Historical landmark
The Wisconsin Maritime Museum in Manitowoc offers a deep dive into the area's maritime history, including its shipbuilding legacy and tales of shipwrecks. Visitors can explore the USS Cobia, a World War II submarine similar to those built in Manitowoc, and even spend the night on board through Airbnb. The museum also showcases the rich maritime heritage of the region and its contributions to World War II.
We actually didn't plan to stop here, as we were focused on heading to door co. But Im so glad we stopped! This took us a good 2 hours and everyone was very entertained! Each floor was carefully and thoughtfully curated and was so immersing! We had littles from 6mo to 4yr old, and it was a great experience for all. Definitely stroller friendly!
Pakou L — Google review
The maritime museum was a great experience for the kids and adults. Seeing an actual submarine was a highlight with the self guided tour. It brought history to life. The many different rooms of boats and history of shipping and shipwrecks was a great experience. The water room was a fun stop half way through too.
Katrina G — Google review
The museum is full of wonder information. It is clean and well maintained. The people are very nice. This was our second visit, my husband wanted to return for the submarine tour. Although he did say the person giving the tour didn’t have her info right. And the person selling tickets was confused on which elevator went where, said one went downstairs but didn’t come backup!?
Dave B — Google review
Nice museum with a lot of history about the region and a great collection of model boats. The shipwreck section was very interesting. We did the self-guided tour of the sub and enjoyed it.
Susie G — Google review
Had a chance to visit the Wisconsin Maritime Museum in Manitowoc today along with the USS Cobia which is part of the museum what a learning experience. After checking in at the front desk and getting my receipt for my online ticket purchase which is basically your pass it was right into the exhibits and from the shipbuilding history of the area to the history of shipping on Lake Michigan to the exploration of shipwrecks and the displays of artifacts from some of the famous and infamous shipwrecks the museum really shows you the history of it all. I'm giving you just a brief glimpse of what there is to see and enjoy at the museum there's more than i could possibly list here you will have to come and see it for yourself to really get the full breadth of it. The exhibits and videos in the museum about the USS Cobia and than the tour of the boat itself which you can do with a guide or as I did just walking through the boat from bow to stern just imagining what it must have been like to be on board during WW2. The boat is beautifully maintained and everybody who is responsible for that should be proud and thanked for keeping it that way. Everyone working at the museum that i came in contact with were very friendly and helpful it was a great afternoon. Thanks! A bonus picture at the end of my tour of the Wisconsin to Michigan ferry boat SS Badger had just come in to port.
R H — Google review
Wonderful experience. We did the self guided tour of the USS Cobia using the iPad. We loved being able to take our time and look around. The museum has so many artifacts and interesting history. Parking lot has room for many cars.
Debby B — Google review
Very nice museum. Educational and really puts heart into marine life, ship building, ship wrecks, and history of men and women that had Parr in it all. Touring the USS Cobia is a must while there.
Simply G — Google review
Was here on a scouting trip and the simulator and rock tumbler thing was very fun tour guide told all the stories especially; the cobia is made of metal and i am not 😢, highly recommend to anyone in the area

Step into a delightful time capsule at Beerntsen's Confectionary Inc, a family-owned gem that has been crafting sweet treats since 1932. This charming establishment continues to use traditional candy-making techniques, including copper kettles and wooden paddles, ensuring each confection is made with love and care.
Transport yourself back to a simpler time and visit Beerntsen’s in Manitowoc. It was originally founded in 1932 by Joseph Beernsten and remain a family owned business until 2003. The new owners, Dean Schadrie and his family have a background in making chocolate and stated that they would keep it the exact same. I had not been here since I was probably in my early teens and 30 years later it was everything I remembered growing up. I was even able to get the same sundae, the Teddy Bear, that I got as a child, and it was EXACTLY as I had remembered. Even the menu was the same! They have 32 different sundae options for you to choose from. They also have a small lunch menu. Afterwards I had to get some chocolates and taffy. It was a wonderful experience and walk down memory lane. For more reviews, follow us on Instagram and Facebook @gbdiningdykes!

Wife's favorite place in town when we come here. Excellent candy choice and limited food if you want it. Always a homey feeling to it. Quaint. Bought the angel food chocolate and some fudge.
Plainsman 5 — Google review
Awesome chocolate and ice cream. Great chocolate taste and nice choice. It was great to see a store which is open from 1932 and the chocolates had some nice flavors. Allie helped me select the right variety of chocolates.

What an amazing place! Chocolates made right here in Manitowoc. Beautiful decor, great ambiance and delicious treats! I highly recommend, and will visit here again.
Tim F — Google review
This shop is a step back in time. The beautifully cared for booths, mirrors, candy cases and tiles are a treasure. The many varieties of treats brought joy to everyone in our group. The hardest part was deciding what to pick. We will definitely have this on our repeat list when we visit the area again.
Katrina G — Google review
Definitely a time capsule candy and lunch spot for generations of family to enjoy! Located in downtown Mantiwoc!
Noucheng T — Google review
We stopped to get ice cream and decided to have lunch too and it was fantastic! The menu had grill cheese sandwiches with many cheeses and meats to pick from. Their tomato bisque was the perfect pairing with a grilled cheese!!! The bread was phenomenal! The entire inside had wooden counters, display cabinets, benches, arches from years and years ago. It was beautiful. We had a scoop of apple pie ice cream ❤️. We will definitely be back!!!

ETA Just tried their new Dubai chocolate bar and oh my goodness it's delicious!! We've been coming to Beerntsen's in Manitowoc for decades and now we are lucky to live nearby so we can keep trying new treats. The employees are friendly and attentive and the place is nostalgic and historic, with gorgeous woodwork. We're looking forward to continuing to enjoy all that Beerntsen's has to offer.

The ferry features bar and dining services, famous Badger Bingo, a gift shop, museum, open-air decks, kids activities, games, and the option to rent a stateroom for added comfort. Big ship! More fun! Such a great trip! Deck side was awesome. Badger Bingo and trivia a lot of fun. Breakfast was great. Snacks, drinks, bingo, movie, museum, and awesome views of lake Michigan!
Scott H — Google review
The car ferry to Manitowoc was great! Not what I expected at all but still a great and amazing experience. The kids came with and even with 4 kids the trip was successful, I would do this again!
Hope S — Google review
What a great way to cross Lake Michigan. There is no other place to ferry on a coal-fired, steam-driven ship in North America. Friendly crew, easy, open and comfortable accomodations. She has a couple lounges and cafes as well as a children's play room, video arcade, movie theater, state rooms, museum, gift shop and plenty of deck space. Oh, did I mention BINGO! Free to play with fun souvenir prizes. Todd was a great bingo master. Thanks Todd! I had never sailed on a steamship before and the sound and rhythm of the ship was soothing. I dozed off a couple of times along the four hour sailing. Simply sitting on deck on a starboard bench feeling the drone of the engines lulled me into a deep sleep. Anyway, highly recommend a journey on the SS Badger before she's gone. It's well worth it.
Brad S — Google review
This could be 10 logs lashed together with an old sheet for a sail and it would still beat driving through northeast Illinois. Relaxing with a beer while gliding across Lake Michigan > Chicagoland traffic. Ludington is a very nice place, too. If I could do it over I’d plan to stay there for the night after disembarking.
Andrew W — Google review
The last of its kind! A must do for any visitors to the area. The Badger is the last if 14 railroad ferries the crossed lake Michigan. It’s old yet charming. The ship is massive and a great outing for families or friends. $63 for a shoreline cruise includes an all you can eat buffet with non alcoholic beverages included. Great for sure seeing the shores of the Manitowoc area! If ferry your car to/from Ludington MI

Food was awesome... strawberry rhubarb burger was🔥. The cheese curds and raspberry balsamic dipping sauce was so good. We enjoyed the fries with feta and tzatziki sauce. We also got a chicken salad wrap , pulled pork and a grilled chicken sandwich which were also good.

