Nature & Parks
New Castle Battery Park is a dog-friendly urban park with riverfront views that is open to the public during daylight hours. The park has a rich history, having been fought over by the Dutch, Swedes, and English. Visitors can explore historical sites, attend festivals, and take leisurely strolls through the park. It features a great walking path and allows dogs on leashes.
Awesome park! I had the best time here with my dog relaxing by the Delaware walking along the river, having ice cream, and learning about some history about slavery, underground railroad, and the ships that docked here.
Jenise H — Google review
This park is absolutely beautiful and peaceful. It's very clean and kid and pet friendly! They have bathrooms as well. You can't go onto the small like beaches there but you truly wouldn't want to anyway. There's a very new/updated park and a trail. You can rent bikes there as well. Not far from the park are cute shops, ice cream stores n restaurants. It's in Historic New Castle!
Michelle P — Google review
Great picnic spot for the family. Lots of shade. Great bike or walking trail along the water with spots to sit and relax. Bring your dog to play in the grass or splash in water. Exactly 6 mile bike ride on Jack A Markle trail to waterfront parking area. Great ride with good shade.
David K — Google review
I've been coming here for years. Due to the large amount of geese it's almost impossible to walk on the track, poop everywhere!!!! I've never seen anything like it. It's absolutely disgusting and unsanitary I watch employees ride by in golf carts 1-2 times per month , .look at the trash cans just collecting a paycheck . This place I'm turning into a dump!
Shannon R — Google review
Battery Park has been my favorite since I was a kid! The playground, the walking trail, it’s always awesome! One of Delaware’s best! The water may not be pretty and blue, but it’s still so serene. My latest trip included a beautiful bald eagle!

We love to come here and walk along the river. They recently redid the sidewalk and it was easy for us to roll a power scooter along. Easy walk from the town green

I love being @ Battery Park because of my childhood & teenager memories 🫶🏿I now make memories with my children & grandchildren & I love it!🫶🏿❤One of my favorite part about the park is the boardwalk. This day the tide was so high & I loved it.
Inez J — Google review
The park is at the end of a nice colonial town - think Williamsburg but more approachable - and looks across the Delaware River. To the north you can see the Delaware Memorial Bridge and it is quite a sight. The park is long and nicely kept. There is a path that begins at the park and continues downriver for maybe 2 miles (could be more). Along this trail are some beaches, wetlands, and constant views of the big river. A lovely place to spend time on a nice afternoon.

Guided tours are offered from April to December of this storied 1730s mansion with a quaint garden.
To enjoy this museum you must get a ticket at the Welcome Center. The ticket also includes a tour of the Dutch House. The guide tells a lot of neat stories about the houses and the settlement. The tour was about 2 hours. You can buy tickets in advance or at the welcome center which I recommend cause they show a neat informational video before.

We were able to catch the last 20 minutes of a period cooking demonstration. The volunteers were lovely, they gave out some cool recipes and love conversing about the colonial times. We just happened upon the right Saturday in the month in March

This was so fun! Staff extremely pleasant and helpful. He did not appear to mind while my youngest lounged and did not care at all about history. Beautiful way to spend a weekend.

This museum is next door to my parents house. Yes right next door. They look from their home into the garden. It is beautiful. In the garden is a little outhouse with pictures and history. The house is worth a visit though short and sweet. Sometimes I just go to the garden and sit and enjoy the weather.

This 1730s Georgian mansion, the Amstel House, was built by wealthiest landowner, Dr. John Finney. It features original woodwork, fine architectural details and an open hearth. A governor lived here; Delaware Signers of the Declaration of Independence stopped in here to meet with friends; George Washington attended a wedding in the parlor. Special events include A Day in Old New Castle (May), The Hauntings Tour (October) and Spirit of Christmas (December). Walk-in, guided tours are available April 1 - December 30. Museum hours: Wednesday - Saturday 10 am - 4 pm. Amstel House tours begin at 10 am, Noon, and 2 pm. Sunday, 12-4. Amstel House tours begin at Noon and 2 pm. Tours are approximately 45 minutes.

The New Castle Court House Museum, a National Historic Landmark dating back to 1732, is a significant site showcasing Delaware's history and featuring exhibits on the Underground Railroad. As the state's first courthouse and capitol, it played a pivotal role in Delaware's formation and independence. Guided tours offer insightful narratives about the museum's rich history. While exploring New Castle, visitors can also pick up informative handouts about local houses and the cemetery with details on notable figures buried there.
AMAZING! So worth a visit because of the immense amount of history in and around the building. The tour guide, Kim, is a library worth of knowledge while also making it fun. Even though I was the only person there for a tour she put 100% of her effort in. Stop in just to talk to her.
Rachel S — Google review
Beautiful building with a very interesting history! The person working there was very kind, knowledgeable, and helpful. The information on the website was a bit confusing about the hours and unclear about how to get a tour, so you might want to call ahead to make sure you have that info. Also, the Sheriff’s House is closed in the winter, so check to see when it’s open for the season if you’d like to see that.
Pamela — Google review
What a fantastic informational tour. I highly recommend this venue. It’s definitely worth your time. Lots of history.
Mel D — Google review
Knowledgeable guide led us thru the history of the museum. Please note the hours before you go. They only open the site for the tours, so if you miss the entrance time, you’ll have to wait until the next tour time. It’s free and well worth it. Lots of history told in an accessible way. Kids were entertained. Also worth just walking around New Castle. The Museum has handouts with information about the houses in town and the layout of the cemetery with history about the notable people buried there. Unfortunately, there are many stairs inside making the upper floors not accessible. There is a number to call to set up a ramp for entry for anyone using a wheelchair. Inside the courtroom (first floor) there is space and a ramp that allows access to one of the wings. Plenty of street parking.

Allison was a fantastic tour guide. It was informative and not boring. Came in on a Saturday in March at 3. The hour went so quickly. I don't typically like museums but I did like this visit.

