore Park

State park
Lake Bastrop South Shore Park is a 900-acre park offering a variety of outdoor activities. It features a hiking and biking trail, swimming areas, fishing pier, public boat ramp, and canoe rentals. The park provides 18 mini-cabins with heating/air conditioning and waterfront, full hookup, and primitive campsites. Additionally, there's a 9-hole mini-golf course for some lighthearted fun.
I threw a really large family gathering at South Shore this past weekend. I rented out Osprey Point Hall and all 6 cabins near it. I hosted around 80 people. The venue was perfect and refined. The cabins were newly refurbished with AC and new appliances. And the staff was so friendly and accommodating. Especially Raul (Sp?). The staff was dealing with the stress of a county burn ban - and I can't imagine how much they had to apologize for something that was entirely NOT their fault. Absolute soldiers. Our park hosts (Roger and Karen) were helpful, warm, and timely with the hall opening/walkthrough. Best park hosts we've ever dealt with. We camp at South Shore often, but this was beyond perfection.

A fellow friend and I spent two nights three days there. We felt save and had so much privacy. The lake was amazing for paddle boarding. Hagan at check in was very friendly, not in a she had to be way but genuine. We will be returning.
Amber T — Google review
Our favorite camping spot near Austin. Dog friendly even in some of the cabins and plenty of little trails for us to enjoy. Lots of stuff for kids to do like mini golf, swim, kayak, or paddle board. Very clean bathrooms and maintained sites unlike the state park across. This place is private and costs a little more, but it's worth it. $35 for camping. $75 for basic cabins, or $125 for the deluxe cabins that come with everything you'd get at a cheap motel. Lots of birds around. They even gave a bird viewing center. Love it here during the weekdays because it's pretty empty. Fills up as the week goes so I like to arrive Sunday when everyone just left.
Roy R — Google review
The area: chef's kiss, The park: chef's kiss, the park personnel: chef's kiss, the Cabin: the kind of thing your Mama threatened you with when she said,"all I HAVE to do is pay for 4 walls and a roof!" And the mattress,Lord the mattress! Straight up out the penitentiary. We were told there was a mini fridge and small appliances. Nope! If you spend $120 or more, but that's not what the site says. I'm writing this review from the car, at 4 am, because I can't sleep another minute on that thing, feeling the wooden slats under my back/hips. We rented 2 cabins. We can't even use the toilets or shower because bugs, and I mean 100s are everywhere in the bathroom. So, 5 gallon buckets is what we're reduced to. I swear, I could have rented a nice hotel that actually had sheets and pillows for the cost of this and just drove over here.... Ridiculous!
Tonya P — Google review
South shore paid park. Well maintained. Less crowded compared to north shore. Many lake front cabins for rental. Day use facilities nit as good as North Ahore
Pog E — Google review
Not good for bank fishing, fishing piers could be updated and expanded. Water was very warm. Talking with other fishermen, it’s a great place if one has a boat to access the lake.
Cody C — Google review
The new park host at south shore is more like the park nazi... Very rude and self entitled.. You'd think he owned the park. His demeanor is all wrong for dealing with the laid back lake goers. I've been coming to this lake my entire life and never had an issue. This review is ONLY A REFLECTION ON THE SOUTH SHORE HOST. 👎👎👎

Beautiful lake. Very peaceful. Love the trails, they are nicely shaded in the trees. Nice picnic areas.

The cozy ambiance adds to the charm as you savor their freshly baked creations and enjoy delicious breakfast sandwiches and lunch offerings. Visitors praise the amazing food and service, recommending it for those seeking home-cooked meals with a southern comfort twist.
It's one of the best restaurants I've tried in Bastrop. Loved the outdoor seating, the women at the counter was very friendly, and the food was delicious. Highly recommend the brunch menu. The spiced pumpkin bread was the best I've had. Biscuits and gravy are a must, it has a really nice spice. The croissants are light and so good. The pretzels are also super light, try both the cinnamon sugar and salted, you won't regret it. My stomach is growling while writing this review. Only one con-No ice machine or fresh drinks, everything is bottled. They do have water available, which is nice.