One of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. Cheese Curds were THE best we’ve ever had. And the burger?! Insane. Do yourself a favor & upgrade your fries. They even split the meal for us and gave us a prime window seat!! 10/10!!

My husband and I tried this for date night and wow!! This place is amazing! The drinks were top notch and the food was absolutely perfect!! To top it all off the waitress was so kind and friendly! We can’t wait to go back!
Dallas F — Google review
The food is amazing at this place but what really stood out for me was their willingness to accommodate me on the patio on a chilly fall evening because I had dogs. They said to call when I arrived and someone would seat me outside. The waitress was super sweet even though she had to come out in the wind and chilly temperature, never once making me feel bad for being out there. She was attentive and made outstanding recommendations. Thank you for such a pleasant experience on top of the excellent food.

We had a couple of drinks, and we had lunch. I was super impressed by every facet of our visit. The bartender was very professional and friendly. The Manhattan was delicious! The sandwich was very delicious. Impressive. Beautiful facility. I would definitely recommend this place.

Cedar Crest Ice Cream Factory & Parlor is a must-visit flagship ice cream parlor located in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. The iconic and massive fiberglass cow named Bernice welcomes visitors to the main location where they can enjoy over 80 flavors of delicious Wisconsin ice cream. With 32 hand-dipped flavors available, guests can savor Cedar Crest ice cream, sherbet, or frozen yogurt in cones, sundaes, malts, and other tasty treats.
Delicious ice cream! We live in Florida, and every year when we come up here we make it a point to have Cedar Crest ice cream at least once! Their ice cream is always creamy, their quality control superb; and from their wide variety of flavors, we've never tasted a bad one. As you can see from the photos, I brought along a box of Pocky to put on top. (It was SO good!)
Tiana R — Google review
Cheap ice cream! Since this is a store front with the plant in the back the prices are very reasonable and the yummy ice cream is fresh. This is a small store front with seating for about 20. Outside the a several picnic tables and a good size grassy space to enjoy your selection I. The shadow of a huge cow! During our summer visits the outside area is well used and the line is out the door. If you love icee cream this is a must stop and only a couple of blocks form Lake Michigan.
Mark R — Google review
The OG ice cream of Wisconsin We love the ice cream flight, especially pineapple upside down cake and dump truck, and these flavors are only available here in Manitowoc
Alvin C — Google review
So many choices of flavors! I would like to see a QR code on the signs outside and as you come in to go to each flavor and explain what it is. When you get up to the counter, you don’t want to take too much time figuring that all out. There are options for drinks as well. I have really enjoyed each flavor I have tried. Kids love getting a picture with the cow statue outside.

Dali's Cafe, an American restaurant, offers a wide selection of breakfast and lunch options. Their menu includes specialty dinners on Friday nights as well. All dishes are freshly prepared using high-quality ingredients and can be customized to your liking. The chicken fried steak and eggs dish is particularly enjoyable, accompanied by perfectly seasoned home fries that are crispy cubes of potatoes. The atmosphere at Dali's Cafe is pleasant with comfortable seating and friendly service that ensures quick dining experience.
I’m from New York City, and let me tell you, Dali’s Cafe in Wisconsin could easily hold its own back home! The atmosphere is just beautiful—cozy yet stylish, with a welcoming vibe that makes you feel right at home. The service is top-notch too; everyone is so friendly, it’s like they’re genuinely happy to see you. The location is also super easy to find, which is a nice bonus. Now, let’s talk food: the coffee is spot on—just the way I like it, strong but smooth. The eggs were cooked to perfection, the fruit was incredibly fresh, and the pancakes? Absolutely delicious. Light, fluffy, and just the right amount of sweet. If you’re looking for a great breakfast spot, Dali’s Cafe is a must-visit!
Alex B — Google review
Dali's is an awesome find! We are out of towners looking for a breakfast spot. The atmosphere of an old bank is gorgeous, making it a feast for the eyes. The food was spot on. Bacon cooked to perfection, and cinnamon French toast with fresh strawberries was delicious! Scrambled eggs were fluffy, and coffee hit the spot. Husband enjoyed his Western omelet and homestyle potatoes and loved the coffee. Service was fast and friendly. It wasn't very busy when we dined, giving us extra time to sit and enjoy the atmosphere.
Amy S — Google review
The atmosphere here is beautiful, but unfortunately the food did not compare. I ordered a scrambler with onions, peppers, and mushrooms but there was barely any of the toppings inside. The hashbrowns were alright but the pancakes were just not good. They had a sour taste to it which was off-putting, and I think they must’ve used yogurt when making them or something. But I didn’t want to finish them. Overall would not recommend for the price point.
Faith F — Google review
Had breakfast here before going to the Manitowoc farmers market on a Saturday morning. This is not necessarily a complaint, but portions are on the small side. Everything else was great. The building is so cool that I would go back and I can recommend.
Simply G — Google review
The atmosphere is great, the waitress was nice, the service was very slow. I did not like the beef noodle soup. It was very bland. The Italian panini was really good, the fries tasted terrible (like old grease). My quick lunch date with my kid was not at all quick. Probably will not revisit.
Jessi F — Google review
The restaurant is very clean, great decor, and vibe. It might have been a fluke, but when I visited with my sister on Mother's Day, we did not receive acceptable service and the food was cold. We saw our server after 10 minutes at the table, brought our drinks and took our order, and then 40 minutes later were served cold panini pressed sandwiches. Both of us didn't want to finish our food, but it was another 35 minutes before we saw our server to ask for a box or the bill. We did speak with the owner at the register but was offered no apology or resolution. I would give them another chance, but not on a busy day. Just seemed like the staff became overwhelmed and we were missed.
Katie P — Google review
Atmosphere was quiet and serene with piano music playing gently in the background. Service was excellent, and menu choice extensive. Food quality was good, portions weren't huge but adequate. Sign outside was enough for me to love this place even more, how caring to others!
Bikes W — Google review
Beautiful building and the staff were phenomenal. There wasn't anyone there so we got the best experience and service. The food wasn't all that great unfortunately. It's the same exact food that Three Seasons and/or Fork and Knife serve but more expensive. Other than that it was a nice time.

Harborside is a nostalgic supper club in the neighborhood that offers daily specials on food and drinks. It has a vintage ambiance and is a popular choice for birthday dinner celebrations. The restaurant has friendly and welcoming staff, including an attentive bartender who serves delicious dirty martinis. The waitstaff is efficient and always smiling, ensuring a satisfying dining experience. The food at Harborside is exceptional, with everything made to order and customizable.
Visiting from out of state on a weekday and we were looking for a nice restaurant close to the lighthouse. We were greeted right away, very friendly staff. Drinks and food came in good timing. The duck wontons were amazing and obviously homemade. I ordered a ribeye with steak fries and creamy chicken and rice soup. The steak was perfectly cooked and very tender. Great experience.

12/26/24 6pm. Unusual layout throughout. Busier than expected. We had reservations, but delayed, though it worked out. We were in a private room shaped like home plate and I saw another rectangular. All the food turned out well. Hot butterscotch drink and Point pistachio beer were great choices. Bartender knew his stuff. No need to single him. He knew you were there and was efficient. Seemed like locals and travelers with pleasant conversations. Good Cajun chicken.

We shared chicken Mac & cheese. It was tasty however, the chicken was tough and rubbery. The bartender made a nice mocktail for me. Our server was pleasant and seemed concerned that we were happy.

