Shopping mall
Makeni Mall is a vibrant culinary destination in Lusaka, perfect for food enthusiasts eager to explore a variety of flavors. This mall offers an impressive selection of dining options, featuring both traditional Zambian cuisine and international dishes that cater to diverse tastes. Beyond its gastronomic delights, Makeni Mall boasts numerous shops, making it an ideal spot for shopping and socializing with family and friends. The minimalist design enhances the shopping experience, although the layout could be improved for easier navigation.
Love the mall. Easily accessible as it is on the main road. There are ATMs available here. The coffee shop here is a nice place to relax at even when alone. It has charging points. The staff in pick n pay are so helpful.

Good place mostly to have a quick grocery pickup or sit down to eat and chat at the cafe's and restaurants. Don't expect much when you go inside though. As of the day I went there it's still a little bit of a ghost town especially upstairs (maybe due to renovations). But it's generally clean and looks okay.
Yamikani M — Google review
It's a decent mall though still needs to upgrade some of its facilities as well as bring new shops on board. Further, new marketing strategies can be introduced to make the mall lively and vibrant.

Soweto Market in Lusaka is a vibrant and bustling marketplace, offering a wide array of goods including handmade crafts, clothing, fresh produce, and various other products. It's known for its lively atmosphere and is considered one of the largest and busiest markets in Zambia. Visitors can immerse themselves in Zambian culture while honing their bargaining skills with local vendors.
Soweto market to move around there one must be active otherwise you can not even move at all lol you have to make ways where there is no way 🤣 we have unending individuals moving up and down where they are heading to it’s unknown and they don’t stop in inside it we having vehicles making ways were there is no way adding up with ba ma bala nabalonga as if kaya now imagine people in the same small road also items being solid , cars bala and moving people lol this nga are cheaper yea but by the time you get back to home you will be tired like hell I now understand why people prefer to buy at town even if it’s expensive lol go to this market with ma patapata and with strength and be ready to be hit by passer bys all your way round otherwise all items are cheaper by 2 times of the prices in at time center . Perfect shopping 🛒
Emily K — Google review
It's a very congested and dirty market. I think the Lusaka City Council should be strict on the cleanliness of these places as they're likely breeding grounds of dirty diseases like cholera
James C — Google review
A place where you can purchase food products at a very cheap price. Ma meda ya beans so, kapenta and other food stuff
NOEL M — Google review
Soweto Market is thriving and bustling; it is one of the biggest and busiest markets in the country. It is full of goods and products, clothing, food and practically anything you can think of. And there's always someone to carry your goodies at a fee. Just ensure you negotiate the fee before you go on your shopping spree🛍 🤔
Margaret C — Google review
Things are cheap here. You will find good vegetables and other food stuffs just waiting for you to get them. It's a big place that covers all foods under one roof. I love the place. A place of good food.
Mbasitwa — Google review
Business minded pipo around there though the market is not too conducive for selling of role food due to stagnant sewage water.. which can cause diseases.

Immerse yourself in the vibrant culture of Zambia at the Kabwata Cultural Village, a unique marketplace that beautifully showcases traditional arts and crafts. Nestled in Lusaka, this enchanting village features over 80 talented artisans from all nine provinces, offering an impressive array of handmade items such as intricate wood carvings, colorful fabrics, woven baskets, and stunning beadwork.
I expected this place to be touristy/ commercial and had avoided it. But in fact this place had the lowest prices of all the places I shopped at for African crafts (including the Sunday market by Arcades Mall). The "village" is a government initiative to promote tourism, so it supports local entrepreneurs, who also seem to be provided a place to live within the same premises. I found a good variety of items here compared to the other places. I wish I had come here first before overpaying at the other places! But of course, as with anywhere else, you need to have a good idea of how much things are worth because some vendors will always try to start off with a ridiculously high price to test if you will take the bait.
Jeneen G — Google review
Collection of traditional African homes. Lots of local vendors with stone and wood carvings for sale. It was a bit of a tourist trap, but it was interesting to see the native wood. I enjoyed looking through the many minerals for sale.
Hans G — Google review
I wasn't sure I'd go as I'd read that vendors were pretty intense, but it seems like the word has spread that harassing tourists doesn't get them to buy things. For the most part, the market was really relaxed, vendors were very kind, and I was able to usually just take my time to browse. Very few vendors were pushy - when anyone started getting a bit aggressive with the selling, i just bailed. Prices are still highly inflated, however, with a bit of pleasant, amicable bargaining, all is well. İt's also a beautiful setting- some of the buildings are used as shops while others have different purposes (ex: one has a little buffet). İt makes part of the place feel like a tourist area while other parts feel more like an actual village. All in all, it's definitely worth a wee little venture out there.
Emily H — Google review
Friendly people. They are happy to tell you when you ask about goods and traditions. Market mood. Same stuff in every tent, prices vary depending on your haggling skills. There is also a small kitchen where you can get local food. Take one of the merchants with you and offer him a meal. Worth a visit.
Jari L — Google review
A great selections of products, from art to wood carvings, jewellery and all varied qualities too. Be prepared to bargain! Not to underpay the sellers but to ensure you get a reasonable deal and aren’t ripped off. For example a set of book ends beautifully carved in stone. He asked for 750 which my driver said was far too high. We paid 250 which he was happy for. Driver later said the chap had spoken in local dialect to another seller and would’ve taken 150… Just as an indication :) Highly recommend the market. It was a great experience. Loved some of the paintings Some of the souvenirs I picked up I paid

A unique traditional craft, cultural and heritage village where rural artisans from all over Zambia bring their products for display and sale, there is huge bargaining, the maintenance of the premises requires a lot of improvement.
Madan M — Google review
A valuable cultural village in which the residents live there, most of them are artisans and make beautiful wood carvings mainly and sell them in tent shops. The detail of their work is remarkable, as is their art. It is worth buying small souvenirs from there at good prices, always bargaining. The people are polite and not too pushy, like elsewhere. They even let you take photos and videos of their work and the village.
GREEK T — Google review
Once you're inside the compound of this village you're immediately treated to a beautiful display of artworks that are mostly handcrafted from wood and stone. There are items like wooden key holders, wooden freezer magnets, miniature stone-carved plates, wooden pen holders, wooden statues, african chess boards with wooden animals as board pieces, wooden pens, wooden animals you can use as decorations at home, etc. And they all have "Zambia" engraved on them which serves as a suitable souvenir to take back home if you're a tourist like me. I really enjoyed my time there.