Really great museum. They provide free tours until 3 pm. Our guide (it was Thursday,  April 6th) was very passionate about the court house museum and provided a lot of information. The museum is not big but has a lot of great exhibitions. Definitely recommend for everyone even for kids 5+ And don't forget to walk around  - it's a great old town around the museum.
Galyna S — Google review
This is the museum you want to visit when you're in the Wilmington/New Castle area. It is packed not only with the history you've heard (Constitution, Declaration of Independence, etc.), but also with compelling personal stories of Delawareans, famous and otherwise. My son and I visited the museum on a trip coming north from Virginia and were pleasantly surprised. At first we misunderstood a bit, thinking it was self-guided, but our very knowledgeable and pleasant tour guide did let us sort of proceed at a quick pace, as we were on a time schedule. I appreciated how they were flexible for the out-of-towners. On a busy day they might not have that luxury, but it went to show they'd help patrons as best they could. Certainly a five-star experience!

Opening the door of the Moz'Art Gallery is like entering a fabulous world made out of art, stories, history, colors and especially beautiful and interesting oil paintings and portraits. Dennis Young is an extremely talented and sensitive artist with great technical skills. Each of the portraits he has painted has an hidden story that is waiting to be discovered. I am so honored he painted also my oil portrait. The picture captures my personality and my look perfectly, and the colors are so harmonic and calming. I really feel and see myself in this painting. This is an amazing gift you can do to yourself or to your loving ones. If you are looking for an artist for your oil portrait, you need to go to the Moz'Art Gallery and meet Dennis Young with his energetic personality. In his gallery you will also find other beautiful oil paintings representing the picturesque Historic New Castle Town and other Delaware and Pa locations, perfect to decorate homes with a wonderful local atmosphere. Don't miss this hidden jewel of Historic New Castle and the amazing artist working inside.

Dennis Young's Mo'zart Art Gallery in New Castle is a delightful gem, especially during the 4th Friday Art Loops. His paintings depicting Historic New Castle are like a journey through time, capturing the essence of this charming town, with the addition of modern and often whimsical (cough-pirates) touches. His beautiful portraits and Terry's textile art make Mo'zart a must-visit.

I'm sorry to say that for two years my wife and I walked PAST Mo'zArt Gallery while strolling through Historic New Castle thinking "How good can it be?" What fools we were! One day, on a whim we walked in, met the artist/owner Dennis Young and were floored by the stunning, art on display. I wish I was better at describing how Dennis' art reached deep into our hearts....you simply have to see it for yourself. Throw into the mix Dennis' engaging personality and simply let it all flow over you! Trust me, you're going to love this gallery and it's artist/owner.

This historic ticket booth in New Castle's Battery Park dates to 1832. For a brief period, the train line serviced by this ticket booth provided the best connection between Philadelphia and Baltimore. Later used as a flagman's booth, it's been located in the park since the 1950s.

What a great spot! The area is exceptional for easy walking and taking in an abundance of Colonial-era history. The parking is well marked with ample access for cyclists, strollers, walkers, wheelchairs and scooters. The historic markers are well placed and in February, the curbs snd gutters were spotless. No litter and no graffiti make this wonderful attraction in a National Park well worth the visit. It can be very crowded in the area so choose your day and time to visit carefully. If you want to eat at the nicer places in the area you MUST have a reservation.

Great colonial style town with several agencies preserving their history. We did a self guided walking tour then got a great storytelling-style tour in the courthouse. This was a good stop for us on our way back to Philly from Annapolis.

This historic site is located and preserved in New Castle and next to Delaware river. This historic marker is located at the north end of New Castle Battery Park and currently, a ticket booth is retained at the sight of the marker. Being just adjacent to park and river, a great place to spend some time.

Site of one of the first operational railroads in the United States. Very little here except a restored or replica ticket booth and rails on the ground enclosed by a picket fence. It is unclear if the rails are original or replicas as well.

The New Castle Visitor Center at The Arsenal is a must-visit for history enthusiasts and architecture lovers. The center offers an engaging overview video, insider tips, and walking tour maps to explore the well-preserved town of New Castle. Visitors can enjoy stunning architecture, beautiful gardens, the oldest house in town, and even ghost stories. Additionally, historical reenactment days provide an immersive experience with townsfolk dressed in historical garb.
This was an amazing tour. My Guide Jackie was phenomenal. She is an artist in her craft. She provided the most beautiful journey through New Castles history. I would highly recommend this tour if you enjoy stunning architecture and beautiful scenery. There are gardens, the oldest house is town, and even ghost stories. This is definitely worth experiencing and very affordable. I would come here again during their historical reenactment days as well to see the towns folk walk around in historical garb.

The historic, well-preserved town of New Castle is a pleasant day trip from Philadelphia. Start at the Visitor Center with their overview video. The friendly guide shared insider tips and gave us a walking tour map. You can download the audio tour from their website. Most attractions are closed Monday. Highlights are the Dutch House, the Court House museum and town square.

New Castle is an interesting place to visit, visitor center itself is nothing special, you need to walk around and visit the various historic buildings and graveyard. William Penn actually first landed here back when Delaware was part of Pennsylvania.

We took an amazing tour led by a very enthusiastic tour guide. The fella definitely know his stuff. Also on the tour was what I'm assuming is another tour guide some woman that I assume works there. Whatever or whomever she was she was certainly enjoying the tour. She was laughing uncontrollably and maniacally it was quite hilarious to observe. All the way it made the Tour all that more enjoyable.

Cajun restaurant
Restaurant
Nora Lees is a vibrant New Orleans-inspired establishment that offers an array of Cajun and Creole dishes in a lively and relaxed setting. Although the cuisine is appealing to those who appreciate Cajun flavors, some patrons have expressed dissatisfaction with the service and food prices. It has been noted that the coconut shrimp appetizer, priced at $18, was disappointing due to its small portion size consisting of only four excessively fried shrimp.
Decided on this restaurant thanks to my coworkers recommendation. It was located in this very cute town square, plenty of street parking. The restaurant was very beautiful with a French quarter theme throughout and it also has bar seating as an option. We were sat right away and the service staff were quick. The food was AMAZING 👏 10/10!!! Definitely recommend you check it out, I myself cant wait to go back and try something new from their menu.
Neysha C — Google review
I visited on a Sunday evening when the restaurant wasn’t too busy. The hostess seemed inattentive, leading to a confusing seating experience. While our appetizers were tasty (though one was incorrect and had to be fixed), the main courses were disappointing. The crab cake had too much filler, and the fried crawfish and oysters were overly breaded and lacked seasoning. The cozy atmosphere and decor were nice, but the service and food inconsistency mean I’d likely return only for drinks and appetizers.

