Historical landmark
The Wisconsin Maritime Museum in Manitowoc offers a deep dive into the area's maritime history, including its shipbuilding legacy and tales of shipwrecks. Visitors can explore the USS Cobia, a World War II submarine similar to those built in Manitowoc, and even spend the night on board through Airbnb. The museum also showcases the rich maritime heritage of the region and its contributions to World War II.
We actually didn't plan to stop here, as we were focused on heading to door co. But Im so glad we stopped! This took us a good 2 hours and everyone was very entertained! Each floor was carefully and thoughtfully curated and was so immersing! We had littles from 6mo to 4yr old, and it was a great experience for all. Definitely stroller friendly!
Pakou L — Google review
The maritime museum was a great experience for the kids and adults. Seeing an actual submarine was a highlight with the self guided tour. It brought history to life. The many different rooms of boats and history of shipping and shipwrecks was a great experience. The water room was a fun stop half way through too.
Katrina G — Google review
The museum is full of wonder information. It is clean and well maintained. The people are very nice. This was our second visit, my husband wanted to return for the submarine tour. Although he did say the person giving the tour didn’t have her info right. And the person selling tickets was confused on which elevator went where, said one went downstairs but didn’t come backup!?
Dave B — Google review
Nice museum with a lot of history about the region and a great collection of model boats. The shipwreck section was very interesting. We did the self-guided tour of the sub and enjoyed it.
Susie G — Google review
Had a chance to visit the Wisconsin Maritime Museum in Manitowoc today along with the USS Cobia which is part of the museum what a learning experience. After checking in at the front desk and getting my receipt for my online ticket purchase which is basically your pass it was right into the exhibits and from the shipbuilding history of the area to the history of shipping on Lake Michigan to the exploration of shipwrecks and the displays of artifacts from some of the famous and infamous shipwrecks the museum really shows you the history of it all. I'm giving you just a brief glimpse of what there is to see and enjoy at the museum there's more than i could possibly list here you will have to come and see it for yourself to really get the full breadth of it. The exhibits and videos in the museum about the USS Cobia and than the tour of the boat itself which you can do with a guide or as I did just walking through the boat from bow to stern just imagining what it must have been like to be on board during WW2. The boat is beautifully maintained and everybody who is responsible for that should be proud and thanked for keeping it that way. Everyone working at the museum that i came in contact with were very friendly and helpful it was a great afternoon. Thanks! A bonus picture at the end of my tour of the Wisconsin to Michigan ferry boat SS Badger had just come in to port.
R H — Google review
Wonderful experience. We did the self guided tour of the USS Cobia using the iPad. We loved being able to take our time and look around. The museum has so many artifacts and interesting history. Parking lot has room for many cars.
Debby B — Google review
Very nice museum. Educational and really puts heart into marine life, ship building, ship wrecks, and history of men and women that had Parr in it all. Touring the USS Cobia is a must while there.
Simply G — Google review
Was here on a scouting trip and the simulator and rock tumbler thing was very fun tour guide told all the stories especially; the cobia is made of metal and i am not 😢, highly recommend to anyone in the area

Nestled in the heart of Manitowoc, Wisconsin, PetSkull Brewing Company is a vibrant craft brewery that embodies the spirit of community and friendship. Housed in a charming century-old cream city brick building within the River Point district, this 10-barrel brewery offers an impressive selection of twenty beers on tap. Guests can savor everything from porters to IPAs while enjoying authentic Cajun and Creole cuisine.
Celebrated our 11 year wedding anniversary here last night. What a beautiful day and fun place! The patio was clean and open, but I was chilly so we found a great space inside to partake. :) Thanks for the good food & drink, and for the welcoming & hospitable team! We'll def venture this way again to enjoy an evening out. The owner was there and was all smiles -- they should be proud of what they've accomplished!

Overall we enjoyed our experience. Since we were visiting several places in Manitowoc we arrived at opening time and did not get to enjoy the live band. Order at the counter, no table service. Limited menu but the food was good. Constructively, if you open at 12 noon the pizza oven should be warmed up and ready to go. Since it wasn’t we waited for 30-45 minutes for 3 orders to be done. The pizza was good but if you want fresh mushrooms you won’t find them here, they use canned. All of us felt the pizzas could have used a touch more time in the oven to finish the cheese. A very nice selection of craft brews! We tried 4 of them and our favs were Reigning Blood and School Milkshake. There is a raised band stand in side and spacious outdoor patio with a nice view of the river. This appears to be an old factory and it’s cool inside. The wooden floor must have 1000’s of stories and the exposed brick and electrical motors are awesome. You’ll be able to see the brewing vessels both upstairs and thru an in floor window exposing the basement. Stop in and enjoy a few cold brews!
Mark R — Google review
Great variety. Good atmosphere with Live music on a Saturday. Everything we tried was good (Red, Amber, Bock, Wee Heavy, and Hefeweisen) and we got some to take home (maibock). We also had the chicken nachos and they were delicious and filling!
Valerie S — Google review
First time stopping in and I was very impressed by the quality of the beers and food! Tasting is 5 beers for $20 which is a little steep but everything I tried I enjoyed and the pours are decent. I ordered the chicken tenders and French fry combo. Both were great and did not taste like the typical frozen apps you’d expect when ordering tendies. The chicken tenders tasted REAL and the ranch they come with was also fresh and perfectly balanced. The French fry combo had regular and sweet potato fries. The SP fries are always a gamble but these were delicious - not too thick so they still had crunch. The sauce is amazing! I tasted the following beers and they were all very well done in my opinion. Everyone has their own palette but even the styles I don’t usually drink tasted good. I tried the following beers: 1. Udderly Peachy (Nitro) Peach Milkshake IPA - I’ve never tried a nitro milkshake IPA, but this was great. 2. Southside Amber Lager Lager - Vienna - this was my favorite! Such a unique flavor. It is extremely well done 3. Schnitzky Wheat Beer - Hefeweizen - This was another unique style that had good flavor as well. Definitely got the clove/banana on this. 4. Jake's Malt Lemonade Malt Lemonade - very well balanced on the lemonade flavor. Unlike a summer shandy, you could definitely house 5 of these and not have a sour stomach. 5. Bar Oil Schwarzbier - usually such a dark bier you expect it to hang around on the palette after your first sip but this had a nice smooth finish that doesn’t hang around too long. My favorite was the southside amber lager but I would order each of these again if I had to. Overall a very cool stop on the way up to door county. Love the historical buildings and this definitely kept all of the character and added a lot more!

Always a GREAT stop. Beers are certainly coming around from the first few visits from the Fox Valley. Definitely want to try the beers that came out since we were here last, but not enough time! That active menu (in videos attached to review) is a game changer. So great! Heavy on band atmosphere 365, but not in a bad way. Band that was playing today was really really good! CRIBBAGE!! We'll be back again as always!!!

Great place for a good time and for great beer. My wife and I visited fm out of town and made a stop as we were sampling the local beer scene. This is the place to visit. Terrific location, ambiance, and the beer....the beer we tasted was nothing short of FANTASTIC!!! The Trappist Triple, one of my favorite types of beers, challenged some of the best trappists I have tasted in the past. The Anniversary Quad Bourbon Barrel Belgian had me looking to share it with a juicy steak. It was delicious. The same goes for Got Stout. Very robust in taste. Lastly the Campfire Song was refreshing and a pleasure to drink. Thanks to the staff for the service and to the brew master...Right On. Keep up the great work. We will return. Cheers!!!

Came over on the Badger and googled food near me. What a find- great beer, Smashed and Schnitsky, with something for every taste and temperaments. Tasty food delivered with a smile by Veronica. Kathy and Paul owners have the real deal here, cool vibe and great beer.

Awesome establishment and a big THANKS to the owner and staff at welcoming Metalfest 3 in September 2025. I wish there was a local venue like Petskull Brewery back when I was a young headbanger that featured various metal bands like they do. Had to drive to other areas to see similar acts, so featuring this genre of music for this and next generations is a plus and even better you can enjoy great food and drinks at the same time. Hope the Petskull crew can keep featuring future Metalfest shows like the recent performances or any genre of music that allows patrons to mingle and have a good time in general. 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘👍👍👍👍👍

Step into a delightful time capsule at Beerntsen's Confectionary Inc, a family-owned gem that has been crafting sweet treats since 1932. This charming establishment continues to use traditional candy-making techniques, including copper kettles and wooden paddles, ensuring each confection is made with love and care.
Transport yourself back to a simpler time and visit Beerntsen’s in Manitowoc. It was originally founded in 1932 by Joseph Beernsten and remain a family owned business until 2003. The new owners, Dean Schadrie and his family have a background in making chocolate and stated that they would keep it the exact same. I had not been here since I was probably in my early teens and 30 years later it was everything I remembered growing up. I was even able to get the same sundae, the Teddy Bear, that I got as a child, and it was EXACTLY as I had remembered. Even the menu was the same! They have 32 different sundae options for you to choose from. They also have a small lunch menu. Afterwards I had to get some chocolates and taffy. It was a wonderful experience and walk down memory lane. For more reviews, follow us on Instagram and Facebook @gbdiningdykes!