This place is extremely cute delicious clean and country. The baked goods looked amazing we ate breakfast. The biscuits were soft and a nice crunch on the crust with a butter flavor and were quality. The eggs were creamy soft buttery and perfect. The sausage gravy had tons of sausage pepper flavor that made me crave more! Will be back ASAP!!! Also the breakfast potatoes were seasoned well soft inside nice roasted crunch outside. The air conditioning was perfect for a hot Sunday! Coffee good and strong as well. Thank you!

if you’ve driven down the main street of bastrop and somehow haven’t stopped into bearded baking company, do yourself a favor and change that! this place is a gem! nice atmosphere, clean, friendly staff, and best of all, the food! the baked goods are excellent, and the biscuit i had was one of the best i have had!

Had a biscuit platter with hot, glossy scrambled eggs, two giant biscuits, sausage gravy, fresh tomato and bacon. There was also butter and cinnamon jam for the biscuits. Everything was perfectly prepared and delicious. I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to biscuits and gravy. Too many places have bland gravy, but not these guys! I'll be back for sure.
Darin D — Google review
We walked in this place and was kind of thinking it was JUST a bakery... I was wrong it has amazing sandwiches, and more. Their pimento grilled cheese with bacon was outstanding! Chicken salad sandwich was to die for..... Iced coffee cookies everything here was on point super friendly staff, space is clean rustic, perfect for Texas... The best part is how incredibly friendly everybody is. I watched at least four couples and between 5 and 10 singles walk in and out and every single one left with a smile or laughing... Prices are amazing, The owners were amazing and checked in on us...if you can stop here, you should. The chicken biscuits are to die for!

Simply amazing. They’re a ghost kitchen right now, but if you can, I highly recommend stopping by the community area and ordering your breakfast on their website. For 2/3 people, we had our order out in 15-20 minutes, and it continues to be the best breakfast I’ve ever had in the Austin area!!! The sausage bacon gravy and biscuits are to die for, the ham they use is to die for (and I hate ham, by the way), and their cookies!!! These folks are doing it, and they’re doing it right!! Give them your business!!! I’m updating my review 2024!!! They’ve moved to a brick and mortar place in Bastrop but the food is ever so good!!! The ham and cheese croissant is exactly the same, and the hot honey fried chicken thigh sandwich is to die for!!! You guys definitely need to get out there and give these guys your business!!!
Jay D — Google review
Oh man this place is amazing! Coming into the historic downtown Bastrop is always a treat! The Bearded baker was hard at work in the back and the exquisite tastes coming out was a testament to just how much love and care goes into the food. I tried them in Austin and I was kicking myself when I heard they moved. Imagine my surprise when I stumbled across them in their new, totally renovated downtown home! The atmosphere was great, but after I tasted the food it could have been a shack for all I cared! One word DELICIOUS! It's awesome to watch a business grow and there's no doubt with food, salads, snacks, cookies, cakes, this good... this bearded bakery is going to grow far! Also, I love their new back patio!

Carolina Smash Burger - Excellent - nice amount of seasoning in the real beef patty. I love slaw on a nice “hamburguesa”. Edit 05 Oct 2021. Had the Old Glory Smash Burger today and it was excellent. Really good; the meat was perfectly seasoned. Pearls Taters - Excellent - I like the sweet dipping sauce and the crust on the potato wedges Loved the Golden Girls styled cheesecakes esp the “Aunt Sophia” with dark chocolate sprinkles The “Grackle” is my favorite of their all delicious cookie types Always check what is “available” on the site. There was a pop up salad not normally listed with quinoa which I only tolerate but the greens, vinaigrette, and seeds added really made it excellent. I was able to add the chicken-fried bacon crumbles to it. I enjoyed the Carolina slaw dog the Taylor frank was a good size and has a nice snap and color. I still prefer the Vienna Beef ones though this was a good dog. I have my eye on those brunch offerings next like the omelette sammich “Studly Farmer” and the cat head biscuits.

Barbecue restaurant
Southside Market & BBQ in Bastrop, Texas is a must-visit for barbecue enthusiasts. They are known for serving some of the best brisket and pork ribs in the state, along with delectable sides like mac and cheese and corn on the cob. The loaded baked potato and peach cobbler are also highly recommended. Visitors can indulge in a smoky adventure at this top BBQ joint, enjoying the ultimate Texas flavor and hospitality.
I usually have a good experience here, but this last time was great! Rosie cut our meat for us, and she was so sweet and funny. She had an amazing attitude even though the place was packed. Everyone worked quickly and efficiently to get through the crowd of people, the food was very good, and the place was exceptionally clean. We had brisket and sausage, and both were delicious. It's a good place for a good meal.

This was my first time eating here. Service was very enthusiastic and the seating was plentiful. Enjoyed the history that was all around you and the overall decor was just what you'd expect. The food was delicious. I wish I lived closer so I could have purchased some meat from their market.