First time here. Great decorations for Halloween. 5 minute wait to be seated despite not being crowded. Come to find out only 1 server on duty. I would have given 5 stars all the way across the board except for this. The food was excellent and our server tried her best to wait on all the tables. I have been wanting to come here for years and the food did not disappoint
Bob H — Google review
Our waitress was rude from the moment we walked in the door. I had reservations, she said, "oh really"? Looked at the screen and said you can sit here. It took a long time for her to take our order, and it took even longer for it to come out. I don't mind waiting for my food if it's cooked fresh. When our order came out, the scallops were cold. It took so long for us to let the person who bought out the food to acknowledge us, then she just told our unpleasant waitress, who took long to come to table. She did apologize, then rolled her eyes. We had to wait another 20 minutes longer for the food. It came out not piping hot, but better. Anytime the waitstaff can just carry your food out without a towel or mitt, it's not going to be hot enough for me. The apple walnut salad was good until I got to the bottom where it was about an inch of water. I forgot to take a picture. The blackened crab cake on top had a little bit of crab, a lot of fillers, but was actually tasty. Now we see them bringing bread to another table, so we ask our waitress how much for the bread, and she says it's free. We asked why didn't we get any, she says do you want some, we said yes. The eyes rolled again. Get the bread and it's burnt, now we're afraid to say something, but we do. She says all of the bread come out burnt, that's why I don't bring out. But we saw her bring out to 2 other tables and we're not blind, it's not burnt! Lastly, I ask for the dessert list, when I tell her what I want, the banana fosters bread pudding to go, she tells me that's not a good choice because it do not travel well with the sauce. I'm like can't it go on the side? I day never mind, eyes roll again. At this point, I'm ready to go.

This was such a cute little hidden gem! Definitely reminded me of New Orleans. All they need are the frozen daiquiris. I came in for a birthday, and Rosie definitely took great care of us! I recommend the margarita! For food, our party has the meatloaf, the jambalaya with catfish and the Hafer Salad. The photo is of the meatloaf. The portions were phenomenal. Only problem was that the catfish presentation and breading was not very good. If they switch the breading to cornmeal, and do less sauce, they'll have a winner on their hands. All in all, we'll definitely be back!

Flavorful food, incredible hospitality + friendly service, and a vibe that made me feel as if I was dining in the French Quarter. Gotta make a second visit soon.

Overall service was absolutely horrendous, probably worse service ever. Something was off with the waitress. Food was ehh. Shame - atmosphere is cute and I have been here before and had scallops and wings which were good a while back, but i also sat at the bar. I recommended family to try dinner, it was the worse experience, and I felt so bad for suggesting going here. First off, drinks, either the drink was not good or we didnt get them. I had to ask 5x for a soda and it is like she kept forgetting what we ordered (before we got the drinks she would ask what we got again). Two of us didnt get our meals, one the meal came out but they couldnt remember who got it so they took it back, mine they never made, they brought the one back out after we pointed out whos it was. They finally made mine and brought out when everyone was done. 6 of 9 hated their food and will never go again. The following I was told were NOT good at all: seafood linguine, blackened chicken Mac and cheese or something, bisque, and chicken nachos. Those who liked their food got steak or jambalaya. 2 year old nephew got Mac and cheese and threw up on the car ride home:-(

A very solid experience to be had for sure! I've been hearing about the place for years and only recently got the chance to pay a visit. I went with my wife, son, brother, and sister in law, for her birthday. While there wasn't any chain restaurant-esque fanfare or little bonus for her birthday, we were pleasantly surprised by the portion sizes and the potency of the drinks we ordered. Being from New Orleans, I was initially skeptical of the flavors of the food, but my fears were put to rest after getting my crawfish nachos. The food was well prepared and has an abundance of flavor, and while not exactly what you'd expect from a more traditional Creole or Cajun restaurant in Louisiana, the food was way more flavorful than you'd expect to find in Delaware of all places! The only misstep in my opinion was the bread they set out for the table. It was a little too "blackened" for my taste, but beyond the initial crust, even that was really good! TL:DR; Good food in very nice portions, great date night ambiance, attentive servers, strong drinks, and blackened bread, LMAO! Your mileage may vary, but I truly enjoyed my experience at Nora Lee's and look forward to visiting again.

Zollies Jazz Cucina is a vibrant culinary destination located in Historic New Castle, offering a fusion of Afrocentric, West Indian, and Southern cuisines. This restaurant has become a must-visit spot during Restaurant Week due to its live music events and diverse menu. Since its opening in 2021, it has garnered a loyal following both locally and beyond, contributing to New Castle's emergence as a dining hotspot.
Cutest little restaurant, loved the art on the walls! We started with some cocktails that were well made and delicious. The Brie appetizer was good -fresh fruit, prosciutto and capicola - but would have liked the brie more melted. Entrees were Catfish and Veal chop, both were delicious and the roasted brussel sprouts were sweet, savory and yummy. Definitely will be going back on a night with live music!

Our party of four made a 130p Sunday brunch reservation. When we arrived, we were warmly greeting and immediately seated, with the sounds of a live jazz by a female musician. The atmosphere is cozy, and clean. It’s not a big place but comfortable. Everyone enjoyed their (adult beverage) drinks and food. Food potions were plentiful, prices were reasonable, the menu had various options. The waiter was patient and attentive. The chef, Toney came out and briefly talked to our party at our table-that was a nice touch. We will be back, and recommend Zollies to our friends and family.

