Year-round cabins & recreation such as hiking & sports on 690 acres, plus a restaurant with a view.
We had a women's retreat at Mahoney in the Governors Row Cabins. Each cabin had 6 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. It was absolutely PERFECT for the retreat. Everything we needed was provided in the full kitchen, and the beds were extremely comfortable. There was plenty of space for morning yoga and facials! We didn't take pictures to respect the privacy of the ladies, but all 13 of us had an amazing time, although it was winter and there were no outside activities! We didn't need them. Mahoney and the Governors Row Cabins are great any time of year! (We did have two cabins, so activities could happen simultaneously!)

Came to do many things, but overcast skies caused us to horseback riding, putt-putt golf and time on the playground. The horseback riding was fine. The wranglers decided not to adjust the sturr-up straps, as an adult this ended up being g quite a issue. Not comfortable. The putt-putt was fun and liked the stands with information about things to do in Mahoney & other state parks. The park was fun for the kids, the bathrooms were a bit in need of cleaning.

Nice amenities and enjoyed lodge until ants decided to invade and bite. Kids enjoyed climbing wall and water park, but we're disappointed with fishing.
Renae W — Google review
We have rented a cabin for two days. The nature is beautiful. Lake view. The only concern is the lighting , total lack outside of the cabin and throughout the park. Also the cabin front door was all covered with spider nets. Otherwise it’s great for kids, there is a playground in a walking distance, horse riding etc
Dinora I — Google review
I rented a cabin and really enjoyed it! As someone else had mentioned, it is helpful to bring your own kitchen faves. The kitchen is stocked, but pan choices were slim, no kitchen towels, and coffee cups were plastic. The cabin itself was great with more than adequate furniture, bedding, pillows, BR towels, and blankets. Hiking trails were throughout the park. Many things were closed after Labor Day. I didn't mind because it was quiet.
Joni L — Google review
We camped with full hookups, and appreciated the fresh water to fill our 5th wheel. The grandkids visited, and we enjoyed pedal boating, mini-golf, and fishing. Ate at the restaurant, and they had a burger, fries, and beer for $10.99. Can't beat that price..
Tammy S — Google review
The park itself is wonderful! Very pretty and lots of family friendly things to do. We enjoyed the park. The cabins are not good. Very old and dirty. Ours hadn't been vacuumed or cleaned. The bathroom was gross and you wouldn't want to walk barefoot on the carpet. It was better than a tent, but definitely needs improvement.

This is a great state park. So much to do. You could spend an entire weekend and find stuff to do. We plan on going back for an extended weekend.

High ropes course
The Go Ape Zipline and Adventure Park is an exciting venue where groups can explore the forest canopy through a challenging treetop rope course. This adventure activity chain offers a 2 to 3 hour course with six thrilling zip-lines that keep participants engaged. The $50/per fee is definitely worth it for this safe and fun experience.
This was our first time at Go Ape at Eugene T. Mahoney State Park. We did the Treetop Journey. My kids are ages 6, 6 & 8.. they loved it!!! (My littlest is 44" and was the perfect height). My kids are super adventurous and this was right up their alley! They loved everything even down to wearing their climbing gloves (we bought these there for $10 a piece - now we will have these for future tree climbs). My daughter (6) was a bit scared of the height at first and needed encouragement, but after she did the first course she couldn't wait to go on the next and was so proud of herself. The zip line was not super long and only 25 ft up, so it was perfect and not too scary for little ones. My 8 year old is very tall for his age, but he had to duck for quite a few obstacles as they are designed to work for minimum height 39" - but he still loved it! Me and my husband thoroughly enjoyed it as well! Kids were already asking to go back the next day! I can't say enough amazing things about the staff/trainers... they were the best!! Very thorough and wonderful with the kids! It takes about 15 minutes to get checked in and do some quick training, so I would recommend arriving at least 15 mins ahead of your scheduled time. The 3 courses in the 'Treetop Journey' take about 1 hour to complete, depending on how quickly you maneuver through it. They offered water between courses and gave the kids stickers and certificates once they had finished all 3. We will most definitely be back!!! Also, so much to do at Mahoney... so they can explore, pet the horses, go on the playground, etc. before or after your Go Ape Adventure. We will also be excited to do the "Treetop Adventure" (min height 55") once the kids are all tall enough! Great experience!