Wife's favorite place in town when we come here. Excellent candy choice and limited food if you want it. Always a homey feeling to it. Quaint. Bought the angel food chocolate and some fudge.

Awesome chocolate and ice cream. Great chocolate taste and nice choice. It was great to see a store which is open from 1932 and the chocolates had some nice flavors. Allie helped me select the right variety of chocolates.

What an amazing place! Chocolates made right here in Manitowoc. Beautiful decor, great ambiance and delicious treats! I highly recommend, and will visit here again.

This shop is a step back in time. The beautifully cared for booths, mirrors, candy cases and tiles are a treasure. The many varieties of treats brought joy to everyone in our group. The hardest part was deciding what to pick. We will definitely have this on our repeat list when we visit the area again.

Definitely a time capsule candy and lunch spot for generations of family to enjoy! Located in downtown Mantiwoc!

We stopped to get ice cream and decided to have lunch too and it was fantastic! The menu had grill cheese sandwiches with many cheeses and meats to pick from. Their tomato bisque was the perfect pairing with a grilled cheese!!! The bread was phenomenal! The entire inside had wooden counters, display cabinets, benches, arches from years and years ago. It was beautiful. We had a scoop of apple pie ice cream ❤️. We will definitely be back!!!

ETA Just tried their new Dubai chocolate bar and oh my goodness it's delicious!! We've been coming to Beerntsen's in Manitowoc for decades and now we are lucky to live nearby so we can keep trying new treats. The employees are friendly and attentive and the place is nostalgic and historic, with gorgeous woodwork. We're looking forward to continuing to enjoy all that Beerntsen's has to offer.

The car ferry to Manitowoc was great! Not what I expected at all but still a great and amazing experience. The kids came with and even with 4 kids the trip was successful, I would do this again!

What a great way to cross Lake Michigan. There is no other place to ferry on a coal-fired, steam-driven ship in North America. Friendly crew, easy, open and comfortable accomodations. She has a couple lounges and cafes as well as a children's play room, video arcade, movie theater, state rooms, museum, gift shop and plenty of deck space. Oh, did I mention BINGO! Free to play with fun souvenir prizes. Todd was a great bingo master. Thanks Todd! I had never sailed on a steamship before and the sound and rhythm of the ship was soothing. I dozed off a couple of times along the four hour sailing. Simply sitting on deck on a starboard bench feeling the drone of the engines lulled me into a deep sleep. Anyway, highly recommend a journey on the SS Badger before she's gone. It's well worth it.

This could be 10 logs lashed together with an old sheet for a sail and it would still beat driving through northeast Illinois. Relaxing with a beer while gliding across Lake Michigan > Chicagoland traffic. Ludington is a very nice place, too. If I could do it over I’d plan to stay there for the night after disembarking.
Andrew W — Google review
The last of its kind! A must do for any visitors to the area. The Badger is the last if 14 railroad ferries the crossed lake Michigan. It’s old yet charming. The ship is massive and a great outing for families or friends. $63 for a shoreline cruise includes an all you can eat buffet with non alcoholic beverages included. Great for sure seeing the shores of the Manitowoc area! If ferry your car to/from Ludington MI

Cedar Crest Ice Cream Factory & Parlor is a must-visit flagship ice cream parlor located in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. The iconic and massive fiberglass cow named Bernice welcomes visitors to the main location where they can enjoy over 80 flavors of delicious Wisconsin ice cream. With 32 hand-dipped flavors available, guests can savor Cedar Crest ice cream, sherbet, or frozen yogurt in cones, sundaes, malts, and other tasty treats.
Delicious ice cream! We live in Florida, and every year when we come up here we make it a point to have Cedar Crest ice cream at least once! Their ice cream is always creamy, their quality control superb; and from their wide variety of flavors, we've never tasted a bad one. As you can see from the photos, I brought along a box of Pocky to put on top. (It was SO good!)
Tiana R — Google review
Cheap ice cream! Since this is a store front with the plant in the back the prices are very reasonable and the yummy ice cream is fresh. This is a small store front with seating for about 20. Outside the a several picnic tables and a good size grassy space to enjoy your selection I. The shadow of a huge cow! During our summer visits the outside area is well used and the line is out the door. If you love icee cream this is a must stop and only a couple of blocks form Lake Michigan.

The OG ice cream of Wisconsin We love the ice cream flight, especially pineapple upside down cake and dump truck, and these flavors are only available here in Manitowoc
Alvin C — Google review
So many choices of flavors! I would like to see a QR code on the signs outside and as you come in to go to each flavor and explain what it is. When you get up to the counter, you don’t want to take too much time figuring that all out. There are options for drinks as well. I have really enjoyed each flavor I have tried. Kids love getting a picture with the cow statue outside.

Ryan's On York, a relaxed taproom that offers craft beer and revamped traditional pub fare, opened its doors in May 2015. Situated at 712 York St., it occupies the former location of J, making it a new addition to the neighborhood. Despite its appearance as a typical bar, Ryan's On York surprises with its exceptional food quality.
Stopped on our way through town! Had a super kind bartender welcome us right away when we sat down at the bar. She made us feel at home! The interior is unassuming in here, but the food is not. Absolutely delicious meal. Such a unique menu with something for everyone to enjoy. They make it very hard to choose. We will be dreaming about this food for a while and will definitely be popping back up from Milwaukee just to eat here! Thanks for making my flavor dreams come true with your awesome and unique food menu and cocktail list!
Lauren D — Google review
We stopped in to Ryan’s after a recommendation from a friend. A very simple order of 3 burgers and a Poutine special took about 40 minutes to prep. The waitperson would not allow me to order grilled onions on my burger although it was featured on another menu item. That should have been a hint. The Poutine was pretty bland with cheese curds that were cold in the middle. I overheard the table next to us complain about the food delay so the waitperson took their drinks off their bill. The burgers were not very good. After we paid, one of us asked about the slow food service and our waitperson said that we make everything from scratch and this is not bar food! Indeed!
Charlie S — Google review
Excellent choices and unique delicious creations. Katsu sandwich, crab meat Rangoon tacos, and Smokey fries off the monthly special. Nice to have an alternative to burgers, fries and curds that are everywhere.
Aaron S — Google review
Great food at this bar n grill. Burger was good, appetizers were great, drinks... good! Got a bit busy which slowed down service but people were nice, not too expensive here either. A bit dark inside, good for date night. We were there for lunch. Would return
Amanda ( — Google review
In Manitowoc for the maritime museum, and this place was close by. The menu looked unique and had good reviews. We got the Caribbean Burger, Katsu Melt and shared the RoY Fries. Everything tasted great and the portions were perfect for the price! I even took half my sandwich home (it was great in the air fryer). The only downside was that they got busy towards the end of our meal. It was sometime since they checked in on us, so we decided to go up to the bar to pay/ask for a to-go box. Prior to that they were very attentive (bartender and busboy). Can’t help a busy day! I’m happy to see thriving businesses. 🙂 We absolutely want to come back when we go to the art museum to try some of their bowls (San Fran Noodles in particular). Yum!

The Spicy Noods with shrimp is elite. The brussel sprouts were too burned for my taste. I still ate some. :) Great place for a date, we ate at the bar. Great cocktail menu! Definitely will be back.
Suzanne F — Google review
Great bar with a unique menu! Not your typical Wisconsin bar food. The menu draws strongly on Asian and Cajun influences. There are so many interesting choices. The Forbidden Rice Naan wrap was amazing. There are so many fun things I could come here a dozen more times before repeating a menu choice. The atmosphere is almost fantastic. It has a beautiful bar but suffers with drop ceilings and fluorescent lights. An interior refresh would go a long way to making this a 10/10 destination. They serve some interesting signature and classic cocktails, but the draft menu is quite limited. They also provide a large selection of board games to play. Overall, amazing destination for foodies, but keep your group small as there is really no option for seating more than 4 people together.

Harborside is a nostalgic supper club in the neighborhood that offers daily specials on food and drinks. It has a vintage ambiance and is a popular choice for birthday dinner celebrations. The restaurant has friendly and welcoming staff, including an attentive bartender who serves delicious dirty martinis. The waitstaff is efficient and always smiling, ensuring a satisfying dining experience. The food at Harborside is exceptional, with everything made to order and customizable.
Visiting from out of state on a weekday and we were looking for a nice restaurant close to the lighthouse. We were greeted right away, very friendly staff. Drinks and food came in good timing. The duck wontons were amazing and obviously homemade. I ordered a ribeye with steak fries and creamy chicken and rice soup. The steak was perfectly cooked and very tender. Great experience.