🏝️🦀 Great Date Night Spot! Live music and a cool upscale Island Vibe with wonderful service and an attentive hands-on/ guest-friendly Chef. Everything was so fresh! The Sweet & Spicy Cornbread and Seafood Stew were spectacular! The Lower Slower Surf & Turf was the perfect balance of tender, juicy chicken and tons of crab! Definitely a hidden gem in Historic Old New Castle!

We were visiting New Castle and wanted to try some local restaurants. Zollie was recommended to us by a local resident. We went on a Saturday evening, and there was a musician playing near the front door while we had dinner, which added a nice touch to the atmosphere. Note that they add a $2 stipend per person to the bill when they have live music. We ordered a basket of Zollie’s Sweet & Spicy Cornbread, the empanadas, and the Branzino Escovitch. The service was friendly and quick. The portion of cornbread was generous, but it was dry. I wouldn’t order this dish again. I really liked the fruit salsa that came with the empanadas, even though the dish itself was a bit too spicy for me and could’ve used more pork belly. The grilled branzino was delicious, and the pickled shaved carrot and beet balanced out the richness of the fish perfectly. Highly recommend!

My husband and I came here for a date night. The restaurant was out of a few things on the menu but luckily we found other things we were interested in ordering. I was also surprised that there were no menu specials for the night because it was a Saturday, but we ended up ordering the Maryland crab soup, bruschetta, short rib, chicken paella, and flan. All were plated beautifully and tasted excellent except for the paella. I felt that it lacked in spices and had too many green peppers in it but that’s just my personal preference. The chicken on the paella was cooked perfectly and seasoned well. Other than that, the atmosphere was nice, the service was good and the food was very good as well. I would love to see what very ambience is like during the darker hours of the evening since we were during the daytime, and it seems like it could be really nice. I’d love to come back to the other things on the menu.

We had a great girls' night out at Zollies. Everyone was very friendly and the service was great. On Friday and Saturday nights, they have live jazz music, and we were there for that. They place is small, but not cramped, and there's a great vibe. The drinks were good, but the food wasn't as good as we expected. We were a little let down because the descriptions sounded so good, and it looked so good when we got our plates. I'd go back to Zollies to try other things on the menu simply because the overall experience was great.

The modernized old town quaint dining experience today was top tier. It was a nice airy spaceFrom the time we walked in, we were greeted by Barbara regarding our reservation, promptly being seated, receiving menus, and a nice cold glass of cucumber water. Our bubbly ("Happy Sunday, Happy Father's Day") wait staff -y apologies for not remembering her name; she extremely attentive, engaged, helpful, impeccable with covering her favorites, dining customers favorites and specials on the menu. Every staff member was extremely warm and welcoming, adoring a smile with each encounter... even the owner (the wife) ● Pros: The food was savory, full of taste, and exquisitely captivating to the palette. The place is intimate and cozy. ● Con: Some dishes that have PORK (shrimp 🍤 and grits) should have smaller pot [ an a few orders] wo the pork for those die-hard shrimp and grits connoisseur Same for the gumbo and the fish [ catfish or salmon] dinner menu item. The live music 🎶 🎵 was absolutely awesome- however; it was only for about 20 minutes of our dining experience. I booked this place because my husband LOVES Jazz, and I knew that this establishment would be ideal for a Father's Day brunch. Overall, I will definitely come back and try other items on the menu. Thank you all for the southern flavor flare dining experience.

Traditional American restaurant
Jessop's Tavern is a casual pub housed in a historic building dating back to 1724, offering a unique Colonial dining experience. The servers are dressed in period costumes, adding to the authentic atmosphere. Since the 1990s, Jessop's Tavern has been serving traditional Colonial fare such as New Sweden meatloaf, shepherd's pie, and fish and chips. The menu also features comfort food like pot roast and duck, all at reasonable prices.
I love the ambience of this place. The food is amazing too. They have a lot of unique dishes with great flavors. We had a large group. They were unable to sit us all together at the same table, but we were able to sit at a table near the bar, so we could all kind of still communicate. it's a good idea to have a reservation if you have a large group for this facility. We did not realize that they took reservations until we walked in the door. It was a great evening out. I highly recommend this restaurant. The service was fast and efficient plus very friendly. It was a good time.

We stopped in to Jessop’s Tavern after biking the Jack A. Markell trail roundtrip from New Castle to the Wilmington Riverfront and back. It was quite chilly, so the hot apple cider we ordered (Red with Fireball and Caramel Apple with butterscotch schnapps) was extra delicious and warming. To eat we had the Seafarer’s Catch Chowder and Bunker Hill Beef sandwich. The chowder was tomato based, not cream based which was disappointing as it is not our favorite. Our fault because we didn’t ask, but it wasn’t stated on the menu either. The beef sandwich accompanied by sweet potato fries was both delicious and satisfying. Our server, also the bartender, was very personable, but due to the fact that she was tending bar and serving tables, we waited quite awhile just to get water, drinks, and to put our order in. The historic town of New Castle is really quaint and worth visiting.

I went off of Google's Recommendation and was upset they don't dress up all the time, so definitely go during a holiday such as separation day for a full experience. Food is priced fairly, but nothing is extraordinary. The meatloaf in the sandwich was VERY good! Great flavor, texture, and color. Id recommend just getting it without the sandwich. Unique drinks to order as well. Atmosphere brings you back in time and was a fun stop

We are on a quest to visit the oldest bar in each state and Jessop’s was on our list for Delaware. New Castle is a well preserved colonial town so worth a visit as well. The Tavern did not disappoint! Sarah, our server, was so kind and patient with us. My husband got the Federalist Ale. We learned that the owners had research done in the Library of Congress for their brews which is next level authenticity! We ate the yummy warm crab dip in a bread bowl which also comes with some celery and carrot dippers and a few sticks of toasted bread. They have local ice cream with some “colonial” flavors. The pewter plates and locally made ceramic mugs add to the ambience of the historic building. A must visit!

Beautiful pub in a historic building near the Amstel House in Newcastle. We had the house salad, mussels and meatloaf. Food was tasty, servings were huge and the place has character. And we loved their maple pecan ice cream, too.