Last night, I had a delightful experience at Moore's Irish Pub. I want to commend both the bartender and the cook for their exceptional service. Despite being short-staffed, with a waitress calling in sick, the bartender worked tirelessly and flawlessly. The drinks were of excellent quality, and the food was simply amazing. What impressed me the most was that both women wore smiles throughout the entire evening. The atmosphere at Moore's Irish Pub is great, providing a divine dining experience.
Great Irish Pub with a nice selection of whiskies. Love the food especially the Irish Stew and the Shepherd's Pie! Both are very tasty! The restrooms were clean. The staff was friendly and prompt, the pricing is competitive. Will enjoy going back here many times!
Arlen B — Google review
Was craving some English/Irish meals since being away from the U.K. We decided on the classics. Bangers and mash and Shepherds pie. It was a terrible choice for both sorry to say. Guinness beer gravy wasn't good at all. Tasted like butter and beer which made us nauseous. The meals arrived in small bowls and looked and smelt like throw up from a hard night of partying. Sorry, don't mean to sound so graphic about it all but that's the best way to describe the meals placed in front of us. I was expecting a plate with peas on the side and the bangers next to the potatoes with a little gravy on top. But when it arrived we got what looked like a KFC gravy bowl with sausages swimming in gravy. The Shepard's pie was the same. A scoop of meat, canned veg, and a questionable potato mashed all together and swimming in gravy with a soggy piece of bread pushed to the side. Both bowls had been topped with chives or green onions to make it look appealing. It didn't help. Both meals took 30 minutes to reach our table, even though it was very dead. The atmosphere seemed decent. No windows. A few casino machines. That was sort of like the U.K. Our server was a very nice young lady who was very chatty with us and attentive. I'd like a refund if the owner could get in touch that'd be great. I didn't want to demand or ask for a refund to our nice server. We took 3 bites each and both got incredibly sick as I suspect the gravy is made from butter, which didn't mention anything on the menu. The server wasn't sure either. We both can't have butter. So it was a bit of a waste.

Well the people here certainly are not diverse so we received many looks/states when we walked in. Drinks were great and cheese curds were delicious and spicy!! I will come back for those. Different rooms, different types of tables/chairs for comfort. Music, & games available for fun.

We really wanted this place to reflect the reviews we read. Unfortunately the food was not good. The fish was burnt the French dip was made with low grade grocery store roast beef and the mashed potatoes were luke warm. I would not recommend this establishment for dining.
William D — Google review
Tried Moore's Irish Pub May 11th - the best deep fried onion rings in both my and my boyfriend's life. He tried the Reuben sandwich, which was spectacularly on point to him. I tried the Shepard's pie, oh my goodness it's amazing the quality food this little Pub is producing. Not to mention the fun and clean atmosphere, and entertainment like free Trivia Tuesdays with TJ! Needless to say we returned two days later, ordered onion ring appetizer and it was as amazing as the first time. Each ring evenly battered, fried to golden perfection, not limp or greasy at all. Devoured those immediately and contemplated ordering a second app before our meal. I ordered Shepherd's pie again, meaty, saucy, savory and filling. My boyfriend ordered their Portabello wrap at the recommendation of the manager Heather, and he could not stop raving about how delicious it was (I'm talking several days)! So twice in one week we've been pleasantly surprised at magnificent food and fun. And after each meal we grumbled about how we didn't get any pictures for a review, haha. We returned the following Tuesday May 18th, on a mission of good food and to actually snap a picture or two for you! We ordered our staple onion rings app and of course these rings are magazine quality. Third time's a charm, do I even need to tell you the Shepard's pie was incredible? My boyfriend got the Pastrami sandwich, crispy toast, gooey cheese, sliced meat, inspiring. By the way, these sandwiches come with fries on the side and the fries are as fantastic as the onion rings. I'm not sure that a simple 5 star rating can fully encapsulate how much appreciation and pride the employees working at Moore's Irish Pub have for their job and work place. They make you feel welcome and give you many reasons why you want to come back time and time again.

Oh my goodness. We've lived in Manitowoc for two years, and this is the best food we've found so far. I got a pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw on it, and I don't even have words to describe how delicious it was. My husband got a Reuben, and I have never seen so much meat, sauerkraut and sauce on a sandwich. He absolutely loved it! Even our daughter's simple grilled cheese was fantastic. And the people who work here are so friendly! And the Irish atmosphere is awesome. This is a place we'll come back to!

We dined in last evening and would love to complement both the bar tender and cook!! The bar was full and there were people dining as their waitress called in sick. The bartender was running her butt off and she never missed a beat!! The drinks were top notch..the food amazing!! And above all both women smiled the entire evening!! We will definitely be back! Great atmosphere Divine dinner!!! Thank you both!!

Best Irish pub in Manitowoc! We're very happy to see Moore's. We love the food, the beer line, and the AmÉirecann flavor of the place. Good Irish music, good craic. Could do with a wider selection of whiskey, but they've got the go-to's anyway. Darts and billiards in a lounge area in the back as well. Nicely executed!

Nestled in a somewhat secluded area yet conveniently close to downtown, Late's is a charming eatery that captures the essence of a classic greasy spoon. Known for its delicious burgers and crispy fries, this spot offers quick service that keeps patrons satisfied. Diners rave about the quality of food and the friendly atmosphere, making it an ideal stop for those exploring Manitowoc County. Whether you're craving comfort food or just passing through, Late's promises a delightful experience without breaking the bank.
This is a wholesome, old school place. I felt as if I was visiting an old friend. Clean, very inviting and busy. At least on Sunday mornings. They have free parking. I appreciate that. The location might not look like much, there's no sign on the building,I passed it twice. But once you get inside that's another story. Very lively. I recommend it. Good price (cash only) Good food Good service Clean 👍🏻👍🏻

This is a perfect little greasy spoon type of place. The food was good and the service was great! Burgers, fries, curds. Delicious! Also fairly inexpensive.

One of the all-time greats. If you’re ever in the Manitowoc area, this is a must stop for an old school diner with amazing food. Great burgers, I love the perch sandwich, amazing fries, cheese curds, you name it! And, you have to sit at the counter. It’s the only way to do it.

Late’s is a great little spot tucked away in what feels like the middle of nowhere, but it’s still close to downtown. The food was really good and came out super fast, which I appreciated. The younger girl working the front seemed like she was doing most of the work and really kept things moving. The older lady didn’t seem as helpful and mostly stayed out of the way. Still, the burger was worth the stop, and I’d definitely come back next time I’m in town.

Prices are good for the area, service is good, food is just great. One of the best burgers you'll get in Manitowoc. Their other food is good too, though I don't personally recommend the onion rings or cheese curds. The ring batter isn't real great and the cheese curds are drowning in grease every time I get them, it's a little overwhelming. But that's really my only gripes. Also, cash only, but there is an ATM in the entryway.

It was the first time my son and I ate here. My son goes to MLHS, and football training has started. I goggle mapped restaurants to find a place we haven't been before. I'm glad we found this place. This place has been around since 1948. They offer homemade soup and desserts. The prices are very reasonable. If you're looking for a good old-fashioned greasy spoon, this place is it! I noticed an old malt machine on the back counter. They have a sit-up bar to eat at. They don't take cards, yet there is an ATM available. I definitely suggest that if you are looking for an old-fashioned greasy spoon, this is one to try. I'm glad we made a stop here, and we will be back again. Oh, we brought home a torte and piece of chocolate cake. Can't wait to eat them. 😋

OUTSTANDING local restaurant! The malts were top notch, the stuffed pepper soup was...WOW. I had the brat and my husband and daughter had the grilled ham and cheese - MUST GET THESE! I had the warm German potato salad was DELICIOUS! Can you tell we loved Late's?!

Stopped in for a quick bite while in Manitowoc. I have been here before, but it was 5 or so years ago. Great menu and many options. The server was very helpful and there were quite a few people that had come in for carry out. Service was fast and food was good. I tried the pork sandwich, fish sandwich and their made from scratch onion rings. All three were delicious and filling. I would highly recommend Late’s to those seeking casual fare.