Good honest food at a fair price. Consistently good, not as pricey as other restaurants. Little to no wait, always quiet & super clean, plenty of room, no tipping expected. Self-serve pickles, jalapeños, onion. Sausage jalapeño cheese bombs and pork steaks are filling. They never have lamb ribs when I'm there, but I hope to try that one day.
Paul S — Google review
Great BBQ. You will need to come back over and over again to make sure you sample everything on the menu. There is even prepackaged food to take home. Drive through is reasonably quick. Only frustration I have is that it takes so long to do a curbside order. Better allow 40 minutes to an hour for them to get it ready. Just go through the drive through, it's quicker.
Ken P — Google review
It was my first time trying Southside Market BBQ and frankly it was disappointing. The food was subpar and more expensive than BBQ from Lockhart. We ordered a Sasuage and Brisket sandwich and a plate of Brisket and Chicken. Mind you we paid $44. As soon as I saw the plate it looked bland and no surprise it was bland. The Brisket tasted like oven cooked Brisket. To make it worse it was cold. The chicken was no different. The sandwich was even worse. Take the cheapest burger buns and put no mayo, sauce, or anything to help balance the dryness of the bread and put meat in it. That is what I received. It was honestly gross because the meat was cold, dry, and bland. For the price, they really need to do a lot better. If you do not believe me, I recommend trying Lockhart's BBQ. To the owner, I would honestly consider hiring a chef. Fast food is better compared to the quality of food I received. I could buy cheap Brisket and Sasuage and make what I ate today anyday. Please do not waste your hard earned money.

Great Texas Bar BQ they originated with the first market in Elgin Tx. This one in Bastrop same just little nicer building. This is classic Texas style meat, beans fixins. If you go eat meat lots of meat. The only thing they need to work on is the potato salad to dry Jalapeno Sausage rolls can be dry also. 7/18/25 upgraded my review. The peach cobbler is good, but the blackberry is better. The dinosaur rib was great flavor and moist with fat. Brisket was a little dry but good flavor.

We’ve been to this location several times and always had a great experience. But today, I wanted to give an extra shout out to Adrian. We were greeted as soon as we entered the building with a smiling face, welcoming us inside. During our dining experience, I witnessed him being so attentive in ensuring everything was clean, but also ensuring that he acknowledges the guest and greets them with a smile. He never stopped being productive. This was my first time seeing him working here, so wanted to make sure that I left a review to give him kudos. Great job Adrian!!

The dining experience at Las Cocinas Mexican Restaurant was exceptional. The outstanding service provided by the attentive staff, including two women and a young man, was remarkable. They were consistently polite and never missed a beat. The salsas and queso served with warm chips were flavorful and enjoyable. The food itself received high praise from both customers and their companions. The dishes, including the carne asada plate, were deliciously seasoned and cooked to perfection.
Very nice restaurant we stumbled upon out here in Bastrop 🥰 Food is served hot and well made. Unfortunately they don't serve breakfast, only lunch/dinner. Wonderful atmosphere. Same polite friendly waiter both times. Definitely recommend!! We sure will be back 10 🌟

Obviously just over-microwaved beans (look at bubbling) and store bought tortillas. Also, we ordered stuffed jalapeños, which came with raw portions of bacon and breading/flour that had not been fully cooked. Don’t see how this place has the ratings it does. Won’t be going back.

Ok. Fajita taco not great. Homemade lemonade with ice tea, awesome. Probably one of the better burgers I’ve eaten. Service was fast and attentive. About 3.5 miles north of Buc-EE’s. Swirl margarita solid.

Came here with my parents and fiance, and we all had a lovely time. The food was great, and the atmosphere was really bright. The decor though a little cluttered, was colorful and fit the theme. The food came out very quickly even though the place was busy on a Sunday afternoon. It was hot and delicious. I would definitely recommend this establishment.

Pastor tacos x4 With a diet of course... Gotta watch the weight... ... Wow. The hot green sauce. Ask for it. The salsa Verde for the chips.... Yup. Get a lot of guacamole. And pico cuz you need it it's so good. Dad makes the food daughter serves it up. Familia....

Food is hot but because it comes out sizzling it had a burnt taste. The rice was hard and so stuck to the bottom. Husband ordered chilaquiles with over easy eggs. The eggs were fried hard. Wait staff never came back to send the food back. It's a pretty place, but the food is not good. Won't be returning!