What a great dinner and incredible place. Apparently, the building has been there since 1674!!!! While not a restaurant until more recently, the experience was incredible and fun!!! We had their crab dip in a sourdough bread bowl as an appetizer which was flavorful and finished off with nothing left. My wife had Shepherd’s pie which is described as a 2 1/2 pound meal, most came home with us. I had their Pilgrims Feast of Thanksgiving in June!!! We finished with “Oli Bolen” Dutch Apple Cake or beautiful donuts with their homemade ice cream. They also had a giant selection of beers and drinks. Our waiter, Nate, was knowledgeable and helpful through the dinner. A great evening and wonderful place!!!

Sometimes you can light a firework and it goes up into the sky and beautifully cascades down, and sometimes you can light it, and it goes sideways across the parking lot and fizzled out. This place has potential, but they are inconsistent with both food quality and service. My guest and I went there 2 days in a row. On the first night, we got the crab dip, the prime rib, and the fish and chips. The crab dip was good, but the toasted bread batons were amateur, like something I would do in my home kitchen. The prime rib plate was very good, but the fish and chips were a total fail. The batter on the fish was like a heavy pancake batter. It came out like thick pancakes and was not crispy due to the thick, fluffy batter. I scraped off the batter, which made up 50% of the fish. The sauce was a half tartar and half cocktail sauce. Cocktail sauce does not make sense with this dish. They need to work on the fish and choose basics and quit fooling around with cute sauce combos. Even though I was disappointed, I thought we could come back the next day, and I would have the prime rib. Fast forward.... we came back the next day. The prime rib slice was reheated from the day before. It was cold and tough, so I sent it back, but that was the last slice. They had no more. So I ordered the beef pot pie. The presentation was great, but it was extremely salty and runny, more like pot pie soup. My guest got the pastrami sandwich. It was lackluster. Like pastrami lunch meat. We ordered a,desert. It was not homemade (we should have inquired beforehand). Again, lackluster. The service was really bad. We sat for long periods of time without being checked on, and we waited forever for our check. The decor and atmosphere was nice, but there were a lot of missed opportunities. Service was slow. Quality was inconsistent, and just downright poor on some items. Overall, this was a miss for me.
M — Google review
Service and food were absolutely stellar even when the servers had a full house. Our waiter was wonderful, and the hostesses were kind despite some rude patrons I noticed. Will be back for the chicken pie and cheese board! After a further visit, I can also say the half Duck was spectacular! I got my glaze on the side, and preferred it that way. Our server Krystal was also super sweet.

This church's so beautiful on the outside. I didn't make it inside because it was close, The location is next to the highway but is relaxing once you walk on the premises. You can feel peace. I like that they have benches where you can sit to have a little you time. Once I know the mass schedules, I will definitely drive the hour ride for it.

The Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church has been a staple in our community for many years. With their doors open they offer a safe and comforting location for worship and self reflection. The surrounding grounds are open to many seating areas and monuments that both educate and rejuvenate the spirt. When visiting one should take the time to admire the Our Lady Queen of Peace Shrine located next the church close to the highway. One of three Madonnas created by Delaware's own Charles C. Parks.

I was traveling from NJ to Northern VA and thought to check out a few listed "Roadside Attractions" - this did NOT disappoint ... - Seriously you need to check this statue out .. if you are heading south on the NJ/DE turnpike - it's right there you can see it just as you pass through the toll booth .. on the right .. BUT you have to make your exit BEFORE that .. this thing is HUGE!

Immerse yourself in history and elegance at the Read House & Gardens in New Castle, DE. Explore the George Read II House on an interior tour, marveling at its 14-foot ceilings and meticulously crafted woodwork. Before the guided tours begin, take a leisurely stroll through the picturesque gardens for some serene moments amidst lush greenery. The town itself is a charming throwback with cobblestone streets and centuries-old graves, offering a glimpse into bygone eras.
We visited today and although the signs said they were doing tours, no one appeared to be inside. However, the views of the water and the winter set-up still balanced out the opportunity to walk the grounds and enjoy the sunlight in the historic setting. My wife and I have driven past New Castle many times, but finally had a chance to explore some today. The Read House is situated a stones throw from the water, and about 4-6 blocks from the shore park where there's some information and history with the local railroad. New Castle is a beautiful little town of historical significance, hosting a piece of history on almost every corner. Today's trip would have been better with a tour of the Read House, but I recommend calling before you plan to show up, just in case they aren't able to have someone onsite. We love old buildings, so we'll be back 😁

The house is only available by guided tour and it was Excellent! Situated in the heart of downtown colonial New Castle, it was a great visit Our guide was friendly, knowledgeable and clearly enjoyed conducting the tours. Well worth the $10 cost.
John W — Google review
I came to New Castle on a Wednesday, so the house was closed. The garden on the other hand is open all the time. You can start across from the Market Street side entrance, then walk over to the river side. The garden welcomes you with plenty of shade to keep back the hot midday Sun. It is larger than I thought and there are a couple different sections in my view. From the Market Street side, it was more of a normal backyard with paths and trees. On the river side there is a garden with flowers and sitting terraces. I wish I could have seen inside the house, but that is for another day.

This is in New Castle, DE and there is more to enjoy than the Read House. Our tour guide was fantastic, and it was a nice trip for my mom and I. Its was a wonderful place to learn of the history of that time, and how things were different. Coming to this quaint town is really a step back in time, with the period houses, cobblestone streets, and graves dating back to the 1700s. It is truly a beautiful historic town, and has views of the Delaware Memorial Bridge. There are other buildings you can tour, and small shops. I plan to go back in the fall to get a closer look, and to do the audio tour. If you love history, quiet, laid back places, this is a great place for couples or older children. The townspeople are friendly, the neighborhood safe, many people were walking their dogs-their was even a drinking fountain for them by the courthouse. Such a lovely place for a day trip.
Amy D — Google review
The garden is free and stunning even if it isn't big. House tours cost $10 per person, but I didn't have enough time for the tour (this is so sad)

Beautiful place rich with history. George Read is buried here and you'll often see coins on his grave, shown as a sign of respect for his service to this country. It's like a walk in the past, with many graves dating back to the 1700's. After your visit, take a short stroll to the main street for dinner or a nice walk along the river.