12/26/24 6pm. Unusual layout throughout. Busier than expected. We had reservations, but delayed, though it worked out. We were in a private room shaped like home plate and I saw another rectangular. All the food turned out well. Hot butterscotch drink and Point pistachio beer were great choices. Bartender knew his stuff. No need to single him. He knew you were there and was efficient. Seemed like locals and travelers with pleasant conversations. Good Cajun chicken.

Beautiful old building with welcoming decor and staff. Perfect place to grab dinner and have some drinks with friends! Serving staff made the evening very enjoyable, even some impromptu karaoke. Will definitely be returning!

The food is always really good. I had one of their signature burgers with cheese curds. My husband had one of the specials, the phish and chips. Everything was good. There seemed to be only one person working, so it took a while to get our order in and also to get our bill after.

Don't let the slightly rundown appearance of this place and faded outside sign deter you from stopping in. The staff was so friendly and welcoming. The food choices had really clever names. We ordered the hand-crafted Woodstock black bean burger, and the Smokey BBQ pulled pork sandwich. Both of these selections were absolutely delicious. The cilantro-lime mayo on the black bean burger was tasty and a great choice for a condiment. With that said, I've eaten many black bean burgers, and this was by far my favorite. The pulled pork with their Chipotle Honey BBQ sauce was really tasty and had a slight bite that was really nice. We did think however that our sandwich had just a little too much BBQ sauce ratio to the amount of pulled pork. I gave a 2-star rating for atmosphere as the dining tables share the room with the pool table. While we were eating, a group of 7 pretty loud guys came into play pool. We didn't mind that they were loud and seemed to be having a great time. However, during one shot the pool cue ball came flying off of the table and bounced off of the back of the top of a table chair where the back was towards the pool table. If that chair wouldn't have been there, the cue ball would have landed right in my plate. Not sure if that was just a fluke, or how to work around that, but thought I would mention it in my review. The art and stuff hanging on the walls in the dining room is clever also. We spent a bit of time looking at all of it. We also appreciated the backgammon game as we played while waiting for our food. We would totally recommend this place and will for sure be back to try more items from your really well thought out menu. Your staff was topnotch and say a lot about the management and their great attitude to make people want to come back. Great Job!

The place smelled weird .. like stale smoke. The beer and the carbless were a little bit on the expensive. I like the way the bar is set up. I've had very good food here in the past... the pork tacos are bomb.

Delicious food and good drinks. We go usually on Fridays and despite typically being very busy the wait is reasonable and the bar and table service is always great. My wife likes the tenderloin and scallops. The 14oz ribeye is good as well. I have also had the Broasted chicken and Ribs that were good. For dessert the tortes are really good.

Very nice, reasonably priced bar and restaurant. My wife had the broasted chicken, and I had the broasted pork. They were very tasty and reasonably priced. The service here is unbelievable. The servers move so fast and are so attentive. When we’re in the area, this is one, we’ll look up again. Not sure, but it appeared that the owner was walking around and checking on patrons To see if they were satisfied. Not your typical place in today’s world.

If I could give this charming place a 10 I would. Our first time here and we found a gem. Cream of potato soup came out hot tasty and before the entree.. Prime rib was done perfectly. Our server was friendly and efficient. A rare quality now days. We will be back. Thank you.

This is my friend's bar. Known them since 2010. They have owned it since 1986. Long story short. 1. Owner's, staff and location is amazing. The people that work there are just spot on and super amazing 2. Food is so good. They have the best drink and food prices around. 3. Beat beat best deserts ever. I typically take 2 home with me for later in the week. 4. Soup is out of this world. Homemade everyday 5. Small supper club, don't let this fool you. On a Friday night the bar is full. The dinning room is full and the 3 tables in the bar are full. Then they have 3 rows of people standing between the bar and the bar tables. You know its worth the wait. 6. When I go Manitowoc now, since I dont live there, I dont find anything that is better then this place to eat so I always will take an hour and go eat here. Must eat and btw if your 21+ try a grasshopper drink. They are so good here

Day 2

South side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the south side side of town. Start the day off with Neshotah Park, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to London Dairy Alpacas. All together, your day would be filled with about 8 hours of non-stop fun.

Nature & Parks
Neshotah Park is a popular Lake Michigan beach park that offers a range of activities for visitors. The park features sandy shores, volleyball and basketball courts, picnic areas with grills, and walking and biking trails. Additionally, it has facilities for swimming, launching watercraft like jet skis and kayaks, as well as a softball field and playgrounds. The Beach House provides amenities such as restrooms, changing areas, and a concession stand.
We just love coming to this beach. Great place to take a dip in Lake Michigan, party on the beach, listen to live music, and cook out in the park.

Beautiful day at Neshotah Park Beach yesterday! But beware of the dangers of the waters, waves & undercurrents generated when entering.....witnessed a water rescue that fortunately had a successful ending!
Dan S — Google review
Had a great day at this beach! Port-a-potties were very clean and didn’t smell plus included hand sanitizer. There is another set of regular bathrooms at the concession stand near the middle back from the beach a ways. There is another concession stand that sells some Asian food, slushies and boba tea on one end of the beach in the parking lot. Not sure what their hours are for either place. There is a nice walking path made of blacktop I believe. People of all ages were there and many going into the water, some building castles in the sand and others floating or playing frisbee in the water. No glass containers are allowed btw. But, we carried our cooler and snacks with us. It’s very clean and the sand is so soft. Popped up the umbrellas for a little shade and towels out for reading. I didn’t see it but one of my kids said there is a section for dogs. I did see a sign for the regular part of the beach that said dogs allowed on a leash from 6-10 am. Easy breezy parking and lots of it including overflow parking. Parking is so close to the beach makes hauling stuff not too difficult. Had a great time and everyone was very respectful.

Busy even on weekdays when it’s hot! Soft sand and beautiful views

This is a great park to visit and just relax and refresh yourself. The parking is usually pretty good, but on a busy and very hot day, it was hard to find a space. The beach is very well maintained, and the sand is clean. There is a nice concession stand and about the middle of the beach. This park has lots more than just a beach. But that's where I stayed.

My family and I love this beach! The sand and waves definitely rival a Florida beach in my opinion! The sand was very fine and soft! Great for a barefoot stroll! I was only bummed we couldn't stay longer!

A busier beach, but lots of shore line, fine sand, and a maintained beach. Free parking and lots of potra potties, along with a snack shack.

Deli
Kurtz's Pub & Deli is a charming historic establishment that has been serving the community since 1904. Nestled in Two Rivers, this classic tavern offers a delightful array of artisan sandwiches and specialty dishes, making it a go-to spot for food lovers. Guests can enjoy hearty homemade soups, including favorites like chicken noodle and beef barley, alongside their famous Reuben sandwich. The atmosphere exudes old-world German pub vibes, perfect for relaxing with an import tap beer or craft cocktail.
Kind of stumbled across this place as it's relatively close to our hotel.....and glad we did. I went outside my norm and got the special of the all you can eat soup and salad, as it appeared to be popular with many patrons. The chicken noodle soup was good, but the beef barley was hearty, full of flavor, and freaking awesome. Salad was good too (if there's such a thing as good salad)....but was full of fresh veggies, ham, cheese and had thick chunky blue cheese dressing. Another in our party got a huge sandwich (called the Wisco) with pretzel bread...he said it was great....and was the best German potato salad he's ever had (his wife is German). He said it had a unique sweetness to it. Our server was on it! She was busy but still polite and super attentive. I would consider the atmosphere definitely reminiscent of Germany, as everyone in our party has lived in Germany at some point in our lives, but not alot of German items on menu. My only complaint is I won't be able to enjoy this place once I head back home.
G.B. R — Google review
Very cool place. The staff was so nice and the food was great. It was our first time going here but we will definitely be going back. Had great specials and the prices are good. We ordered the BBQ pork sliders, The Hot Wisco with potato salad and the prime rib sandwich. The homemade kettle chips were awesome. They also have the old style bottled soda baumiester.

What a great find! Friendly bartenders and a relaxing place to have dinner. The German beer was excellent and the pork tacos were tasty.

The service is always outstanding!!!!! You should be informed that you will be getting complementary chips before picking chips as your side. It felt like a rip-off. A tuna "melt" should be grilled. This was simply a tuna sandwich on toast....for $15!!!!????? (Rip-off #2!) When the bill is brought to the table, it should state that you will be charged a fee to use a card. Nothing on the bill, or said by the waitress. Not fair!!!!!

Historic Sites
The Washington House Museum & Visitor Center, located at 1622 Jefferson St., Two Rivers, WI 54241, is a historic site that dates back to 1850 when it served as a German immigrants hotel. It's famously known as the birthplace of the ice cream sundae and offers over 18 different flavors for visitors to enjoy. The museum features 10 rooms with displays showcasing early businesses and offers guided tours by volunteers.
The museum was amazing for such a hidden gem. Their local displays and collections are first rate, clean, and informative. It is also the location of the invention of the ice cream sundae...though Ithica also has a claim on that. The little ice cream shop is a great place to try one out.