We have visited this location three times. We have done the full course and the smaller one. Both are great. Making reservations is easy. The staff is very helpful. I've watched them take care of nervous or scared ustomers. Not only did my family have fun every time, but I always felt safe.
Jon H — Google review
Amazing experience! The staff was incredibly kind and helpful — definitely an adventurous and unforgettable experience I can now cross off my bucket list. I’ll absolutely be coming back for more family fun!
Jesse L — Google review
Had a great time. Lines seemed to move quickly. Visited with 3 11 year olds. 2 15 year olds. And 2 adults (not so in shape). Every skill level could keep up! Staff was mostly friendly. Challenging but not too hard. Recommend!
Ashley J — Google review
This was pretty cool place. Going from 1 section to another enjoying the beautiful greenery was worth the drive. I would suggest going first in the group if you think you can move pretty fast through the course that way you don’t have to constantly wait for people in front of you.
Nasteho — Google review
This is a great adventure and completely worth the money. We had a blast! Wear comfortable clothes, be prepared for bit of a work out and a whole lot of fun! I am afraid of heights but honestly so focused on the course that I didn't worry. It's safe, fun and the Zip lines are a great reward after the obstacle courses.
Charissa K — Google review
If you want a break away from the day to day an easy call will keep your zeal for adventure peaking. Invigorating fun that will tease your senses. A lift to the top of trees on platforms that with a breeze makes you sway with the excitement that you can once again taste the smell of nature. Breaking away from the mundane, with a clip and a zip you feel like you are on top of the world, again!

This was a lot of fun! Sandra was a terrific guide through some of the tricky sections, she was very patient with our group.

It was a fun and enjoyable experience, showcasing the talents of the talented cast and crew. The theater proved to be an excellent venue for family entertainment, offering an evening of laughter and enjoyment. Overall, it was a fantastic display of performing arts at its best.

I loved the drive through the park. It was nice to see the animals in the "wild". There are fences but they still did a nice job creating space for many animals. I was on business, would love to bring my family back next time to see the park. Great way to spend 45 minutes in the vehicle seeing many animals.
Larry M — Google review
This was a really interesting experience. To be honest, the places was great but the people driving was not. We had toddlers in the car and we were from out of town so we followed the rules. We drove the 7 mph like we were told but the cars behind us were driving so fast! We had to drive to the side so they can pass us. We were very fortunate that bad we were able to see most of the animals. We saw the wolves and bear. One of the guests who has a pass, came all summer and this was the first time they ever saw the wolf. That made us feel very lucky. But the kids had fun looking for the animals in the car ride and hiking up to see the bears and wolf. I'm glad we decided to visit last minute. We used visitomaha to get discounts and look at attractions the kids might enjoy. Definitely look into it to visit things in Omaha.
Jillian V — Google review
There’s so much to see, with plenty of spots where you can get a closer look at the animals by parking and getting out of the car. The grounds have picnic areas and a couple of small play zones for kids. You’ll find friendly goats to pet, plus a walking trail that leads you past bears, birds, frogs, and even wolves. The bathrooms were clean, which is always a nice bonus. We really enjoyed our visit! It took us about an hour and a half, but we easily could have stayed longer.
Kristi H — Google review
Definitely a fun place to visit! There’s lots to see, and it’s a great experience overall. Just keep in mind—you’ll need to get out of the car to see the wolves and bears up close. Totally worth it!