Town Centre Market in Lusaka, Zambia is not your typical tourist shopping destination, but it offers an authentic glimpse into the daily life of the locals. The market is bustling with friendly people and a wide variety of goods, from electronics to hardware. While some areas may be affected by litter, the market provides an opportunity to find almost anything you need at affordable prices. The competition among vendors ensures that you can negotiate for the best deals.
It's a well organized market where you can buy many of your needs even well cooked food.
Chunda J — Google review
By day, the market hums with the steady rhythm of brick-and-mortar shops; tailors stitching at their machines, grocers stacking fresh produce, and hardware stores clinking with the sound of metal tools. Bright signs hang over narrow aisles, drawing in a steady stream of shoppers. As the sun dips, the scene transforms; hawkers and peddlers flood the walkways, their tables and makeshift stalls spilling over with roasted maize, second-hand clothes, trinkets, and sizzling street food. The air is alive with bargaining voices, the scent of grilled meat, and the glow of rechargeable lamps, giving the market a second life, more vibrant, noisy, and chaotic than the day.

Went there for a work team building this evening and I must say I was really impressed by their food. The atmosphere was great and allowed us to interact without distractions. The service is great and the drinks are delicious. Definitely going there again!

I found this restaurant close to where I had a meeting and thought it would be a great quick bite to eat. The waitress was unclear of the menu to start with. The pizza I ordered was unavailable, when I changed to a Margherita the image attached is what I received. I didn’t fuss so removed the green peppers. However it was far from a pizza 🍕. There was only 2 people in the restaurant besides myself who were having food. It’s not an Italian Restaurant and this should be clear. The food is far from it, I hope the owners can do something to improve on the food as the location is good.
Luca R — Google review
When we saw this place we thought it would be a good stop for lunch. We were the only ones there besides two people talking loudly on speakerphone. We ordered food and it didn’t arrive for at least an hour and a half, and when it came my partner’s pizza was undercooked so much that it was still dough. My dish was alright, but not really worth the wait time. If you’re coming for drinks, choose beer. If you’re coming for food… don’t.
Sophia G — Google review
Lovely serene place to chill out. Has a cozy environment. Their service and food is ok. They have Italian cheese and cold meats for sale too. They make lovely mojitos! And there cheese cake is on point!

Google suggested me the place. Besides me and my wife there was only one table of very noisy people. The had a very loud soundbox. They kept increasing the volume and playing sirens until it was impossible to talk. Even yelling I could not talk to my wife. The waitress had no idea about the food. The table was wobbly and dusty. I ordered a beer and it came hot. We left before ordering the food.

Steak house
Turn n' Tender Steakhouse offers a delightful dining experience with its elegant interior and inviting atmosphere. Guests can indulge in generous portions of dishes like the sizzling t-bone steak and juicy rib-eye, which are standout favorites. While the food is generally tasty, some items, such as soups and onion rings, may not meet expectations. The service is commendable, ensuring that meals arrive promptly; however, the background music can sometimes be overly loud or distracting for diners.
Food is quite ok, some food portions are decently big (wings, steaks, curry) - except soups - but the onion rings was terrible. On the other hand sitting area is almost perfect, service was on point, but sometimes volume and type of music in the background is too distracting, no matter you are having or not having hearing issues. Also, little bit overpriced...
Aleksandar M — Google review
Great steaks here, especially the t-bone steak served sizzling hot! Excellent customer service. Not crowded at all. The ambience was subdued and a number of patrons were not masked up. The table layout hopefully could quickly be rearranged to ensure wheelchair users have proper access. A few mod cons might big up this upmarket restaurant, such as WiFi access.
Clement K — Google review
It's an elegant place with nice interior decoration. They have the best chicken livers in town and my favorite main course is Rib-eye steak which is juicy on a sizzling hot plate. There are quite a lot of wines/spirits/cocktails to choose but much fewer options of soft drinks. Quick service. Sometimes the music is a bit loud and distracting.
Samantha L — Google review
Had a beautiful meal on a quiet Sunday. Not too crowded with nice lighting. Their food was okay. Tasty with just the right amount of spices. A bit limited on the non alcoholic beverages. This could be improved.

Our waiter came to our table to bringing drinks and that's the last we saw of him, the food took an hour to get to our table, the service was too passive. The atmosphere was okay. Definitely a sit-down place when you're not in a hurry...
Muunda N — Google review
First time and was really disappointed with the food , I was served brown chips that had partially been burnt , wondering how someone would see the chips are not okay and still serve them to a customer. The waitress was kind but I would not recommend the place to have a good meal and skeptical to go back.
Kahilu C — Google review
The sirloin steak and rib Eye were good and cooked to the requested level. They are very genourous with their salad portions and the salads are good. The mash potatoes tasted very plain(no cheese or butter or anything). The lemon and herbs chicken wings were like boiled chicken without any taste. The waiters were good/friendly and customer service was okay.
Namoonga S — Google review
Beautiful and cosy place for a sumptuous meal. Nice steaks. Place is good for family, couples or lonely dinners! The place serves very tasty and tender steaks prepared with perfection. The taste just feels your mouth. Located in the splash environs of Kabulonga, the place attracts high class ranks of patrons destined to spoilt each other for class. The restaurant has secure and spacious parking area and has high spaces with great interiors. The bar is well stocked and the air is usually filled with variety of music. With that many glasses of wine, the music can be captivating.