Fork & Knife Restaurant is a charming family eatery that offers well-prepared homemade meals in a pleasant and relaxing atmosphere. While it can be hit or miss at times, the restaurant is known for its friendly staff and delicious breakfast options, including generous portions of omelets and classic diner fare like country fried steak and French toast. With affordable prices and a welcoming ambiance, this restaurant is a great choice for those looking for a satisfying meal to start their day.
Very cute restaurant very good service. I’m always leery about restaurants that have menus that are pages long. Overall though if you’re from the area and frequent here, they probably have some of your favorite items that you can’t find somewhere else. I would recommend stop by and enjoying some breakfast lunch or dinner.

Had excellent food here, the servers are polite and efficient. It's a bit loud when full and we've never had to wait more than 5 minutes for a table. My husband is 98% blind and they accommodate him in every way possible. They tell him what side his utensils are on, where his drink is. They let him know when they are approaching and if we're at a table they tell him which side they'll be serving him. I love this place.

Portions were decent, flavor was average. Atmosphere was mediocre. Rated less than 5 stars because the coffee was no very good/weak tea like. I suggest they switch brands or brew it 5' stronger...

It's very difficult to understand the very high ratings this restaurant has received. It was because of those ratings that we chose to dine here on 6/26/2021. We have had better food at truck stops. The exterior of the building is deteriorating, as is the sign. When we walked in there was debris (food and paper) scattered all over the carpet. Those should have been the signs for us to leave. We were assigned one booth but asked for a different one because the seat was worn past the pleather to the lining. (See picture) To the restaurant's defense the server stated the interior is being renovated in July. Hopefully the menu and cooks will get an overhaul as well. We ordered the Holiday Combo to share. A 10oz. ribeye, 2 pieces of broasted chicken and 4 fried shrimp. It came with a choice of soup or potatoes. We both had the cream of broccoli soup-consistency of wallpaper paste and about as tasty. As were eating our soup, the server decided to vacuum the carpet, not a good idea when people are dining. I also ordered mashed potatoes. Server stated that they are homemade. The texture felt homemade but totally missed on flavor. The veggies that came with the meal came right from a can. They didn't even look good, neither of us touched them. The chicken leg was hilarious it was about the size of my thumb! Sadly, they broasted the chicken leg and breast together so both were extremely overcooked. They did get the ribeye cooked to the proper temp but didn't have any flavor. It just looked lost in all the other disasters. My wife said the shrimp was okay. Even her coffee was bad. When our server asked how we liked our meal, we were honest. "You didn't even like the soup?" Was her only response. On my way out I used the Men's room. I had to not breath as the urinal was "very ripe" if you know what I mean. I'm glad I don't live in this town....

Denise F — Google review
The place was nice and tidy and the staff was pleasant. Always on the go and keeping you up to date. You don't even have to ask for service for they tend to keep tabs on every table. They offer a variety of dishes from salads to meat to fish food. The issue would be the lack of description for the meals they offer. My brother requested some terriyaki with shrimp. When he received his food, he received more shrimp than terriyaki. It would've been nice if we could've received more terriyaki to equal it out with the shrimp. Even the rice included in the meal was covered in terriyaki sauce rather than it being in a separate bowl. If we really wanted to ask for changes, I'm sure they would've taken the meal back and offered it the correct way. As for myself I went ahead and purchased a gyro, thinking they would wrap it like a burrito like they do in Rome. I was wrong however. I received the gyro as if it was half a Taco Bell crunch wrap. The gyro description said it was "beaf" but it tasted as if it was sausage or lamb so it made me question what they really used. I couldn't use the sauce they offered for when I opened it, it looked old and a majority of the juice was on top. I can't really judge the sauce for I wasn't a fan of the taste so I'll exclude that from this review other than what I saw. Despite their meals their soup and fries are stupendously good! The fries are just right. I didn't taste any of that grease you normally would taste when eating at fast food restaurants. That hot crunchy taste was just perfect. As for the soup, I went ahead and ordered the chicken dumplings and that was superb. Not to hot, not to cold but just right. Some crackers on the side was to have. All in all their service was great but their food, not so much. They do offer their meals in a "fancy" manner but the lack of certain ingredients per meal cuts them short. Think of it as buying a CPO vehicle and the dealer doesn't send you photos of the vehicle. The only time you see it is on the spot at the dealer when it arrives. Kinda like that. You were expecting something like "wow!" but in return was more like "oh..." My family didn't seem to enjoy the food and their pricing seemed to average around $9-$11 a person. If you want to have a family comfort dine in, I would recommend to look somewhere else.

An excellent restaurant for breakfast. They have a full breakfast menu at very economical prices. Fork & Knife serves very generous portions to take you through the entire day. My wife and I both had delicious Omelets. My wife had the Denver Omelet and I built my own with Bacon, Ham, Sausage, with onions and jalapeño and pepper jack cheese and a side order of Bacon.

Absolutely incredible. This unique park is located away from the busy areas of Manitowoc. So many options for climbing, sliding, swinging, imaginative play, monkey bars, etc! Our kids enjoyed this park so very much, and so did we! It is well shaded by surrounding trees. It is fully fenced with one entrance for added security. Had many tables and benches for sitting and watching kiddos play. There are bathrooms available just next to the park. There is a large field with built in grills for cooking meals. We loved this park and will definitely be back upon a future visit!

Really enjoyed visiting this park. The hike can be as strenuous or easy as you want to make it. Lots of wildlife. Scenic views. Kayaking on the river. Eh it’s a tad boring. Not something i’d do more than once. We took the section from Schuette all the way to Lake Michigan. The river turns industrial and then opens to the bay near The Wharf. We actually arrived when the ferry was pulling in, that was worth the experience.

We were in town for the Detroit Lions at Green Bay Packers game. Yea we were disappointed in the game results for our Lions but, we were very impressed with this sports bar!!! The night before the game we visited and asked the bartender if she could put on the Michigan State game for us on one of the TV’s. Of course they did!!! Didn’t make us feel uncomfortable at all!!! Everyone was so nice from the staff to the patrons. Food was good too! Good food, better than regular ‘pub fare’. However, dbl check your to-go orders. They often miss something especially if you request a change, such as a different dressing for your salad. Twice now I’ve had salad with no dressing instead of the dressing I requested.

Never had a disappointing meal. It’s our go to restaurant to meet up with friends . Only thing is they used to have nachos and taco salad available with chicken and they don’t anymore. I don’t eat red meat so I don’t order either one anymore but I use to with chicken.

Service wasn't the friendliest and the cook working was taking forever to make the food just seemed to not care and seemed to had an attitude. Food took about 30 minutes to be cooked even tho it wasn't busy and honestly the food doesn't even look appetizing, the chips for the spinach and artichoke dip are barely cooked, the dip itself looked gross and the liquid was starting to separate, there is barely any sauce on the wings, and the mini tacos look halfway decent. Very disappointing cause the other times i've been there, it's been fantastic

Overall we enjoyed our experience. Since we were visiting several places in Manitowoc we arrived at opening time and did not get to enjoy the live band. Order at the counter, no table service. Limited menu but the food was good. Constructively, if you open at 12 noon the pizza oven should be warmed up and ready to go. Since it wasn’t we waited for 30-45 minutes for 3 orders to be done. The pizza was good but if you want fresh mushrooms you won’t find them here, they use canned. All of us felt the pizzas could have used a touch more time in the oven to finish the cheese. A very nice selection of craft brews! We tried 4 of them and our favs were Reigning Blood and School Milkshake. There is a raised band stand in side and spacious outdoor patio with a nice view of the river. This appears to be an old factory and it’s cool inside. The wooden floor must have 1000’s of stories and the exposed brick and electrical motors are awesome. You’ll be able to see the brewing vessels both upstairs and thru an in floor window exposing the basement. Stop in and enjoy a few cold brews!