Liked the insect animatronics. Daughter loved seeing all the animals. The playground area halfway through was nice for the kids to be able to get out stretch a little bit exercise and get some of that pent-up energy out. There was some nice changes there since the last time we were there two years ago.
Travis B — Google review
We love this place and typically visit multiple times over the summer, but the insect animatronics this year were a swing and a miss. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating of my very curious toddler trio and answered every question, even the ones on repeat. We love the park, but it didn't hold their interest this year. We'll see what next year brings!
Anthony M — Google review
We enjoyed our visit to the wildlife safari park. We visited on a Saturday afternoon and it was not too busy. You drive through most of it in the car and you can see animals in their habitats. There is a place in the middle that you can park, do a little hiking, use the bathroom, and pet some goats. I think our favorite animals we saw were the American Bison. They were all moving around, drinking from a pond near the road, and scratching their heads on some trees. We spent about 3 hours here. It seemed like cars behind us were in a hurry, so we just let them pass so we could drive slow and enjoy the animals. Overall this was a fun place to visit!
Corey R — Google review
This is a drive-thru Nature and Safari tour. I would recommend wearing loose-fit comfortable clothing and footwear. In addition older clothing if you want to do some Hands-On in the areas exhibits that allows human- animal interactions. This wildlife conservation reserve gives you one of the best safari experiences in the Midwest at a very economically low price point that has little to no impact on the animals here. Admission staff is very courteous respectful welcoming and professional. During our visit we got the pleasure of being educated and enlightened by Robert. I'm sure of his title [ Wildlife Park Ranger-Caregiver] nevertheless, the love he has for the animals and his duties is very evident this is not a job for him but a career. You can hear the passion in his voice that he enjoys what he does here at the Lee Simmons Wildlife Safari Park. Do you want to make some good memories, make sure you put this on your 2025 summer to do list. See wildlife in natural habitats up close in person and not on tv or social media. See some of the beautiful things GOD, the Creator created. Robert, the older gentleman with glasses and the woman Admission staff (2) thumps up for being kind and welcoming.

Steak house
Restaurant
Round the Bend Steakhouse is a spacious and unassuming bar and grill that specializes in steaks, prime rib, and fried seafood. Located in Nebraska but with decades of history in Florida, this restaurant offers a unique dining experience. The friendly and attentive service quickly accommodates large groups, making it an ideal spot for gatherings. The steaks are the highlight here - juicy, tender, perfectly seasoned, and reasonably priced.
Pretty cool place. Busy. We started off with the rocky mountain oysters and they were good but was expecting a Lil more flavor than just the breading. I also had the 12oz ribeye, loaded baked potato, house salad and dinner roll I absolutely can't complain it was cooked perfectly it was a delicious meal. Service could have been a Lil better but when your busy your busy.

Great place with a friendly staff and atmosphere! This was one of the best steaks I've had in a while. Found this place by accident and was lured in by the Testicle Festival sign out front! And yes, I tried them! Sliced and deep fried. How can they be bad?! I only gave 4 stars for food because they didn't have dessert. Not sure if they don't serve it or we're just out of it.

This place is amazing. We made it a plan to stop in here as we were traveling from Vancouver, Washington and staying in Ashland. It is located in a beautiful area up on a knoll that looked over fields of corn. We ordered drinks and appetizers and waited outside. There are ring toss games that kept our kids busy. We struck up conversations with other customers waiting as well, everyone was so friendly. We were finally seated and greeted by our friendly server Mercedes. All of us could not wait to get our steaks and side dishes. Everything was cooked and tasted absolutely perfect. Mercedes asked if we were going to try an "oyster", and in unison we all said "NO!". Later as we were leaving I noticed some funny t-shirts that feature a very "buff" bull standing in front of a pickup truck. It was advertising what they are famous for. The kids thought the shirts were funny and asked if we would buy them each one, my wife replied "Only if you try a bite of one". Mercedes saw us and my wife asked what they taste like. She explained that they taste mostly like chicken fried steak. Well... Mercedes said there is an option on the menu to try just one slice, so she went and got us our sampler. Never in a hundred million years did I ever think I would even think about trying this. Well in not so many words, it came out, I cut off a bite, dunked it in Dorthy Lynch dressing and ate it. The rest of the family tried as well. Long story short, we survived, the kids got new shirts, we made a new friend and can't wait to go back some day.