A perfect, quiet hiatus in a bustling city is the most befitting description for this establishment. Musa (the manager) was very welcoming and guided me to my preferred seat Frank waited on me with great attention. I had a refreshing Green Tea and Lemon iced tea which was very quenching. The highlight of my visit was tasting the vegetarian wrap. Every bite was sensational. This veggie wrap wasn't trying to be a meat wrap, but showcasing how beautiful veggies can taste. Ambiance is perfect for conversation with family, friends or a first date. I will be returning, hungry for more.

Had lunch here with a friend and really enjoyed it. The service was fast, and the food was tasty. Their Irish coffee is absolutely amazing — every sip was refreshing and perfectly balanced. However, I was a bit surprised that my pork ribs and rice were served without any sauce, which I had to order separately at an extra cost. Still, the overall experience was pleasant. The place has a lovely green surrounding that makes it great for a relaxed lunch.

I visited the restaurant at 8PM and that’s a bit late for most activities in Lusaka, but let me tell you something, I had a smoothie and a croissant, it was delicious and fresh and the ambiance is amazing for people looking for aesthetics that’s the places, unfortunately I couldn’t take more pictures of the interior not to interfere with the people enjoying their evening, you can check it on socials media. It’s a great place to visit and the waiter who served us was very friendly it’s a shame I don’t remember his name.

These lentils were so delicious. I came here with a group of 12 while in Zambia for a mission trip. All of the food was plated beautifully. The salads and vegetables were all so fresh or cooked perfectly. The mushroom pasta sauce is super good as well. I'm definitely hoping to be able to eat here again when we come back for our next mission trip. The service was some of the best service we had in Zambia. The server was attentive and did her best to try and anticipate what we might need before we even asked. 10/10 recommend.

I only had a juice there as I wasn't staying long and had already had lunch, but the menu looks amazing and I can't wait to come back to try some of their dishes! The juice was so freshly refreshing! (And it matched my shirt! 🤣) I went back the next day with a friend for supper! I had a great minute steak (forgot to take a photo), she had calamari (no photo). Both dishes were really good! We had a chocolate waffle with vanilla ice cream for dessert (soooooo good!) Oh!... and another juice for me (beetroot, carrot and apple)

The atmosphere is pretty and very "chill", its not noisy so if you want a quick meeting over a meal or just somewhere to sit and chat it seems like a good option. The service is prompt, a little disorganised because I kept losing my waitress but others filled in on her behalf, which helped. The food was so lovely and scrumptious, looked very simple but I loved how it tasted and it was not over the top or exaggerated, just simple and delicious.

University
The University of Zambia is a picturesque campus with mostly old concrete buildings and some state-of-the-art lecture halls. The university features lovely walkways and scenic views of the Goma lakes, providing spots for relaxation. With a community of about 15-20 thousand students, it offers a wide range of facilities including sports fields. Adjacent to the premier shopping mall in Lusaka, students have easy access to various amenities.

It is a nice place with a lake behind the institution for scenic beauty leisure. There is also a big mall nearby so snacks while you relax won't be a problem. The institution is a wide community of about 15-20 thousand students. I have also had a fair share of using their sports fields which are quiet okey although not of the average best standard. The place I believe will have more student as well as community benefiting projects due to the vast land still unused. And you don't have to worry about parking space because there is plenty for both the public and staff at the institution.

Marlin Restaurant is a renowned dining spot in Lusaka, Zambia, known for its delectable pepper-steak and other mouthwatering dishes. It's a popular choice among locals and visitors alike. The restaurant offers a diverse menu featuring an array of flavorful options. With its excellent reputation, Marlin Restaurant stands out as one of the best dining establishments in the area, attracting food enthusiasts seeking an unforgettable culinary experience in Zambia.
Really good steaks. Very good service. Must visit again
Syed F — Google review
It was an early dinner so the place was relatively quiet at first. Unfortunately once it got a bit busier it was hard to get the waiter's attention but they did the best they could. The food was exceptional! The flavours were great with the main dishes. The steak was cooked to perfection and the curry chicken was seasoned extremely well. LThe side dishes were ok and you could refill as much as you like. The portion sizes were also good enough to fill you. The Malawi shandy was just alright. I've tasted better. Definitely would like to return and try other dishes
Shanell C — Google review
"Marlin" Restaurant is nestled in the heart of the Longacres area, adjacent to the once prestigious Lusaka Club. It is also a dining experience that leaves a mixed impression. The decor, while maybe aiming for a cosy ambience, feels outdated and needs a refresh. The open kitchen concept, while possibly intended to showcase culinary artistry, inadvertently fills the dining area with a cacophony of aromas, some enticing, others less so. The menu (by the way, printed with some typing errors) offers a diverse range of options, but the execution is inconsistent. The rock shandy lacked the expected zest, and the pancakes were overly sweet, lacking the depth of brandy flavour. The minestrone was passable, while the self-serve salad bar raised hygiene concerns. However, the pepper steak emerged as a standout dish, delivering on flavour. The dimly lit interior, while perhaps intended to create an intimate atmosphere, instead cast a gloomy pall over the dining experience. Service was attentive, but the ambience exceeded expectations for a restaurant of - said by locals - 'calibre'. In summary, Marlin Restaurant presents a mixed bag of culinary delights and also disappointments, with the potential for "greatness" if they address the shortcomings in decor, menu execution, and ambience.
Aleksandar M — Google review
Definitely had a old golf country club feel if you are looking for that type of environment. Unfortunately the table cloth was filthy and had multiple oil stains. Not a good look for an older building. The pepper steak was cooked medium well as I asked for and the pepper gravy was the best I’ve had. The baked potato was perfectly cooked but extremely small. I’d say the price for what you get is a little high but I’d go back just for the pepper steak!