First time stopping in and I was very impressed by the quality of the beers and food! Tasting is 5 beers for $20 which is a little steep but everything I tried I enjoyed and the pours are decent. I ordered the chicken tenders and French fry combo. Both were great and did not taste like the typical frozen apps you’d expect when ordering tendies. The chicken tenders tasted REAL and the ranch they come with was also fresh and perfectly balanced. The French fry combo had regular and sweet potato fries. The SP fries are always a gamble but these were delicious - not too thick so they still had crunch. The sauce is amazing! I tasted the following beers and they were all very well done in my opinion. Everyone has their own palette but even the styles I don’t usually drink tasted good. I tried the following beers: 1. Udderly Peachy (Nitro) Peach Milkshake IPA - I’ve never tried a nitro milkshake IPA, but this was great. 2. Southside Amber Lager Lager - Vienna - this was my favorite! Such a unique flavor. It is extremely well done 3. Schnitzky Wheat Beer - Hefeweizen - This was another unique style that had good flavor as well. Definitely got the clove/banana on this. 4. Jake's Malt Lemonade Malt Lemonade - very well balanced on the lemonade flavor. Unlike a summer shandy, you could definitely house 5 of these and not have a sour stomach. 5. Bar Oil Schwarzbier - usually such a dark bier you expect it to hang around on the palette after your first sip but this had a nice smooth finish that doesn’t hang around too long. My favorite was the southside amber lager but I would order each of these again if I had to. Overall a very cool stop on the way up to door county. Love the historical buildings and this definitely kept all of the character and added a lot more!

Always a GREAT stop. Beers are certainly coming around from the first few visits from the Fox Valley. Definitely want to try the beers that came out since we were here last, but not enough time! That active menu (in videos attached to review) is a game changer. So great! Heavy on band atmosphere 365, but not in a bad way. Band that was playing today was really really good! CRIBBAGE!! Great place for a good time and for great beer. My wife and I visited fm out of town and made a stop as we were sampling the local beer scene. This is the place to visit. Terrific location, ambiance, and the beer....the beer we tasted was nothing short of FANTASTIC!!! The Trappist Triple, one of my favorite types of beers, challenged some of the best trappists I have tasted in the past. The Anniversary Quad Bourbon Barrel Belgian had me looking to share it with a juicy steak. It was delicious. The same goes for Got Stout. Very robust in taste. Lastly the Campfire Song was refreshing and a pleasure to drink. Thanks to the staff for the service and to the brew master...Right On. Keep up the great work. We will return. Cheers!!!

Awesome establishment and a big THANKS to the owner and staff at welcoming Metalfest 3 in September 2025. I wish there was a local venue like Petskull Brewery back when I was a young headbanger that featured various metal bands like they do. Had to drive to other areas to see similar acts, so featuring this genre of music for this and next generations is a plus and even better you can enjoy great food and drinks at the same time. Hope the Petskull crew can keep featuring future Metalfest shows like the recent performances or any genre of music that allows patrons to mingle and have a good time in general. 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘👍👍👍👍👍

El Tequila Mexican Restaurant is a must-visit destination for anyone craving authentic Mexican cuisine. With its vibrant atmosphere and friendly staff, it offers an enjoyable dining experience that keeps guests coming back for more. The service is impressively quick, with meals arriving in under ten minutes, ensuring you won't be left waiting long to savor the delicious flavors.
Currently on a taco tour this will be #37 Chips and salsa: The chips were big yellow corn chips and good for dipping. There was no salt on the chips. The salsa was really good, puréed and a hint of heat - 4 Lime Margartia on the Rocks: It was a really good margarita. It tasted like the margarita mix from Costco, which isn’t a bad thing at all - 4 Steak Taco: Flavor: 5 Fullness: 5 Appearance: 5 The steak was chopped up in to nice size pieces and had a nice char on it as well as seasoned really good. The meat did not have any gristly pieces. They use red onions, which is a win for us. The tortillas were nicely fried on the flat top. Chicken Taco: Flavor: 3 Fullness: 5 Appearance: 5 The chicken was made with peppers but it didn’t taste like, but had good flavor. The chicken was moist. The cheese had a very over powering and distinct flavor which took over the taco unfortunately. Service: Everything came out as ordered and was fast - 5 Give us a follow on Instagram @gbdiningdykes

Had the Grilled Chicken Fajitas for Lunch at El Tequila Mexican Restaurant. It was okay not the best flavor. The salsa and chips were good. Didn’t really care for our waiter.

We had a chicken quesadilla and chicken enchiladas. Both were very tasty and nice serving sizes. The chips and salsa were fresh and service was prompt and courteous. The menu was broad with above average choices. We also had the lime margaritas, large on special at $3.99 each. Overall a great value and recommended.

I am currently assisting in the renovation of Linebacker, a bar and grill establishment that is undergoing an exciting transformation. The remodeling efforts are set to enhance the overall appeal of the venue by introducing additional seating arrangements and expanding the area dedicated to darts and pool. This will undoubtedly create a more spacious environment for patrons to enjoy their time at Linebacker. Alongside its inviting atmosphere, this place boasts a polite and courteous staff who contribute to making customers feel welcome.
Great food and service. Bar area is tight because of the layout but the food is reasonable in price and very good.

Shroom a Swiss burger (with the gravy) is fantastic…including the bun! TOTS are NEVER a bad choice👍🏻 And their wings actually have some chicken on them‼️

In a word: WEIRD. I had never been here before but decided to try this place after consistently poor encounters with a rude waitress at the bar across the street. This place had good reviews and looked like it could be fun (volleyball nets out back and a large patio). Their menu appeared to be decent. My mom and I walked in and were immediately stared at as though we we had just crashed a wedding. Extremely weird and uncomfortable vibe. Clearly a bar full of people who all know each other and don't take well to new people. They just stared at us until we turned around and left. I can't comment on the drinks or the food.

Nice place. Courteous staff. Wasn't thrilled with the pizza burgers , didn't agree with my pallet but overall would recommend

Beautiful old building with welcoming decor and staff. Perfect place to grab dinner and have some drinks with friends! Serving staff made the evening very enjoyable, even some impromptu karaoke. Will definitely be returning!

The food is always really good. I had one of their signature burgers with cheese curds. My husband had one of the specials, the phish and chips. Everything was good. There seemed to be only one person working, so it took a while to get our order in and also to get our bill after.

My husband and I had another delicious meal on Friday night. Staff was friendly and service was great! Great menu!
Pauline H — Google review
Don't let the slightly rundown appearance of this place and faded outside sign deter you from stopping in. The staff was so friendly and welcoming. The food choices had really clever names. We ordered the hand-crafted Woodstock black bean burger, and the Smokey BBQ pulled pork sandwich. Both of these selections were absolutely delicious. The cilantro-lime mayo on the black bean burger was tasty and a great choice for a condiment. With that said, I've eaten many black bean burgers, and this was by far my favorite. The pulled pork with their Chipotle Honey BBQ sauce was really tasty and had a slight bite that was really nice. We did think however that our sandwich had just a little too much BBQ sauce ratio to the amount of pulled pork. I gave a 2-star rating for atmosphere as the dining tables share the room with the pool table. While we were eating, a group of 7 pretty loud guys came into play pool. We didn't mind that they were loud and seemed to be having a great time. However, during one shot the pool cue ball came flying off of the table and bounced off of the back of the top of a table chair where the back was towards the pool table. If that chair wouldn't have been there, the cue ball would have landed right in my plate. Not sure if that was just a fluke, or how to work around that, but thought I would mention it in my review. The art and stuff hanging on the walls in the dining room is clever also. We spent a bit of time looking at all of it. We also appreciated the backgammon game as we played while waiting for our food. We would totally recommend this place and will for sure be back to try more items from your really well thought out menu. Your staff was topnotch and say a lot about the management and their great attitude to make people want to come back. Great Job!
C — Google review
The place smelled weird .. like stale smoke. The beer and the carbless were a little bit on the expensive. I like the way the bar is set up. I've had very good food here in the past... the pork tacos are bomb.