This 17th century church is well preserved and makes for an excellent backdrop the whole New Castle historical district. While you're enjoying the wonderfully restored architecture of the Church, make sure to walk through the centuries-old cemetery next to it. Read through the epitaphs and you'll be shocked at how old the cemetery is!

The girl running orders in the front was very incompetent. Tossed my bag on the counter. I had to remind her that she forgot my drinks, then I had to tell her I needed straws, then she forgot the apple juice for the happy meal. I had to wait to ask someone else for ketchup. My sandwich was wrong, asked for a cheeseburger with no meat, just take the meat off, seemed like a big deal for them. Sheesh. Plan rude. If you have issue working with customers then dont work in fast food 😒 will definitely avoid them in the future.

The food is exceptional and consistently receives high praise from patrons.
This was the first time I visit this restaurant. the service was courteous kind and very pleasurable to participate with. The food was outstanding. We had a table of 10 and the service was great. I had just visit the restaurant again today on Saint Paddy‘s day and the atmosphere and service was great again. The waitress Crystal was superb and getting over 14 orders done in a fashionable amount of time. She was courteous to everybody and everybody liked her also. The food was still great and it all came out at the same time. Outstanding all the way.

Needs better packaging for takeout!! Not the first time this has happened. Spilled all over my car, and wings were dry after because all the sauce spilled. Takeout packaging shouldn’t be rushed.

I've been ordering food from here for years and have always loved everything. The pizza is great, the new penne vodka is my instant favorite, the wraps are awesome.. you really can't go wrong. Also the staff are all SO kind, and I've had only great experiences when ordering catering with the owner/upper management.

We were passing through on our way to New York and needed to stop for lunch. This restaurant was a lucky find. The restroom was clean, the food was good and service was prompt and friendly. There were plenty of very nice looking booths that were comfortable to sit in. I loved this stop.

I'll start off by saying the pizza is Amazing the wings are always super hard but the sauce is actually ok The price of the cheese steak egg rolls is why its a three star they were completely burnt hard and overcooked even tried just eating the inside and the taste was just horrible its nothing to compare it to but other than the horrible egg rolls I would definitely recommend this place

Absolutely fabulous tasty food. Lovely dine in experience, and your take out orders are on point too! Delicious, fresh and great size portions, giving you leftovers for the next day and tasting as good as first made and served. Great small town restaurant, fresh foods wonderful table service and good daily soups too. Yummy!! Recommend

I really like this place One of the most tasteful cheesesteaks in my life If you like spicy one - recommending Chipotle cheesesteak and buffalo cheesesteak Also I like there chilli Mozzarella sticks little bit plain Also I like there prices there Very good food and service according to the prices Came here for the first time 1 year later. Waited 10 minutes for menu. Waiters ignored us. We left.
Marharyta D — Google review
I am giving a 1 for service and atmosphere due to the rude bartender. My bf and I came in around 12:45pm and decided to sit at the bar because we wanted to just eat quickly then leave. There were only 2 people in the bar area even including the surrounding tables. As we sat down the bartender asked us “what will you be drinking” and I said “oh no it will be too early to drink” jokingly back and she quickly says very rudely “then why are you sitting at the bar?” At this point I’ve become severely uncomfortable and angry. Felt as though I needed to order a drink just to sit at the bar. My bf is a bartender as well and I asked him if I was in the wrong for not ordering a drink at the bar so instead he decided to get a drink to make things less awkward. We ended up leaving the bar area as I felt uncomfortable and didn’t want to be served by someone as rude as her. We did go in to the dining room which had much better service by our server she was extremely nice. Wouldn’t come back to the bar after that incident.

Pizza delivery
Delivery/carryout chain offering a wide range of pizzas & a variety of other dishes & sides.
Ordered two large thin crust two topping pizzas with a stuffed cheesy bread.. Food was great and came hot and ready. Their driver Khwaja was on time and very considerate. Enjoyed his upbeat attitude and energy. Will definitely order from this location again.
Jim M — Google review
We decided to order from this Domino's since the one off of Market Street has been horrible and let me tell you it has been great! They always have gotten our order correct and it is always fresh! We don't do delivery since we figure it gets busy by the time we order. We show up and wait maybe like 5 to 7 mins and its all good. Not a single complaint. The workers are always working hard here and customer service is great
Jennifer D — Google review
I ordered there one night coming home couldn't get anyone to answer but placed my order online. Ordered pepperoni & sausage pizza. Got my pepperoni. No sausage. Smh. Go back to get my credited pizza got my sausage, but no pepperoni. Smh. Then they oven cooked my pepperoni to put on pizza. Smh. One of the worst domino's experiences
William W — Google review
Absolutely trash service. Ordered 2 large pizzas and this place gave me 2 mediums without even telling me. I was literally in the store waiting, and only after 30 minutes do I find out they didn’t have large dough and took it upon themselves to downgrade my order. No heads-up, no apology until I confronted them. And the so-called manager? Completely careless, disrespectful, and unprofessional. When I asked for compensation, all she said was, “Do you want an apology?” Are you serious? I waited 30 damn minutes for a wrong order, and all I get is your fake sorry? This manager doesn’t give a damn about customers. Treats people like they’re stupid and acts like my time is worthless. Might as well spit in people’s faces, would be the same level of disrespect. Never going back to this Domino’s. Ever. And I’d suggest no one else waste their time here either. If you value your time and basic decency—AVOID THIS PLACE.
Deever — Google review
Ordered from this Domino’s while staying at a nearby hotel. The driver showed up without the sodas we paid for, claimed she’d be back in “2 minutes,” and never returned. What’s wild is — this is the second time this exact thing has happened when ordering Domino’s to a hotel room while on vacation. Starting to feel like there’s a little soda side hustle going on here, and management either doesn’t notice or doesn’t care. Last time the store offered a 10% coupon that didn’t even work. Honestly, it feels like this location knows people won’t chase down small refunds — but it adds up, and it’s dishonest. Domino’s needs to clean this up. I’d think twice before ordering from this location, especially if you're staying in a hotel. It's obvious from the reviews that the Dominos corporation has given up.
Mathew I — Google review
Last order placed here took 2 hours to deliver. According to the tracker the pizza sat in the building well over an hour and a half. Food arrived luke warm and the cheese was hard. Tried calling multiple times and was on hold 10+ minutes each time. Clown show.
Samuel S — Google review
Brandan... He is awesome guy. The pizza here exceeded my expectations. The crust was the perfect balance of crispy and chewy, with a great wood-fired flavor. The tomato sauce was rich and tangy without being overpowering, and the cheese was fresh and generously layered
Varun C — Google review
Placed an order for delivery and it took over an hour to get.. then, when the driver did arrive, my teenage daughter was outside, and he verified the house number with her, then had her go to his car and open the passenger door to get the food out herself! Horrible!! Will never order from them again