One of Lusaka's restaurants that has stood the test of time. It has a cosy environment and good service. There food is tasty and fresh. They serve the best pepper steak in town. It has two outlets. One at Lusaka Club and the other at East Park Mall. Reservations can be made prior to your visit but walk-ins are also welcome. Food can also be pre-ordered for pick up later. Overall, it has a good ambience, good food and friendly staff.

Chang Thai is a highly recommended restaurant known for its delicious vegetarian pad Thai and generous portion sizes. Customers love the quality of service, food, and ambiance. The house red wine is also worth trying. With fair prices and consistently great food like pad Thai and green curry, it's a place that doesn't disappoint. Even after years, the food remains excellent with good customer service adding to the overall experience.
Great food, good atmosphere and good service. We don’t ask for anything else.

Really enjoyed my vegetarian pad Thai! Huge portions, enough for two filling meals or could even be split as 3 ‘comfortable’ meals. Had some of the house red wine which was also quite good. Would definitely recommend this place because of the quality of service, food, portion sizes and ambiance!!

Dong Fang Restaurant in Lusaka is a hidden gem that beckons with its spacious and clean interior, perfect for those seeking a more formal dining experience. Often frequented by groups of Chinese businesspeople, it offers private rooms on the second floor for added privacy. The menu boasts an array of generous one-dish options that may be unfamiliar to some diners, but they are sure to satisfy even the heartiest appetites.
I was curious about it every time I passed by, but suddenly the power went out at night, so I decided to come and get some takeout. The inside was very spacious and clean, and there were private rooms on the second floor, so it seemed like it was used by groups of Chinese business people. It feels more like a formal restaurant than a casual one. The menu had a lot of decent one-dish dishes, many of which I wasn't used to, and the prices seemed a little high. I ordered mapo tofu, gyoza, and fried rice, and they were all delicious. I could also use my card.

Very average food not impressed as a first time customer, one dish sweet & sour pork tenderloins tasted like they had spent time in the freezer and defrosted in the microwave, all stuck together and difficult to separate. Once bitten twice shy shall not be going back sorry.

The portions are gigantic, which is great if you’ve got company. Service is decent, but beware: the smoke can make you feel like you’ve accidentally walked into a lounge. it’s worth a try!

Badly run compared to how it used to be. Couldn't do three of the dishes we ordered because they'd run out of ingredients. Only had two types of wine available, one red, one white. The young Chinese manageress walked past our table with her hands in her pockets about ten times without ever addressing a word to us. Food was nice and the other staff were good.
Tony N — Google review
The food is good, but the environment still lacks the Western-style professionalism. No receipt, got my order wrong. The workers are nice though.

1.Cold customer service, staff are not quick enough to welcome you and settle you down at a table and segregative.(Chinese are better welcomed) 2.Alcohol department doesn't seem to favour local beer(lagers ,Mosi/castle out of stock pathetic) excuse!.local staff also don't seem to know the chinese menu too well. 3.Chocking Spices! Hot food spices from kitchen was an unpleasant experience! The air inside was polluted chili spices chocked guests as well as staff(coughing) we felt teagassed. Never again.
Amusaa M — Google review
I think the food is great but to me, it just doesn't offer a totally Chinese experience. I expect a bit of a culture when I go to a foreign restaurant. It's not just the food, a bit of culture could make it better!

Seafood restaurant
John Dory's Lusaka is a well-known sushi restaurant that offers a wide variety of fresh seafood dishes. Customers often praise the quality and freshness of the seafood used in their sushi, sourced from reputable suppliers. The menu includes a lovely seafood collection, with many patrons recommending the burgers for their homemade patties and flavorful taste. The friendly and efficient service adds to the overall positive dining experience at John Dory's Lusaka.
For all your sea food needs? Look no further!!!! The first time I ate from here, I thought it was a scam cause how can food be so fresh? And so flavorful??? And so affordable?! My mum loves fish so we always order the same dish (Hake & Chips) from here but tasting the other good things on their menu was the best decision I’ve ever made 😹. Let me stop being dramatic. The food is fresh. The servers are very friendly and efficient. The price is affordable. Spent about 700 for this meal (that was only because my friend was craving sushi and decided to order about 4 different types) but my combo (the Prawns with a single Hake was about 210- and was so filling). Don’t eat anything else other than sea food when you go here, cause why go fishing when what you actually want is to braii? 🙃

Had a great meal at John Dory’s. Loved the ambiance, very friendly service, good food presentation and delicious food. We ordered, grilled calamari for starters and hake and prawns in the mains. However, I felt the quantity of the food when compared to the price was a bit little. But had a great meal. They also have great sushi platters too. Overall a good experience. Thank you.

John Dory's is a popular sushi restaurant chain known for its fresh seafood and extensive menu. While I cannot provide a personal review since I am an AI and do not have personal experiences, I can give you a general idea of what people often appreciate about John Dory's sushi. Many customers appreciate the quality and freshness of the seafood used in their sushi dishes. John Dory's often sources their fish from reputable suppliers, ensuring a high standard of taste and texture. The menu typically offers a variety of sushi rolls, sashimi, nigiri, and other Japanese-inspired dishes, providing options for both sushi enthusiasts and those new to Japanese cuisine. Customers also often mention the pleasant and inviting atmosphere of John Dory's restaurants. The ambiance is usually relaxed and comfortable, making it a suitable place for casual dining or even special occasions. The restaurant staff is usually attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, which can enhance the overall dining experience. It is essential to note that experiences can vary between different locations, as each restaurant may have its own unique ambiance and service quality. Therefore, it's always a good idea to check reviews specific to the John Dory's location you plan to visit to get a better understanding of what to expect. Ultimately, if you enjoy sushi and are looking for a restaurant with a diverse menu and a reputation for fresh seafood, John Dory's could be worth a try.