A wonderful FREE museum that captures the history of TR. We started with ice cream at their historic parlor and then explored the free museum. We had fun looking up our parents and grandparents in their high school yearbooks. 📚 I’ve always enjoyed the rooms behind the stage the most - the 1930s version of a barber shop, dentist, etc The dollhouse upstairs is another kid pleaser
Postcard T — Google review
My partner and I randomly decided to go check out The Washington House and I am really glad we stopped by! It was free to enter, had good hours and had a self guided tour. My favorite things were the ballroom, the dollhouse, the music room, and the dentist, barbershop, and doctor rooms! :D

If you’re around Two Rivers, WI you should take the time to stop in and check out the Washington House. Definitely a very cool historic building. Volunteers give tours of the house and you can still get ice cream. If you want to see the whole building make sure you have about an hour. They do have very limited hours, so make sure you check and see if they are open before you go. It’s worth your time to check it out and eat some ice cream at the end. The ice cream is very good but make sure you have cash with you to buy it. “A three-story immigrant hotel built in 1850. Contains an original 1890's saloon, ballroom and a staffed replica of Ed Berners' Ice Cream Parlor, where visitors may enjoy ice cream treats and fountain service. Berners invented the ice cream sundae in 1881 in Two Rivers”

Cool City Brewing Company is a unique full-service restaurant and brew pub located in Two Rivers. It offers a diverse menu of shareable food items designed to spark conversation and camaraderie among patrons. In addition to their locally brewed beer selection, they also specialize in freshly brewed coffee, teas, and smoothies available both in-house and through the drive-thru.
Love the flights! Mac and cheese flights, drink flights, cheese curds flights, and dessert flights. All the food was great. Service was slow and felt a little disorganized. Different workers kept coming up to us asking if we ordered this or that. Wasn't horribly busy but very steady. The outdoor eating area was super nice and clean. The waitress was very nice and helpful. We will definitely go back to try more things.

We stopped in with several friends. This is a very modern open space with a fireplace, bar and table seating. The beer vessels are right behind the bar and the craft beer choices were plentiful. Street parking is available as there is a very small amount of parking in the front and a public parking lot just past the drive through. The menu has many selections and offer both food and beer flights. I enjoyed the fresh Portobello mushroom and Swiss smash burger with a very fresh side salad. Others enjoyed the Triple C Wrap and Brussels Galore. We had very good service and all enjoyed the food, beer, and the nice modern atmosphere with local history shown throughout. Be sure to check out the safe as you enter. There is a cool reason it’s there!

We went with our dog so we needed to sit outside. The outside seating area is so cute and welcoming. We went on a chilly evening and even though we were the only ones outside they turned on the fire for us. That and the blankets they provide made for a comfortable dining experience. Kayla our server was very attentive, our food came out quickly and everything was delicious. Our dog devoured her pup cup and treat.

Our guide, Laura, met us at the gate, and offered to take a photo of us in front of the sign before we joined the rest of our tour group. From there, she gave basic instructions to keep the animals, and us, safe. She spoke clearly and loud enough for everyone to hear, and stopped often to allow for questions. She was very knowledgable and a great educator! When we were indside the pen with the alpacas, she was happy to take our phones and get great pictures for everyone. That is just some of the many many things that she did to make our experience educational, entertaining, amazing and something I'll never forget.

We had a fantastic morning tour with Laura. My 8 year old learned so much about one of her favorite animals. We fed the Alpacas and got to spend time with them. Then we enjoyed buying some authentic winter gear made from Alpaca fibers from Peru. The highlight of our visit was seeing the 3 new babies. We will make this a part of our yearly visit to Two Rivers.

Found this place through a general search and it was a wonderfully informative tour with our lovely tour guide Laura. The tour went in to detail about the care alpacas and the sheering process. I was impressed . The subways back home all the bread has gotten so small and skinny . When I looked at all the loafs on the rack were decent sized and look fantastic. Of course it tasted amazing like subway always does. The service was a little slow for the amount of people and to go orders they had. Dont ever order online theyll take your money not give you food, and say idk when you'll get paid back. Absolute trash customer service saying we cant fulfill your order over the phone because its a security problem at this point. Are you kidding mewehave proof of order and money paid. They say not their problem. Totally disgusted by how they treated my pregnant wife over the phone, and withholding food from my Uncle who has MS and cant walk well, let alone make something to eat for himself. This trash needs to be fixed or not made an option. Please make this so so nobody else has to go through this madness.

I visited with my kids to order some sandwiches for our shop. We waited about 10 minutes while the customers ahead of us were being served—no problem. However, after they left, none of the staff acknowledged us. I noticed employees handling online orders, but at no point did anyone greet us or let us know they would be with us shortly. Basic customer service—such as a simple "Hi, we'll be right with you"—goes a long way. Instead, we were left standing there without any communication. I understand that online orders are part of the business, but acknowledging in-person customers should also be a priority. I hope this feedback helps improve future experiences.
Michael C — Google review
The first time they gave me a kids sub when I ordered a regular sub. I had to drive all the way back for the correct one. Then a couple nights ago I tried ordering online and it said they were out of bread. I called and asked if they were actually out of bread and was told they had some in the oven. I asked if that meant that if I came in they would have bread and was told YES. When I got there they said they had no bread and the bread they had just made was for the next day so couldn’t make me a sandwich. I was obviously very annoyed because I specifically asked them on the phone if when I came they would have bread! Today I went in and thankfully they had bread. I stood in line. Had 3 subs made. Then went to pay and was told they couldn’t accept $50 bills. News to me. All I had was a $50. I was told I could go cash it and come back. Why would I have my sub toasted to come back for it to have gone cold. Gross. 3 times in a row. Lesson learnt. Won’t be going back again.

Staff is BUSY and food takes a little while (25-40 min) but is worth the wait. We've had everything from pizza to wings to cheese curds to brat burgers and their awesome "spicy bites". Highly recommend 👌🏼.

Sadly couldn't eat in and enjoy the place because it seemed like a fun time! The bartender who served me for our carryout was super kind and fast and thoughtful! Our gluten free taco and regular taco pizzas were literally the best taco pizzas any of us had ever had and the jalapeno poppers were definitely the best id ever eaten!!!

If you’re looking for a place to test your patience and question your life choices, this is it. We waited just under two hours for our food, which, honestly, gave us plenty of time to watch the live indoor vaping competition happening close by the bar. Apparently, nicotine clouds are part of the ambiance here. The entertainment doesn’t stop there, the grumpy old regulars glued to the gambling machines really set the mood. This so called restaurant wants to be a casino more than a place for food. When the pizza finally arrived, the crust was so thin I thought they forgot it. I’ve seen thicker pieces of paper. Not to mention, someone in our party found a hair in their food. In short, if you enjoy slow motion service, indoor smog, and a paper-thin excuse for pizza, congratulations, you’ve found your spot.

One star because there was not a poop 💩 emoji option. Waited 2.5 hours for undercooked pizza, had to drink water from the spigot in the bathroom, and the gamblers on the slots where boligerent towards my children. Posting this review here because the manager on duty chose to hide behind the bar vs addressing our experience at the restaurant.

Chinese restaurant
If you're in the mood for some delicious Chinese cuisine, look no further than China Wok. This gem in Two Rivers has quickly become a favorite among locals, and it's easy to see why. With a menu that features fresh ingredients and generous portions, every dish is crafted with care. Diners rave about the sesame chicken plate, which comes complete with rice and an egg roll at an unbeatable price. The crab rangoons are also a must-try; they’re often described as the best around!
We moved to Two Rivers a few months ago and finally decided to order from China Wok. We're sorry we waited so long, and we definitely recommend their food. I placed an order with some special requests and they called right away to explain what they could and couldn't do. The order was ready fast. Excellent service. The food is a bit pricey but totally worth it. You can tell everything is made fresh. No soggy vegetables and there is a decent amount of meat in each dish. The sauces weren't super salty or sweet, just right.
Tammy K — Google review
I can’t give 1 star because the food really is terrific but I’d rather not have a chickens toe in my meal next time, thank you very much.

This place is some of the best Chinese food I've ever had. Super friendly service and they always get your food out to you hot and quickly. I always get the sesame chicken plate which comes with rice and an egg roll for a cheap price. I also get their crab rangoons and lo mein. You get so much for the little amount you pay. Worth it every time. Always will go back here.

Decent little Chinese spot off the man drag. Right by the city center. I had the chicken Lo Mein. Pork fried rice and egg rolls. The service and food were pretty darn good. Worth the visit when you got that craving for chinese.
Andrew D — Google review
They have the best Crab Ragoons ever. If you leave here hungry it's your own fault. Hot when sitting inside to eat, feels like no AC
Dianna B — Google review
Food is always good and hot, the amount is always more than my family can eat at 1 time. They may seem a bit pricey but we get 2 meals out of 1 order! THE BEST CHINESE FOOD AROUND!
Shelzbelz — Google review
Easily the best Chinese food in the Manty area. Lucky Bamboo doesn't hold a candle to this place. Inside the place sucks and has a horrible atmosphere, so I'd just take it to go or take out. Highly recommend this place though, you won't be disappointed. Make sure you try the egg rolls, they're the best I've ever had.