Dunkin' is a beloved chain known for its signature breakfast offerings and an extensive range of coffee beverages. Many patrons have shared their delightful experiences at various Dunkin' locations, often highlighting the friendly staff and the freshness of the food. One traveler recounted a humorous mix-up with a mobile order but was thrilled to find it waiting for them upon arrival at their favorite Dunkin'.
THANK YOU! I placed my mobile order half asleep and headed to a friend's house to walk a doggo. Needless to say my brain screamed when I realized I didn't place it at the dunkin I was at. Long short, I walk the dog. Head home. Decided to stop by and see if my order was somehow at this location. It was! This is my FAVORITE Dunkin by the way! Not only was it fresh and ready, they brought it out to me when I pulled up! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Humanity thanks you! Trust me, without coffee I am a menace...thank you! Give them all raises!

We usually stop by this Dunkin when it's on our way. It's the last coffee shop before taking a highway. This is a big Dunkin. There is a bathroom with a coded lock. Code has to be obtained from the staff members. This Dunkin is an older style shop, which I think I like more than a newer gray version )) Food was good Coffee was goof Staff was nice. Day 3

Off the beaten path
For day 3, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Christmas House. Not quite as popular as New Castle Battery Park, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 2 hours.

Deemers Beach is a riverfront location that offers a straightforward expanse of rough sand ideal for fishing. There is also convenient nearby parking available. This hidden gem pleasantly surprised visitors with its pleasant walkways along the water and an extensive path suitable for jogging enthusiasts. However, there is room for improvement in terms of maintaining the surrounding trees and overall upkeep of the area. It serves as a fantastic spot to unwind, soak up some sun, and enjoy picturesque views.
First time in this place and I wasn’t expecting it to be so good. We enjoyed walking by the water and the trial is long for those who wants to jog as well. I believe this place need more attention in term of taking care of tree and etc..
Malik A — Google review
It’s not a bad beach, and parking is free and convenient. Be aware that there is some sea glass that has washed up, and the large amount of rocks makes walking barefoot not really possible. There will be lots of people walking and jogging above you, as there is a trail along the beaches path.
Dana H — Google review
The trail is clean, nice, and newly paved. The trail is nice and wide, with plenty of room for walkers, joggers, and bicyclists. I pulled in to enjoy a walk and the view from shore. There was far too much garbage along the whole beach. Nobody has seemed to do maitnance. I picked up one whole box of trash myself and tossed it in the barrell they have near the parking lot. Remember, "pack it in, pack it out." The parking lot was completely trashed. The trail is pet friendly. Pets on leash at all times. The doggie bags do seem to have recently been filled, in case you forgot them for your pets walk.
Katia M — Google review
Dirty beach with small water fronts. Smelled awful and the water was so brown and dirty we decided not to swim or stay.
Scott H — Google review
Not your typical beach, I usually see people fishing in the water and not splashing. Lots of tree debris on the sand. GREAT PLACE TO WALK!Deemers Beach amazing walking path will take you next to the water and small marshland. I believe if you walk towards the bridge on the path you will end up at battery park.
Taylor S — Google review
If you are a beach person, there are better choices. If you want to go for a walk or like photography, choose your time well and you can come away with some great shots. Lots of driftwood, some wildlife, and I've had some incredible views at sunrise and sunset. Click the like button if you found this review helpful or like the pics. Feel free to share.
David H — Google review
It is *technically* a beach. But I'm not sure you'd want to stay for very long. It's rough sand. A LOT of garbage strewn about. And very difficult to access the actual sand area, except by climbing down a bunch of large rocks and driftwood. My son and husband ventured down, but I couldn't make it safely, due to mobility issues. Seems to be mostly people fishing; this is not a beach you would lay out on. There is a nice walking path that goes along the shore line. And a free gravel lot to park. There are no amenities here. Benches at path facing the water would be a nice addition.

The Christmas House is a charming tourist attraction, where visitors can easily stop by and get a close look at the beautifully adorned house. The decorations for Christmas are truly splendid, with vibrant lights that illuminate the surroundings. This house deserves recognition for its outstanding displays. One cannot help but feel the festive spirit when visiting this spot. The owners have poured their hearts into creating a delightful Christmas display, including an exquisite Nativity scene. It is definitely worth bringing the whole family to experience this incredible sight.
Very wonderful Christmas display, complete with a Nativity scene. The owners put a lot of love into this. Worth bringing the family to see.

Courtney R — Google review
I’ve been here every year for 30 years. It’s an absolute must visit every Christmas! Each year the lights and theme change (these pix are from 2016). Never fails to amaze the kids and even adults. Some nights you can even visit and take pix in the garage with a real Santa! You have to look at the end of the driveway for Santa’s hours, they should be posted by the mailbox and donation box. Please donate, as this guys electric bill is absolutely insane, yet he unselfishly continues to bring joy to everyone each year.
Udunn0jb — Google review
The lights are beautiful. My boyfriend said they must have shortened them this year because the whole yard would be filled plus the garage would be open with Santa and everything. He still has a lot of lights up and it's absolutely beautiful!