The waiting staff were very friendly and welcoming. The booths were clean and nicely lit. They had lots of options on the menu. The sushi was tasty and filling. I was also very impressed when they brought the white wine out with chilled wine glasses, something that most restaurants do not do. So that gave them an extra point. The sides were very yummy too.

I really like deep fried hake. I ordered that with a side of seasonal veggies. Additionally, I also ordered a side of mushroom sauce, but sadly it came in a tiny palm sized metal tin that was quite dissapointing. Because I really love mushroom sauce. John Dory's is one of the few restaurants in Lusaka offering a selection of sea foods at an affordable price. So I expected better.

Day 3

Proximity is everything
For day 3, we bundled attractions like Kenneth Kaunda International Airport (LUN) and 37d Gallery and other places within a close range, so that the time it takes to travel between all of them is less than one hour. Combined with the average time people spend there, your day should take about 8 hours.

Airport
Kenneth Kaunda International Airport (LUN) in Lusaka is a delightful gateway to Zambia, offering travelers a serene and efficient experience. The airport boasts a clean and green environment, complemented by well-maintained access roads that enhance its natural beauty. With helpful staff ready to assist newcomers, navigating the airport is straightforward. Travelers can enjoy spacious lounges and tidy washrooms while waiting for their flights.
Modern airport with all the new facilities. The shops open a bit late in the morning I guess it's something to do with traffic. Otherwise everything looks modern compared to the old terminal,
Andrew S — Google review
Well laid out international airport. There are some comfortable restaurants on the air side. The duty-free shops are exorbitant tourist traps.
Paul — Google review
Kenneth Kaunda International Airport is functional but quite basic. The facilities are clean, and immigration staff are generally polite, but the airport could use some modernization and better organization. Baggage handling can be slow, and signage isn’t always clear for first-time travellers. It gets the job done, but there's definitely room for improvement in terms of comfort and efficiency.
Khuram S — Google review
Well the renovations certainly paid off. Inspite of people complaining about the quality of renovations, It's so much better than it was some years back. The lighting has been improved, the rooms refurbished and the addition of elevators has made accessibility better. Addition of eating places is a big plus + which has started attracting more and more people to the establishment but just for the occasional travel necessity, bust just to visit and have a pleasant time. It's worth mentioning though that Zambia has a lot of aircraft enthusiasts. And with that passion there's a need to watch aeroplanes coming in and taking off so they can just enjoy themselves. However KKIA does not have proper facilities where this can be done. It would be a huge favour to alot of people if they could make this possible at both the local and international terminals. If a small fee can be charged just so this potential facility could be accessed, I'm sure most of us would not mind.
Katai K — Google review
Nice and small Good Airport ! Immigration officers are very Friendly and nice.
Manjyot S — Google review
Leaving it is very easy, straightforward and overall just easy. Coming from elsewhere and dropping here is a slightly different experience. I don't know if this was a one-time thing but in the past 24hours of posting this review I visited 3 airports and all of them had the bridges ready for people to leave the planes, however this airport kind of waited last minute. Considering the fact my flight was delayed twice you'd think there wouldn't be more delays but sadly not everything goes as planned. The security was lovely most of the Guards and Assistants were kind, some just wouldn't smile back or look away after staring at you first - as a guard/assistant by the door don't stare at someone if you aren't going to wish them a safe journey or something. But overall everything was good just a little more practice on the time management and hospitality would give it 4 stars from me. 5 stars if there was more things to do there, like look at arts or something. It looked like the whole goal was to get you from point a - b as if us Zambians don't need tourism.
Liswaniso M — Google review
The new airport is better, nicer, and larger than the old one, which is now used for local flights. It features a VIP lounge, as well as several small cafes and shops, both indoor and outdoor. (Edit August 2025)
Aleksandar M — Google review
The airport was cleaned and green. The road leading to it is also good... Love its natural beauty. I didn't have issues getting there because my hotel was not far from the airport. The queue was ok and I did my check-in online...For the souvenirs shop, if you get time, get your souvenirs gift in town before leaving to the airport...I saw a hotel signal board at the airport but not sure if they have hotel inside the airport...

My cousin recommended the cappuccino and he was not wrong. It was frothy, smooth and delicious. I also had the bacon quiche and it was also delicious. A really lovely and relaxed space with beautiful art you can purchase. Some people optt to work here on their laptops. But for me this was purely a relaxing visit, I didn't feel like taking out my laptop. The staff are lovely, friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. O would definitely recommend a visit to this beautiful gallery/ cafe. The Rock Cafe is the cafe name on sight. There is also a small area selling beautiful items like copper bowls, ear rings, and other ornaments for the home.

We weren’t sure what to expect when we walked into the gallery, but we were genuinely blown away. It’s beautiful and inviting with a spacious cafe, and the art on display was not only beautiful but deeply moving. There’s a nice mix of styles, so there’s something for everyone, and we found ourselves getting lost in a few pieces longer than expected. The staff were friendly and happy to chat without being pushy, which made the whole experience feel even more relaxed. Honestly, it was a really refreshing way to spend an afternoon, I’d definitely recommend it.

The place was spectacular, especially if you are someone who appreciates some fine art. My problem was definitely with the staff. They were extremely cold, uncaring, and unwelcoming as though our prescence was bothering them. The food is also way overpriced if you compare it to other places offering the same things. But if you don't mind the staff you will have a good time. My biggest disappointment was being unable to take pictures of the art.

Great brunch spot with lots of beautiful artworks to add to the ambience. Easy to locate in Kabulonga and nice quiet space with multiple sitting options. Not only can you grab a quick bite to eat you could also purchase some art and/or jewelry on the same premises. Service was great, little slow but very courteous and helpful. Tried the Thai Chicken Wrap and Pulled Pork wrap, the Pulled Pork Wrap was excellent. Certainly going back. The parking is on the outside only, but seems fairly safe.