American restaurant
Nestled in a cozy corner, Nicky's Good Eats and Treats is an all-American eatery that boasts an impressively diverse menu. Beyond the classic burgers, you'll find a delightful array of sandwiches, wraps, soups, salads, and tempting desserts. The prices are budget-friendly while the portion sizes are generous. What truly sets Nicky's apart is the freshness of their ingredients; you can taste the quality in every bite.
As per always with my culinary background, hard to please but !!! Service was great individual behind the cash register was completely outgoing and very communicative Atmosphere for being a gas station wasn’t that bad? Wasn’t exactly great but acceptable. Food was actually cooked as asked unlike most places that just do their own thing Pricing seemed a bit up there due to everything was à la carte Location is easy to get to however limited parking due to the fact they share their lot with the gas station It appeared. They had a lot of home-made items versus bulk bought productions 👍

Pretty good place to eat. The fries used to be way better though. They need to change their frying oil more often! First few times they were perfect. Nice gold color, crispy, and delicious. Now they're brown, soggy, and taste bad... quite dissapointed since the fries are one of my favorite sides. Even tried to have them remake them after i found they were soggy. Still came out the same 😥

Such a lovely hidden gem! My club sandwich and lava flow smoothie were fresh, delicious, and made with care. The service was friendly and helpful, and the space was clean and homey. I will be back!
Michelle M — Google review
Food was great, the ladies behind the counter were very friendly and kind, and the place feels like a little diner even though it’s in the back of a gas station. Really nice place to grab dinner after hanging out at the beach. They also have homemade desserts and everything was pretty inexpensive, especially for the quality.
Cheyenne A — Google review
Very nice place to eat, felt like eating at home. Loved the food, Lott of veggie - salad options too. A very friendly touch of fresh cookies at the counter. Everything here spells fresh and just made - very few places serve food as good.
Bosco P — Google review
It's easy to miss this little place. We only found it on the third drive around the building. It's basically a little (but I don't mean little negatively) addition to a convenience store/gas station. There are a couple of tables outside where dogs are welcome. The tables have umbrellas but it's not really well-shaded. We had left another well-rated Two Rivers location because there weren't many shaded tables (in truth, this wasn't much better). We were ready to go to the Golden Arches and get food to go. But, there was a remarkable difference in service, fresh food, and pleasantness. It was on Friday and they had the Friday Fish Fry basket. I hear tell that the good fish fries quickly run out of fish. The fires and cole slaw were much better than they had to be. We didn't end up eating on site. But, we'd have been happy to do so. There were lots of people coming and going. If we get back up to Two Rivers again, this will definitely be a first stop. We'd probably get the food to go, but eating on site would be okay, too.
Michael D — Google review
Girl at counter was pleasant and helpful. Food was a big disappointment. Restaurant used to be a favorite. Baby red potatoes were a sorry looking mass of yellowish white chunks with little flavor. The fish was somewhat dry and flavorless (obviously frozen for some time), even slightly tough. Don't know what's changed but I will think long and hard before returning.

Day 3

Off the beaten path
For day 3, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Point Beach State Forest. Not quite as popular as Hamilton Wood Type & Printing Museum, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 8 hours.

Campground
3,000-acre recreational park on Lake Michigan with forests, sandy beaches & a historic lighthouse.
Absolutely beautiful state park right on the shore of Lake Michigan. The campground can be a bit windy, being right off the lake, but there are plenty of beautiful trails and beaches. They have a small restaurant and ice cream shop in the park, and shower buildings as well. I would overall highly recommend this state park.
Christian D — Google review
We camped for 4 nights over a long weekend. The sites are nice with many having electric hookups. Many of the sites have quite a bit of privacy. They do have several buddy sites. The bike trail was a beautiful peaceful ride. Bummer, there are no tours of the lighthouse. The beach is beautiful and a wonderful walk option. It was great to be able to get ice cream and breakfast at the lodge on the weekend.

This place is great if you have a bike or if you’re immune to bloodthirsty mosquitoes! 🤣 SERIOUSLY GRAB THE BUG SPRAY!! But if you’re lucky enough to live past the swarms that could almost carry you away— it’s a beautiful place to be and the expanses of sand dunes are so beautiful.

Video arcade
Heroes Venture Arcade is a 9,000-square-foot retro-style arcade that offers over 150 retro and modern arcade games, as well as pool, air hockey, foosball, and an indoor skate facility. Visitors have praised the cleanliness of the venue and the wide variety of games available. The staff is helpful and attentive, providing tips on how things work. The place has a nostalgic feel with cool dragon decorations throughout. It's described as an amazing experience for both kids and adults alike.
We walked in just to check it out and was pleasantly surprised there is a back room area with tons of games, including air hockey and pool. We found out that you can buy a wrist band for unlimited play for an hr for $10 a person or all day for $20. If you haven't checked it out yet please do it was alot of fun
Matt — Google review
I took my 8 year old here for the first time. He had a blast in the front of the house, which is where you load money onto a card and pay per play. He loved it, especially the Jurassic Park game. We didn't earn a ton of tickets, but the games were awesome! I think I only saw one or two that were out of commission (the kitty was providing security for the one machine). The back of the house, the unlimited machines, probably would have been more fun for me, but I let my kid pick this time around. We saved our card as it'll hold on to our tickets. I thought the pinball machines having an ability to connect to your phone profile was a really cool feature, so don't miss that the first time you play it!
Ryan B — Google review
I took the kid there on Friday. It smelled really clean when we walked in. The guy who was working was super nice. Talking to us about the games. He even let us try some of the games in the front lobby. This was our second time there. It was so worth the money. Definitely be back.
Rik S — Google review
The Best Arcade we've ever been to! New games & innovations are always happening. Now having a stage for live bands & DJs, plus 5 huge projection screens for movie nights, anime & visuals. Always a Blast!
Industrial P — Google review
This was the coolest place I've been to in the Manitowoc/Greenbay area. Way better than any other arcades in the area and so much better than Dave N Busters. There is so many machines, it's impossible to play them all which is awesome. I love the pricing and atmosphere. Too cool to believe Two Rivers is has this hidden gem right on its main street.
Dokes — Google review
Amazing!! The front has your standard "load a card with credits" affair that you're used too, but the prices are better than the big arcades! But my favorite, is for $10 for two hours, or $20 for the ENTIRE DAY, *with* the ability to leave and come back as you please, you can go to the back and play all of the "retro" arcade games, ALL ON FREE PLAY! It's such a value that you can't possibly beat! All of the games are in beautiful condition, with, seemingly, people on site to touch them up too! And in the topic of the games, there's something for EVERYONE! Pinball, light gun, rhythm games, fighting games, racing games, even air hockey! Definitely recommend!
Gwendolyn C — Google review
What a great experience! We came there to play minecraft dungeons but ended up spending the whole evening in the back area where we paid a fee of $20 and got to play from 7 until the end of the night! The guy there was super nice, let us look at the back before we decided to go back there and we got to meet the cute cat, Cleo, who was a great addition. Easily worth the money and made our whole weekend!
Olivia V — Google review
This arcade is easily the most fun and awesome business in the area! Truly one of the top arcades in all of Wisconsin, right here in our back yard! We love going to Heroes Venture and playing all of the retro games in the back of the arcade. I had no idea how big it was from the road, it's huge! 10/10 experience, vibe, and pricing.

Schroeder's Department Store is a historic and charming shopping destination, known for its creaking wood floors and high-quality merchandise. Established 132 years ago, it offers a wide range of clothing, shoes, and gift items. The store carries popular brands like Keen footwear and also features a coffee shop with touristy decor. Visitors can explore the various departments including specialty yarns, suits, jewelry, and a toy section downstairs.
We just had THE BEST experience. This store offers something for anyone includinv a cup of coffee and personal service with staff that know their products. Loved the experience and worth the stop on my visit to Two Rivers WI!!
Caroll R — Google review
This is a truly incredible store! As one of the last small town department stores left in America it has an old school charm. Combine that with the many local vendors that have taken residence in the store, and you get a very unique shopping experience. The staff were friendly and the selection is surprisingly good for such a small space. I will definitely plan on visiting again!
Jacob K — Google review
I stopped in as part of the Ice Age Trail Alliance's, October 2025 Mammoth Challenge. I was pleasantly surprised we I walked in. I am from Milwaukee, and the word "department store" automatically turns me off. If you have ever been in one of our malls, our department stores generally mass produce overpriced cheaply made clothes. Not so in Schroeders. They offer high-quality very well-known brands such as Merrell, Taos, Clarks. (I was looking for shoes) I was actively hiking part of the Ice Age Trail that day and I wasn't actually planning on buying anything because that would mean having to carry it around on the trail. But, my feet were sore and my shoes seemed too small. So, ended up buying some awesome Merrells as hiked out the store with them literally on my feet. I had just shoved my other shoes in my pack. But anyways, love your store and I would highly recommend anyone hiking the Ice Age to pop in and check it out, if only for a respite from your hike. It is on the actual trail that goes through the city so it's not out of the way at all. Oh and their prices are competitively priced for the brands they offer. I got mine for almost 40% on clearance which is why I bought them. Their prices are very reasonable. And that is comparing them to the prices of the largest city in Wisconsin.