Able to pull up on the side of the road and see the house up close! Beautifully decorated for Christmas, bright lights, FREE to see. This house deserves an award for their decorations! loved visiting this spot and feeling the Christmas spirit.

Masala Kitchen is a hidden gem that truly deserves your attention, especially if you're looking to support local businesses. Recently, they partnered with Opulent Lounge for a delightful brunch experience that showcases an impressive menu filled with unique and flavorful dishes. The owners, Jalpa from Masala Kitchen and Mamta from Opulent Lounge, are hands-on and ensure every guest has a memorable dining experience. Their in-house sweet pan ladoo is a must-try dessert that will leave you craving more.
Delicious selection that’s healthy and easy on the digestive system. The super kind staff will help you to navigate the menu and daily specials. We will return for sure, and I recommend Marsala Kitchen to all.

We had our book club meeting this time to support local businesses. Masala kitchen partnership with Opulent lounge for brunch should not be missed. Menu is well put together and each dish is unique and very flavorful. Food was not only delicious but it’s well put together. Both owners (Jalpa- Masala Kitchen, Mamta-Opulent) made sure and checked on us frequently to ensure everything is to order. Masala kitchens in-house made sweet “pan ladoo “ is the best dessert I had. Good food, great service. #supportlocalbusinesses

I have visited Masala Kitchen for the last 10 years and will continue to visit. My husband and I have tasted every item on the menu. It’s an all vegetarian restaurant with a soulful atmosphere. We started off enjoying their delicious vadapavs and Bombay street food 9 years ago. Lately we look forward to their thalis on weekends. The chefs in the kitchen whom I consider as mothers of India prepare delicious food from scratch with lots of love. Their Punjabi Thali, Gujarathi Thali, Kathiawadi thali and sarson ka saag with makki ki roti are our most favorites. Every time we come we drag our friends and family with us and they have all loved it. I would recommend this place for their amazing flavorful food made with heart and soul.
Wonder W — Google review
Excellent food taste and vegetarian vegan options. Vada pav was excellent. Dosa was crispy and flavorful. Good masala chai. The place is inside farmers market and not easily identifiable. The farmers market vegetables were also fresh and great prices.
Vijay C — Google review
It may seem underwhelming when you walk by since everything else is so in your face, but don’t sleep on this place. Since it was empty, I don’t stay to eat inside as I don’t like eating alone, but I got the Punjabi Thali meal to go. There’s plenty enough to share if you’re not ravenous. Spice level was good without making a requested level. It comes complete with a sweet and lassi (top container) for $23. My only regret is not trying them sooner.

Jamaican restaurant
Caribbean restaurant
Spice N Nice 2 is a strip-mall eatery that offers Jamaican and Caribbean delicacies in a simple setting. Customers can indulge in flavorsome oxtails, which are highly sought-after at this establishment. The restaurant often attracts a bustling crowd, with people eagerly awaiting their delectable meals. While placing phone orders may be challenging due to the high demand, it is worth the wait for the scrumptious dishes offered.
I'm so glad my hubby and I found this gem. We came from Smyrna to give it a try and it was definitely worth it. Price point is reasonable and the food tastes great. It's so hard to find good Caribbean food in Delaware but this place is our new spot. We ordered the king fish, rice and peas with cabbage. It's hard to find a place that cater to our seafood only diet without breaking the bank but the most important part is the food was awesome. We will be back and I'm going to spread the word to my family and friends too. Thank you guys for this delicious experience.
Monique H — Google review
Looking for a decent Caribbean meal, a friend recommended Spice N Nice. Hungry, and willing to explore, I visited Spice N Nice on a Thursday at approximately 2pm. The parking-various businesses competing for a limited amount of parking, in this small strip mall of stores. The restaurant-a small interior, was modest and busy. There was seating, and the ambiance (noise) was loud to me. Various customers ahead of me in line, I over heard them complaining that Spice N Nice often run out of certain dishes during the day. So, I ordered curry chicken, rice & pea with cabbage; and two beef Pattie’s. I waited about 15 minutes for my order. The food, priced at the industry standard, portions were good, and the food was tasty and appealing to the eye w/plenty of gravy. I would return and order a different dish, to compare my experiences. I was not blown away, with my first impression experience. I would recommend the restaurant to friends and family as one of several Caribbean restaurants in the area.
Rob P — Google review
The food was great. I got a large jerk chicken with rice and peas. It tasted amazing and the portions are great it was spicy but not overly spicy. I wanted some oxtail but when I got there at 5 ish they had run out of everything, there was only jerk and curry chicken available and based on other reviews it usually happens. The place is clean but the people at the counter could use a bit more courtesy and manners. I will go back for more food
Laetitia S — Google review
Called in to order , confirmed they had rice while on the phone once I arrived which was a complete waste of time I was told there was no rice. Platter should have been made after call or I should have been notified of the item you all did not have. Cancelled order completely.
Keondra M — Google review
Tried their curry oxtail and it was terrible .. no meat on the bones and let’s just say curry don’t belong on oxtail. It was a complete waste of $17. The plantains were good that’s it.
Keeping N — Google review
Finally!!!! I finally found a place that has some good oxtails!!! I went in and saw a bunch of people standing waiting for their food and more people kept coming in! I tried calling in my order but when I saw how busy they were I knew they didn’t have time to answer the phone. No big deal though, I was ok with waiting for my food. I got a large oxtail with rice and peas and cabbage. Everything was delicious, just like I knew it would be from the crowd! $23 for a large and I don’t mind paying that at all for a decent sized portion of really good food!! I’ll definitely be back!!
Chelsea — Google review
The size of these oxtails are ridiculous. I’ve never in my life had them this small!! Barely any meat. $30 is NOT worth it I should’ve looked at it before I left because I would’ve gave them this food right back. I was recommended to come to this place and I promise I will never go back. Horrible. Save your money
Brianna M — Google review
Great hidden gem spot. Ox tail is 🔥 but pricey at over $20 for a takeout box. Rice and beans is well seasoned and flavorful with the meals.