I dunno what I ate but it was not great. I asked the staff what is in the chefs special and she seemed dumb and did not tell me what was in the food. For all she knows I’m allergic to nuts and she just put them on my plate. On top of that I asked for chicken fried rice and got veg. Last of all me and my gf felt like throwing up so we didn’t finish the food and gave it to the homeless. Don’t eat here unless you know what your buying. Wonderful place to experience Crocodiles of all shapes & sizes, they have 1000+. A few snakes too. Good food & drinks available including Croc burgers! Our daughter enjoyed the playground and small pool with local school children on a visit. Shootout to Henry who explained more and showed us the big Crocs feeding on chickens! Good way to spend 2-3hrs in Lusaka

Had an amazing experience. Got a chance to see live crocodiles of different age groups and conquered my fear of seeing snakes face to face because they have big snakes to see too. Apart from live crocodiles they even stock crocodiles products from food to belts and more.

This place is absolutely amazing. Take your swimsuit, fishing rods, a picnic, and lay under the large shady trees. There is a child's play ground available with swings. The pool areas are stunning with huge palm trees. There is a resturant to buy food (my son tired the world famous crocodile burger) and a souvenir shop (got myself some crocodile oil soap). I see you can stop by the entrance to purchase crocodile meat to cook at home (without paying for entrance). Large variety of snakes, and they are well cared for and active. The crocs are magnificent and there is this one that is a MONSTER! You'll never see a croc as big as him. Wish I had taken the fishing rod, as they have ponds specified for fishing. There is a large amount of mature trees, with signs telling you what they are. Flowers in winter? This is definitely the place. Fun day out for the kids. Would definitely recommend. The only downside to the park is there is rubbish thrown into the main crocodile pond. I saw alcohol cans and empty water bottles etc. I guess who is going to go in that large pond area to clean up rubbish, with over 20 crocodiles? Can't blame them, but possibly restrict people with food and drink from that area to avoid people throwing rubbish over the side. It's sad to see a crocodile laying next to rubbish. One star lost because of this factor. Regardless, definitely a complete day out with many activities all in one spot.

Great experience, well worth a visit! Staff were friendly and told us a lot about the various animals they have. One thing I really liked, was the signs included the local language names of the animals. We also had some crocodile snags (sausages) and they were great!

Was very interesting to see the enormous Nile Crocodiles. They have a lot there. You could also hold a snake which was interesting. They have a tiny souvenir shop with a few interesting things. You can also buy crocodile meat and leather. I had the crocodil kebab which was very flavourful and cost K145. I enjoyed the afternoon there. There were some trash with the crocodiles which was sad to see.

I had a great time at Kalimba Reptile Park. The staff are amazing. They showed us around and answered all our questions (shout out to Mr Chingwere 😆). I am dead scared of snakes and crocodiles but they made me feel comfortable and secure. I did not get to touch the Snake like everyone else did 😂😂😂 but I did hold the tortoise and the lil baby crocodile 🤣. I had a hard time getting the courage to hold the croc, but I did eventually ☺️ (ps, they're sooo cute omgggg 😆😆). The tortoise was easy to hold because, it's a tortoise 🤣🤣 it hid in it's shell. It wasn't as scary ☺️. The food!!! You should definitely try out the crocodile burger (it was my first time). It was delicious, I can't recommend it enough!! Try it, try it, try it!! You won't regret it!! Overall,it's a nice place to chill and just unwind around reptiles, lol. The stories behind each reptile are rich, detailed and interesting!

Hungry Lion 1 at EastPark Mall in Lusaka, Zambia is a popular spot with a long queue but decent food. It's part of the top 10 restaurants in the area and offers American and African cuisine. The place has received positive feedback for its good service and fresh, warm food. However, some customers have faced issues with charging their phones due to non-functional outlets. Despite this, it remains a favorite dining destination for families, friends, and business gatherings.
Hungry Lion 1 EastPark is located at Shop No 04A, Eastpark Mall, on the corner of Thabo Mbeki and Great East Road in Lusaka, Zambia. If you're planning to visit Hungry Lion 1 EastPark, you can expect a lively atmosphere and a range of options to satisfy your hunger.

They did not put salt, tomato sauce and sarviettes in our order. The chicken was delicious but the chips were on the dry side.
Junior M — Google review
I just had two terrible experiences. Last time the chicken tasted bland, also had a slightly darker colour like the oil had been used for a long time. Today I ordered a cone, it tasted stale. Otherwise, I like your food it's my go to fast food place, just hope they'll be some improvements next time I come by.
Luyando H — Google review
Hungry Lion has multiple restaurants doted around the country. Lusaka City has the most of these. They all serve the same thing; fried chicken and sides to make a meal. You can choose between Chilli and no Chilli. They have a selection of drinks as well which are reasonably priced. One of the few restaurants you can go to to buy a drink and not be ripped off. Depending on where the outlest is, your experience changes ever so slightly. But the food, the food never changes. It's great of you love this chicken (and I do), but not so good if you crave variety. This particular Hingry Lion is located at East Park mall so, mall parking is plenty. Also, plenty of competition along side. As of writing this review, a pizza place next door burger joint a shop away, and restaurants with more variety (proper restaurants) close by. What Hungry Lion does best, is price. The value for money you get here is only beaten by a super market. Also, their chicken is awesome. It's a clean establishment. Has music through speakers. Service time is average. 10-15 minutes tops even at peak times.

Lovely burgers and sundaes. The caramel Sunday is yummy . The burger size is just right: value for money . The chicken is too good

I Don't taste but my friend with me who tasted and saying oil too much. Taste is not too good But okay okay... 😐 Variety bucket.. But not enough variety only 1 without chilli 🌶 another with chilli 🌶 that's they only variety available in variety bucket.. Over all not satisfied with service.. .😐

It's a fast food chain so you expect pretty much the same as you get from all other locations. The food is great if you're craving their chicken and/or fries. Chicken can tend to be oily as is expected of fast food Fast service, friendly staff, usually enough sitting space.