An unexpected find in the middle of Two Rivers. We went in to get a coffee from the coffee shop and discovered a whole department store! Men's and women's clothing sections, a gift shop area as well as a second floor with yarns and macrame items, a small thrift store area, and a huge used/ new book store!

Fatzo's Sub & Pizza Shop in Two Rivers is a popular spot known for its massive and satisfying subs. UPDATE: I posted a comment on their recent award and they deleted it and also blocked and banned me from their Facebook page. What some cowards. What a way to show ANY responsibility at all. I’ve talked to several people now who said the food went downhill recently. Gee, thanks. We’ll never be back as long as you guys are owners. From someone who travels all the way from Oshkosh just to eat at our most favored sub shop for years, I am sad to say the food has changed recently. I ALWAYS get the same thing because it’s so good, or WAS so good. The hot beef and gravy used to have thick, darker, savory gravy and now, the last two times traveling here, the gravy is VERY light, watered down and tasteless. I watch a lot of food shows, cook myself and know when things change. If you water your gravy down just to get more “product,” you’re only fooling yourself as regular customers will eventually know the difference. The last occasion, about a month ago, the woman last time was rude after I had expressed I asked for only butter on my ham sub. It came back with mayo and butter. I specifically asked butter only and she checked the slip as if I was fooling her. I advised that it was a guy who took my order and she said yeah, that would be my husband, all cocky. They remade the sub, didn’t apologize that she found out they were wrong. You run a business! It’s not hard to be friendly, even if you have to fake it and pretend to be nice.
Brad D — Google review
Wonderful selection of sandwiches and pizzas. Hearty portions at very reasonable prices. I had the Texan and my wife had the Chicken Cordon Bleu. Very good and plenty of sandwich for lunch. We both ordered a half sub and I would recommend asking to have it cut in half. We have been there many times before and each time we have left very satisfied. We will also go back the next time we are in Two Rivers.

Fatzo's Sub and Pizza Shop is a great stop. My lady and I stopped for lunch on a sunday afternoon and yeah, we're very happy with our meals. She got a hot beef sub, which tasted excellent. I got a cold sub, which was very good. Both our subs were half subs, and we're large enough to fill us.

Casa Mexico has an authentic mexican menu, delicious food and incredible kind, fast and friendly cooks and servers! We were in Two Rivers just for an overnight and this restaurant was right behind our hotel. We are so happy we decided to give this restaurant a try! We arrived 25 minutes before closing and they still welcomed us in and provided full service! We ordered the Street Tacos and the Chicken Chimichanga (which was out of this world). Erik-eduardo Laporta, was not only our incredibly friendly cook, he was also our server. He was not the least bit put out by our late arrival, in fact, he treated us like we were his first customers of the day! We highly recommend giving this place a try, you won't be dissappointed!!!! Casa Mexico has a very cool and unique decor! The banana and lime blended margaritas were fantastic! I was definitely feeling good when we left 😛 The service was fast and friendly. The chips and salsa were amazing . Warm chips and homemade salsa ❤️ The food was above average for sure and everything was delicious. It's not quite as authentic as I prefer, but I bet most people would love it regardless. I'd definitely go back again!

The food was okay , nothing too fancy. Honestly it tasted good but after being in the building I worry my food was cooked in an unsanitary place . I never finished my food out of disgust. The service was slow however only one girl was running around so that was to be expected , no fault to her The table we sat at was so sticky and the center piece thing was also extremely sticky which just made me feel dirty and un clean. The bathrooms were the most disturbing. The men’s bathroom had poop all over the seat and toilet paper all over the floor. The woman bathroom has holes all over and also was dirty and unkept . The atmosphere of this place was just unpleasant

Currently on a taco tour. This stop is #40 in the tour Chips and salsa: Chips were thick and had no salt. The chips left an oily residue in your mouth. The salsa was watery but had a nice kick to it - 1 Lime Margartia on the Rocks: The margarita is great. It has a perfect sweet to sour ratio - 5 Steak Taco: Flavor: 2 Fullness: 4 Appearance: 5 There was no consistency with the tacos. My taco was awful. It had zero flavor and was extremely oily. The taco was so saturated that the tortillas shell that was nicely fried on the flat top was falling apart. I only had a few bites and could not finish it. I took a picture of how much oil was on my plate. The others in the group said their tacos were dry and the meat needed salt, but was lightly seasoned and could use more. Service: The server was very nice and our food was brought out correctly. After seeing the issue with my taco, they offered another taco which I declined. They then removed the taco from the bill- 4 Give us a follow on Instagram @gbdiningdykes

Food was great, I had the enchilada, my wife the chimchanga and both were excellent. Prices were great for the amount of food you got. Service was good, my wife and I were there during a slow time and the staff seemed to be rushed. I assume they were running a skeleton crew at that time and they were just busy doing other things. The 2 staff I saw were doing their best. The atmosphere seemed to be overcompensating. It sounded like there was a huge party going on with the music but only 2 patrons in the restaurant at the time. 🤣

This is a great place. The wife and I came for our anniversary weekend. The food was great. The service was amazing. The atmosphere was nice too. The server was great. She knew the menu and made great suggestions that we were very pleased with. Being a celebrity chef and a health inspector that loves to eat. It’s hard for me to find places that gives everything including a clean environment. This gave me everything. Great drinks as well. Will definitely be back.

I really don't give places all 5 stars I just think it's fake when people do that but honestly between the fresh sour cream fresh guac to the amazing salsa and warm chips to the GREAT FOOD! The service was outstanding freaken standing! Never have I had a more attentive and friendly waiter. Absolutely amazing!!!! I will be back!!!!! I've lived here for a year and decided to try it out with my mom when she came to visit and I definitely found a new place! It was absolutely without a doubt outstanding!

Pizza restaurant
Port Sandy Bay is a popular spot in Northeast Wisconsin known for its delicious pizza and family-friendly atmosphere. The restaurant features a fun arcade area for kids, making it an ideal destination for families. With prompt and friendly service, the dining experience is enjoyable, and the bar serves drinks quickly. The spacious venue includes multiple dining rooms that can accommodate groups without crowding others. Additionally, there's a game room to keep kids entertained.
This is a local favorite. We have been coming here for a fish fry and pizza with family every summer. It is always packed when we've been there. Make reservations, especially if you have a larger group coming. The food and service is great. It is loud, but you can still talk to those next to you. It is just a great time. When our kids were younger they loved the arcade. At that time they had the paper ticket system the that spit out tickets that you could redeem for candy or prizes at the bar. You still can, but everything is digital now. Ever since the arcade switched over to digital pre-loaded cards, our kids haven't been as interested. Otherwise it is a neat little arcade. This year our kids enjoyed playing soccer on the grounds outside before and after eating. Just a beautiful setting in the woods.

We had a big table of 8 and a small table with 4 kids after going to point beach for the day. We ate on the big room side without the bar. We ordered our pizzas at the counter. They came out fast and just as ordered. The place started to get busy about 5. Very great pizza and service! Will stop here again for sure.
Nicole W — Google review
While visiting area we decided to stop for dinner since it was close to where we were staying. From the outside it resembled a Wisconsin Supper Club but once inside it def had more of a pizzeria feel to it with an attached video arcade. Sundays are busy as you would imagine but we did get a table. You have to go up to order your food but they do deliver it to your table. The pizza was great and the waitstaff we saw working that evening (all probably 16-22 years of age) were doing a fantastic job of delivering food, refilling drinks, and busing tables. If you have little children this is a great option to eat but if you prefer quieter dining experiences this may not be the best pick. Again, kudos to waitstaff for working in loud, somewhat chaotic atmosphere at that pace.
Michele B — Google review
We had a very nice meal here. It was quite busy, so we had a bit of a wait, but the food was well worth it. Priced very well, comfortable bar atmosphere (we ate on the bar side), friendly staff, and delicious food. Shout out to Village Inn on the Lake for recommending this place! Also has a game room with tickets that can be traded for prizes, for the young and the young at heart. We recommend this restaurant, and would return here again.

This place is really special and has such a strong atmosphere for family and friends! I got the gourmet chicken pizza the first time I was there and it was delicious. They also have some great specials and it’s a wonderful place for hosting small events.