This was the first time that I went into this establishment. I was met with a hardy hello, and what can we get you? So refreshing to have such a friendly greeting. I told her I was new to the area and it's the first time I was here. She said welcome! let me get you some menus and what will you be drinking? In no time at all, there it was. Hot and oh so good. Great job to all staff and Cooks. The restaurant as a whole was clean neat and tidy just as the restrooms were as well. Awesome job everyone 👏

Day 3

Proximity is everything
For day 3, we bundled attractions like Manitowoc Lincoln Park Zoo and Rahr West Art Museum and other places within a close range, so that the time it takes to travel between all of them is less than one hour. Combined with the average time people spend there, your day should take about 6 hours.

Zoo
Zoos & Aquariums
Manitowoc Lincoln Park Zoo is a small zoo with free admission, offering a chance to see nearly 200 animals including prairie dogs, bison, wolves, snow leopards, lynx, bald eagles, black bears and rescue cougars. The Education Center houses tropical birds and various reptiles for interactive learning. Visitors can also enjoy the Big Red Barn featuring farm animals like pigs, rabbits and goats on loan from local farmers.
We visited Lincoln Park Zoo. It's a small Zoo but was enjoyable. My favorite was the Eagle n Hawks. Free parking n free entrance but I did donate $4.00. It wasn't busy last Saturday. They do have a play area for kids. Worth a visit if you're in the area.
Donna H — Google review
It is low key, but the grounds are lovely. Unfortunately it appears to be struggling with funding, so many of the exhibits were empty. Those that did have animals, you were able to get great views of them. There is a little playground area for kids, and you can take a nice walk along the lake. It's a great place to relax and walk around, but not if you're hoping to see a lot of "classic" zoo animals. This zoo is much more prairie focused with animals naturally found around North America, which is great to see and learn about, too.
Sarah T — Google review
Delightful "free" little zoo, first time visiting it was a great . it is small but well laid out and it seems it's well taken care of too, the family enjoyed all the animals (the alpacas especially) and the playground , bathrooms are available, no fee as mentioned before but you are encouraged to donate which I personally believe they deserve they're doing a great job in this place . It took us about an hour to see the whole thing but we were being led by a 2 y.o. toddler just fyi .
Erik S — Google review
Free! Small zoo but great day to let the littles run around. I donated to the zoo. It was so tidy and perfect for the family. Especially when on a budget. There was a little area to get the kids to listen and use their senses. Awesome time!
Crystal R — Google review
We love this free zoo. This is a very special place for my family. This is where my husband proposed to me 16 years ago. The animals are very well cared for and the zoo it clean and quiet.
Dena E — Google review
Pretty nice free zoo for the area without having to drive to suamico. It's free, donations suggested at $2 for adults and $1 for kids. Has a nice paved walking path throughout so great for ones with strollers/wheelchairs. Exhibits are smaller so you're more likely to see some of the animals up close. Overall, seemed well maintained.
Irene D — Google review
Cool little zoo, free to enter but suggest $2 donation which seems reasonable for all the animals you get to see and how well the grounds is maintained.
Chris B — Google review
This is an awesome place! FREE entry, with a box for free-will donations. The zoo is small, but very nice and well-kept. Also some great playground/picnic areas. The entire Lincoln Park is quite large, with picnic shelters and more.

The Rahr West Art Museum, housed in a historic Victorian mansion, is a renowned destination for art and education. It has been recognized as one of the '10 Great Places To See Art In Smaller Cities' by USA Today. The museum features rotating exhibits alongside a permanent collection that includes works by prominent artists such as Georgia O'Keeffe, Andy Warhol, and Pablo Picasso.
Lots of interesting history here. It's a great little museum. The Christmas decor was very tasteful. It was neat because they had a little scavenger hunt there. It did not take real long to go through.
MM P — Google review
This is a beautiful home listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Outside are some cool sculptures and a Sputnik crash site display. Inside you’ll enjoy rotating art exhibits and some access to the home as it was years ago. There is no admission. A great place to visit.
Mark R — Google review
Not only is the house itself a great glimpse into the history and grandeur of the late 19th/early 20th century, but it makes amazing use of the sprawling space to highlight artists of multiple genres. Galleries featuring folk non traditional, equine pieces, local artists, pottery/China, scrimshaw/carved ivory, and even an original Georgia O'Keefe full the many rooms and hallways. It also highlights how art is not just what is on a canvas, but the artistry employed by master craftsman of the last and present. There is a self guided tour and many quue cards to be sure that you get a full understanding of the pieces and collections presented. All of this painstakingly preserved and presented art is done so at no cost to the public at entry! I would however be sure to leave a donation, and thank the staff as well for being part of an exhibit that houses culture right in your backyard

A beautiful Victoria Period home is the setting for the Art museum. No charge, but donation accepted. Beautifully decorated for Christmas. Some unusual and attractive art displays , stunning chandelier , and interesting history of the house and its many owners. Friendly staff.

It’s an interesting museum with a variety of paintings, sculptures, and rooms. Personally I would’ve spent maybe 30 minutes top in it, but it’s a nice small town museum.
Faith F — Google review
on the spur of the moment we decided to get off the highway and visit the museum, expecting a quiet, low key visit. We found ourselves in the middle of Sputnikfest 2025 and have the most marvelous time at the fest and visiting the museum! Both were phenomenal!
Qadgop M — Google review
This used to be my favorite museum. To see all the miniature houses, the scrimshaw art, all the porcelain figurines. Now it seems every time I go there more has been hidden away and replaced with nothing but giant murals of past home owners. Entire rooms are now sealed off on the second floor that used to be part of the museum. I used to be able to spend hours walking around and looking at things. The christmas trees, oh my god how sad thats become. What happened to the peppermint tree and all of its decorations that was up every year? And there were only a handful of trees last year? Sad. I dont know who's in charge of all these changes, but it feels like you are emptying the museum for sale. And you know if you do that someone will absolutely ruin that house and its history will be lost. Three stars only because of its historical value. Bring back the art.
FightMeHelen17 — Google review
I really enjoyed this museum. Learning the history of the mansion was very interesting. The art collection is very nice. I was very excited to come across a Stuart Davis and a Warhol piece!!! Very friendly staff. A must visit when in the area!

The Manitowoc-Two Rivers YMCA embodies the essence of community and wellness, rooted in its founding principles from 1844. This vibrant center offers a variety of programs designed to nurture the spirit, mind, and body for individuals of all ages. From engaging swim lessons tailored for children with special needs to diverse recreational activities for youth and seniors, there's something for everyone here. The facility has recently been revamped to create a more spacious workout environment that enhances the overall experience.
I definitely can't talk highly enough about the YMCA here. The staff are always very kind and helpful. They keep the building and equipment very clean! I love the fact that they have a coffee area for people to sit relax and have conversation.
David G — Google review
I joined so my kids and I would have a way to feel a part of our community as we live in the neighborhood but have found over the course of the membership that it does not provide that for us. Instead I felt I was made to pay way too much for something that did not provide any sense of belonging or actual community for my family.

I can't say enough good words about how wonderful our experience was. Lisa and everyone else at the YMCA go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. Thank you so very much. 💕
Niccole H — Google review
The YMCA has been our go to place for swim lessons, childcare and workouts. On all fronts, they do a great job. I do wish they had more openings/classes but that's dependent on staff and size. The workout facility has recently undergone a change which really opened the space up, helping it feel less cramped. If I was to add one more complaint, it would be the WIFI offered. It's painfully slow. While it isn't an issue for those that want to watch something on their phone with unlimited data, being able to stream on WiFi should be an option for those who want to workout to music, or streaming services.