Latitude 15 Degrees is a stylish hotel with spacious accommodations and modern amenities. The hotel features an international dining option, a chic bar, and a heated outdoor pool for guests to enjoy. The on-site restaurant offers a variety of dishes including homemade pastas, while the bar provides quick bites for those on the go. With its trendy atmosphere and great breakfast choices, Latitude 15 Degrees is a popular spot in Lusaka.
I travel extensively all over and this one of my favorite hotel properties. Recently wrapped up a second visit (the first being in 2021) and it was just as good as I remembered it. We stayed here 2 nights to deal with jet-lag before heading into the bush for safari, and I can’t think of a better property to do that at than Latitude 15. Some of the highlights: gorgeous property adorned with amazing art throughout. You could literally walk around the whole property treating it like an art museum. Additionally, the restaurant food is fantastic. This is one of the rare hotel restaurants where due to the variety and quality of the food, I feel comfortable staying here to eat for every meal. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Everyone tries and makes an effort to ensure you’re well taken care of. They have a great gym with everything you need to have a decent vacation workout and a very nice, deep pool. This property definitely figures in my decision to return to Zambia again and again.

Latitude 15 Degrees, Lusaka: The Ultimate Long-Stay Oasis Having had the opportunity to stay at Latitude 15 Degrees for over 45 days, I can confidently say this is one of the best hotels for both short and extended trips to Lusaka. The facility seamlessly blends comfort, style, and world-class service into a peaceful retreat. The rooms and facilities are truly superb. I loved the authentic decor and concept, which gives the entire property a distinct, boutique feel. The attention to detail in the design is exceptional. Where Latitude 15 truly shines is its staff and service. The service is top-notch, and all the staff members are super friendly and genuinely helpful, creating a welcoming atmosphere that is consistent throughout your stay. The dining experience is enjoyable, with nice food and a reliable breakfast. While the menu variety naturally becomes limited after a month of daily dining, the quality remains high. For entertainment, the hotel features live singers or performances on weekends, adding a vibrant energy. Be sure to book a table well in advance, as these events draw a crowd and the restaurant gets super busy. Finally, for practical peace of mind in Lusaka, the hotel is a winner. Despite the frequent power outages common in the city, the hotel is equipped with generators, ensuring your stay is peaceful and quiet, and you won't be impacted by any power interruptions. Verdict: Latitude 15 Degrees is a superior choice for accommodation in Lusaka. It is a peaceful, well-run, and stylish hotel that provides a genuine sanctuary, backed by excellent staff and essential amenities like reliable power. Highly recommended.

I can't say much about the rooms because I have not yet experienced it yet. The service, location and visibility is on point. I would recommend visiting even for lunch and dinner.( If you want you can book a room to fully immerse yourself with the experience LATITUDE 15 DEGREES has to offer.) They make sure you're warm too with their heaters 🙌🏾💪🏾📍 And also every Friday there is good music to kick start the evening. The service is handled by professionals who understand the assignment.

An excellent choice in Lusaka, about 30-40 minutes from the airport, a drive which gives a view through the city in its variety. The hotel is like an art gallery inside - so tastefully done. I can't think of another hotel I've ever been to with such attention to the variety and quality of local art. Truly lovely. The rooms are beautiful though the beds are quite hard. Also, the live music was very loud, making it hard to sleep. The food is great - I can recommend staying in food meals. The service, though friendly, is very slow. For example, we waited at our table for 45 minutes for our food after we ordered, though the restaurant did not seem busy. Overall, I can recommend it, despite these notes.

Ordered food and waited over an hour for it to be served. Food (platter) was really cold, pizza was extremely dry(practically cardboard) and the ribs were undercooked. We sent the food back to be warmed up and when it came back from being heated up part of the platter was missing and was never brought back and ribs were not any better. The waiter would disappear for long periods and we’d have to ask other servers to help locate him. Overall terrible experience.
Kalusha S — Google review
This is my second year in Lusaka, but I have never seen worse restaurant service than this. When I entered the restaurant, I asked if Airtel payment was accepted since I had forgotten my card today. The waiter said yes. After finishing my meal, I made the Airtel payment exactly as instructed and even added an extra 20 kwacha for the cash-out fee. Worried about possible network delays, I waited another 10 minutes. Yet after a full 30 minutes, they claimed they hadn’t received the payment. The waiter even held me at the front desk and refused to let me leave, treating me like a thief, saying I must wait for their accountant to verify it. Even Yango delivery drivers confirm Airtel payments faster than this. Every receptionist, even the white manager, said nothing to explain or apologize — they just made me wait. I will never come to this restaurant again, and I will share my dining experience on every platform. If you want to be treated like a thief, then go ahead — otherwise, take my advice and stay away.

Munda Wanga Environmental Park is a picturesque and accessible attraction in Lusaka, Zambia. It features botanical gardens, an animal park with zebras, giraffes, wildebeest, and various antelopes, as well as a wildlife sanctuary for rehabilitated animals. The park offers designated picnic spots and campsites for families and outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy the serene surroundings.

Don't go alone. Cheap entry fee of K25 but the place is finished. Only two lions, lots of monkeys and lazy, dead looking crocs
Jeson — Google review
This is the opposite of a wildlife sanctuary. Would recommend you never go there. There’s very few animals and zero information about them, with the animals being kept in terrible conditions: in the pictures you can see the pool of some lizards full of plastic everywhere and the only lion they have, kept on a very small cage. The guide had zero information to add, she was basically just indicating us the way. The extra facilities are not operational: the bar, the restaurant, the pool, the slide. The government should close this place immediately.