Finally made our way to Round the Bend. Arrived around 4:30 on a Friday night and we were seated right away. Ordered drinks and appetizers. Hubby and I split a half sack and our son had cheese curds (we also enjoyed those). The half sack is a small portion of fresh, tender testicles. They were very good. I ordered prime rib, as did our son. It was tender and flavorful. The Brussels sprouts were quite tasty as well. My baked potato was just ok. Hubby ordered coconut shrimp. The shrimp were large and they gave a generous amount. The dipping sauce for the shrimp was a little too sweet for my liking.
Jennie B — Google review
I love this place! It’s always busy which is great but never had to wait very long at all. The food is delicious. Prices are fair. Always great service! Best steakhouse around the area.
Kesha H — Google review
We got there just before 5 on a Friday night, and there was already a good crowd there. We were seated after only a minute's wait. The servers were fairly busy and it took maybe five minutes before someone came by with menus and to get our drink order. A few minutes later we had our drinks and gave our server our dinner order. I ordered the 16oz Ribeye topped with mushrooms and onions. My partner ordered their filet. My two sides were asparagus and a side salad. My partner also ordered asparagus, along with a baked potato. We also ordered corn nuggets as an appetizer. The appetizer only took five minutes to arrive, it was more than large enough for the two of us. My salad showed up about then as well, it was a generous portion with a cup of dressing. Maybe ten minutes later our meals arrived. My steak had a nicely seared outside and was cooked medium rare like I had ordered. My partner's filet was fine similarly. I can't speak for her steak, but mine was excellent, although it might have been spiced a bit more. Good flavor, easy to cut, about the right amount of fat for this cut of steak. The asparagus was grilled and was also very good. The steak was much better than what I have become accustomed to getting at Texas Roadhouse as well as Longhorn Steakhouse. While we're there the restaurant filled up and customers were waiting to be seated, so we managed to hit the sweet spot for time. Prices were higher than the chain houses, but the quality of the steak was better. The dining room didn't try and pack as many customers in as possible, we didn't get that crowded feeling like we do at Texas Roadhouse. Even though the restaurant was crowded, we didn't feel like they were trying to rush us out the door so that they could get the next group seated. A little more expensive than I'd feel comfortable doing regularly, but definitely worth it for any sort of dinner where a bit of a splurge is appropriate. We'll be going back when we feel like having done really good steak.
Greg S — Google review
I was reluctant to do a review on this place. I saw the owner replied to someone who did a1 star and the reply was very condescending and arrogant don't believe me look at the 1 stars and the girls name is Stephanie. Now onto my review. We visited because I thought I'd get an excellent prime rib. The order was for 16oz it didn't come out as ordered rare and it also looked like it had some bites taken off it. It didn't taste seasoned either. The Mac n cheese was not flavorful and my hashbrowns were drenched in oil. The bread was served cold and there wasn't anything good about that either. Ha ha the butter was good. Zero atmosphere seriously zero. My meal was $49 plus everything else we ordered. Not worth my hard earned dollar. Oh and no need for a response owner I won't be back. I'll go to an establishment who appreciate their customers and their customers feedback good or bad. Suggestions cook customers steak to order. Add some real cheese to the mac and cut back on the oils used. Maybe make some fresh baked bread or at least warm bread. Dang pretty simple right?
Cm M — Google review
Well, I certainly didn't expect the sign out front when I found the place!!! But as a single man I loved it and bought a pint glass as a souvenir... The bartender was very friendly and let me bother her LOL.. I got cheesy hash browns and they were awesome... seems like they had some meat grease flavor in there...A big group did come in while I was at the bar, and I guess it is their policy to wait for everybody to be there before they seat them... so it was congested at the front end and I thought that was weird...

Sandwich shop
Subway is a popular fast-food chain that offers customizable sandwiches and salads. They have a wide range of healthy options for health-conscious customers. Customers can build their own sandwich or salad, selecting from various vegetables and other ingredients. Many customers enjoy the vegetarian option, where they challenge the "sandwich artist" to include every vegetable available, resulting in well-stuffed sandwiches. The facility is known to be clean with friendly service, and customers appreciate the promptness and quality of their orders.
The subway in Ashland is worth driving all the way from Lincoln for. You'll get great customer service, your food made exactly how you want it (and much better than that), and the vibe is comfortable as well as inviting. Best subway I've experienced, so far

Friday night fairly busy and one employee obviously new. No issue with any of that. Waited patiently. The main employee was hustling and was polite while making sandwich. When he rung me up it was $6 more than it always is. I said that isn't correct. He snapped and said yes it is. I said $19 for foot long turkey? He said yep..I tipped 20% and asked for recipe. He charged me for extra meat and cheese. The guy before me had extra, so obviously he got confused since busy. I stood well to the side and waited until he finished making all the orders for customers in the store, then addressed him quietly and said he charged me for extras. He again snapped and said that's what you told me.. I said well I didn't but even if I did, you didn't put extra on it. He said yes I did. I opened the sandwich and showed him and he said yes that's extra. It most definitely was not. I said there are only 4 half pieces of cheese, that's extra? He said I put extra... The fact that he looked at it and still was convinced he was correct is crap. If that's him making an extra meat extra cheese sandwich then he makes a crappy sandwich. I mean just look at it. There's 100% proof that there isn't double of both. Pisses me off! Next time I will make a big scene.