The food here is always very good . There pizzas are the best around , there mock lobster tastes phenomenal and there fish is lightly bread and always very flaky . They have a nice game room for the kids to use while there waiting for there food .

Day 4

Proximity is everything
For day 4, we bundled attractions like Manitowoc Lincoln Park Zoo and Rahr West Art Museum and other places within a close range, so that the time it takes to travel between all of them is less than one hour. Combined with the average time people spend there, your day should take about 7 hours.

Zoo
Zoos & Aquariums
Manitowoc Lincoln Park Zoo is a small zoo with free admission, offering a chance to see nearly 200 animals including prairie dogs, bison, wolves, snow leopards, lynx, bald eagles, black bears and rescue cougars. The Education Center houses tropical birds and various reptiles for interactive learning. Visitors can also enjoy the Big Red Barn featuring farm animals like pigs, rabbits and goats on loan from local farmers.
We visited Lincoln Park Zoo. It's a small Zoo but was enjoyable. My favorite was the Eagle n Hawks. Free parking n free entrance but I did donate $4.00. It wasn't busy last Saturday. They do have a play area for kids. Worth a visit if you're in the area.
Donna H — Google review
It is low key, but the grounds are lovely. Unfortunately it appears to be struggling with funding, so many of the exhibits were empty. Those that did have animals, you were able to get great views of them. There is a little playground area for kids, and you can take a nice walk along the lake. It's a great place to relax and walk around, but not if you're hoping to see a lot of "classic" zoo animals. This zoo is much more prairie focused with animals naturally found around North America, which is great to see and learn about, too.
Sarah T — Google review
Delightful "free" little zoo, first time visiting it was a great . it is small but well laid out and it seems it's well taken care of too, the family enjoyed all the animals (the alpacas especially) and the playground , bathrooms are available, no fee as mentioned before but you are encouraged to donate which I personally believe they deserve they're doing a great job in this place . It took us about an hour to see the whole thing but we were being led by a 2 y.o. toddler just fyi .
Erik S — Google review
Free! Small zoo but great day to let the littles run around. I donated to the zoo. It was so tidy and perfect for the family. Especially when on a budget. There was a little area to get the kids to listen and use their senses. Awesome time!
Crystal R — Google review
We love this free zoo. This is a very special place for my family. This is where my husband proposed to me 16 years ago. The animals are very well cared for and the zoo it clean and quiet.
Dena E — Google review
Pretty nice free zoo for the area without having to drive to suamico. It's free, donations suggested at $2 for adults and $1 for kids. Has a nice paved walking path throughout so great for ones with strollers/wheelchairs. Exhibits are smaller so you're more likely to see some of the animals up close. Overall, seemed well maintained.
Irene D — Google review
Cool little zoo, free to enter but suggest $2 donation which seems reasonable for all the animals you get to see and how well the grounds is maintained.
Chris B — Google review
This is an awesome place! FREE entry, with a box for free-will donations. The zoo is small, but very nice and well-kept. Also some great playground/picnic areas. The entire Lincoln Park is quite large, with picnic shelters and more.

Specialty Museums
The Rahr West Art Museum, housed in a historic Victorian mansion, is a renowned destination for art and education. It has been recognized as one of the '10 Great Places To See Art In Smaller Cities' by USA Today. The museum features rotating exhibits alongside a permanent collection that includes works by prominent artists such as Georgia O'Keeffe, Andy Warhol, and Pablo Picasso.
Lots of interesting history here. It's a great little museum. The Christmas decor was very tasteful. It was neat because they had a little scavenger hunt there. It did not take real long to go through.
MM P — Google review
This is a beautiful home listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Outside are some cool sculptures and a Sputnik crash site display. Inside you’ll enjoy rotating art exhibits and some access to the home as it was years ago. There is no admission. A great place to visit.
Mark R — Google review
Not only is the house itself a great glimpse into the history and grandeur of the late 19th/early 20th century, but it makes amazing use of the sprawling space to highlight artists of multiple genres. Galleries featuring folk non traditional, equine pieces, local artists, pottery/China, scrimshaw/carved ivory, and even an original Georgia O'Keefe full the many rooms and hallways. It also highlights how art is not just what is on a canvas, but the artistry employed by master craftsman of the last and present. There is a self guided tour and many quue cards to be sure that you get a full understanding of the pieces and collections presented. All of this painstakingly preserved and presented art is done so at no cost to the public at entry! I would however be sure to leave a donation, and thank the staff as well for being part of an exhibit that houses culture right in your backyard

A beautiful Victoria Period home is the setting for the Art museum. No charge, but donation accepted. Beautifully decorated for Christmas. Some unusual and attractive art displays , stunning chandelier , and interesting history of the house and its many owners. Friendly staff.

It’s an interesting museum with a variety of paintings, sculptures, and rooms. Personally I would’ve spent maybe 30 minutes top in it, but it’s a nice small town museum.
Faith F — Google review
on the spur of the moment we decided to get off the highway and visit the museum, expecting a quiet, low key visit. We found ourselves in the middle of Sputnikfest 2025 and have the most marvelous time at the fest and visiting the museum! Both were phenomenal!
Qadgop M — Google review
This used to be my favorite museum. To see all the miniature houses, the scrimshaw art, all the porcelain figurines. Now it seems every time I go there more has been hidden away and replaced with nothing but giant murals of past home owners. Entire rooms are now sealed off on the second floor that used to be part of the museum. I used to be able to spend hours walking around and looking at things. The christmas trees, oh my god how sad thats become. What happened to the peppermint tree and all of its decorations that was up every year? And there were only a handful of trees last year? Sad. I dont know who's in charge of all these changes, but it feels like you are emptying the museum for sale. And you know if you do that someone will absolutely ruin that house and its history will be lost. Three stars only because of its historical value. Bring back the art.
FightMeHelen17 — Google review
I really enjoyed this museum. Learning the history of the mansion was very interesting. The art collection is very nice. I was very excited to come across a Stuart Davis and a Warhol piece!!! Very friendly staff. A must visit when in the area!

Manitowoc County Courthouse

1.7
(124)
County court
County government office
The Manitowoc County Courthouse, a stunning architectural gem completed in 1906, stands proudly as a significant historical landmark. This impressive structure is not only listed on the National Register of Historic Places but also serves as the heart of a vibrant 72-building historic district. For over a century, it has been the central hub for county government activities. Visitors often report positive interactions with the staff, regardless of their reasons for being there—whether for joyous occasions or more serious matters.
Everytime I’ve needed to come here I’ve had a positive experience with all staff. Despite if I’m there for good or bad things in life. Facility is also occupied by a country Sheriff nearly every time IF NOT every time I’m in there. So if you are going to court with someone you don’t get along with you know you’re at least safe if anything would ever happen.
Olivia T — Google review
The Manitowoc Courthouse is a nightmare. Judges are essentially rubber stamps for the DA, showing no real commitment to fairness or justice. The police are more like henchmen, targeting people for minor infractions just to rack up fees. These fees are arbitrary and inflated, with no clear accounting, and if you don't pay, they don’t just threaten collections—they threaten arrest. Customer service is non-existent, and no one is willing to help or explain anything. It feels like living in a small, oppressive police state where the system is designed to extract as much money as possible from the people
K P — Google review
This courthouse prefers to have innocent people in jail over admitting that they might have made a mistake. Innocent people have to pay for their reputation.
Michael O — Google review
Release Steven Avery!!! I have never seen such an obvious frame job before. There is so much evil in the Manitowoc County justice department and that is evident.
Christina P — Google review
JUDGE PATRIC L. Willis, you’ve made the wrong decision putting Steven in JAIL! You probably work with the cops 👮 & covered up Teresa death! You DAM will know it wasn’t Steven 😡 I’m disgusted! When the truth comes out you’ll be sorry! You should be sued
Socorro C — Google review
This place is horrible. I called for information about a family member’s initial court appearance because they have been in jail now for almost a week and no court date has even been set, the clerk’s response was “ she made the decision to commit a crime so she has no rights”. So much for innocent until proven guilty and no more basic rights in Manitowoc County!! If you are arrested just know they have already convicted you before any trial!!
Melissa S — Google review
Now Steven Avery has a new judge.... Please let there be an honest, unbiased, professional and accountable one in their place who enables a fair retrial with alterior suspects, witnesses and evidence allowed.... ? The whole world will continue to believe you are all corrupt in the so called judicial system. I don't think you realise how you police, lawyers, judges, court etc etc have put manitowoc on the map, worldwide, for all the wrong reasons! It's not the case or the murder.. It's you guys! Honestly, you must do the right thing and have a retrial. If he's guilty, it will come out... What are you so scared of ??
Suzy H — Google review
Stay outta the city manitowoc road pirates running ramped unless your looking to end up losing money trying to get to work wasting time pulled over to “make sure your okay” unlawful searches and seizures and poor customer service when you cave into the communist government that we deal with when trying to exist with the police force here in the city and just try to “pay your dues” you can’t get anyone on the phone to help you to take it with all this money they are taking in prosecuting they’re own citizens for petty traffic violations and children who get caught with cigarettes all while we’re known as “methitowoc” and fentanyl is lining the lakeshore you would have a staff available to answer the phone at noon on a Friday or you know what maybe you don’t need as much funding 0stars please do better of 924 reviews on Us-info you have the lowest possible rating meaning of those 924 people everyone of them had a negative experience with your department the sheer fact that I cannot find one positive thing that anyone chose to share about this department should let everyone know not to come here

This well-maintained trail stretches approximately six miles along the picturesque shores of Lake Michigan, where you can enjoy breathtaking views while engaging in various activities like biking, walking, or even rollerblading.
A very flat scenic trail right along Lake Michigan. Starts by the Maritime museum in Manitowoc and goes to Two Rivers. Trail is paved, wide, with only a few driveway crossings. There are a few waysides on the way.