The place needs more funding for maintenance. My 6 and 2 year olds however, loved loved the place... It was good family time... There were some swings, and a struggling jumping castle... we were not sure about the pool so we didn't swim... but the pool was open and there were some kids swimming.
Rachael M — Google review
The place is ideal for picnics and is absolutely calm and peace, I'm giving three stars because the toilets are not good at all. The animal viewing is great though the tour guide is not as exciting. Otherwise I'll be going there all the time

Structures need rehabilitation but I was happy to see a good number of animals. For the price it was definitely worth it.

The Freedom Statue in Lusaka is a significant historic landmark honoring the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives during the struggle for Independence. It holds special importance during Africa Freedom Day celebrations, commemorating martyrs from history. Situated near the Lusaka National Museum, this statue portrays a man breaking free from colonial slavery and dependence. Visitors can also explore nearby attractions such as the Political Museum, Zintu Community Museum, and the University of Zambia.
The Freedom Statue is a worthy visit if you are in Zambia. Being that it’s located right near the National Museum I’d suggest making it part of a half-day trip. There are local buses that drop you off right in front of the statue and it’s also very near to the long-distance bus terminal so you could drop by the Statue on your way out of town to Vic Falls or anywhere else your traveling. Symbols of freedom in any country should be acknowledged in my opinion. So it was a nice pause to recognize that symbol in Zambia.

Found the statue a little disappointing. Apart from the fact that it is not really accessible, there is no real explanation of what it is about. The significance is consequently lost on people that don't already know its origin. Everything seems to be run down a little, and could need some TLC.

The Freedom Statue, around the corner from the Lusaka National Museum, is dedicated to freedom fighters and those who lost their lives in the struggle for Zambia’s independence. The depiction of a man breaking his chains symbolises the country’s break with colonial bondage and was erected to celebrate Zambia’s independence in 1964. It’s a popular place for Africa Freedom Day celebrations (25 May).

Art museum
The Lusaka National Museum is a must-visit for those interested in urban culture, traditional and ancient history, and archaeology. Divided into upper and lower galleries, it showcases Zambian history and culture through art, contemporary paintings, sculptures, artifacts, and exhibits. The museum's wings focus on history, contemporary art, witchcraft, and ethnography. Visitors can also explore the Freedom Statue nearby as a symbol of Zambia's freedom and independence.
The museum may be small, but it offers a powerful look at Zambia's captivating history from prehistory to nowadays. You'll learn about the struggles and triumphs of its people, the (negative) impact of colonialism, and the nation's journey to independence and beyond. The exhibits highlight the resilience and pride of Zambians, echoing the national motto: One Zambia, one nation! A truly worthwhile experience.

It's a decent place to spend a couple of hours. I wouldn't feel sad if I missed it, but I'm glad I went. --What's there-- Floor 1: 95% dedicated to Zambia's first president Kenneth Kaunda. All the information feels like it was written by his press secretary as it's overwhelmingly positive. He comes across as a saint with a flawless reign of positivity and a legacy of gold. Reading through it was interesting and it sounds like he did a lot of good stuff, but it feels odd to have a museum exhibit written in such a one sided manner. Floor 2: 50% is a decent walk through of Zambia's political history, filling in the timeline pretty well. It goes over the ups and downs, explaining the things that seemed to have been missed on floor 1. I learnt a ton in this part. The remaining 50% is on evolution, as they found an important skull in Zambia.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the super nice hostel and I must say, it exceeded all of my expectations. From the moment I arrived, the workers were incredibly welcoming and made me feel right at home. The cleanliness of the hostel was impeccable - every corner was spotless and well-maintained. I was impressed by how well the staff kept everything in order, making sure that the common areas and rooms were always in top condition. One of the highlights of my stay was the beautiful pool area. It was the perfect spot to relax and unwind after a day of exploring the city. The pool was clean and inviting, and I loved spending my afternoons lounging by the water. The kitchen at the hostel was also amazing. It was fully equipped with everything I needed to cook my own meals, which was a great way to save money while traveling. Generally, I wouldn't say I like to eat inside most of the shopping malls (especially in Lusaka) because customers are usually close to the parking (depressive steel & cement feel or cars & cement view) or a bunch of people are passing by. Zoran Caffè's is slightly different, being on the food court (upper part) of Levy Mall. No matter I didn't like the (relatively new) interior redesign, which, for my liking, has a too rich and earthy colour scheme, I heard many good things about the food, so I bravely stepped into :) and ordered (mainly because I was in a hurry) a burger, avocado/halloumi salad, and freshly squeezed (vitamin bomb) juice. The burger patty was one of the best I ever had in Zambia, fresh and soft, which for me is 50% of burger success. Actually, (the entire) burger was excellent. I just tried chips; they were not dry or too oily, being reasonably tasty, but I didn't eat them mainly because I tried to avoid chips / french fries, especially when I did find out that many restaurants are deep frying them (not sure for Zoran Cafe) in the same oil for a more extended period (whole day) which is literate poison for the body. Avocado & halloumi salad was delicious, but I wouldn't say I like halloumi cold (or, in this case, not warm). It's funny how in Lusaka, at local restaurants, I rarely enjoy halloumi as I enjoy it when it's prepared at home with butter and on a pan. Maybe it is just because of the halloumi brands that I'm buying, compared to some restaurants. However, the salad was decent, while freshly squeezed juice (vitamin bomb) tasted like it was missing some ingredients (betroot) and ice, being not cold enough. In the end, the meal was surprisingly alright, but somewhat older interior design/furniture I didn't find inviting, no matter if the ambience was O.K.

Highly recommend going here for any occasion. They have a wide variety of delicious food and very attentive and caring staff. Even though the word cafe is in the name, the dining experience is truly revolutionary with seating areas inside the cozy restaurant, a seating area right outside the restaurant in the mall, and a bar and sports viewing section outside. Each day, they bake fresh cakes that are truly delicious! Have eaten at this restaurant multiple times since coming to Zambia and it almost feels like a second home. For food, definitely recommend the Lamb Shank, the Beef and Broccoli Lo Mein, and the Steak Medallions