West of the Lake Gardens is a 6-acre botanical garden located along the serene shores of Lake Michigan. Originally acquired in 1934, this picturesque property was transformed from a streetcar right-of-way into a stunning display of flora and landscapes. The gardens feature an array of Eastern-influenced beds showcasing cacti, succulents, roses, and colorful gravel arrangements.
So beautiful! Not sure if I know the right words to describe so bare with me. Flowers were so well taken care of. The roses are gorgeous! Our children especially my daughters almost wouldn't leave.
Simply G — Google review
I got such a sweet sense of nostalgia sitting on the patio of this historic home, overlooking the colorful gardens and the lake view beyond. The pleasant young tour guides referred to Ruth & John as though they were old friends and their stories brought the gardens to life. Some of the potted plants are original to the property and have been lovingly tended for 50+ years. This charming garden is a living memorial to the passions, creativity, and generosity of the original owners.

My first time visiting here. We were here at the peak time for the roses. Absolutely beautiful! With the lake, beautiful, lush grass, and incredible flower beds, I couldn't have been happier! I will be returning at different times of the year to experience all of the different flowers.

"The Elbow Room" is a popular spot known for its friendly and attentive staff. The bartenders are quick to make drinks, and the waitstaff is polite and accommodating. The food is well-prepared, with juicy cuts of meat like the 12 oz. tenderloin and ribeye being standout dishes. The Wisconsin cheese curds, soup, and pasta with vegetables are also recommended choices.
We were in the area to do a 1/2 marathon race. We made a reservation for 3 and were seated. Our server was a polite young girl who got everything we asked for right (not easy because my mom can be a tough nut at times with questions/specifics/sides when ordering, haha). She answered and served everything and dinner was good. We all liked the food/service/atmosphere. I had the Wisconsin cheese curds and soup and pasta with vegetables, and had some leftover for later. Most of the tables in the room had people at them, yet it was not loud.
Nicholas M — Google review
We're just in town for the weekend and were looking for a fish fry. Saw good reviews for here, so we gave it a try. The service was excellent. Even though our server had several tables, she checked on us several times during the meal. The fish fry was okay, not bad don't get me wrong, but it was not amazing. And there was no coleslaw, which is a must for me. The portion for the single Lake Perch was big, I can't imagine eating a double!
Megan W — Google review
I really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. Went out for my birthday with my girlfriend and we were not disappointed at all. The appetizers were great. The special of the day was a french onion tenderloin, 10/10. We did some of the renovation work through my employer there and everything about it is great. Will 100 percent be back. You can tell by the older regulars thats it's the place to be for solid meals and that the owners plan to keep it that way. And also i forgot to mention the old fashioneds 🤫

After hiking the trail, this was an absolutely perfect birthday dinner! We were even greeted (based on a question prior to arriving) with “how were the trails?!” Prime rib, mussels, bread, ham & bean soup, Shaum tort. Staff were spectacular and friendly. Thank you for making this such a great evening!

Had dinner at the E ROOM on 1/29. I rarely give 5 star review but everything was excellent. Drink, food, service was very organized. Plenty of help. We got there at 5PM and the place started to fill up. Our wait was about 20 minutes. Perfect. We'll be back. Heidi our server was great!!

The restaurant's home-cooked meals are delicious and the staff is known for their friendly and hands-on service.
Closest to home cooking we've ever had at a restaurant. Beer battered fried walleye classic, Broasted chicken dinner, burgers and sandwiches. Breakfast ALL day! Server was delightful! Cook even came out to clarify an order. If you like the cosy feeling from throw back nautical decor and getting treated to a good comforting meal and a scratch made dessert this is your happy place.

An older building with worn finishings but welcoming. Generous and delicious Home cooked meals. Our young waitress was personable and friendly. See pictures of the meal and desserts.

Fantastic little out of the way diner. Great food, great service and great value! Highly recommend the fish and chips and the walleye dinner, which we had. 3 large pieces of fish and crispy fries. I had 1 piece of walleye that was big, flakey, lightly battered and cooked to perfection along with a huge serving of hash browns which I order extra crispy and that's exactly how they were done.

Love the skillets, and if you want to try something unique, try the strawberry cream cheese french toast.

I have been to the Galley plenty of times and always had great food and great service.....until today!! Myself and 2 friends went to have a nice early dinner. Waitress never we had never came back to check on us...my food was bad...no refills of our drinks....no dessert offered. We got up to pay but she was no where to be found. Had to wait for her to come back from wherever she was hanging out and no apology for the service or for the wait. Worst experience ever!!!
Kris R — Google review
The Sunday chicken dinner is AWESOME. You can't beat the price! Half of boasted chicken, stuffing, mashed potatoes with gravy, a vegetable and a roll. All for under $10.00! This is our new go to place on Sundays.
Bill N — Google review
The food is good... But the service needs help. There was no one working tonight who was over 20, so there was a lot of loud chatter and goofing off. Our waitress appeared to be new, as she had to ask about certain items. And, she did not come back to see if we needed anything until the meal was essentially over. We'll go back, as there are things I'd like to try. I just hope they can improve the service and/or improve the training. The food gets 4 stars. The service 2.
Phil B — Google review
Service was terrific. That being said, the food was horrible. Belgium waffle was 2 squares, chewy like rubber. Bacon was nasty. Husband had eggs Benedict, it was slop. Eggs were runny, cheese sauce not hollandaise and just ick. We won't be back.

Today I ordered a cake cone and the lady working there came back with a waffle cone I said isn't that a waffle cone and she yup your total is $4.25..i then said but I wanted a cake cone ...she just stares at me and then says that will be $4.25. . unbelievable so I didn't want to fight her and just have her the money. Then she shut the window and didn't return with my change ...I waited. Still nobody...wow. ok then. Very rude and horrible customer service. I go there all the time. And never had this issue. They are usually great but lately the service is disgusting
Ann K — Google review
The bakery that was there was dry and hard. The service wasn't good as (he didn't wait for an actual order we were just asking questions about certain items). Though he offered to remake them we figured it was just a waste to do that. It's a cozy place to sit and talk but it was very warm in there. We're going to go someplace else the next time my girlfriend and I go shopping.
Rhonda K — Google review
What a cute little shop! They were able to make me a decaf iced marshmallow and Carmel latte. We discovered this place after hiking Maribel Caves, it's only 20 minutes away.
Ashley G — Google review
No hot food. Pizzas in other images are frozen for take home only. Had the best espresso shake ever. Will come back when visiting again.
Brian C — Google review
Seemed like a nice place. Had good ice cream. Lady serving was kind of a drag and then one of our shakes was way less full compared to the other and ordered a chai latte and they put coffee in it. Chai tea doesn’t/shouldn’t have coffee unless stated. Disgusting! Edited to add when brought to their attention they did apologize and say that I am correct and it shouldn’t have had coffee in it. They also mentioned retraining their employee.
Clarissa S — Google review
Amazing service and great ice cream! I haven’t tried the pizza yet but am planning on going back soon because this place is awesome.

Day 4

Off the beaten path
For day 4, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Citizen Park. Not quite as popular as Wisconsin Maritime Museum, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 7 hours.