Anice flat trail that runs from the Manitowoc Marina up to Two Rivers. Lake Michigan is the attraction to the east. Waysides are nicely done with gardens and statuary. Make sure to stop at the West Gardens and take time to check out the "Spirit of the Rivers" artwork. You can grab a bite at the Tipsy Tomato or the Submariner along the way. An easy trail for walking and bicycling. In Two Rivers you can catch the Riley Point Trail up to Point Beach State Park. All on all a very pleasant place to spend some time.

Beautiful 6 mile trail from the Wisconsin Maritime Museum to Two Rivers. Bike, walk, run, rollerblade; nicely paved and well maintained. The lake is the main attraction, but gardens, sculptures, and waysides beckon. Highly recommend. It continues on as Rawley Point Trail to Point Beach State Park.

Rogers Street Fishing Village, situated on the picturesque East Twin River near Two Rivers, Wisconsin, is a captivating museum and heritage park. The village showcases America's commercial fishing history through its four historic buildings and exhibits.
My mother and I visited this amazing gem of a museum- a spur-of-the-moment decision as we were passing through town. What a memorable experience! There were two incredibly knowledgeable volunteers who took turns telling us tales and history of fishing, shipwrecks, maritime stories, and the heros that eventually became the Coastguard. We weren't expecting such a personalized tour, and this visit quickly became a highlight of our trip! The museum is clearly cherished by this community and the buildings and artifacts inside are amazing! If you're in the neighborhood, do yourself a favor and check it out.

A neat place on the water with a lighthouse and some large boats. Unfortunately they were closed for the season, so we didn't get to see the museum. We walked around the outside to get some pictures and take in the atmosphere. Saw an otter or something run by, but couldn't get a decent shot of it. Would like to stop back some day to see what the inside is like, but it was still nice on the outside.

The museum was very interesting and fun. Our family stopped here while on vacation and we're pleasantly surprised. Seemed unassuming from the street but had many buildings and some very interesting artifacts (like a 100 year old catsup bottle from the Christmas Tree Ship wreck). Definitely worth a stop.

The food is amazing at this place but what really stood out for me was their willingness to accommodate me on the patio on a chilly fall evening because I had dogs. They said to call when I arrived and someone would seat me outside. The waitress was super sweet even though she had to come out in the wind and chilly temperature, never once making me feel bad for being out there. She was attentive and made outstanding recommendations. Thank you for such a pleasant experience on top of the excellent food.

Tapped on the Lakeshore is not your average bar, offering a unique experience with axe throwing and a selection of 20 craft beers on tap from local and established breweries. In addition to axe throwing, the venue provides various back yard games like corn hole, putting green, connect 4, Kenya, and board games for patrons to enjoy while sipping their beer. The staff act as coaches during axe throwing sessions to ensure everyone has a great time.
Great variety of craft beer. Sam is a great guy serving beer and hosting axe throwing. Definitely a great place to stop if you are in the area.

We are from out of town and had a baptism party here with almost 40 people, including lots of kids. Sam was great and provided excellent service for our large group. The games kept family entertained. Everyone had a great time! Highly recommend this place.

Axe-cellent Team-Building! Our group recently visited Tapped on the Lakeshore for a corporate event, and let’s just say...throwing sharp objects at a wall really brings people together! Sam was an incredible host, coaching us from “liability” to “semi-dangerous” in no time! He kept the axes flying, and the drinks flowing! The laughter was constant, the competition fierce, and we discovered some inner lumberjack in all of us! Thank you for an amazing evening and the REMAX crew will definitely be back!

What a great place! We went to listen to music and the place truly blew us away. So much to do! There are lots of free games to play along with ones you need to pay for but so much to do. Sam was great and made us feel like we belonged. We definitely hope to be back in the future!

Nice place. This is not your normal bar. One of the big draws is axe throwing. They have 20 or so craft beers on tap from local area breweries to more established names. Other than axe throwing, Tapped has made room for back yard games. Corn hole, putting green, connect 4, Kenya, and a few other unique games. They also have a selection of board games to play while enjoying a beer. The arcade is small, just shuffle board, pinball, and a few other games that will bring back memories to people over 40. For food, they appear to only have pizzas from two of the local favorite pizza makers.

Bar & grill
I am currently assisting in the renovation of Linebacker, a bar and grill establishment that is undergoing an exciting transformation. The remodeling efforts are set to enhance the overall appeal of the venue by introducing additional seating arrangements and expanding the area dedicated to darts and pool. This will undoubtedly create a more spacious environment for patrons to enjoy their time at Linebacker. Alongside its inviting atmosphere, this place boasts a polite and courteous staff who contribute to making customers feel welcome.
Great food and service. Bar area is tight because of the layout but the food is reasonable in price and very good.

Shroom a Swiss burger (with the gravy) is fantastic…including the bun! TOTS are NEVER a bad choice👍🏻 And their wings actually have some chicken on them‼️

In a word: WEIRD. I had never been here before but decided to try this place after consistently poor encounters with a rude waitress at the bar across the street. This place had good reviews and looked like it could be fun (volleyball nets out back and a large patio). Their menu appeared to be decent. My mom and I walked in and were immediately stared at as though we we had just crashed a wedding. Extremely weird and uncomfortable vibe. Clearly a bar full of people who all know each other and don't take well to new people. They just stared at us until we turned around and left. I can't comment on the drinks or the food.

Nice place. Courteous staff. Wasn't thrilled with the pizza burgers , didn't agree with my pallet but overall would recommend

Friendly bartenders with fast service. They made our party feel right at home. The food is also much better than expected! Will certainly return and likely even have another shot of Blackberry Brandy.

Montana Rae’s Pub, formerly known as Tippy's, is quickly becoming a must-visit destination for both locals and travelers alike. Nestled by the water, it offers a delightful dining experience that can be enjoyed after arriving by boat. Guests rave about their mouthwatering double cheeseburgers paired with crispy fries—an ideal choice for game day! The new ownership has breathed fresh life into this beloved spot, ensuring top-notch service and delicious food every time.
Have been here twice while on vacation and definitely going back many more times! Montana makes everything herself. Fresh, delicious food and very friendly service. Honey beer battered flounder was to die for! Burgers are juicy and flavorful. My husband couldn’t put the brat and burger down! Typically has daily specials but also a board with off-menu items. You literally cannot go wrong. We’ve eaten in 10 states this trip and extended our visit here because of the great food and small town vibe here.

I’m not so sure about the reviews as I checked them before ordering for take out…walking in you immediately feel uncomfortable being stared at by patrons “regulars” then, from the other end of the bar, the bartender says “order for take out”, gosh, am I that obvious. The food, yes it was hot but oh my gosh grease logged….I used 3 paper towels soaking up oil from our potatoes, and I really got that old oil taste from everything?? Sent the leftover chicken home with our company bcuz I didn’t want any of it! I won’t return, just wasn’t what I expected from reading most of these reviews!

Stopped in for bloodies and lunch. Bloodies were pretty good...missing a little something? But good. The lady working was very friendly. We both did fish fry and YUM😋 Definitely worth your stop.

Had a great time hanging out in the evening after our fishing. Staff was really nice as were the others in the pub. Had a great time. Fantastic drink prices.

Visiting from Illinois for the weekend. Came here for lunch after bike riding all morning. Food was good, service was great and friendly. Lots of updating happening. Loved Montana Rae's story as the new owner. We purchased some tshirts in support of her journey! Would definitely come back.

Awesome hidden gem!! All the staff are amazingly friendly. The food…. 10/10. Some of the best around to be honest. It’s a small kitchen so be mindful of larger orders. But never the less, they will hustle to get you taken care of. I’ve seen the fryer and kitchen be cleaned every time I’m there. So you know that oil is fresh. Come check it out.

Great fish sandwich! And large deep fried bar menu. First time I had a spicy deep fried cauliflower and loved it.

You always get a friendly waitress there whether it’s Montana or one of her employees and you also get a really good meal. And you are feeling welcome when you’re there one of the best places in town one of the few places to get a nice Smelt supper.!!!