Park
Citizen Park is a top-notch city park with a wide range of activities for visitors. From roller skating areas and basketball courts to multiple grill locations and a picnic area, the park offers something for everyone. The lush grasslands provide a tranquil atmosphere, while the fantastic water park features exhilarating slides and refreshing pools. Families can enjoy swimming in well-kept pools or engaging in various sports activities. For younger kids, there's an awesome splash pad, and hot showers are available for convenience.
Had a really good time here. Lifeguards were nice and watched the swimmers. Clean, not crowded and the swimmers were nice and took turns. About $5 per person. Great value.
Andrew K — Google review
Great place for families. My kids enjoy coming here in the summer. Food is okay. They also offer mini golf, but we never have done it as we are more interested in the waterpark.
Jaclyn G — Google review
For 6 dollar admission, its WELL worth the money. Its clean and the locker rooms were well maintained. The life guards were taking their jobs seriously, which is a major plus. I went yesterday and i couldnt complain at all
Jacqueline S — Google review
Such a fun spot to take kids to. We enjoyed all the fun things to do. The lazy river is fun, the slides are a blast and there’s a awesome splash pad for toddlers. We had a fantastic day! The hot showers to rinse off are a definite plus just remember to bring your travel size shampoo and conditioner if you want to freshen up before you head out. They have a concession stand with lots of different choices to satisfy anyone’s cravings. We did bring some fruit the next time and ate it in the grass, which was so refreshing on a hot day to have some cold watermelon and grapes. This is one of those spots you can keep going back to with the kids it’s totally affordable.

Public swimming pool
The Manitowoc Family Aquatic Center is a fantastic destination for families looking to enjoy a day of fun and relaxation. This vibrant center boasts a heated swimming pool, perfect for splashing around, along with an exciting zero-depth entry area that’s great for younger kids. Thrill-seekers will love the two waterslides—one enclosed and one open—as well as the diving board that adds an extra element of excitement.
A wonderful park; great for the whole family, or a day of fun by yourself! The mini golf course next door is a lot of fun too! The staff are kind and courteous. 😀
Rebekah H — Google review
Great place for swimming, clean facilities, good variety of things to do with lazy river, kiddie pool, kids pool, big pool, slides, and splash pad plus a sandbox. Great for all ages. Concessions are pretty reasonable
Sarah R — Google review
We had a lovely afternoon mini golfing until my six year old needed to use the restroom. We went to the counter to ask if he could use the bathroom and they told us NO because we didn’t pay to use the pool, even though we paid $24 for four of us to mini golf. We definitely won’t be going back as they can’t see that mini golfers should have the same restroom rights as swimmers. Definitely won’t recommend this place to those with small bladders.

USS Cobia

Museum
Historical landmark
The USS Cobia is a remarkable WWII submarine that offers visitors an immersive glimpse into naval history. Originally built in Manitowoc, this vessel stands as a testament to the craftsmanship of its time and serves as a captivating attraction for both history buffs and families alike. As you explore the sub, you'll find yourself wandering through various compartments such as torpedo rooms, sleeping quarters, engine rooms, and dining areas—each space telling its own story of life beneath the waves during wartime.
Visiting the submarine is a unique and unforgettable experience. Learning about the innovation, expertise, and wisdom of the amazing people who designed and built these machines is so interesting. It's also a reminder of the valor, courage and sacrifices made to keep our country free. The other permanent exhibits about shipbuilding and the shipwrecks in Lake Michigan are also fantastic. The interactive water table downstairs is very well-designed and kept out kids busy for a long time. And don't miss the sea lampreys! So much to see and do here. We really enjoyed it.
Jason N — Google review
This was a very well done historical visit. We chose the self guided tour which was informative but effective for the pace so we could look at our own pace. Highly recommend for anyone interested in history and getting a new perspective.
Katrina G — Google review
As a scout that stayed there overnight ON the sub. It was very fulfilling, very worth it. The bunks were super tight but it really gives you that experience. If you’re on the bottom good luck… be careful of your head.
Jonah G — Google review
Let's you know what submarine life was like. Some of our group were getting a little claustrophobic. It's a must see if you are in the area.
Simply G — Google review
It was a great tour it is part of the Wisconsin Maritime Museum and I did a review on the Cobia over at Wiscosin Maritime Museum site.
R H — Google review
Great experience for a Cub Scout overnight outing. Interesting programming that was fun and kept the attention of the scouts and parents.
John H — Google review
Love taking the self-guided tour of the submarine. You will develop a deep appreciation about the seamen had to endure.
Bishop M — Google review
Great history lesson, both of the USS Cobia and the people who served on it. The ship is so broad that you get the impression that it is still in service. Great interaction with former crew members and the rest of the volunteers brings everyone closer to the history and other things related to the ship. Overall, it is a great museum and everything should be done to preserve such facilities for future generations.

Restaurant
The Wharf Manitowoc, formerly known as Tapped on the Lakeshore, is a locally owned taproom in Two Rivers, Wisconsin. It offers 24 craft beers on tap, domestic bottled beers, wine selections, and non-alcoholic drinks. The venue features various games like axe throwing, shuffleboard, cornhole, and more.
Interesting restaurant and pub with a view of the river. Maybe the music is a bit too loud during the day but this is the type of restaurant so it has to be that way. The food /fast food/ is even ok. The decor is also very pleasant, the service is nice but few so it's a bit of a problem to get service. Overall I have positive impressions.
Rich K — Google review
The Wharf came highly recommended and for good reason. The food was delicious and the view absolutely stunning. You go to the kitchen window to order food and the bar to order drinks. We had the perch tacos and the Bee-sting pizza. Both were the perfect balance of savory and a little kick. They have live music most of the time with a large outdoor seating area. Definitely recommend!
Elizabeth M — Google review
the best part of this place was the live music. service was horrible. 4 bartenders on and none of them knew what was going on. food was so bad I made comments about being scared of getting food poisoning the next day. for the price you pay for food and drinks it really should be a better experience. went to cash out and nobody even knew if we had a tab or not. ridiculous customer service and even worse food. go up to the fat seagull a block over for a better experience and edible food
Savannah K — Google review
We stopped for quick lunch by the water. The view was great, but it took 45 minutes to get an order of nachos and cheese curds. It was not busy at all. The only thing I can recommend is the view.
Kathy H — Google review
This venue has quite a variety of live entertainment. We've been here 3 times and enjoyed every show. Great place on the river, very unique setup, service is excellent.
Dale G — Google review
Great place for lunch on the river. The CBR salad, salmon tacos, and the homemade chips were excellent. It was a serve yourself setup, but it didn't bother us. Would definitely go back.
Jeff G — Google review
The atmosphere is pretty good. Nice views right by the water. I definitely wasn't impressed with the service though. The bartender that we had was kind of rude and treated us like we were bothering her.
Chris F — Google review
There is no table side service here. You order your food at the window by the stage and you order your drinks at the bar, like a festival venu. I had the salmon tacos which we terrible. They use smoked salmon which is served cold and extremely salty. They sprinkle a pinch of onion ant tomatoes the drizzle a dill sauce over a single flour tortilla. Not worth $6.00 a taco! Give me some fresh fish for that price. The cheese curds were like chewing fried rubber balls. We had to bus our own table. I asked the bartender what pilsners they had in stock. She said they have no pilsners! WHAT?? there was Miller, bud etc right in front of you! Train your staff before giving them a bartending license! For the price, treat yourself somewhere worthy, not here.

Nestled in the heart of Manitowoc, Westfield Bar is a delightful blend of charm and camaraderie. With its meticulously maintained horseshoe pits and spacious indoor and outdoor areas, it’s the perfect spot to unwind. Known for its vibrant atmosphere, this classy dive bar offers an impressive selection of drinks that keep patrons coming back for more.
I love all the bartenders that work at Westfield. My favorite is a cute little one with dreads. She always makes me smile. And if I go in alone always have great conversation with her.

The prices here are amazing. The staff I conversed with were awesome. The sound system for the jukebox was outstanding. The only improvement I would suggest is to carry either Angry Orchard or Redd's Ale. If they served either of those I would up it to 5 stars.
